du9

yvw !
oops...sorry, I see it was called...my bad

ooooh, te9 comes off the te6 but means something else... follows the same ending as the du9
krew is a word in American English - it relates to Mardi Gras.

nite, freep

puzzling over the te 9, or even the te 6, for that matter! :P
i found a te6, but seemingly not the right one
pr 8 and re 7 if not called
rbud, the te9 means thin, lack of substance but plural
also tw 8 if not called
re 7 x 3 I think rb called nan
nan, that tw8 was the first thing I saw, and it led to the other biggies
don't see your te 6-9 though
tx for the pr8, nan
te6 sounds like a child's name for a camping canvas dwelling
te8 comes off that une and hi :)
hey, mrp :-)
ty une
yw ;-)
NBT and 100 to go -- nite, all *poof*
now for the te 9
bye une :)

it is not the really dangerous kind it is the kind that looks like scar tissue but really does not heal, when I took the lady I take of to the dr to have a mole looked at the dermatologist saw the place on my arm and told me to get it taken care of ASAP that is was a type of skin cancer
mel, i'm sure it will go well, and may it not recur
oh my...not the kind of thing you want to hear...
wow meli...what a lucky stroke!
oh, my, that was a lucky thing for you that that dr saw it
...but, then again, good because you can get it taken care of!
yes from all I have read if you take care of it right away it will rarely spread, and it has only been there a short time, I think since spring? so 4-5 months is all
my dad have several skin cancers removed over the years and none of them returned :) big hug mel

No, no, no, no (Was it brown?) No, no, no, no (Was it blue?) No, no, no, no Just a little yellow basket

This was the Ella Fitzgeral version. I remember hearing it on the radio in Shanghai and I learned it and used to sing it in an American accent (I was 100% Brit then). I was often asked to entertain my mother's tea guests with it.
i went out and filled the car with fuel, went to the doctors, and brought in 2 baskets ( white, not yellow ) of washing from the line.it nearly killed me, but I DID IT!!!

