hi jili, how are you tonite?

I don't know about yours, but mine are in my chest!
however, I did find it
but they are on either si** of your sternum...
lol Nan :P
or spine, depending on whcih si88 you are on LOL
I'm ok now, swmbo but had a hairy drive home on slippery roads
bingo, got one!! :)
oh, no, i hate hairy drives!
i didn't think salt spring got icy?
swmbo, we had a thin layer of snow and it's greasy underneath
very different snow from back east
nbt
yuck. we had snow, but then it rained and now we have wet, wet, wet
we also get black ice -- and sometimes lots of snow but it doesn't last long usually
alas...must hit the pillows...
will chat with y'all tmw ;)
they mentioned freezing rain tomorrow
it's just started snowing again here -- not supposed to get more than 5cm overnight though
black ice is the worst. I don't mind winter driving too much, but black ice is scary
bye Pini
Half way - BBL
did someone say the 9 is a de?
yes, i have been looking but i am completely clueless LOL
well, this was almost like black ice, and I had to come up this hill which is narrow and curvy and steepish in spots. I was shaking for quite a while when I finally got home.
wow, jill, that sounds terrifying.
It was.
it does sound pretty awful. hills and curves with ice, bad
I'm very glad you made it home all right. Congratulations on your driving skill; it must have been quite dangerous, and I'm glad you're warm and dry now.
not quite ice, but tracks in the snow which would catch and slide the car sideways
We just stay indoors in weather like that, including the time my husband got trapped at work for two days.
thanks, sam. I couldn't stay indoors -- had an appointment in Victoria made last August, didn't want to miss it. Weather was ok when I started out.
unfortunately i work 1/2 hour by highway from my home, and being 'storm stayed' isn't an option most of the time
need one more j, but have no idea what it could be
well, {{{hugs}}} to you jill. I know how it feels; we get days like that and I bet you were nearly sobbing with relief when you got home safely
swmbo, in this case they had literally thousands of employees who didn't leave the building for two days. it was one of the nastiest ice storms this area has ever had, and we're southern so not prepared to deal with weather like that
ok listing I am going crazy here
Too right, sam!
yikes, that sounds BAD. I have the option of staying at work and I have a locker full of 'necessities' but it is getting to work that is crucial. i work in a health facility and if i don;t show up, another nurse gets to stay
Yes. The worst is when it kicks in halfway through the drive. It's not safe to go back and it's not safe to go one and you know it will be hours before anyone can come to help, so what do you do?
meliae how can we calm your craziness?
Well, yes, swm, it was pretty awful but fortunately it doesn't get like that very often. it was a freak storm and people were camping out on conference tables and grumbling; thankfully the power never went out
find me my last 60 words lol
hmmm, sicne i still have 101 to go, that might be tough, but i am willing to try...
Because of jill's story, I keep phantoming "ordeal"
Thia was a long day. I left here at 8:50 am to catch the 9:50 ferry to Victoria. Luckily was able to get the 3 pm ferry back and the snow had just begun. Got home, shaking, at about 4:30 pm. If I'd missed the 3 pm ferry the next one was at 5 pm and it would have been worse, and dark to boot.
if you can have fe 4/9 why not the 6?
I guess the hatfields and mccoys don't count, huh?
only The Babbler knows....
guess not
oh, jill, and the power was still on so you had the option of making hot cocoa?
well, now jilli you can relax with some tea maybe and Babble. and us.
phooey on cocoa and tea -- a nice stiff vodka on the rox was in order!
LOL
*puts on soothing music* *mixes hot tea with a splash of whisky* *murmurs calming words in jill's direction*
And I'll be heading for bed fairly soon -- it's 11:09 pm now
well, the tea was decaf, so that should be all right
the screen keeps jumping around
AK! got the de9!
Hooray for swmbo!!!
w00+!
it was serindipity
is that a hint?
no, not really, but i can hint if you want (is it too early?)
not too early :)
*waiting with baited breath...
well, it is the plural of the residence of a de**
swm, I'll get it in the AM; it's past 1AM here and I should have been in bed *mumble* hours ago
I think I can sleep now, g'night y'all
oh, ty swmbo -- we had the singular not long ago so I should have thought of it
ty swmbo
:)
night sam, and thanks for the tea and sympathy
150 down -- good time to retire -- food night all :)
food night to you too, nan, lol!
*good night

phant foundries
I'm supposed to go to town tomorrow -- I think I'll cancel the doc appointment -- hope he'll give me the Xray results over the phone
goodnight mkg
night mkg
they seem reluctant to do that
well, if everything's ok I think they'll tell you.
certainly should, I think
so maybe I'd better not ask!
I'd ask jilli
I'll ask if they have the results yet.
Of course, the forecast is for rain to wash it all away
when I asked the receptionist to fax the results to me once, I was told 'but you wouldn't know how to read them" - why would I ask if I couldn't
the other receptionist always faxed them to me
Sometimes I think they think we're all feebleminded. Well, I'll go now and let you find words!
have a good sleep tonight jilli
I will, I'm sure! And *poof*
100 to go, and I'm off to bed, goodnight all

Hello everyone :-)
Good morning, zooz.
Hello, Haz, sorry was getting into the grid..lol
No problem, zooz, it's a bit more cooperative than yesterday's offering.
So it seems, which is nice.
hi Haz & Zooz
Hello, lynxxx.
What sort of a dictionary doesn't accept eejit?
same one that doesn't accept outie
So narrow-minded.
hi everyone
Hello, Andree.
hi Andree
What's new with you, Andree?
i've put the business with a broker so now i await results, i am really ready to retire and have decided i will take any offer, i would have to work another couple of years to get a good price after this economic downturn and i am just not prepared to
I hope you get a good result, Andree. As you say, you could be hanging on for a while with no guarantees of a better outcome.
Big step Andree, a hard decision I bet. Well done
it is hard as i need a certain amount to buy myself a house, will have to lower my sights, not the end of the world
So, the arrangement with your daughter isn't permanent?
How close to the centre of Sydney are you now?
Jules and i are renting together and its worked well, our lease has been renewed until october and i think i will have had enough by then, i like living alone
lynxxx about 35mins by car, 45mins by bus
'cept for Hugo of course!
of course, he's my little mate
I foresee a tug of love when the time comes to part Hugo from your granddaughters.
They'll go to court to demand visitation rights.
ha ha , the kids do love him, i will suggest jules gets a dog for them when hugo is gone
It would seem only right.
Phone
just looking at the row of dogs on chog, so funny
don't you depit olives?
i do but not enable
you need a little black dog for variety
well!
(Refreshed) OK you can join in chat
ty :)
hi ata
How are you Ata, you were missing for such a long time I thought the dreaded lergy had struck you down again
half right :) I still can't do much! It's so frustrating. But had to pop up to COtswolds last week cos sister is in hospital
Is she OK now? - well as much as she can be
Hello, Ata! Just back from the phone and on way to hang washing on the line.
she's still in hospital, but grumpy so that's a good sign!
If we keep talking we can have nothing but dog icons on chat.
hi haz! hi la glitterata!
Bonjour!
Shouldnt you learn the Gaelic for Bonjour?
or isn't there any NI Gaelic? lol
I should, shouldn't I? We didn't get taught Irish in school.
I know Slainte, that's about the height of it.
the most important word
The weird thing is hearing Irish spoken with a Northern accent and English words interspersed. They haven't got words for some things so the English has to do.
ooooh odd
aasdl afdkjfk; a;dkfjkk computer a;ldkjf a;lfkj;j Madonna. You get the drift.
like French then!
blah blah blah weekend blah blah blah
Exactly.
Cut and blow dry in French is le coupe et brushing.
shampooing is shampooing
Hey Babblers !
Hello, Aussie!
hi aussie
ok, how come my icon is Georgia, when I just put scooby doo up !
I see Scooby Doo when I click on the profile.
me too, need to refresh
hi Aussie, I refreshed and it is OK
keeps our row of dogs
I refreshed and it didn't change for me. Hold on while I aim a good kick at the computer.
I see scooby when I click my profile, but its still Georgia when I refresh.
It's dogs the whole way down the page!
not mine, its still Georgia... I refreshed 5 times !
Just pretend you can see Scooby just off camera, Aussie.
That happens to me too Aussie
I'll have to..... grrrrrruff !! lol
What's the icon theme supposed to be, I wonder?
We're such rebels.
A-ha !! Now I see Scooby !! I had to come out of Babble, and back in again to see him !
I drove through a red light last week.
Okay, it wasn't a proper traffic red light, it was one of those lights set up by people making holes in the road.
Suns today...perhaps we can pretend it is still Monday if we get busted
a true rebel haz, hope you did't get booked
I lost patience when the thing kept me sitting for ages when there was clearly nothing coming and I was late for an appointment.
So far, so good, no summons in the post or anything.
Sometimes you just have to defy rules. Once a decade or so, just to show you have a mind of your own.
if so, shouldn't you have made sure someone was watching?
There were people behind me in the queue. I live dangerously.
lol Haz !
I think anyone that breaks rules is a rulebreaker
I noticed they all followed me.
hi BabRab
Hey BabRab !
they were probably dying to do the same
Hello, lyn
Yes, but I had sat for five minutes at the red light, clearly nothing coming the other way. I say I was performing a public service.
Howdy, Aussie
Where you lead, others will follow Haz :)
I know. The men who were making the holes in the road were off having their tea-break, I think they had forgotten to set the light properly.
Its a bit of a stretch but we can imagine BabRab's icon is the back view of 2 dogs (kinda)
Labels are only intended to label anyway
yep Lynx.... (kinda)
hate labels
I hated having to sew name labels on my daughters' school clothes.
I hate labels too..... they are sticky things !
Fiddly things.
the dreaded S word!
which Ata, Sticky, Sew or School ?
But not to have labels means being unlabeled
I was thinking more the labels that people like to categorise you with
I know! It shows the depths of my maternal love that I was prepared to put hand to needle and thread.
all of them!
lol sew - almost as bad as ir**
I dont like being labelled..... I have several labels at work....
If you could have ir** on labels that would stick, I'd be in clover.
I will sew and iron for you Lynx....
**am offering, because I did everyone else's last night**
really! do you do mending as well?
whadda ya need mending ?
She'll be wanting embroidery next.
...plus you'll do anything for a free trip back
lol Lynx :)
I was round the world like Santa last night..... I was at Sprites one minute, and then at Herins....
I do a lot of mending ... a lady at the store even asked, "Who the heck did that terrible sewing? I hope you did not pay them!"
What was your response?
lol, would have been funny to see her reaction when you told her
I said you made my day ... I was laughing so hard
I sewed a label on my daughter's apron for Home Economics. The teacher, being a Home Economics teacher and therefore fussy as can be, pointed out how badly it was sewn and told her to get it re6/21. It so happened that it was parent teacher interview that evening, so I introduced myself 'Hello, I'm the mother who can't sew.'
Thank goodness she didn't offer personal tuition.
loooooool :)
did you ever try a stapler?
rofl Haz....
Good for you, Haz. I have far more serious issues to deal with than how well I mend my clothes.... I was quite amused
and thanks for the re6/21 :)
I am sure seapie should be accepted
The staples would have been too big. We're talking fiddly wee things. Hems are fine for the occasional safety pin, and you can get away with sellotape for a while.
off to bed for me, lovely to see you all
poof
Good night, Andree.
Night night Andree :)
nite Andree
seer
oops !
Okay, I'd better take a break and get those clothes hung out. I'll be back later - bye for now!
be well
*gone*
bye dear!
and I'm giving up for tonite, can't see anything anymore. Nite all!
Night night Lynx
see you soon Haz...
be well, lyn
What project are you working on now, Ata?
all sorts of bits and bobs, I've got to start a Cool Thing, but it's got the potential to be so cool that I'm scared of starting it!
Ata... you are wonderful, you can do ANYTHING !!!
it's going to be the Two Trees, Aussie. Back to my favourite ever topic!
you can do it Ata..... you can !
I know :) It's just my hands are still so shaky half the time from flu-shivers!
hmmm, didn't know the un6 was a word.
{{Ata}} you want some hot water bottles in your trousers :)
clues for the 8s and the 9 plz
i do!
the 8's are both fo words (I dont have them yet) and the 9 is de9/60 (I don't have that either)
the de9 sounds like tall towers in which headmasters roost
one fo8 reminds me of pirates...
ty all
morning all...one fo is a compound word fo4/7 + not back or front but your si4/5
we seem to have that de9 a lot recently
Morning Nonnie :)
hiya aussie!
how come we cannot have a singular de8, but a plural de9 ?
cos the single ends in y
A-ha ! that would be why then ! duh !
fu4/13 ?
NM, found it !
bbiab...... got to get Smurf's snack....
**poof**
good morning, Babblers!

