cyber can you give me the stats on the R second column?

An hour before the flip, Lickety announced that the clues were up -- apparently there is a time change in Oz and he didn't do it or something

late flip; hi all and nbt! hugs jili; stid; pav; vash; hi mlf nan anyone I missed...
re8./55
hi dee
first, I cleaned the toilet with a mixture of borax, baking soda and white vinegar...then I had my husband go to our local home depot store and buy a bottle of ZEP for $5. put the ZEP in the bowl, under the rim, and allowed it to soak for an hour. brushed and flushed..and no more rust stains.
hey dee! *returns hugs*
hi dee hi :)
hi Dee!...and ruru snuck in...
:~) hi ru
re 8/60
Did lickety ever show?
wow! that is something even I might be able to do. thanks angelsong! ((hugs))
rurur????
not yet, jellen
yep. there he is.
hi ruru
and me on my way out. back tomorrow. *more hugs* *CHOCLIT* *Poof*
G'night, stid!
8's so far: be, re x2 -- any others been called?
bye stiddy
Zep is environmentally friendlier than many similar products...and by the way, never try to clean rust stains with chlorine bleach, because the chlorine bindes to the iron oxide particles in the rust and sets them in and they are much harder or impossible to remove
ro8 nan
ar8 nan
ar 8 x 2, de 8, ro 8, and a be 8 also
He's still on Facebook if anyone wants to remind him...I'm going to bed now...
Happy hunting!
goodnight Jellen
night Jellen
ANgel...would the same method hold for removing rust stains from outdoor brick patios?
PAV...the company that makes ZEP also makes a brick and patio cleaner, plus others.
just messaged Lickety on FB -- no reponse although he is supposedly online there
the former owner of my condo kept an old wooden half barrel planter on the patio and then when she moved out it stayed behind , a lot less for wear and attempted removal...
did she have you over a barrel pav?
I see Lickety started playing Frontierville on FB an hour ago -- guess he's forgotten about us.
the HOA did ruru...three weeks after I moved in...and no I ain't biting...
can't see those ar 8's
both are related, build on ar 6
what ar8s? Have you found a list, nan?

hello arb
hi arb
they have been around forever and we keep saying we'll get one but never do

I want to get our old movies put on dvds or something.

YAY Lickety !!! xxx
We had daylight savings here overnight
just in time for the r's YAY!!!!
Some one let me know when you have it there - how many weeks away?
not until Nov 7 this year lickety
Thanks for the list, Lickety.
very late
why is it so late west?
shh! don't tell anyone...I started with everything cable, 'cept phone, cancelled he digital cable (at the time there were only a handful of digital stations) and returned the digital box...a year later I cancelled the extended tv service that should have left me with just the basic main stations...this past March I then cancelled the whole tv lineu..keeping just the internet access...and I still get the extended tv service! since the tv service and internet access are run through the same stream, they can't split them out (unless you need a cable box)
We're on Daylight Saving NOW and go to Standard time on Nov 7
pav we'll never tell
I hate Standard time --it gets dark so early.
totally agree
dee I don't know I had nothing to do with it lol
Morning people like it but I'm a night owl.
it's like summer never happened
lol... I just hadn't heard why it was different this year... and so late
I know let's all move to Australia
as soon as I win the big one...it's Queensland here I come!
might be so the Trick or Treaters don't have to go out in pitch dark
oh, west... funny story
hubby stopeed by his mom's to see how she was doing... she is still feeling great... and she had purchased her wig last week (for later)... wig cut similarly to her own hair, but guess what....????
what??
instead of getting same color, she got one with less white... said to hubby... the other one had so much white in it... hubby said... mom... you are 76 and your hair IS white.... anyway she got one with less white
she sounds like my mother..doesn't want to look like an old lady and she's 94
that'll give her spirits a lift!
exactly!!! Even wears toe rings (which made the radiation department crack up when they tried to get them off)
toe rings ?? that's perfect
only 73 left...til tomorrow then! g'day evyone
goodnight Pav

