wtg anike
so I've missed the goings-on here...congrats to the genius finishers!
not even close to finishing here :)
Can I give any clues?
you started an hour later volley
could you please list the 8's?
awww ty dart
well, I have a mere 195 to go and a busy day coming up, plus a mandatory swim in the warm evening so this grid is another no-hoper
8's are cl, en and mo
ty vm anike
sounds like a fantastic day though jili
weather is just perfect here now, dee
I'm jealous... went from hot humid to stormy to cooler here... our weather changes every 3.5 minutes LOL
well, we've had a couple of horrible chilly wet summers and a miserable snowy winter so we're overdue :D
glad it is better this year
anike; can you gently guide me to the mo 8?
nm found it
mo 8/55
*ears flapping for mo8 guidance*
didn't know that was even a word
starts with ...mo "crew"...
mo 8 - more varied in colour
what 2 7's am I missing? I have ca, cl, da, de, en, si, st, ti
thanks for trying, dee and anike -- still not registering :(
never mind, I'll just do my usual 4s for a while ;)
think about something being in movement... use 1st 3 letters... then spell the word for what a chicken does to an egg with another vowel... and end with suffix for more
mo7 dee - hi all
ty di
jilli - have you got the mo 6/27?
ty dee -- now I see -- not really "crew"
isn't there a phrase... mo 6 crew
Yes Dee
ty Dee for the mo8
yes, but the famous one is crue or something, I think -- band
yw ty anike... thot I lost my mind for a sec
aww okay different spelling
also a band volley mo6 crue
Means something like " an odd looking bunch of people"
but the more-so is weird
thks for the crue spelling.... didn't know that
I've just had requests for a late lunch so had better go and feed my mo..... crew
I've just had requests for a late lunch so had better go and feed my mo..... crew
i agree jilli- doesn't follow the usual rule for adding that ending
it's like "more unique"
as 6/21 ; as 7/32
lol anike have a good one
See you all tomorrow
uh-oh..the oscar mayer weinermobile hit a house in wisconsin lol
dee, I think it's crüe, with an umlaut
not that it matters a whit
aww neat jili; oh, no dart... how did that happen?
driver was trying to turn around..thought is was in reverse...it wasn't
yipes
oh dear!
here's a link to a yahoo story witha wienermobile pic: http://bit.ly/PM1Se
This is the 199th day of the year, with 166 days remaining in 2009.

No, they're for promotion, Jilli. There are a few of them, driven all around the States. I've been inside one, actually!

ds
work and visiting family. big thunderstorm today, it gets a bit feisty in the summertime here
Storms are normal this time of year?
gd
good day to you too
very normal, lynxx. high pressure, very humid days, 15 minutes of quasi-biblical gulleywashers, repeat cycle
slow grid unlike yesterdays. BBS
Hi lyn - you are right about this being a slow one.
HI All.... hot thismorning. and at least we have a good sized grid for a saturday/sunday.
got the 9, huzzah
Morning babblers
HI Sally, How goes it?
OK. Depends on whether you mean the grid or RL!
Slow grid this morning. Always try to do at least half before I look at or join in the chat, but has taken me some time to get there.
Tell me, do you not have acer trees in the USA? Always try to put that in and always fail!
No wedo not have acer trees, its a brand name for an inexpensive computer.
:-)
The trees are prettier
oh for sure.
nap time!
fireworks
congrats, joshua
Congrats joshua
last word sy6/30 - not past tense of make concurrent, but the one that ends in website address
i'm off to bed now, as the sun will be up soon. Happy Babbling, yall! {poof}

Wow, 80 left after the first sweep. Not good....
Not good, pleeease...i have been sat here for 20 mins and only got 46 words :-(
hi Zooz
Hello Lynxxx :o)
what i meant by that lori is , that i have now ground to a halt already.
wearing her best swimsuit, soodle trips gaily towards the grid, and performs a perfectly executed dive into todays grid
LOL, i like your style Soodle.
hii Soodle, that was very graceful
Actually - still wearing her dressing-gown, soodle stumbles along, trips and falls headlong in, with a mighty splash!!
hahahaha, i still like your style :o)
:)
Mornin' Soodle, not a morning person, what? :p
hi soodle
Lori - Its a gray, overcast Saturday morning here. A girl can dream, can't she?
Hey Andree - I love the pic.
Morning Babblers :)
hi nono

