In case anyone is wondering how ch 6 could be allowed, it's (1) an old Scottish unit of liquid measure equivalent to about a quart. (2) a container holding this amount.

well done mpd
whoo hoo mpd
hi all
hi jmc
YAY mpd!!!
does anyone have a clue for the bi8?
oh gosh and I thought a toea was a bug!
lve and learn, jmc :)
sorry flosey i just walked in the door
tks anyway jmc
I'm pretty much stuck with 45 left :(
got to last 9 and had to list - tough today
learned 3 new words
bi 8 is something intel makes
it sounds like a cross between a belch and an insult
the clue i just gave was for the bi 7
my comment was for the bi 8
(one of the 3 I'd never heard of)
good one grem
I'm afraid I'm still in the dark
working on it grem
bi4 + sc**** is an alcoholic drink
the online dictionary defines it as a variant of that bi4, oddly enough
tytyty grem, odd one
the word, that is
the pa8 looks very similar to that
brain not working here
pa8 means "a Scot word for porridge"
I can't think of an sc**** alcoholic drink
so just go for something that sounds vaguely the same
jilli: also hopsc****
(a children's game)
not whiskey but sc****
oh, stupid me -- ty grem!
but i haven't found the bi4
bi4 sounds like what you might say when it's really cold
and thanks grem, for the pa8
phantom carnotite (I think it was a word in the first puzzle I played here)
ty grem
got that bi8 -- thanks, grem
and the pa8 is almost the same, and it sounds sort of like porridge
oky i think i must crash
good night all
no def for the bi8 here, but google says "noun. onrush or driving force; impetus; a vibrant whirring sound."
night jmc
ah, got the pa8 too -- more thanks to grem
yeah, where I looked it up it said it was an intransitive verb meaning "to make or move with a [br4]"
Oops, bi4
the two 8s were new - the other new one was ap7
no def here for pa8 either, but google agrees with grem
need that ap7 too
ap7 = a plant that reproduces by ap***xis (ap*** = same first 5 letters)
a + (many **ems rhyme) + (swing and a **ss!) + Hollywood a**or
ty grem
doesn't look much like a real word, does it?
great clue, grem -- thanks!
no, doesn't
I wonder what kind of reproduction that is,,,
never heard of it
[Ap******] is an asexual type of reproduction in which the plant embryos grow from egg cells without being fertilized by pollen—the male part of the plant.
I think there are lots of never-heard-of-it words here
Scientists use it to clone some plants, apparently.
And make new genetic hybrids.
ty grem, I'll sleep peacefully knowing that ;)
carotine is "not found in the dcitionary"
or even in the dictionary
yeah, I was confident I had my first 8 when I tried it
It does have "carotene" though
ah, I guess carotene is the correct speling
I do see a lot of web results for "carotine" though
I think it is just a common misspelling.
probably
it is the ca7, tho
any clues for ca7/32 copa
sorry -- tired
just leave off the last vowel
missing that one too
ty momof5

phant -- enmity. This grid is full of phantoms

Hi Ruby and everyone, just been plodding away and have 22 left
anyone have a clue for pa7?

yw
hi diz and ruby (took a break, just back)
I should take a 7 hour break!! but only 8 to go and would love to finish up
was hoping for a big grid today!
coir
is anybody else finding
sorry, whoops, coffee in PB?
the acceptance very slow!!
yes ruby, this is a tough one
tis may not be big but it's mean
gee, the first 20 were easy hahahah
oh yes, I got nbt quickly, but . . .
I'm going to bed -- 23 left and I'm too sleepy to see anything
goodnight all!

more phantoms than real words!
that's for sure ruby
lots of words that are new to me
morning
g'morning Katie
hi katie
hi Ruby how is your girl's limp today
worse. her head practically hitsa the ground with each step.. She is eating normally, wagging her tail and isn't crying, and I massaged her foot, ankle, leg, elbow, shoulder etc without her limping, so tomorrow we go to the vet. It is very upsettin
without her flinching* And of course DH is being nasty
oh hold on in there, hopefully the vet can sort her out on Monday
it is making me sick!
normally, the vet would make a house call, but I think she needs an x-ray
fingers crossed for her
thank you
I can't imagine what it could be. Wouldn't she cry if it was arthritis?
how old is she ruby?
i'm not sure ruby
not quite 7 1/2
unfortunately, these chows are very fragile! and we've had very bad luck with them, hence my worry
poor thing, hope the vet can help her
and she's my favorite of the 5 we've had over the years
i'm off to start packing, see you later x
Hi, just logged onto to chat to say good luck with vet, ruby. Have visitors so having a quick secret babble before they surface :-) and will have to shoot off soon.
bye katie
hi sally and thank you.
our visitors start next weekend, but I will do plenty of "slipping off"
down to 1 word, and can't get it, ne5, any clues please?
Could she have stone in her foot, or injury in some way?
I checked all her parts as deeply as I could with my fingers and she never gflinched or pulled away
flosey, don't know if it's only one, but there is a favourite babblet: ne plus not bottom
she's so valiant, but she wouldn't go for her usual walk this AM
tytyty Sally, that's it for fireworks
congrats flosey
now I can sleep peacefully
now I had better go and deal with DH! and get dressed
<beam>
hopefully I'll have fresh eyes when I come back
positive thoughts for kitty, ruby
ty floseym sweet dreams
ty and goodnight all
how many words are there today please??
113
Can anyone clue the bi7 please
chemical potatoe crisp??
bi plus vowel plus what Uk eats with fish!
Thanks ursh what a wonderful discription, thanks Sally that was a super clue xx
(( description)) even spelling gone to pot
Having to use lickety cos not much time, and I have to say of the words I have eventually monkeyed I have never ever heard of in my life (not that one)
I am finding that more the case each day, either these words are being made up or my vocabulary is as good as I thought it was lol
great clue, sally, never would have gotten it
I just pulled up the tallest dandelion I've ever seen, close to two feet!
The bi8 is case and point if that isn't a made up word I don't know what is lol
No, I couldn't find a definition for that one either
that's funny, I got a bi7, can't imagine the 8!
And the last ca 6/24 is the silliest word I ever heard of!
Haven't got that one yet
hint for it?
or either 8?
the ca 6/24: start with a three-letter vehicle, then three letters which mean not bottom. Then look up the definition!!
can't even begin to clue the bi 8, except that it's bi plus double consonant, which should get you started.
bi4/6 + when you get an **** you scratch it, just change the first vowel
that is ridiculous, but ty anyway, sally
did yoiu get the ca 6 ruby?
yup, both of them. One should be capitalized !! and the other is just plain silly
shd I make husband apologize, or just let it go?
he does this every Sunday
?
he gets nasty about really minor stuff
Going to watch the Marathon see you all later
it's horrible because we're both upset about the dog and I really don't need additional tension!
sally, you're the expert at calm.....
ruby, just one suggestion then I must go (hear stirring noises from upstairs!). Can you just say to him, look, either we live here together and try to get along and be civilised to each other, or do you want to go our separate ways? I know from what you've said before you can't do that, but the choice might actually focus him and see what his actions do to you. Just a thought, and said in a nice reasonable way, not an accusing way :-) I know it's difficult ...
thank you sally, you are very wise. I'll try it
morning all - both the 8s are silly words today
then tell me why I can't have "titch"!
clues for them? I can't get either. what about mirch?
mitch
or potch
have to go.
((sally)) and thanks for listening!
enjoy your company
the pa one is the name for a young salmon plus what you scratch and the bi is very similar letters but change the last i for the next vowel
and you know those words how? lol
but thank you, kaz
cheated - used the a2z
hahah
only way with weird words
Morning all......are we all well and happy this morning???
morning flask - very well for a change - did another lang walk yesterday and dont ache at all
thats fab, Kazzer!
we walked 9.5 miles yesterday - lovely walk in the countryside from Chard to Axminster
what a lovely long walk
if I walk a mile, I'm knocked flat afterwards. You must be a lot younger
reached half
clue for ap7 please?
I'm 52. We have deicded to get fit again this year - the walk yesterday had a few hills in it but not many - the longest walk was 16.5 miles but all on the flat - along the Taunton to Bridgwater canal
a plus three letters for a little dog or an Aussie term of abuse for English people, last three letters are a mix up of a nervous twitch.
I havent got that one yet - ap7
Morning Haz!
Good morning/evening all.
thanx for that, got it!
Well done!
thats a healthy walk Kazzer!
Haz, I beg to differ, I always regard that term as one of affection (for english people)
I'll be back later to finish wrestling with thins...
This, not thins. No thins in our house.
Bye!
bye
bye Haz!
bye haz
any clues for the ca 6/21 after the big chicken

