hi and nbt
predicting browser crash in 5, 4, 3 ...
hello josh
hang on josh
so far so good - my browser usually crashes when i try to chat
maybe now that it knows you are wise to it it won't happen any more
spoke too soon- there it was, just a bit slow this time
oh well at least you're back
i've got the routine of bringing the browser back up down pat by now, unfortunately
could it be your faster than lightning nbt finds?
i think it's probably a lot less interesting than that
something to do with firefox extensions
probably so
I'm still using safari don't ever have a problem with it ( knock on wood )
but then I move at a snail's pace
safari is pretty stable, but i need those specific little tweaks that i can get with firefox
I'm sure I only use about 10 percent of my computer
well, few people do any better than that with their own brain so you're doing alright, i say
I was just thinking that lol
it always takes me a slow, careful type to get the ai5/6 right
slippery little word lol
getting worried about jilli
why's that?
she left awhile ago to get some cough medicine and don't think she's back
she may have taken it
or she's cleaning the kitchen
I'm going now too say hello if she comes back
byebye, will do
Just got back -- was sidelined trying to set up Windows Live Messenger
dang, just missed west, I guess!
hi josh
well, I'm off to bed -- nobody here now, I guess.
Morning Babble land, am I here by myself?
No, there are others.
Okay, there's me.
Good morning Haz, how nice to see you :)
And you! Is the weather behaving itself?
It is so mild this morning I have the patio doors open.
It's so strange, isn't it? First frosts and now this!
Mind you, it's not as mild as that here, but the sun is shining.
Had a handyman come round at 8.30 to quote me on a c ouple of jobs that need to be done like rebuilding my office desk and moving the sitting room around so was up with the lark this morning.
And were his quotes okay?
The weather is just sxo out of kilter right now.
£40 for 2 hours work sounds fine to me and saves me a great deal of effort.
That sounds pretty good. It's always nice to find reliable tradesmen, isn't it?
yes indeed and the next trade coming in is the ariel man - I might have a working TV by the end of today! Strange not to have had one for a week.
You'll have missed 300 episodes of Cash in the Attic.
I really missed the TV for the first couple of days but now I don't apart from the news. LOL re yr comment.
I know, it does tend to be a habit to turn it on even if there's nothing that you particularly want to see.
Will you get the shopping channels now? You don't want to miss last minute bargains for Christmas.
very true, and listening to local radio stations has been much fun and informative.
Urgh don't mention Christmas am so not ready for that yet.
3 weeks today.
You have another of your Christmas demos coming up soon dont you?
Next Wednesday. Gulp.
I will be doing all my xmas shopping on line this year. You will be great HAz!
I haven't done any shopping at all yet, not so much as a Christmas card. I do this every year, I think I just like to frighten myself.
xmas demo?? hello FM & Haz
It's probably me rebelling against the shops putting out their Christmas stuff in August, I refuse to join in.
LOL, I have bought the cards and had every intention of getting them done whilst at the hotel but time just ran away.
I suppose writing cards in the jacuzzi might have been tempting fate a tad.
Hello, lynxxx!
Just listening to the pair of ring doves cooing to eachother in next doors garden.
Well guess I had better get on and do some more sorting and organising, lovely to see you and speak anon.
Lynxxx, I feel as though I've been doing this same Christmas demo for years. All about table settings, flowers, napkins etc.
bye FM
See you later, FM.
Oh and hello lynxxx sorry almost missed you there
TTFN
I've done it in various Woman's Institutes and church groups, this next one is a fundraiser for the school hockey club, which, given my history in the game, is deeply ironic.
What was that movie about village with perfect housewives?
Calendar Girls?
Or are you thinking of the Stepford Wives?
I'm very impressed! and so must be everyone else of they keep asking you to do it
Stepford Wives, not that I ever saw it.
It seems to go down well, I keep thinking 'That's the last time' and then I get another phone call....
My whole thing is not that you have to go over the top, just simple ideas on how to dress the table, starters etc.
I had to laugh at a newspaper report for a recent WI meeting. They had a visitor from the local environmental health department who gave, apparently, a very informative talk on what and what not to put in the various recycling bins that the council provides.
Compared to that, I suppose the odd Christmas bauble must seem like light relief.
Certainly would - they should have saved the other talk for after Xmas when people want to recycle unwanted Xmas presents
I know - or else had a kind of swap shop.
Is there an equivalent organisation in Australia for the Woman's Insitute? A monthly meeting for women, lots of them do incredible handicrafts, they have demos, take part in competitions etc. It's a very good social network for lots of women.
Oh yes - a very very active Country Women's Association
Nothing similar on the main cities - that I am aware of anyway
That's good - I've never been a member but any time I've visited, I'm always impressed by the friendships and the levels of activity. You can be as involved as you want to be, some enter competitions all the time, others just turn up for the monthly meeting.
What about your Christmas preparations, lynxxx? Are you further along than either FM or me?
I was always very impressed by my mother who retired down 'the bush' and got into all the traditional womens crafts later in life. She organised a large and active quilters group on the island where she lived and appeared to involve nearly every woman on the island as far as I could see
I'd have been the one in the kitchen making the tea while the others quilted.
Christmas?! its at least 3 weeks away isn't it. I've worked out who we are having for a small lunch, that's about it
Yes, three weeks - there's ages.
3 weeks and a day. LIke I said, ages.
I always laugh at the magazines which interview various women on their countdown to Christmas. Uppermost on their mind is what they're going to wear on Christmas Day while they waft around looking gorgeous. That's the least of my thoughts, I can tell you.
Do you do the tradional Xmas dinner? I still like it but my husband always pushes for seafood which given our weather is probably sensible
We always have turkey etc but I usually have a light starter and not Christmas pudding, since nobody here is that keen on it.
I love the Xmas pudding! I think everyone just likes the sixpences - even if they can't keep them
And not a brussel sprout in sight, again not many of us are fond of them so the mountains of them in the supermarket are quietly ignored.
don't forget the nutmeg with the brussel sprouts
I think brussel sprouts get a bad press over here because lots of women used to kill them with boiling rather than leaving them with a bit of bite.
I made a recipe for turkey stuffing last year which was truly delicious - sage, walnut and dried fig
It sounds good! I do mine with lemon and orange zest and grated apple to keep it moist. There are probably infinite variations.
Maybe I could do a talk on stuffings.....
http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/0 01520.html
http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/0 01520.html
here's the link if you would like to look at it
I've got it up now. I'd have to adapt it for a walnut hating husband.
The figs and cranberries sound good - very complimentary to the turkey.
lol - I forgot. Did you ever make that apple cake with the baking soda. I gave a recipe to a cake making friend and she os not allowed to stop making it - everyone loves it!
*flop*
No, I never did, although I do have the recipe copied down. Thanks for reminding me, I must try it.
That soap powder is in the grid again
hi Ata! how are you feeling
However, I've realised the time - must go as RDA is on this morning and I'm going to be late unless I get a move on.
Ata, you'll get a complex, every time you appear, I head off. It's not deliberate, honestly!
sure ....... :)
Bye Haz
(Darn, she can read lying through my teeth font)
bye dear!
and hi lyn!
Bye! Nice to see you lynxx and only for a minute Ata.
oh no, the pseudo alveoli word is in the grid
tough grid - but have that one at least
if only there was an N by the IO
greek epic poems
that one is soooo tenuous
wish I could stop seeing eversion
oh yay! my favourite polychaete
geekgeekgeekgeekgeekgeekgeek
who are you calling names Hursh?
ata :)
it is one thing to know what a polychaete is, it is a whole other story to have a favourite!
:):):) *happy*
lol
why are you awake?
dunno. stupid brain.
i try to babble myself back to sleep.
how annoying!
i took another pill so hopefully that will help.
you need a trio of purring kitties to lull you
but this is their stalking about time :(
that's cats for you!
yep
giving up for now, 60 left for later. Bye Ata & Hursh
Good
you need a nice loyal dog
bye lyn!
and welcome zooz :)
good morning all.
oh not sure what happened there..lol
hiccups ??
quite an entrance :)
*been pondering* the ne6 is my joint fav polychaete actually, along with _Arenicola_
you're so smug.
*smug*
how#'s husband? has he got his test results backyet?
he doesn't even get to go see the kidney specialist til the 21st
urf, I thought he was getting something earlier than that. what a lovely christmas present for him
he just had the CT in which they said it was not a cyst, nothing since.
it likely means another surgery but he should be fine in the end at any rate.
yay :)
did they find a way to do the thing for your sister that they couldn't do before cause her veins were too flat?
nooooo *facepalm*
so what's her overall status at this point?
deteriorating! her blood counts keep dropping, in a week or so she's going to have to be readmitted as an emergency
:(
and what will they do for her then?
I wrote a VERY snotty letter to her surgeon yesterday, so we'll see if that helps
oh yes, snotty letters always help
what they should have done all along, get her on the op table and find a way to transfuse her. But now they'll be bound to do it cos it'll be an emergency whereas it was just urgent before
writing letters to drs is where I rejoice at being able to sign myself Dr Becky
but what if they still CAN'T? or do you think they really were just that bad the first time?
they *will* be able to do it, somehow. the problem is that the ways they *could* get a line into her are quite likely to kill her on the op table
so obviously they don't want to do that
but soon, they'll be forced into it
obviously!
so how is she handling it and how are you handling it?
she's unamused in the extreme!
how very british of her.
what else can she do?!
nothing, i guess, i just wondered if she's scared, depressed, resigned...
all of those ...
she's very stoic
*sympathy*
meant to be seeing her at the weekend
well i hope you will be at least a temporary cheering influence
not really sure I should go up. if my body can't cope with an hour and a half's dog walk, how will it fare with 6 hours driving and looking after a demanding patient!
mmm... good point. i didn't realize it was so far.
well, 3 hours each way :)
ah, right.
more like 4 with a stop halfway
maybe you can go next weekend.
next weekend I'm being a geek all weekend and cataloguing seaweed :P
just like in sanditon
could go the weekend after
well, what about christmas?
I think this weekend will be fine, as long as I take it easy
and if I just chill out today
perhaps
I'll just wait and see tomorrow :)
sounds like a plan
if in doubt, procrastinate
indeed
Any clues for the O above the Z ? It's oi6/18, and it's haunting me ...
more greasy
Got it ... looking in the wrong direction. As soon as you ask for a clue, the bloomin' thing pops up.
yes, that's called pulling a peri.
Does it happen to her?
a lot :)
always
Goodnight all/ I'm awa' to ma wee bed.

