aha, found the other bird mentioned earlier, to 6
can anyone tell me what 9 is missing? I have de 9 x 2 and re 9 x 2
don't know, was wondering, too
ac 8/9
our politicos are screwed up here...tomorrow is the last day of the fiscal year...if we have no budget passed and signed, we don't work Wed...the stalemate is on the controlling republicans who don't want to increase taxes (temporarily) to help raise funds ($3 billion for the current year ending tomorrow) and would rather cut more form the education budget..in a state ranked 49th in education spending...the dems were never invited to help craft a budget so they don't really care what happens...they won't be to blame wither way...
ty, Just
k ty
'fraid not Volley, been to busy updating icon anc chatting, which reminds me I must get back to the grid.

Has the Sultan of Brunei's brother's house still got armed guards out front?
Oh morning Ata and yes
ahhh, got the ac8/9 ty. it looks like a compound word but i doubt it is
I always find that very bizarre - la la la Sunningdale la la la ARMED GUARDS!
You should have seen the way they built the walls around the estate, facinating.
The driveway to Mums old house was opposite the site and she used to meander down and have a chat with the builders
are thry special foot thick titanium cored nuclear proof walls?
Oh and the rest!! plus he was hit with a lawsuit when he took down some of the internal structure, several marble columns, which he was forced to reinstate at incredible cost.
I don't see the ac 9
highest card in deck + sc5, a smell
thank you rb
def. a new one for me!
I had no idea it belonged to John Lennon first!
Time for a break, not sure if it is breakfast or lunch that I want seeing as I have been up since 3. Back in a while.

Oh! Lickety arrived! when?
Wow, flosey! Didn't think you could!
was away for about an hour, chatted with hubby for a while after he finished the scoring
I didn't think I could either!
hmmm, now no excuse
but have only 81 words, better get to work
Didn't he also get the Nobel Peace Prize?
FMitch -- why could he not remove the columns?
I have all of 52 words, lol
meant to put that in, hmmm, how did I miss that
yes, in l957
ok, I must poof, I didn't really mean to start chatting anyway. I want to take pup out before it gets baking hot again today. BBL!
bye ata -- stay cool!
hi jilli, flosey..
hi Mar
hi just!
been in and out doing laundry...
didn't one of the flag ideas have the blues on the outside te represent ocean to ocean?
I don't know really...I actually tried to upload a "floating flag" but it didn't work so just picked this
the blue is to rep quebec I believe
I don't remember too much about the changing of the flag, just remember Dad and a few others still flew the red ensign on their boats - most of them military men who had served under that flag and had emotional attachment to it
oh, then it belongs inside the flag, doesn't it!
lol I guess...was just being silly
fireworks
If i was to pick a homegrown celeb...I'd pick guy laliberte not the diva!
YAY anike!
wtg Anike
yay, anike!!!
gg anike
How about PET, just?
for those who don't know...guy is the founder and ceo of Cirque de Soleil
TY - would try to do some clues but have to get ready - house hunting with my son and daughter - they are planning to buy a house together
oh thought "live" persons..
lol Mar, perhaps depends how old one is!
lol meant PET is not with us anymore, at least in the flesh
Bye for now
bye anike
sprite's choice lied inthe 1600s -- you should have her in your My Friends -- she is the one who lists the themes
don't think Pearson is either - Jilli?
don't think so, flosey
I do jilli
Whose photo would I use as my avatar for today's theme, Jilli - my next-door neighbour? Yes, I'd have to! HAHAHA . . .
I meant I do have her in my friends not that I do think pearson is alive!
Pearson died in Dec 1972
wow long time ago...
JC, you could put up the former owner of your house.
thanks jilli, should have known that
Well no, Jilli - he is deceased. Or doesn't that matter?
never knew bachman had a home on SSI how nice! always loved his music with burton
doesn't matter, JC -- as I said a minute ago, sprite's choice lived in the 1600s
saw them on their last tour maybe 6 or 7 years ago...they're gonna be here again in Aug
Oh, sorry Jilli - I'm in a chat window also, and being distracted by a puppy. :)
Laura (Fauxmage in my list on Myspace) is on a messenger with me - and Babbling here, incognito. :P
And she's doing better than me! :/
laaaate flip
Hello Laura :)
hey freep
hi freep
jilli....do you have NBT's??
NBT a while ago, btw
can you help me out with the middle column E?
HAHAHA, Laura doesn't want to type in the 'chog' Jilli, because she is playing with a weird name, But, she tried to add you on MySpace . . .
stopped justy
If you log in there, on the 'Home' page (where you are when you first log in), scroll down and look on the left, and you should see a link to click, notifying you of new friend requests . . .
oooh. this looks friendly... or at least up to a point
en5/14, just (concluded -- with a fishslap, lol)
oh fish thx d**rtie
d***, I guess you've found the nice ts word :)
I need one too, Jilli - preferably with a fake/rubber fish.
so hate ce words :(
yes jilli :)
Or just a slap . . .
must pay some attention to MySpace when I have time -- sorry, Laura
She is 'Fauxmage' in my 'Friend Space' there, Jilli - you'll see her on my page. She is the one who posted that funny comment with the Richard Simmons graphic - did you see that? :P
didn't notice Richard -- really just skimmed there
Oh - well you should read the comments, Jilli - some funny stuff there. ;)
That one, and my response to it - two comments above.
Of course, you may want to slap me . . . ;)
I will, JC, soon -- but not now -- nearly bedtime
Yes . . .
I don't mean I'll slap you soon, lol...
HAHAHA!
I think you just might, Jilli - when you see my reply to Laura's comment on my page . . . :P
Oh, and I added a funny graphic to the page earlier - under the bit about shelter adoption, in the 'Heroes' section.
Should make you laugh . . .
What the text on it says . . .
Right now Jon Stewart is making me laugh
firewords
wtg Dart
YAY d***!!!
Oh well . . . glad someone is! ;)
wtg d**rtie!!
Congrats, dart . . .

Good night, dart . . .

