I'd be doing better if our son & his friends would quit running in & out of the house...
yeah... and it's time for me to be as6, so I wish you all a good evening.
nothing like a little distraction, hey rbud?
set up a small obstacle course rbd
nite freep
nite, freep - lol, ru, good idea!
goodnight Freep
g'night freep and thanks for the help
nite freep .. well done for finishing so quickly
constant teenage drama, sigh...
at least no cops involved this time...yet!
oh geez
lol,rbud, yet?
how old are your kids Rosebud?
apparently one of them & his drunk dad had a bit of a set-to, so he was hiding out here for a bit.
rbud -- lovely icon!
ty!
oh, boy,that would have been interesting...gives me the " i remembers "
our son is 18, and everything's a constant big deal to him - except anything that interests me
I know that one.
you shipping him out to college yet rbud?
I wish, he's not a bit interested. Wants to maybe do some vo-tech school. Mostly just wants to goof off, from what we can see.
* giggle* the big i am stage......don't worry rbud, they do grow out of it. it's really quite amazing to all late teens, how much their parents learn by the time the teen hits 21
I always said " Hire a teenager today .. while they know everything!"
lol!
rbud, my youngest took from 16 to 22 to finally decide his niche in life. now into his 2nd year apprenticeship motor mechanic and panel beater
we always have run a sort of temp. home for wayward kids here, they all come here to hide out. So if one's missing too long, here comes a cop asking about them.
dont panic rbud - mine 23yr old goofed off for two years then started a sport science degree and flew through 3 years and about to do honours and wants to go on to masters - sometimes I look at him and wonder who he is and what he did with my son
lololol
nite guys.. big day for me tomorrow..
glad to hear that, g'rose & ursh, gives me a bit of hope. Hubby's just about fed up with the boy, but I, of course, being Mom, still have dreams.
and my eldest took 4 years to work out that he needed to go back and finish school, now, he's high-ranking IT consultant for a big company here in oz-land
good luck all... git -r -done jilli
nite Ruru
nite, ru!
nite ruru, see you at the flip
big day for ruru? What?
26 left now and not seeing anything so bed calls.
nite, jilli
my advice, rbud, let him take on small, no-brainer jobs, like manual labor, whatever, he will work it out in the long run, meanwhile he could earn some money, and find out how far it DOESN'T go!
nite jilli
night all -- *poof*
Taking a break for a while BBL
later, lyn
not many jobs here, wish he'd try harder. he thinks he can make it big in some band or something, which I admit is an improvement over his other plan to make it big as a skateboarder, lol!
oh, dear, rbud. but even band members need financial back-up, a lot of our stars started working as waiters etc. just to pay the bills
yes, so true.
so, he works during the day doing whatever, at night practices singing/ instrumental, until his break comes
I fear he'll have trouble holding any sort of job, has the attention span of a gnat and no patience. he did work one summer for a roofing crew for a while, that went okay, except for the getting up early part.
does he by chance have ADHD ?
most likely, but it's more of a "just don't care" thing. he's gone to alternative schools for years, finally got his hig-school equivalency "diploma". Very smart, but no motivation for anything other than his car and guitar.
oops, *high-school
He has a definite problem with authority.
now that sounds very familiar.... my first and third to a T. hang in there hun, they do come good in the end. it's just frustrating for the parents.
my last ( third ) son also had ODD, oppositional defiant disorder, made for some veeery interesting fights in our home
Yep, I've heard that one applied to our son. We argue a lot, too.
* grin * what can i say, i'm here, email me, i'll answer. maybe i can give you some coping strategies
Right now he's ticking me off because he owns several coats/jackets, it's very cold out, and he "can't find" any of them. "Don't need one, I have a car!" *insert eye-roll here*
thanks!
lol, poor you!
bought him a new one a couple of weeks ago, he "lost" it the same night.
does that mean some peace and quiet for you? if so, let him go, as my dad used to say, he's big enough and ugly enough to take care of himself
he goes, but comes right back, comes and goes nonstop some nights. And car is pretty loud, can't miss him pulling in and out. Right now I think he's settling in for the night, though, pretty quiet upstairs, and his buddies are gone. Might be time for bed. :)
I think we ought to build him a little cottage on the back of the property!
not such a silly idea, would give him a feeling of independence, maybe
like a granny flat, only for the kid instead. of course he's a slob, but at least it would get it out of our house.
why not? if you can, do it, go ahead. what have you got to lose? except a major cause of angst and disharmony in your home.
you will still be there, within cooee, if he needs you.
we just added another lot to the property, Hubs wants to build a small storage building, with units for rent. (for a little extra income) the town doesn't have anything like it, might work. Maybe we can stick the kid in the back of it, like a caretaker, lol.
go for it!!!!
probably be some zoning problem, we'll see. We have a new mayor, he seems more agreeable than the last one. he came over and helped Hubs with some plumbing a couple of weeks ago, nice!
you're on your way then.
Small town life! :)
thanks for listening - and for the email offer - may very well take you up on it. (((hug)))
((( hugs back ))))))
getting on for after 7pm here. really should do something about dinner. keep your chin up, rbud.
have a good evening! and thanks again. I remain optimistic. :)
nite rbud, see you at the flip, dear one.

20 mins.
you'll manage
Just got a coffee and a snicker doodle. That should help.
oooo yes! yummy snickerdoodles
50 of the biscuits are witing on trays cooling.Faith supper tonight so they will go with the loaf ,hubby and I for a quiz night.