no comment on cute sailor boys. Love it when the USA boys pull into shore at Melbourne which happens so little
I think if I launched a paper airplane, it would blow right over to you, ardilla! I am very, very glad I had those trees taken down in the spring, or they would be in my living room right about now!
i'm glad that i live on the second floor
at least it's raining - don't have to shovel rain!
Clue for the 8 plz
Trifs that is what boys are for snow shovelling
I don't think anyone has it yet movie
boy is at school, herin!

ra 8/40
let's get back to ardilla - what is new love like, how did you meet, etc - we all have to live vicariously through you, at this point....
ta kate
well, we had been friends for a couple of months, met at a friend's house (he works with her hubby) and apparently we both liked the other but didn't know it (everyone did)
night all
so i was taken back when he asked me to go the Navy Ball with him (didn't know whether it was a date or not)
have a good day and Ardilla you do look lovely in that pic
bye lady *hug*
Bye herin
he was as nervous as i was about disappointing the other
bye and ty herin
once we realize that we liked each other and was scared about messing up the friendship, we laughed and became a couple that night
hugs
nice start, ardilla
he is very sweet to me and makes me very happy; he helps me clean my apt and we talk about everything
thanks Kateq, found it
ardilla, he's a keeper
he wants to take me to Tennessee to see a football game with him and buy the jersey of the team
i maybe meeting his dad and brother this summer
i concur

my son graduated from TN GO VOLS
we plan to climb Mt Fuji this summer
congratz EJean!
hi EJ...that's his team
They are INSANE about their football in Tennessee :-)
Hi Jean
hi annie, everyone
i agree...i giggle at how excited he gets about a game
titmen but no lipmen?
before my son started school there, he was neverous because he wouldn't understand them (the southern accent)
and now he has been living in China for 2-1/2 years....funny and ironic
he loves to just cuddle until i fall asleep and wants to cook for me (he is the first person I have cooked a meal for...it was breakfast
that is very ironic :)
Knoxville is a nice city and the smoky mts very beautiful
he teases me when my Georgia accent comes out
no haymen either, sigh... hi all
i've only visited Nashville
this is so sweet, ardilla! I am so happy for you!

sorry, hy5 +
thanks - i clearly WAS missing something obvious ;)
yw pinny
greetings! i swore i would not do another puzzle this week but... here i am.
welcome back jmb - babble seems to do that to all of us
good morning all
does anyone have the final la5?
good morning Pini - can you still see that beautiful moon in the west?
it's too foggy here, flosey :(
ah, it's still shining into my office window, clear as a bell
ohhhh, and looking east, see a beautiful red sky
I've been listening to the radio this morning and the fog has contributed to a number of accidents this morning (or at least the drivers are blaming the weather for their driving shortcomings)
pink - i hate that no one is ever responsible for their own actions
You'd think fog was a new weather condition...
...but if the temp is below 35F and visibility is reduced...you
right sg and pini, you'd think they could slow down just a bit - perhaps arrive no more than 5 minutes later!
you'd think people would adjust
I use to think that when drivers just had to pass each other on the highway down into Toronto - don't believe they gained more than 5 minutes if that
it's rather frustrating, especially for those of us who tend to be better drivers and adjust as needed...getting there in one piece is incentive enough for me!
hello
for sure pini - and less stressed
morning phaeton
hi phae
oh, dobie...speaking of getting places on time (work); still have a job?
so far as i know...
I found if I left the house 5 minutes earlier, I could beat the rush and arrive in time to sit and enjoy a second cuppa coffee before work
(at least I think it was you who remembered you were working yesterday)
(or maybe it was "jim")
the western sky is now turning pink, so beautiful this morning
Yep - i work 5 days... i babble 4 - 5 days
Wish I could enjoy with you, flosey...but it's dark, grey, and cold
you're catching up with the rest of us, dobie!
(oh, and congrats on going pro)
pini - going pro??
i'm doing badly with the biggies. :( what does the 8 start with?
nevermind, dobie...I'm behind times...
ra8
ra8/40
thanks, got it!
wtg hursh
and for 7's, i've got di, ha, and he - any guidance towards any others would be most appreciated :)
having trouble with ma6, any clues, please?
I gather its a common word?
no, it's not a common word, i just was trying the simpler version of it earlier and so i thought maybe... it's french.
ma6 insane males
ma6 = angry + big boys
hy7 hurshy
tyty Pini - was starting with wrong M
li7x2
clue for the Y?

