to7?
josh, do you have to7, please?
there are two, jaeleigh
night jilli
to7/32 and to7/40
Pls clue them both
one sounds like you are very firm in what you believe the weight of something very heavy to be
the other builds off to5.16 - add a consonant, and PL for the 7
Ty for that 1st one Josh. Hello everyone
TY!
Did not get the 7/32 to
that's the weight one
to+ double cons. + f*** (animal in water) does not work!
i know, but there are a few words that that ending
Jae - a weight & to be very certain about something
My last one: tr6/18! Help!
prefix for 3 & take a ***p in the right direction
TY! That is very sad in French! I am far from very sad! Thank you so much, all!
congrats Jae
yay, jae!!!
I am having suregry in the AM...

doing this is better than thinking about the fact that I cannot drink or smoke!
Good luck Jae - hope all goes smoothly
good luck with the surgery, jae
i am bad at this game
Practice makes perfect (or at least better) Rob. Welcome
Rob, it takes time and a vast knowledge of goofy words that nobody uses anymore!
yeah, probably just words i've never heard of
This pzzle had a bunch of blatantly French words
For example, the number three in French- tr+ two vowels + snake letter
You know about Lickety Rob? If not see link below
Well, I'm off to QP!
i stumbled here
It's a good game of you like words Rob...but very very addictive.
i only have 51 words... this is tough
It seems a tough grid, the smaller ones are often so. the 300+ ones are a lot easier
38 left, back to bed, thunder woke me up to Babble.
off to bed with fireworks for me! (listed for the last 15)
hi all :)
Hello Ata, good morning/evening all.
hey ata. i'm depressed.
awww why?
Haz! Good news! We finally have another supermarket in Faversham to rival the evil Tesco
Excellent! There's a good reason for hurshy not to be depressed.
my husband probably has cancer (although it is also probably quite fixable), my sister's dog may have cancer, and my christmas gift plans keep getting messed up.
I thought they hadn't decided it was cancer yet?
they haven't decided. it's just the odds are high.
Then concentrate on the positive, it's probably fixable.
sadness :( how is he coping?
we have a Morrisons! it's so exciting. I went there this morning and it was lovely
he's coping fine. if my sister's dog has bone marrow cancer, however... she will not cope fine. i am very worried.
and at least you have Christmas plans to mess up :P I don't even have an oven LOL
much sadness about the pup :(
Don't meet trouble halfway. The dog might be fine, your sister may cope better than you think, meanwhile you've wasted energy fretting about things you have no control over.
good old Haz, ever practical :)
It's just that I have a daughter who could participate in the Worry Olympics.
well when you wake up in the middle of the night and you find that you were outbid at the last minute in an auction that ended at 2:30 AM your time for the gift you were going to buy your nephew, it makes you cranky.
Her mind is full of 'what ifs'.
anyone have the to7,32 - it's my last t word
yes, that's really annoying
Then don't allow yourself to be outbid if it's going to upset you. Settle for buying things at a fixed price - less cause for anxiety.
forward - to the to5 add the first letters of the Russian Emperor.
ok but i can't, it's vintage, the new ones are crappy.
Sorry, that's the other to7 - to7/32 - a hairdo, combine a weight with certainty.
how HOW is sq6/27y not allowed?
Because enable has no imagination.
thanks Haz
obviously!!
You're welcome.
what do you want to get him?
well in the first place i wanted to get him an heirloom quality rocking horse, but it turned out that my sister's in laws are already saving one for him. so then i thought, i'll at least get him a sit n spin - that was the second of the two things i didn't have as a kid that i really really wanted. and now i'm outbid.
awww Haz, Jordan dumped her boyfriend on live tv. isn't that nice
hurshy, I don't want to sound as though I dismiss all your worries, I know they're real to you. I just would like it if you could put some positive strategies in place to counteract the negative thoughts.
Ata, she's pure class, she just keeps demonstrating it.
and there will always be another one to bid on - you'll just have to stay up and wait!
isn't she just? and she wonders why people dislike her??
there won't always, it has to be this certain brand, those were the really good ones. there might be another one before christmas and there might not.
hopefully there will be
Then just remember that your nephew doesn't know that he might have had the toy you wanted. He'll be thrilled with whatever he gets. The aim is to please him.
there better be. who ends an auction at 2:30 in the morning anyway?
Can we blame FM?
sadistic sellers
Does she not set the rules for auctions?
bound to
I think I remember something about her doing things like that. No wonder she had to move house.
now this is more like it
Besides, there are more things to rejoice over. Tony Blair is NOT president of the EU.
Earlier as Alex boarded his flight to Australia he told waiting reporters: 'I'm definitely asking her to marry me. 'One idea is I make the proposal in front of the cameras on the show. But whatever happens I know this is right. I've never felt this way before.' The source said: 'An hour before she appeared on air Jordan summoned him and told him it was over. 'She was fed up with him making money from her. Friends say he is devastated.' Miss Price warned producers about her announcement just minutes before filming started.
John and Edward are out of X Factor.
Fresh start: Katie Price uses her first day of freedom to hits the shops at the Versace Hotel with her friend Michelle Heaton - Price says she is a changed person after her jungle experience
Hurray
Katie Price is losing her looks, has lost her boyfriend and all her credibility.
Peter kay's video for Children in Need is funny.
i don't know who any of these people are except for tony blair...
Just know that they are all things to rejoice over. Especially John and Edward.
Definitely
What other good news? Is the rumour true that Dr-G is to give us money back if he gives too many small grids in a row?
one of my college friends, a professor, just got tenure.
Good for him/her!
him.
you guys would like him a lot.
Note how gender sensitive I was?
Hobbit is finally asleep after bouncing half the night!
Is he tall, good looking and rich?
yes, very good haz.
I probably should have been terribly politically correct and included pre-op transgenders and post-op transgenders but that would take up too much space.
he is tall, he was ok looking in college, but has put on a lot of weight, and he's a professor so of course he's not rich. his wife, also my friend, is a pediatrician, but was unable to work for awhile due to a noncompete agreement with her boss who apparently went to scrabbler's old boss's school of human resource management.
and people of both genders
Darn, it's hard to be inclusive, isn't it?
Oh well, at least if he's a professor he's bound to be threatened with intelligence.
threatened?
Sense of humour?
some professors aren't remotely intelligent
oh, yes, very much good sense of humor, fun and funny guy.
Yes, one farmer once said of a lady vet who was doing work on his farm 'that girls is threatened with intelligence'. It was the closest he could come to complimenting her.
and he and his wife have two sons.
Sense of humour is essential.
loooool
and i think the noncompete is over for the doctoring so things are looking good for them all around i think.
how is the Spaghettina today?
She is flat out - her usual morning sleep to get over the trauma of the kennel.
not kennel trauma!! it's a hard life
i don't know what marty would do if i ever put him in a kennel. he was upset today (well yesterday) that i left him for two hours.
his opinion is that i should never leave the house. ever.
he'd get on with it like any other animal, then pay you back later
Spangle is accustomed to our cruelty and hardness of heart. For her, a dog's life is reality.
