well would you look at that american rump shaking it's tail feather from the top left corner
based on what i saw at the Olympics opening ceremony it could be a Canadian indian?
were they shaking their he6/21s?
think that was part of the dancing
all i know is we don't really have he6/21s in oz; we have rumps, butts, buns, bums and tushes, but no he6/21s
morning all
I think he6 might be Yiddish.
Hi sprite!
yummy for the choclit cake!
sprite -- what was your huge engine? I missed it but see it (small) in your icon. I see your pretty puppy-flower when I click on it.
Yes, I'm hoping for a slice!
hold on, I may be able to get the text back
jilli, email sent with the old text
oh, thanks!
Very interesting!
thanks :) You should get the icon itself too, I had it still on my hard disk.
Yes, just got it! Amazing!
(Just over halfway here)
wow jilli, nice going
not really -- I've been dawdling!
lovely way to enjoy a babble, jilli
I agree -- no need to race against time here!
my idea. It is so nice to have 24 hours for a grid.
Ugh. Just saw the number of re words. :-(
lol I never see that until I am done. Great way to not become discouraged. But it was to be expected, with two re-s in the grid.
Hello sprite and jilli, and anyone else out there
hello Douglas
greetings, douglas
I spent some time last night helping my 16yos on a school paper, and my sleep-wake pattern is all mungled
still, being a good father is worth it?
And to add insult to mungling, 16yos said my not having read Frankenstein was "an appalling travesty"
nice word, mungled :)
16 yos know everything.
Making the effort is worth it, yes
just give the kid a list of books yet to read to even remotely catch up with you...
Douglas, get YannMartel
I'm trying to get them to read either 1984 or Atlas Shrugged, without success as yet
Yan Martel's "What Stephen Harper is Reading" (or something like that) for him.
I believe 16yos read The Life of Pi and enjoyed it
How about Brave New World? I read it over and over again, starting at about 11.
The Stephen Harper book is a wonderful list of books to read and why.
Brave New World is still new
I did succeed two summers ago in getting my oldest daughter (now 23) to read Brave New World
" a gram is better than a damn"
my kids always want me to say what to read, because if I have the book, it is easy for them to grab, and if I have read it, they can pester me about it, lol
better a gram than a damn... indeed
Huxley kinda followed that advice later!
what I remember clearly is that neon sign... hell is here!
I actually read The Doors of Perception in high school, where Huxley was writing about his drug experience
A lot of it went many miles over my head at the time
My son rather liked Swift's A Modest Proposal when he was about 16.
I loved the Picture of Dorian Grey
I don't think I got through the Doors of Perce[tion.
Amazingly, my children are aware of the character of Dorian Gray, as he was in the movie "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"
oh lol!
and I love the book Perfume, but that isn't for english lit, I think... french originally?
I saw the Dorian Gray movie decades ago -- really good, I thought at the time.
Don't know Perfume.
let me check
nope originally German
I tried reading The Portrait of Dorian Gray, but I wanted to reach into the pages and slap the smart-aleck character who was clearly the voice of Oscar Wilde. It was a zinger delivery system
Perfume, the story of a murderer. It is wonderful. It is about a man who has the perfect nose, he can smell the tiniest subtilities
but he hasn't a smell of his own, and he wants to create the perfect smell. He literally cares for nothing except that.
Hello
French
hey lady! *hugs*
Someone who was actually like that living today would be in torment, with all the different chemical smells around
subtleties?
yes! I knew it was wrong while I typed it. Subtleties. Subtiliteiten in Dutch. ;)
Hugs.
oh yes Douglas. At a certain stage in the book he goes away from all humanity, so far away from human smells as he can get.
Hello herin, we've been having a literary chat while babbling
How's today for you, lady?
Tom Tykwer the director is German Movie and Book set in Paris. Guy I lived with worked on the film
I haven't seen the film yet, is it good?
Well, 40 left and bedtime. Goodnight all!
night jilli, sleep well
I have not seen the film either. I do have the book
night Jill
zzzzzzzzzzzzz *poof*
movies made from a book I really love, I am often hesitant to go see.
have you read the book, lady? And if so, what did you think of it?
I have read a bit of it not much. I plan on reading in June Holidays
let me know! Oh won't it be lovely when you have some time for reading again?
It will be lovely. I have to look at Corp Law too :(
you are a he4
?
lol I remember how having to read for school even managed to kill my love for reading for a while. We had to know 40 books for dutch, and 20 for French, German and English each. Plus all the texts in Latin and ancient Greek. After graduation, I really didn't want to op4 another book for at least a year.
Perfume the movie is good, Perfume the book is quite something else - a fascinating read, really gets to you
thanks lyn! That is good to know, expectations might have been too high otherwise.
Good evening all
lady: a brave and valiant person
O right.
O I wish I had learnt Latin
HI Lynxx
and I am serious about that, lady, you really are. You're inspiring me with your study and the way you try and reform your life.
I have the most NOt exciting term next half. Administration Law, Corporation Law and Employment Law.
Awww SPrite Thankyou.
I also had an Idea. If your son likes I can send a USB stick of dance music
lyn, I felt the same way about the book. Absolutely fascinating and gripping.
aw lady, he would love that! Can I please compensate any costs?
Latin is a great foundation for learning languages. Not just the Latin languages either. I even benefitted from knowing Latin when I studies Japanese.
*studied
Got to nbt without assistance...whoo-hoo
gratz Douglas
lol I have 27 left and still 2 blank tiles, now you mention it.
hi Doug
Hello lynxxx, I found the bottom line to be...tricky
that is where my blank tiles are
Sprite I don't think it would cost much. Maybe what we could do is take the music of the USB and put some of his dance stuff on there and then send it back?
wonderful! I know he will enjoy compiling some for you.
I will do this in 2 weeks ok?
Just Yahoo message me your details
You do have Itunes?
whenever is good for you, dear. And can I email you? I don't have Yahoo.
no I don't have ITunes
good morning everybody
Good morning, ruby
hi rubyfoo
I mean that you can send a message to my Yahoo account. Um these are Itunes podcasts. I guess you could down load the program from itunes
Hi Ruby
I've been wondering if the word griot is in the dictionary. It's almost in the grid, and was almost in the grid a couple of days ago, with that French-friendly grid
yes no problem, and maybe my son already has ITunes on his computer.
YAh
hi Ruby
what would it mean, Douglas? In dutch it would be a kind of licorice.
Bugger I think my LIV membership has expired
wow, it's so nice to be back and see my babble friends (or amis on a French-friendly day!)
did you have a good trip, rubyfoo?
I was thinking along the lines of the west African storyteller/singer
Sprite I got your email. Just trying to beat a site into submission
it is in the dictionary and it would be valid, Douglas
lady, take all the time you need!
It worked :D
it was wonderful, but I'm still tired. Too much walking, drinking and dancing! Dare not complain, though.
Douglas, isn't griot a Haitian story-teller
great lady :)
I was thinking south African, but Google says otherwise
just take some time to recover, rubyfoo, and don't expect yourself to go into full speed at home right away. Nice and easy, relax, and enjoy all good memories.
here it would mean rather salty licorice, kite shaped, with sugar on the outside.
Sprite I got your Email
beautiful, lady. Internet rocks.
It does.
I really should cook
I must do some stuff too, BBL
what's for dinner today?
bye lyn, have a good evening
does somebody have the sh7? It is driving me bananas and I would love a clue.
No idea what is for dinner.
Later Lynxx
Don't have it, now it's driving me bananas
shared misery, Douglas
struggling for half and not getting very far, but it's a nice grid anyway
sh7/32 extend the sh5/12. And good morning all.
oh dear, so blind! Thanks Frances, and hi.
Cheers
You're welcome.
hello frances but monkeys can't find it.....
same ending as the he bottom word, rubyfoo
Hi Frances
yay, ty frances and sprite; gave the monkeys two bananas
good monkeys
Hi infernal.
You're welcome ruby.
Grayed the b in a spurt of enthusiasm, second letter grayed
B-yootifool, Douglas
8 grays, but, unfortunately, they came with.....
I have 10 left, still one blank tile!
I was actually reading legal work
And I'm making icecream.
cool, lady
what flavor, frances?
Two lots. Strawberry and raspberry.
sounds very lovely. Do you have a machine for that, Frances?
sounds wonderful -- lucky family!
Yes I do sprite. Good thing I have lots of fruit as I'm eating quite a lot.
and English cream -- what could be better?
I think I am gonna ask such a machine for my birthday. We love icecream and we love fruit.
Yummy Frances
You should sprite. Then the possibilities are endless. You can let your creativeness run ri4/4.
I'd love that :)
morning all - anyone got the sh 7 please
would it work with red or black currants or are there too many seeds?
Kazzer extend the sh5/12
hello kazzer
I use any fruit.
same ending as the he word for bottom, Kazzer
hi ruby
thnx sprite
yvw Kazzer, Frances had to help me find it
half, yay!
fireflies. Last word was the single T on the bottom.
gratz rubyfoo!
hmmm ok I was sure repost was a word, and hello everyone
I think it has an e at the end and hello
I tried that too, meliae! Sorry to be leaving just when you come in. Next time better I hope!
Wasn't expecting tr7 to be a word, was thinking of atr7, which is a phantom
Meliae change the first vowel.
I have that one thank you, though =)
gratz sprite! Well done ;) Bye all, have a grand day or a nice evening/night.
Opps. Yah SPRITEE
yay sprite! see you tomorrow
:)
Well done sprite. Enjoy your day.
oh shoot, ok Sprite we can catch up another time
see you later!
Right I better go cook dinner :(
just 1 left - te 6/21
It's often what's left when you don't get a strike, kaz
any clues on ch5,14?
ch 5/14 type of rock
c plus pain misspelled.
good morning all, just saying hi.