Last two - he 7/40 and he 5/20 - clues please

Sounds like a beautiful sunrise flosey. I am surrounded by trees so I miss them. And moonrises. they are so stunning
hi phaeton. Are you in a good location weatherwise today?
yep, going to be 66 today
Lucky you, 19 here this morning.
13 °F (-11 °C) Wind Chill: -1 °F (-18 °C)
Hi BR!
happy babbling. I am off to work (but wishing I were Pini and could stay home, only without the sickness......)
yea, hopefully the only snow I see is my icon :)
Hello

does anyone have a clue for ve6, have been struggling with this one far too long
ve + prominent durante feature
lol BR, tyty
I loved Jimmy D
Mrs Calabash wherever you are

I'm sad I missed the big meeting they had in the office yesterday! apparently there were some "fireworks"!

Uh oh, Pini. Probably best that you missed it.
pamper(s)
ty br
ep 7 sounds like a geological period

I'm trying to monkey it out ... french sp.
Ah. Ty, Flosey.
ok so i need ma and ar... and was something saying there were two he7?
ty BR
ar 8 -- part to be and facial feature
thx BR :)
I have only one he 7 and it's a plural
doh! i know that babblet.

flosey listed 2 he - was that a typo?
hey, i monkeyed the ma!
ma 7 - -road ragers, for eg
yes hurshy, only 1 he7 and it isn't a plural, it's a more so!

There is only one he 7.

elvis costello had a song about a girl with this name apparently
M + (SOUNDS LIKE) _____ __ wonderland
James Stewart and June

German measls

Das cooties!

finally monkeyed out the ra8 ... thanks to you all.
ah thanks
28 to go. Stomach growling. To early for lunch. *Ponders eating stapler*
merk...did the stutter help??? ;)
Ar7?
that's why i always eat a pb & banana sandwich for breakfast. i never get too hungry before lunch.
ar + vowel + what's in the center of your face
Ty, rbud!
I had oatmeal, cantalope and coffee. You'd think I wouldn't be hungry. Habit, I guess.
pb + banana sandwich for breakfast ... hmmm ... an intersting alternative to my usual oatmeal.
yw!
Oatmeal stays with me until lunch, too, but I'm always intersted in new ideas.
right now, PB&J sounds really good!!!
I like honey on my pb sammies
You are feeling better, Pini
i like to make it with martin's potato rolls - the hotdog shape - so that i can just stick the banana in whole.
I'm sure Crossy puts bacon on his pbs.
It sounds good...just hope the rest of me thinks so, too ;)
Like Elvis.
Martin's potato rolls ... that is a new one to me. Never heard of them.
Have any snow, Merk?
*stomach growls more*
Yes, it is snowing right now ... and blowing ... nice to be inside babbling with y'all.
ok ok, judi...I'm going to make something...brb ;)
Hursh, what are Martin's potato rolls?
they are potato rolls made by a company called Martin's.
borborygmi
A company that is not in the midwest US. I understand.
I remember people making bread with the potato water
Merk, check out: http://potatoroll.com/pages/products.a sp#
What would I do without all of you here to educate me.
Pooh on potato rolls. Bland. Boring.
do they come in 12-grain?
And you sent me that web site to make my stomach growl, too. They look good.
lol, rbud. They come in potato flavor. White bread with a slight yellow tinge.
Martin's Famous Whole WheatPotato Bread
they're based in PA - write to them and tell them you want distribution in your area :)
sun's up, beautiful day ahead, heavy frost last night
we are supposed to have snow tomorrow. a rarity for Houston
i love potato bread/rolls because if you like soft squishy bread, you don't want to eat the non-nutritious white bread, and potato bread actually has a lot of nutrition - as much or more in some ways than whole wheat!
potatoes in general are really surprisingly packed with nutritious stuff.
And their whole wheat potato rolls would be the best of both worlds.
But if they are from central Pennsylvania, how do you get them where you live, Hurshy?
i'm only a poser brit :) i actually live in NEW england.
done
And they deliver them way up there?
well, they at least deliver them in CT RI and MA, i haven't checked the northern states
congrats, phaeton
What's the name of that CT grocery chain that carries everything and then some ... Stewart or something or other.
WTG, Phaeton
yay, phae!!!
Hi babble buddies!
ty...happy babbling everyone!
42 left - taking a break from babble to work lol
there's a stew leonards, is that what you mean? i get them at walmart, stop & shop, wherever.
Stew Leonards ... that's it. I've shopped there passing through CT and what tempting stuff. So now I have to go to a Walmart here and see if by some fluke, they have Martin's potato rolls.
and if they don't find the manager and ask him to look into stocking them! or your grocery store! that's how things happen!
Well, back to the grid or I'll be here until lunch time when I really will be hungry.
my mission is to get the world eating pb & banana on a roll for breakfast! :) oh and use the smart balance peanut butter, it's a healthier choice!
gotcha
where are all the L's? trying and trying but still only have 10 of them
they are very vowelly
3 la, 3 lo, the rest Li
and most of the Li's have another vowel as the third letter.
does anyone have the la5?
insert vowel in fourth position of la4 (dalai ____)
ty
it is so crazy, the last couple of days were reasonably cold, and then today it's like it's may 3 instead of december 3!

Sorry y'all. I didn't mean to intrude. Austinite are peeps and Austonian is a building. Just voting with y' all!
Hi M!M!

hmmm if we are talking about Texas is suppose I should chime it
Texans always do
as long as you aren't going to insult it, then by all means chime in!

I have every right to insult Texas as a native Texan
we are always there for each other
only the weather
Where you are JMC?
in Washington, DC
crossy turns up the heaters amother notch:(
where from TX?
But will be coming to Austin in a couple of weeks to probate my mother's estate
I am from Houston.
Oh, I can understand why you moved!
Its amazing how it is all the same state but soooo different!
shoot i like Houston a lot more than Austin
too funny Cassi
why is that?
Austin is all hat
ya notice? Texans say "shoot"
Austin is awesome!
we follow through with our actions too, MM!
well that is what makes horse races cassi

Wow. Thx!
i've been playing for a couple of years and this is the first time i've seen my name in the grid :)
The ve6? I have GOT to do some work!!
mn Well done IMJ
Lisa :)
clue for the first AA word please
aa + consonant + 2 more vowels!
think Forty Thieves with an extra at each end

