i don't mind repeating, jilli
what do you mean, jilli, doubling
well, the little lace thing has me baffled -- I've tried various spellings
chatting there and playing here, flosey
ah, of course
uses both the sometimes vowels
haven't seen West tonight, have you?
that's what I thought but it didn't work
ok do + sometimes vowel + french for the + sometimes vowel

let's just say my brain is warped!!!!
plus i have very clever monkeys
sometimes my monkeys goof off in morewords
yup, jilli, mine too
hmmm babble says delt is not a word morewords says it is??
himself says anyone who can do cryptic crosswords has to have a warped brain, and as i looove cryptic crosswords......
ursh, there are quite a few like that -- I've been making a list of them
oh - well jilli one more for your list
already had it, ursh!
oh, i have news.
7 left and getting tired, be back in the morning, goodnight all
night flosey :)
what news, granny?
we have just had our AGM at my church, and my vicar has appointed my his warden
waiting granny
and well done, flosey!
nite flosey
sounds like quite an honour granny, good for you
congrats, granny!
it's very humbling, at the same time exciting!!!!
what does that involve granny?
it means i, along with 2 others virtually tell our vicar how our church needs to be run. also involves decisions like priorities regarding maintenance, and whether he commits heresy at the pulpit
well, that is quite an honour, and quite an involvement
good morning everyone;)
That last one sounds tough!
in other words, as laity, we have to keep our vicar in line, get to decide where our fiscal funds are spent, and generally act as a buffer between our cngregation and our vicar.
hi crossy :)
wow, good morning crossy, I'm just thinking of saying goodnight
hey crossy!
lol flosey
but, what are you doing up at this hour?
almost 4 a.m time to put the kettle on;))
insomnia
it is jilli. as a christian, i walk a very fine line, as i am sure you appreciate.
I do!
i am also responsible to do our vicar's ' competency"
as i said, i am humbled that this wonderful man thinks i can help him.
I'm sure he knows what he's doing
: )
well, down to 4 so might as well finish!
good for you, flosey! I'm down to 64 so I might as well go to bed!
gooo folsey!! time enough for sleep in the grave!! kick thats grids butt!
2 and I cannot get a ra5/14
goodnight jilli, get rid of that cough
ra5/14 - knock for three, a male pronoun for two.

hi haz ;)
hi haz!!!!
Hello jilibus, granny, flosey, cross and everyone.
hi Haz
howdy haz:)

and the last one?
Hello! This looks like a nice grid.
it is, haz. very friendly!
That's nice, it's fun to rattle them out.
i mean, if i can finish the f words in a straight run, that is a good grid.
flosey, did you get that ra5?
yes jilli, finally, thanks and thanks Haz
so what's your last word?
You're welcome, flosey.
re6/27 and am going crosseyed
flosey, to say no again

hi everyone
Hello, Andree, nice to see you.
howdy andree
hey andree, how's the little fella?
i have hardly babbled at all lately, nice to be back
I've noticed you not being around.
he is fine rose, not so little anymore
And has he grown enough to not fit inside the swimming pool fence?
i have been really busy, work, a lot of babysitting due to the silly season, very social lives my children lead
no he still gets through the fence but has no interest in the pool thank goodness
That's good!
nice too see you back andree, you may see my better half in here now from time to time as i got her hooked on babble;)))
had miss 6 amd miss 3 all day today, d i l took my son to lunch, he has just made partner in his firm so celebrating
oh, where is elegant tonight, then?
think i saw her last time i was on crossy
Well done to your son. He can keep you in the style to which you'd like to become accustomed.
she is on the other computer, but not in here atm
easy to get hooked crossy
ah,so,while the cat's away......
morning all...*s*
hey rolin
Hello, rolin.
he is only 34 and youngest ever made partner so celebrations included a diamond ring for her, a watch and a new giutar for him so nothing left to keep me in style, lol
darn, have the hiccups, brb
whats the verdict on today's grid?
hi rolin
it's a goodie, rolin
Get your claim in quickly, Andree before it all gets splurged!
lol, style becomes less and less i find, nice walks outside by the bay, good books by the chair, good music from the radio, good tea in my cup,my darling wife beside me..my son asks me what i want for christmass and im at a loss,i have everything;))
cool..with weather like this i think ill have time to work on it..
And you've a beard so razor blades are out.
i am with you crossy, my needs get less as i get older, had my 66th birthday last week
actually he got me a nice beard trimmer last year, having a beard takes more work than being clean shaven
A scarf to keep you warm on the walks and to hide the beard on the days when you just can't be bothered to trim.
I just let my beard grow until people start crossing the street upon my approach
lol br,sure thats the beard? lol
one of my gifts was 2 tickets to see "wicked " in january
So, no razor blades needed for BR either.
hi babble
oh andree...its a great show...im sure youll love it
i have aftersahve and soap on a rope by the box full
i am looking forward to it