there are a lot of babblers in this puzzle, not all are valid words...
Top Ten is in the grid
Pleasantly surprised to get the 9 by myself
and with that, I am going to take a nap...
sorry to babble and run, but I need onemore sleep hour.
Morning Babblers ... can anyone clue the fi7 after the thing that burns please
Pleasant dreams, red
It's a compound word, Norma
can you give me more Doug please
And it has the thing that burns in it
I think I have monkeyed every combination not getting anywhere.. is it really a word ... or is it a babble word ...
Try putting fi4/7 into po4/5 *handing fish to Norma*
Thanks Doug ;o)
Over halfway, major moral victory for this grid...good night all
Clue please for sh 7/32
hi Gran...a not so nice name for a jew. Not heard much now
Just found it, thanks Lynx
yw
Hallo everyone! Glad to be babbling again. Had visitor for last few days, then no power all day yesterday until late afternoon :-( Played Babble on paper - how addicted is that!
lol Sally that is a true babbler :)
hi Sally & FM
Good evening lynxxx!
Well I think it will lead to a new addict, FM. I had printed out the grid before the power went off (planned outage) and my stepdaughter who was staying (who lives in Billingshurst!!) said, "what's that?" and started finding words and is rushing home even now and I think will sign up.
Ah another one comes into the babble family :)
Glorius sunny day here - hope you have the sun too?
I gave her a quick course on Babble etiquette!
Bit cloudy here, but warm and dry. Wet yesterday but the ground needs it.
oh yes, we had rain too but am so glad for the garden but now it is going to frazzle for the rest of the week.
But think how boring it would be to live in a country where you can plan, and know what the weather will be like!
lol and what would us Brits have left to talk about >)
:-)
phone brb.
Should have gone out and done shopping before it got too hot, ah well, will head out shortly.
ooh, really, FM? I haven't even looked outside yet..
It is a lovely day NB :)
ooh, you're right! I might have to go out and do something with it :)
lol you silly sausage. Go get some sun and fresh air.
alright, just as long as I can wear my sunglasses. Few too many G&Ts last night :)
hello again everybody! sunny but quite cool here, not so different from London LOL this weekend
oh def re the sunglasses. What time did you get to bed?
the weeds are winning the war of the garden
C'est la vie ruby.
Not -too- late; I wasn't out on the razz or anything ;) couldn't sleep for some reason though - managed to get to sleep just as the birds were starting up. And Ruby...let them eat cake ;)
but as long as you don't get too close, the roses and peonies are magnificent!
lol NB
Hi ruby!
(and NB!)
hello sally, how is your leg?
London was pretty overwhelming!
hi, all :)
fun, but I've become a country mouse
Still painful but gradually improving. Just have to give it time and rest. How was your trip? Saw your video on FB.
ohh, you've been in London? did you enjoy?
lol know what you mean ruby.
oh good, wasn't it funny? I think I was the oldest person there by far!
Was that you in the video? I wasn't sure.
It was very professionally done.
I was the old one in the fancy tunic with my very dark nephew and also one with the dog (shadow)
they hired a photographer for the wholel weekend!
whereabouts did you go?
Well there was someone looking very happy there, so I thought that might be you!
my family lives in Notting Hill on Landsdowne road, but I made the mistake of staying in Kensington.
I also took the train out to Ascot to visit a dear friend
Ah yes I do remember you asking if Kensington was far from Notting Hill! But you had already booked your hotel, and I thought you wanted to be central.
it was where my sister usually stays, but she didn't even come to the party, so I was stuck miles away
Have to smile at the ruby as that is where I lived until last November.
in Sunninghill!!!
yup
Notting Hill...very trendy ;) didn't veer close to my Soho then? ;)
my friend there has a wonderful garden with an enormous yellow azalea, like I've never seen before
Herro
You lived in Sunninghill, FM? ruby, thought you said your friend was in Surrey! Sunninghill is in Berkshire, isn't it?
I thought that where they live in Notting Hill was pretty staid and elegant
Hope you might see my garden one day, ruby. You can be a country mouse to your heart's content here.
aaah, show's my poor knowledge of England *blushing* I thought it was Surrey
Sunninghill is bershire and sunnindale is surrey - right on the cusp.
sounds good to me!
you sound like my family, Herin.
Hi herin
Probably was once, ruby. They keep moving boundaries.
hello again herin!
I don't know anything. I lived in St. John's Wood for 5 months many years agon and basically never went any place that wasn't walking distance. Don't know the city at all
England sounds so nice now. It's so humid in Connecticut
I love London, love to visit my son, and worked in London for many years. But I love to come home to sleepy Shropshire!
Nancy I have this wonderful teacher that is from errrr Asia some where He is really smart is a lawyer and a doctor gave it all up so he could be with his family and came to Aus. He always says Howevar It is so cute
hah, herin
I thought that CT had a climate much like here
CT is warm, but humid in the summer and pretty cold in the winter. Spring and Fall are delightful. By this time in Spring though, the huidity builds. We live in a river valley and the filthy air from NYC heads straight to us
any hint for the 9?
Time for me to be off. TTFN
that's a shame, bichon. We're in a valley, too, but the air is very clean except for the pollen
bye FM
bye for now FM.
ruby, the pollen here this year is unbearable. Everything has a greenish-yellow dust covering it. should be gone by mid June
it's been like that here, too, bichon, except first it was green, then yellow, then green again. I've nver seen anything like it!
we used to call the reaction to it "rose fever" but they don't call it anything here
in NY state, that is
I've had dripping sinuses since late March. But, I'm leaving for the Bay area in CA on Monday and my sinuses will stop for two weeks
nice place for a holiday!
my relatives would struggle with that...the "v" sound would be a problem. "howeba"
must go and tackle some weeds; see you later everybody
bye for now ruby
Bye ruby
That is it Nancy. It is so cute
Sorry I got distracted by new Fall Out 3 game
that's why my English name is Jesse; it's a very comfortable name for Koreans to pronounce. But, I should probably get up and go enjoy this day..
Good Morning babblers!
HI Red
But Nancy we do that here English names.
Hi Herin and everyone else.
what's that, Herin? I mean, I have a Korean name and an English name. But, my parents are Korean, and sometimes have difficulty with some English words
Many Chinese people also do that, they have a chinese name and then an English name. My Ex was named Peng, he never got an English name because the one he wanted his dad hated!
can I have a clue for sh7 please ?
We have a habit of giving everyone nicknames
I've never really had a nickname, since my name is short, no one ever bothered.
I do and my response is a Nat is what hangs off a Gnu's butt
i've never had a nickname. i do go by a middle name, though.
Hi DC
hello DC, how are you?
hello.
i'm almost well-rested.
long weekend
I hope it was fun.
sh7 is a not so nice nickname for a jewish person, not used anymore, builds on the sh5
thanks lyn.A direction I hadn`t tried.
hi folks - I've set my timer for three minutes of babble - if I stay longer, you'll know what I think about getting to work on time...
good morning everyone!
hi JBV and Mom
and Macadam
Hi Red, how is your job?
MOOOOOOOOOOOM
Hi JBV
It turned out to be fine. I think.
hi Mom
{{Herin}} hello
I'm glad to hear that
can I use my three minutes to tell you an amazing story???
please do, JBV
please do, jbv
you may JBV.
in 1973 I visited my father's hometown - a tiny mountain village in Sicily, MezzoJuso, where I stayed with his sister and her family .........
Hi Lynxxx
corresponded for a few years (difficult because I don't speak Sicilian, my Italian was not the best, etc)
lost contact......
now it's 2010, my brother decides it's time for him to meet his roots, takes his wife, three grown children, visits the town (with a translator/guide). and...
and my aunt (father's sister) is still living there - 92 years old, as spry and sharp as ever and greeted them with a wonderful warm reunion!!!
how wonderful!
wow, what a wonderful story and reunion
that sounds super JBV!
I am now waiting for him to send me the pictures and get the full blow-by-blow, etc..
sounds like it will be another reunion of sorts when your brother returns with the pictures
i'm going to nap. til later!
bye bye Seain, enjoy
Later DC
well he lives in Santa Fe, so it will be long-distance but he will email me the photos - and now I guess we will resume correspondence, although it will probably fall on me to brush up on my Italian - my brother has absolutely no Italian at all
now you have your first retirement assignment.... brush up on your Italian. :-)
that's right, Mom, I was just thinking that...
and thanks for listening - I love sharing this story. My three minutes are up, time for work - see you later
My cousin is thinking of running of to live in Europe. Italy is on the list
O JBV you are so dedicated
(it was really 10 minutes, herin, but thanks!)
bye bye JBV, have a good day
have a good day

