I love your Vincent with the big ear, sandy, lol!
Phantom: lettuce
jilli have you read the blurd it is different from yours , it is about his dark side
that was his ear prior to cutting it off
it's interesting to read two very different aspects of the life of Vincent VG
Yes, sandy -- very interesting about his health problems, and everything else about the man!
he was a fascinating character no doubt! and a very talented one
good morning everybody
hi ruby
Hi ruby
hi flosey and sandy and jilli!
cher
whoops (oh, my usual great start!) sorry
is the x there to torment us?
hi ruby, our four wheeler has broken down- i have to do a lot more walking - I think I will weigh 2 stone soon if i keep this up!
I haven't used it ruby
but I'm not even half way yet
84 left here
I still have 9 bts and only 18 words.
this is an odd grid, n'est-ce pas?
I have 1, the left hand r
ah oui c'est vrai
Je pense que oui, ruby.
I have so little strength that just walking to the bottom of the garden (and back) leaves me breathless. My 88 yr old neighbor has more pep!
flosey rh 5 16
hah, jilli.
why is that, ruby?
and I have to go there because I have ripe tomatoes!!! yay!
oh, thanks diz - I tend to forget that rh possibility
lol ruby, it can't be that bad
oh ruby, lucky you
no muscles left I guess
i am trying to get the ci7
you should try riding a bike Ruby
OK on stairs, though, but still leaves me breathless. Maybe it has to do with the fractured sternum from 2 yrs ago.....
same as the GI 7
well, maybe getting those tomatoes will get you some muscles too.
how did you do that!?
gi 7 - I will keep that in mind
and soon we will have enough blackberries for me to make blackberry wine, and you are all invited!!!
how about a real clue for the rh5?
gutty
rh+sometimes vowel+British thanks
rh + *ou *hink * clue will help?
ty gremlin
thanks, diz -- never would have guessed that one.
did it again, sorry
got that thanks
sandy, sounds like a tank for holding water, change third letter to double cons
I used to make creme de cassis from the black currants, but I don't even like it
thanks for the ci, flosey
ty diz, and grem for rh
blackberries here are just ripening too.
yw jilli
don't forget the GI is the same
got it thanks flo
thanks diz
yw sandy

Ruby, how did you hurt your sternum
first crop of raspberries (crop, lol, there were so few I named them), but second should arrive in Sept-Oct. We had a car crash and the airbag eployed and broke my sternum
NEVER LET CHILDREN (OR LITTLE OLD LADIES0 ride in the front seat!
ouch, ruby!
Don't let them drive, either.
that is amazing Ruby I thought they saved you !
i CAN STILL DRIVE, IT'S JUSTA QUESTIONS OF SEEING OVER THE STEERING WHEEL (KIDDING)
whoops, caps, sorry
my husband wasn't hurt by his, didn't even wake up (he had fallen asleep at the wheel)
my daughter drove our volvo to the shops when she was 15!! the little devil! I had taught her to drive at pony club whenshe was 10- so dont teach them to drive either
Oh my, ruby!
have you stopped him driving now ruby?
hmmm, and don't let tired old men drive
the car was totalled, so in the new one, I signed a waiver to have the airbag disconnected
Don't let octopi drive, either.
no, but I only drive to local restaurants with him.
Especially stick shifts, because they get all tied up.
or sit next to you!
do you have good restaurants there Ruby?
grem, are suggesting we take the cars off the road?
I believe the food in France is great
No, we need to take the roads out from under cars.
not really, but anything is better than making lunch every day
shall we go back to horse and wagon
we are in a bad food region (although Ata would disagree). If I had more energy, we would eat very well.

yup ruby, you filled the page
Nope, only 10.
I was afraind that would happen; didn't see the clock
It was hiccup time, ruby.
Hi all! Ruby, I had a bout with (what the doctor called) Fibromyalgia over the last two years. Every movement hurt and it got to the point when I just saw a flight of stairs I had to climb, I would cry. My muscles tone was gone. I read alot about MBT shoes, got some and they have helped tremendously! My legs have never looked so good and I was always involved in athletics my entire life. My Fibro symptoms are 90% gone now, don't know what to credit, but for muscle toneing, the MBT's are GREAT!
I think we need more trains.
that are MBT shoes? I have a dear friend in the South with FM and she is in absolute misery!
Especially trains of thought, because a lot of people lose theirs.
what are MBT shoes marm, my mother suffers from sore feet and its something to do with her nerves in the feet
I don't have leg pain, just breathlessness and fatigue
sandy, that sounds like the same problem
ah grem, like the train travel was back a few (or several) years - with really great dining cars
my train of though has de-railed!
good one ruby
I am going to google those shoes
I love travelling by train. Paris is less than 4 hrs away by train, more than 5 by car (not that I ever go)
Well, if you google them, there are hundreds of testimonials about dramatic improvement of many ailments and pains: leg, foot, back, neck. They have a comprehensive website as well. They are pretty pricey, but they are the only shoes I wear just about.
I love trains also Ruby
what does MBT stand for?
Masai Barefoot Technology. They are a Swiss company.
I am saving up for a pair of sandals (200€!)
thank you, marmar, I will tell my friend and look into them for me
Does Australia, with its vast distances, have good train service?
i have to go , will be back later
{{sandy}}
Ruby, I have been on the Indian Pacific which goes right across australia
Also, don't buy them from online discounters, there are fakes being sold under the same name which are NOT the same and can actually do harm to the body. Also, Sketchers and Reebok have a copycat version, don't know about thier quality.
It was fabulous with sit down meals and sleepers etc
you may just have done a great service to many of us!!
so marm, where do we get them , do you have a bonifide web site we can go to
I really have to go so I will check the chog later
Oh I hope so. I love mine and the results I have gotten. There are "authorized sellers" listed on their website. I'm looking for the webaddress...
It keeps sending me automatically to the German site but I think the main site is www.mbt.com
I'm off to bed -- goodnight/morning all!
'nite Jilli!
sweet dreams, jilli!
goodnight jilli, I'm right behind you, took a tyl.3 so better get to bed
or you might type words in the wrong place like you-know-who! hahah
if I'm lucky enough to see them ruby!
{{flosey}}
ah thanks {{ruby}}
Duty calls. Bye everyone, have a great day or evening!
really must go, starting to take hold, poof
thank you for yur suggestion, marmar, and have a good day!
3 more for half, then I can get dressed!
yay, half!!! see you later
hi and nbt
Does it bode well if my first word is a tile-graying Babblet?
Probably, Douglas.
Good morning Douglas. Probably, but only just started, so now wondering if I have this particularly tile-greying babblet.
J.C. - ling time no see.
or loooong time.
Good morning/afternoon all. Douglas is going to keep us in the dark about the tile-greyer. My money is on rh5.
In the northwest corner
The N? Have that, but didn't think of it particularly as a babblet. My money was on the Y.
I don't think it's a babblet either. Not boding well, Douglas.
(How much did you bet, Sally?)
the y and the rh5 are babblets
well, i suppose not very well-known ones
Not a lot Haz :-)
Good, I'd hate for us to be impoverished over the head of Douglas.
I know have all the single word tiles except the C in the right column, so I assumed it was one of those.
Hello everyone
Hello, lynxxx.
Hi lynxxx
That n isn't a Babblet?!?
No, I don't think it's ever been called a babblet.
no it's just a boring accounting thing
Perhaps it's a British thing, Douglas, but that's a word I would use in Real Life as opposed to Babble. (not that Babble isn't real)
Hmm...maybe I should start over...
Whereas I can't say I've ever used the Y word, nor drunk out of the RH
I think it shows remarkable resilience on our part that we're back at babble after yesterday's horror.
Yes, it was horrendous wasn't it.
It was a doozie wasn't it...I finished and made sure I renewed my subscription to Morewords
It was. At one point I thought I was having hallucinations or a bad dream or something.
There would have been no prospect of me completing it without extensive use of resources. And you can guess which resources!
hi all
hi jmc!
Do you think Morewords hires someone to make-up those words? It got to the point I stpped looking for the definitions.
I wondered if much cluing happened later on in the day, when I was on, people seemed to be too shellshocked to be asking for much. Definitely a mental health warning grid.
Same here Haz. I did finish, but didn't get that nice glow of satisfaction at having done all or most of it without resources!
Hello, jmc.
And hi jmc.
Never mind a glow of satisfaction, your sanity was intact.
Only just. I really didn't enjoy yesterday's.
i was happy that i got 1/3 of yesterday's grid and stayed out of the pb
No, I finished out of a sense of pigheadedness.
Yees, what my husband calls obstinate and I call determined.
i call it disciplined!
That's a good alternative, jmc!
hello everyone... I didn't finish, I sat here at 11.30 pm with Morewords and thought... WHAT am I doing, this is supposed to be fun !
i am feeling especially undisciplined these days
hi Karys
hi karys
i agree that is why i never look at my score
Hello, Karys! Nice to see you.
But then, I don't seem to have time to finish so often these days.
I used to do that Karys, but now I just walk away if it's late. It is only a game, I tell myself. But I did finish yesterday's at intervals during the day. Was out in the evening so wanted to finish before then.
and in to the pb for me after staying out all yesterday
Hi Haz, you too, although I see you most days !
come join me karys *links arms*
Ah, you've become a silent observer, Karys?
any coffee?
I'll make you fresh jmc.
i am already fresh!
There's no doubt that joining in chat does slow down the finding of words - not that it seems to bother the speed merchants!
And enough for Karys too I see.
I have, I am in and out so much I hvan't time to keep saying 'hello' and 'goodbye', and it seems so rude not too !!
Please, may I have tea ?
i have even been known to lurk although i think some would be surprised to hear that
Sure, will put a tray there.
I usually try to get the first half or first easy part without chatting.
I think most people have time when they don't join in the conversation.
It is different now that Husband has retired.
Does he keep whirling you away on days out?
Or does he have you chained to the kitchen sink?
lol with that rule sally i would chat right away most time
ha! pb for the nearly perfect haz!
Nearly perfect? When did the element of doubt creep in?
looks like the pb is going to be as active as it was yesterday!
lol jmc. It's a self-imposed one, sometimes ignored (like today when I haven't actually reached half).
Must remember not to mention time units of more than 24 hours...
i am stumped at 12 words today! *sigh* babble keeps me humble
Something like that Haz, it seems the only strutured part of the day is breakfast time, which is when I try to do as much as I can. The rest of the day I just do dribs and drabs as I pass the puter.
And do you like it, or would you like to be more structured?
No, I like the oddness of days !
I don't ever mind people not saying hallo or goodbye Karys, what I do find surprising is when someone just appears and asks for a clue without even a please.
that does seem a bit abrupt sally
As an 'observer' I get very cross about that too Sally !
That's good, then. It would be horrible if you really wanted to be all organised but had to go with the flow.
I do ignore such demands :-)
but i try to imagine that they are down to one last word and have to go do something else really really soon
I think I have what is called a 'butterfly' mind.
and th** i try to model good manners
There's bound to be a more flattering term, Karys. If pigheaded can be translated into disciplined, we can get something nicer than a butterfly mind.
ooo karys that totally discribes me! ty ty ty i never heard that before
that is charming Karys (must remember that for me)
Still a 'please' would be nice.
active mind
but i like butterfly
Multi-tasking mind?
Maybe nicer isn't the right term - more flattering to the joys of butterflydom.
Oh, I like that jmc.
oo that is good too sally
Think I have a caterpillar mind this morning.
LOL Sally.
There you go - I knew we'd come up with a new improved actively multi-tasking description.
that is what i usually say -- i can only multi-task on 10 things at one time -- the 11th kills me
Well this mind has to flit from Babble, to making a fish pie, to getting some of my quilting done, not forgetting I must pop into the garden.
a fish pie? i never had one of those
Funnily enough, my mind never strays to quilting.
mmm fish pie.
I do really need some shopping too, but I will ring said husband and he can do that.
Nor mine, though it does often stray to food.
i think about quilting and how i am going to doit when i retire if i ever retire which i doubt
That comes as no surprise to me Haz !
You know me so well!
Fish Pie has come into later life for me jmc.
describe it to me please
anyone?
Pieces of as many bits of fish you can logically get hold of, cooked and mixed with a sauce and a few bits of veg. covered with mashed potato and baked.
Basically, mixed white fish, can add prawns if you like, in modicum of white sauce. Mashed potato on top, cheese on that if you like. Bung it in the oven till brown on top.
Tweaked to you own desires.
oo so a fish shepards pie
Exactly !!
Yes jmc
sounds tasty if i can use shrimp and salmon
I sometimes add tiny bits of bacon.
working on liking talapia
You can add what you like jmc, that's the beauty of it.
oo bacon is just the thing it needed!
A little smoked fish adds flavour.
never thought of cheese with fish
And sweetcorn if I have it.
sigh and here i am facing another day of rice
fish pie, also known as fisherman's pie (yes jm, like shepherds pie)
anchovies too?
I like the cheese on top.
hello again
hi ishult
afternoon all
hi ruby
I chopped up the stalks of a little bit of broccoli too.
Think anchovies would be too strong and salty.
hi Ishult & Ruby
Hello, Ishult, ruby.
just a few anchovies
Hello Ishult and ruby
never liked anchovies!!
I don't like anchovies
i did not until about three years ago
fireworks
Poor anchovies, the only fish deemed unworthy of fish pie.
even in a Caesar?
I have only recently learned to like olives !
Congrats Josh!
i bought some anchovie stuff olives by accident and was amazed
too salty, too fishy!!!
whoo hoo joshua
Well done Josh !!
Now I chop anchovies and broccoli and add to pasta. Very tasty.
this one was tricky, but not like yesterday's
that sounds wonderful! I love anchovies but rinse them to remove some of the saltiness, only thought of that last year
Nothing has been like yesterday's for a long time.
slow learner
my son ha*** olives until he got desperate in Guatemala for food -- he learned to like a lot of things he "ha***" before
fish pie sounds wonderful!
If you cook them a little with the broccoli, ruby (and hallo), while you are cooking the pasta, then stir it all together and add parmesan. Very good instant meal.
anyone need a clue or two?
anchovy-stuffed olives are my faves, and not bad in a drink with vodka and water
could use clues for the biggies?
Oh yes please could you give me the stats only for the C in the right column.
how about the 9 and 10, joshua (and hello, smartie!)
i will try them in my next martini
hello ishult, jmc, haz and sally
*wonders if she can take a martini on the plane from the airport in brussells*
if you are iffy or indecisive about something, you are re*****nt + yerba mate **a + past tense
+ past tense for the 10
when I went to London on Easyjet, I brought a beer on board and got a severe talking-to from the flight attendant!
ty joshua
I drank it anyway.....
I don't get the re clue....
Thank you for that Josh, and now I will go and attack the fish pie, bye everyone, good to chat !!
I did :-) and thanks joshua.
no i know i am not suppose to take alcohol on the plane -- i will buy multiple jack daniels instead now that they only take credit cards on the planes
bye karys pop out again soon!
Bye Karys.
i am re*****nt to give you all my money because i need it to spend for my own things
Bye Karys. Have a good day.
ruby, first find the re6/24 - then put the past tense of consumed food for the 9, make it a proper past tense for the 10.
bye karys
aaah, that's my problem, don't have the re6!
putting monkeys to work
got it, ty everybody
It was the 6 you were given the clue for. I am re****ant to give you money
Well done!
I thought I tried that! I guess not... :(
ty, got the re8,9 & 10....whats the other 8?
gu8 - along the same lines at the end.
gu8 - past tense of gu7.
got it, thanks
z
You're welcome.
ty haz
Thought you'd gone to sleep there ruby.
sage
saged
oops .....sorry
No problem. Now I must take a break and try to bring some order to the house. Ishult is taking over the clues for a while...
The last one doesn't wor, ishult, but there are two anagrams of it which do!
tsk. wor -> work
I was looking up gu6 eeeew
nice anagrams, sally
I just spent 1/2 hr looking for eggplants and zucchini which husband bought yesterday. He had put them in the pantry and I thought I had thrown them away.
making ratatouille today
I make the best ratatouille
I like ratatouille - lots of garlic.
every woman here has her own recipe. Mine is OK, but not great!
what's your secret, ishult?
mmmm ratatouille
one neighbor cooks each part separately and with different spices
do you put flour on the vegetables before you saute them?
when lickety is down, where does one go for clues?
never thought about flouring the veggies
some one usually posts them lexi
You could look in babanon, sometimes people post clues there, or gremlinn usually has them in his profile.
no real secret, I throw every thing in together (Zucinni, Eggplant, Green pepperts, onions), plenty of garlic, salt pepper, chopped tomatoes, tomato paste and a couple of Bay leaves. Cook really well.
I've never done it that way, but I guess it changes the taste a little. I usually just saute what I can and then throw it all in a big pan and hope for the best. I'm not a dilligent cook any more
have a look on Babblers Anon, link under Lexi
actually other than garlic and onion i don't saute anything
lots of garlic.
hello lynxxxx
I like to read recipes for ideas, but then don't follow them
okay i am about to go a a drive to somewhere to look at something
send in the national guard if i don't come back ;-)
just as long as you know what you are doing jmc. Byee
I hope it's large and furry and doesn't bite you!
but tell them not to shoot!
have fun jmc
bye all *poof*
bye jmc!!
78 words and going to start the ratatouille
see you later
poof*
bye for now ruby.

