flip!! !
oh no! It's a BIG grid. *sigh*
Oh jeez
Flip flip hooray!
changing icon...
I am not not NOT starting this one yet. I have SO MUCH to do that I can't even consider it. *stomping feet angrily*
Saw your post on Ayckroyd. Sorry to have irritated you.
I will be back sometime tomorrow -- that's friday, my time.
oh my!!
and I still want to know if that makes dan ackroyd an ottawatian? or what do they call folks from there?
And did Flo's daughter have her baby okay?
I am not even going to start this one.Busy tomorrow and probably will not babble.Goodnight to all babblers
and and and... LOL
sweet dreams Min -- thanks for all your patient help!
being born in Sydney makes me a Sydneysider
that's a good name, mrp.
night min
Night Min sweet dreams.
I would be an angelina if they counted the county for that term, but apparently they only use the city for that designation. *sigh* I would have liked to be an angelina...
I'm a "military brat"...no "hometown"
as it is, as an adult I am not even an Olympian, since we live outside in an unincorporated area Know the feeling pini, I am also a brat.
what branch, stid?
Clues are up
thx lickety
I think Dan Aykroyd is just an Ottawan
Dear Lickety -- you're a doll!
YAY lickety!
Thank you, Lickety! :)
Air Force, pini
Army here
Thanks LIckety
ottawan sounds too normal for ackroyd, but okay... ;-)
ah, that explains the camo obsession... *ducks flying army boots*
ROFL ...
I'm sort of a Shanghailander (the term for the Europeans living there) rather than a Shanghainese (the Chinese residents)
...it's the dau that has the obsession...
There are flying army boots in here? Is it safe???
...she lives in the country (way out in Oakridge...town of just uner 4,000)

Haven't heard from flosey but Sandy was having contractions last night, minus dilation
does that make baby-to-be an oakridgean?
go bugsaw go!!!!
*restocks PB*
one would think so, stid ;)
I'm on my way to the PB. Apologies to all
re6 --->re7------re9------re10!!
thanks, bug
contractions without dilation is what happened with the elder stidkid for me... it was miserable. Hope Sandy is okay.
Hello, mrp. :)
go MRP!!!!!
well done, mrp
I also think the aa6 describes this grid!!
oh, loathsome re wrods!
and I am getting sillier by the second. I shall away and back probably Friday at some point to cause more trouble. ((((Hugs everyone)))) see you-all soon!
Definitely, mrp - I'm saying that already! :P
hi JC (hugs) Thanks guys
*poof*
missya, stid!
Aww bless - hugs to you too, mrp! :)

HAHA, Jilli . . .
Hi again, FMitch . . .
I keep coming and going, sorry. :P
yikes. only mildly late flip... but a doozy of a grid
bye FM, hi freep!
I am so not looking forward to holding meeting tonight... too much crap to talk about!
hello
LA 6 x2
hi mlf
Hi Pink
Was ST 7 called?
TA 6
ar7
gr7
woweee howdy all
gr7 x 2
hi dee hi
there are 2 MLF, and one of them converts to a 9
hi dee ho
I hink we've been punished enough lately with these huge grids and the last lethal one
GR 6 x2
oh crikey! good luck in getting the ag8!! that is a doozy!!
MLF ???
Pinik AR 7/28?
yes Erda?
yes, mlf
hmf, mrp, was just hoping it grew out of the previous ag words
was pondering Mrp's remark -- please ignore me!
thanks pinik its the same one i have then thats good to know:)
OK I'm almost at NBT but for the solo E and solo S - anyone there yet?
the st7 does give you a 9... promise!
s is like the bottom of your shoes
Erda havent found that one yet that mrp mentioned
I'm missing the lone right E for NBT
wow...have they been large ones all week?
st7/28? exts to an st9?
I don't want to know what's on the bottom of my shoes. :P
hey JC Pini mrP and all!
Hello, PAV!!! :)
me either JC lol..hi and hello all :)
hi pav ;)
HAHAHA, hi Kazozz!!! :)
Thank you MLF
i think so Pinik i havent found it yet
no pini, extends by prefix
dare I start" I haven't finished lately...
TE 6
prefix, eh? hmmmm..
I haven't finished any grids in ages, PAV - usually don't have time to. :/ But, I start them anyway - that's why my ranking's in the toilet now. :P
hi PAV!
*FLUSH!*
my toilet is rank too!
right down there with mine then JC!!
haha mrp
Ewww, mrp! :P
Clean it, then! ;)
was DE 7 called?
can't right now JC... no point!
Hmmm . . .
Should I ask why? No . . . probably not. :P
JC when your mind is in the gutter..probably appropriate to have your ranking in the toilet?
Are you inferring that MY mind is in the gutter, Kaz? ME??? :O Never!!! :P
la5 --->la7---->la8
JC, just be happy that the internet doesn't have smell-o-vision!
mrp...you're on a roll!
uhmm.... that little innocent me act doesn't work with me JC lol
well JC, finishing is a prerequisite for my self-centered egotistical alt-ego...but I do manage to keep my toilets clean...if anyone would care to visit...my kitchen on the other hand could use some work...
mrp has grossed me out
No, Kaz - that's because ruru isn't here to polish up my halo for me. He does that, you know - someone has to. :P
<--- pays someone to clean her kitchen and toilets lol
ruuster has his halo in the toilet!
I cheat, PAV - cleaners come in to do that, although we do maintain it in between.
IN 7/8
i cant make any words coz i'm laughing my butt off at the chatter this evening
polishing a halo...is that an euphemism? or double entendre?
Hmmm, mrp - ruru's is in the toilet, yet he polishes mine?
Perhaps I don't want to know what he polishes it with? :P
I know - toilet cleaner. :P
well JC... I only call them how I see them! LOL
Oh, sorry Kaz . . . it's always a risk one takes when I'm around, though. :/
ok off to walk Joey and then I'll come back and perhaps attempt a failure...
see ya PAV! time to walk my mutt too... bbs all
IN 6 9 7
night pav
phantom: lasagna
no complaints JC..I need a good laugh
hi hi hi hi hi hi hihi
hi josh
hoho josh
Did everyone get those IN words i just posted?
nope :(
I got 2 mlf
ok ... 4
Kaz 6 9 7
cool Pinik
I actually got 2 more than those: in 5 6 6 9 7
+ 2 more
no -- in words are just about as inconsistent as re words
make that: in 5 6 7 8 6 9 7
on that note, I should disappear and get to bed...
jil am looking for big RE words now
i just happy to get 4 letter words right now lol
Oh, I know lots of 4-letter words, Kazozz . . . :P
have fun, mlf
i was hoping you did..but are they in the grid :p~~~~~
leaving me jill?
NBT finally
in the process of finding the e in the last column i found all the other e's but one
i think is a 4 letter word
josh
no, mlf -- I know you like to find big words right away and I don't
Oh, well probably not, Kaz - but some are, sometimes! Naturally those are always the words I see first! :P
the right column e is ea6
it's a plural
i'm sure halo is the obvious first word u find... seeing as how you are such the saint *wg*
SO 6
jill not on purpose lol
ok let's see 1hr 15 mins 'til doomsday...let's begin...
GR 5 6 6 7 6
Hmmm, PAV?
yikes maybe i shouldnt have started this one then PAV?
HAHAHA, Kaz - oh yes, that's me. My mum did name me after a priest after all, did you know that? ;)
AG 6 x2
Why is that Kaz?
my initials are J.C. in real life and my father is a carpenter
HAHA, Josh - how funny!
So we hae the same initials - probably not the same surname though.
And definitely not the same first name, if you are Joshua?
GA 6/7
i doubt we do
i am joshua
Well, you would see if you checked your MySpace mail, Josh . . . ;)
not getting that ea6 :(
me either jill
i guess one has to log in to myspace to check myspace mail
It isn't earrat, jilli
okay 101 words down..i am out poof
lol hi doug
Yes, Josh - that might help a bit. ;)
night MLF
I'm sure, douglas!
Hello Kazozz
bye mlf
if you are excited to do something ou are ea*** but mix up the last three letters then plural it
I have three 'ea' words - are there any more?
Hello Douglas!
Reverse the last two letters, you mean . . .
Hello lynxxx!
confirmed: we do not have the same surname
well, I got the ea5,6 -- unfamiliar
Thanks for the nice clue, forward
4 ea words, JC
HAHA, OK Josh! ;)
oh i got it..brain still slightly active which is always a good sign
and good afternoon everyone. Forgive my bad manners but I hadn't seen Douglas for ages
now for the lone S on the left for nbt
Thanks, Jilli - then one is escaping me.
Hi lynxxx
ok...I need a bottom left s for NBT and I've added an extra 2 s's from the 2nd column...was trying for lowest number of words for NBT's...25 for 23 now...
that s is a 4/4
Good morning, lynxxx . . .
ea 5, 6, 5, 4
186 word done but really struggling now. Is lickety up?
thanks Josh! NBT 26 for 24!
yes, anike
I cannot find that elusive second ea5, Jilli. :/
Pretty good PAV
I haven't been around in a while...it's a good thing I'm not holding myself to a very high standard of Babbling, as I have all of 50 words
and all I can see is zister, cister, dister and nister
JC its related to the ea 4..past tense?
can't do clues yet, JC
And while Oster is in the grid, it's not a word, but it describes my brain, in a blender
Thank you, Kazozz! *MWAH!* ;)
Can't believe I didn't see that?
yeah me either lol
ah, nbt!
wtg jilli
i'm not close
You have a new page comment on MySpace, Josh. ;)
my mom tells me MN is a bit chilly at nights still, Doug...
luckily i don't have to try to remember my password this time around
We've had a few decidedly unsummery days, the last couple of days have been that way
Oh, I see Josh - forgot it, did you?
You will find several other Babblers you know in my 'Friend Space,' Josh . . .
she'll be there for a month to catch up with friends...up from NM
BBL need to make a cake
I have yet to transfer blogs and articles over to there, Josh - but they'll be reposted there soon, with more new ones to follow.
It's closing time, every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end...good night all
night douglas -- come back
Good night, Douglas . . .
I just got an os word that isn't even in the grid. Does that happen often?
night Doug...think of the hot Arizona nights 90's whilst enjoying the coolness of MN
only 2 os words Bug and they both in the grid tonight!!
MonkeyGames?
Lurking . . . :P
I must be more tired than I think because I cannot for the life of me follow the letters I got in a line.
204 words done but must get back to work so will finish later. Bye for now

one day, mrP, when the kids are grown and gone, you'll look back at this time with fondness
just, mrp may smack you for that!
today maybe but in 10 years maybe not
would it help, mrp, to think that in a few hours itwill be all over with?
don't mind the kids at all Mar! I do mind how tired I am!! LOL
As I am not getting any younger, I can only assume I will get more tired and probably be petrified as hard wood in 10 years
oh I;m sure mrP that it's not the kids...wish my son was still a kid at home
1 word down and 318 to go, facinating bio as ever Jilli.

