hi everyone
hi Andree
hi lynxxx, how are you
Very well. And you? gone out and stocked up on all the puppy stuff yet?
this afternoon, went to buy a bed came home sans bed but with $100 of halter, leads etc and toys lots of toys
I knew it!
can't decide on size of dog bed, they are a ridiculous price and i don't want to get the wrong one
Tell me...Stews size $100-$120 each...he has a summer & a winter one (yeah I know!) at least they are a once off purchase
i had an email with diet from breeder so got the puppy milk etc
thats the problem, i want it to be a one off
wow the small ones i saw were $80
i guess a summer and winter one makes sense
You should be able to get one with sides (snuggly for winter) but with a lift out cushion that can be used alone. You might find them cheaper at markets...do yo8u have anything like our Queen Vic Market?
not really, nothing like that wonderful market
i am meeting mrp for lunch tomorrow at hornsby, its a huge shopping centre so i expect to get something there
Probably. You can get quite good ones in $2 type shops (not for $2.00 though!)
i really don't mind the price but don't want to have to buy another as he grows, don't want too big as it won't be snuggly
thats a good idea , if i get a cheaper one i can throw it out when he is full grown and get the right bed
Just put a small blanket into it while he is small...like a cot blanket or buy a length of fleece fabric
i have already had to throw away the tag i had mad as i have changed my mind about his name
every time i thought beau, i could see a large springer not a little spoodle, was making me quite depressed, i guess you can't look back
his name is Hugo
Don't know if you saw this but before Sprite got her dog, the breeder asked her to bring a small blanket which she put in with the pups and the mother - then Sprite brought it home with Terra and put it in the dog bed
what a lovely idea
Hugo is cute - after Mr Weaving?
no after hugo in the vicar of dibly
lol
i don't think breeder was too happy with me, she had to go back to the vet today to have his micro chip papers changed
oh well ... it's only a minor thing - AI'm sure worse has happened to her
Hi all. Good morning, freezing here!
hi Red. Really?
hi red, hottest day since february here, over 30C
no about 18 C....but it was just over 30 C. I cant find a coat!
wow Andree
for us it we may have set a cold record low.
as you are groping for your winter clothes i am thinking must change my wardrobe to summer this weekend
Hello all - back for 74
hi ursh
I just need something with sleeves!
Oh today is the Birthday of Walt Disney World...in Fl.
Hi Ursh
that would have been a big party red
I hope people are visitng today. Now running off to ake an MD appointment on time. Must find clothign
bye Red
Must go for a while...BBL
bye lynxxx and red
*flop*
loooong walk with the pup , but really lovely
hello ata
hi ursh!
andree - cardboard boxes with snuggly blankets in make good puppy beds until the pup has grown to fit an adult dog bed!
i agree ata - they usually chew their first beds to bits anyway
and the second ones LOL
back again, hi ata, might do that, thx
especially if he turns out to be a chewy dog :)
i think most puppies are chewy
i had a chewy puppy for 14 years
looool ursh
landed up sleeping in a large dog basket with just sticking up frame around the edge - chewed off all the cross weaving and did that to three baskets in her lifetime
bratling!
Hobbit's never really liked dog beds. She has a lovely one, and only Silverclaw ever sleeps in it
good morning everyone;)
hi crossy!
hi crossy
morning ata,andree;0
phantom: littoral
is this grid hard or is it just me?
DOg beds look quite comfortable to me but I haven't tried one yet.
If the grid is hard to you, Ata, I am afraid, very afraid.
i have been at it a while on and off and still have 94 to find
And good morning to all!
hi scrabbler, all going well?
Sily's basket is the ultimate in comfort - its a gorgeous wicker basket that she can just squish herself into, and it has an old alpaca wool scarf in and a number of towels and bits that she's dragged into there over the years
Yep, Andree, I am so darn lucky that I cannot believe it.
Nice, Ata
I think it's just me, scrabs, I didn't get much sleep!
I slept poorly too. Blah.
i am so glad and hope it continues well for you scrabs
every now and then she turfs bits out and finds new acquisitions (that she's *normally* allowed to keep in there. The exception was my favourite t-shirt!)
I will have crazy, busy, overwhelming days--that is pediatrics, esp in the winter sick season, but I am with nice, nice people now.
yay yay yay!
...people with intact egos and no need for power/control etc
busy is fine if people you work with are nice
It makes a huge difference.
7 Z words....I only see 1 so far
Up to 4 now
5 Z words now
Shall I keep talking to myself? Yes.
lmao. sorry, just watching news about awful child abuse with kids aged 1 1/2 to 4.
no, i'm here
Ugh, I have seen it with mine own eyes--brutal what parents/others will do to children, animals, the elderly, each other
for once I'm really quite glad that I can't imagine what the whole thing involved
E word clues please?
its hard to believe
sadistic sexual assault. 2 women - both mothers - and a man. humans!
volcano babblet
volcano!
volcano is one
Sick in the head, with no respect for others
I missed the volcano. Scrabbler, wake up!
phantom: nitrate
I see it now, Ata
I can't stop seeing it!
Oh, no, Babble psychosis. Ata, close your eyes.
*closes eyes* wah! where have all the letters gone!
Visualize something else
Think about nitrites now
ooo but there is a type of big bird formed from most of the nitrates / nitrites bundle
there is an ni5/10 thats close
Big bird?
"having a flat, unkeeled sternum, as an ostrich, cassowary, emu, or moa"
LOL. ra6/18
TY, Andree
Hmm, I don't think I know the word, Ata
ra + fork prong?
ra + not loose
Not loose?
I found ra6 now--I always thought it was an ore, LOL
now you know :D
I must shower now and go to work. Enjoy the day!
you too!
bye scrabbs
oooo! got the 9 all by myself!
wow, what does it start with?
st8/9
good morning all - how is this grid?
i must take a break, back later
bye andree
hi wolvie and bye wolvie
this is a very time consuming grid
it really is
hey ata - got the 9 as well - ty for the start!
yay!
well that's good - i haven't played for a few days. :-)
Is there a clue for the st 8 please?
the st 8 i have is what is pluraled (sp) for the 9. man's name and not day but...
tx wolvie and howdy!!
just sent you a baby elephant :)
hey une. :-)
who, ata?
lol - oh no! that makes 5. I need another pig. lol
sorry, wolvie!
people keep sending me elephants too :)
i sent something out this morning - a sheep i think.
oohhh, is wolvie collecting?
lol - no biggie ata. I will use them
farmville une. on facebook. wanna play? I could use another neighbor!

Found you :)
great! ty much!!
Well, time to go to work.
have a great day, sukee :-)
got you and confirmed, then sent neighbor request. :-)
hello babble friends.
hi trif!
seems quiet here today...
a bit - lull right now
well, then, I am doubly glad you are here! :)
:-)
how are you doing today trif?
is it warm with you right now? I so often wish my people had settled north carolina, rather than Plymouth, Mass
too funny - we are offering on a home in oakham mass right now.
not that plymouth and environs aren't lovely - they are. In summer.
it is tooooo hot here in the summer - 4 months of 90 - 100 plus with high humidity
I have never even heard of oakham mass! where is that, down the Cape?
no - just outside 495, but south of worcester. very lovely
sorry, fiddling with a web site at the same time as babbling :)
I still think I would rather that then -10 in the summer
near palmer
-10?in summer? in plymouth?
ah, thanks. well, I hope your offer gets accepted! would this be a vacation home, or are you planning a move?
planning to move - back in fact - I lived in mass for 17 years
bring your snow shovel!
love snow. :-)
and no, LOL - not -10 in the summer, but winter here does drag on so
yes, I remember it well - but love the seasons, so I figure I can cope
snow is so funny, isn't it? The first snow of the year is always so exciting - it's snowing! it's snowing! And then by april you are ready to stick a fork in your temple
lol - true
by april? by january lol
hi, all. we're gettng out car out of the shop today. We had to have the engine rebuilt, and we've been without it for a month.
hello everybody
hi angel - glad to hear you are getting the car back.
wow, angel congrats!
hello jac
three days and i want the snow gone
;-0 ata
hey jac
heya Trif, wolvie, ata and angel
and in 12 days, my grandangel, Jordan will be a year old.
woo hoo angel - congrats!
how is the grid today?
slow going for me, but I am chatting too much, lol
jac, it's not too bad today
wish me luck
dives in
I am actually wrestling with my options for snow removal for the upcoming season - I suppose I need a snow blower, but they are so expensive! I could buy a plow to put on front of my john deere riding mower, and do the driveway with that, but it would mean a LOT of work - our drive is about 900 feet long. Or, I could keep paying the kid up the street to plow with his truck, but if we get a bad winter that gets really expensive. what to do, what to do
Luck!
I would keep paying the kid up the street for now. that's what we used to do. those long drives are a chore
i would say get a plow, it will pay for itself before long
yes, you both are pretty much where I am! :)
900 feet? get a blower for the tractor not a plow blade
yep - sounds like it. ;-)
what
heya crossy
what's a blower for the tractor, crossy?
how are you feeling today?
hi crossy
a blower is a articulated auger that picks up and throws snow
where does it go on the tractor? on the front?
it is much better than a blade for long driveways\
on the rear in most case
googling now.....
it hooks up to the drive shaft of most tractors
via shear pin
sounds good crossy
much better,it can toss snow long distances
you dont hem yourself in with snow banks
if i get back up to snow country, I will look into getting one - thanks!
np
in sonow areas, with a 900 ft driveway a traditional blade is not up to it
that's what i was thinking :-)
brb - doggie duty time
well, there are two fun things to report - firstly, the description of the JD snow blades says "for snow removal only", and the picture shows a man using it to move mulch. LOL. Secondly, the blade costs $277, the snow blower attachment costs $1399
oh wow, we could start a fund Tri
here is exactly what im talking about...
http://www.jimsrepairjimstractors.com/ snowblower.htm
good for small hold farm driveways
ty for the site crossy. :-)
and theese blowers are all mechanical, the only thing that wears out are the shear pins,so buy used
universal joints etc,but all reg maintinence stuff
I bookmarked that site for future use. :-)
excellent site, crossy thanks!
just dont try and clear rocks with it and your ok;))
I just need to rob a bank first, and then I am set! or maybe donate a kidney...
lol
LOL crossy, you don't know how funny that is! Last year my snow blower went to heaven after it "removed" a lost cell phone from a snow bank! The phone still works, the snow blower - not so much
well for our station we used to pay almost 2000 per seasonal contract,so its a toss up,get a balde or a blower and it pays in 2 years, althoiugh i dont know what the snow load is like in your area
lol trif
one never knows....that is the issue
last year in this area we averaged 2 feet per week for dec-jan
any clues for the bottom e's?
pray for the best, plan for the worst
the corner one is our fave volcano, wolvie
yes, crossy, I agree. but I am anxious that I don't run up a lot of credit card bills right now. I could really get myself in trouble that way
oh jeez - ty trfi
lol you know you bvabble too much when i am able to put that volacano in without even looking at the grid for the letters
I don't have the other e, though.
lol indeed crossy.
say goose or volacano and we all put the same thing in lol
I do that with lickety sometimes, I must admit
yep crossy - and the hairy nosed dolphin. ;-0
what trif?
okay - what the hell is that dolphin? people mention it all the time, and I have NO idea
inoa
put it words without looking at the letters, wolvie, I do that with lickety sometimes
mm i dont know they hairy nosed dolphin
not here today, so I am safe
okay, thanks! mystery solved
well, that is how the babblers call them. :-)
the thing lickety writes is here today, so I have to dance all around it!
inia. and that other word is en6 en & anagram of what you go on if a bit overweight
uln a
the ?? - oh - duh. lol
lol - ty lynxx - my bad
whoo, thanks lynxxx!
hi there, too
nbt!
