good morning. how many words today please
165, sandra, but be advised this is a grid for laying down and avoiding
YAY dee!!!
YAY vash!!!
thanks. i will take heed!!!
lying down, please.
most of these words are rubbish
doug, morewords is a big help -- essential, I'd say
I was actually thinking about the Monty Python Australian Table Wines bit, jilli. The one where the announcer says "This is not a wine for drinking. This is a wine for laying down and avoiding."
ah yes, doug, that makes sense <grin>
is there a list anywhere?
no, sandra!
gee thanx
I believe laying down is a term in the wine world for "putting in one's wine cellar and allowing it to age"
just if you scroll down, dart provided some
yes, doug, got it.
it's laying *something* down
good morning
Sorry, but that other laying is a bugaboo of mine. I was shocked to hear Yale-educated, upper-crust Anderson Cooper talka bout people "laying" in the streets of Haiti.
hello ruby :)
I see no reason why you should apologize for disliking a misuse of the weirdly complex, but highly expressive English language
I apologise because a babbler posted an objection in her profile to people's correcting English.
At nbt, with a little help from a lot of friends, and morewords
wtg doug :)
how could the babbler object to an objection? too funny. jilli, we need to be "hall monitors of the world"
I have to depart with 58 left -- too sleepy to persist.
Well, that would be a reason I could tolerate, if not embrace. (Had a fleeting thought "Whoever said that is in the wrong word game!")
sweet dreams, jilli
ruby, this babbler (and I've forgotten who it was) felt that the person who corrects is setting him/herself above others and does so only out of conceit.
bah, humbug! somebody has to set standards
hi guys
hmmm no list
Well, I think so, but I don't want to be offensive.
sandy, dart did post some lists in the chat -- you could go to the log
thanks jilli
you couldn't be, jilli
gm sandyloo
some of us need it
hi rub y
Anyway, good luck to all finding these obscurities, and goodnight!
*poof*
back in a minute, DH just brought groceries
Back from lunch with 14 to go
you are going well anike