SH 7 clue
Good morning {{Annie}} ... dang, I had that word :(
Hi Annie
Hi ((Mom))..I'm lurking till I go through the grid and find the easy ones
Hi herin
go back to lurk mode then, and say good morning when you are ready.
Never mind
LOL, okay...hiding under cover of lurkdom
Is Lurkdom a superpower?
herin, sounds sinister, doesnt it
does anyone know if the en 8 a compound word?
dont know, mom
thanks Annie
Mom, how are your parents?
doing pretty good Annie, Mom has a doctor's appointment this morning
mom, just a check up, I hope
she is a 30 year cancer survivor (breast) but now her other one is causing her pain. She just had a mammogram and it showed nothing so I am just hoping it is just that, a pain.
and will heal itself
Mom get her to get an MRI
Mom, that the ammogram shoud nothing is extremely encouraging...just a pain as you said
she just had a sonogram on it. I am sure the doctor will have her take all kinds of tests. X-ray, CT Scan, MRI
*showed
en8/9 is french and is made up from 2 words, a warehouse or market
That is the word I was looking for sorry Sonogram my brain is made of fail
not to be crude, but maybe she pinched it or slept crooked and that made it sore.
you're fine Herin
thanks Lynxxx, will go look
It can happen or the bra itself has pinched
if Babble keeps up with all these french words, I am going to have to learn a second language
mom, anything is possible..maybe she is sleeping on that side..yes, I was going to mention her bra also
I will let you all know, but she doesn't seem overly concerned but concerned enough to want an appt
thank you for asking about them. They are some dear and wonderful folks
I hope all will be well...let us know what happens at the appt
you all have touched my heart, such kind and loving people
as you are kind and loving also, Mom
**blushing** thank you
Lynxxx, thank you.
yw Mom.
I am still showing yestedays clues from Lickety can someone provide me the number of words? Thanks

These are tiny little real ballet shoes
I am terrible
no you are not, Herin
oh geez, look at all these RE words. **sigh**
I am a big girl at heart. These shoes are so adorable. They are mini ballet shoes. I am going to have to buy the largest size
22 of 'em
I always leave those to last, mom
Hi Sally
Hi Sally
Hi there all, have been here, on and off
Hi Sally
I would just like to get halfway before I start my day. Not looking good