Dreams are important! Mornin' Nono, hugs to Mr. Nono. :0
Hi Nono

fish me! and so early in the morning!
ty jbv
clue for the o plz
od 4/5 movieman -
hello, my name is Angelsong, and I am a Babble Addict. I know I am a Babble Addict because I finished yesterday's grid just 15 minutes before the flip, and started this one at the flip, despite having worked all day.
Hi Angel. Your welcome to todays meeting.
hi Angelsong, welcome to our club
ta jbv
hi jvb, angel and mm
hi Andree
NBT, Time to get some food, BBL
clue for the 9 plz
extend ca6/21 for 9
Mornin' MM. ca 9 builds off the 6 what you've chosen as your field of work
wecome angel,my name is crossy and i am also an addict,i find that adding copious ammounts of vodka to your system furing babble play will reduce your guilt at playing babble;0
co6/27 please
ta lori
co + created soemthing, you *** it
**** it even
thx lorip
Okay, t-storms a little too close. My surge protection is unplugging the 'puter. :p
Back later perahps, if not have a good day all!
OK Cross, I have change icon for your spirit bear day.
poor lori;( tis an amazing sunny day here;)
ahh face off of a totem;)
apparently I can not speak English any more.
nor can i,no matter
Could it be the vodka, crossy?
lol,not at 8 a.m it isnt.i have no excuse at this time..except i need a tea
make me a cuppa too crossy
I have fresh coffee, but it isnttea.
Aaah Tea. Where would we be without it?
my tummy is wonky so I think I better start with tea
yup jm,fist thing that has to go with acid reflux is the coffee;/
ahhh..now thats a cuppa:)))
hi red, didn't see you come in
I feel lucky I have a good tummy, but its getting alittlewierd.
er wrong direction for my problems -- but I find tea helps all tummy issues
JMC? Is that a recognized medical complaint? A wonky tummy...lol
mine was good..till 40,i used to be able to eat nails and poop horse shoes;))
indeedy soodle
of course I am just a lawyer not a doctor
too much information, crossy!
lol
I confess I have to be less aggressive with the jalapenos these days
light brekkies today, nice fluffy cheese and mushroom omlettes;)
Whats the difference between God and doctors? God doesn't think he is a doctor!
but I just had a nice dinner last night at a rib place in chi town so I have no excuse
cute soodle
no bacon?
day off on bacon in honour of the arteries
* a moment of silence for crossy's sacrifice*
(((adopts a reverend pose))))
okay well I am off to go rouse rabble -- wish me luck
fear not oh worthy poeople,as day follows night the bacon shall rise again!!
damn typos
whiteout!
I am glad to hear that brossy!
oooops *crossy
want some of my whiteout?
where's that tea? *poof*
What about the pigs?? Thats what I say
As she delicately nibbles a bacon sandwich....
wont someone think of the pigs!!
Swine flu?
Swine flew!
red..please,h1n1
dont want to offend the oinkers
soodle quietly choking on her bacon sandwich
crossy thumps soodle on her back and offers her a bacon smoothie
btw, this bacon vodka is a must in any household.you must all make it at least once;))
Thanx Crossy - I needed that
Cross - you clearly have Irish blood in you veins. Vodka bacon? Begob & begorrah, only a Paddy could have thought that one up!!!
Well, pleasebe careful with the Swine , one of our MD's is actually really sick with it as wellas flu A.
the next innoculation period is supposed to contain shot for this
I fear by the next flu season that it will have mutated, best defense is hand wash, and dont touch people.
im sure our boys at the top will bombard us with a billion dollars worth of ads on this when they are ready
trying to keep away from crowded places helps
lol i work in the resort industry red, there are a lot more nasty things laying round thier rooms when they are done than just germs;(( we buy sanitizer by the 45 gallon drum:/
lol cross
Oh yes I am sure you see all sorts of gross stuff...wash hands, and dont touchpeople.
the citiots think all rules stop when they come up here;((
but best not to get going on that or ill be foaming at the mouth
have some teacrossy.
but i must give you one example....
How odd, the news just referred toa suspect as "The guy accused"socasual, why notcall him a man.
we have a chalet that is very large,3 floors cathdral ceilings sleeps 15 etc.on the first day they thought it would be great fun to toss processed cheese slices up so they stuck on the ceiling..which is 25 feet up remember.at the end of the week when we came in,said slices were now welded to the ceiling and it took 3 of us 4 hours on extension ladders to chisel the slices off the ceiling and in turn this tore the paint and top layer of paper off the drywall
got to love the citiots
Philistines!! Processed cheese????
$3300.00 will be added to thier bill:)
it should be!
the ceiling will need mudding and sanding and repainting..so that will be close
hope you got their creditcard details
and it will be out of the rental pool for 2 weeks
dummies they are
ok back to babble;)
COuld I have a clue for the Nine, I have no 7 no 8 and non 9.
indeed we do andree:)
hi red - the 9 is an extension of the ca 6/21
The only reason it is not called Mexican flu,( where it originated) was to shore up the Mexican tourist trade. If everyone thought that a cheapo holiday to Mexico could end up with "swine flu" they would avoid it like the plague.!
extend the ca6/21 red
looking
Ahhh! thanks jbv!
i hate de words almost as much as re's
brb semi-poof
red, fyi - swine flu is an influenza A....he doesn't have both
Influenza A (H1N1)
Oh yes, I fergot. its a problem, we try not to freak anyone out...
It was a little wierd, she came in for testing, looked pale and then suddenly slumped down onto the floor, poor thing......
we have had quite a few cases here... the vast majority do fine... it just sucks to get flu period
fa 5/18 sec one?
I think I spend about 50% of my day now wearing the n 95 masks...
fa 5/18 - unit of electrical measure, lynn
we isolate them, as we do all influenza, but it is important to remember that more people (by far) have died from the usual Influenza A this year than the swine flu strain... people need to not get so freaked out just b/c the media talks about it a lot
not seein it?
first 5 letters of a scientist's name - fa + ***iation therapy
exactly kje, Iam sickofwearing the mask. I look like a duck.
LOLOL
that took me off guard - cracked me up
thanks jbv
what kind of mask is that, red - a plastic guard?
I dont fit the other masks.
tyty
Its a mask specifically designed to filter out stuff. liek TB.
plastic masks are frowned on... they usually result in asphyxiation
I guess I could get a halloween mask, but kids dislike them.
I haven't seen that one - and we are spending about a day a week in the hospital
depends on which company supplies the hospital. lots of colors and styles. I just have a wierd face, and can only wear that one.
am 6?
jbv - it doesn't really look like a duck bill, red exaggerates, though I can see the resemblance due to the fact the paper comes to an angle
i think red should take a pic of her in it and post it!!!
We call them ducks.
I think red will avoid that.
party pooper
Maybe next week,or during flu season, or when I fially get my hair done. My hair is horrid!
mine is too red.... i need to get to the salon
afternoon all...arent those paper masks useless for the avoidance of flu germs?
hair is importnt, as you have to wear it every day...
am 6 - sounds like a name - we had a police brutality case a few years ago - victim's name was am**** diallou
Not at all. best way to avoid the flu though is to wash hands and avoid sticking fingers in face.
rolin, there are different types of paper masks, and some have special filters - that is what red is talking about... we use them for flu, TB, chicken pox, etc
oh ok..maybe i just heard about the commercial ones
not a clue on that am 6 perhaaps another one? sorry
even the regular paper masks help stem the spread, if people with the flu use them, because it stops the spread when coughing...sneexzing.
that is correct rolin... the ones painters use, or are sold at hardware stores, etc, do not work
like a tissue.
hard to clue but can you google diallou?
iris
oops..sorry
and red is correct too... you can catch droplets on the mask when they sneeze... but not as effective for the receivers
Ahhhh! thanks Rolin!
"cover your sneeze, please" - did your hospital run that campaign, red?
We didnt. We essentially mask anyone who has a cough. if they dont comply, they cant get treatment.
oh, this was for visitors... posters in elevators etc
We had a "Wash your Dukes" campaign at Duke.
We mask the visitors too! and we do have a bunch of how to sneeze properly signage.
I decided if we gave everyone a glove and the mask, it would be like a huge MJ tribute.
LOL!
I have 106 left, and sadly, I have come to a screeching halt.
how is everyone else doing with the grid? (Hoping rolins will drop another one!
i have 107 so far
i think I had some time on you kje.
i started when you saw me pop in re: the flu
but have been chatting too much
so leave me alone
so polite kje is.
: )
her babbleside manner iser,house like.
ouch
but we love you anyway.
ty
now, run along and do grid.
here is one for you red - se5 - se + most of a daytona event
ty kje....needed it
se6 - area of NY that makes apple juice
or an indian tribe
that's funny - that word was in yesterday's grid too
ma5 - a problem we don't know how to solve?
bottom O anyone?
od 4/5 - greek i think or latin
od4, common babblet, use vowels.
oh no.... TY!
bottom row gray!!!
greek
i need some a's from the top right - all I have is the yes votes and the one I always miss (ont he ocean)
same here jbv
taking a break - see you later - good luck with the grid
bye jbv
i will go soon too... need to be at hospital at 9
will get to even hundred left then poof
acck1 converting .LIT files into >PDF files is a pain in the caboose;/

Go Nanette, go!
Hi tedybeth
Scrabs for the most part you had terrific weather for the mountains ... a little cold at night maybe
DId you enjoy your vacation Scrabbs? It would seem so.
We had 2 great days of hot weather and sun, a few cool (60's) days but sunny, and one cool, rainy day.
i have the cl8....clues for the other 8s plz
It was a great vacation--lots of kayaking in new places--small lakes with loons, osprey and islands; the Moose River was just beautiful...lots of laughing with 10 other women!
Nanatte, yesterday we went to Hemlock Lake--wow! We loved it there. We might stay on Keuka Lake in Sept for a few days.
Hi MM
hi mm thats the only 8 i have so far
where is Hemlock Lake?
My only eight too. Hi MM. What did you think of HPfilm, I have heardmixed reviews.
One of the western Finger Lakes--from west = Silver Lake, Conesus Lake, Hemlock Lake, Canadice Lake, then I think Canandaigua
Haven't seen it yet turtle, I tried on Wednesday, but all 5 screens were sold out
oh ok I really am only familiar with the larger of the finger lakes
I need to go see it soon, I am a week day Matinee fan...
My college nephew saw HP and liked it a lot but said it deviates from the book. I am surprised JK would permit that.
down to 97, goingt take asmall break....
Good work, Red. 185 to go for me.
see ya later red