I am from Perth too Ani , wasn't it a lovely day today
Very nice sandy - son took us for a drive in his old car (classic) and then prawns on the barbie at he and his sisters house. Very relaxed family day.
fireworks
I went to a horse show and it was lovely sitting on the grass watching the horses
We watched some anzac things in the morning of course - always think of my dear dad today
I love these warm days and cold nights - but I love strorms too - How did you fare in the 'Great Storm"
Hello everyone
My husband's grandfather was in that war and we have all his medals
hi lynxx
eww who is this Buswell, think you should lose him Sandy & Anike
My daughters car was trashed - needs a new roof and bonnet. We need our family room ceiling painted etc - had a flood there.
Troy Buswell is a fool to himself - intelligent man who never grew up
I don't like any of the politicians we have around at the moment
Not an inspiring bunch really, are they sandy?
We have a house in Nedlands - broken windows, leak in roof and the girls that rent it all had their cars dented
Indeed they are not Ani, especially 'Mr Sheen'
were you both covered by insurance for everything?
My son works in Nedlands at a car dealership - every car, new and used, was damaged. Son was fortunately on his way home early so his precious car survived.
We are covered for damage to the house- yes! Only one of the three girls was covered for her car - I feel so sorry for them
Insurance covers all our problems
I sometimes wish we could go back to some of the old ones
I had just put the horses in the stable when the hail started here, so I felt happy for them - We sat and watched the storm for ages out here at the 'farm' it was fantastic to see the rain- our paddocks are turned green now
Politicians, I mean - but not the WA Inc. ones
My mum has a hailstone in her freezer which is as big as a golfball - she's in Applecross
I agree about the old polies but I did like John Howard
pollies
We had them that size here in Hillarys apparently - I was at work so didn't see them
that rings a bell...I think I have distant relatives who used to live in Applecross
I was brought up in Applecross, it's a lovely suburb
I had better go and ice my cake - my mother in law is coming out of nursing home tomorrow for birthday lunch.
You better do a great job then Ani
I lived in Applecross for a couple of years and went to primary school there before we moved to Albany
Hey ,I went to Applecross Primary 1956-191962
Did you go to Applecross primary sandy? We are similar age and may have been there at same time.
You two are only 2 years apart - you may know one another!
162
1962
I started there in 1962
OOps new Dr Who is on (on ABC) back later
who was your grade 7 teacher, I had Mrs Allen and Mr Mitchell
I had Mr Jeans in grade 5
Actually my profile needs updating - I'm 58 (59 later this year). I had Mrs Allen and another male teacher - but left part way through that year to go to Albany. Had Mr Jeans but can't remember which year
Wow, How funny!! Mr Jeans always taught Grade 5 I think and he was my favourite teacher
I'm 60 this year
We always went down to Applecross Jetty to swim after school
Probably a year ahead of me. I came to grade 5 from Kununoppin in 1962
I had a boyfriend called Graham Sell who was from Albany - he did a lot of skin diving
Don't know him
LOL This is amazing
I lived in Kintail Road - down towards Canning Bridge
I lived in Gairloch Street
Mum is still there and has built a lovely new house on her block
Trying to think of some names - Anne Marris, Ronelea Coney
My sister went there too, her name was Megan Jessup
Reason I came in and out is that my dad was a bank manager and we moved around a bit
I have met a lot of old pupils as I grew up , they have mostly done incredibly well over the years
Brett and Jonathon Townsend - Brett died in grade 7
I remember Sheryl Kay, Diane Johnson, Julie Fletcher Bruce Byfield and lots of other
Someone you might know because he was your age - Bob Symes (another bank brat)
How did Brett die? That sounds awful
Brain tumour
Oh how horrible and very sad
Small world eh?
It was - the class was told at start of year that he was sick and we were to be protective of him - he passed away just after I left.
You and I have been on Babble for ages and we now discover this? How fabulous
It is a small world indeed.
It is a small world indeed.
Anyway, better get on with this cake. Bye for now.
bye for now
BBL have to feed and rug horses, it's getting cold
Anyone home? Tough little grid today..
Hi Jayk, just got back
have you done much of this?
actually I just looked my words when you said tough - a mere 41
yeah, i got to 55 without much trouble, but now all i see are as and os
with or without list?
without--but i think i'll have to list soon.
seems likely doesn't it ... going to focus for a bit
good afternoon all
hi Sprite
hi lyn, tough one, I see in chat?
I think so, but then, I'm no gremlin
seems to be, piece of cake for you I bet. How was your week Sprite?
rotten... yet another flu, me and my girl. How was yours?
Sorry to hear that Sprite - you must tell your kids to quit bringing home these bugs! My week was good - nothing special though
a good week is lovely, glad you had one :)
lol I wouldn't dare suggest it, my girl feels bad enough as it is. Had to tell her it wasn't her fault in any way.
Do you get flu shots each season?
yes I do. Still, not all viruses are covered by the shots. My resistance is zero since the allergy to antibiotics. Will take some time to rebuild.
I hope this one passes quickly for you
thank you. I am sure it will. If tomorrow brings warm weather, I will take Caya and myself outside, in a blanket, in the sun. Much better than indoors!
Terra would just love it too
oh yes. He is canoeing with my love today.
morning again, been to Church and now have possession of the big computer so will be able to read the chat
I think I agree with your judgment, lyn and Jayck. Fast start, sturdy brick wall and way too many As.
Hi Katie, bags all packed?
hi Katie
and said to say, listing isn't much help either
Hi lynxxx not even started yet! An hour of babble then will get going so Hubby thinks I have been hard at it whilst he has been out lol
coiny
sorry
ok, thanks for the warning
good to know I thought I was being thick today
hey I found a valid composer of classical music
ty sprite :-)
lol it means an old Scottish unit of liquid measure equivalent to about a quart, or a container of that size.
my pleasure! And my new thing learned for today too.
oh just found the short name for one of our soap operas co 6/21
I do have one co6/21 but no idea if that is the one :)
how is tortie not in the dictionary. Crumble and Rhubarb and going to sulk!
silly enable!
mind you they have seen the cases so they are sulking anyway
poor torties
Norma is looking after them so it's not like they are going to be neglected
they will miss you, but they will be fine
I hate leaving them so they are being spoilt rotten at the moment
:D
does anyone have the bi 7/28?
got 2 6's
compound word, b** (eco correct ) = computer ch**
+ n0t =
TY Ruby and hi
hi rubyfoo
Hi all, just popping in, but I am finding this grid tough going. How are all of you?\
hi Mich, yes it is hard
i'm just at half, will glean what I can from the rest of the chog, but hpeless for most, I'm sure
hi Mich, am finding it interesting too
Hi, muchnick. How is your eather?
mich nik, or much of a mich!!
Hot here, sunny, typical Israeli spring-almost summer day. We've had weird weather all last week though. Cool, even rain, almost unheard of after Marc!
weather* my typing is perticularly bad today
do you get desert flowers after the rain?
thanks, Ruby!
left and right columns greyed out
Yes, this is the season. Nothing in my immediate neighborhood but lots of desert flowers & wildflowers just north and west of me. My pot cactus on my porch is covered with lovely purple blooms though.
Stuck on last three 7's : ap 7/40, bi 7/48 and pa 7/36 any clues gratefully accepted
I love cactus flowers. Where my son lives in Texas hill country, in March the little hills are covered in flowers.
Ruby just clued bi7.48
It's amazing when the desert blooms. No water for miles and miles yet lots of lovely flowers!
bi7, see clue at 6:09!
must be so impressive to look at
I've heard that namibia is like that for a very short time each year, but I don't thik I'll ever get there.....
Yes, but you know how it is when you live somewhere, it is so hard to get out of the routine and go see the beauty of the country!
pa7 a pa****ion divides areas in an office, add a vwl
i'm not getting the clue at all. I think i have got the first bit and the last but the computer ch** is not working for me
fish & ch**s
ty lynxx
ty lynxxx
thanks lyn
I was looking for the musical form...
ty lynxxx, must be the start that is wrong lol
fortunately, wee 've done everything we can so that our property is a microcosm of what plants can be grown and what birds and animals can visit
ap7: ap + c**e to the edge + frozen water **e + consonant
sorry for the hopeless clue but cannot think of a better one
bi* (eco correct + ch** like with fish and.....
Okay, well that's all for now. My son is home with a stomach ache & is boooooooored, so I must give up my computer time. Bye all.
bye Mich
bye Mich, hope he will be better soon
got the ap7, now I'll use it in a sentence, lol
bye Mich
bye mich
looking at my son in law, I am pretty sure he is an ap7
;)
raofl! sprite
it means an organism produced by any of several types of asexual reproduction
you are not old enough to have a sIL, sprite!!!
well I never thought I would say this but I'm going to iron 'cause it's got to be better than trying to get words in this grid
hehehe that is why I can say it still... once I have one, I will be more careful!
Katie! Go wash your mouth, silly.
yes, katie, this is a very hard grid, especially for me!
ironing? what's that?
I know I don't normally but this time I need to get some done!
yay found an 8
I thought wrinkled clothes were "in"
Yay, won the bidding on some wine. I have got hooked on an Australian auction site. Can't stay away from it but trying to limit the amount I bid. Dozen bottles of Sauv Blanc for $44.00 delivered isn't bad though
not bad at all, gratz lyn
that sounds like a terrific bargain, lynxx
gong to lie out in the sun and red, hopefully will catch a little nap!
read* (maybe get red lol
good hunting rubyfoo
So far got ties, woollen quilt/comforter...hopefully getting perfume and moroccan leather bag - no.,no, I am not hooked on it
bye Ruby, sounds a lovely way to spend an afternoon
no no, none of us has an addictive personality!!! noononop
lol lyn, sounds good though
Ruby, what are you reading?
so back to the grid - did you get the bi8 Sprite?
yes I did, lyn
rats - can't swap with you then
darn, that would have been nice
good morning all
Odd grid today
hi all-good to see you..can you pls give me a clue for bi7
just checking, it is 8.60?
Hi Merk
clue for that bi please
bi8/60, yes. Hi Merk
hi Niks
hi sprite
hi niks
hi lynx
How's the spinach translation coming, Sprite?
bi8 like the ballpoint pen, double the cons & childs game hopsco***
bi7 is a compound. Bi* nature-friendly + fish and ****s.
bi8: bi + double consonant + turn it down a n****
ty
not at all, Merk. I am down with a flu, and my girl is too.
oh, too bad, sprite
hello everyone!
yeah I am popular with the viruses atm. But I will do the translation as soon as I can.
hi Annie
hmm-bi7..im stumped but ill try later-too hard for my brain..thanks anyway
hi sprite, feeling under the weather, sorry to hear..hope you and your darling girl will be up and about soon
niks: one of the things you learn at school, bi*logy, + what makes your computer think
thanks Annie :) How've you been?
hi Annie
sprite, I am okay..just the problem with the neuropathy, otherwise fine
Hi Lynxxxxie
Where is the other 8 please?
not a pleasant thing, the neuropathy, but glad you are ok otherwise!