I'm stalled with 56 still to find - and it's to cold to think
cold!
BBS got to put some pasta on
Back, but just to say goodbye. Have a good day Ata
Back - bye lynxxx and hi Ata.
bye lyn! hi sally!
Hey everyone
morning...did anyone post a list yet?
gremlinn usually has one, kim
Down to last two - fe 5/20 and ta 6/18 any clues please
fe5/20 - throw your dog a stick and say this.
ta6/18 ... tell on
Thanks for fe 5/20 - got the ta - tell on. Are there two ta 6/18
yes, gran. slang word for potato
I'm not using a list, gran, sorry.
I only have that one, but don't have all the Ts.
thanks for that, Chris :)
Thanks and finished
like your comment about the life raft city, in your profile. Reminds me of someone once saying the babble theme was the Eagles 'Hotel California' - you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave.
lol, Chris, so true ... I almost gave up babbling once before, on the principle that I was spending too much time online, but I seem to have, er, backslid ;)
I've tried so many times to walk away, even if for a few days, but the only time I manage it is when I'm on holiday. I'm so sad!
*grins* ... at least we can say it's a cerebral pastime, and just sort of gloss over the 'addicted' aspect.
I'm not addicted. I give it up every day.
lol, Sally
I'm actually okay if I can't get to play every day, but if I open it in the morning, and it looks like a nice big grid and then something happens to keep me away from the computer... agony!
and if I start - I have to finish
I'm getting better at not having to finish. If it's late and I'm tired, I walk away and go to bed. One night I was sitting here trying to finish and falling asleep at the keyboard, and I thought this is stupidl It's only a game. So now I walk away if it's late.
you're much better than me sally - I just can't do it. far too anal retentive, I think
Me too, Sally... I used to be like Chris, but it stopped being as much fun to play, so I weaned myself off the 'ranking' bug and now just enjoy the grid.
It's okay Chris... you get to describe yourself as a completionist around here ;)
aw - you're just trying to make me feel better!
Hello everyone. Just reading your chat.... and the 'ranking bug'.... Please tell me HOW to ween yourself off having to finish and climbing in the rankings? I'm SO stuck on it that I even have this log-in name AND another one (pro). I use this one if I'm not sure I can finish...!! And if I do, then I type in ALL the words in the Pro log-in.... it is SO sad....HELP!!
I'm sorry - but you're a lost cause Lilecama!!
LOL!!! well thanks for that. At least I know now....
LOL Lilecama, that is dedicated babbling
Anything which gets in the way of your normal life is an addiction, lilecama, at least that's what I told myself. I just thought, as I said, this is stupid. I left it and went to bed, and you know what? No-one died, no-one except me noticed. The rankings are really really not important. After all, if you are away you will drop in the rankings through no fault of your own. Also, if it's a really huge grid I often don't finish just because of the time available.
ah! dedicated is not a word that would come to my mind - but thanks city!
Hello everyone. Does anyone know what the ten letter word begins with? And has anyone posted any stats?
Gremlinn has a list... I think the 10 is an RE but don't have it yet
yeah, Sally - I KNOW all of this.... but you see I DO know that I have'nt finished. and I am Very Vain and like to see me somewhere in the rankings - and then, of course, the inbred competative element of having to be the best in the class if you want your daddy's approval.... sigh.... maybe I need therapy... ;)
The 10 letter is re 10/91, and is pt of re 9/66.
I long ago stopped beating myself up for not finishing. It wasn't worth the pain! Thanks, Sally.
I'm exactly the same Lilecama!
If you need more of a clue ask Hydra
Yes please, Sally!
Lilecama, I watch the points go up in place of my 'babble' satisfaction... that way I can play most of every grid, finishing when I get the chance but not getting crazy if I can't come back to it.
*smiles* hey a buddy! what shall we do Chris?
btw de6/30 is a silly word
Start with the re 6/24: I am sometimes re****ant to give a clue. Then add what you did to your breakfast, then pt that.
go to therapy together?
And also pt the re 6 you started with to give you re 8/55
Thanks Sally :)
Thanks very much!
I'd given up trying to extend that one, too
np
Someone else clued it earlier.
I've got the 9 but not the 10. It won't go plural.
Not plural, past tense
Oh! It's past tense. Got it now.
Well, I don't as yet go crazy, city, altho I do try and catch up and spend way too much time behind the screen in doing so.... Suppose it is mad in some way.
Chris.... I'll take you up on that!!
Well, with 97 left, I'd better do some work. *poof*
*waves to hydra with admiration for being able to just LEAVE!!!*
lol
LOL, I'm with Chris on this ... you're a lost cause!
oh, well, at least I've got a lost cause friend together with me, eh Chris?
absolutely Lilecama
oooh chris - you're up at 1028!! II was nearly up there with you, but then had to go on holiday. So I've just dropped 20 points.... WHat do you think... get up to 1030, take a screen shot and then drop the addiction?
I have to admit I've kept some of my associated rituals - I can't list until I'm below 30 words left, regardless of grid size
I've been at 1030 before, but can't seem to rest till I get there again!
It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there...
Yeah, I have my 'rules' too. Yours seem to be pretty strict tho'. I allow Lickety to help me when I'm over half way...
Lol City! I can understand that. Too much pressure i suppose. Good for you Chris, having been there. I'd like to have a peek - just once.... one day..... after HOURS of babbling.... ;)
my only 'rule' is that if I start, I have to finish
lol you two! I have fireworks and am off now. Any clues needed?
yep, that one counts for me too....
congrats, Sally :)
no thanks sally & well done
thanks sally, still ok at the moment. and good for you! congrats...
**gone** then
oh... but.... de5/16 is not being forthcoming. Clue anyone, please?
de + fuel
thanks city! how silly of me
np, I think I'm going to have to give in and ask for a hint at the other 8...I have the re.
just got it - gu8
oh, never mind, monkeyed it
thanks anyway, Chris... what an odd ending
interesting definition
back in a bit ... some sort of sandwich is called for if I'm going to finish this
*will be spending time at the PB on the way back*
you can eat your sandwich in there then!
lol
oops - and I'll come and join you!
Care for half a sandwich? Chicken and raw red onion, I'm afraid - not to everyone's taste.
thanks city! skip the raw onion and I'll chomp along with you.
LOL ... I just made the error message tell me 'you've already entered "th4/4"' ... small amusement, but still...
lol city!
Hi does anyone know if there's a list anywhere. Lickety isn't up and there doesn't seem to be one in Babblers anon either.
Gremlin's got a list, Sandie
Gremlinn has one, I think
Ok thanks - I'll try to find it.
you can find Gremlin in the rankings...
he's in the 1030 range in the rankings, Sandie, or he's been in the chog earlier, so you can get to his profile from viewing the chat log.
Ah thanks for that.
the log doesn't link to profiles unfortunately
Hey, so it doesn't, I never noticed that... sorry, Sandie, guess it's the rankings after all.
thanks m9
Can always edit + find from the rankings. Zzz, I just woke up..

