my nephew just graduated from Duke (Law) , and he was told "don't expect to find a job until next March"...my suggestion for a recent law graduate is to get a job as an ADA at the district attorney's office. on a resume an inexperienced person should write down projects and volunteer work they have done while in school....I think it is good to take assignments seriously. Talking to a lawyer would be a good idea.

mom - the schooling system is a lottery depending on where you live and what the catchment area is like. Personally I dont have kids so I am not up on all the ins and outs of it but from what I read it is a nightmare!

I really am a firm believer in public education. Being involved does help, that I can tell you for certain. You have to step up, go to meetings, serve on boards, etc... but it is worth it if you can exact some real positive change... which I think I did on some level when I served on the Board of Ed.
It is strange, mom2. Just over the line in PA, the schools are great. Maryland and Jersey also good. Pay is lousy for teachers everywhere. I think that's why the public school system here is low-ranking.

Trifioso-i bought an old playpen in my carport & put the mom & kittens in that while they were young-the mom could get out for food & water but for a while the kittens could not-then i didn't have to care for the kittens until they were older

The problem is that often once you have touched the kittens the Mom won't have anything to do with them anymore... that's what happened to us.

I do keep them shut in there - with two other cats, a dog and a house bunny on site it is safer for all that way!
My then 3-year-old had taken them out of the garage to "play house" with them... once I realized what she had done I had no choice but to take them in... left them alone initially, but the mother would no longer feed them once they had my daughter's scent on them, I guess. So the cat rescue lady up the street told me what to do and I did it...
But, yeah, they were more work than a human baby, LOL!