Pen a message again, Norma.
And good morning/evening all.
Hi Haz, Norma and all
Thanks Haz .... hi to all
Hello lynxxx.
You're welcome, Norma.
*flop*
Hello, floppy.
welcome Ata
hobbit: *flops too*
Spangle has been flopped for a while. What's Stew doing?
He's scrunched up on the rug on the couch (heaven!)
awwwww
much lazy arranging of paws going on here
The canines are happy!
And how are the sensible grown-ups? And you, Ata, how are you?
is that implying that I'm not sensible? *gasp*
Just seeing how alert you are.
very, as always :P
hmmm, sensible people jump of planes?
You're alert.
LOL Good point lynxxx! and Hello Ladies :)
Good morning, FM!
and Haz
hi FM!
It's a tad autumnal here this morning, garden covered in leaves but at least there was no frost.
was bloody cold at the beach
Yes, really windy here last night and now the rain has started.
I bet!! I't seemed the whole of NI was under 1 huge rain cloud on the forecast this morning Haz.
the whole of NI is one huge bog
We've had a dry spell for so long that we were bound to get our comeuppance eventually.
(Note to sensible others, Ata is researching about bogs in Northern Ireland)
Ahhh
I'm supposed to know all about it because I live here.
I'm just going to have to be quick off the Google mark to sound knowledgable.
what are you looking for in the bogs Ata?
you mean you don't? I thought you knew everything?
um, not quite sure yet. have to do an assignment about different types of bog
It's all a facade, FM. If you keep quiet about things you don't know about, and pop in a few words of wisdom about those you do - you're an oracle.
hello babblers
And if you can get to Google quickly, so much the better.
loooool
Good evening, gortmold.
LOL I;ll have to remember that! Hi gort
i heard whispers of someone ferreting about in a bog and it piqued my interest
hi Gort! you are not near those fires are you? (you are in Qld aren't you?)
i am in qld, but about 10 hours drive south of rocky (it's a BIG state), but some of my rocky students are being smoked out
I've been learning about Irish hares
The fires were featured on the news here.
it's a crazy country - wild fires up north and down here, in the same state, wearing winterweight jamies
Franticaly googling Irish hare...
lmao :)
really haz? i must get up to speed; usually don't watch the news cos it gets me down
be right back - watching news
Yes, British news tends to feature news from all over the world. We're so small, we might as well see what's happening elsewhere.
Doorbell, brb.
there are Bog Otters too
FM's googling Irish hare as well, the doorbell's a blind.
really!?
Ah yes, madre uisce in the Irish.
ah yes, of course
Or dobharchu in some areas.
I knew that
Have you found any evidence of the Lough Neagh monster, Ata?
lol
it stays under the bog
Google does confirm that bog spelled backwards is gob
And sends the otters up to get the groceries.
as in shut yer gob? hi BabRab
Babble interuppted by the Gas man to read the meter.
Pronounced in Ulster as gub.
The Gas man cometh!
and of course bog is slang for a toilet.
all right i'm back from the news, contradictory as it is about whether it's contained or not
the big news of the day is that america has legalised medicinal marijuana for such maladies as nausea and acne!
a new angle for Ata perhaps - investigating Irish toilets
Let's hope it has been, gort.
i dare say a lot of people will feel better about acne once they're on grass
of course, the good people at proactiv will be disappointed
I'm wondering about the nausea angle - I take it expectant mothers with morning sickness will be warned off?
I used to think that morning sickness was an old wives' tale to get sympathy. I was wrong...
That just seems such a randon choice of ailments.
i think the wives' tale is the morning part - in my experience, it was morning, afternoon, evening and just for laughs, middle of the night sickness
Agreed, it's not confined to mornings at all.
anyhoo, that's all behind me and the joys of hysterectomies lie before me
Mourning sickness has no schedule, either.
'Womb for improvement'
lol haz, right on
I must be off for a while have some work to print off before I head out. Hope to catch up a bit later on today. Happy Babbling.
toodle pip, fmi
hurray for not having children!
bye FM
I think the Victorians had a strict schedule for public mourning with black being adopted for different lengths of time depending on who had died. I don't know if that had any relevance on how people felt.
Bye FM!
probably made them annoyed with wearing black
i reckon it gave them a 3-year blessed reprieve to not be themselves
Purple and white were mourning colours as well.
seems a bit festive, eh what?
Yes, but black was probably easier to keep clean.
how would you mourn if you had your way haz?
In terms of public drawing attention to your loss?
with cooking sherry
lol ata
I don't think there are any rules for public mourning of a loved one, although I did try to keep as dignified as possible when my parents died - not easy as they both died very suddenly. I have major problems with public mourning when people didn't know the people who had died, except in a newsworthy sense, and yet they feel the need to lay flowers and say 'look at me, how I'm suffering'.
what helped you grieve, haz?
Time.
I can't imagine you being anything but dignified!
BBL
I've seen me undignified but I try not to do it in public!
sometimes it's good just to throw a mad tantrum though!
After my father died, my mother was heartbroken, but I remember her saying that she was not going to be the sort of widow that people would cross the street to avoid.
interrupting the deepness for a mo with an inane request for a clue for ke5/18 pls
i've got a plural
did she succeed haz?
I think there is a period of time when adrenalin carries you through, but there is a trough afterwards that only you can go through. But I do think you have to make an active decision to come out of the trough.
thanks ata
She did, gort. She continued to gather friends about her and be a delight to chat with.
good for her
She had known a lady who hadn't much time for her husband when he was alive but who turned into a saint upon death and who was the subject of every conversation she had from then on. People started avoiding her - that was the impetus for my mother not to do the same.
Death is quite permanent. It is later than you think.
yeah, that does tend to happen, doesn't it - sanctifying the deceased
sounds like D's mother - she's more than a saint now. Her spirit lives on in my car
It does and it is mystifying.
do you mean there's an awful rattle ata?
apparently I offend her spirit if I leave rubbish in the car
And what if you started smoking marijuana in the car?
I have *no* idea. It's all a complete mystery to me
oh, i thought you were being funny, but someone believes their spirit really is in your car?
Would she be offended or rendered so mellow that she wouldn't care?
husband seems to think that his mother is in spirit in my car. I think. Something like that!
I couldn't make up the stuff husband comes out with!
one too many episodes of Ghost Whisperer perhaps?
his latest is looking over my shoudler to check I use soap when washing my hands!
Hi and Ata tell him to fk off
has he been taking...erm...how can i put this...recently legalised medicinal agricultural products?
That's what bathroom locks are for.
lol and hello herin
news headline from the BBC: "'Rampaging' ostrich killed on M56"
gotta go and read kiddies stories; night all
Bye gortmold, hello herin.
Ostrich killed by vehicles or police marksman?
See Ata things like that inspire me to make snide remarks about what i did to food
Be well, gortmold
Hi too.
One of two ostriches that went on the rampage after escaping from a farm in Cheshire has been killed on a motorway. The 4ft (1.2m) tall birds, described as aggressive, went on the run in Helsby, near Frodsham, after getting free. One of the pair died when it strayed on to the M56 and was struck by a lorry. The driver, from Wrexham, was not injured but the vehicle was damaged. Officers recaptured the other ostrich in a field just after 1430 BST and it has been returned to its owner.
That lorry drive will have fun writing up his insurance claim.
'As I was proceeding down the M56, an ostrich committed suicide in front of my lorry.'
Gosh hitting a chicken = poof of feathers. Thatof an ostrich big pooof.
By the way the chicken in this case walked away
Not just a theoretical chicken.
am very interested in how a rampaging ostrich can be told from a confused ostrich or cross ostrich etc
No. My b.f was riding a motor bike on a farm and a chicken walked in front of the bike. The chicken was unhurt but big flurry of feathers.
Maybe the ostrich was protecting its mate
Rampaging sounds more dramatic.
Back shortly.
it certainly does
Bye Haz.
We have a car insurance advert that has rampaging swans
goodness!
we just get meerkats