ty
Indeed it is
ve6 ve & its as plain as the **** on your face
Goodness! this is ruining my life!
ai 5&6
not ruining...look at it as enhancing your vocabulary!
hello again - back for 25
That y is ruining my life ..
ya5 = ya + big boys
hi Ursh & Tor
Like the noodle
Thanks Pini .. I was all around it ..
ai & h***er than thou
Pini-- it's enhancing my vocabulary at the cost of my heretofore sterling professional life!
ai5/6 is the garlicky mayo
yummy
my stellar professional life has been enhanced slightly due to vocabulary increase...
So tell me, when do you find TIME to work??
I'm at home sick today! :)
i'm back with 42 left
Ah well--at this rate I will be too pretty soon.
otherwise, I babble in the evenings after work :)
Very grateful for Morewords today
wb dobie...
i don't get the garlicky mayo
hi lynxxx
did you see my clue Pini?
thanks pini - i just found a bunch of easy 4 letter words that i just couldn't see before - jeez
lieve
scrolling back
meant believe i am going crazy!
not getting that one either, lynxxx ;(
hi all, glad to be back after long fruitless software battle that wiped out Babble Expert! (I reloaded it easy)
oh no, gwen!!! glad you're back !
hi Gwen
i already hate this grid.. i have already locked myself out of the house today.. had to go to my daughter's school and get her key, LOL... she LOVED that! Anyway, thought I would come here and relax... not so much!
ai & ***ve oil
here I was, home sick for the day, lying down in peace and quiet, and babbling between catnaps...but NOOOOO, some neighbor is banging on something and the noise level is extremely annoying :(
hi mom!
thx lynxxx!
Isn't that like the sauce they use for calamari appetizers?
hi Mom
Hi Pini... and yes it is.
Hi lynx
Funny Gwen I also lost expert today - antivirus said it had a trojan
you are having a worse day than me, mom2han8!!
OK.. so my daughter just texted me. I am never going to live down locking myself out of the house, LOL...
ursh, yup, Avast is ruining everyone's day
oh right Avast it was
She forgets her keys all the time and I am forever yelling at her... so I guess I deserve it, LOL.
i always keep a copy of the installation software when I get software, so if it hiccups or whatever, I can re-install it without too much fuss
I keep a spare hidden in my car now ;)
Major Avast bug. A tech sent me a link about a bulletin board where they're talking about it
I actually left them at work... I take the bus, so I could not easily go back and retrieve them. Stupid.
Tx Gwen now I know
estimate i wasted 8 hours yest and today on thei stinking avast bug. OY
so sorry to hear, gwen
I think I am going to come back later... I taped Rudolph last night.. I just might watch it all by my lonesome!... happy babbling all.
BBL need some breakfast
enjoy, mom!!
I will... *poof*
hb lynxxx
thanks, pini. i run an online biz so it's *almost* par for the course
It's amazing how technologically dependent we've become? ;)
er...isn't it
i prefer to think of the net as a really big telephone. phones have never been without faults and bugs
good point, gwen ;)
jmc - did you finish?
It's like phones except every line is a party line ..
so, who here is using wifi? i'm not and i keep hearing how hard it is to get a connectin using wifi. might have to switch to sifi though
I use wifi occasionally...
...it depends on where I am and if I want to get "online."
assuming you're at home and you want to be online all day. is it as reliable as a hard line?
It depends on if you're piggy backing off an unsecure line (like a neighbor) or if you've established your own secured network.
Assumi9ng you are talking about your own wifi router and not some municpal wiMax scheme, it works very good.
okay, so assume i'm paying an ISP and all that. then it's pretty reliable?
ah, ty brandy
yes, gwen...you just need to set up your own wifi (i.e., with the router that BJ suggested)
The only exception is in older houses with plaster and lathe walls. Some plasterers use a wire mesh as the top layer and it kills wifi and 2.8Ghz wireless phones
i need to shop for a new ISP. my current ISP is evil incorporated. in fact they slammed my ISP !!
really, BJ? Didn't know that...
brandy, i should be okay there, not in an old house
Oh, Gwen, I love the Dalek icon.
places like comcast, qwest, etc., will work
ty gail.
pini, i refuse to give one penny to any of the big telecoms if i can absolutely avoid it. purely on principle
We watched Dr. Who last weekend for hours.
I found out the hard way, my house was built in 58 and the main loadbearing wall upstairs is done that way. On the other hand it works out well because it kills the wifi signal about 5 feet from the house. Daughter can go outside and eat a weed and still stay online.
1958? oh, hell, i thought when you said old you menat *old* lol
But someone sitting at the road gets nothing. I should really secure the connection, but too lazy.
Doctor Who is the greatest tv show every made. don't try to argue me out of that. (smug smile) LOL
1960 up here is when they switched to rocklathe/gyproc construction.
We discovered our next door neighbors were using our network for quite a while. And yes, Dr. Who rocks.
Can hardly wait till March for the new season...... Although Waters of Mars did setup good tfor the Xmas special which in turn is supposed to setup for Matt Smith's entrance.....
Anyone who sees the new doctor before I do, do not tell me one word! thanks in advance 8-)
We watched the most recent special that aired on BBC two weeks ago.
no worries here...don't watch it
I monitor my connection as I do have lowlifes liiving next door. But I think they may be too stoopid for a computer. Or too drunk...
ACK!! (please tell me nothing. not kidding.)
I keep an eye on the Dr. Who BBC website all the time. There are some great games to play there, too.
I would tell nothing. I can't remember that long ago anyway :)
They block us Canadians.... At least from all the clips and such.... So i get around it by checking the newsgroups.
(sigh of relief) lol
BJ...can you find it on hulu.com or fancast.com?
You're watching it as broadcast here in North America? 1 Year behind?
really? I thought those two sites were only a few weeks behind actual air time.
Never looked at hulu or fancast. I have a subscription to a usenet-news server. It was the precursor to the peer-to-peer networks, excpet no one is looking over your shoulder....
brandy, is that a question for me?
ahhhhh...
It broadcasts in UK, and 6-7 hours later it's available for me to watch....
oh, even better, BJ....then you're already on it...
Yes Gwen, it was. Just rying to figure out if you've seen the 4rd (and last) season with David Tenant. Matt Smith takes over in Year 5. Which I hope isn't a spoiler for you since it's been quite widely spread.
How is it today?
*3rd
it's...doable? I think, Gadget...
I still have 80 words to find...
brandy, it would have been a spoiler, but it's not. if you really want to know, i can't afford cable, so i watch tv at a friend's house, and where and when he gets the show i have no idea
70 here . . . groan
I've got 111 left and mis-firing on all cylinders....
gwen, check out hulu.com or fancast.com sometimes...
also, i very much enjoy how much the show can be surprising, so i avoid learning about future episodes, or cast, or stories, or any of that. otherwise the show is not so much fun
I miss Chris Ecclestone.....
ugh, dentistry words.....
mee too. (but the doctor is dead, long live the doctor!)
27 left but i've gotta get a grip. no way i'm going to find those 27. maybe tomorrow...
they won't be there tomorrow, jayk
long does it take to get fast at this? (clearly more than 3 days!)
Pini--
it's gets easier, jayk...
I know. I meant maybe tomorrow is another day!
...have you been using Lickety's Babble Clues (at the bottome of the grid)?
the only ones who are fast at this usually are involved with the language as a job. the rest of us are just here to learn new words......
very good summary, BJ!
jayk, the secret is to be born with a brain that can read upside down and backward, and see words inside random letter strings, and can remember obscure words and how to spell them 8-)
ROFL
Yes. Big help--but no substitute for an actual brain. Words ARE my language, sadly, brandyjack. I write. But apparently not today.
i'm struggling with 66 to go. this is not a "easy" grid
hi. no, gwen, this is a challenging grid, indeed
gads, found foreign goodbye! ci4 (been using it the past few days)
Morewords is my best friend today
pini, i'll look at and respond your email this evening
and remember that English is not always English. Like the Ai/5 garlic infused mayo (French) that the europeans like to douse their french fries with....
see you guys tomorrow. unless i get hold of myself or there's an Intervention
the same sauce used for calamari, right, BJ?
hi BJ & DC
Right, Jayk...we'll see you tomorrow!!! LOL
no prob, dc ;)
looking forward to hearing your thoughts...
bye Jayk
I would never mistreat Calamari that way...... Horseradish/ketchup sauce for me....
(should we tell jayk there'll be a new grid tomorrow?) hee hee
Crossy would love ebay's deal of the day: http://tinyurl.com/yzc9dof
oy, finally found the lone i in the 3rd column
Actually a good seafood sauce is more complicated than that, but when desparate.....
Actually a good seafood sauce is more complicated than that, but when desparate.....
true, bj...true
I KNOW there'll be a new grid. Thank heaven.
when i was in France, ai*** was served on toast with Bouillabaisse :-)
my spelling is horrid today......
oh no, then french food chat has started again!
new does not = better Jayk. Here, it almost always means more follicular punishment....
no LOL!!
just commenting LOL
i'm off to eat some very bad processed food with locally-produced BGH-free milk on it. BBL
later, gwen :-)
njoy, gwen
and i'm off to feed the birds -- somebody told them about the big cold front coming thru! :-)