i've just started and have 151 to go LOL
3 to go
136 here
fireworks
well done anike very well done
you are a hero
TY sandy. Others have done this before me. if you get stuck sandy, just look back thru the full chat log and you will find several lists for letters
ooh thanks anike
I'm going to say farewell, back tomorrow
bye
bye anike and congrats! how are you sndy?
I'm well today, have just finished getting everything ready for our new (and cute) accountant and that makes me feel good
now he is going to train me to enter all the data - I guess I will enjoy that, I like learning new things
how are you Ruby - enjoying your little village I bet - I told my husband I would like for us to live in France for a year
it is beautiful here right now, very long spring. But yesterday, the roses and peopnies were at their peak and my camera wouldn't work! very annoying. Then it rained and the flowers collapsed
Ruby, we would love rain - our biggest problem here is not enough of it - I LOVE it when it rains- sometimes we go without rain for 6 months
can you grow anything?
desert plants?
fruit?
yes we can, we have a bore and a dam and a windmill
aaah! Do you grow nellie kelleys?
has lickety been on yet
somebody told me they're a passion fruit from Australia or NZ and that's my name!
our paddocks are green at the moment and we have a vege garden as well and we have nelly kelley passionfruit vines which get very full
no list eman but check the log for lists of letters
posa
too funny! I've never tasted one...
sorry
passionfruit is yummy - when we went to the states, I took a whole box of them for my father in law, and they let us through customs (in hawaii) with them- I was amazed, it would never happen here
1/3 of words, but not much more in sight
I have 122 left lol
I wonder if I could post you some
I'm surprised; in Miami they have sniffer dogs and you get busted for an apple!
we have very strict restrictions on fruit entering our country
are they black like regular passion fruit?
I told them what the box contained , I was very open about it and they didn't know what they were and let me through
France seems to only care about genetically engineered seeds!
have you tasted passionfruit?
my husband does the food shopping and I'll ask him to bring home one of the black ones and I'll describe what the inside looks like
roame
they have a dark purply skin and are yellow with black pips inside
I'll describe it next Monday when he gets back (it's his Mon AM chore) and you'll tell me if it's a nellykelley!
I love having a fruit named for me LOL
At the moment our gooseberries and mulberries are starting to appear
passionfruit have various varieties which are very similar but some are nicer than others
I lovemulberries, but can't seem to find a bush (tree? shrub?) here to plant. I have plenty of space
hi Ruby & Sandy
we have two varieties , a weeping mulberry and the normal one- I make jams and pies from them or we have them with icecream
gm lynxxxx; we are talking about passion fruit
Mulberry tree - huge - messy!
ooh, yum
its ok on the property as there is plenty of room here
Again Ruby! I think you are too chicken to actually try one
I guess the dogs would make purple foot prints in the house....
*blushing* ruby the chicken lady
no they don't as the trees are a long way from the shed!! we haven't built our house yet LOL
all of the peonies have collapsed over night!
Will they bloom again soon?
Good morning all!
no, only once a year!
hi Sally
Good morning, Sally!!!
they are the ephemeral stars of the garden
All quiet at home ruby?
What a disaster!
today the white one is opening; there are only 3 flowers, but they're the size of dinner plates
yes, he got calmer yesterday, but is a bit stroppy today already, so it probably won't last
I don't think I have ever seen one - I don't know a lot about flowers
I will try to post a photo I took last year
the scent is lovely and more subtle than roses which can be a bit cloying
Seriously, ruby, have you thought of speaking to your doctor about him and his anger?
Peonies are like huge multi petalled roses - very feminine fowers
I've tried, but he is always charming with his doctors and I come off like the queen bit**!
(not in the grid)
lol ruby
hmmpphh Tell them about him running around with a rifle for days
I was thinking maybe some medication would calm him down.
we would probably get deported!
I made him put it away as the housekeeper is here today and I didn't want her to get freaked out!
Wise move.
I'd slip the dog's prozac into the Campari.
omg this sounds serious
there remain about 20 fish, so, once we get the pond nets (thanks, sally), hopefully we'll have a breeding population if they're not all girls
Was thinking the same myself, Haz, though I didn't remember the dog was on Prozac.
good plan, haz, like my friend who used to put pohypnol in her husband's scotch!
excellent suggestion Haz, goodmorning
Good morning/evening all!
Max, the autistic one. It has really helped HIM
And hallo Haz!
rohypnol*
you have fish ruby?
Hello! You just need something to take the edge off. Husband once accidentally dosed himself with cat sedatives, he was very surprised at how effective they were.
lol, don't ask, sandy!
we had about 300+ until a gorgeous heron decided that this was his favorite restaurant
Had him purring in no time. did they?
and just how did he do that Haz?
raofl
I am confused....what type of fish Ruby?
What did he give the cat in place of the sedative? :-)
He had intended to take something for itchy skin or something, didn't look properly at what he was lifting from the shelf - hey presto, one drugged man.
Hello.
That'll teach him to read labels.
hi Infernal
hello herin, we're talking about cat sedatives, difficult husbands, missing birds, the usual! how are you?
Vets can't be bothered to visit doctors, they have a nasty habit of treating themselves, even giving each other stitches when necessary.
*giggles at Mr Haz on cat sedatives.*
we had goldfish, started from "feeders,", 23 of them and over 8 yrs, had more than 300!
that is too funny, haz!
meow to him!
wow , we had some coy in our dam but the kookaburras got them
Haz my friend was told by her vet that they use human drugs on dogs. Saves her money getting human drugs
haz, that is very funny
what exactly is a kookaburra? I know the word, but have no idea of the animal
herin, it depends on the drugs. Not all drugs are licensed for animal use, but there is a lot of crossover.
I do the same with Max, although his vet didn't know about prozac for autism (or autistic dogs, for that matter)
I got the idea from reading Temple Grandin and it certainly helped him get over his excessive timidity
Kookaburra is also a kingfisher - be glad you don't have them there Ruby. And they would laugh at your husband and his shotgun!
Strictly speaking, doctors are not permitted to prescribe for animals (or do anything to them) - or that's the rules here, anyway.
for a while, I gave my husband xanax but he stopped taking it.
here, too, but my MD will prescribe anything I ask for
yes Ruby, the kookaburra is the famous laughing bird of australia
this heron is enormous, wing span about 4 feet!
Haz the ones that cross over and she has to use cost a small fortune at the vets
Ruby, get your husband to get the rifle out for the heron
not our herin of course
I don't understand, herin, are you blaming the vet because your friend needs to buy drugs for her own use?
and visits to the vet cost 3 times as much as visits to the doctor!
I think the heron is a protected species though they shoot anything in France seemingly
Yes, it's so that we vet wives can sleep in silk sheets and dine on caviar every evening.
they are definitely protected here and guns are pretty strictly controlled, not like in the US!
Ok let me start again as I have confused my self.
Ah, yes, Ata and FM were saying as much the other day.
You've certainly confused me!
how about caviar and eggs? Sounds like a well-balanced breakfast to me
after this grid, anything is confusing....
Just had scrambled eggs on toast (no caviare though).
breakfast is my favorite meal
we have some rifles although guns are very strictly controlled here. We need to be able to put down an animal here and there and they are locked in a very strong steel box
my husband keeps his rifle, loaded but not cocked, in the bedroom. Uh oh..... lol
Breakfast is my favourite meal too , Ruby
omg Ruby, that sounds scary
on weekends we eat eggs and suasage etc.
There is a particular antihistamine or antibiotic that she has the doctors prescribe for her (as the doctors in her area or shaddy) that she uses for the dogs. The vet was kind enough to tell her this as the quanty she needs for the dog is very expensive at the cost she needs
in London, they served baked beans with the eggs and sausage and it was wonderful!
Is that legal, ruby? Here, if you have a gun I believe you must keep it unloaded and locked up (and the ammo locked up)
I'm sure it's illegal, but would you like to tell him? hahah
I like muffins with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce with a bit of bacon on the side
Oh I wouldn't need to. I would simply apply what my husband calls "that look" :-)
that sounds wonderful, sandy. The french just eat bread in the AM
Haz it is because this dog is so highly allergic to every thing and has so many problems. He is a walking vet bill.
our eggs are fantastic as the chooks wander free around the farm and the eggs are so fresh
Here too sandy. The yoks are so dark it looks as if I have coloured them.
my friend's boxer is like that: she got bitten by a tick at age3 and has limped badly ever since.
I thnk I would find it impossible to sleep in the same room as a loaded rifle or gun. I am afraid that it would find it way to the bottom of a lake
sorry, yolks
I would be scared too
I guess I'm used to it
our yolks are soooo yellow
Ruby this dog is the wonderful product of inbreeding
the "farmer eggs" here are so much better than any egg I ever had in the US!
Max, too, stay away from black chows!!!!
but he is gentle and handsome, just weird
American eggs are palest yellow
Haz I hope that cleared up any confusion
I'll look for the peony photo for Sandy now
I think Haz is just finishing her second helping of caviare.
Must just check on something, brb
snort
one thing I really noticed in the US was the paleness of the butter - our butter is so much yellower here
Infernal, and most probably the 'human' medication is under government subsidy hence it being much cheaper
yellower ...hmmm....is that a word...I think not
have to go and rug the horse and feed it bbl
Yes it is because as I said the doctor there is shady
It helps that she has vet nurse training. I love this dog of hers but yessh.
Animal drugs have to go through a whole different licensing procedure and when new drug companies start making a new one, they have to bear the cost - and then pass it onto the consumer.
That is true Haz. She has spent $1000's on Vet BIlls.
Her choice, of course.
I think she uses the human stuff only on anti histimines. Poor dog had Parvo
On another note Lynxx you cold?
I'm OK tonight, heating is on but not cranked up
I'm trying to change the icon to peopnies! Where is my DIL when I need her? She did it zip zip zip
time to make lunch, will try again later ((ladies))
peonies* usual poopy typing
Heating on jumper on Socks on
bye for now ruby
Bye, ruby.
Bye Ruby
maybe she'll come back.....
some lovely words in the grid tonight
Freezing cold here
Are you thinking of the ad6/21. Thoughts of him are keeping me going...
I like the big Ps too
must disappear for a bit, BBL
Bye lynxxx.
I am back
Hello again, sandy.
haz, is it really bad if you start a puzzle and don't finish it?
It's just the worst thing that can happen. The skies will turn dark and you'll never be happy again.
you mean, I may be "Smote"
I think it just means that you drop places in rankings but since few people know where you are, and few people care about rankings, I'd just do what you need to do and forget about it.
I figured as much
You'll be smote and people will talk about you behind your back. 'That sandyloo started a grid and didn't finish it. What a fader!'
hehehe
Sandy how many horses do you have?