yes, une
te + anagram of kitty
car died on me, motor block completely blown apart. Been on my feet for 5 hours while 30 minutes is the best I can do. Called out of bed by a maintenance guy who said he had an appointment with me. That kind of no picnic day.
(te5/12)
awww, poor sprite!!!
I'll send Ruby over to give you a big stinky chow cuddle!!!
oh, nooooo, sprite, I'm so sorry -- 2 weeks ago I rear-ended a car here in Nashville and totalled my little Sentra -- I hate cars!!
I hardly ever drive any more, either alone or with husband
ruby, when I lived in France I never used anything but public transport . . . it was great
ok, gotta run -- BBL! *poof*
uh oh, have to go, he's stomping around upstairs -- the great stomper!
we are too far out in the country
there is, however, a water taxi from our village to Annecy
{{sprite}}
*poof*
well the good new is, our car friend takes back the ruined car and lets us have another, much simpler one, giving us back money in stead of us having to pay him. Of course, our car was just one month back from the yearly whatsit... test...

well..12 left. gonna take a break
good job m9, see you later maybe
Good morning Babblers :)
hiya Nanette :)
Good morning Nan, sprite
hi helensgirl
Sprite, so sorry about all your woes yesterday, but glad you got a different car
hi Helen
Catching up here, sounds like a rotten day for you sprite - got to be better today!
absolutely, thanks helensgirl :)
thank you Nanette :)
am not finding this grid very easy, do you?
not really
been at it about an hour and have 77 words but they are sure getting hard to find now
Has anyone posted a list?
Good morning/afternoon all. It's not that easy a grid, no.
gremmlin has one
hi Haz
I believe gremlinn has one, anike
hi Haz
Hi Haz
Hello, Nono and sprite. Maybe we've had our babble brains affected by yesterday.
quite possible
I might check it out - 47 words to go and somewhat stuck
Hello River, anike.
Hi haz - and everyone
I have this vague memory of a word meaning really hairy... bet I am wrong or it is a phantom
hirsute?
ah th4's the one. Thanks Haz. Not even close enough to call it a phantom.
My horror of a phantom today is lettuce
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
I would think hairstute would be a better way to spell that
at least I can put it out of my misery now
hiya ruru
Hello, ruru.
gm e
ouch, yes helensgirl, very close
I just got the butter word
Oh come on. Are we not worthy of a proper good morning?
I thought it meant Give Me E
hi Ruru
good morning dear ladies...
I did a bit last night, and I think I must have spent whole minutes tracing routes to prove to myself repeatedly that LETTUCE IS NOT THERE!
good morning to you, dear ruru :)
That's more like it. Greetings and suitable salutations to you.
I know that feeling! Makes me retype it several times because I just KNOW it is there and I MUST have mistyped it.
that happened to me yesterday.
Help! What butter word?
which word was it yesterday, ruru?
I typed isthmi so many times and it never took
until someone clued it .. I typed it in and it went.
lol so you did mistype it several times. Goes to show it is a valid method.
help with the ga6/39?
ga6/39 - the fuel, a doubful ending (take out one f)
ty Haz
You're welcome.
TY Haz
No problem, anike.
yes, thanks Haz!
one more and I can list
You're welcome. What's your formula, ruru. At what point do you succumb?
back
hi jmc!
Hello, jmc.
wb jmc :)
when I have 50 left and am stuck
hi sprite! *waves*
ok.. I can list now
What if there are only 50 words total?
hi nono! *waves again*
oh..well.. then I would list right away.
lovely to see you, jmc. Only a few days left for you!
lol
no..usually on grids under `100 I never list anymore
help with the de5/16 please
You like babble hard-core.
*smug look*
de5/16 - remove the aforementioned fuel.
de + fuel River
thanks
<---- likes hard core tennis too
wish une was here.. I served up 10 aces yesterday
Well done!
awesome ruru
i begin my trek tomorrow
I'll oooh and aaah instead.
I have 134 words....is that all of them?
The guys I play with said" if you did that all the time no one would play with you anymore..lol
That's your lot, well done!

And you thought you were hard-core babble, ruru. Ouwachita is showing you up.
<<--- really a babble woosie
sheesh
sorry to leave, jmc, or happy to go home, or both?
How long is your trek?
happy to go home -- a month is a long time for a stay at home like me
about 36 hours give or take i haven't checked because it would be too depressing
would be long for me too. It is nice to come home then :) Lots of pictures to look at, of course?
yes my icon is one of the elephants i saw
amazing animals. Nice shot too!
I could use a guide toward the gu 8 please
Very worthwhile elephant, jmc
ty my son has better ones i am sure since he has a better camera
jmc you should get a flicker account and share your photos with us
gu7=stomach+DC is not a s****
This is going to sound pitiful, but I always like the sound of the washing machine starting up again after I've been on holiday.
This is going to sound pitiful, but I always like the sound of the washing machine starting up again after I've been on holiday.
This is going to sound pitiful, but I always like the sound of the washing machine starting up again after I've been on holiday.
is he on the way to a trunk sale?
So pitiful that the computer has choked.
does flicker take a copyright out on them like facebook does?
*hands haz's computer a hankie*
i dont think so jmc but you can check their terms easy enough
thank you jmc

