I LOVE Monk
Veruc did you watch it tonight?
2288185000 rm 3008 She's up now, getting the puzzle from me. :) No hospital will stop her from babbling, even if she has to paper and pen it. :)

Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow

rbud yes it is hte last season for Monk i am kind of disappointed
Nagh, I just read it aloud

hello - late flip, fell asleep waiting!
hi flosey :)
hi all...another late flipper
hi dart ;)
knut...you here?
Yeah
should ni call on her cell or room phone? don't have her cell number
hi pini
been there, done that myself, flosey!
room phone is fine, but she has her cell with her, so that works too.
i have a 327 # for her
that is the cell she has with her.
so go ahead and use that one
the 327 # i have for her, is that the cell #?, would it be cheaper for her if i called on the room phone? they won't charge her for a call in room will they?
okay calling now
the 327 number is her cell number, which she has with her. They should charge her for calls into the room, so that should work, too. It is only calls out they charge for (so far as I know).
should not. I'm obviously too tired to type. >.<
Hi flosey -- just saw you -- was busy getting my new icon -- Theatrical Productions is the theme -- enjoy!
ooooh a baby one :( hi all
hiya volley

howdy pini
hi pini and bugs

oh jilli, what fun that must have been
bugs -- that's a beautiful icon! I see a mask and a red "feather"
phants funeral acacia natural
my all time favourite theatrical production, of course, is My Fair Lady
natural, too :)
It was hilarious, flosey. So I can say I've Appeared On Broadway ;)
well then, Jilli the famous actress!
Bugs -- what's the icon supposed to be? Maybe you need to close down and reopen Babble.
Oh yes, sure.
Mine was "Phantom of the Opera" (Kansas City Royal Theatre Broadway Traveling Troupe)
Phantom : ancient

sounds like the monkey fruit with a lisp...
I think nonfun should be a word
that ze word is a new wone tome
ditto that freep
yea - a small grid - finally!
and I think nonfa4 should be a word, usually said in elevators or other confined spaces
glutton for punishment, are you, granny?

I don't think the no6 I typed is really a word, either!
too late to say bye flosey, I guess! Hi justy
hiya jilli
I have 2 no 6's; do you have more freep?

yay, anike and freep!!!
there are some mighty strange words tonight
Congrats all finishers
anike, if i can'tget my bike boots on, no ride :(
sorry, can't help with an ankle; only know about knees
how fast do you normalkly heal granny ? fast or slow?
if you're diabetic it'll take longer too
That's a pity. Will you still go anyway and just park up and watch?
you'll probably know yourself in a week, it'll give you a good idea of how far you've come since the operation
usually pretty quick, kate. but this lot was definitely more painful.last year after the ORIF i was walking reasonably well at 3 weeks
no not surgery, but crushed my heel, couldn't walk for 3 months and all muscles and tendons in my ankle and foot atrophied
and calf
well I need to scoot; have to make dessert tomorrow for a picnic on Sunday... involves lots of chopping of toffee; pound cake, etc...
eewwww, yuck, just. and bye dee
bye Dee have fun, enjoy
bye volley
I'm going to watch rest of footy grand final so will catch you all tomorrow evening. Son racing tomorrow so will be out all day
ty hugs to all of you; take care of yourselves; til the next flip; hugs to jai!!
bye dart
have fun anike
gonna run also..bye all
*poofing*
anike, depends on the weather, may go down just for the big one.
regaining the atrophied muscle can take a very long time to 100%...keep doing your physio religiously...
nite dart
my kids ( son and DIL) are moving in with us tomorrow for about 8 months to a year....big day here
Bye everyone
gn granny rose and dartie
bye anike
i know katie, i know...sigh...