Herin, we had two but last week we had one put down. -that was sad- We have one old boy at the moment and I am looking for another now
:( How old?
the one I have now is 25 but he is fit and I ride him- he is a great horse and won lots of trophies in his younger years- now we can let anybody ride him and he loves kids and is very safe
Right, I'm going to take a break from this. Back later.
seeya later haz
wow. I remember someone having an old horse they used old footy socks to keep his legs warm
Later Haz hope I haven't offended you
lol, he is in a stable at night and is very well looked after and has a sheep for a friend at the moment who never leaves his side
awww best buddies, how sweet
they are soo sweet and last time the farrier came the sheep stayed right by his side the whole time and I was able to catch him and he had his feet done as well\
do sheep often attach themselves to other animals? including humans
the do if they dont have a companion
A sheep?
they are a herd animal and we had two, but some evil dogs got onto the property and killed one-
We had a ram once that did have a companion but it fell in love with my husband and used to follow him around and jump in to his car when he got home
the horse is going to be a much better protector too!
lol - lucky husband!
it started to butt us all and got quite dangerous so we gave it away to someone who had six females
there's a story to dine out on
never a dull moment here
When I was about 3 my dad got chased by a goat
funny, herin but it is so scary to be chased by anything (except a cute guy)
That goat had big horns and was a big old billy goat
And I don't know how I remember this 30 years later
that would be so scary - we have a rooster at the moment which has just started to be aggressive so it will be in the pot soon
My Aunt did that when she had a farm
you kill them when they get aggressive? why do they get aggressive?
you have to be fairly heartless with things sometimes and roosters can be vicious things (too much testosterone) and they can be dangerous for children
and sandys
as they mature that is when they get aggressive - some dont but many of them do
Because it is a farm and you need to eat.
lol lyn, you are not kidding and I am scared of them when they get like that - I carry a whip with me if we have them
its not really a farm just a little rural property
And otherwise I am sure your chooks have a lovely long life!
you would be surprised though at the amount of food we supply ourselves with
My mum and dad had chickens for eggs.
and I am sure the chooks are not kept in cages as in NB's ic**
the chooks have such a good life and we get rescue chooks from the batteries - when we get them they cant walk or peck the ground and have very few feathers - in a couple of months they look fabulous and lay lots of eggs
people can eat without killing animals, Herin, of course :) interesting though. I don't think I could do that.
awww Sandy you get the ''reject'' chooks
maybe so nboy, but we don't choose to be vegetarians - I have a daughter who is a vege and has been since 10 years old
whoops, my message got eaten, I think. But Herin, you can eat well without killing anything, of course.
we give the animals here a great life , better than they would normally get and we love them
Choose not to choose to buy meat that is ethical.
not evil roosters tho
Any lists?
I respect everyone's choices
gran, there are lists of clues in the chog
Thanks
we never kill our chooks only the roosters if they get dangerous
roosters got those big claws?
they have huge spurs on their feet which is what they aim at you, if you turn your back on them thats when they strike
we do have some really nice roosters which will not 'go to god'
I just got a custom made pizza
lol herin, what's on it?
um meat and bbq sauce and peri peri
Crust Pizza
Smoked Ham, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Chicken Breast Fillets, Ground Beef & Bacon, on a BBQ base with mushroom and feta and peri peri sauce
you are making me hungry and it will be dinnertime here soon - I have made a nice pasta with smoked salmon, baby tomatoes, capers and asparagus
Nice that does sound wonderful
O is it AUs Salmon?
tasmanian
my favourite
and a bit of goats cheese from west aus as well
Good Tas is the bomb
of course add a nice west aus chardonnay
you know I love Tasmanian food
Did you see the NYE spread from Tasy?
I remember your pic of a lovely looking spread
what is NYE?
New Years Eve this year?
yes that was it!
That was Tas stuff. Pigged our self silly
are there any lists up???
no lickety.
i hope lickety knows how much I suffer when he has no list!!
sandra there are lists of clues in the chog
Sorry to gross you out Nancy. I respect that you are a Veggie and I hope you respect the fact that I eat mostly meat even if you don't like it
thanks
Can you tell me where to find the chog? Thanks.
go to the little icon to the right which says "view entire chat log" then scroll through it
Oh, you mean "chat log" - I know how to do that and usually find the list under Germlinn's profile but it's not there today. Do you know who has it listed?
no list yet but a few lists of clues in the chog
is it a public holiday today in the east?
no
think he is working
herin , do you watch Masterchef?
sadly yes
lol, we love it!
it is educational , herin!
That Joanne needs a slapping based on all shows. I know that you are in WA so I wont spoil it. I will leave it at that.
helps you to be the perfect little partner producing wonderful gourmet treats for the beloved
we will look forward to seeing tonites episode
Sandy I used to work in a kitchen. I watch the stupid show as it is like a train wreck you can't look away
hi all
Hi Carlee
I imagine that working in a kitchen is hell and hard work
hi carl
morning babblers
hi nan
Hi Nono
morning herin, sandy...nono
It is hard work but gees you save a stack of cash on doubles
Sandy when I worked Lunch and dinner shifts as doubles it was great
what is a double?
when you work both Lunch and dinner
ok, you must get extra money with the hours I guess
Means you get about 3 hours in the day down time. The down time was spent sleeping on the lumpy comfy couch in the staff room
pardoned
reiras
\whoops and sorry but Im sure I gave nothing away
i cannot get that pa8
pa8 the Surfers one?
hmm , I am working on that clue, thanks lyn
got that thanks lyn
now one more pa8 to get
the other one is a send-up, Like Dame Edna is of a suburban housewife
Clues are up
got it thanks , that saved me lots of frustration
Lickety. Thank you
Hi Lickety, thankyou
YAY LICKETY
Thanks Lickety
hello again
hi Nono!
I tried to change my icon to peonies for sandy, but, as usual, it didn't work.
Hello No No!
hi lynxxxx
I wish my DIL would come back; she made it look easy
I am sure she can Google them Ruby
but mine were special!
thanks ruby, I will google peonies - I cant change my icon at the moment due to computer confusion
just had a look , they are gorgeous and beautiful colours too!
hi Ruby, sorry sort of concentrating on the grid
thank you for the lovely pa8 clues!!
now I only have 102 to go! lol
my garden smells of fox this morning!
ha ruby, I have only 94
you're smarter!
lol
I got the Spanish po6! how is that acceptable?
hello hellooooo
ATa did you get my message?
hi Ata
hello hello ata!!
hi Ata and crew!!
yes! just looking at it
silverclaw's already buggered off to the far end of the house *sigh*!
American-spanish words are very common here
sandy:93 left!
why? what have you done to offend her Ata
*whispers* she has to go to the vets in an hour and two and she KNOWS
Feather time Ata
psst ruby, still 94
why is it they always seem to sence that upcoming trip to the vet?
You know you must spell v-e-t out and not say it don't you?
or is you even look at a suitcase....
Ata We have the CCD out and a about
and sily HATES the vet. Hobbit loves going!
Probably putting her cage by the front door gave it away
My cats cage is by the door they sleep in it
well I haven't yet ... I've been debating whether to go get the CCD (CAt Capturing Device) and leave it innocently lying around or nt
CCD - your husband?
I once had a cat that would fight me tooth and nail against going to the vet but once I got her there she was so sweet and lovey for the vet
sounds like my husband!
not husband! he just stands there and doesnt help!
My cat hates the vet. I have 3 Vet clinics for the brats, one for Lucius, One for Pandora's injections and one for Pandoras claw cliping
and Sily can produce a real BUrmese / Siamese howl, all wavery and anguished, just for occasions like this
brb I need coffee
shall i bring the pot back?
awwww So Silly tries to be all big and scary?
please, I have 2 sorts of cake if you would like some too
I have some chocolate coated pretzels
she *tries*. seeing as she's under 3kg in weight though ....
awww. Mine two are big lumps. Both get harnessed in the car cat cariers
anyone got some clever ways of cleaning dog bedding/cushions in Winter?
clean the dog before he jumps on them?
they are not dirty like that, just doggy smell generally.
c[_] steaming cup of coffee for you lynxxx
awww Nono
Febreeze? Do you have that stuff? It works quite well
TY Nono. Would you like a slice of ginger-beer cake or root beer cake (I recommend the latter)
I was just thinking the same thing Ata I use it all the time on the cat bed
ooohh root beer cake please!
We do - Thankyou, I'll get some
lynxx, got to the local stock feed place and see if there are any ads for horse rug cleaning, they will clean your dog beds too
our pups just sleep on towels which I wash once a week. Fortunately, neither one gets on the furniture
Please do not clean the dog with Feebrezze (head desk sad but true)
it doen't work perfectly, but it certainly helps!
see you later, lie-down time!
bye Ruby
bye Ruby
oooo I think we've just found a product that stretches round the globe!
sheesh it is cold out ther
its gorgeous here! I took pup out at 5:30 and even then I was in shorts and a tshirt
You don't have your leg irons on anymore?
a bit on the cool side here this morning but at least the skies have cleared. It should be a nice day
I do I do, but it's been set so I can have the full range of movement front to back, so it's almost like walking without it
meh?
it's still awkward, but easily doable now. I can't take pup out for long, I can manage about 40 mins so far, but that's better than nothing!
Poor luv but I am glad they at least did that
oh yes! really it's just kinda awkward rather than anything else now, and I can deal with that!
awww Ata.
My poor cat is horrified that us mean humans spoiled his fun by disposing a rather poisonous spider.
but! the physio is really really pleased, and says it's getting better as quickly as she's seen cruciates recover, so that's really good! I think in a way I was lucky to have a cast on for 2 weeks - that's not normal for ligament tears - they really must have had a wonderful chance to heal
poor Lucius!
We are so mean. It is good though that he barked at it
that's funny - my missing o was od4.4 - of course it is spelled incorrectly which is why I don't 'see' it
How did you tear it originally Ata?
I find that one hard too
walking the dog LOL
hi all
hi Boo
ACL Atalante?
yep Jean, and strained MCL
Hi everyone! Lynxx - can I get your ginger beer cake recipe? My mum is such a fan of ginger beer
but it didn't just tear all by itself walking along surely?
hi Jean
I wrecked my ACL too a couple years ago
hi Pinny
Hi Nono
Hi Boo and Espritd
Only here for a sec as I've got to rush to a job interview...
hi lyn, everyone
Best wishes
Hi Boo and Esprite and Piny
Hi Herin
Hi Pini - its really not that great but here you are...http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/ai d/607351
when I went to the Ortho and he said what happened
and I said I slipped on a muddy hillside in the Amazon Jungle he thought I was kidding
Thanks Lynxx
lol! mine was totally the other way round, everyone thought I'd done something dramatic and I slipped ona rock on a footpath
lol Espritd, if you must do it then that is how to do it!
maybe you should borrow Espritd's story Ata
I think I should :)
I never had it reconstructed though
brb I forgot to bring in my bag of art goodies from the car! gasp!