Hello MM, Je4, Enomis, Ro
hey scrabbler
mmmm oatmeal
morning everyone;) wax up your ski,s scrabbs! http://tinyurl.com/yjxw4zo
Woo hoo for you, Cross! Your ski resort is open, right?
yay for falling down season!
havent checked, but i assume so with all this snow we had
im on to different things now,i dont get to the hill much anymore, leave it to the tourists
where are you crosshair? the ski resorts are open here in ottawa
im in collingwood at the base of blue mtn enomis
but im not a skier,so unless im doing a job up there,i do not follow it
ive broken enough bones thank you,ill leave it to the skiers now;0
don't ski anymore but used to love it
one year ,we even had someone get chewed up by a grooming machine..ugh
ouch
Me too, for downhill. Now I stick with XC-skiing and I just got myself snowshoes for Xmas.
ouch!
dies
sorry!
yaa,for safe snowshoes! those fancy aluminium ones scrabbs?
TY, enomis!
but how appropriate with ski accident (weird coincidence) LOL
had to strap on my cleats yesterday just to make it down the driveway...winter is really here.
Yes, Crossy, but I haven't tried them yet. We decided to XC ski on Saturday while conditions were ideal
she passed alright, they had to blot her up with a sponge..doubble ugh
At 56/160 I must get ready for work. Blaaaaaah.
yes eva, they have theese nice rubberized slip on cleats that fit most boots and shoes, check it out;)
bye scrabbler have a nice day!
I have those. And also the Yaktraks. They are great, although they do change the way your foot hits the ground which can create some probems with frequent walking.
Is there a trick to snow shoeing? I've seen films where people make it look so beautiful and easy, but when I use mine I look like a drunken penguin, and although it does make it possible to get through deep snow it certainly isn't easy or graceful.
ad6,24 please... good morning;)
fo
un
and hello everyone
morning annie
good morning Eva
ride
sorry!
Eva, You just want to get at the cookies in the PB!
indeed eve, when you swing the foot foward, you go in a gentle outside arc, while gently dragging the back end of the snow shoe, then repeat with other foot(older style of shoe)
first time out,you will think your inner thigh muscles will explode hehe
the new metal shoes are much better so im told
Hi crossy
howdy annie:)))
I do have the newer metal ones. But the slight outside arc is important....would keep me from stepping on my feet. Also good to know that it's supposed to take so much energy. I thought I was doing something wrong.
it is very good for your cardivascular sys;0
damn typos
30 minutes on a pair of those is like 2 hours in the gym hehe
It's the only way I can refill the birdfeeder later in the winter. Also, I didn't realize the first times that with new snow you need to pack down the snow with one foot before stepping into it...otherwise you end up thigh deep and stuck. The only way I could get out was by lying on my back and pulling my leg out.
i sweat so badly when i do that,i have to think very carefully about layering with the clothes
indeed eva
Or we could buy tickets to Costa Rica and forget the whole thing
hehe.poctures eva making showshoe angels
lol eva..we can raid my brothers place down there;))
It did give me time to ponder the sky and mortality. i.e.how long would it take for someone to notice my absence and come and find me if I couldn't get unstuck.
Your brother has a place in Costa Rica?!!!! When do we go?
he does indeed eva
Obviously the common sense genes in your family were not distributed equally(-:
best to carry a flare gun for the days you fill the feeder;)
no,they were not,for him opertunity knocked..for me the bird of paradice flew up my nose lol
I love watching the chickadees come to the feeder. It's like they rain from the sky-in free fall.
Does he like Costa Rica. Everyone I know who has gone loves it. But I don't speak Spanish (English, French and some Hebrew but no Spanish) and although I know that lots of people there speak English it always feels bad to me to go somewhere and assume that people will adapt to my langauge needs.
he LOVES it there eva,it is his 3rd year living there,he has the kids enrolled in an english scool and they are all learning spanish as well as french
and they have a local U.S funded hospotal nearby for any medical care(most locals would not afford this)
Morning all
howdy hego
I hear that it is becoming more and more of an American ex-pat place, much more expensive, etc. But I am awfully tempted except that I utterly despise flying. I'm not thinking of moving full-time, but an escape from these dark days.
morning hego
eva,you can live like a queen there with american dollars
oh boy it sounds tempting! Do you visit him often?
he is earning in the upper 60,s there which give him more per anum that the costa rican president lol
what does he do for a living?
he works for a internet poker company who,s head office is based there
Yikes! 11 j words!
the r's are driving me nuts
And vowel words!
you had to say 11 didnt you?
Definetly something to look into more deeply crossy

Sorry Crossy. What about 23 p's.