I overheard a lady talking about the trauma of not being able to get her son the particular cell phone he wanted. You'd have thought her house had burnt down, she was so downhearted.
off to the pb for rolin!!
lol,rolin,we all do that
but i have a nice fresh pot of tea in there
ty crossy...and yesterdayy someone was talking about chocolate brownies too
i have had the same cell phone for 6 years, people laugh when i bring it out?
Crossy, if it works, I can't see the problem but it seems to matter a lot to others.
i cannot stand the drama of the shopping, finished my christmas shopping over 2 months ago, just have the 2 teenagers to buy for now
why would i spend 600 dollars on a cell phone that does everything but make toast? first thing id do is drop it in a puddle
i have a new super duper phone...does everything but make a cup of tea
yuca
yucan
Anyway, off I go to the kitchen to get started on lunch preparations. (My only requirement for a phone is that the numbers are big enough for me to see without my glasses on)
oookk...ok..that was my partenr's fault...
Toodle-oo!
busted again rolin
i think i had better go. today has been very busy. mother mac's daughter finally decided to give us a day off. spent the afternoon knocking over some of our chrissy shopping.now very tired. hugs to all, see you at the flip.
bye haz
bye rose
nite haz

and * poof *
i think the most phone i will ever get is one of those ones with the slide out keyboard so i can do msn easier
half my family is around the globe so msn is much easier on the pocketbook
i just use my phone to make and take calls, nothing else, it astounds me to see my kids use theirs for all manner of things
my brother is that way,he can actually do some of his office work through his
i look at those i=phone commercials and shake my head
my kids get their emails on theirs, i am so behind the times
lol andree, remember making an overseas call on the old trans atlantic cable? you had to wait for the operator to get you hooked up and there was a 7 second delay so you had to speak carefully
i sure do remember
and was incredibly expensive
now we can just send an email, for FREE
hi all, anyone have the ho6 please?
lol, when we used to call my grammy in the U.K we actually had a pre made script of questions to follow that could not exceed 5 minutes lol
remember the beeps when 3 minutes has elapsed
indeed,we had a party line as well,3 different rings on the same line
i tell this to my kid and he looks at me like im insane
i don't say anything anymore, hard to believe there was no tv till i was 13
he starts using his i-phone to find a good home for me
lol i didnt sit on the couch till i was 13,remember the untouchable plastic covered "guest furniture"?
spent my first 10 years nose to nose with the family dog lol
remember our first colour t.v... took me years till i found out that lorne greenes hair wasnt really that shade of green;0
i slept in aroom with my 2 sisters then the 4th came along and her cot went into our room too, now not only do we need a room for each kid but a separate tv room and computer study etc
a report came out this week that australians have the biggest houses on the planet, how embarrassing
yup,2 bedroom house, one for the parents and one for all the kids(as many as 6 if needed)
really?we tend to keep it under 2500 sq feet unless your wealthy or the heating bills will break you
my ex husband lived in luxury, 3 bedrooms, one with 4 boys , one with 2 girls and one for mum and dad, lol
right now it is 1c and we have the heat on;((
about 25deg C today here
oops..-2 now
nice summer day andree;)
at least the pool gets plenty of use
lol
i am missing pe6/24 please
wife cant wait to start using her winter coat, last year i got her a nice eskimo type coat, all furry and fluffy and with matching boots and gloves and a scarf
sounds divine crossy, if it was 1C here i would not be waiting to use that coat
once it gets about -10 or so,we break out the heavy gear
my coat comes out at about 15C
lol,love you aussies:)
we are spoiled with our weather
the in-laws used to go to florida every winter,so if the temp ever went below 70f,they had the furnace just roaring
lol,i have all the pe,s except your 6/24 :(
(been lurking, don't have the pe6/24 either... sorry!)

well done, grin. I am ok, feeling strong and positive. How about you?
Not bad thanks, glad you are feeling good though...missing summer already.
so am I, or at least the long daytime and the bright light. I like winter for the most part, just not the dark.
Yes i know what you mean..it is almost dark here by 4pm
long dark hours get me down. Depression always gets worse in winter. But will try to stay on top of it this year.
we will have summer parties in the sin bin and drink pina coladas in swimming clothes!

thanks Chrissie
yw, and thank you BR
thanks BR, got 'em all now
ok, been to google, still worried, but not as badly now....
Good good
what's wrong aussie?
my cousin lives in Aus... She has been bitten 3 times by a white tail spider, she is on her way to hospital now...
yikes
what does google say?
I know, you see my worry.... was looking for Lynx for advice....
how serious is that?
I know that Oz has a lot of experience with treating spider bites, so that is a consolation
White-tailed spiders are vagrant hunters who seek out prey rather than spinning a web to capture it. Their preferred prey is other spiders and they are equipped with venom for hunting. They are known to bite humans and effects may include local pain, a red mark, local swelling and itchiness; very occasionally nausea, vomiting, malaise or headache may occur. Ulcers and necrosis have been attributed to the bites
thats what google says.
I was just worried is all, but Lynx seems not to be in the house today :(
well, I think you're right, that is information that puts it in perspective for you
doesn't sound too dire.
and if she is being treated quickly, that is good too
I just saw spider bite, and my mind went crazy.... Thanks for calming me down some :)
understandable that you are concerned . . . here's a ((((aussieme)))) hug
Its just hard being the other side of the world from her....
your babble buddie will send out the prayers and good vibes
of course
buddies
There, there Aussie
Thanks Espirit... Well, I must away now, work beckons I am afraid...... See you all later, when I have 7 whole days off !!
no expert, but at least from the shows I have seen about this, they know how to treat this and with very high success
Thanks again hego..... **poof**
I don't know if we have white tailed spiders, but we have suffered from spider bites from time to time. We live on the edge of the desert and I think that makes us more prone to have them as visitors in the house. They get very red and swollen, they hurt and itch. A good dose of anti-histamine seems to take the edge off.
I think australia is blessed with the highest number of venomous spiders and snakes in the world
Scratching the itch tends to spread the venom so a larger area gets red, hot & itchy. I cannot remember ever having to dose with antibiotics.
I guess ours are milder, Esprit.
you have bigger fish to fry over there ;-\
I guess you could say that!
:-}
Off to do some work, BBL
time to eat. Bbl
Good morning, is anyone here? No one has chatted since 6:40 and that was to run off.