Hi. Horrid grid
I swear I tried that en, and it didn't take. le sigh. ty again
past half way, time for a coffee break
at any rate, our little dolphin isn't in the grid today. whew!
lynxxx - see, that is exactly what I love about babble - I actually don't mind this grid so much, but your experience is different. it is always so interesting to me the different ways people see things. My day could fly by, whilst someone else's same day drags....
wowsa jac
i have at least grayed the z tile.lol
good morning everyone
hi flosey!
I have to work fast today - before my house guest gets up, so diving right into grid
good luck!
morning Flosey
yay! left hand column grayed out
thanks Wolvie
it is finally cool here (well, in the 60's) and my cats are raging about the place having a great time. so funny
wolvie, does the s in the left hand column start the 9?
the top S Trif
i don't remember trif - I have the 8/9 combo tho - you need a clue - as a matter of fact, I can see it doesn't
lynxx is right
that's all I wanted to know, thanks!
cool
how many io words are there? all of the i 7 tile?
7
yes in other words
have a lot with bits and medicine stuff
okay - ty lynxx
I have grown to hate the letter i so much, thanks to babble!
6 medicine
lol - i hear you trif
ah - ty lynxx
forgot the z
Morning Trif...morning friends.
that grayed that tile. ty again
trif, I LOVE GLEE SO MUCH!!!!

hello all, help with an8 pls
hi car

good morning Babblers :)
hey, nono and car
hi no no
ah. ty une.
Une, me too!!!! Tho last night was a bit of a bummer. Kristen Chenoweth, who I like a lot, must have an album coming out or something. Feel like the whole episode was "look at all the styles Kristen can sing! Broadway, country, pop!" Yes, lovely, but back to glee already!
peri the extend the prefix with a girls name
I like your icon!
well, of course, nothing could top last week's tribute to beyonce LOL!!
hey there car - have been jumping my own height every time the phone rings....any news? I guess not....
Last week was the best eppy yet by far....
hi Peri, Une & Nono & Car
got it, thanks nono
hey lynxxx!
hi peri
i agree, trif -- i've watched the football team dance about 30 times!!
No news. No text or ring. On edge. D & I have haircuts. I don't think making the 11-2 visiting is going to work at this rate.
hi all
"I knew since you were three... you asked for sensible shoes for your birthday"... LOL
hi boo
hey, boo
Agreed Une - we dvr'd it, so we have watched it over and over....
visit?? what have i missed this last weekend?
"I am here to audition for the role of kicker" ....that one got me
hi mom2
I really want to go this morning, so I prob will.
I think I got that quote wrong, but you get the idea, LOL.
Hi Wolvie.
hi mom2
trif, he is SOOO adorable :-)
go where?
wolvie, car and I are sisters, and our dad is very sick. I
Hi Nan
oh, trif, I'm so sorry
OMG.... love it... but agree that last night was a little strange, even for Glee.
I do as well, but by the time we hear anything, get it all organized...not sure its going to work.
oh. I am sorry to hear that trif and car. I will hope for the best
that's him in my icon, btw
nice pic - looks like a great guy. :-)
the other hours are later tonight, yes?
family can't get in whenever they want?
he is in the ICU, so they are limiting his hours
Yes...5-7.
where is he at - downtown boston?
ah.
back
hi jac
he was put in a medically induced coma yesterday, so I am not sure he will even know we are there, but WE will know, and maybe he will be able to hear us? he is in Rhode Island,
Car and trif, i hope things go well and am thinking positive thoughts for your father and your families
sorry to hear about your dad, Trif and Car. I will add him to my prayers
he will know, keep speaking to him
TY all.
oh, trif, am choking up looking at your precious icon pic . . .
thanks everybody
- medically induced coma? whoa. I hope it works out. I also firmly believe that folks can hear you at such times
so visits are important. touch and words. the best. :-)
just caught up w/chog.... truly hope all is well with your dad.
oh wow, that's such bad news. I hope he can get through all this OK. Keep the faith
I really f'ed up yesterday, by the way - I had put a prayer request on FB, and never even thought that Primo would check his FB account at school, but he did, so that is how he learned Pepere was sick. Yikes
Trif, if he particularly likes some sort of music take in a tape player or CD player and play it
that's a great idea, nono, thanks!
great suggestion nono
I thought of that too. Was going to check with the hospital on the regs though. May not allow it with all the medical hook ups in there.
your welcome. I know it seemed to help my father inlaw when he was very ill
Trif, he might have found out through hearing snatches of conversation, don't feel badly, my daughters weren't told their grandmother was ill, because they were so young and we had just had a loss in the family, they still say how they felt about not knowing
though maybe I should put in some Zeppelin or something, and that would drive him to heal faster so he could sit up and growl at us to "shut that crap off!" LOL
lol Trif
lol - it just might work
:-)
borrow some Screamo from the boy child....
Just sent J a text....
I must be off to the store and such - i will bbl - trif and car - on fb i use my real name Sue Duff - raleigh nc - I would like to keep up with you on this. friend me if you want to. :-)
une and lynxx, ahem. You too - as well as any babblers. :-)
bye, wolvie -- i've got to go as well -- driving up to my mom's (friended you this morning, wolvie!)
There is a restaurant in this area called "orta". I keep entering it every time there is O in the grid!
TY Wolvie..but I've opted out of fb, too much hassle
wolvie, just sent you a request!
just saw that une - thanks!
cool trif - I will check it out - ty.
too bad lynxx - but I understand. :-)
bye Une, bye Wolvie
and now *poof* see you all later!
I need the second column E for NBT please?
NM! Just got it! NBT for me!
en + an anagram of what you go on to lose weight, car
sigh
{deep sigh}
got the an 8 even without a clue
well done Boo!
is that st 8 a normal word?
depends whether you're a chemist / geologist or not
speaking of science, Primo has a VERY fun physics teacher this year! monday they were assigned to bring in random items from home that they no longer needed. the teacher took them up to the roof of the school, and chucked the items off, and had the kids time how long it took them to fall.
the kids all had a blast with this project.
He does it every year, so the kids brought in some great stuff - an old computer, a watermelon, a 25 pound bag of flour (poooom!) etc. Primo brought in a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket, which apparently exploded very satisfactorily on impact.
LOL!
the watermelon just disappeared! nothing left but teeny flecks of pink. would have LOVED to see that!
fun!
My daughter is having a unit on density in her 8th grade science class this year... according to her teacher she is one of only 2 students who "get" it... God bless her... I was the worst physical science student ever!
this is gonna sound horrible, but, to me, if only 2 students are getting it, the problem is NOT the students
Off to get haircuts. BBL.
Well, they are continuing to work on it, as it is a difficult concept... this teacher is excellent... part of the problem is that this class has many "self-contained" students... the concept itself is not simple.... that the density of a thing remains constant no matter what the weight, etc...
good luck!
yes, I see....
night everyone
sounds like maybe then the density of the students is the problem, ar ar ar
sleep well lynxxx
Hi, neighbors. Happy Rocktober.
hey there judi!
I honestly think that any school has its fair share of poor teachers, but honestly he is not one of them.
LOL Trif...
hi judi!
He came up to me yesterday and said that he felt bad that she was in that particular section, as he has to go slowly in that class... but nothing can be done at this point with the scheduling.
it's great that he recognizes her excellence and potential!
She was working on some kind of "challenge" homework yesterday... so, I guess he is trying to keep her engaged, which is a good thing.
clue for the second di 5/12
one of primo's teachers did that for him last year, and they both got a lot out of it
Yeah.... he is pretty perceptive... and he loves his job and subject area... I can tell you that much...
Zounds! I have smited the Z's!
same as the first one, boo, but switch out the fourth letter
zell done zudi!
I know that they say the way they make up the classes is better than when we were in school, but they absolutely separate the math whizzes so why not separate them all and do it the old fashioned way?? I don't know.
here they are leveled classes, reinforced, standard and accelerated, but not until 7th grade.
The other thing that amazes him (and me) is that she LOVES the metric system... she is so funny... she thinks it is the easiest thing in the world because it is based on 10, LOL!
well, she does have an excellent point!
She has been in advanced math since last year, algebra I this year... but we have such a small system that it is difficult for a variety of reasons to do it your way, LOL.
She actually asked him why they don't have metric time... LOL... she says the 24 hour, 60 min, 60 second concept is ridiculous, LOL.
OOPS... I meant that she asked me that question... I told her to ask him, maybe they do.... used in some sort of science or other... what do I know???
primo is in high school, a junior, and they have begun charging for AP classes. bums me out so much the number of things we have to pay fees for now - a fee to ride the bus, an activities fee to be in a school club, a fee to be in an AP class, $200 per quarter per sport, a fee to receive automated phone calls from the school - when does it end?
tell her to find out the answer for herself :) it's an easy one to research
Uh oh, mom. Looks like you have a genius on your hands. She can always study the speed of light, mach speed, etc. Speed/time relative - or so I'm told. Personally, I'm a math dunce.
but you can bet the superintendent gets himself a big raise each year
That would not fly in NJ... I used to be on the Board of Ed... our high school wanted to charge the kids for AP tests and in the end we, as a board, had to absorb the fees.
Ata... she just asked me this morning on her way out the door (guess it occured to her)... so I did not have time to think of that one, LOL... she has this teacher for homeroom, so I just said... Ask Mr. X.
*grins*
Judi... there are some things that catch her attention, but mostly she is just a normal 13-year-old kid.
that's what my mother used to do with me when any science questions came up - "go and find out!"
Don't even get me started on superintendents Trif!
Ata... really is the best policy, but need coffee for brain to function as a human, let alone as a parent... she caught me prior to my first cup, LOL.
What's the story behind the fawn in your icon, Ata?
mom2, I actually find your comment comforting - I often feel our is such an anomaly, but I guess difficult ones are everywhere, aren't they?
We just got rid of ours, now on a search... thank God I am no longer on the Board, LOL.
ouch! that's mean of her! lol
oh - it's a fawn we rescued while I was in Oregon. He came back to Astoria with us, sitting on my knees, and he was given to the local wildlife rescue
But they are paying a consultant $6K to "assist" them.. kind of a crock, if you ask me.
Cool Ata.
How sweet! That must have been an interesting car ride!
But they "cut" the funds for our kids' yearbooks (basically the same amount)....
ata, that is such an amazing experience for you to have had! what does their coat feel like?
good morning- how is everyone today
It kills me because we hired 2 principals while I was on the Board and I cannot tell you how many hours I spent going through resumes, interviewing candidates, etc... but the current board is mostly men who have "real" jobs... so they have no time for this nonsense, apparently.
hey there dr - all is still the same at my end
a rather flea-infested car ride lol! and I had little hoof marks all down my legs from where he kicked the cr*p out of my legs!
ATa.... wow... sounds interesting!
they have a really fluffy coat, but with strong coarse hairs overlying it. but they feel gorgeous
oh dear, ata! not exactly the bambi-bonding experience I was imagining!
hi Trif- did you sleep?
They are wild animals, after all.
yes, with some help from a sleep aid.
lol. Kindness can be painful - but oh so rewarding.