well at least she's resigned to her fate
poor unloved Spangle
That's right. She expects nothing better.
Just as long as we can stop her comparing notes with other dogs.
I got Hobbit a pack of tripe sticks at morrisons today. I keep forgetting how FOUL those things are
If she found out that other dogs get fed and get to sleep inside, we might have trouble.
So, when we see dogs coming, I quicken the pace.
how can you forget something like that? isn't there a reason that tripe has become used metaphorically as a synonym for drivel?
this isn't just tripe though ... it's tripe sticks. even worse
very sensible. hopefully she'll never talk to Hobbit
That would be the end. If she sees Hobbit's purple collar....
and heaven forbid she ever find out about a cat's life.
and matching purple lead!
No, cats will never stick around long enough to spill the beans. Or maybe she chases them because she resents them and their life of ease and comfort.
Matching purple lead..... They must never meet.
Hobbit chased an egret this morning
Poor egret.
she was very pleased with herself
I, however, was not so pleased because the chase ended on the creek mudflats that are about 2m deep and STINK
Does her purple collar not be infused with perfumes to counteract the stink?
It probably should be
That might be a good product. Dog collars with integrated air fresheners.
Dragons Den people would maybe give me some money.
bound to
OK. Hi all, time to include my favourite joke in my profile - for dog and cat lovers.
or pockets on the lead so you can release wafts of frgrance between you and the dog
Hello Sally!
Hi everyone.
Good thinking, Ata. Of course we'd have to make sure that we weren't threatening the ozone layer.
cockers don't pee on the carpet!! LOL but I love that joke
So do I Ata - can't include the pics in my profile though.
It's very funny, just captures the breeds and their characteristics so well.
are there any ST words?
No st words.
good, then i'll stop trying to find some.
I've just noticed the time! I'd better go and get some things done. Nice to see you, and hurshy, try not to worry too much.
bye dear! bye spaghettina!
i'm not worrying, i'm just kinda mad
hurshy, been reading back in the chog. The antique element of the present probably has more meaning for you than your nephew.
Okay, just don't beat yourself up too much.
Bye Haz
Bye!
it has more meaning for the laws of physics when he sits on a new one and it breaks because it's cheaply made...
soem things aren't badly made today ...
but this is - i read the consumer reviews - that's the whole reason i want to get the old one.
:(
get him a model of the Enterprise. much more important
I don't know how old your nephew is, but surely he will be happy whatever you get him.
it would have to be a stuffed model, or he'd throw it and break it.
bet you can get Make your own cuddly toy Enterprise kits!
yes, yes, he will be happy, and i know this is no big deal in the long run but i am just annoyed at the moment
and on top of that why isn't quora a word, my perennial Q peeve
I know ...
Sounds to me as if you need chocolate today :-)
yeah, i need chocolate.
Quick revisit - remembered a part of a Frasier episode where Frasier is distraught because a toy he had ordered for Freddie, 'The human brain' had been sent by mistake to a Mr Crane in Kennebunkport. Fearing that Christmas had been ruined he cries 'You know what this means?' Niles replies, 'Yes, the Cranes in Mayne have got your human brain'
looooooooool
love Niles
lol Haz
I know. I just treasure some of his lines. He says of Frasier 'He was already eminent when my eminence was merely imminent.'
Such brilliant writing and acting.
Anyway, this isn't getting my tasks completed, but had to share. Bye again!
Bye for now from me too. Have to dash, but be back later to finish.
i liked the one where he was subbing on frasier's radio show and he said, "while frasier is a freudian, i am a jungian, so there'll be no blaming of mother today!"
loooooool
ugh, v's
10 to go...
go go go
80 to go!
stuck stuck stuck
i found one!
i found another one! *gasp* i got all the s's!
go go go go go!
i can't ... i'm go go go go going back to sleep... see you later
lol nighty night!
Good morning/day to all.
hi scrabs!
I should have come here 4 hrs ago when I woke up. I struggled to sleep ever since, but I was comfy in my nest.
16 Q words!
yes .......
I bought lots of su4 cakes for my bird friends yesterday.
ooo lucky them!
how are all the bunbuns?
I take good care of my bird friends year-round--always a buffet with su4 cakes and feeders all ov4 the yard.
hu 7 -- more like Attila
how ridiculous
Bunnies are sweet. Sebastian is now 7 yrs 6 mo and my oldest ever was Callie who died at 7 yrs 8 mo. I was cuddling him last night and told him to please live forever.
awwwwwww
Hi BR--how chilly is it out there in your hammock?
in the thirties
I can't figure out the ending for hu7
good morning gang
Hi Merk
it ends as it began
isn't huevo egg in spanish?
I think so, Ata
yay! i know some Spanish :)
hello all - no lickety today?
No hablo espanol.
There is a list, Ursh.
oh tx scrabbler will reboot - still yesterdays up
I often forget to do that, Ursh, and then panic.
I'm going back to bed for a bit. guess what, I'm all shivery! Shivering is NOT helpful when you're trying to outline art using a 0.4mm pen!
Go warm up and nap, Ata.
s
am going to :) I should get blood tests results later to see if this is anything but stupidly prolonged bouts of flu
let me know
Hi Frances. Speak up.
will do! *poofs*
Hello Scrabbs. I'm in lurking mode. Sorry about that.
How are you?
I am annoyed that I didn't sleep well overnight. I will be tired and cranky today.
Tired and cranky is not a good look.
Well, I will try to not be cranky.
Are there quite a few words ending in that 'ish'?
I only have one so far Merk.
I have just one: hu7 = adjective for Attila
That's the one.
I have that one, too, and it looks so good there I wondered if there would be mre.
Kind of a waste with 174 words and only using it once.
I seem to run into so many potential words that are missing only the final letters.
I agree, Merk.
I love ones like the av 4 that you can just keep adding a letter one at a time to make new ones easily.
Or the sq where you can keep changing the final letters to make new ones.
av4, 5 and 6, right? Or are there more?
No, just those. But some days there are numerous ones and I love them.
The four fa 4 do that today, too.
Got those
Good Day Babblers :)
Hi Aussieme
Hey Merk
Hi aussie
Hey Scrabs xoxox
And at 106/68 I must shower and get off to work. Enjoy the day everyone!
see ya Scrabs xoxox
tata, Scrabs
aorist
oh bugger !
LOL Hi Aussie
Hey FM !!
how ya doing, haven't seen you for a while?
not too bad really, considering.... been a busy bee at work..... not had time for much else.... Babbke or otherwise....
well it's good to see you back in babbleland :)
good to be back :)
Wow, that qu is used readily. It's been fun.
16 qu words !?!?!
good lord I hadn't notice the quantity of qus!
But it is also used with the sq and in the middle of some words.
16 qu's is akin to having a k in the grid :(
There's also a fair number of the usual babblets.
I have 6 of the 16, so getting there :)
My phantom is tonnish
I just tried that one too Merk!
take out a cons for an acceptable word though
my phantom is torment :)
I think I am up to at least five words where the q is the third letter.
Hi. FIREWORKS!:-) If I've counted correctly, 'qu' is used in 34 words today.
Hi and congrats Jacs!
YAY Jacs, and 34 words !?!?!?!?!?!?! cor blimey !
Hi FM. It's a fun grid.
You can do it, Aussie!
only started a little while ago so the words are flowing nicely so far.
will have to be in 2 parts, because I have to go to work.....
12 words left, but I have to leave for breakfast with the girls. bbl
I'd better get back to my ironing, baking etc. Happy Babbling all. x
I missed yesterdays grid by 2 words, fell asleep just before the end of time....
By Jacs
the first ti and the last ti I was missing :(
You mean you can't Babble in your sleep, Aussie?? LOL