(I am just kidding you, Ruby)
not really, I'm just making it for myself! The other day I made tabouli, just for me. It's hot, and the cold dishes are a pleasure. It's his loss!
I would say so.
Good that you are doing things for you! {{Hugs}}
tabouli was fun with fresh mint, chives and parsley from the garden
I think you understand, mom!
You have to take care of yourself. First and foremost
so,hubby does not eat any creamed soups or dishes with melted cheese?!!
nope! or anything with butter
sounds like your husband would eat well with us ;)
and he is as thin as you, NB!

still plenty of time for me. :)
and then use a d i/o the n
for io6/21
I kid Sprite, I'm still more weed than man ;)
oh NB, i really need to start running, myself. stepped on the scale this morning, which was a complete mistake. i think its broken -- the hands are moving in the wrong direction! :P
Time fror me to start my day .... {{Hugs}} to all of you.
(((mom)))
Nancy Boy, you are man enough for two, no matter your size.
last pic i saw of you nb,you would have to put rocks in your pocket to hold yerself down if a breeze came up
{{Ruby}} take care
bye Mom, have a wonderful day *hugs*
Awww, Sprite! What a lovely thing to say :) and Eva, still time to join me in my challenge...;)
{{Sprite}} have a great day as well.
i may challenge myself to a 5K, but id pass out at merely the thought of a marathon!
back to the kitchen -- aaargh! see you later
good luck rubyfoo. The CD of your son is wonderful. Great music, wonderful voice.
I have some worse pictures, from thinner days than that! Hopefully now my scales will start co-operating with me - muscle is heavier than fat!
when I was still running, I did two 10K races, barely made it!
thank you, sprite, I was afraid to ask if you liked it!
you are very kind
not kind, just saying what I think of it, lol
*proud mom*
lol Eva - you and me both! guess what kind of state I was in when I agreed to do it...
a state of shock, id say! lol
I admire you runners. I couldn't do it!
lol,if i ran,the earth would shake
*wonders who sprite is looking at and calling a runner*
Nancy Boy in action and you in spirit, EvaN
Lol! the state of shock came the morning after ;) I signed up in a state of super-hero-like intoxication. The kind of drunk where you climb up buildings because you think you can jump safely from the top ;)
yes. my spirit is very active and thin. :)
crossy, I think you tried some day then! I felt it ;)
ill gladly give nb 15 kilos of my bulk lol
oh if only that were possible, crossy, then I would contribute too!
lol
you're gonna give me a complex! :)
nah, that part I would keep, grin.
LOL! Sprite :)
and I love you the way you are, Nancy Boy, you know that :)
46 words in and a great big wall
58 and not at the wall yet, but knowing it will come soon. Vowel grids are tricky!
I'm back - not as many vowel words as you think - I dont like this grid though - up to 97 though
39 here and contemplating a glass of wine to help things along ;)
making me jealous NB
good job, Momnh, and welcome back
hi, Mom! You don't have to be jealous...I can share ;)
it is 15.51 here... I will stick to water, I think ;)
9:51 am here - much to early but still jealous
oh, my sweet daughter is making me a cup of coffee! Even better.
must somehow get brain to focus on work...
or somehow get brain, period? ;) ;)
i have one in here somewhere... i used it once...
I know the feeling!
it should be as good as new, hardly ever used it...
we should switch jobs Eva ;) I can do what you do and you can spend your evenings covered in beer and the hands of horny men. Doesn't sound so bad when I put it that way ;)
as long as they are nice horny men, it sounds ok.
i did spend part of the evening having my chesticles ogled by some college-aged guys. of course, thats because i let dear fiance choose the top i wore + well, lets just say the fashion tape had to come into play to keep everything in place and decent.
woooooot EvaN, wtg :D And LOL @ chesticles. Great word.
lol Sprite! well, sometimes I am very glad that there is a big chunk of wood (no pun intended) separating me from them.
lol@chesticles LOL
hope they are not that hairy lol
oh dear Eva ;) still, college-age eh...?
they were drinking, but i think just barely. one of them had his back to me, but he kept turning completely around and full-on staring. it was amusing.
so am I, Nancy Boy :) You are precious, my precioussssss, not for everyone to have.
lol EvaN, not bad, such attention.
darn program is hicuuping on me
give it a good sudden fright, crossy, that might help
evas boobs on display are making my fingers shake i suppose lol
LOL Crossy!
theyre not on display NOW crossy! im at work. nothing titilating here. ;)
not just your fingers
sometimes I think you'd love to be in my shoes, Crossy. It is a vast irony in the life of straight men that, actually, homosexuality is the ticket to boobies :)
yaa i just monkied a co 7/36 i have never heard of;)))
wtg crossy!
like your old friends crossy
oh no - thats the cr7 sorry
its true. NB has probably seen more mammaries in his life than a straight man could dare to dream.
if I could have my pick, I'd be bisexual. The best of both worlds.
lol, when i was younger,i used to hang with a good friend of mine, who had different romantic interests that i did,it woorked great, ladies flock to him and crossy lays in wait lol
so, crossy... next time out you must pretend to be gay, so you can enjoy the sight ;)
oh, that is smart too
and he used to pick over my friends, worked all around
that's pretty interesting, Sprite. I sometimes think the same thing, since I've had some girlfriends (long story), but I don't think I'd suit being any other way
NB did the impossible -- he spied his prey and managed to turn him! ;)
I think you are right, Nancy Boy. We are the way we are, and any such change would make us somebody else.
lol, oh wow!
85 words and wondering how there can be almost as much left to find.
i am struggling at 49 in
LOL Eva. I wouldn't say I worked towards it, it was more a happy accident ;) I was relieved though. I was very much in luuurve and when I was finally forced to confess (another long story) I was pretty lucky not to get a punch in the face - let alone anything else!
you know that song? "Words.... don't come easy to me...
crossy - do you list?
not yet mnh
i try not to list till 50%
its definiately needed today - I'm even struggling with the list but have gotten up to 109
morewords is helping too
no list, usually, but I think this grid may make it necessary, lol
either way, NB my love, its a rarity from what ive heard to be able to set your sights on someone on the other team and win them!
well ya know Eva, everyone needs a skill ;)
I do believe that true love is about people, not about sexuality.
lol Nancy Boy!
ahh found the people who help rock groups set up
sprite!!!!!
interesting, sprite. that very idea is the basis of the book im reading at the moment. im interested to find out if love wins, in the end.
kje!!!!!!!!! *hugs* and a bit of shaking you because I never see you!
must be an interesting book, EvaN. I hope love will find a way.
>brain rattles*... well maybe there is a reason why! LOL
dr hook//roland the ro6/21(pl) and gertrude the groupie lol
LOL :D
how have you been?
which book are you reading, EvaN?
i do not know anything about love..all crossy knows about women is that it has something to do with chocolate
here is a great story! check it out
it is called "Trans-Sister Radio" by Chris Bohjalian
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/07/spor ts/soccer/07rhoden.html
I agree whole-heartedly with that, Sprite. Love knows no gender; love is never wrong ;)
am good! Finally out of the pit and trying to get my life back. Step by step.... very patiently.... LOL!
good for you, sprite... (((HUGS))) hang in there
thanks EvaN, wrote it down, something to read some day.
it is about a woman who falls in love with a man who, unbeknownst to her, is in the early phases of a sex change. he ends up having the operation to become a woman, and they struggle to find out if the relationship will survive. of course, there are many other contributing factors... im a little over halfway done...
crossy is being overly modest. Because crossy has a lovely wife and she wouldn't be with you if you weren't worth it.
17 years this oct,so she gets a chocolate fondue lol
a friend of mine is living through that right now, EvaN! Fell in love with a man, was living with him and found out he liked to dress as a woman. But he kept it hidden. She encouraged him to follow his heart and now he is in his 'trial' period, living as a woman. If all goes well, he will get his change operation.
they are still together and still very much in love. She never had feelings for women before, but she loves the person he/she is.
this book would be quite interesting for them, then! i love bohjalians writing, in general. im a fan of his work. but what i love most is his ability to write in several voices within the same book, as he does in this one. he writes as the woman, her daughter, her ex husband, and her new lover (both as a man and as a woman).
17 years, beautiful, crossy. And wow, a chocolate fondue. That is true love.
I must read it, and tell my friends about it too.
clue for the io6/21 please
17 years...wow. If I can cling on to Leo that long, it'll have been half my life! the better half.
sprite, i will try to remember to tell you if i still like the book once it is over. :)
hmz, don't have that one yet, only a 6/18. Will try and find it, Momnh.
please do, EvaN! I will try and ask.
lol Nancy Boy, you will. Just don't cling ;)
io6 - add a chemical to table salt
NB, you know youd better share photos with us in 17 years. ;)
io6/21 - exactly the same as the io6/18 save for a consonant in the middle.
oh just like the 18, momnh, just change the first consonant.
snap Haz, and hi
ah yes like salt - thanks haz
Hello!
and you too kje
kje, how have you been?
and sprite
and me too :P
lol, thanks
good sprite... busy, tired, but doing fine
hello everyone :)
Hello Nan
Hello, cybernan, kje.
hi
doing fine is good to hear. Busy too... tired not too great. Time to rest and relax, in between busy?
hi nan!
Half way home ... time to walk ... bbl
lol, Eva! Can't begin to imagine what I'd look like in 17 years. I'd be 36!
hi and bye Merk
bye merk
time to rest when your dead, sprite ; )
no, I will take a vaca in August.... so looking forward to that
nah, have been dead, is overrated. Now I live and rest and enjoy, much better. ;)
Nancy Boy: and when you will be 36, you will feel that you are young!
actually, in august i am taking a sail boat cruise with nrkii
really? Oh that is great! Good to hear she will be able to travel. I hope you will all have a wonderful time.
I will always be Young. It's my name :)
it should be fun... off the coast of maine
hehehe Nancy Boy, then you will always be Young x 2
co 6/24, please?
oh man. thats 17 years away for you? just another 5 years for me. *feels un-Young*
plural of co 5; a type of home
the one i have is a plural apartment, nan
plural for the home word?
co6/24 - has the infamous robotic ending.
hi cara.ee
have that, thanks -- looking for the last one
that was almost 17 years AGO for me
nearly 16 now. How can I be turning 20 soon, Eva? I'm a child!!
ty haz
TY Haz! Needed that one!
lol Momnh, age is what you feel inside.
cybernan - try my clue at 9.32.
Hello Sprite! Hello everyone!
thnx Haz
true sprite -- some days it's 30 and others, it's 90
Hello car. You're welcome.
*wondering what the robotic ending did to become infamous*
We don't like to talk about it, kje.
lol Haz
Time heals most things...
lol
lol, Kje! It showed up to all the right parties and did all the wrong things..
indeed, nan!
that sounds like fun, nancy...
must have had a helluva time, that ending
happy mo6 everyone!
hi dan!
I think at one party the ending did too many jello shots
Hello dan and ruru.
hiya ruru
the men have arrived - good morning boys
hi dan2 and ru
ahem. Mom ;)
*mumbles something about silly british people with their capitalised names for da4*
right now Edna is giving sprite the fish-eye
sorry NB - you fit in so well with us girls
*hangs head in shame*
Nancy Boy was representing the men very adequately
ohhhhhh Dame Edna! So sorry, possum.
lol Mom! I was protesting on behalf of Crossy as well ;)
Crossy has nothing left to prove ;)
bbl, must run.... great to see you sprite!
and you, kje! Wanted to say that I love your icon. Have fun!
some very strange words my monkeys are finding today
bye kje
isn't that the truth, Momnh!
mo 8, please? -- have the first 5 letters, but can't monkey the ending
mo8 - the complete opposite of stereo lives.
I dont have it sorry
It's the plural for the mo6 that follows.
ies
beautiful clue, Haz, thank you
great clue haz - thanks
nice clue. crazy word!
ty haz
You're welcome.
*le sigh* had to move my space heater, per doctors orders, and now i feel so chilly in the office! may have to wear long sleeves through the summer. :(
OMG - did you see all the pa's listed - where the heck are they???
What has your doctor got against the heater?
EvaN, why did the doctor order that?
just don't look, Momnh, and enjoy the game ;)
oh no, Eva! why was that? :(
dunno if you all remember my complaining of a rash across my ankles. finally went to the doc last week + she thinks thats whats causing it... going back in a few weeks for a biopsy to be sure, but she seems fairly confident. gave it some long, medical name i have never heard of...
So, the infamous robotic ending didn't have anything to do with it? You had me worried.
i dunno... maybe the ending DID have something to do with it... *looks suspiciously at robotic ending*
ah ok! Well, if that rash isn't anything worse, it is good news, right? Even if you have to dress warmer. You could make wrist warmers, they really help.
okay - i am trying to keep my eyes off the chog but what is up with the "infamous robotic ending "?
rashoid pyromatixia, Haz
We used to blame most things on FM. New thinking is that the infamous robotic ending might be the culprit after all.
hi dobie, welcome to the chog, grin. We know how to lure people in, don't we.
its no HUGE issue if i have to part with the heater, but i am cold-blooded by nature, so it will make my time here much more uncomfortable -- especially since the guy who sits across from me has his fan running all day and wouldnt dare do something nice for someone else and turn it off.
that guy is an ass, EvaN. But take note of the wrist warmers. No kidding, they help.
ah i see ... so it IS a conspiracy!
i may need wrist, neck, and ankle warmers...heh
jmd - I used the term 'infamous robotic ending' for 'oid'. kje wondered what the ending had done to become infamous....
hey haz -- has anyone looked into the possibility that FM unleashed the infamous robotic ending? thus rendering everything still her fault??
You could be onto something, EvaN. FM could well be to blame after all. Good thinking.
now that is good thinking, EvaN. We must investigate this.
we know how much she wants to be rid of the blame. it would be just like her to unleash such a thing...
keep wanting paranoid
I think the lack of space heater has rendered your brain cells extra eager to work. That doctor may be smarter than we think.
I know FM well and she would have nothing to do with an oid ending..period..
I know FM even better and I wouldn't put anything past her.
lol
I'd blame FM, definitely
FMoid running wild. Oo4.
FM has ruru fooled with her feminine wiles...
Ata! *hugs*
See? Ata thinks so as well.
perhaps FM is under the influence of a 'viroid'
Could the new cleaner be a viroid in disguise? (Must look up viroid)
a toxoid viroid, methinks
the closest she has come to oid is saving a white somoyoid
Une! :) I should play at this time more often.
samoyed
hey, sprite! :-)
...er.. I was making a joke une..
samoyoid, today
i figured, as soon as I typed it! LOL
i believe i heard about viroids on an old star trek episode (or perhaps i was hallucinating)
hallucinating, or maybe it was the viroids making pictures in your brain
and on that note, i am off to a meeting. enjoy OIDing FM whilst im gone, and hopefully i will return soon. :)
so, ruru, any particular reason you're not posting a new pic of your canine sweetie?
une has rafaviroid
sigh . . .
We'll probably have to avOID her for a while. She'll get stroppy.
photo challenged <<<<<
good luck, EvaN, and I hope the meeting room is warmer ;)
I have some coming though..
p's done -- whew
kudos on the moonlight walk, haz!!
Bye EvaN.
cool, ruru!!
oh no, no avOIDing FM. She is way too cool for that.
congrats, nan!!
and get haemorrhoids
Trust Ata!
she's probably deVOID of viroids
no - she rubs it in - there are no p's out there other than a daddy a fruit and a check
Thanks, Une, it's getting closer...
come on, Ata, you only say that because you found a thingmahgic that hides yours ;)
pa8, mom: heaven, Eden