I really like animals, but I have to admit I just don't know if I could have done that. Good for you.
lol that made it sound awful. really, it was utterly wonderful!
that is ok as long as you rested. I will continue to hold good thoughts. ((Trifs and sisters))
Well, you look absolutely delighted in the photo. Can't guess what the fawn was thinking, though.
that is a very cool thing to do Ata
every time we played tony bennett, he put his head on my shoulder and closed his eyes
it was *adorable*
and they have the LONGEST eyelashes

yes there is a st 6,7 combo... st6 layer (scidntific, think archaeology, geology) st 7 add a consonant to end...with reference to the st6
well done hurshy
st = st + ra4/4 ( the vermin: changre last letter to a vowel) st 7/28 = st 6 + cons.

I'm back. Hi everybody :)
g'day, Soodlebum
hi soodle
hi soodlepoodle
Hello, soodle
Ah. Good to see old friends on board :)
hiya soodlebum, and y'all
hi Gwen
Hi Gwen
hi Gwen
i just got me ISP bill cut in half, yay
(good news for one who was almomst evicted earlier this year)
did you bundle with something gwen? good going!
especially good then
yay!!
no, i am scared of bundling. i run a small biz and don't want all my communcations controlled by one POS company
Thats brill Gwen. The darkest hour is just before the dawn!!
i can understand that. then - how did you get the rate cut?
no, i called my ISp to see if they have VOIP -- since the phone co is reaming me bloody -- and they said they could double my speed for half what I was paying. (But they don't have VOIP)
(POS = piece of S#%@, not point of service)
great! even with no VOIP - you did good. Pats on the back in order. :-)
LOL - i understood - context is all
or maybe it is just my slant. ;-0
Back patting from Soodle
my ISP kind of small, Michigan based, but big enough to be reliable. I love them to pieces
that is good to hear. Michigan needs good things right now
i buy local as much as i can. local grocery store, local farmer's market, local ISP . . . lately been buying locally made soap
so, i called ATT -- hereafter referred to as bastards -- just ot ask how to cancel my account with them when the time comes. i explained that they are billing me excessive amounts, they had no explanation. poor bastards
i am going slow today - I have ad 4, 5, al 4, an 4,4,5,4.5,4,5,ao 5, ar 6,7,8,7,4. what type am i missing please.
very good to do local when possible. ATT can be pretty bad. They are alright here for me for now, but it can get hairy
i've just sent off emails to my buddies with the good news. can't believe how effin' cheerful i am after making two little phone calls.
good way to wind up the day. :-)
oh, was going to babble until 3:30, gotta fly. POINK
bye
I have gotten reductions on my health insurance, my satelite TV subscription, & my house insurance. All by phoning the companies, telling them that I could no longer afford them, and cancel my policy. (I was bluffing), but all 3 came up with a min of 25% reduction.
good deal soodle.
Orange is *great* for that
Orange?
Ask and thou shall receive ;0
I complained to them and ended up getting 7 months free broadband
wow. really good
Soodlebum, I took time out to read ALL of your profile. Sometimes I recognized myself, other times I LOL.
hi inge
I aim to bring a smile!!!!
Guten Tag, all ye Babblers. My dermitologiest put me on antibiotics till he returns from India in November.
ummm - what for? I have been away a few days
Wow! Thats a long course of antibiotics!! Do you mind me asking, Inge, what skin prob do you have - (speaking as a person cursed with psoriasis)
It is a cyst that got infected cause the seat belt sits on top of it. I guess he said 7-10 days. Hubby os getting the medicine
Yuck. Hope the antibiotics kick in real fast.
ick. is he going to remove it when he gets back in nov?
do I dare use laundered washcloths for hot compresses?
Yes, he will remove it on Nov 5th
i have absolutely no idea. Sorry
well, that is good at any rate. at least it will be gone
Me neither. Whats the alternative to laundered washcloths?
maybe one of those microwavable compress things?
I expected him to do medical charity work in India.............Howevr, it is a vacation his wife chose
OK, will microwave the wet wash cloths!
wait, wait - i was speculating - i don't know if you should or not
did he tell you to use a compress to help get the infection out?
yes he said hot compresses and washcloth in the same sentence, to get out the rest of the infection
oh. then go ahead with them. good deal
whew. :-)
OK, I will sign off to compress my neck hotly!!!
have fun!
'lo all - back to finish - st 6/18 - the 3rd
hi Dipp
the third one I have is a layer
but i don't have all the s's
I'm finding this grid really hard today
me too ata
ty wolvie - got a diff one
Well, you know who to blame.
hi haz
stinking cold here - how's everyone else?
of course!
Hello, hello!
warm, sunny. nice for a change. ;-0
Did I see that hurshy is on British soil?
Same here Ata. I thought it was cos its been a while since I was here. Hi Haz!
the US has 50 st**es + either/**
today has been a day of liver and white springers - I saw 4 during our walk - 2 English, 2 Welsh
ty br
Hello Soodle , Wolvie and all other interested and interesting parties.
cute ata
I know! Cornwall bound!
Wow Ata, I love the Liver and white dogs, but we dont see them often.
Her husband chose wisely, I think.
I think so too
and with that comment, I am off to walk the dog in our supercalifragilistic-expiallydocious weather.
have fun red and teulu!
hi red
bye red
Bye red.
I want to do the grid, but I think he should be walked.
I think Teulu would agree
;-)
8 hours left to do the grid. You've got ages yet.
we had a lovely walk this morning - this is what I like abut Kent, within 2 hours we walked along a beach, along cliff tops, through woods and over moors
yeah, yeah, rub it in. ;-)
That sounds like fun, Ata, plenty of variety for you both.
it's just lovely to be able to do!
di 6/21?
where do you walk Spangle, Haz? Woods? Fields?
di6/21 - what you do to stuff to get alcohol.
le sigh. ty haz
Fields at the back of the hospital near us, Ecos centre has wooded walks, sometimes a reservoir near us, but living in the town she gets 'road work' as well.
Did you like my precise 'stuff'?
how lovely! Hobbit needs more road work, she very rarely gets to walk along roads
it worked ... it worked ...
She never needs her claws trimmed, that's one advantage.
no no - i was bemoaning the fact that i couldn't see that one for myself. ;-0
I bet! I looked at Hobbit's claws before her trim and one was a *talon*. It was hooked!
I know, Wolvie, I was laughing at myself for the woolly stuff that could mean anything.
that's cool haz. ;-)
even a queen can use stuff.
Did you see the article in the paper talking about how they had to remove alcohol gel etc from a prison because the prisoners were making alcohol with it.
bet Lizzie never says stuff!
i have heard of that before, yes
yes!! thats ingenious
Ingenious but dear goodness, they must be mad.
it's amazing what people will do
or incarcerated. ;-0
or very very bored
getting put in prison is my greatest fear I think. I always have nightmares about it. I don't think I could deal with the non-stimulation
What on earth must it have tasted like? Not much 'bouquet' to the product.
second that
that was for ata
about as good as meths I would think!
You could write a novel.
no bouquet would be correct, but i'm thinking they don't care
hasn't that been done?
if you were allowed pens and paper! I have utter fear that I wouldn't be allowed *anything*
Or make up babble grids 10 x 10.
Goodmorning all
you think you would be put away as a really bad a** , eh? ;-0
hey lynxx!
You could write it in your head. I see everything written in my head anyway.
Good morning lynxxx.
oh my - more torture.
war and peace in my head hmmm
don't go to prison just to try it- just my 2 cents.
;-)
I'm sure Grandpa would have managed.
Ata's grandpa, that is.
lol true. but I always start panicking that somehow I'd do something unintentional and end up there!
i'm sure as well
we'd come and get you ata
who else would update pole cats of doom?
I'm just realising, we normally chat in the mornings/evenings for lynxxx. We're all out of our normal pattern.
Yes, the fact that you are here Haz has thrown me for a six - plus it's normally still dark when I wake up and today its daylight. Daylight Savings starts this weekend for us.
Hello, all.
i have no pattern really. Just take it as it comes. ;-)
hey Vic
hi Vicuna
Hello, Vicuna.
Is Ata going to prison? May as well make it spectacular if you're going anyway.
lol yay for pole cats of doom
that's the ticket!!
that name is catchy ata. ;-0
no! ata is being uber paranoid about ever managing to get to prison accidentally!
lol it was a joke originally, then stuck
Anything "of Doom" is bound to be good.
Do you like the lighter mornings, lynxxx? We have such dark winters here, we're practically begging for light once spring comes.
Ata. Here is a solemn promise. if I hear you are in prison - I will bake a cake with a file in it for you!! (Choclit & red wine cake!!)
that was my thought
once heard, never forgotten tho.
yay!!
One of my books is "Kate and Sam and the Chipmunks of Doom."
I'll have the get away car waiting and ready to go
ok - who knows a pole cat as a weasel / stoat type thing and who knows about european polecats?
lol - I will have to look for that one
PB for Ata! Go to Babble prison!!!!
prison for ata
I always thought a polecat was a type of ferret
I thought it was a weasel-family thing.
lol
ooooo
Weasal yes, European no?
i did too soodle
soodle - keep your promise - send her some cake. ;-)
I think theres some choclit & red wine cake left in the PB. I just couldn't eat the last slice.
PCoD started when best friend informed me that she didn't know we had a something called a polecat over here lol
okay - it will have to do
Well someone go stick a file in the last piece, quick before the guards check it.
;-)
Will an emery board do?
I think Ata has escaped already
me too soodle
wheee! *escapes*!
That rebel. She never even went.
I never do LOL
she's a little runaway...la la la
Well, what's to be paranoid about? When they arrest you just tell them, "Sorry, I never do go to prison."
lol :) not sure that would go down too well with the police!
Yeah Ata! Jut out your lower lip, stamp your foot, and turn your back on them!!
Speak politely but firmly and I'm sure you'll be fine.
I'll imitate Haz
lol- just have it filmed please
Haz has refused to accompany the police??!!?? Do tell!
the queenly dismissal?
or just the wave
lol well I meant in the dismissal aspect, but ....
I'm pleading the Fifth.
I bet she got arrested protesting about Tesco
then making the fifth in prison. ;-)
You people don't even have the Fifth.
can we plead the fifth over here now we have a supreme court?
5 llamas & 3 goats escaped from a circus in Dublin today, and got out onto the busiest motorway (highway) in the country. Holy God!! Only in Ireland
special roadkill indeed. ;-0
can you have Unholy God? *interested*
And you can bet that they rang the vet.
If your waiting for the punch-line theres none. I am watching this on the news!!!!
'We have a wee spot of bother on the road.'
lol, Haz. Maybe you were pleading about the fifth goat.
heh heh
pagan maybe
lol
Sure, Ata. Everyone else's gods are always unholy.
My son makes me say "unholy guacamole" because, he rightly points out, guacamole is not holy.
Sorry - that was a colloquialism! And I sure as heck am not going to start off a religious debate on Babble!! Lol lol
amen soodle. ;-)
I can't help thinking that it can't have been much of a circus with only llamas and goats.
I wonder what tricks the goats had mastered?
I had the same thought, Haz. Why weren't their elephants and two-headed camels on the motorway?
*there
or their clowns
True Haz! Specially as they seem to have been the only ones with the wit to make a break for it!
(Actually, their works, too. I should have left my editing well enough alone.)
(hate clowns)
I'd have asked for my money back if I'd gone to that circus. That's a swizz.
Unless they were disguising the goats and trying to make out they were some rare species or something.
swizz - irish for con?
special Irish Goats
Tip of the day. If in Dublin - avoid all circus'es. The five llamas and 2 goats are impounded!! I jest not!