I am excited to tell you all: I received a post card from Tokyo yesterday. It was from my sister-in-law. And yes, it contains Chinglish!!!!
hi wolvie. Been to bust to play much lately. But like to check out the grid and say hi.
cool beans!
i haven't finished a grid in 3 or 4 days hego. this week doesn't bode well either, as I start baking in earnest tomorrow. :-)
I have 2 re 7's. une said there were 3. I have the needs one and the mighty qu** plural one - what one am i missing?
On the front is a picture of a group of monkies (apparently they have wild monkies Japan). On the back is written: "A lovely scene of Japanese monkey famiry." Below that: "Monkey Famiry".
I have been popping in and out for a few hours and and nearly finished but stuck on two words - re 7/44 and th 6/27. Can anyone help?
lol Judi
the re 7/44 would be the one i am missing anike, let me check on the th
nope - don't have that either. will look
The th is a number
th is a number. continuation of the th4/5
ahhh- ty anike

ty
It's very British, mom, I see it in novels all the time. It means sassy I think.
Like I said, crazy, right? But Taoist is not allowed. Go figure! Muslim would be allowed.
Hi Mich!
re7/44-a form of theatrical entertainment in which recent events, popular fads, etc., are parodied.
if you get sh6 you get annoyed
I read tons and tons, many, many british authors.. have never seen it.
Hi hego, everyone! I am not getting the re7 hint, pab.
I'm not saying its not a word, I'm just saying I have never heard nor seen it...
Me too mom
it's the definition, just google it Mich
I'm back; how's it going here?
me neither Mich... thought it was just me, LOL.
Hi merk, we're trying to get the re7
think it qualifies as archaic.
is it re + qu???
It reminded me of an alternate spelling for the person whose job it is to evaluate a book or movie again.
no, mom, it sounds like someone who critiques movies
ok...
No, there's no q. It's the other high pointer.
It has the vowel team in it that is the same for what a business man wears to the office each day.
ok... that clue did it... thanks Merk
Got it!! Thank you everyone. Fireworks!!
gfy anike
I\ve been gone googling and I still haven't figured it out....
I am now up to at least six words that have a 'q' for the third letter. Qu is used a lot today somehere in words.
Ah got it, it's the person that does that parody!
Me niether, mich
hello
Hi harp
Just found another one ... new to me.

See you tomorrow in between baking pies.
oooh, pies in the pb!
What kinds of pies? I have lots of words left...
good morning!
almost NBT in ten minutes. all excpt the pesky U - should it be obvious or are we in babblet territory?
I"m making irish creme chiffon and apple pies, plus I have one in the freezer--Schwann's key lime!
(so why am I gaining weight...:?)
the u is odd
clued at 8:34
tx - i think I'll lickety 1st

Bye all, I've got "fireworks"!@#$%^&*()_+

Having found that last RE word, it made me go into some choice Croatian and Hungarian curses!
they even take another word for your rear end
anyone have the ao6/18?
not now
hard to believe there's 10 7 letter words
ao6 - ends with suffix for one who believes something
(A Greek verb tense, apparently)
tyvm Vicuna
there are some jewish names in there that are accepted- starting with Y
my pleasure
hi all
nbt!