thought we would have called her up by now
Probably hunkered down plotting her revenge.

today's chog is rated GP for great punning.

its too big?
because it is too big, I am afraid
lol dobie
had to smile when I monkeyed sp 5 -- reminded me of the conversation about what jill wanted ruru to wear to the NW babble meet
that's right mom
It's either FM's fault or your picture is too big.
too big. but I recognise the beach!!
lol nan, indeed. Ruru would look so good in it.
yes, indeed it is. who is FM? it's good to have a scapegoat
that will slow down the site too - try this: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ or http://www.shrinkpictures.com/creat e-a vatar/
FMitch. When things go wrong, she's usually to blame.
FM is a great, dear babbler. Whom we blame for everything. Just because.
Vazon Bay, Ata
yes! Its a beautiful beach! My fav on Guernsey I think!
it is a beautiful pic, though, ggirl
back from my meeting! :)
we blame FM cos she's to blame!
now that was one short meeting, EvaN! Are you warmed up now?
That was a quick meeting!
ty Mom, i'll have a go. it's the first time i've managed to use one of my own photos rather than one i've picked up on the web
sadly, no. meeting room is no warmer than my cube. took a wrap with me, though...
a wrap is a good start!
my favourite is Jaonnet, Ata
I really like the photo, ggirl

scwabby!
hello scrabller!
scrabbler even, too!
Elegant is ill?
hey scrabbs, me too
Hi EN
hi scrabbler
radon
What are you ill with, FV?
she is scrabbs, slight fever body ache and voice is gone
rats
Radon poisoning?
not me ill too, me at lunch too
Aha. I have a med student today but she disappeared. I wondered how I was going to play my games if she was here.
nm, I'll go back to lurking now....
could have been a whole new branch of her education
the quiet is starting to freak me out a bit..will have to get her better soon
I just scheduled my first colonoscopy--benefit of turning 50.
Is Elegant a chatterbox?
so scrabs, i wanted to thank you for urging me to go to the doctor about that rash on my ankles.
Oh, I get to have one next week. I can't wait.
my wifes 2nd colonscopy is coming at the end of the month
What is it, EN?
Gail, mine is Friday, June 18th. I just want it over with.
wifes is the 18th lol
*hoping EN does not have psoriasis*
Oh, so is mine. At 8 AM, I think. I don't mind the test, it's the prep I hate.
i dont know the name she used, but basically, she thinks it is because of the space heater i have under my desk at work. i have a biopsy scheduled for later this month, just to be sure.
the first one hurt her
She + I should chat on the 17th as we "prepare" for the big event
Hey, me too. I wanna be in on the prep party!
I went through a bowel prep before my last abd surgery--yes, I thought I would die before I even had the operation.
Interesting, EN
and i have to get her a jug of peglyte
Gail + me + Elegant = Poopy Party on 17th=18th.
lol
I mean 17th + 18th
she is dreading it
Yep, I will bring the jello.
she told me some story about female irish sheep herders or something who would spend all day outside in the cold + wet, and when they came inside, they would sit in front of the fire, and they would develop these similar rashes... thats what she thinks it is.
we don't get routine colonscopies here - just an occult blood test
a rash that only irish sheep get?? how odd
must be the brogue lol
65 left, bbl after lunch
maybe im turning into a sheep, crossy... baaaaaaaaaaaaaa
lol

asea
any idea what the name of such a thing is, scrabs?

Oops. Nope, EN.
oo4 is also in the grid today..
Don't feel bad, I had a form of pneumonia once that only pigs get.
get some of the good strong hydrocortizone cream
i wish i had asked the doc to write it down. would be very interested to look into it. she seemed sure a steroid would fix it, but shes not gonna treat it until after the biopsy, just to be sure.
crossy, tried it. worked the first time, useless after that.
So I apologize for using a grid by using a grid word. Good move, Scrabbler.
the good strong rx stuff?
well, no. thats why i went to the doc, but shes thinking steroid instead. :)
and it is on your ankles?
Hydrocortisone is a mild potency steroid. Next step = mid-potency.
yup. just the front.
do not wear tube socks..wear tennis or bootie socks
my wife had this
i dont wear socks at all in the summer.
hey all!