Yes. You're so multi-lingual, lynxxx.
Maybe the goats were the clowns. They seem to have the instinct for it. And maybe they were looking on the motorway for a very small car into which they could all pile.
oh my - lol
or eat
They'll need to be inspected now, in case they're harbouring swine flu or something.
You don't hear so much about goat flu and mad llama disease.
There'll be a civil servant in the Ministry of Agriculture sweating his way through the rule book.
no one lives to tell the tale
heh heh
E - escape of animals from C circus
The circus owner was interviewed on the TV- OUTRAGED. Complaining that the local council are charging too much for the release llamas/goats/clowns-in-disguise/whatev er your having yourself!!
rofl
Oh, if they're dealing with the local council, they're really doomed.
lol - circussing is a tough biz.
if goats are caprine what are llamas?
camelid, broadly
Escapine
Llamas defy definition.
LOL :D
llamas are loverly
Imagine what the good folk on the M 50 thought???
I'm only a vicuna because llamas were already taken! =)
Maybe the goats and the llama had fallen in love and were trying to get to Gretna Green to get married.
can they swim or would they take the ferry?
Not to go back to religeon, but 5 llamas and 2 goats are vaguely reminiscent of the 5 loaves and 2 fishes. Maybe they were going to provide food for the poor of Ireland!!
They'd take the ferry, although the passport thing might be a problem.
lol Soodle
lol
but if dogs aren't allowed, would llamas be?
I'm told goats always blink when they're getting their passports photos taken. It's a problem.
assuming they would cross to stranraer lol
;-0
(Just tried to look up your scientific llama question, but the nearest I could find was that leeches are hirudine.)
Only goats on the run would head to Stranraer, everybody else tries to avoid the place.
Haz, that's because they're embarrassed about their horizontal pupils.
I did the same Vi and found a huge long list, in which llamas were the only ones with ???? next to their name
Absolutely, it's understandable that those eyes would cause them distress.
lol I think we'd better make it up and submit it to the lists.
I told you - they defy definition.
llamine
Hello everyone! Happy Birthday Doc!
hi leigh
oooh - good ata
hi Leigh
But would the ll be pronounced softly or as with the Welsh sound.
Is everyone hanging out in the pb today?
As in Llandudno. I used to know it was a bi-lateral something or other.
seems like it. ;-)
talking about llamas
We're sorting out escaping goats and llamas. These things are vital.
I think we need something a little more original...
I see..
More original than llamine?
hi all
Yeah. Their scientific name is lama glama, which is so glamorous.
I wonder if Ogden Nash ever wrote any llama poems?
llama was in the grid a few days ago
hi jmc
the scientific name is Lama
Maybe they could be glamourine.
He wrote about bovines. 'The cow is of the bovine ilk, one end is moo, the other milk'
Soodle beats chest in mortification. Its all my fault. I am sorry. Mae Culpa. I just told ye about the llamas and goats as a by-the-way. I never meant to cause this grief!!
Soodle, content yourself, this is what babble should be about.
no grief - this be good times!
Grief? What grief? We're all as happy as llamas hereabouts.
guanacine
We LOVE anything like this.
And Haz - How about 'Cats have kits, dogs have puppies, but guppies just have little guppies'. I Lurve Ogden!!
glamourine is too good for llamas
heeheehee ata
Nothing is too good for llamas!
It gives you some insight into our strange minds, doesn't it?
Sorry guests came, back again after my very brief visit earlier
we like llamas
hi katie
hi all
i like llamas - but - not the spit. no glamour there. ;-)
hi sue
Behold the duck, it does not cluck, a cluck it lacks, it quacks. It is very fond of puddle and pond, when it dines and sups it bottoms up.
hi Katie & Sue
*ups
a one l lama is a priest and a two l llama is a beast and you can bet your cat's pajama there is no such thing as a three l lllama
spitine
Ogden Nash probably would have said something llike "I llove llamas." But that's so overdone.
ogden nash
Drinking champagne again may well be addicted!
Yay for jmc coming through with the Nash when we need it!
my favorite ogden nash btw
I'm going to google Ogden Nash and llama....
except for: i don't know why God made the fly
with those eyelashes llamas are very glamorous
it's possible not to be addicted to champagne?
Jmc - that is sooooo good! Did you make that up, or is it our friend Mr Nash?
not as glamorous as my baby deer! he had the *longest* eyelashes!
ata how do the llama eyelashes compete with the fawn eyelashes
lol ata, not in my world!
that was my other favorite o nash poem
i guess i will have to take back my "I hate poetry " stance
I was forgetting ogden nash
nor mine!
how you doing?
ata - I love champagne - s*** it over
You should never forget Ogden. It should be in the constitution, the same as it's the Law of England.
My favourite Ogden poem is about Isobel. And my favourite line is when Isobel is sick. 'she took those pills from that pill concoctor, and Isobel calmly cured the doctor'!!
too true haz but i was talking about poetry which as a class of literature I am not fond
Ah! Ogden is the
ata is offering champagne? *holds out flute*
*gives to all*
I hit the enter button by mistake. Can I blame FM?
*giggle*
May I have a clue for the di6 & 7
katie rushes off to open more bottles - Tattinger OK?
ty ty - many farmville presents will be yours
di6 - to make alcohol from stuff.
yes haz!
Deja vu, anybody?
Aw, Ata - no Bolly?
variant spelling of process for making whiskey
ty
hee! great clue haz
d's done
Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque
Deja Vu always strikes twice
We are having bolly on Saturday lol
I will take any champagne but I must warn you the only time I TRULY embarrassed myself was on champagne
Oh! Congratulations on your promotion, Katie, I saw it in the chat log.
You know you can't make a statement like that without telling all.
must have been a doozy then jmc. ;-0
I went round the perrier jouet vineyard about 20 years ago, very impressed
*sly smile in memory*
Thanks Haz, still grinning from ear to ear
Oh, congratulations, Katie!
congrats katie!
JMC we need the story!!
io6&7, not the red stuff for cuts
oh yes! congrats again Katie!
well I was at a wedding definitely drunk when I saw this beautiful woman on the stairs
io6/36 - verb
Quick!!! Give Jmc a bucketful of champers!! Maybe she will do a re-enactment
Change one letter, suefrad, look at the point count.
well - they are related sue - to use
and propositioned her
uh oh - this is going to be good...
and........
Go on, Jmc...........
tell me it wasn't the bride!
Tell me it wasn't the bride.
and she answered: If I hadn't just gotten married today I might have taken you up on it"
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hh
she was the bride
Well!
Rofl!!!
ROFLMAO - classic
You didn't tell them it wasn't the bride!
omg lmao!
And they begged you!
it was almost 10 years before I could tell anyone that story I was so embarrassed
that is too good not to tell
I was friends with the grooms mother although the groom and i went to school together
I wonder if she told the groom?
or the mother? lol
Oh, that is priceless! Did anyone have a video camera?
great story
that is fantastic :-)
not the mother because the mother would have told me later
that is the only time I ever propositioned a woman
although if I met jamie curtis face to face I might change that!
lmao that is just brilliant jmc!
hey she must have been stunning
*sulking off with blushing face*
she was stunning
Or if you'd had enough champagne you might change it!
don't blush! enjoy such a wonderful story!!
Let's hope the prisoners' alcohol concoction didn't have the same effect.
no I have had plenty of champagne since and never been tempted
got quite looped on my wedding night
ROFL haz
Did you proposition the groom that time?
huh? haz?
I didn't! Mum kept taking my wine glasses away from me at my wedding!
i did vic i did
Isn't babble great. From llamas, to Ogden Nash, to drunken lesbian passes. Where else in the world would you get it?
Good evening, I heard drunken lesbian passes, good time to join in?!
he said he felt quite inspired seeing the washington monument out of our hotel room window
nowhere - it's why babble is the best!!
jmc - we were talking in the chat log earlier about prisoners who had managed to create some sort of alcohol from hand gel.
As long as Ogden Nash isn't making drunken passes at llesbian llamas.
how clever of them!
we had a deal with my mum on ours, sober until the end of the wedding meal and then we could (and did) drink as much as we wanted
heeheeeee - jmc - monumental indeed!
When the chog is like this - I crave a night out with the whole lot of ye. i'd say it woulld be a howl!!!
since I paid for my wedding my mother had nothing to say about it -- I was 33 at the time
far too sensible for my mother to come up with!
right wolvie!
just too punny
;-0
he was that kind of a guy
laughing here
sounds like a grand time
I told him I married him (my 13th marriage proposal) because he was the only one who made me laugh
You've had 13 marriage proposals?
Hi fellow babblers!
At least.
good reason - boredom comes to fast else. ;-)
hi beach
Hello beach.
i have -- but I only accepted three of them and only married one!
I've had...only 8
1/3 likelihood of getting to the altar. Do you tell that to all the men?
a goodly number wolvie! most people only have 1
accepted with 2 of them, married none.
What's wrong with me? I haven't had a single marriage proposal, not even from my husband.
i used to get around - obviously, you did it a bit better. lol
the proposals stopped after the baby for some reason ;-)
Sheesh, you people are veritable femmes fatale!
'Only 8'. I've had two - only one with a ring though!
rofl
that's right vic you just thought I was an old fart!
Mr Haz! Outrageous!
well, it was only - compared to jmc . ;-0
I am humbled in the presence of man-eaters!!!
Did I, jmc?
it only takes one if it is the right one
I know! My daughters can't understand how we got married without a proposal.
;-)
oh soodle - lol
I think he needs to make up for that!
Not from your husband, Haz? How did that work?
So, Haz. how did the nuptials happen?
Clearly you were so at one with each other that mere words were superfluous, Haz. Tell your daughters that, anyway.
got a letter did you haz?
We just knew we would get married, no need to ask.
looked up one day and you were married, eh?
awwww
nice haz
Now THAT's too much champagne, jmc!
lol vic
lol
I was proposed to, and I was so surprised, i fell out of the bed!
We got engaged etc, just didn't ever have the bended knee and fireworks in the background. We're probably terribly practical but it's worked for us.
at least she never had the coyote moment. nor, TG did i. I still have both arms
that's very cool haz
Oh Haz, that's lovely. I got married at sixteen with my parents' consent. Lasted a merry month and a half.
Our wedding date was fixed around when lambing season would be finished.
lol Haz a girl has to be practical
silly parents street
I had one and grabbed it!
your comment was not lost soodle
wow street, not the shortest I have heard of but pretty impressive
wow indeed street.
Cher beats me with three days I think ;)
What about Britney?
best to get it out of the way quickly!
okay gals - but those celebs aren't... everyday folks.
Or does an an5ment not count?
I suspect there are a number who beat you on that account
heh heh ata
Now there's a thought to chill the soul, Ata. You might end up sharing a cell with someone like Paris Hilton.
LOL Ata. Goes without saying that, yes, it was a very very very silly thing to do.
ick! fate worse than death i would say.
brb - doggie needs to go out.
sorry to change the subject but this just in---
hiall
5 llamas and 2 goats on the loose?
Hello TO!
Hey TO
or Jordan
Religious Rights is praying for Liberals such as Obama, Clinton, Pelosi and the Governator
Pick one or more of the liberals from the list we have posted online at www.LC.org, or choose your own liberal(s) to adopt. If you are led to choose one or more of the liberals we have selected for consideration, please read their brief biographical statement, including the reasons they stand in need of prayer. Pray earnestly and intensely for them! Pray that the Lord would move upon them and cause them to be the kind of leaders who will encourage others to lead "a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence." We encourage you to seek the Lord's guidance on how to pray for your liberal(s), always allowing Him to temper your prayer with His love and mercy.