Good morning/afternoon all.
since i have nary a one I would gladly pay you thursday for a clue today
Hello, jmc!
hi haz
Hello, Haz!
I hope MPittore took no4/4 yesterday of the needlecase babblet for here it is again.
Hello, hello!
Oh, thanks, Haz. I hadn't seent hat yet.
eq7 - rings the globe
clue- it has to do with latitude and longitude
hu7 - like Attilla's peeps
Helllo everybody :)
re7 - need
Hello, Soodlebum.
to7 - monk's coif
There's a smattering to get you started, jmc.
Hello, Soodlebum.
Hope all the British Isles babblers are surviving the deluge....
It's kind of soggy, isn't it?
hola haz. :)
Time to invest in a raven and a dove?
a bit dampish, to be sure!
Hello, EvaN.
Hola EvaNadine!
140 to go
hi vicuna. :)
Go, aribomb, go!
Please note that the British Isles people are using understatement when it comes to the weather. Rain in abundance.
Don't tell me we need an understatement font now, too!
Reports of a chap gathering pairs of animals, and building an ark are getting through....
Soodle, Fermanagh seems to be the worst affected county in the North, the south looks even worse.
Understatement and tongue in cheek font are the newest offerings.
Not as bad as Cumbria - what a disaster for those poor people
I know, flooding has such long-term consequences.
thx
I have to pick up some dust masks and clean out my horrendous basement- brb
Hi all. Nice to see all the best people are here!
My goodness, if aribomb can clean out a horrendous basement and still be "right back" I am mightily impressed!
Hello, hego.
maybe
Hello hego! I've always said you were a woman of great taste and insight.
He may have exagerated
tx haz
I moved two boxes
hi hego and soodle