Morning Ata brrrrr such a thick frost last night/this morning.
It just did.But the smell here is mmmmmmm.
FM!!!
looko who else is here!
Hello macadam!
she's losing the race against the baking
No frost here FM.Just rain. How are you?
Very well thanks, so you are baking up a storm I see :)
Glad I don't have to go out today - actually can't even if I wanted - am waiting for the council to come and take away my old fridge and a couple of other bits.
everyone is being industrious today
That`s it for today.Time for me to go .I may be back to finish later.39 still to find.Seasons greetings to one and all.
either that of kidnapped by Peter Mandelson's secret police
and to you too macadam.
lovely to see you!
lol Ata, I am planning an industrious day, have a casserole to cook and more sorting out to do.
I'm trying to decide whether to go to Faversham or Whitstable to buy more Christmas cards
really I want to go into CAnterbury, but Canterbury is hell at this time of year
ye sI should imagine C'bury would be heaving unless you planned to get there for about 9.30.
8:30!
by 9:30 it's hell lol
you need to run into shops at 9am on the dot and then leave asap
True, I guess everywhere is going to be a madhouse where ever you decide to go.
I really really want to go to Ramsgate to go to Hobbycraft LOL
but that's ages away
and it's high tide, so no beach walks
Ooohh yes, I think I am now miles away from the nearest one although there is a great craft shop in the village.
we have a nice craft shop, it's just really expensive
Right well that is coffee break over and sudoku done, guess I had better be disciplined and get on. Maybe see you later ((())).
*hugs hugs*
Hello everyone. 25 degrees F here and a new layer of snow.
hi scrabs!
How are you, Ata? And Claire?
she's still grumpy :)
She is allowed to be grumpy.
certainly!
Does she feel better after the transfusion?
they've got her back on a vac / vax pump, can never remember what the things are called, for her main wound. and they are now trying to get enough blood from her to test to see if she's had to enough blood *rolls eyes*
They could poke her fingertip to test her hemoglobin.
they've got enough out for Hb, they are trying to get more to test something else. Can't remember what she said
Hello, hello!
Ferritin level, probably or maybe.
Hi Haz!
Cos Claire's not very good at retaining all the good things in a a transfusion. The last one they did had added zinc, and after 48 hours, she showed *no* increase in zinc levels and only a small increase in Hb.
Haz! La Glitterata!
An enigma, that Claire.
Hello Scrabbler and Ata!
yes ... her body always does very strange things
I wish the blood people would still let me give blood, it's obviously needed.
ditto!
But no, discarded on two counts -something about antibodies and also had a transfusion pre some date or other.
why won't they? Hello
Hi Lynxxx
I can't cos I have bipolar. Not because of the drugs associated with it, but apparently ppl with bipolar can't cope with the emotional trauma
Ridiculous, Ata!
I had a letter from them saying something about it no longer being suitable, not that I was ill or anything so I concluded that something had shown up. In addition I had a transfusion in 1984 pre-screening for something. NVCJD?
utterly ridiculous! ANd I told them so when they told me that!
8 more pints and I'd have got a silver badge.
awww :(
lol Haz
I used to donate blood, and specifically platelets, then was anemic due to gyn issues, had my 4 surgeries and haven't gone back to donate since.
I wanted that silver badge.
my dad's got the diamond-encrusted sparkly gold badge of brilliance, or whatever the highest thing is
We can give you a badge, Haz.
that's rubbing it in Ata, poor Haz
OK, Ata, make Haz a silvery, gliterata badge and mail it to her.
:D
Can I have emeralds on it? They're my birthstone.
sorry, that wasn't meant to be rubbing it in! just proud of step-father!
I'd be proud as well.
My poor daughters, what have they got to boast about? Mother couldn't even get her silver badge.
and the sewing didn't win any awards either
did you get a Blue Peter badge?
No Blue Peter badge, no sewing badge. I might as well give up hope of any self-esteem.
I suppose you've got a Blue Peter badge, Ata?
Brownies cooking badges?
No ... I haven't :(
I do have two certificates from the Police to say that I have no criminal record.
*trying to find a reason to give Haz a badge* LOL
woohooooo!
I did have art up in the Gallery in Take Hart though!
but, but, she was in demand for lectures on Festive Decorations....and her cakes were world renowned (well we know about them)
Is that how you became Chief of Police for Babble Land?
Thank you, lynxxx, and I've had write-ups in the local press. I'm cheering up.
hi everyone
The Chief of Police thing was because I used to enforce the rules. Plus I got to wear the sheriff's badge.
and shes holidayed with the Obamas
hi Andree
Hello, Andree!
You don't have to have any badges to be loved and esteemed, Haz. You are beloved here and my so many!
lol Haz
Hi Andree
That's right! Not that I'm one for name dropping or anything.
of course not
Thank you, Scrabbler. I'll make myself a 'Beloved babbler' badge and stick on pretend emeralds.
i had to get one of those certificates from the police 36 years ago when i adopted my daughter, now i have a letter saying if i lose 1 more point they will take away my drivers licence
Oh Andree! Are you a speedster or something?
Here comes the snowplow...grrrrrr...loud rumbling
should we call you Leadfoot Andree?
i can't wait for christmas day, i get 6 points back, that will definitly be my favourite present
These certificates are required if you look at a child for more than five minutes. Okay, exaggeration, but I help out at Riding for the Disabled (making the tea and coffee) and for that I have to be vetted.
not really but losing 6 points in one fell swoop 3 years ago has caused me some grief
Plus, I had to get a separate certificate because I help out in a school's business programme. Such a lot of bureaucracy.
pretty much, nowadays. you need police stickyfoots to drive kids to school
we have a double demerit system for public holidays
What did you lose your 6 points for, Andree?
Same here Haz although heard on the news the other day that it is turning off so many volunteers they are relaxing the rules a bit
Yes, they're relaxing the rules, although, to be honest, I think some people misinterpret the rules and go to the nth degree with them.
doing 70 in a 60 zone
There were some signs in schools that you could only enter if you had been criminal checked. That isn't in the rules, someone has just gone mad.
So you are a speedster, Andree. Have you learned your lesson? Have you been rehabilitated?
Wow - 6 points seems a lot (I'm suprised my husband hasn't lost his)
a lot, i was horrified, double demerits i thought was to slow down the hoons on the open road
My husband managed to get two speeding tickets in the one day (going to and from the same farm) but managed to persuade them that it was an emergency to get there. So they only found him guilty on one count.
anyhow it was christmas day 3 years ago so in a few days i will be able to hold up my head again, i may add my kids think its terribly funny
I wonder how many babblers have speeding fines?
I'm sure you're not the only one, Andree.
not me, somehow
Nor me. I got a parking fine once.
PHone...
i do lol
hello all - i'm watching the snow!
Yeah, I lost my licence for a month (120 in 100 km) if the kids weren't with me at the time I don't think they would have believed it. I am normally a very sedate(slow) driver
hi Pinny
I got a going through a red lights fine once, but that was 3 years ago now and they never bothered to take me to court about it, so it vanished
*raising hand* 3 speeding violations for me! Out here in the country, all on the same road. The speed limit changes 9 times in a 15 miles stretch, so if one is dazing off and does not slow down---> busted.
i went for 40 years without a fine and now i get letters about my bad record, ha ha everyone i know drives faster than i do
Hi Ed + Pini
I am far more careful now (about my dazing off too)
Just in the new car Andree? has it gone to your head
hi ed and pini
hi
Hello everyone :-)...i do not drive so i`m ok..lol
hi Edward & Zooz
pinny..no snow here yet..:-(
nor here :(
hello lyn an zooz
no lynxxx this is over 3 years, they have put up spe and forget to slow downed cameras on roads i travel every day and its easy to' daze off'
nor here
LOL, Lynxxx
yeah - 39 today
Hi Zooz
go on rub it in.
75 here today
hello, Scrabs
25 F here and moresnow
Where are you, Ed?
no snow here thats for sure, must have been close to 30c today
florida
Aaaah, which city, Ed?
St.Augustine
zooz - i'm in nw london and we've got quite heavy snow that's starting to settle. i'm SO excited
Do you ever try what you think is a phantom and find out it really is there? I just did that with ep4.
help with sa6/21 please and the 5/12 before it
good morning babble friends! interesting modern phantom of the day: paypal!
st augustine - the county seat of putnam county?
I have been to Amelia Island 3 times, most recently in April. My friend's family has a condo there--beautiful!
hi trif
Hi Trif! Day 1 is under your belt!
The last time you had snow in London the whole country came to a halt Pinny lol
i love it here
Sorry Andree, no idea yet.
yes indeedy, scrabbler - I am off today though.
Hello, trif
Pinny, sorry I called you Pini. I just realized. (Pinikula)
Are we going to get some in the Midlands ??? Hope so it will stop me going out spending lol
i don't defend london's ridiculous inability to deal with any kind of weather issues, but i spent last year living in the desert so haven't seen snow for a long time, hence the excitement :)
sa5.12 sa4.4 & a cons
it is supposed to snow in the midlands yes, although it is working its way south.
wish my midlands would stop going out....all those holiday treats! :)
Hello, Norma
We don't get much anywhere now.. so it is quite a treat to get snow of any kind lol
Kent never gets any snow!
we did get some (an inch) here last year..lol
Hello zoo and everyone else xx
Norma, we got 20 inches of snow last Thursday + Friday, and then more last night. Come on over!
Ata, i am sure Kent always gets snow..lol
Haha, Trif
i have to go out later and am debating between driving and walking, just for the sheer enjoyment of walking in the snow
Walk pinny..and just enjoy...you do not know when you will be able to do that again..lol
I would love that Scrabbler but I don't work anymore so the poor plebs would object.. where abouts are you ??
i agree!
sa5.12 sa4.5 & vowel, then latin plural
kent doesn't! we just get frost adn wind from hell
ugh, pinny - depends on how deep the snow is! the kids and I decided to go for a walk a couple of years ago when the snow was about mid-thigh deep. worst idea we ever had. it was exhausting! (tho for me, more than the kiddos, I must admit....)
hi Norma
thx lynxxx
oh no - it's JUST starting to settle on the ground
Hi lynxx
ugh snow
did you not get any last year Ata?
oh, well then - walk at will!
we had snow for about 3 minutes lol
I agree Andree, looks pretty, must be hell to live in
that sounds like here..hahahaha...everything came to a stand still..so stupid really
Norma, I am on New York State, south of Buffalo, southeast of Niagara Falls.
the "snow arc" is the same every year - the first time it snows, your heart thrills, and everyone is all "it's snowing! it's snowing!" By February you are referring to an eight inch fall as a "dusting", and by April the sight of snow is enough to make you put a gun in your head.
here one only goes to the snow for skiing
Oh Scrabbler how great is that... I would love to see New York and especially the Niagara Falls ... it must be worth the snow to live somewhere SOOOO nice;o)
LOL, Trif
hello babblers! and hi scrabs - and for all who don't know - buffalo is the COLDEST point on earth (or at least in NY) in winter!
scrabs, i'll never forget my two trips up in that region - one was a blizzard never thought we'd make it alive from the airport to the hotel,
Hello, Jbv
next was Niagara Falls in APRIL - couldn't ride the Maid of the Mist cause too much ice in the river!
hi JBV
hi jvb
Good morning
Hello, Merk
hi Merk
Hi Merk
oh, hey, guys and ga4, guess what is happening at my house on friday night?
a sleep over? are we invited?
better! give you a hint - just a couple of months ago, I couldn't have imagined it....
a sleep over - and we aren't invited?
you're getting burgled?
you have a date?
santa is coming?
see - told you it was a sleepover
no, no -- my dad's is having his 75th birthday party here!!!
JBV, actually Syracuse gets more snow than us!
oh, wonderful Trif! great news!
LYNXX!!!! I caught that one!
Fantastic...what a great recovery!
very ha5/20 for you
oh, good thing I've managed to avoid Syracuse - actually went to a conference there once but it was fall and beautiful
he wants to go out for chinese -- and we are all so chuffed he is still here we would go out for Irish food if he asked us...
wow, its great he is well enough for a party
mind you, he and his nutter of a wife will be sleeping over, so it is sort of a sleepover....
So what would be wrong with pig's trotters and cabbage?
that is good news trif, hope you & your pa4 have a great time
pe5/14 after the 6/27 please
lol haz - but seriously, when is that last time you heard someone say "man, I am dying for some Irish! Let's go out..."
now there is something to turn your stomach
I just finished snuggling with Miss Bea Bunny. I snuck up on her from behind and grabbed her. She is a bundle of soft, velvety fur and mush!
Trif, I am so ha5 for your fathre + family!
scrabbler, you have the nicest bunnies!
Point taken. But, honestly, we do have some good food.
i thought the irish only drank, never heard what the food might be
pe5.14 pe & tell your kids to go outside and ***y
pe5/14 - start off with some vigour, end with feminine French for 'the'
of course you do dear one! the sticky toffee pudding alone is worth the trip! no offense intended. I have indeed had some lovely food in ireland
TY, Lynxx
Andree, it's potatoes. Every meal.
We even have potato bread.
that IS true - my MIL used to go through 55 pounds of potatoes every 2 weeks - for 3 people
thx lynxx and haz
I know, Trif, don't worry.
! 55 pounds
What is the C word here?
We have fabulous beef and our dairy products are great.
c plus French summer, for ce4/5
brown bread ice cream was a surprise - sounds gross, but it is actually quite nice
ce4.5
And there's salmon and all sorts of fish. The potatoes are pretty good as well!
i would love to visit ireland and would be happy to sample the food part of the pleasure of visiting new places
((note that Haz mentioned potatoes twice, as she is required to by Irish law....))
All I know is that when we have American visitors, they drool over our puddings etc. And they say our potatoes are very tasty.
Now I am hungry with all this talk, better get some dinner. BBL
(I've taken up a new post with the Potato Marketing Board)
potatoes x 3 now....her bonus check arrives soon@!
sorry - x4!
bye lynxxx
TY for ce4
cheers, lynxxx!
andree, hugo looks so sweet in your icon! how is he doing?
really well trif, he will be 4 months old tomorrow and due for his immunisation, so we will be off to the vet after work
he is very, very, very cute!
Has he still got his puppy fuzz or is stronger hair coming in now?
he has brought great pleasure to my life
We knew he would.
oh, haz, btw - thanks again for the susan boyle vid! she is so great, isn't she? lovely to see her blossom....
as a part poodle its wool so quite a strong but soft feel to his coat
It is good, isn't it? She still looks like herself, but just more groomed, which is what she wanted.
have you all bought the cd she has put out, its so lovely
wait, you dog has wool? seriously?
I haven't bought the cd yet, Andree. There was a programme on here the other evening telling her story, part of it was her performing a duet with Elaine Paige, who she had admired for so long. It's on youtube. Do you want the link?
amazing what a good haicut can do, she looks fantastic and i hope she enjoys all the money she is making
indeed haz. I don't know why I am so captivated by her story, as so many are. I suppose it's something how she was just so ordinary, like me, and so many others, and all the time she was a star underneath. wouldn't we all love to find our talent, and be brave enough to try to show it, and have it so warmly received?
i would love it haz, the cd is divine it really is
or just to be affirmed as worthy, after so many years of being told she was ugly and worthless.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF1hIaH KANk
Well said, Trif. I root for underdogs.
it was so kind of you to share that link with me, haz, and I really, really appreciate it.
as I was telling Haz, I had the great pleasure of seeing Elaine Page sing with the Boston Pops years back - she is TINY
My neighbors just got a Chocolate Lab puppy, named Willow. 12 wks old and so darn cute! She just about gnawed some fingers off of me.
This is the tinyurl http://tinyurl.com/ydrp78y
You're welcome, Trif, I really enjoyed seeing her and knew that you had followed her progress.
willow is a great name! Secondo has a friend name willow, and, unfortunately, as is so often the case, she is HUGE and her name is just so .....I don't know, awkward? it always seem to go that way. Clumsy girls named "grace", stubborn boys named "will"
I have watched her debut so many times--gives me shivers + tears still.
Haha, Trif
oh crap -- i have to go to the pb - just noticed. ta, Elaine!
I think because she mentioned that she aspired to be like Elaine Paige, the producers of the programme made sure that they got them singing together.
well, I will have Haz to keep me company!
Entrapment!
yes, haz, and I think also because that girl in the audience at susan's audition rolled her eyes and everyone laughed when she said she wanted to be like EP - EAT it mockers!!!
LOL haz!
hmmm - enable takes the french for beach....fickle little mistress, that enable!
But hindsight is a wonderful thing. Simon Cowell admitted that he wasn't expecting what he heard and felt bad about how judgemental he had been. But you can still be sure that anybody appearing in a blue gorilla suit (as happened on X Factor) is going to be rubbish!
Clue, trif?
ummm - french for beach? let's see...
pl + c*** aux folles
sort of like the disease that wiped out europe in the 1500s, but leave out a vowel
i've been busy with the grid, but agree with everyone that susan boyle is an amazing singer and an inspiring story
simon cowell is on her bandwagon now he helped produce the cd so she will probably make him rich too, i will never forget his eye rolling
or, what jbv said - I am an evolving cluer...
yes, but then later in the audition all but little hearts were swirling around his head! (though pounds signs more likely....)
She'll make him richer. He's reckoned to be on the way to being a billionaire.
i've got kind of a "day off" today - have to go to an all-day meeting, which is a nice break from the routine, and it's a nice group of people - we meet about 4 times a year
Scrabbler, I watched her audition again after Haz so kindly sent me the EP video. It never, ever fails to cheer me up
that link is telling me the video is not available, i will try again later
wow, jbv - sounds a bit overwhelming, so glad you have a good attitue about it!
Sorry, Andree. If you go onto youtube and put in Susan Boyle and ELaine Paige, there's probably more than one available.
i'm on a state advisory board, Trif - not overwhelming, i'm very glad for the opportunity
good morning all
I could NOT believe how tired I was yesterday after just one whole day of work! and I wasn't even seeing clients - just paperwork and training!
Good morning, diem.
Hi Diem
morning diem! beautiful icon!
its bedtime for me, goodnight all and happy babbling
what kind of work, Trif? your first day? congratulations
Stressful changes in routine, trif.
Sleep well, Andree.
I am a clinician in a learning center, working with students of all ages with expressive and receptive language issues, mostly focused on reading
Goodnight, Andree.
sleep well andree - cuddle up with hugo for us!
I work 8-12, then teach the 3rd year med students in the Spirituality + Medicine course, then volunteer at the cancer hospital (pastoral care)--long day but nice line-up.
are you a reading specialist? speech/language?
yes to all
spirituality and medicine sounds FASCINATING! wish I could audit that course! I am sure you are a fantastic teacher too!
Well, if I sit here any longer, I'm going to get rooted to the seat. Time for me to get some chores done and to check if I've got enough potatoes in store.... Bye for now, enjoy your day!
we are fortunate to have jobs we can also enjoy, so many people either not working or not able to enjoy work
have ye 4/7, 4/7, and 5/16 - what am I missing please?
yl 4/7 - sounds like what flows inside a tree minus the x
yl4/7.
bye haz, and please, please, please, don't mind what I said about Irish food - I was just trying to think of something less popular for restaurant eating than Chinese, really!
*gone*
It is neat to teach the med students, to emphasize compassion, humanity as they learn to become physicians
this is a terrible thing to say, but the best way for a physician to learn compassion is to be truly ill at least once
Yes, suffering is a great teacher. being a patient is the best way to become a great doc
sorry, scrabbler, i do not mean to imply you need to infect your students with bubonic you know what :)
I would agree, jbv, but I am not sure they have to be really sick - they just need to be in the patient role, not the physician's
I need another ye4/7, I guess. I have the dog sound
same again, scrab, but change last cons
No, I do agree with you, JBV. My various diagnoses, surgeries, etc have made me a far better doc!
oh, scrabbler, btw - the school here FINALLY got the h1n1 vacs in, so tertiare got hers yesterday, and secondo get hers tomorrow.
Aha, that one, trif. TY
i only say that based on many years experience with many many doctors
Good! 5 kids died here in Oct + Nov, 2 back in June. Not much disease x 1 mo now.
I think the same about insurance agents for hmo's- let them have to call and get services approved, and THEN talk to me!
have to stop here - 57 more words for later, have a great day everyone
I fully agree, JBV!
yes, i would say the peak has passed, but I got them done anyway.
At 76/85 I must shower and get to the office. Enjoy the day everyone!
I did see that someone has started a petition here in the US to require the congress and senate to sign up for the new health care plan they are drafting - interesting idea!
bye scrabbler!
Trif, we are concerned about further waves of H1N1, so it is still important to be vaccinated.
Hey Babblers !
**sniffs armpits to see if I smell**
did I do something to someone ?
Hi, just back from eating
Hi Lynx.
Hi Aussie. Sorry, I was deep in the grid & having a sneezing fit.