you two should exchange e-mail addresses...i am a very bad letter writer..i've been meaning vto write for a week and never get around to it....too many letters need my attention
DIL?
no, didn't you say you were lraving granny?
Actually, granny, I am leaving Perth Mon. 5th and will be at the Island for 12 days. My son is doing a ride day the week earlier because he hasn't been travelling east this year.
didn't you say son and DIL?
Going this time bye
lol yeah I did (sheesh)
gn anike
kate, raving maybe, leaving not quite yet * grin *
must go forage...am starving again
she's a very quiet lovely young woman...we should be okay (I hope)
worms biting kate?
just wish we were going into spring/summer rather than fall/winter :(
it can be difficult living with another woman who's set in her own ways.
It'll be fine in that sense granny...like I said she's really a fine young woman and it's the least we can do to help them out to save money
understand, just. it's lovely of you to help them this way.
They want to move to her home province of BC but my son has not been able to get a job there yet....her family is there....and so they want to be able to save to get out there and have a nest egg
he's my only child....how can I now do whatever I can do to help him (them) fulfill their dreams, even if it means them living 5000km away :(
*not*
maybe you can go with 'em, Just? - my ma moved here after I did, and I'm glad of it
that will be very hard for you, i see that. but then, think of the lovely holidays youcan have when you visit.
lol rbud...maybe...but first I must let them get out there...but i did tell them that wherever they move, they better get a 2 bedroom place!!! or else I'll killl them! lol
i guess i'm fortunate in that none of mine have moved very far from me. in fact we all still live in the same town, big as it is
yeah granny... plus our best friends live out there too...
yes granny that is lucky!
well, maybe there is something in what rbud says!
well at least I'll have them REALLY close by, lol for a while
hubby still has his business here and we need the income...so can't really see moving out there at least in the near future
in fact, today (Sat.) is Mom's b-day, she's 79 now, passed her driver's license test with flying colors, said she'd never had to take the driving part before and had been nervous about it.
plus we have our home that we've lived in for 30 years now
one never knows what's around the corner, just.
Yes, that would make it more difficult, Just, it's true.
wow rbud...how wonderful is that!
that's true granny, one never knows.....
wow, rud. that's terrific of her. tell her well down from me.
* rbud *
and * done *.
gonna take Mom to a local historical site, we've both been saying for years that we should go, we live right near it, after all. A stop on the Underground Railway.
If I'm still alive at 79, I better be able to drive too....I wasn't able to drive for 6 months from Jan to June....this year and what a bitch that was
sorry, fingers getting cold, going to turn heating up
go get warm granny...at least you got summer coming on....we got our horrible winter coming on :(
I've got my little blanket on, granny, it's chilly here, too - definitely a bit of fall in the air
yep here too...only 7 celcius
7c is about high 40's low 50's f
are you in chigaco rbud?
err chicago I mean
No, about 150 mi. SW of chicago.
so it must be milder and not lake winds?
for the longest time, for some reason, I thought you lived on the west coast...
little town 40 mi. N of Peoria, up the river. About 450 people. Nope, no lake winds. Pretty here, lots of hills, trees and little lakes. Not cornfields like most of the area around.
so your mother moved there from where?
just, we have had the weirdest dat weather wise. full sun, pelting rain, plus lots of hail. well, what they say about melbourne weather is true.
if you don't like the weather here, wait 5 minutes!!!!
hail sucks ....we don't get much of that here but then the winter storms suck too
lol
Mom was married to some jerk in Arkansas, she moved down there from Missouri to be with him, but divorced him after he got mean, came to live with us. Has moved out, had a job, married again and outlived that one since then. Lives alone nearby.
that sounds like how my mother used to describe the seasons here in Montreal....there is winter and July!
we have had a decent fall of snow in the ski resorts as well, which hopefully will melt and run into our water storage areas
lol, here it's winter, tornado season, summer, tornado season again, and repeat!
at least we don't have tornadoes * touch wood *
we have had a tornado or 2 but that's not really a threat
we've been lucky all these years, one town about 12 miles away got nearly leveled a few years back. *knocking on wood here, too*
it's the blinding raging snowstorms and wind chills that'll kill you here
have you seen the news reports of the dust storm in new south wales and queensland?
(back for a few)
glad for you on that account rbud
hey pini. wb
yes I have granny....the red dust...unreal
wb pini
wb pini
;)
was that where Andree was? (and stid? - trying to recall)
so unusual for the dust storms to effect our major cities.
so unusual for the dust storms to effect our major cities.
if my entry killed the chog, I can leave...
;)
yes to andree, not sure about stid, but mrp was also in the middle of ot all
middle of what?
nah, pini, just our usual 1:59 gremlin
Australia is such a strange land (geographywise)
ahhhh
we were talking about the big dust storms on our eastern coast, pini
oh me...gone now I hope?
it was soooo red...we had pix in our newspaper today
ah, yes, mrp and lickety, he posted the link to the pics, I remember now.
so andree and mrp experienced them?
stid lives near me
amazing red sky pictures!
yes, pini. poor andree had to go out, and forgot she had left a window open.......
oh no!!!
oh no....poor andree...she's certainly had her share of stress lately :(
yes, I remember Andree saying she was going to go open the office though she didn't relish driving through the dust.
plus all the bs that jc seems to have heaped upon her :(
Oh, yay, finally got a un word for nbt - and still not halfway.
wtg rbud
wtg rbud
well done, rbud
a "chicane" of grid
I think jc heaped it on himself, mostly, if you know what I mean! ;)
i hit 1/2-way and then listed...still don't have NBT
uh, uh, just. let's leave that sleeping dog alone. i don't agree with what he did, or the way he spoke to andree. but i think it's better to leave it lie.
does that mean I should be paying more attention to the Tile Stats? :)
lol yeah...re jc....but the whole thing is (was) so needless and senseless and just plain dumb
agreed
I am so grateful (in my old age) to just live in a wonderful free country, that provides medical care for all....I have no patience for these stupid people who should "get a fking life"
now, onto other things. atthe isk of repeating myself to those of you who have already heard....i'm going to be a granny again..next april
lovely granny.....!
I don't ever think I'll be a granny :(
yay for new grandbabies!
that's great, granny...you'll be able to join the babble baby boom!!!
my new grandson will be 8 wks old on Sunday ;)
saw the pics, pini. he's cute as
and my granddau turned 9 on the 13th ;)
lovely.....and lucky you pini!
so, when is your new addition expected to arrive?
How sad, The Saints didn't win. Hi all
thx * beaming nonna *
sorry lynxxx...our uni girls' VB team lost tonight, too...
hey lyn, at least the cup stays in victoria
hi lynxxx...who and what are the saints?
pini, next april we think, she has to have a scan to confirm her dates
St Kilda, Australian Rules football Grand Final - just over
well I for one, can't wait til April...that'll mean that spring is happening and winter is over
well, granny, you know you'll need to keep us posted throughout...
football = soccar?
will do pini, if i start boring you lot, just yell
no
soccer?
yes just...
just, our football is played with an oval ball
American football
No - Australian Rues football
and Canadian football too
crud...I'm fading...
...if I don't go know, I may wake up with key prints on my face
oh dear, pini, bed time?
lol pini...been there, done that! :)
bye Pini, and its way more comfortable in bed, off you go
lol, pini. couldn't have that!!! sleep well my dear
thx all...have a good one...will be back tmw to finish
hey, lyn. i walked 12 feet today!!!!!!
sleep well pini
I'm surprised you don't express that lenght in metres granny...aren't you Aussies on the metric system, like us and most of the world?
(although I still know feet and yards better than meters)
just, what can i say? i'm an old-fashioned girl. i grew up with feet and inches, and that i'm afraid, is where i'm gonna stay
me too granny but I do okay in celcius lol
besides, 12 feet sounds better than a lousy 4 metres
and kilometers too
yeah hate metres and ml's...still into cups and quarts
now here's the strange bit. because of my job, i work very comfortably in mls and litres. go figure
can handle celcius for the weather but not for oven temps lol
drinks time, bbs
litres I get cause gas is sold in litres......:( expensive
bye granny enjoy your cocktails
I'm off too
beddy bye
Bye Just
I'm back just to say goodnight!
31 minutes, is that a record??
hi/Goodbye
I'm impressed
Good morning/evening all.
morning Haz
hey there haz, welcome to a pretty hideous grid!
Thank you, hurshy. 31 minutes is impressive, indeed.
i mean in sudoku people go hours... but in babble? wow.
Sudoku, as in the online one, seems much more solitary than babble. People report once they've finished rather than commenting during the torment.
which is why i feel the need to sometimes insert random comments or sing songs
i'm totally helpless with this Z today... and the C's, ugh
And are you appreciated for your efforts? Do they down numbers and join in?
sometimes!
one time we did free association and it lasted a whole day i think
That must be heartening. Nothing worse than a solo sing song. Ask Vicuna.
lol
Better still, ask her audience.
*cymbal crash*
Exactly!
i might be able to find more french words than english in this grid
It is pretty well stocked with the less well known words in the English language.
i'm going to temporarily throw in the towel, i think. staring at this at 4 in the morning is not the most fun thing i've ever done.
I think you're probably wise. It's a strange one, even in the cold light of day.
hopefully i'll see you later! have fun!
Funnily enough, I didn't know the name for the secluded part of a house where Indian women and children stay. That gives you an idea of what you're up against!
Sleep wel, maybe see you later.
bye Hursh
oh my. i don't suppose that's ra5/20? if so, i happened to find it.
bye!!
No, ze6 and ze7.
aHA!
ok, bye!!!!
Bye!
hi everyone
Hello, Andree!
hi Andree
this is a sticky one
It isn't easy, that's for sure. I've made use of morewords and the list. That alternative isn't worth thinking about.
Snow hail and rain in Victoria; more dust in Sydney and firs in Queenland...big country aren't we
*the alternative.
Not having much joy either
The alternative features me bald with fingers worn to stumps.
back again, anyone need clues?
the dust came , not pleasant but not nearly as bad, it had to happen, went to the carwash yesterday
I'm okay, thanks, granny.
hi rose, you must be sick of that wheelchair by now
wb Rose. Saw your comment about 12 feet - ! well done. Do you have any hardware on?
totally and utterly, andree
lyn, have to wear the yucky camwalker9 device of the devil)
You should think like Pollyanna, granny, and be glad that you have it. I hated Pollyanna, you could never have a good moan with her around.
and use a walking frame, can't use crutches, no sense of balance
lol, haz.would you believe i read that.... you can't have a good man
Just think how good its going to be to walk 'free' again...won't be that long
* sigh * i know.but look at the bright side, himself is now fully aware of everything i used to do around here, 'cos he has to do it at the present. * huge grin *
in a wheelchair probably thats true too, lol
I have a fridge magnet that says, 'Nobody notices what I do until I don't do it.' It's true!
yes haz, very true!!!!
That is very true!
And to be honest, I think you just go ahead and do things without thinking of them as jobs, it's so ordinary that you don't notice what you're doing.
lyn, do you know how long it usually is until a person can walk after this sort of surgery?
You're not thinking of breaking records, granny?
ummm - 3.5 months?
just wondering.after a while you begin to think that perhaps one is malingering....
just wondering.after a while you begin to think that perhaps one is malingering....
oops, hiccup. sorry.
The fact that you want to be up and about shows that you're not malingering.
Oh was that a serious question? I really wouldn't have a clue!
malinger on rose, these things can't be rushed
You don't strike me as the 'enjoying ill health' type.
like your style andree.....
I agree with Andree, the last thing you want to do is muck it up
what did you have done, my nurse daughter is sitting here i will ask her
a triple arthrodesis, left ankle.
and think of all the baby knitting you can get done!
Healing takes time. Even Pollyanna would be advising you to take it easy.
now there's a thought lyn....... where did i put thatwool and needles?
she may not be much use has been in neuro surgery for years
as i thought she doesn't know
why don't you knit a rug or something big
it's a long time since i nursed on the wards, and even then, you only usually saw patients newly post-op. hardly ever saw them 3-6 months down the track
jumper for husband - he would appreciate it today
lol, lyn. i may be good, but i'm not that good.
then again, on rocket needles i could, but i don't think the lacy look would go down well in the biker fraternity
leather & lace - oh, I don't know !
brb, dryer turned off, time for next load.
later rose
i am making soup must go blend and finish it, back soon
morning all - how are you all today
unhat
oops sorry about that - but it was my fireworks word and in my excitement i typed it in the wrong place

they said they are treating all flu cases as suspected swine flu, and the script is free too
my mum went to get it for me and she was holding it at the counter and the pharmacist took it right away and handed her the box, mum said it said on the back of the script "suspected swine flu"

Hey Lynn - strange weather in your part of the world....

Hmm yes. Very cloak and dagger!
Lynn - whats the weather doing in Melbourne?
extremely windy, fair amount of rain, and cold - we had fresh snow on some of the mountains yesterday
Is that typical for this time of year - the TV pics of Sydney look scary
lol jmitch, just read yr post.
It is sort of, and we have a lot of rainfall to catch up on. Those dust storms are a pretty rare event, the Sydney one was compared to a Melbourne one we had some 25 years ago. Just shows why they call the middle of the country The Red Centre
Gosh yes, the pics were incredible, so surreal.
Well, I think I will go and do the ironing. can I clue anyone before I go to attend to my domestic duties?
soodlebum, just read your bio- HIlarious! thanks for the laughs!