Sit down and have a rest Ari! You must be exhausted!! :)
brb
Hi Jmc
I updated my icon to today's them: my favorite color
Oh, I was going to do that, but I thought today was still Monday. Hmm... time to recalibrate the brain...
We'll miss your son
lol I am su4 he will be back at some point
He's a cutie!
Heyas kids ..
hi torg
Talking of cuties... hello torgone!
hey there tor
hey there tor hi everyone
Hello, peri.
Hi tor and wolvie
Haz, I just ordered a Bissell Sweeper from a catalog.
How nice of you to say haz .. Thank you
I mean peri.
hi wolvie and peri
Is it one of the non-electric ones?
tor, I started a scramble game with you last week. do you want to play?
yes, Haz
there you got me confused hego! lol
Hello tor, and peri.
They're handy for when you don't want to get the vacuum cleaner out.
Time to eat lunch. Goodbye, all!
yes they are very handy and it was one sale with free shipping!
I didn't know peri .. I'll play tonight if my interwebs is working ..
Bye, Vicuna, enjoy lunch.
I can always delete the scramble game, tor, no prob
Free shipping is always a bonus.
ok, tor
I always look to see if I save taxes too
also retairlmenot.com is a good website for coupons. I ordered a watch from Chico's and by going to this website and finding a coupon code I got 20% off the sale price!
the website is: retailmenot.com
I have a knitting question.
I'm glad it's not a sewing question.
What is your question?
just wanted to know if it is easier to learn to knot or to learn to crochet
learn to knit, even
peri- I learned to crochet as a little girl and now I can't seem to pick up knitting
I never learned to crochet, but I can knit, even though notoriously handless when it comes to sewing. Crocheting might be quicker initially in terms of producing things, but knitting would, I think, be more adaptable.
but my daughter learned to knit first and now she isn't having much luck with crochet
brb
I can't do either :)
Even with the two main stitches you can turn out lots of things, you can build up skill as you go along.
Did you not have to do knitting at school, Ata?
no!
I found a book in the library: Stitch 'N Bitch. Love the title. It has stitch by stitch instructions. several of my friends are knitters.
had to learn to sew though
We had compulsory needlework. I'd rather have done spellings.
Give it a go, peri, you might really enjoy it.
we had compusory needlework, but it was all machine sewing
would like to find a knitting clubgroup near me
Ata, thought you would like the title of the book I got from the library.
Machine sewing? Tut, tut, you mean you didn't have to learn chain stitch and blanket stitch and running stitch and all other forms of torture?
definitely :)
I have only knitted one thing. An afghan (sp) that I knit in strips and then my sister put them all together. I still have it. I made it many, many years ago
I had to learn those stitches Haz and barely gpt a passing grade in the class
That was the main thing I didn't like about knitting - having to stitch the pieces together at the end.
well I can do those too ... I can do fancy sewing, just not normal sewing
I love blanket stitching
haz now thinks I'm mad lol
Perish the thought!
When do you get your blood tests back, or at least the results?
just got them back. they are "satisfactory"
Satisfactory? You can't be smug about satisfactory, can you?
I'd be smug if I still didn't feel so rotten!
I took pup out for about 40 minutes this morning and could hardly stand afterwards
Satisfactory is what my PE teacher used to put on my report. It meant, this girl is rubbish but she gives me no cheek.
ditto!
Has the doctor any suggestions?
nope. I'm all fine! blood test says so!
Maybe it's just going to take time for the whole thing to work its way out of your system. The only time I had flu was in 2000 and it was a month before I felt like anything normal and I had a mid dose compared to many.
I'll give it a week ad go bug them again
It was so grim, flu is nasty.
I really hope so
It takes forever to recover from flu, Ata.
But you will.
it's *horrible*
yes, it is.
is 5 weeks already!
That's nothing, although it seems like an eternity.
I know *grumble grumble*
Think back to when you were at your worst. You're better than that, aren't you?
I just want to be able to walk the dog again properly!
I know. It's frustrating when you feel responsible for Hobbit as well.
There, there (she says in best nurse voice)
poor Hobbit, she's being so cooped up, and I hate it for her
That frustrated me so much when I had the back trouble and couldn't walk very far very fast. I felt sorrier for Spangle than for me.
But you will get better, you just will have to try to be patient and build up your strength.
same here, I can cope with being bleh, I just hate how it affects Hobbit
(I'm using soothing font. Is it working?)
just about :)
it's just so frustrating! I'm used to walking all morning with her! not 30 minutes and collapse!
Let's face it, Hobbit's life could be worse. She could be asked to sleep outside like some poor dogs.
Good work, Haz!
And she does have a purple collar.
she does :P
Thank you, hego. Dorens is my role model for soothing and all diplomacy work.
not Jac ;)
You're very good.
Thank you. I'm hoping to pass my Grade 1 in Adoption of Soothing and Concilatory language.
hah! just sat down to lunch, after trying to sort out nine argumentative nine year old girls, and read that!!! *feeling much better now*
'If I can help somebody as I pass this way. then my living shall not be in va4'
Hello, Dorens!
Pourquoi the French flag?
I think you've always exceeded in soothing language, haz.. french flag because a good friend of mine died recently, and his ashes are now in Aix-en-Provence, so it is my memorial to him (there were no services)
That explains it. I wondered if you'd taken a quick trip to France or something. It's a nice gesture.
I'd have loved to tell the superiors at school that I needed to fly off to Europe for a memorial service... would have done too... I adored him and miss him terribly. He is the one who called me Dorens
Adoption of Reconciliatory and Soothing Expressions
funny ata...
Don't think that I can't put together the initial letters, Ata!
*innocent*
i don't think so, ata.. not quite
Haz I still can't get the re 7 the show biz one. Can you clue me? tx
Yes, hego, I'll try.
is this grid another bear (there have been a few lately) or will I warm up to it?
re7 - sounds like someone who does a critique of a play or TV programme, but it's spelled different. It has the same ending (last three letters as the ao6, Greek tense)
No, Dorens, I liked this grid.
how silly
Ty, ty
You're welcome, hego.
Got it. tx again
Glad it helped.
Dorens, is this the friend who died recently, the one who told you he was ill but didn't really want to acknowledge it?
Or am I getting mixed up with someone else?
looks like you'll never know :P
I think she's deep in the grid.
think so!
no
Ooops.
Gail is disagreeing with us?
No, I am disagreeing with the doctor who just called and said I need shoulder surgery immediately. NO>
Bad doctor! Does he not know you have babble to think of?
Have you hurt yourself, Gail?
wow, I don't think I've ever seen 16 starting with Q before
Exactly. I have things to do. And I am still on crutches from the foot surgery.
Those surgeons just don't know when to stop.
There are a lot of qu words, and it's used a lot in other words, asl.
I look like frankestein already with all the scars.
No wonder you don't want any more.
yep haz, I was noticing that
hello babble friends! just a quick few moments to babble today during lunch
Hello, Trif!
hi trif
oh my goodness... Haz, I don't know you, but I had a weird dream last night and one of the people in my dream was named Haz. How bizarre is that?
hello! soft day here today
=)
That IS bizarre. Was I well-behaved?
Soft day = tipping it down.
well... yes... and you were a butler or footman.
Hello all, I need someone to kick my behind into gear and get on with my day! I'm in a major procratination mode.
I'd love to be a butler like Jeeves with a soothing tone and an answer for everything.
procrastination, even
the pillaging of my house has started, Haz - I didn't think it would bother me much, but in the end it rather did. But now that he is (mostly) finished, I am liking setting things up the way the kids and I might like. That has been fun!
Hello all
Babbz, I used to live in the Chicago suburbs, too. Hinsdale and Lagrange and Oak Park.
Right, babbz. I don't know why you think you have time to sit here. You have things to do!
LOL Now THAT's what I need!
Just think of it as decluttering, Trif.
Hello, Kaplan.
Gail I went to LT for high school
indeed, haz, indeed. and that is ALWAYS a good thing!
wow, we almost have tourniquet in the board. that would be a find!
Hi Trif! And Haz, while on holiday last week, I read 'Thank You Jeeves' - absolutely classic
I just went back to Hinsdale Central for my 45th reunion last year.
So, babbz, you have a list made for what you need to accomplish today?
This is better than yesterday- but I really shouldn't stay long. I just like to see how many I can get without clues
