Granny, no thank goodness, although I do often have to go through reports/paperwork at weekends I have taken a day's leave .
even better, elder.pity you have to use your leave like that though.
Granny that's how it is. used to it after all these years. I do take off weeks at times but it is nice to take day off at the end of the week , longer weekend.
or are you one of those fortunates who don't seem to need leave as much as others? i seem to always be in need of breaks, if you'll pardon the pun.
Oh, no, if it were possible I would take leave every second week :)
when i started my current position, we opted for 3 x 10 shifts and 1 x 8 hour, gives us an extra day off each week.

I was born in 42 and hose were sold (though we were calling them stockings mostly) by de6 - my mother had a pair of 24 de6 that floated on your hand, even though they were silk (which usually had a lot of weight).
Me too. We weren't allowed thin ones (not practical, and probably considered too sexy). We had quite a craze for thick ribbed ones - must have been about 60 de6!

How did your research go yesterday HAz?
Not as well as I had hoped, unfortunately.
Some of the church records on microfilm are just about impossible to read.
Oh shame, but that is the way it goes sometimes.
A combination of spidery writing and poor original condition had me squinting.
Are you geting to the point where records are just not available and you will have to go visit the localparishes etc? Thats where I am at.
I did manage to get some birth dates confirmed but that was about the height of it. Some of the church records are in local custody so it may involve a bit of travelling.
mm, my journey will take me to Lancashire at some point to see the grave stones and read the not on line records.
Fingers crossed that the gravestone is still legible!
It's really frustrating that there are so few official records, thanks to various fires and government instructions to destroy census records.
I'm not convinced that I'll get much further back in time, but it's been interesting to read up on the local history of some of the places.