hi street ... some strange words today but if you have a degree in the English language it may help ... only kidding!!
newbies of the world unite!
Yeah baby.....
you only need to ask and we Babblers will help.
It's unfortunate Mo, my main talents lie in rolling cigarettes (major craftsmanship) and...applying eyeliner.
my talents are baking brownies and playing Yatzee
Thanx Mo will bear it in mind. Street is that at the same time???
you must have a steady hand!! LOL!
And thanks for the offer :) I'll have to try not to take too much advantage of that. I'm a bit stubborn.
My hand is steady but the world shakes ;) Lil monkey, I don't know what Yatzee is, so that sounds delicious and dangerous
BROWNIES SOUND OK TO ME....
sorry for shouting!
street, Yatzee is a dice game
it is not delicious or dangerous
Oh thank you :) but brownies are delicious...and not dangerous anymore
hi monkey.
Shouting, Mo, or showing appropriate enthusiasm? ;)
hi Mo :)
i think shouting is allowed when brownies are mentioned
both I suppose ... lol.
now you newbies ... concentrate!!!
taking a break... BBL
Yes boss will do boss no more talking we promise dont we Street....
he he he ...
bye monkey see you later.
LOL Mosh. Speak for yourself ;) (or don't?)
sorry, that's an awful joke.
not been called boss for years!
hullo all. How are y'all doing?
hello autumn ... fine thanks, and you?
Hi there :) doing good, and you?
'santa' not a word? next thing you'll be telling me he isn't real...
lazy Sat afternoon. The dr says I have tendonitis in both arms ... doesn't bode well for knitting :(
I keep trying santa in the hope it will be recognised!
sorry to hear that autumn.
cannot the dr help?
Oh Autumn, I'm sorry to hear that.
thx mo. swelling needs to come down first, then physio and will have to limit knitting for a while... once I am allowed to do it again
had to re-think my whole christmas gift list!
would a knitting machine help?
well must take my leave now ... good luck to all especially the newbies .... it a great site, dont give up. Goodnight.
Wow, I only just noticed...there's an F in there.
dont you like F's street?
Well since I'm apparently blind to them, I really couldn't say :) thanks for the luck! and goodnight
byeee .....
thx mo. Have a knitting machine
Thanx Mo goodnite
Just passing by. I finished this morning. Any clues needed?
Hi :) thanks for the offer, I think I'm alright for now. This is a statement I'll regret later
someone is always around wiling to lcue
*clue*
I'm monkey-typing a lot of them by playing 'sounds like' with song lyrics. each to their own ;)
Is there a way to know how many words are in a puzzle, or when I'm done, will it tell me, so I can stop? Maybe that's a pro feature I don't have. Plz advise.
It will tell you when you're done :) and should say how many words are in the puzzle just underneath the grid
(and it's not a pro feature)
Hey Inge: how about the CA 5/18?
If I keep trying to put in 'carnal' the game WILL explode. It's like a ghost word.
n/m : found it
ca5/18 rhymes with Mr. Crockett's first name jmitch
Any help for the ae, please?
That ae 5/12 is ae plus government spy organization
Oh, thank you :)
yw
hi Minveryork. Could I get a clue for the ZA?
rhymes with the yellow fruit monkeys eat
thx.
Hi all. Is this one of those small, very tricky puzzles?
YES!!!
great. And silly me, I've already jumped in.
Anyone, anyone for either of the ZEs?!
also rhyme with the yellow fruit
ze6/7 like monkey fruit
unnar
Lovely. Thank you!
yw :-)
oops looking for a missing un
un4 un + 2 vowels

Hi 6, please, anyone? Down to my last fifteen and I want to go to sleep :)

(usually spelled with a sometimes vowel)
got it, ta! the internet makes me wonder if we even need doctors anymore
saw a show last nite about docs diagnosing illnesses via webcam
(rude of me, since I owe my life to one!)
:-D
Hello kids. 26 to go. I spent 5.5 hrs shopping today---ugh!
hey, scrabs!
via webcam?! I can barely make out people's facial features through a webcam!
Not ugh but hurrah, Scrabbler, surely? :)
it was minor stuff, like "should I worry about this mole?"
Quite often a medical diagnosis can be made with just a detailed history.
I decided to buy some new clothes for new job (starting Tuesday) and I found 2 pairs of pants, but no acceptable shoes.
well, congrats on the pants at least!
I bought new denim jeans too. And lots of books. And grocery shopping was last.
I am a LL Bean + Lands' End person--simple style.
Ohhh, how exciting :) I'm lucky with my job, I get to wear my everyday clothes. The job itself is embarrassing and ridiculous, though.
I am very casual and hate "dressing up" like a lady. Yuk to panty hose, skirts, etc
What type of work do you do, SS?
I hate dressing up, too. I never, ever, ever feel at all comfortable.
You have to promise not to laugh ;) sneering is allowed though
drum roll . . .
*zipping lips now*
Walmart greeter??
Une, do you have the ca words?
telemarketer??
Elf in children's store?
yep
Well. There is a shop in London where they hire people to stand on podiums and dance...
Chicken dancing in front of fried chicken store?
street spirit??
scwabby! your free! yaaa!
how cool! sounds very '60S!
I am back, Cross--shopped at mall (overstimulation), then supermarket (even more overstimulation).
I was trying to word it in a way that didn't sound suggestive. I got there but it's still ridiculous. When I'm not dancing, my job is to pose on the balcony.
Cross, one more day THEN I am free. Monday is my last day--120th day after resignation
you're a gogo dancer?! :-)
how exotic!
Help please with those ca words, Une?
pics..we want pictures ss..leer..ogle.....
ca5 ca + french word for "life"
ca6 ca + 4/5 of french word for cabbage
down, crossy!!
Got an english clue for the ca6?
im in trouble anyways..wife saw that
kinda like c + sneeze
Wow, Unea, you're the first person to ever react positively :D My dad was less impressed.
i can imagine LOL
ty une
thanks Une. That worked.
I figured out ca6, TY
cool
la7 & 8, please?
if you love your job,and it pays the rent, and is fulfilling and your not selling your soul for it..then it is all good
sing and plural of flowering shrub, gwen
ch 7 please?
Thanks for the sneeze clue :)
ch7 is alt spelling of an Indian relish
hmmm...I wouldn't say fulfilling, crossy! but it's actually quite a lot of fun. tiring, but I meet lots of great people (one of them being the famous nancy boy of these parts)
nancy boy! haven't seen him in a while
um, I'm not much of a gardener. *thinking... *
ty une
yw :-)
la7 rhymes with '60s band Sa*****
la6 that is, then plural
no, never mind, it's la7 LOL
That helped, thanks!
yw ;-)
crossy loves carlos s******
thanks for clues, that fireworks :)
don't we all?!
yay, marilyn!!!
He's gone off on holiday with his latest love ;) should be back soon but you never know with him...
Well done, Marilyn :)
ty
Yahoo Marilyn!
WTG Marilyn
Any of the No6s, please? I'm so sleepy the grid is blurring :)
no6 like skim milk
Hope your last day at work goes well Scrabs..and good luck in your new job :-)
no6 someone who does not root for the team
no6 not a verb + Mr. Gore
must take pups out to pee . . . BBL
Thank youuuu :D
TY, Zooz. Boss Richard Head is ordering a lunch for the office in my honor. he is glad I am leaving--his conscience.
well he will have to find some-one else to pick on now...as it will not be your problem..:-)
Last 2 ch's?
now once your gone he can really let loose eh?
So what's the new job, Scrabbler?
ch7 a bit like a relish but spelt simple
hi! first ca?
I am a pediatrician, SS, and am switching to a different practice, closer to home and with nice people.
Oh wow, that must be so rewarding!
so your drive will also be shorter, very nice
uh, thanks zooz, but I'm being dense here. All i can think of is pickle relish!
Enomis, this is uneaixoise's clue: ca + sneeze
25 min round trip for new job vs 90 for current.
more time for babble!
c + sounds like sneeze sound
gwen: ch+vowel+cross + consonant and double vowel
ch7 c+ another name for a wooden shed + ouch i hurt my k*** playing football
ca5 anyone?
Think mango, Gwen :) and of poppadoms and...mmm...
Got it!
im gonna have to list soon, this grid is kicking my butt;(
Ca5: rhymes with gravy :D
Sounds like Mr. Crockett, scrabs
LOL ty scrabbler... it is actually a french word I should have known it!
ty ss
ca five guniea pig
Crossy, I just read your bio, very inspirational :)
ca5 guniea pig ...i shpould of put..lol
ok time for bed for me, night all, happy babbling
tyvm ss;)
but 3rd cancer was just a walk in the park;0
TY for guinea pig clue.
LOL. I hope I'll never have to be that brave!
some have a harder road than i..
ch6 please?
bravery is holding on to courage for a just a moment longer
Well Street gonna have to leave you as the only newbie on here as im admitting defeat on 76 words & 996 points. It's 11.35pm in England waaayyy past my bedtime, plus i dont feel so good my throat is sore- think i must be coming down with something. So good night all
Exactly...I think everyone has a very false perception of bravery. Enduring something like that takes a lot more courage than the flashy acts of valour we see in the films...
As the last Brit and the last newbie, I must succeed! Night Mosh :)
the bravest people i know are the average people
monotonous song scrabbler with an extra vowel
i saw a man in the bed next to me smile and chat with his wife and little girl when they visited, and when they left he spent the whole night with his head in a toilet bowl and me helping him back to bed
or c + plus what ghosts & goblins do
Yes Street you go for it Rule Britannia and all that rubbish good nite
I know I should be able to figure this one, but... help please on ha5/12
TY for ch6! Next...ch5/22?
and he helped me the next, being brave for others gets very easy;) i learned much
anyways enough of that doom and gloom..lets babble!!!
I've spent enough time in hospital to know exactly what you mean :)
Now WHAT is the en5?!
scrabbler: an African plant, Cyperus esculentus sativus, of the sedge family, having a tuberous, edible root.
scrabs, rhymes with the thing you can use to exfoliate.
street: en5 is boredom
D'oh. Thanks Gwen :)
ha 5/12? please.
Of course, Enomis. How did I miss that one? TY
What a ghost does, Gwen :)
oops, wrong one!
ghosts ha5/14.
(TY, Gwen!)
12 to go--saving them for later. Bye kids.
Bye scrabbler.
Then the ha5/12 is the big empty box I have. Sigh..
lol scrabbler
Besides that one, I'm stuck on the 3rd an5/10. I think I've tried every possible combo, but apparently have missed one.
add a vowel to the an 4 before
I think that's the 4th one, Enomis
plural of 4,4 then?
D'oh! It was a stinkin' plural!!
:)
Now all I need is the elusive ha5/12.
YAY
Got it, Gwen?!
Reminded me of Gretel's friend.
hard to clue, here is the definition: a company or guild of merchants in a northern European medieval town.
Yep. Finally. Thanks everyone.
Bravo :)
How are you making out, street?
bravo
(with the puzzle, I mean)
LOL
excuse me. Four left, Gwen :) all ones that are probably blindingly obvious, too!
fireworks!
That's okay. As soon as I typed it and pressed enter, I realized that perhaps it was a poor choice of wording.
Three left! Thanks to your clue
Yay Enomis!
thought i would never finish... short grid but hard
anybody needs a clue before I go
Nice one, Enomis :) anything for the first no6 would be appreciated!
negation + something you use when you are too hot in the house
the second one is the same except for the last letter
Oh...OH. Thank you so much :)
Can we help with the others?
anything else?
gwen love your dogs!
Hm, two left...my stubbornness is getting the better of me!
Thanks. The black & white was just returned to Hawaii this week. My son should be back there early next week. (He's been deployed to Iraq since Nov.)
oh, this must be so hard for you" I bet he'll be happy to be back and see his dog ;)
Come on street, we want to help! Let that stubbornness go!!
street, we're behind you g go go
He will be happy to see his dog, and happier to see his wife and 2 1/2 yr old son.
But so close, sooo close..
Oh yes! this such a selfless job - so hard and yet so rewarding for those who choose it
But this puzzle is so tough, so tough...
Fiiiiireworks :D
CONGRATS!
yeah!!!!!!!!
Yeah! Thank you so much :D not bad for a professional poser ;)
Well, now's a good time for me to jump off. Hope to see y'all again sometime!