My 14-day trial period has expired :O
Hi FMitch - do youhav a clue for the re real biggies?
And I'm not really that good at babble... so i might have to give it up! :( or i can keep playing without the stats panel
Scyth - why don't you upgrade - its quick, easy and cheap
you can use lickety's babble clues ...link to it is right under the grid
how is lickety doing?
re6 = to revoke or invalidate an action. the re 9 and 10 come from that.
how has his dad had the surgery yet?
I don't think i'll upgrade to pro... O.o
he must be okay..he's been posting early and regularly :)

Licketys dad is having his surgery on Sunday according to the last message from MrP.

No ANgel why?
Not recently Angel.

Time for me to be off.
You AGB'd Ata? Nicely done..... :p
ty lori
No reason, really, just got wondering about him. I don't see Jera any more, either.
Congratulations FM! Don't go.... :(

ty for the in9 clue
it's not stoopid, Lori! It's a perfectly normal word!
woot fm
well I had an idea to recycle the treated pine pallets that the b.f gets from work
what is the icon theme today?
Roof top gardens
less than 200 to go
yesterday was difficult. I had a child death report. an 8 month old drowned in a bathtub
Oh no Angel that is so so sad
i'm so sorry angelsong :( *hug
what do you do?
I take reports of child/elder abuse and neglect in a call center, and send them to be investigated.
fireworks
Oh Angel how do you do that. Just err.
wow - congrat anike
woot anike
yah Anike
I have been doing this work for almost 11 years. I immedicately took myself off the phone for five minutes, and otld my supervisor I was going for a walk.
Bless you Angel
I guess my family wants me to cook dinner now so will have to go - any clues wanted before I go?
bye anike
Do you get much support / debriefing Angel? It must be very hard to switch off after work.
angel - just seeing your posts - oh my goodness - don't know how you deal with all that
Bye all
prpfessional training, experience and good boundaries, wolvie
not using the list anike, so I don't know what to ask for. ;-)
clue for the 8's pls I have a re8
I have excelent support, and always have. I do not bring my work home with me.
still a hard job, angel. Glad you can do it. Just reading about things folks do to each other and their off springs gets to me deeply
just grayed the z!
I have to be able to let go of a call almost immediatly, to take the next one
woot ardilla
woot I get b.f special Hot Chocolate yah.
Angel you really are a special person
I guess if you brought your work home, Angel, you would end up a basket case. But, its a tough job - takes a special kind of person to do it!
angel - I suppose all professionals that deal with this sort of thing have to do what you do, I don't know if I'd be able to - I am glad there are folks like you - you guys do a good job
Sorry I am doing a happy dance
my job iis such that I begin each day with a clean slate, no work is carried over into the next day, and that helps a lot.
I used to work in the courts and now I am studying legal practice. *wonders what I am thinking*
I work in a coroners office, and i deal with bereaved people all day every day. I find it rewarding, but draining.
wow - you folks have some serious jobs -
I did the most absolutely logical thing I could think of after work yesterday, I called my daughter and told her ot go hug Jordan, who is almost the same age as the child who died.
Wolvie Had. I went a little nuts
i can only imagine, fern
Babble is welcome light relief!!! lol
Awww Angel too sweet
i know this will rate a fish, but i just don't see the re7 to revoke

Extend the re7/32 to make it plural, MM.
don't have the re7/32 jac
One who dwells somewhere, MM.
ty jac
y/w MM
Thank you that got my 8
y/w, Herin.
I didn't even see the re 8
its so cold out there
It's very warm here.
I wish.
hey jac....wouldnt you know...i fly out to find the heat...and it hits 30 at home...
ROlin
LOL, Rolin. Where are you?
im in israel at the mo
hey herin
Oh Rolin that sounds nice
Is it warm there, too?
its gorgeous weather... the med is so warm to swim in...and we're right by the beach
OH Rolin that sounds nice
Sounds lovely.
its been between 30 and 35 all week...but its not like london..the heat here is bearable
We're off to Devon in a couple of days. No internet access where we're going, though.
You people are so lucky to be off running about in the sun
I think I'll be doing more reading than running, Herin.
With the odd bit of strolling and swimming thrown in.
Ok lounging then
10 words to find and then I must get off to do 1001 jobs - ironing, washing, packing, cooking, fruit picking etc., etc.
well we are doing a good mixture of touristy things and doing nothing...today is a nothing day... thk goodness for unsecured wi-fi
They seem to have the internet all locked up in Devon, Rolin. Still, a week without a pc is probably a good thing.
Jac take lots of puzzle books
I do, Herin, plus books, sketchpad etc.
nice
Oh, and cards and boardgames, and dvds.
nice. We don't do cards or board games
You should, it's a laugh.
And we'll take the Wii. Great fun 'bowling' etc. There's also a mini bowling alley nearby.
Nope Board games are BORED games in our house. THat and himself sucks at scrable
Can't play Scrabble with other half as he's dyslexic but we play things like 'Payday', 'Snakes & Ladders', 'Game of Life' etc.
Might even dig one of the Trivial Pursuits out this time.
He would rather play his pc. We had 3 days without stuff
Shame, it's good to interact.
fireworks
Well done, Angel.
5 to go here.
Yah Jac.
Wow Angel i mean. Jac its not our thing.
Oh well, we can't all like the same things Herin.
I would love to play scrabble.
Clue is a good one :) I love board games and jigsaw puzzles. Cranium is a favourite as well. We adapt it for a two player game. Also, trivial pursuit 90s edition, as we are young enough to know some of the answers.
I like jigsaws, too. Got lots stacked up still to do. I like WAJIG ones and the Jan Van Haasteren ones.
Uni - have you got the music edition of TP?
*WASJIG
Oh, I have not. That would be one we could do very well at, I think. As for jigsaws, we just do whatever ones have made their way to us. The family sort of recycles them that way.
I'll get it right in a minute! WASGIJ (jigsaw backwards) The puzzle is only clued by the pic on the box and is what the person in the pic on the box might be seeing.
If that makes sense.
That sounds extra difficult. I think it is cheating to look at the box, so I try not to.
My b.fs family was playing Quiddler but i didn't play as they would have made me feel stupid even if though I would wipe their behinds butt
Our Queen is a member of a jgsaw lending library.
I do seem to be having trouble typing jigsaw in any form today. LOL
Not heard of Quiddler, Herin. Must check it out.
Ooh, Balderdash is one I love playing with a group of friends. We all do so well at convincing each other weird things.
Looks interesting. I see there's an online version as well as the card game to buy.
JAc: http://tinyurl.com/5bvyej
I've been after Balderdash for a while now. Not seen it in any of our shops.
Pictionary is fun.
Hello all!
Hi Scrabbs.
OH I just heard the best news
What's that, Herin?
I love jigsaw puzzles and group games! We played Taboo the other day and always laugh so much with that game. Pictionary is fun too. I don't have Quiddler or Balderdash. Catch Phrase is another fun one for groups.
Yikes, this grid is huge.
One of our BIG supermarket chains has ditched the GST on all feminine hygiene products.
That is the right decision!
Is that like VAT?
Goods and Services Tax
Vale Added Tax
It seems the people have spoken and finally a GIANT supermarket has listened
Value I meant.
I've always maintained that tampons and towels would be free if men had periods. After all, we can't help having them!
Now they need to do the same on baby products
FIREWORKS!:-)
Yah Jac
Sorry to cut and run but I've so much to do before we go away. Happy Babbling all. x
I am now being yelled at by a kitty for taking away his leaf that he was eating. Have a good day Jac
morning.....
Carrrrrrrrleeee
herin..hows u?....

Yep. He didn't like not being told no
happens.... our kitten goes APE when u go outside..she thinks EVERYTIME I go to back yard it means I am either picking her some catnip..or I am picking her some sweet grass...and I get yelled at the whole time I am out there so I remember she is inside rather then outside with me
How was your day yesterday?
oh...quiet... it rained so no fireworks

I read...ate..read...did laundry.r.ead..ate... drank..
Oh thats right Canada day the day to nada
I gave my kitten a pea pod to play and chew on yesterday..was shucking peas...she delighted in chasing any pea that missed the bowl and bounced on the floor
aww cute.

Mr wasn't amused that daddy went to bed either
awwww. Polytoed cute
Yippee Jacula! Hi Carlee! I got a phone call from the office and then had to call the children's hospital about a kid.
hi there scrabs
Carlee, Mary's family is renting the home in Fort Erie--barely over the Peace Bridge, so nowhere close to you. I will visit next week. They are staying 18 days, on the beach.
:( now..i am sad
Oh that is nice Scrabbler. I am glad the kids are happy
gm all
Hi MOm
I don't know about anyone else... and nothing against his talent, but I am sick of hearing about Michael Jackson already!
Every time I turn on the TV... there is some more nonsense....
I was sick a week ago
OK... then it's not just me!
I think its horrid that the kids have to hear this
CNN and the other mass media in the states tends to get "stuck"
Oh, yeah. I agree herin.
awwwwww my darling little monkey has been locked out of the bedroom lots of banging and howling
hehehe.....MY cat "digs" when u lock her out....and cries..but is a soft cry
No it was BANG BANG BANG humph you suck meow
yes... the 24-hour news networks are the worst.
*going to check on strange animal sound outside*
I have been avoiding all but the programs I watch on TV
Scrabbler it better not be rabid what ever it is
It is a group of purple finches at all of the birdfeeders in front--there collective sounds were alarming me, but they are harmless.
awww pretty
damn it my fav show just finished. Can any one in the states tell me if MEdium is being redone for another season please
I don't know--check web site
did that
Ok FOund out why NBC dropped it and CBS picked it up. Guess they need $$ to make it work
one of my faves too, herin, and howdy!
Hi uni. ANy news on what the frog they are doing?
September 25, 2009 WOOT thank you wiki
Ok NBC are morons the rating for the show were quite big
Une I have just finished watching Season 4
Hi Une
have watched every episode since day 1! :-)
morning, scrabs :-)
I wish