hey there soodle!
Soodlebum - P G Wodehouse was a genius. He has me in tears of laughter so often.
OMG Gail, my folks still live in what is now Burr Ridge but it used to be Hinsdale mailing address
I am the same way, kaplan. In fact, I sort of make it a rule not to chat until I am at least NBT,or least one away
I had forgotten how good the books were. And weren't Fry & Laurie just perfect for the parts?
and Haz - I have to grocery shop, clean my house, finish my work but I think I'm too overwhelmed so instead playing babble. There will be hell to pay later!
That area has changed soooo much.
fry and laurie were GENIUS in those roles!
I haven't gotten into the appeal of trying to finish, but I like to see how far I can go...
They were - I didn't see them first time around but have the DVD collection. I still like the books best, Wodehouse's descriptions are so good.
babbz, try setting a timer - set it for say, 25 minutes. Clean or do a chore till the bell goes off, and then babble for half that time, to reward yourself
Gail Im in Westchester, right near lagrange
repeat until finished
babbz, put down on the list the things you've already done, even if it's brushing your teeth. Bite sized chunks of activity (what's with my mouth obsession?) and you'll get through.
Wow, we lived in LaGrange for several year. I enjoyed seeing the area again last year.
Hi there marilyn, and haz that's a good idea - in fact, a great idea. Use this as a reward.
I bet it's changed, Gail
I hardly recognize it when I go back - I'm in Naperville
Lagrange is very charming, lots of boutiquey shops
reminds me of oak park
It's my adult ADD rearing its ugly head again, Haz - thanks for the good ideas
I like the towns where there is a nice downtown area
ok, here are some questions . when using the Q, must you use the U with it also? could you do a word that is Q not followed by U? Could you use the U next to the Q - so you could use the H, T, or R next?
naperville is very nice too, my son lives there
It's all huge mansions now. My little house is for sale for half a million.
really? Such a small world. Where about?
no, aslindy, and that has come up before. for example, once the word "qats" would have been possible, but I couldn't enter it, as the qu is linked
If you look, the Q is combined with the u on the tile. You have t ouse qu.
No lindy, the q and u must stay together.
i cant think right now exa tly where, he has a condo not far from the high school
ok, thank you for clearing that up.
Everything has dropped in value lately all over the chicago 'burbs
I don't get to come on here much. =(
....makes me wish I had a "qu" key on the keyboard!
oh mill i think , thats the street
Hello all. I worked 8-12 and return for evening hours from 5:30-8:30. So I have some time to Babble with my buddies!
that is a shame, aslindy - it was a delightful surprise to see your name today!
scrabbler!!! how are you, dear one?
Hello, Scrabbler!
sure, right by naperville north. This town just opened it's 4th high school this year...it's growth run amuck
well, thank you, Tri =)
I am tired--slept poorly last night and will try to nap soon.
hI sCRABS, hAZ, tRIF AND EVERYONE ELSE
scrabs - I am officially well! Wish someone would tell my body :P
sorry for caps
Hello bichon!
Well, you may have a minor virus occasionally, Ata
lucky you, scrabbler! today is nap-perfect weather here, but Primo and I are heading out to pick up my nephew at college. Primo is PSYCHED to get to see the campus, see his cousin, etc.
we have 2 daughters in college, one is graduating next month and had a thesis reading last night, and is also getting married next September. the other is in her second year of college
hi bichon and scrabs
Scrabs has H1N1 peaked? Is it true?
wow, it's all go with you, aslindy!!!!
so, we've been a little busy. =)
What college? I love college campuses--little microcosms and often with beautiful buildings
Holy Cross in Worchester, Mass
It peaked locally (Buffalo area) although I saw 2 teens with it this morning
Enjoy, trif!
Alma College, in Alma Michigan
My sister (kadresa) has one kid at Holy Cross and one at Boston College. We tease her no end, as we are Methodists....
Can anyone clue the qu6/27 and/or the qu5/16???
Both are excellent colleges, trif, as you know
Which qu6/27?
qu 5/16 sounds like to make the same, missing the first vowel.
Yes... I just saw where they were saying H1N1 had peaked.... hopefully it will stay away from here, LOL.
The first one adds a couple of vowels to the qu4/7
I have that qu5/16... there is one that is quo 5/16.
The concern is that the holiday get-togethers (Thanksgiving + Christma)s will lead to increased infection rates
phone - brb
The second one is a plural for qu5/16 - sounds and looks like metal money.
I'm hoping to get the vaccine soon. I'm 63 and have two underlying conditions
obviously there are a number of qu5/16... so let me be more precise, LOL.... the one I need is after the qu4/7 that sounds like a girl's name (the girl in Goodbye Girl... the one that played the kid... Cummings was her last name).
But you were likely exposed to a similar flu virus in the 70's and have some cross-immunity. H1N1 is particularly hitting kids, and pregnant women
OKay, the qu6/27 I think you need is French for four. The qu5/16 that precedes it takes out one letter just before the end.
I call my kid "typhoid Hannah".. she gets nothing, but I swear she carries it all... LOL.
TY for Q clues--I need 2 more but haven't looked at the list yet
Our University is giving it out to my age group, but only for on campus employees [I'm retired].
Yeah.. forget my qu's... I have all the ones you guys are clueing and, upon closer inspection, it looks like they are mostly 5/16s and 6/27s.. so forget it.
Whew. Fireworks. Nice grid today!!
Well done, Soodle!
And isn't it great that John and Edward are gone?
Happy to help if I can..............
I never even considered getting the vaccine. I'm not anti-vaccine... just thought they were making a lot of hoopla out of nothing... unless you are immuno compromised, of course.
Oh my, Haz. The shame of them!!!
I know. They were ghastly.
AS of yesterday the TV reports that adults over 65 are now eligible for the vaccine. But no clinics near us. Wil have to call my doctor
Also... I was sick as a dog last year for almost two weeks.. think I probably had it then!
hu7?
Now why would they accept the French word for four? Nuts!
Tthey want a music career now
I told my doctor once that I never get the flu [I am asthmatic]. He read me the riot act [including how I could be on a ventilator]. Since then I've gotten the flu shot regularly
They'll take the French word for three, as well, hego.
something to do with cards I think
The only way they'll have a music career is to have their stuff digitally enhanced etc. Not a note do those two have in their heads. Vicuna could do better.
di
How about 5 + 6? ;-)
Sorry, Enable couldn't master the accent beyond four.
enhanced? dubbed!
Congrats Soodlebum!
Yes, that as well. And body doubles for when they do videos.
btw, Haz thanks for the three word.
You're welcome, hego.
I got my H1N1 vaccine and heartily recommend it as well as the seasonal flu vaccine (has 3 new strains within it each year). 7 healthy kids ages 9-17 have died from H1N1 illness here since June, 5 in last few wks
help with re7/44 pls
help with re7/44 pls
And I know parents who are refusing it for their children
Okay, I must depart kitchenward to see about our evening meal. Nice to chat and I'll see some of you tomorrow.
bye Haz!
I've goot mine. Health care workers can't be too careful and you can put your family at risk also.
Bye!
I would rather get the vaccine than regret not getting it. A chance to boost the immune system is good.
Bye and tx, Haz
re7 sounds like someone who critiques plays etc.
Bye Haz
going to have my jab on saturday. seems to be adding insult to injury lol
The problem is that the barn door has been wide open for many weeks and the cows are loose. The H1N1 vaccine should have been available in August-Sept in order to save lives.
orafe
hu7?
Silly Hego
OOOOPS! sorry
An adjective for Atila
could at least slip with a real word.....
Well, Scrabbs... like you are saying... there is not enough out there and no one in my family fits the criteria for receiving it first.
I'll try BJ lol
LOL Brandy!
It is a public health failure, mom2
Think the H!N! bit me back in September
I was hoping someone would give me the right one. LOL
I could not agree more! I did inquire at the pediatrician's office... and they were laughing... because they call her Typhoid Hannah as well... she is like Teflon... never gets sick!
well, I am out of luck. My doctor does not plan to have the vaccine. Have to go to the Wayne County Health Dept. which holds its clines near downtown Detroit. That is 30 miles from me.
still not seeing the re7/44
not getting the attila clue, need another hu7 clue pls
Scrabs, is it true that if you are asthmatic you can Only have the shot and not the nose one?
peri, think of a word that can mean a show, then add the person ending
Think Atila.. and the jewish potato food minus the k....