hello mrp
hi MrP!
Morning, mrp! :)
Hi
hi osgd
Hi OSGM
What is 'OSGM"?
hi herin
Or 'OGSD'?
Hi again jilli and hello all :)
'OGSM', sorry . . .
Overseas Grandma
Over Seas Grand Ma (or Daughter)
HAHA . . .
:D
hi fm
Oh, it is?
Yep
Hi again FM -- did you have a nap?
Because I want Jill as my Grandma
Don't we all, herin? :)
Hi Just, herin et al. No went out and did food shopping and errands, now back to babble :)
and I think herin would make a lovely granddaughter
so do I herin jilli would just be the best GM
Hi FM to. Hi Jc and Just
She would, FMitch - or any relation, or friend. :)
awwww
I concur wholeheartedly :)
but jilli would be too young to be my gramdmother :)
awww
phew!
Same here, Just . . .
aunty?
Sorry but my internet is really bad.
Sure, Jilli . . . if you wish? ;)
and my typing is really bad
whatever
oh yeah fer sure
Does that mean I have to call you 'Aunty Jill' now?
Very true J.C, a lovely warm woman with so much interesting life history and experience to share with us all - esp via her icons.
shudder!
Yes, she certainly is, FMitch . . . :)
lol
Shudder? Aww, sorry Jilli! :/
I'd have to call you ACA (Across country auntie)
oh pleeze -- jilli is just fine
I'll just keep calling you jilli and you can always call me ERmintrude ;)
Bet my typing is worse, mrp - it flies out the window on a regular basis, and travels to far-away, unknown places, where perhaps they can actually read and make sense of it?! :P
and that was typed perfectly, JC
Yes - THAT was, Jilli. But I have made many typos here already, this morning.
don't we all!
JC, been there done that! Got criticized for it, moved on!
HAHA . . .
brb while I shut off horrible noise on TV
no horrible tv noise here, just the beautiful sound of balls being hit!
brb whilst i do this tax return. If we don't get the $900 if feaking kill him
Bye herin, go for it!
the tax return bit not the killing
I would prefer a good killing to doing tax return
I'd rather kill the tax man and be done with it!
Lickety did something really good today!!
he does something good everyday, mrP! :)
Oh what, what?
besides giving us the list...
Did Lickety ever realise the global effect he would have?!
I just asked him FM... he is perplexed!
awe and lol
100 to go and I'm off to bed, goodnight all
He got Foxtel IQ so now we can pause and rewind live tv, record 2 other programs whilst watching another... on all channels!! It is brilliant for the tennis!!
wow flosey you're up late!
Hi/bye flosey
night flosey -- 110 left here so far
just -- you're up later!
yes and not very smart! hope Sandy doesn't go into labour until morning
that's so nice for you mrp....only good on 1 tv tho?
yes but I am a nightowl
or a vampire
Sorry Mr but Licketys list is much more impressive than being able to watch sport (not a tennis fan and I know I am blaspheming here).
yes Mar, we have two units, but only one is IQ. I was dubious about it, but now see the love!
I'm with you, FM
they're quite expensive here...about 500 to 600 CDN
but having a gizmo like that is great, I'm told
Why so much Mar??
Enjoy watching the finals, same for football and most major sports.
if it weren't for Lickety's list, I doubt that I'd have stayed with babble. Am very glad I did though, this is the greatest group of friends. and now poof before lI fall asleep in this chair
here it's called a PVR...personal video recorder
Lickety loves to pleasure us! That is all he says!
cause our cable and satelite companies like to gouge us :(
Glad you did stay flosey.
basically they collude...cell phones too
That sucks! we have foxtel IQ free for the first year, then it is $80 per month for the Gold Package
Right, I am diving ito the grid cos I have a lot of words to find.
night, flosey, and good luck to Sandy
we are about the only country in the world where our communcations companies are so expensive
nite flosey
FM, he had to do something to get me off babble! I was spending time away from him without his fancy list!
bye FM -- I'll be off to bed before you come up for air
I agree with flosey
Nighty night the jilli, glad to have caught up with you again. lol MrP
OK, I'm off with 99 left -- goodnight all!
nighters jilli! (hugs)
Oops just realised I posted a word earlier, heads off home AKA the PB :)
night jilli...have 24 left so gonna try and finish
LOL FM! could it be that the PB has turned into a 5 star hotel by now!?
Night, Jilli . . .
The way I build it - more than likely :D
I did try an austere version of the PB a while ago but no-one wanted it.
I like the showers in there!
There are showers in the PB?
and the cabana boys ;)
Ooh, cabana boys??? *FANS SELF!* :P
oooh, love that too!! great at peeling grapes!
LOL
JC, take deep breaths...!! Haven't you been introduced to the hot tub parties??
J.C have a look at my priile and the Flickr pcis
*profile even
I remember Torgone's wife shutting down one of the hot tub parties! It got way out of hand!! LOL
Ang and Lola had a lot to answer for, eh MrP?
I believe it was Mamabear who went in nekkid??
and the rest!!!
she threw her size double D cups at torgone! He nearly died!
loooool
death by drowning in a custard jaccuzi by way of DD cups
LOL !! :D
But when Torg's wife found out... he was banned for ages! LOL!!
Torg is a tease and love to flirt.
Torg the Tease
Oh, OK FMitch - sorry, was sidetracked for a bit.
HAHAHA - that's so funny!!!
I had to click 'All Sizes' to see it full-size.
you like?
Mr PRes can i speak to you on faceboob
you like?
faceboob - now that I would join!
No, no, NO - don't feed the troll! :P
what troll?
There are so many babble references in there J.C
faceboob ! sure infern
Erm, the one the little sign in the Penalty Box picture warns everyone not to feed?
I see that . . .
It's OK herin J.C is just looking at the viual of the PB in my bio.
I see stidmama! HAHAHA . . .
Oh you got piccies again
Even the fish is there . . .
Yes, FMitch - I had to log into Flickr, in order to view the pic full size.
there are so many references, I should count them up and invent a game!
I wouldn't even know them all . . .
The references in the picture, I mean.
lol NP you have to have been aBabbler for along time to get some of them, will let you know some of them if you give me an email?
Erm, OK FMitch - I do have an extra e-mail account, made just for Babble. It is: j.c.babbler - at - gmail dot com.
Sorry - wanted to thwart spam-bots. ;)
Okey dokey - and ta, will email you a bit later once I have put this grid to bed.
Ok, thank you - I'm off now.
*WAVES bye to everyone!*
bye bye now
Hello everyone
Hello Becca. How's the little one?
Not so good at the moment - he's had a bit of a virus so grumpy and sleeping even worse than usual :o(
Not nice for him or for you!
And the warm weather will make it even more difficult to keep him cool, I suppose.
We are having a rough time of it, yes.
Oh it's horrible trying to keep him cool - he's just in a nappy and he's still too hot.
Luckily our old Victorian house is quite cool inside so that helps a bit.
I sympathise. It's not nice when you're used to having a pleasant, contented baby and suddenly he's replaced by an unhappy wee soul.
Is he still getting Calpol or was one dose of it over your clothes enough?
I just feel so sorry for him because he doesn't know what's going on and he can't say how miserab;e he is or tell me where it hurts - poor thing.
He had some last night and some neurofen too.
I've found he'll take it better from a soon, but the syringe is so much less messy at night
Hopefully that's keeping on top of things a bit. He WILL get better and probably very rapidly in the end but it's just horrible in the meantime.
I think he's nearly over it, but I think there is a tooth coming through too, which is compounding things a bit!
Is he coughing with the virus or all stuffed up?
A little bit of a cough but nothing much, and he's not stuffed up at all thankfully.
He's just hot and bothered!
Poor wee soul! Feeling hot and bothered is really not nice even when there's nothing else wrong with you.
The hardest part for me is not being able to go anywhere - I'm getting so bored!
Is it too hot to venture out at all or is he just not up to it?
Too hot to sit outside, and I'm wary of passing virus on to other babies.
We have one friend who's baby also has hte same virus so we can go to her house!
Ideally, a nice shady park nearby populated only by virus immune adults...
Hmm, where will I find one of those? LOL
How about e-bay?
LOL!
They seem to sell most things these days.
I'll have to look.
Ooh, I've just found one of my favourite words in the grid - fe6/36.
If they do have one, be prepare for a bidding war.
Have you something to tell us, Becca!?
Could turn out very expensive.
There's an se6/27 with the same structure.
No! God, no. I can barely cope with the one I've got at the moment!
You're coping beautifully - childhood illnesses are enough to try the patience of a saint.
Besides, it's far too soon for another baby. He only turns one next week.
My girls are grown but I do remember the level of frustration with having to cope when they weren't well.
Thank you Haz, that makes me feel much better, because I feel like tearing my hair out at the moment.
It has such a massive effect on al of us. Hubby and I are rowing because we're both so tired.
I know - I know the feeling but I've also had the experience of knowing that they do get better and that you'll get into a routine again.
Yes I know. I just wish I knew when!
The sort of tiredness that leaves you feeling muzzy and murderous?
Oh rats, he's awake. Bye for now.
Bye Becca. It WILL get better.
Hooray, we're in luck, a quick rock and he's back to sleep already!
And muzzy and murderous sounds about right, yes.
Uh oh, waving feet.
Good, glad he's gone back to sleep again. I don't suppose you can catch up on sleep?
I find it really hard to sleep during the day. I tend to read or play Baable to relax rather than sleep.
Better than doing housework anyway!
Dear me, you'll never get your gold star for Housework at this rate.
Of course, you can buy THEM on e-bay as well.
I can live without that particular gold star.
LOL!
Anyway, good excuse is that the vacuum will waken Grumpypants.
If only I could buy a clean house on e-bay.
And the baby might not like it either.
Ha ha!!
E-bay's bound to be interested in some of these suggestions. Can I claim copyright?
He hates the vacuum.
But he loves the robot vacuum cleaner we have (as do I).
I've seen them on TV but never in operation. Are they effective?
Not sure about claiming copyright on these ideas. You'll have to apply to the patents office
Taking a note... patents office...e-bay... instant riches.
More effective than I am. Yes, it's very good actually.
Can I claim half the takings for being your muse?
We'll have to negotiate, Becca.
BIAM
I can see you claiming money for the baby, since it's his illness that started the ball rolling.
Worked it out. Back in a minute?
I should have worked at Bletchley Park.
Yes, back in a minute. What's Bletchley Park?
It was a station during the war where they cracked codes. The film 'Enigma' was set there.
Ah, I see!
He's trying to sleep but keeps waking up a bit. I'm doing my best to keep him sleeping.
It must have been an incredible place, all those brains working flat out in an enclosed and secretive environment and with the pressure of knowing that there were lives at stake.
Sounds like hell to me.
I don't work welll under pressure. I prefer to take my time.
I don't mind a bit of pressure, but I've never had lives depending on me.
I have had the lives depending on me bit (to a small degree).
wow, that andy murray match was a sensation!
I think I'm the only person in Britain not watching the tennis.
hey becca, is baby doing better?
Did he do well?
wasn't it, mrp!!!!!
Well, Becca, if you've coped with lives depending on you, you're well able to cope with the wee one. The problem is the emotional attachment you feel.
hi movieman! It was incredible! Wish I was there!
Nearly 4 hours of edge of the seat stuff
He's getting there mrp, just grumpy and tired and too hot!
Becca, he/we came to within an inch of having a coronary! Was so close!
I'm not emotionally attached Haz - I'm emotionally welded!
grumpy, tired, hot.... must be time for a nice cool bath!
Exactly.
Wow -sounds like exciting stuff mrp! Glad no-one actually had a coronary though.
all our boys are through to the quarter finals... makes it great!
Could I have a clue for the u please?
un4/6 - on its way to being beneath
Thank you Haz
And then double the vowel at the end
dee deen
Thank you Haz. Any idea what it means? Or is it an abbreviation for grunters?
I don't know - dictionary.com yields no results.
Useless dictionary.
Or perhaps it really does mean' on its way to being beneath'
ds
Perhaps it does, Haz.
Or a mixed up pile of sand?
LOL! Took me a while to get that one.
And of course, then I tried to enter the pile of sand.
There's also the naked possibilty.
Naked sand on its way to being beneath.
You've cracked it!
You should apply for a part time job at dictionay.com. If they won't give words meanings, you will.
I'm now wondering what kind of clothes sand would wear.
*dictionary
Sandals, perhaps?
d
Dune is not in the grid but it was on TV on Sunday, interesting film.
Sandals and perhaps a towel.
Hello FM - it's also one of my favourite sc6/21.
Hello FM
oooh a sc - have a lot of those still to find. Hi Becca
da
G'd Morning Babblers! So close to deodar, yet so far away.....
Good morning Lori
Good morning Lori. You mean we won't get backwards deer dancing with Old Camelot King?
clues for the 9s plz
It was the first time I have been able to watch the film the whole way though, still not sure.
Nay, much to my great disappointment.
I think Dune is a very weird film. Haven't seen it for ages though.
You are late on parade LoriP!!
I don't have them all, movieman, two I have relate to public criticism? de9/78 and de9/72
MM, there's 2 de 9's that make a public claim that condemn
dtto Becca, but was interesting, would like to see it on a cinema screen to see the effect that the director was going for.
dtto Becca, but was interesting, would like to see it on a cinema screen to see the effect that the director was going for.
Oops, sorry. Cross postulation. :) That's all I got so far. :p
oh, just watched the episode of Dr Who where Rose and the Doctor get separated. Sad.
And two re9s with similar structure.
I may be late, but at least I don't repeat myself!
Repeat myself repeat myself repeat myself
If you can de8 someone, why can't you no**** them?
Hazaurus is frisky today....
***ignores Haz and Lori*** THat is one sad episode MrP
When you get that job in dictionary.com you can put that right, Becca.
***ignores FM ignoring me***
re9s think of Edward VIII's abdication
*giggle* and *superduperwatercanonatLori*
ac8 please?
The nu 6/7/7 is gonna' make me giggle all day. ***waits with baited breath***
There's a lot of ignorance around here.....
I tend to ignore it, naturally.
Kind of a mission impossible for those nu, don't you think?
OJK I'm going for fireworks so watch out whilst I dive into the grid pool.... you have been warned :)
Umbrella up.

***needs a mop and wet Vac to clean up the mess from FM's dive***
ta lori
Y V W
Could I have a clue for hte first e please?
ac8 - combine a high scoring card with a pleasing aroma
And then plural for ac9
Lori could you clean up my hallway while you're at it - floded with all the rain last night :o(
Or ac9/66 - the sort of perfume Mr Ventura would wear.
denty Haz
"thank you*
*flooded
You're welcome.
was that episode the last of the season (2)??
***pops by Becca's place and leaves Wet-Vac for her to use, but sorry, I don't clean***
Okay, I have to depart to do my chauffeur act - daughter's car is in the garage and she refuses to walk five miles home. Honestly, I've raised one lazy girl.
I don't want to have to do it myself Lori - I'm far too busy for that!
lol HAz and TTFN :)
Can you get Wet-Vac operators on e-bay?
In this heat, 5 miles is a loooong way.
This generation is pampered Hazaurus. 'Yer too soft for their own good. Laters.
Off we go! Bye for now.
Bye Haz.
Bye Becca - and chin up!
:o)
Clearly, that chin has been Botox-ed
Hey, are you saying my chin looks fake?
I'm just sayin' it's a bit too perfect is all..... :p
Nah, just rub the fake tan line in a bit better :)
LOL!
now, now - no bullying in the playground
I think Sol's waking up. His toes are waving!
lol, there you are. G'd evening to ya' Lynx.
Bloody hell, it's like the Mediterranean over here!!!!

Shades of Sean Connery
hey - I cleared the 9's - once they started, they just went.

Nice job Wolvie. Mornin ardilla, Wolvie
hi lorip

Lori you still here? thought you had gone off to do toer things!
hi ardilla
I am still here but not spelling well.
Still here, sending mail and stuff, you know Multi tasking. ***cough***
*grin*
*sigh*
And elave my toes out of it if you please!
lori - you can email some words to me. ;-)
Ata Hari! Mornin' sigh to you too!
ata?,?
lol Wolvie
My pup is at the vets :(
sorry to hear that ata
what's happened!!
Oh heck whats up Ata dear?
I'm trying not to laugh, but its actually very funny ... she swallowed a Mini Milk - whole. Stick included.
oh my - gotta ask tho - what is a mini milk? an ice cream bar?
so they will keep her until it passes?
what is a mini milk?
Oh for heavens sake, funny but not!
An ice lolly
dera hobbit!!
dear even!
That is such a Hobbit thing to do. Silly Hobbit
ah. it is an ice cream bar.
passes? nooooo. she's too small for a stick to go through. so! x-rays followed by endoscope to try and get it out. If they can, great, if they can't, she'll need an op to get it out
oh a popsicle
oh - I hope they can get it out without surgery.
so do I! endoscopy is bad enough!
oh that sounds awful, poor baby
*se4s healing thoughts to hobbit
so she's down there being doped up for x-rays / endo
I bet you do ata, and I agree - one of my kitties had to have surgery to remove a swallowed object a few years ago - not fun
I'm having an incredibly inappropriate response type day. I can totally picture Hobbit doing that, but the ensuing drama, not so fun until it's all a nice story in the archives.
good luck to you and the pup, ata
Morning...
lol Lori
me too, lori. I keep giggling about it. and then feeling worried. and then giggling
FM asks if I'm here, then flocks off. She's prob'ally wasting time reading mail or working. ***cough***
Ata hope it all goes well
Mornin' red
g'morning red
How'd Hobbit get ahold of the lolly dare I ask?
I'm sure it will. the amount I'm actually not *that* worried just reminds me how much I trust my vets
Good day to all!
Poor Hobbit!
she often has lollies to cool her down after a long run. she just doesn't normally try and eat them in 1 gulp!
The vet is indeed the key, and I know you have complete faith in yours. Mornin' Scrabbler!
hi red, hi scrabs!
does anyone have all the f's ? I am missing 6. was wondering the counts for types
Sure Lori - am working or babbling, whchever ....