Hi Flosey

hi there saanichcat
don't see much of you
Tx Flo
is your snow gone yet? I still have patches but it should be gone soon.
he
he
Hi Inge
Flosey I am such a slow typist That I don't chat all that much unless I have finished the grid
snow still around but too mild for it to stay I expect
ah, no prob
But I think of our luch last year often -- it was so much fun!
like hubby, it's painful to watch him, and he uses many abrevs. and never corrects errors
yes, it was great meeting so many babblers
hope we can do it again
my cat does not like the snow. She's a black manx named "Clio" (after the muse of History). It's hilarious to watch her! I had another cat who used to build tunnels in drifts and I thought often I'd lost her.
The sooner the better! Is Stid coming up in the near future?
our cat is staying in more these days, he's very much an outdoor cat though
I haven't heard anything about Stid coming up
aggh my coffee is freeezing...off for a refill....
Fireworks
Great Flosey!
ty hego, thought I was alone here again!
but think I'll try to get a little more sleep - 4:30 is far too early to be up!

There's a 4:30 in the morning?!!

SL5/16 -- indentured servant. "im a SL for you"
*whispers* vewy qwiet in hewe today...
good morning!
hi all
easy grid, no?
donno
anyone know why FB is not loading?
donno that either
oops, I need the second sp 5/16, last sl word.