Hi stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
go scrabs go!!!!
How is your headache, Stid?
A nice even number, Scrabbler. LOL
Hi Scrabbler! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I am migrainy again Min, but otherwise good. STidkid#2 had his belt test (trying to get to purple belt) for Taekwondo this afternoon.
Does everyone have my headache now?
I am too... not fun.
Yes, you remember my OCD issues with even numbers + symmetry, Shiv!
How can I forget Scrabbler? I have it too.
sorry shivs... want some choclit?
*sharing choclit with all&*
If it will make this headache go away?
I'm sorry to hear about the headache stidmama. The grid isn't too much of a headache though fortunately
Decapitation may be in order.
((Shiv))--our brains are similar.
*gobbling up dark choclit* TY, Stid
LOL any time, cousin! how's your lovely long weekend going?
I seem to get them more in low pressure.
You two are cousins?
yep. sorta -- I married her cousin.
Yes, Shiv. My father = brother of her father-in-law.
Oh! Who introduced who to this?
we sorta met here, shivs -- tom and scrabs hadn't seen each other in at least 40 years.
I stumbled upon this site, recognized the Stid name and found Stidmama!
hi stid, hi scrabs (whispers so not to cause more head pain)
Oh, by the way, I finished!
opposite sides of the country, you know --
YAY scrabbler!
whooooo hooooooo SCRABS!!1
Hi dawger.
I don't think I am going to finish this one. I am feeling surprisingly unmotivated.
You were both on here and found each other?
Funny!
hi all!
Congratulations Scrabbler on fireworks!Good for you
yep, that's how it went shivs. very nice find!
Hiya nrkii.
hey nrk 1
Hello nrkii! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
I went to the closest mall today--20 mi away, then nearby supermarket. It was quite the overstimulating afternoon for me.
hey LBD
hi nrkii
great story, isn't it, Shiv?
Yeah, small world!
LOL I went out yesterday for some shopping therapy with my mother... it was fun.
I spent almost $200 today.
wow. that's a lot of food!
what did you buy, scrabs?
That is a lot for a frugal person such as me.
Supermarket = $130 (remember that Peter lives with me). Lunch = $10. 2 pairs of pants = $50.
I spent 1/4 of your amount on a celebratory sushi meal for the stidkid after the test. He ate most of 7 different rolls!
but it was SO worth it! He loved trying some new types.
easy to do with sushi...spend as well as eat!
I used gift cards from my birthday for books from Barnes + Noble, and for jeans from Lands' End within Sears.
and we ate where we could talk to and watch the chef preparing the food.
Dare I admit that I have never tried sushi?
130 with a growing boy in the house...pretty frugal, scrabs!
it's an acquired taste, scrabs. it's usually something you either love or hate. if you try it do not eat mackeral. it will turn you away from sushi.
He surprised us with a real treat -- we ordered a shrimp nigiri and when he was done eating the chef brought out a deep-fried head/legs tempura. I didn't try it (avoid wheat) but the kid tried it and enjoyed it.
He is 21, in college. Out with Marine buddy visiting family. Peter + Jim started together in kindergarten!
Yeah, I hear they can eat you out of house and home in their teens. Something to look forward to, yikes!
I like the saba (that's one of the mackeral) -- but not all sushi is raw fish; in fact I usually eat only vegetarian types.
teens and into their twenties, especially if someone else is paying the food bill!
Yes, Shiv--they return to the every 2-hour feeding schedule. My sister has 3 boys and peter is the oldest
LOL yes, they can eat a lot! but they are so active they really need it.
No, there are veggie sushis; only kind we have.
how is peter doing in school so far this year?
maki sushi is veg
Yeah they do. My two have voracious appetites now!
So far, so good. He is taking WWII course, US Constitution, Education & Literacy, + Macroeconomics. I can offer him no help in any of those classes.
How old are your kids, Shiv?
my son is now in his 30's and is starting to be picky about what he will eat. not like before when it was dangerous to be near him during feeding time.
My daughter's 12, son's 8.
What classes are you taking, Stid?
yep. we ordered futomaki, kampyo maki and kappa maki (mixed veggie with egg, pickled gourd, cucumber) as well as unagi and anago nigiri (freshwater and salt water eel), and tekka maki (raw tuna).... and miso soup. yum!
How did you type those words, Stid?
The Literacy class sounds like it might be interesting....
With her fingers?
what words, scrabs? I have been eating japanese food for over 40 years...
i like tekka, and fresh unagi
rofl... no shivs, with my nose!
Try toes...
help with no 6/21 pls
stid is so talented! lol
Tom says "hi" scrabs.
oh -- is there a grid? LOL
Don't remind me. I'm trying to forget there's one.
red: no* (not) + what ladies used to use to keep cool in the summer (hand-held flapping device)
no4 + mr. gore, big red
oops. sorry I clued a bigger no.
I am totally clueless on this grid. *sigh*
needed both. thanks all
Thanks stidmama! Why I didn't see that, I don't know.
No you're more clueful than me.
If that's a word?
hi Tom!!
wish I could give extra bonus points for understanding my clues! rofl
it is now
It is now, because I said it?
Alright, I must get warm PJs on, make hot tea, and get under a blanket in front of the TV for an hour or two. Good luck with the grid everyone!
help on the left-most H tile please?
I expect royalties from any dictionaries that include it, in that case.
enjoy the evening, scrabs. see you again soon! *many hugs*
hi6 = type of hernia
Have a good night, Scrabbler.
got it! thanks scrabs!
Thanks Scrabbler!
Do you play Scrabble on Lexulous?
not I, shivs -- no time, unfortunately
I meant Scrabbler... wondered because of the name?
shivs, do you have a sibling who babbles?
I hear you. I hardly have time for this...
Yeah, once in a while if he finds time to. Why?
Hello, all. I am home from the hospital...Thank you for5 your prayers!
N's nullified! 8 left
Hiya jaianniah.
Oh dear! Nothing serious I hope?
hey Jai! glad you are home!!!! *relieved mama look* was worried a bit when knut was on last night. hope you are feeling a LOT better?
Hiya, Sivs! Hiya all!

Hi jaianniah! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Yes, I am a LOT better than I was!~
glad to hear that, jai. you need to take good care of yourself!
What happened, jai?
have only three lef and they are all Z..have no clues on any of these. any help please.
okay, there is a Z in there somewhere, and an E word, and a U word. help on any of those tiles plese?
I do! I just do not understand why my body does these crazy stunts!!!
jai got a boo-boo, shivs... *stern mama look*
What stunts, what was wrong?
The e is very boring in France, Stiddie
I do NOT approve of boo-boos that land people in hospitals.
I have the zeds, stidmama. Do you clues for any?
merci, chere jai!
yes please shivs
In hospital because of a "boo boo?"
My entire left side of my face swelled up to twice the size- I looked like a prizefighter...have no idea what caused it
The first z6 is something a monkey likes.
De rien, chere stid! There are 3 Z'z- which shall I clue?
The second is the same, except with a different first vowel.
Then plural that for the 7.
any chance it was a spider bite? our favorite barista (at the neighborhood coffee shop) had a spider bite on her face and spent most of two days between the ER and various docs...
za6/33 rhymes with a yellow fruit big red&ze6/33 is the same thing and then plural for that ze 7/48 word
OMG, jai! How frightening!
Hello big red!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

thanks shivs! LOL thanks jai -- how about you help with the U tile?
thanks min. i'm doing well how about you
Is it all better now, jai?
U+ National Association of Insusrers
stidkid #1 had cellulitis a while back that started in his earlobe and was spreading toward his cheek when I noticed it (he doesn't notice those things)... that was in the spring. I worry about those insidious types of infections.
thanks for the clue Min. It's fireworks for me.
Oh that helps. (No clue!)
*gasp* thanks for the honking big FISH, jai!
The un 4/5 is un plus 2 more vowels and un5/14 is un plus what I wear on my head in the winter stidmama.