L8R Dr Scrabs!
bye scrabbs!
hello everybody
I think you are all really brave to have colonoscopies!!!! I was scheduled for one last year but "back3ed" out, just couldn't deal with it. And I'm a lot older
hi ruby
i fear what my fiance will be able to deal with when he gets older -- he has to take a bag of ice to the dentist, just to get a cleaning!
hello science geek!
Colonoscopies are not too bad: should try one in conjunction with an Endoscopy; now that was interesting
only bad when they hit a twist in the bowel
that makes you sit up and take notice!!
Hello, all. People are just to anal about colonoscopies. ;-)
lol too funny judi
Pucker up and take it like a real man.
just afraid of cameras is all lol
camera shy!
wonder i we can order 8x10 glossies...
Ewww.
I am supposed to get one this year and I keep conveniently forgetting to make the appt
we cant do that here science..if you cancel one,it is 9 months till the next
Hi all....how is the grid?
it is a killer flask
just dont relish the idea of mooning a bunch of people
Well, Flask - aside from people talking about their personal plumbing issues, it's not too bad.
dont worry they get paid for it lol
ok....am not gonna bother starting....lol
hahah flask
anyone have a clue for the last da 5/14?
the grid is tough enough that we started talking about 3 babblers and their upcoming colonoscopies instead lol
don't have any da5's :(
What would ever make someone decide they wanted to be a proctologist? Suddenly wake up one day and say, "Gee! Arses are so fascinating. I want to make it my life's work!"
more fun, right?
dollar signs judi
Welcome, patients. Step into my orifice.
if they could make 300 grand a year watching flowers grow,im sure they would be doing that instead lol

Don't question why she needs to be so free She'll tell you it's the only way to be She just can't be chained To a life where nothing's gained And nothing's lost At such a cost There's no time to lose, I heard her say Catch your dreams before they slip away Dying all the time Lose your dreams And you will lose your mind. Ain't life unkind? Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you...

pa 7 = pa4 (prefix) plus Spanish for two
pa + I ***e the short bus + circle letter + plural
short bus here means someone in special education, ruby
I ***e a horse
pa 7 = pa4/4 (change last vowel) plus Spanish for two
pararide

I give up on the p's
mm,spanish...not much of that gets north of the border;((
and take out that middle vowel
they are insame ruby;((

listen,listen,mnh is whizzing...
mmmm.... my perfume smells yummy. its rather dangerous to wear scents that smell like food. ;)
Hello everyone. How's it going today?
very dangerous...
I'm in need of a nap. Dh is having one after 2 doctor appts. this AM
pretty good Nef..How about you
Ok much better now - only kidding - had to go get keys for company car - will be on road next 2 days so wont see all you lovely folks
the one im wearing right now is called "dessert absynthe" -- the scent is described as a lemon sugar cookie with hints of anise. to me, it smells like black licorice with hints of citrus... so thats about on target.
I am going to go into babble withdrawals
mmm absinthe
it sounds edible, EvaN
yes we will be thinking of you MNH
first run through and I still have 35 days left this could be a LONG night
really - are you happy eva
days?
it seriously should be edible. it smells SO good.
i have another called "natali" which is described as a chocolate orange. and another called "black jack" which is musky with a hint of dark chocolate.
your this close to a neck nuzzling....
Words, I knew it would be a bad night lol
my goodness EvaN if you got bacon imagine how he would react lol
heh, im sniffin my own wrist every coupla seconds. ;)
anyone needs clues before I get back to work
ohhh could I have a clue for the ad 6/12 please
EvaN, we have different flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegar from a specialty shop near us that are similar to your colognes: Pomegranite Balsamic vinegar, dark chocolate balsamic, dark chocolate balsamic all tast *REALLY* good on ice cream!
and the best part is that these perfumes are solids, like chapstick, so i can take them with me + reapply as necessary. :)
nm I've got it
OK
who makes them Eva
http://www.etsy.com/people/themorbidth emerrier

could I have a clue for the em6 please
I go for the basic phone with basic service in case of emergency
same here,if i want a computer ill go home and use one
ohoh, one of my most frequent apologies is in the grid today! oo4/5
I have an iphone already which is the best you could get 3 months ago so I'm not interested in a new one, 21 months left on the contract
em + not even + not out
if i got a 600 dollar phone, first thing i would end up doing is dropping it in the lake
ty dan
insurance is the only answer to that one. I have hundreds of tracks and 5000 photos on mine, couldn't manage without it
the phone rings at work all day with complaining people - the last thing I want to do is get on the phone when I leave. Only have phone in case kids need to get ahold of me
can I get a clue for the lower right O? Monkeys unlucky.

I love doing the grids, but I love filling in the final word just as much. I can only take so much challenge in one day.
these last 3 days have been tough grids
Yes, we've had some tough ones off and on the last while. See you in the morning.
I wont be here next 2 days - at a seminar in Mass

apparently part of Jobs's demo failed because of internet connectivity - someone in the audience yelled out "try Verizon!"
payday
did you get the pa7 matches?
does anyone have a clue for the first pa 7/36 ols
only one y match
yes, got all of them
back to trty and finish the evil grid
boo, change the last vowel on the 8 before and drop the end.
that was a mistake. Didn't mean to put in that word with two y's
there are pa7s *sigh*
4 pa 7's
how is that possible LOL
start with the easy one - plural of a fruit
ty amelu
yw.
got that one, its the others .... :)
the other 3 are very similar to each other... just when you think you've monkied every combination, Whoop! There it is...
hmmmmm!
aha got one
the next 7 starts with the pa4/5
the other 2 have a different second vowel
same first 3 letters, and same 5th & 6th letters.
and I did that 2wice in one post! *smacks forehead*
the pa8 is like heaven, or eden, or in my case the beach
you're excuused, you're helping!
ditto here mom. beach is <3
and the other pa8 is farcelike, making fun of ... (pl)
lol mnh,i live 10 min away from the worlds logest freshwater beach and avoid it like the plague
the other pa8 is the plural of a satire
I like 10 mins from a beach and practically live on it
ahhh - thats OK - I have a lake 10 minutes away with a nice beach but too many people so I avoid that as well
too many citiots;/
I like that word citiots
oh come here you annoying last pa7!
we coined it,here in wasaga for the summer ones and in collingwood for the winter variety
the winter citiot has more money but is ruder and less likely to spend it,while his summer cousin has less, but will share, but then will destroy everything around him
which, ata?
dunno! LOL. I got 2 which are the same apart from the fourth letter
Ata, try the pa4/5 and ad the do4/5 -a vowel
change the last letter of the 2nd one.
hey everybody!!
you are missing the pa4/4 + same as last 7

hi wht
Like a log thanks Mom
ata hurt her knee a while back
What happened Ata? And you are doing better now? Did you need rest or surgery?
doing better now :) tore my ACL and hurt my MCL in my right knee. joy!
had a cast from ankle to backside for a fortnight, since then had a brace down my leg
I need to go - will not see you all until Wed night at the earliest *missing you already tears* - happy babbling
By mnh
bye Momneeds
bye, Momn
tc mnh
I'll be down in wht's state
Ata, sending you lots of healing thoughts and prayers. I fell off a ladder cleaning gutters in the mid-90's and have had surgery on both MCLs (one repaired and 1 removed. Ruined my hip-hop jazz dancing career
Where abouts mnh? You know we have Internet here, you might be able to get to Babble. :^)
ouch ouch!!
I dont have a laptop. Westford Regency Conference Center. 2 day seminar - so staying there as there will be a dinner/banquet tomorrow night and not up to driving 1 1/2 hrs home especially after a few cocktails.
Now I can enjoy myself and crawl to my room
if needed that is
Well, there is something to be said for that.
Some conference centers have computers that you can use if you're desparate, Momn.
I work right down the road in Littleton.
This is true - we will see how the withdrawals go
need one of those new i-pads
we can do the wave
those are weird
Ata, will you need surgery on your knee or is there a way to avoid it now?
anyway, I do need to go - daughter has a game - bye all *poof*
bye Momn
the only reason i will not buy an i-pad is it does not accept e-pub files
phantom: sayonara, papoose
what are e-pub files?
clue for last sp 5
Hey, one of my favorite Celtics is in the grid today.
e-pub files are the standard format ofr all e-books that are lent from libraries
it is the best format for all e books
Don't know if it the last, but the one sp5 I have is animal droppings.
uses half the space of pfd,s also
oh really! how sily - so those cheap readers are better for those? Dymocks have them for about AUD200 here
but ill spare you my e-book reader rantings and ravings
kobo is the new basic reader
And there is a cr4 synonym for sp5. I hope that isn't an indication of how the grid is today.
and i recommend it for starting out if all you want to do is read
very basic and user friendly
yes, wht, it is.
this grid is evil
I am sorry to hear that about the grid. But I don't care. I am in such a good mood today that not much could wreck it.
Hello all
Hi Jilli
TY Cross for the advice
very evil!
hi Jilli
I'm liking the grid
firebirds! and last word was a plural
Yay for Ata!!!
wtg Ata
hi jilli!
yaaa for ata!!
that was hard work!
I'm glad to see Lickety's back! We struggled last night with no lists -- Gremlin was absent too. All hail morewords -- I now have 57 to find.
YAY ata!!!
YAY, Ata!!!! WTG!!!!
Go Ata! woo-hoo!
My daughter's wedding was yesterday, and in spite of the rain, everything went well.
Oh, I'm so glad it went well, wht.
It poured on my wedding day (June 14, 1947) but I was told that was good luck.
How was the dance with her?
How lovely WHT!
It rained for her bridal shower - that was the storm that flooded Rhode Island.
It rained every time my wife and daughter went took the dress to the seamstress.
It rained as we were leaving for the rehearsal.
And it rained for the wedding. So I hope she has a good store of good luck established.
Did the skies cry for you (losing your daughter)?
The weather forcast yesterday morning included a tornado watch. All of a sudden, rain didn't seem so bad.
LOL! I bet!
Oh absitively and posolutely, wht!
(That referredt to lots of good luck)
You guys had bad tornados yesterday I heard, lives lost too I was very sad to hear
No, the sky's weren't crying because I wasn't crying. I haven't lost her. And we like his family and they live a mile from us, so now we have gained some new friends.
Nef, I think you lose sons, not daughters, when they get married.
That's good, wht. It must be a good sign then (as jilli said)
Lucky you, wht!
My daughter and her fiance did all the planning for the wedding. I happy for her and I was so proud to see what a good job she did, and how thoughtful she was.
ah, jilli, I found that out when my son married. :-( My daughter claims she doubts if she will get married; and definitely won't bear children (due to family health histories)
That's so nice, wht!
Maybe there will be some genetic marvels ahead, nef.
we can only hope, jilli. Although I keep reminding DH that his M.S. hasn't been anything like his mothers'
There are so many improvements in the treatment of it today
A heredity aspect to MS? Has he had his jugular checked? (That new theory).
Could someone please clue for that 3rd row, 4th column A? Just the letter count, please. Thanks
ar4.5
ad4/5 I think, nef
Would if I had it.
lynxx is right, sorry.
hi again does anyone have a clue for the pa 5/16 please
There IS a "familial" aspect of MS. For him, his mother had a 25% chance of passing it on to her child (he's the only child); but for men, there's less than a 5% chance of passing it on
ty lynxxx
sorry, kazzer, not me
pa5,16 is like the ma5.16 of the town
thanks lynxxx (and jilli!) :-)
ty lyn
never mind got it after much monkeying and bribing them with chocolate peanuts
Thanks for the info, nef.
Can anyone clue the O on the second column, second row for NBT?
I have friends (several!) with MS.