ty mitch
yw - it was bugging me too :)
Good morning/afternoon all.
Afternoon Haz!
Have you been to the garden centre yet?
Hello! Not been yet, I was doing thank you letters and pieces for the local paper this morning. I'll sally forth soon.
I'm hunkering down in doors as it is a tad warm out in the garden at the mo. But there is much watering to do later.
HAve you caught any of the news re the shootings in Cumbria?
Yes, it's getting warm here. I walked Spangle down to the Post Office to get things posted and we both needed a drink.
No! I must look at the BBC website. You don't associate Cumbria with shootings. Back shortly.
How is the glittery one today?
I'm fine thank you *beams*
lol greetings jmc.
hi all
i need just a bit of silliness to get going in the forming
er *morning
Just read the news, FM, reminiscent of Hungerford, but more spread out.
did wonder what you were aiming for there jmc :)
hello FM! hola haz!
hiya jmc. :)
hi eva
*waterbombs jmc s Lori is not here to take the thwack*
Bonjour EvaN and jmc.
I am sure that was an amazing freudian slip but i can't imagine what it was either
how refreshing!
Hi EvaN Is so strange HAz, will wait for more news I gues to give us a fuller picture.
*gets towel to dry hair*
They think they've got the body of the gunman.
sounds awful but since I have acquaintances on the rescue ship to gaza and a friend arrested in I forget what african country I think I have my quota of bad news for the week
At least that means it has ended. Oh gosh yes jmc the gaza ship event was awful.
I still don't know who was killed by the israelies I am afraid to find out
Good afternoon. Electrician has been and gone and I am back to finish.
Good afternoon, Sally.
Afternoon Sally.
hi sally
how are we today?
hope for good news jmc
Basking in sunshine and heat Evan!
I'm grand, EvaN.
I'm fine, EvaN
good morning
Good morning, harpjane.
gosh it is hard to unravel where words begin and end in this grid!
My good news for the day is that tomorrow, the census for 1901 Ireland goes online. I've seen parts on microfiche but it's so much easier to work with online.
how many letters in the bottom t?
Hi harp. Esp with the t's jmc.
te6, harpjane.
6 harp
That's good Haz. I am deeply into genealogy but no-one from Ireland at the moment.
my family left scotland (some via ireland) well before 1901
Oh you will be ferreting into the records with renewed vigour then HAz?
It's difficult to do Irish records because so many records were destroyed, but they've taken the decision to give free access to 1911 and 1901. It's been really interesting.
I'll be interested to try and sort out a couple of details. My great-grandfather wasn't at home on the night of the census 1901 - hopefully I'll be able to trace where he was!
I am ignoring the Wesh side of the family records at the mo as there are so many Jonses.
I can understand your reasoning, FM!
Are you scared that you'll be related to Tom?
hi all. any clue for the9?
I've ignored my MIL for years does that count?
No, ruru, that gets you no brownie points at all.
our family do not throw underware at singers - so I guess we are not related :)
damn......
Hi ruru!
gm ladies
en9/60 - a plural
mmm just munching on some strawberries, the taste of summer!
mmm, I haven't had any yet. We have a strawberry farm down the road, so I feel a visit might be immiment!
Nothing like proper home grown ones with red insides instead of white, dry things.
ty haz but need a clue as i am not getting it at all.
I used morewords to find it, mkg.
Oh you must Sally! and yes HAz, the ones I am eating are English and so sweet and juicy.
mmmm strawberries
Oh these are wonderful Haz. They sell "seconds" which are just not accepted by the supermarket because, for instance, they are over-large. They are absolutely wonderful.
too soon for here -- can only get texas ones
over large???
en8 - french come on in + coffee *** (pl)
That's the supermarket's definition!!
there's such a thing as a strawberry that's too big?! Gimme!
ty got them.
And we have local cream, and ... dribbling quietly here.
what a great clue mom
lol NB, did you go out and get some freshair and sunshine?
thanks jmc
odd supermarket . . . .i would gladly eat and overlarge strawberry!
They work out very cheaply as well like that, because (sob) we have to buy 8 punnets at a time.
oh no creamhere, just the berries.
*runs and tackles NB* hello stranger!!
what is a punnet?
is there weight-watchers for strawberries?
I did FM, from behind the safety of my aviators ;)
A punnet - a little basket or cardboard container for fruit.
Eva, you're back! Glowingly tanned, I presume?!
*grin* NB
the thought of fresh whole cream on strawberries. . .
already peeling, im afraid!
ty haz
*gives eva aloe lotion*
:-) Morning cats and kittens!
You're welcome - my job is to translate for non-British babblers.
Hello, Judi.
hi judi
Morning Judi.
oh nooo, already? it's been great fun here - we had a miniature heatwave so all the English are red and peeling. *smug*
Hi Judi.
okay if I am to ever get nbt i need a clue for the S in the lower corner, the bottom T and the top E
Not all of us, NB. Some of us wear sun screen and a hat!
The English are fools if they don't use a bit of wit and put on sunscreen.
did you have a good time, though? :)
I wear long sleeves too boot sally
st5 -s plus a word for 'to throw away carelessly'
Oh talking of aloe, my Mums gardener has potted up an aloe vera plant for me so I can use it on my dermatitus (on my finger tips).
its quite disgusting, actually. im slathered with lotion to keep it from looking too terrible, but at home, im peeling away... had a glorious time, though!
good idea FM
oh dear, we are having a shelter-in-place drill. back in a bit!
er4/4 (our old friend the looooooooove god)
FM, if you have dermatitus, be careful of some of the plants in your garden.
te6 Think bowling
trot tort
ah NOW i see him ty again haz
and I missed it of course HAz - thanks for the clue!!!!!!!!!
I am so sorry
ty wht!
love god? I don't see my name in there ;)
oh such as what Sally?
hi aslindy!
Also, er4/4 - what goes with recreation, letters mixed up.
*smacks NB on head with a rolled up newspaper*
okay nbt and must go to work
*puts on cape and leaps out of chog window in a single bound*
HAve a good day jmc.
Some plants can cause a reaction, especially if you go in the sun after. If you get something strange, look in the garden! Some kinds of primula for instance can cause a rash. I have huge skin problems so am aware.
need clue for the second fi 7 please.
hi... morning... have only had 3 sips of coffee so far so barely awake
Oh thanks for that Sally - will make a note.
trade you fro the first one mkg
fi7 - blazing marijuana
fi 7 - similar to than en9
great clue haz
fi7 - compound camp**** and tea***
fi7/40 - in the competition between fish, some are fi7/40 than others.
Hi dan, hows the little one doing?
rofl Haz.
ty got it.
thats great haz - thanks
You're welcome.
pi 6?
baby2bit was up a lot last night, having slept much of yesterday. But she sleeps now, as does her mom
thanks Haz
You're welcome, as.
awe, hope you can get your share of sleep too.
dan - sounds like you're going to have the age-old problem of getting the baby to sleep all night instead of all day.
She's very pretty, by the way. And congratulations!
she is, she's sooo gorgeous :)
Thanks, all. I rather think so too :-)
Yes, dan. She's loverly.
repost is not a word?
I don't see where to go with teh or 5/14 is it a fish?
Oh she is. And it's not just you being biased. I remember pitying other mothers because their babies weren't as pretty as mine and they were going to have to show ugly babies to visitors.
or5/14 - o plus a caged bone, finish off with a vowel.
or + sewing needle.
Nothing wrong with having an ugly baby. I was a hideous baby ;)
thank you haz
Impossible, NB! *squeezes cheeks*
new one for me
You're welcome, ruru.
Oh don't encourage him Judi!
LOL, Judi. Yes, don't encourage me ;)
*grin*
I've seen it before, don't know whether in the grid or in my eternal trawling through morewords. Have I recommended it lately?
thanks haz... it's a type of antelope!
not for at least a couple of days Haz - tsk tsk!
I'll have to do better, they'll be cutting my commission cheque if I don't improve my ideas.
Hello, Good People of Babbledom.
Have you set up a website yet for your walk?
Hello, Vicuna!
Greetings Vi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lovely day, I hope.
*I've been saving those ! by the way Haz*
It's a fine day, VI, all the better for seeing you.
Ah, likewise, Haz.
clue for first st7 please
Hiya, Vic!
Waste not, want not, FM, you've done well.
st7 - first four letters of the back of a boat, then decay backwards (three letters) Phone...
thanks haz
totally not getting that one, haz
at least, I put in what I thought you meant but it is not a word
Awww, I was so excited to find "petrifiers," but Enable won't take it.
How is everything Vi?
What else would you call a bunch of gorgons, eh?
shelter in place has been terminated.
fun times.
enable is poopy to quote Lorip
All is swell, thanks, FM. School will be out soon, another art show this weekend, garden looking healthy (at least, where the bugs aren't destroying the asparagus, anyway), ... Yep, all swell. You?
is the first he related to the next 4 he?
What's a gorgon?
Medusa was one.
ditto ditto :) and the sun is shining :)
shelter in place, Eva?
Good Morning Fellow Babblers. My phantom of the day is stress. It SHOULD be here
Sun here, too, after enough rain to water the garden... perfection.
kinda like a fire drill, but one where we stay inside the building. i thin its intended for anthrax scares + things like that...
Hi NEf.
true Nef, but try not to get uptight over it ;)
Hello, Nef.
lol. Gorgon sounds like an ugly mole or something. "I'm having a gorgon removed today".
also protein
Lol, NB. :-)
blimey. what a dramatic life you do lead ;)
Back in 5 or so, need to do some emails.
Hi, FM, Vicuna and all
Hurry back, FM, dear!
Phantom: Presto!
right, and I'll habe to bbl - my friend has had her haircut, and is insisting I come round to admire it with her. take care of yourselves, everyone, and good to have you back, Eva :) x
dramatic? hardly. we all just walked upstairs and talked for a while until they let us go. :)
Ah yes, Admiration Duty. Serve well, Nancy Boy.
for my king and my country, Vic. *salutes*
*salutes*
TY, dearest. (((huggles)))
Just realized that Nef is in the grid today.
clue for the PT6 please
Judi, I didn't see that til just now (wandered off to grab some more coffee, and searched for over a minute after reading your post!
pt6 - pt + girl's name for Ieland
And you're pluralized too!
*Ireland
thank you
now, *that* would be dangerous, Judi! ;-)
finally found my last word, teh bowling accessory.
YAY, inge! WTG!!!!
Yay for inge!
Vi - good icon, it must take skill to get those edges to sharp.
Thanks, inge! I was looking to black out that bottom T.
congrats inge
*so sharp even!
Gosh, at least 5 dead in shooting in Cumbria.
It is sad isn't it Sally, maybe even up to 11.
is there a way to look up a player so I can add them to my friends, if they are not currently on, and not high enough to be in the rankings?
Don't think so aslindy - you can add them as a friend if they are online but that is about all.
go to the rankings and click on them
ok, thanks. That is what I was thinking, FMitch, since I am not seeing a way to do it.
you can get their profiles that way - dont know if you can add them
thanks . Takes a bow and now looks up Cumbria
I don't know of a way to do it either if they aren't online
can only add friends when someone is online
hello, FM, as, Nef, Inge, MNH, et al
Hey dc!!
finally back online after a LONG weekend
hi dc!
Hi dcs
Momneedshelp... they have only played Babble a couple times, so I don't see them in the rankings
was it a good long w/e?
that wont work then - sorry
i'll be offline again Friday through Sunday - we're going camping at Big Meadow in Shenandoah Nat'l Park.
no problem, and thanks
It was good, if one w/out much sleep
lol
made up for the sleep from 18 to 6 overnight
sounds like your having fun IRL, dc! Good for you! :-)
gosh that was a catch up sleep!
yesterday was hard. i slept from 05:30 to 08:30 on Monday, then spent the evening going from Baltimore to Philadelphia to Baltimore to Home, getting in at 1:30, then had 11 AM interview. WEEE!
How did the interview go?
Wow. Do you even remember the interview? I couldn't have done that at all!
alright. not as excited about it after this round of interviews, an there is another round togo.
fingers crossed none the less hun!
i'm looking forward to the 2nd interview with US Dept of Transportation, date TBD
thanks :)
Hello, dc. Good luck on having all the options available so you can make the choice you want.
thanks, vic
Am going to bow out for a while, lovely chatting and Happy Babbling all.