(waits for haz's computer to cough up the hairball)
that is what keeps me from using face book more
Haz, I agree! I love the sound of laundry going!
not me
I'm not alone! I think its the relief of getting dirty laundry clean again.
I am truly baffled, lol.
i never hear it as it is in the basement of my house
when i grew up it was in the kitchen and the dryer was in my bedroom
imagine a clothes dryer in an unairconditioned bed room in Texas in August
Why on earth would you use a dryer? Why not dry outside?
all I can attribute to this kind of feelings is I love the smell of clean laundry. Especially when dried outside.
omg jmc, that is crazy!
I don't like drying outside...I always find a stray but in my clothes.
my mother worked and had 5 children -- the dryer was faster and she could do it at night
Oh JMC! UGH!
when I take the laundry off the drying lines, I shake them out.
the good side of it for me was no one would bother me when the dryer was going in the summer
The squirrels and birds would poo on my laundry if I hung it outside. Good morning, babblers!
Hello, Judi!
when you dry outdoors the cloth is stiff too
hi judi
facebook retains the right to all your info even if you close your account. That's why I dont use it
hi Judi, that would be slighty contraproductive
Plus we have lots of trees. The sap would ruin what the animals didn't. Sigh.
Judi I have that same problem with the birds and laundry
counterproductive
the original founder of facebook wanted for college students only but his partner screwed him
You need nice breezes. I love getting clothes dried outside, the dryer is a last resort. Electricity prices are really high here, so that's another point to be considered.
*excited* mother-dear did some good investigating, and i think i may have just found the perfect wedding favors. :)
judi is thinking contraception
do tell eva. . .
Never mind wedding favours, EvaN - where do you dry your clothes?
woohoooo Eva thats excellent
oh EvaN how nice!
heh, in the dryer.
where is NB he will want to hear this
<--- dryer man
http://tinyurl.com/2v3qya9 scroll down to the burlap kit.
Even in the summer?
OOOOOOH! so excited!
fireworks - a big thanks to gremlinn
Love it Eva!~
Well done, anike!
yes. we live in a townhouse with no yard, so nowhere to hang things to dry. plus, summers here are so humid, things would take FOREVER to dry. some certain things we will lay out about the house if we *really* dont want them to go in the dryer, but we just dont have the space to hang everything.
how nice evan and green to boot!
wow EvaN, brilliant gift!
whoo hoo anike
brb
Eva, I love it!
I do hang some things over the deck railing fairly often. Hubby's biking clothes, towels, etc.
I'm off to bed - happy babbling everyone
I have a drying rack over the door of the bathroom and one above the stairs. Not much room. But a big mill outside.
thanks all! i love the idea of a useful, green gift -- and the tree/burlap combo add to my rustic elegant theme!
sleep well anike
night anike
I foresee a lot of bows to be tied, EvaN!
night anike..well done
here we could hang clothes, but summer consists of hot and humid or pouring rain and the other 9 months everything is frozen solid;(
haz -- the best part (if im looking at the kit correctly) is that the bows are pre-tied on an elastic band. :)
That's cheating.
i like those party favours eva;)) good choice!!
I wonder if the clothes get a fair trial before you hang them?
You young things, always finding a shortcut...
heh, my MOM found it. and shes no spring chicken. ;)
Calgary is great for hanging clothes - unless we're having one of those occasional spells of rain every day at least for a while.
mom is wise eva
When I moved here I had a one-year-old and no dryer, and I was very nervous about winter - but it's so dry that things would dry overnight at any temperature.
now if mom could find your shoes...
hiya crossy, did I say something stupid?
i do not think so..howdy sprite;))
Put them out at minus 30, they'd freeze before I could get the pins on them! Had to wear gloves. Easy to tell when they were dry - they were flexible like cloth again!
ok :) Always a bit unclear about the right words for laundry.
we tried it once, end up breaking the clothes helen
well i confess i don't dry my clothes i have a housekeeper whose main task is to do my laundry
when my husband was alive he did it
*envies jmc*
*hugs jmc*
mrs. ru won't let me touch the laundry
my love seems to be colourblind when it comes to laundry, so I try to discourage him.
Yes, you mustn't touch them once they're frozen until they're completely dry!
read a report on 1000 people asked on the first thing they would do if they won the lottery..#1 was quit the job,#2 was get a buttler, maid, housekeeper
when we fisrt lived together it was in an apartment building where it was not safe for me to go to the basement to do the laundry
I would give all my money to charities
i wouldn't quit my job!
that is a bit scary, jmc
so he started to do the laundry and we never changed once we move to a house
Laundry muggers?
*sniff* The naked rich.
he did the ironing too because i refused and he want his shirts ironed
muggers and rapists ru
ewwwww
good lord
I didn't know laundry was so dangerous
good training of the hubby, jmc ;)
reason # 8,345 why i am glad i no long live in a big city
one time my mil came to stay and did a load of clothes and she came up from our basement in the house to lecture me about my laundry habits and i told her to talk to her son . . .
she turned purple!
whahahaha!
my hubby did not need training! lol he was a natural
hopefully her accessories matched the purple
I have to babysit my laundry at the launderette, or people tend to steal the clothes. Though compared to other stories, that sounds quite cute.
dear fiance does most of our laundry, as he is very particular about how some of his pieces are handled. the down-side is that im running frighteningly low on undies -- he tends to pick out his own things to wash and mine get neglected!
so is mine, jmc. Some guys are reallly the best.
*perk* NB!!!! *opens arms wide*
hiya Nancy Boy *hugggs*
lol NB did you see evan's wedding favors?
Is there an RH word?
g'mornin'...
tule
sorry
morning Pinik
Yes, rh5.
ty car
hi pini!
Hiya, Pini & NB!
i do all the laundry as the wifes eyes are not the best, she cannot see the coin slots of dial settings on the machines
hi, all :) I'm taking a quiet, QUIET break at work. Was up late chatting with friends, now hungover and falling asleep on my feet ;)
hiya all! :)
howdy nb
howdy pini
*arms still held wide*
Hi Pini!
Hi NB!
I'm just dragging my leg over to settle into them, Eva ;)
how's everyone doing?
rh must be my missing NBT
hurry up NB or evan's arms will fall off
NB - fling yourself into Eva's arms before she bursts into tears.
rh5/16, ruru.
awww, hows the ankle faring, dear?
LOL Judi - I'm a bit too fragile to be flinging myself around today :P I'll have to be a little more restrained. I'll have to crawl there.
so actually drinking too much is good for your ankle... now there's a thought.
Mmmm. Self medication....
the ankle is alright, thank you :) though I keep accidentally forgetting and shifting my weight onto it!
I can't figure this RH out either Ruru.
hmmm that was not what i got out of that remark sprite
rh plus the sometimes vowel, finish with British thanks.
TY Haz!
thx for the rh :)
You're welcome.
'Twas an evening in October, I'll confess I wasn't sober, I was carting home a load with manly pride, When my feet began to stutter and I fell into the gutter, And a pig came up and lay down by my side. Then I lay there in the gutter and my heart was all a-flutter, Till a lady, passing by, did chance to say: "You can tell a man that boozes by the company he chooses," Then the pig got up and slowly walked away.
poor fiances finger (which he dislocated WAY back in january) is still healing -- knuckle is still slightly swollen. and of course, its his wedding-ring finger! and to top it off, he jammed the ring finger + pinkie on his other hand this week. stupid goalies.
LOL!
*thinks longingly of her jack daniels*
ouch, Eva!! his wedding ring finger though? how selfish of him :P
when does soccer season end for him?
tell me about it. i told him to start tending goal head-first, as he wont need that as much. ;)
phantom: Yacht
or is it hockey?
jmc -- never. he plays year round on different teams. playing on 3 teams at the moment!
brilliant poem :D
there is no hope then he may have to wear the wedding ring on a chain around his neck
old song sprite
well, at least he has had it checked out by the doc + has a brace he wears... sometimes. i hafta nag him to wear it more.
May I please have help with the C on the right?
You could always get his ring larger and then have it sized down.
ci7/32.
It ends in a seabird.
tell him to take a different position! I used to play central midfield and walked away with many a bruised shin, but all fingers intact ;)
Ty again Haz!
No problem. At first glance I thought you were saying 'try again'.
all this talk about fingers and different positions confuses me
Sprite!!!!!
do you want an explanation or to you want your imagination to run wild?
i may just kick him in the shins so he cant play at all anymore...heh
but then again, today my mind is in the gu6.
And lastly, may I please have the stats on the Y?
ya4/8
alas i just realized my poem/song gets me the pb
TY! NBT! Off to do some work!
*grins* jmn, I'd love an explanation that would send my imagination run even wilder.
And may you enjoy your time there, jmc, for I recall that you're awfully pleased to send me there.
wtg car.ee and good luck with the work
has Haz been sent to the PB? When? How? Which word?
lol i ALWAYS enjoy my time in the pb -- cabana boy one gives great chair massages
she kept saying multi-24 hour periods
It was earlier on, sprite. For da4. I'm still smarting.
wtg car
haz is a very sore loser lol
I've got my reputation to think of.
*thinks of haz's reputation and chokes*
So much choking. First my computer, now jmc.
*hhhmmmmppprrrfffffff* I am not laughing.
*puts on kevlar jacket just in case*
*hands out throat lozenges*
not liking these cu's
what's the matter sprite?
so, just out of curiosity, Haz... how did you like it there? Were the cabana boys and girls nice? And did you like the fresh tea I made earlier?
*very innocent big eyes* How do you mean, jmc? Anything the matter?
I could enjoy nothing, sprite, for the shame of being there.
aw :( No shame in a single digression, Haz. It makes you look almost human. I think it is cute.
lol oh really haz!
I guess this wouldn't be the appropriate time to mention that Haz made a spelling mistake yesterday.
I bet the cabana boys would tell a different story.
They're ganging up on me.
lollll hi FM :) Nice way to enter the room. *hugs*
*gasp!*
OMG! mungo wango!
Hi all :)
hi FM
you would tell us the details if they told you, wouldn't you Nancy Boy?
Hello FM. I'm already stressed to the eyeballs and now I hear I made a spelling mistake?
(jmc is a little rough on the cabana boys)
do tell FM
*perk* did i hear something about cabana boys?
(((Haz))) th4 th4 dear.
*hands Haz a cup of tea with a valium on the side*
I need coffee and a horse tranquilser.
and Judi tends to hog them... to no avail, of course...
tranquiliser.
RU! i will have to find out which one blabbed! nothing worse than a cabana boy who tells all
*taps the syringe and side tracks Haz with a mug of coffee*
sorry only coffee beans in Kenya -- no coffee to drink
Huh? Which to I hog? The cabana boys or the tranquilisers?
how many words are there today.... thanks!
134 words.
134
well jm he was the one with the swollen toungue
tongue
ru there may be minors on line -- do you want to explain that remark?
the cabana boys of course, Judi... I have never seen you take tranquilisers :)
from talking too much with you jm?
bee sting?
lol
touche!
*cheshire grin* and you never will. *gazing at rainbows* Everything is sooooo groooovy.
cu 7 please
cu7 - ends with how old you are.
gazing at rainbows...Judi's not on tranquilisers, she's outside my place of work.
Ancient...
hello again, back for another 15 mins of torture!
*looks for banana peels cigarette butts*
Hello, ruby.
who needs tranquilisers when they have good cabana boys...
thanks a lot haz
don't torture the horse, rubyfoo, Haz has plans with the poor animal.
Now there's a horse? Wicked!
You're welcome, ruru.
must be... Haz asked for a tranquiliser for the beast.
i think you mean 'for the poor animal' sprite or at least I hope you do!
Not for the horse - for me!
But not immobilon, please. It's a bit scary.
*grins* Ohhhh is th4 what you meant...
that's what JMC meant by pulling the trigger then
i actually thought you meant "with" and talk about imagination!!
2nd day in a row I have to give Haz her blue and pink stripy pills, bad grid!
it sounds like this chat has gotten a little out of hand, you rowdies!
what? when did i say that?
trigger ... horse..roy rogers..get with it jmc
Immoblion? Never heard of it. Sounds like a paralytic. Th4 must be trippy.
FM you still haven't told what word haz misspelled
and it is not even my fault ruby..ive been in lurk/hiding mode lol
I think I meant 'with' but I can fake a feeble mastery of the english language if you want me to
how early tomorrow do you start your return voyage, jmc?
Oh sorry jmc, I cant remember.
I thought it was ketamine at first. How passe, this ain't the early nineties!
it got an extra i added to the end.
now nobody dare to slip Haz a micky or else!
around noon to drive the hour or so to the town with the airport -- i must remember to post a photo of this air port.
then a two hour flight to Nairobi to catch the plane to Brussels to catch the plane home
in case I don't "see" you, BON VOYAGE!!!
oh yes please do! Must be a far cry from Schiphol.
any airport that can get you home in one piece is a good one
I will probably drop in tomorrow for a while
asmen, crossy
need a break.. bb in a bit
amen* hahah
Have a lovely globe trot, jmc.
bye ruru (and hi, BTW)
the wooden luggage cart is push out to the plane by the baggage guy
bye ru
ty judi
I once went to GB from Schiphol. Followed the whole path through the airport, finally into the tunnel.... all the way to the ground, where we had to climb a wooden crate to enter the very small airplane.
sounds like the airports in the Bahamas!
bye ruru
i think i will take a break too, my guard just walked by
it was really funny, lol. When we entered the plane, the steward actually tore our tickets and kept one piece. It was like getting into a bus or train.
bye for now, jmc
and he doesn't like you babbling?
schiphol may win the prise sprite
bye jmc, in case I don't see you before, have a great and speedy trip home.
Luggage cart? You mean they don't use and elephant or an ox?
lol no i am suppose to close the curtains and make sure all the doors are locked
Try to enjoy it - there's bound to be something funny.
small planes are better because a pilot has a vested interest in that if he put it into the ground,he will be just as dead as everyone else,i love the small cessnas, beavers and otter float planes of the north;)
the shame... of being seen Babbling...
no most things are carried and pulled by people here
phone, TTFN
poo my staff see me babbling all the time
blb
I wouldn't want the guards looking in the window of the rondevel [??]
poof*
I am down to the last word and just cannot see it/ It is a ta6/18 but not the one that mean to "tell on." Any clues would be appreciated! :)
crossy, it did exactly what it had to do, and we arrived in one piece. Most of the other passengers were business men.
I much prefer to think that all pilots have a vested interest in anything they fly and everyone they fly with. It's not like they can eject at the last minute before a crash.
Ta8: threadbare, ragged.
I love seaplanes but they are just as dangerous as any other single engine plane
hi cbr, don't have th4 one yet.
when we used to do fly in trips into the provincial park we used to land on lakes that looked like postage stamps...lol,you know your alive when you diving at a small lake at 140 mph lol
ta6 - either a kind of potato (Scots expression) or ta6/18 to tell on
ta6/19 rhymes with rattle and cattle
or sounds like the Fr actot
actor*
ta6/18 that is
Um, that's giving a bit too much away, 10s.
see you after dinner *poof*
terattle
lol 10,s ,we may be slow, but no need to staple it to our forehead
But I have that one anyway. It is the other that I need.
where I used to live, people would say "Is there something written on my forehead?" Is that the same thing?
lol
we say here: does it read KKQS on my forehead? Which would mean, translated: rotten jobs quick service
learning the local slang terms is so neat;)
no lickety again today???
No inge, I'm afraid not.
well, then I am out of here. cannot deal with printed list with my macular degeneration
oriental flip flops are in here
I know, inge. sorry you can't play today.
still looking, cbr.
inge, when i my wife plays her vision is 20/400 i jusp post the list to a notepad and because i use firefox as my browser i can blow each word up as large as i like
Thanks, sprite - it is so frustrating to finish early except for that one elusive word - especially since I think I have tried every combination that fits in the parameters!
i can make each letter the size of a puppy if i wish:)
I know the feeling! Hold on, we will get it.
Which word are you looking for, cbr?
The ta6/18 that doesn't mean to rat out.
irish spuds?
Isn't that one a ta5?
Just change one letter for a potato dish - change the final consonant to a vowel.
cbr: I have it. It ends in what business men wear around their necks.
*pondering* What to have for lunch?
ta6 is an option, Judi
No, it's ta6/18 .
You are my hero! Thanks so much! Now I can finish everything on my plate today!
yvw :)
Well done!
Hm. Trying to avoid the carbs.
Maybe Chinese.
chinese noodles, with a bit of sweet peppers baked with black pepper, and add some smoked salmon.
Haz, that must have been the saying I didn't know. I had the southern version of it as a ta5. Thanks all for your help. Hope you guys all have a great day!
you too, cbr
You too, cbr.
lol, that meal even though it sounds nice sprite, would probably give a body my size just enough calories to make it to the washroom and brush my teeth lol
really? I eat that as dinner, sometimes.
i am tired of skinless chicken,i am tired of endless steamed veggies,i am tired of measuring out margerine and oils with a micrometer, crossy wants some real food*stamps his feet*
But think how slim and gorgeous you'll be.
*hugs crossy* You are a hero, cross. Go ahead, stamp, hit a pillow, cry out loud and say some bad words. You have earned the right.
lol, never my main goal is to comb my hair without breaking into a sweat lol
and i am in my second month without bacon....gasp!!
Well, time I was going. Enjoy the grid and the rest of the day - bye for now!
tc haz
*sends crossy some bacon flavoured chewing gum*
lol ty sprite
bye Haz, have a nice day.
Bye!
Does it help the skinless chicken to marinade it in things like lime and ginger?
Fireworks. I'm off - sending you a special non-caloric gin and bacon, crossey. Goo day all.
you might try a rub of garlic, a tiny bit of brown sugar, spices and some liquid smoke, and grilling your chicken and veg
help with the de6/24 please
to find out, to see
can you help with the de 6/30?
duh - thanks jayk
I think I made it too complicated
to not live + sometimes vowel
**FIREWORKS**