Good morning.
this grid has teeth and is biting me
hi gail
yah-thankyou so much
hi Gail, and wtg niks
morning Gail
good to see you sprite-ive missed you all
Can someone tell me where the second 8 is please?
pa8
ty

I think I need a clue for the ap 7 and that pa 8.
sorry, don't have either Merk
I finally got the ap 7, and have not a clue how to clue it either.
I will try for the pa8. A bird that can speak is a pa**ot. + a thing you cannot help but scratch.
nice clue Sprite - thanks
thanks spritey, great clue
good clue sprite
hi Jean
I think this was Haz's clue for the AP7 - ap+small dog+anagram of nervous movement
great sprite - thanx! :)
thanks :)
oops, that's a+small dog+anagram of nervous movement
good clue
I feel as if I am struggling with almost every word.
worked for me ;)
it is a grid with a bi4
yikes what a word
got it City - good clue, sily word :)
hi all incoming chatters
it is fairly ridiculous, even by babble standards :)
pa 8 clue please
just clued it, Merk
I missed seeing it, Sprite. ty, great clue
that ap7 is an organism that is produced by nonsexual means
yvw
that's no fun
lol bojazz, indeed!
Well, I'm losing my internet connection and am up and away again ... on toward Dayton, Ohio. See you tomorrow.
bye Merk
bye Merk - happy travels!
safe travel Merk
ty, bye
fireflies. Very interesting grid :)
very good sprite :)
Congrats Sprite!
thanks :) That -ch ending was far more productive than I thought at first.
interesting is one word for the grid - i've got several others not fit to write here
hehehe I understand. I like the challenge, but I know how frustrating it can be. Anything I can help with before I go lie down again?
like this grid is a bi5.18 perhaps?
lol
if you've finished this, you deserve to lie down- with a stiff toddy to go with it!
great idea!

Wow, that's a statement. I think it's beautiful also.

of course
It burned to the ground about 5 years ago
bbl
that's where my parents met - she was a summer waitress from SC, my father did some work for the man who founded and owned the tavern
my older sister will be very sad to hear that - she is so fond of history in the family
by Peri

gotta tell - she finds out otherwise, i'm in the deep stuff

clue for ca 6/27
automobile + not bottom
so i heard something interesting in a talk yesterday which never would have occurred to me. the talk was about service animals for the disabled. the speaker mentioned, as an aside, that it has occurred to some that it would make much more sense to pair the physically disabled with the mentally disabled. the mentally disabled could cook and so forth and be better at doing physical stuff than, say, a helper monkey, and would be in a more protected and good environment than a lot of group homes and things, and both would have companionship. yet people don't do it, and what's more, people are very willing to donate money for training helper monkeys, but not willing to donate for this kind of thing, even though it would be much more economical. thoughts?
opps wrong word, sorry
ca 6----nice bacation spot, warm weather
it worked Mom
interesting idea, hursh
interesting concept
hey there crossy
I'm glad Boo
howdy everyone;)
Hi {{Crossy}}
*vacation
Crosssy!!!! I need to ask a question
go right ahead annie;))
so wherein do you think the aversion lies? does it seem like one party would be "using" the other, rather than it being mutually beneficial? or do we just think it's so much cooler and cuter to use monkeys?
Cancun is not in the grid ;)
carribean, but different
would it not be too mentally challenging for the physically disabled person?
i don't know, flask - in what way would you imagine?
crossy, do you know about HDMI wires or cables?
ok for example,my wife needs a seeing eye dog, would a mentaly disabled person be able to judge correctly safety in all situations when my wife is moving around outside? just a thought
*wants to know about HDMI also*
well....they would have to have their wits about them at ALL times.....
don't they already have to?
and would they have accepts responsibility for the mentally disabled partner?
that is a good question, for sure.
i know many cables and wire hook ups but that is not one of them(can you be specific as to usage of this wire type?
bbl
crossy - i think that you could probably make sure that they could - you wouldn't have the very severely mentally handicapped involved.
Hi, all. Oooh, Crossy's answering a MAN question!
bye Peri
Hi, all. Oooh, Crossy's answering a MAN question!
Hi NancyBoy
oops. once was enough, sorry.
HDMI computer hook up to TV for display
not really nancy, technology goes faster than ole crossy sometimes
I have a flat screen TV that I want to hook up to High Def. but the picture sometimes is distorted and the sound skips. I was told a HDMI would fix this but before I go out and spend $80 I would like to know if this is the solution.
goes too fast for ME, Crossy. Sometimes the cat unplugs cables just to tease me.
sorry ladies,i would have to google information same as you in this case;(((
half way for me, be back later. Hats off to all who get fireworks. {{Hugs}}
Thanks crossy...will google and try to understand
bye (((Mom)))
{{Annie}} have a great day
i want to hook up my laptop to play online videos on my HD tv, and i don't know, even after googling, how to make sure i get the right one for my gen of macbook and how to know if it will have both audio and video and whether i already have too much other crap plugged into the TV to do it!
i DO know that not just any flat screen should be hooked up to high def,you need a high def tv for a high def hook up,and cable companies usually supply all cables with ther high def boxes
does anyone have the ca 7
Sorry Hurshy wasn't ignoring you......pc crashed!
The Cablevision tech (the 3 rd one that came to solve this) mentioned HDMI wire.
sounds kind of like the vitamin, beta ca________
'sok flask!
and hursy is you lappy high def capable, many are not you may end up looking at 2 inches of black screen on each side
ty
i don't care about picture quality, i just want to be able to view things on a larger screen.
i mean, i'm assuming the pic quality would be roughly the same as the laptop, not worse, but that is fine with me.
i know it can be done hurshy,i was in staples the other day and they had 6 different lappys all hooked up to one giant flat screen for demo usage
i suppose that's the key, go into a store to get a cable, instead of buying online.
sometimes even crossy uses the geek squad;/
what a NICE miss mitty i have.
crossy, the Geek Squad hooked up my TV..so they would be able to give me the answer to all this...???
indeed annie;)))
okay, crossy, will do. thanks
they can probably fire you a answer right down the phone line;)
she's a most good doll of a cat.
see my television is still pretty primitive as i do not have much use for cable channels full of garbage..hehe i still have a actual running vcr and about 100 tapes when i want a movie lol
sometimes she licks me Just Because She Knows I Like It! i call that very kind.
every time a tape breaks with age ,i replace it with a dvd