i always thought those were just "stories" -- no more!
Hi Une
morning, hego :-)
reading back thru chog, eva -- i love my chickadees as well -- so cute and they crack me up when they fuss at me to get movin' when I'm out filling up the feeder :-)
apparently i killed the chog . . . again :-)
I think it was my fault Une
:-D
All that talk about j words, etc.
FM not around to take the blame?
haz! howdy!
Hi Haz!
I know unea-they are utterly fearless. Sometimes when the feeder is empty I'll be standing in the kitchen and will feel as if someone is watching me - will turn around and see a flock of chickadees staring at me like "Isn't there something you've forgotten!"
Hello! Nicer grid today, isn't it?
morinng has
so true, eva! LOL
definitely nicer, haz!
Nice for Haz, maybe.
Let's try tht again: morning Haz
Good morning, Eva and everyone.
Oh, it's nicer for everyone, yesterday's was a bit of a trial.
with all those nu's, the grid must be freeeeezing! LOL
I know, it doesn't bear thinking about.
:-D
good morning, friends! Just a few minutes to babble this a.m., and I would really like to have nbt before I go. Can anyone give me a nudge for the bottom right e please?
How is Spangle today? (I adore that name)
Think of a downy duck, Trif, ei5.
Hi Trif
Good morning, Trif, Hego, Une, Haz and everyone.
She's well, hego, we've had a nice walk and she's settling down for a snooze.
Hi Merk
Hello, Merk.
thanks haz! I had the ei4, and kept trying to plural it - forgot about the r. Have filed it away for future use, hopefully!
Lucky Spangle
You're welcome, Trif.
okay, gotta hit the shower - first day of my new job! keep a good thought for me, okay? I am SO NERVOUS!!!
You'll be grand. If you're wearing a skirt, make sure that you haven't got it tucked into your knickers after you've visited the loo.
Good Luck Trif!!!
And your shoes are matching?
LOL Haz!
It has happened. Not to me, for I always check....
might get me a raise, you never know! ha ha ha - poof!
Bye Trif!
have a great time Trif and remember that it's normal to be nervous initially. In a few months you'll smile at how scared you were.
good morning everyone - and good luck in the new job trif, you'll be just fine
Good morning, flosey.
Hi Flosey
nose arises from the grid ... good luck, Trif.
Nice to see your nose
Hi all...
hi mom2
Hi Mom
It's not bad ... better than the premier of Italy's this morning.
hello all
tivel, are you here?
hint on the 9?
Hi Peri
I know. He's very much a figure of fun normally but he's had a nasty blow to the face, teeth broken and everything.
what happened to the premier of Italy?
de9 - places where churchmen/university heads live.
I've been up since 6 playing "Step and Fetch it"... don't even have tv on!
He was attacked with a model of Milan Cathedral, the perpetrator has a history of mental problems.
Berlusconi (??spelling)... did he fall? Or did an angry husband punch him?
It happened a couple of days ago.
hints on the 8's pls
Well, I suppose if one has to be attacked with something....
Both are compound words - fo8.
ty, will look
angryhusband? with berlusconi, it could have been an angry father!
Hello Dorens - your name is in the grid today!
LOL Dorens. Too true.
Hello Dorens
mornin babblers!
hi. yes, haz.. i have a common name (as far as babble goes!)
Hello, EvaN!
lol, just monkeyed de6 and 7, what on earth is that
running out the door... happy babbles everyone
Italians are so entertaining
Hi Eva
Bye Dorens!
Yes Hego... I am married to one, LOL.
I am Italian Mom2
my d-i-l is Italian, she and her family are the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet
Recently I overheard my daughter identify herself as Italian (not Irish and Italian... just Italian)... I was like.... OUCH! I was like, hold on there a second... you are half Irish, too!
They're kind of the fun uncle of the European union, I think.
My husband's family is awesome, as well. I actually really LOVE my mother in law.
how very, very lucky you are mom2
When my family is together, there's always laughs.
I'm always interested that Americans look back to their roots - does that always stand or do you think there will be some point that people will just see themselves as Americans?
We live in NJ.. so the NJ Italians have this reputation, ya know??? Most Italian-Americans are really not like you see them portrayed on TV...
We do see ourselves as Amerocans Haz
Haz... No, I don't think it will. We are a country of immigrants. It is our history.
But our roots are important too.
hah got the 9 ty
ans
If I was in Europe and someone asked me what I was I would say American, but in America if someone asks what you are you tell them your ethnic heritage.
True mom
well done reen!
It's just interesting to observe from an outside point of view. I suppose it's a case of America being a melting pot, but not so much that everyone loses sight of where they came from.
For the most part, the American experience is that of the immigrant.
Exactly, Haz
i think it has a lot to do with the fact that there are still people coming into the country, and probably always will be. it isnt a settled mixture, theres always something new...
redo hints on the fo8 please?
There is a proudness to it, as well... the idea that someone in our family packed up and set off to find a better life.
But then what happens when the nationalities intermarry? Or is there a kind of unspoken rule that you marry within your own Italian or Irish or Swedish roots?
still lookin for the fo8's
When I first went to Italy, it wasn't like going somewher foreign, it was like going home.
fo8 - you might see it on a boat.
That used to be the case Haz, not so true anymore... certainly the Italians and the Irish intermarried because they shared a common religion.
right, as is Canada - a mixture of many different heritages and cultures - makes up for a very nation - all learning from each other
meh almost can spell forensic D:
my phantom today is foundry
got 1 of the Fo8, opposite of backside
I was married to a Jewish man for many years, Haz
very **interesting** omitted below
fo8/60 - same beginning as the other compound fo, this time use one of what a dice has six of.
Yes Flosey... we see you as Canadians, but when I travel in Canada people do identify with their roots, as well...
thats the 1 i have haz lol
bah foresee doesnt work either D:
I find the whole concept of family fascinating. Can you imagine what it must have been like for those left behind when the early immigrants set off? In those days there was every chance that they would never see them again.
i think that depends on the background at hand, and how many generations back it goes in the states. i have friends who are indian or middle-eastern in heritage whose parents fully expect them to marry within their own culture, or might even have arranged marriages. for other cultures, people dont really care. my parents came straight from england + im sure they always assumed i would marry a white guy, though they never assumed he would be of english heritage. but if i had chosen someone of another background, they would be fine with that too.
fo8 - think in terms of shipping, old-style.
My husband's grandfather came here at 15 and never saw a soul again.
very nice hint haz :D
Eva... I think the farther you get from the immigrant roots the more acceptable it is to marry outside of your heritage.
I hope it helped, reen.
definetly did :D
Good.
pansie doesnt work D:
i agree mom. but i think it also depends on where those roots come from. i think some cultures (whether in the states or in their own country) are just more strict about marrying outside of your culture. and some cultures dont really care...
Nope
Yes, I find this particularly true of the Asian and Indian cultures... though I do see it changing, at least amongst the younger generations.
thanks, Haz, found both fo8
Actually, my Italian Jewish union worked very well. Family culture very similar.
That's good, peri.
yay periwinkle :D
eww no 6s or 7s et
yet*
I think it is important to maintain your own heritage, but once coming to a new country, abide by that country's laws and accept that flag and national anthem
Listen, my mother and father and my husband's mother and father would not have even considered marrying out of their ethnicity.
hi Babblers.. thank goodness this grid is kinder than yesterday's. (-: enjoying the chat, don't want to interrupt..
Hego... cultures that revolve around food usually do, LOL!
Hi Aloy!!
Hello, Aloy.
good afternoon all
True, true mom. lol
Flosey... ultimately we are Americans and certainly identify as Americans when threatened (see: 9/11 and surge in patriotism)...
hi sprite.. you look bright and sunny today
Hi Sprite
Hello, sprite. Nice sun!
as do you, Aloy, only for you it is always shiny :)
and, our diets have been greatly improved by the diverse ethnic contributions
thanks :)
Oh, yes!
good morning sunny sprite
But the States cover such a vast area - I'm assuming that there are different state identities as well, characteristics that people assign?
hi flosey, love your sun!
Good morning, all!
ty sprite
I personally have a problem with those who will not salute the flag because they don't "believe" in it (religious reasons excepted)... but, when you refuse to salute the flag or serve in the armed forces because "your" country has done you wrong (see: the civil rights movement) then it is fine.
Some people are still fighting the civil war haz.. LOL.
Honestly, I wasn't intending to be controversial, mom! Just wondering about the whole stereotype thing, over here Scots are supposed to be mean (not the case), Welsh never stop singing etc.
But there is a unifying culture too, Haz
Hello, Judi.
hi Judi
An American commonality.
like 'going dutch', haz?
I didn't take what you said as being controversial at all... just throwing in my two cents.
We have tons of stereotypes here in the states, Haz.
oh yeah. california is laid-back where as new yorkers are uptight + quick. southerners are a little slow/backwards. there are stereotypes about all the different regions. but really, they are only true for some people of that region + you really have a lot more diversity than you would think.
Yes, the unifying culture does come across when you look in from the outside. To British eyes, the patriotism seems total and unquestioning. I'm not criticising, just observing.
I grew up in a mainly Scots-Irish community... the Irish drank and the Scots were cheap, LOL....
And some stereotypes are not stereotypes. They are accurate descriptions. (And you know who you are!)
NP Haz!
LOL Judi!
but mom2, don't all americans defend their flag and country no matter what their origin?
And, I think, most Americans would say that our patriotism is not unquestioning at all... strong history of revolt, protest, etc.
LOL Judi.
I'm just being flip. Don't anybody get bent.
I think so, for the most part.
like 'going dutch', Haz?
Maybe what I mean is patriotism in the face of opposition from outside influences. It's a bit like some families, you can fight the bit out among yourselves, but unite if anybody outside dares to say anything critical.
Flosey.... I cannot answer for all Americans, LOL... I would have to say that I would certainly defend my country if I believed that what they were doing was right.
I'm not sure what the origin of 'going dutch' is, sprite. Do you know?
Absolutely Haz... could not agree more. Luckily we have not been invaded since the War of 1812.
are there any words with ae like that?
as far as I know it means that dutch people are so cheap they don't even pay for your dinner when they ask you out
id agree with that, haz. same as how i can say im such a B* but as soon as the dear fiance tries to imply that im acting like one, ill whallop him good!
Don't worry Judi we're all just having some fun here this morning... nobody getting bent as far as I can see.
I can't imagine that Dutch people are cheap at all! It's a conspiracy. Who do we blame for spreading that particular rumour?
I have one at least, reen
I'm not bent
LOL Eva.... once my father in law called me difficult... to my father (who has always seen me that way... LOL), but my father got so mad at him..
5 ae words reen
Haz, how can you ask? FM of course :) And no, we dutch aren't cheap. It is one of those stereotypes... thought that was the topic.
Oh dear, I'm Dutch ... does that mean I'm cheap?
no way, Merk
I always thought it was washing your windows every week, and the streets, like cleanliness is next to godliness.
I nver thought of the derivation of that expression until right now...
I think the whole stereotype thing started with Berlusconi being knocked over the head - that led to talk of Italians etc and so on it developed....
yeah, that is part of it too, I think, Merk.
oMG Merk... my great grandmother Van Giesen (I'm not completely Irish)... was known for her cleanliness, so I am told.
It is amazing what distance does to cultural sterotypes. When I was in Kenya, all Americans, black or white, were lumped together as "Europeans"
Poor Mr B
LOL Haz... we do go off on tangents here.
phantom: desire
Hello, wht.
is there some link between the Dutch and splitting things? division of some sort?
oh that is fascinating, wht. Puts things in perspective, doesn't it?
Your Grandma's last name rhymes with my last name, Mom.
wht... I love it!
I don't know Eva.
I know, mom, but that's why I like the chat, a good conversation meanders.
Cool Merk.
phantom: foresee
Did I start that Berlusconi thing when I talked about my nose in the grid? I went back to lurking and haven't read the chat for the last 15 minutes or so.
EvaN: no, the origin is cheapness. There are jokes too. Like why doesn't a Dutchman likes buying a fridge (he can't be sure the light goes out after closing the door) or how was copper thread invented (two dutch fought over a cent)
The word for rich people in Khoi-Khoi is "Benzi-Benzi"... ya know why? Because they drove Mercedes-Benzes... LOL.
Yes, it's all down to Merk lifting her nose from the grid.
Yes Merk... you started it, LOL.
Funny, reen, I tried that phantom, too.
merk, you and your sweet nose!
Enough e, just not in the right places.
seems like Dutch jokes are pretty much the same as Blond Jokes and Kerryman jokes...
this is a toug puzzle
Thanks Sprite... ok.. now we have our answer.
lol, hadn't heard those sprite..
reen, I tried it after you said it was a phantom, certain it wasn't :D But it was, of course.
it is reen....
yes indeed, EvaN
Just realized I'm in the grid today. :-)
Yes you are Judi
I see you, Judi!
lol Judi, so you are
So you are! And Dorens as well.
oh wow, a double babbler grid
good spot, Haz!
can't you guys be valid??
Unfortunately, Dorens, we are proper nouns. Alas.
My father never allowed ethnic jokes in our house, Swear to God... he said they were demeaning... and he was right.
Why is puti not accepted?
takes double tt as far as I know
Or is it 2 t's?
IDK Hego... what is puti?
gaaah OPEN!!!
lol poor reen. No4, no open.
Those little angel things with just a head and wings
reen... you are sure good at finding the phantoms, LOL!
OK.. never knew that Hego... thanks.
yw
yes, very very good at that D:
oh I was thinking about those indian ritual suicide by fire when hubby di4.
OH Sprite... I certainly hope you would not do that!
i Ne4 more non-phantoms
i Ne4 more non-phantoms
Is that suttee?
never. But I can say that easily, because it is not my religion. There are strong reasons, in their belief, I think.
thanks Haz, that is it. I sometimes get confused.
Do they really still do that????
Clue for first ji4/9 and ju5/24, please?
Yes Haz I think it is... don't know if that is the spelling, but that is what the word sounds like.
It's outlawed in some states at least.
ji4/9 - same structure as that Italian word I never see.
sorry Judi... dont' have them yet... too busy chatting.
ju5/24 - biblical traitor
a sword has a hi4, start j. But don't know if that is the first.
Ah... I always miss that one, too Haz.
ooh, ty Haz.. missed that one
thanks Haz
You're welcome.
tx Haz
very interesting figure in the bible, he.
I'm assuming everyone else never sees that Italian word either!
Ty for the J's.
thanks sprite.
one I frequently miss, Haz. Like the at the ocean word. And ocean itself.
And fireworks for me.
YAY, Zooz!
good for you zooz
Well done, zooz!
yay for zooz!!!
wtg zooz!
Niece and asea join the ranks of the never spotted.
No Haz, I never see it either and I speak the language!
I never see numbers when they are written out... like if eight is in the puzzle I am confounded, LOL.
Any clues for the fo 8/55 please
I used to miss raia , but now I see it
those are sneeky too, indeed, m2h8
fo8/55 - a compound word, think in terms of old style shipping.
wow Aloy, you learn! That is more than I can say for some words, grin.
fo4+sa4
takes a while though, sprite... a looooong while, lol
thanks haz
lol are you around here longer than I have, Aloy?
You're welcome.
I can never understand that first nu 5. How can you be more nu 4,6. Either you are or you are not.
no, sprite.. you are my Babble Elder, (-:
no, about a year shorter even. Guess you are just smarter than I, Aloy
Oh! Part of a ship!
ok... gotta run and do the domestic goddess thing... UGH! What I would really like Santa to bring me is a laundry room on the same floor in which I generate the most laundry, LOL. Not gonna happen.
OMG Merk.. I know.
*giggle* Made it to elder!
Hell with the laundry room, mom. Just ask santa for a maid.
Bye mom. Just be glad you're not having to do it all by hand, can you imagine?
ah Judi... from your mouth to God's ear.
These new houses that have their laundry rooms right by the bedrooms where the most laundry is generated ... wow ... what a concept, and it took forever to think of it.
heaven's, no Sprite.. "raia" took forever
there are gradations of nu4. Like having a low neckline in church can be nu5 than being nekkid in the sauna
True Haz... when I ask my husband or daughter to throw a load in they look at me like "What???"... and I tell them that I am not asking them to drag it to the river and bang it on a rock!
LOL
OMG Merk... I know. Awesome.
selfcleaning house and clothes, and selfcooking dinners. Selfshopping groceries. Santa, please.
next to the bedroom is nice.. if.. you have quiet machines
I think we'd all change less often if we really did have to put physical effort into washing.
I hear that in Europe they have those machines that wash AND dry... can you even imagine that???
A running dryer is good white noise to induce sleep.
oh yes Haz. Like in the old days, when they had a weekly dress and a sunday dress. And that was it.
I think you are probably right, Haz... but I will do sacrifice doing the laundry to wear clean clothes, LOL.
i need self-writing and self-sending christmas cards. i just couldnt be bothered this year, so no ones gets any from me. :/
very "green" practice!
We have combined washer-driers, yes, but they're not great. The wash is okay but you can only dry half a load at a time. The washing line is a great thing!"
they eat power like there is no tomorrow though, m2h8.
Cleanliness is next to laundress.
Yes Sprite.. but what might they all have smelled like??
Do they, Sprite? Interesting.
our spoiled noses wouldn't like it one bit
and what Haz says: you have to be there anyway to remove half of the laundry before drying, or you have to wash half washes. I use the line, and if need be, a dryer.
Haz... I love line-dried laundry... unfortunately I don't live in a climate where that is always realistic.
I've just found a laundry related sa7/32. Descriptive of the implement when drip dry fabrics were invented.
And I can't imagine line-drying my panties and such, LOL... the neighbors would certainly have something to talk about, LOL.
ty Haz, looking..
I'm easily pleased, I love hanging out washing. Or maybe I have Dutch blood and appreciate not having to pay!?
I think I am about to learn a new word then, haz
Maybe it should be when wrinkle-free fabrics came on the scene.
no doubt about that, Haz... economical and cleanliness combined, that must be dutch blood talking
I can barely get the family to throw a load in the dryer... can you imagine if I asked them to use clothespins??? I don't even know if my kid has ever seen a clothespin, LOL.
Who knows, sprite, I've only got back to the first part of the 19th century with my family tree. There's time to find Dutch ancestry yet.
OK.. really going now.... all of this crud is not going to do itself. See you all later... nice chatting, as always.
could you please dummy down the clue for the sa7 for me, Haz? Or will I feel fishworthy when you do?
se 7/32 - any clues please
It's a morose dewrinkler. Compound, kind of.
bye m2h8
gran, I've been looking for that se7 for a while.
thanks, that did it, New for me indeed :)
great clue! got it now, tyvm Haz
Finally got it.
se7/32, first three letters of not junior, last letters are shortsight - my****
and thanks again, another new word
ditto, ty Haz
Thanks Haz got it too
Glad to help with sa and se 7.
I've never seen that se7 before.
in case somebody other than me wants to know, it means: Improvement of near vision sometimes occurring with aging because of swelling of the crystalline lens in incipient cataract
brb.. refill time
Good Morning all. Thisseems like a fun grid today! :-)
hi Nef, it isn't as bad as yesterdays
sprite, that's really interesting, mainly because I had a great-aunt who in her seventies suddenly could dispense with reading glasses.
She always claimed she had got her second sight, it's interesting to know that it corresponds to a known process.
strange, isn't it. A blessing that comes with aging, not bad at all.
I've definitely learned something new today.
yes, me too. Rewarding grid and good chat.
It has been good, I agree. And now I really must get something to eat. I've still to tackle a few cards this afternoon so I'll need to keep my strength up.
good luck Haz, and have a nice day
Nice to see you all - enjoy the grid and the rest of the day. Bye!
*gone*