hey, merk -- don't have anything bigger than an 8
tx, mm!!!!!!!!!!!
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr bah sick of news
yvw
was horrified last nite at news of 2-year old girl killed in her sleep by the family python that had escaped in the house
Morning. I think I am going to enjoy this grid.
(in Florida)
anyone have any 8s other than the re8?
hey, red!
Hi Une, and yes that was horrible news.
clue for the re8?
tu
Une what MORON has a Burmese Python is beyond me. My friend has an 11foot python but no kids and no small ediable things
I mean ty
those who dwell une
Hi Red and merk
oops, sorry, already had it, but thanks!
let alone the thought of having snakes in the house with kids is beyond me
There is always an inherent risk with pets. Kids have been hurt similarly by Dogs, even normally well behaved dogs...
I just read that snake story--awful.
Hi red
Hell I got bit by a sodding Yorky as a kid
i got bitten by a monkey grinder's monkey when I was 5 . . .
Une I should not laugh but damn that is funny
used to perform every day in front of a local restaurant
:-D
anyone have any 8s other than the re8?
Poor Une--how traumatic.
in8/40, mm
I had a cockatoo bite me as a kid. Had a horrid fear of birds like that as ever since. I did conquer the fear the other week and handled one.
herin, it really did make me have a creepy feeling around monkeys after that . . . and normally I love ALL animals!
Monkeys are a tad bitty. My dad had one as a pet when they lived in Africa
clue for that in8, une?
in + st6/18
6.5 mil Americans have lost their jobs since the down turn now that is scary
pups need their early morning pee -- BRB . . .
must be an st6 i don't have une
The economy is bad here--people are hurting.
We don't get these sorts of reposts here. And Sadly shows like Oprah and Dr Phil are more reliable
Hello everyone. I just found out that if you click on the Babble logo (top left on screen) it refreshes
THough, Scrabbs, there are signs that it is improving slightly, home sales are up (thank god!), and I do see some consumer spending increasing.
I did that just for fun now, Lynxxx.
I did that the other day Lynxx
In Florida though the shome situation is still stinky.
Red I am so glad you sold your house
Red, very true--slow emregence of hopeful signs
Lynxx is it cold enough for you to
sure is
So much for Thunder storms
and a poop load of rain
So we'll see Scrabbs.
Has anyone seen Sprite? She hasnt changed her icon in a bit....which is not like her as she is the icon lady.
Good Morning Babblers :)
yes no idea about Sprite sorry. Um was she going away?
Hi nono.
Hi nono
hi all
Red did your closing go thru?
HI JM
It DId!
Happy Thursday, Babble buds!
whoo hooo red!
Hi Judi
congrats! I know that must be a load off your mind
hi judi
YAY, Red!
hi JM and Judi
So Red you are now Homeless and happy :D
hi Nono, Judy & jmc
hi lynxxx
Extremely happy to be Homeless, I still have to call the power company, and cancel!!!
When do you get your stuff?
Hi jm and Nanette and judi. i went into kitchen to make oatmeal and cover it with raspberries
hi scrabs!
Anyone ever have steelcut oa**? better than regular?
mmmmmmmm sounds good Scrabs
Never tried them, Scrabbler. Do they take longer than instant?
scrabbler... I am fond of Irish oats my own self... don't know if they are steel cut or not.
I was talking to b.f about moving states. i would love Sydney - Too expensive and he wont move there and the other states are not appealing. I declare we need more states. OH maybe Perth.
I have them from time to time--the main problem with instant is that they get so mushy
I don't know, but I heard of steelcut oa** and wondered what makes them special other than I saw yesterday in the store that they cost more
They are a big treat for me... but they remind me of my childhood... so, once in a while, I buy McAnn's... 4 times the price of regular.
I saw those too, mom2
I love oa??? with a tad of apple / juice in the boiling process
lol, Scrabbs. Well they MUST be better then, if they cost more!
Those I can vouch for Scrabbler...
when my husband was alive we concluded we were stuck with DC because I wouldn't move any farther norht and he would n't move anyfather south
Silly me, Judi, I should have realized that.
I recently saw "instant" Irish oats... never tried them... would be afraid... the McAnn's take about 40 minutes, but worth it!
they cost more because they are careful chopped rather than randomly ground
Good to know jmc!
JMC Adelaide is very pretty but so so boring. Tasmania is too small. NSW most parts I want to live too expensive, Perth to far, Canberra too boring and Queensland / Darwin too hot
There's always those lateral moves. jmc. Maryland, other points in Virginia, West Virginia! Stop me before I keep going west.
The thing I like about the Irish oats is that they have flavor (yes, imagine that)... and they stand up to the milk!
Confession: I am eating my oa** uncooked as I like them this way sometimes.
I am a fount of useless information
I like them raw on yogurt
that's ok jmc... better than being useless fount, LOL.
herin, I cannot help you with knwoing where to live in Australia
I would love to live in NY or New Orleans
I think as long as there is no health hazard people should eat what they want
ItsOK Scrabbler. I am bored and getting itchy feet again
that is quite a difference herin!
I live about 10 miles from Manhattan... would love to live there myself!
my neice -- after rebuild her house 4 times in NO -- is just now moving to NYC
*serves plate of choco covered grasshoppers* Dig in!
just did a search on them and they are cut into pieces rather than rolled. They have a nuttier texture but take longer to cook
Would not reccomend NO at this time.
Are you in NJ or NY, mom2?
Heck if i had the money I would. NO yes issues with that whole weather thing but for me meh
Whats wrong with NO?
Actually my sister lived in NO long ago.... did not really like it even before Katrina.
my niece was tired of her firends being rapped and murdered and the police doing nothing
*resisting vomiting after Judi's suggestion**
NJ Scrabbler
Yes JMC very high crime rate in NO
I just heard on NPR yesterday that NO is one of the fastest growing US cities right now
LOL. Mmm. Would you like a wing or a leg, Scrabbs?
That sounds like NO.
the city used Katrina as a way to force "undesirables" out of the city
My sister is in Montvale, NJ, mom2.
Thank you Judi its been a while since I have these!
Not too far... I am in Maywood.. on the border of Hackensack, NJ
grwoing with peculators
Come on. i got into a HUGE fight with a friend for being racist for saying pretty much the same thing JM that I could possible think that
*speculators
Mother Nature flushed out the 9th ward. Plus, the State and the Army Corps of Engineers failed to maintain the levies.
I will nevre knowingly eat insects, Judi. LOL. Sometimes when bicycling I catch a bug in the throat.
racist for saying that NO is forcing people out?
don't know about choc-covered grasshoppers, but toffee-covered grasshoppers are delicious!
and state and army corp kept people in no very nice cars from leaving
Hi Ata!
Yep JMC that no one gave a rats arse as they are mostly black and well poor and well haha to you for being at the bottom of the food chain. Might we add there is a HUGE swing now in the change of soco economical status there
The problem with NO has always been the poverty, unfortunately that abject poverty was mostly seen among African-Americans.
Hi Ata
okay scrabs are you a vegan or do we need to invent a new word for you?
mmmmmm toffee coverd grasshoppers!
hi ata
and yes I ahve done a shtuff load of reading about this
I am vegetarian and thinking seriously about going vegan.
honestly, they actually do taste nice!!
If you go vegan No honey Scrabbler
then I understand your hesitation scrabs
I eat everything
Hello, Ata! I suppose if you put enough candy coating on bugs, they'd have to taste good. Best to toast the bugs first (so I'm told).
Really? Vegans don't eat honey?
A vegan diet would be challenging to follow
I could really take this conversation south with some of the things I have eaten over the years
Yep. Its a product from an Animal
exactly, judi. lol. I had some in Japan ages ago, and all you can taste is yummy caramel - toffee around them. the grasshopper just adds crunch
I think this conversation has already headed south!
vegans don't eat any animal product including milk and honey
You are ''enslaving the bees and taking away their hard work by eating the honey''
lol mom
Vegans don't eat honey because they believe it is exploitive of bees. I have to roll my eyes at that one, because bees make honey willingly. It's not like someone is holding a gun to their little bee heads.
When I have the money I am an omnivore... when I don't I'm a pastavore! Not great for the glycemic index, but what can you do???
I can't drink milk but it doesn't stop me eating them. i drive past dairy cattle and regularly yell ''useless beasts get on my fork''
I saved the raspberries for la** with my oatmeal. I so love berries.
did I tell you about PETA supporting the Vegan's in the military? apparently you can't take honey from bees but you can kills other humans
Funny image Judi
lmao. oh that's just *typical*
raspberries are my favorite fruit
http://deceiver.com/ If you think Peta are not hypocritics check this out
LOL, herein. *passes the A1*
mom2, but the high fiber pasta. Ronzoni or Smart Taste
the best PETA thing was when they went after President Obama for killing a fly on live television... LOL... they should have seen me last night.... I am the master "fly hunter"...
Like I said... money being the major issue right now... a box of that is $2.50... might as well buy meat!
I actually got a conscientious objector to war application from a vegan which started with--"I am a vegan and one day i realized that people are animals too."
our local farm shop has just started selling A1. For about $11 a bottle!
that's a good one JMC
PETA does espouse some pretty extremist tactics.
Well, kids I have to get ready to make hospital rounds. The newborn that was to be discharged has a high bilirubin and is under the special lights now. The nurse called me at 6 with the lab result.
absolutely true!
Specially previous entrees about how PETA gave fur coats to homeless people because that is ok right as they are donated and fur there for isn't murder
Seriously, I can get regular pasta for $1 (or less)/lb... the whole wheat or high fiber is $2.50 for a 12 oz. box!
Oh poor baby. Best wishes to them Scrabbler
Ah... poor baby. Take care of the kids Scrabbler!
thank you for all that you do scrabs
Make your own pasta
It is upsetting to parents to have to stay longer than they wanted
$11 for A1??? Is it special A1 or something??
OK Herin, now you're just talking crazy! LOL.
no! just bog standard! but it's an Imported Special America Thing *facepalm*
JM, I do my best and try to not lose my mind. Actually I lost my mind years ago.
What i will show you the article
I stock up when I go to Oregon!
Well, Scrabbler, I am sure you can make them understand that it is in the best interests of the bably.
if I come to england I will bring you A1 ata--that is just rediculous!
OH the Pasta thing? easy as
I believe A1 is lower on the supermarket food chain that ketchup here in the States. What the hell are they putting in it in the UK, cocaine?
Bye kids. Enjoy the day!
bye scrabs!
What about FiberGourmet?
Bye, Scrabbs!
Just mix Ketchup and worchestershire sauce... voila! A1.
lol I bring A1 back, and take over our cool ketchup varieties
Oh, there may be some molasses and brown sugar in it as well...
You don't ahve A1 Ata?
good point, mom!! I must try that
*finding just a few more words...I can never leave when I want to*
Wait... I am checking the bottle in my cabinet.
Is n't that Brown sauce?
there is a little more to A1 that that mom
I don't care for A1. Tastes weird to me. I don't eat beef anyway, so feh.
um Ata don't you have A1 in England?
A1 without beef is probably not so good
well, no
ingredients in A-1 Ingredients: Tomato Puree (Water, Tomato Paste), Distilled Vinegar, Corn Syrup, Salt, Raisin Paste, Crushed Orange Puree, Spices and Herbs, Dried Garlic and Onion, Caramel Color, Potassium Sorbate (to Preserve Freshness), Xanthan Gum.
154/165---bye for real.
raisin past?
Nan... I was just going to do that, LOL.
Hun its HP sauce in england
mmmmmmmm. Xanthan gum!
bye scrabs!
it's not the same as HP
Seriously though... if I don't have steak sauce I just mix ketchup and worchestershire... tastes fine!
sorry my bad
I was thinking HP brown sauce.
Certainly you could add some brown sugar or (yikes!) honey for some sweetness.
and garlic and onion powder
As soon as i said it i was all opps
hi all
Hi Boo
hi Boo
hi boo
Hey, Boo!
did you say a grid word herin? should I go back and look?
morning, big grid
hi dorens
I am glad it is a big grid -- I need the distraction
Hi Doorens
NO JM I didn't
oh goodness I don't. but i'm glad it pleases someone. hi herin
Ata\: http://tinyurl.com/mfjahr
ooh too bad -- always looking for a leg up
you put your leg up and we can see your underpants
lol espit that won't work I wear jeans all the time
ok, no problem then
OMG... my 13-year-old daughter is just whining away this AM.... I am trying very hard to block her out, LOL!
try phenobarbitol
just ignore her--it build character
LOL Esprit... would if I thought I could get away with it!
*builds
JMC... she just gets louder, LOL!
ATA i just found this too very interesting shopping idea: http://tinyurl.com/nltcz7
back in a minute...now she needs the computer "for a minute".... LOL!
I am a believer in baby barbiturates
Tell said bratling if she doesn't shut it then she can do the washing and hanging out to dry for a month
Giver her a chore to do, mom. That will shut her up/
I was just thinking the same
ATA you there
that's cool!
I remember once telling my mother I had nothing to do. She handed me an iron and a stack of shirts and said "Now you have something to do"
this is why i dont have kids just cats no one complains if you shut them in the laundry
Ata did you get the A1 sauce link to?
yes :)
Good. That supermarket link is fairly cool to I want that here save me a packet
My mother was much the same, Jean. If I ever whined about being bored, I ended up cleaning cobwebs or washing windows. I leared to occupy myself.
Oh and I don't think you heard about the big Supermarket here finally doing the right thing.
*learned*
exactly judi . . . never made that mistake again
my son told me he was starving to death (for about 15 minutes as I was finishing something up) so I told him he was going to learn what that meant and did feed him tell the next morning.
what is a courgette?
what age was he?
zucchini
he was 10
ty ata
i ilove zucchini.
I thought they were called marrow in GB
Ata you will be pleased to know that one of our supermarkets has ditched the Goods and Service Tax on feminine hygiene products. The public spoke and they listened.
nope, marrows are bigger
i thought courgette
yay!
my brit neighbor would always take my over grown zucchini and make stuffed marrow
good news herin!
lol yep
ten is old enough to know how to make a pbj, or even a grilled cheese sandwich, and certainly old enough to forage in the fridge and find something on his own
Now all they need to do is ditch the GST on baby nappies and food and we would be happier. That and petfood
At the age of 10 I was making 3 course meals.
ten is old enough not to bother me when I am working
tax on feminine neccessities? i'm shocked
yep Dorens its a GSt we as the public said no to it and the government went ahead any way
are all the z words zi?
zi, zo, zo
emil
ty ata
zo6 and 7 type of herpes
aacchh run away!
zi4/9 type of wine followed by findel
hi:)
Hi all, ten is both old enough to not bother people when working and to be able to ambulate self to kitchen and eat some crakers.
I personal feel and think that feminine hygiene products and baby products that are biodegradable / earth friendly should be cheaper
obviously i raised bum
i'm ambulating now to make my (very late) breakfast. bbl
HI again Mom
;-)
I dont think so jmc. I caught myself saying the other day I was starving. Then suddenly all these images of real starving children came into my mind.
A lot of my class mates have been bemoaning (heck including me) the bored factor as we have a four week brake. I said that we need to remember how bored we are now when it comes to studying like loonies next term
there's always volunteer work
we do use language too loosely red
I can't think of the last time I was bored
Well, I think its Ok jmc, but....
I can't really either. I am a bit frustrated today but not bored.
I am always so happy to have a chance to just sit!
My kid typed that hi :).... so I was not ignoring anyone who said Hi back... she just told me... too much for Hollywood that one!
nor me! or at least for more than about 3 seconds
well tell here hi back!
Hi Kid.
Bring back child labour and no more taxes on feminine hygiene products! Join the march!
well red I would want to become the word police either--but it is good to think about what we are really saying
my child is 23 now
*would NOT want to become the word police
She left for swim team practice... thank God!
my typing today is terrible
mom is free at last!
Esprite we only have 4 weeks off. Its a good time to relax and recoup our brains
she needed the computer to type "hi" to us????
for some reason I cannot see one single of the 9 A's from the right column
yeah.. for 1-1/2 hours... then she comes home and hubby has a 12:00 early dismissal today... ugh1
now that I said so I just saw 2
3
Good job Jean.
go esprit go
jmc... no she checked her mail and did some nonsense on facebook!
lol
Ok that is it my cat was a lawyer in a past life. He is technically not on madams pillow. He is really near it maybe a paw but not on it.
Facebook. Twitter. I just don't get it.
I tried to encourage her to use her time more wisely... like throwing her laundry in the machine.
meeting is over!!!! I survived!
good cat
MR PRESSSSSSSS
Judi... I go on FB now and again... twitter is way too obtrusive for me to even think about!
judi, nothing to get... boycotted twitter
whoo hoo mr p!
I Mr. P.
Hiya, Mr. P!!!!
Lordy, I am making lunch and have just noted its 9:44.
JM he was bemoaning daddy going to bed and smacked the door hord
hi girls!!!
really hungery red?
It's bad enough that people can reach me by cell phone whenever they want... plus I am just not that interested in what Ashton Kutcher is doing every 2 minutes.
hi MrP!
Sometimes I make dinner at 8 a.m.... but I don't serve it until 6 pm... LOL.
I ate breakfast at 4 am, thought I was going to run, but I have actually too much pain, so its really time. almost 5 hours.
Twitter Please pay attention to the first four letters of that word
Amen, Mom. I don't want to be that accessible to that many people. And, I much prefer real friends to virtual ones.
poor red
too right infern
Ouchie Red
I think I'll live.
I like that herin!
Twitter drives me nuts.
We certainly want you to live, Red.
when my mother was in crisis this week the various official people kept saying:doesn't your sister have a cell phone?
Yes Judi... real friends are better! My FB friends are my real friends...
I said--yes, but she doesn't answer it
Dear world. I just got up to scratch. Dear world I went to the loo. Dear world. I am very bored. Dear Person saying Dear World: I don't care thank you
And Babble friends are priceless, of course.
I have to admit, I had to force my Mom to get a cell and she still cant figure out how to answer it. she can make calls though, sooo.
After my mother had a near-fatal car wreck we made her get a cel phone... we pay for it... they are good to have.
my sister doesn't want to be that accessible
LOL herin.
she has it in the car for if/when she needs help
Same with my mother JMC
but even I can't call her
I have my cell as my primary phone, I dont have to answer it if I dont want to...
It is funny the way people now think you're an alien if you don't have a cell phone. It's like we've grown a technilogical appendage that we can't live without.
My land line comes with my cable/internet package or I would not have one at all.
I got a blackberry the last time
My parents have a mobile for emergencies which is good as they live in a fairly inaccessible area.
My mobile is my land line
the only thing I can't figure out how to do is play and chog babble
Crap. I can't spell.
I like my blackberry, but love my iPhone!
JMC you don't you need to pic one
That would be dangerous for me, JMC
I think Judi things have very much changed, My mindset now STILL is to drive home anduse my cell to make a call, but people 10 yrs younger, just make the call from wherever.
Ha. My nephew calls his Blackberry (imposed on him by work - so he says) the "crackberry".
I have in9/60, clue for the other 9?
well judi there was a time when people thought that about phones at all
Would love to get an iPhone, but not in the cards right now.
lots of people call it that.
but it allows me to quickly delete lots of emails w/o opening so I love it
It irritates me that they have cut a lot of pay phones back. It also irrites me that it has taken all this time to make a mobile that is designed for older people
herin what do you mean I don't need to pic one?
there are almost no pay phones left in DC
Pick either the chog or babble or do what i do. Not pay attention to babble and just randomly type in words
clue for ag 8 pls
unstable at times
ag8... good luck boo! LOL
oooh I may have to try that
I was lonely for the chog when I was on the road
awww Jm
I am regularly known for doing several things at once all badly
its not that I am friendless in the nonether world, but I like my ether friends too
That's called multi-tasking, herein. Quality, not quantity.
yep
Or rather, quantity, not quality. Obviously I can't type and think at the same time.
ag 8: same four letters as other ag words + no r*** for the weary + Gore