Perk up Scrabby, all have off days.

You too Hursh, dear.
glad I didn't come here to get cheered up! ;-)
TY, Hego. I will be playing tennis with 3 friends later so that will help.
Maybe You have that SAD thing.
LOL jmc.
Nothing like bashing a few balls about to make you feel better (!). Hi Everybody...
Worse than that, but I do have a light lamp. I will start using that.
hi soodle
Hi Soodlebum
i don't have SAD, if anything i'm most bummed in the summer.
Exercise is a good mood elevator too.
Hi Soodle!
That's unusual, Hursh.
For most it's winter and the holidays.
I have not been right since my friend died almost 14 mo ago. Life is different now.
I am sorry to hear that scrabs
And the holiday season makes me sad--I am looking forward to Jan 2.
it takes time to sort of heal that kind of wound
It sure does, JM. Acceptance is tough.
Scrabs, I lost my husband 5 years ago and understand about grieving, believe me.
Some holes are impossible to fill.
a description I heard that I found useful was it was like losing an appendage -- you never complete get over missing it, but you eventually learn to live without it
(Hego) It's paralyzing at times.
15+ years since my husband died
That's about right jmc
I still miss him but I am past the grief
GoD, what a cheery group we are!
I have 15 minutes to get nbt!
hello and good morning - coming in on a difficult theme - my sympathies to all of you
Go jmc!

hursh, did i miss something? pest control?
yay, nono!!!!!!!!!!!
de4
i do deserve a fish slap for not seeing that one
oh, ok, had that one
is the au8 a compound word?
no
i was looking for derat, which of course is not here
then I'll look for it later! bbl
au 8 - car + chemical process
but if you want to compound something that is what you would do with it
no but is an extention of the a u4/5 car
au8/80 - sounds like the kind of half-truths told to you by the car salesman.
LOLOL haz
hehee good clue haz
tx haz!!
Thank you! Good morning/afternoon all.
hey, ruru -- adorable siblings!!
hi Haz, ruru, Une, Nono

It's fine, quite cold but dry.

marty is my cat
our power went out last night! not sure for how long.
oh..carrots and cats dont get along

he wants to rub on them, rub on the cutting board, peeler, knife, grater, anything that has touched carrot.
he is a very silly cat.