annoying meerkats
meerkats?
google "compare the meerkat"
but meerkats are cute
they are. these ones aren't
but their little furry faces are so cute
not when you see the annoying cartoon creature every ad break with their equally annoying music
I do not understand the relationship between meerkats and insurance
join the club lol
See the swan advert has relativity. They damage the car and then the person has to tell the company
I really should go to bed.
lol
I am so tired and pissy
awww. go cuddle the kitties
They are bitty
opps bitey
awww. monsters
Yep. I have just passed two of my major tests big opps. Think i really may just go flop in 20 min
go you!
yah I got Green and black Butterscotch chocolate go me
Ata its not a go you thing trust me.
mmmmm that stuff is yummy
Good I need it
The peppermint is awesome
ohhhhh yes
I love all their chocolate
It was on special. i have two types of chocolate. the kind you stuff in yuor face or the kind that you eat just a little bit off
mmmmm
You get what I mean?
oh yes
Good. i am researching a band that I have not heard of that is comming out and I am curious as to what they are like
ok, I gotta go learn about bogs. go to sleep soon!
Ata you know the G and B Range of chocolate?
yep
I figure I would like to try them all
as you should
Would it be very obsesive if i collected the wrappers?
nope!!
Ok you go read about bogs
go forth and collect :D
I will if i have the money. i seem to have eaten half a block tonight :(
you can get baby bars!
Well that is no fun
Good morning/day everyone!
hi scrabs! bye all!
hi scrabler
*sitting here in catatonic state, trying to gain full consciousness*
good morning, and hi scrabs - isn't that "bunny-tonic"?
Haha, yes, a far more appropriate word. Bunny Miss Bea is sitting behind me, probably wondering why Mama is staring at the monitor with mouth hanging open. I just awoke with a migraine so I am really out of it. I am hoping caffeine + naproxen work quickly
oh, sorry to hear it - hope it goes away soon
I couldn't fall asleep--local kid, friend of my middle nephew, hung himself and died Sunday. Just 18, a beloved, bright kid who just started college.
oh how terrible! that is a tragedy for all - even for those who did not know him
Oh Scrabbler that is terrible. I really feel for the family.
Such pain and sadness. I recall giving him a ride home from the HS a few years ago and even then thinking "This kid seems so sad." So many "what ifs"
i went through it with a friend of mine in college - her boyfriend committed suicide - I'll never forget that funeral - - the family and friends live with that forever
The service is today and most of the only recently graduated class will be in town for this---these poor kids are too young to deal with this.
and i'm sure they will be offering counseling at the HS - too sadly, they actually have a protocol for it now
And his dorm mates had a counseling session yesterday--Facebook pages revealed a lot of info, mostly about how admired + beloved he was
Sorry to make you sad, but I need to vent.
no, this is big, scrabbler, we understand
I am focusing now on spending the afternoon with Mary's kids--this is the highlight of every week.
that's nice - is it just you and the kids ?
hello everyone
sorry to hear of this sad news scrabbler
The nanny is there and usually she helps the 3rd grader with homework (90 minutes' worth from a private school!) and I play with the youngest. Then we all play, have dinner, do bathtime and I head home, telling Mary in heaven how much I love her kids.
Hi jacq. Yes, a tough one.
I hope you have a good day, scrabs - wishing you all the best - have to go now, will check in later
Bye JBV--so nice to see you!
Does anyone like this grid? I am not feeling any attraction yet.
i have been here for about ten minutes and already i want to disown it and it's offspring
i didn't want to interrupt the chog to say a trite hello
awww scrabbler
i am glad it's not just me, jacq
i am up to 66 somehow
Stick with it (the grid, I mean), I eventually found it to be absorbing.
Hi Jaq
heya lady
pristine
ohh poop
sorry
TY so much, jacq!
i am sorry
GM Hazel. Your name came up a lot during our Babble mtg Saturday night. My sister joined us and we were trying to explain Babble, words + Babblers to her. Still none of it interests her but she enjoyed the mtg--great food, friends + Scrabble game.
I'd love to have been there!
I saw the photos on nrkii's and Dorens' profiles.
Now you know what I look like.
I know! I hadn't pictured you with glasses for some reason, but I had conjured up the right sort of hair.
Night all
I'd seen pictures of the others except for JBV. It's interesting to put faces to names.
Goodnight, herin.
hugs. I give up and must have a lookie at the pics
Scrabbler, had you met everyone before?
I had met no one before. Yes, I have worn glasses since I was about 13. I tried contact lenses and my eyes didn't tolerate them.
good morning everyone;)
Hi Crossy!
Good morning Babblers :)
Good morning to Nono and Crosshair!
my description of this grid is also a phantom...... stink
Honestly, it starts slowly but you'll be pleasantly surprised at the number of normal words in there.
Optimism is my middle name today.
you are ever the optimist Haz
I know! It's just that I felt the same way about it at first, couldn't see very many words but stuck with it and was glad I did.
Needless to say I used resources when my known words ran out.
i too have resorted to resources but it still stinks
GM Nono
crossy is working on his very first blog, just made it yesterdeay but you can see pics of the mrs and i and where we live;) http://crosshairswolf.blogspot.com/
my "name" (that wesley calls me...) is in the grid!
just right click to enlarge pics
left that is
Hello hurshy!
hello haz!
good morning everyone
You enjoyed your recent trip to Cornwall?
howdy eva;)
i did!!!
Hello to Eva and Merp - are you feeling a bit better, Eva?
crossy, you live ina beautiful part of the world
Did your heart leap when you realised where you were going?
hi Scrabs sorry didnt mean to ignore you, was looking at Crossy's pics
Crossy that stream reminds me a lot of where I grew up
of course im showing you the best bits when we are wearing our fall colours;0
Thanks for asking Haz. First night without nose drops! Feels like a real accomplishment. I'm thinking that if I paint all the doors bright blue, wear garlands of garlic around my neck and sacrifice some chickens maybe the evil virus gods will move to somewhere else.
smiles, i live between the hills and the sea, i love allnatures colours and hues
Glad to hear that there's improvement, Eva.
Here it's looking like it might snow.
i don't have a leaping kind of heart - but i was very pleased!
How are things in your world HAz?
it feels like it might snow here but can't smell it yet
114 left and time for a coffee and ciggie break
The weather is drippy, but otherwise life is good.
We had 3 inches the week before last, but it's gone now.
is the te 9 a compound?
no eva
thanks
No, it kind of follows on from te6/21 - ends in gentleman's neckwear.
time to get hubby up and get breakfast, be back later
I must brave the drippy weather to post a letter and walk Spangle. Happy babbling!
time to go oldest is here with her daughter
tc haz
found 3 more pics from our walkabout http://crosshairswolf.blogspot.com/
lol like someone boring you with endless slides from thier trip to go see the worlds biggest ball of yarn;)
I must shower and get to work--bye folks. enjoy the day!
tc scrabbs
tc jacq
hmmm....don't have the te6/21 to build on....any hints?
got it!!! and the 9.
i have one that sounds like a just-barely-holding-on connection...
that's the one hursh
and i'm sposed to add neckwear to that??
oh, i see, change the, and pl, ok
sort pf like insurance policies isn't it
what's the other 9 start with?
du and I just found it
thanks, me too!
it's much easier that the te
i figured it might have same ending and once you said du it was a snap
I'm not finding this grid easy. The first 200 were okay, but now.....
yeah, 31 to go here and probably will need the list at some point.
sorry-I meant the first 140 were okay
I still have 99 left
lol
well, you can get 60 more without too much trouble
I could, perhaps, if I were you(-:
sure..words just throw themselves at you..down to 30 no problem...yea..right.. lol
you wouldn't want to be me, though. persistent headache, blech.
still might be a workable trade. But not a winning one for you. Anyway, so far as I know that technology hasn't been worked out yet so I think we have to be ourselves for the duration.
phantom: petulant
do you get migraines?
i don't *think* so
that's good.
okay. Think I'm going to give up for a while and do something productive with my life.
i do have three nice cats
well that makes up for a lot! I don't think one can ever have enough cats. Wish Merp felt the same way
hehe. well, have fun being productive.