Lunch!

hi jacq :)
Tofu is a curious creation. I can only tolerate it in a few things though. Like miso soup and lasagna.
facinating! one word for it anyway
319 wow, well won't get it finished in an hour but i can put a good sized dent in it
Not bad at all Jaq

what's your game plan MrP?
I skipped the gym this am because I drove 10 hours yesterday arriving at home at 3 am
go Mr P!
I replaced sex with food and now i can't even get in my own pants
sex is better than food
I've skipped the gym all years because . . . um oh, that's right, I HAVE no good reason
The Gym is fun!, I swear I'm in the minority here.
Jean, it is now sex!
you sure are
I don't like to sweat
hey good for yu MrP!
I like going to the gym I was just afraid I would fall asleep and drop the weights on my head
does Lickety know?
I gotta admit, I like to sweat. oddly.
i don't sweat -- I glow!
I am a southern lady!
I mean at the gym that is, not just randomly.

Good morning all
Hi Dr
turning 40 has not been a deception!!
hi DR
Oh and Jm me in a skirt or dress very rare
too true
Hi Herin, Mr P , JMC,
Hi Dr.
ah 40 really was the best age
I do not wear dresses or skirts very much either
Hi RED!
but I went to the fat phat lady shop and got a "boho chic" long dress the other day
I liked the 30s
how incredible is it to be 40 and turned up to 20!!
I would like to erase my 20's
the dress looked like some I would have worn in college only fatter
30's were better for me.. so far 40's are not the gr5
I admit to wearing a skirt at least 4 times a week, nice in the heat.
my husband died at the beginning of the 40s for us so I am probably prejudiced
you must have nice legs Red
skirts are nice in the really hot and humid weather
so young jm! sorry
oh man jmc! that is aweful!! so sorry
she didn't say how long the skirt was--
Nup Shorts. JMC hugs
thanks it was a long time ago now
My skirts only just cover the recent bruising! LOL
skirts vary in length, but are nicer than shorts.
i was divorced at 39, and came into my own at 40 (and i had nice legs, and was 25 pounds lighter than i am now)
mr p you are certainly racy today!
I wear shorts alot!
ag 6/24 please?
i iwear long shorts (an oxymoron)?
I would like to erase my 20s and have what i have now then
I am allergic to sunshine (I break out into a rash) so I don't wear short anything
in fact the burka is looking pretty good
I want the extra ten years that i have with the person i have now
add a cons to the ag5/14
to answer in the affirmative lynn
jmc, that is a terrible afflication, i am so sorry.
my dad is allergic to the sun.. he has to wear special lotions
the nice thing about the 30 and 40 is that you are young enough to do things and old enough not to be too stupid about it.
if he forgets his face gets red as a beet
ag 6/24 please?
it is red but I won't die of skin cancer!
SO TRUE Jmc!
I have crammed my 20's into a mental book that refuses to open. I don't ahve that lynn
i better go to bed, see you all later!!
true, I probably will, I am terrible about sun screen and do spend more than an average amt of time outside.
Night Mr Pres
my 20s were a lot of fun!
Have fun MR P : )
but the stupid things I did!
lynn see clue at 9:22
sweet dreams mrP
I agree, jmc, I did a few interesting 20's things.
bye mr p -- keep those ankles crossed til the brusing heals
I hated my 20's in fact i am still trying to deny the excistance of it
have that the one after ha?
you may look at them more fondly in 10 years herin
that
No i want JM trust me on that.
brb
ty
my dad told me the best contraception to take.... was the pill... put it between my knees and hold it there!

Hiya! Could someone please explain to me, how the tile and word stats work?
I freely admit that ru... I DO have a life, and 300+ grids are not compatable with it
ok, will keep looking
hey ru.... question...
siobhan try the help section above chat it explains all of that
well,it was Ithink aboout 130words, but hardf or people to finish.
read the help and then come back with questions sio
When you take something back you Re***** and then you personalise it
sure?
Sorry.
I know it has been awhile, so you may not remember, but what were the names of the 3 restaurants you recommended in Paris?
hikje
same its an re9 and 10
today is my do nothing day so I am all set...
hi jmc
oh.. gosh.. I can go to my file.. when are you going?
no problem sio
(and this is a bit of a biggie...I am just picking on you)
no prob, ru - I do not mind you picking on me... most of the time - LOL
Just looked at the Help... no mention of the tile and word stats in it. Sorry I asked, though.
no no what are you trying to understand sio?
a friend asked, and goes in a couple weeks... I can't remember the name of the first one we went to which was my fave... not l'oulette, but another small neighborhood one
word stats are how many words you have left
tile stats are how many words can be found in the grid
Only what they mean... I don’t understand the numbers with the slashes?
i can look them up later for you
siobhan, the tilestateshave twonumbers in them. Say 2/10 it means you got 2 of the 10wordsformed from that letter.
Please may I have a clue for the E in the right hand column? I can't seem to find it, but I am sure it is a fish!
Oh, thank you!
the left number is how many you have found starting with that tile
thanks ru - you are a gem
the right number is how many there are on the grid
i dont have that either auntie!
if you like, just stick it in your profile and I'll look there
Yes, that tile stat explanation makes sense, thanks! Still not sure of the word stats?
will do.. I will get it on later today
I think that e is the ea6 (pl of ea5)
thanks
word stats tell you how many of how long words there are and you have gotten
Welcome sio! We warn you, this game is addicting :) There are affiliated websites with it that have 'help' lists of the first two letters of each word --- one of our favorites is Lickety's Babble Clues - link at bottom of page
Sio,the green number is the number ofletterin each word, and then the 2numbers in the boxarethenumber ofwordsthatare4or5 letterslong.
TTFN babblers - must get back to work... good luck to all you die-hards who started this behemoth
so 4 45/112 means I have found 45 of 112 4 letter words
red you've given up using spaces between your words today??
bye kje
Oh Darn, i justcleanedkeyboard and now spacebar isproblematic.
bye kje
bye KJE!
bye kje
since I couldn't care less about my ranking I am free to start and stop!
Yes wild, very annoying it is.
hi wild and ch1212
i'm sure
Oh... are the numbers in the green squares indicative of the size of the words? Would “4 50/112†mean 4-letters words and there are 50 of them?
Same here jmc
i'm dealing with a tempermental mousie right now .... sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesn't
help with S in left column pls
no it means you have found 50 of the 112 - 4 letter words on the grid
not quite sio - it means 4 letter words but there are 112 of them, and you've found 50
good news bout the cat peri!
It means there are 112 and you have 50 of them
hi jmc. I agree -- a few years ago I made it up to #3 on one of the rankings, and then realized I have a better time playing if I just .... play :) So now I stop/start and just have fun.
SO 4/4...I think!
and I haven't had a q key in months
Oh I see... thank you for that!
so4/4

tertiare wants to know if you are taking her to lunch today??? I think not....
you're very welcome, and welcome to babble!
and I told her--I never look
First day trying this, sorry for the questions!
No...Friday....
what do I do about what red?
check the help section first, but always feel free to ask
Thank you, wildcat!
sio, we all ask each other for help -- that's part of the fun of chat. Welcome!
I still haven't figured out the E word!!!!!
it is a friendly if weird crowd sio
There isn’t a lot in the Help?
Weird? I’m used to weirdness.
now once you're hooked you'll want to pay for the membership .. otherwise all those stats at the bottom will go away
afternoon everyone :-)
just enough help in Help to get started
car, if you want the far right e, it's a plural.
me neither!
maybe not, but underneath all the stats are a whole bunch of links, and you'll find a lot of help there
funny sio but that is what everyone who comes here says! lol
I know...I just don't think I have the singular!
I've always been rubbish on the rankings, luckily i'm not competitive and am on the village elders page
Yes, so I understand, wildcat. I probably will soon!
Brit spelling of ardent/hungry ea5/14 then pl.

Well I’ve known some very weird people.
still need help with S in left column pls

man, I am so grumpy! Secondo has her friends over for the first time in 100 years, and tertiare is up their butts. I can hear her hollering from up here...time to intervene
Only for200, but...
Oooh! Red! Buy Trif curtains!
Oh no! I had to take Crumble off the curtains a few weeks ago as she decided to go after a spider at the top, got her before the pole broke luckily and was chucking out the curtains anyway
Yes,peri, It closed on Tuesday...
I would dance jig for a 200 dollar check
:( o great another rainstorm
Congrats, to you red, must be a big relief
*tuning up fiddle*
You would dance less if you had just spent 1800 to fix the septic. the200 is nice, but....
JMC...hold out for more...especially if there is a pole involved...!
well done red, that must be such a relief!
And yes,Peri, I am so relieved, I amalmost non functional.
lol car!
I would pole dance for 22
Still can't monkey the ER 6!
crap, that was supposed to say "200"
$22 thats not enough trif
I'd get paid 22 not to pole dance lol
car, the third letter is a snake
So, if the double helping of waffles wasn't bad enough...bring on the pringles!
still money back is money back
I'd get paid $1,000 not to pole dance *flops belly fat around*
*wonders how jmc knows the going ra** for pole dancing*
er6 was my first word!
LOL katie
ha 6/21 # 1?
clue for gr 6/24
well katie it may have gone up since then. . . .
I had a health check today the result of which was "not bad for a fat girl", though obviously put much nicer
boo, it's a plural
lol katie
LOL - me too, Katie!
Oooh! Miss Nikki! BRB!
oh, katie! :(
I got asked this recently - would you rather be in perfect health, but a few pounds heavier than you would like, or underweight, but with health issues?
the first which is what I am
perfect health!
The first.
the first
I said the first too. Health issues can really diminish a life. If I could have perfect health to do all the activites I love, who cares if I do them with a fat ass?
sorry need a break -- not enough sleep la4 night
bbl
lol Trif :-)
hollering level has escalated. bbl
bbl yoo
I mean too
I'd better go and look like I don't spend my life on the computer
JMC isalawyer, she knows the going rate for everything.
Oh, nice.

umbrella.
how come you can have rugrats but not ragrats
haha ill try to find one bye

Maybe you can if you have rags on your floors instead of rugs? Or ragrugs?
We have a kitchen mat that is a small rug made from woven multicoloured acrylic rags.
Is this the game where where two English-speaking players are shown a sentence in a foreign language that neither of them speak, and are presented with a list of possible meanings (in English) below each word. Players try to agree upon a set of English words that forms the most coherent sentence
no uc it is not.
Where can I play that game developed by Luis Von Ahn?
No ucfalum. You enter as many words as you can see in the puzzle to the left of this, into the slot that says “Add Word†immediately beneath the puzzle.
No idea, sorry.
The guy who invented the Captchas?
Ok, thanks
Hi...I'm trying to sway Nikki to come to the Babble dark side....
Dont know uC, but this isnt it. Guess you watched Nova this week.
Yep
Human Computation seems awesome to me and that babble translation game seems cool
sounds interesting though. If you find it, let us know please
Yes it does.
I will, I don't get this game
I am writing words that I see, but I get "rage" does not exist?
Rage or Steep as an example
It’s a word search, ucfalum. You find as many words in the puzzle as you can and enter them below it.
the lettershave to connect like in Boggle. Rage connect...
ok no P
It's like Scrabble. Letters have to connect.
urge does not connect in the puzzel
ok
Yes, sorry...didn’t explain that fully. The letters have to touch each other in each word.
My first day trying this!
in any order?
it's not a bad game
If you mean any direction, yes.
They have to be in order, though.
The words can bend, too.
you see the same puzzle as me?
for example GREET
Of course.
it's not all in the same direction but I got it
not in any order. and yes, we are all looking at the same puzzle.
There is one puzzle per day.
Yes, ucfalum...perfect.
Which is why we dont usually type words we find into chat.
That is one example.
Welcome to new babblers
ok, but it's a collective game, once we all find the words
Thanks Alleyn!
we are done?
yes once you find the words, you are done.
How about typing the 9s and 10s in!!!!
no each person finds the wrds on their own
It isn’t competetive, you’re just trying to complete the puzzle in your own time for fun.
allyn, I can clue the 9/10combo.
ok
Yes please
Well, Siobhan, there are stats kept and some people are competitive...
Both are re's
meaning togo back on an agreement...
re + consonant +the ci6 word...
and the the third letter is?
Oh okay, red...I’m not though. I just enjoy things like this for fun and to stimulate my mind.
wellthen that would be spelling the wordthen Alleyn1!!
last st 6./18?
You would probably like cryptograms then
there is only one consonant between the re and the ci/6 word
Thank you so much
Thanks red...got that, as it’s a word I already knew but for some reason didn’t see.
love cryptograms!
the long ones can be hard to find.