sorry inge do you need the sp or the sl?
sl 5, second one
sl5/16 is indentured servant
I have that servant type, want the second one at end of Sl words
sorry i think i just gave you the first one
frozen snow
la 6?
BR! long time no see
this sl 5 is my last word, last one in the sl list
do you have the one that rhymes with the part of clothing that your arm fits in?
yes, third letter must be o
sl 6/16
sl 5/15
my monkeys are at double speed with no luck
sl5/16 -- description of what a fox is like (three letters) plus two letters of a small green round vegetable
help with la6 pls
yes, yes
ty haz!
You're welcome, jmc.
and what does that mean, hmmm? apart from being like black ice?
la 6 what disappears when you stand up + bichon is my *** dog
lol ata
ty, bichon
bichon is what?!?!?!
yvw peri
sl5/16? - the covered transept from a cathedral to a chapter house.
of course!
well that will come in handy in my interreligious travels!
a dog or a cat may be your ***, you also *** your dog or cat
Thank you Father, so I get to the conference room by going through the sl5/16?
One would be useful from the kitchen door to the garage door to save me getting wet.
and from Spangle's kennel to the kitchen door for her!
do you think cathedrals keep dogs?
I know! We keep her food in the garage so she always likes to accompany me out at teatime to make sure that I'm filling her bowl properly.
Cathedrals should keep dogs, they could be used as la6s to keep worshippers warm in winter.
had to make an emergency pitstop. Still tryoing to figure out Haz's clue for lo 5
so not only kennelled, but fed in the garage. poor poor spangle
sl5 - as *** as a fox, I like to eat **as along with my potatoes.
Canterbury Cathedral has a Cat
She's not fed in the garage, her food is kept out there. She gets to eat in the utility room, big concession.
the cat has the cathedral
I have a very spoiled dog. He eats next to us in the dining room and sleeps in our bed. It's part of the breed description
but what if it rains! her food might get wet on its travels!
inge, la6 do you mean? It looks like a combination of one circuit of a race track (three letters) plus dogs and cats are examples of a domestic ***.
That's why the sl5/16 would be handy.
ty bichon and haz I am so dense today!
However, we're only talking about five steps, so unless it's a deluge, we're fine. If it's a deluge, she waits.
lo 6 is a plant
Hello, all.
hi vic
Hello, Vicuna.
vi!!!
poor unloved Spangle. there must be some poor unlovedness in there somewhere!
;thanks Haz I got the word, and lost my post acknowledging it
No problem, inge.
<------------ does this look like an unloved dog?
absolutely
she's crying her little spaniel eyes out
Is Haz being cruel and heartless again?
Just because she doesn't have a purple collar.
and a purple lead
they match, you know!
Nor a purple lead, you're right.
I'm always cruel and heartless, Vi.
her collar is very practical though
Oh, right. Sorry to have underestimated your evilness, dear.
cats consider it cruel and heartless to HAVE a collar - and absolutely unacceptable to have a lead.
i have never been able to persuade a cat that a collar is a fashion statement they need
it all depends on your point of view.
Hello, hursh.
hello vi, ata, haz, jmc
Well, there you go. The fundamental difference between dogs and cats is their reaction to the prospect of a collar and lead, purple or otherwise.
Dog that lived next door had a pink collar with rhinestones, so I think that puts even the purple collar to shame.
Hello, hurshy!
was it a poodle?
oh, look! people chatting in the chog! oh yay!
please tell me it was a rottweilier
i hope the dog wasn't too embarassed
Hello EvaN!
No, small black fluffy thing. Name of CeCe.
my sister dresses her dogs up in COSTUMES for halloween. ugh.
shame
*imaging a snarling lunging snapping rottweiler in a a rhinestone collar*
Which reminds me of a friend who was in a shop and heard a lady saying 'Chancellor! Fifi!'
Nice dog, actually. Not much of a barker, which is the chief thing I look at in a neighboring dog.
She expected to see two poodles come to heel, but it was the woman's children.
hi all. would love clue for c word
there you go a dog named CeCe probably has no self respect in the first place
LOL
noooooooo
egal
c + french summer
no that is evil naming children that!
oops sorry. i am in pb.
Well, it's not CeCe otherwise jmc would be languishing in the PB.
ce + **a in the afternoon is nice
lol try to put me in the pb for CeCe Vic would have to go too!
ty. got it.
chancellor??! oh my
I know a dog called Fifi. She looks like Yoda
I know. Awful, isn't it?
all of my Bichons are baked goods
a dog that looks like yoda eeewwww
Is Fifi green?
can you imagine growing up and seeing Gordon Brown in your future
omg i hate to tear myself away to go to work!
naming your kids chancellor and fifi is basically saying, "i don't want you to be successful in life".
Take a day off, jmc. Live dangerously.
I'm trying to find a pic of Fifi so you can all laugh
naming them that is saying -- I want you to spend millions on shrinks
Actually, hursh, it's probably saying "We already have so much money that nothing else matters."
oh I can't haz -- we are gearing up for the office party inviting donors etc.
What a shame, jmc. Are you serving food?
well, if you have that much money, your children are probably NOT going to be successful at life anyway. they're going to fritter away their time partying and whatnot.
vic you may have a point -- all my MIL friends are called buffy and poopsie and such
Poor jmc. That's what you get for doing an important job.
yes all the staff is bringing something
We should probably google Chancellor and Fifi in case they have turned out to be philanthropists or something.
Such a shame I don't know what their surname was....
well i really have to go --- I will try and sneak back later at work
Quite right, hurshy, but since that's the way you [hypothetically] lived your life, you probably think it's the right and proper way for your kids to live theirs.
oo that would be work for me haz -- looking for big donors!
Bye, jmc! Sneak back any time!
bye all *poof*
well, it depends whether you are the generation that MADE the money, or not.
There is a Dr Fifi who is the vice chancellor of somewhere.
You're the generation that chose the names, though!
Do you suppose there's any connection?
refresh for the wonder that is Fifi
Aha, a chancellor and a Fifi all rolled into one!
i was expecting a chihuahua
That's a miniature Schnauzer!
fifi's face shape is wrong for yoda
nope, mini schnauzer
I was expecting a pug! lol
Sorry, Ata. We're vetoing the Yoda identification. =P
it's the ears that do it
I like miniature Schnauzers, I think they look like very merry little dogs. They're not spaniels, that's the only drawback.
True, they are good yoda ears.
Here's where I have to google Yoda to see what Fifi is aspiring to look like.
Wisdom for life: "We can't all be spaniels."
very merry and VERY YAPPY
she's kind of a cross between YOda and an eowk
Ewok!
As if I would know what an ewok looked like.
you can look them up too, Haz :)
Yoda's pretty ugly. You can't call a miniature Schnauzer ugly.
Fifi is utterly ugly. Especially when she poos everywhere
Ewoks don't have much going for them in the decorative department either.
good morning
Is there just one Yoda but many ewoks?
and yaps and bites your ankles
Good morning, harpjane.
yes, 1 Yoda, too many Ewoks
though there is another of the same species as Yoda. but only 1 more
And is Yoda a goody or a baddy?
every Star Wars fan is having a heart attack right now
Star Wars? Not Star Trek? It's so hard to keep track.
Yoda is Star Wars. He's the most goody good creature there is
Goody good but still likable? Or goody good and you want to kick him, as with Pollyanna and her awful optimism.
he is Leader of the Jedi Council and trains Luke Skywalker. *watches names fly happily over Haz's head*
goody good and *awesome*
Yoda is NOT ugly, and it's his name, whereas ewoks is a species. :P
I'll not be taking Star Wars as my Mastermind subject anytime soon.
so what species is he from, Hurshy?
And are there so many ewoks that they don't have individual names? No chance of Chancellor Ewok or Fifi Ewok?
they probably HAVE names, but i don't happen to know any of them.
No one knows.
It never says.
i don't know what species yoda is, i'm not as much of a SW expert as you are.
it does in the extended universe, but not the original
I call that a dereliction of duty on the part of whoever invented them. Poor nameless ewoks.
all i know is, when i saw yoda fighting count dooku, i ga4ed and said, so THAT's what a light saber duel is supposed to be like... wow...
And you think Spangle has it hard. She has a NAME!
I think Yoda ended up either being a Wie, or coming from Wie. Can't remember which!
A bunch of the ewoks do have names, but nobody cares, because... well, because nobody cares.
the Ewoks are too annoying to have names. Though I think 1 or 2 of them did?
Count Dooku - is he the one who invented sudoku?
we would care if we could adopt them, they're so cute.
Wickett!
dooku is Christopher Lee
what is all this ewok disparagement about??? i love ewoks. they are clever and brave and darling and funny.
Yeah, that's it, Ata.
ewoks are annoying
He'd look clever enough to have invented sudoku.
how can you find ewoks annoying? what did they do that you found annoying?
existed?
be more specific!
My objection to the ewoks is not to themselves, but to the way they are deliberately portrayed as cutesy and needing to be lifted down from logs and stuff, and THEN we're supposed to believe they could defeat the Imperial forces.
moved, breathed, sang, had weird tribal stuff, took over the coolest movie and turned it into a teddy bears picnic, had buggy eyes, chittered
So, never trust an ewok? If I come across one needing lifted down from a log, do I leave it there so that I don't unleash super powers?
i don't think they NEED to be lifted down from logs, i think leia just reacts to them that way because of how they look.
you kick it, they squeak quite well
Just convince it you're a god, in the way all natives are always so willing to believe of us civilized tyoes, and you'll be fine, Haz.
This is great, I'm getting so that I don't need to watch Star Wars at all, I know everything without the tedium.
but they do hold out their arms to be lifted down on occasions
besides, they helped defeat the imperial forces as a group, not individually.
Good morning, all.
it helps to have a jedi flying you about in the air when you want to convince ewoks of your divinity.
Hello, Judi!
and everyone breathed a sigh of relief adn the movie went back to being cool
Good gracious, now I need to look up Jedi in google images to see what I need to be looking for in the air.
well *i* like ewoks and i think the rest of you are just callous and cynical.
just watch the films, Haz ;)
You tell us, hursh!
Ewoks were adorable yet fierce creatures. What's not to love?
I like Tuskan raiders. they are quite cute and cuddly too
As I said, I think ewoks *could* have been done well... but they weren't.
So, jedi dress in monk's robes and wave neon things around?
see, look, even judi, who has a bah humbug icon, likes ewoks! how crotchety does that make ata???
yep
I haven't seen any recently in Ballymena, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out from now on.
LIam Neeson was a Jedi
Liam Neeson was a Jedi
lol, Ata. You beat me to it!
Was he?
they don't all dress in monks' robes, nor all the time.
:D
and sir alec guinness
and ewan macgregor
though they were the same one.
he was indeed. qui-gon jinn
Yes, but Liam Neeson might actually be sighted in Ballymena. The others, not so likely.
So, you have to be non-American to play the role?
What about Yoda? He was cute. And he was the baddest Jedi of all.
who invented life after death
samuel l. jackson was also a jedi, so, no, you can be american.
there were a few americans
There is always the chance that I might see Liam Neeson in Ballymena, you're right. The others are less likely.
That's actually where the conversation started, Judi. And so we come full circle...
Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, etc., etc.
He'll be easy to spot if he's wearing those robes, although there's a Cistercian monastery nearby.
now you know you can go up to him and ask him about his light sabre
carrie and harrison weren't jedi!!!
And if you say "Wanna show me your light sabre, baby?" he'll think it's a really cheezy pick-up line.
carrie *could* have been
maybe luke started training her after ep 6.
I know, but they were Americans.
I'd be terribly out of my depth if I started asking him about his Star Wars experiences, I'd be exposed as a fraud.
but han solo would never ever ever be a jedi.
she was trained, I think. At least her kids were, certainly
Nah, After all hokey religions are no match for a blaster.
Is Han Solo the son of Napoleon Solo from the Man from Uncle?
he could be, if you could inject midichlorians into someone and keep them alive! aha!
Han Solo had a nice wookie (wink wink).
No, but after he married Leia they changed their last name to Duet.
*groan*
Duet? I'm going to have to start a new card file system for all these names.
(I was lying about that one, Haz.)
i think the midichlorians would die from testosterone overdose if you injected them into han solo.
See how naive I am? I thought you were serious.
they managed to survive the whininess overdose in Anakin
Are you saying jedi have low testosterone? I'm telling Samuel L. Jackson.
Is Anakin a place or a person?
well, they're not allergic to whininess.
i'm saying jedi have everything in moderation.
until they don't
anakin skywalker is a person, father of luke skywalker. he becomes darth vader, but luke turns him back to good in the end.
well it's not MY fault george lucas can't be consistent.
I've heard of Darth Vader, big mask man?
And now you know the entire sa4/6, Haz.
yes.
Maybe I can take it as my Mastermind subject after all.
This all started with Ata trying to convince us that a dog called Fifi looked like Yoda.
And now I'm an expert in Star Wars. Now, about Star Trek....
A dog who wasn't even green.
<- refresh for ANakin :)
not that I have many many Hayden Christensen icons, honest
I know. Talk about a fleeting resemblance.
Hi everyone....I hope we are all well andhappy??
Hello, Flask, I'm fine and dandy.
Hello, Flask, I'm spiffy and swell.
Hi Flask, I'm lurking and learning about Star Wars (-:
Oh good......am laughing Haz, when someone asks me that, I usually reply with...."Oh, am grand and dandy"!...lol
Hello, Aloy!
"fat and sassy" is my comeback to that question.
nice one too, jmitch...
(-: Hi Haz, jmitch.. are you related to Fmitch?
It's always better to sound positive, isn't it? My aunt named her two sisters 'Doom and Gloom' because they were unable to summon any cheer.
sounds very Gormenghastian
hope you are NOT serious, Haz..
lolol......good one...
Absolutely serious, Aloy. My mother was visiting her one day when said two sisters walked up to the front door. 'Oh, here comes Doom and Gloom', said the aunt.
ooh.. did the sisters become more cheerful after they left home?
vole
This was when they were well into their sixties/seventies. They just saw the gloomy side of every situation, whereas my aunt (married to my mother's brother) was more like us in being prepared to see the funny side.
shrew
naked mole rat
oh dear, see wot I just dun!!!!!....lmao...
ah so, I was worried that they were children, and so.. being called "doom and gloom" could affect them.
Sorry folks!
chinchilla
Well, I hate to be doomy and gloomy, but I must go work on writing for a bit. Bye for now, all.
good morning...clue for the lone e on the bottom row, for nbt, plz?
bye Vic
No, I should have made it clear, it was just a nickname.
lol...
ep4 - fencing thing
tapir
Bye for now, Vi.
capybara!
oi! thanksz Haz
No problem lb.
i am back and ready to educate haz about star trek.
bye, Vicuna
unicorn (I'm out).
Oh dear. I'm just about to head out with Spangle. Can we postpone it for another time, hurshy?
.. armadillo
Not a rodent. I'm back in. Field mouse.
here's the chief differences you need to remember, haz: 1) star wars is a LONG TIME AGO in a galaxy FAR FAR AWAY, while star trek is in the FUTURE in OUR galaxy 2) star wars pits a SMALL band of good rebels against a large evil empire, whereas star trek is about a cold war balance of power scenario. (this only applies to the original 3 SW movies and original series of trek).
I know a bit more about Star Trek than Star Wars, so your work won't be quite so strenuous.
... packrat
coypu
rat fink
It still sounds very complicated, though.
.. chipmunk
squirrel
gopher
that's only TWO things to remember, to distinguish the two things. that's not much.
star-nosed mole
.. groundhog
So, Star wars - in the past. Star Trek, in the future.
beaver
Kirk shags everyone. No-one else is allowed to
And a few good against a lot of bad. (Star Wars) Lots of jostling for position (Star Trek)
dormouse
prairie dog
there you go, haz, you're doing so well.
muskrat
why are we naming small furry animals?
Mickey Mouse
rodents, hurshy :)
find the common denominator, hurshy!
Can I get a badge once I've proved that I know things?
water vo4
Mighty Mouse
if you're very good
sure, you can have a badge
yes but WHY are we naming rodents?
Mammmals, mammals... their names are called, they raise a paw...
think you get a phaser haz
for the fun of it, hurshy
I was telling some babblers this morning that I never got a silver badge for giving blood. They stopped taking it from me.
i'm throwing small toy field mice for my cat to fetch
too bad, that, haz
two hours, dc? that's endurance!
someone typed vo4 in the grid, and it took off from there
The blood, I mean. They stopped taking it and wouldn't give me a badge. I still feel aggrieved.
i must say, if you get a sunburn, your skin becomes pe4y. that should totally be a word.
17 pints and no badge.
she's nothing if not demanding, ata, if apparently well-cared for
well, you certainly deserve a blood badge, Haz! You were robbed!
not even a bronze one?
agreed, hurshy
well if you have to pay taxes soon haz it is almost the same thing
I can relate, Haz. They stopped taking my blood years ago. Once you faint, they want nothing to do with you ever again.
monster cat :)
there's only one ps, right?
Nothing. Oh, little certificates you stick in a wee book. You can't wear a wee book.
in america we don't get badges at all, i don't think. only stickers.
nooooo
i believe so, hursh
I never fainted. I was the perfect blood giver until they realised that I had had a transfusion years ago. Blessed rules.
We get a silver badge for 25 pints, gold for 50 and diamond encrusted ones if you're Ata's step=father.
And nothing if you're a blood donor reject like me.
Can we get the sad music going?
awwww *violins*
*violins*
I'll tiptoe out to an accompaniment of strings. I thank you.
*adds a cello for balance*
sl4py is ALSO a word for SURE, grrrrr
a harp would be nice too
have a good walk with Spangle, Haz!
Oboe.
agreed hursh. Aloy, sadly jane isn't around
Bye for now! (You can all start typing in stringed instruments)
be well, haz
ttfn hazzmatazz
Guitar! Well I do have one to hand.
Toodle-oo!
. banjo
hello, NB
Hey Nancy Boy. How did the final dinner with your father go?
hi Nancy Boy
Hi Seain, Bugs, Aloy, everyone :)
Dinner went alright thanks Bugs (quiet!) but actually leaving the next day was a different story. Didn't go well at all. Sure all babblers are sick to death of the story though ;)
So are you enjoying living on your own?
Sitar.
Oh not alone Bugs! The reason behind the whole messy argument was that I was moving in with my boyfriend. And yes, I love it :)
Sitar.
I meant without family. I am glad you are happy. I am off to work. Happy Babbling everyone
.. mandolin
balalaika
bye for now Bugsaw
be well, bugs
bye, Bugs :)
- dulcimer
NB, sorry that that's been difficult.
mn,mn
mn,mn
Viola ( and dammit, Aloy! I was gonna use dulcimer!)
orange
a damsel with a dulcimer in a vision once I saw ...
lol, sorry Judi
Thanks, Seain :) it's a bit heartless, actually, but I'm beginning to get used to it. Though childishly, I really wanna speak to my mummy :)
there's always a a hammer dulcimer, judi
NB, that will never go away, and it's not childish!
I agree with Ata, NB
I'm still weirded out that my partner is close with his family, and that both our families live nearby. It adds its own special stress
agree with ata
oooh, found the Turkish root used for ice cream. We've been trying for years to get some here.
aren't families wonderful ;) We have the stress of overly conservative in-laws and a lesbian niece who has to "hide" it from them.....although her partner always comes to the house....joy of the season!
I saw my mum the other day for the first time since getting all this flu stuff, and nearly *flung* myself at her with relief at seeing her!
reluctantly must go.. Happy Babbling, all.. poof!
quite so, science
I can imagine, Seain...horrible and weird as moving out was, I feel like I have breathing space now. And it's just so great to be in the kitchen making a cup of tea and see Leo wandering around (he wasn't allowed in my house)
Interesting, dc. What is the root called?
be well, aloy
Sounds like a strained christmas, Science...:/
always. I take novels with me! LOL
The niece and I and her partner shall go and see the new Sherlock Holmes movie
and, perhaps, Avatar as well. It keeps us under the radar
oh, fun, science :)
the 1st of our new streetcars have arrived in Baltimore and cleared customs :)
should be ! the inlaws mean well, they are just way too religious and conservative.
Sciencegeek... don't you mean...gaydar? (Sorry, couldn't help myself).
tis a Southern Baptist thang
booked tickets already to see Avatar in 3D in the big London IMAX cinema
lol judi they don't even register it
Niece + partner must be so grateful to have you there, Science! I could do with a cool aunt or two about now :)
Yes ATA! We have a 3D IMAX in Houston and I really want to go this weekend!
it'll be *awesome*!
oooh, and DDOT is engraving cross streets in the granite curbs, starting along H St NE. How cool!
I've got to confess I have a mild fear of 3D films. I'm the person who ends up flinching back and wincing...
*slides snog-first into NB when hustling into chog*
but IMAX is such fun!
oh me too Nancy Boy! It is a thrill tho
We MUST stop meeting this way Eva :D
welcome, EvaN
Don't feel bad, Nancy Boy. My husband actually gets nauseous at 3D films. lol. "More popcorn, honey?"
I do too, Judi
I end up shutting my eyes when things are swooping around
i've never seen one...
*bottom lip quivering* must we??
They move so fast and so close. When I was younger, I used to slide the glasses down my nose so I was watching normally but everyone would think I was watching in 3D. What a poser!
*swoops Eva up in sudden-magicked-into-being huge muscly arms* never, my darling!
aww, you sure know how to make an old gal feel wanted. ;)
says Mrs-Can't-Stop-Showing-Off-Her-Sparkl y-Engagement-Ring
oh, i could. but its just so sparkly!! ~:D
mine is, too. It has special sparkly-cut diamonds in for added sparkle!
is that official terminology? sparkly-cut diamonds? ;)
absolutely!
BRB all. dont you kids go anywhere!
can I go and make a cup of tea?
*blinded* :D
what is it about S words that makes them so hard to find???
ok changed my icon to match my mood!
and im back! this time i really was quick like a bunny. :)
I hate S words too
i have 10 s's left
apart from Silverclaw
lol
and Striped
NB, i wanna see a picture of this Leo. i wanna see who we are dealing with here. ;)
i wish folks would stop bringing all this fattening stuff to the office
good point Eva
and Stollen
I will have to catch him unawares Eva - he is amazingly camera shy, for no good reason
I had a piece of chocolate for breakfast. I should eat some real food, but feel indecisive. Hmmm, maybe grits.
working on candied pecans
i spent my whole weekend working on cake balls. if i never see cake or chocolate again.... ok, i DO wanna see them again someday. just not soon!
cake balls are awesome! I had some at the Dickens Faire yummmm
cake balls!?!
NB, most i know like that are very insecure about the physical appearance
cake on a stick Nancy Boy - Italian Cream Cake
i've never encountered a cake ball either, but they sound nummy.
cake balls= bake cake + break into crumbs. mix with icing. roll into small balls + chill. melt chocolate. cover balls with chocolate + chill again. VOILA, cake balls!
mine arent on a stick, but you can do them that way too.
put them on a stick
I have tried taking pictures of him before, Seain, but it usually ends up in a tickling match and a thousand pictures of the floor/ceiling/my arm/big blurs that don't belong to anything
i did 4 kinds: (1) red velvet with cream cheese frosting + white chocolate (2) spice cake with cream cheese frosting + white chocolate (3) triple chocolate (4) my personal favorite -- strawberry cake with strawberry frosting covered in milk chocolate
yum Eva! Post your recipes!
no real recipe to it. box cake, packaged frosting. one cake to one frosting ratio. then it takes 3-4 regular-sized bags of chocolate chips per cake.
Mmmmm, triple chocolate for me Eva...
54 left and need the list
Oh, God. Don't even talk about Christmas baking. My husband was giving me cow eyes the other night. Asking me if I was going to bake his favorite cookies. I feigned being asleep.
LOL Judi!
WHAT???? empath not found in the dictionary?!?!?!?!!!
i mean what do they think deanna troi is, then?
Dang. I keep getting connection errors. My internet is crap today.
hi.. hows everyone today??
What should I cook for dinner this evening? People with recipes?
outraged by enable.
Whatcha got in the fridge, NancyBoy?
constraints, NB? vegetarian? number of people? etc?
allergies? dislikes?
last night i did honey mustard pork loin with green beans + rice.
About five of us coming round...no vegetarians or allergies that I know of. World's the oyster :D
how many words today?
and Judi, nothing at all :D
161 Ashley :)
thank you
well, everybody likes a good lasagne
nice pot of parmesan cheese grits, with roasted garlic salsa on the side. Help yourself!
do you want homey, comfort food or fancier?
this is a point. And it's food for people like me, eg, broke most of the time, so there's gotta be looooads of it
hurshy, you're not babbling if you're not outraged at enable
well if there's got to be loooooads on a small budget, then make 2 pounds of spaghetti and a pound of meatballs and salad and garlic bread.
i suppose you're right dc... sigh...
Hursh, you can't be Korean and cook anything involving spaghetti - people call them noodles and ask to you to "say the name slowly" ;)
ok, so call them noodles :)
kimchee pancakes with some port, proceeded by beef dumplings and miso
bul go gi. easy to make + it looks impressive!
(and thinking of it has made me very, very hungry!)
pork, not port
i love bul go gi.
kimchi, blech.
Mmmm Seain, that sounds really good...
not very expensive, and easy to prepare, too
sounds yummy dc
someone said pork...
huh. a George Foreman Grill has appeared.
not bacon crossy
Actually, thinking about it, I may play up to expectation and dig out the korean cookbook. Foreign food always seems more impressive, and I want to be a bit impressive. Cooking for people I've never met before...!
bacon is pork
we used to go to this Korean restaurant in Crystal City every year for my brothers birthday. it was some of the yummiest food ever! we finally stopped a few years ago because they have 3 kids + it was just too much of a handful!
NB, in college, my roomies and i hosted a dinner party every other week. Each time, we cooked a cuisine we knew nothing about. :) Great way to experiment.
Seain, that sounds so much fun :D I'm quite an enthusiastic cook, probably because I was vegan for about two years and now am making up for it. BIG time.
quick grits just ain't the same as real grits. Sigh. Not bad, though.
i like quick grits just fine
hi all
lunch at the world saving factory
I've got to admit, Eva, I always eat so well in Korea. I'm addicted!
for Chinese, i recommend Breath of a Wok by Grace Young. Well written, instructive, and has great photos. Only one of my cookbooks i've read cover-to-cover
oh, they're okay, jmc. Hello :)
Ah, so you don't work for Omnipave, JMC
lol dc
come over tomorrow afternoon and party with us dc
i love kim chi
i was heart broken when the korean deli across the street closed due to the recession
oh, bummer. There are a couple of 24h korean places in annandale.
oooh, tempting that, JMC