hi jmb
my m-i-l has a beautiful antique victrola
Could do, Hurshy, but I'm far too tired and grouchy for that ;)
LOL Hurshy!
I win. I have a hobbit and a view of St michaels Mount
the one that plays the tubes, not the lp,s
always tossing in that hobbit to win the hand eh?
you do win though Crossy - we have a record player but only for the sake of the handful of records we own. Usually, it's iPods and docks!
always gets a few points from the dog lovers
domesticated dogs aren't older than bread, and views of particular places aren't universal enough.
I'd be impressed if you'd tamed your own mammoth
i have a 450 year old 5 oz ingot of silver...:)
just a quick q..does anyone
bi*d + fish and *****
does anyone know if you can play previous babble games and how
you can't, sadly :(
I'm living in a flat that behaves like it was fashioned by cavemen, if that counts
why would one want to play previous games?
Correction
I named a fossil species from about 250 million years ago. Ha.
i mean you can see what the grids were and like, play on paper or something, but, you can't enter the words on the site

ccquiescent? acquisitive? depends on what word you are looking for
I win, I have a baroque harp.... (your turn)
I have been trying to get my PC to run faster and it is not cooperating.
since i can't think of one for that root
acquisitive isn't right at all
that's when you want to acquire stuff
have you run msconfig scrabby?
no, of course not.. i wasn't reading back. just saw your question. acquiescent is probably what you want'

after all this time, the site couldn't possiblt be a source of revenue.
I have used a process scanner, computer cleaner...do I enter msconfig in RUN
oh? the fish? Acentrophorus pattersoni
and i know you use ff scrabbs, but temp files and cookies still build up in IE,get rid of them
Who is Patterson (?)
yes, acquiescent!
and if you do not have the c cleaner program, download it
certainly not Paterson NJ (the most dangerous city in NJ... far worse than Newark, actually)
I will keep working on stuff, Crossy. I cannot afford a new PC now.
owie
catchy, eh? LOL Colin Patterson was a fish palaeontology genius and a great mentor to me. He died just before I finished my PhD
my MART is a very very very fine MART
Marty boy, Hursh!
i thought camden held that honor - are you sure?
running c cleaner is the best start scrabby
Very cool. Where did you find the fish?
only now he is annoying his sister by sniffing her butt.

Strange word! TY, Hurshy.
And poncho
it was from the Zechstein Sea, which was an old sea that covered pretty much a lot of Eastern England and the North Sea of today. Actually found the specimens? Shoved in a drawer at the Natural History Museum :)
thanks, glad i didn't try to monkey that one!
well, i think i will be off. ttfn all
How do you go about finding out if a scpecies has been named before?
wikipedia, of course!
ty hurshy
with at least f discernable threads of conversation, i don't seem to be able to participate in any of them. time to do something productive.

I made pancakes, with berries, yesterday AM, and had farina with berries this morning.
i had to stop going to bed with a full belly,it was killing me
my biggest meal is lunch
spend my nights choking and tryiing to swallow my own tongue is not fun;/
my pauper meal is breakfast

SPRING!! we have actual spring! the tree are budding and a real live unfrozen bird is singing outside the window:)
Woo hoo, Crossy!
yaaa! will have to take my lady for a walk down by the water and find a pretty flower to put in her hair;))
oc6/24 clue please
I am going to head into town now to shop--fridge + cupboards are almost empty.
you have all the fixin,s for a nice stew...hehe
crossy bad
I don't have it, Matches
Stop it, Crossy. Rabbits are not for eating!
crossy is sorry
You like to push that bunny button.
mm bunny buttons
You may eat chocolate + marshmallow rabbits.
can we eat lapin?
No, lawyer. Real bunnies cannot be eaten.
How about Hasenpfeffer?
Nope. I know that Haas = rabbit in German.
u ruined my menu for today!
what does rabbit even taste like? I'm not a meat-eater.
chicken
everything tastes like chicken apparently ;) crocodile, frogs legs, humans...!
and don't say I should just eat chicken!
LOL. I'm a vegan so even chicken is too far!
NB, I am a vegetarian that is seriously pondering going vegan.
Our French neighbor finds the American attitude towards eating rabbit puzzling. She went to a supermarket when she first arrived--a market stocked with all kinds and cuts of meat, but no rabbit. When she asked about it, the meat counter guy reacted as though she's asked for a nice tender roast of baby!
LOL jan, maybe she should try asking for some roast baby
Jan, I have had pet rabbits since 1983, with 4 of them now.
nothing wrong with cannibalism
but, people don't taste like chicken
well I can only recommend it Scrabbs - on the orders of the nurse at my school (silly woman) I was a meat-eater again for a while, but now back to veganism and never felt healthier. Only problem is that it can be inconvenient in restaurants!
clue for ap7 please?
I understand those with pet rabbits being off put--I doubt I could eat guinea pig in Peru.
Well, I have been awake for 3 hrs now. It is time to accomplish some of my tasks. First I must drive into town to shop.
BBL, Babble buddies.
how do you know, Lawyer? ;)
not to criticize but don't understand why rabbit but not guinea pig?
cuz I'm a lawyer!
hahahahaha
i find american palates rather unadverturous
lol!
Because I never had a pet rabbit--in fact, they're kind of pests in my neighborhood, but we did have a succession of guinea pigs when the kids were little. I have no objection to others who eat guinea pig, but I'm not sure I could myself.
ap7 please?
I think it's the other way around Shirlock - all the Americans I know seem to eat such a wide range of food from other cultures. I think they'd probably be surprised that other countries eat such a predictable menu.
oc 6/24 clue
tran
Nancy Boy, when my husband went to India for work he was warned to take a suitcase of food, because "the food over there isn't very good".
really, Nancy Boy? I live in NYC and there are lots of people here who do "ethnic" but still not beyond their usual
chicken, beef, pork
erda - ap + vowel + abbr. for what singers sing into + consonant
LOL! SamanthaJoy...that's crazy
sorry it's hard to clue
Yep. But he works in a very traditional area; don't confuse 'the Americans you know" with "most Americans". :-)
I guess you'd know better than me if you live there, Shirlock! I'm comparing it to where I'm from - always eat very trationally there
*traditionally even
Some Americans are pretty unadventurous--my mother refuses to eat anything remotely "ethnic" including fast food tacos! Others are more adventurous--though we still underutilize organ meats in this country. I feel that if you are going to eat animals, you ought to eat as much of them as possible so as not to waste the sacrifice of a being.
just commenting on this thread with rabbit v. guinea pig
Matches, plural of a sea creature with 8 tentacles
Got it, LeslieAnn -- many thanks!
I've eaten some pretty out-there things, I think. Sheep intestines on a stick in TGurkey, sea slugs in China.
what do sea slugs taste like?
jan, it doesn't get wasted. It gets put into fertilizers and dog food and things you'd never think of, but it doesn't get wasted--that wouldn't be good capitalism
just don't eat a hamburger in Iran
i have a bigger prob. with the meat industry itself -- recently saw Food Inc. -- and been trying to go more for organic because of it
ty joey got it
or into mechanically recovered meat. ew ew ew.
'cause for some reason, the western world just loves the taste of carcass.
Just like you's think--most of a texture than a flavor. An acquired taste I think.
Yep, Nancy, it's gross but it lasts forever and it's better than being hungry
clue for the bi 7 pls
yes i would think it tastes slimy. :)
Shirlock, you're so right. Mass production of animals is leading to more diseases and repulsive practices than mere killing of them.
yw
Oh, great. Now I have a phantom of "carrion"
LOL! how very topical
Here's a story about Americans and organ meat: My husband (who is British) makes a fine steak and kidney pie. We were having some guests over and asked if they'd like to try it. The wife said, "would you mind substituting for the steak? I don't mind the kidney beans, of course." !
my phantom is nicotine
haha best not to explain that to her then jan
Mine is cioppino
v. funny, jan
Oh, jan, that is hilarious!!
We ended up making a cauliflower and cheese pie instead.
Did you clue her in, or just quietly change plans and move on?
Nah, we figured if the steak grossed her out, the idea that we might have included kidneys would have been beyond the pale.
or the pail.
;-)
haha jbp
See, I *am* beyond the pale--I would have offered to make her spotted dick instead
oh my
yeah, but theres no meat there.
If she leapt to the conclusion that all kidneys are beans, I would have left her to draw her own conclusions!
Could be suet though. (In fact, there should be, in my culinary opinion.)
Isn't that kind of the definition? It's a suet pudding?
True, but nowadays a lot of people substitute vegetable shortening. Which doesn't rally substitute that well, because it melts at a lower temperature and makes the pudding too hard and dense.
i had a date like that once. ;-)
Hard? Dense? Vegetable-like?
spotted dick?
hee
I know about these things because I have a Brit hubby who likes his puddings every now and then and a vegetarian daughter, so for years we substituted.
If his name was Mike and he propositioned the waitress, I had the same date.
hahaha
lol
who wants to clue me the bottom row N?
and SamJoy, I *love* your icon!
i just have one - ni + dad
Oh thank you!
thanks LA!
bottom n -
Not to change the subject, but is this grid as hard as I think it is?
sorry; Meeko the cat is typing again
n + 3 vowels ; babblet
it is really hard for me, i listed way earlier than usual
I think it is Jan
with nbt, i'm off to deal with some wicked dogs.
Yes, it's actually a bear
hi meeko!
go up the grid on that n word
thanks for the clues, and the entertainment!
Good to know--I have 38 left and think it is time to hit the list.
bye jbp