Hi, Ata!
Hello everybody
Who is the soldier boy in your pic, Ata?
Capt Jack! from Torchwood
Capt Jack would be welcome to torch my wood anytime!!!
Don't know it. He is quite dashing though.

Your punishment it to stay here, with the tramp!!

Ata - is Torchwood a film, or a series?
BBC series
Is it still running on TV?
new series starts monday :)
*from face deep in Haagen Daas*. Yesh, he is scrumptious. Can't be English. His teeth are too perfect. *ducks flying debris*
he's half scot half american :P
Note to self: Keep Monday nights free.
Ah. A hybrid.
What is his real name, Ata?
yep. his teeth are the american bit
John Barrowman
I think he should be deported back to America immediately. Directly to my house.
join the queue!
he is gay, though. but we can still look!
good afternoon, folks!
AA6/27!!! NOOOOOOO! I was going to be cynical and say he probably was.... oh my poor little hetero heart.
wow - what sort of conversation did I walk in on?
he's FAR too pretty to be straight!
I think the topic is matches not made in heaven.
What did Robbie Williams say in his song -All the best men are either married or gay. How true!
*sulking* Much prefer to think... "It's Raining Men".
yep, exactly
With my track record with men, it could be raining men, and I wouldn't even get splashed!!!
love that expression Soodle!
Well, first off, Soodle, you have to live where there's more men than sheep.
where men are men and sheep are nervous?
where men are men and sheep run scared!
Judi, judi, judi - I have had misfortunate experiences with men, but may I mention - Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan.... (need I continue)
Mary had a little lamb.
Her Father shot the shepherd
You can have Colin Farrel back. Liam's rather odd looking. Pierce is slipping a bit.
Soodlebum, there are lots of men--just in strange places. What is the ratio in Ireland of eligble men to women?
Crikey Stid. I never counted
clue for on 6/21
Well, I think you need a survey. My husband and I will be in Ireland the beginning two weeks of September. We can make it our project.

I hate S words
Oh my! Remove the 'R', and what have you got?
In Drung, I mean...lol
I know, right? who named that town!
Well, warn them, Trif - this is a different country these days. Such doom and gloom and recession is just unbelievable.
hmmm. I might NOT actually soodle. they are already stressed out enough about the trip, as they are going with just their dad, and they REALLY don't want to go, but they have to.
and it's pretty much what we have here, too, doom and gloom and all, so I would rather encourage them to enjoy their little cousins, and their gran's party and not worry about the other stuff.
Oooooh golly! How old are they?
13 and 10
Yikes!
I really wish I was going too, so we could meet up for a tea or something. would love to meet a babbler in the wild!

Hey..... less of the wild, please!! I'm actually quite civilized!
Is Haz coming this way too, Ata?

CROATIA has one, and we don't. Dubai has one, but we don't. sigh
Well, sounds as if you must go then.
Monsoon is the shop of shops! And theres a Monsoon outlet not too far from me here. -Bargains galore

ooooo show us a pic ata!
Clothing?
darn and my sister was just in Dubai
Croatia is surprising, but you know Dubai has a lot of things we dont have. sadly.
My daughter got her Debs (or Prom as you call it) dress there last weekend. at about 70% cheaper than the highstreet. God bless Monsoon!
yes red. check out their online site sometime, just to drool. i was on line last night, and it is very inspiring
will check it out,i doubt i'llbe doing any travel any time soon. out of the country that is.
Trif - pick your hearts delight from the website, and send the girls on a mission to Blanchardstown shopping centre. I'm sure they will appreciate a break from the unfortunately named Drung!
yes, me too. but it is a very, very good brain vacation
So many odd names in the world.
hmmm. blanchardstown is a bit of a haul from drung, isn't it? I think the one in Belfast may be closer
Come to think of it, I'm sure the good folk of Drung would appreciate a break from Drung too. Lol
LOL!!!
my favorite name for a town is cut-and-shoot
mine is Dildo
oh, hang on - there is a new highway between Dublin and Cavan end of things isn't there? should cut down on the travel time considerably

I always got a kick out of "Effin" in Ireland. Funny name for a town. "The Effin priest was here Sunday." "The Effin school choir sang at the graduation ceremony...."

hi again sio
hi siobhan!
okay, soodle -- true, and embarrassing confession - on my first trip to Ireland I thought every county had a town called "Ramps" because there seemed to be lots of black and white signs with arrows pointing the way to Ramps
I’m usually called Shivs for short, jmc. My name’s pronounced Shiv-ahn. It’s Irish.
Hi again. Got 92 left.

I like PD James
I think the richard jury and the lynley series are my euro faves

Oh please don't. Its my only excuse for being pathetic at finding words. I blame all the babblers!!
the little speech bubble above the chog
clue for sa6/21 at the bottom

I like PD James and Sayers too. been reading some Norweigian writerslately.

Hi everyone, finally home after 27 hours at hospital
trif, told you all I know from Mr Flosey, who will be going over tomorrow. He said mama is up and around but has stitches -- I suspect a C-section because there were hard contractions without dilatation earlier, but all is well now. Mr F is naughty and says the baby is perfect and has all 12 fingers and toes. Flosey will stay a while to help.
CONGRATS FLOSEY!!! How's the baby?
Ah! there you are, flosey in the flesh!

Take care flo ..
is master William your first grandbaby?
Normal...my boys are asking me, "what does this spell..." and then rambling off letters. They have discovered that if they say the letter "P" I then say the word "pee" and that is just hysterical to them. My life is so full....

I just read your profile jillibus. It is very interesting.
HI all. I was coming in earlier but there seemed to be a good-natured family arguement going on, and so I left again. I'm totally knackered after fruit picking, cooking, washing, ironing, bed changing etc in prep for our holiday next week. Later is packing - food, clothes etc., etc., but it's still too hot to sleep.
Congratulations secooper on fireworks! Good for you
OK, where is Duxbury?