cat on wrists make for hard to type
thx yall
teach the cat to type then
i've worked to teach her not to walk on the computer. So laying on wrists meets that requirement
ahh they snuck a ps in here:)
the ps is easy crossy - think bible
Oh, cats make plans. Mine used to have a special chair. If you sat in her chair, she would go over to the door and start scratching and nagging to go out - you'd get up to open the door and she'd steal the chair!
though it's a common one
yup,i have it science, was jusy sort of passing it along
cause there are not many ps words anyways
psych -otic -otropic -analytic -iatrist....
so i am working under the assumption that the W is Wy but what are the stats?
psst is my favorite one
ok dc,your point is taken;)
pshaw is one of mine :)
JMC, will that be in the community room at the back entrance ?
WY4/10
nope come to the front door
noah wy4, longtime ER cast member
oh, wow. I've never used the front door there.
wy sounds like the cyote that chases the road runner
my cat is't allowed on laptop, so she walks along the very thin line at the top of my keyboard where there's only speakers and nothing to break.
she thinks that's acceptable
all that Koren food talk has me starving (and wishing we still went out for my brothers bday!)
she stands on my lap and obscures the whole screen already.
ditto SIly :)
i'm happy, food-wise - we ordered lunch from a deli today for a meeting and they make a delicious chicken salad with bits of apple and walnut in it, on this super duper multi grain bread
ty all had to take call from a foundation that gave me $$ last year
mmm yum!
same, Eva! hangover has sort of faded out during the day so fiiiinally hungry
yes for $$$ jmc
NB is hung over? I am shocked, shocked I tell you!
LOL Jmc. Well, it was my initiation so Soho...
*grins* Soho is such a great place to live!
*passes hat around chog*
Soho London or Soho NYC?
where did you go, NB?
ata is your icon in honor of ru's pup?
london dc
um ... which pic are you seeing?!
i thought it was washington dc
*giggle*
rage rage against the dieing of the light
hursh you are silly! ;-)
what's that got to do with ru's pup?? *confused*
indeed, silly is my #1 adjective.
i am bad with poetry but the pups name is dylan
*relieved pup is not dying*
ohhhhhhh :)
so i am guessing it is not a tribute to the pup then
no LOL :) we were teaching Haz about Star Wars earlier!
i like Trek better than Wars
haz didn't even know who yoda was... sigh
la6/24 please
how does that relate to star wars?
that was quite disturbing
I did get a peek at the reputedly yoda dog
that's anakin in the pic
oh I C
that's my darling ANakin
ok kids, gonna go forage up some lunch. NB -- are you sticking around for a while?
la6= what you lose when you stand up + cats and dogs and bunnies are some the ***s in babbleland
Until company gets here, Eva :) must pick suitable clothing though. Erk!