jilli how was the dinner theatre?
hello all - my goodness can just imagine what the re list looks like
hi ursh -- I don't dare look!
lol me too jilli
dinner (luncheon) theatre was a blast. Very clever one-man performance.
wish we had them used to love going when we lived in Virginia
The Wingfield Farm plays are Canadian classics.
was the one man show someone playing a historical character ?
No -- he plays all sort of different parts, from a small-town newspaper editor to a farmer, to a businessman neofarmer, to you name it. Amazing. All different voices, different facial expressions.
that sounds so entertaining
This play was about how the canny farmers plus the businessman foiled a condo development in the countryside. Done as letters from the businessman to the newspaper editor.
It's very funny.
did he have many props when he changed characters?
just switched hats and occasionally a bit of clothing.
It all spurred our own imaginations. Brilliant.
would have liked to see it
It'sw been on the CBC, I believe -- wonder if it's online.
what was it called?
This one is Wingfield's Progress. There are several Wingfield plays. The actor has been doing it for 25 years.
I should say doing *them*.
Wingfield being the fictional town?
I think the town is Persephone -- let me check the programme (hehe, Brit-Canadian spelling)...
it's okay to add letters to words lol
Yes, it's Persephone Township, in Southern Ontario. The "businessman" is Walt Wingfield.
I'll have to see if I can find it
we get one Canadian station here but it's all in French
The actor is Rod Beattie and he has played many other parts. I see that "Rod and Walt made their American debuts to great acclaim at the Cincicnnati Playhouse in the Park in January 1994."
Oh yes, I know about that French station -- I think it's the one which reaches Tadoussac too.
I was copying all the info so I can look further
Oh, I see Rod won the "Critic's Award" in Sarasota in 1995.
we have a playhouse here in Ogunquit ( no dinner ) I wonder if they'll ever get it?
them I should say
here's a clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6o7u29 Rvm0
thank you I'll watch it now
...meanwhile, back at the 30 re words...
that was hilarious..how does he do that?
Amazing, isn't he!
sure is..can't imagine how he keeps it all straight
Yes -- the Editor appears only at the beginning and the end and he gets the voice right .
maybe he had a multiple personality disorder lol
has*
That stage set is pretty much the same one we saw. Today there was a ladder too, but he just sat on and extended rung of it at times.
he looks familiar
I think he has one of those familiar faces, if you know what I mean.
I do
I see that there is a Douglas Beattie Theatrical Productions Ltd. which markets CDs and DVDs of the Wingfield plays. (Douglas is Rod's brother).
oh good I'll have to get some
nothing like keeping it in the family lol
He is the director. Dan Needles is the playwright. You can probably google all these people. I'm just getting the ingo for today's programme, which I hadn't looked at carefully before.
I need something to keep me occupied on the plane..made our reservations for San Diego today
(just wondered if I was due for the PB, saying "info", but I see I'm safe. No N here today.)
that's what's missing lol
I wanna go to San Diego! Bro- and sis-in-law are on a cruise to there at present.
oh nice you should have gone with
that would be a great cruise
I was definitely NOT invited. They never let me know their holiday plans until just before they go, so I can never book to go along.
They want to be aloooone.
I would LOVE to have gone with -- they're good company, but...!
that's unfortunate alone with what a thousand or so people?
well, what can I say? I guess they don't mind strangers. You know -- three's a crowd.
when we went on a cruise for our 40th anniversary our friend Bob came along..he'd lost his wife and my best friend 9 months before
That's something a lot of us widows discover. Couple want the company of couples, not single women.
I think that goes for widowers as well
That was lovely for Bob -- and you too, I'm sure.
we ate dinner with him..he didn't share our cabin lol
Not so much, I think. Extra men are always welcome.
now he travels everywhere with his cousin Mary Ellen..
she never married so it works well for both of them both are retired
wouldn't a babble cruise be nice? paid for by Dr God?
When I first came here, T & C (bro- and sis-in-law) and T's nephew B and his wife M and I went to Maui (I was included by the nephew). We all stayed in the same hotel, which had kitchen facilities in each room, but T & C made sure we had our meals separately except that we each took one turn making a meal for the others. And we had one meal together in the dining room at the beginning and one at the end of the stay. So that meant that in the 2 weeks we were there, we had 5 meals together. We would see T & C on the beach, but they would wander off after a while. B & M would stick around. Well, M was in a wheel-chair, but still... T & C like to "have their space", they said.