that is probably the closest I will ever get to Melbourne, Australia
Really? do you know why?
am5.12 french friends
can't remember at the moment but will look it up and tell you when I see you on Babble next time
thanks lynxx!
Melbourne here was named after the Queens Victoiria's first Prime Minister
Mebourne Florida was named for its first Postmaster who had spent much of his life in Melbourne Victoria...better than being called Hector (which was his surname). Thankyou Google
ironic, my birthday is the same as Queen Vicoria, May 24
thanks for looking it up, I am supposed to be hard at work.....;)
Lynxxx, thanx for clues...was called away for a moment, sorry!
and you are near Cape Canaveral, that must be exciting
I must away, bye everyone

Jane Alexander is in the lead
Sounds interesting, and Jane A. is a superb actress. We will await your review :)

Are you going to watch the game tonight, Pini?
they say it's not going to be aired here, BR :(
I made some chicken soup yesterday...it helped...I've been getting quite a bit of sleep... ;)
I should be able to hear it though...since I live about 1/4 mile from the stadium :(
yikes pini!
not even on the radio, pini?
it never fails, jmc...it happens most games (especially when there's a TD), but this is our annual Civil War game and fight for the Rose Bowl berth
oh, probably on the radio, dc...but most here would give anything to see it!
As Reilly would say, "What a revolting development this is!"
they're expecting an over-capacity crowd; close to 60,000
Hope you feel better soon, Pini
hi there, BR, how are you doing today?

The windchill temp was in the minus this AM
Although I'm not sure I'd want it all the time, I sure do miss times like that ;)
Only four more months before spring brings about revitalization anew
should be really pretty then, too ;)
Cole will see snow for the first time.
He will, but not sure he'll really notice 'cuz he's only 4 months old... :(
It'll be tough to wait until next year when he'll be walking and his eyes will pop in awe at it! :)

versa is not a word ?????
ra + vowel + Shakespeare wrote *****ts (poems)
that's a word in English??
I guess it's Latin, jmc, but try a diff last vowel
no, FV!
ty for 8
have that one! ty
the 8 is French and should have an accent aigue on the last letter.
yes, I see
and it means?
to reason - hi!
evidently a catalogue ra8 is an art term meaning a monograph containing a complete listing of an artist's works
catslogued, sort of (I followed the ?)
hi eno!
hi eno :)
nice grid? Just starting it and got a clue for the 8 (he he)
how many, jmc?
an er ending would be to reason. Tis would be reasoned.
yeah, good luck on the rest, eno! LOL
Horrible grid, eno!
oh no!
hi all. h ope it's a nice grid..
hi dorens ;)
nope it is not dorens
hi dorens
Hi dorens. It isn't imho.
nice is not a word in the grid tonight
oh no! .. and hi pini, enomis, jilli and jmc
what's going on? seems there have been a lot like this lately..
Hi everyone. It looks like a lot of us just got home from work right now.
yesterday's smaller grid was easier than this one!!!
just random, I guess. At least this one has one S.
I had a busy busy day and didn't get to do more than about 30 during my lunch break
Hi bugs!
hi bugs
I've been in/out between naps...still have 15 to find...
dorens, did you try Expert at work?
pini and I skipped the work part
96 left
lunch break is a euphemism.... was on phone, checking emails (work-related), counseling a crying kid who doesn't ever want to come back to school (well, now she does) in between the 8 meetings we had with parents of kids with problems
yeah, jmc...but I'm not sure it helped today!
naps, pini? You ailing?
sorry I am behind on my icon jilli. I have been so tired at night lately
poor kid
been home sick since yesterday (better today, but not as good as tomorrow) :)
no, not yeet jilli... maybe will have time next week... still haven't asked lickety to mail it to my work email address.. but i will
no prob, bugs! It's cheery!
poor pini
then you get the weekend off
are you a school counsellor Dorens? That is a tough job
well, tmw is friday...and may go in tmw
sometimes it's tough bugs, but i sure am happy i'm not in the classroom anymore
I've been feeling like crap lately -- no sniffles but a cough, chills, no fever, achy, no appetite.
don't go in if you feel bad pini --ata keeps makng that mistake
poor jill
yep...still playing it by ear...
...and Koda's getting into the garbage can...brb
poor jili and poor pini. hope you feel better soon
sometime kids just wnat to skip class so they go to the counsellor but others are in terrible situations and there is so little anyone can realy do.
this too shall pass
did you get your flu shots jilli?
wish we could have parents pass licensing exam before they have kids
got the seasonal shot, bugs, not the H1N1 yet.
ME TOO Dorens
my school life was a living hell but i ne5 went to the counselor because they all knew my mother
I am sure you are safe then jilli.
i don't tell parents everything... some i don't tell anything
I was in the same boat jmc because my mother was the problem but everyone knew how wonderful my Dad was. He just wasn't home a lot
and this is hardly the time to get the H1N1, when I'm feeling crappy, right?
mother taught at the jr until the year before i started there and at the hs the whole time i was there
my mother wasn't the problem
in fact i had her as an english teacher for 2 1/2 years
I really should go and do those Xmas cards . . .
:-(
Yes they wont let you get it if you are already sick. It is not nearly as serious as most people think, unless you have serious health issues to begin with
I need to take a break for jeopardy
bbl
do mine while you're at it, jilli! :)
well, there's less need for us ancients to get it anyway. I had all kinds of flu as a kid in China.
Ha ha, pini!
my mom was school nurse at a different school in my district. The one time as a senior I cut school and went to the shore with my friends, my school nurse, of course, called my mom and asked what ws wrong
can't blame me for asking!
jili, it seems they are recommending it for younger folks, not us over 50 folks
exactement, dorens
that is exactly what they told me when i had my shots. Apparently there was a flu in 1958 that is quite similar and protects us to a better extent
so there are some advantages to being aged!
I had the seasonal flu shot about a month ago. My rather odd bridge partner says that's why I feel bad now. She refuses to get any shots.
But I was 12 in 1958, why wouldn't I have had protection. I got mine today because I have two underlying health coditions
i don't think that's why you feel bad jilli... there are so many germs... so many things to make you feel bad.
good thing, bichon!
I was a -2 in 1958 (heck, my parents weren't even married...)
i was 8 in 58 and i have COPD and work in a school where kids are coming down with flus all the time, but my dr. said all i need was my seasonal, which I got a month ago
I haven't had any shots this season and yesterday was my "hit by a bus" day...
aper
SORRY
aper
hit by a bus?
dorens, I'm quite sure it has NOTHNG to do with the flu shot I had! That woman has all sorts of weird ideas about diet and medicine.
the button doesn't work
nm, bugs!
yeah...feeling sick, dorens
i made a turkey chili with chipotle peppers in adobo and it is so good... i just ate a whole bowl full, and i know i don't really need any more, but i just want the taste in my mouth. someone give me some willpower, I am trying to lose a couple of pounds
sorry pini, and i sure hope it isn't flu
oh, I think it will be, dorens...
I even have the huge box open that you told me about but I keep going to the chog by habit... It will take soon jilli. Have faith
i keep trying to enter "mayhem" :)
ok, no one gave me any will power.. i'm off for my second bowl
enjoy some for me...
chicken soup is getting old!
we're all too jealous, dorens
oh bugs, use Lickety Add!!!!!
bugs, scroll the chog so that the square for your chat is hidden. That'll larn ya.
mmmmm.. fresh cilantro too
(passing on the cilantro)
well fuquay, you might beat the pants off me in lexulous, but at least i am eating well
I prefer parsley to cilantro
BTW: did you know dislike for cilantro is something you're born with
i think it's one of those things you either love or hate
interesting, pini!
i know i thought it tasted like soap at first, but somehow acquired the taste (or so i thought! maybe i really always liked it but didn't reallize??)
i'm not wild about cilantro either -- tastes soapy to me
FV beats the pants off dorens in Lex? Wow!
she's exaggerating, jilli
guess I should "pre-disposition"
oh please!! fuquay does it all the time!!
I think it tastes like dirt
well, dorens beats the pants off me.
dorens slaughters me!
pini, I'm with you. Just don't like it.
jili it seems to me to be largely luck
baloney, dorens -- you win consistently
see fuquay, I'm not totally pitiful... just against you (and sometimes ata)
luck is most of it, but I don't know why my luck against nrkii is so often so terrible....
... and Fireworks!
ata beats me on a regular basis too
nrkii beats me too, but not always (at first she did, but i managed to win once or twice)
YAY merk!!!
wtg merk
I hope you can stay to clue, merk -- I have those Xmas cards summoning me.
yay merk. what was the trick? this is killing me and i still have 93 left!
ty, it only took me a whole day of coming and going to finally stick with it long enough to finish.
see you tomorrow
I couldn't have finished without Lickety and morewords
and the odd clue in the chog
+
+.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
sorry...that was Koda's buttocks on the keyboard! :)
i'm so tempted jili, but I can't remember ever going to lickety this early... not even halfway yet!
Hi minveryork!
Hi all. I have a few minutes after dinner. 35 to go.
hi min, wht
Hello wht! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
dorens, I think going to Lickety when you have Expert is quite different from when you don't. No need to Bulk Add -- everyhting goes there automatically
hi wht
how fantastic.
Yes!
i have a feeling once i've tried it i'll have a strong urge to run out and buy a pc, just exclusively for babble
You might get a second-hand laptop, dorens!
i might do that!
Hi! Can anyone help me with ma7? I need a clue.
I really must go . . . back when my conscience is clearer.
ma7 -- ma + Cassius Clay's little boy
what's wrong with your conscience jilli?
I should have been addressing Xmas cards
jili- I don't know ali's son's name!
don't forget mine! :)
oh goodness... we need you here to clue far more than your xmas cards need addressing... you can't mail them tonight anyway
jae...use what you just wrote to get the ma7
jae -- remove the apostrophe s from the middle of that
hello everyone