Good afternoon, folks! Fun grid today?
Hi, Takuma, hello all
Takuma, your name always makes me smile
Glad to hear that, peri! why so?
You're a fan of mediocre Japanese Formula 1 drivers, as well?

anyone have any idea what I can make with polenta?
Ata, you need Haz for that inquiry
very true ...
I need a clue for re 7/28, please?
I bought a pack of it earlier, was on special offer and thought I'd have something different
I have a box of polenta in my pantry. To me, it is the same as grits.
re7/28 in the dock again
same as the first pr8, just drop the first letter... to do with a judge/jury...
Kallia, thanks so much..I thought I had typed that one in.
I'm determined to make something nice with it!
yw
Polenta is good with spaghetti sauce
I bought a pack fo polenta about 6 months ago, still haven't used it
is it boxed polenta or a roll?
got to go get veg on for dinner,,,back later
boxed polenta use broth and herbs instead of water and throw in a grated cheese near the end
I just took the box of polenta out of the pantry. There is a recipe for a mushroom sauce on the box. Looks like the main course is just the polenta. I have yet to make it..same as Katie
hi all
roll, ready made stuff
I ususally do the same, this is why I am determined to create something this time!
Then slice it and fyr it up with crispy edges -- heavenly!
hi jmc
or mash it out in a baking dish and put a layer of grated cheese on the top and bake it
hi annie
oooo jmc! cook extraordinaire obviously!
cheese does sound good on this cold day
or you could use it as the base of tamale pie or a shepherds pie
tamale pie isa great way to use left over chicken or beef
everyone's going to be cooking polenta tonight :)
cheese always sound good to me!
not me...having ruebens
me too jmc!
hi all! survived the flight(s) to knoxville, how're you?
hi jes just sticking my toe in over lunch
hi es!
oooh... lunch. that's a good idea. i should do that.
anybody in tennessee wanna meet for lunch?
hi jes
how thick slices of polenta should I make, jmc?
get Une, jes, she's in Tenn
for the fried ones or the baked dish?
both :D
*clueless*
she online?
hi again, babble friends
hi beach
I dont think so
howdy bb
Polenta is like couscous - if you don't know what to do with it is taste horrible or sits in the cupboard.
so what you do with it is make it with broth and herbs and it is wonderful -- but I like couscous too
FM! You are so right
exactly! that's what I thought I'd ask for advice!
nah, gotta disagree, mitch. couscous is very versatile... if you don't know what to do with it, just mix it with meat and/or veggies and add a litle sauce.
couscous is my favrouite thing
but there is distinctly couscous and *good* couscous
i think slices about 1/4 inch thick of polenta, with some sausage or chicken in white sauce over it, ata
ata slice it about 1/2 inch thick
jes thats what I said - if you don't know how to deal with it, it just sits there.
*is couscous expert* *smug*
ty ty jmc adn jes :)
when you fry is make sure to leave it sit in one place so that the crust develops before you try to flip it
but i didn't know how to deal with it until i started throwing it in stuff... and really, haven't had anything that turned out too poorly that i could blame on the couscous... had some sauces not come out right, but you can't blame the pasta
ooh, tried a new one a few weeks ago. take cauliflour and chop it up really fine, mix it with couscous and spices and fry it. good stuff
and i don't like cauliflower!
I tried a new one too - apple and raisin couscous. yum!
Are you cooking from scratch Ata?
well polenta is just corn meal mush with an attitude
yep!
WTG girl!
mm if you cook the apple and raisin couscous in orange or apple juice, it is really yummy
OH rats think I have broken my shredding machine - it is making dying noises again but they sound final. BRB..
oh no, mitch!
Hi all. Mitch you have to oil them. I ruined one before I figured that out.
hullo, hego
awwwww
Oil them - Oh heck!
Hi gang and I'm sorry but bye also. BBl
Will have to investigate that tomorrow.
they sell pre-oiled sheets to run through them, or you can use clipper oil and just put some on a piece of paper before you run it through
Yes Mitch. They have oil you just put across a piece of paper and run it through. Otherwise the cutters overheat and make that noise.
anyone have the al7 and the al8?
not me, mom
al + vowel + not day
Oooh, has vision of going out tomorrow to find oil embeded paper for shredders or failing that pouring salad dressing into shredding machines :)
thanks... just could not manage to monkey it!
thanks, eva!
vinigrette might be better!
Eva...congrats on your engagement! (I know I'm slow, but I just saw!)
hah. i'd stick to clipper oil, mitch :P or at least just olive oil and not a heavy dressing!
Oh, congratulations!
TY dan :)
and mom :)
*Like us babblers need an excuse to party - Yay EvaN* no that we have celebrated before or anything :)
had round 1 of dress shopping last night. quite surreal!
I remember taking my ex dress shopping when we got engaged...she made me wait in the car while she and her friends went in to choose (none of them drove)...at 5 stores!
yow, dan. why didn't they have a mother or friend that did drive take them, who'd be allowed to see the dresses?
That is so wrong Danf!
It wasn't that bad...I took a book and read in the car while I waited. I think i took a nap, too, but it WAS 16 years ago, so I'm not sure
did you watch Masterchef last night, FM?
Only caught the last 15 mins Ata. - who ar eyou going for?
did you see the bit with the pastry chefs?
hello
hi liz
lizzzz!
I think so that was at the end of the prog, NO? The pastry towe and the mango et al?
:)
Hey Liz :)
hey liz...do you think i make a donation to your dogs for the disabled it'd be tax-deductible here?
or does it not count, since you're in a different country?
yep, the nice French judge - Eric Lanlard - made my wedding cake :)
I don't know Jes?
OMG!
whta FM???
hmm. i'll have to ask...
when do you jump?
I have pic ofh that you sent me
Jes we did it last weekend. Was it last weekend Ata?
he's a gooood boy!
Ata has great connections.
pic?
um. Oct 11th! the date is forever stuck in my mind!
aha; how'd it go?
LOL its all a blur!
Jes it was amazing but very scary
They did brilliantly Jess and raised a whole load of £ for thecharity.
:D glad you landed safely!
Ata and I were both sick LOL
excellent
so am I!!!!!
oh no :(
I did have a momentearlier on when I suddenly went "omg. I jumped out of a plane" LOL
Ata? Would you do it again?
heheh
LOL I keep doing that!!!!
hope you weren't sick on your jump-guide (or what do they call the person who goes with you?)
I think you should stop with the sick thing as it might put other 'jumpers off'.
Ata was ROFL
la la lala
oh yes!
FM It wouldnt put me off doing another
one thing did occur to me - you jumped out 2 people before me, and landed about a minute afterwards. Bad Geoff really went quickly!
back for a few more words;)
LOL It might put off your jump leader though :)
hi crossy :)
*went down
I know!!! Ellie thought I'd backed out!
I know!!! Ellie thought I'd backed out!
howdy jess
((((fm))))
sent your bacon burger story to my bf. he said he couldn't believe anybody would eat that. but the wheat bread and lite dressing were a nice touch, well played
I have no idea why it took so long.
poor Ellie going out so early
Hey Crossy ((())) seen yr blog and love the pics.
hi Crossy
lol jes
howdy liz
She loved it
OK I have to go read a bedtime story...BBL
ty fm,ill have to get working on it,just made it yesterday
bye, liz
night night meg!
tc liz
jes, I've been voting for you daily
thanks, ata! dropped down to 10 last week, but today we're back up to 8 :)
yay!
my mom and i've both been handing out flyers at work asking people to vote :)
half way... should i break for lunch, or wait for the bf to get done playing with new machines for work and just do dinner with him? it's 2pm... he may be done early, or late. we don't know.
wait
alright
more fun having dinner with bf :)
hello again everyone
back to finish maybe lol
is true. we will have to go exploring, since we don't know where anything is around here, or even what the options are
hi, jac
oooo fun!
or scary; cities terrify me
dont think of the city, just think of sniffing out food!
Exploring for food is always fun, IMHO
i wonder if the shuttle from the airport would take us to a good restaurant...
if you want to know the best places to eat get a cab cab drivers know everything
jes, may i ask where you are?
she's in TN somewhere
wa
ul
sorry!
oh, Tom used to live in East TN.
grah. stupid hotel interwub just booted me
dc, How is Tom?
doing well, thank you, annie. A bit better each day at this point.
i'm in knoxville for the week :)
so glad to hear the good news!
that's where Tom lived, asking for recs
excellent, thanks dc! also; love the schaudenfreude pie, will have to remember to make it when we get home!
The Butcher Shop is really good. Chesapeake's for seafood. The Orangerie is 5-stare. Naples is nice for Italian in West Knoxville he says. Louis' Drive-in is pizza and pasta and burgers; he says theire peperroni pizza is the shit. First two are downtown.
mmm pizza
the butcher shop? I assume they serve some sort of meat? hehehe
what kind of food do you want jes
indeed they do. grill your own steaks basically he says