Hi Car
NBT here too
Good morning / afternoon everyone!
Good morning car.
How are you, Car? We are having an aumtumn-like day here. Sunny but in 60's
morning car!!!
Hi se
I am OK today...heavy heart...need more coffee...
hi scrabs
Uh, oh, why the heavy heart?
Morning dear scoop! How is your mom this morning? I am worried about her. She is very sad.
she is out looking at cars
got the mo8, odd looking word. kept trying to enter it without the y
clue for ca 5/14
One of my oldest and dearest friends lost his wife suddenly. She was only 39. They have 2 small chidren and unfortunately were the ones that found their mom.
oh dear, car
ca5/14 - ca plus the first three quarters of the Roman Catholic service.
My heart is aching for all of them. Went to the wake yesterday and the funeral is tomorrow.
OH, NO! So sad! My de4 friend died of brain cancer in October leaving behind 3 kids ages 8 yrs, 4 yrs and 12 mo. She became ill in her 3rd trimester. Grieving in these cases is SO difficult. Any cause for death, car?
Still unknown.
So tragic! How old are the kids?
4 and 7...the same age as my boys.
car how very sad, love and prayers to family
http://www.childgrief.org/----helpful site for the family to help the kids
Scrab - so sorry to hear about your friend as well.
TY Flosey
Ty scrab...will pass it on
Just definitely one of those situations that leave me wondering Why...
I spend every Tuesday afternoon and dinner with the kids. I promised Mary that I would love and guide her kids. The adults are struggling more than the kids although the kids will have longterm issues to cope with.
God bless you, scrabbler. You are wonderful.
Scrab...you are a good friend.
The eternal question: why do bad things happen to good people?
Being with the kids helps me with the grieving process. It is a way to honor Mary and to guide the kids. (crying now)
good morning and prayers and hugs to both families, car and scrabbler - such a sad tragedy when children lose their mother very young
Oh Scrab...{hugs}...I am sorry...didn't mean to make you and others sad.
It IS so very sad.
the fathers also need a lot of support - it must be very difficult for them to be strong for the children while suffering themselves
bl
Car, I think about Mary many times throughout the day.
Yes, it is VERY challenging for young widowers with kids. They need much support.
Scrab...when did she pass away?
taking a break, bbl
Flosey, the picture is beautiful!
October 13th. I was one of several people at her side for those last 3 days. It still does not seem real, that someone could create a family, be so devoted to motherhood and then be plucked away.
{{{more hugs}}}
Scoop...is your friend still over?
yep
Car, get a group of people to help your friend and the boys--a weekly schedule that can be followed--meals, cleaning, activities, etc, and women such as you need to be surrogate mothers for those boys.
Is she helping you....cheater!
she is actually kinda spazzy now and she is learning to play
That is the good thing...a tremendous support system from both sides of the family has already begun to develop.
More coffee for both of you then!
Create scrapbooks for each boy. Plant a memory tree and the boys can make and hang crafts, Easter eggs, Christmas ornaments. Plant a garden--we ma4 one for Mary and the older kids helped. Send balloons (with letters and drawings to Mom) to heaven.
haha she loves coffee
good morning...
Hi Magyk
Great ideas Scrab...will pass them along.

Good morning Magyk

ty Haz
You're welcome.
OK...halfway done...off to get these boys out of the house for a bit! Love to all.
have a good day Car
Bye car.
bye car!!!
back again for the final push before tea - went to the supermarket and spent the hubby's money
It's when you go to designer shops and spend hubby's money that he's got to worry.
Although last year, when prices rose steeply, I used to wonder if I'd put designer goods in my trolley by mistake.
hmm yes - it ridiculous - we went and got some wine, some coke and a few odds and ends and it came to 30 squid after 13 squids worth of discount
I know. Don't ever try to convert things back into shillings and pence, it's too big a shock.
i know i gave that up a long time ago - though 8 bob for a packet of crisps is a bit off
When you put it like that, it's criminal.
Okay, time for me to be off. Have a good day all. Bye!
Bye Haz, take care.

kfc sounds good to me right now
Maybe so, but it taste really nice :-)
prairie oysters are just bull balls down here -- although I have heard of buffalo ones too

*makes note to eat multiple buckets of kfc"
LOL
now where were we before we got into boobies?...ah! chineese food;))
I don't need big boobies but would like to go back to the day when my boobs stuck out farther than my tummy
mmmmm chinese food
I am surprised ru or torg didn't pop in during that conversation though :-)
enough msg to kill a horse;)
mmmm
lol tasty tasty
lol jm,why? cause of the balls, boobies or chineese food?
hi all, crossy, you can request no msg
im sure you can flo,but the packages woul;d be empty:)
Hello flosey!
but crossy dont care, can eat vegetable and shrimp fried rice all day;)
no, I've enjoyed chinese food minus msg, am sure they've found too many people have problem with it
im good to go till my doctor tackles me and does a lipid test;)
all of the above (or rather below at 12:38)
the strangest thing- - -
want to the dump to drop off some stuff and found a heavy well made, high end teflon lined un damaged wok with a little bit of concrete on the bottom
so I took it home and cleaned off the concrete -- my trip to the dump was a profit!
yes it is amazing what people will throw away.
mmm then you can make my chineese food for me;)
I have so much I got from curb side and the dump
re crossy I would be glad to make you stir fry and hot and sour soup
but my hot and sour soup is really hot and sour!
*lights fire under wok* what do you want in your stir fry?
mm better make my hot and sour a four on a scale of ten please
okay I will add more tofu and chicken broth
okay I will add more tofu and chicken broth
and in the stir fry?
only thing i dont care for is those mutant, tiny corn cobs
so let your imagi8nation go with the stir fry
okay how about chicken basil and some red onion with tofu and bokchoy?
sounds fine;))
soy sauce or teriaki?
lol since ive hit the worlds biggest wall in the grid, may as well do some virtual cooking
soy
I am very fond of virtual cooking
never burn anything
and for you jm ill make some fresh penne a-la vodka
Morning all. I'm trying this grid and am finding that I think that the total word number is (like many "other" things) "greatly exaggerated" today. 32 words from that D and 38 words from theat C? Not on my first pass!
alas the food is finally being served here and we care eing corralled so we can go to caucuses
mmmmm penne past al vodka sounds great -- not the veggie food I will get her alas
enjoy the stif fry crossy bbl *poof*
jmc, are they feeding you vegan food at your conference?
Hello Nef.
hi zooz. haw are you today? How are you doing with the grid?
a pat of butter sizzling in the pan, then add some bacon bits,a finly chopped clove of garlic and some finly diced green onions , cook in the butter till till the garlic and onions brown and add a stiff shot of high end vodka and fire it,,put out fire with half pint of 35% cream and turn down to a low simmer for 5 minutes.add some pre cooked aldente penne noodles and simmer and stir regularly serve woth toasted garlic cheese bread and a simple salad, top noodle with a generous shake of romano cheese and a twist of the pepper mill and enjoy:))
Not too bad thanks, got the `c` & `d` done, down to 97 to go.
crossy, that sounds very good!
Thats smells good from here Crossy
crossy,s penne a-la vodka;))
carefull not too much butter in the pan though
zooz, are there really that many words from those 2 letters? I have barely found 10 from both of them on my first attempts
1 tbs max
clue for co 5/16
I rarely cook with butter as the first fat in the pan myself (fried eggs excepted)
you may substitute a tbs of cold pressed olive oil
that I would do
my DH won a bottle of vodka at some sort of mens' function recently (sheap stuff); I've been wondering what to do with it.
when you flambe it,let it go for 10 seconds or so
co5/16 you got the first two letters + stop being so **** you naughty little boy
dont go cheap,a nice smirnoff blue label or grey goose
that's a job for him then; I would scare both myself AND him if I did that
but take away the `r` boo
cause its the underlying taste you want and not the alcohol content
thanks zoozzoom, i needed that one as well.
co5/16 you got the first two letters + stop being so r*** you naughty little boy

