Actually, next year is looking good. There is a program called Engliyada, where Clevelanders volunteer in Beit She'an to teach ESL. I had heard tho, that they were only taking persons under 45. That's good to know. It's pretty intense, 5-8 pm 5 or 6 nights a week plus class prep. They do take us on day trips, tho, from time to time. I may try to stay beyond the tutoring time. Since I will no longer have a kid's schol schedule to work around, things bevome much more doable. My neighbor is from a moshav called Tirosh - her parents came from Morocco - and we've talked about bumming around together.

saturday morning before Pentecost is something called 'lazybones' in dutch... children get up very early and go out to make lots of noise and wake up people. Used to be rather innocent fun.
but now lots of older children do damage to houses, cars etc. So the school my daughter goes to has a round-the-clock watch in shifts of 2 hours, all through the night.
Pentecost is not noticed here.
hubby was on for 2 am - 4 am... and Caya insisted on coming too! They also took Terra. And then... my crazy husband allowed Caya to take Terra to bed with her, lol.
I guess that's against the rules?
for me it is the hardest Christian celebration to get the feeling of. Even a pastor I know cannot explain clearly what is being celebrated then... lol.

Gah I keep getting a fax machine calling on my landline at all times of day and night but as the number is withheld I can't do anything about it.

It's shocking! They're currently on something like £180 an hour for consultation on criminal cases (this from the public purse, through legal aid). The Justice Minister has told them to 'Get real'. They didn't like it.
i once did IT support at a law firm. The top-billing lawyer in that office got $600/hr.
There is a gardener cutting the grass in the churchyard and the smell of the freshly mown grass is wafting in through the window :)
The only thing is, if they do go on strike, their banners will either be beautifully produced or have so much legalese on them that no-one will understand them.

Our is the end of a creek and collects stormwater from the area around it before flowing into the Bay, so the water is a bit salty when the tide comes in and flows up the canal. Get the odd canoeist as well not that they can go up very far

I had some sun flowers growing as a result of seeds from the bird feeders but the pigeons have pecked them to death.
I tried transplanting the sunflower sprouts from under the feeder, but they didn't take, maye because of the cold....

I made the mistake a few weeks ago of standing in the supermarket queue behind a woman who had decided to either shop for an army or to buy up every bargain in the place. 150 items. And I had to restrain myself from tidying up the stuff as she put it on the conveyor. No grouping of items at all, one big mess of stuff.
I have plenty of cupboards, but can only use the bottom 2 shelves because I'm so short!

Junior and senior prom, though they are both juniors....the location this year was beautiful -- a country club sort of place, right on Quincy Harbor, with a huge balcony overlooking the water. They had amazing, warm weather, so it was great. I was glad they went in the limo, as I knew they would be safe driving that way.
and primo still isn't home yet, so I would say, uh, yeah, he had fun!

Hi everybody :) My skin story is that I have chronic psoriasis. I look like something out of a leper colony. Sat out in the sun all day, and have got relief for 1st time in months.
and I had to wrap zinc bandages round my foot for months afterwards. I hate those thigns with a passion!