Hi, Alice. Best to read the help section up there ^.
thanks
Also, down below under "Friends of Babble", click on "Babbler 4 Dummies".

anyone got the second "u" word, not ul5/14?
Msideb01: Ut5/12 - to murmur or whisper.
ut5/12
Ugh... how'd I miss that one? Thanks, Judi
are the clues up anywhere
i would imagine gremlinn has the clues
sobbing quietly for the lack of Lickety
looks like the new babble will render lickety redundant:(
yep, gremlinn's profile has them
Does anyone know when the new babble will take effect?
we should all chip in somehow and give him a thank you present for his years of work for us
*needs a good, swift kick back in the direction of getting work done*
kick
I think that is a really good idea crossy. I like the expert format as it has rekindled my enthusiasm, will need to see what 'new' babble is like
kick
*ouchie!*
how do I find gremlin in the rankings? I always forget Control?
snap
go to edit in your browser and click on find and type in gremlin and then it will find it on the page for you
don't lose control, bichon!!!
hi alice

my life has a soundtrack
all the songs of which are unknown to husband
mine soundtrack consists of red rubber ball, born under a bad sign, on the road again, night life (willie nelson), and amazing grace
and when i am lucky -- will you sleep in my arms tonight baby (willie nelson)
what about when John Lennon was killed, didn't you listen to the radio all night thinking "Oh, that was my favorite song then...."
actually was only a medium beatles fan
the beatles did cause me to break up once though
(and pb ruby)
me, too, prefered Rolling Stones but still, when he died, a cousin and I stayed up all night on the phone listening to the tributes on the radio
I hope everybody has th** by now....
i was dating this guy who was 10 years younger than I and we were dancing at a party and they started playing i want to hold your hand or something. . .
hahah
and i said oh a beatles tune and he said. . .
beatles beatles didn't they used to be paul mccarthney's back up band?
you're making that up! raofl
that was when i knew it would never work
lol..wings
no i am not as i live and breathe!
you can see why he had to go!
my husband doesn't get the references in Ask Alice -- doesn't know the song or even Alice in Wonderland. Imagine trying to explain that to somebody who is deaf!
poor lad..never had a chance
or the drugs.....
how could he not know alice in wonderland? *mystified*
he didn't believe in children's literature which goes far in explaining why his 3 children have no relationship with him.
sorry that is like not believing in china
he knows philosophy and business and classical music
that, too!
what did he read to the poor tykes? the bible? scientific tomes?
he didn't!
did not believe in books for children??!!
nor did their mother. It's unimaginable to me.
well i wouldn't talk to him either!
how did they learn to read??
I raised my son on rock and roll and all the children's books from The Golden Egg book on.....
that is SSOOOO cruel!
I'm not sure they did
I mean if he lived in a cow dung hut with no light i could understand it. . . .
lol, same here ,rock and roll and those cute little capter book series on winnie the pooh
I started reading when i was 4 (I was a late bloomer for my family)
I was still reading to him when he could read perfectly well, just because it was such a special time. When I read him Charlotte's Web, I was crying so hard at the end, that he read it to me!
I find it bizarre, too
i read aloud to my son until he was about 13 -- the last book was once and future king i think
it is so important!
we would read a book and then watch the movie if there was one
when my son was 3 he used to love me to read charlie and the chocolate factory to him
i never will forget watching to kill a mokingbird with him when he was 10
oh, and movies!!
and when he was a tot i read him good night moon every night for two years except the nights his dad did
unfortunately, he developed a taste for Clint Eastwood movies quite early!
we would talk about how the film was alike or different from the book
ahh fist full of dollars, hang them jigh, for a few dollars more..good old spagetti westerns;)
that is all lovely and my husband missed out on all that with his children
blech :-p
no, worse, Dirty Harry!
ack!
can you imagine, he has 5 grandchildren he doesn't know and now, one great?
help with the right hand i please
i can imagine he doesn't know them since he didn't know his kids either
I only have the "cooled off" one
lol same here jmc.one night he asked me"how come lots of good parts in the books are missing from the movie?" and i told him"that just makes books even more special, you know all the extras your friends do not"
it4/it5
ty ruby

pappilon is very good and vastly different from stephen king..i also rea azimov, herriot, clavell, poe, doyle, marry at,dahl,bradbury,cussler,donaldson..i am a well rounded reader jmc..i do not just read stevie lol
go to rankings and you can find gremlin there

as, I see.
what grade level stid?
terrified that my taking time on school is short-changing my children's last few years at home.
terrified that all the expense of school won't translate into employability...
ah, I see is what I wanted to type
stid.. you know.. they are growing away from us..and when they are gone..you HAVE to have something left for YOU!!!
I am teaching in middle school -- LOVE that age level, but the school is nearly 1 1/2 hours from my home on days when the traffic isn't bad...
oh dear, a lot of concerns, stid. what does your family say
thanks Kalyn, that's true. that's why I am back in school. *sigh*
and you do have to do what feels right for you
They say I should continue and do my best because even if I don't manage to be perfect I will be good enough.
my youngest is 20..still withme.. cuz of his disabilites.. but.. being single..and he is an adult.. you come to see.. you need something for you
it can take 90minutes to go 10 miles here. How far is the school, stid?
it's only 4 weeks of travel..and the experience will be invaluable
about 45 or 50 miles, seain, at the very north end of Tacoma before Federal Way.
well, TEN weeks of travel, actually. I start in four weeks.
and forgive yourself for lack of perfection, because how do we learn if we are already perfect?
oh, so traffic's not so bad there.
oh, there is that UL 5 again.
Stid my favourite bumper sticker said,
It's AWFUL, seain! they are doing an endless construction project...
I MAY NOT BE PERFECT, BUT PARTS OF ME ARE EXCELLENT!
not that that's an easdy commute! The distance is grueling
ahhh..still 10 weeks out of a lifetime..working in a level you love..
Bugs, i thought yuur icon was the CN tower, then clicked LOL It's a lovely photo
left column gray
Please try to remember this and it always helps kids who are feeling vulnerable too. In fact, the son who I got it for gave it to our family minister when he was in a low period.
Thanks seain. I liked it too so I am sticking with it for a bit. Changing every day was getting to be a chore
i'm going to step away for a bit. Happy babbling, yall!