i gotta go do some actual work some silly soldier in Iraq wants help

Just starting today. I'm doing errands and shopping with Stidgrandson later today.
*gives eva a bunny crutch*
yw tij and *poof*
sounds lovely, stidgmere, and greetings
Is a pogo stick a bunny crutch?
hehe
Greeting dc. Notice my new picture? it only took jmc and stidmama together to pull the new picture to the chat.
jmc are you still there?
yes, saw it yesterday. Lovely photo. And the buche made me hungry
Someday I'll bother with the picture of the day but right now just happy to say good bye to dear Arthur the aardvark.
well done stidgmere!
end of run, or outgrown?
That is a pineapple filled jelly roll type of buche. Last year we made an actual buche de Noel using Julia Child's recipe. The meringue mushrooms were my favorite.
me6/27 please
i *** your mother when she was *** 16
extend the me4 with how old you are
meringue mushrooms area joy, i agree.
thank you all
mm time to renew our health cards..crossy does his happy canadian happy dance;)
i remember under the old systen it used to cost me $245.00 a month for the family, now its free and they tax the crap out of everything else instead;0
you need to renew healthcards? Is this how they know who died in the last period of time?
*giggles*
nope dc,as executor of the estate you spend half your life on the phone with the govt and the copy of the death certificate
cause the cc card company keeps billing the dead person and every utility you can think of
they tried to collect taxes off my mum for 3 years after she passed
and their dog too, probably
last pe5?
its annoying, last notice said they wanted to take her to court,i got on the bloody phone and ripped a strip off the manager for that area
pe + not singular some?
not... singular... some...
how tedious, crossy
or + a near east freedom fighting organisation
reminds me,my da has been in a home for 2 months and the cable and phone keep billing him..brb
erm, that ends with an O, but, i got it. thanks :)
or an A :)
ty, ata
I think, anyway!
UPS at the door with a new braided rug for the front door area. Much brighter than our older one. Well, off for the day poof!
they only ever say it with an O in the states, but since it's a translation i'm imagining "organization" or "association" would both be valid.
crossy hates being on hold.........
I thought it was "army". and "organisation" being different people. but I'm probably wrong!
njoy, stidgmere
hmm... i will have to look up things now
Good evening all............
let me know!
hi Cait :)
yes, the A is for army and was created as the military wing of the O but has never really been under the O's control
ah ok!
PLA soldiers later became the core of the Palestinian Authority's (PNA) National Guard, after the signing of the 1993 Oslo Accords, when they were allowed to enter the Palestinian Territories to take up positions in the PNA security services. The Syrian PLA remains in operation, closely coordinated with the Syrian-controlled as-Sa'iqa faction of the PLO, although the importance of both has diminished. The PLA has been rebuilt and Palestinian refugees in Syria are still drafted to perform their military service in its ranks. Though completely staffed by Palestinians, it remains outside of the PLO's control, and is in effect integrated into the Syrian Army. Nevertheless, it poses as an independent entity, and occasionally organizes pro-government rallies celebrating Syrian commitment to the Palestinian cause.
can any1 help me with ta/6 pleae
they sure do like to make things complicated over there.
do you want *** water or bottled? + buff*** roam the western plains
it's so complicated. so there is a PLA and a PLO. I thought there was, but as soon as you said PLO I wondred whether I was just imagining things!
what about the house elf liberation front... what name did hermione eventually settle on, anyway?
I need a liberated house elf....
I need any sort of house elf
I need one to do my Christmas wrapping; I've written an ode on my blog called The Gift-Wrap Rap
Society for the Protection of Elvish Welfare or some such. S.P.E.W.
Heya, fellow Babblers!
If you find a group of them can someone send me 2 please
i thought that was the first one, and then since everyone made fun of SPEW, she changed it
howdy hydra and beach
LOL seain and hi beach
oh, good point, hurshy, i don't recall then :)
i'm going to go wrangle some more food. bbs
Hi hydra
Hi caitlyn, dc, hurshy, ata, beach
I need an elf for everything...
hello all
hello lindy
Hi aslindy
I'm back.
hi merk
hydra - which site do you have the "wrap" song on?
www.toldyouiwasill.blogspot.com
have i even mentioned that phone comapnys can be ass*****?
so apparently DHL shipping was offering free shipping up to 2 kg anywhere in the world from copenhagen as part of its affiliation with the climate talks. is it just me or is that totally bizarre? i mean, isn't getting people to RECOGNIZE the COST of emissions kind of a huge thing? and wouldn't making it FREE have the OPPOSITE effect?
back.
You don't need to tell us, cross
well, duh, crossy
lol hurshy good point
not to mention the limo thing... sigh.
feel like going cell phne only and telling the phone company to take its like and stick it where the where the sun does not shine..grr
that is baffling, hurshy
line
i've been cell-only for 8 years now
indeed dc,there are many options now.they have to get that god complex off thier heads
there's some thing offering a home line in the US at least for $20/year... i've been cell-only for a few years but i miss my pretty old phones and at that price might be tempted into having a landline again
we have competition in landline service, do you there?
ahh the magic jack thing?
no dc,the basic local land line is still bell, but others "rent" the line to offer long distance
yes, magic jack, heard anything about it?
i could use skype even..
only vague things hurshy,i need to research it more
i have a great 70's phone like the brady bunch - real bell for the ringer, and when you want to hang up on somebody you can really slam it down. i miss that.
go to cable internet, use skype and go tell bell to pound sand;))
ahh i had a old boy style black roatary phone..thing weighed 20 pounds and could be used as a door stop;)
LOL hurshy I miss that too
that's why if magic jack is for real... i kinda want to do it!
hmph. city people with cell-only. hmph. *disapproving mama look* what will you do if the cell service goes out?
google reviews on it hurshy
hi stid!
Hi stid!!!
*serves choclit pecan pie and tea anyway*
thats my problem up here,we have many dead area which the cell towers do not reach
we have a land line and our cells...when Ike came only the cell worked....
land line at home, cell service starts about 2 miles away, so cell phone for when I leave home. service is intermittent between home and the school I will do my practicum, in next two quarters...
thank you, stid :)
lol,go back to single side band ham radio lol we used to do that at the cottages
stidkid#2 made THREE choclit pecan pies yesterday! I can't eat any of them because they have a wheat crust. But they sure do smell yummy!
trust cross to like HAM radio!
took me forever to remember not to say "over" into the telephine hehe
how's the grid today?
medium
medium. not bad then. *makes up mind* okay, I will go re-work a grading rubric and then be back to play for a while before I go teach. back soon. *poof*
i like it rough stid;))ham radio, wood stove, kerosine lamps, hand pump in da kitchen, but we had a inside toilet..as long as you dont mind peeong ice off the bowl first thing in the morning;)))

I don't think I want to look ....
Hello, Ata
thx for your help!
it is an xray Ata, nothing gory..although still not nice what happened to the boy.
okay, taking a few minutes to play before I get ready to head out. I feel more nervous about teaching this one lesson to a new class than I felt about the entire 2-week unit last year!
why's that, stid?
you must be talking about that brazilian 3 year old, poor child
Oh yes how did it go yesterday Stid..you were nervous then?
quite so, stid
Yes stid...sick indeed it is.
yesterday's meeting with my practicum mentor went very well. she is nice, likes the students and new enough to remember what it is like to be at my point in the process of becoming a teacher.
we will have a good few months together. met one of her students, too. nice child.
8th graders can be challenging, but I am assured they are wondeful to work with!
I can do xrays!
That is good news, i am pleased for you Stid, sounds like it is going to turn out great for you.
sounds like it'll go well for you, stid
I hate writing christmas cards, worst part is licking the envelopes afterwards..YUCK.
with your eyes, ata?
LOL, dcseain
thanks zoom I think it will. Today I am a guest teacher for my 6th grade teacher-friend, another creative writing project that I spontaneously pulled out of the air...
that's what sponges are for, zooz
oh yes. special ability :)
do like I do, zoom. don't do cards... LOL
But the looks i get if i do not give any out...plus i feel guilty when they give me a card, and i do not return the compliment..lol
I know, peer pressure. works even on us old fogies! LOL
lol
LOL ata
I used to wish that when i was a young lad...lol...how sad is that.
is the C fishy?
babblet
I would like any special ability. and some days, ability at all -- special or no!
thanks seain *thinking*

lol yes, I did
I know far too much about Tethys
oh the kids were really sweet, gave them some candy & 50p each...i think they were pleased.
and there are sometimes HUGE freshwater lakes that persist for thousands of years and then disappear again because of the wobble of the earth (apparently)
I figured you did! *grin*

Hello, vicuna
how's the crazy season going for you?
thanks
hi, vi
how's Tom doing these days seain?
Not too bad. A lot going on, of course, and plenty of people in the house, but it's all good. How are you holding up?
well, I volunteered to teach a 6th grade creative writing lesson today, have to go soon for that, it's the elder kid's 17th bday... and I feel old. Other than that, I have a break from my classes and so am resting a lot!
just checked your pic stid, your not old.easy on the eyes actually:0
Oh, 6th grade creative writing should be super fun! Happy birthday, elder kid. Older and wiser, I hope.
thanks Vi -- older I am sure he is... wiser? *shrug* we are having some grades trickling in... *mama look*
I can say I feel the wisdom growing by the year, myself, but I keep hoping!
I mean I CAN'T say I feel it.
thanks cross! LOL the photo was a good one for erasing wrinkles and gray hair!
woohoo halfway!