go, Minver!
oh, the answer to your question was that a week or so ago I logged in just as some fellow was saying his sister babbles and her name looked sort of like yours, but by the time I processed what I had read it had scrolled off...
*sigh* so we have a lot of siblings who babble. It's rather nice.
I am going to lie down and rest! See y'all later, at the flip!
Oh I see, LOL. You got a brief glimpse of him then.
I have another brother who might enjoy this too.
Goodbye jaianniah! I will see you tomorrow in the log
I sent him the link to it.
My sibling doesn't babble, but Mother does. And once in a while Tom or the boys will look over my shoulder and coach me...
later jai! BE WELL! *stern mama look*
brb phone
I see, stid. My mum is intimidated by anything on computers. We can barely get her to check and reply to her email, LOL.
Hi everyone!
Any clues for the last an4?
Hiya rolotom.
Down to 5 and I am losing steam.
an 4/4 is an plus **ke the money and run rolotom & hi
The 2 last an words have me stumped. an5 and 6 there?
thx min, I have that one, maybe the one before it?
That an 4/4 word is an plus **rah plain and tall roltom
an + follow the choo chooo ***in
Shivs, an5 is an+ fair ***de coffee and an6 is plural
An an5/10 word is an plus "The Parent ***p) Shivs Fitz
An an 6/18 is an + ending to ce 7/32 word Shivs Fitz.
TY Minver!
yw
Not getting these, sorry.
ch7 anyone?
rolotom - c + what a ghost does.
ch7 = a type of slide plus word denoting maiden name?
Oh wrong ch7 then, sorry!
Shivs - an5 = picnic pest + first 2 letters of what a train runs on.
No, that's a 6.
A ch 7/40 sounds like a sauce or relish of East Indian origin and is often compounded of both sweet&sour ingredients, as fruits and herbs, with spices & other seasoning rolotom.
TY again Minver!
yw
Min - I'll be making quite a lot of that from my green tomatoes!
3 more...so close!
I was never really big on ch 7/40. I am not sure why.
Shivs - an6 = same as an5 but with 3 of the letters of what a train runs on.
Second n4? I can't believe I can't find these small words.
hi everyone
I am not getting any of these clues. Is it the headache or my brain not working.... or, my haircolour? LOL
I can't stand it myself, Min.
rolo - grandmas.
I mean na4
Hi Andree.
I have the grandmas -- what's the other one?
Hello Andree! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
rolo - same but a slightly different word. Not so childish form.
Hi Andree!
(Sounds like Indian flat breads.)
this is a tricky one, not an easy grid
Shivs - I suppose you could try dying your hair brown. LOL
Got it -- thanks Jacula
That na 4/4 word is na plus *ova *scotia rolotom.
It's naturally that colour...shh!
ch5/22 please
Andree - I believe you're going to call your puppu Beau when you get him? I had name suggestion (see icon) but we'd best not resurrect all that from what I've read.
Shivs - collar and cuffs don't match then? LOL
lol jac, thats a favourite here, we have the book, talking book and dvd
ch 5/22 is ch plus vowel plus the **st and the furious.
A friend of ours says (of his own bleached-blonde hair) "The drapes do't match the carpeting!" LOL
Don't, that is.
Andree - ch5/22 is a sedge plant but sounds like a child's word to decribe a train (noise) maybe.
Shivs. LOL
Aaaarugh, hello everyone. I have just come from Wal- mart where I was looking at a top with a pocket and dropped my car key in the pocket, spent an hour looking through trash for it Ewwww.
thx jac and min, wondering if this grid is in english
hi red
I hope you bought the top?
Fireworks -- thanks everyone!
Mostly Indian and Latin, Andree.
And didn't leave your keys in the shop?
Oh, and French. (The grid, I mean.)
yay rolo
Hi red.
Well done, rolo.
Oh car key, yeah...you got home then. LOL
Hi redturtlehead! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Congratulations rolotom on fireworks!Hooray for you
Red, why were you looking through the rubbish if you'd dropped your key into the top's pocket?
en5 please
Andree - I'd love to see the dvd of those books. My kids used to love them (and so did I).
On my way in Jac, I threw out a bottle, so I thought I had thrown it away....
en5 = boredom.
An en 5/12 word is another word for boredom Andree
french boredom
red - but it was in the pocket of the top you'd bought, or in one of the tops on the rail?
thx red
H's heaved! 1 left
Red -ewww! Not so bad looking through your own rubbish bin, but a public one? Yuck! I hope you were careful to watch out for needles etc?

Well done, Min!*~*~*~*~*

ze7/48 was my last word.
My phantom of the day, which I 'saw' the moment I opened the grid was 'vaccine'.
za6/33 rhymes with a yellow fruit and ze 6/33 is the same and then plural for that ze 7/48 word gortmold.
share the joy, jac, give us a clue
26 left and wondering if i will have a last word
It was pretty gross Jac, but mostly just soda cans. As a bonus I collected many soda can tabs that I save for St Judes Hospital....
'Course you will, Andree - probably 'zzzzzzzzz'.:)
I will be here off and on to give clues for rest of night
Go andree go!
oooh, good clues, thanks min
Clues! yay! can I get one for the an 5
I'm glad you will, Min, 'cos I won't. Not keen to go to bed because of the repeated hallucinations I had last night at the point where you're about to drop from waking to sleeping. It was quite scary!
which an 5 r u after, red?
yikes jac, what is causing that
I'm wondering if it's something to do with medication I was recently put on. Am looking it up on the net at the moment.

I hope it was better than mine Mrp.