Sorry Wolvie, I am picketing the f's, demanding fairer treatment and a raise.
;-0
***whaps FM with an envelope***
I've got all the f/s but not sure where to got to clue you Wovie.
but lynx! down on the beach was a year old lurcher. Never seen sooo much joy in running madly, circles, circles, mum! hi! woof! bark! another dog! play! play! run!

ty FM
Hi Scrabs!!
Hi FM
***Appreciates having a trained medical professional available***
I think you should change John Lennon to Noriega LOL
hi scrabbler
How about your morning medication, Lori? Did you take it yet?
gorgeous. One of my vets has a one yo Irish Wolfhound...he was taking the young assistant for a lovely romp the other day (she looked very out of control, lol)
Hi Wolvie
hi Scrabbs
Hi Red
hi Scrabbs & Red
RTH! SCRABBS!
Ardilla! How are things?
No Scrabbler, something mellow if you please, that causes me to drool but not too much. Will it be by injection or tablet form this morn? :)
Hi Ardilla
hi Ardilla. How are you?
Lori, if I do an IV dose there will be more rapid onset of action.
this lady looked rather out of control too, she was apologising madly to everyone that the pup was being a psycho. everyone was just enjoying watching it!
Hi Lynxxx
hi lynxx ata Fm
i'm okay
Just OK, Ardilla? Or better than OK?
That sounds rather reserved Ardilla. Are you back at work yet?
ortho put me in a robo-boot since one of my incisions hasn't healed yet so i'm bummed about not being able to drive
You had surgery AGAIN?
cent
sent
yet i still have to go to work
Yikes! *sprinting off to PB*

I am using the office laptop as I had to enter on call notes into electronic medical records.
so i had roughly 2 weeks of freedom before being restricted again...grrr
I have qu4, 5, 6, 6--what am I missing?
This has been going on for how long now? Over a year, right?

yah, got a nu7
i have one, wolvie...the shape
i have 2....the shape and police sq***
i have that and the group
I'll have to break out the list soon i think
just got the group
There is sonmething wrong with a grid when you just put what ever words in
funny...the shape + to move to music = a country move to music...lol
i cleared the 9's in record time, fern, those ou's are great, the ac was cute
I only got the 9's by making up words which they werent
some of them were words. ;-)
I've got 4 left al from the bottom t :(
good going FM
oh mitch, i am no help there - haven't got to them yet except the ones that just plopped out
Lynxx is that your lovely pup?
it is
good photo
it is - I can say that 'cause I didn't take it
just talked to the vet, they took an x-ray and can't see the lolly stick - so it's either right up against the stomach lining, or *somehow* she managed to spit it out or keep it in her oesophagus. I'm going to feel really really stupid if it turns out not to be there, but I would *swear* I saw her swallow it
awww he is all legs
oh boy ata - pins and needles time
morning all
what happens now Ata...they keep her for a bit?
hi carlee
Ata did your dog eat the stick? have you checked her poop?
Hi Carlee
hi Carlee
i come in on dog poop..how..."refreshing"
they'll do the endoscope anyway, it's not worth the risk that maybe she didn't swallow it. Apparently these things are often impossible to see on x-ray
hey - it's in the grid carlee
it won't make it to her poop, that's the problem!
if she chewed it up it might ata
Um can they get her to poop some how? I mean seriously
thanks wolvie..I hadn't gotten THAT far yet
lol - couldn't resist
apparently... :op
it just sort of...popped out
popped..or pooped
ok..so is ANYONe liking THIS grid?
oh man back to the grid - i was going to type pooped carlee, but i went for the laugh
NO!!!
well excuse me sorry
I've reached my magic 60
cool lynx - you are well ahead of me
good morning all, Zoe-Anne came up the steps from the basement!! she stayed for a few minutes and then went back down. I know she will come up soon to eat her breakfast. she has never been on steps before
hi peri - is zoe a new pet?
hi Soodle & Peri
morning peri

missing one of the de6,24
Ata, you still here?
Just reading back about Hobbit's misadventures.
yes! just talking to the vet!
Any news?
lolly stick removed :)
Excellent!
it was sitting half in her oesophagus and half in her stomach, they just whipped it out using the endoscope
whew!
Poor Hobbit. She's not realise for a while that that was her last lolly.
That's great that they avoided having to do a laporoscopy.
and no operation, even better.
nooooooo! I'll need to find a stick-free alternative for her
Laportomy even. Cutting her up!
oh gosh, yes. didn't really want her opened up! yes, that. lap thing. lol
You probably saved her from having that by reacting so quickly.
dear husband of course informs me that it's all my fault and I'm not looking after pup properly! *facepalm*
You can't make some milky iceblocks for her?
Was it a bit like the budgie flying into the cat's cage sort of moment?
yes ... they were very glad I brought her straight in rather than waiting till she was in pain in a few days time
yes! it was really rather funny. I passed the lolly to her, holding onto the stick, and she just *hoovered* it
Wait a few days and you'd have had a very sick dog.
You don't suppose Oscar has had a bad influence on her?
I actually left a message on Lizs facebook page telling her that her dog was a bad influence ;P
hello all..just coming out of lurking for a sce..to ask how the dog is after ..drinking the wine..i think the dog was called spangle?.
I hope she feels suitably guilty. Maybe she'll pay the bill!
he's had a bad influence on all the babble dogs!
thank goodness for pet insurance, that's all I'm saying today!
Hello zooz. Spangle is my dog <--------. She wouldn't do anything so silly! The dog you mean was a patient, my husband's a vet and I get to answer emergency calls at night and weekends.
Spangle's far too decorous
ohh..lol..sorry..totally misunderstood that day then..sorry about that. :-)
I haven't heard any more about it, I'm assuming vet on call either admitted it for a drip or advised letting dog sleep it off. She wasn't convinced it could have drunk enough wine to make it that ill, more llikely a carelessly dropped tablet of some sort.
*sitting here just sooo relieved lolly stick is out* vets are the best
No problem, zooz.
*smug* - I'm married to the best.
you are!
ok..diving back in. *Splash*
that's very sweet Haz
Well, I have to keep on the right side of him. He possesses several different methods of doing away with me if the fancy took him.
But seriously, he is a wonderful husband!
It's strange, thinking about it, there are a lot of bad doctors and dentists, but very few bad vets
I've come across a few unfortunately
There are bound to be some. There's no point being married to the best vet if they're all brilliant.
Good morning Babblers :)
hi Nono
Good morning Nono.
Ata was reading about Hobbits adventure. How long will she stay at the vets? Can you bring her home today?
ok... the T on the left... I have the russian leader... anyone care to clue the others???
Actually, on reflection, the bad ones have al been quite young. Perhaps another instance where experience is preferable
I have come accross one vet who is only in it for the money I'm afraid and not for the good of the animals
ts5.12 & 6.21 hebrew letter
ok... thanks.
Have to go again - car to be picked up. Back later. Glad Hobbit's okay.
bye bye Haz
bye Haz
bye dear! ty!
yes, Nono, I can go and get her later :)
oh good, Ata
she's in the "recovery room" now for a few hours just to wake up and chill out a bit
she will think twice about swallowing anything whole after this
for about a day ;)
lol my guess is a bit longer than that, maybe two days
maybe, if we're lucky :D
Wow, I got past 50. Goodnight all. Give Hobbit some special fussing for me Ata, so pleased it worked out OK

HI all, I am wondering iff my house will actually close today or thursday. No news today which is odd, but...
I would hope they would give you more than a day's notice, Red.
It was supposed to close today, then there had to be one more inspection, so they were trying to push the inspector to do it yesterday, I dont know if they got it done. I dont have to be there so...
Ah. Patience, grasshopper.
When she said it might be pushed back, this huge heavy weight returned to my body....I really need it to be done with apparently.
Oh and I need to change my icon, the poulter is old from Friday!
Pffth. My icon is about three months old. I should just have an icon that says, "why bother?".
hi Red. What time today was it supposed to close?
LOL... I have never changed my icon.
I have no idea, I thought 10 am, but I never heard what happened with the inspection, soooo.
well if there were something drastic found in the inspection you certainly would have heard about it
Probably no worries, Red. Unless termites, carpenters or plumbers show up at your door - wanting you to sign a repair contract.
I like to change the icon.
All of the mess of repairs and such have been taken care of over the past month, it was very very messy, complicated and difficult, so I am very worried that more complications will come up, until that line is signed, I wont feel really good about it.
I can certainly understand that Red
Especially after the Septic...
ewwwe definitely messy
So, Hopefully I will get a call around 11 or so...
Ewwww. I remember having septic at our first house. It backed up. We had it pumped out. It immediately filled with water again. We ended up having to have most of our back yard dug up to install about 300 feet of drainage tile. Nightmare.
keeping my fingers crossed for you Red
I think all is well, there was a crack discovered in the tank, so I am replacing the tank, but I never had any issues with the septic doing any of those things that seem to be the biggies, yuck Judi.
de
finally found a nine!
It was hell. Financially more than anything. Plus, it was the middle of winter (December - right at Christmas time. Joy!). Then in the spring, we had to have grading and re-se4ing done. I cried more than once.
Septic can be very bad. I some how managed to get out of re-landscaping the mess, probably cause the tank was a little pricy.
4 of the 5 9's much alike red
I finally found 2 of them... yay!
I have the re 9.
We are very thankful for having municipal water and sewer now. I happily pay the small bills.
ok 2 re9's one past tense one pl. the other 2 are de9
I am also thanksful not to be doing septic any more, its always a bit of a liabiliuty.
Okay - I'm off to do some real work. BBL.
ok... now Ihave 4 of them 2 re's and 2 de's... what does the other one start with?
bye Judi
thanks Nono and see you later Judi!

they have a big July 1st picnic bash in his Mom's backyard - her hubby has been doing this prob. about 25 years, so lots of running around to get this ready and hoping baby will be at least a few days old by then - this year will be celebrated Saturday July 4th - fortunately!!