sigh..still converting lit files to html then to pfd files;(( pain in the behind it tis;(
i curse thee oh lit files;(
sounds like a laborious task you got there Crossy
I have no idea what you are talking about, crossy; but since you preceeded it with a sigh; I guess I don't want to know what it is anyway!
lit files are a proprietary file set up by microsoft, among other things it allows one to read a book on specific microsoft porable electronic devices..but nothing else
so for those who own other devivces we must convert them to read them;(
are you speaking of something like a kimble?
no,kindle is only good in the U.S,i bought the wife a sony 700 e-book reader
but is it the same type of a device? sort of an electronic book?
same type,yes
options differ for each though
hey crossy would this not help http://www.processtext.com/abclit.html
thanks. what are the pros and cons of those things. (I personally loved old-fashioned book myself; just curious about these things

be back for flip tonight, must spend the rest of the day with hubby, have to go back to Vancouver tomorrow
Pros: pros: works better than the kindle for non U.S residents, back lighting is a nice touch, the touch screen makes it very easy for my vision impared wife along with the large home page fonts and several font size selections, back up buttons are nice:) Cons: i thought hard and the only down side i can think of for the sony 700 reader is a matte finish occurs with the addition of the touch screen and causes a bit of glare in certain light conditions, but with kindle being for u.s only, this is the best bet Summary: ok,im just going to list all the pros and cons of both the kindle and the sony 700 reader and my choice of the 700 reader will come clear. kindle: pros: clear non glare screen, easy access to both the battery and the add in sd storage card, long battery life(aprox 7200 pages),artwork that appears as a sort of screen saver cons: this one is so big i have to capitalize it,THE KINDLE IS ONLY BEING SOLD TO u.S RESIDENTS AND YOU MUST HAVE BOTH A U.S ADDRESS AND A U.S CREDIT CARD AT TIME OF PURCHACE! the reson for this is the kindles biggest selling feature, being able to download books wirelessly with out a computer relys on a u.s cell phone type service called rogers whispernet the other minor cons are touchy page turn buttons that run along the side of the unit and the design of the thing is a tad ugly sony 700 pros, the new touch screen eliminates the tiny little keyboard buttons that the kindle relys on,big clear option buttons on the home page, nice side lighting with 2 power selections, multiple font sizes for the vision impared, top end lithium-ion battery, sleek handsome unit design, dual storage card choices, power life is about the same as kindle(7200-7500 pages if you dont use the side lighting cons the only problematic con i can think of is that with the addition of the touch screen it made a matte finish to the page that can produce a glare in certain light conditions.the fact that it needs a computer and a usb cable to download books becomes a non issue since the kindle is for u.s consumers only
sorry bout that folks
no problems Crossy.
thanks for the info, crossy. I copied and pasted it and am reading in text edit (mac)
ty cross I had been thinking about such a purchase for my travels. all of it is good to know
my sony 700 review for cnet.com:))
my wife LOVES her sony reader;))
she has limited vision 20/200 to 20/400 and this made her able to read for the first time in ten years:))

i have about 100 books on my wifes reader and if i thried to take it from her im sure id lose a finger
LOL!
or two crossy..lol
if you are a book fiend(1 to 2 books a week or more) then it is for you:)
for example, since i own many books about 500 and have paid for each,in canada i can scan them all and make a sigle archival copy in any formatt i wish as long as i do not do more than one or make any profit from this action
i have many coming apart at the spines and this will save them for future reading goodness;)
oh, crossy! If the books are coming apart at the spines, someone didn't open them right at the beginning! How sad!
lol ok,enough of my rambling about the e-book readers hehe
some are 60 years old or more nef;(
I have several that are over 100 years old ,crossy. They are still in good shape.
well when you buy used you take yer chances i suppose
i have every softcover i have ever bought since 1985 at least:)
3 groaning book shelves;/ i shudder at the thought of ever moving again
True. I was raised to respect books, and the woman who raised me was the County Superintendant of schools. Each summer any new books that came we kids would have to "break them in" properly.
what drives me nuts is when someone folds a cover of a soft cover book back upon itself,,and dont you dare fold the corners!
ill beat you silly with a book mark
To do this, you hold the book on its' spine, then open the front X number of pages, and about the same number from the back, putting the cover and pages all the way down on the table.
"Dog Ears!" That is indeed a crime!
i even have a special hook on each book case and it holds about 5 book marks each
(back to breaking in the book: you keep opening and gently pressing the same # of pages until the middle of the book is opened and laying flat on the table)
Good evening babblers. Cross - have you been here all day????
been on all day soodle..doing file conversions that have been piling up as well
doing it this way, the spine of the book is soft and supple and won't ever break.
i remember that way of book prep nef;))
I actually buy books for presents and then re4 them myself without even breaking their backs . . .
Good for you. I have been and gone and done all the Saturday stuff. Now back to babbling with a clear conscience....
i know a weird, stange person who i have gotten many books from ,as he will only ever read a book once and never again!!!
jmc, if you use this technique, you can tell the person you give it to that you "prepared" it for them! ;-)
wise advice nef;)
wouldn't a Babble Book Club be a novelty? Folk could read the book, and then babble about it?
there are lots of books I want to re4 again (the pb must be getting quite crowded)
I re re4 Georgetter Heyer and Dickens and others
and he gives them away? I rarely read a book (fiction) a second time; but I keep any book that touches my soul, or is something I want to refer back to (or lend out)
I will consider that nef
*opening the pb door to let air in*
have any of my transatlantic babbling friends ever read anything by my most favourite, bestest author of all time - John Irving....the world according to Garp, the Cider House Rules, Son of the Circus etc etc?
good idea soodle,as i find that most babbleonians are readers anyways
did we really SAY the WORD, jmc? (now I have to go back and check on myself)
okay I am too much a target here for the Revolutionary Communist Party so going to move to another room
multiple times nef lol pretty much all of us!
mrp started a book club a while ago, but I have not heard any comments about it for quite some time
I've re** all 3 of those soodle, but he isn't my favorite author