we're all
Hi evanonut! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
..."eyes" mrp
Nearly killed myself getting Soccer Presentation together last night, but had the most fun night!! I was hostess and had to speak throughout the night... put lots of football humour into it, but got to thank everyone and had an oops moment with one of the wives (to be expected when jealousy is involved)
hiya minver poo
I have never done public speaking before, but by some miracle, pulled it off!
what was the oops moment, mrp (i'm picturing an "accidental' nipple cripple)
i am sure you did it beautifully mrp
We made $500 on raffle tickets alone!!
public speaking, no easy task,
NUTTY! (((MRP))), Andree, gort!
thats really really great mrp!
the oops moment was when I was just being my usual self with one of my committee members... went to sit on his chair whilst he was away to chat with people at his table, and he slipped in and I sat on his lap.
dawggy!
watcha, lbd, you ol' dawg
hi ibd
hello peeps
LOL mrp, nice work
We laughed about it for a bit, I sat on his lap for about 1 minute and chatted with others... and his wife absolutely lost it!
lol mrp! what did lickety have to say about that?
owlzy boo!
She told me to stay away from her husband!! I apologized and she told me to leave her alone.
listening to percussion gun right now
where've ya been hiding, Nutty?
hi TO
Lickety laughed! he knows me, he knows Murray and he knows that we muck about... nothing untoward
i hide dawg
rp had she been drinking, people sometimes act so stupid when they have alcohol on board.
well, pooh on her, Mrp
wow, wee bit insecure in the marriage, eh?
Hi 72 Temple Owl! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Good evening to one and all
been missing you, Nut
got to LOVE white rabbit
hello owl
WOULFIE!!!, wow it's just like old times...kinda
Well, I've found nothing so far on the net about hallucinating at the point of sleeping re my medication, only a mention of 'sleep disturbance'.
yeah, everyone told her to get over herself and leave me out of it... she was told to take it up with her husband, not me!
Back to finish this...I am determined.
thank goodness for support from people who know me eh?
Hi GreyWoulf! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Hi Wolfie. Good to see you.
go shiv!
hi woulf!!
Just like old times in a new way, lbd :)
and they may well know the other woman too!
probably didn't help that you're ridiculously pretty while she looks like the back of a bus, mrp?
My get up and go got up and left, but I'm trying, lbd!
well said, woulfie
{{**Jac, lbd, mrp, TO, Min, nut, and everyone else**}}
hello woulf! red your icon is giving me the heebies O.O
I also got to Roast the Secretary and Treasurer as they are leaving after 10 years volunteer service... it was fun! I made them put on soccer shirts from the 60's and 70's!! It was so funny!
lol, would not have happened if you didn't look so good mrp
LOL gort! yeah, that was an issue me thinketh
sounds like you were in your element, Mrp!
other than i little hiccup it sounds like a fun night
andree, I looked the part and had a lot of fun!
cute
and how is beau doing, andree?
yes dawg! it was great to be hosting the night!
haven't got him yet ibd
i will call you re wednesday lunch mrp
oh, that's right, i just see his pic, and expect him to be home with you.
thanks andree!
Hope no one got a pic of you on his lap, MrP, for the local paper or something. Wifey will be even more p'd off if it appears in print.:)
ae pls?
ae 5/12 is ae plus government spy organization gort.
thanks min, once again, a champion clue
where do three year olds get all their energy from?! Seb was up at around 8 am, was nodding off but didn't actually fall asleep around 6 pm, and now at 9:30 is still futzing around in his room after we finally got him to stay in bed!
yw
jac, she was so rude... she accused me of treating her like a second class citizen because she is black... I had no idea where that came from. All for having fun with a friend.
Wolfie - how's life and the family?
Any sign of Wolf cub No.3 yet? *grins*
Jac - life is busy, family is healthy, and I am exhausted
Wolfie - sounds normal.
two are quite enough, Jac - the pack is large enough
mrp - sounds like some people just don't know how to behave in public
MrP - chip on her shoulder the size of Ayer's Rock by the sound of it.
is the hi some sort of african dog?
ou6 please
not in + pt of walk really fast
ou6/21 is ou plus what he did in the marathon Andree
gort - the hi refers the a hernia.
Wolfie - You're still the Alpha Male, I hope?
hi is a hernia of the esophagus
ahh, thanks jac, got it, i was going for a bastardised hyena - hiaena, etc
hi 6/21 is sort like taking a break for awhile gortmold
Of course, Jac -- though Kristianna and Seb sometimes think otherwise
gort - y/w
ou6/21 is not in plus what I did in a marathon Andree
thx ibd
Wolfie - kids will try it on at various points.
funny the hedgemonies (probably not the right word) you get in your mind and you can't see things any other way, until someone throws you an esophagus
right now, I am in the process of trying to completely purge the apartment of unneeded stuff in order to reclaim space
Wolfie - I know how that feels. I've been doing it for months and months here!
Have replace a couple of pieces of furniture in the past month and have made many trips to the thrift store to get rid of good stuff I haven't touched in years
good luck woulf! thats always a project.
grey, Gorty's Law of Family Life: in any given family, energy is inversely proportional to age and wisdom to utilise it helpfully
I'm doing that with this entire house! The junk just seems to pile up.
sounds like you need a yard sale, woulf
Wolfie - and I'll bet the moment you got rid of the stuff you hadn't touched in years you suddenly had need of it?
I swear it also multiplies.
16 left and have to go out now doubtful i will get back to finish, bye all
Shivs - junk breeds when you're not looking. I'm sure of it.
later, andree
la5 and last na5 pls?
bye andree
'Bye Andree.
Gort -- I do think you are quite correct TO - it has been easier dropping the stuff off at Impact Thrift -- the apartment complex would frown on filling their parking lot with all my unwanted stuff
has anyone watched the new show flash forward?
see ya andree
hawaiian porch, la5
Goodbye Andree! I will see you tomorrow in the chat!
thanks lbd, got it now
na5 is to do with birth or the name of a place in South Africa.
It does, Jac, it does.
Not yet, TO -- though I want to -- sounds interesting, but I am wondering how they will be able to carry the premise past a single season without getting to hokey
oh right. prob not worth a trip to a flea market. last weekend we went to a church fair where i proceeded to buy more stuff, the bargains were great. bought 4 cookbooks.
ohh yes that's right, someone clued it not long ago, thanks jac
The la5/10 word is a fully furnished veranda gortmold
na5/10:pregnant women get pre-na*** care gortmold
these hawaiians and their fully furnished verandas, while us ozzies have to make do with the kids' trampoline, oy!
to me , the best term for the accumulation of junk was given to us by the author Philip K. Dick -- kipple
TO - the show doesn't start here in UK until next week. I thought it might be worth a look, Ohter Half says 'it sounds like rubbish!'.
I have not seen the Show TO, I am just so happy with NCIS right now...
well it will take intense atching, more so than even "lost". and seeing the world in destruction at the hands of a mysterious group is too real for me.
he used it in the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" (basis for the movie, Bladerunner), to define the gradual accumulation of debris in cities
Wolfie - kipple - keep all?
I don't want to do that...I want to get rid of it all!
so i am now watching the comedy "comunity" ilove joel mchale
TO - don't talk to me about buying cookbooks. I'm a compulsive buyer of them.
i need to start with my desk and work my way out the door! i'm aghast at all the junk i have sitting on this table1
Of course, I then have to adapt the recipes to our taste and am ending up writing my own recipe book.
just need 3 more please: ha5, sa5 and ze6?
i have not cooked in so long i have lost the art. really.
Getting my mum to let go of a things is like pulling teeth...she keeps so much "because it might be useful some day." Old habits die hard.
sorry thats za6
ha5 (1st) is the first 4 letters of Gretel's brother's name + a vowel.
good one, jac, thank you
Jac -- sounds like you should put your recipes together and publish your own book
ca6 clue pls?ty
sa5 is what I believe cling film wrap is called in the USA.
thats correct Jacs!
za6 rhymes with a curved yellow fruit.
zanana
ca6 is a sweetie or lozenge, TO.
Makes your breath smell sweet.
That's be it, gort.
chiclet does not work
*That'd
oh sorry - multitasking unsuccessfully
anyway that is all i almost see thought it's a phantom
in oz, ca6 s are those little edible metallic balls you decorate cakes with
Apologies to anyone in Canada who felt the country rise a few feet yesterday. It was probably due to the plane my daughter was on taking off. I think she's brough most the the contents of the shops there back with her.
we call them dragees - french
TO - that's what we call them, too.
hane
now trying to finish off, can I get a clue for the ra 4, 7? I am sure its a fish.
TO - reverse the last 2 letters. LOL
red - you might float on a log one on a river?
lst two letters of gragees?
grabs a whle from the fish closet.
Or make one with wood and oil drums to escape your shipwreck island?
the whale is big enough even if it is a mammal its a fishy mammal
aahh, fireworks at long cotton-pickin' last
thanks all for your help, would have been revolting without you
still not getting the ca6 from the hints and convo
this grid was small but deadly.
red - for you. ><((((º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯` ·...¸><((((º>¸. ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. ><((((º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯` ·...¸><((((º>
me neither
Wolfie - sounds like a sneeze that begins with 'c' rather than 'a'.
ca+ type of french pastry ****x
the CA 6 sounds sort of like a frechy "Achoo" but with with a C and a french ending.
SNAP Jacula!
ca 6 rhymes with crescent shaped nut
thanks -- that gave it to me with a ribbon on top
Or try ca + French water pasty that ends in 'x'. Usedfor eclairs and proiteroles.
how about help with the la7?
la7 = wild, stinky, south american weed plant
la7 sound like the sa7 group who did the Rain Chant at Woodstock (1969)
gee gort, la 7 here is a lovely shrub
yeah, someone brought it to oz where it ran amok
that was my thought too Temple! butterflies love the LA...7
It's a lovely plant - I have one in a tub. First came across it in Portugal.
stupid babble hiccups! I tried that earlier and got rejected!
it is still lovely and does nto smell bad
cane toads, foxes, rabbits and feral pigs are also delightful in their place, but ozzies get their blood up when they run amok
gort - well, it does love hot, dry conditions...
hello friends! down to 34 earlier...
we'll take it back if you take back mel gibson
Conditions it has not seen often in the UK in the past 3 years.:(
Florida has a similar problem with boa constrictors invading....sadly.
lol temp
TO- LOL!
i spose that's a fair trade
hiya stid -- 3 left here
temple, too funny!
9 here hi stid!
HIya again stidmama, down to 8 now!

thinking I should list...
and now Fireworks!!!!!
Jac, I have the dog, I figure the boa will go for dog first!!!
un + cap
please clue for ra5/10 after the aforementioned water craft?
red - to knock someone's cap or titfer off.
TY Gort.
what is a titfer?
yw
TO - Indian princess, alternative sp. to the one ending in 'i'.
ra = ra & maiden name indicator
think it's indian money
Red - a titfer is headgear for a wedding or for Ascot.
oh yeah, what jac said
As accomplished!!! (finally(
That ra 5/10 word is a wife of a rajah 72 Temple Owl.
ty jacs
Awesome Stidmama!
Well done, stid.
thanks, how odd, its an odd word, surprised its not here in the grid....
TO - y/w
I am stuck on the CA words. help on either please?
hidee ho neighbors
whoooo hooooo stid!
hey pini and LBD
A ca 5/18 word rhymes with Mr. Crockett Stidmama.
ca5 = ca + to spar or compete with
ca6 sounds like a "sneeze"
stid - ca6/30 sounds like a sneeze but begins with 'c'.
got the ca 6, thanks!
ca 6/30 is a pill or lozenge for sweetening the breath
f-i-r-e-w-o-r-k-s
got the ca 5! thanks again!