hi aussie
Hi Aussie!
I still do not get it...I must be dumb today- removing the ' just makes a six-letter word...
Yes, I did, jilli but your reply to jaleigh gave it to me
Hey Annie :) Piniiiii :) Jilli :) Dorens :)
m + girl's name that combines Muhammad's last name and boy child
jae -- it starts with m, then the boxer, then the kid
m + al**** is a popular girl's name lately
Slap me with a fish! I forgot the "M"!!!!
LOL!!!
ROFL.... **have a whale Jae**
Just call me Jonah! LOL!

The news is always on at 5 Pini

Hi DR. are you here to play or clue?
Thats a lot of cars extra Pini !
(and it's about 1/4-1/2 mile from my house

Hi and Bye Aussieme. Missed you earlier.

DR...I wouldn't go anyway, I've been home sick since yesterday

I don't watch Survivor
everyone has that cold Pini- people all over my office are sneezing and sniffling

Just bragging, welki ;)
it's 2C here...
I had to host a conference call for my boss yesterday because she was sick
that was a long time ago ... i

Oregon
i'd be inclined to forgive him that one time ... i think he's the most clever player, but heck, maybe the blond girl will win .. appears clueless, but maybe foxy
brb
Hmf! South of here!
jillli, you're up around VBC, right?
Well, I'm going to do some of those cards. See you later -- happy babbling
Yes, pini
I need si 6/21...any clues for this fish would be helpful...
enjoy hjilli
I'm about 4 hours south of Stid ;)
I don't have it, yet, jae
si6 ... more of how you pick clothes from a rack in a store .. not by color, not by style, but by what fits ..
I am not finding it as interesting as I used to welki. It has gone on long enough that they chose players to fit the formula but I am a student of human behaviour so I like to see how easily some people can be manipulated. I also like to watch the leaders and how they motivate people. Trouble is, now anyone who is a leader gets voted out first and only the creeps are left.
si + indefinite article + cover for jar
oh, shoot...I do have that si6
but not that one!, thx jilli
the clothing si6 is 6/33
It's interesting being a "fly on the wall" watching those programs...but, you're right, it is becoming "staged" imho...
oops .. only saw jae's request for si6

Clue went past me

no, gramma...don't try to answer it...try "other words for"
read it, the hlep was no help
ok, i will heed the warnings... see you guys later... happy babbling!!!
Ok, I get it now
so if the 'I' says 0/0, that means i have no words left with I in it?
hello babble friends! such an exciting day here today!!!
that means there are no words that start with I
Zee, read the chat log, find words, and you will be a pro in 3 days. Also, read Angelsong's Babble Page + Lickety's page--see links below
Hi Trif
Like the H...it says 0/22 on your screen...it means you have 22 to find
hi, trif, what's up?
hi trif...how so?
Oh dear! I don't understand. Let me fix a little Gramma juice and maybe it will come clear.
Took Primo to the dentist, and let him drive home, as he has his permit, and needs more driving hours....he decided to try to pull into the garage...all went well, until he tried to pull up "just a little closer" and his foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas....you can figure out the rest!
then why are there three 'A''s listed??
btw, if you guys see asgreen tomorrow, it is her b-day... be sure and wish her happies.. she turns 52!
gramma...m + casius clay aka Mohammed *** + little boy (man's offspring)

took me forever to calm him down....
good lesson for him, and of all the places, it was one of teh safest for that to happen.
he'll recover, and i hope be willing to get behind the wheel again soon
well said seain. It is an upsetting story but such a good life lesson
glad you are well Trif
does the Help actually explain what I was confused about? I really do not see it there
just looked, no it doesn't. good catch on your part, zee :)
Zee...the Tile Stats simply replicate the game board and identify the number of words that you must find (i.e., A 0/3 = find 3 words starting with A, etc.)...to form a word, letters must be in consecutive order and each tile may only be used once in a word
ok, just wanted to make sure I wasn't slow and blind, just slow ;-)
Poor Primo! Scary event.
Zee, it will take a bit to get this game and the lingo. I was intimidated initially and 3 days later I understood it.
thanks, you guys....I think you are completely right DC.
and now you can blame your white hairs on primo ;D
Trif, although scary, it might even make him a better driver...he'll be more "aware"
oooh, very good point, dc! LOL
invaluable that when young (or old for that matter)
At 112/64 I am ready for bed. Tennis in morning, then prepare for evening party for tennis ladies.