Bye Une, enjoy the decorating.
Help with the SP 5/12, please. the one directly before the warriors weapon?
It's just one consonant different at the end.
Doh!! Thank you Haz
help on the au8/80 please
No problem, Soodle.
rumple, it's an extension of au4/5. I suggested earlier that it sounds like the sort of half-truths told to you by a car salesman.
hi soodle, rumple
Hi Welki
This is probably a fishy fish, but for fireworks the PA 5/12 directly following the PA 8/50, please
je pa*** francais? (i haven't listed yet)
Put a vowel onto the end of pa4/5 at the beginning of the sequence.
(thanks, haz :)
flop
You're welcome, welki.
Hello, Ata!
are you about to leave?
Ooooh. Got it, thank you so much. Thats fireworks for me. thaks everybody
hi, ata
No, not this time!
Well done, Soodle.
can I tell you all something quite O.O that I discovered today
wtg soodle!
Absolutely.
a few years ago, a man who was accused of rape had his case thrown out of case becayse the lady in question was wearing jeans
apparently it is impossible for any attacker to take off someone's jeans, jeans can only be removed consensually
and that case has been used since then by a good few rape / attack defences!
how is it impossible ?
I don't understand that logic
nor does anyone
skin tight jeans are hard to remove - fight and it's impossible
hang on, i have a summary of the case
but nowadays - relaxed fit is not something to depend on
Morning all! Interesting concept, Ata...Little D is very cute, ru (icon)...
thanks pini
I'd laugh..but I would be in big trouble hoot
feel free
it's amazing that some pairs of jeans actually stay up (on)!
if this is the one of which you speak, it's from an appeal from sexual assault in italy http://tiny.cc/Wirnm
oooo lets see
(it's amazing I can keep my pants on)
The concept is only valid if skin-tights are worn. A knife would not be pleasant
* going to look *
buffet pants, ruru?
one of my lawyer buddies was telling me about it very briefly this morning
I wasn't aware of the women wearing saggies?
like jimmy buffet?
briefed on the brief...briefly?
like sweat pants with the drawstrings untied *lol*
ok - time for a break! 3 left and need food!
bbl
the cu6/24 please
See you later, hootowl.
table flatware
cu6/24 - the one who makes the eating utensils.
such a shame it's not true. all women would be safe walking the streets at any time of the day as long as they wore tight jeans
sorry, mine was that which s/he makes.
not sure I could fit in a pair of "tight" jeans...have you seen some of those "pencil" styles? gads, not sure my toe would fit!!!
thx for both silverware clues ;)
lol i know!
Tight jeans and a .38
Back later!
thnx. Still can't get the au/8
bye haz
One of my grad students is really tall and weighs about 10lbs...she wears that pencil style and I can figure out how she gets her foot thru the leg!
it really is one of those "only in italy" cases ...
ciao haz ;)
usually a zip, pini :P
haven't seen one anywhere below the knee, ata...it's scarey!
look at the inside ankle, there if anywhere!
I was never impressed with that anorexic look (heroin-chick/wasted/bored) model look
that's what I mean...the closest zipper to the hem of her jeans in the zip on her cute little sneakers!
at least they officially can't be raped lol
au8/40 is
Me either, ru...I think it's more nauseating than anything
crossy likes his women with curves;)
good point, ata!
curves are good if you have 'em...
but I guess any size and shape can have tight jeans
just wear your smallest pair :)
oh, not so sure about that ata...I think wearing "skinny" jeans is a privilege not a right (same with spandex)!
lol
sorry, rethought my clue, and didn't clear completely.
(at our work out club it is mostly ex-spandex)
I said "can" not "should"!
ROFL!
brb
I wonder if spandex was really even supposed to be outterwear...seams like it should've remained "under"...
is spandex the same as lycra?
I wouldn't be caught dead in spandex or lycra
no...I think lycra has a sheen to it...
but it's close...
but similar stuff? never worked out was spandex was lol
crossy loved the spandex body suits with a scarf or fine chain around the waist they used to wear all the time in the 70,s;))
cant
aunt
and the big hair;))
oops cursor moved and i was not paying attention
it's ok, onyx...too bad I already have those words...next time slip on something I don't have! LOL
i'll try morning every one cold here
here, too...
I take it back, Ata...Spandex, Lycra or elastane, is a synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity. It is stronger and more durable than rubber, its major non-synthetic competitor.
oh, ok!
uh oh..just look at the crud ill have to deal with later today;((( http://tinyurl.com/yjxw4zo
I think there are some out there who just try to see just how "exceptionally elastic" it can be! :)
ooooh, in for a cold one, eh, crossy?
this puzzle is diabolical
not going to be pretty pini
my exboss use to wear tights, not lycra pants, tights, when flying
that and a tshirt
used to drive my male colleague nuts as they'd travel together and everything would stare
tights?
under a skirt or something???
black tights
every dimple and divot on display eh?
it was not pretty
good morning everyone
howdy flosey
hubby was told to wear elasticized stockings while flying - wore them under his slacks of course!
morning flosey
good morning. We have snow in Vermont, finally.
we're all advised to wear elasticated stockings
wow, Calgary and Edmonton have both had lots of snow, none here
now, that makes sense, flosey! There's an actual purpose to those; unlike some of the other attire chosen...
but not just stockings
ok you guys i can beat this talk, i had a colleague who was a plus size woman( mabe a double plus ) eho would wear tight mini spandex dresses and skirts, some times the things you could see you did not even want to imagine
was she on her way to the Jerry Springer show?
did she secretly have 4 legs?
ouch, onyx!!!
Back again. I decided to open the list and make progress rather than stare at the grid.
eeew atalante!! i don't even want to speculate what was under there
exboss was male
morning scrabs ;)
that puts a different complexion on things!
a male in thights?
and he was not a ballerina
we all use to laugh hysterically
wait...what'd I miss? the ex-boss who wore the tights was a guy???
yep
Was he Robin Hood?
Not sure if that's an image I want to try and imagine!!!!
or Little John?
takes all kinds
more than you want to see of any boss
He must have worried about getting blood clots in strange places.
right Gail, it might even be difficult to suppress a giggle at the wrong times
afternoon everyone
Hi jacq
how is the grid today?
hi jacq
heya scrabbler
morning jacq
heya Pini
heya flosey
do 6/33?
oh i judt got an 8
right off the bat
there are a few strange words - as usual - otherewise moves along nicely
and it starts with what, jacq?
(don't have it, ru)
tu5 anyone?
pa 8/50 it's a past tense of pa6/21
do6 pretty paper used to line a dish for say cheese or cakes
I ne4 that one too, Ru
just got the au 8
thx jacq...should've had that one...
thank you zooz
wtg onyx
yw :-)
tu5 has the sometimes vowel in the middle
TY, Zooz
thought that was spelled with an i thanks
I've never seen it spelled that way! (thx)
phantom word: parsley
This spelling prob has another def
*too lazy to look it up*
el6 is eluding me also
i tried that one too gail lol
el + vowel + picnic pest
thank y ou scrabs
the first three letters you just wrote Ruru + garden pest
ty srabbs, that thing has been clued all morning and i finally get it;/
sorry ..a bit slow on the uptake then..lol
crossy is a bad boy,i cheated on the au8:((
how cheat? why cheat, ask.
was driving me nuts
Ok, 42 for later. Time to shower and get ready for tennis match. Bye kids.
I just let my dog out and he had forgotten about snow. He looked like Bambi on the ice, he couldn't make his feet do what he wanted them to do.
just wanted to see if it can be done..anmd it can
tc scrabbs
lol gail
cats in the snow are funny too
* giggle * cute, gail! I can't wait until it snows here and Koda sees it...
we are training your year old male cat to a harness;)
our
cat on a leash?
indeed
why not?
he now walks on a harness and lease halfway around the building
dogs
I rather wish cats fell under the leash law...I really don't like finding cats in my yard, on my roof, etc...
we have a fella in town with a ferret and he walks the ferret on a leash and harness
...don't forget the CAR!!!
but i love how they keep the vermin out of my garden( mice and rats)
our town shelter has over 450 stray and unwanted cats,so we either keep ours indoors or harness and leash them
We have a neighboorhood cat, who has no owner, but is cared for by the people in the houses he visits. He is always ready for a chat or a snuggle and is very well fed and loved.
but he adds to the problem by probably siring hundreds of kittens over the course of a few years;((
a sad state of affairs when you're encouraged to spay/neuter your dog/cat; then dogs must be leashed and cats are free to roam... :(
strange i would say
our are not now pini,we have to have tags and rabies shots and a full leash law for bith, the cat problem has gotten too far out of hand here
rather seems like cats will "take over" someday...
No, he is neutered and people get him his shots. Somebody left him when they moved. He won't live in any one home, just moves around. He is well cared for, not an actual stray.
i tried a leash on my cat once, she went crazy
We used to live above a theatre, and our cat would visit there on his nightly walk -- sit on the stage, in an armchair, if there was one.
cats don't maul people and generally stick to themselves, don't roam in packs
That's good to hear, crossy...
...sorry, gail...I was just commenting in general ;)
2 ofm my 3 cats are rescued from the shelter
Oh, I know, I don't like stray cats as a rule, but I checked up on this one when I heard he was homeless. I usually take them to the shelter if they are strays. No offense taken.
glad he is fixed gail
I suppose I'm probably more interested in "outdoor" cats who actually have owners...
I don't believe in "outdoor" cats myself
We have a group on our town who pick up strays, have them neutered and then return them to their original location if there is no room at the shelter. At least they have shots and can't breed.
depends where they are
what bugs me is owners who wont get thier cats fixed its like"oh how cute!! her 4th litter!" and 90% end up in the shelter
ugh crossy I agree
is how i got my cat -- oh we just found her pregnant on our porch
UGH
We rescued a cat once who had been declawed, but not spayed, and then was let outside to roam. How stupid can you get?
au8? didn't get the earlier clue
about 150 cats get put down here just to maintain a maximum capacity of 450 cats.we are building a new shelther for 5 million dollars with a in house vet..but funding is pending for the last 25% of construction;/
yearly that is
wow
1st sp 6/24?
we found one feral cat colony that had 3 males and 12 felmale,we figured they were pumping out 50-70 kittens a year till we caught all the males
I only have 1, ru...
and it's too obvious to be the one you're probably looking for
holy cow, crossy!!! now that's a rise in population!
its amazing how fast it happens
going out to the abandoned buildings everyday and setting up 10 lives traps, took a while but we got them
yikes ... glad it's taken care of though...
indeed
but we have yet to get an "empty bed' at the current shelter
I was just taking a look at our local animal shelter's website to see if there was a 'statistics' page...but there isn't.
like you see 'the stats" are too depressing
I'm not sure if it's depressing or a general eye opener...
sp6/24, the pamper place and haahaa, hoohoo,******
thx jacq...clever clue!
it's a turkish cavalryman
took me forever to clue it lol
thank you jacq