hi flosey
howdy flosey
fireworks
wow, wtg josh
am not using chat very much because of the fine print in here - having enough problems finding words
once i got the r's s's and t's it was pretty smooth sailing
am using grandson's computer and I don't know how to make things a bit bigger
flosey, what do you use as your browser?
Help on the te6/21 please???
oh i see

using google
erda - the normal mode of bowling
with firefox as your default browser, you can make each letter of text as big as a goose egg if needed lol
gulp -- never bowled...
I tried to use firefox but it put me back to msn - just gave up
if windows try holding down control and hitting the plus sign, if mac, switch the apple key for control
instead of there being 8 little white things at the end of the lane, there are *** ***s

Think of a bowling ball bubba
Hi Flosey! When traveling I've been taking a notebook. The size of the screen just isn't big enough. There's no place like home.
thanks fmitch, just kept looking the other direction
Good on fireworks mix!
yw :)
Oh, not being a bowler, it took me a minute to figure the te out.
Greetings Stidgmere
Hi fmitch. Today is my daughter, stidmama's birthday!
Oh is it?? Many Happy returns of the day to dearest stiddy!!!!
Do send her my best wishes.
hello all
where is the birthday girl?
Hi peri.
I will wish her a happy birthday anyway.
She is in her last week of school for the year (at school now).
A Very Happy Birthday to YOU, stiddy!!
probably working her ass of as usual :)
ARe there any plans for a celebration?
We will celebrate this weekend. She likes Angel food cake and I can make it without wheat flour. But what she likes best is the pink, fluffy frosting that is traditional with our family.
Now there is a good mama :)
((FM))
Give her a big babble hug from all of us when you see her.
Oh, I will certainly give her your good wishes FMitch and all.
(((crossy)))
bbl
Tooooo much (((()))) going on!!!!
crossy has been a rock for me and deserves the occasional hug.
True, crossy you are a steadying influence on us all and we appreciate you.
aww..shucks....
*can feel his head swelling from here* :)
*waves a strip of bacon unde his nose*
not till the 6th fm
sorry, that was cruel ;)
you can eat pig on the 6th?
and i have 2 pounds in the fridge for that fateful day;)) along with hash browns and maple breakfast saussages
LOL crossy you are priceless!!
What are we to celebrate on June 6? D day I think.
food freedom day!!
crossy is on a vry stict diet at the moment stidgmere
eat what you want, when you want it for 24 hours
Oh, I am glad food will be freed on June 6 or is that fried?
foods...crossy wants it....
yay party time at crossys!!!
Both, I suspect. I must say, Crossey, you keep your (and our) spirits up very well, considering the diet.
You have will power then, crossy. There is a story about Frog and Toad by Arnold Lobel. At the end of the story, the one friend tells the other he can keep the will power, he will take the cookies.
LOL
i have on order a dozen of the most beautiful brown double yolk egss from the farm up the road,i shall pick them up after work on the 5th..along with some real butter lol
Shall we all converge somewhere in Canada for food day?
Hi helens
come to my place,i will be cooking traditional canadian north woods brekkies all day ;)
oh yes - brunch at crossys and then on to a babble party!
45 left - just discovered the fi7,8 pair - lovely - almost as nice s the en8,9 pair. What a nice grid.
and the peameal..sliced thick and fried to a golden brown with a slice of cheddar melted on top
With maple syrup pie to finish off?
lol, actually i do not care for real syrup..too sweet
I'll get the babble jet out of mothballs and we can pick up babblers along the way.
the hash browns shall have diced valencia onions and bacon bits in it;))
I shall be waiting for the sky hook to pluck me off of my lawn as we are skyward bound for Crossy's Babblers' Breakfast (served all day long.)
Oh, good Crossey - going the savoury route. Pick me up en route, FM - I'm right on your way - sort of.
HAVe to admit that in all my visits to the US - never got to grips with hasbrown, what are they supposed to be?
They are just hunks of brown greasy stuff.
Diced boiled potatoes, fried in butter, usually with onion
they are diced taters fried golden brown in butter with any addition you like
not the way i do them fm
now that sounds good helens
Hash browns are potatoes that are soft on the inside, and crispy fried on the outside. A side dish to eggs. The saltiness of the potatoes are justaposed to the blandness of the eggs.
and my eggs are never bland lol
I know they have aprupose and that sounds scrummy.
only fresh right from the farm, the yols a rich golden colour
Well, eggs take on the personality of the chef. Mine are blander than yours Crossy.
How can eggs be bland? Even leaving aside the salt and pepper.
i even have some mediterranian sea salt and new peppercorns waiting to be ground
Sorry, slightly distracted there as we have had a shooting in the norht of the country, and the news has just put out an update - 12 killed and 25 injured.
Ah, are you using eggs from real chickens or eggs from neat 12-to-the-box cartons?
never have pepper just sitting around.only grind it as you use it
still bird crap on them when i get them stid lol
I can see that free food day is something that can occupy enough of your time and energy in between to keep you from raiding the pantry!
Oh, no fmitch. I had no idea. So sorry. It is a tragedy.
oh i did not know fm,sorry..and here i am prattling on about breakfast
Wouldn't it be nice to have a day without something like that. Sorry to hear it FM.
you keep prattling dear crossy :)
actually i have an appt this afternoon and must leave you all to go and soap down this mass of muscle
IT has happened in one of the quietest counties and one of the most beautiful ones too - Cumbria.
tc all and happy babbling...poink!
Wel'll keep the chatline open til you return crossy.
Bye crossy and see you agaoin soon.
see ya crossy
All this talk of food is making me hungy and as it is nearly 6pm I think I will venture into the kitchen.
TTFN all :)
Time here for a wee snack and a cup of coffee. Thanks for your company.

sh 7 clue please
Sorry, Merk, don't have it yet...
I was goint to try searching at more words, but I cannot connect to the site. I can go everywhere else, just not there.
I'm looking at A2Z words right now...
Not that it's helping...
And we are either the only ones here, or others are lurking or eating lunch.
There are words with the right letters in the grid, but they don't connect ... shefifs, sherbet
shereef, nothing works.
hello everyone
Hi, Katie! Join us in looking for sh 7/32!!
oh my goodness I'd have no chance but will give it a go!
Hi, Katie. Not too much activity here this afternoon. Jellen is helping me look for the sh 7, but neither of us is too successful. MoreWords.com must be 'down'. I can't get on it.
I'm concluding that if it's not she, it has to be shr, but I can't find it.
hello all. i'm looking too
hi again, just took a break
Flosey! Do you have sh 7?
Flosey, we're all looking for the sh 7 and are stimied.
hi all. make the sh5 sound diminuitive
have it, same as 5 and 2 vowels
its the 5/12 with to vowels
Thank you all!! That is not in A2Z!