Nasla flu vaccine is for ages 2-49 and without underlying medical problems
Aren't you glad you left work Scrabbs???
Haha, that's ok. I always like to make su4 people separate fiction/hype/emotion from facts
And we all appreciate your expertise!
*rubs eyes* brandyjack? wow, now theres a blast from the past... :)
Hi Eva
There is always misinformation or misinterpretation out there, particulary things scientific/medical...
I mean just look at the current Mammogram/Cervical cancer screening craziness. I really don't know what to make of all that. I hate to be pessimistic, but I wonder how much of that research is insurance company funded?
I know a pregnant woman who isn't having the vaccine because she wants to have a "grren" baby
BJ, thanks for doing the clue lists, especialy when lickety is vacationing
"green" even
Wow Bichon.
I would think she would opt for healthy over green, but that's just me.
yES, AND SHE'S GOING TO HAVE A vbac [VAGINAL BIRTH AFTER CAESARIAN] AT HOME.
sorry again for those caps <grrr>
if she wants a green baby, she better have had sex with an orion
Well, I hope she survives it all. Really I do. Seems a little foolhardy to me, but what do I know.
LOL hursh
Hi Hurshy
she's a daughter of a friend. Keeping my fingers crossed
Hi hurshy
It is everyone's choice to take risks. Pregnant women are being hit hard by H1N1, and any home delivery is risky, esp a VBAC
You wonder what gets into people sometimes. Well, hopefully all will go well.
i don't understand. how do you have a vaginal birth after caesarian? you can't put the baby back in...
Did anyone ever clue the ro7, 28?
Silly Hursh
LIckety's vacationing? He's not allowed....
She haw a lot of really weird ideas [she's part of the whole CA subculture].
Risk of VBAC = uterine rupture and then mom + baby could die
if the first doctor did the original ceasaren, she might get away with vaginal this time, but hell of a risk....
ohhh, a PREVIOUS CHILD
ro 7 /28 rhymes with a shellfish
I agree that it is one's choice to take risks, but mostly they affect other people. I know a guy who drives like a maniac when his kids are not in the car (this way there is no risk to them from his risky behavior)... but I am like, OK... but what about the other people on the road that you put at risk?
Tx Inge
It's everywhere, bichon--hands-off, natural approaches--home deliveries, no immunizations
MY SIL had a VBAC and it went fine... of course this was in a hospital setting.
and what about the risk to them of losing their dad??
hey, they're silly enough to be on the road 8)....
OOOHH... Good one Hursh... I never argued that one with him. Thanks.
Well, yes, one's risky choices do effect others
She originally planned a home birth for the first one [she also had bariatric surgery] but ended up at the hospital cause she went into labor 5 weeks early. They had to do an emergency section as the baby's feet were hanging out of the birth canal. She says it was the worst experience of her life so she's ging to refuse to go to the hospital this time.
I'm just saying that there are few risks that one takes that cannot have an effect on others.
So her fear is placing herself and her baby at risk!
WEll, that's sound reasoning. Blame the hospital for the bad experience.
All I can say is that my children have a lot more common sense than her.
I think she's intrigued by the idea of home birth and nothing is ging to separate her from that idea
hmmmm.. it sounds like she has no common sense at all! And is there really a doctor willing to assist her in this craziness?
She needs to be grateful for that stat C/S as it saved baby's brain and perhaps life
I am su4 it was the hospital's fault that the baby's feet were hanging out
No doctor, a midwife
probably a midwife
hi all
but when it comes to childbirth, there are those who are too extreme one way, but then, the system overall is a little too much the other way, in my opinion. i think a more european balance would be better - as the US does NOT have the top outcomes in this area.
Hi JM
I had a C-section and always felt that I "missed out" on some level... but, to be honest, I would never consider having a VBAC myself and certainly not at home.
I agree with hursh
True Hursh we do not... which is a sin, really.
But given her medical/surgical history this midwife is really taking a risk with her licensing should something go wrong.
even 25 years ago it looked like you had to choose between having the baby in a flower painted bus or under sedation at the hosp. with the doctor in control
My d.i.l had a VBAC this summer and had no problem. But she never would have considered it at home. Is it really worth it to put your ideals over the health of your child
my sister has had two babies now in a birth center located on the campus of a hospital. it's like a little house. they have huge tubs for water birth. the mother can move around and do whatever makes her most comfortable. midwives assist, and if anything goes wrong, the hospital is right there. since my sister has severe medical phobias, this has been a particularly valuable option for her.
my son was 12 lbs when he was born so I am grateful that c-sections existed
I'm not even sure the midwife has a license. It might be a dula
Nothing wrong with the VBAC... its all the other stuff in this particular case.
birthing centers are great options for the non-complicated pregnancy.
then the dula is putting herself in a position for criminal charges
JMC... I was just going to say that!
Bye bbl. going for a manicure.
I am good friend with her dad. Her mom died a few years ago and I think if she were still alive, she'd beat some sense into her.
brilliant minds, mom
she was saying recently that it is hard for her, with her very positive experiences, to fathom that most women in the US give birth in a very different way.
I had looked into a birthing center.. but I was insulin-dependent gestational diabetic... so the risks were really too high, in my opinion. They are great options though!
LOL jmc
bye hego!
bye hego
A friend of mine used a birthing center.... ended up having some complications... so they wheeled her right to the hospital wing...
I was trying for the all natural thing but was very happy when the kid turned out so big that I was at a hospital
it is unfortunate that birthing centers are not more common and that hospital boards see them as more risky even though reports in places such as the new england journal of medicine indicate that that is not true. they considered shutting down the one my sister uses due to worries about risk (of course the risk they are worried about is financial), but luckily a grassroots campaign has kept it open for the present.
there are 16 Q words?!?!?!
Whatever gives you peace of mind JMC.
Yes... its a happy day jmc.
Birthing centers are great, as long as they are close to a hospital. My cousin's daughter gave birth in a hospital and she had [unknown at the time of birth] placent acrecia [where the placenta grows into the uterus, very rare]. The doctor saved her life and her uterus. Wouldn't have happened anywhere else but in a hospital
The birthing centers that I looked into were both affiliated with hospitals.
birthing centers at hospitals are a good balance
So, maybe not "true" birthing centers in the European sense, but they seemed like the best of both worlds.
Hackensack University Medical Center has one, as does Valley Hospital... both local and well-rated.
The only thing I have to admit was a little off-putting, at least for me, was that anyone in your family could be there... I was not sure I wanted anyone just traipsing in and out, LOL.
Obviously these types of facilities exist more in areas like mine... probably harder to find in more remote areas.
for most women, of course, the desire for "natural" is an ideal but not necessarily a top priority. for my sister - i'm not sure if she would have had kids if she hadn't had the birth center option. for instance, many women think they don't want epidurals but then change their minds and it helps them. but my sister, with her medical phobias, was not a case like that at all. it's like if i was in labor and you said to me, ok, just hold this snake now and your pain will all go away - that would be a major NO THANK YOU. she is that phobic about anything medical.
Some hospitals refuse to do VBAC's. I think that's wrong.
OK.. my ADD and my Carpal Tunnel have kicked in... cannot concentrate or type anymore, LOL...
Well, bichon, I am sure that is all about liability.
okay gotta go write thank you no4s bbl