What time is it in Australia, Lynxx ... up awfully late aren't you?
Or is it, up early?
Just got up Merk - a few minutes after 7 am
hehe found it yay me!!! lmao thx for the clues
Oh, I get up that early, too. I don't know why I thought it's be 4 a.m. or something. Back off daylight savings time here.
And are you on it?
Yes, we are on it from October to April
That accounts for the difference. It's 4:11 a.m. in China, which is what I keep track of, but they have a weird one time zone rule. That makes it fairly unlikely that they'd match Australia's.
Are you still going to China as much?
Yes, twice a year. I'm leaving for there again on Dec. 28 ... thru Feb. 8.
Well, I have to address some Christmas cards. See you tomorrow everyone. Have fun ... nice grid.
ca6,21?
edward, it rhymes with that ledge over your fireplace
thx
Bye Merk, Hi LilM
yw
hi lynnnxxxxxxxie
redskins just scored, they lead new orleans 27-17
yippee
but Mike Vick just scored against the falcons
are the falcons booing him???
about the same reaction as he had in PHL. some booed, some cheered
i would boo
of course you would! you're an animal
booing doesn't sound very sportsman like
cu6,24? and the two cu7's anybody?
torturing dogs isn't very sportsman like
re-hi folks
seriously?
horrible lynxx
hi Welki
think knives and forks
seriously... me, lynxx?
lynxx, do you NOT know of Michael Vick's crimes?
lol - that's why I asked LilM
well it's been all over the news for over a year, I wasn't sure how you could not know
i think that what he did was awful. however, he paid for the crime, and deserves a second chance, just like any other criminal.
Perhaps the US media were too ashamed to let the rest of the world know
dog fighting racket, federal charges, many animals (pit bulls) featured on "dogtown" television show
he was convicted of running a pit bull fighting racket, many many dogs beaten, shot, drowned, tortured
got em thx
I don't htink it merited international news.
he was in prison for about a year
he supplied most of the money for the gambling aspect of the racket
Ar******, sounds like he deserved everything he got. I would boo too
we would boo together, lynxxxie
It's that kind of moron and what they do to the dogs that has pitbulls banned in Australia
does anyone have a clue for the de4/8?
another case of someone who 'has it all,' and blows it
think short christmas people
oh thanks! weird word
de5,18?
add a consonant onto the de4/8