omg cio you are brave and do you do house calls???
rofl Joanne; I barely get my stuff done; sorry :( lol
shoot
Judy....used to iron ruffled curtains for hours..redecorated...no ruffles lol
lol SS; I probably wouldn't have to iron these but Meeko the cat decided to lie down on them and wrinkled the hell out of them
had new windows put in this week; washed them yesterday and now putting up the clean curtains in the kitchen
thats what they make dryers for
meeko is quite the troublemaker
who does that anymore..i just throw out the old and buy new again..to me that is easier
right now Meeko is purring away on my shoulder
girl scout patches are the only thing i iron, thats because i hate sewing more than i hate ironing
ROFLMAO Joanne
Meeko appears to be a Jekyl and Hyde today LOL
hehe cio..i change colors like no tomorrow
Oh Good, I remember sewin all those GS patches
I sewed them too SS still have my "sash"
tho i have been good lately since buying another house..can't afford it
thought i was done, daughter went to college and came home with a patch to sew on her lab coat, maybe I am done now
lab coat sea??
what did she become?
RN
nice
good for her
bravo SS; we need so many more like her
I think the worst was when she came home and asked me to make her a poodle skirt in one day, hadn't really constructed clothing for 30 years, now that was a challenge
i bet you are proud of her
very Joanne, she works in geriatrics, which I will need soon lol
well then it was perfect all around

the garden is rapidly greening up and flowering. Did a lot of work and it's paying off but still needs more work and some annuals to fill in the holes!

Nah, you're not that old, Pini. Neither am I. It's just a silly little TV factoid that stuck in my brain.

I think everyone had one hairstyle that they -hated- as a kid...
(and a bow - tie)
my brother's had bowl cuts, too, NB; you are not alone
did you have Buddy Holly glasses ruru?
no.. not as a kid..
I was given a pixie cut...I absolutely hated it...after it grew out, never had short hair again!
My mother used to cut my hair. I still have the school pictures to haunt me.
I didn't wear glasses until I was thirty
Grandmother used to give all the kids home perms...she was not a beautician!
Big gap between my two front teeth (pre-braces), and bangs that were so uneven, they might as well have been chewed off by rats.
I held on glasses 'til 47!
rofl judi
gads, we have some war stories here!!!!
Then, there was the year my mother decided to give me a "shag cut". *shudder*
you could have dated David Letterman along with everyone else judi?
I'd have traded that for the lucille ball frizzy bang do that my mother gave me, judi
BBL. Time to shop.
I thought my perms were bad, but my cousins were worse, she was a redhead and hers turned out frizzy
I have only gotten two words in ten minutes...ugh!
want a clue, ru?
not good sea...
I tried a perm in HS...failed miserably... (turned out I paid for nothing, cuz that's what it did)
I don't have the list yet pini..haven't any idea about what I need
ok...so thro a few obscure ones out?
one of my cousins really admires Jim Morrison and tried to grow his hair to be like Jim's...it didn't work; his hair just grew straight up. More Marge Simpson than effortless sex god...
no, but now we look back and laugh...our Grandmother passed away last July at 99 1/2 but we still have all those memories
ROFL, NB!