yes Dorens, still waiting
ad + not a verb.
ad and person place or thing
morning crossy. Me too flosey, ours is due date july5, you?
believe it or not im acually out of bacon today!! gasr!!..the horror!
damn typos
OMG Cross, will you be alright? I have a veg sausage if that will help...
ty cheryl:)
due date was June 25
yw
so we're just getting a bit anxious
oh my, so you are really waiting... best of luck
Veggie sausage! Are you trying to kill Crossy!
thanks Dorens, everything has gone well so far
they waited for my wife to go the full 2 week over before they induced
its all I have!
My middle son arrived three weeks late - and I actually knew date of conception on him, so you never can tell!
babies can be stubborn!
I just bought 3 lbs. of wonderful bacon - no trigliserides & such (spelling??)
veggie saussage...shudder...
indeed rbud, they come when they're good and ready
chicken sausage can be truly deliciious
mine oldest was 2 weeks late, and came out looking like an old man with dry peeling skin
Popping in at random... no triglycerides? Is it even really bacon??
absolutely real, you wouldn't taste any difference, it's still pork, etc
crossy had NEVER read the ingedients of a pound of bacon...its all good;)
mine had normal skin at 3 wks. late... fat and sassy
we had not eaten bacon for prob. 10 or more years so was thrilled to find this one
as long as its pork;0
cook it right and it tastes good and is safe
Hmmm. Bacon is all bad. That's why we love it. Must be the fat, nitrates and msg.
that's the way we're thinking Dorens, a few extra days can help really
crossy.. you need to know about the grateful palate
no nitrates in this either
ill pick up 4 or 5 poinds of maple and hickory smoekd bacon goodness on my way home tonight;)
he sells gourmet bacon from around the world.
mmmm, bacon weave coming on?
damn typos!!
I love bacon dipped in real maple syrup. I think I gained a po5/16 just saying that.
(breaks out bread and tomatoes and lettuce
hope mine doesn't come too late... i will be on vacation with Ken's family on the 11th... now that i realize this one could be late, I am beginning to worry
nothing beats fine canadian bacon..we dont need it gorumet;)))
we found this at the Whole Foods store - they carry a lot of organics - you can google it and find locations
your bacon and our bacon are two different things crossy
Oh lordy, Lots of food talk.
course I love both
oh soprry for you americans, when i say bacon im talking bout bacon cut in long strips that are hicory smoked with a hint of mapel..our peameal is a lean log of back bacon rolled on corn meal
I found that what the Americans call "Canadian bacon" is not something I would eat,
damn typos!!!
I love peameal bacon
Never heard of peameal. Sounds good though.
remember my american friend, all canadian bacon is not peameal
( I am bacon knowledge challenged apparently)
yeah, canadian bacon down here reminds me of a little round slice of ham and I only encounter it on pizzas
sounds good
I have not actually eaten bacon in soooo long....
true but it is good on pizza wth pineapple too
you have been sadly deprived of real bacon then rbud;(
that's the one I think I had rbud, it was round and very salty
ours is usually hickory or misquite smoked and sliced then fried in a cast iron skillet or on a griddle till brown
ad 6 anyone?
ad + part of speach (break down a sentence)
ad and part of speech
just changed my icon to reflect today's icon theme
great one nono
Nice nono. I changed mine and have to say I am not fond of our famous man.
hello
I have read some of Koontz' books, red, they all seem much the same so I tend to agree about his writing skills
oops, misspelled twice!!! **speech**
hi Jane
It's a bit embarassing Nono when I meet big Dean Koontz fans, because i think hes such a hack, though he has sure made a good living on being a hack.
what has he written? i'm always looking for books i can take backpacking---and burn the pages as i finish them!
99 left whooo Hoooo!
he has written many books that made best seller list but as I said many of the seem the same
179
thank you got the ad finally
62 left here
clue for the en's?
to each his own red, obviously some people like him - and they're reading!
harp, he writes thrillers of lesser quality than steeven King, and I think they are trash.
I agree red, they lack in a lot of areas
Yah, Koontz always writes the same-old-same-old. Each book is just a re-tread. I read about three of his books and couldn't stand the deja vu.
so i wouldn't break anyone's heart if i burned it one page at a time?
red, did your house close?
not at all jane
have never read him - can't judge
well red, heard anything yet
Better to recycle, Harpjane. Less of a carbon footprint and all that p.c. crappola.
I agree.. all his books follow the same path
No Nothing...
it's a question of weight when you are backpacking....
Mixi, its supposed to close today or thursday. there was a reinspection.
Nothing, so I assuem its going to happen on Thursday.
somewhere a cow just farted and belched near you judi
sounds good.
No doubt, ruru. Some day, cow farts may fuel the world.
no kidding old farts rule our senate
I am a little nervous mixi, but I think I am almost done.
Uh oh, ruru. Dangerously close to veering into politcal debate. Abort! Abort!
back to bacon
yeah, always nervous until they sign on the dotted line.
my dad used to tell us he could heat the house for the winter with cow farts if he could only figure out what to do with the smell lol
Lunch time. No politics here....
If you drive by Mixi, they are diggin up the yard because the septic is being replaced.
my tank was fine, I have a new septic field.
Stupid Q's. Just finished them. Patooie!
My tank was cracked.

Just another mystery in the life of Babble.
fe 6/33 # 2?

There is an fe6/36.

Good morning/afternoon all.
Hiya, Haz!
Hi
Hi Haz!
Hello there!
am about to go out to the poast office but thought I would say hello first.
Oh - prepare yourself for the heat!
I'm sure the US and Aussie people think we're terrible wimps. What sort of temp do you have at the minute, Judi?
fireworks
Congratulations mixi.
Hellishly hot here, 87 acording to my office thermometer.
Much fanning required, I' m sure.
yup.
105 here
Oh good grief. We'd better stop moaning, FM.
do you have humidity though?
we don't
If you mean, are our cheeks glowing and our clothes wet - YES!
Do need to go to the local post box, so TTFN.
See you later, FM.
happy stamping FM
lovely cool day here, nice break after the hot and humid last week
ro 5/10?
nm
jeez....
kept looking up
r+oa4
ru you sounded so desperate!
Oh, happy day. Fireworks!
yay, Judi!!!
Mmm. Temp here is about 85-ish at the moment. Standard fare for June.
thanks joan.. i found it right away
Same yesterday, although it cooled off blissfully last night.
Cat was belly up on the deck. Didn't want to come in.
Time to poof. Work work work!
Bye Judi.
Hi Everybody. I need help with that right N so I can have NBT for now. DH wants me to go buy some paint so we (I) can start our bedroom, but I want NBT before I leave. Could someone help please?
Hawiian goose
ne4/4 - light
Or nu6/24 - slight variation in meaning
nope the *other* RIGHT N please (I'm a lefty and do that all the time!) :-)
u clue w/ur other left as well...lol
ne+ not bottom
the nu6/24 came from the middle N (working on the ne4 now
The very far right n? no4/4 musical or written
no4/5 - not an adjective nor a verb
Thanks Haz! I got it! Love you guys! Happy babbling! BBL!
Bye Nef!
the only word I found so far was the light ne4/4 Haz; I had all of those other words clued and that was the only one that gave me NBT
Yes, sorry I didn't check which n gave which word.
BYE now (found 1 or 2 more; DH now hunching over me trying to pull me out of the chair! ;-)
Hi Babblers can anyone clue the de7 please .. either of them I don't have either ;-)
I have my pup back!
de7 - go down
de7 - to condemn (incorporate the imperian weight)
Hooray, Ata - is she a bit dopy?
Sorry, that de7 is a de8.
Thanks Haz got all three from that ;-)
de7/40 - to go down , de7/36 the going down.
You're welcome, Norma - the mistake paid off.
It did indeed tyvm
very dopy!
she's on my bed, with a fan nearby. she can sleep it off for a while
That sounds ideal. Had she had any food before she was seen this morning?
luckily, no. or maybe a mouthful at the most. very convenient
sa 6/21? please
That was good! A dopy pup is one thing, a sick dopy pup is another.
sa6/21 - sa plus a mixed up verse producer
Or to tree liquid add mixed up foot digit.
thank you haz
You're welcome.
oh yes :) she'll be fine. she had the vets and nurses amazed though - she was literally running around and bouncing with this stick stuck in her oesophagus. no gagging, coughing, nothing. if I hadnt' seen her swallow it, no-one would have known from her behaviour
That's strange - I'm always schooled, when people say, 'I think the dog has something stuck in its throat' - it will be going completely daft, not just coughing a little.
but "I've got a stick stuck in my throat" daft, not "omg! I love you! people! bounce! wiggle! wiggle more!" daft
Yes, frantic 'get this thing out of my throat' daft.
yes! nope. nada. not a sign.
Your Pollyanna moment for the day was that you were there to see it go down, otherwise it would have been a different story in a few days time.
se 6/27?
I am so so grateful for that!
se6/27 - same structure as the fertile fe6/36
though I really didn't realise how serious it was. I did learn that today
yeah!!!!!!!
thanks haz
You're welcome, ruru.
I've met 7 cocker spaniels, 1 Welsh springer, and 1 English springer today between beaches and vets
also a standard poodle with a pompom for a head, rotties, dobermans, an 8 week collie pup
Does the ac8 build on the ac4 above it?
It does, DR - add a coin.
and! oh, poor pup, a staffie who did *not* want to see the vet. Eventually the vet and his owner had to physically pick him up and carry him - rigid as a board - over to the consulting room
You've had a doggy day, indeed!
ty Haz!
You're welcome, DR.
I now have all the 9's. : )
Poor staffie. I wonder why he was so much against being there?
TY!
I have! It's been lovely in a way! I have *no* idea. But he left claw drag lines in the flooring
You're welcome, car.
It would make a good cartoon, Ata.
ok... back to work .. bb in a bit... I have 111 left
BYe DR.
it really would have done! It was classic James Herriot material
sp7?
sp7 - to do with poetry. One vowel short of what the dish ran away with, add the ending of Volleymom's name.
hello all, the cats are getting along!
Good news,peri!
hi peri great news
yay peri!
now Zoe-Anne needs to come up to eat. she did come up the stairs for the first time last night and half way this am.
weird ... thanks haz
I have left water at the bottom of the steps tho.
she will
I was sure that she would die behind the old oil heater. she was without food for 3 days. She seems fine tho
No problem, ruru.
she had never done steps before
are the 8's and 9's normal words?
4 are
Normalish - or at least 4 out of the five nines are normal.
of the 9s
Ummm...who is Volleymom and what is at the end of her name?
hmmm, only 4, well I will try and find them,. turned in my keys to the old apt this am :(
She has the fourth letter in the alphabet...
are they comound words, the long ones?
TY!
ac8/50 - add a coin to high scoring cards
found a tr8 by myself
thanks Haz, odd word
There are 2 of them peri!
No, peri, not compounds - the four normal ones all include an imperial unit of weight within the word.
what is an imperial unit of weight?
ton?
And then plural for ac9.
or the ou5?
No, less than a po5/16
ou5
duh, did not think to pluralize thanks Haz
Metric units of weight are kilos, imperial are things like po5 and ou5.
the tr8 I found has the ou5 in it
May I please have a clue for the second column E....need it for NBT. Thanks!
thanks Haz, did not know that
16 ou5s in a po5
en7 - is one, or en7 - en plus the unit of weight.
peri, 2 tr8s like that
en7/32 - the last melody played?
thanks Haz,
dc, will look again, thanks
thanks Haz
You're welcome.
have both tr8, thanks
I must head off to get some food ready. Happy babbling!
hey haz, just came back on to finish up - those clues were timely. ty
TY for your help Haz.
You're welcome -Byeeee!
hello all - second fe 6/33 - any help please!

dipp - type of grass
Don't be ofFE**** if I don't say hi!