There's the corner st***, Flosey
that's the next one I have gg but it's a 12
yes, it comes between those two words
Ah!
I am able to get lickety's clues but not connected to the game, is's separate so have to enter words twice
and unable to get morewords
just trying to be helpful - i haven't gone to Lickety yet. I also have to type everything twice, flosey. is there a solution to that?
there is gg you should be able to get the clues connected (http://licketysplitaus.googlepages.co m/BabbleExpert12_FireworksForever.zip
try it - as long as you're not using a Mac, appaarently it doesn't work there
s+throw a ball
aha, thanks jmc, think that must be the only way my monkeys didn't go!

flosey, i tried that link to lickety but it didn't work
thanks for the babble expert it's great :-)
are you using a Mac? gg?
No
O dpm
it came up as a page not found
I don't understand then
it was Jillibus who helped me with it
oh well, i'll try again another time
good luck
make sure you didn't have the bracket at the front gg
good point, Katie
just realised the time off to do dinner, back soon
guernseygirl, did you use the save or open feature when the link came up?
nm, just saw the rest of that...
I copied the link and pasted it into the address space. i've just tried again and it gets me to Lickety, but not to the Babble Expert bit
I saved it, then had to open it for it to work for me. Guess I should have just used the open button in the first place.
I'm not really very sure of my way around computers, but good luck GG
just waiting for the grill to heat up
I just copied it and it took me straight there gg
thanks, flosey. i haven't got time to fiddle around with it any more now - i'll have another try tomorrow. i want to go and watch Junior Apprentice at 9. see how far i can get with the grid before then.

amanda holden has been botoxed into a waxwork!
that is certainly true
can't think why people do botox. it makes them look so characterless
apart from, why would you want to inject yourself with a deadly poison anyway.
vanity can be the only answer to that
i guess so. has your grill heated up yet?
yep better go and grill, bbl to get my last 108 lol
bye for now then, Katie

That gave me 6!
More, that is...
I read a book and had to make a book re****, my plant was root bound so I had to re*** it

I have a chipmunk inside my squirrel proof feeder!
Oh no!
no such thing as a squirrel-proof feeder. i do wonder how a chipmunk got up there, though.
some are very squirrel-resistant though.
Yes, so do I. Pretty suspicious. However, I am fond of chipmunks
Afternoon all.
It's a beautiful evening here in CT, for a change. Really low humidity
Hi, red!
we have all your humidity here
howdy, red
No I htink I have much of the humidity, but Washington can get pretty hideous in the summertime.
I thought every summer day in DC is a bear
now and again, we get a hot, low-humidyt day. those are a treat!
Actually DC, I lied, we have high temp but they say the humidity is 47% which is very very low for us...
Wow red, you must be in the humidityless part of FL
huh. it claims only 47% here too.
feels worse than that.
this morning it was 87% humidity, I guess the heat burned it off...
It does feel worse than that here too...
hello all,
or the weather people are wrong in both places, i suppose
hi, peri
Hi, peri!
hai all -- any hints for the bottom corner s?

st7 - like one that begins
then plural
s + T*** the ball

*please
that's not good hurshy, they always take ages over here so at least you plan for it!
hello briefly -- does anyone have clues for the en8 & 9?
st7 - first four letters of the back of a boat, then decay backwards (three letters)
they have that nifty online tracker, you know? and our order left the store half an hour ago... so that's like 45 mins after i placed the order... starting to wish they still had that 30 mins or it's free thing.
en8 - french word for warehouse
ty so much dc, I thought I had tried that one many times
i could have cooked something faster than this.
that got it for me thanks dc
en9 - plural
ours dropped the 30 min thing years ago it was costing them too much
thanks dc!
they dropped it nationally years ago due to number of collisions their driving their drivers were causing
i think they dropped it bc of safety - some drivers were ... yeah, what dc said.
okay homework...going to take some thinking back later all
bye barb!

Thanks, peri
LOL thanks all!
oh! and I got my student teaching assignment!!! a VERY urban school in Tacoma. A VERY long way from home... but should be a great placement and ought to provide me with still more practice in the area I feel weakest (language arts).
wtg stiddie
why is that your weakest area? because it comes naturally to you?
*sigh of relief* yep. still ten. I am OFFICIALLY the youngest mama to a 17+ yo in the world! rofl
re
pi
oh oh feather I got my ty from the other teacher!
yay!!!!! that's cool! what'd you get?
sorry!!! my bad :(
thanks feather -- I am a very skilled "reading" teacher, but "language arts" at the upper grades is daunting. Not sure why. Perhaps because it's bundled with "literature" which I HATED at that age.
hey pinny!
a nice note about his older illiterate students--I got him a projector
no notes from the kids? no pictures?
Hey Stid - Happy Birthday to you!
well done, jmc!
ahhh, i see stid
not yet. . . this is the first layer of ty i think
ohhhh, lol, ok
layers...
one plus, it will be with 7th graders... halfway between the two grades I have now done some extensive/intensive work with!
YAY stidmama for getting a good assignment. I am sorry it is far away because of your gas costs, but I know you will do well.
what will your certification eventually be stid?
7th grade literature is still very basic. STOP WORRYING!
thanks Bugs-- I will be able to carpool: there are SIX of us (five who live between me and the school) who will be assigned there.
Mid-level humanities (lang arts/soc studies) and elementary ed.
I will do elementary student teaching in the spring, locally.
interesting mix!
fireworks
yay annie!
Those kids are so lucky to get you.
Yay, Annie!!!
YAY Anneie
well, the elementary ed allows me to add almost any secondary endorsement, and the mid-level is where my heart lies. SO... if later I want to add mid-level math or science, I should be able to.
Anniebrook, sorry I misspelled your name
YAY Annie!!!!
lol 7th grade/ just toss moby dick and lord of the flies at them and ask for 500 page report
depending on your class you could teach Maniac Magee
Hey Twin- Happy Birthday