something we can't get at home, basically. which doesn't limit us much! there's a chinese restaurant and a bar that serves better-than-normal bar food and whatever random the owner decides to cook.
there's also Wok Hay in West Knoxville, if it's still open.
lots of chain restaurants around too he says
sounds promising, i'll suggest it when bruce gets back! thanks :)
Butcher;s Shop sounds yummy
may i ask ballpark where home is?
eastern washington, in a tiny little town nobody's ever heard of
when I travel i do a search for a local magazine's recommendations online
when I move over to Oregon, I'm determined to come adn visit you, jes :)
The Volunteer Grill downtown has some E TN food. There's a bbq place at Washington Pike and Whittle Springs called F.A.T. doing smokey mtn bbq
you need grits and biscuets and F.A.T. Buddy's BBQ is the local Knoxville chain.
so found taht wok hay is still around the Butcher's shop is getting mixed reviews
he strongly suggests Louis'
TN barbecue is good.
totally welcome to come up, ata!
when you move to oregon ata I am determined to visit you!
both!
I'm going to have years of fun exploring OR and WA
i obviously need to write these down :)
I'm in the grid!
whoo hoo krise
Calhoun's on the river is very nice he says, and that you MUST go there and have a Spinach Maria while you're there
Hi everyone :)
what is a spinach maria?
howdy krise;)
It's a creamed spinach dish that he says they do quite nicely and is one of their most popular dishes.
howdy cross
Calhouns is where bruce's co-workers went last night without us, while we were sitting in chicago wondering if we'd get to fly down.
mmm creamed spinach
can someone clue the in6/24??? It's driving me nuts.
just started - how is the grid today, beside my being in it?
other than big, seems about average, kris
thanks, jes
ah. seems he'll be working late rather than early. he just texted and told me to not wait.
:-( too bad jes
what exactly are grits?
i don't have it yet mom2
so i'm off to fill my belly for a bit. thanks for the recs, dc, we'll surely hit some of them this week! (and tell tom thanks for me!)
no worries, jam, i'll have him to myself for the rest of the week, today's the only day he's working
corn hominy dried and ground into a coarse meal crossy
have fun!
that's good -- have fun
crossy, it's the white part of the corn, dried and recooked. "corn squeezins" as Tom calls them. Southern staple - as savory food
ok..now hominy lol
so have fun all, i'll probably be back in a bit to get those last hundred words...
in6 in + not a child but an a****
bye jess
so,like corn bread,but fried?
hominy is corn soaked in lye until it is puffy and the husk dissolves
hominy is whole corn treated with lye, then canned then cooked.
no grits are more like couscous
lye?? isn't that toxic or something?
i love hominy and grits
Metro Pulse has a Best of Knoxville. Stir Fry Cafe has numerous different styles of mostly Asia food, excellent Tom Yum soup and terrific spring rolls
it's a weak solution and the lye is long gone when you eats them
good grief, sound rough, you all come up here and ill make you a canadian north woods camp breakfast that will bring a tear to yer eyes;))
ah, poutine :)
I would love to come up except for the border crossing thing
phew!
clue for the first in5.10, pls?
Louis' about the only thing he misses about Knoxville
in5/10 not active
ata, corn needs to be treated with lime (the mineral) or lye to be fully digestable. It doesn't take much of either to activate the enzyme for digestability. W/out lime or lye, it's not very nutritious
ty, jess. geez fish me!
crossy rolls his eyes @ "corn squeezins" lol
yw
ooo never knew that!
FYI real 'corn squeezins' is moonshine. He just finds the phrase usefule to describe grits
i look for 'a touch of lime' in the ingredient list on corn products, ata, to ensure maximum nutrition
brb food time
our peaches and cream corn is coming out of the fields now...yum!
time for a big corn roast soon;)
roast peaches and pork is nice
interesting, closest ive come to that is a ham done in the oven with a gooseberry glaze
having a maple and hickory smoked ham tonight as a matter of fact;))
same sample peach and pork recipes from cooks.com:
http://tinyurl.com/yf8qdur
mmmmmmm moves in with Mr and Mrs crossy
they were on sale 4 person size ham was 43.50!!
very nice with the ham, crossy
that's twice as much as it would cost here, my god.
ill put bacon and cheddar scallop tatties on the side and maybe some cauliflower with cheese sauce
that should of read $3.50
wow
bout 4 pounds in weight
wow!
VERY good deal :)
thats about 1/3 price,usually 8-11 dollars
maple leaf..yummers
and of course a tube of pilsbury crescent rolls;)
:)
I thought you were a veggie dc
well dc can have the cauli, the rolls and the scalloped tatties
i am jmc, but i grew up eating meat, and know a fair amount about it :)
more pork for my fork:))
that sounds distinctly rude
common phrase structure here in NA when someone says they don't want some of something, Ata, though i do see your point
lol its used as a commercial jingle here for the pork producers of ontario ata lol
I know ... but it *does* sound funny!
funny how commericals vary by contry and what is considered acceptable for the viewers and what is not..some of the european commercials we see on tv specials just blow our mind hehe
the Aussie commercials are the worst
what comes to mind are some danon yogurt commercials hehe
though i love that aussie commercial where kate goes to find herself;0
don't know the danone ones. our ads are dominated by stupid meerkats right now
we have a meercat cell phone one going atm
i think the meerkat ones are a brilliant piece of marketing
they are blody annoying, but I agree
GEICO, and insurance company here, has been using a British Gecko in their ads for some years now.
go to comparethemeerkat.com
a British Gecko? O.O
indeed, ata
didn't know we had british geckos!
the absoulute best commercial ive ever seen in my life is one in a series that the canadian govt put out on boat and car safety and alcohol imparement(you may be able to google them but they are off the air now)it shows a boat drifting along and then it pans to 2 young boys in it with thier lifejackets on,you hear the water lapping at the boat as it drifts, the kids are very still and wide eyed.as the camera pans back you see a male adult boy floating face down and drifitng away from the boat and it does not have a life jacket onand as the camera fades to black a voice say"never drink while boating and always wear you life jacket'
mm dan typos
sounds like a quite effective PSA, crossy
we understand
it was in combination with one of a guy sitting on a curb, the police and ambulance people are over by a car wreck and in the background are 3 body bags, one large and 2 small, then it pans back to the guy on the curb,he puts his head in his hands and you can see him shaking and in print at the bottom near the end it says "first he killed the bottle"
very powerfull commericals indeed
sounds it
anyway enough gloom, whant i should streak across the chog? lol
hello 114 to go
streaking? woot!
howdy harp
Yay Crossy - go for it!!!
fifi!
lol, better go hose down this mass of muscle first, back in a few..semi poof
OH you woosHey Ata :)!
hi, harp and FM
I haven't said this enough - it was *so* lovely to see you last weekend
(((())))
and The Thatch now has *great* sticky toffee pudding!
*wipes a tear and tries to eradicate the typo monster.*
*sits back in the PB and wiats for Crossys streak* :)
Hi dc :)
*drums nails on desk ... pus out bacon trail ... *
he's run away
alas, seems so
he's gone for a shower
I suppose we want a non-smelly streaker
LOL - I iwas just looking forward to the bacon strwened bod :)
FM will have to provide the entertainment instead
Umm, don's flamenco dress and dances the sevillanas, followed by quick costume change to be umm a babbler again but finds it had to type with castanets still on..
LOL YAY!
perhaps you could entertain me by offering a clue for pr7?
pr7 - clean, untouched
no offense on your castanet problem...
oops, that's the 8
lol no offence taken harp - esp as I am not gridding so cant clue you :)
i have a pr8 that means this thing you mention, clean. i have no personal experience with the concept
pr7 is an archaic term meaning will you please.
I can assure you that if you own castanets, you are one step closer to my idea of heaven!
pr7 - would you please
I do harp - and I can tel you that it was an incredible learning experience !
I'd like a instrument that is easy to take on a plane!
As much as I want to see Crossy streak though the grid - I have to go :( Happy Babbling all.
be well, FM
bye dear!
Ata Can you yahoo? Thanks dc and to you too.
te9?
*logging on*
it builds off a 6 i don't have yet, harp
same her dc
same here
te + rapa *** + consonant
ty, ata
still in the dark here....
got both from that.
rapa *** = easter island
got it thanks
harp, Easter Island
61 to go bbl
njoy, harp
well i finally got the 6 from that but forgot the clue for the 9 :-(
put a man's neckwear on the endish
the first 5 letters from the 6, then the word for what you do with your laces in the morning plural
jmc, add a couple of ascots...
ty jac and ame
and ata! help from all quarters
arent we nice
yep you are
some of us are lol, i am only nice when i have choklit
now jac you either must eat a lot of choklit or you are incorrect in your assertion