finally got the re6 clue! thx
Sweet dreams, Min.
we are all completely sober and fine here...just joshing
Sure ..
May I please have a clue for re6-21 the 2nd? Thanks
Jilli - a neighbour of ours has had a buddleia bush growing from halfway up their chimney for about the past 16 years. It just got removed when new people moved in and had the roof redone. Do people really NOT look up at their rooves?
I have to drive home! of course I am just fine!
Sure ..
re6/21#2 -- ridiculous unword -- re + beloved
Glad to hear it, Trif!
Thanks, jillibus.
jac, -- lol! (what colour buddleia?)
yw peach -- ask away
oops -- supper calling -- back later! Sorry
2nd ar5?
Thanks, jilli. How about the re5-12 the 1st? Thanks
Jilli - I think the word applies to a type of sunfish known as the 'crimson auricle' (not really - re6/21 sunfish).
The lilac wild one, Jilli (re the butterfly bushon the chimney).
Sleep over if you can't drive ..
nm, got the ar5
Jili, I do the EXACT same thing! I put in a word, and pronounce it strangely, as I am looking at the structure of it
Drive over if you can't sleep!
Don't know the sunfish...thanks anyway, jilli.
Trif - I did that not long ago with a really simple, ordinary word - can't remember what it was now.
Sometimes, our brains' electrical pathways get clogged and we can't see the simplest things.
We only have to worry if the pathways get destroyed, as in Alzheimer's Disease and others like it.
But, as we age, our brain's filing cabinets are filled with so much info and on so many floors, it takes the clerk a bit longer to charge up and down, get his or her breath, and find it, and then relay the info back.LOL
and some of us are missing important folders if you know what I mean
So, next time someone asks you something you KNOW you know the answer to, just give the poor brain clerk a moment or two.
I like that Trifs ..
Indeed, ruru.
myself included
Jac, my brain is old and it leaks every so often. Sometimes what comes out of my mouth has no connection to what I'm thinking or talking about. That clerk gets in the wrong file!
Got that, Nef. Hasn't happened to me yet, but I don't doubt it will. It only happens now when typing under the 'affluence of incahol' or when very tired.
May I please have a clue for ra5-10 the 2nd? Thanks
and then somedays my mouth just won't say what my brain is thinking. I tried to say "Human chorionic gonadotropin" today; and there was no way it would come out! Thank goodness that initials work too!
I could once rattle off the English name and Latin name of every plant in my garden, and many of those that are not. These days, my brain goes blank when someone asks me what a particular plant is called. When I do find a name, it's usually the Latin name, which is odd, as I was rubbish at Latin at school.
you probably had to work harder at memorizing it; so it's stored in different parts of your brain now
2nd ea5/10 is the plural of ra4.4 (speed or tempo).
Nef - that might be so. Never thought of that.
Thing is, I usually find the Latin name of a plant by looking at it and describing it.
zo6 please?
I would have thought I'd have done that better in English.
rhymes with movie po6
zo6 - a form of Herpes.
chickenpox forward
aa5! I just found the aa5!
Shingles
Thanks, Jacula.
Well done, Dan.
Thank GOD....Fireworks! Wine for everyone!
congrats!
Well done, Kad. I'll have a chilled dry white wine, thanks.
WTG, kadresa! Woo Hoo for you!
wtg kad!
Here...let me get you a plastic cup...
why isn't argh a word? I use it all the time!
Kad - aa5/16 - you can't put wine in plastic. It makes it taste horrible!
My wine doesn't stay in the glass long enough to spoil.
Congrats, kadresa!!!
nm, I just answered my own question
LOL Kad.
Nef, 'enable' dictionary only recognises the more agonised form of the a word.:-)
ae5,12 anyone?
I noticed, jac. Thanks! :-)
Nef - you got the ar6 from that, too, I hope?
ae5/12 is a type of mosquito. ae + short form of Bishop Tutu's first name.
no yet jac; but I just got the 10 all by myself!
May I please have a clue for tr5-10 the 1st? Thanks
Or Reggae star Mr. Dekker's first name, or Mr. O'Connor's first name. Or maybe, changing last letter, Mr. Arnez (Lucille Ball's hubby)'s name.
I did get the mosquito, jac. Thanks
sorry, ga, I don't have it yet
Thanks anyway, Nef.
gapeach - tr5/10 (1st) - like the rubbish you throw out but with a different last letter that matches the penultimate letter.
Or thing of the tr5/10 (2nd) that is a lock of hair and change 2nd letter.
I meant 3rd letter, sorry!
Have it now, thanks, Jacula.
Anyway, I hope a;; pf the mad celebrating aunties have worked out where they're staying for the night before they go to see their new family member.
y/w Peach.
*Note to self* Clean keyboard thoroughly after holiday - it's sticking and is filthy again.*
hi all! help with last 2 words please?
Last RE6/18 please?
Son keeps trying to give me 'ergonomic' keyboards he's tried and rejected. As a classically trained typist, I don't want either a bendy, uppy or anything less than a normally stepped 'flat' keyboard. I'm a speed touch typist and anything off the norm will throw me.
Sorry, pug, I don't have it yet (first 100 down!)
re + 'on the t*** of the lonesome pine',pug but take the 'i' out.
ag8,50 - is it related to the other ag words?
dont know the reference jac but ty for trying
No, forward, it's not. It's a field related word.
May I please have a clue for sa5-10 the 1st? Thanks
also need the ER6 if anyone has a clue please?
ag + when you're tired you need a **** + first name of Mr. Bundy from 'Married With Children'.
ty Jacula
sa5/10 (first) rhymes with the ha meat. Or is like lettuce, tomatoes, celery etc sa*** but with a diff last letter.
er6 = a substitute or fake. Uses the 6-point tile.
ah monkeys found the RE6
er + was seated + high point consonant.
ty vm Jac! & fireworks
y/w Pug and congrats.
couldn't stand packing it in if that close to finishing!
e're all tryers here, pug.x
Thanks, Jacula, but I have that one as the 5 sa5-10....maybe you could reword it a little please?
*We're.
Bloody keyboard! LOL
WHOO HOOO Ms Pug!!
not going to make it to flip,YAWN, HI MET DEAR!
Hey, pugmama...great going!!!!
ta 6/6 - its a bone
sa5/10 (2nd) is the tangy tomato relish you put on burritos etc.
or a dance
Hi, sweetie
Or a type of sexy dance.
jinx
LOL. sug. Yes.
not used to seeing you attack such a big grid on a work night dear!
I've been trying to persuade my other half to go to sa5/10 classes with me for ages.
He won't and I haven't yet, either.
Just need the first sa5-10.
its the best bonding moment two souls intertwined can embrace in a moment in time!
I decided that since tomorrow is my holiday, and I get paid anyway, I'm not going to work - get a jump start on my Vacation!!
gap - sa* (short form of the girl in our alley, Gracie fFields song) + Mr. Bundy's first name. Or Mr. Gore's.
ciao all
aha! mental health day!
Thank much, Jacula.
sug - Damn! I wish I could get him to go. I have a good left foot and a crap right one, a good left hip and a rubbish left one, and he's a foot taller than me with no sense of rhythm (so he thinks).
I want to dance with him!
I just said Screw 'em, they'll run without me
Mel - if that makes you happy, go with it.
indeed, they'll manage.
Lots of stuff I have to do - having the 2nd date at my place on Sunday!!
oooh ! I want all the dish! and it will have to be juicier than the first one was!!!!!
We've becom full time parents when we were never parents in the first place and, to quote something my recently moved in with us stepdaughter said last night, 'I want quality time'. When DID kids first learn all this psychobabble??
There'll be no dish - we're taking it slow and getting to know each other, we'll go to a movie and grab a bite.
oh PUH LEEZ! there's ALWAYS dish amongst sisters dear!
No, really, dear, so far, so good, he's a nice boring Jewish boy, just what I need.
I meant when we never never parents together of the same child. I have 2 grown-up kids and he has 1 14-yr-old, and, when we got togeether, I told him I didn't want anymore kids.
yea I could use one of those!
anyone have a clue for the 3rd de 4,5 please?
keeping my fingers crossed for ya hon...
We'll see....
more than one of the 4th letter CWEST
If you lot are going to start all of this Jewish talk, I may have to wake my 42-year-old Jewish bachelor friend up and introduce him to you. That's if he hasn't got the sound turned right down on his MSN so his Mum can't hear us talking.
It IS my first time dating someone in quite a few years, I'm rusty, there's bound to be mistakes along the way, who knows???
hi all. How's it?
you'll be fine dear! just be your wonderful self!
AUTUMN!!!!!
I amy be biased but what's not to love?
I don't see any takers for my Jewish bachelor. Come on girls!
{{{{ I don't have ADD, do I? Oh, look - a chicken!!!}}}}
met - there are no mistakes - only life lessons!
You are so right, Autumn - how have you been, dear?
BLAH-HAHA
life has been busy. Finally finished the flooring and painting. Moved upstairs from the basement. Got all my stuff from storage and have been slowly unpacking everything. I haven't completed a grid in months!
Can't one of you give my friend the thrill of his life? He thinks his parents are holding him back, but, actually, they're not...
de5-12 the 4th please. Thanks
well Jac if you can get him to PA for me I'll take a look...
thanks pug
That's why I haven't seen you for so long!!
Pug - if he could be moved out of his attic room in North London,, with all of its catalogued shelves of tapes, cds and dvds, his parents wouldn't keep going away on holiday so often. None of us can shift him!
sometimes its the easy ones that give me the most fits!
sounds like Mets cup of tea there!
hey - has anyone watched Jamie Oliver's new "food revolution" show?
and too many refils on the wine!
I only know him through the internet, and he has sent me some lovely bouquets of flowers, but shift him from London? Not done yet in 7 years of chatting.
I was about to say, dear...
stubborn bugger eh? But he does sound like match for you Met!
Last time his Mum answered the 'phone to me, she was most 'unJewish Mother' - 'Hello. Cam you get **** out of his room and into life?'
LOL
*off to play in the grid for a while*
Sounds like I'd like to get him out of his room and into the Jacuzzi!!!
haven't been to London since I was 12 so I guess I'm out....
Met - I must make a pint of trying to introduce you two when I come back from my holiday in a week's time.
In a week I'll be visiting with Ms Pug!!!
is he gay or a switch hitter or does Met have to convert him?
I'm not sure K is gay though, Met. I think he might be shy. He did run a page 3 site on the net.
gee my experience is jewish boys are not boring. they are challenging.
At the very least, we have the music and DVDs in common
as a matter of fact smart people are challenging period and most jewish guys are smart. dumb is good. dumb is content.
mkg - challenging - the right word. Do their mothers or their rabbis make them like that?
my dad used to say he envied the factory workers who were IQs of 100 or less. they were so so happy with their lives.
K IS smart but naive also, I think.
speak for yourself! dumb is a yawn or infuriating ....