Hi jbv. welcome to the party for stidmama and DR1975
sh 7/32 add 2 vowels to sh 5/12
didn't know it was a double! Happy birthday stid and DR!
the sh7 was a pejorative term, I believe
ty
it is a stupendous day! 2 babbling bdays.
LOL Thanks JBV and Thanks Bugs for cutting 10 yrs off my age... : )
Hi RED
hi dr happy borthday!!!!!!!
birthday!!!!!
they just made a BIG error on Jeopardy
really???!!?
what was it jmc? I missed it tonight
Hi red. Question, what does your icon have to do with Pentecost?
nothing anymore.
the answer was in the category about woodrow wilson and the answer had to do with ordering young men to do something in June 1917
it was for big engine day, part of the rocket for the moon launch back in 69....
register for a draft?
the woman--Gerry--said what is register with selective service?
i fprgot to change both halves...
no selective service back then - did they accept her answer?
alex trebek "corrected" her with "for the draft"
they took it?
but she got the money?
and then they accepted it. I just shot off an indignant e-mail!
ROFL knew I had missed something
back... classmate, talking about gendered language. *sigh* some days I wish I went to a really conservative, old school school.
they should not have acceptred that answer
so not the same thing! in 1917 you registered with the military which many peace church members were unwilling to do and the whole reason the selective service was created for WWII
good for you jmc -- *indignant mama look* how dare they accept it! LOL
RED!!!! HOW IS THE NEW JOB?????
look it is a show that won't take slightly off "questions" and prides itself on accuracy
so far it is very good.
thanks for asking stid, I was a ball of nerves. I still am...
Hi all. How are you, besides jmc's indignation?
last night was okay?
i did not work last night, so it was lovely.
*indignant look*
LOL red. (((Hugs))) you'll make it. AND I got my student teaching assignment... so now I can be a ball of nerves all summer long!
jmc, many people do not know that in 1917 the Jones Act, which conferred US citizenship on Puerto Ricans, was intended to supply conscripts for the military
where will you be student teaching stid? what grade?
in Tacoma, JBV, 7th grade language arts, an area where additional training will be much appreciated.
more's the pity jbv. . . but most people don't know HALF the stuff the have on Jeopardy
I only found out today, so need to arrange to meet with the teacher sometime next week.
that's great - hope you get the best co=teacher!
when does the teaching start?
I'm good at only certain categories - I'd fail miserably on the sports and pop music categories
I think it will be good, JBV. I start teaching .... actually I am not sure. let me run look.
i am fairly eclectic
sept 2 is the start date for that district, I will want to be helping the teacher set up the classroom though, so at least a week in advance.
a hint for the student teacher - see if you can arrange with whoever needs to OK it, to visit and observe in other classes besides the one you're attached to
oo good idea jbv
there are a lot of good teachers out there and you can learn from all of them
in our district we do a lot of "peer visitation" - it goods for the observer and the observee
*it's good
that is actually something our college insists on, JBV. a VERY good idea! and I have 5 classmates who will also be there, so perhaps we can visit each others' classes. *bounce bounce* study-buddies!
exactly!
back, hopefully more alert!
help with ch5/14
hey feather! look over there! *hides grid*
I am only down to 132. *sigh*
Don't know much about Tacoma - do you have a lot of students learning English as a Second Language?
ch + ernie and b*
the ch 5/14 is a flint-like stone, jmc. common in the tidewater region.
ty harry
yw
stid my clue was alot more lowbrow :)
124 left, and HA
our district has a "visa" program, where we can visit other classrooms. i did it this year, and it was fabulous.
I used the clue I did, Harry, because as a child on walks in the parks around Newport News that is one of the stones we learned to identify
nice - I'm woefully ignorant of rocks...and I have to teach about them, which is a shame
not sure it was anywhere near as helpful as yours! LOL
really harry? are you a geologist?
hydrologist
cr5/12
can't call myself a hydrogeologist cause of my lack of geology :)
I like that idea, feather - the visa program
cr + raw mineral
clue for the first ri 6/24
VERY cool! rocks AND water. So many very interesting things that happen when those two meet.
jmc add iron *** (metal containing rock)
hahaha just monkeyed that one Jmc, cr + what you get from a mine like gold ***
i went right before easter vacation, saw how she did her centers the "literacy collaborative" way, and had to redo my centers over break. well, didn't have to, but if i didn't, i'd have driven myself nuts.
hey mel!
thanks for the cr
lots of rocks here
Hey everyone ((HUGS)) all around =)
and stid, you're going to win this one, cause i'm watching so you think you can dance, and am only gridding on commercials!
is the fi7/8 an extension of the flames?
that is good to know that even a teacher like yourself still finds cool new things "right next door" feather!
yes Harry what you cook in
hi melae
ty mel

awesome nef!!!!! i know you are eady for that!!!!!!
that was muster not mustard
I know, but you never can tell... *wicked mama look*
mustard helps all things.
i think too much mustard would interfere with muster
maybe the inspector really likes hotdogs or something?
or 6/18 or+ nut from a pine tree
handrails... no throw rugs... chair with arms that can help a person up and down....

you can stid
id did a vinergar and basalmic oil/bacon dressing for the mrs
i am being restrained and not drinking more than two drinks a night
working on that one now speed lol
mm..typos are going well today
I would think bacon would work better soaked in oil rather than vinegar
thanks will be my last word and I have not finished one in a long time
i even made a riggatoni a la vodka and used bacon vodka for the flambe;))
a nice olive oil also works well
that sounds DELISH, cross!
go speakfreak go!
or 6/18 is Murder on the Or**** Express; 3rd day in a row I think
anyone out there have the or6/18 begging for help
bleh got it its a fish, the east is commonly referred to as the or****
ty nef
not yet speekfreak, sorry
hi bugs
rofl... as opposed to occident. thanks mel!
OMG all that time for that word!!!!
yes you take 4 finely chopped green onions, some finely chopped garlic, crumble up six slices of crisply cooked bacon and sizzle all this in a teaspoon of real butter on med heat...after about 7 minutes you toss in a jigger of bacon vodka and flambe it for 20 seconds, then put it out with a half pint of 355 cream....
35%
that does sound nice crossy.
cant believe I spent 10 minutes looking for that one I swear and was going the entirely wrong way on it
whoo hooo speed!
thank you so much now i can go fold laundry finished
grat Speed!
then add pre cooked penne or rigatoni noodles and simmer for 5 minutes
gee whiz, cross! Not exactly weight-watchers, is it? *wipes drool off keyboard*
YAY speed!
it is amazing
WTG, speed!!! YAY!!!
*mentally changing some ingredients so doesnot make 9,000 calorie version*
yaa for speed!! crossy gives speed some rigatoni a la vodka
tr 6/21 please the after that nasty meat that I refuse to eat
well, down to 73. I think I will list. *looks around for feather*
replace 35% cream with can of cream of mushroom soup
I didn't finish yesterday at all.
clue for sh 7 please
boy, crossy; that's some diet you're restricted to! That vinegrette sound downright fattening just reading it!
menuda!
replace butter with 1/2 tsp of cold pressed olive oil
i have not had it of late nef
lol, down to 98
not done with first pass
sh4+two vowells
go feather go! I am down to 70 now, but won't ask for clues until you do. BUt if the computer dies from lack of power then I will disappear...