I came highly recommended? LOL
lol! yes, very ;) so good to meet you! how are you?
I'm very well, thank you! You too??
I'm regretting already, having started this grid!!
oh yes - despite the fact that I'm skipping out to work in a few minutes! in fact, I should probably get changed - don't think they'll appreciate me turning up wearing a dressing gown ;)
Probably not, LOL!
never know ;) so sorry to hop in and out! good to have finally spoken to you though!
It's okay, don't be late for work!!
Nice meeting you!
thanks - nice meeting you too! good luck; this grid is HORRIBLE!
It is!!
Thanks, I'll need all the luck I can get, LOL!
Hi Shivs - my sister is also called Siobhan
Hiya PinnyPoppins! Is your family Irish as well?
I like your life story!
Yup - my dad is from Dublin
You do? LOL, nothing too exciting there!
The whole marriage-divorce-remarriage is cool
My mum's from Dublin, dad was from Thurles in Co. Tipperary.
You new to Babble?
I'm hoping, hope I'm doing the right thing, LOL!!
Fairly so, joined a few months ago.
Well nice to meet you
You too!
This grid is a killer, isn't it? Or is it just me??
Hello all. Yes, I agree, this is a toughie.
It's a revolting grid
I was able to play yesterday, and saw a lot of complaints about that grid, but it didn't seem too bad to me. This one, however....
I'm monkeying words such as you couldn't imagine, LOL. Only my twisted little mind could invent some of what I'm typing in! Desperate times call for desperate measures? LOL
Glad it isn't just me then, gwenski! LOL
But on the positive side, I'm more than 2/3rds done!
hello
Hello!
alas...I'm down to the last Dirty Dozen!
How have you done it, gwenski? I'll never get that far!!
me too MP!
34 left for me
Only 26 found, hopelessly struggling!!
pini...this was a weird one....
I'm not blonde for nothing?
:)
just let your monkeys do the typing!
come on shivs us blondes can pull it out if we all stick together *grin*
My monkeys have abandoned me!! LOL
pini I have blonde monkeys!
* giggle *
Send some over here, MPittore!
Shivs...just pound on the keyboard; something's bound to work!
Or you can always request clues!
sending a few blonde monkeys over to help shivs
I've been doing that, Pinikula ... with my head, LOL!
* giggle *
po6/21 ?
I have to agree this grids been a bi5/18!
Disclaimer: Even though I suggested asking for clues, I may not be able to help!
I'll 3rd that (or whatever number I am in line)
Oh thank you, MPittore! I didn't even see that!! LOL
That's probably because I'm too nice and don't use such language. ;oP
that same ending is used on the pa7
Need clues????....ask away oh gridders.....
At the moment, i could help with po7, but not po6
po7 = extended porch with columns
clue for oc 6/21
pini did you mean the ending for the pa8/55?
I need clues for everything!
Pini, I meant, I would be able to provide a clue for po7, but not po6. But I'm sure someone else benefited!
oc6/21 = oc + anagram of prison upheavel
oh, sorry, gwenski...misread
hello all
help with either of the ca6 pls
ca6 = truman ca****
ca6 = ca + a tr*** of indians
Put your suitcases in a ca6 carrier (on the roof)
thanks so much, Pini. How are you?
Thank you Pini, that helped!
a bit tired, but present and accounted for
ty, gwenski
Pini, do you still play Scramble?
brb
not so much anymore, peri...been playing quite a bit of lex though
I play that! Scrabble on Lexulous??
Random: Not a big fan of the Pirates of Caribbean movies, but really like listening to the soundtrack while the movie playing in the other room.
yes, shivs
I agree, gwenski ;)
We should play sometime?
If I can remember my sign in for there, LOL!!
sure thing! anytime ;)
ROFL
I'm going to try and see if I can!
kk
ok, dont like Lexulos, too much like Scrable and I am not good at that
oh it is scrabble, anyway not very good at it
ca7 pls
peri, I'll play scramble, just have to send me a kick in the butt!
ok, i will start a game, Pini
;)
Will wonders never cease? I'm in, LOL!
and I will send you a kick in the butt if you don't keep up Pini :-)
ro5/14?
wtg shivs!
What's your name on there, Pini?
Lexulous on Facebook is better -- more features -- hi all!
Mine is same as here, but without a space.
Hiya, Jilli!!
hi jilli (hit me up a game)
let me jump over shivs
Good to see you back, Shivs!
I don't play on there. My Facebook is only for connecting with my university alumni, I keep it stricly for that.
I know -- too bad.
I wouldn't have it at all, except they were all on there!
same name, no space?
Not too bad ... I can't stand Facebook, too busy!
Right, Pinikula.
Pini, first ro5/14 is a bug
But playing Lex there is quite separate
How do I add you there? Same name as well??
Oh I don't know, I never go there! LOL
wait...where am I logging in?
I play Lexulous on their web site, or through e mail which seems to work better with everyone so busy!
On www.lexulous.com ??
any help for the ca7 pls
oooooh, I get it now...I play Lex through FB...
I'm on there now, wondering how to add you?
beta ca*****
ty Pini, dear
on where? FB or Lex?
Oh nm, the same name has worked!
I've done that too, shivs, but as I said, on FB there are more features. You can take your time, too.
Anyway, I'd better get on with this beast --17 left
That's why I like email games!
git'r dun, jilli (9 to go here)
If you play Lexulous through Facebook, can't you play a game with someone who's signed into the Lexulous web site? I bet you can!!
unfortunately, no, shivs
ok, I'm on Lex...where are you?
I have 79 left, LOL! Think I might as well give up??
nah, you can dooooooooooooo it!
33 left snd struggling even with the list
I'm on Lex too ... are we having a game now? I'll go to a room. How about The Lounge?
No I can't doooooooooooooo it!! :oP
25 here
I'm hopelessly blonde! LOL
do want a game now or should we start an email version?
3 left....chuga chuga chug....
Shivs, if you go to FB you can get the little blue Lex icon and click on it to go to the game. It's a totally different site from the web page
shivs...started an email game...(never done that before - this is a first)
No, I avoid signing into there like the plague, LOL. Get hit with too much rubbish every time I do!! I'm on the Lexulous site already, gone into the lounge.
although I suppose you can only have games with your FB friends -- I wonder.
shivs, the lounge is full, won't let me in
true, jilli...
yes Lexulous in FB allows you to limit to friends, and remove from the general search there. {poof for real}
oh, wait...no, you can play with anyone...they don't need to be your "friend"
hi/bye dc! (yeah, what dc said)
OK, I give up! But it has a progress graph, and a place for notes, et etc which the email site didn't have last time I looked.
hi/bye dc!
I like playing via FB
Oh? Maybe I should make a separate account on there, so I don't have to sign into the one I have where I'm hit with too much junk each time I sign in, LOL!!
Me too -- are you Pini there?
I'm in The Lounge on the Lexulous web site, Pini. I don't see you there??
shivs, you can limit your "junk" mail in FB by changing your privacy settings
you betcha, jilli!
shivs, the lounge is full..it won't let me in (but I did start an email game for ya)
Good idea, Shivs! There's a grop up called Babblers Worldwide on FB.
(used the email addy in your babble profile)
It isn't mail I'm talking about! It's all those silly things friends send at you, expecting you to accept and return!! Gets mighty annoying!
Oh no, LOL. Better to use my google email!
you can HIDE all of those shivs!
I almost never check my Yahoo! mail, LOL.
I just ignore them, shivs
you don't ever have to see 'em if you don't want to!
I don't know, I never have time to go through all the settings there!! I am too busy to be online much as is!
well, once you hide one hit from a game (like farmville), it hids all of them and blocks future ones
Hello again. My mother is talking at me on the phone so I will find words.
I went back on Myspace and sent an invite, Jilli.

peri, have you bought a car yet?
hi scrabs ;)
Hiya Scrabbler, I'm struggling to find one more word because I have 79 and it's not an even number, LOL!
hello scrabbler. my true babble friend.
Shivs, I already accepted on MySpace -- thanks.
Ah, yes, you are my OCD-numbers friend.
How have you been today, Owl?
Okay, good Jilli!
need help with ca 7/32 Please
Shivs, do you have the bad bug, cock ro5?
beta ca*****
TY, Gwen
I do now, gwenski! Thanks!
or auto + vowel + metal can

Thank you, thank you!
i am sleepy. just back from lunch with a friend - at wegman's!
We love our Wegmans here in Buffalo!!
Lurking fireworks - Happy babbling all
wtg met ;)
Yay MetFan!
she found it ovverwhelming
What's a Wegmans?
i am worrying about her, she makes me look like a social butterfly!
One of my sisters is like that--does not like the immenseness of Wegmans. i love it--feels like going on a trip.
WTG, MetFan! Don't know how some of you do it, with grids like this!!
pardon me, only have one ro5 and making it po 5 does not work
What is Wegmans?
Wegmans = great supermarket started in Rochester, NY, then spread to here, Buffalo, now all over Northeast.
thanks for ca 7. how about bi 7/48? Any clue please
well as i explaned to her, if you skip the fancy and organic stuff and the hard goods it is quite compact
***graphy + potato ****
Oh and they have a deli or lunch counter?
Then TO you must not have the cock ro5. Because the rhyming po 5 is a method of cooking
Wegmans has the best produce dept, a Market Cafe with food stations---pizza, wings, Chinese, salad bar, subs, pasta, etc
I did find those, amazingly! LOL
po6/21??
and you sit on a balcony aboe the store to eat - quite peaceful. had a sandwich, ot my isial fare but deliccious on wheat roll
I'm still sitting in The Lounge, Pini. Suppose I should leave there? LOL

Pertussis or atypical pneumonia?

pertussis

The "100-day cough".
Would you give a hint as to that bi 7, TO?
NOOOOOOOO... book says 6 weeks, and I refuse to accept longer
Yes please, for me too? LOL

I have seen pertussis in kids--bad cough, long recovery EVEN with AB tx
gwen: i definitely DO NOT have any ro5s
thank you, Pink
I did take azithromax... but only for 5 days
LOL -- that's a really good thing, TO
I need the 2nd one, kateq (ro5/14)
Thanks! That would never have occured to me!!
uh oh... you know you are in toruebl when you get the list and still cannot find the words.

they say 2 weeks
pa7 = golf score + vowel + *** toc goes the clock

that happens to me a lot, Temple Owl!
So, extend the tx, kje
I haven't gone to the list yet, probably should!
pini change the second vowel to the cross letter
usually, z-pack is 5 days, but for pertussis, they recommend longer... but i have been off it for a week, so see no reason to start now, the cat is out of the bag
thx wild!
the literature says there is no point in treating late pertussis.... so I will suffer... but ONLY for 6 weeks!
yw
Thanks again Pini, big help!!
still looking for po6/21
If I recall, it doesn't shorten recovery so much as make one less contagious. I got a Tdap last yr--we have been giving to all kids > 10 for a few years.
scrabs i thought of you while in wegman;s , i do every time i see annie's food productd. it's the bunnies!

WTG, Inge!
I have been PPD positive since med school, i get yearly CXR
i would jump out a window if i coughed that long
Sehr gut, Freundin Inge! Ausgezeichnet!
Sounds a rough go, kje, hope you feel much better soon!!
yayayaya inge
Babies with pertussis can get pneumonia + seizures.
4 to go...
yes, much worse in kids... adults mostly annoying and occ hemorrhages form coughing
The Amish out here do not vaccinate, so there are yearly pertussis outbreaks.