nicely done temp
Congratulations 72 Temple on fireworks!Good for you
stid - ca5/18 sounds like a guinea pig or a hole in the rocks where Stone Age folks lived (but add an extra vowel before the last one).
wtg TO
Well done, TO.
ty
man Jacula, I have no idea what gineua pig that was...
Hi Pink.
am eating choco cake to cure the depression i feel at not being able to fit into the new skinny jeans. :/
YAY TO!
How skinny size-wise in USA sizing, TO? No, shouldn't ask that.
oh TO, I know just how you feel.... was wanting so much to fit into smaller clothes when I went shopping with Mother yesterday... but no such luck
the new thing is skinny jeans and leggings. again.
Red - it's another name for a guinea pig.
the fashion cycle is definitely speeding up
Hooray me! Fireworks!
i went from size 2 to size 6
YAY shivs!
wtg shivs
Congratulations Shivs Fitz on fireworks!Good for you
but even a six would not fit
thanks, Jac. new one for me
Thanks, Pinikula.
CH 6 please?
and TO everyone can fit into leggings.
Thanks, Min.
but the skinny jeans, I can put them on my waist but my calves are really too too large.
ch6/27 is ch plus your mother's or father's sister stid
I see another new thing that is fashionable - puff ball skirts/dresses. They were NOT a good idea back in the 80s and they are still not. Leggings should not be worn if you're not indulging in a sporting activity. I say this as someone who was skinny in the 80s.
ch6 = c + *****ed house at halloween
I'm not as slim as I used to be either. How many of us are by our ages, after kids? Some, but not many!
thanks for the ch 6!
red - that's the whole point (re leggings). They're too forgiving and comfy to get into but not the same for the eyes of the beholders.
yw
Night everyone!
I never did wear "skinny" well -- had a teeny waist but a "curvaceous" hipline.
brb phone again
...and then there's the ol' "spandex"...a privilege not a right!
Goodbye Shivs Fitz! I will see you tomorrow in the log
is the CH 7 fishy if it's my last C word?
later shivs!
I agree, I dont think the legging really look too great, its like all bad fashion ideas keep coming back. THey used to have pegged jeans in the 80's but they arent coming back...I liked them.
Pink - LOL, re Spandex.
See you later, shiv.
ch7 = it sounds like another word or c + small old home + maiden name
That ch7 sounds like a sauce or relish of East Indian origin, compounded of sweet and sour ingredients,as fruits and herbs, with spices and other seasoning.
leggings may fit but - i mean, i saw a beautiful girl in them at the mall she may as well have been nude
Ch 5, 22 please?
pegged jeans I didn't like, but pegged pants were not too bad. The one thing I hope NEVER comes back is the parachute pants. Never wore them, never will.
ch5 = ch + vowel + loo** sponge
Oh golly, on my way out the door today there was a lady checking into the ER in only a shirt and flip flops. I admit I just kept walking.
A ch 5/22 is plus a vowel plus the **st and the furious
got the saucy ch!
Thanks Minver, very much!!!
Cheers stidmama!
yw
ch 5/22 is ch + a horseshoe vowel + do re me ** so...
red - she was wearing knickers, I hope?
I am going to take off for now -- it's been a long day and I am trying to fend off a headache If I am not back for the flip, I will check in at sometime tomorrow {{**Hugs for all**}}
feel better GW...
later woulf *sends gentle breeze to take away headache* be well!
Goodbye GreyWoulf!I will see you tomorrow in the log
bye woulf, nice to see you
Worst sight I ever saw on the news (cringe-wise) was an overweight naked woman having to go down a Fire Department slide in the course of being rescued from a 3rd or 4th floor apartment fire. If I'm not wearing night clothes, I always make sure I keep a set to hand nearby after seeing that.:(
hammer pants were back for a while. i realy don't know anyone who can wear pegged pants well. in the real world i mean
night woulfie
'Night Wolfie. Sleep well.
I've got to ask! What the heck are 'pegged pants'?
not sure Jac, it was a bigger shirt, but it really didnt quite cover, enough you know...
pants that taper.
Jac, after hearing the fire slide story, I shall put an extra t shirt in the bed!
tapered leg
Oh, know what you mean now re the pants. I used to look good in them in the 80s B (Before Childbirth/s).
Red - glad you've taken heed. LOL
I wore them in the 80's, but I was 11 or so...
clue for Ha 5, 12????
down to three now!
The ha5/12 word is h plus an 4/4 word redturtlehead
Go stidmama go!
bye all- happy babbling!
Bye 72 Temple Owl! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
'Pants' in UK is a universal term for male and female undergarments. Outer coverings are trousers, jeans, slacks, trews (both of the last old-fashioned words from the 60s), and 'kecks' (a Southern UK word for fashhionable trousers).
'Night TO.
TY Minver...
yw
hi all..14 left. Very stuck, and not liking this grid right now..help with the hi 6/21 please!
down to one... managed to remember the clue for the LA words! LOL
hi6 = hernia
hi6/21 is like a taking a short break Kazozz and hello
So many words differ in meaning between here and USA. 'Fanny' for instance means somethings else entirely here in UK.
ty min
hi6 describes the stomach hernia.
you mean "fanny" does mean backside over there?
definitely the fanny thing, very very different
hey kazozz!
yw
No, it means 'lady parts' here in UK, Pink.
er...doesn't
Heyas kids ..
hiya tor
theres a tube used t o help people breathe that looks remarkably like ladies parts, Brit Docs who are crude sometimes call it a "fanny on a stick"
hey y'all. I have 13 left and getting a little frustrated
Hi Torg. Might have known you'd appear the moment 'lady parts' were mentioned. *grins*
hi AM...what can we help you with?
haha, and Fireworks for me, and bed. Good night all see you tomorro1
hey tor!!!! (((((hugs))))) and AUTUMN! *choclits*
la 7/8?
wtg red ;) sleep well
YAY red! sweet dreams
i had a great incident when I was 16 and on holiday in Miami..guy came up to me and said "hi I'm randy" and I smacked him!! Talk about differences in the language lol
la6 = like the guitarist SA*****
little did i know he meant his name!!
then pl
la 7 is like the rock musician, or the pretty red and yellow ubiquitous warm-climate plant
Hi autumn. It was lovelu to tune in in the morning onto FB and see you having a convo with my daughter. She's home now and I apologise for your homeland rising a few inches as her plane took off yesterday. She did an awful lot of shopping.
and plural of course
Do I make you Randy, baby?
exactly tor lol
*gasp* TOR! (and no, not really...)
Erm, who arw you talking to, Torg?
I cannot monkey, count to, or otherwise locate the first HA 5. HELP!
such weird words in this grid!
Kazz - LOL. Had you not heard the name before?
ha5 = sounds sorta like Ha*** & Gretel
No, I know .. I don't make anyone randy anymore ..
Hi Jac. Glad to hear that Mel had such a lovely time here and was able to do a "bit" of shopping! Maybe next time she'll be able to head my way
tor those star trek/python vids are priceless
nope Jac..not way back then!
Surely you'd heard of Randy Jackson if no one else?
THANK YOU! and firewords for me!
wtg stid ;)
I explained after i finished being mortified that maybe next time he should say " hi my name is Randy" lol
no I hadn't Jac
There was a boy in my fourth grade class named Randy... *sigh* I had the BIGGEST crush on him.
did he turn red in the face, too, kaz/
he was a little stunned as to why I slapped his face !!
I loved them, TO ..
stidkid is about to break the video game...
so I need to head out and help him NOT play on the wii for a while.
((((Hugs everyone)))) see you-all again soon. *poof*
have a good evening, stid...