jayk said a woooooorrrrrrrrrrrrd

sheeseh .. dweeb

uh oh
looks at welki paperback book library
yeehah!!! Redskins just ran the ball back! to the 40!!!!!! Je, are u seeing this???
eeeek what a play!
"how to raise a puppy you can live with" LOLOL
has anyone ever saved an mp3 player?
yay, pass completed!
kaplan, let it dry thoroughly and it should work again
dry manually best you can
let it dry slowly and it will be fine
kap, how about trying the blow dryer on it?
opening case, if possible, is good
I'm drying it with a hairdryer set on cool
I didn't know Mp3 players were christian?
on cool is okay
someone told me to put it in rice!
Order some extra sauce if you do that kaplan
rice helps absorb the moisture
Christian?
I've heard that, the rice absorbs
rice is a great dehydrator -- use it in salt in the south all the time
that might work, kap, in a sealed container like a tupperware. RAW rice, not cooked rice, will absorb moisture
ruru you are so helpful
(Beams)
what did that christian comment refer to?
Thanks- I wondered if it should be cooked, brown, white, wild, pilaf...
"saving" an MP3 player..
haha penalty against new orleans!
lol ru!
I've saved cell phones that got wet before by opening up all I can on them & leaving them in my oven, with just the pilot light on, of course. On paper towels, & turn occasionally.
oh gotcha, wuwu... hehe
Oh I get it- but it already was baptized this morning
LOL kap
(hope it was ho4 water)
REdskins at the 13 yard line
just don't try to turn them on until you're pretty sure they're dry, or something might short out
(I can't believe that the redskins are scoring that many points)
good point, rosebud
haha kaplan
My CoolPix camera survived sitting in a pool of water until my dau found it in her leaky garage...air dryed it and works fine :)
there is a risk with heat --- used to dry out my husbands he4ing aids on the ha4 over the light bulb and they melted
hi leslie
I think autodent should be a word, don't you?
i'll reserve judgment, define it
yes , kap, and also "auyloy"
is that a machine that wanders through parking lots damaging cars?
every car should come with one, kaplan ... would relieve severe cases of new-car-owner-anxiety
hey jmc

Nah, Jayk, not humiliating. We have all been there. Did you at least enjoy the yummy snacks? We decided it should at least be fun.

because i am a free lance writer and every minute i spend on this (which seems to be like 4 hours a day) is minutes i'm not earning a living. This is WAY more addictive than i anticipated--and way more fun. how the rest of you hold down jobs is completely beyond me. Super interesting week. Maybe return on the weekend. Gotta getta grip!!!
5 days old
what's work?
we all have our trials at balancing
I was going to say that ruru!!!!
I am the boss so I can babble at work (except when I laugh too loud)
But Ho4 COW (as I have learned to say)! Is it that the really pros among you can do this very fast? Or is it that some of you have more free time?
depends on the difficulty of the grid jayk
well, they all seem hard to me
it varies jayk
Jayk ... I AM PRETTY SLOW BUT RETIRED, SO PLENTY OF TIME.
some days i am faster than others
oops sorry for shouting!

jmc--no, you don't always have to finish. Unless you are either completely undisciplined or more laid back than i am. which is why sating away during the work week would be EXTREMELY advisable for me!

Is sl7 a compund word?
wow, 5 inches -- not bad!
nope, just means not fat
no, scrabbs, but it's thin
unusual for us to get that much this early.
sl7 ... usually tall and thin.
that's what i thought . . .
Well, wasn't that simple?
scrabbler: please when you get a chance answer my email?
hey, TO!
hi, TO
hi TO.
Oh, yes, I have to find the card with the info...was in whatever book I was reading back then.
Tom nearly fell on the icy street last night, leaving the party. And we'd not been drinking. Happily, he recovered w/out incident
That would have hurt.