Hi everyone. Ata, there ARE worse things to be addicted to -as long as she isn't licking the paint off your masterpieces
nope, she just makes a beeline for my water jars as soon as they have paint in them!
well, that's good then! Have you checked to see if they are non-toxic?
yes, they are :)
good job the amount of times I've accidentally drank from watercolour jars instead of my drinks
Oh, MY! Then you and your cat belong together! :-)

*sighs* oh, did I just miss Stid?
how's your new life, NB ?
Blissful, Chris :) we're in the honeymoon period...but still, it's lovely to be here. Better than I thought. Thank you for asking :)
Good - our Christmas wish for you came true.
Aw, thank you so much! yes - after the initial bad scene with my parents etc, I travelled down to london buffeted on wave of good thoughts from all babblers. Everyone's rallied around me so much...I'm really touched
Lots more good stuff to come for you and bf
with you guys behind me, I don't doubt it :) but after living under my parents' roof, where Leo wasn't allowed, it feels great to be able to see him all the time, without sneaking around...really liberating.
Anyway! Sorry, I'll drivel on and on if you let me. How are you?
Personal question - it's your Dad that's taking it so badly, but your Mum? and you mentioned a sister ?
Hey, my dd won't give me grandchildren, so I glom onto any you ones ...
that;s supposed to be young.
oh hec, gremlins in the computer, again.
It is my dad, Christine...mum isn't thrilled about it, but she accepts it. My little sister is great, has met Leo and loves him! So it's dad really...
don't feed 'em Chris! I've seen that film...
can't even spell heck !!
Gotta remember to call me Christine - Chris is a cousin of mine (a man-type person).
a man-type? LOL. Sorry, I do apologise :) Christine, then
almost typed 'christian' as a kind of hideous faux pas. the gremlins are spreading
Way back, in the 50s, it was a definite nono to be gay in London, so he always referred to himself as a mantype - only to the cousins, never the adults.
Christian's okay, that was my name until my Jewish Grandfather objected.
Sounds like you've got an interesting family there :) and I'm used to the problem of having two names myself - everywhere in the outside world I'm Jesse, but in the house/visiting relatives I am/was 'Young', my Korean name.
Originally I was to be Jacquline, then my Mum decided she liked the name Christian (doctor that delivered me). She should've known her Dad wouldn't like it.
Originally I was to be Jacquline, then my Mum decided she liked the name Christian (doctor that delivered me). She should've known her Dad wouldn't like it.
though sometimes, I guess, that's half the appeal :) what a great story, though!
Ah, my Poppy would've loved me, anyway. And since he married out of his faith, he had to make a lot of adjustments.
I was originally named Michael...but now i am just called a pain in the ar*e..LOL
LOL Zooz!!
How is every one tonight?
I like the name Michael...I like it's meaning. Makes me laugh to think in the flat at the moment we're Young and Leo, which means 'brave' and 'lion'!
Love that name. 'twas my brother's. and if dd had been a boy, it would've been her name. DH (as he was) wanted Debi or Mark - so he got a new wife, who gave hime what he wanted ...
hear us roar ;)
sappy
drat!!
Oh, I'm sleepy Zooz...about to turn in...can hear the sound of light snoring lulling me into a trance...zzz..
already had it, Christine ;)
Hi NB -- I just got back from feeding birds -- glad things are going well for you and Leo
Hi Jilli, and thanks!
hi zooz too :)
Yes i am about to goto bed, work tomorrow :-(
Hello, Jilli
sounds wise, Zooz...night all! :) x
night NB -- Night zooz!
Another lovely icon, Jillibus
Thanks, Christine -- aren't they sweet?
I saw a dreadful report on PBS about the injuries to them, from boat propellers.
I heard about that too -- horrible
i think it's not intentional, just people not giving thought to what may be just out-o-sight.
well, you know what I meant to type, before the gremlins got in their 2cents worth.
I read typonese very well, and write it too
Recently we were comparing education in NZ, and UK and US, and one woman said she learned I-don't-know-how-many languages, and another woman said she spoke only English, but also read and wrot Babble.
LOL!
hmmmm -wrote
Maybe some day someone will compose a piece using only babblets

Christine, why don't you have an icon?
I don't know how to do it. I know you can bring a picture from your photo gallery, but I don't know how ...
hello everyone how is everyone tonight?
I'm just a little ol' greyhead.
hi red -- doing fine (It's still afternoon here but getting dark)
Sorry, its very dark here. I always have trouble in winter. It gets dark so so early.
Christine, it's easy. Do you have a PC or a Mac?
I have a laptop.
red, it's 4:19 pm here and the light is fading fast
here too, I don't like winter
well, yes, Christine, but what kind? does it have an apple on the lid?
Oh, no. Sorry, it's Hewett Packard or somesuch. hp, anyway.
then it's a PC laptop and I can tell you how to get an icon.
Do you want me to email you?
Please do: rita.girl@earthlink.net

Ahhh, Love the Seuss sunrise. its like FLorida!
What I cant get over is the Grinch in Color, as we didnt have a color TV when I was growing up...
you're a green one, Mr Grinch! lol
indeed, it is so colorful. I think they may have remastered it...but of course I have nothing by a gray memory to compare.
do you have an HD TV?
Oh gosh no. FOllwing in my Parents footsteps I have about a 7-8 yr old TV bought on sale when people were getting all uptight about the conversion!
then your theory about remastering sounds good. 8-)
Woo Hoo! Fireworks. Bye all. Stay warm.
wtg rumple !!! ~~~ !!!
I had been thinking about upgrading, but instead I am going to save some money. I am hoping to host my Mom on a big trip all around Florida for photography....

So I was going to ask for a clue on the ps5 and the fish jumped up and slapped me.
*checks to see what BDG has been drinking.*
(that joke was courtesy of the writers of Damages. i take no responsibility.) 8-)
I'm sure in context, BDG it is very funny,....
any Ae words today?
out of context, it's kinda funny...wondering what the heck BDG is watching, (as well as consuming)
no ae words tonight
red, no, it wasn't that funny 8-)
We should count our blessings lbd.

I am trying to find blessings.
WTG WHT !!! ~~~ !!!
43 left. not too bad.
go red!
So are there any pattern to what combining forms get into enable?
hmmm, damages. that's a new one for me. i'm gonna risk a guess that it's a lawyer show?
none that i'm aware of, wht. mostly archaic, obscure, nonsense and sexist.
I can't tell you how many times I typed paleo but then we get the last pl5/14.
enable has no rhyme or reason me thinks
yep, lawyer thriller. seems to be more like a novel than a regular show, i mean it has 1-hr episodes but one big story
all interconnected, like a soap opera?
wht, you mean you don't use pl5 in your everyday conversations?
hint for the pl 5 Please?
pl + rock of ***s, comfort me...
Oh rats, I had it...
I did not care for Damages
the story line got a little off the wall
pl5.14 rhymes with muscle twitches
i'm up to episode 5 and losing interest. although it's well made, but too complicated for me to follow.
never saw it. I am so obsessed with NCIS...
and thought the acting of the young brunette was awful
I avoid the pl5,14 like the pl5/16.
pl5/14 -- ghosts are made of ectopl***
Awesome.
brb, need some hot tea
wht -- the pl5/16 is "beach" in French!
I avoid that in the winter, too. Don't wreck my bad pun with facts. :^)
LOL, wht! :D
There are other cluers here, and I must get some Xmas wrapping done -- back later
OK jilli
Have fun.
hope she's wrapping my present..
hi folks
Hi again question...I have entered 8 e words, the tiles say i still need one more, how many are there?
Hi welki
your pup woke me up last night, ruru ... dylan zimmerose . no kidding ... at 2am, i thought it was brilliant!
Hello all. Just checking in. I am exhausted and will get to bed soon, but I want to say hi to my Babble buddies
you can add them up in the stats, sea .. i count 8
hi scrabbs, nice to 'see' you :)
Sea, I have 8
Hi Scrabs. Keeping warm?
i did welki, thought maybe i missed one, this is weird
hi welki, ru, scrabs, sea, bye jilli
Hi scrabbler
dawg :)
Brrr. 22 degrees here
same here scrabbler
hi good enough! congrats on going pro!
ea4x2 ee4x2, eg4, el4, ep4, et5
we're coming out of two weeks of frigid weather, often below -25C ... 22F is balmy!
Good enough, is that a fish for slapping us?
Hi Scrabbs, How are you and the bunnies? (I just came in to alter my bio theme.)
hi jac :)
wht, i have no cause for fish slapping...least not yet
You are way up north, welki
hi Welki and everyone.
Hi Jac. Miss Bea Bunny is devouring her salad.
I've got the fish slap ascii. LOL
hi jac. GE, doo yoo speeek whaaale?
what's 9 degrees of latitude ... latitude schmatitude :)
Hi Dory!
Scrabbs - what's in her salad today? Not too much lettuce I hope? It makes bunnies soporific, Beatrix Potter said so!
Actually, Lake Erie keeps us "warm" in the winter, at least until it freezes over.
lbd - you need a whale sl4? What did you miss??
oooooooouuhhhhhhOOOOhHHHH...oo I think I got a little orca in there
me
LA6 anyone?
i have all those wht, but the e in the first column says i need one more
Salads = 3-4 bunches of : parsley, escarole, dandelion leaves, green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, romaine, endive.
keeps you warm, but you get lake effect snow and that can be brutal
The e at the bottom?
what you get when you sit down + domestic animal like a cat or dog, Gwen
no, the one under the c
Yes, when the lake is not frozen it serves as a snow-making machine, and I live in the lake-effect zone.
TY, dawg
TY dawg, seems so simple
Gwen - la6 is like a wattle on a fowl. la* (what you sit on one someone else) + domestic animal.
*on someone else (when they are also sitting).
I hope to cross-country ski again on Friday-Saturday-Sunday!
DOS
go BDG!!
apparently its not recognizing one of them
ea4.5, eg4.6, et5.12 those all come from that e under the C. sea
You're a very active person, Scrabbs. I get tired just reading about what you do. LOL
i have entered all those more than once and still says i only have entered 2, beats me
what a cute word ap 5/18 is! wow, that pie sure is ap 5/18! LOLOL
try refreshing, sea
good idea dawg, will do
lol, welki
<-- is going to see how thick the ice is this weekend and, hopefully, will be fishing :)
Seaspray, try clearing your browser cache (but not of cookies) and then refreshing (F5).
I am busy, but I also find time to relax.
that did it dawg, ty so much
Cool welki
wtg, sea
te6/24 please?
hope the ice is thick enough, welki.
ap5.18 is what you do when you write off for a job application, or you might ap5 yourself to a task.
it's beautiful on the lake this time of year ... so quiet. i love winter camping
te6,24 is a place of worship
what the T in TOwl stands for, scrabs
Scrabbs - a place of worship.
WORKS OF FIRE!!!
TY, that helped me to finish off the te's as I was missing the te4 and te5 also
jac! i am such an idiot! i saw the letters, not the word ... i put the emPHAsis on the wrong syLABle *LOL
Great clue lbd
whooooo hoooooo BOOK!!!
Send some of that fire to Scrabs - she is cold.
Well done, Gwen. Should we get the fire extinguisher out now?
whoo hooo
Yahoo BDG!
I have 3 layers on, wht.
welki - I do the same thing myself. LOL
NO, Tthanks, I stomped on it 8-D
put a hood or hat on scrabs.
(a smaller person would have said they were making a joke, not admit that she is truly a moron :)
I do that all of the time too--say the word wrong as I see it and then don't realize that it is a word
i thought you were joking, welki. i still think it's funny
yawning! this game wore me out.
i think it's funnier that i wasn't joking *really laughing*
I am warm enough, dawger, and will hide under a blanket and comforter in bed soon
Laughing with Welki.
*hands bdg a cuppa hot chocolate with baileys in it*
it's because of the word before it, i think ... no excuse, but that's my story and i'm stickin' to it
who needum clues?
Not I, Gwen.
oooh, yum. bailey's is whiskey???
e.g. I read it as app-lee
see my profile for what's in the bailey's, gwen
as in filled, completely filled, with fruit .. me, too!
ack! scotch and rum!!
lbd - I saved your Bailey's recipe a while ago and fully intend to try it out some time over the festive season.
someone said whiskey...
scotch and rum?! i put irish whiskey in mine! *makes the sign of the teaspoon*
Hi Cross
Hi Crossy. Have you tried those bacon muffins I gave you the recipe for yet?
if i drink that i'll be keel over in a flash
hi crossy
scrabbs!
not yet, jacula, got stuck baking a ton of christmas cookies
Time for me to go. Night all.
howdy ibd
Sleep well, wht.
it's nicely mixed to taste just like the bottled stuff you pay mega bucks for, gwen.

night night, gwen
'Bye Gwen.
'Bye wht.