hello everyone!
hi annie
hello, Annie
hello
Hi!
hi annie
I read back in the chat and I see peri's cat emerged from behind the oil tank. Good news.
hello hello
oh yes, that is good. it was sort of inevitable, yes? when cats are moved, it takes them time to come out, but they always do
hi lisa
hi doren
moving is a big adjustment for a cat. sometimes for a human too.
dorens, are you planning any trips this summer?
Well, I shut down the chat. :(
no annie. i'm here.. just was on phone sorry
*smiles a smile of relief*
gloucester mass this friday for three days... then martha's vineyard for a week in july with ken's family, then back up again for a week in august with mine. lots of trips to mass... and a new grandchild sometime in the next week
lisa... your turn on lex
busy, busy, it all sounds great
k
wake up little susie
annie, how is your daughter doing? owl said we might not be able to meet up with you this summer as we had planned
everly bros
dorens, she is fine but I am in a soft cast for a couple of weeks. I am embarrassed to say I fell down a flight of stairs in her house. I can get around but not the way I would like to.
sorry about than, Annie .. hope you are better soon
thanks, BR
oh so sorry... friend of mine fell down a flight of stairs and broke his neck... in hospital for months, when he left he was wearing this halo contraption to keep his head aligned properly. so, even tho you have certainly suffered, I'm glad you are still around and babbling! heal well
Oh my goodness. Yes, I was very lucky. I just sprained my ankle badly.
He is just getting back to work this month. executive director of a very successful nonprofit and his work is his life... they need him and he needs them. so glad he survived it all. and your ankle will heal quickly with all our good wishes -- babblers are a powerful group
k i have to go everyone my goal was to get all the 8's and 9's before i had to go and i did :) so ill be back on later tonight bye
thanks for the ankle support. yes, babblers have awesome powers. I feel it.
bye, sec!
be praying for you annie
hi all, back for a bit
thanks, cherly and hi
bye sec. Annie, did you read Bel Canto by Ann Patchett?
sprained my ankle earlier this year and so know what you mean about getting along
hi cherlyq
No I did not, dorens. Should I get it out of the library?
hi dorens
it was really good... i am now reading another, earlier book of hers and enjoying it too, but bel canto was excellent. Also, particularly since you're a new yorker, The Alienist by Caleb Carr.. some historical fiction/detective stuff... even has Teddy Roosevelt in there
the Iroquois is back in the grid
The Iroquois? babble you get more and more enigmatic
oh! i just realized what you mean, sorry
dorens, thanks for the suggestions. will do. I am reading short stories now. Nothing Right by Antonya Nelson is excellent and am reading short stories by Joyce Carol Oates
hi all! Dorens, would you play me a game of lex?
very good short stories by Jhumpa Lahiri... she has had several published in The New Yorker.. she wrote The Namesake... but her last collection of stories, Unaccustomed Earth is particularly good. and now i'm done with recommendations
oh chic of course i would!
yay I'll start one ; my is carol btw.
what's your facebook name? (i'm terrible at remembering these things these days)
Yes, I read The Namesake and I subscribe to The New Yorker and I believe a read a story by Lahiri.
carol ashton, dorens
thought so annie... so unaccustomed earth will have one or two familiar stories... the last three are all related and at least one of them had been published, but it seems different in this context. She is a breathakingly good writer
i think we need to "friend" each other then
I agree, dorens about lahiri.
morning every one, Lahiri gets better with each book, The Namesake as a movie , i thought was better than the book
as a matter of fact.. i only have twenty words left, and I think I am going to take my book down to the lake and finish it. it's the kind of book I've gotten into sufficiently that I care about characters and want to know what's happening with them! then I need to go into the city.. meeting my daughter for dinner
bye, dorens, enjoy your day
sounds wonderful dorens
funny onyx, i felt the total opposite.. maybe cause my kids live in cambridge, so I had good visuals while reading the book, and they changed that for the movie. I just really enjoy her use of language, she does so much with only a few words.
I'm having trouble getting it started; says you are not on my friends list
ok, that's it... bye everyone, happy babbling
by dorens
bye dor
Bye dorens

good afternoon all
Hi Boo
yep nicer than yesterdays
I think I have left my brain at work!
lol Katie..
don't work so hard Katie;
on the bright side at least I bothered to take it to work!!
:)
we are in the middle of a big bidding process, and then Gordon Brown gives us another £1.5 billion!!
clue for ap 7
past tense of ap5
that helps. My brother told me about a new "incentive program" at his workplace. Someone put up a sign saying "work or get Fired"
past tense of what you wear to keep clean when cooking
ty
lol nef
wow nef, that might get them going
we have had to 'map' our holidays for the next 3 months, you should have se** the rush to get them booked Monday morning
where I used to work, we'd have to put in for vacations 6 months in advance. There were a lot of times people didn't get vacations because of that
wow i would not be pleased with that. We get loads of holidays (7 weeks) so have to try and spread them across the year or we have to take December off
that's one of the big differences between Europe and the US. Here we *might* get 2 weeks off
it was funny on honeymoon we worked out that they were all being snotty about us having a 'small' wedding (90 people is large over here) so we got our own back about the amount of holiday we got
We haven't had a vacation in about 4 years; hubby retired in 2006 but I've had an injury and then 2 job changes; so we are at the point of being stir crazy here
we get 6 holidays at work and 2 weeks vacation once you worked a year
hello everyone
hi west
I think everyone has to get 25 days here
hi west
In Canada the law says you must have 2 weeks holiday each year. After 5 years at the same place it goes up to 3. I think you get 4 after 10 years but by that time I have already burned out and moved on.
got a message on FB that Inge is trying to get in touch is she here?
hi nef
and katie and cherl
hi bugs too
I get 35 days plus another 1 1/2 at Christmas and then bank holidays as well so that is another 7 days
was on earlier, west, she wants to ask you a question for info she said
Hi Westford
I think she left, west.
okay I can email her
mine is exceptionally good though. with the new company I will be going down to 30 days, 3 days at christmas and 7 bank holidays but will also be able to take 6 'flex' days a year if I put in the hours (which I do anyway) so should end up with more not less
Yay .. Just 263 to go ..Whee ..
go tor go
anyone seen oodles recently
hi tor
Hello, westford! :)
65 left here
hi JC it's been months !!
or seems like it
Erm . . . months must be very short where you are then, westford? :P
the older you get the faster time flies lol
Hmmm . . . well yes, that's certainly true. ;)
hello, have ac9, help with other nines pls
today we have sun a rare occurence around these parts lately
Oh, is it ?
we have had a lovely day here but I need to go to London tomorrow and the tube will be hell in this heat.
hi peri think of what a ball does and use that ending for the rest of the 9's
peri, the only 9 I have is re9/72
We have sun intermittently - it went dull for a while, clouding over a couple of times, but not for too long.
we've had more rain since 1903
Yes, it's muggy!
you can keep 'muggy'
It's not actually the heat, it's more the stickiness that's making it feel so uncomfortable - without that, it wouldn't be too bad.
oh please no 6/18 is a word? ;-) new one for me
thanks nef, that got me re9x2
we had a massive storm last night, put out the tv and everything, luckily just sunny today
yes, I am grousing

the other ts is the 18th Hebrew letter: ts + opp of happy + vowel, and plural

There is alot of big words in this grid
peri just looked at your profile. my massage is very much energy based - chakras and chi.
and hi all
hi dinok
boo - a lot of them very similar to each other.
hi dinok
hi dinok
yes i see that Wolvie
any clues please for ce 6 21
hi inge I was just replying to your email
OK, going to read up now
sounds like a dollar figure cherly
or slang for one
ty wolvie
dinok. when you give massages, do you absorb negative energy?
sorry boo - i thought you were asking. :-)
not really, u use the person's own energy to heal them. but you have to take care and protect urself...
bigger problem is empathy. sometimes I can 'take on' the pain of a client if i really want to heal them.
bbs
bye westford
ok. My DIL just graduated (before having the baby) and said that she absorbs negative energy so can't do too many massages because of this. I thought she was nuts because I've given a lot of massages (as a nurse, wife and mom) and never felt I was absorbing negative energywas
(sorry, don't know where that "was" came from
I've even done thera peutic touch and never felt like I absorbed negative energy; wondered if that was true or not
different therapists react differently. Early on I was more affected by negative energy. when u first work, if you are an open person, u use your energy to heal, which is draining
now THAT I agree with!
Westford, I left the ball in his court. Thanks for responding.
the secret is to use their energy. unblock and move it around. I just figured out DIL!...
The news of the shooting in Detroit? The Lutheran HS our kids attended was near there. We moved to the suburbs 15 years ago.
LOL! Dinok; I thought that was a common abbreviation! :-)
She should take a few drops of frankincense in her palm before a client, breathe it in, and then cover her solar plexus for a few moments, taking deep breathes
I'll suggest that to her. Thanks
yvw. I hav to go do kiddie things. bbl
bye! (I suppose I should go paint now too.) :-/

Hi, westford, after all our work, my Foxboro friend wants to wait for his Providence IT man. His computers are with Comcast.
lol wolvie
thanks, west - I was away for a few minutes. Did I say I was going to relax? I can't believe they just called me from work with a crisis that MUST BE RESOLVED right now (not really, but some people have no sense of proportion)

my boss once tracked me down on the CA/OR border to ask where she put a file
she was notorious for losing things
that was BC before computers
I was with someone at a meeting whose boss called (from about 100 miles away) to ask her to call Human Resources - p.s. the boss and human resources were in the same building, one floor apart!
the peter principle at work lol
I'm going to make sausage and peppers for dinner tonight Frank Sinatra's special recipe
that's amazing, west! I have the very same dinner menu!!
(don't know about Frank Sinatra - I use my mother's recipe)
it's been so cold and rainy I thought that would be a good thing to make
now it's warm and sunny but I'm going to make it anyway
Frank probably got his from his mother too
cold and rainy here too, just hearing thunder
summer is having a hard time getting here for good
thats cause we have had it for about a month already west
though got to admit today its nice
would be nice if we could tr*** for a few days cherl
only 72
that is nice !!
saturday it was 04
yuck lol
oops 104
I knew that lol
has it ever been 4 ?
no we get in the 20's now and then
that's pretty cold
how's your car doing? did you get another one?
nope, I am on foot or bus now
have to wait till tax time to buy a car
saves on gas anyway
yes, that is true
prices going up again
bus pass is only 30 a month
15 for dd
that's really good