not yet, NB, but thanks for asking. I got the right amt of gel in her ear last night and this am but she is still pooping in the wrong places and the living room smells like cat pee. My sister is upset about i and I can't blame her but I asked her to wait and see if the med works
all present and correct, Stid ;)
poor kitty, poor sister, poor peri. hopefully the meds will take care of it.
good. *nods mama head approvingly* choclits? *holds out box of lovely seashell-shaped choclit*
it's encouraging that you're able to get her to take the meds, though! my fingers are crossed for fast effective treatment..
is it vegan, Stiddie? :P
ty you stid and NB, your support is much appreciated
of course! *stern mama look* non-vegan choclit is fatal for me...
all choclit is vegan :)
yum, ty for the choclits,
vegan choclit? where do you get it?
actually.... most choclit in the United States has some sort of dairy product added. not sure why, the vegan stuff tastes better imho...
really, Stid? it ain't great for the animals either ;)
you're very welcome Peri, please let me know when you see some results! :)
will do, NB
various places, peri -- trader joe's has some, safeway has some... trying to remember some of the brand names I have seen at the co-op...
try this link, peri... http://tinyurl.com/26ruve4
well Trader Joes and safeway are right near me will have to check, a brand name would be helpful
assume there is an RH?
the link did not work. never have luck with tinyurl links :(
Mmmm, I could do with some chocolate about now. Just got back from work and completely starving - no food in the flat though. Will have to wait until tomorrow ;)
rh5/16, stidmama
NO FOOD???? hmph. *stern mama look* you need kimchee and soup!!!
Hello, all.
direct link http://www.veganstore.com/vegan-food-i tems/chocolate-bars-and-boxes.html?gcl id=CKjjsNHHkaMCFRJjgwoddQbGpA
hey Vi
thanks for the RH *thinking(
would you believe I'm the only Korean alive who dislikes kimchee? :P I have some gorrrgeous tea though.
Food is good.
(Words of wisdom from your friendly neighborhood Vicuna.)
that's not too unusual... I am probably the only person who NEVER liked spumoni ice cream...
Eh, not crazy about spumoni either, stidmama.
got it. only took four minutes to get ONE word.
On the other hand, I was once young and foolish enough to like bubble gum ice cream! Ack!
YES! got a 7
I hate ice cream full stop ;) love fruit ice lollies though. actually, just fruit in general. it's what I live on ;)
I LOVED ice cream when I was little. too bad it turns out that was part of why I was always so sick! *sigh*
and I have achieved NBT. down to 55, will return later to go for halfway.
No fair, stidmama. =(
Bye!
(((Hugs all))) have a lovely evening/afternoon/day! I am going to go paint a scarf!!!! *Poof*
see you later, Stid! enjoy...painting a scarf? alright :P
here's from 2006
http://www.qualitywordworks.com/scarf_ process.html
*real poof*
That stidmama is pretty darn sneaky to throw down an enticing link and then poof when everyone's looking at it.
lol! well I was playing cool and aloof and not looking at it until I finish responding to this email...
<=== Not cool.
41 left, bbs
Bye, peri.
Clues are up
ooh, good time to be online then. Thank you, Mr Lickety..
doing a happy dance and blowing kisses at lickety
steady on Katie, he's a married man ;)
throwing hugs at MrP to redress the balance
Well, you can't do fairer than that. ;)
ty Vi I like to be even handed
Does Mr McG now need to kiss MrP and hug Lickety, though, to make everything really come out even?
when is your trip NB
Now THATS what I call timing. I just logged in, to see Lickety's post. Yay!!
hallelujah
cu 6/27 ????
Sweet buttery Moses! Fireworks at last!
cu6/27 - having to do with a cu4/6
Yay for msideb01!
sy'smom cur + 2/3 frozen water
Never thought of Moses as particularly buttery, but why not.
sorry, take that r out of there cu4
congrats ms
and hi again everyone
just working on cus
anyone need clues before I take off?
did biot understand the cu 6/27 clue
not
None for me, thanks, msideb.
do you have cu4 sam'smom
i'm not getting the cu 6/24s
if you reduce paper to pieces you need a cu6
cu6/24 - one is a maker of knives, perhaps, the other is a cut of meat. They vary only int he last letter.
ty so much
and then there's the cu6/24 that describes what the butcher is when he produces the cu6/24 of meat...
got it, thanks
*wandering off to start dinner*
de 5/16 ??
de+fuel
THANKS GOOD
oh dear... must be off to bed and now I see I have 16 left
good evening all... guess bed must wait a little longer :)
did you see lickety was up sprite?
You can do is sprite
Hello s
Hic. Hello Sprite and everybody :-)
hi ssmom and LeslieAnn. No, had not seen it, but don't use it often.
Soodle! *hugggs*
well it is pretty useful in these have to go to bed soon situations ;)
that is true... but being bad and staying up too late is fun too ;)
For some of us, Life without Lickety is a disaster, said the Queen of the List!!
me too soodle
hi Katie
Hi Sprite, how you doing?
I feel everybody should play the way that brings the most fun to them, as long as it does not ruin the fun of others.
the golden rule of babble?
am ok, and how are you?
lol no, I am just a player, I cannot make golden rules ;) Just personal guidelines
Well, I think most Babblers would subscribe to that Spritey :-)
OKish, a lot going on a work at the moment with a new Government in but no sense getting worked up about it!
maybe that is one of the reasons babble is such a nice community ;)
I used to have a golden rule about not going to the list until half way through. I abandoned it about 5 weeks ago and have had great fun since :-)
hm Katie, no sense, but hard not to do it anyway?
hehehe wtg Katie!
<not a golden rule kind of guy my self...personally
hiya ruru :) that is twice today... how about a beer?
I'm finding the hardest thing is that I am not only worried about my job but feel a responsiblity for my team as well so end up worrying about 4 peoples jobs!
life under lickety....mmmm good!! afternoon all!
Hi Ruru. The beers are on Sprite ------> To the bar, everybody......
ouch Katie, that is stressful.
I think she means MR. P...
hiya Jilly
*rings the big golden bell above the bar*
Hi, all!
Jellen! *huggggs* How are you?
hi jellen
and we don't even have a timescale. Every meeting we go to it seems that another organisation has been binned so just have to be grateful we are still there for now :-) Makes for difficult small talk
Hi (((Jellen))), (((Jilly))) .
I'm pretty good...((hugs back))
*sending seriously supporting vibes to Jellen* And please give Tim a hug from me. Tough times :(
Hi Jellen
He's feeling much better today...
oh that is great news! Less vomiting now?
None today (knock on wood)!
oh that is great news
Good, how did the medication independence day go?
Jellen, delighted to hear that :-)
yay! Very good news.
He woke me up to get meds, lol...
I'm kind of here but not here, talking to a good friend on msn, but Jellen, I am very glad to hear that he's doing better :)
*hugs Nancy Boy anyway*
Thanks, NB
Hi Nancy - Did you get a beer? Sprite's buying.....
How's the grid, btw?
beers are on me, Nancy Boy
the grid is very interesting. I am finding it pretty tough.
did someone say beer? good time to join the party
hi Good Enough, have a beer on me!
Sounds good...I have a cold one in the fridge...but I'm trying to cut down on calories...
Why was the Irishman found on the roof of the bar? Cos he heard the drinks were on the house....
Hi, GE
lol that is the kind of joke the Dutch tell about the Belgians.
you should take very good care of yourself, Jellen... if you really feel like a beer, I think you more than deserved one ;)
fireflies! Wow, took some hard thinking and puzzling. Monkey is lying like dead, flat out on the floor.
Nah...I'll wait 'til later...
WEll,
WEll,
oops, well jellen, even a wake up is a begining?
*Calls MRT (monkey resuscitation tech)!*
Yay for sprite!!!
Oh no. Does that mean your leaving, Sprite? Could you leave some money behind the counter so we can continue the party?
nice soodle :)
Soodle, you know me! The bill is already settled, you girls and guys can go wild without worrying about the bill.
Yay for Spritey!!!!!
oh... the cabana bar boy says if it isn't enough, he will settle for a massage. So raise a party!
WhooHoo! Open bar!
ok, really really bedtime for me now. *hugs* to you all and have a good time.
Bye, sprite
Bye Sprite, and thanks for the party (((()))))
she sure knows how to throw a party
has anybody got any clues ??
I always find that virtual free beer always tastes better than virtual paid-for beer!
ok, cannot locate the 4th th4/5, help anyone
gi 7?
licket is up sarlise
th + two vowels Jellen
I'm off to bed see you all soon
pardon?
Welcome back saralise!! you are now confirmed addict

oops, now you see how desperate i am :-(
I swear this grid has no words in!
Hi Ata. You missed the free beer.
gi 7, please
darn!!
and I really swear that right hand C has no words!
gi7 - same as the ci7, an instrument that ends with a sea bird
gi7= Come 'n gi* it! + sea bird
tyvm vi
ty for the C Vi!
=D
Thanks, Vicuna
Anybody need anything else?
lots !
the 4th th4/5 please vicuna