oh, MY! I did! <Hauling my sorry bumm off to PB now>
Oh nef.... when I die, I want A son of the Circus buried with me. I thought it was just about the best book i ever re**
i will have to join you as well nef
Nef - I'm curious. Whats the best book you ever re**?
there's chocolate, and marshmallows and graham crackers here, crossy!
and books!]
evening all
hello, sprite
Soodle, it isn't fiction. It was "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience" by by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (which I had to look up because I couldn't spell it!)
hey BabbleRabble, glad to see you.
hello Sprite
hi Soodle
Oh dear, Nef -doesn't sound like my sort of book. I'm very much a fiction- 'get away from it all' sort of book person!
I loved that book and also "Wonderful Life" by Stephen Gould. Those 2 books took me completely by surprise. It may have been when i read them, but I still open them up and get carried away by them. :-)
I *really* enjoy both Agatha Christie and Tony Hillerman for mystery fiction too.
BabbleRabble, beautiful icon and quotes. Thanks.
Isnt it amazing how - at a particular time of you life - some books can just blow you away. At a dfferent time, they might just be books!!
when a book really grabs me,thats it im useless till i finish it
Very true, Soodle. I have this very weird re**ing pattern: fiction in the summer, and non-fiction the rest of the time. I just can't re** non-fiction in the summer, nor can I tolerate fiction other times. <blushing at shameful secret>
Me too, Cross. I start living the life of the person in the book. (as if I didn't have enough drama in my own life - but escapism is very important to me!!
My youngest daughter is dyslexic. It is breaking my heart to think of what she is missing out on in reading.
how old is she, Soodle?
She is only 14. She refuses point blank to read - its just too much hassle to her. And at 14 - she says she is too old for her mam to read to her.
saddest words indeed
im not familliar with dyslexia,CAN they read?
I have a dyslexic aunt who started to re** for the first time after she was 50. Her sister had given her Corrie Ten Booms' book "The Hiding Place" and she finally started to re**
With typical dyslexics -(and theres no such thing as a typical dyslexic) the letters they see on a page are all jumbled up. Suzie may see the letters GOD. But she will see them as DOG.
Its not life threatening or anything, but, it is a serious impediment to normal living
yep. There are different technics to deal with it now. Many teachers will use tactile methiods whenre the child uses a sand box to form and feel the letters and that helps some; but there are other ways that help too
When Suzie was about 8 - I was helping her with her reading homework from school. the text said 'The boy crossed the road'. She read it as 'the boy crossed the street' - even tho the text said ROAD. Then it occurred to me, that she was memorising what they had learnt in school. It was a huge shock!
and there are always audio books (which that aunt used all the time for road trips for about 20 ye***)
yes, there are many fine audio books;)
Soodle! My dtr did that and we discovered it in 1st grade! Her teachers tutored her after school through 3rd grade, and then she took off on her own, But we never considered her dyslexic; she was just TOO much of a social butterfly to pay attention ion class!
(jeez, forget/forgive my typos please!
put your theme up crosshair
i never judge typos as im the typo king:)
HI all, bck from miserable gym and house cleaning. I hate it when it rains.
hi red *hugs* for you... and a towel
but we need rain... Hi Sprite! How are you the family and the puppy?
i have a kitchen that needs attention very soon:(
Oooh. When I noticed Suzies Road/street thing, immediately I went to see her teacher. The teacher dismissed me. She tapped her long red fingernails on the desk, told me she was trained to spot dyslexia, and said that Suzie was 'merely slow'. She refused to recommend to have her assessed. I had to pay €800 for a private assessment - which came back that she was 'classicly dyslexic'. oooooh
family and puppy doing great, I have been ill again. Just went out with Terra for the first time again and enjoyed it a lot.
I wondered Sprite when I didnt see the icon change... ;)
Hey - I'm getting angry all over again. Subject closed. ok?
Soodle it is so frustrating for parents when people dealing with their kids dont take them seriously...
Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhhh
I think I paid about $500 for the full assessment for my dtr; but she's now 26. And we paid for the tutoring (on top of the parochial school fees. But it was so worth it for her.
sorry, I just always figure parents know more than I do, since they are more tuned in to them....
Okno angry ness.
yeah I feel bad, have been missing a lot of days/themes because of being ill. But on days that I am too ill to even start up the 'puter, i just can't do it.
SPriteI dont care that you dont change the theme, I just worried that you werenot alright.
((((counting to ten, inhaling deeply calming down)))) :)
what's been going on sprite?
today is a word from the list is it not?
Are you ok now, Sprite?
It's okay, Soodle, we'll change the subject now
that is sweet, red! And even though crossy isn't talking to me, I did manage to do his theme today :)
Cross, today is your bear.
yeah, crossy, the spirit bear! :)
hands soodle a soothing cup of tea.
sorry sprite;) o am not meaning to ignore you:)
clue for the first fa 6/30
nothing serious, Nef and Soodle. Just a very low resistance and managing to pick up every virus that comes even remotely close to the netherlands. With the other problems, it means two tiny steps forward and a big one backwards.
hello Boo
Be careful sprite, the oinking flu is stilla round.
hey sprite
Red...nice tea. Ty. Sprite.. you get well, and then stay well.
fa 6/30, there are 2, is either a plural or a past tense
yeah I know, lol. Therapist says it will take a couple of ye5 to get back on my feet again, so I will learn patience one way or the other :)
thanks Soodle
Hello Br, I hope you are having a fine day.
Hello, H. Thanks, and same to you.
testing new icon for the day, refresh please

Night Crossy.
goodbye crosshair
toodles, crossy
Getting a littleb bit annoyed a the grid, 83 left....
now now, why blame the grid for offering you a challenge...
But I've had enough challenge now.
Just jumping in but hope everyone has enjoyed the tea that was shared. I always like a bit of a sweet cake to go with tea.
they were delightful, stidgmere.
enough challenge... hmmm... ok, how about I take away the upper two lines of the grid for you.
I certainly bit off a big bite when I decided to take Latin this summer. It was labeled as an Intensive course. They weren't kidding.
thenI would be much closer tobeing done!
stidg, but how great of you to pick up something like that!
I thought it might keep my brain active. Wow. Poor brain.
*takes scissors and sizes down red's grid*
bet it helps with babble...
and not just that, stidg, but think of all the words you will spot in babble that we poor buggers cannot find!
Now that it is 2:30 and I've wasted nearly half a day on the computer; I must get something done around here. This grid has blinded me and I haven't found a word here in well over an hour (of course, I wasn't concentrating either!). Anyway, BBL; enjoy the grid and chog!
It helps with vocabulary for sure. I have had so little time for the grid it is not transferring yet. But this winter we'll see.
bye Nef
Nef, hope you have a good afternoon.
bye Nef. I did manage to get stuff done, all excepting the pool, since it has sotrmed on and off...
Bye Nef.
corner a besides in the ocean and yes?

Sorry Nef.. I am responsible for side-tracking you. (((Hangs head in shame)))

i don't wanna challenge....
looks like most of my missing words are biggies... as usual.
is lickety there today?
too lazy to click over - lol
I think so, seem to get green flashes at the right moments. Will check.
i am unaware of lickety.
yes, lickety is up
green flashes???
I use the babble expert, for the Add box. Green flash is good word, red is bad word, blue is chat text.
ah
i do not believe there are 16 words off that 1 E
they must be fakes
they usually are
bbl - off for a facial
enjoy kje
hagd kje,

ah well

no harm in asking, jess
Boo - see 3.38 BabRab
Our neighbor has six cats. And they just got a St. Bernard puppy. I think they're wacked.
still 119 words to find :( did several errands today which cut into my babble time.
i've got 4 permanent cats, and one foster that i have low hopes of adopting out..so she very well may be permanent by default
permament by default :-)
plus the dogs, chinchillas, guinea pig, snake, rabbit, horses...
why the low hopes, jess?
Egad! A petting zoo.
older, long haired, probable kidney issue
how old, jess, just asking. don't get your hopes up :-)my cat is 13 and the other cat here is 12, I was really concerned that they would not get along
no real idea. she was left at an abandoned house. i came and got her after nobody'd been back for a month.
she's got the back claws that don't tuck back in nicely though, and that doesn't usually start showing until they're about 9
fireflies. Bye all, enjoy the grid and chog.
bye, sprite
bye Sprite and congrats
so id say at least 9-10years
ok
she's been de-flea'd, bathed, shaved, tested for leukemia, and put on decent food, and now she's up to 5 1/2 pounds.
re 6-21??- have been monkeying and i am lost help please......
Wow! That's a skinny cat. Needs to bulk up some more.
gets along with the dogs, there was minimal hissing between her and my other cats, she hasn't bothered the chinchillas or guinea pig
re6.21 ****the book again
Iwill keep my fingiers cross that someone adopts here. My cat weighs over 15 pds.
bbs
sorry lynxxx- need the first re 6/21
Yes, my cats are big too, Peri. Both of my cats weigh at least 15 lbs each. But they are normal weight for their size.
Luuuuuv big cats.
Not that she bothers me overmuch, but the bf is a bit overwhelmed by the number of critters... and the more that end up here permanently, the fewer i'm comfortable fostering.
I made it to 50. I grow weary of this grid today. I'm off to do other silly things. ttfn.
bye, judi!
wheeheeheheheheehe :) just got a message from a classmate who wants to adopt the pig! yay!
help with the c9 please...thanks