Hi everyone! How is everyone? Do you still have snow?
ah, the other laugh word. ha!
Hi Red. Just a covering here.
hi, red :)
Here we have been having this weird gray sky for 3 days...
hi red :)
how odd, red
how bout sp 7,40 please
Ooooh I found an 8 on my own!!! Hi jes.
hey, red! a bit of snow north of us but not in NashVegas :-)
Dc its making my photography so hard.
thin, edward
i went to the list for that one but couldnt find it lol
It has been consistently much colder here and the ski resort across the valley began making snow on Friday night. They want to open ASAP.
i can imagine, red! diffuse light, but horrible shadows nonetheless, i'm guessing?
and the worst DCis that I've been seeing really cool birds. An anhinga one day, and then an Osprey today....but the photos are just so flat.
is there enough for cross country skiing Scrabbs?
how cool! saw ospreys when I visited my daughter in Colorado
Hi Une!
can you brighten with photoshop or such?
how many points are possible?
We see ospreys when kayaking. In fact, I saw a nest in the summer, with mom there and dad flying nearby.
Not enough snow to ski yet, or to snowshoe
hey dc ... do you listen to flute?
i see ospreys when hiking along the river.
jon--changes daily--go above to help section
sometimes, welki. have you a recommendation?
jon there are 207 words, i dont know the point total.
yes, what red said.
cool, dc :-)
i've been seeing an unusual number of hawks . . .
I have been mostly seeing buzzards.... hawks are cool.
yes .. leonard lopatin. will be at the flute fair in reston, feb 19 -21 (i went to school with him)
redtails around here, red :-)
you can listen to samples on facebook
Ahhhhh, jealous. of the hawks.
i even saw a couple doing their mating "helix" flight
there's a flute fair in Reston? Huh. I will so have to check that out, thank you!
more jealous Une...
mesmerizing
oh, neat, une
did you take the pic in your icon, red??
dc, how are things going with the job suff?
And yes, Une, i did take that photo.
he also makes custom flutes ... if you have a moment, just look him up on fb
wow!! beautiful!
i'm applying for the very few available positions, and following up with recruiters, red.
wood flutes?
thanks Une.

Is Tom back at work?
seain, tom looks amazing the Babble gathering pix!

he's doing secretarial and monitor tech stuff, some nurse assistant stuff, while on light duty.
Xmas eve! I hope he finds that a gift. I;m glad he's doing well.
thanks, red :)
Scrabbler left? I wanted to know if she had been skiing yet.
scrabbs said the ski resort across the valley started making snow yesterday
yuna

Not enough snow yet--waiting!

Still loving the new practice Scrabbs?

*waves hi to everyone and apologizes for intermittent posting --- cooking*
Swine flu faded away about 4 wks ago--October was brutal.
whatcha cookin', welcki?
we had big issues in Aug/sept and it does finally seem to be done with the hysteria.
salmon, risotto and rapini
2 kids died in June, 5 in Oct + Nov, here in Buffalo area
Oh welki, I want to come over.
sounds lovely
but with a little asian fusion thrown in for good measure ... tiny spring rolls, salmon flavored with sesame oil, soy and garlic
Oops, must go work on laundry--washer is quiet
OOooh, now I really want to come over.

i've not worked since end of august
finally filed for unemployment
just in time to pay the auto insurance :)
Clue for ho6 please?
DC you seem so calm about that. I would be so anxious. I really hope something good comes for you.
tomboy, scrabs
I AM a tomboy, but am thinking about the clue
hello all! taking a few more minutes to play before Tom meets me and we go shopping.
hi Stid
Stidddy!!!

hey red! hey scrabs!

hi minver
it's pretty out of use word, scrabs... think old :)

go scrabs go!
Uno now
Hi all! I am not really here, engulfed in grid.I couldn't resist cluing. A little break from searching for words.
107 here, doubt I shall finish.
Go Scrabbler go!

Well Dc you are in teh process of being cleared again...

You could err, become a nurse.
hey sue!
no, red. still working on finding out why DHS denied me. I have an inactive one with DOD though
Done. Geez, I swear that I typed words earlier that never made it onto the list. TY all for clues.
yay scrabs!!
YAY scrabbler!!!!
i could red. so don't want to, but, yes, i could
Congratulations Scrabbler on your fireworks!Hooray!
congrats, scrabs
yes, its sort of a dirty job...
OK, time for more chores that could have been done earlier this weekend.
hi all
bye, scrabs
hi sue
later scrabs. have a lovely evening!
hi sue.
I think, with Tom for a partner, perhaps seain knows too much about being a nurse?
one would have thought that I, with a parent as a teacher would have been warned off going into teaching, though, so perhaps knowledge doesn't always equal wisdom.
not dirty, but flesh wounds squick me big-time
i want to be a teacher. :)
you would be a GREAT teacher, seain! *nods encouragingly* any way for you to get certification without spending three years in school?
ul5,12?
my grandmother advised me to get a job at a bar, and wear short skirt and tall heels. not sure if that's terribly helpful to you, though :)
latin plural of the ul4, ed
must have masters in ed to teach in VA
thanks for that, jes
emergency certification, seain?
no such thing in VA
schools in VA pay well, so no trouble attracting teachers
there were provisions a few years ago back there that if you had a bachelor's in a subject area you could teach while seeking certification...
yay VDOT plowing and sanding again! Wooo!
i just thought it was interesting that it was my grandmother who advised that... ;)
hm. will have to look into that. DC is more flexible, i know.
you must live in the city, seain... they almost NEVER plow or sand our little rural spur
after the end of the barry administration, roads in DC were fine
after the last barry admin, that is