yvw flosey
pa7?
just working on pa now jane
pa + initials for a doctor + the first number
rhymes with what the folks on the si4lines do at football games
thanks
ty lbd
yw, :-)
done, and off I go to a buncha chores.. Happy Babbling, all.. poof
Back again. Hi Everyone
whoooo hoooooo ALOY!!
well done Aloy, enjoy your day
hi Nef
bye Aloy! WTG!!! YAY!!!!
is the 9 a compound word?
it's COLD here today. Either that I'm becoming wimpy in my old age :-/
no jane, do you want a clue?
does it have to do with heads of colleges?
yes
it's a plural word
singular doesn't work
got it, thanks!
yes, jane, like an incubator for heads of colleges
good - think singular has been in recently
better to work now!
any clue for the se7?
incubator, lol
se cons, sounds like poppy drug
yuk, 21 re words
ty, flosey! firebirds!
wtg lbd
WTG, lbd! YAY!!!!!!!
ty, ty, not as bad as yesterday's grid, but still some stinky words!
agree lbd
as I glare at these res
none of the re's are uncommon. one turns back on itself to get found.
I figure that if I can find the first half easily; the grid isn't too bad (they seem to all have some words I don't know lately)
tks lbd
i don't mind uncommon words, but those truly made up and obscure words drive me batty
or should i say battier!
yes, I find them annoying
LOL! You can say whichever is correct, lbd! ;-) You are the only judge of that!
lol, no one else is going to suggest either lbd
ahh, you're both sweet to say that. ((HUGS))
one interesting thing I've always noticed is that the babblets kind of run in streaks. If you run across a new babblet one day; you will see it in a number of grids the same week or 2
but it's true, lbd! *I* don't know if *I* can say that you are batty or not. *I'm* playing the same word game; so I can't judge someone else!
lol, isn't Maxine a hoot! I love her
I do too. I find it hard to believe a guy writes that comic strip
(I'm a slow typist today, hand joints sore; lots of mistakes)
arthritis, Nef?
yep. Sometimes aging sucks.
sure does! I've shrunk 2" and it has affected the scoliotic curvature in lower back
that's why Maxine is so cool!
yup, Maxine has seen it all
OUCH, flosey! BTW, I love your icon today. It's beautiful! Did you take that picture?
no, found it online but it is of the harbour in our village of Ganges
when we splurge, we fly out of the Ganges Harbour to Vancouver - saves 3 hours
Salt Springs sounds (and looks!) so beautiful thanks to you and jilli; it's one of those places I'd like to see someday.
just let us know when you're coming Nef - there are lots of babblers in our area - we're 35 minute ferry ride to Vancouver Island, lots of babblers in that area
sorry, got waylaid...I love Maxine. her creator says she's a combo of his female family members
I'm in and out, trying to get baking, cards, etc. done
oh, it won't be in the very near future, flosey. DH has MS and our health insurance is going up 60% in January. I don't think we will be travelling much
Maxine is the BEST. lbd, read your profile, h omeade Bailey's? Love Baileys
ouch Nef, 60%, wow, that really hurts
60% Nef, that is a lot
it's a delish recipe, peri!
the only ingredients I have on hand are the cocoa and the coffee :)
oooh, a dollop of Bailey's in our morning coffee would be lovely
don't drink scotch
lbd, may I borrow enough scotch to make the recipe?
we were blessed with 4" of snow last night - really messes things up here because the ground isn't frozen, makes it very slippery
LOL, peri!
44 left here
snape and jedi
my last word is the se7, any help please
neither works, science! :-)
i know what a shame!
se + opp yes + *** Isadora
i tried those too, geek! lol
ty
well it never hurts to try!
Thanks, probably never would have found it. Finished
Peri, buy a cheap pint of scotch. it all gets blended together. uhm don't use bourbon tho, it makes it taste different
whoooo hooooo BUBBA
WTG, bubba YAY!!!!!!
will do, lbd
how much does the ercipe make, lbd?
recipe even
I figured you were already sipping it, peri ;-)
haha
sure looked like it
must make around a quart or so?
a blender full, lol
does it hve to sit a while or can it be used right away. might be fun to make it for New Years. I am going to a party
aging? HAHAHAHA nope it's ready to be consumed as soon as the blender stops!
new maxine is up. there are a couple i really liked, so i'll start of with this new one.
lbd, does it matter if it is dark or light rum?
(sounds like lbd doesn't let it sit long!
where do you get the Maxine icons, lbd?
i don't think it matters, peri. i'm not a rum officianado
ok, will let you know how it turns out, lbd cheers!!
lol Nef. my sisters have proven that it doesn't need to sit for long. i'm more of the tea tottler.
I make it for gifts for my neighbors. i shouldn't enable their drinking behaviours, but what the heck. i've also used it the truffles i make.
wow this is giving me a major headache. probably need the list with 111 left
I hear you lbd. I seem to have the puking genes when it comes to booze in our family (we have several alcoholics, I wish that this gene was shared by them!)
i've worked with alcohols in my previous career, and that pretty much took the punch out of me. I'll take a small shot of baileys in my hot choc or coffee, but i'm really a light weight. asian gene factor too.
runs in my family on both sides!
irish and american indian ---nuf said
alcoholism or the puking gene, geek?
oh...nm
alcoholism
LOL, science! Alcoholism runs on both sides for me too; but one side is Irish and the other side is Norwegian (not really noted for drunks in my neck of the woods)
lbd, did you work with alcohols or alcoholics? Just curious
uhm actually both, Nef. I was a bartender as well as a counselor! professional on both levels.
yes i have learned that i cannot drink because i cannot stop......
geek, at least you learned that lesson before it ruined your life!
you are wise to have learned that lesson, science. Many people don't
hi everyon
yes, but it still make mistakes on occasion!
hi Sheimi
hi Sheimi
hi sheimi
hey sup guys XDD
how maney words four todday pliese?
216
science, just keep working on it. The occasions become farther apart that way
thank yoou
i have to go now. ciao
tis human sg, we all fall down in one fault or another, I had a very dear aunt who was an alcoholic, also chain smoker, had a gravelly voice but very easy to listen to - a wonderful woman who cared for and took in stray animals
(she sounds like my step-mother, flosey!)
her husband stuck by her through many mishaps
can any1 help me please with un/6
okay my friends, i best be getting my backend motating. i've decorations to dig out and put up! bbl to clue and chat.
un6 - dislike something
ty flosey and nef! it is a challenge.
be strong sg
it takes strength of character to own up to our flaws
problem is that i love to drink - suppose that is the major issue! lol
could someone please help me with sa7?
and even more strength to avoid getting sucked into those flaws.
indeed Nef
sa7 - compoundish word. A morose dewrinkling device.
ty haz great clue
You're welcome.
science; drinking is fine; just stay away from the alcohol. I like the taste of alcohol; but hate the after effects. I had to finally come to realize that I liked not puking more than I liked the taste
I really thought Haz wrote a "mouse dewrinkling device"
thanks Haz
You're welcome, flosey.
great clue; and I mis-read it too! :-)
Like in some of the Tom and Jerry cartoons?
Where a great weight falls and renders Jerry flat as a pancake?
LOL!
Tom and Jerry - the original name of Simon and Garfunkel.
clue for the do 6???
how do you mean, Haz?
do6 - plural for a type of fish.
Literally, when Simon and Garfunkel first formed, they were named Tom and Jerry by their recording firm.
that doesnt help me......clue for the fish?
paul simon being jerry, I presume?
do plus an anagram of a word meaning 'to get up'
Or, pretend that the do4/5 preceding ended in a y, and make it plural.
really, Haz? that is very odd (of course they were "unusual" looking !
ty haz got it
Help please with pe 4, after the spanish man
i was going the wrong way on the grid
I don't know which was which.
They only really achieved fame once they got a bit older and changed their names to Simon and Garfunkel.
pe4 - past tense of to urinate in childish fashion
inge pe double the vowel and add a cons
there are a couple
thanks Haz, that deserves a fish
Glad you got it, inge.
Okay, I've got the last of my cards to post, Spangle can come for the walk. Off I go again. Bye!
bye dear!
bye Haz
could anyone help me with the second li6/21 please?
extend the li4 before it flosey
thanks zooz, guess I missed one way, thought I'd tried them all
yw :-)
there is another like that with nu5
you have nu4 (no clothes on) then you have another four words varying ways to say nu4..lol
too bloody cold for that!
LOL, your not wrong Ata...supposed to be getting alot colder as the week goes on.
had frost outside AND inside the car this morning!
well i am sort of lucky ..as i have been off work since monday...go back friday :-)
zooz, are you cluing the second li6/21? still not finding it
how cold is it where you are? It's still -2 (F) here in MPLS, MN
so i can stay in my warm bed for longer..lol
not that cold LOL. we're wimps over here! It must have been about -2C
I admit I slept in till 7:30 this morning, it was quite lovely
li6,21 you put red ***stick on + bottom word without the`r`
Oh ATA. 7:30 is not sleeping in. Now me, -I- can sleep in ;)
it's my day off too today. I'm still in my flannel nightie with a lap robe on and it's nearly 11 AM here! (I'm really sluffing off today!)
tis for me!
Nef we do not get very cold snaps like you do..lol....-6oc is very cold over here..haha
ty zooz, was confused by your first clue
yes sorry flosey..i think i gave you the wrong one...i am always doing that.
Hello NB
What time is your usual start, Ata?
np, found it now
Hi, Zooz :) I'm making no pretence of trying to finish the grid today - sort of babbling whilst cooking
about 5:30 - 6. Only because my stupid body continually wakes me up then!
what are you cooking, NB?
oh, Ata! I hear you about the body waking you! It's a PIA when that happens!
well i have finished the grid earlier, but i did start about 9:00am
ooh, some old Korean dish that I don't know the name of. Always a big hit, got lots of lovely things in it - wish I knew the name...have the recipe off by heart though
my body seems to think insomnia is a really cool thing!
Oh man, Ata. If I could, I'd throw my bodily alarm clock against the wall.
well dish some out then..i am hungry here.
clues for u's?
I try I try :)
un +fo4
what's in it, NB? I'm not familiar with Korean foods, there are a fair number of Koreans here, but most restaurants are so-called "Chinese" or "Asian"
once up** a time
Not for aaages yet :D still got a thousand other things to chop and measure out half-teaspoons of and spice and taste and boil and simmer and...ugh
another up4
un + low calorie mayonaise - the `e` on the end
u word= dark
thats the low calorie one :-)
Surprisingl, Nef, in many chinese restaurants they do LOADS of traditional Korean dishes that are just masquerading as Chinese! You're probably more familiar with it than you think :)
yep. :-)
and as such I feel let down by 'udon' not being a word, though that's more japanese.
That's what I think, NB. I used to do a lot of wok cooking; but now that DH is retired, he runs the kitchen and he never mastered the wok
change the second letter NB and you have a word :-)
thanks Zooz :D
did any of those clues help Mkg?
yeah... udon isn't a word... and yet a japanese martial arts is a word... go figure
mmmmmm udon
it`s no good, i had better get something to eat, really hungry here, bbl
where's the justice, hmm?
NB, what makes a food Korean vs. Laotian or Chinese or any other Asian food?
good morning all
hey nancyboy how did the move go? are you happy in your new home?
hi ruru
No idea really Nef, I just go by what my relatives used to tell me ;) although to hear them talk, EVERYTHING was a Korean invention...
especially ice cream
Hey Ruru :) thanks for asking - the move was absolutely awful, but I'm glad I'm here now. Had to do it at one point, and it's great to have that pressure off.
good.. I am really glad for you. Now you can be you.
Thanks Ruru :) was a bit tearful yesterday, but re-evaluating everything today. So great to have so much support from all the babblers!
and you will have a *ball* around Soho
woohoo NB, so glad you are happy!
hi everyone!
would love clues for the 8 s
hi UK Lindy!
LOL hi Ata! (0:
Thanks, Lind :) did try phoning home today to see if appa had calmed down, but he hung up
Ata, did you use to live in/around here? You seem to know it :)
leave him a while ... especially over CHristmas!
just give him time, he will come round
I used to live in Hoxton then Greenwich, but spent a lot of time in SOho :)
I am moving down south NB!
NB, don't try calling yet. It may work better to send him a letter in a week or so
Where are you right now, Lind? :)
hi Nef! (0:
maybe even give it a little more time NB
You're all right, of course. I just have a short attention span. I want everything done yesterday..
I'm in Yorkshire for Xmas NB, just moved back from Toronto!
hi Lindrick. How are you doing? Are you all settled in yet?
staying with friends & family for Xmas then will look for a house to buy in jan
but I am very good thanks Nef & you?
NB, it takes time for others to understand. Parents have certain "plans" for their kids; it will take time to adjust for him
near me! yay!
I'm staying warm today for now
mkg are you still there... i can help you now
who me Ata?
:)
Fireworks, whew!!
is it cold there Nef?
Yahoo flosey!
YAY, flosey!!!!!! WTG!!!!!!!!!
any clues needed before I stop for breakfast?
can you help me with Li6,21 the second time
it is, Lindrick. It's -2 (F) now
li6, I had a tough time with that one
yuck Nef! lol
li- starts with part of your face, + ph*** something out
Li 6/21 things you kiss with & put cut flowers in a v***
really... that's not a word
Normally, I wouldn't think that is too bad; but today it's bothering me joint-wise
there are a lot like that today jmm
aaww not nice Nef (((hugs))))
tell me about it... i'm ready to go insane... 107 to go :s
ok, breakfast ready and I'm starved, be back tonight
Nef, that's frrreezing
bye, flosey!
bye flosey
ad 6/24 please?
jmmc, you have to know a smattering of chemistry, medicine, and foreign words (it seems) to guess some of these words here
hi car! sorry don't have that one yet
NB, I think it SOUNDS colder in Centigrade! I think -2 (F) is about -20 (C), right?
oh I am so pleased I have left North America!! lol
car.ee, it's ad + part of language
ty Nef (0:
Ok. thanks!
ad + not verb
Nef, I refuse to believe that, because it's insane. Frankly. It's about 4 degrees C here and I'm FREEZING. Nobody can survive that!
NB with the windchill it got down to minus 40 c in Canada!
Don't you just want to barricade yourself in the house and drink warm things all day?
(PS though, I'm a sissy)
LOL
and do DE 6/24 and 7/36 have anything to do with the DE 5/12 just before them?
LOL, NB! Believe it or not; there ARE homeless transients here yet (they seem to move to warmer climates once the real cold sets in)
you just have to live with it really!
but just talking about it made me cold...either that or the door's just sent a blast of cold air in
I grew up in NW Minnesota and moved south for the warmer climate here! It often got down to -40 (F) temperature wise! (International Falls, MN isn't known as the ice box of the nation for nothing!)
I like the cold here at only minus 5 c at the worst! lol
brrrrrrrrrrr
I didn't grow up in International falls, I grew up about 60 miles south of Canada and 50 miles east of North Dakota. The wind chill was nasty
the windchill is unbelievable!
brb
car.ee, I don't have the de5 yet (trying for it) but the de6 & 7 are related to each other
May I please have a clue for that 6 then? I don't mean to be DE*** (5/12) but I am just not seeing it!
back! ty car! (0:
Oooh it was the door, which means I have my spring onions now
near my hometown right now it's -8 (F) and has a -30 (F) wind chill. It's MUCH warmer here! :-D
de +po4/5
ty Nef (0:
TY! I didn't have that PO word but now I do!
that's why I TRY to clue with words from the grid if possible. :-) Doesn't always work, but I try
And now DH says I HAVE to get dressed and start doing stuff. :-/ See you all later! Happy Babbling!
bye Nef, take care
you too, Lindrick. <Poof>
See you Nef :)
bye nef
whoo pee its lunch time!
hi jmc! how are you?
Hi Jmc :)

well I am in town stid, but yes! I am going for an indian in about an hour!
I dreamt that Evergreen was in Portland and you lived next door and instead of being a student I was teaching grad school. very very strange
what's an indian?
For you, Eva, anything ;)
((EvaN)) see you again soon
an Indian meal stid! lol
you had breakfast before you told that story right?
oh! LOL we just call it curry.
and indian is a wonderful motorcycle
indian is more than curry :)
ok, ill be quick like a bunny. :) *flashes outta the chog like a jackrabbit*
well you can get chinese, thai & various other curries here!
sag paneer is my all time favorite dish
mine too, jmc
well, I really need to work on my self-evaluation (speaking of evergreen) and getting a lesson plan pulled together for tomorrow (speaking of teaching)
mmm I am getting hungry now!! lol
mmm i like saag paneer too (when done well)
let me evaluate you stiddie!
dorens are you ever going to play lexulous again?
I like thai food. my current favorite is wide noodles and broccoli (but the name escapes me)
if only you could, jmc! LOL oh well.
hey doren! ((hugs)) see you-all later I hope. *poof*
j, i was just going to mention that... sorry. i've been swamped but will do it this afternoon when i get home. promise