thanks kj, and if lthe baby holds out for 10 hours he'll be my bestest bd gift
he will be anyway
i dont want no**** of that, or plural of no 44
oops second no 44
only in Tennessee: A Hendersonville woman faces felony charges after an officer discovered her driving through a parking lot with two children on the hood of her car.
aha, and fireworks, just in time!
yay, flosey!!!!!!!!!!!!
time to go, hope I'll have news at flip time tonight
exciting time for you, flosey! :-)
hate to say it but we had a similar case in texas, she killed her 14 yr old then said it was his fault for falling off the hood
sure is Une, our other grandson is 11
first one one the west coast too
evening all = how are tonight and what a nasty little grid tonight - i am really struggling atthe minute
ohmygosh, cherly, that's even worse
yeah flosey
hope all goes great, flosey!!
bye flosey will keep you all in my prayers
bfn folks and thanks west, much appreciated
lack of common sense seems to run world wide amongst some people I guess
i'm just glad someone reported it to the police!
my theory is its always been that way we just here it more often now because of more media access
so true
hear it
and I wanna strangle the idiots who leave their small children in a sweltering car
cherly whats in you pic
my poodle, shes tera and 9
she needs a hair cut bad
there was a case here a few years ago where the baby boiled and died the paramedics that tried to save it said the car probably got to over 100
she is cute - is she one of the naughty ones - we had one years ago - looked like butter would melt but she was a little bugger
oops wouldnt
our police do a safety case every year in summer as it gets soo hot down here
she sometimes forgets she's old and acts like a puppy
and she can get into things if you turn your back for sure
we have warnings and everything but people still ignore them and leave babies and doggies in their cars
when its 104 like saturday the inside of a car can be close to 200 degrees
our learnt to nudge the fridge door open and we had booby tr** it
she and the cat conspire sometimes to get into the dog food
it does make you wonder - the ones that really get me are the ones who go on holiday and leave the kds at home
have to keep up high
yep, remember hereing a story in ky about a family that left a child behind, she was in the bathroom
went a hundred miles before they relised it
course they had 6 kids
just had to refresh i am on 57 and taking it easy. here some have just left them at home with food in fridge - 3 t o5 year olds!!
this seems t obe deliberate
man now that is neglect
if I leave my 14 at home for the day I make sure she has phone, food and someone to ck on her, thats just for when I am at work
people need to learn to slow down and enjoy their kids they only get one chance to raise them
my son is 30 now and lives with my mum but he has lived with my folks since he was 9 as i had to move away for work and it wasnt feasible for him to come with me
man in Dallas left son in back of car at train station, he was running late for work and forgot his son was in car, asleep
by the time his wife realized it and found child he was dead
it's amazing to me to hear about bus drivers who close down for the nite, leaving a child inside
somebody here had their car stolen with baby in the back - she was dropping of something and they just grabbed it - or else they accosted her when she was at the lights
cherly, that's horrible!
dallas wants to put car alarms in cars for that reason
that's happened here to, cherly
he was on suicide watch for days
poor bugger - its must be a terrible thing to live with
right now they tell people if they put baby in car leave your breafcase or bags in back too, so when you open the back to get them out you see the baby
but back to the grid and the lovely ss and rs

hi, scrab
Hi TNC--how have you been?
How old are your kids now?
pretty good - crazy busy, but school is out so I should have some time
Crackers will be 4 in two weeks and Tea will be 6 in 7 weeks
Getting big!
Big kids and very fun ages!
I cannot wait until Crackers hit four - the threes have been terrible
terrible horrible!
Be tough. Draw the line. Be calm and in control. Have memorable consequences.
I think I have more gray hair from the last year than from ever before!
thank you though - we are trying!
Scrabbler - in the Olympics you come in first, se**** or third. Just change the vowel. That should work for you
Make sure the yknow that you are in control.
Aha, I was trying the 2nd vowel and didn't see the last vowel
hi, all
wow, hi T&C!
Hi Pam!
howdy, pam!
scrabs!
howdy une.... rafa today?
hi, pam - how are you!
well, T&C, you?
doing well, thank you!

Hello all! Was wondering if there are any dog owners here. I have a dog question. Took my dog to get his hair cut and was wondering if it is customary to tip.
I didn't look closely'; I guessed, wrongly!
tending to him bum knees
Hi, min!
Yes, tipping is customary
Hi Min
oh, i've never tipped, min . . .
Tendonitis in both--ouch!
hi Pam
I know you tip for people, but do you tip for dogs too?
LOL, une, guess she has both opinions! hi, sue
I do, min. Not vets, but grooming
never occurred to me to tip at the vet's office . . .
oh, ok, groomer separate from vet's office . . . makes sense
I don't tip vet or techs. I have tipped for grooming, when not done at the vet's
my ex is a hairstylist who gets BIG human tips :-)
It never occurred to me to tip at vets either since I don't even tip my own doctor.I tipped $5.00 to get a dog haircut today. Was that too much or too cheap.
sounds right, min
I think any tip is appreciated, especially these days!
true, pam!
Good evening all just got over half 130 to go. Could I have a clue for ac9 please? I have all the other nines except that one.
I hate tipping the car mechanics!I do not think they deserve it since they're a rip off & try to rip you off.
hi, marc
plural of ac8, marc . . . top card + aroma
Hi Marc Freeman! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
I think that rewarding friendly and excellent service is always good.
Hi Sue and Marc
Hi pam and min. I am fine. thanks I will try
Hi Scrabbler
I am generous to the goddess who cuts my hair... in that I always tip 20% and somewhat more around the december holidays. I don't go often--10-12 weeks between cuts, but I love what she does.
Une is the aroma part a word of its own?
yes
Got it thanks
yw ;-)
any hints on the E's in the second row second column I cannot seem to get one of them?
30 to go . . . BBL to finish *poof*
I have no4 of those either, Marc
en7/32 is citations at the back of a book
There are 4 of them but can't seem to even monkey any of them
en 7- blurb at the end of the chapter rather than at teh foot of the page

hey, BR :-)

hello, Une
Hi all - for the E's take the de8/55 and leave off the d
bless you, BR!!!!
Thanks got that one and all the rest thanks again
I went to a website that claims Michael Jackson's IQ is (was) 110. I wonder how they came up with that #?
good evening babble friends!
Hello Dianne! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hi Trifioso! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
hello min
Doing good Min. Have the day off so what can be bad?
dianne, your profile is so cute - love the line about deli. tee hee!
Hi Trif
Trif - now you've made me hungry!
hey there, my fave ped! how was it in the trenches today?
btw, my girls have their fun-time visit to their doc tomorrow. both are due for shots....sigh.
hey everyone back for my last 54 words
secooper!!!! yay
I have 123 left here :(
trif booya!!!!
Not bad--saw a kid that tested positive for H1N1--cough is worse so I ordered a chest X-ray--> pneumonia. I am hoping she does not worsen!
Hello secooper! How are you doing? Welcome to grid!
Hi cooper
oh, dear scrabbler! did you have to report it to public health?
hi, tri and diane and secoop... I keep wandering...
UGH, sorry, scrabs!
hello minveryork and scrabbler! dont worry the 8's and 9's are incredibly easy trif
hi pam
hey, that's AUNTIE trif to you, missy!
okaayyyyyy AUNTIE trif! :)
All positives are reported--she was tested at the children's hospital on Friday. 2 local kids have died at the children's hospital in the last 10 days, one 15, one 9--previously healthy kids. So everyone is anxious around here, parents and docs. There are 7 more very ill kids at the hospital.
so scary; especially since it has kind of vanished in the news
Because H1N1 is a novel virus we are only just learning its behavior.
It's spreading quite a bit here and so far one child has died.
Could I get a clue for fa6/33, please?
need that 1 too
think of the sa 6/24 for pasta.
thnx dianne
Where do you live, Dianne?
Hong Kong
I just passed halfway! Finally.
hey Dianne how Lenny?
How are the boys?
Wow, so what time is it there now? Have you always lived there?
Hi Marc - he's great, thanks. How are things with you?
"Boys" are great. One in LA and one in Australia.
Really good. Kids are great and Jonathan is out of Iraq and working at the Pentagon
is anything proving helpful against the h1n1 scrabbler?
Mark written any great screenplays yet or is he still working for you guys?
Any way Dianne can't figure out your clue for fa6/33 any other hints?
That's- it's great news Marc. Scrabbler - it's around 9:15 am Wednesday.
try this, marc: water comes out of the fa6, but change the last letter
Thanks a liitle thick
Good clue Trif.
not at all! it's a strange word....
ugh, I am so grid locked. just keeping typing the same stuff over and over....
are you using the list?
Hello all, I am going to rudely interrupt Chat to announce that all my house selling papers were signed today and tomorro the Deed will be filed and I will finally be rid of that money pit!!!!!
not yet, secooper.
HOORAY FOR RED!!!!!
fe6/36, please
its a lot easier with it and ya red!!!
I dont think its really sunk in yet...
I was checking e-mail. Yippee Red! What a relief!
I am starting to feel really good, cautiously good.
Congratulations, RED!!!!!
get a good nights sleep red you've earned it
Glad you are allowing yourself to enjoy the moment!
Thanks all. I appreciate all the anxiety that Babblers put up with over the past months.
fe6/36?
Trif---best prevention for any illness = live in air-filtered bubble. Realistically: avoid sick people, wash hands before bringing hands to face, get enough sleep, eat a healthy diet
washing hands and avoiding touching your face....amazing how often we stick our fingers in places after they were stuck in other places...
I noticed you are a pediatrician Scrabbler, my wife is a doula,
where are you on the gardisil shot, scrabb, pro or con?
Hi redturtlehead! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Good for her, Marc---new mothers need lots if support.
Hi Minver.
Yay red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
fe6/36?
Hi Torgone! and thanks..
that is so true, red and scrabs! People think nothing of doing whatever then rubbing hteir eyes. And we wonder why so many contact lens wearers have issues
ho, torgone
Hi torgone! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Marc - fe6/33 is hard to clue (for me anyway). It means fruitful.
scrabbs did you see my gardisil query perchance?
I am sure I got my recent flu, which apparently I was supposed ot be tested for H1N1 but I didnt know, so I didnt, by not washing hands enough and rubbing my nose.
Marc, as your Doula a word for fertile!
err, ask. Sorry.
Trif---there is a sure way to avoid infection. And the reality is that about 50% of people ages 15-35 are infected, so chances of acquiring it are high. Condoms cannot prevent transmission. Random, casual sex with multiple partners is a sure way to catch it.
marc: f + s**ond place + not over but ***er
thanks scrabbler
I am going to allow myself to list.
clues for the nu's?
nu + d**** the night away...
And now HPV is recognized as a leading and increasing cause of oral/throat and anal cancer. Certain behaviors do have potentially terrible consquences.
Help with the U words please?
I agree, but I wonder if I should leave the choice up to secondo, when she is an adult....
Thanks got it, pam, I don't know Red what Doula means but maybe Scrabbler does. I have to go now. Thanks all ofr the clues
I have to say, scrabs, I think gardisil makes sense...
yw, marc!
So, to summarize, Trif---educate your girls, encourage respect for themselves and their health, and get the vaccine.
ty, Pam, got them
well said, scrabs!
Bye Marc
yw, python
I have heard a lot of conflicting info - it only prevents 3% of infection, it is mostly a victory for the pharm company, etc.
I don't know what doula means, but I need one
I think information enables young women to make empowered choices, including an affirmative no. I am so sick of information filtration that renders them incapable.
i got the shots
Goodbye Marc Freeman! I'll see you tomorrow maybe.
Trif, the current vaccine covers 70% of current strains.
isn't a doula a birthing assistant?
primo
Hi pythonx! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
primo's gf's mom is a doula also, and she works like CRAZY - she is so so so busy!
Hi python
hi, minveryork, i'm good
hi scrabs
U word help please? That is my only blank tile.