what kind of cookies did you make crossy?
I think there are pillows in the PB tonight, Scrabs
night all
night, gwen
I have to finish putting up the Christmas decorations later. On Friday, after a trip to the dentist to have a rebroken molar mended yet again, I hope to get the 4 Christmas cakes iced and decorated. (I made marzipan poinsettias, holly and berries yesterday and left them to dry and curve on plates.)
I'll let the initial coat of Royal Icing dry first before putting the coloured marzipan decorations on, so that the colours don't leach into the white icing.
Oops, I put sl5 in the chat log
i think that's wht's reference to the PB scrabs
Scrabbs, we'll excuse you, since you are rather sl6/27.
*waiting to hear what Christmas cookies Crossy made*
I found sl5 this morning and never saw sl6. I have an excuse now (I am sl6) but I should have seen it this morning. Babble Blindness Syndrome is tough to fess up too
I will definitely be trying out the recipe for Christmas panna cotta that The Hairy Bikers made in their '12 Days of Christmas' programme last night. I've downloaded the recipe already. I love panna cotta.
At 115/46 I am ready for bed. i have a long day tomorrow: hospital rounds, work all day and then be on call
See you all in about 9 hours.
sl5 well, scrabs.
Get to your duvet and pillows then Scrabbs. Dormez bien.x
Crossy must have his hands occupied eating some of those cookies he made!
Well, the log's gone quiet so I'll asume no one needs clues.
'Night all.
'night jac
night jac

ya trying to scare me??
just warn ya. Dr. G can get some real doozies going for us.
I truly did not have the time or brain capacity to tackle yesterdays grid to the end
they are hard to do, when you've put in a full day of work and then try to do a tough grid.
oh so true
altho, sometimes the big ones are easier, cuz there are a lot of little words to find
lbd - how is that irish cream?

Hello stidmama! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle!
Goodby lbdawger! I will see you tomorrow in the chat
get 'er done stidd!
Hey crossy....tonight's item of interest is
lbd... I am with you... way past my bed time
MIN! I had the BEST time teaching a class of 6th graders how to write "twitlit"
wonder if you have heard of this yet... http://www.bakonvodka.com/
twitter-based storytelling: 140 characters (including spaces and punctuation)
anyway, they LOVED it! might work for high school students, too.
Great stidmama! My sixth graders pains in the arses!
(((Min))) sorry to hear that -- some classes are definitely more challenging than others.
never heard of it stid, but I am not suprised you had fun!!
M's Mashed! 9 left
go Min go!
ooh Hi Stiddy! how fun for you and the 6th graders. (had to come back to say hi to you.)
(((LBD))) thanks, it was a lovely day AND my evaluation with faculty went VERY well.
is the LO 6 fishy?
no, it's weird! lo + bon *oy***
no surprises there, Stid! you're going to be a super teacher!
oh! that's a plant! LOL looks a little like cilantro, I think
thanks LBD
An lo6/33 is lo 4/7 minus a letter plus how old you are
and thans also Min
okay, really going now. *poof*
LOL that LBD!
bye lbd
Good to see you again
so bugs, how are the kids holding up in your school? the energy level in the younger stidkid's school is really high
is the SL 6 after the permanent indentured servant fishy?
It is hard in middle school stid. They are still little enough to be excited, but old enough to have big projects that must be finished and presentations to give. Lots of stress
sl 6/27:I'm feeling very sl**** and must go to bed soon
the clue you need is a mis-spelling of the arm of your coat
Hi there!
hi kim
nite Min
true, stress level is fairly high.
hey kimm
Hello kimmtoats! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
how's it going?
that's the other SL 6, Min, need the one before that
Not going to be yet.Still need to get five more words.
go Min go!
Sorry MIn. I missed your clue as a message. LOL on me!
stid, My clue is right after Mins.
S's Stomped! 4 left
thanks Bugs, missed it...

that was my last one!
go Min go!
one left and I don't care any more. sa 6 please?
Hurray Stid.
Congratulations stidmama on fireworks!Good for you
I will stay and clue until you are done, then check email and lie down.
SA 6: latin plural the 5/12: (add a vowel)
That sa 6/21 word is the sa 5/12 plus a vowel Bugsaw
Thanks you both. I have it and fireworks now.
YAY BUGS!
Bugs, my elder is 17 today...
Congratulations Bugsaw on fireworks!Hooray for you
I was telling the younger about it, and he asked how I can remember "that far back" rofl
time goes by way too fast, stid!
I am laughing my head off here stid. My Dad used to give us a recitation at every birthday of what the weather was like, and what kind of car he had to drive to the hospital etc.
it sure does, kimm!
oh man! that sounds like what I do!
it snowed the morning this one was born!
my baby just turned 18!!
congrats kimm!
17 is a nice age. Still young enough to need you and yet he doesn't really. just nice to know
yep. this one has been talking about how in a year he "will be an adult" and ready to face the world. *sigh*
I still do it with my kids and they are in their 20s and 30s
*makes mental note* I do think that Granny would be able to do the same for her children who are in their 60s and 70s
*wondering if Min needs or wants clues*
I don't usually ask for clues on my last few words, but I am very sl6/27 and must go to bed soon. Sorry guys
I am sure she can. There is nothing better than a new life.
Ask away Min. Both stid and I had to ask for the last one
go for it, Minb!
I am pretty tired myself.
me three but I have to make another batch of cookies before tomorrow
mmmm. cookies!
Does anyone have a clue for the pe 6/27 word please
pe6/27 -- pe + cons + how old you are
well clued jill!

Hello jillibus! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
hi jilli. that was a fast clue
love your icon, min! I finished this afternoon.
hi bugs
Thank you for the pe 6/27 clue.I just found the word
ty stid -- good to see you again :)
I tried that ending with the other 2 p's in the puzzle
yes, there are 3 with that ending, I think
I like yours icon jillibus. They look like they're in love.
P's Pummeled! 1 left
I thought so too,min :)
gogogo min!
Does anyone have a clue for the ag 5/20 word please
ag5/20 -- a + donated

Never mind!
Jill is a clueing machine tonight!
YAY MIN!!!!!
I'm done! I have fireworks! My last word was ag 5/20
YAY minveryork!!!
*yawn* usually I can stay up for a while, but for some reason my whole brain and body are tired. I am going to head out and see you-all tomorrow.
Hurray MIn. Now we can leave the clueing to jilli and disappear ourselves!
(((((hugs everyone)))))) see you soon. *Poof*
Thanks for cluing as I shamefully begged on last few.
I need an early night too. Good night all.
don't disappear, bugs!
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
bye min! Did I scare everyone away?
nite min!
hello kimm
*lurk...lurk...lurk..."
nite bug!
hi lurky rbud ;)
hi jilli!
hi, jilli! just got here, going to try to finish
sleave
I can clue, rbud
PB for kimm
sorry, guys!
darn, already had that one, kimm ;)
what does pb mean?
Penalty Box, for posting words in the chat. It's usually full of your favourite goodies
means you're being sent to the "penalty box", kimm
shoot! i will get it straight one of these times.
brb
well, this is officially the most words I have ever gotten from a puzzle. dont laugh...53!!! 517 pts!! I have also only been at it for about an hour and a half. so...pretty good, I think.
evening all...
well done, kimm
calling it quits too! G'night all!
night kimm
i'm here...late start 95 left
same here, mpitt
had to go change my icon...had yesterdays
sorry -- phone -- back again
The whole idea of the Penalty Box is that it does NOT contain anything you mght like or that might comfort you. Stale bread and stale water is all that is available, no comfy seats or treats. The world's getting far too soft!
Don't suffer fools gladly, especially if they've been given multiple opportunities to improve.
I'm back, had to drop everything and take Hubs to work, his ride didn't show up. Bet no one even knew I was gone, lol!
Next icon theme is Ugliest Christmas Decoration in case you're interested.
There is too much tolerance these days and that is stretching my tolerance to the limits.
jilli - I already have the ugly Christmas toenails in place.
jac -- I just refreshed and saw that -- almost picked it myself, lol!
Guess I'd better post mine now before someone else does
Being 'a bit thick' seems to be seen as a plus these days. Now when did that happen?
back in a mo
jilli - LOL re the toenails. We're well matched, except music wise.
I'm going to wander off to bed before I become a more Grumpy Old Woman.
I still can't see how stupidity is the new trend.
GRRRRRRRRRR! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Here's my ugly offering
Incidentally those remarks are not aimedat any paritcular Babbler, those one or two do fit the bill, but at my StepD and her generation.
OW! That IS nasty, jilli.
oooh, jilli! *covers eyes*
What was she thinking?
I really MUST go now, afore I get too grumpy.
ok, jac -- sweet dreams ;)
rbud -- how are you doing? Need clues?
No reply? I'll do kitchen cleanup then -- back later.
hi.
i'm frustrated because the sour salt - both of them - went walkabout
hi dc
sour salt?
Jewish name for citric acid
evening, jilli
Oh -- what did you want it for?
there are two bottles - somewhere
they were on a shelf near the kitchen. I remember moving them, but not where
i run it through the dishwasher now and again to freshen it and remove stains
Top of the fridge?
ah -- good idea.
and it's a useful tartening agent in baking and cooking
i looked up there, on the spice rack, in all the food cupboards, and the one with the salts, and among the baking goods
and under the sink
in the refrigerator
in the oven?
no, used it yesterday, i know it's empty
i did check the drawer under it, though. only baking pans and cooling racks there
took some with you to the bathroom?
hm. brb, i'll check there
57 left so it's a no finish on this one...around the holidays I don't have a smuch time to get on the computer
hi MPitt
Hi Jilli...Are your roads better?
It poured rain and washed all the snow away, MPitt, all 4 inches of it.
Wow...hopefully it won't turn into ice...that's so much worse than snow!
nope not there, nor in the wine nor liquor cabinets. Ah, well. It'll show up.
that happens here a lot in the Winter, jilli
No, it's supposed to stay well above freezing.
Frustrating, dc!
quiet so, but thus is life sometimes
I used to live in Devils Lake, North Dakota and it began to snow in Oct. and we didn't see the ground again until the May thaw..of course that was 35 years ago and the weather patterns are changing
Everyone like my Ugly Christmas Decoration?
it's frightening, jilli
hi everyone.
MP, that was like the Montreal winters we had -- well, maybe ours weren't quite so bad.
Yes, Jilli...it made me shiver! *smile* I will have to look for a good one after the flip
helol, rose
hi granny :)
dcs, how are you buddy?
We used to ski in Montreal...such fun...went to the carnival in Feb.
oh alright, thank you. Still seeking work. And you?
* smiling back at you * hi jilli
I had some of the best coffee up there and bread with maple butter on it in a little french stone house
well, not IN Montreal! Where? We skied in the Laurentians. Or are you thinking of Quebec City?
woohoo, fireworks!
congrats, rbud
and in the nick of time
YAY rbud!!!
Hi everyone, would like a very small one tonight please
I work well under pressure. :D
We skied at Mt St. Anne, Owls Head and I can't remember the others
hi flosey
a quick one would be nice, agreed, flosey
bummer dude. my GP gave me a right talking to this AM.apparently i went back to work too soon, and i shouldn't have reduced my pain meds so rapidly
wow jilli, quite a fashion statement?
Once we went to a winter sports complex what a ball felt like a kid again on the innertubes
cute icon, flosey :D