I'm not!
i'm here still j, but you have no room to talk?
yea!
I can talk for a while but am going to have to stop in a bit for a *shudder* conference call
NB, your favourite Neil Young song is my favourite Neil Young song. Best thing ever
ata did you got somewhere over the weekend?
well i'm at school.. being antisocial and eating lunch at my desk so i can get some words in
ata you were in the cotswalds..
I LOVE it Ata. Was listening to it just a few minutes ago, too :)
and i could never pick a favorite neil young song.. there are soooo many good ones
lovelovelovelove it too
yes... that is one of them, for sure
I was up at sister's
my staff is all having lunch together so i get to babble
and how is she doing?
still in hospital, but getting there :)
how far is she from your home?
it's about a 3 hour drive
Good evening all....... Ata sorry to hear your sis is in hospital again
that's not too bad... my son's 3 -4 hours depending on traffic (sometimes 5 on a bad day!) and i do that every month. lots of time in car
hi cait
hi cait
sounds familiar, doren! though the drive home on Saturday was 7 hours, after getting stuck in a big accident
ughhh.. hate that
yikes!
lucky i have comfortable car, and thank god for audio books
i like long drives with audio books
I dont like long drives at all these days, as a driver I am a terrible passenger!!
me too
well i am only a passenger when my son drives -- otherwise i drive
if I could I would never fly I would always drive
hey Jmc, i am trying to see what lexulous program is like....it says i can try it before siging up..but i cannot see where i am supposed to click nest..this is where i get too....http://www.lexulous.com/solitai re_lexulous.php
I think I must be getting old ......I always think there will be an accident, as there are some terrible drivers on the road,is it only me thinking that ?? LOL
let me look zooz
thanks :-)
i now there are terrible drivers but I am such a good one I assume that I can avoid them!
brb
Good thinking jmc
try driving over on the isle of wight Caitlyn..they are mad over here.
The roads dont seem very busy there zooz are the mad spots ?
it might look that way, but lots of the roads have been over taken by the teenagers in there done up cars , which are far too powerful for them to handle + the roads were not made for that style of driving..lol
ok, so maybe it was more like a really old bunny with a bum leg, but im back! :)
Hi Eva !!
hello, Eva
Are there many accidents then zooz?
zooz click on the word "practice"
*awaiting proof that NB didnt escape whilst i was gone*
for the size of the island, i would say more than the average...there is always some-one you know who knew the person who got killed...and most of them are teenagers.
but that is not the lexulous we use -- we use the one on facebook
Very nice ring Eva..congratulations.
he was here chopping onions a minute ago
oic..oh well..never mind...just wanted to see what it was all about...thanks for looking for me Jmc :-)
are you not on FB?
TY zooz. i rather love it myself. ;)
That is always so sad zooz. I think I have frightened Ata away LOL
I would be willing to sign up for lexulous if you want to play
so, i don`t use them..jmc..not a fan..i have got myspace, which i did for my son to use..but he is old enough to have his own account now..lol
Ata, is probably deep in the grid.
Proof is here! Sorry, sorry, had to rescue a pot :)
sorry! I had to let pup out
what did I miss?
so was supposed to be NO..lol
Oh Im glad I didnt scare you both off Nancy boy and Ata
you saw my note about clicking on the blue word practice, right zooz?
NB and Ata. 2 of my favorite babblers. :)
(((huggles)))
I am playing the computer now without having signed up
you couldn't, Cait :)
*sniff*
:)
oh poo...sorry i missed that...*looking*
*squeezes* FAAAVOURITE :D
Whats the matter jmc??
oh gosh things are boiling over -everywhere-. Why does this happen?!
I didn't make eva's favorite list
*blows nose in hankie*
jmc -- my list of favorites is long and wide. :)
Because you took your eye off the pot Nancy Boy
nope that did not work it is trying to make me play www.lumosity.com, which i have already done.
:-)
But I swear I didn't Caitlyn :O
have you got a cold Jmc :-(
i think its my fault NBs pot is boiling over. i made him take his eye off it for a moment. :(
bad Eva!
i think it would help if i read the chog properly
http://www.lexulous.com/solitaire_lexu lous.php and then click on the blue practice
If you are still here Nancy then turn the pots off and get a take away
it will work --- really zooz
we love lexulous
LOL Caitlyn. Eva - not sure Leo would fall for it if I blamed you!
zooz doesn't do FB
jeez, after i said Ata was one of my favorite babblers, she scolds me! maybe i need to re-think my list...
i know Jmc, but you try it..nothing happens..lol
*waves hand high in air* pick me pick me
NB, just point him to my photo shoot pictures. im sure he would understand -- many a babbler has been, erm....distracted by them. ;)
Am I any where on you list Eva (waiting with baited breath)
*coughs* I'm the only person here who creates art for you *smug*
LOL, jmc
You do smug so well Ata LOL
this is true, ata. i wish i had time to get the art put on me!
(boy is ata getting smug or what?)
LOL Eva. I'm not making him dinner just for you to make him dribble it down his front!
the time will be right when it is :)
Howdy folks! I know I am going to need the fish, but can someone clue the re7? I am just not seeing it!
sorry, the last re7
NB, methinks youre more likely to make him do that than i am!
little bits left over
re7 little particles left
Leo is a great name
Hi Jen
like gunpowder
ahhhh, thanks zooz! such a relief!
hi caitlyn!
zooz 1) go to www.lexulous.com 2) click the blue word play live 3) click the word at the top that says practice 4) pick solitaire or computer
yw Jen :-)
ok..will do.
You might make him rethink men vs women. in his words (he's reading over my shoulder), he's gay "by accident". Charming ;)
hi Leo!
*contemplating an accident which causes gaydom*
?? how does that happen? he was tying his shoe + some lovely gent tripped behind him?
Hi Leo, (waving from Wales)
{{NB}} How did the move go?
*contemplating whether "gayness" would have been a better word? gayosity?
(he says hi back Ata, and scuttled off blushing :D)
Greetings Babblers! Got a minute here to Babble.
hi chio
EVA!!! LOL
Hi Judy!!
*grins*
oops sorry NB
*giggle*
oh sod it i will just sign up, see what happens then.
Hi Judy! :) move went terribly, really terribly, but I'm here now and that's what matters :)
hola all! it is almost time for a big break!
Jmc...gaiety maybe? ;)
soooo sorry NB. But at least it's over!!
you want me to sign up too and we can play each other?
hi science!
well that was easy..:-)
Hi Caitlyn, Ata, jmc, geek, zooz *who did I miss*
Thank you, Judy :) and quite right, what's done is done. I did what someone suggested and wrote him a letter, but he ripped it up. Going to try again after a rest period...
Eva! Hi Eva!
good zooz should I sign up?
im not quite sure why (perhaps it is because i have been researching wedding stuff all day?) but i am feeling disgustingly sentimental and i just want to hug everyone today...
ok jmc are you going to meet with that person?????
helloooooooooooo!!
you must be joking...i need to practice first...i want to see how rubbish i am first, before you show me up..hahaha
so sad NB. But your Babble friends are here for you!
oh dear, NB what story have i missed??
*giggle* he sent me a copy of one of the sets he did with the band in the 1970s
well let me know when zooz
Just LOVE that icon Eva!
will do, diving into it now...*holding nose & closing eyes*
Oh Eva, I forgot you weren't here yesterday when I was reporting back :) well, long story short, it ended up as the worst case scenario. Horrible, horrible, horrible moment :/
Got that right Judy! I mean what I say in my profile you know ;)
TY judy! i just love wearing it! :D

Sorry you have had a rotten time NB but that is great what you have said in your profile ((NB))

oh dear, NB. is this about your padre?
the babble family is closer than a lot of real families
thanks, Caitlyn :) *hugs*
Congrats Eva I havent chatted much for a while........I love a babble wedding
o a rock band -- in those days on willy nelson had long hair and sang country
And, got it in one Eva - mum's sort of okay with it but dad handed me all my baby pictures in an envelope, saying he didn't want me in the house, and then said if I left to pursue -that- then I shouldn't come back.
http://tinyurl.com/ydvs3as utube but no video-- jsut sound -- he is the vocalist and had waist length straight beautiful red hair
and smoked pot...lol
i am hearing the romance of nostalgia
Play Lexulous We are trying our best to fix the site as soon a possible. The site will also be getting a new look shortly. So please bear with us! - Admin

Eva when is the wedding? Do I need to buy a new hat soon?
well, i was hearing it in your description of his HAIR. LOL
aren't we playing on FB science? I get confuse because my babble name translator got lost with my computer :-(
only for the long hair -- it was beautiful
well i have no one to play with on FB! I guess I can find a game with you or you need to invite me to a game via FB
look at my profile, jmc - on the left is a link to a big list of babble names :)
ty ata I have been frustrated -- I kinda know them but then I get confused!
that guitarist can sure play well, not too keen on the singing though :-)
youve got until autumn -- i hope! venues are booked so far in advance! at this rate, you may have until autumn 2011!
it's not complete, but it's pretty good
all I see is the folding link let me refresh
the singer is who I was dating at the time
he wants to start it up again
brb

Ei5/12 -- think down
ty
okay, taking a break from the lesson planning, ten minutes and then off to write my self-evaluation.
remove the last letter for the other E
*sneaks into stiddies book bag and writes "wonderful" and "perfect" in indelible red ink all over her eveluation form*
Stids self-evaluation: "I am so great. Nuff Said."
ty eva
rofl EvaN! that actually is what I was thinking of writing to see if I can shock my faculty member. I spent the whole quarter focusing on what I wasn't doing well!
jmc! LOL
then help with the right hand O for nbt
OD4. just go straight down.
hope they don't mark off for bad spelling stiddie -- i think I misspelled wonderful when I wrote on your paper
*smack*
*hands the fish to jmc so she can use it on herself*
nbt and I am clearly starting my fish collection for supper
hm. oh well, jmc, it's the thought that counts!
*puts fish in fridge for later*
go jmc go!
okay must go pretend to do something for the salary I don't get paid
*poof*
jmc i am no good at lexulous, but i will try....you may have to coach me on the rules, etc.
thus you need to play and learn :)
it's the same as scrabble, just with 8 letters
I am also at NBT, and going to work on the self-eval... fortunately, it's a draft. I have some time to work on it after the faculty reviews it.
Ata, i am playing (poorly) at least I can do a few words lol
mnore stuff to do while pretending to work lol
go go science :)
hello all, back to find my last 36 words
oh my word, i got a bit freaked out ..i decided to take a look at face book..i signed up and all these people i know were on there ..the page said these are people we think you might know & want to add as friends...how the hell did it know i knew most of about thirty people it came up with...scary
it's clever like that!
it is fun zoom!
yup... it asked me if i wanted to "friend" the man from whom I've been divorced for twenty years
ph no dorens...bet that was a shock.
so you can click NO with great satisfaction
not really.. when you think about it... we both are friends with our three kids, so....
am I invisible?
hi peri!
lol dorens
ty, Ata, dear
ty, Ata, dear
actually i'm kind of happy that i can say that we finally are friends after a long unpleasant interlude. no peri, you're not
ello Peri :-)