nope not mothers or rabbis. it is the IQ. non jews who are smart are also challenging.
i am so much stupider than my hubby and i am so much happier.
Dumb is DEFINITELY irritating....
K once asked me to marry him, but I declined. He is not really my type, despite the flowers, and I am not Jewish, and I do know he wants to please his parents.
doesnt matter if jewish or christian or what. if you are very smart you are a mess.
a shrink friend told me the smarter the more discontent. i believe it.
Opinion, mkg, mere opinion.
it is true the dolts are seldom as neurotic as the intelligent...
ok i agree but it is also my experience.
My son is very smart and he would not say he is a mess, though I think he is. I, too, was once very smart but am now 'a mess'. LOL
that's because ignorance is bliss.....
when i have clients who arent very smart, wow, they are so lovely to deal with.
yup ignorance is bliss. totally agree
if I don't know what I don't know, then I don't know I'm missing anything, eh pug?
anyone on this chat doing the grid is smart. period. so we are all full of issues. none of us would be easy to live with. i am not for sure.
You're now confusing ignorance with just plain nice.
You're now confusing ignorance with just plain nice.
mkg - I know you didn't mean that to sound condescending, but it did - as do me and my kids when we chat amongst ourselves and get overheard.
smart muslim men are a nightmare.
People can be smart and nice , or can be dolts and difficult.
indeed, even in my own family. The happiest person is the only one with a less than remarkable IQ
did you see the movie with sally fields "not without my daughter"? if not see it! amazing. smart muslim man............
true, true, met
condescending to who? sorry if i am insulting anyone.
I think you're al right re less smart = more happy. Less to get annoyed or worry about, Iguess.
ok ok i agree i am stereotyping. apologies.
Is all this an excuse for dumbing down?
mkg - condescnding in that, in today's oh to PC world, thinking or saying anyone is less intelligent than yourself is frowned upon.
met, i am not saying smart is not nice. but smart is still very very keenly perceptive and that makes them discontent. it is not an issue of not nice. a person can be very nice but inside be suffering.
OH HELL NO!!!
well guess i flunk PC 101. sorry all.
endlessly lament the dumbing down of America...
Of course, there will always be the thinkers, the movers and the workers. Look at the ants and the bees - they still work on that understanding.
PC is largely a crock.
but please dont misunderstand me. i am not saying smart means not nice. i am saying smart people are keenly aware and therefore they analyze and are upset by their own shortcoming and limitations and that makes them unhappy. unhappy does not equal nasty! one of the nicest men i know is a sweet guy, a doctor, who is very depressed. and very smart.
I spent my youth trying to get people to think I was not as bright as I really was, but in spite of that, got known as "the brain".
Jilli - dumging down?? NEVER! As my son would say in jest - nuke everyone with an IQ less than ours.
so how do you feel about that title now jilli?
i was always an underachiever. now i know i have add.
I hear ya Jilli...got called "Miss Dictionary " in grade school..
I was perfectly happy in spite of many problems (WW2 caused) and so were several of my super-bright cousins
I was t'The Vicar' when I got a 1st at RE in my firstyear of secondary school.
isnt argh a word? as in the sound???????
I just hate to hear people talking about "elitism" as if it were a terrible thing. What's a heaven for?"
MY GOD! I f I hear one more TV News show about Wacko-Jacko I will projectile hurl!
I've never been unhappy with myself andmy intellect, unless outside influences have worked on me to make me feel less worthwhile, My son teels me that's a weakness. I thinkm though I have no awareness of having taught him to be like that, that he's my alter-ego. My daughter is also now very pro-self.
mkg -- double some letters
mkg, stretch it out
ty. dumb grid. argh should work too. dont they read comics? argh is a great word.
I have two great kids who know who they are and what they want out of life. I hope I've done my job.
pug -- I've been tuning to BBC World and Canadian news channels for a bit of relief.
ok so why do they double both letters? very strange
mkg you have a point but it doesn't stand up. Less intelligent people can be easily intimidated by the fast pace of our changing world and know they don't have as many choices as more clever people. Paperwork can be overwhelming and job choices are more likely to disappear on them. They have stress
oh got it with only one doubled.
the aa6 doubles 2
ok i need some clues.
Ok my lovlies,I'm fading fast...off to bed for me.Happy Babbling all!! nighty night!
ok bugs. you have a point.
about 300, mkg?
anyone have a clue for me? only have the 9 that is the 10 singular. need other one.
what about 300? i only have 151. goal is half way tonight. then sleep.
currently, is seems bright people are sneered at
jilli you slay me...
poof!
lol, pug :)
I liked MJ and was sorry he died, and think he's ben manipulated for far too long and not given the psychiatric help he needed. I haven't been following all of the news, but, if the conspiracy theories are corect and we see a hooded figure in North Devon next week (he planned to move there), I'll let you know. Actually, I won't. Since we plan to move there oursselves eventually, we didn't want any Jacksons there - press, fans, too much fuss etc.
does anyone have clues to share with me? need second 9, and need one more c word............
Jilli - my daughter was sneered at in the school I've just sent my stepdaughter to for 'being a BoFF'/
second 9? Can you be more specific please, so we don't have to search through over 300 words to figure out which one that is?
i only have 2 grey ones. and the h of course. so that is bad.
wot's a BoFF?
Didn't stop her getting to Uni though and it won't stop my 'step' when she settles in.
sorry must go to lickety. didnt yet.
about time, mkg
A BoFF is someone who wants to work in school.
what does it stand for?
Someone who seems to know more than their year group.
...and I always thought I knew what a boff was....
Can't remember now, jilli.
oh, big help!
Ah, I remember, it's short for BOFFIN. But I'll bet the kids who use the word BoFF don't know that.
I wasn't even a swot -- just cought on fast and had a good memory.
United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, boffins are scientists, engineers, and other people who are stereotypically seen as engaged in technical or scientific research. Also, a boffin is a particularly clever person. 'Boffin' is an insult used by British teenagers. American equivalent is "Egghead"[1]. The word may conjure up images of men in thick spectacles and white lab coats, obsessively working with complicated apparatus. Portrayals of boffins emphasize both their eccentric genius and their naive ineptitude in social interaction. They are, in that respect, closer to the "absent-minded professor" stereotype than to the classic mad scientist. Alec Guinness's character in the film The Man in the White Suit (1951) is a classic example of an eccentric and obsessed boffin.
That's from Wiki
aahhh, that makes sense -- boffins -- WW2 brains
Jilli - same here re swot.
but sneered at, see? (ADORED the Man in th White Suit)
But I went to a grammar school where we were all expected to be high achievers, so none of that boFF stuff went on.
need ag 8 plz.
Ditto at the "Public" schools I went to. We were just expected to do our best.
ag + **** in Peace, Mr Gore.
..And I just started a sentence with 'but' and another with'And'. My old Eglish teacher would kill me if she saw that/
*English. Sorry Mrs, Roberts.
Ah yes. Not to start with "however" either...
off to bed for me. have a great night all.
'Night Autumn.
jac, interesting comma after Mrs. There is a theory that if an abbreviation ends with the same last letter as the full word, there should be no "full stop" ("period" in American). Such as Dr and Mr and Mrs (Mistress)
I'm not too worried about my old English teacher or my old Art teachers. I did both proud some years ago and will again in the future.
night autumn -- long tome...!
*time
It was a typo, Jilli.
I know, jac, but how about the Dr and Mr and Mrs
cant get that 8 that is the peace clue. any others?
I may have done the comma after the Mrs. in some kind of Freudian way, because I know she left her police sargeant hubbby, got back to being a hippy and went to teach English in an inner city school with 'difficult' kids.
got that ag 8. ty for clue.
mkg -- don't you know what R.I.P. stands for?
I'm old-fashioned, Jilli. I'll still go for the full stops.
yes i do just didnt know the word ended with Gore first name.
never mind the comma, jac -- don't you get my question about the lack of a punctuation mark under those circumstances?
need ae 5 first one please.
Jac, it's nothing new. My father favoured it.
ae5 is the yellow fever mosquito -- ae + first 3 letters of Mr Arnaz
ty got it.
I saw a sign from USA on TV that confused me recently - it was a sign for a lawn firm owned by a female but read, can't remember her name now, so I'll make one up: 'Sarah Rice esq.
yw
Esq - short for esquire, was the forerunner of 'Mister'/Mr.
Ah -- Jac, that's an American title for a lawyer -- most peculiar IMnotsoHO
gee cant even finish the a words.
Esquire was a landowner, I believe.
It's not correct though, Jilli. Esq is MALE.
Check out a Webster's dictionary, Jac. It's just a title or something in the US, sexless
All my parents' male friends, ncluding my dad, although they were not landowners, were J.O.E. Blow, Esq.
Over here in UK up until the late 60s, we used 'Esq' after 'Master' when addressing envelopes to a male after age 11. He became 'Mister at 18 and only got to be 'Esq' if he went into a profession rather than 'a job'.
Yes, I was talking Brit, jac
in 9 plesae?
nm got it.
And there was another thing, now quaint, for married women. They were Mrs J. O. E. Blow unless they were divorced, when they became Mrs. Jane Blow.
Male child 0-10 - Master J. Smith. Male child 11-18 (unleess apprenticed in law before or a landowner) = Mr. J. Smith. 18-yr-old male landowner or in the profession of law - J. Smith Esq.
(if Jane was their real name)
ga 7 please?
ga7 = attics or stocking holder uppers.
oops got that 7 by accident. sorry.
which one, mkg?
sorry jilli.
J. Smith, Esq. could have been in other professions (my dad was in banking)
trying to get all a words.
ar 5 second one please?
yeah, mkg -- an awful lot of them!
HI Jilli sprite was here on Monday. Sorry I have finished this grid and I am floating about
Jilli - back in the 70s, i remember the Family Planning Clinic, who were supposed to serve all with no discrimination, shouting out whose appointment was next... If you were married, it'd be 'Mrs. J Smith!' If not, it would 'Janet Smith!'
2nd ar5 is a tapestry.
hi herin -- she hasn't changed her icon since then
hi ladies...and any gents....I finished and now am off to bake...white choc mouse cream cheesecake on pistachio cake ...and for the kiddies, strawberry Jello jigglers...all in star shapes...