Kris, where in MA do you live" Wht might be your next door neighbor.
**waves to everyone** Hey Babble Family !

Hi Aussieme
Hi Auussie
Hi aussie
Good Evening Min... Lovely to see you.....

I am in Arlington Heights.
we're neighbors, wht
werdynerdy is in Arlington
I just spent 10 minutes trying to monkey an obvious number in the grid...sigh
It's a popular place.
nice place, Arlington
Inge, are you our neighbor?
ok, tackling the tos
HI folks.
Hey Jacs :)
No, I am in MIchigan. But you and wht are only 3.5 miles apart
Hi Aussie. Lovely to see you again.
we probably shop in the same places
Lovely to be seen :)
Hi Jacula
brb, just got to answer my sister on FB, she just sent me a message..... hold that thought :)
Probably. Do you come over to the Trader Joes?
no, but I could...:)
Hi KrisE. Tackling the tos. You sound like a chiropodist. LOL.
Hi Jacula. were you or any babblers in that rain delluge area?
I'm a ri4 today (ha ha )
Hi inge - everywhere's been deluged with rain, including here, but I think you're referring to Cockermouth?
Does anyone have clues for the to6's?
Cumbria (where Cockermouth) is has been very badly hit. Babbler Hydra's sister lives in the Lake District and it's not looking good there tonight.
do you have the to 5/16 with the high pt tile in it?
got one --to6 sort of like 2000lbs
to6.21 - comparative for tone.
I have the 5/16. Does it extend?
to7/32 - monk's bald spot.
if you have the aforementioned jsut add a t
and plural it for the 7
thanks, Inge!
to6.24 is one of the 34 words in today's grid that uses the 5-point tile.
Hello Aussieme! Sorry I missed your entrance before.
She's nipped off again, Min. LOL
Thanks. I got both of them and the 7 as well.
Oh darn!I missed Aussieme! Hello Jacula! How are you
I kept trying the r but it didn't work.
Now I just have 3 tr's and 2 tu's
Hi Min. I'm okay, thanks. Just listening out for rampaging fox cubs. I thought they were knocking the fence down AND trying to steal the car whilst they were play-fighting at 1.20am the night before last.
thee are three lookalike to 4 words, each ends with a diff. vowel
go wht - right behind you
tr6/18 - French for 'sad' but sounds like a romantic meet-up.
tr5.10 - French for 3.
tu5.18 - another of those 34 words that uses the 5-point tile.
Got the trs
tu4.6 - USA word for your derriere/bum.
I hear wolves off in the distance at my house Jacula.
ok, am back, and crying.... can I share something with you all (ps, they are happy tears)
th6 - one and a half score
tu4/5 - tu + 'exists'.

LOL wht. Well done anyway.:-)
Congratulations wht on your fireworks!Good for you!
My Sister is getting married next year (October 19th) and has asked me to be her chief bridesmaid (called Matron of Honour here, because I am married...)
yes - woohoo wht
How lovely Aussime!
But thats not why I am crying
So it is a black New Zealand honey eater. Is there something sweet in the PB?
same titiles as in the US
Aussie - that's lovely! I've never been either a bridesmaid or a matron of honour. I envy you.
I am crying because of the lovely message she left me in my book on Facebook
Which was?
message is....
Used to ALWAYS be the bridesmaid&NEVER the bride.
to my darling sister mandy, you cannot imagine how i would feel if you was,nt there playing a big part of my wedding seeing as you have been a big part of my whole life what made you think i would,nt want you there i love you and i always will because your my big, little sister you,ve always been there for me as i have been there for you and i always will be, and the answer is yes i would love it if you would do my wedding album for me. roses are red, violets are blue, i will always love you, forever and always. ps I Love you to infinity, AND BEYOND TOO
lovely
so, I answered......
To my Sweet Alexandra, I wouldn't miss your big day for the World, it was just that I am just so honoured that you chose me to be such a huge part of it. Yes, I will do your hair, yes, I will help with your make-up, yes, I will help with the flowers, yes, I will be your Matron of Honour. You have been my Sister for the longest, you have played a major part of my history, and I will always want you in my life. I cannot imagine my World without you in it, ever. I am sitting here, crying into my keyboard, thinking of you being so happy, and being able to share in it. I hope with all my heart, that your future is bright, and that the past is well and truly in the past. You start a new chapter of your life, and I am glad to help in the start of it. I love you more as each year passes, a little more than the year past, and a little less than the year to come.... I want to ask if I can do the first toast at your reception, if you will allow me that..... God Bless you both... Love Always...... Your Sister eternally.... xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
how lucky you both are to have each other!
I am floating right now,
That's lovely, Aussie.xx
Min - being 'the bride' ain't always that great! However, let's not let pessimism ruin Aussie's floating moment.
My hubby was a freelance photographer in the past, so she has asked him to take the pictures.... so its a real honour....
Aussie, I asked for something sweet and you provided in spades.
wht - she certainly did! I needed cheering up tonight and Aussie's done it.
I have been a Bride, Bridesmaid and now Matron of Honour next year, talk about having my cake **Babble, calorie and sugar-free cake) and eating it :)
thanks for letting me share my happiness :)
So, Aussie, you won't be partaking of the wedding cake? LOL.

now, what I need to do is find the other 117 words in the grid :)
Iam impressed and happy for you, Aussieme, Now i need to retire though. Gute Nacht, babblers

Go Aussime go

Aussie - I, too, have shared sadness and, unfortunately, bitterness on here. It's a great group of people we have here.

what - LOL. Yes, that would be very useful.
rofl.... I had my share of the Penalty Box.... too many times :)
**rewinds T word sentence**
Though, having said that, some of the 'Oops's are very amusing. Why is it that 'rude' words not only end up in the chog but often in UPPER CASE?
so you don't miss them.
who knows Jacs...
Over the years I have seen mild-mannered and maybe religiously devout Babblers enter by 'shouting' something rude at us. LOL
lol.....
Their mortification is hilarious.