Haz....You stuck in a time warp?
I am so happy for the president to have so many people praying for him
Ack, imagine ending up in a prison cell with jordan - there'd be no room to move!
I'm having recurring deja vu, Soodle.
hi TO
hi TO
I *really* can't think of anything worse!
Deja Vu! A bit like virginity - a recurring condition!!!!
who jordan? Michael?
as they say, timing is everything in life. on whi, while bored at work sent emai lto friend in CA. she was in annpolis last weekends! GAH!'
jordan-all-boobs-and-idiocy Jordan!
errr - what is all this prayer stuff about - i was walking the doggie
Jordan as in, Katie Price. Jordan as in, boobiesss!
And you missed out on seeing her, TO? What a shame!
don't know that jordan
Conservative christians are adopting liberals to pray for
JMC - Jordan is a British wanna-be Pamela Anderson.
Count yourself very fortunate, Wolvie.
I think it is wonderful
well they were frantic with fmaily stuff so it might have been a 10 minute visit
ty soodle I was lost
I think i will take your advice haz
but whatare the odds?
google "katie price"
ahhh - ty soodle
very strange TO
Always take my advice, Wolvie.
my brother went to a wedding when they split up between the church and the reception and I have two friends who split up on their honeymoon
Oh, and btw for people who know of Jordan - she's already recorded her christmas hit with peter andre, "we're back together". You heard it here first!
wowsa katie
The odds are probably very long, TO. Will you get another chance to catch up with her?
gee - ty street. ;-0
OMG!
I could possibly entertain the thought of them making a record. But a hit?
seriously Peter Andre has more sense
Canny business woman, Katie Price.
She however doesn't
LOL Haz.
they made a record when they got together
I would happily swap my bank account with hers!
My brother said at the bit where they introduce the bride and groom there was an announcement that they had split up enjoy the reception anyway! something to do with a mirror and a credit card in the wedding car after promises that those days were over
me too and I don't even know her -- only got $9 in mine
ooooooops
i am passing time till the hairdressers...wish i had the nerve to go blond
I always had a sneeking admiration of her but she is judging the public worse than Gordon Brown at the moment and that is going some
True that, Soodle - I used to be quite impressed with her, but since she's started grabbing at publicity after all this "i've been raped" business - respect went straight out the window.
omg katie!
oops
what about the honeymoon one
The bride had got plastic surgery paid for by the bridegroom's credit card? or vice versa?
One nearly bolted at the altar but went through with it, family didn't speak to her for a year when she came back and had split
crossy,s back for more;))
more like things you can cut with credit cards and sniff off mirrors I would think!
big bucks wedding was it? ;-)
hey crossy!
that's my take on it too ata
Oh Katie, I feel sorry for poor Gordo. He's emerged into a s*** situation and floundered around like a fish on the rocks!
me three (hi everyone)
hi Dorens
I'm such an innocent.
Hello Dorens.
The other was the wierdest wedding I have ever been to. They weren't speaking on the day, only words exchanged were the vows, only time they touched was for photos and the first dance. He went home at 10pm she stayed unil 1am
It's nice to be innocent, Haz. I live in London where there's no such thing as innocence.
Both weddings were well over £10,000!
ouch!
I know of a couple. Wedding scheduled for 2 days time. Groom got cold feet & called it all off. She was OK about it, but asked that he turn up at the church, so that people would think that she had stood him up, and she would save face. Wedding day arrives. Groom shows up at church. So does bride. They got married, and have just celebrated their 25th anniversary. True story!
jmc, you went to a poetry reading! How can you hate Poetry, it sent me to college!
*trying to work out if Haz is innocent or joking*
Innocent and joking at the same time.
too funny soodle
Wow, soodle! that's really kind of romantic.
I should have put in comic font.
what a fantastic tale soodle proving once again women know best.
LOL
i wondered haz - oh she that is on the ball. ;-)
Haz knows everything
that is a greeat story soodle
Well, almost everything.
Again, comic font.
What I do know is that I'm tired and going to head off.
And! My own parents celebrated their 50th anniversary in August. We - their kids - threw a huge party for them. Before the guests arrived, they had a row - about what tie my Dad was wearing. The party went ahead, and they did not speak to each other the whole night! After 50 years. About a tie!!!
oh - so it IS everything. gotcha. ;-0
It's been fun - bye for now!
night night dear!
bye Haz
lol soodle
hubby getting me a drink on his birthday, should I feel guilty?
bye haz
bye haz, sweet dreams
Night Haz, take care
nope
Nite Haz
Jordan - top of the ti7.28? happy coincidence
thanks wolvie :-)
night, haz
no problemo katie
nope!
Goodnight!
My Phantom today is iatrogenic.... its only partly there. I wish for a grid with iatrogenic.
mine are littoral and nitrate
me too red *rushes off to look up words*
yes i tried littoral first thing
Where do you think would be the best place to get married?
me too :)
street, I think eachcouples best place is probably different.
i just looked that up - have to admit it
Nosocomial
Pardon, BabbleRabble?
Hi BR! Nosocomial isn't even partly in the grid!!!
second look up
;-0
but I'll counter with FOamite!
nice word, bab, but not a phantom
Was that a place, an emotion, or a phantom?
sorry red you noticed I said that when you weren't around!
street - where ever you both want to! I did Church, one of my best friends did a football stadium and another on a beach bearfoot, all lovely weddings
I was willing to give the poetry another try
It was kind of you to go. My parents really thought it was cool of you!
the best place would vary with the couple
For some reason my Dad seemed concerned that people wouldn't come...
it was good for me to go -- gotta keep trying new things
it was packed but the space was very very small
HEY EVERYONE,TODAY IS OUR 16TH ANIVERSARY,THE MRS IS LOOKING SO PLEASE CONGRADUALTE HER FOR PUTTING UP WITH OLE CROSSY FOR 16 YEARS!

WTG MRS CROSSY!
so 18 whole people arrived! wow.
congrats, mr and mrs crossy
how does my Dad make any money?
Don't know how you do it Mrs Cross! but congratulations
then there were about 8 people standing inthe back
I assume people buy his books
where did you go jmc?
Good grief where has the year gone, I remember the champagne breakfast last year
To Cross, and Mrs Cross - 16 years is a milestone. (not millstone). I wish another you both another 50+ years of happiness together. Loads of luv from Ireland.
of all the people who read poetry his was the one I was most likely to buy
I went to red's dad's poetry reading in DC
ah - ty jmc
how lovely
best wishes mrs crossy...
I find him a bit esoteric, jmc...and I am not really a fan of Poetry, myself, but I try to understand it.
now I am some what embarrassed that red read my comment about poetry
must be pretty cool tho red
I found him the least esoteric of the lot and the most touching
I told you that I liked his poem about grief
jmc - still can't top your wedding moment. ;-)
really? I only read you were not a poetry fan, it's ok to not like poetry, I admit that I really do not like Modern Music, like Phillip Glass, even though it's supposed to be cool!
And for the poet-phobes here - have you tried WB Yeates? Simple language, but the most wonderful images. Sort of Poetry for Dummies!
lol so true wolvie but I have lots of stories
Must get going...bye everyone
somehow, i am certain you do. ;-0
bye lynx!!!
bye lynxx
do not be embarassed jmc, I didnt read anything that I found upsetting or distasteful!
I did my poetry excursion for the year soodle
my better half thanks you all,she dont know it yet but she is going to get 2 coupons for a nordic spa we have here and a chocolate fodue for later
bye lynxx
good I didn't want you tothink I was being a martyr
I sometime find poetry difficult if it is more advanced that roses are red .. violets are blue ...
sounds great crossy!!
Cross - you old romantic, you!!
Oooh Cross, you are too romantical!!!
http://www.scandinaveblue.com/
i'm terribly embarrassed to admit that I never did "get" poetry, or at least most poetry. and I was an English major at NYU.
nice present crossy
lol dorens!
Babble - google WB Yeates - Peter Gilligan. Its just a reallly simple poem on first reading. And you can enjoy it as such. but, if you start thinking about it, there is so much underlying there. It might be a nice place to start
my mother loves poetry and used to recite it all the time
I will also admit that I think george Elliot, author of Middle march wrote a long and dull book, despite its popularity and status as a classic...
un 6/21 - first one?
I read a lot of poetry ... I just don't see the same things the critics talk about
my father did, j. and I was so sorry that I couldn't share it with him, but my sister did, so that was ok
un + formal eating
I like the poem about a wheelbarrow...
I never understood anything in English class
I love wilfred owen but the rest I could take or leave
but I am not a very creative person which is odd, given my parentage.
that is the 6/24 - have that one - this is after und*
but ty br
I think your mother would disagree that you are uncreative
i liked ferlinghetti when i was a teenager
not posted
un+mail?
My Mother. She is adorable to me...
doren didn't you read rod mc keun too?!
she is so happy you are taking photographs now
Well - alll the better for you Babble. There is nothing as personal as poetry. May I recommend 'The Deserted village' by Oliver Goldsmith. A very long poem, but if you just find the bit about the village school-teacher. Just wonderful
oh man - ty jmc! fireworks
your mother is adorable
I'm not creative but do appreciate it in others. I'm more a practical girl!
yw wolvie!
I am not sure they are mutually exclusive
I just love that she has her own life and does not meddle that much in mine!
didn't really like him that much owl..
always a good tr5 in a mother red
practicality works well in most situations!
he was so faddish at the time
Katie, where are you going on Holiday next? I saw you have booked!!!

well all - hate to play and run, but i must be off to make dinner. happy babbling all!!
he was. but didn't capture my attention. Now at that time I did consider Dylan and Leonard Cohen to be great poets (didn't know i didn't like poetry at that time, actually)
well i get kind of shaggy
you'll look mahhvelous! have fun
what? no one recognized my "laugh in" reference? in this crowd?
lets see, cherries, strawberries, peach and pear cubes, apple cubes, honeydew mellon balls and 2 pounds of belgian dark chocolate;))
hah! and i did watch that show religiously too, j, sorry
Stoppit Crossy.
i am still reeling from that earlier thing je..my friend and i seem to operate on a smiliar wavelength, we often do things like this coincidence
no champagne crossy?
lol
sounds good crossy, and happy anniversary to you and mrs. crosshair
tyvm
I have a graduate trainee who is very esoteric I was put as his manager to bring him back to reality when necessary. " for god sake who gives a stuff about the shape of the trees we are going to be late for the seminar"
I can't remember the name of the guy though dorens
we have some beverages of a adult nature around somewhere
not arte but the other short guy
red - we have booked for Crete again next year for two weeks as we liked it so much this year
henry?
that's it
SOunds great katie. I have been having a strong hankering to see Venice and Murano. I might just next summer.
he was in a several robert altman films, too - funny guy
and I think it was actually "Mr. McKuen, what are you doin?"
I was nearing the end of booking it on Monday when the phone call came to offer me the promotion, so excited that we never completed it
went back yesterday to have another go and it had gone down by £100, it really is my week
As shown by the fact that I have been on champagne for 4 nights this week lol
clue for the OT please for "fireworks"
Nice Katie. I really need to take more holidays!
they take our holiday hours if we dont use them, and I think I'll lose a bit this year...
dspike, it is an ear infection.
ot - a medical complaint of the ear
In keeping with the poetic/llama/goat/lesbian/nuptial/them e of tonights babble, I will wish you alll...............Good Night!
hai wolvie hav r u
night soodle
bye soodel, did you finish?
t s fireworks
We have loads of holiday, although I do lose a week by virtue of the new job
ty all
Not a hope Red. I will always finish if i steer clear of the chog. But when I am sucked in....not a hope. But the jury is still out about which is better -having the craic with the babblers, or finishing!!