Hi mrpresident! How are you doing? Welcome to grid!
I attended a dog parade with my dog and my sister's dog. We only saw pa 4/5 of the parade since we got there late. I'm surprised my sister's dog didn't cause a ri 4/4 and bi 4/6 anyone in the cro 5/14.She is a ti 4/6 dog,but can be feisty. She's a bi5/18 sometimes. Sometimes she can have a big ch 4/6 on her shoulder At times I want to just ch4/7 off her mouth because she barks a lot. The po5/12 that I am trying to make is that she's a great dog,but she's a pain sometimes. Anyway, I wanted to push her in a ca 4/5 during the parade, but she would not stay in it. She and my dog tr 4/4ed along with all of the other dogs. My sister's dog doesn't like to goto other places much. She likes to say inside a ho 4/8 house. I in5/10duced the dogs to many people. I do not think she liked it there. She was it 4/6ing to leave and hell be 4/6 on going home. Jack, the dog that's mi4/5, loved the parade. He was not impa4/6ed by it much. There were vendors there so I bought some na5/14s.After the parade we went in4/4 a diner to eat lunch. Now I'm going to go in 4/4 the kitchen to make dinner. I will be here off and on to clue for the rest of the ni4/4.Hope this helped out

bi + vowel + chocolate **** cookies
The bi 7/48 word is bi*logy plus a ch 4/7 word bichon
I am stunned, as I am sure you were....enough said here.
yup... even now still a bit numb... 8 days down the road.
this is a tough little grid, eh?
It is a bi5/18.
i'm down to 16 with no list (but cribbed a bunch of nice clues on and off during the day)
25 left for me
ty for the bi7
po7 anyone
po7 - fancy front porch
a covered entrance, Scrabs
my last house had no garage, but at least it had a po7
does anybody here play kenken?
Hm, is it Spanish?
si
Is that the math/logic game?
not starboard + puerto R*** is a lovely island
I don't know much Spanish
Aha, I should have seen that. TY, Doren.
de nada
I don't know much about it, I just got an iPod and I'm thinking of buying it, because it's by Will Shortz
60 Minutes is now discussing the impending earthquake in San Francisco.
I find it too frustrating, Jane
oh goodness. maybe i don't want to see that... impending as in the old san andreas fault or is there something new now?
I have many Will Shortz books--brain games, crosswords, etc
he is a word whiz.... the master, to be sure.
My husband knows Will Shortz from puzzle contests
Several faults, highly populated, at-risk bridges, and a big one is "due"
due? ominous... any prediction as to when? (just got my ticket to SF airport August 20th)
Overdue, but unknown when
hmmmmmmm.
Because of several recent earthquakes (Haiti, China, Chile) there is focus on the SF area.
pa8 please
well, that does make sense, doesn't it?
The tectonic plates are always active. Scary.
I go to SF every few months. Do I have to worry?
Of course, Bichon. A big quake there will be devastating.
pa8... starts like the squacking bird, ends with what mosquitos make you do
TY, Doren. New word for me.
Bichon, I am not being an alarmist but a realist.
well, worryiing won't really help bichon, but be aware. (scrabs this grid is loaded with new words for me)
lots of new words for me too, Dorens
hello all
hi peri
Hi Peri
my son has lived there since '91 and no quake
well, if these words are new for peri, scrabs and dorens, these are some interesting words!!
It's a gamble, just like living in the midwest (tornados), the southeast coast (hurricanes), etc
and driving on the jersey turnpike!
Is or5 a common word?
They live near the San Andreas fault too.
LOL Dorens, I have been on that road!
The pa8/55 word is pa 4/5 plus it 4/6 word Scrabbler
Yikes, Bichon.
i hope not scrabs.. it's one my remaining five
An or 5/14 is anagram of the ro 5/14 word Scrabbler.
ty min... i've seen that one before
yw
TY. Yes, I have seen it before, just never used it in a sentence.
Is or6 related?
down to two. boths c's .. a 6 and a 7
no. but you would be smacked with fish cooked in chinese, thai or japanese fashion!
I am going in reverse alphabetical order. On or6 now.
bbs
origami....hm, ???
Scrabs, we live in the Occident
What's that, Bichon?
the opposite of the Occident is the or 6
pa 7/36?
I don't know what Occident means.
The Western world is the Occident
pa + neu*****, as in crazy
OK, I got or6 but never heard of occident ever before. How can that be? I must have missed that class in 6th grade?
ty lbd
You were too focused on getting into med school <ggg>
I was/am a math/science geek, for sure.
When I went to schol there was a much heavier emphasis on Geography than now
So, I bought a game for my iPod, it supposedly is on the ipod but I can't find it. Can someone give me a hint?
I have never done that with my iPod, Jane, so I cannot help.
jog-grafy, i liked that in school.
Go to Menu.
hi all
I did too, and still do, but never heard of occident. I am so puzzled about that.
Hi Pini

for assistance, open Lickety's List (below the tile stats) for a list of all of the words (first 2 letters, number of letters in the word, and word value)
ar + elbow j****
Firewords!
wtg jae!
yeah, that confused me more than anything
oh, sorry, zesty...
Thanks, Pini.
yay jae!!!
dont mind me, ill figure it out, enjoy yourselves
Ty all.
ZeStY, below the 2 grids on the left is a "Friends of babble list. There are 2 sites there to try: Licketys Babble Clues and AngelSongs Babble page
if you've ever played Boggle, it's very similar to that...simply make words using the letters connecting in consecutive order (any direction)
former tangleword junkie
then you should be a shoe-in...lots of former T players here
but what do the friends of sites do?
when people ask for a clue (i.e., bi4/6), they're probably getting the hint from Lickety's list
im sorry guys, i used to hate ppl that asked easy ? s like this... im just having trouble with this set up for some reason, so ty for dealing with me
Licketys Page give you a list of the first 2 letters of the words and their counts and scores (ap 7/40 (for ex)
the BI are the first two letters, the first number is the number of letters (in this case 4), the number after is the po5 value (in this case 6)
no need to feel awkward, zesty...we all started out the same way...ask away!
but AngelSongs Babble page helps explain things better and gives the A toZ lists for 4, 5, 6, letter words (if you need that
but AngelSongs Babble page helps explain things better and gives the A toZ lists for 4, 5, 6, letter words (if you need that
oh geez!
co 6/21 (either)?
so, basically, just start finding what words you can; you'll learn the rest as you go along!
Hey, we like new meat here! ;-) Err, I mean new addicts
okay, what happens when i just cant find anymore words, (cause at this point, i'm going on my own w no help)
lmao nef
co6 = co**** Feldman (tv)
that's where Lickety's Babble Clues come in handy, zesty....open the list in a different window and follow the directions (not as hard as it may seem)
the second co6 = apple ***e + metal can
We are a friendly bunch , ZeStY.
Got them, thanks!
well done, jellen ;)
k pink, ill try, the charts confuse me lol, you guys def are Nef. im glad i found you all
assimilation is inevitable; resistance is futile! :)
what's nef?
hi ru ;)
Don't sweat the small stuff, ZeStY.
hi pini.. all done?
yes, sir ;)
ruru, I'm confusing ZeStY. You know that's nothing new
Hi, ruru
oh..
hi jellen.
you, ru?
u guys crack me up =). k, sry again, but the babble help thing- its confusing the crap out of me- i dont get how to work it
you have it open, zesty?
yup.. thankfully
ps never felt so dumb in my life, yes i have lickety open
if so, copy the list of words you've found under "my word list" and paste them in the large box at the bottom of lickety's list, press Bulk Add
lickety give you the first two letters and the total points.
oc 6/24, please?
don't feel dumb!
or + most of a pain
oc6 = lots of the 8-legged swimmers
o...oops
they have sea gardens jellen
and tentacles
Thanks, Pini and ruru...needed that, too!
then what pink?
and 8 legs
oops, sry, pini
just shoot me =(
(bang)
haha grrr
when you press Bulk Add, the list will populate with the words you've already found...then just look at the hints that are still blank...ask away!
ZeStY, do you have ANY words entered yet in your word list?
30
only 83 to go
lol haha thanks ruru
git r dun zesty
yeah, ru's one of our resident funnymen! * giggle *
YAY!! Copy and paste them into the Bulk Add box (WAY down at the Bottom of Licketys list) and then it should give you hints of what you do and don't have
how bout i root for you instead?
?? what? me ... funny? who...me?
Oh. The grid changes once every 24 hours, at 12 MN CST
yeah, you, ru! LOL
nef- pini helped me do that, but im still lost after it thanks anyways though... the chart thing confuses the crap out of me lol
did your words go into the list, zesty? if so, pick a word that is still blank and let us know what the stats for it say; we'll give you a clue for it
pa 7/36?
nothing is blank its all 2 letters on the left
pa + hook + patr****
those should be there, zesty...there should be a blank to the right of each where your word will go (if you have it or when you get it)
okay, I just hit half way and did the same thing with my list. I'm still missing the bottom ro4/4 on that list, so I need to look for another ro 4 letter word where each letter is worth only 1 point and it has to follow the word above it
Nef, you'd better get to work! :)
Not getting it....
oh, sorry, jellen...pa + hook + I am very patri****
Pini, i just got here shortly befor 10 for the first time today. I'm trying! I know: git'r done! :-)
where do i type the words in?
(better?)
Got it, thanks!
type your words into the Add Word box in the babble screen; you'll need to copy/paste occasionally to update Lickety's list
it wont add my words
did you paste a copy of your list into the large box at the bottom of Lickety's List and press Bulk Add?
im cursed with this game !!! GRRRR
yes, i did just as you said, but when i type words in at the top, even clicking add word, nada happens
you're doing great, zesty...patience is a virtue!
Way, WAY, WAY down at the bottom of lickety's page there are 2 bxes,
2 left...
you can do it!
lol and ty for yours
git'r dun, Jellen!
not at all, zesty!
Go, Jellen! You can do it!
i dont have enough beer for this shit!!
er sry, stuff?
well, after today's grid, I'm sure none of us do either! LOL
Zesty, add words to this page, then C&P into that box on Licketys page (it's the top of the 2 boxes at the BOTTOM of that page
ty i will
ty both Nef and Pini, i'm naming you both "coach"
* giggle *