am stuck in the re words
you happened in on the midst of an intense conversation... no offense intended
ty zoom
yw :-)
what are the rules? I've just signed up
do you just make words out of the letters?
ruby, if you click on the help button right above this, it will help you.
make words :)
look at the help above the chat.
words must be 4 letters long
ask for clues
and generally incomprehensible
hello Ruby, once you have read the help section...join in the fun.
but beware it is very addicting
sometimes nonsensical
Hello Mixi :-)
help with the first two or's pls.....
20 left, going to read for a while, bbs
ok got the first or what about the or 6??
nm moreworded it..
or + 4/5 of duck down
grrr why does my protractor keep vanishing??
hi zoozzoom
I haven't see a protractor in years Atalante
I wish I hadn't!
protractor, compasses, ruler, essential!
drawing circles? going in circles?
I remember having a protractor in Geometry and drawing pretty flower petals with it
I always draw circles. Lots of circles :)
I only had Geometry for a couple months. I don't remember drawing anything. (I do remember they had to give me an A for it).
woohoo 50%
definitely arty circles, not geometry :)
go harry go!
I took geometry in 10th grade and really liked it, plane geometry
my geometry teacher was 70 yrs old and a bit senile -- she gave us the same test twice :-)
what is a good score?
loved algebra and trig though
many many years ago. I didn't like calculus with geometry. Could never picture it.
we had all sorts of maths up to uni level. It never got divided into separate sections
racing in to Babble as quickly as possible - net is going up and down like a yo-yo! :(
Are Americans the only people in the world who refer to math in the singular?
yep :P
It has a plural?
i think so, bichon :-)
mathematics is a plural, after all...
A good score is what ever you are pleased with i suppose Ruby, i am not too bothered about the score, i just enjoy finding the words & either chatting or lurking at the chat..lol
hmmmm ....
exactly, it's not mathematic!
lol
OK, I'll try to remember that.
(puts on dunce cap.)
has M. Ed. in math (singular)
I've always heard students from around the world refer to it in the plural, as well as mails [which Americans only refer to as singular].
what is the reason for you lot using the singular?
your guess is as good as mine . . .
I live now in the South and they refer to it has 59 cent. Singular. Drives me up the wall. I guess it's a matter of learned or habit.
and we also don't divide it into separate subjects. it's just maths. in which we study calc and geometry and trig and and and
ah, more than one "math" lumped together = maths
but it's a general term. we study ethics, not ethic etc
ata, for me, "math" was a subject in the lower grade levels -- then in high school we "graduated" to algebra, geometry, trig, calculus . . .
no argument here -- just sayin' . . .
But it's always "math homework" not "maths homework"
I think of it as just another endearing way the English lang. varies... as in boot = trunk, bonnet = hood, etc.
if you hated maths, having to do 3 subjects must have been awful!
3 or 4 or however many
:-D
bye
bye, ruby ;-)
Yes, in my native New York City it was always "Don'tya" sounding like it had a ch in the middle
I always liked math in high school.
same for the my native dialect from here in Northern Virginia, bichon
okay, self-eval done! *happy mama look* I have some time to play.
me too, mixi
well done, stid :)
seain! hey there!!! how's the ice cream supply holding out?
hello, everyone
Bye ruby
yay for stiddy! (BTW I have heat -- old unit gone, new one installed)
hi dcseain
hey seain :-)
i went to a HS from math and science, but have always prefrered language, history, and music
do you just have science, or bio, chem and physics?
yay for heat! is it quieter too? Our furnace is really really loud. I can hardly wait for it to fail so I can replace it with something a little quieter...
bio, chem, and physics
fo8,45 plzz
din't like English and history.
old one wasn't loud, just cracked and rusted out and nearly 20 yrs old -- they said I was at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning -- yikes!
good!
LOL mixi! that's what I will teach (middle school, not high school though)
good that it's been replaced then, une.
indeed, seain! :-)
wow. so glad you have a new one then! Did they suggest/install a CO2 detector for you? We have two in our home, just in case (since everything is propane)
no, i think they figured I'm ok now
dogs are VERY relieved they're gone!
men in the driveway, men in the yard, men under the house! LOL
I bet!
I liked math, science and music.
and not in a FUN way! LOL
I would suggest a $15 battery-powered CO2 detector, Une. Even a new unit can malfunction. A friend of a friend died a few years back from CO2 poisoning from his heating unit
*yawn* wedding venue research makes my head hurty. :(
I liked biology and chemistry, and art, and latin and ancient greek
men! LOL yes, Lucky is never happy to have workmen and repairmen around
me too, mixi -- i remember being told that they go together (math, music, languages)
sorry to hear, evaN
biology and chemistry -- YUCK!!
crossy was in a b+b that was wood stove+wood boiler heat.was very nice, but everytime you come in from the snow and cold and sit in front of thast wood stove it was zzzz;)
I still say eloping is the way to go EvaN...
eva, looking for somewhere exotic? uber-romantic?
hello cross! *tosses bacon*
my HS had 65% of us in the music program
biology was the best. which is why I'm a biologist. LOL
howdy stid;)
hi crossy - i smell pork!
I liked chemistry, never took biology in high school, physics was fun. Organic chem was the BEST
My parents thought I would major in Math or Physics, so I ended up with a Bachelor of Music.
ata, i think so much depends on your teacher
music is the spice of life!
howdy science
i loved my genetics and recombinant dna classes. and chinese
they are related mix
utterly
I know.
i wanted to be a United Nations translator -- ended up teaching English as second language, working as editor, and doing freelance translation :-)
did I mention that someone offered to give our younger son a scholarship for a trombone lesson every month? We turned down the scholarship, but will contact the teacher and get him signed up starting next month.
music is the unversal spice of life, crosses all borders and boundries;0
fisheries science and marine toxicology were the best at uni. and palaeoceanography
But i'm a good enough musician to starve to death.
stiddy, i sat first chair trombone! LOL
how wonderful, std!
paleo-oceanography? *picture of Atalante at bottom of sea with a trowel and measure lines*
parasitology!
stid LOL!
oh yes, parasitology is always fun
oh mixi! I always think the standard band uniform is on purpose, they can go from concert to waiting tables...
LOL stid
palaeoceanog. is *fantastic*
ah, i well remember "band hat hair"
both our sons love music. the younger plays tbone and tuba and sings, the elder plays trumpet and piano.
I changed for my masters, then got a job computer programming for 30 year doing the same thing.
stid, that is fantastic!
I'm the only utterly unmusical member of the family
I'm working on a piano recital for my mother=in=law.
mixi, where are you in NC? my daughter was in Boone for 6 years
computers and music seem to have a lot in common.
wow, how wonderful, mixi
hm. sky looking like precipitation. again.
both very logical. I'm not a perfectionist, though.
nice, mixi
sister was a concert pianist and singer, step-father was director of the Royal College of Music and a well-known composer, and all family friends are stupidly brilliant musicians and composers
I can just about play grade 1 flute
it's precipitating through the fog today. Peculiar weather, not unwelcome.
golly atalante!
that must have been tough, ata
logical maybe, but also both can be very creative . . .
i love lite drizzle with fog. happy weather
i like sun! i suffer in the winter with SADD
I spent a long time annoying them all by liking Mendelssohn, which is considered very "light" in my family :)
I sing a little sometimes, and haven't met an instrument I can't play (yet -- though a clarinet is close); but I don't consider myself a musician as much as an appreciative listener
LOL ata
impressive, stid!
Texas, should get some sun, if it's not raining.
saying that, I can play pretty much any woodwind, and I guess I could get fairly good at them if I wanted to try. But I don't enjoy it all
I am a pianist. I used to sing in a choir.
As with languages, I get tired of the instruments long before I have mastered them.
do you ever wonder about the gazillion people who don't participate in the chog? do you think they just turn it off?
very cool atalante!
I took a semester of organ and found I didn't know my left hand from my feet.
that was a bit of a nonsequitur, Une! LOL
I did used to love playing bass recorder, and I'd love to learn to play the bassoon. but it;s low down my list of cool things to do!
i missed singing in the annual midnight Hallelujah Chorus this year :(
and yes, I do. I think a lot of people are more focused than I am
une, i read the chog for about year before i spoke up.
that's me -- queen of the non sequitur :-)
I don't actually like organ music. The way it's usually played, that is (dirge-like)
I have a recording, and put it in my CD player on LOUD, so I can sing along.
wow, really? seain, that's amazing
why amazing?
not very fond of organ music either
i wanted to understand the culture furst.
*trying to imagine chog w/o seain*
lurking for a year??
intentionally so :)
culture?!? roflmao *gasp choke chortle* for REAL?
*imagining seain analyzing choggers for a whole year"
stid LOL
pe5/12 porridge hot,pe 5/12 porridge cold;)
LOL
there were a few chog participants i wanted to understand before entering it.
there were a few chog participants i wanted to understand before entering it.
We have a culture w/in the chog, indeed, stid!
quite so, crossy :)
*scratching and belching* <-- my contribution to the cultural milieu...
hello all
ROFL stid
oooooo this sounds intriguing
I can understand that, seain. Some of us are a little peculiar.
yer crackin' me up, stiddy!
Hi! lindy
im so full of culture,i just hand it out in small doses;))
speaking of peculiar, hello as! *grin*
hey, lindy :-)
who were the weird ones??
gee, thanks! =)
ignores stid belching
what was the name of the couple that was so active in the chog back at the beginning? Brits methinks
yeah. cross'n'me bacon-breathing denizens of culcha
ooh, found the na5 anti-zenith
Anj and Lola
;))
tx, seain!!
lola + anj!
Anj shows up sometimes still -- about twice a year. I miss them.
yes!! tx ata!
*pops back in* back. Little mini powercut - neighbour did something with a wire/fuse/other electronic things I'll never understand
thanks for the n5!
*smothers NB with huggles*
me too
hello Nancy Boy! you missed all the culture talk!
hey there NB
lola is on FB and i hear from anj once in a blue moon...
*is smothered* :D so dinner turned into a candlelit dinner, LOL
hey, nancy boy -- lurked thru your trauma -- so sorry but hope the future will be wonderful!
how romantic! or did the power just go off and you had to?
tx for the update, eva!
god,i can remember the days when we actually used to jam pennies in behind glass fuses, cause we were so far from the nearest town.lucky we never burned ourselves down
Thanks, Unea :)
hello -- looks like everyone is in fine form as usual :)
I must have typed "found" and round" a gazillion times today
hey nan! here to add some class, I hope!
howdy nan
We had to Stid, LOL. Nice anyway though! Have to start turning it off every night. Cooking by candlelit is no joke though!
crossy, i remember those days!!
me?! - rofl
ro5 is a base for sauce
hey, nan!
welcome, nan
lots of eastern currency today
ro5? not roux?
hey harry!
hi stid
you are correct, une :) me and my malapropisms
no une a misspelling
you took the words away from my fingers une
ok, now i'm curious about ro5 LOL
weird ones????? look whose talking! And I resemble that comment LOL
ooohhh, the cathedral town, right?
I think the RO 5 is like a city in france, start like sauce
anyway, got 169 to get in, hm...one hour. We're out this evening. Living together is so cool!
ah -- ro5 -- french town
yes, impressionist subject
and an insult in English
go Nancy Boy go!
it is?
oops, ro4 sauce base-like :"> i can count!
and a beautiful cathedral
LOL Stid. How charitable! :)))
ro4 is the insult
what's that, seain?
is it me,or are these grids getting tougher/:((
really? ok, new word for me!
HALFWAY!!!!!!
I've suddenly hit a very happy pocket after some morose times. I put it down to Leo and you fine people!
pronounce roo?
yay stid!
go, stiddy!
I gave up and listed at exactly 50%
rou4 can be a lovable insult though
oooh. is bf Leo?
yaa for nancyboy
ro4 defined: http://tinyurl.com/yak6lk4
NB. im sure you can manage 1 69 in an hour. ;) :X
ohhhh, roo-ay!!
bf is Leo indeed :) he's had his babble welcome. the enthusiasm embarrassed him and he slunk away :)
still need 4 f's -- they must be really weird
NB LOL!
poooor Leo :P
He's fond of you Ata. LOL
aha! *waves at Leo in the background* well let him know he can lurk -- seain lurked for a year, apparently!
LOL NB
NB dear, are you an FB?
and the p's go on foreever!
forever...oops
*grin*
No way Stid, he's picked up the habit of sitting down behind me and pointing out alllll the words I've missed. Adorable but infuriating :D
lots of P today, wonder if Nutly will show up to make comments?
who is nutly?
LOL well somebody has to do it, Nancy Boy!
many of us lurk almost permanently. I've been downright chatty lately.
tom and i used to play together, than he got tired of my being faster than him
lol nancyboy,i do that with my mrs and it drives her round the bend
evanonut is nutly... because she loves squirrels SOOOOOO much (not)
I'm not, Eva! And I know I must be missing out, but I could -never- work it. I'm a complete technophobe. Email can flummox me at times
My kids do that Nancy. Very annoying. Especially when they find an easy one I missed!
hello kc! ((choclits and hugs))
Crossy, your missus plays?
No they do NOT Stid lol :)
she does, and is charming
if you can babble, you can FB :)
she does indeed, her babble name is elegant
grid should take udon - it takes ziti
LOL Kc, isn't it just?! he says, "why are you so hooked?....THERE'S ONE!"
*gasp* you never told me she babbles!!!! rofl. I thought it was just you!
li6 enzyme
thanks for articulating that seain!
exactly! I'm about to make them get their own logins...
ohh..the computer with the comfy chair is free...crossy goes computer hopping..semi-poof
my husband tries to do it. And so far, he's always failed to find something I missed. *smug*
Ata! You will get a rep ;)
down to 100. I shall have to head out so I have everything I need today. Nervous about meeting this teacher I am going to work with, but also excited. I think it will be SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!
how about hobbit? does hobbit babble?
good luck stid!
well done stid
oooh, best of luck Stid! Hope s/he is nice
wtg, and be well, stid
gah. it's raining MORE and still the fog doesn't lift. It's clammy and cold even inside with heat turned on.
Hobbit would be brilliant if she could be bothered :)
oh, for humidity at this time of year hereabouts
thanks for all the conversation and love, friends. Have a lovely afternoon/evening! Will return later to tell you all about it!
*poof*
omg done with the friggin p's!
seain, just saw that marriage equality passed in DC today!
hi all
later, stiddy
hey, jes :-)
Oooh I'm left feeling like Eva said earlier - all sentimental and loving of the babblers. You've all been so brilliant.
hi all... fo8,55 please
dont have it team
lol I just found that one! front wind catcher on a ship
i've still not encountered it, edward
fo8 not back + wind power on the open seas
ty, kc
got two from that :)
nice une ty
yw :-)
seain, just to satisfy my curiousity about your year-long silent observation, did you spook babblers when you finally spoke by your detailed knowledge of them and their little ways?
still looking lol
hello again, haz!
i hope not!
fo4 + sa4
LOL Haz
i know i can be pedantic and/or correcting, but i do hope i have some social graces.
Hello all - just passing through and intrigued about seain.
hi haz! hi la glitterataspaghattina!
and i'm shier than people think :)
It's just interesting - some players jump right in to chat, others never speak, I'm wondering where to place seain in the spectrum.
clue for the un 6 pls
Some like me come irregularly but NEVER shut up when they do.
Hello Ata! How's Hobbitellinarinaininininirarina's tail?
I thought seain always speaks
LOL nancyboy
i can relate, DC. despite my kooky persona, i am actually VERY shy in person. (hence why i have yet to actually make it to a babble meetup!)
dc are you a lawyer?
no, not always.
very much not, science :)
That is, Eva, until I pop up outside your front door.
un+fo4
lol what does that mean and give me the un 6 clue too lol
un 6: not liking something
still bald :)
we'll be happy to see you when you feel up for it, and feel free to bring fiance/hubby, as case may be. Baltimore in the weeks after Tax Day
I can understand the shyness, seain. But you've met up with other babblers and survived.
ty
well, i could never deny you, NB. i would smother you with hugs. :)
and survival is half the battle...;)
yes, even a few i see outside of regular meet-ups. And it was a friend of mine who referred me here
LOL Eva. At least you'd know it was me. I often wonder if I ever pass any secret babblers on the street...
Poor bald Hobbitella.
thanks fro the U, nan
it is like being in aa
all I can see as she's running is this little white patch on her tail LOL
which is like being in aa, science?
young, gorgeous, asian, gay man with a british accent? yes, i think id recognize you. ;)
It'll help to identify her in the dark.
being a secret babbler dc
LOL! I'm the one using your living room window as a mirror.
hm. a bit so, yes, i see your point :)
it would!
aha found it thank you all
Ah, but what sort of British accent? There are lots even though most American film producers seem to think Englishmen are either toffs or cockneys.
if thats the case, NB, you should come inside -- its cold out there!
as if most in US would understand Geordie
or however it's spelled
It's not hard to understand!
BTW Eva, I loved your biker chick shoot - you looked so badass!
finally down to the last 50 -- can list now!
i guess it is also the addictive quality of the game as well.......
*gasps* you mean all brits dont sound alike? i figured you all did funny walks and sounded like john cleese!
This is why Ant and Dec have yet to break the US
LOL evaN
lucky US!
LOL Eva!
TY NB -- i had fun doing that one. though, im STILL not sure where she found those boobs! ;)
I've met people from Yorkshire in Boston who said people there had trouble understanding them. Of course, the yankess have trouble understand me.
looks like you had fun! you can always tell when people are relaxed and enjoying themselves. Hence why my icon looks so...uncomfortable. To be fair, I was tiiiired
why cant i see the re 4/4's!?
re4/4 - a backwards prophet
ive worked with the photog a few times, so im comfortable with her + her assistant. but when you walk in + she starts talking about "your t*ts and c***" youd better get comfortable really quick! hehe
ahh much better, the good computer with the big leather swivel chair:))
haz?????
have that one
re4, set go?
Then another one is the same, but change the second vowel to another.
re4 - fix/make again
Are they all re4/4 you're looking for?
got them i was looking at the wrong part of my list.....gees need new glasses
LOL Eva. Guess it must help ;) although as you know breasts mystify me and make me completely flustered.
ty all
afternoon all...(lunch time!)
Afternoon, Pini :)
hi, pini
Hello, Pini.
hi NB, dc, et al
someone say bobbies? lol
NB...how'd your talk go?
just a secret between the 2 of us, NB, they mystify + fluster me too!
hi haz :)
boobies even
boobs???
LOL Crossy. I'm sure most straight men would kill to be me. There's so much boob action I don't even want!
lol,always happens that way nb
heh. there's a song called I wish I was queer so I could get chicks.
can I get a clue for the lowest left O and right E (for NBT)
Pini, not good at all :/ I tried your advice with the letter, since I knew I'd never be able to speak properly, but he ripped it up in front of me :/ so will try sending it again in a few weeks...but, here now, so that's what matters :)
its like when you get married lol'
hello all
LOL Jes. Youtube, now!
At least you tried, NB...give him some time (he'll come around...eventually)
hi peri ;)
ad 6/24?
hope so, Pini :) thanks so much for the advice and support though - I still think writing is a brilliant idea.
i went to see my friends band play a few weeks ago + i guess my girls must have been nicely displayed because they became the subject of discussion and study for at least a good half hour. the wife of one of the bandmembers felt obligated to bury her face in my chest. :X
when your single, you cant find it with a shotgun, once that ring is on you have to scrape them off with a putty knife;0..sorry ladies but true i guess once that glean is out of yer eyes ,you become safe again;0
* smile * You're welcome...
it's all horrible stereotypes, of course, but amusing if you don't take it too seriously
i love that song, jes. i love Bloodhound Gang!
nah. it's not about you, crossy, it's about wanting what some other girl has. womens are evil.
lol jes
last re7 pls
one thing Nancy, from one who has plenty of family issues, this is what I've learned: FAMILY are the people who love and care about you. The rest are just accidents of genetics and life is usually better w/o them.
LOL Eva! I'm really immature, talk of your "girls" just makes me giggly. Might call Leo in if breasts are the order of the day...
clues for the O and E in the bottom corners?
re's are killing me!
jes,the only think i know about women after 17 years of wedded bliss ,is that it has something to do with chocolate...lol
op4, pini
Oh Jes, after surviving several years as the gay kid in high school, I take EVERYTHING with a pinch of salt :)
oh, alas. its time for me to head home. still have a fair amount of holiday shopping to get done. wish i could stay + cuddle with you longer, dearest NB. :)