Well, she wouldn't be having chemo for anything else,. would she?

ro7 = flower + last 2/3 of spanish hello
flower + motor*** tv

Also must not forget that my ex-hub is huffing in the background because he does not like what has been going on and thinks I'm being used.

whatSO****
whatso****, now that's a run on sentence on it's own! lol

ar6 = nipple surround
ve _ the thing in the middle of your faace that you breathe and smell through.
god...save me
wb, dc
;)
ugh...another td on their part...this is going to be a nail biter of a game
Couldn't see it at all. Typed it in on blind faith. TY
li 7 is my last
yw gramma
ruru - you have no idea the number of times that I've asked that in my life.
li7 = the man in the middle
a go between, usually between countries or big corporations.
LI7 is the meeting of people in harmony or understanding.
didn't know it was spelled that way...
I think I have been misspelling it for years
ty, pini and dog
Thank you for your help on those
;)
ruru, think of it in French and it makes sense
wtg ru!
glad to be of assistance, ru
soip
ruru - don't star me on hw many people can't spell that word! It ended up being one of the first words both my children learned how to spell!
and i assume you now have fireworks, ru?
soip?
typo, ruru
I have fireworks.. I am going to let them run for a while .. hated this grid
whooo hooooo ruru!!
not to mention wrong laguage
congrats, ruru
I worked at a firm where there were many Client Li7/28 Officers. But not one of them, not ev4 the manager could spell the bloody word!
that's sad, jac!!!
how awful, jac
That was one of my first words once I saw there were enough letters for it ..
pretty bad when you can't spell your own job title
congrats ruru
LOLOL LBD
And there I was, deprived of going for my nglish degree, 'cos parents thought a secretarial qualification mighy be bette.... GRRRR! AAARGH!
I work with graduate students who don't even know the title of the program they're in...another sad state.
that's sadly impressive on their part, pini
PINI - THAT'S WORSE!
that boggles my brain, pini. how can you not know what program you're in?
Well, it the Creative Writing Program, not Creative Writing Department...a distinct difference at this uni
i've wondered why i was in the program i did, but to not know which one?
(so probably not as bad I made it seem, sorry)
i'd expect that program to be part of the English Dept
Does anyone have a clue for the ma 7/32 word please
that's normally the case, dc...but not here...we are totally separate units (CRWR having ceceeded from ENG over 18 years ago)
ma = m + casius clay's little boy
seceded
anagram of what you send thru the postal service + not daughter
see, even I can't spell!!!
(i have unfair advantage with that word, being from the South)
ty dawg
good point, dc...it's not one I use very often ;)
sheesh. came here to peek at chat, saw the discussion about the spelling of the li7. have since been working on it, and am now going to bed with one word done in the grid! lol!

Hello Jilli! Pleas DO clue. I'm all flued up and not that capable right now.
yes jilli i just got back
hoping you feel better, jac...
We saw an old-schoo Sinclair Dino Gas pump in Leesburg, VA today.
ah! How's your baby boy?
(I'm home sick, but positive it's not the flu...just a cold)
He is doing well... everyone is happy over there
Plus I've got all annoyed about styudents not even knowing what course they are doing at Uni.
I am going to try to post some pictures
push the fluids, Pini and Jac
(well, they know the course just not the unit name)
Jac?
I keep a jug-o-water by my bed, lbd :)
Still just the three pups, ruru?
only three... all chunkers 20 -22 oz
rur - I've got a jug of water by my bed, too.
they should put the puppies on a web cam, so you (and us) can watch the puppies
oooh, that'd be fun, lbd!!!
well, I guess they'll get even chunkier -- samll litter!
like the last round of pups we got to watch!
yup, and knowing that ru gets one of the pups would be even more fun!
tutu - that's due to something pini just told me.
I am glad the mom is fine and the puppies are healthy ...
tutu? Hiya Desmond! I meant ruru.
I was going to say I couldn't spell the li 7 I must be dumber than a 3rd grader..lol
so am I, ruru *beaming from ear to ear*
thanks jilli.. He was the first one out..
I take that as a sign..
rarin' to go, ru!
Jilli - you should not be proud of the fact that you can't spell li7. Li7 is one of my words! LOL
yes, ruru, and you said smaller than the girls -- but our big Am Can Ch was the runt of the litter but didn't stay that way.
hurryin' to get to the left coast to be with poppa
jac, I CAN spell li7!
His father was a pretty large dog .. I don't think I am worried about size with him
hint for ma6, pls?
(er.. I can't apparently)
Jilli - I thought that you just said you couldn't spell it?
crazy guys dc
I think that was ruru
ru...is this new little one related to your other?
crazy + not females
thanks, dawg
ma6/27 = the males who are not sane.
this is how I clued those li words earlier:
yes.. he is sort of a nephew to my dog that just left me
hi guys! anyone have a clue for the he 6 and the he 7? gracias!
li6/18 -- li + r**** hell
that's cool, ru!
more marijuana like is the he 7
and li7 -- end with a little boy
drop the last letter of the 7 for the 6
he6 = skirt he* + not cake
he6 is the word before it. LOL. Chill out man.
I was misspelling it for about ten minutes jilli.. that is why jac is making fun of me..lol
no Gs in the grid, though jilli
got it, jilli, ty
who needed a G?
Sorry, ruru.
I'll buy a vowell~!
in my head, it makes no sense w/out a G as in -ing
It's okay jac.. i deserved it
hello friends, taking a break from cutting and pasting

i agree w/pini, don't bother starting
li6 -- li + Pr**** the Lord, if you like. The verb.

oh, i got the li6 from the clue anyway
*hands Jac tissues and cough medicine and backs away slowly* *from other side of room...* Would you like some chicken soup Jac?
Actually, I'm too flued up to post now, only here because I'd had too much sleep and rest to sleep again yet. Not tired yet, but I should perhaps go now anyway.

My puppy was born last night about 8:00 p.m.
I hope you feel ALL better tomorrow pini so you can have a nice weekend. I shall be writing essay responses and trying to pull together all my notes and materials for the portfolio review.

why "ways"? "a ... ways"? What's the matter with "a long way to go"? Drives me nuts.
OOps! Shouln't have kissed all hands, should I? Since I have some form of 'flu.
and me to pick up the stuff I just printed and start rearranging. And then to figure out a title that makes sense... *sigh* this stuff at the end is WAY harder than the initial content!
It's ok, jac, we all have sanitizer
*passes bleach around*
gotta luv handi-wipes

she thinks I could hear it from the livingroom; told her that was at the other end of the house
she thinks I might be able to hear it from my room - it's that cold outside...(i'll mute the sound when we get another one)

ty got that one pini. what about next two?
calamari dip
ai + lubricant anagram
rather than the big boys i tried the pe word........not in dict. isnt it politically correct to use pe**** rather than the grown boys??????

darn pini trying all vowel combos. is any vowel repeated?
What does "Inexorable and Deliberate: Schooling, Learning, and Teaching as Dynamic Interactions" make you think the paper will be about?
am + hours *** week + 2nd vowel
it's a measurement of electrical force I think, mkg
gosh, if I knew what "inexorable" meant, I'd be able to answer! :)
ty ty. gee i thougt it was all vowels. ty.
ar 7 plz?
inexorable: ongoing and unstoppable, like the lava flows in HAwaii
ar = to be + smeller