I'm going for having the craic
whoo hoo preethi
congrats preethi
whoo hoo dspike
I only have 88 but I only started in April officially at my job.
congrats dspike!
if i have to choose I choose the chog
okay now that the big hairy motorcade has gone by (yawn) I am going home.
bbl
I have started a new rule about not starting unles i intend to finish so far it has not worked too well!
i'm off to bed too, have to look like a responsible adult at work now lol

hi Dr speed Welki!
i see yours, dr .. a bunny (and your post has appeared four times)
hi, speed, welki, dr, and red
Hi DC, how are things???
hi red, seain
evening dc and red and dr
thanks welki- was having SERIOUS lag issue
well, thank you. red. We're home since last night, and leave again for cleveland on Saturday, as we're going to visit my grandmother on Sunday and he has follow-up from 8-11 on Monday.
Hi DC, Red, speed
it's been a whirlwind 2 weeks. Upside, i may start a job next week.
do tell DC
COngratulations DC. How is Tom feeling?
hi all
yay DC!!!
Hi Nrkii
he's hurting - we need to go to the pharmacy and pick up his Lidocaine patches and his percocet.
good news dc what kind of job
hi, nrk
hi Nkrii, you are getting the cooler weather?
does he like percocet?
2nd level helpdesk for Visa Int'l. Don't know for sure, but i know i'm a top candidate.
hi nrk (how'd things work out with the neighbors?)
ys, nrk, it helps a lot.
I hated it when I had shoulder done... was happier with vicodin, even though "not as strong"
okay welki, thanks for remembering.... I left them a card, and made a donation, and then ran into the son and had a nice chat with him
vicodin does nothing for him. Hi had dilaudid, then went to percocet when switched to oral
crossed fingers for DC
*crossing fingers, too8
strange that percocet does nothing for me, and vicodin knocks me on my ass
Give tom a big hug (a gentle one) from me....
every body is different.
will do, red :)
that is odd Nkrii, its usually the oppostie..
mine sure is :)
I hope that job works out for you DC!!!
Seain, if the percs and lidoderm dont work, he can get dilaudid PO.
{{{DC}}} sorry to read that Tom is hurting. Been thinking of you both.
me too. 4 mo contract, but beats nothing
lidoderm and percs were were working in hospital, so we're guessing it'll be fine at home.
hi, judy, and thank you. :)
yes, I always say work is highly overrated, but just today I realized that unemployment is highly overrated too
that is better than nothing and so often those contracts turn into something longer, you can see if you like it!!!
I want to go back to work!!!
and good luck on the potential job, DC
i learned that my sister and i get to split 1/4 of my grandfather's estate. That's weeks or months away yet though.
thanks, judy
...and i would, some day, like to retire (on lottery winnings, seems to be the only way)
alabaster had a growth spurt while we were away. we came home to a bigger cat
I can not imagine not haivng a job, it would be very difficult for me...
Neat DC!
welki, that would be the best of both worlds... lottery = work if you want, babble the rest of the time...
have a "new" cat in the house--Princess. Youngster. Races around the house. Chased Jasper (10+ yrs. old) around the house today. Jasper was not amused.
red, I like not having a job... I hate not having money
LOL Judy, I imagine he wasn't
tom's on disability for rost of year, though his coworkers were donating leave, so we'll see
yes, what nrkii said :)
I always felt like if I didn't have a job I would become very lazy and housebound
What does princess look like? taddy? Calico, gray>>>
princess will grow out of that, much to jasper's pleasure
and Meeko is very jealous . . .
nice coworkers... my coworkers did that for a friend (and coworker) of mine when Katrina hit and he had to go back to Louisiana to help his family
I guess she's a tiger red. I never understand the distinctions.
I think I could find some ways to fill up my time spent at work, that would not involve coughing spitting and hitting people...
Nice.
speedfreak, I used to feel that way... now I wonder how I'll keep getting things done when I have to spend 10+ hours a day working
donating leave .. what a terrific idea!! private sector? (since i don't know how you'd swing that in a govt job)
okay, 34 left... trouble spots are top S and middle column T
I leave the house at 7:30 and if I have no errands to run I can be home by 3:30 so not too bad
private and fed workers can do that here, welki
red, i deal with those folks, too ... and i'm not in health services!
tom's case, private sector
where are you in Mass speedfreak?
welki, we can donate leave in my job (fed. govt)
In many hospital systems its the best thing to do! they take our leave if we don't take it, so if I cant take it I donte it..
wow ... i have never heard of that (donating leave). i wonder if it could fly up here. (any canadians here who've heard of this?)
Welki, awful, at least my people have a reason to be cranky!
I live in Kingston (south shore next to Plymouth) nrkii
clue for the 9 anyone?
that's a lovely area, speed
ah, okay... I grew up on other side of state, in Springfield... went to school for one summer in Milton, and college near Boston

Hello Jean, have not sen you in a bit.
How are you?
I think we may just have been on at diff times RedT
same same
32 left... need list... too hungry to keep fighting this grid
46 for me and its not been fun!
Mkrii, did you decide on a halloween costume?
Nevermind...got them
nope, not yet red
I'm interested...
Good to hear no major upsets Jean.
I was thinking clown, but seems boring... I'd like to get a costume that cracks up the kids and the adults equally
and then I REALLY wanted to put together a costume that would use horn-rimmed classes... dunno why
glasses
go as ugly betty?
Or Hot librarian, but thats not funny to children or I guess appropriate.
I was thinking librarian, but def not hot librarian... parents would not approve
a couple of years ago the whole staff at our school dressed as witches took some of the kids all day to notice we were all wearing the same costumes!!!
funny speed!
I dressed as a goth witch 2 years ago, and my coworkers didn't recognize me
the parents who came for the parade got a good laugh at it
it was a cool costume, but it did scare a couple of the kiddies in the neighborhood
speed! long time no see. how's kingston
Hello, all. One year all the teachers at my school dressed as something having to do with their subject. That was fun. I was a pencil.
last year I dressed up as the witch that people have crashed into their house or garage
oh, nice vicuna!
and hi vicuna and knitter!
had a sling, a bandaid on my nose, a cervical collar, a knee brace
waving
had a sling, a bandaid on my nose, a cervical coolar, a knee brace
Hi KNIT!
lol dr, very funny
Funny, DR!
evening dr
and Vic
hey ankitter we never seem to be on at same time anymore...
You could dress up as a pig and go as the Swine flu, but I think people are still too afraid of that.
must be the different time zones !
lol, redturtle
last year the fourth grade wing all dressed as drs. or nurses, we haven't decided on what we are doing this year.
red, I'm sure someone will dress as that!
ANother year we all were supposed to be the profession we would have liked to be if we couldn't be a teacher.
maybe I could dress as Lily Tomlin's operator character...
lol red i like that
right vi, so who dressed as a stripteaser?
None of my other options looked like much, so I dressed as an explorer, with khakis and pith helmet.
one year we dressed as " Its a small world" - everyone dressed in the garb of a country
oh, that is what our third/fourth grade teachers did last year... explorers. very cute
lol, Dorens. No one. But someone was a cowboy/lawyer combo, which was funny.
explorer would be fun
that sounds like it could be a fun idea vicuna I will have to throw it out to the group tomorrow
Yeah. Explorer has the advantage of being very practical to function in, which was always a big consideration since I taught art.
i'm doing career exploration with 8th graders right now... so funny that everyone thinks that argumentative, pushy people should be lawyers. and truly the most successful lawyers are the opposite... mediators
hmmm what would i have been if not a nurse... my costume choice would be... a sheep? a ball of yarn??
lol, aknitter!
ball of yarn would like to see that one
well i could have chosen hooker but you all would have taken that the wrong way
Just roll yourself in an afghan with a pair of needles stuck in at the top like you're a project in progress.
ball of yarn really could be cute
vi i like that idea
Well you could go as Buddy holly to get in the horn rims
ii will be a hooker!
shifting rooms. be back soon
a crochet hook
somehow I don't see myself pulling off Buddy Holly... :)
I looked up famous wearers of horn rims, there werent a lot.
lol, aknitter. My latest book includes a grandma who crochets bear traps and adventurous stuff like that.
If I need any technical advice, I'll know who to ask.
nrkii, somehow all I can picture is your Little House girl in horn rims.
vi that sounds like a fun read
i have visions of great illustrations to go with that sotry
story even
Hang on a sec...
I could never pull off a Nellie costume... I end up smiling too much on Halloween... even the goth witch was really tough
nellie smiled, but it was like a smirk. a snotty snotty smirk...
down to 9... all Ts
Okay. It's kind of tiny to see any detail, but if you refresh and look at my icon, it's a picture from the story... Grandma Hasenfuss preparing to snare a chraging rhino with technofloss crochet fiber.
*charging
vi where do you live again?
She has knitting needles in a holster on her belt and an extra crochet hook in her hair bun.
nice Vi!
Vi, that is really creative.
Outside Boston, speedfreak.
Where are you?
south shore kingston
out of the other side of boston lol
Oh I didn't realize you were MA, too, aknitter. We're taking over the place tonight! I'm in Needham, specifically.
what town Vi?
SO if you're out the other side, you must be wet! lol
Milton, MA here
there's a lot outside Boston... I lived in Andover, Cambridge, Somerville, Milton
And Holly, too! It's a Mass party!
hey HollyF grew up in Randolph
well, I was only in Milton for one summer of school
is a massachusetts party here
Yeah for MA!
Woohoo, break out the baked beans and cream pie! lol
we should have a mass meeting
my parents are still in Springfield, and my friends are in Reading, Andover, Sudbury, Boston...
can I come to the mass meeting, even though I'm ex-mass?
i dont like either of those vi, how about cranberry sauce and toll house cookies
nrkii once a mass-hole always a mass-hole
uh-oh
I'm not a native Massachusettsian, so I'm just pulling out all the stereotypes.
i'll do the cookies and pie
I suppose I better leave my Yankee-fan-gear at home then
sorry but it is true
But I agree, cranberry sauce and toll house cookies are both better options.
nrkii! wash your mouth out with soap
i make a mean toll house cookie
dryer just stopped need to get clothes out before too wrinkled bbl.....lets try to plan a get together for the Mass group though
I live near the old Baker's Chocolate factory, so I'll bring the chocolate
Yay!
I make toll house but I substitute crushed candy canes for the walnuts... yummmmmmy
by speed happy folding
my mom's recipe, and it's heavenly
chocolate is wonderful
2 to go!
go Nkrii go.
Go, nrkii, go!
woo hoo
Time to tuck in the darling offspring. Back in half an hour for my last 10.

Thanks!
last one is the plural of the ta5.10
Wowee, has anoyone seen any part of the PBS series on the National Parks? well worth it. The section on the Everglades is Awesome, I love the Everglades!
i saw the advertisements for it. Ken Burns produced or directed it, didn't he?
Oh blast. You remind me that my parents asked me to record it for them and I forgot.
I think so, I have seen bits and pieces. Vcuna, they sometimes replay it later in the night, or very early in the AM...
ahhhm, you're in trouble now, vic
Yeah, I'll check the schedule. Thanks.