i eat loads of choklit LOLOLOLOL
have just eaten a huge aero
i'm nice, I have vodka and orange
mint?
hm. food other than Pringles is likely a good idea.
no, choklit
i like the vodka idea a lot
mint aero I meant. or normal aero?
vodka is a good good thing! especially vanilla Absolute
*Absolut
normal, mint are ok but my daughters dog ate the mint one
loooooooooool
love the mint ones
freaky. I find the theme from Monty Python soothing.
me too, i eat all the choklit off the outside and then suck the mint bit
me too!
lol, i eat mars bars the same way
and snickers
and bounties!
mmmmmm yes and yes
why are there so few dark chocolate bounties nowadays?
Stop with the choklit talk, i'm drooling over my keyboard!!!!
flakes! flakes! twirls!
mmmmmmmmm mars bar icecream
MALTESERS!
maltesers
unchies
munchies
Galaxies!!!!!!
chocolate buttons!
mmmmmmmm
GIANT choc buttons!
caramels
oh yes ata, 5 at a time LOL
Cadbury's Roses
mmmmm
Quality Street
how many maltesers can you fit in your mouth at one time?
too many
Mingles
lol
Ferrero Rocher!!!!
in the eighties there was a bar, a cabana bar i think it was like a bounty with cherries and caramel, i loved those
oh yes ata
That's it, my keyboard has exploded with the saturation!!!!!
I love love love the Cadbury's Old Jamaica bars, when you can get them
LOLOL
and Nutty (?) bars from ages ago - like caramel with peanuts on the outside
ohhhhh yes to both
you remember those Nutty bars? I was beginning to think I was imagining them
i remember them picking the nuts out of the toffee mmmmmmm
exactly! you are the only other person I know who remembers them
thats because i was a pig then lol
I was a kid and in love with them
my cat was also called Nutty at the time, so Nutty bars were doubly cool
I've gained five pounds just lurking!
LOLOLOLOLOL
Did you know it was Mike D'Abo of Manfred Mann who came up with the Cadbury's Fudge jingle?
i loved nutty bars, so messy and tasty
I wish theyd come back. At least Cadbury's brought back Wispas
if they bring back mint Wispas I will be VERY happy
my kids hate that jingle LOL i buy a fudge for the grandkids when i take them to the shop and i sing that sone every time i open it for them LOLOLOL
email them ata, start something in your facebook
Me too ata, I love anything mint flavoured
me too. and mint wispas were just the ultimate
And coconut flavoured
mmmm yes
I have some brown sugar with coconut bits in and it's the best stuff over porridge etc
do you remember chewing tobacco?
shredded coconut with sugar and stuff?
mm yes
tu6.24, pls?
i still can't believe they called it that, but they sold it in pouches
there's a grid?
one who tu4/5's a piano perhaps
tu6/24 - tu plus an anagram of what the hen did with the egg.
that's the 6.21
haz!!
I've found a great bog name
C'est moi!
thank you, haz
Mullanatoomog
And what's it called?
You're welcome, dc.
Mercy, that's a mouthful.
in Tyrone
sounds more Aus Aboriginal than Irish
I didn't think it was anywhere near here, not that I am that well acquainted with the bogs of Ulster.
i agree, ata
I think the nearest important bog to you is somewhere called Ballynahone
mullan has celtic flair
Whereabouts is it? Oh wait, I can google.
mulligatawny
I'm only saying near from a vague and blurry map of NI peat bogs!
Near the Glenshane Pass - on the road to Londonderry. It's a bit away but probably right next door in American/Aussie terms.
you dont' have any good bogs right there
outrageous
You can't have everything.
Ballynahone has its own nature reserve, apparently. The things you learn here.
today I've been learning all about the different assemblages of Sphagnum moss you get in Irish bogs. The fascination almost kills me
are you offering soup, jmc?
but there is a very prettily named bog called Fairy Water
Sphagnum papillosum and magellanicum.
it would probably be a good two hours away in scottish terms of distance LOL
and fusca. S. fusca is very rare. and red.
and then there's bog cotton adn bogbean and wolly fringe moss and bog rosemary and bog this and bog that
And you thought it was just a big mess of bogland!
and cranberries, bilberries, lingonberries, you name it
and the spangleberry
Lingoberries - as fed to the English speakers in the Gaeltacht to aid them in their study of Irish.
not offering soup just comparing that word with mullinwhatever from earlier
"Guinness!" what more does one need toknow?
Slainte?
Don't forget the bog roll after eating all those berries ..
Baileys!
dooleys too
When is your assignment due, Ata?
2 weeks time. Lucky you. 2 weeks more of random bogness!
And I meant to ask before, if you've ever smelt a peat fire?
yes ... but a long time ago
peat fires smell amazing and welcoming and they make you think of earlier times
It's such a characteristic smell. They burn peat in the fires in all the houses and cottages in the Ulster Folk Museum and it really helps to set the scene.
it's like they call out to a primal inherited memory of safety and shelter
they do at Blist's Hill as well - folk musemum in Shropshire
what does it smell like?
they burn pot out here in California.. and it has a very peaty smell too
How to describe peat? Stronger than wood, quite smoky and rich.
pleasant?
yep
It's lovely.
mossy-smoky
Just googled - some enterprising soul is selling Irish peat incense.
peat is a great fuel
Is it still harvested and used as a fuel on Ireland?
Yes - not as much as before, but still used.
Fewer and fewer people have open fires and people tend to use coal more often. But you still get people renting a piece of moss and cutting turf for themselves. It can also be cut by machinery, but that's cheating.
That sounds like a great incense!
They're selling the incense in Tipperary - you can probably get leprechaun after shave in the same shop.
one year's machine trimming = 200 years of peat accumulation
LOL. They may have some at the Renaissance Faire!
a clue for the al 7 and 8 pls
al7 - al plus a verb meaning to get together or bring together.
al & to become one
ty i never would have seen that
I still don't see it!
look at the u's Mich
Thanxxx Lynxxx
al plus an anagram of what you do with shoelaces when you take off your shoes.
Right, I'd better go and see if there are any crimes to solve on TV. Happy babbling to all! Bye!
bye dear!
Bye everyone. Lots to do today so I had better start
Bye!
HELLO all!!!!
hey stid! have not seen you in a whole
while...sorry have the flue
hi,stid and science. Bye lyn and haz
heya mama and science
I am sorry to learn that, science. I hope you mend quickly!
how's today's grid?
no too bad at all
I have been sick since Thrurs
Thursday
sends home made soup to science
two days at home need to try and teach tomorrow. of course, it is the students who made me like this LOL
okay, I'll give it a try. lickety is being very slow to load for me, I think because of where I am sitting.
(((gentle hugs for science))) *and a box of kleenex and a cold lemonade*
ty jacq i am making from chicken noodle tonight......
look at my typing what a shame
decaf chai with agave syrup right now
that sounds like a nice tea, science.
*offers science a hot toddy made with Southern Comfort*
hi all, help with pe6/24 pls
back. hey pe4!
pe 6/24 - the next to last, as syllables in a word
hi everyone
ty, jbv
thanks, JBV
someone say southern comfort?:)
thanks JBV!
not an easy grid for me, plodding along, 62 left
DC Babble meet-up set, details in my profile
indeed crossy.
very tough grid for me;(
I will never drink southern comfort again, got sooo sick from it many years ago
it is a hrd grid
it's medicine, not drink, pe4 :)
hey cross. I am down to 197! no hope of finishing today, but that's not my goal most days now.
how about a babble meet up in Phila. would be easier for me
That's doable. When?
have no idea, just thought of it, dc
:) we're doing the Sat after Thanksgiving here
maybe I will talk with TO and get her input
coolio
down to 163.... why didn't I look at the word count before I started???
first pr5 pls
getting tired of t his trid, cannot find the pr7 either
like old term for Beijing
sorry peri, not yet listing.
bbl
the pr 5 I just found sounds like the stuff you win in a contest if that's any help?
later peri
lol stid, once i leaned to relax with bable and not take a unfinished grid as a persoal insult, finishing be came a non-issue for me as well;0
hasta, peri
if anyone has it, I would love to have NBT before I need to leave... the E next to the H please? it's my last untouched tile.
needlcase, stid
thanks seain
I knew it was probably fishy! LOL
that's my word, stid!
what is it about undergrads -- they DO smoke, they DON'T shower??? *yuck face*
down to 150...
oh, and DO NOT Go into their dorm rooms!
gah. *chokes at the very idea*
I am sure I was not like this when I was that age. Partly because I had to work to put myself through school!
i went to a commuter school, where even the peeps in the dorms mostly worked at least halftime. rooms were mostly neat and clean.
and mostly because I lived at home and my mother wouldn't let me throw clothes on the floor
so perhaps the idea of going away to school isn't such a great one for people who don't have some real-life experience of some kind?
YES! UP to 100 words!!!! *happy mama look*
stid how are your classes?
eh, we all need to learn somehow, stid
well, my classmates are beginning to gather... I should head out.
be well, stid
thanks all ((hugs)) see you again soonish.
bye stid