Autuman - my aunt and uncle, who've lived in Canada since the 60s wer in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island for many years, but are now retired to Courtice. No, I tell a lie, they are in Oshawa, Ontario.
nice engrish, too
Autumn - Mel went to Toronto for a Marilyn Manson concert and also visits Banff (as you know).
*visited
jac- so she was able to see your aunt and uncle also?
Another aunt and uncle of mine are also in Canada right now staying with my aunt and uncle in Oshawa.
Didn't get that la7/8
No, too far away Autumn.
Oshawa-Toronto? Maybe 45 minute drive.....
la7/28 rhymes with a band called S****** autumn moon
l + picnic pest + end of the yellow fruit (ban***)
that so doesn't help me, Minveryork. ...
She went over, Autumn, with her grandparents (my ex-hub's parents) to see my bro in law and his wife, He recently emigrated there to join the police force after becoming disenamoured with policing in the UK.
thx pini
jac- sounds like she had a great time.
She did, Autumn, and my son can't wait to go over there next spring or summer with his Dad and dad's new wife.
I fear they'll all emigrate eventually.:(
Daughter told me she was chatting to a couple whilst waiting to board the plane home. They'd been in Canada visiting thir son and his wife and their grandchildren. It seems they alternate which of their children they visit every couple of years. Their daughter and her family live in Nerw Zealand.
'Blimey!' said my daughter. 'They couldn't have picked to live further apart, could they?'
That's a huge distance. But, look at the opportunity to travel!
The globe-trotting parents/grandparents agreed and said they'd like to emigrate to be near one or the other, but NZ was the preferred place.
okay - back to the grid....
What clues do you need, autumn?
Lucky 13 left ..
first an5 and the 3rd an4
both ca's
an5 (1st) is to anoint with oil.
thx
3rd an4 is old Indian currency (girl's name - An** & the King).
oops, that would be the 4th an4
Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner.
ca 6/30 is sounds like a sneezing sound autumn moon
4th an4 sounds like someone wants a reply!
ca 5/18 rhymes w/Mr. Crockett's name autumn moon
The King & I was the old film. The title I gave was for about 1999 version.
thx... (my though on Mr. Crockett was Sonny, hubby came up with the right one)
down to 5...ch7/
never mind
D Crockett, king of the wild frontier!
Oh, I guess you have to be over a certain age to know some of the old stuff. LOL
omg, i was trying to get the ca to rhyme with sonny also........ and i even have the word!! lol
not really, jac. I just find some of the clues so ambiguous that it just frustrates me more.
wtg, joey :P
for example, would you have found the la7 if I said rhymes with wrestler Tito S******
Sorry, Autumn. I'm one of the old school of Babble cluers who tries not to spell clues out. Though, being a bit of a rebel at times, I sometimes do if time is against the player wanting clues or my frustration at them not getting clues has reached boiling pint.
I ddnt mean to point that at you, Jac. Just explaining my frustration. I don't like it when clues are literally spelled out but they have to have a little more than 'rhymes with s******'
(I actually remember BOTH versions of the King and I)
LOL Autumn. Which version do you prefer?
the original
I don't care for all these remakes on movies, either.
is the original the one with yule brenner?
My nephew laughed at me last month because I didn't know they made a new Halloween movie and I couldn't understand why they were making such a big deal about it at supper
As for the wrestler clue for la, I'd only have clued it that way if I knew you liked wrestling or he was so famous you'd couldn't have failed to have heard of him. Who is he, btw?
(oh, and I agree with the cluing...don't care to have them letter-for-letter spelled out, not much on using stats for other words when cluing, and apologize for being frustrating to those outside the US culture) ;)
Pink - yes.
that's the version I like, jac...remakes are never as good as the originals
old school wrestler, http://tinyurl.com/y9xohzr
It's like people cluing "spanish for ancient word"....
Unless the original was cr*p in the first place, LOL
right...like I'm multi-lingual
inca
good point, jac ;)
or an ancient Egyptian coin
hi all
Oops, sorry! Knee jerk reaction for old spanish world clue.
lol jac,,,, so true, so true. But if it was cr*p to begin with, they wouldn't have done a remake, right?
hi joey and jmc
autumn. i don't agree with that. if some director/producer liked the concept of the movie, i am sure that the thought - I can do better - crosses his/her mind.
hi pinikula and everybody else.............
'kay, I have 4 left. Off to wander the grid for a little while, then I have to harvest my farm on Facebook. But I'll be back at flip
yes, joey. I can't think of any off the top of my head, though
I'm with joey re the movie remakes, though I've only seen a couple that were better than the originals.
I need to put leftovers away or I won't have lunch/dinner tomorrow...
And I can't think off the top of my head what they were.
or the third and fourth and fifth in a sequence. once or twice is enough.
bbl - have to get my mom and the cat ice cream
PINK - go and attend to putting things in plastic containers or wrap in your fridge. See you in a while.
and the CAT?, joey?
???
back shortly
cat ice cream?
donesnt sound to tasty!
Oh, Autumn - I see you're as addicted to your virtual farm on Facebook as my daughter is.
hi again. I started the morning and have been gone since then. I still have 51 words left to find; so I should buckle down and stay out of chog; shouldn't I?
many movies have happy endings ... the audience is glad they are over
Cats lov any food with a high fat content. Usually makes them throw up after they eat it, but they do love it.
probably nef but the chog isn't that active
:-) BR
Good point, BR. :-)
jmc - is your pc ona time lag? The chog's fairly active.
And jmc, you have a good point too
maybe I have been wandering through off and on and it seems there are big lags
maybe its me
jac - tell Mel to add me and we can be neighbours
BR - Hi and LOL., Good point, though I never did see the end of Harriet The Spy 'cos we (me and my daughter) crept out of there to peer through the doors of the showing of Mel Gibson's 'Ransom' at the time.
Hi all, just here for a second!
hi jill
hi jilli. Did you finish the grid last night?
If Kazozz is lurking, there's a message -- please contact George :)
Autumn - when she awakes (probably mid afternoon Sunday, since she was determined to stay awake Saturday and go out to meet her b/f and her friends), I will tell her. She has her own home, but I'll tell her when she comes back here to raid my fridge and bread bin.
un 5/14 please
cean
ooops. sorry; wrong box
Nef, I finished this afternoon with the help of morewords!
un and 2 vowels, kaz
Knock someone's headgear off, Kaz.
oh, I just watched Ransom, for about the 20th time, the other night. Always makes me cry...
Hi Kaz -- please sign on to GoogleTalk, ok?
no fault no foul
Aaahhhhant

thx Jac
ARGGGGGGGGGGG! I can't type laying down!!!!!
i have jilli
ch 5/22 please
rest the lap top on the heels of your hands and then type
I did that when my back was out
Autumn - I an't tell you how happy I am about her raids after all the years she almost starved herself to death. Even as a former slimming club teacher, I have no truck with any kind of diet other than 'eat a bit of everything but not too much to make you bloated'.
A balanced diet and exercise is the key to maintained a healthy weight.
ch5/22 sounds like what you do to eat supper
that's good that sh'e raiding your cupboards. I remember some of your previous posts in chog.
'kay... I'm done, finally, so I will see y'all back at flip
whoo hoo AM!
Don't use diet supplements or pills, or meal replacements, or just eat vegetables and no carbs. All you have to do is learn to react to all kinds of food in a calm fashion and not overeat one more than another. Treats are fine, so long as you don't treat yourself 5 times a day, 7 times a week. Everything in moderation.
thx for the ch clue
ca6/30?
did it help I thought it was a lame clue!
sounds like a sneeze torg
Torg - sounds like a sneeze.
Thanx! ..4 ..
go torg go!
heck i cannot eat ONE treat anymore without consequences
Any kind of fad diet might make you lose weight but will not keep you healthy for life.
Last na5/10?
The more you diet the more weight you put on in the end unless you become anorectic.
JOEY!!!
hey, TO......... how goes it?
Calories in < calories burned = weight loss ..
missed you.
sorry torg no have
it goes well...how are OU?
All you need to do is balance your intake of food with your output of energy. It's really that simple.
na + ***l, dark and handsome
Torg agress with me.

don't know if you heard, i was diagnosed with breast cancer again at the end of july. have already had 3 surgeries, start chemo on October 7
It's. just. that. simple.
i heard something in the last two weeks. three surgeries? wow
Thanx BR .. Just 3 ra's now ..
You might need to keep 2 diaries (honest ones) of your activity and your food intake. No, it's not true that calories don't count if you eat the, on the run or pinch them off someone else's plate.
two two days apart and then one on Wednesday to put the port in for chemo.
go torg go
Best wishes joey ..
Good luck, joey
hang in there joey! I will hold you in the Light
you would hnk fter so long you would be out of the woods. a long delay between first surgery and chemo, no?
Joey - so sorry to hear that.x
thanks. i really appreciate all the good thoughts, wishes and prayers. it has been tough and i am very apprehensive about chemo. i know that people have varying reactions - i am going to be one who sails through. BUT, just in case, I am going to ABQ on Friday to see the balloons, before chemo
always better to be in a good mood! and doing something you really want can to that
no, only two months since the first surgery until chemo. i could have started one week sooner but i wanted to go to the balloons
good for you.
Well, joey, just know we are all behind you, cheering you on, as you go through your precedures.
no way to tell as you well know. will be rooting for you to sail through
thanks all. i will let you know.............

ze7 is the plural.

yes, it all depends on what markers are present. Boy, have I learned a lot - more than i ever wanted to know
BR - bl**dy hell! Your bio today reads like yet another thing my son might say. You too are so similar it scares me.
You *two
I am a big fan of RLS. Treasure Island and Kidnapped were both read aloud books in my house
Forgive me. it's 4.47am on a Sunday morning and I'm hoping Other Half roasts the leg of lamb for dinner. I seem to have done Sunday dinner and every dinner for too long now.
joey i have to go to bed but i am happy to have crossed your path. you are in my prayers.
thanks TO, i appreciate it a lot
.you are liking those phillies i bet! how about a philly/ny series?
if they don't start winning, it could be a very, very short playoff. I would love to see them play the skankees in the ws
LOL!
Being a lapsed C of E who may or may not be a witch, I don't 'do' praying any more, other than The Loard's Prayer, which to me is still very powerful.
we;ll kick your arse
isn't the chopped up stuff fishers used called chuf?

LOL, I love it when Babblers correct one another.
that's it ty buddy ;-)
I asked so I don't mind
jac, good thoughts work also.......... not meaning to impose a prayer on anyone
Jpey - I know and they're headed your way.
help with any la
thanks, much appreciated
yes you did , which is why i answered, i hate it when bablers correct one another, like the workd will end. more often to show superiority
Our Father, who art in Heaven...
it kinda depends to me TO
fireworks finally arghhhh..thanks George :)
some babblers are very , very superior intellects. i ntheir own minds.
Well done Kazz.
whoo hoo kazooz
I don't mind if I made some terrible error that is relevant to a point I am making
thanks, fireworks, back in an hour!
whoo hoo joey!
ho'ws it going torg?
insomnia bites! but babble to the rescue;))
i can't abide pedants.
oh crossy is your cold still bothering you?
TO - but surely the correcting sometimes has positive results? I certainly don't try to be 'superior' when I say anything. I hope I only 'correct' those who I know should know better.
I hate being corrected for a minor error not relevant to the oint
but people assume that if they know something others "hould" know better
*should
I thought it was a question .. sorry ..
Oh, I'm definately a pedant, so that's me off TO's friend list.:(
skin dosn't hurt anymore and headache is gone, but it has settled in my chest jmc;/
it may but that does not go hand in hand with def of pedant
no it was a question torg and I thank you for the answer
that would be point jmc;))))))))))

which brings me back to help with any LA?
bye TO sleep well
i cant wait for the flip..this one is so annoying that i refuse to list:/
And as for wanting to smack for son one? Oh, I know it too well. Suurely, when they reach 25, almost 26, they should be in their own home and not still in yours trying to dictate wht you should and should noot do, at what time and when etc., etc?
this is an annoying grid -- I am having trouble even with the list
lol jac
la5 is a porch