un5 is slang for panties
Ok, got that un5

Clues for the last fe 5,18 please?
Hello pugmama763!How are you? Welcome to the grid
Hello Bugsaw! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
I wish I were in but alas I am out ..
wait, careful to whom you say that in SF, tor!
Hi Min. I seem to be typing in the same ones all the time but even Lickety doesn't have the last fe5,18
I'm not in SF .. I'm in SD ..
Don't have it also Bugsaw as well as 101 other words.
Completely different ..
oh, well then, be OUT all you want, pet!
I have 45 left Min so sometimes I can help others as they help me
thanks all! I got it!
Not that kind of out ..
Hi all. The last fe5/18 is a Scottish law word. fe + textspeak for 'not me but ***' + first 2 letters of plural of 'I am'.
Thanks Bugsaw, but I gave up on the grid at 6:46 P.M
Hi everyone!
(i.e. 'you ***')
LOL Tor....oh, you do make me smile! and hey - hear you are a fan of the skinny dipping? big fan myself.
Hi Jac - nice to see you.
hello lbd.
Hi lbdawger! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Too hot to sleep here. No idea what the temp in the office is as the thermometer fell down the back of the desk a few weeks ago.:(
and jac, and anyone else I missed whilst I was busy NOT finding words in the grid today
l
Hi Trif
If you make allowances for age ..
mi marigold.
Hi Dianne, Dawg, Trig, Torg and everyone.
Hi Jac!
As one gets older, one makes more allowances ..
i wish i still got an allowance.
I will if you will!
It's 76 deg F in the kitchen. And that's at 2.52am!
Yikes, Jac ..
Thanks Juacula, FInally monkeyed it!
Bugsaw - y/w
ugh, Jac. you need to get a/c or at least a fan
Deal, Trifs ..
sp7,36 please?
We do have fans but I can't sleep with a fan going. Have left Other Half, who can, to it! Air Con isn't standard in houses here in UK.
Hi forwardbyfaith! How are you? Welcome to the grid
s + small water feature + double vowel
I'm using the fan in the office sporadically, but have to remember to move the ashtray when I do switch it on. (Remember one summer a few years ago on here when I forgot and my sweaty fa4 got covered with ash??)
oh i love ac jacs i dont know how you do it, but then again, i like fans too...
red - it's not often we need a/c in UK! LOL
Central heating, yes. Air conditioning - not often.
as i was typing that i was thinking the uk climate is not really similar to me.
dont know how much you miss ac till its 104 and electric off
much the same here in MT, Jac. but i have window a/c units in my office and bedroom. ceiling fans in the living room and other bedroom
I couldn't manage here without aircon. It 92F here with humidity over 65% - great stay inside and babble weather.
We do have aircon in most cars now. My son goes out for a drive when it's too hot in the house. LOL
cherly, i'd be crawling into the freezer!
with you cherly.
Dianne that's more like what Red's used to. ugh!
The heat here in UK is humid or 'wet'. Higher temps in 'dry' heat, i.e. on Crete, for instance are bearable and don't make you all sweaty.
Our weather is a lot like Florida but with more humidity - I think.
We've been having showers here and not even felt like we've had them 5 mins afterwards. A friend who lives in Russia, suggested we have a shower as hot as we can stand it so that the air then feels cooler when we get out. Hmmm.
that actually does work jacula, but it works as well with warm water
She reckons it works. (Does it ever get that hot in Russia??)
I'm still trying to figure out how weather in Crete is "dry"...
we have electric back now and its only 73 outside today, but humid go figure
Dawg - if a place is mainly rain-free, the heat is a dry heat. If a place is green through higher rainfall, the heat is humid and wet.
The water gets hot if you wait for it ..
i was trying to wrap my head around both crete and UK being islands...all that water...moisture...humidity.
As with most things in Russia, you have to wait ..
thanks for the sp clue dawger - sorry I got pulled away from the computer for a few minutes
Dawg - I see, but the conditions surrounding each island differ.
yw, faith
Torg - LOL, re Russia. Yes, I've heard.
yes, i can see that now, Jac
This is so stupid of me...I could Not find the last word for the lomgest time...I had to have it po7/44rd into me!!! So I have firewords! LOL!
whoooo hooooo jaianniah
Congrats jai.
Congratulations jaianniah on your fireworks! Hooray

I had to round up many of the past tense words towards the end. Don't know why they weren't obvious progressions, but they weren't.
TY very much..this is the first puzzle I have finished in a while because I have been in and out of the hospital with a flash-eating bug in my right leg...ICK!
oh no
Yes, Jac, I had to check and re-check each word to make sure...
flesh-eating bug. Oh, poor you! I thought it was only our filthy UK hospitals that gave you that.
finally broke 100 -- may be listing soon!
BRB.
clue please for last fe 5
Nope. Some people think it is pollution from Katrina, but I do not know about that one...
last fe5 rhymes with less and less
Sorry, homonym!
Did you get it, Cherly?

"The man makes his as* up the mountain..."
Now throw in an extra syllable to that clue

Hello bethn! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
beth - where in NJ?
Pass the fish. That was a really bad clue.

Well done, pug.
Right tell them to shut it or they will be doing yard work till the cows come home
geesh, don't remind me welki! was working in the garden today and saw a BIG ol snake...ugh.
I got bit by a copperhead two springs ago
Trifs I would be worried about said snake if this was australia
seriously, jai!!! how are you still here? (and by the way, I am glad you are okay!!)
right now hot and dry is looking good. I think we have had rain every day for the last month except for maybe 3 or 4 days
OMG!! Jai!!
snake is delicious.. over a fire..mmmm
thank you all & happy babbling! off to keel over now,Poof!
taipans, funnel web spiders - Oz has all manner of deadly creatures. I'd be scared to go out in my garden!

yep
Seriously! I dropped my car keys down my front steps, reached down to get them, and got nasiled right on the arm. You should see the chunkhe took out of my arm.
*plants soft pillows for Pug to keel over onto, lest she injure herself.*
eww, I did get a spider bite last summer that had me in the hosp for 2 days...fun times

Okay, Trif. LOL

I learned a hard leson!
Jai that is frightening.
i'm getting the creepy crawlies from this conversation
Great Sugy I am not getting into bed again
well, goodness, jai, if you drop something....
Yes, it was scary, but I madee it thru w/o antivenom, thank you, God. You can only have that once in your life.
help with the en 7/32 please
the anti venom? why? is it because another bite puts you over the top or something?
stumped on the en biggies
You can only have anitvenom once in your life?
not beginning + short message, Kaz
the last part+ short letter
ty jai
ty lbd..and jai
Kaz - last sound of a song or musical? Last bit after the end of a book or essay?
That's what they told me, Jac. It really scared and scarred me!
were you able to eradicate the snake?
yw
jai - I didn't know that!
e + pro****** your words clearly
S/he took off...I was very lucky- I called the National Poison Control Hotline and they orchstrated the whole "rescue".
Maybe, after having the antivenom, your body makes its own antibodies? I assume they meant that particular antivenom?
Jai, I would be so freaked by that fact that I would be moving to a new place fast
I am not sure.
ty dawger
ugh - hate knowing it is still out there. ugh ugh ugh
i'm amazed you were able to stay calm and collected to call the poison control hotline.
yw, nan
Venom varies, so - if you get bitten by a snake and then stung by, say. a box jelly fish, surely you'd need a different one?
It happened so fast thaT i THOUGHT i HAD BEEN SHOT BY SOMEONE...BUT THERE WAS NO SOUND
Sorry about the caps
Live in Australia and even the plants have it in for you
Mind you, if you managed both in a lifetime, you were either Steve Irwin or very unlucky. Actually, thinking how he died - he was both.
the only sound you'd hear from me would be screaming then me hitting ground in a faint.
I'm just going tostay inside (with my aircon).
Yes, I have Venus Fly Traps in my forest
good thinking, dianne
No spikey plants that bite
sp 7/36 help pretty please!!