lol Nrkii
hell, 5 seconds from finding it could be a long time...
ty
hi nrk. who is kinda sorta in the grid
I saw that this morning... very happy!!
I go by nrk and nrkii.

sorry, that didn't make any sense
so, who wants to hear the news of the day?
bad clue
du + not day
news? sure hurshy
Hello all. Yes, Hurshy, what is the news of the day?
hi scrabs!
the news is that your good pal hurshy, who has never had an alcoholic beverage in her life, cannot pass a sobriety test.
ty
Huh? What do you mean?
ut oh
i'm in a class offered by the police where you learn about what they do. today we had a lady telling us about DUIs and she asked for a volunteer to demonstrate the tests
The tests indicate impaired neurological function and mental status
i said i would but that i had to warn her i was very clumsy. i am fine with touching the pen and following it with my eyes, but when it comes to walking a straight line or holding a foot in the air without losing my balance, it's pretty hopeless.
i have terrible balance
Are these findings new for you, Hurshy?
no, you should have seen my try to do the "tree" in yoga!
You don't have any driving problems, right? And your speech is normal, right?
In Canada if you can't blow hard enough and long enough to completely empty your lungs, you can still be arrested for "refusing" to take the breathalizer!
i've always been very uncoordinated and balance is the worst. also stretching. i cannot touch my toes.
i don't have any driving problems and my speech is normal.
so, i wouldn't be asked to take a sobriety test under any other circumstances. so it's not a problem, it's just pathetic.
Then you are not ever likely to be tested.
Some people are klutzy, that is for sure
fireworks
yay Merk!
not to mention the added nervousness of doing this in front of the police, or even in front of a class!
Yahoo Merk!
fireworks
I'm very klutzy
so what do you have to do
I would never pass a sobriety test
Yippee Anike
i figured there were bound to be other klutzes on here who would sympathize :D
congrats, anike
yay Anike!!
test anxiety, ru? or just too much merlot?
TY
Even if you were sober, Ruru?
especially then..lol
I think I'd pass the test, but I might fall on my butt on my way back to my car, or close the door on my hand, or hit my head getting in the car... etc
sgamer--go to the help section above or scroll down and read Lickety Clues
don't a lot of people have trouble standing on one foot while holding the other one straight out in front (no bending the knee) and looking at it???
I am klutzy yet have always been athletic. I just wipe out a lot.
<-- had trouble just reading the directions~
hurshy, depends on how long I had to hold that position
Hey, hurshy, I have trouble standing on BOTH feet.
like, 30 seconds, nrk, and thank you, brabble.
Hi, ppl!
oh, no way would I make it 30 seconds... 10 probably, maybe 20
I actually got on like a few minutes ago.
hi baby4
i can MAKE it, i'm just holding my arms out and swaying and stuff, which makes it look bad.
hi, catching up with chat - hurshy we were just talking about exactly this at lunch the other day - everyone I work with all said the same - we cannot balance on one foot!!
I found "dune".
they ask you first if you have any medical conditions that would prevent you from being able to do this, and i'm like, well, does just having poor balance count as a medical condition??
there are things on Wii Fit that help with balance... they're tough, but I can tell they are helpful
Hi, JB!
hi JBV!
hi baby and hi everyone
baby4, please try not to post words from the puzzle in the chat log.
Wii Fit?