The inevitable li7 between each factor of learning, stid
no pini, I haven't -- thought it was my weird hours. Do you think she's okay?

li + mayon**se + not daughter
rose bowl? that would be SO COOL! can I bring tom and the boys, or is it a trip just for us girls?
ok, mkg -- li + Pr**** the Lord (and pass the ammunition)
ty got it.
you'll only need to reprint if you just happen to randomly come across something that you feel must absolutely be changed...
Finally off the phone
rofl, jilli...cute clue
wb DR
stid, I wish you could get my li7 clue so that you can tell me if I got the right idea
sacked their QB...YES!!!!
17 to go and stumped -- think maybe I should give up on this one
oh! yes Jill -- I think so, your response is a little obscure. I am trying to make that "connection" the way li 7 works.
you can do it, nan...you're so close!!!
stid -- interaction?
what do you need?
da 7 plz?
da7 = year****, month****, week****, da******
monthlies, yearlies, da*****
(add falsehoods to those)

Hi everyone. I won't get done tonight (gotta go to bed and haven't been around all day) but I have a question for you guys.

My computer screen is getting all wonky tonight: it flashes pink; the colors are all sort of neon and blink back to normal, etc. Is my computer screen dying; or is there another explanation?
Sorry, don't know but it doesn't sound good, nef
sorry have that one. apologies need first one. that is second one.

I was definitely too tired to be trying this grid -- don't even deserve fireworks!
coarse
tsk tsk nef ;)
thanks for the help everyone
did you get fireworks, nan? YAY!!!
Hi nef: freakish color changes are usually one of the first signs of monitor death. :( If shutting your computer down and starting it back up doesn't fix the problem, it's days may be numbered. :(
OOOPS! I guess I'm too tired to deal with this goofy screen tonight
we won! we're going to the Rose Bowl!
or, "its"
Off the the PB (actually bed) for me. Sorry
nice, pini!
or even hard drive death -- I'd back everything up nef
yes, House ;)
hi/night Nef ;)
Thanks for the info, House Of Cats
Nef, is your machine an all-in-one or a separate monitor?
np. :) night nef, hello everyone
Hi House
I have a newer hard drive, nan; my eMac died and I got a nearly new G5; but had to down-grade to an old monitor at the time (it was the only one sitting around here un-used). I do have a laptop PC that I can use, but I'm a Mac fan
hi HOC
well, you can get Expert on the PC, not the Mac ;)
Hey Pini; are you better tonight?
yes, nef ;) hopefully 'more better' tomorrow to go to work for awhile
don't rush it, pini
True, jilli; but I do like my Macs. We shall see what I can find our this weekend about this (my son is moving; wonder if he can fit in a visit with Mom to fix my 'puter too?)
I did yesterday and paid for it today
li clues please
oops pa4
fisrt li6/7
li6/18 -- li + Pr**** the Lord and pass the ammunition
I'm thinking that, too
Pini, did it get noisy? Congrats on the win.
Pini, stick with the chicken soup (loaded with lots of good veggies and herbs); and honey lemon tea. As jilli said; don't rush it.
li7 = the man in the middle
ty Jilli!
li 7 is the noun -- use not off instead of the last letter of the li6
I always spell that wrong LOL- Thanks!
thx BR...not too noisy here at the house, but I can see the stadium lights if I stand outside! :)
will do, nef! :)
it's caused a lot of trouble today, dr!
BR, I like that it was a close game, too...made the win all that much better ;)
I bet!
The way the second half started was ominous
ma7 please
scuse me, but what were the teams?
ma = m + mohammed *** + not daughter
Oregon State v. Uni of Oregon
ty Pini
ma + Cassius Clay's little boy
and one broken leg, br...a close 2nd
oh yes, pini's clue is more literal. Mine's more fun
: ) Jilli
Geez, all Oregon!
I was using that one before, jilli, but it seemed it was being taken more literal than as an "alternate"
it worked easily earlier today, pini
then people started saying they didn't know he had a kid and didn't know its name
it did...probably just getting late...
well, he had a kid...but it was a daughter
LOL!
According to the Wikipedia, in Greek its name suggests that it's from France, whereas in French its name suggests that it's from India. Where do English speakers think this bird is from?
what bird?
Turkey -- In Greek it's called the gallopoula, French chicken. In French it's called la dinde, which is short for poulet d’inde, chicken from India. For the complete Wikipedia list, go here.
Well, not from Turkey?

Do you believe everything you read in Wikipedia, babrab?
gotta start somehwere, nan :)
well gyday all
I don't even bother with Wikipedia -- one never knows what the source is, seeing as how anyone can enter anything they want on any topic into it
hey, granny
If I have to provide confirmation from other web sites I doubt I will bother
that's g'day, * groan * what a brilliant start to my conversation!!!!!
so -- "a rafter of turkeys" -- hmmm
pini!!!,how are you, hun?
doing ok, granny...you?
nope -- sounds good anyway, babrab -- I just have a beef with Wikipedia calling itself and encylopedia when the info in there is not necessarily verified.
nan I believe there is some overseeing and more to come.
ok, now. spot of bother over a new exercise this morning, but now everything good.
hi granny!
how's your foot?
hey jilli, you ok, hun?
feeling a bit under the weather, granny
weeellll.... the new exercise used a muscle and tendon which hasn't been used for a loooong time, i'll leave the rest up to your imagination. * grin *
oh, jilli, how bad?
ouch!
My daughter once entered a colleague as being a favourite son of whatever obscure little town he comes from, listing all his academic credits etc. as a practical joke. He spent 2 days blaming his mother for the entry, before he found out who had really done it.
ah, well, pini, they say no pain, no gain, right?
right, granny! :)
not very, granny -- no sniffles but an annoying cough, no fever but chills, achy, very tired
jilli, I think you got hit harder than me
no appetite (lose a bit of weight, goody?)
hope it goes away soon!
yuck, you have had your H1N1 shot, haven't you?
me too -- I overdid yesterday
no, granny, but had the seasonal flu shot a month ago.
thanx, pini. as i said, betterer now!!!!
us ancient folk don't need H1N1 much
sorry your new exercise was a bit of a strain, granny!
jilli, please, as soon as you are well enough, have the shot.but it has been said, those of us who are over 50, have been through the massive flu epidemic 40 years ago, and have antibodies already.
* Is it dangerous to swim on a full stomach? * Yes. It's better to swim in water.
silly babrab!
* giggle * BR....are you bored??? LOL
trying to incite a riot
jilli, the new exercise entailed being in knee deep water, hence more weight exerted through the joint.
is it working??? :)
granny, I did intend to have the shot but it wasn't available for our group yet and now I'll wait
BR, like the question, have you stopped beating your wife/husband yet? there is no correct answer.
pini, i MUST start sometime to put more weight through this ankle.
granny, I have a guy who washes windows and clears gutters and inspects roofs. Last year he fell off a roof and broke both ankles. He is now full of plates and screws but functioning again, which he attributes to daily pool swims and exercises.
The answer is the the question assumes facts not proven and is not appropriate
oh, i believe in hydrotherapy, it's the doing that's getting to me. lol
I know, granny, but just remember to take it just a little bit easy...don't want to hear you're going too fast and making it worse ;)
* grin * i see my reputation precedes me
brb
jilli...do plaly lex with dorens, et al?
helllo