nbt.
YAY, wht! It took me 64 words to reach that point (and I needed a clue for it too)
It took me 74 words for me, nef. And I took advantage of some of the clues other's asked for.

Hi jmc

makes it tough to pay your bills, huh
Hi Jmcnrick
ty Pinny
ah who needs to pay bills! lol
i want either moody or mopey in the grid :-(
hi Mom. We are settling in to our new normal here; he does some stuff that he doesn't realize isn't safe. We had a big arguement about it this AM (or, rather, *I* got upset and cross with him. He thought *I* was over-reacting. That's the extent of a "big fight" here)
is it stuff you can discuss with the OT and PT?
{{Nef}}
may they be few and far between, Nef
OT is now done, he's having Pt and speech therapy at home, starting tomorrow
Mom, I think we've had maybe 5 "big fights" in our whole marriage of 35 years! They are few and far between
**sigh** took me 75 words to get NBT .... now to just get halfway.
wtg mom!
Oh Nef, that is wonderful. I am sure the "big fights" were just misunderstandings
thanks jmc
lol I had at least that many big fights (complete with slammed doors and throwing things) in one week with my hubby. We were sorta demonstrative. lol
took me 58 to get NBT
Hi Tea
hi mom
*smug* it took me 22
you rock, jmc
Oh jmc, I couldn't stomach that.
wtg Jmc
of course most grids i don't get nbt! lol
we've always been very compatible: what one of us doesn't do well, the other always has done great at (such as cooking and cleaning, etc)
I'm ignoring crackers at the moment so I am distracted by his blathering ;)
oh it was just the nature of our relationship. We'd be at it hammer and tongs and then one of us would crack and joke and it would blow over and we would be laughing at what we were yelling about
sounds nice nef to have that kind of partnership
Sweetie and I are like that Nef.
Oh Tea, how old is crackers?
4 almost 5 (next month)
oh, the perfect age
one of the things we did from the beginning was to "decide" to argue or fight. Most of the time when one of us was prickly, the other would say "do you want to fight?" and the first one would have to slow down and THINK about it
I'm frustrated with him today, so I am trying not to lose my cool at the moment
here, I will take him
hang in there tean!
you can ahve him, if you'll give him back potty trained.
good lord! just read up on the upcoming -phone4 and the thing does everything but make coffee!.now the big question is how much rogers(who has a monopoly on i phone servie in canada) is going to charge?
*have
what? it doesn't make coffee? *shocked look*
can I keep him until 1st grade
i-phone 4*
sure, fine by me ;)
you can visit whenever you would like.
after 17 years i have learned when to fight and when not to and to decide if the victory is worth the effot and the hell afterwards lol
no sense winning the battle,if you lose the war lol
pick your battles, eh Crossy?
indeed mom
ok, off to change another poopie butt, see you all later
the hell was always worth it to hubby and me! lol
bye tean
was reading earlier, sorry Elegant is not feeling well
bye bye Tea {{hugs crackers}}
very true, crossy. I've never been a fighter; so I'm glad DH felt the same way
not to worry mom,i have her all ensconed on the couch with all the nessasaries
poor elegant send her my best wishes
will do,she has no voice atm and her skin hurts
{{Elegant}} sending her good thoughts
(crossy, I had to snicker that you had vick on her "chests" and back!) ;-)
vicks-vap-o-rub nef
poor thing
her name is vicki btw lol
victoria
and she's a vixon?
love the smell of vick vapor rub
or torri
lovely name Crossy
okay i need to actually work for a bit bb when I get home
I got the vicks part, crossy (the cat is interrupting my typing here) but it was the "chests" that I was snickering about. I hope she feels better soon
bye bye jmc
And my dtr. just told me she has a dry socket from having a wisdom tooth pulled last Thursday. So I need to see what kind of food I can puree or if I need to go shopping first
oh that is terribly painful Nef. Bless her heart
and that is halfway for me. Off to fix supper. {{hugs}} to all of you.
WOOT! I don't HAVE to go shopping before supper. Good news for me
bye Mom and jmc
Hi, I'm back with 28 to look for.
wtg, jilli!
actually, wtg morewords.
it is a big help sometimes, isn't it?
I don't know how people can do these grids full of rubbish words without help!
yeah. I usually try to get to half way before I open Lickety; then if I still can't do it I'll go to morewords. But I'll also just go to morewords earlier -without Lickety- if I'm in a hurry
Last night dart finished quite quickly without any help (he used to do that without even the tile stats before he joined up) -- then he posted lists such as pa45456744 etc, whhich helped a bit using morewords a lot, but others finished quickly too. I'm just a dud!
I have Expert so if Lickety is up I have the list right away.
I use morewords. it is a big help
Dart is really good at this. I used to see him fly through the grid like crazy!
47 left here
It's so convenient. I guess you have a Mac, nef --?
I usually don't use morewords until I've been through Lickety's list once.
But now so many people are posting their big finds at the beginning (mo8 and the like) that it's tempting to go there right away for those big ones. I don't like to, though -- I'd rather build them from smaller words if possible.
Hi Jilli and all...Jilli how do you get Expert?
Hi SeaSpray -- you just email Lickety -- but it doesn't work with Macs.
Sorry, jilli, Dh spilt water and I was cleaning it up. Yes, I'm still on a mac
Ok, I recalled that you had to email someone but wasn't sure who. TY
Lickety invented it, Sea, and it's free.
As a Mac person, *I* think Lickety should charge for Expert! ;-) (just cuz I can't get it)
Now, now Nef...play nice lol
Meanie! LOL
I'm just jealous; not mean. I have a pc laptop, but I don't have it on there yet because DH and others use it
evenin' ladies :)
hi NB How are you tonight?
Hi NB!
hey Jilli, Nef! I'm doing wonderfully thanks. Blooming ;) how are you both?
hey there NB!!
Blooming too, thanks ;)
hey, Peri!! I haven't seen you around for a while :)
I can tell by your icon, Jilli ;) pretty!
doing okay. I need to go fix supper soon though
missed have missed each other NB
when I am in tune with the icons for a change today
good to hear, Nef - it was great to see you so happy the other day! hope you're still in such high spirits :)
must have missed is what I meant to say
Haha, NB -- it's Flower Ic4 Monday.
today is flower monday and I have my periwinkle up so I am in tune with the icons for a change
rats, to the PB, hope there is choclit there
The next theme is Ikebana if anyone is interested.
Oh yes, peri, anything you like :)
what is Ikebana, jilli?
ok, I am going for the dark choclit then
Japanese flower arranging, nef -- google it!
bbl
ok, I'll google it, jilli. But DH is telling me I have to go fix supper first. :-/ I'm thrilled he's home, but being in the rehab center and hospital has changed his "hungry" clock!
bbl
bon appetit, nef and DH!
ohhh, flower ic4s...I missed the trick with that one.
NB, maybe you can find a great Ikebana for the next day too?
I'd love to see what people choose.
I'm enjoying my statement ic4 at the moment ;)
Well, it's not pretty ;)
firebirds
congrats jilli!
Thanks, Sea -- need any clues?
ohhh, well done Jill! :)
Thanks to morewords, NB ;)
congrats, jilli...can i get a clue for mo6 (not the currency) please
Lots but I will keep plugging away for awhile, I got a late start today. I may be begging for clues later.
and hello everyone
and Lickety, of course, with a big nod to Dart last night.
Hi Annie
mo6/30 is the singular of the mo8/50 -- mo**nucleosis + deceases.
thanks jilli
yw :)
still need two pa's. The last 8/50 and the last 6/30. I've hit a brick wall.
Oh, nb, I just saw your new statement ic4 -- bang on!
Hi matches!
pa8/50 is the pl of the last pa6/30, which is what Tina Fey did of Sarah Palin
so what's the other pa6/8 before that?
pa6 is a fruit

indeed
eventually you learn to tell the boss at work to stuff it,when the roads turn to a sheet of ice
anyone remember maypo?