hi Stid, he got to Cairns? lovely area and very big with 'kids'
nearly 3 here :-D
any clues for the mo8?
yes, should be starting to move south by now... can't remember his next stop off hand.
do you-all often have thunderstorms this time of year? We have them in the summer generally, not the winter. In the winter, it just "rains"
mo 8? *thinking*
mo8 builds on mo6.27 - scruffy, spotty etc
great clue lynxxx!
thanks lynxxx....I can always count on you!
thanks to BabRab - I so didn't see that word!
so I've always wanted to ask you about the multiple x's?
just to fill up space Eva - or is it just the love I feel for you all?
aw......
LOL (((lynxxx)))
tom just finished putting up the wallboard in the office and mudding, so I will go do texturing later. things dry so fast in this heat

*rubbing ey4 and wondering where glasses went*
I am up to 91 words and have NBT. hope you-all have lovely days/evenings with good weather and happy events. *poof*
bye Stid (hugs)
hi all :)
hi Kazz
Hello all:) I am new to this game, and interested to know how to read the Tile Stats. probably being really dense. x laura x
oops. also need to learn how to upload pic!
hi Tud, the tile stats relect the grid above and show how many words start in each sqaure
Tud...you will have to go pro to get pic/flag/bio. You will lose the tile stats after 2 weeks also unless you 'pro'
hey lynx.. can you clue the ca 5/14 please?
ahh gotta go will be back later
the only one I have is the past tense
Ok. I went pro tonight, so will update pic later. thanks for responses. one more question. if the tile of T has 3/10 in it, what does that mean? three words? thanks again. laura
Means you have made 3 words out of a possible 10
congrats on going pro! :)
Dorens - the other ca5.10 , you take happy snaps with ca*er**
All becoming clearer.....many thanks. will keep on for a bit, this is quite addictive. thankyou all and chat again soon. xx
ca + a very large dog: ***stiff
or, ca + merry christ***
I hope Dorens comes back and re**s all these clues
have uploaded pic. do not have one I like of me, so used one of our 5 lovely kittens (grown up now). thanks for congrats, Kazozz, looked up your profile. good luck in next play. back to babble......x
ugh, still 8 left...BBL time to walk
WOO HOO We have new Meat! :-D Just kidding Tudalen; welcome aboard! :-)
lynxxx only 8!! 98 here lol
Thank you Nef. now I understand the stats I am twisting my brain in new ways...glad to be on board:-)
Kaz? How are you going to get the boat into the theatre?
141 here. I was here for a long time earlier today, now back again
110 here, hello all
Hi peri
Tudalen, if you go to the help pages right above the chat it really helps; then a lot of us use either Likety's BabbleClues or Babblers Anonymous (both found below the tile stats)
Thanks Nef, will do that. x
hi peri
*giggling at "new meat" comment* hello all, back for more punishment, want to get down to 100 before I work on the history homework.
125 left at the moment
hi stid. Is that just a typical Nursing comment? It seemed so natural to me
made sense, but that's perhaps because I have two adolescent boys at home?
I found a stonehenge-related sa 6! *proud mama look*
how are you doing, nef?
I'm fine, stid. We all take life one day at a time; right?
stid i thought u left?
I left, I came back....
we are now getting the weather report world-wide courtesy of tom... 98 in Tbilisi, 78 in Cairns..
????
oh my! it's the jack benny show on this radio show I am listening to. It's so funny, the word of the day for the show is "chartreuse"
thats a color isnt it?
which is used *SO* often on a daily basis right? :-D
it's a bright yellow green color Kaz
yes, a lovely bright-yellow-green that when overused becomes quite obnoxious
or what nef said
yep. Not a color many people can wear (at least not if they are pale fair-skinned Minnesotans!
how are you kazozz? I wish you could hear the stidkid's Col. Pickering... he sounds very hoity-toity to me!
scandinavian grandparents, nef? there's a lot of very fair people around here for that reason
I am fair because of the dutch-irish-french/german ancestry...
how has it been going for stidkid? I would love to hear it lol!! All good here..my son and I have our words down for cuckoo's nest and we have 11 days til opening night arghhh
I was raised inNW MN. I do have Norwegian on the one side, but my mother's side were Irish (and they were the only Irish for miles around; they were the minority in the area. There were also Germans, and French Canadians there too
eventually i got back to get my last 5 and i have so its fireworks and time for bed
How exciting for both of yor families!
stidkid is good -- cuckoo's nest as in one flew over? haven't ever read that, you know... but it sounds disturbing
YAY Kazzer! WTG!!!
congrats kazzer
YAY kazzer!!!!
pretty pansy icon, too! ((kazzer))
yes stid its very disturbing, but an excellent play...
well then, I hope your audience will be large and appreciative!
yeah found it on the web - pansies are one of my favorites but can never seem to grow them
with the economy as it is, the stidkid's show isn't as well attended as some in the past... the cast size is down too, for the same reason. Expensive to pay all the teachers and staff for these productions
wow, Kazzer. I thought pansies were pretty much an indestructable plant!
I love pansies too -- they last okay for me. Until the MONSTER NORTHWEST SLUGS get to them, that is.
need 5 more, then must return to schoolwork. Next time I decide to take a double load of classes, will someone PLEASE shoot me?
nope. stid, I'm non-violent
I think we will be in the same boat as stidkid unfortunately! But having fun and it's all good experience for my son
drugs then? *she inquired, hopefully*
yes seems all my gardening efforts become slug food - but then they become hedgehog and frog food so we get our own back
i have those stid lol
how big are those slugs? (I've been worrying about that "Monster" size now
LOL most for us are about 5 or 6 inches, but some parts of the rainforest grow them big.
LOL wish we had hedgehogs around here, but the smaller critters are not generally so cuddly.
here its the little bu**ers you have to watch out for - they've even eaten my tomatoe, gooseberries and black currants
5 or 6 inch long slugs? EWWWW!
yes, we have a few of those as well... but they run when they see me coming!
bet they explode spectacularly if you dose em with salt
well nef, it's either bigger slugs or fewer trees. I like trees!
We use beer for slug traps here. It sounds like each slug would require their own can!
never had the heart to use salt, kazzer -- we get a sort of organic, bioavailable iron pellet that paralyzes the stomach
nef they'd probably gang up and have a shing dig in the woods
we had so many slugs that the beer traps seemed to just attract more to the garden. It was like a free bar. and then in the heat ... let's just say the smell was pretty amazing!
*shuddering at thought of 6" slugs*
its conjures up a picture rather like the critters in Men In Black
Kaz, can you imagine? a slug fest?!
ewwww
*sigh* down to 97 suddenly...
some strange old words today
now i have to go study Pac NW history. My grade started out with 98%, then 98%, then 94%, and the last assignment I got only 91% -- I think I will spend more than 30 minutes on this one!
75 here...had a little spurt
the sy ones got me
got the list now so those 75 may take a while
but i must go hubby is in bed and beginning to snore
have fun, stid!
nite all
lol bye again stid
nite Kazzer
later all! *poof*
nite to you all. thanks for welcome . tudalen x
Nite tudalen. This is an addicting game; hope to see you again soon!
nite Tudalen
I have a word in my list which I can't figure out how I got it from this grid. Anyone else ever have that happen?
NM, NOW I see how I did it!
i've had 2 where even after fireworks i could not find the word lol
did you do like I did and the word isn't visible UNTIL you post about it in chat?
i actually asked in the chat for someone to point out how the words were in the grid lol
YES! Thata' exactly what I couldn't figure out! :-D
do you by any chance have the mo 6/27?
nm found it
I do! Mo6/27 is like the musical 80's band mo6 Crew(sp?)
a mix of odd characters...a MO**** crew....or the heavy metal band MO**** crue
good clue
the mo8 builds from that
didnt know it was spelled that way tyvm
I wouldn't have spelled it that way myself, but that was the only available letters
I hate it when I try to make words out of tiles that are already blacked out.
I've been doing that with the O
it's the J for me
At least I'm now half way so I can go to Lickety's list now
Clue for the AM 6?
sorry, car; I don't have it.
am + vowel + ***ble Mint Gum ..
thanks, tor. never heard of it before
TY tor! I had the first 3 letters but was all over the place for the ending!