cabana boy?
stid, i can't race, dang it. unless you're willing to take periodic pauses so i can watch dance! it's not a show you can only listen to, lol
I'm going to bow out not so gracefully, before I face plant on my keyboard.
bye gramma
a face plant would probably dominate the chog
agreed.
wuDBDSBj
or goodnight!
really gramma! LOL (sweet dreams)
lol bye gramma
I am not really racing, feather. I am just glad we are online at the same time of day!
:) phew
dinner tonight, just so you know im not gobbling rigatoni a la vodka shall be brocalli fried rice, lemon pepper chicken and brussel sprouts
that sounds lovely cross -- except the brussels things. *yuck mama face*
still sounds better than mine, croossy
unless you plan on smothering those in bacon?
I struggle to like brussels.
sounds tasty crossy
brussells is a wonderful town!
crossy, we used to call them "Barbie cabbages" when the kids were small
i love brussell sprouts but they do not love me *burp*
even our son would try them with a new name
lol,we used to call them brussel snouts as kids
I won't even tell you what we call Okra!
I never ate brussels or okra as a child.
Hi all...I see I entered at an interesting time...
nor liver.
I don't ever remember even seeing them as a child
<-- love steamed brussels sprouts and butter!
hey pini
I really love okra and people who don't still love my fried okra
hiya stid...
cute icon, pini!
Okra was one veggie I've never liked. The fuzzy texture
okra was unheard of here till the food gurus tried to outdo each other in the 80,s
liver was the best treat for all of us kids growing up. . . we never understood the jokes about it
I can't eat okra -- it's a hibiscus relative and my body just HATES it. but not as bad as eggplant that makes my mouth bleed...
stid how was school today?
just for you, stid (If I understood correctly)
jeez stiddie!
*note to self: never cook for stiddie*
*blush* thank pini
lol jmc,we used to love bread fried in bacon grease and fry ups
Stid? Birfday?? HAppy Birthday stiddie!!!!
I want to enter porter, portent, portend.
cute icon, pini!
school today wasn't bad, but I have a nasty virus, so it was a long several hours.
You mean I paid attention in school and learned something, stid?? :)
thx lbd ;)
Oh so sorry Study, ad happy birthday.
brb phone
terine
looks like a word, but isnt.
fried suppers when i was growing up were fried okra, fried eggplant, fried green tomatoes, hush puppies or cornbread, slice red tomatoes, sliced cucs in vinegar and corn on the cob
ah sounds like august to me!
the cukes in vinegar, very nice.
vinegar and water and some dill red
we had fried taters, fried tomato,,sausages, eggs everything went in a pan or was cooked in old bacon grease saved in a tin can on the stove
yum.
did you know cukes are a natural diuretic?
margerine did not exist yet and butter was too expensive
did not know that red
I really like this grid (so far)
we saved bacon grease too but my mother never bought margarine--always butter but just a little
same here jmc
the first margeine i saw came in one pund bricks like butter but in wax paper\
margerine was invented in 1877
was nasty stuff
however:In Canada, margarine was banned from 1886 until 1948 though this ban was temporarily lifted from 1917 until 1923 due to dairy shortages.
we never saw it till the mid 70,s
was 30 cents a pound and nasty
was 30 cents a pound and nasty
mm i have a stutter
yay ~Firewords~ finally
i am so hot i need a break
whoo hoo mel!
yaa meliae!!
yaa meliae!!
whoooo hoooooo MELIAE
hic
it is 60 f here and all we can smell is the ozone from the hard rain and kightening
lightening
interwebz had a burp I think
lightning
crossy is da typo king
been dumping here today, we set a record for rainfall most in one day on this particular day since they started recording it
crossy, you should try and read some stuff from shooshoo! talk about typos!
my garden is a wreck everything is just not doing well at all, well with the exception of my sweet pea flowers and eating peas they are loving it
send the wet stuff south and east, mel. don't need any more in MT
does anyone here remember the margerine coming in packages where it was white and there was a red dot of coloring that you had to squeeze the pkg til it turned yellow (besides me)
my roses are just nekkid sticks! whereas, my dad's roses are looking really good, nice firm buds on all of them
where does your Dad live, lbd?
Denver
less rain there, huh? My brother in Msla says the fishing is ruined there from all the rain
i bet my sisters would remember the margarine trivia. i remember my mom treating the stuff like it was gold over butter.
i remember that margerine nef,if you did not do it right,90% of it would be white and the rest red
what a WONDERFUL bday gift! My paternal unit went south, and I just got to say hello to my grandmother!
that was back in the early 50's, crossy
I don't usually call her because she is usually asleep (in a nursing home), but when people visit her, they call me when she is awake!
I have never heard of the red margerine. I will ask my Mom, she is in late 60's so I am sure she recalls.
my da must of told me,since i did not come along till shorty after
LOL! I AM older than dirt! :-D
most of the margerine i remember is in wax paper and nasty and crumbly
there were little packages of coloring to add to the white margarine to make it look more like butter. My grandmother and her sister have told me about it. oleo did that, I think.
we did not have oleo
that was a southern u.s thing i think
but butter was king for the most part,it was either butter or nothing
we kids would fight over who got to do it. But it was kind of hard to start it I believe
butter or bacon grease I bet
yup lots of bacon grease
there was always a tin can on the stove to collect the grease
eggs were always done "english style"
my mother in law talks about rendering lard from the animals they raised.
what is english style, cross? half-raw?
we'd render lard and make home made bar soap and have "crinklings"
no,sunny side up,and when half done you take a table spoon and splash the grease over the yolks till they form a white skin
because in my family eggs are always WELL cooked! and we're Irish...
my da loves craclking
oh, I see!
OOOH! Crossy! That sounds good!
that way you do not have to flip the eggs to have dipping eggs
so no egg snot
that sounds really yummy -- and really artery-hardening. *sigh* I like fried eggs.
I was raised Irish and we had "snotty" eggs --not well done
clue for the last st 6/27
crossy hates snotty eggs
I don't much like runny eggs.
closest we come is 4 minute soft eggs that you pop the top off of and we used to get 'toast soldiers" to dip in them
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!

Hi Boo
en8 = french come on in + tea *** (pl)
merci
never learned your welcome in french - anyone???
pas de quoi
*taking notes*
properly is il n'y a pas de quoi... short cut is pas de quoi. i think!
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
hooray for Nan
or just "de rien"
oh no -- that is what you say in reply to a thanyou -- it's nothing
I didnt take out a big enough post it note
clue for to 6/18
done... and goo d night
to 6/18: german cake
to6 = a wonderful choc dessert + cons
german cakes boo bear.. and thanks for the clues
good night dorens
I am confused though - I say your welcome after someone says thank you so why would "de rien" be different than "pas de quoi"
one more formal than the other???
it isn't really, mom -- just more casual -- more like our "no problem"
I think I got understand = depends on the circumstances
anyone want clues before I leave?
is the de rien a canadien expression?
no -- first heard it in France
I know there is a difference between parisien and canadien
OK
very slow response time tonight
Is redturtlehead here tonight?
Quebecois french is anglicised archaic french
she was earlier
maybe she has left for work
I got you Nan
thanks jmc - I guess I have been missing her all day - story of my life
The french that was originally brought to Canada was the french spoken by 17th C. sailors
what can you do with a drunken sailor?
*most of the sailors that sailed with Champlain came from Normandy
*dances a hornpipe*
***early in the mooooooooorning"
heigh ho
this is what I needed tonight........love you gals
*grabs welki by her elbow and then swings to cyber*
whoo!
thanks nan - I have been told that french was my first language but unfortunately I have forgotten it all - that french would be canadien but my grandmother was able to speak both dialects.

Heyas again ..
Goodbye Boobear!I will see you tomorrow in the chat
hey torg
for any of you that were here this past weekend when I had my meltdown, I apologize.
Sweet dreams Boo
i must have missed it mom --- i am sorry if times are rough
Red got the worst of it - I have been looking for her for two days now
I dont remember who else was here - maybe Boo
i was sitting on my couch in pain from sunday morning
Done with that - anyone need any clues - huh, come on now - CLUES......
what happened to you jmc?
this must be painful - taking a while to post
or very slow fingers...
hello - jmc - you awake - what happened
uh sorry got distracted
i over did gardening and hurt myself and overheated myself
i came home and literally collapsed on the sofa and still couldn't get up for the gym on Tuesday
not good overheating hon - gardening OK - not overheating - need to stay hydrated - get a good massage, or come north and use my hot tub..
i didn't realize i was overheated until too late
I'll just kick my kids out....
i walked away from the garden and realized i had to lie down under a tr** before I could walk home
yeah thats the problem - worse than sunburn.. need to drink lots of water - you should know that being further south than me...
no no let the kids stay
not good..
then I would have to worry = they are 13 and 17
I'm not worried about them -you may have to be afraid....
well i had some coffee and drank that and lay in the shade for a while before i walked home on the way home this woman saw me and asked if i could get home. . . very thoughty of her
poo i used to be the one parent in the neighborhood who hung out with the 3 boys and 2 girls from 7 until they were 15 more or less
at least you are Ok and had some help = THINK next time
it didn't help that i pulled a muscle in my hips or back or something
so all the stuff i was going to do this weekend . . . .
well the garden got done
my 13 year old is pretty buff....I'm scared - he is immature but the girls are not - My 17 year old daughter does not have her mind on boys (YES) there are more important things in life (YES)
so are you doing okay mom?
OK - kids are great - husb is not - rough going lately - dont know if we can work it out - he wont talk to me
too bad. . . get counseling even if he doesn't. . . you need to protect yourself
lets look on the lite side - still not smoking 42 days
WHOOO HOOOOO MOM!!!!
you know, we tried that 2 years ago with some idiot counselor - not going there again - I know what you mean - I have my docs to support me
despite it all........women rule........
the trick is to find a non-idiot counselor of course
are there any in the northeast.......been talking with friends - if anyone knows of anyone please let me know...
time to get to bed - thanks jmc for your support - leave your donation at the corner table.....lol
hmmm I will check with some friends of mine and let you know. Boston? Rhode Island?
lol
seriously thats for your friendship
I am in New Hampshire