and thats what my dog has
steve, Maypo and samoas are proper nouns, names don't work in the grid.
crossy you have snow to the extreme. What we have here is a much milder form. While i don't like it I prefer it to being in a steambath
crossy you have snow to the extreme. What we have here is a much milder form. While i don't like it I prefer it to being in a steambath

It's Faron Young time here in UK.
what's that, jac?
http://tinyurl.com/n6khfu
Watch the youtube video.
ok...going to look
4 in the morning. LOL
Hey, I know that song!!!!! it's a great oldie!
Jac ~ if it's really 4 am. go to bed! why are you awake? Although I will admit I love your excellent hints.
hi again. Minski, I've come to the conclusion that Jac never sleeps! ;-)
Minski - I will go to bed when my body tells me to, but thanks for the advice.
hi Nef ;)
Jac sleeps when her hot flushes and/oor Other Half's snoring, tooth grinding, sleep talking, twitching and truck drivin in sleep allows her to.
* koda time * brb
hi Pini (and jac) :-)
Jac had a laugh at the end of last week, though. After staying in a holiday 'villa' (a 1950s chalet with a tiled roof), Jac and her Other Half and Stepdaughter, and Other Half's neice
Jac had a laugh at the end of last week, though. After staying in a holiday 'villa' (a 1950s chalet with a tiled roof), Jac and her Other Half and Stepdaughter, and Other Half's neice
hi all
hi shdy
niece* were al packed up and set to leave. Othwer Half, who had been kicked out of bed twice in the week for snoring so loud I could hear him through my ear plugs and ended up scrunched up trying to sleep on a tiny 3-seater settee, pulled the 3 seat cushions off it just before we left to be sure no one had left anything behind lost under a cushion. That was the moment he realised it was a sofa BED.
Oh, how we (me, his daughter and his niece laughed).
hello all! SHADY!!! (((Hugs)))
hi stid
Jac, that is hilarious! How tallis he?
Stid, <<big higsback, missed you>>
Other Half is starting to smile a bit about it now, but he didn't find if funny at the time. However, his cricked neck and his bad knee are better now. ROFLOL.
Nef - he's 6 foot 2 inches and the sofa was about 4 foot long.
ok, not higs, hugs
oh my Jac! you are MEAN! LOL
oh, MY! I can imagine that he didn't sleep well at all then!
God I miss all of you
That'll 'teach him' for snoring so loud no ear plugs can block it out!
it has been sooooo long. I only just finished my year's work and have time to be online for extended periods again.
***hugs stid***
Where you been shdy?
missed my friends
working, lots
working is, I suppose, better than the alternative.
very true, stid
taking care of Dad, meeting love of life, busy
how is your excellent man, Nef? are you getting enough sleep?
ooooh. Love of Life? *sits down to hear story*
Stid - well, next time we go on holiday with both his daughter and his neice, he'll have to be sure to book a chalet or a villa with 3 bedrooms.
no big story, jist nice guy
Love of My Llife - excellent Queen song.
that's a good plan, Jac! and where will he sleep? *wicked mama look*
The Snorer is the love of my life, too. No one is perfect.
that's wonderful, shady. ((hugs)) my tom is a nice guy too. I am so lucky
sorry stid, but i have missed you
Stid - the girls sleep in the same room, which leaves me and Beloved free to be in same room or apart.
oh! we have lickety today! LOL
gosh i miss all of you!
My DH made me mad at him today; he has to learn about safety issues. He had about 4 incidents where he didn't think about his own safety today; the first one was a biggy: he came outof the house without waiting for me to assist him and using the walker to go down the 2 steps by himself. He can't find his balance and isn't safe doing stuff like that with a walker without help
LOL shady! if you miss us so much, drop a BIG word in the chog and join me in the PB!
I think you had Lickety yesterday, too. I've only had to do the stats twice since I came home from holiday.
yikes, Nef! that is NOT good. *worried mama look* shall I send you my bubble wrap supply?
mo8/50 = not stereo + expires (life ends).
Big word drop. LOL
thanks Jac -- not exactly a HAPPY word! LOL
will do my best, stidmama, with a hug, now searching
the PT therapist will be coming early tomorrow AM before I go to work at 10; so he should get a 3rd person telling him off
GOOD. the more people who tell him, the better.
Nef - nagging is good, when it has a good cause.
Unless it's ME. The more nagging that goes on, the more rebellious I become. See Red Hat Society.
jax, i missed you too
Hi shdy
hey lady
Heyas again ..
Hi Torg.
Well, I went ballistic on him this AM. I called it a big fight afterwards; but we don't do "fights" like so** people do.
hey tor!
r5, r5, where for art thou r5?
just passed halfway. could I have the two single O tiles for NBT? the upper O in the second column and the O in the fourth column that is
hey sam

os4
hey tea! (((hugs))) hey pini! *pats Koda*
;)
thanks for the OR 4
and the OS 4. KNEW they'd be babblets! LOL
Yesterday, I was psyching myself up to deal with my stepdaughter after her best friend at school's mother, who has been in a coma for about 3 months with lung cancer, had her life support turned off. Her daughter, son and husband were with her on Monday. They've turned the life support off now.
oh my, Jac. (((hugs))) hard stuff to deal with at any age
how sad, Jac
Did it when they were there, rather than when they'd gone. I wonder who give the hospital the right to do that, though?
I'm sorry, Jac - hugs
in the U.S., an advanced directive can be written telling hospitals that life support should be turned off if certain conditions are met
Holy crap, it's so f'ing cold here
I might have to go chop some wood and light the fire
Jac; *I* would want to be there if it was my family. After seeing that done many times through my 34 years of ICU; it's much better that way.
where's here, samnz
My fingers are turning purple
either the family gives permission, or, if it is felt to be a futile case, an ethics committee is called in and the decision can be made without the family's consent - the latter is almost never done in the US
New Zealand
why is it so cold sam? are you up north?
New Zealand
oh -- it s
Right down South
it's winter for you. *sends warm and sun*
hey kje
we are finally getting nice weather - a bit hot, but nice
the family also gives their preference re: how it is done, it is their choice if they want to be there, most at least want to say goodbye immediately before, and many choose to stay
welcome back for tonight, samnz
Thanks Nef, I started this yesterday but only have 70 so far
I think it's much easier for the family if they are there, kje
They call what my Dad finally died from 'The Long Goodbye'. That's Senile Demnetia in all its various forms. But I guess a coma from which no hope of life stems is just the same. You feel a warm body, even if no one seems to be 'at home' and then it goes cold and they are gone. But, at 15 or 16, when it's your Mum, I cannot even begin to imagine the pain.
I am just down to 72, thinking I will list earlier than later today
and yes, stid is right re: advanced directives or medical power of attroneys/health care agents... unfortunately, many patients in the US do not take advantage of this ability to prepare
Haha, play it safe and always wear a co6
jac, my grandmother died of alzheimers and my mIL is in the midst of it - it is so sad and hard
I need to update my own advance directive and such. It's been ten years.
that is too bad tea ((hugs)) is your husband doing okay? hard to watch a parent decline like that
that would be my preference, nef... but family's are all different, and even different members will make different decisions re: their choice to be there... it is up to them
he chooses to ignore it, so it is tough
yes. that is tough ((more hugs))
I talked to her tonight and she was mostly with it but we will see how she does on Saturday at the kids' recital
TeA - it's not nice when your parent doesn't know who you are, but, what you have to remember is that they are regressing through their life. First, you become their wife, then their mother, and then God knows who.
okay, listing with 69 to go. Just too tired to persevere further.
if my mind goes like that (dementia); I would rather be "put down" than to live without it. But I also don't believe in "mercy killing" or suicide
have you read "The 36 Hour Day", tea? it is a really good book for families of alzheimer's patients
thanks for that title kje...
yeah, towards the end, my grandmother knew who her sisters and brothers were, but not anyone else. she used to always tell me that she wishes I had met her husband, he was such a nice man. She's right, my grandfather was a nice man. She wasn't even aware at that time that I was her granddaughter.
I'll look for it, kje, thanks
what cracked me up about that was that she would tell me and my cousins, anyone who would listen, that Raina was her favorite granddaughter (that's me).