hi, aussie
AUSSIEME!!!! how are you, m'dear?
I only have about 5 minutes more...
yah; no fun. but not surprised, she ws doing poorly
lovely Mama.... I now have 7 days off work !! :)
Hey Seain :)
7 days off sounds perfect, aussieme! I have 5 more days of intense panic and activity and then I will have some time to relax before the new term starts in January
Dc, you can make much money as a tour guide. I used to to it in Detroit for German tourists: $35 per hour and ca 25 dollars in tips
lovely Mama :)
Hi Stid and Aussie
People don't tip guides in the US Capitol. Tourguides in the US Capitol are a public service. Pays only 43k.
as a private tour guide, yes better pay, agreed, Inge
how's our princess doing, aussieme? I think of her often, and wish I could watch her grow up (though glad I don't have to deal with growing pains...)
Tag inge :)
Princess Georgia is doing really well Mama..... She is pretty well potty trained now, only has a few accidents....
I will have to post a picture of her Mama....
good for both of you!
brb...
I would like that, Aussie
any clues for sp6,21 and sp6,24
sorry Team, don't have that yet
sp6.24 is past tense
sp6.21 - fast foot race, but different vowel
thanks for that one seain
down to 31 and need to pack up. tell aussime I will check for pics later?
((Hugs all)) see you-all again tomorrow probably, hope to not leave the house at all.
hasta, stid
hopefully my new icon is Georgia at halloween :)
How adorable, aussie
is she there ?? All I see is my icon of me :(
click on profile, and is there
thanks Seain.....
other sp6,24? i have the past tense one
Well, I see her in your profile. my eyes fail me looking at the small photo in the chat
I am glad inge (that you can see her in ,y profile that is) :)
relax at the sp* and add giggle to it
thx
sp 6: the resort + *** haw , sound made by donkey
last two tu5,16 and tu6,27 clues?
tu5 (like bu5) beware. plural for 6
like the person doing the purchasing, change beginning cons
2nd sp5.12, please
sp 5/12 sp + pork and b***s or boston baked b***s
ooooh, oof to the right. thanks, luv
sp + blue j***
I am in disbelief that cu4/6 is accepted as a word !! Disgusting.
it takes many other perfectly valid, if offensive, words
I agree, Aussie
that one is particularly offensive
I am really disgusted. I hate that word, I really do. They can say any other swear word at work, but that particular one is frowned on the most..... yuck !!!!!
I just choose not to enter it
and leave the word list incomplete??
I entered it by mistake, I meant to hit the l key, but my finger caught the n key by accident, and then I hit enter....
Yes Inge- I am not worried about my rankings
tu 5,16 and tu 6,27 still have me stumped
how many words possible/
?
tu 5/16 tu + 2009 is the current **a* and plural
207 words today
207 jonbanet
207 jonbanet
thank you
thx. fireworks, i never would have got those
After growing up in Germany, I find it easier to say English swear words than German ones. I dont even know most of them
wtg Team-Edward!
re-hi, babblers :)
bravo, Team
I try not to say swear words if possibible.... I have 3 year-old ears around :) At work however, it is another matter.... I swear sometimes...
YAY Team !!
Hey welki !
congrats, team
wb, welki
In sophomore English class we were reading Shakespeare, and I innociently asked : what does pregnant mean?
lol inge.... bless you...
pregnant as pregnant pause, or s in a woman being so?
Some of my classmaes were ROFl
au8d yeast extract
Pregnant as "Full of"\
my cousin got me in trouble when he taught me a swear word and I didn't know it was one. My mom almost had a heart attack when I observed that the Smuckers jelly rhymed with a certain word
I think it related to full of joy or happiness
ah, okay. i can see why classmates would laugh, though. Your innocent question much much more mature than your classmates' reaction, IMHO
the teacher told me to ask for word definitions, since most of the class did not know them either, She met me after class and explained
sounds well-handled in the teacher's part
it's the ry4 of millstones, not of an orange
she was of the old school teacher type. Smart women ended up in teh classroom then adn did a great job. Now girls becoem lawyers and doctors, and the teachers are mediocre'\
hm. very insightful observation there, inge. I'm certain that's generaly, if not universally, true.
I regard teachers and doctors highly at the same level
teachers are not as well respectd in the US as elsewhere
was just thinking the same thing ... sad commentary that some of our brightest aren't teaching children
sadly, it is so, Inge :/
welki.. check out the new pic
i hardly know you, ru, but i would surmise that he takes after his dad :)
you can say that AFTER he lives with me..lol
I think musicians , like symphony players, are more respected elsewhere also
very true that,too Inge
agreed, inge .. i have a daughter who was a music teacher (talk about a double whammy) .. she got no respect from either musicians or other teachers, although she plays at performance level
ruru, I look at your puppy every day. Has he grown any?
he has gained 8 oz so far.. that is really great.
more hurry up and wait, eh ru? another 6 weeks or so before he comes home
yeah.. something like that welki..
laughing that your puppy is the one flashing, ru
yeah.. it is hysterical...
how are you?
well, and you?
fine.. not tennis today (rain here) and my football team lost.. so not a great day
no tennis I mean...It is freezing cold here today
freezing? as in, what... 50?
Got called away by email. Need to leave the computer now. Gute Nacht, Babblers, bis morgen.