I am TIRED of being invisible
not everything, kc, just 99.2% of things ;)
peri!!!
invisible, peri?
I feel invisible as well -- have asked for 2 clues and never been noticed
rossy pounces on perri
yes I said hello earlier today and no noe answered for quite a while and I asked for clues for the re7 a few minutes ago
Wish you could stay too Eva :) will have to move onto my secondary cuddle buddy. sure he won't mind being referred to in such a way. Lovely to see you, as always :)
ouch*
sorry... not meaning to ignore you nan, missed the questions. in and out of chat (and probably dont have the words anyway!)
I'm looking for it peri -- don't have it either
even NB is ignoring me
sorry, peri. we really do love you.
Kc, just saw what you wrote! What a lovely and fitting thing to say :) and very comforting, thank you. I'm sure you're right!
sorry peri, sometimes chat moves too fast for this slow typer for me to catch everyone
How could I ignore you Peri :D Everything is getting buried in the chog!
taking a break -- brb
how are you, NB?
porch swept, cat confused by that, coffee ice cream in bowl, microwave beeping that chocolate sauce is ready. brb

you have a chimney in your arm, peri ;) ?
you know how i got my mrs to move in with me?? breakfasts all men learn how to make amazing breakfast as a lure to get them to stay overnight;))))
i got the 9 but no 8
thankfully, so far the only dramas i've acquired with the bf's family is that his folks are uber-conservative-christian and think the government is a huge consipiracy to intrude on their lives. but as long as we don't talk about those things, its good ;)
i believe in bringing wine
what do they start with?
wine. then breakfast. THat'd work too!
fo 8 x2 -- both compunds
Jes, I'm inclined to take you into a corner and jump up and down and squeal with you. Very excited about it :)
fo8
i think, peri, that this is one of those situations where kc's right--chocolate is your answer! :)
haha, seain
thanks cnan, dc, i got them!
Some hot topics to stay clear of Jes, do you end up talking about the weather a lot? ;)
lol chocolate,my bail out present for 17 years

hee! it's been a long time since I bounced and squealed about something.. my squee-ing sort of friends don't live locally any more :)

LOL Crossy

it's where we go when we type words in the blog. it's full of food and drink, and a fireplace, and a hot tub, and more!

i almost found my favorite needlecase in this grid, but it was just a phantom
anyone got clues for: the second li6/21; both re6/18; and the se7/32?
second li 6.21 is an enzyme (i think)

very nice, dorens :)
all hopes of a trip to the big apple went out the window this week -- $4700.00 to replace central air unit :-(
there are several shows i'd have liked to see, but thinking that this is for him, and he used to like opera very much and we've never been. I definitely spent more than i would have for broadway... production sounds terrific though, and i think he'll love it.
oh no une... so sorry!
sounds like a very generous, thoughtful gift, dorens :-)
wow, une, that's a big bite
a HUGE bite, yes . . .
annnnnnnnnnnnnnd FIREWORKS
reminds me of the time we shelled out $5,000.00 to the Roto Rooter guy right before Christmas
anyone need a clue before i pop off?
congrats pinny!!
bichon, sounds very familiar :-)
yay piinny!
congrats, pinny
And that was about 10 years ago, imagine what that would be in today's money
no kidding, bichon!
Anyone who sees a manicurist knows that pedi is a word! :o)
And since it was Dec. and they had to dig up the entire backyard to find the line they didn't fill in the trenches til spring
snout
ohmygosh!
ty, buff, foound a pe5 from that :)
Oh - I'm sorry - I was in the wrong box. PB for me.
i live in a land where there's road construction still in Dec, so not filling in trenches in Dec, at least here, would usually be inexcusable.
ah, seeing where you live bichon, than makes sense
same here, seain, seems never-ending!
it looked like a war zone. Oh, the joys of home ownership
do you get cold winters in Nashville Une?
they're widening 495 for the 2nd time in my life. I was 4/5 the last time. It's been surreal watching the clearing. It's weird seeing all of Tysons Corner now that the trees are gone.
it depends -- and it's like where seain lives -- a couple of weeks ago it was bitter cold, then yesterday it was nearly 70, then today the high was 37 -- wackadoodle!
yep. lke that here, too, une. Last week 70s. Then it snowed. Then 50s.
hey une and seain i made a mistake.. tickets i bid on were for turandot, not tosca
winters are definitely getting warmer in general -- i can remember below zero temps and a foot of snow at Xmas!
one Xmas, we got bikes, and were riding them that afternoon. We didn't believe our mom when she told as that they had to wait til Spring to ride where she grew up. LOL
it's still a lovely gift, dorens :-)
:-D
it has snowed on Xmas twice in my life here. We don't get much snow before Jan usually.
hello all
wb, lindy
hey, lindy :-)
It's been on the warm side and rainy here. Very un-New England [pout]
hi all--just popping in for a minute. recent chat reminds me of my furnace guy squatting in my Vermont basement three days before Christmas and saying "Well, let's just say you're not going to Italy this year--and maybe never."
in north jersey, where i grew up, christmas weather varied.. one year we got sleds, and used them right away. another year i got a pogo stick, and used it right away. sometimes snow, sometimes 50 degrees... oh well
hi aslindy, jayk and bichon
jayk! LOL
LOL jayk. that must have been disheartening
SO disheartening. He was Italian, so he knew it hurt

remember that kids rhyme...pe*** porridge hot, pe*** porridge cold, pe*** porridge in the pot, 9 days old - it might have been a skipping rhyme come to think about it
indeed, lyn, that's what i always think of each time that word's in the grid. Only context i've seen it in.