I saw it one day at like 4 am...
the ta 5, 10? the t's have me by the throat.
the one that sounds like the lone ranger's sidekick?
or the fortune teller's cards?
thanks!
then there's the ta4.4 black sticky stuffs with a vowel at the end
and the plural of the taste...not sweet...
it was the lone ranger dude.
ahh, okay. just thought you might need any of the others.
Hi all!
hi Jilli!
is it cold and nasty up there in BC? weather liars are saying that our next cold front is coming from BC...they are using the S word in the forecast!
its definitely cold for ushere, a nice relief.
lbd -- I just recently realised you have the same real name as a late cousin of mine!
i'm sorry for the loss of your cousin. I hope my name brings fond memories.
Hello all
Hi Scrabs! how's the new/old practice going?
It's a bit chilly here on the coast but nothing like the S word! That must be coming from north-eastern BC (which is probably a gift from Alaska).
Scrabbs Hi!
lbd, my cousin was a lovely red-headed lady who had a very unlucky life. She died many years ago while living with her loving sister.
Old practice = chapter of history. New practice = functional, relaxed, efficient, with polite, competent, funny people!
Hi scrabs!
Hi Scrabbler. So good to hear!
Oh scrabs, isn't that great!
The contrast is stunning. I don't miss the old place at all.
Bugs -- love your icon and story.
that's wonderful, scrabs. a nice new chapter in your life!
Thanks Jilli. I am not always up to date, but I try the way you do.
I am so happy, so grateful, so lucky.
hi everyone! greetings from alberts (where we're waiting for that nasty *S* word too!)
Hi welki
alberts? who's albert? alberta!
hi welki! please feel free to KEEP the S word up there.
I have to soon switch from kayaking mode to crosscountry skiing mode.
you'd be suffering from hypothermia if you were kayaking out here, scrabs.
definitely NOT SKINNY DIPPING
<--- will probably be ice fishing by the end of the year
depends on how El Nino transpires for us, welki
It's about 55F here (12C)
I have kayaked as late as Nov 4th, in 50's air temp.
Skinny dipping is over til next summer
*looks at lb* pretty warm in upstate new york, huh?

Brrrr, Welki.
those temps in Celsius are really cold looking! that's when i really appreciate Farenheit
must go cover my roses and then watch BONES, back in an hour.
I do not like this grid and all I want to do is find 4 more words so I can be at halfway
welki -- are you Calgary or Edmonton?
an8 is against +the little explorer girl. (nickelodeon cartoon)
TY, Dawger!
I have 15 left, consulting morewords along the way.
calgary, jilli
tanks lbd. good clue
must scoot for a while .. later, folks
Woo hoo, I finally noticed some io words and got myself to 114/110. I am done with this grid. Bye everyone. See you tomorrow.
Our first Gt Dane is in the grid -- ti5/10
bye welki!
oh! bye scrabs -- sorry to see you give up!
Thanks for the clue Jilli
Another reason I am glad I read all your icons
found it in the flickrs, bugs?
bugs, your job sounds most rewarding for you and your students and most interesting.
I don't think so. I think you mentioned it once and I thot it was a very appropriate name for a Great Dane
Well, so did we!
I do love my job. I learned from my children who came as foster kids and stayed for life. I knew they learned differently and I figured it was my job as their mother to help them find the way that worked for them. My father was one of the pioneers of research into learning disabilities and I didn't think my kids qualified for years. I just thot they learned differently. Guess what learning disabilities are.... I was so ashamed when the light went on.
Someone asked me once what my passion in life was and I decided it was to empower people so they don't feel as powerless as I did for so many years.
I'd love to hear more about this, bugs. I think we all would.
Why did you feel powerless?
Why did you feel ashamed when the light went on about learning disabilities?
What did the light show you?
(Talk about ashamed! here I am at the end of the line and just found one of my favourite babblets -- the 2-toed sloth, un4/5!
Sorry Jilli I was in the grid.
My father was a wonderful man whom I loved dearly but who worked very hard. It meant we kids were home with an unstable mother most of the time. I never knew if what I was doing was correct and would garner praise, or terrible and would get a pounding. I felt powerless a lot at home.
At school the rules were more clear but I knew I did not think that same way as most people. I did not understand that I was accepted anyway.
I like to help kids recognize that their differences are not unacceptable to others. All kids want to be the same and it would be such a boring world if we all were the same.
ONe day I would love to meet you in person and hear more of your story. I am fascinated by all the places you have been and how much you learned from your father too.
Let's do that, bugs. You have my email address at the bottom of my bio.
When I was in high school I wrote a verse:
O, be not what you are not, For you'll be not what you are, And to be yourself and [I forget] Is worthier, by far.
Oh dear, I've forgotten --will have to look it up!
I am laughing out loud jilli. Please find it for me. When I was a kid there was a cartoon about a turtle who always wanted to be some famous person in history but things never worked out for him.
His name was Tudor and his mentor would tell him at the end of every episode, "Be what you is Tudor, not what you is not. Folks what they is, is the happiest lot."
I found it -- in my high school yearbook for April, 1942 -- the missing word was "natural". There was another verse: Oh copy not another, For what a world 'twould be, If one were like the other As leaves are on a tree. And of course some spoilsport had to point out that leaves on trees are not all alike.
I love it. I will copy it out with all the other neat stuff I find out from other Babblers.
Well, thank you!
If you do the math, I was 15.
hi guys.. back for my missing three...anyone have the first ta.. the ta 6/18?
Oh no -- 14 -- it was published in April and I wasn't 15 until May.
hello babblers

Fireworks Jilli?
hello friends. Saw my dad tonight. We held his hands, kissed his head, talk to him. I think he knew we were there. I really did. He even sort of opened his eyes a little and kind of looked at us. he knew, really, he did!
oh, trif, that is so wonderful
an8 clue please, and ru - don't do that, your face may stay that way :)
SPARKLIES!!!
they know tri.. they know.
congrats, jilli!!
it felt really good. I am so glad we went.
Of course he did Trif! He can hear you too, long after the rest of his body is beyond his control
Oh trif, that's wonderful!
YEAHHHHHH JILLI!!!
he is not overbreathing his vent, which is not so good, but they will see how he gets through the night and reassess in the morning.
i don't think we can ever know for sure so talking and touching - touch can be felt long after the senses fail
well done Jilli
an 8 TO is against aunt **** (isa**** duncan)
*deep curstey of gratitude to cheerers and helpers*
ty
oo, ruru -- how lovely -- you remembered my reference!
how is ms. nadal today?
an5/12 pls?
to void a marriage TO?
Found out how to contact you Jilli and I will let you know when I am planning to come down island again so we can plan a visit
ty ru.
great, bugs!
an 5.. you just get married to a smuck.. and you decide to an5 it
Now I must go and rescue supper -- back later to clue
how do you rescue it?
search dogs?
and now for something completely different - it is accurate that if you don't complete a grid, you somehow get punished for that in the rankings? Not "punished" I guess, but it is somehow worse to not finish than not start at all?
yw TO.. want to word rampage?
oh hell look at these 1rwordds - 8 sand 7s
yes it is trif. ru i would normally say yes but need 75 more words and am failing...long drive home today and have not stopped since 6AM
I think you only lose 1 point if you don't play.. it is worse to st5 and not finish.. i thinkTri
bye scrabs
scrabs?
je when did you pop in? *tosses newly coiffed head*
sorry my chog was stuck at 8 pm
looks nice TO
just now -- needed a giggle so came to the chog
ty, ty...she talked me out of being a blinde
it's probably for the best think how much work it would be to maintain
does anyone have the e from the bottom row?
(takes away TO's Guide Dog)
yes TO - do you want a nudge?
LO i am so beat....
(i think she meant blonde)
i want a margarita and a date but a nudeg will do
I would have to care about the scores to decide not to st5
I hate it that it is worse to play than to skip it.
salt on the rim?
hi everyone! how's it going?
absolutely. on the rocks tho pls
and people think I'm competitive when I race pini!
fine LBD..
TO was blind..then blonde.. and now she can see..
hi lbd want a maraghita? I am making one for TO
A miracle!
amazing grace ru
no thank you, jmc. never been much for tequilla
and tequila
wow, that is a miracle!
*hands TO a sparkling green glass*
(makes jello shots for LBD)
thanks ru.
je last night the 2Xtree had a reception to lure us to their property. if it were not so far away i would have asked you. lovely buffet and fre booze
it is not a margarhita with out tequila no matter what they tell you
(sets out table for her to dance on later)
2xtree?
probably too far for me to drive home after free booze
wouldn't that be a bi-tree?
open bar. actually they were still serving our groop when I left at 10
a tree that swings both ways?
LOL i did not think of that! my lushy coworlder actually WALKED there
besides I am probably not who they were trying to lure tho TO ;-)
BUT i have 4 cookies here that i will freeze
hello 71 to go
i osrt of looked like my icon this morning
hi harp
a "what the fig tree"???
160 and no intent to finish
TO are you drinking now? or just tired
hi Harp
if that was the case it was good that you got your hair done TO
I'm drinking!
ooh love the doubletree cookies!
tired ru. drove 160 miles after that little drinking extravaganza last night
I'm out of booze and money so will just dream
whatcha drinking, harp?
TO! I trust you didn't drink much
je i had the most wonderful experience at the ram's head on tuesday
pale ale from Bitterroot Brewery, it's 3 days old now but it's my duty to make sure it does not get wasted
well i did get 5 hours of sleep
yes TO?
I appreciate your sense of sacrifice harp that is what makes this country great
must keep tasting it to make sure it's still good, harp
wish a had a drink about now... a mike's lemonade would go down a treat right about now....
brb washer stopped and i smell burned pizza
mmmmm jack
you're warming your pizza in the washer?
TO, how many times have we told you - Pizza goes in the oven, NOT the washer!
makes you wonder what's in the oven
well the pizza probably broke the washer any way
oh I got my free pizza tonight from last weeks pizza debacle
soggy boiled pizza...gah
was it the right kind of pizza, jmc?
yes it was but when I called I asked for the manager
smart thinking, jmc
and she said "what is your phone number and what did I promsie you?" like she had forgotten it all
then she said 1/2 off, right?
could someone clue the ra6/7 words?
and I said No. Free.
ra + fork points
Makes one wonder - perhaps the place is so bad she has actually lost track of how many people she has had to promise free pizza to, to make up for the lousy service they provide....
ra + not loose
thanks
that is a shame because they have the best pizza in town and have been around for 30+ years
but, yes, I came to the same conclusion
maybe it's just because of the economy, can't be giving away the profits
the last two drivers had a hard time finding my house which is really weird in DC since it is laid out on an alphabetical grid
stopped atgrotto pizza in DE- anyone know that chain?
or maybe she had second thoughts about free pizza, and decided mistakes would be half off instead.
don't know -- rarely eat pizza when I am away from home
not here in my neck of the woods, TO
I did think maybe she was hoping I would be too shy to insist on the free if she offered 1/2 off
she underestimated how broke I am
aw je
:-)
not the first time and wont be the last TO don't worry about it
jmc, is that the logo from your company?
need to hit up some philanthropists, jmc
i remember having to eat kraft mac & cheese being so broke
yes trif the icon is dream job
I am working on it lbd -- having lunch with a trust baby tomorrow
it's very well done!
mmmmm cheese
ty I designed part of it!
i was thinking more on the lines of Bill and Melinda Gates
stop that je now i will have to go heat the rest of the pie. already ate half
lol I would if I could get ahold of them
I used to design company identity systems, in another life....
is the trust baby single?
in5/6pls?ty
i know a single trust baby. never worked a day in his life.
in + *** the table
to - something put in the body of another
the best I have done so far is that Michael Moore linked his Fahrenheit 911 to my web page without me asking
trust baby is married
and you haven't introduced me TO?
ty pass the anchoveis *toddles off to put the rest of the pie in the oven*
oooof, jmc - why couldn't it have been george clooney instead? LOL
ooo I would marry george clooney in a heart beat
je: i try to avoid him at all cost
its good that the pizza is moving to the oven from the washer
i mean there's not enough$ to counteract that weirdness
would he like to give me money?
well it would make the dryer a mess
trust me you haven't seen weird until you hang out with QUakers
wow, Torgone must be thrilled....there have been boobies in the grid every day, it seems
did i get a clue for that E?
where is Torg? haven't seen him
oh je, trust ME: i think i may
the thing about taking my son to the annual meeting of quakes from around the country is that he realized that on the whole I wasn't all that weird
lol, jmc
i can fund you, je. i have a huge repuatation for philanthropy. Just got three more requests int hemai today. guess the word is out. :/
look I didn't name him Sunshine
i'm sure he's pleased you didn't too!