"we try, zesty. sometimes we succeed, sometimes ruru makes more sense! ;-)" was not found in the dictionary
(I'm always chatting in the wrong box as you can see)
May I please have a clue for to5-12? Thanks
nef, you nut! :)
****graphy + "eye"
or to + hawaiian food
what can I say? I USUALLY C&P just the thing I put in the wrong place
Good evening all, I need a clue for ap7 and bi6/24, please
Nef, you make me giggle! :)
Thanks much, Pini.
hi marc ;)
Hi Pink
ap + at**** bomb + cross
ap7: a + (many **ems rhyme) + (swing and a **ss!) + Hollywood a**or
hi grem
I just copied my own clue from yesterday
hi
you done good, Gremlin! :-)
"bi6 = ***graphy + *** toc goes the clock" -- Pinikula
Hi Mark
hey, I remember that one, grem! :)
figured it would be easier to open the archive and search for "bi6" in the browser
smarty!
Thanks gremlinn but the bi clue was for bi6/27 not bi6/24?
(dog's gotta "help" now. seems to need some attention)
***graphy + metal can
Hi Nef
Ah, change the last letter
thanks Pink got it.
;)
bi 6/27 is a medicine that cures: Antibi****
* wonders if zesty's coming back with beer for all *
I hope so (even if I don't drink the stuff). I'd use it to activate my compost pile
Fireworks!
wtg jellen!
YAY, Jellen!!! WTG!!!!
I don't drink it either, nef, but sounded good ;)
Congrats, Jellen!!!!!
hello everyone -- grats, jellen
hi nan
Thank you Zesty for asking the questions about how to understand babblese! I had been wondering the same thing. Thank you to Nef, Pink and all the rest of you for the instructions on how to use Lickety. I now know what I am doing for the first time since I started playing this game!
did you finish pini?
add some sugar and mix it and the beer together, put on your compost and boy does the bacteria get happy and you get good black dirt! :-)
yeah, fuzzy!!! glad to have helped! :)
Hi, nan and fuzzybunny
I did, nan ;)
I'll have to remember that, Nef ;)
oh, and welcome aboard, fuzzy
some new players, I see --- welcom fuzzy and zesty
Thanks, I have been an avid boggle/wordsplay fan for a long time and heard about babble from players over there.
hi nan and fuzzy. Don't be afraid to ask questions, fuzzy. We all have to learn someday
that's how I heard about it
glad to have you, fuzzy
Glad to be here! You are all very helpful and friendly. How do you get an avatar and profile?
you turn pro (by paying a one-time lifetime membership fee)
But no need to rush into that - I think you get 2 weeks with all the features, and after that it just hides some of the clues unless you upgrade
(your fireworks go away after the first 2-wks, going pro lets you have 'em forever)
So, for around $15.00, you can look good like us! ;-)
Will have to wait until tomorrow, it is getting late and I get up at 6. See you all tomorrow. Thanks so much for the help tonight.
gee, right to the po5, nef! LOL
take care, fuzzy...come again soon!
Night
good night fuzzy
nan, did you finish?
HI all <waves>
hi tanja
yes -- just after you left this morning
I've been away from the game for most of the week, Pini. Sorry for being too blunt! :-P
oh, sorry to have missed your sparklers!
hi tanja
not blunt at all, nef...I just thought the cut to the chase was cute! :)
hi Tanja. I just leaned all about ANZAC Day this weekend
off for 45 minutes with my book before the flip :) bbl
cya soon, nan
Pini, I'm just being weird tonight. Trying to finish the grid; but wanting to chat more. DH has had a relapse in his MS and is on high-dose steroids; I think I'm acting like *I'm* the one on the steroids!
yes big weekend here in australia - the kids are all sleeping between the four of them they all did a night vigil then a dawn service each then 2 day services and finished a dusk service - lots os sleeping today:)
May I please have a clue for ro5-14 the 2nd? Thannks
oh my, sorry to hear, nef...you're not being weird at all, it's more cute/fun than anything! You're definitely making me grin! :)
and this is a horrible gridI am only halfway
c***** rocket (motorcycle)
it is, tanja
wow tanja...quiet little ones now?
and, nef, I do hope it turns around some and he feels better...
clue for the bi7 please
I don't know what the correct saying would be for ANZAC Day, Tanja. But I think it's important that no one forget what it's a;; about.
auto***graphy + potato ****s and dip
the most common words used are "lest we forget: and "we shall remember them"
Pini, he's doing better; that's why I have time to Babble. Steroids are wonderful but the steroid high effect is unbelieveable internally.
thanks, Tanja. We shall remember them for sure
* wince * still hope it does good; glad you have some time to rest (although not sure babble is rest)
LOL! I take whatever breaks I can from the stress, Pini. Babble is a good break
* smile *
:-D
Pini, was the clue for ro5-14 the 2nd the one about motorcycle?
yes, ga
Thenks dear heart.
ty cyberann if ur still here
yw
wb zesty
tyvm pini but i still dont have enough beer lol
well, we're here for ya ;)
it helps me get creative words =)`
creative is an understatement!
you'll be amazed at your vocabulary will improve!
er, at how
ok bi4,6
whatever that means...
Nef, sorry to have broken into your conversation earlier....do you or someone close to you need energy? (Prayer)
4 letter word starting with bi (worth 6 points)
hmmmm
bi4/6 = bi** me!
yup got that
ac5,12
so the b = 3 points, the other 3 letters are 1 point each = 6 total
ah gotcha ty
ac5 = stage player
huh?
ac5 = hollywood person
Sandra Bullock and Tom Cruise are ac***s
geez im slow
in7 please
Sorry ga, I wandered off for some water and then to look at the moon (it's very pretty tonight). Prayer is a very powerful thing and yes, my DH could use some (I don't know anyone who doesn't)
in5 + you can do **
ty pini, still need another ac5
ac + metal can
lmao ty pini, i need to learn to speak "chatterbox"
in time, zesty :)

jellen did awhile back...she got 'em!!
wow
how bout ao6, 21
want one more piece of info, zesty?
lol sure
I'm sending....yes, we all do need it. My best to all of you....I will continue praying.
ao + hook letter + *** toc goes the clock
to break down the value of a word: 4 ltr words are worth the combine value of the tiles; 5 ltrs are the same x 2; 6 ltrs x 3, etc...
thanks, ga. I appreciate it
but you needn't worry too much about that now...just didn't want you to think your math skills were too far off when you started looking at values!
from here, too, Nef!
pini how do you know all of this???
r u the babble god? lol
been playing for awhile?
gads, not even close, zesty!!!
pffft
I just type fast?
ha nah
Thanks Pini. This site is amazing; so many people are encouraging and caring here!
we have a few here who can finish a grid within minutes after the flip! I am NOT one of them!
brb, then you can tell me the truth lol
just in to change icon
sometimes I think Babble Family is more than just a group of online chatters/gamers
hi flosey
Zesty, she finished the grid! She has time! ;-)
hi Pini, bbl
You are so right pini.
hi flosey
Pini.
yes?
(jammie time)
I think that that is the truth, Pini. I've found 2 sites on the web where people seem more like family than just chatters and gamers
Oh, I had not given your name a cap P.
giving up for today on this puzzle shall just wait for the next one - my shoulder is sore
(but the other site is a small private nursing bulletin board; so we are connected by our work. Babble is unique that wya
What did you do to your shoulder, Tanja?
Has anyone heard from jilli or jcm today?
I haven't been here much this past week, ga; so I haven't seen them
I haven't today...saw them yesterday
OK, thanks, Nef.