the Umps? How about the players! TWO NY Yankees on 1 base!

hi unea
howdy, dawg!
hello babblers
hey, gortmold
Hi Gort
and Une
once upon a time a young lawyer finally got his day in court. he submitted his pr***** papers, but the judge said " you must re***** this and PR**** it out. I have never seen such en*** blather! So the young man (he was in his TW******) went back to his office to wr**** up another paper before the TR*** which was set for the TE**** of the month. He was very TE*** about being in the court room and hoped he did not look like a tw**** or mess it all up that would make it end up in a RE*****.!!!
hey, dr :-)
hi gort!
Nice Mel!
cute, Mel.
oh yuk -- pt? -- I have no idea!

hello all! hey gort!
I need twenty more for my goal of halfway...
hello, stid
how are you (((nan))) haven't seen you in ages!
hey stidster! nice to "see" ya, i see you are still wearing a vibrant shade of citrus
yes gort, though I wish I'd had someone take my picture yesterday when I wore mostly PINK.
hi stiddy!
hey LBDQ!
oops. LBD. no Q. LOL
were you being pro (or anti) breast cancer or do you just like pink?
I like pink. I am terrified of breast cancer, my father's sister died of it at the ripe age of 24, then his best friend (male) died of it at about 50. Scary topic.
but mostly I just like pink. it's pretty.
of course I also like orange, blue, green...
how about you gort? do you have a favorite color?
i spose you're doing all the things they tell you to hedge your bets against bc?
I'm a freak for flaming red
yes, and yearly mammograms since I found a (benign) lump ten years ago.
tu 6/24?
I like red, it's a bold color.
i like it so much i have a loud streak of it in my otherwise blackish hair. it's not subtle
rofl... *visions of zebra-type stripes in hair...*
sorry nan, don't have that yet.
you're not far off there stid, just think recently mauled zebra
ACK! (poor little zebra)
tu + boy + 3rd vowel
thanks for that gort.
ty gort
two more to halfway....
no worries at all, someone else clued it earlier and i snafooied it
go stid!
hey we heard down under about that californian abductee who has just been found and has 2 children by her abductor...
and one past my goal. All else is gravy, right?
yes, that was such a bizarre case, so unusual to find someone alive after so long
is someone rehabilitating her and how?
how do you recover from years of sexual abuse when you have 2 permanent byproducts - children?
I think they are trying to work with her and her children, but I suspect it's a complicated thing. After all, she is now an adult and has choice in the matter for herself and for her children.
i think i heard that she's getting some help. her kids are doing pretty good, all things considered
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help, folks :)
it scrambles my neurons to think of her parents and how they're dealing with it
YAY nan!
whoooo hooooo NAN!!!
and i must get to my pillows. see you all tomorrow!
well done nan
sweet dreams LBD
ni4 dawger
*poof*
it's playing on my mind more, because my own daughter (7) foiled an attempted abduction just last week
*gasp* oh gort! Is she okay? Are you?
oh dear -- that's scary gort
she's absolutely fine, mostly because of divine intervention and the fact that we had given her the stranger danger talk the week before and she kenw exactly what to do
it's the terrible possibilities that loom
see you later -- must go and process some more travel pics
she had a detailed description of the guy, told the cops, put an identikit picky together, so now we know what the face of evil looks like
I still give my teen boys the talk about safety (and not just for strangers) regularly.
good for her, gort -- and for you. So hard to think straight sometimes in situations like that.
ironically, we had let her play in our front yard because we read an article that week about not mollicoddling kids and that abductions are extremely rare!
they are rare, gort -- but always scary.
she's a cluey kid with a keen eye for odd details