(And just spent the past few minutes still looking for a word from there Shiesh!~
Do you need a clue?
nope. was looking for that as5/10 and forgot again about the left side of this grid
i need the as 6 & 7
AS + male sheep + vowel; plural for the 7
as + r*** dama ding dong
car. your clue was much better
(I should give up cluing one of these times)
I probably lifted it from someone this morning...but don't remember!
i would have never have found those! tyvm lol

yes, red, there's a list
Yes red...I am using it wholeheartedly!

Yes, lots of good thoughts for you and your family.

especially everyday life!
I try to remember all of my friends and loved ones each day because we never know who needs some healing thoughts at any time

I did more than half of it this morning, and now I am just finishing it up.
How was your day, dear?
fireworks ...extra popcorn for me :)
Yay Kaz!
Woo Hoo Kazz!
WTG, Kaz! YAY!!!!
most productive laundry is abolished, house as clean as it can be with pigs living in it (LOL)
yay, Kaz!!!
Oy! Laundry...forgot about that. Went to the beach and created more laundry instead!
Since it poured rain on and off all day, I got the house cleaner than its been in a while and it still resembles a pig house.
nothing wrong with going to the beach
wow, I hear you there, ladies - our son thinks our house is his personal sty!
Beach is an excellent idea.
i think i have more beach sand in my house than there is outside
HAD to get the boys out! They were all sorts of wound up today!
bye all..thx for help as always! c u soon
I amwatching Anderson Cooper, "PresidentObamasAfrican Journey" Am I mistaken or did he spend like only 2days or so there? Amazing how they can make an entire special from that!
phone brb
Clue for DE 6/21 please....the very last one
red, they blow everything up these days.
yeah, reminds me of how they renamed the college I went to because Truman was there for a couple of hours once to give a speech, now Truman State U... :P
sorry car; I don't have it
Not that I am not happy that he went to Ghana, but I still think Liberia would have been an excellent choice, except I guess for security.
sounds like ride at a carnival car f***** wheel
nef makes it sound as if there was a terrorist incident...
TY!
LOL, hurshy. I'm going to have to watch what I say or how I say it!
well, thank goodness that did notoccur.
First ER 5/12?
most of what viagra does car.ee
red, Liberia isn't the place I'd want our President to be; not for a number of years, anytway
LOL Ruru! TY!
E's erased!
True, but Liberia and the United States have avery special history and connection.
and just LOOK who gave that clue! :-D hi ruru
And to be honest,Nef, Liberia is pretty safe these days.
Hi Ruru.
hi red...
red, I still work with a lot of women who emmigrated from there. I've heard some sad stories from young women
I can say that because I lived in Monrovia for quite a while...
Nef, there are a lotof sad stories out of there, it was a brutal situation. Have you been following the trial ofCharles Taylor?
no, I haven't. I know I *should* be following world news better....
It is infuriating to listen to him, so I am not sure it would bebeneficial, and its not really hitting the nationalnews...
D's destroyed
I work with low income pregnant women; many in crisis. Minneapolis has a Center for Victims of Torture here, and we sometimes have to refer some of our clients there because of PTSD brought on by pregnancy
When I was there,I knew a brazilian suregon who did the fistularepairs onyoung women, and it was amazing how many he did...
Several were raped as young children; some even have children back in Liberia who are 10-15 years younger than the women are
it is amazing.
hello, help with 2nd se6/21 pls
5 left
What bothers me somuch is that for most people in their 0-50 yearsold in Liberia remember a very advanced country, good school programs, electricity, running water...Now....its not like that.
sorry, peri, I don't have it.
NM
oops meant to say 40-50.

Hello Again BR.
hello
BR, can you explain the different ideas in your profile today? They seem so oppositional when re* one after the other
they are random quotes that are not intended to promote anything but thought
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY
Hi Min.
Hello Minveryork! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
hi minver!
When re** together, they did indeed provoke a lot of thought for me
Hello torgone! How are you? Thanks for the welcome!
i hate to bring the group down, but i have a personal problem i need some advice for. hope that it is ok. i found a lump in my breast last night. it is rather large. i had a mammogram two months ago, it was clean. i have two thoughts. it was there, i didn't notice and the doctors passed it off as nothing wrong - or....... it a very fast growing. i already know that i have to call the doctor first thing Monday. any thoughts? oh, and btw, i am a survivor - 15 years breast cancer.
Hello joey! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
I think joey the best thing to do is to contact your MD on monday. And I am sorry, what ascary thing to go through on a weekend.
awww joey so sorry ... first thing is don't panic, it could be easily explained ....
Yes,I would definitely call the doctor 1st thing in a.m
do you have a good support system nearby?
Hi wildcat17!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

i wish that i did
hi min I just finished ..

anyone you could spend time with tomorrow who could hold you up emotionally?
joey, do you do monthly breast exams? if it suddenly appeared, you could call the on-call doc this weekend; but try to remember when the last time you did your own breast exam and if you felt anything
i don't do it monthly, unfortunately, but i think that i am pretty body aware....... but........ it could have been there. it also could be scar tissue from the last surgeries. i am just a little on edge
it is mother daughter day tomorrow and the last thing that i want to do is tell my mom. she would worry worse than me
what part of the breast is it in? Is it near the old surgical area?
previous ca was left, this is right, had a reduction and this could be there.
hang in there ... I hope it turns out to be nothing worrisome
thanks
I would guess that only an exam and a doctor can help figure this out. When you call Monday, be sure to get the mammogram results and the mammograms themselves too
sure will, thanks for reminding me
for the appointment
How many words today, anyone? Please and thanks!