I don't talk to stuffed animals (at least not in public)
i mean i cannot BELEIVE it i have NEVER seen that much mail inmy life. i am go ing to change religions just to avoid it
I wear jeans and t-shirts and not drapery
OOOH! i found the pain in the ear. come to think of it this grid is a pain. add an r in front of that ea3
TO - the lone e is an en6....
dins
I wish I knew what that word was!
ty TO
en6= not beginning + dark is the n***
en + Bumstead's boss: mr ***h*rs
oh heck
hi BR! *waves*
did you catch the game last night? the nationals?
ty. got to go
did you see the grand slam?
hi, jmc
bye TO hb
yeah, the Nationals are tearing up the league
HI BR!! bye TO
lol too late too late
Hello, lbd
hello
BR
but that was a great game to end on in DC
Hello, Trifioso
do the roses have covers tonight, lbd?
decided that the roses should be okay tonight. it didn't get that warm today, but it's not going to get that cold either.
Got way up into the fifties here today
I moved the last of the logs away from the house today! I still can't believe I got it all done. I SO rule!
Good for you, Trif
wtg trif
di5/22?
di + *** and the art of motorcycle maintenance
like the dirty 12, but switch out the first vowel
thanks
z zipped
Good observations again tonight BR. Reminds me of Blake's The Poison Tree
my grandmother's last words to us ever time we left were "be careful"
I read your comments earlier, Bugsaw, and greatly admire what you do and have done for children.
I asked her why and she said that maybe if something happened the words would have reminded us to be careful enough to be okay
Good for your grandmother, jmc
Thanks BR. I was hoping no one else was reading it but I kinew it couldn't be true
I see bugs that you are at your dream job too! how nice
I usually say it to my son now
I wish it hadn't taken so long to get here jmc but often, the best jobs don't pay enough to stay alive
lol tell me about it bugs! you are preaching to the choir!
in5?
Don't I know it. I am just glad some of us could finally get to where we needed to be
in5= parquet or mother of pearl designs
evening. back for my last 102 :)

Hi BR
Hill Street Blues!
17 to go
i liked that about hill street blues and hate it when he died and the new guy would say get them before they get you
Hello
welp, time for me to find my pillows. see you all tomorrow, good luck with the grid!
go Harp! *poof*
hi, BR, jmc, harp, dawg, Dr.
good night, lbd, be well
g'night dawg
night lbd
How are you doing, dc?
and how is Tom DC.
Didn't he have surgery last week?
i'm well, BR, thank you. Glad to be home after the 11 days away. Tom's recovering nicely, Bugsaw, thank you for asking.
good for both of you
glad to hear it. The wait can often be the worst part
the day before his surgery my father's father died, so i was conveniently already in town for the funeral on monday.
help with the st8 and 9
mr laurel and not day, then plural
ty dc
Hi all -- I'm baaack after dinner :)
sorry about your grandfather
ty DC
hi jill
hi, jilli :)
sorry about your grandfather, DC....
I can clue but probably too slowly, lol!
ty, trifioso. It was a blessing. He passed less than a week after a massive stroke, and before the dementia set in fully.
oh I am sorry DC
why slowly jill -- been nipping at the bottle?
so, though he'll be missed, it was for the best.
what a sad reason to be on hand, dc!
considering my mother i would say that was a blessing dc
yes, but my stress about the surgery was all focused on the surgery, yes a sad reason, but i was past my stress point on that, at least.
done
jmc, I'm always slower than babrab and others to come up with the mot juste
the cats and the rabbit are happy to be home, too
congrats, harp
YAY harp!!!
well done harp
me I look for clues and not mot juste!
whoo hoo harp
mot juste = right word
i.e, right for for clueing
but clues are not always the right word some times they are just clues
Looking at the icons, it's great that so many babblers already have their dream jobs! Wow! It was never my dream to end up as a 50s housewife, scorned by all.
I believe the politically correct term is stay at home mom
;-)
not then, jmc
as I recall my mother was scorned for working in the 50s rather than staying at home with the 5 kids
Joan Cleaver was the ideal
my grandma always wanted to be a hausfrau, and that she was.
vacuuming in heels and pearls
women couldn't win then. Who looked after the 5 kids? I had no backup system.
I am falling asleep....good night my dear friends
Nite Trif. Sleep well
rest well, trifioso
bye Trif
when i graduated from HS I was one of about 5 women who went to college -- the rest were married within 2 years
take care
Some love being hausfraus. Now there's a choice.
Night trif :)
the grad class was 300
you know you should be what you want to be
bye trif!
my grandmother took care of us until I was a 3rd grader and then we took care of ourselves -- no longer legal
Oh, I was a B.Sc when I got married. My m-i-l asked what was the point of all that education.
I loved being able to home with my kids but felt it was an honour to not be forced to work. When the marriage ended I worked but the youngest was in Grade 1 by then. It is all relative
I was a lawyer when I got married and took two weeks off when my son was born
Nuff sed.
I brought him to the office
THe early years are the most important bugs..
he went to day care when he was 2 1/2
I was a latchkey kid myself..
my sister in law told me he would be insecure because of it
se 6/21 ? tia
I am glad because if this kid was any less insecure he would be hard to take
I'm a different generation from youse guys, lol!
I glad there is a more of a choice now --
so ruru, do you feel warped because you were a latch key kid? Jilli would have been stoned for that
...hmmm .. not so sure.. I feel that I kind of warped out on my own..
lol
se6 is like a open shoe on the foot
ty DC
ty dc
I didn't intend to get preggers so soon after marriage, but we didn't have The Pill then . . .
JMC, have you seen Capital Losses? It's a book of destroyed DC buildings by the Smithsonian Press
I got fired from my job at the hospital because I was preggers.
I am kind of glad I didn't contribute to population growth...
I am sorry but I cannot believe it takes lu 4/8 as a word!
omg.. that is soooo illegal here jilli
it's shameful that that was legal back then, jilli
no I haven't -- bound to have rhodes tavern in it
why not lovie?
ty, for lu word jmc. ANd yes, Rhodes Tavern is in it.
That was 1947
oh.. jeez
JIlli, my mother probably would not have been so unstable if she had been allowed to pursue her chosen career but the times did not allow it then. She was married in 1943
my very good friend Weibenson spent years fighting to save it
have to make dinner.. be back at the flip you guys.. have fun...
bye ru
hasta, ruru
well I have a scratchy throat so I think I am hitting the hay early
96 left
g'night jmc, sweet dreams.
tell pini hi if she comes later
be well, jmc
bye all *poof*
bye ruru, jmc -- take care!
bugs, it was a pretty bad time for women. There was a magazine called McCall's, and they ran a cartoon "The Watchbird is Watching You!" preaching "proper" behaviour for housewives. Ugh!
di8 help please
Also, in the 50s, when the Korean War was on, telling us that we should cater well to our husbands, or they would be stolen by the submissive Asian women.
oy gevalt to that, jili
di8 -- di + narrow
ty Jilli- got it
yw :)
ty for that, jilli
yw 2 :)
My mother got McCalls because I remember how she saved the cutout dolls for if we got sick and had to stay in bed.
I never knew it probably drove her crazy with its preaching before now.
is there one hour left on the game
McCall's and The Ladies' Home Journal were the big deals then.
yes
hi sweetheart!
how many games in a day and how long are they, thamks
not 1 1/2?
one game a day, starting at midnight grid time
hi
evening all - please tell me what has changed?
one game lasts 24 hours
90 min left, that is correct, bugs
ok
why so long
what has changed, hoot? goodevening.
the game changes at midnight Central US time
evening all...it's Putt Putt Pini signing in this evening :)
grids aren't always easy, and we can't always finish them in one sitting.
hi hoot :)
i used to play tangleword
Hi pini :)
hi, pini. :) JMC says hello, though she's gone to bed.
several ex-tanglers here, sweet
we have a number of tanglers who play here
* ack * I missed her? Did she finish?
hello, Pini
I remember when I was married I always had a full time job. My mother told me I wasn't working til I got home. This was the 70's
hi jilli ;)
hi jilli
hi BR :)
no, she had scratchy throat so turned in with - 96 was it - left.
Hi joiners and lurkers
oh no...I hope she feels better soon!!!
When I told her I was getting a divorce she wanted to know why i "didn'y try to make some kind of arrangement!"
I have another 105 to go tonight...thus the Putt Putt :/
If anyone wants to know, the next icon theme is A Word From The Grid (which will be a clue)
When I worked for Sears I was told I didn't need a decent salary or raises because I was only going to get married and have kids. They STILL belive this...witness recent law suits
rant over
hoot, even my dear hubby used to say that about the inusrance biz he was in.
I amke more than my hubby
* make
it was a cement ceiling in those days
thank goodness times have chaged in some places at least!
my aunt and my sister each provide most of the support for their families.
that's what burns me about this abortion mess. The men will do and say anything to keep us in our place.
My d-i-l supports her family. My son is a "starving" artist.
sing it, hoot!
And I'll bet, in both cases, someone thinks they are "abovethemselves
hehehe
I've changed jobs once in the past 6 years (because I was laid off) and it took that long to make the same salary I was making at my previous job :(
He helps and supports in many other ways.
"
(so today I'm now back up to what I was making 6 years ago)
that sucks, pini
...and the profs at school think if they don't get their reimbursement promptly, their children will go hungry (and they make 4x my salary)
As far as I'm concerned everyone can do whatever they dam well please as long as they don't insist on ME trying it too. It's none of anyones dam busuness what I do or don't do

a kid'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you?
right, hoot, though you might want to type oa4
nah too late to bother and I don't do chocolate
hey, you're on the internet -- you can find almost every lyric ever written!! (google : lyrics : "name of song")
does anyone know the name of that song to google it?
another diff between then & now - it took me 40 yrs to find out the lyrics were real words!
mairsy doats
that's not the name, is it?
mairzy doats, methinks. (google will help you if your spelling is close)
Mairsy Do5 is the name, i think
ACK oops
Mairzy Do5 actually is the name
and find out who sang it too
you can use google to find lyrics even if you just typoe part of the lyric. don't need to know the exact title.
try "little lambs eat ivy" and pout it in quotes to force phrase search
http://tinyurl.com/27y6h3 is the wiki article about the song. it dates from 1943