ty jac.
have the ar 4s and first ar 5 and otherwise blank.
mkg...nice women are as6ive, while nasty ones are beotches...
And add a consonant, one repeated in the middle of that.

Hi Herin. BRB.
Jilli - Sprite is feamle.
HI jac

(sorry, hit the button too soon) there are lists there that you can open to find words. It says, A-Z 4 letter words etc
dont get it pav3
Oh Jill I don't know hun she may be having a relaz
click on those lists and you will see all kinds of words in alphabetical order. I use the lists firsts and only ask for clues when I can't see the word in the list.
as6 == to sternly voice one's opinion, make one's self known without becoming bitchy
bugs my fun is getting clues and i love the chat for clues. sorry. if it bothers you i am sorry but to me the fun of the grid is to ask clues and guess them.
Is anyone here having issues with Mozilla?
I'm on Safari for Mac mi'Lady...
ty got that as 6
ok. I understand. I just thought you were struggling here.
MMM Mozilla is being annoying again
still missing as 5 10 first one, as 6 18 last one, and ar 5 10 second and third ones. clues most welcome.
ok must run and bake...party tomorrow...since my friends must work the holiday
No prob here with Firefox or Thunderbird
200 words. yeah!
I'd like almost any size as long as the words are real
as5 10 (first one) accounting term as5s and liabilities, what you own vs what you owe...
No probs here with browsers of e mails.
Or emails
Interesting must be me.
got it pav. ty
Taking a short break...
What's all this about 200 words- have I missd a grid change?
those ar 5 10 s are killing me. killing me.
as6 the last one pertains to the st5 (cosmos)...as in physics
missing the last as6,18
I would like a 500 word grid
pav are you sure? i have it as second to last.
thanks Pav - you read my mind!
I think I am melting and too hot to clue any longer.
well sorry must go to sleep. ty to all cluers.
But then again I am very bored
these easy grids promote mediocrity
whereas as6 18 pertains to the cosmos. ar5 10 the last deals with the pictures and sculptures and written and spoken word genre in general//ar4
Babe Rab
Any time you fancy doing a word game on Facebook Herin, I'm up for it. But I'm away on hol for the next week.
2nd as6 to the last as6 is pl of last as5 10
Bab- you're being facestious.
Did I spell that correctly at 5.22am
Ok Jac. I will set one up. That was a total fluke that big word
ok Im off to bake...so much to do so little time...I'll be up all night, but can't play...perhaps...
No, it doen't look right, bab.
facetious
huh pav? last ar 4 is the ar**. not getting the clues. sorry. dont get cosmos either. how does last as 6 differ from as 6 before it?
Pav what you doing?
Herin - do that and we'll commence battle in a week's time.
Jac we can start when you return.
as6 5 5 6 6 which do you need?
PAV - that doesn't loo right either butit most liekely is.
i need very last as 6. very last one. the next to last is a + with a spoon i s*** my coffee, but changed vowel and plural. what is last one?
I'm so tired I want to drop but can't 'cos it's too warm.
I'm baking the desserts for my friend's holiday party tomorrow afternoon...she must work the 4th..I'm baking the pistachio cakes first then the white choc mousse cheesecakes and combining them...and Jello jigglers for the kids...all in star shapes
But I must go because I have repotting a packing to do.
Pav you now have me thinking about making some cookies (yes cookies as they are Toll house varitey)
perhaps it's fecetious
I've done enogh cookking on one day for a weel or more.
facetious
Pav. Make the Jelly First
May fav is getting lamb shanks and letting them stew for 2 days
last as6 pertains to the cosmos..the moon and st5 in the skies....as in as6 physics...foudnation for the study of the cosmos,,,astrology
right Jello first must set overnight before using star cutters....
somehow I don't think lamb shanks will work as dessert...
facetious
Just looked it up.
hanks BR - what did I say in the first place?
OH also you may want to do the crumb base for the cheese cake over night to make it nice and hard
cONDUNDRUM - Step daughter loves digestive biscuits but hates cheesecake base?
you accused of be facetious
peengingâ€
mi'Lady...the cake has to be done first because the cheesecake sets on top of..and the cheesecakes need to set overnight as well...so all must be done tonight...
Did I BR - were you? I can't retain every day stuff now. If I offended you, I apologise.
missing the last two ar5,10s
graham cracker crust for cheesecake
not at all, Jacula
graham crackers are what we call digestive bics in UK.
(I suggest pre buying the cracker base ) I did not say that
Jac...the base can be any cookie or doughy flat crust...crackers, vanilla wafers, butter crumb crust, pie dough, oreo cookies crumbed...etc....I also use cho chip cookies as a base or even brownies,,,
Choc bic bases are very hard to slice.
OH you know what rocks with the base?
last ar5/10 -- sculpture, painting, et+ Mr Gore
etc
I'd avoid using ginger snaps though as they are quite "flavorful" and will overpower the cheesecake itself...
horseradish base?
ty jilli got it.
thanks Jilli
jac, not quite the same
Pre-buying the cracker base??? EEEEK! It's onoly crushed digestives or graham cracks and butter stirred in a pan. How hard is that? *sigh*
horseradish and sardines
need that last as 6 still. cosmos word but dont know how it differs from one before it.
hey, peeps
think of the study of the stars word but put mr gores name at the ned