man bag
ty GE
thanks !!
sorry, hang on...
re6/24 please
fourth th5 ends with a moon of Jupiter
or part of what you sign when you borrow money
re6/24 - if it ended with -ant it would mean not eager
hmmm...ah got it!
Thanks Vicuna
My pleasure.
offficially hit the brick wall !!!
*hands saralise an ice pack*
much appreciated vi :P
and a beer!!
haha yeah that would be great too!!
any one got the ten letter one out of interest ??
gotta take a break, bbl thanks all for the clues! :=)
Bye, Jillyjill.
Yep. Want clues ont he 10 yet?
I'll take a clue, please...
re10/91 - take the re6/24 that would have meant not eager and add past tense of consume to make re9... past tense for re10
(Past tense of original re6 makes re8)
Thanks, Vi!
reluctated
oops sorrryyy loool
Last call for clues?
(saralise, your re10 is showing!)
i know im stupid !! i wrote it in the wrong box :(
It's really too early for me...
lol - not to worry. It happens a lot. As long as it's not on purpose nobody minds! =)
Common mistake, saralise...
Okay, I'm off. Goodbye, all!
Bye, Vi...have a good night!
bye vi !! :)
bye vi
hello all!
Taking a break now...
I am going to write a quick note to the teacher who will be mentoring me this fall... and then back. wish me luck!
right im off for a break too ! see ya all later :)
back
hello everyone
back. hey jac!
okay, time to get to halfway. that's about 13 more words I think... (down to 79)
hey mama, sorry was lost in the grid struggling
me too jac, it's okay. ((hugs)) how are you doing? how's the weather for you these days?
the sun only came out here about 30 minutes ago. It's 3:20 in the afternoon!
it's cool and grey and damp, terrible for july, we had sun for all of 2 minutes
how are you?
I am well. I have a scarf stretching, so should be able to start painting once Mother arrives with the stidkid (he worked at her house this morning)
oh poo. *heads to PB*
reads carefullly in case it's a word i don;t have lol
yep. I get more words that way! LOL
gives up and looks hopefully for a clue
just reached halfway... do you know what you need?
ahhhhhhhhhh have th** one
I don't have any 8, 9 or 10 yet
ahhhh, well you know that re word for not really wanting to do something? well take away the last two letters for the picnic insect and add the past tense of eaten then past tense that too
that will give you the 9 and 10
we have been having such strange weather the last few years. Last year today reached 103 in Seattle... slightly higher here. Today it's close to normal, slightly below.
thanks jac. *thinking*
then take the remaining word after the picnic pest is removed and that's a 6 for you, then past tense that for an 8
wow. what a great word! *looks it up so I can use it in a sentence*
" i am re****ant to clue any further cos i am poopy at it"
how funny that the non-re version doesn't count!
i know
ty jac, I just sat down at the right time for your clues
LOL yw
hey chrissie!
hi stid
brb need a drink
of course, used in the mid-1600s, derived from latin *snorts*
I need a drink too... make mine a triple! *grin*
Morning everyone - I just found filthy lu***!
thanks for that one lynxxx!
could use a bit of that as well...
ty lynx
evening here and it's been a he6 day
there are 7 gu words including a 7/9 combo that ends like the 9/10
passes out triple OJ's
sorry 7/8 combo
thanks jac!
slips in triple vodkas
got the gu!
ohh voddie!!! mmmmmm
that would be like applying a resist to a fabric... *wonders if resist on the scarf is dry enough to start painting...*
mmm. thanks chrissie!
remember to take a pic and let us see it mama, please
I will jac -- have a "before" pic showing the scarf on the stretcher and the first resist on...
did you see the link to the scarves I did in 2006/2007?
no i didn't
I didn't do any scarves at all last year, here are the older ones http://www.qualitywordworks.com/scarve s.html
i saw you say last night i think that you hadn't done one for a while
and there is a link from that page to the process I use...
someday I want to take a class from someone who actually knows what they are doing. It's a steep learning curve.
GA 6/39??
those are lovely, may i ask how much you sell them for?
ga6.39 to fill with a ga*
ga6/39 is to do with changing something into not a liquid or a solid but a ga*
I never actually sold one. LOL I used to say $30... that's comparable to the ones I see in the stores that are more mass-produced
THANKS
my laptop is playing up, soething changed my default search engine and now it's lost wireless connection
oh dear, that's awful, jac.
grrrrrrr
what search engine is it trying to use?
thankfully i was stil wired up anyway
i didn't check i just changed it back and made it more secure
good for you. I hate it when things change with/out permission, they are so sneaky about it.
i know, so much for firewalls etc
maybe one day this year we will have a nice long simple grid
oh! I finally got the ga 6!
wtg mama
and Mother and stidkid are here. will bid you-all adieu with 49 remaining. back later to visit more and get a few more words. (((hugs all))) *Poof*
bye hugggs

hello, babblers!
i have been back three times jilly
heya welki
hello friends. This grid is making me very cross. Does any one have a hint for the n in the top corner, the r below that, or the y? Just cannot see words today!
my 3rd too...lol
heya trif
whoops - got the y....
n = like fish ne** stockings,
fish ME stockings!
the y: another word for wisemen but change the m toa y
rh*me and reason + short british goodbye
the rh, sometimes vowel and short word for thanks
I am ridiculously in love with you all right now. Thanks!!!!
lol
how're your kids, tri? particularly your daughter (the one you spoke about last week)
love is sucha fickle thing
love is in the air
ah, welki. she remains ON HER BROOM
the other two are okay. we are all having summer boredom issues.
ahh, witchy lil woman ... too bad you can't tie a dust rag to it and let her clean the house :)
secondo was unspeakably rude to mr. Ha4 yesterday -- enough so that it bugged even me, so that should let you know how bad it was
i love kids... i just couldn't eat a whole one
i'd recommend duct tape if it weren't for the issues child services would have with it
LOLOL Well -- I do definitely understand how some animals eat their young
rofl, the chat is VERY entertaining tonight! Almost enough to keep me from banging head against wall
i remember when my youngest was being a wild teenager and i locked her in the house, the little madam called the police
easy for me to talk, mine are grown :)
oof, Jilly, I took a SPECTACULAR spill on the rocks the other day at the beach (slipped on sea weed) and have an amazing bruise on my right hip. It is SO blue -- it looks like tattoo ink!
the very nice policewoman told her in no uncertain terms that i could loack her in the house, just not in her room LOLOLOLOLOLOL
our kids must be related .. at age 3, my oldest had a tantrum at the grocery. as i'm dragging her out, kicking and screaming, she's howling, "YOU CAN'T TAKE ME, YOU'RE NOT MY MOTHER!" (as if anyone else would have her)
ouch trif
good morning everyone -
oh wow welki
ouch! Hey, a tattoo would run ya <$100...so trifi, maybe you can sell the design!
my friends son was shouting for help out the car window and she was stopped
i looked around, said, "Any takers?" No one answered, so off we went.
interesting chat - why some animals eat their young!!!
When I listen to stories I am SOOO glad I had boys!
wow, my friends' son did that once in a toys r us store - he was playing on the little play set and didn't want to leave, so when his dad started to pick him up, he said stuff like "no no sir, I don't want to go with you! My real parents will miss me!" and the store people were getting really jumpy
lmao welki!
They say Grandchildren are your reward for not killing your kids
that is AWESOME welki!
kids are such little poops at times
it's true, day .. i'm loving watching the payback :)
LOL same here, when my daughters are complaining i just laugh and tell them about them being kids
Still waiting for my reward:(
Our youngest came home; we had run to store w/o leaving a note...he called the police...I had to remind him that a kidnapper probably would not take the dog!!
neither of my kids, now well into their 30's, show any sign at all of wanting to procreate
secondo was an absolute BEYOTCH to me at the open house night for incoming first years, where they booths set up for all the different clubs at the school. She snarked at me then stomped off in a huff. I promptly went over to the Gay/Straight Alliance booth and signed her up. IN BIG LETTERS
my youngests daughter is a poor sleeper, but when she complains about it i remind her that she didn't sleep for 18 months, screamed so much she had hernias all down her tummy and still ddn't sleep all night till she went to school
WTG trifi!
LOL trif
ta jilly
last week, my middle daughter wouldn't give my grand-daughter (she'll be 4 in december) something she wanted. she looked at her mom and mumbled, "You ruined my life." (such drama). My kid said it wasn't such a nice thing to say to her. My grand-daughter thought for a moment and said, "Fine. I'm sorry. You ruined my OTHER life."
LOLOLOL
i used to think teaching them to talk was the worst thing i ever did lol
oh ouch - thought I had NBT but I don't. Hint for the lone C on the right please? I promise that is my last one!
ci7/32, sounds like a place water is stored but change the s for another consonant to double up
C+vowel+consonant+vowel (hint: diag
that said, my oldest, her husband and my 1 yr old grand-daughter will be visiting next month from the states .. i will get to indulge the baby with reckless abandon and absolutely no remorse
NBT!! Bless you jac!
yw
way to go welki. That sounds like an excellent plan
i always indulge my grandchildren, they are my princesses and really lighten my days
you're lucky .. mine are far away
i am the one who digs in the muck with them and rolls down hills and sits on the stairs pretending to be a bus driver
it's my third or fourth childhood lol
well, must ramble off to dindin...come back for the 56 left...
jacq sounds wonderful!
enjoy, jilly
bye jilly
kadresa and i were just speaking of my grammy the other day. She never said no, or told us to pick up or anything. she was sooooo good to us!
clue for the cu6/24 - the first and second ones please?
the second is a chop perhaps, it is a cu**** of meat
rehaed
the first is almost the same but change the last consonant for the hooked one
Sorry!!! lost it for a minute...
then the first must be like kitchen knives .. .or a manservant with a different first letter
lol it happens
yes
thats a great clue welki
Ty Jacq - got em
champ, I will forgive you, but only if you put up a word that a) I don't have yet or b) is accepted by enable

she is going to her sisters 70th birthday party this weekend and wanted to feel good
tertiare has just informed me that I can babble for 30 more minutes, then I MUST go play polly pockets with her. Just shoot me.
I am sure she will be lovely, jac.
now she says she wants to make it a weekly thing with wine!! don't think the nails will be painted next time lol
yes trifioso *distracts tertiare with glamour magazine... lots of pics of teens in fancy dresses
tertiare would not be swayed by such a thing....future president of the Ellen DeGeneres fan club, she
time for bed i think, have fun and fireworks everyone
well wait.... maybe she WOULD like to look at pretty teen girls....just not in frilly dresses, I guess
okay... *teen ink replaces glamour magazine*

how do you spell the word for deliriously happy? homophone for XTC? I have been trying it every which way. I guess it's a phantom
ectasy
ecstasy
is that right?
ecstasy usually...
ecstatic...
I was wrong :(
loopy works for me
detach...another phantom
i can't tell anymore. I have been entering it so many ways I have lost all abilities to make it look like a real word
i call it 'long weekend"
well, I am not wrong often :)

welcome Pro Champ
not yet, but there should be! hi friends!
yes I've got the 21st on my calendar; just awaiting specifics
good. We are hoping to spend part of the morning at the Olympia Farmer's Market, and then go to Mercato for a light repast for a couple hours.
no champ, but we do have support groups... LOL (not personally addicated, you understand)
any ehlp for the i words besides froze water?
thx River
Sounds good, I've never been to Mercato; I'll have to check it out.
that will minimize driving for folks who may not be real familiar with the area.
i4/6 - scratch it
it4, it5
I haven't either, not much on their menu I can eat, but Mother says it's quite a nice place.
doh! ty!
thanks for the i words. right column grey!
yw

yep, got it; are we doing lunch
ty
ugh. one F to go.