Hello, Red
wow.. lost me on that one zoo
re decorate, red, to upper right
if some-one fires a gun..it will leave tiny particles that forensic people would call re*****
thank you dc.. thanks zooz for trying
i need to decorate?
there are three re7`s by the way.
or6?
RED !!!
yes but the sticky re7 is off-putting
change vowel in or5 and add a vowel, dan
DR!!!!!! How are you?
tx dcs
I am well... and you?
I think I am ok. I have finally been offerred a new job, not sure if it going to better than the current one, but, it will be a change.
Change is usually good...
I am ready for new and different, I just hope new and different is new and improved, not more ot the same old....
I was walking down the hall at my office today and bumped into someone I worked with at my old job.
She just started working for our organization
oh- yes, new and improved is better than same..
when do you switch?
sa7?
I have to officially accept. the pay is a wee bit lower, but the drive is a whole lot shorter....
Probably some time in January.

se7 - paradise of old people
hi all
hi jmc
se + anagram of keyboard instrument
did anybody clue the SECOND re7?
ok back... Trying to remember about Least Common Multiples
oh dr kids will put you through school all over!
i am not sure I ever knew about least common multiples
Red- will you take any time off in between?
ugh.. I don't see it the se 7
i see the letters but am not getting them in the right order
Hi JMc and Dan
hi DR
hi dan2
which numbers? i can explain if you need help
(and hi, everyone)
se + negative answer + a ***no is a keyboard instrument
hi welki
hi jmc and all
ty luv
wow.. new one for me
thank you luv
yw jmc
the problem said the GCF was 56- find the 2 LCM... we figured out it was 8 and 7
is that right?
can I have a clue for either or both of the li 6/21's please?
yugh...i have no idea.
GCF?
that is why I am the spelling parent... the math parent is not home yet
greatest common factor
but you got it right, dr. you are now one of two math parents :)
but if LCM means the smallest numbers that can make up the number together that is correct
I got the last li 6/21 but still need the 1st one please
thanks Welki.. I was not sure
luv do you have the one that starts with mouth parts?
common multiples are two numbers that multiply to the same number ... so for 56, 7x8, 2x28, 4x14, .. the smallest numbers that multiply to 56 are the lcm
li6.18 is the plural of the li5.10
yes I need the one that starts with an untruth
li* and I live a life of e*** (ea4/4)
Ha I only have 80 words....
Hi dawger and Luv
I have 43
i have 146 left
hi DR
thanks Welki. we figured the 4x14 was not right because that would be 28
ok, now 87 words, 129 left....
li6.21 not truth + *** weinerschnitzel (sp)
like hosen I think luv
hosen
still stuck on the 2nd re7
sorry to be so dense but none of these clues are getting through the nogging
oh just got it! thanks everyone
li6 hosen are wore dancing the polka
dr, why they just can't simply ask, 'what are the two smallest numbers that multiply out to 56," instead of giving the number pairs fancy names ... enough to drive a kid (and parents) bonkers
exactly welki
yes it is! All I can say is I am NOT smarter than a fifth grader
should i start this grid?
OMG.... CBS cares just aired an as, telling me that as a holiday gift, my partner should schedule me a pap smear.... Thats just not right. though people should have them.
I really dislike Polka music
how badly do you want to finish if you start ;-)
re + not subtract but **d + little boy blue, come blow your h***
i had such a hard time with math as a kid ... only because i had an excellent professor later in life that i was finally able to understand the most basic concepts of math

i won't finish, that is just it
whoo hoooooo DAN2!!!
I've seen those ads-pretty odd if you ask me
congrats, dan
ty lbd
not if i did it for you, jm. you'd know it was done with good intention. on the other hand, i wouldn't care if you got ticked off :)
wtg Dan
thanks you jmc, its just soooo odd.
my sisters got me an appointment for my 50th birthday. that and a mammosquish.
O need to go for both of those,,, just got a call from the Dr's office
whooo hooo dan2
huh red?
lbd your sisters are awesome. a great birthday gift, for some reason on Xmas, I think it isnt quite the gift I'd want to get under the tree....
the mammotechs bruised me badly this last go-round
i am sorry but it is nobody's business when and with whom i make doctors appointments
oh, sorry to hear that Welki
well, my birthday is shortly after xmas. so, it kinda was a twofer.
fine. be that way. and i was going to attach the appointment card to the mega-sized bottle of Jack
is htat a pun Dawger??? :)
lol I'll take the jack
:)
not intentionally, DR. lol
mammosquish?
this grid is not too friendly is it?
good name for it
I was just thinking it is a SLOW grid
it seems to go in fits and spurts
no, it's not, red. i really need to quit my job so i can spend more time babbling :)
me too welki
You Go Welki, I wonder if thats possible.
i got through about 175 before i hit the wall on this grid. then the list helped a lot!
just *wishful thinking* ... might as well add a pony into the equation, i've always wanted one *lol*
oh dear, killed the chat .... or you folks are arranging my early retirement and pony delivery
ahh no then you'd have to spend all that time taking care of the pony...
*puts the pony back in the closet*
and no babbling time...
*drops straw*
*sigh* i never get what i want
ty ru I was worrying about what it would eat
me either Welki!
Helo there!
I want a fast porsche and a condo in SF welki if you can help me with that
so do you have the pup yet ru? I lost track of teh count down
hi kimm wb!

A million $ would be really nice right about now, I agree!
*puts a bow on ru's new 911 GT2
mmmm pie
Pie?

(i love cars)
VROOOOOOOOOOOOOmmm thanks welki
I love Pie.
*siren -- flashing lights* pull over buddy

i'd never be able to afford one of those, but am content with my (6th) saab, a 9/3 aero
*fresh baked sir?"
mmmmm pie
---which, coincidentally, is what jm drives, too!
Ok over half way. 100 left... time for ice cream...
I hate saabs
mine is ticket me red
really ru why?
hi all...
nah, you don't ... 210 hp, 6 speed turbo, goes like the dickens
mrs ru had one .. what a piece of junk.. we towed to to the dealer more than we drove it
hi pini!
hi jmc ;)
people who say they hate saabs are really folks who (1) have never driven one to its potential or (2) are closet saab lovers and jealous of us
really mine has been a dream
all the towing companies in the area sent us nice xmas cards
you had the anomoly ... i drove one past the 200,000 mile mark with no major repairs
the service manager at the Saab dealership committed himself to the loony bin trying to get the crappy thing to run
great pic of Little D, ru!! He's soooo cuuuuuute!
hmmm .. might have been more mileage than that, now that i think of it. if they were that bad, i surely would never have had 6 of them
so did you come up with a formal piggy name for dylan?
nope.. not yet
formal piggy name?
you were canvassing for dylan phrases way back when ... for his registered name. still?
yes.. I am stuck.. has to have pink or pig in the name
pink velvet
ugh. pink or pig.
??? my thoughts exactly
dylan of the pink velvet tongue
cute, jmc ;)
i worked on the pig angle the last time
has to be pink or pig, not hog or rose or whatever....
"pig circus" is from the song, hurricane
he is a really cute little guy.. nice head and really nice bone..
rose will work too
and pink floyd recorded knocking on heaven's door .... but to incorporate either into his name (oy vey)
hmmm
ooooh, so you could use rose or porker? or or or
baxter had to have "paws" in his name
porker?...come on..
Heaven's Rosey Pinky Pig, aka dylan.
i like that one lbd
"baxter" is what we call our workstudy students at work! :)
GAAAAh...
clever, lbd ;)
pink floyd pup
too bad he's not a she --- PIGmalion :)
saffron's commie pinko dylan lover
Heavenly Pinky Pig
uhh...
i like pinko....
other than rose, pink, and pig; what other "names" are you interested in including?
Pig Male Leon
pygmalion was the male sculptor not the statue
GAAAAAH
pinko commie pup
ok then .. pigmalion!
pig male d'leon
LOLOL
that's an improvement over GAAAAAH
what should I make for dinner?
which one brought a chuckle ru?

I went to Pita Pit on my way home from work...Mmmmmm, it was good!

pita pit?
we have a pita pit here. have never tried it.
Pita Pit...like Subway, but with a pita instead of bread and loads more guts!
menudo?
it's really good, lbd...gotta try it sometime
I'll have the Al Queda please...
you silly peeps!
what's your favorite, pini?
I made a delicious potato leek soup the other night
there was a recipe for roast duck in pear sauce...
have it cold and call it visysuous (lord i wish I could spell)
my choice of guts include: grilled chicken, light lettuce, extra tomato, red onions, pickles, mushrooms, black olive; sauces: tsatsiki (sp), honey mustard; feta cheese ;)
(offer Pini a breath mint)
and pepcid
mmmm sounds tasty
oh no jmc, i am getting over the cold not fun...
what can I say, don't have to worry about breath cuz there ain't no one here to kiss!
LOL
it is jmc!
hold the feta, and it all sounds good.
Ok I am officially proclaimimng the Holiday NCIS as AWESOME,. Much better than i expected.

i thought some of that video was positively hilarious .. sat at the table and laughed right out loud

I'm entering the next decade in a couple weeks.

congrats mix
my hair ... au naturel
i put some rinse on mine once or twice
but generally i am too lazy
me too .. and i kind of like the grey, it's coming in rather nicely
I let someone else do it. I tried a couple times, but....
my mother wasn't completely grey at 96 so i think i am alright
My grandmother didn't start turning grey in her 70's, but her sister went white very early.
i wear my hair very short, so it almost looks like it's been tipped
translation: too lazy to (1) colour and (2) spend time styling *lol*
other than color, mine's wash and go.
mine takes a time to brush
when i was young, i had long hair .. very thick, wouldn't dry overnight
mine is baby fine spring steel -- dr5 fast but doesn't do anything no matter what you do to ir
*it
I had long hair when young. I petioned for a year to get it cut.
petition
I had buster brown cut until jr high no matter what i wanted
pansier is a word :-(
i had a version of a 'vidal sassoon' .. hahaha, remember?
where is NB when I ne4 him?
I had two long braids. We could tell what year of elementary school by how long, until the elastics were out of the picture frame.
gretchen had the braids
was a dramatic change from having a braid long enough to sit on ... and after the sassoon, let it grow into a gypsy shag (boy am i old!)
in jr high she had short hair
6 left and stuck.
go mix go
i have 29 left, but have lost interest in the grid

quiet chog
it was quiet
how are you doing mcurl? I am doing my practicum next two quarters in an 8th grade language arts classroom. met the teacher today. very happy and excited about it.
mmmm. spritz cookies. no holiday is complete without them!
that sounds exciting stid
*hands stiddie some chamomile tea*
how's life for you and yours?
yes I agree, haven't had them in years. decided to indulge..
mmmm. thanks jmc! *sips tea gratefully*
my favorites as a child were spritz cookies and angelfood cake with pink fluffy frosting.
life is good right now. Son is coming home for the holidays. It will be the year that ALL the family will be home
believe it or not, I really believe the frosting doesn't taste as good in any other color! LOL
wonderful news mcurl!
as kids we made spritz and candy cane cookies with my grandma at christmas....a tradition
how exciting for you mc!
are you keeping the tradition alive?
at least our son is home (in the states) and not deployed this year.
grandma traditions are the BEST! my kids spend a good bit of time at stidgmere's for just that reason
I don't think mcurl is old enough for grands!
bless him for his dedication. please thank him from one vet to another.
started young!
I actually have two grandkids
I will do that lbdawger
wow. another one! LOL I didn't believe pinikula when she said she was a grandmother, either!
we are very proud of him. son in law is also military but they are stationed here in washington state close enough that I could see them daily.
bless him too. never know when he could be called up. scary.
It's rough to be family of military personnel at times like this. (((mcurl and family))) I was a brat, really respect the vets.
oops, timer going bbr
*sniffs air* I do believe I can find mcurl's house now, just from the lovely aroma...
okay, back to task. still working on the EALR thingy. 5 minutes or less...
lol, go for it, stiddy. grab some cookies for me!
man, can't believe how good those darn cookes smell. Dog is looking like I made them for him!
you didn't? LOL
in his dreams!
a tough life being a dog.
i am going to bed c u to morrow
hello again everyone. Has everybody finished thegrid already?
night night, JMC. sweet dreams
hi nef
nite jmc!
hi Nef and hi babblers - finished earlier, just stopping in to say hi
hi jbv
hi lbd. We just got home from a Christmas party, I still have 100 words to find here (been busy all day again. Dh is a real slave driver sometimes! ;-)
did you enjoy the party?
hi JBV how are you these days?
i'm very tired and mentally exhausted from a rather depressing chore
depressing chore?
it was a nice meal and good people. The hall was too cold for me tonight, however
i had to update my husband's medical history to prepare for a visit with a new doctor next week - it's 7 typed pages of ongoing complications
what's the matter with your hubby, JBV?
(((JBV)))
chronic illness is nasty
so I didn't get to do any Christmas-y things tonight - i need to do that a little each night to feel all right
too complicated for here, nef, but it involves colorectal and urology surgeries
oh, man! That sucks! My DH has MS; I was expecting something like that. (((JBV)))
last year we did not put up a tree cause he was in the hospital, so this year we are having a full-out Christmas - it's very comforting to keep up the traditions
it's important to have some "normalcy" around the holidays. it's good for both your spirits
it is comforting. And also very necessary for you to do
hi all. would love clues for the two 8s.
i am focusing on the joy of the season - a no-stress holiday - I even have extra time to shop, since I am not seeing my sister and brother's family until Jan. 2!!
put on the Christmas music, put on some russian tea (has OJ, cinnamon, and all sorts of fragrant stuff in it; bring on the traditions of the season and both of you enjoy it JBV!
the 8's are both fo - compound words
I have a tea called Bengal Spice (I think it's Celestial Seasonings) - very spicy and delicious
fo4.7 + a square has four of them and what a boat uses to catch the wind
ty jbv. would love more clues so i can get them.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
and then the best of all - I have the extended vacation coming up (work for a school district)
oh gee i got one. hmmm.
Sounds good, JBV (I'll have to look for that one next time I shop)
ty got both. ty very much.
hi Min!
and thanks, nef, and lbd, for letting me vent a little, breathing easier now
okie dokie, time to head for the pillows. JBV take care and sing lots of christmas songs!
Goodbye lbdawger! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
night night everyone. see you tomorrow.

bye lbd!
JBV, the chog is for relaxing with friends. I'm a firm believer in friendship dividing a persons' pain

put a video on for the kids, have them write letters to teachers, and remind them that if they disturb you there are plenty of chores you can assign!
what to wear is definitely going to be a challenge. My stuff is either "work in the garden" or "night at the theatre." Haven't a had a need for business clothes, so I don't have a lot.