oh gee nef... you don't normally have hard days. I am sorry
(and I can't type for sh*t tonight; how did you get that clue?)
I wasn't even planning on playing today, but the paper and the chapters I had to read, and the summaries and critiques I am writing ... *sigh* I just wanted some "normal" time
LOL stid! I do have hard days; just not such stupid ones as I have had here today
mo 5/14?
oh -- and an important learning for me today was that the spray-on wall texture is HIGHLY toxic. Took me an hour to recover my wits after using just one can. Glad that's all I had, though I must get more to finish the project. *sigh* why is home improvement so bloddy difficult!
or bloody...
I don't have it jmc Sorry
fashion mo***
mo 5/14 is like cindy crawford or Elle, catwalk ladies

which reminds me, I should head out now and check the budgie before I revert to student work. thanks again for the help and the cameraderie... Nef, hope that phone call happens soon for you.
bye stid!
thanks stid
oh -- the skylight that leaked TWO YEARS ago necessitated replacing large segments of wallboard which my darling tom put off replacing until I threw a hissy fit last week -- we have a houseguest coming next saturday for three weeks, and it's the only space to put him.
nothing worse than a soggy guest bed
ahh! I know how that goes! :-) Good Luck!
anyway, wallboard and taping first, then texture, then paint, then trim, then window covering, then bed... while finishing up mid-term rush of papers, tests, etc etc.
((hugs everyone and wanders off)) *poof*
last ey 4/6?
anagram of 2nd ey4.6

just went to chicago and cant get home

nope
dry, and high temp of 78, low in the 50s
tomorrow to be same
jmc - you could paint "angry e***" on your e** lids, so that when you nod off the mugger thinks you are awake...
low risk of thunderstorms
then why f$%^&*()_+ are they not taking me home then
lol good idea angel
*gets angry e** on face without paint*
I hope they can get you home soon...
i'll never find last 78 in 30 min
its very cl5 that we ne4 cl7 clues to help people finish. there is no ne4 to make a ca6 of this
could be weather elsewhere, may that plane arrives soon, or departs soon, as case may be
not to worry seain - I have 137 left!
the plane is here and has been for a couple of hours
73 left
add pl as able

and lickety doesn't always work in Safari, FYI
Hello all -- I stillhave 100 left as of last night
good to know -- I mainly use firefox
hi jill!
welcome tot he club, jilli
49 to go
Hi Jilli!
firefox started acting badly on Ma with last release
really? I have no problem with it
hi jilli
memory leaks all the time, jmc
angel, I wanted to see your icon but it's much too big -- have a look at my profile for a way to resize :)
what are memory leaks?
I have no prob with firefox
OK...brb
it claims memory, then doesn't use it properly, which eventually fills the memory and locks the program.
we oft have scores of tabs often in multiple windows, which may be why
dc, are you using a mac?
hmmm that is interesting -- i wonder if that would explain some of the issues at teh office
yes, jilli
maybe that's why. I'm a happy PC person (er, Windows person)
mayhap, jmc
hello everyone I just finished
i don't keep many tabs open, but Tom does, and we share a machine
congrats, west!!!
Hi west __ YAY!!!
I am a pc person too but my office computers have for an unexplained reason used up all of my considerable band width
whoo hoo west!
200 done!
I'm on a mac and my memory doesn't leak. I often have 6 or more tabs open at once'
well I stood enough cause I cant's stand no more
hi jilli just looked at your icon and I have to tell you when that picture first appeared on the internet I thought it was just photoshopped lol
woot west
I am going to shut this puppy down and take a walk before my flight
happy you included the explanation
we'll have 60-80 open at once across 7-10 wndows, nef
njoy jmc, and godspeed
WTG, west! Congrats! I have 50 left and am giving up again. Didn't finish last night either; just couldn't stay awake
bye all see you tomorrow
west, did you see sprite's Spirit Bear and writeup? Beautiful
40 left
*poof*
last ye, pls?
not yet jilli I'll go take a look
bye jmc
found it!
thanks nef last night I had 1 left !!!
I should hope so, dc!
stop in when you get home jmc you'll be too excited to sleep
hi west et al!
hello pav
LOL jill
hi DC!
hi, pav
DC, did you day you would have 60 to 80 tabs open? WHY???
my last word tonight was the da7...should be two words, but who am I to argue?
hi pav and seain
jilli sprite's is wonderful I love legends
because Tom has a RADICALLY different browsing style for me.
tiem for me to change icons to the Sunday Blessings, Good News, Things you're Grateful for, etc
lol pav I'll bet I know what it was
now that he's using safari, i should go back to firefox and see how it does
so glad you saw it, west
oh, and we now know that Tom's surgery will be in September, exact date TBD
I'm all mixed up I have been thinking this is Sunday
what surgery seain not serious I hope
just reset my icon...The little Angel (well, not so little - she's 15 now) took this picture.
cardiomyectomy, west - they'll remove 3.5cm from part of his heart
oh that is serious any reason they want to wait until Sept?
first available dates, an the need for some additional data gathering beforehand - bloodwork and like, and they want him to see an immunologist before surgery
let me refresh angel I can still see that beautiful pass to the water
so at least 2 more trips to Cleveland in the coming 10ish weeks
off to take poopies for their walk..
njoy, pav
brb for the flip!
DC, I'm wishing Tom an easy surgery. I worked CV-ICU for 28 years straight (34 yrs total ICU, first 6 yrs were mixed Med-Surg and CV- ICU) and had lots of pts. with heart surgery. What he's having done is so cool!
hurry back pav are you walking in the rain again?
west - same picture, just resized
thank you, Nef, i will share that with him
oh I thought you said the picture was of someone who is now 15 yrs old
he's a CCRN working in CC ICU
Nope - taken by my daughter, who is 15.
great picture, angel!
no sprinkles tonight...drove home from the east side with a "brown cloud" the sun was shining, but looked like combo fog-tornado weather
oh I see it is gorgeous
didn't know you got tornados in your neck of the woods
Really? I was a CCRN for 28 years! I was one of the first 500 in the world! :-D
TY. She amazes me with her eye for photos.
way, cool Nef!
Can you see my new icon? If not, please refresh
seain where will he have the surgery there are so many good hospitals in your area
we shouldn't have tornados here in AZ, but they might have ocurred...most peolpe just freak out when seeing a wall of dirt behind or coming at them
dc -- surgery for Tom? I guess I issed something...
we had another downpour last night after a nice clear sunny day
*missed
At the Cleveland Clinic, west
I'm not familiar with that one
we need some downpours around here -- not the Wet Coast at this point.
I first took the CCRN exam in 1978; took it in Butte Montana at the mining college there (I was going on vacation and heading out to see family; the test day was offered in 40 states back then). I was the only one who took it.
Cleveland and Mayo do most of the cardiomyectomies in the world, and he wanted to go to a facility that does that procedure regularly, so Cleveland it is. and i get to visit family and introduce him around while we're there. we dined with grandparents last time
how neat that must have been, nef :)
that works out well then seain
(I was a Mayo when I first became a CCRN)
can't say enough good things about Mayo
how wonderful, Nef! how did you like working there?
He didn't want to travel that far, which is why Cleveland won, esp since people at the Nat'l Cardiomyopathy Assoc said both Cleveland and Mayo were great for the procedure.
I am not medically ept but it sounds as though he has an enlarged heart?
great word, ept
lol
Honestly? I hated it. We moved back to the Cities; and the hospital I worked at for 28 years was much more advanced for decades in heart surgery. We did 7 different Jarvik-7's and I took care of the first woman to ever have one.
congenitally, yes, west. since birth. diagnosed at age 24, and getting the surgery at age 38.
what a fascinating career you've had Nef!
what he has is a thickening of his septum (the vertical divider ) in his heart; right DC?
yes nef, septal cardiomyectomy is the specific procedure.
he's the opposite of the Grinch
indeed so, west
we were "the cutting edge" hospital back in the 80's DC
just reading back in the chatline, dc, thoughts and prayers with you and Tom
I just googled cardio myectomy...
our son-in-law's father was a cardiac surgeon until he retired