I think so, the menu is priced more reasonably
I believe! Laptop will be out of battery, and my stiff body will still be attached to it...sad...so sad!
ok, checking it out now
whoooo - right column grey! what is it, like, 10 words?
and if we shoot for around 2:30, people can eat an actual lunch at the market (cheaper) and then just have a salad or soda

That was last week, I think...

I'm done jilly - just stopped in to offer my help - lol - you all have got it covered
de5 with the sometimes vowel
de6 - what the investigator does
back to begging, almost done but cannot fine the cl words...
thanks river
cl7 is a mess - stuff piled everywhere
de 6/24...when you're looking for something you're a de6/24 + tive
cl4/8 - poor children with a cl** pallet
sort of anyway
ahh, went wrong direction with both of them
and thought pallet one ended in a t
these things happen...
it does jillyjill, this cl4/8 is the musical sign
cl4,8 is a musical term. Treble or Bass are the most common.
I should have said sounded like - bad river
i got it river, first try

lol, night jilly!
Night Jill
how about the right side C?
Good question feather
ci7/32 is the right c
actually, they are both the same consonant+vowel+consonant+vowel
right side C is ci7, rhymes with a gi7
(and hi all)
That's like a thing that holds water, but replaces a consonant with the double consonants...
went
ty torgone
ty for both
k
ty Gwen
The left r is rh5/16 but I don't have it yet
i also would like clue for the left-side R
rh5 - rh + the 'sometimes' vowel + british for 'thank you' :)
Couldn't think of a way to clue it...thanks NB!
Couldn't think of a way to clue it...thanks NB!
TY nancy (and guess what, that british "thank you" is not familiar to most of us Muricans, even the ones who watch lots of british TV)
ty NB
What are the stats for the y?
anyone care to hazard a clue for the re 9, 10
skype kje, so i can tell you when i went? which i did, btw
ya 4/8 Like the bear in the old cartoon...

i learned the british thank you from babble!
ty Champ. NBT
ok, over halfway and got nbt, getting the list
i learned it here, too, then i heard it on DoctorWwho so now it's a "real" word in my brain LOL
has it been an hour already feather? ;)
that was to finish! 30 minutes since i started.
Settle down buckaroo!!!

evening all
hi pini!
hiya weed ;)
Hello Pinikula! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
hiya min ;)
want to hear a funny story?
no, she doesn't!
hiya kje...go for it!
I have an intern who is a foreign medical graduate so english is not his first language
ga6 please?
oh, THAT story. having nothing to do with me. ok. go for it.
uh oh
today when answering a page, the medical student hears him say to the nurse on the other end of the phone "will you please hold me"
so the student grabs him and says "what did you just say"
Hello kids!
hiya scrabs
he says " I ask-ed the nurse to hold me"
hi scrabs!
the student says, "do you mean to put you on hold?"
Hi Scrabbler! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
a little "friendly", eh, kje ;)
so he tells me tonight that for the last 28 days he has been asking nurses to hold him
hold me, touch me . . . hold me, touch me . . .
My netbook got fixed and I just spent the evening re-installing Firefox + add-ons.
LOL!
LOL kje!
instead of to put him on hold while they look something up
Great story, kje
I cracked up - and told him the nurses are definitely now telling stories about him
* giggle *
A ga 6/27 word means to come together featherbee.
Yep, they will tell that story forever
congrats scrabs...welcome back!
oops, meant the ga6/39
the funny thing is, he is not at all the lecherous type of guy who would ask the nurses to hold him, he was mortified when he realized his mistake
Next I will bring in my desktop to get tuned up--it is SLOW
yep, scrab... can't you hear them in their breakroom!
just found that ga6 = petrol + ending meaning to make something (look for high-calue letters)
poor thing, kje...
calue = value (OY)
TY, BDG
thx gwen ;)
ahh, ty
"will you please hold me?" I am still laughing
8-D
I'm sure he'll never live it down! ;)
gu 8?
I would have loved to have seen the nurse's face the first time he asked that
Especially new interns--they get brutalized + abused by everyone
especially one of the male nurses
A gu8 word is the past tense of A gu7 word mungekin
gu8 = the eaves on your roof, but change the ending into a verb
oh, to have been a fly on the wall when he said that to a male nurse! :)
ours get brutalized by some of the asshole fellows or surgeons when they try to call in consults, but for the most part, the nursing staff is very supportive
and very patient
Some attendings made me cry when I was a resident, but I never gave them the satisfaction of seeing me cry.
i must say, no one made me cry as a house officer, though I was so tired at times I wanted to cry just from that - but we had awesome attendings, and even the ones who weren't I never really took personally
clue for the first cu6,24 please
cu6y - utensils
cu6 rhymes with the man who runs your mansion
One of the NICU attendings was nuts + OCD + yelled at us re every decision we made, esp overnight, e.g. vent changes
ty kje
cu6/24:what a scissor does plus I **a*ned how to knit
29 left. racing kje's hour.
i had a micu attending who told my program diretcor that i was obstructionist after I refused to write an order to sedate a patient who was asking to leave (it is illegal) - my program director congratulated me
Good for you, doing the right thing!
he said it is a badge of honor if that particular attending didn't like you
well done, kje! :)
So that attending like the passive, submissive residents?
but i was older when i went back to med school, so I had seen more and knew people better... some people are just asses and you can't take it personally
that attending was a jerk...
hope i never get stuck in a hospital that sedates *me* if i want to leave. sounds like a prison
c's conquered
lu5 please?
well done, wht
ty
Cool wht!
Yep, there are a lot of meanies that have power/control/ego issues. How did we ever get through residency, kje? I taught 3rd yr students yesterday and I felt so sorry for them
was a young guy who had come in intoxicated and it was NY eve and the attending said if we let him go he would just go out and get drunk and hurt himself
I said, that may be, but we cannot keep him here aginst his will
lu5, "filthy lu***"
he then asked me if i had children and i said no, so he said i cannot have an opinion about it
th Gwenn
so i quietly handed off the chart to the fellow and said, i will not write that order
what a jerk, kje
Ooops. ty.
you can't have an opinion? OMG what an asshole
that's like saying i cant have an opinion about the death penalty unless i've been executed. LOLOL
she wrote it, and i told my chiefs who called an ethics consult - the next morning the guy was gone, apparently he decided to let him wake up and leave that afternoon
itty should be a word, itty bitty
i figured he must have a kid with problems or something and was reacting to that rather than the young man we had...
I agree, shirlock
i agree shirl
ci7?
kje, i agree. and also good for you, you got guts
i tried itty
teeny is a word so itty should be one too, only fair
not guts, I was a brat - LOL
That ci 7/32 word rhymes with gi 7/36 word Pinikula.
ci7, rhymes with a gi7, medieval instrument (sounds like an indoor toilet)
G's Gone! 3 left
i've been telling you you were a brat! you finally admit it!
Here's a story to help you be grateful, Feather: I saw newborn triplet boys--natural conception, no fertility drugs. The parents ALSO have a 6 yr old boy and 2 yr old twin boys (also natural conception). Recipe for insanity!
isn't an indoor toilet called a toilet?
re help please? re6/24?
lol book, i read that at first to mean the instrument sounded like a toilet, so had to wonder a bit... then I realized it is the word that sounds like a toilet
good lord!
re****ant - not eager to do something
Just imagine, Feather!!
got it!
actually, got both!
fire-freakin'-works!!!!
no thank you! eek! hope they're ready!

But it's not in the grid. I am confused with the clues

Had a hard time with them too...

stuck on the middle 4 re's :(
have you been in contact with bugs and flo?

(the part that got left out was "I've been struggling...")
Not lately, stid -- must get orgranised.
I need that one also shirlock
gu8???
do you know if you are coming down via pt angeles or seattle?
I'm absolutely exhausted today -- sleepless night.
gu 8 is artist resist medium, ends like food consume word, the 8 is past tense
cu7? after the piece of meat?
sorry to hear that jill. anything I can do to help?
stid, I'm hoping bugsaw will be driving but haven't been in touch -- she offered some time ago if we didn't have too much luggage for her car.
de 6: what a police inspector does
Nothing you can do about the sleeplessness, thanks, stid.
okay, I sent her an email earlier to ask if you ladies had made final plans for transportation...
or what sam spade did
how about I call you when I wake up between two and three tonight? *wink* at least then you know you will be asleep... LOL
thx stid
thanks nan!!!
can anyone clue the cu7?
the gu clue is over my head
cu 7 - slice your years
cu 7: cu* with a knife, double cons, how old you are
Can you recommend a hotel? What about the other residents of this area such as raelite and saanichcat?
re 9-10, please?
All this is better henadled by eamil I think.
nan, that is like to be unwilling to, ends in years rather than picnic pest
I'm sorry, gang, I'm too tired to clue comprehensibly.
email is better, saanichcat didn't respond to my email a couple months ago, raelite may or may not come. have to write to hetty and see how she is
the 10 is past tense of course
the re 8 that comes after drops the eating term
henadled = handled, duh.
it's okay jill, tired is rough
mmm -- must be using the wrong word for unwilling as the one I tried didn't work
still need those cu 6s after the "sweetie" term
tired and stressed -- never mind, can't explain here.
*I was using the 6 before the 9
re + your ***k is running out + little man ****
((((jilll))))
cu6/24 -- one who makes knives and forks
next su6/24, veal cu****.
little man?
sorry -- next cu6/24

little man **** was a jodie foster movie

ooh -- so annoying -- reluctage is not there and I can't think of anything else!
down to 7
so close, nan!
nan, end with consumed
gogogo stod!
got it -- I thought the clue was + years, not + consumed
duh, not stod, stid :(
SA 7 please?
sa7 -- Louis Armstrong lost his tail on the overhead railway
Is that cryptic or what.

Oh, you got it? :)
rofl... it was a bird that eats fish!