Herin - even those cuddly looking koalas and cute-looking 'kanagas' aren't, are they?!
s+ small water feature + double vowel
hello everyone :)
hi mrp
(((MRP)))
hi mrp
Speaking of baby roos, what happened with the one MrP's friend had in the house?
Hi mrp - how's everything?
vg clue ty ..that got me the 8 and fireworks :)
Hi, MrP. What a timely entrance! You can answer my question now.
yay Kaz
Mr Pres. Koalas bite and scratch and pee on you and Kangaroos can do serious damage with back legs.
lbd do you have such a good clue for the sc 7 word?
Hi, Mr. P. I just was telling everyone about my snakebite and my flesh-eating bacteria....Now no one will come to my house ever :(((
Well done Kazozz.
Sorry I was eating bread
holy heck! the animals are biting??
Jai did yo get the bacteria after the bite?
sc7 is pt of the one above it, Bugs
Mr Pres I am also winding them up
sc+not begun
or, sc + pt of not beginning
hi mrp -- missed your entrance
No- two years between..I just got my first skin graft about three weeks ago for my leg.
Mr Pres all sorted here. What can we do.
infern, you aren't! Kangaroos are killers!
whooooo hhooooooo KAZ!!!
It sure is. I must have typed it too fast for it to register. Thanks
ouch jai
Drop bears :D
koalas are disease ridden and will kill you too!
go out in the backyard in australia and prepare to die!
You should see my med bills...what a house I could have bought!
lol Mr Pres
Oh shit! The drop bears are the worse!!
uhm, not very good tourist adverts, Mrp and Herin
MrP - I was asking about that baby 'roo' your friends were raising in their house... what happened in the end?
grrr argh grrrr drop bear
dawg, you don't want to come here... it is aweful!!
Jai, just think of the houses you bought for the docs.
they all died jac :(
LB its Aussie humour. OH MG Mr Pres that is too sad
More like boats for their NEW houses on stilts after Katrina....
any clue please for ne 5 12, please
but then how will i get to visit you Mrp?
Dawg - I think Herin and MrP are lacing their posts with irony, to put it politely. LOL
who has a spider bite that is eating them away???!
ne+ not bottom
ne+ not bottom
not old, drop the "w", then add opp. of bottom
MrP - oh dear! Your friends all died? What did the baby roo do to them??
What is the most favourite thing i do with white tail spiders
snap, beth
ty
*Note irony key.*
fireworks
white tails are terrible!!!
Jac, I'm on to them.
whoooo hoooooo CHERLY!!
I hit them with flyspray and a lighter
ne 5?
Mr. P, I was bit by a copperhead two years ago. This year, I have developed a flesh-eating bacteria in my right leg.
just clued, nan
Well done cherly.
ah, i see that a drop bear is like a snipe in the US :-)
a copperhead?? !! found one of those in the bath... cut it's head off with a shovel
wish I could develop a flesh-eating bacteria in my ass
Oh Jai not good. You done the hypo chamber thingy?
was the bacteria caused by a spider jai??
ty
Yup. omplete with fangs.
MrP - didn't that damage the bath?
Hi Unea!!
LOL trif!!
Jac, I so don't care!!
hey, dawg!
No, no spider bite. They think the bursa sac behind my knee got infected somehow.
hi Une!! big night tonight with the tennis!!!
phone call, snap back at you Ibd :)
hey, mrp -- for me it's very early in the morn :-)
Well, I cannot sit any longer. Great grid! Thanks, Mr. P.!
how in the world do you get an infection in your bursa?
Mr Pres that is a no no. OH and got to love the fact that funnel web spiders live in water.
night night, Jai
MrP - if you so don't care that you can afford a new bathroom suite at the drop of a hat, please will you buy us one? Ours is 27 years old and way past it's prime. Also, it's avocado coloured.
jac, i still have an avocado stove :-)
at the bottom of the pool infern!! kids have to tiptoe through the water looking for funnelwebs before they are allowed to swim
Is this Babble's first begging letter? LOL!
well going to take a shower and let ds on computer,ty all and goodnight
Jac you still stuck with the Avocado colour? I thought you fixed that? OH UNe that was you with the stove
avocado colour?? is that like 'kermit the frog' colour??
It could have come from any of the bacteria that just live naturally on our skin. Other than that, I do not know. It happened so very fast!
Hi Une - my stove is 'hunter green'.
night, cherly
stove still works :-)
Mr Pres we had that problem when we lived in Sydney.
Bye*poof*
MrP - not quite so bright green as that.
Loves Jai
mine's from 1975 :-)
sydney is worst for funnel webs
I can splash out on a new bath!! LOL
I lived in the blue mountains
just googled funnel web spider...OMG!!! they look like something from some horror movie!
me too, dawg!!! ohmygod
dawg, you gotta google the trapdoor spider too! I got bit by one of them not long ago!
Herin - no, other more important things overtook the need for a new bathroom suite. However, I found a crack in the tob of the toilet rim a few weeks ago. Accusations about which fat ar** cracked it flew around the house. In the end, even though my bum is probably the widest, science proved that a more narrow bottom + more weight would have caused the crack. A wider bum distributes the wight more evenly. LOL. Culprit? Other Half!
says some have fangs that can penetrate fingernails! ack!!
Mr Pres I had a dream last night that I won that $100 000 mill and I bought you a house and sent the kids were they wanted and every thing. And then I visited all the various babblers and did random acts of kindness. THen i worried what would I do about the kitties
oh infern! that is beautiful!!
It was really odd. I think the fact that they said if you lived on the interest alone it would be about 3mil a year
Une - I'd hang on to your 1970s appliances for as long as you can! New appliances have guarantee of 5 years, but an 'expected life' of 3 years. How stupid is that? Money-making, of course, not built to last. But, with today's climate of recycle/save etc?
girls, I am in and out of here today... can't get off the bloody toilet, hope I don't crack it!
the flu, mrp?
awww Mr P
laptop to the loo, mrp
jac, i know -- that's what the guy said who replaced my old avocado washer several years ago -- twas made of steel
some stomach bug! ... can't shake it at all
Well, if you do Michelle, you can always buy another one, aftr you've bought one for us. :-D
break out the imodium!
Jac I have a 1970's Sunbeam burnt orange fry pan
now i'm afraid to go to sleep tonite and dream of snakes and spiders!!!
no problems jac!
I think I will cybernan... had enough of this! bbs
Une I cat hold your hand its OK
burnt orange and brown -- sooooo '70s!
tx herin :-)
Une - you're obviously a 'green' girl and you'd love my house and most of the stuff I like.
I love the burnt orange fry pan its a casserole thingie to.
Herin - burnt orange is another of my fave colours, as it chocolate brown and 'burnt umber'.
i'm sure, jac! Love greens and dark reds
trapdoor spider, apparently they also exist in California. related to the tarantula...looks more like chtlhulu
burnt umber . . . a flash from the past!
sa 6/21?
I love love love love this fry pan.
i have my original avocado green blender. still works too.
Tarantula the red kneed variety?
cool, dawg!
there was burnt sienna, too ... another crayola favorite :) ... and periwinkle blue and magenta!
The artist in you, Une? I'm going to rediscoveer my lost artist soon, I hope. Whether or not I get paid again when I do, I don't know.
sa + anagram of one who writes rhyming verse
burnt sienna was my fave crayon color!
ty dawger
OH my we had a kitchen that was all burnt orange in one of our rental houses complete with wood panneling. That house gave me the creeps
Une - do you still paint or draw? My fave medium was indian ink and charcoal.
supper time!
not an artist but appreciate art, jac -- worked closely with artists re covers and illustrations when I worked in book publishing
I made a bob or two as a schoolgirl doing drawings of pop and rock stars, MJ included, God rest his soul.
how cool, jac!
blech, i'm done with this grid .. giving me a headache. g'night good babblers (and those who don't stay between the lines :)
did you title it "Jacko?"
The went on to illustrate books/covers etc for small presses.
nite, welki :-)
night, welki
Night Welki.
ruru - no. It was a pic when he was about 11.
He wasn't 'Jacko' then.
when he still looked like himself . . .
jacklito?
bad, ruru
time to head for the pillows. ruru's jokes are starting to make sense! LOL see you all tomorrow
lol...
nite, dawg!
gimmee a break lb
Une - yes. Mind you, I thought he looked nice after the first nose job. After that, it all went down hill. He obviously had body dysmorphic disorder, but no one seemed to stop him. Lots of other issues, too, from his father's treatment of him.
kiss kiss, ruru
*poof*
indeed, jac
I think he wanted to look like Diana Ross
I've no time for those who knock MJ without really lookinhg at what made him the person he became, and that's only the person we see through the media, not the one his friends and family knew.
oh help me! clue for the po 7/8 combo please????
Lots of kids have had abusive parents jac.. and haven't become freaks... I do feel sorry for him though.. I think it comes with mega-star fame... it is a sad life he led
What I've always said, as a 'white caucasian' is that if MJ was my child, and I was black, I'd be worried that he seemed to want to eradicate all trace of his ancestry AND his physical likeness to his parents.
Hi rururocks!I believe that Janet Jackson looked like Diana Ross at the BET awards. Did you see the show?
It was a plastic surgery addiction and other issues?
no.. I missed it Min.. I meant to watch it
Trif - po7 and 8 refer to the power of something. If you 'can't get it up', you are impo7.
I've always thought that La Toyah and Michael were one and the same. Seems now, they're not.
whoa
thank you jac....27 to go, and I am VERY stupid at this point
I've never seen both in one place at the same time.
I didn't see it either but I saw clips of her on AH & ET
evening, yall
She is as talented as Michael in many ways
howdy, seain!
Hi seain...
HI seain.
hi, une, ruru, jacula, trifioso :) long time
we were out of town for about a week
ruru - to be honest, I've never seen her, or rather watched her.
Too bad your initials were INseain

BSVG are my initials
I saw her once on the MTV awards show and she brought down the house.. wow

HIYA herin

Blessed Soul, Very Good?
Big Scary Violent Gonads?

yes
So, were MJ and LaTJ both super-talented or are they one?
Ru Hi and that is Nick Cave
dollars to donuts, none of yall will ever guess the V - it's an Appalachian name
LaToya, not JANET???
hi, herin!
oh.. don't know him
La T has no talent at all
Well, I have a southern friend named Marthavan, so don't count me out!!!
fair enough, trifioso :)
Hmm - just pomdering the prospect of 'violent gonads'. Wondering when and where they attack.LOL
That would be a great name for a punk band.. the Violent Gonads
Ru Ausie Singer
oh
what a cuet lop, jac!
Testicular Rock!
I read a great article where all the bands and songs were named after famous movie lines. It was so funny!
If Michael Jackson had not been so successful, Janet Jackson could have been the icon Michael was with a better life.I always liked Janet Jackson more anyway
ask car.eeyore about the graffitti my mom endured at her summer cottage....gawd help us all
I kind of did too minver...but man he was exciting to watch. I did like his voice too I must say
He was no Stevie Wonder...but man the whole package
I am more of a prince girl, myself....
I like prince a lot.

Beloved and me are due to watch Thriller on July 10th, the musical about MJ's life. Not starring him, fortunately, as it turns out.

Ex-hubs wife is now thinking she jinxed MJ. Back in the 80s, 2 weeks before she was due to see him in concert for the first time, her husband committed suicide and so she didn't get to the concert. Recently, now married to my ex, she bought up about 10 tickets for the MJ comeback concert, intended to sell all but 4 on e bay... 2 weeks before the concert, where she'd finally have got to see him live, he died.

name is monosyllable, and is given to boys and to girls - last letter is pronounced when a girl's name, but not when a boy's name. Everyone i've met with the name comes from West Virginia or SE Ohio or Western PA

I was just sniffing my arm. I'm sure you all wanted to know that! I was remembering what my daughter told me earlier today about the strange smell when she came out of a cool shower and then sweated again. 'The smell of lightly cooked porK?' I asked. 'Yes,' she said. Told you we were all cooking here!
hi again
Actually, it's lightly cooked pork with undertones of 'deodorant has given up the ghost'.
Hi cybernan.
hello, nan

Herin - you know that smell! Cue Lyn Skyn's song 'What's That Smell?' maybe?
ewww. I hate cooking pork
can anyone help with ac8/9 pls...
High point card, plus smell.
Our nearest genetic neighbour is the pig, so it's not surprising that we smell like pork cooking and, apparently, taste like pork when cooked.
SOrry lurking, Apparently I worked out too hard and now cant sleep because legs hurt.
awww Red
thanks red, shoulda found it...
Stop! Children, what's that smell? Everybody look to see what the hell.
ac8 = High card + perfume. ac 9 is the plural.
thanks Jacula!
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
congrats, nan
However, I asked a question around the dinner table, bbq table, the other night that seemed to surprise my family. What I wanted to know is why meat from different mammals and birds tastes different even if they eat the same diet...
The meat looks and smells different, also.
pablo - y/w.
differing biochemical process in digestion, different flora in the digestive tract per species, different activities and degrees of activity to body type, differing fibre lengths in muscles, and an number of other things
See Ask DC the Bio Nerd
Ah, got that, I think, DCS.
ANd in English. Thingies in the critters stomach does diffenerent thingies to the food taste process :D
LOL - Herin.
oh! the big news from the time away is that Tom will be having a myectomy in August or early September to treat his Hyotrophic Cardio Myopathy.
This sounds like a good thing DC
That sounded like one of my explanations when I've got tired of giving the 'real' one.
and as an aside, the SEs are not the easiest today.

Hope it works, dcs.
I'm trying to go to sleep, but...

sleep be fleeting sometimes
Herin, you're an Aussie - so how could you speaka da good Eeenglish?
Yep
i see jacula is chanelling her inner Italian
Most of us in UK don't speeka da good EEnglish. The Queen for the first - though her vowels are not so mangled as they once were.
I can speak proper English I just get lazy
She would at least say 'My husband and I' now, rather than 'May Hussband end eye'.
i can speak a clear American English or Castillian Castillian when i try. Mostly i don't bother.
Though she will persist in pronouncing the word 'off' as 'orf'.
how is I different vowel from eye? Here it's Eye St instead of I St.
I! as in 'eye'. I got it wrong, should have said 'ay'.
May hussband and ay.
well, I found 10 more words and now I will try again, post Motrin to sleep....
ah, gotcha
may you sleep well, red
Other Half's just got up for work Came into the office to find a cigaratte and said 'Jesus!' as he came in. Hopefully, he was commenting on the heat and not on my appearance.

Hey, mkg, when I was suffering from lack of sleep/too much booze at all times of the day/ and havingleft school for too long, I once looked blankly at another writer at a writing conference who had starting talking to me about definite articles. I had no idea what she was on about at the time.
ar6 -- ...over and under and down we go"
jac i have heard of definite articles. just never heard of the ad word.
Unless you've been to a writing conference, you might not know that they are more killing to the brain than music festivals with mud and tents.
jac, your bunny with the woffley nose is appropriate for the next theme :)
Is it,jilli? I'll keep it then.
check mine for the theme, jac
Writers' conferences are very noisy affairs because most writers write because they love communicating and words.
They also love drinking, dancing, talking, staying up late, getting up early... the range is huge.
hello
Sounds like fun, jac
k, i'm off to bed, 35 short of finishing
Nite dc
night dc, better luck next time
i.e., smaller grid
happy babbling, yall! ty, jilli, and hi/bye, mlf :)
clue for AC 8 please
And you can sometimes be misunderstood byy being taken at your word by other writers... I once could not understand why one woman in most of the classes I had chosen to join made a point of complaining loudly if I was 2 minutes late for a class (either as a pupil or a teacher). Until someone told me she was a 'dyke' (lesbian), fancied me like hell and thought I'd snubbed her.
ac8 -- high card + odour
Saywhaaat? LOL
thanks jill
yw -- and the pl is the 9