Hello West & Jilli. Its seems like a very doggy grid today, just up Jilli's alley
that's really awful
Hi lyn!
hi lyn
an extra hour for you today?
I thought it was a bit odd.
I think it is a bit odd too
does you sister in law run the show?
Yes, pretty much.
But we do have a great time together -- when we're together!
yes, always feels a bit odd when it switches on.
well at least that's good
You finished all the packing West?
down to the last bit lyn we leave tomorrow
Sadly, B's wife died a couple of years ago. Very sad. She had muscular dystrophy, but then got breast cancer and preferred to go that way rather than the other inevitable decline. She was about 62.
washing our bed linens in the morning and cleaning out the fridge
i was on holiday for 2 weeks with my best friend and our grandchildren and it was the worse two weeks of my life...never again
steed
Yes, that can happen, donna!
oops sorry
oh jilli I remember that you were very close to her
How sad and relatively young Jilli. So she made a decision not to have any treatment at all? very brave
lol donna didn't the kids get along?
the kids were fine..it was us!!
yes, she was a wonderful person and a barrel of fun. A lawyer, who told all the lawyer jokes.
I like to be up and out and I'm quite organised
I hope you're still friends donna
she dawdled about every morning...it was midday before we left the hotel most days
That's what she did, lyn -- but apparently chemo and her muscular dystrophy are incompatible too.
jilli you will always have your wonderful memories of her
True, west.
oh donna I can still hear my father's words to me..don't dawdle lol
such a waste ....were fine now. but just shows that over 40 years of being great friends .... I didnt know this side of her.
it wasn't me there with you was it?
Donna, she's probably a late waker like me.
hahaha...My dad also said the same to us and he made us walk everywhere when we were children...it might be me then
I was offered a chance at a travelling companion a little while ago, but he is a very early riser (like 6 am), wants lunch at about 11 am and supper at 5 at the latest. I declined on those grounds.
Its been just one year today since I lost my dad...very sad
(We weren't going to share a cabin)
oh that's a shame donna it will get better
lol Jilli
my husband and I get along very well..he takes the daylight hours and I take the dark
I hope so Westford. x Well in raining heavily here in Manchester UK and I have a roast dinner to prepare as my Aunt is coming dinner. Catch you all later...x
I really must get to bed -- library job tomorrow and an old friend coming to SSI from Ontario, so may not have any time to babble. 115/79 now.
bye Doona (wish I was there)
Bye Donna -- have fun -- give my regards to Corrie.
bye donna enjoy that dinner..are you making yorkshire pudding?
night Jilli
you read my mind West
since it's nearly 4 a.m. here I should get going too..I have exactly 100 left
oh lyn doesn't that sound delicious?
Yep...maybe I'll look up some recipes and make a 'proper' roast beef next weekend. Could be fun
the last time I looked at rib roasts I thought about getting a second mortgage
if you do I'd like an invitation
My Maryland-bred cousin (well, my NY cousin's hubby) didn't know what Yorkshire pudding was when they came to us for a visit years ago. When he saw the ones I did in a muffin tine he said "Oh, those are Eastern Shore dumplings!"
thanks for the tip - muffin tin sounds perfect
wonder if Yorkshire people settled on the Eastern shore
I did a small roast beef and Yorkshire pudding when my son came for a visit a week or so ago.
gee everybody is having roast beast except me
Maybe, west!
You can do it too West
hi all.
that's a beautiful place..James Michener lived there
Son doesn't have it often -- d-i-l is a vegetarian and calls it "carrion".
hi m
although I worry about roast beast - which beast are you cooking
hi m9 :)
maybe I'll make one for hubby's birthday
hi m9
Bison is getting popular here -- very tasty.
I'm allowed one carrion on my plane trip
ha ha west
lol
I knew somebody would come up with that.
it's not original but I had to do it
Well, bed for me, NOW!!! Goodnight/day all...and *poof*
now that would be a good way to get back at all the snooty attendants..bring some roadkill
good night jilli and thanks for the Wingfields
before I go does anyone have the stats for the 9..jilli thought it was an re word
not me, only got up to a couple of 8s

re 7 re + put in a fixed way.. re9 past tense of re 7
re 7 re+ or5 12
ty pms!
Hadn't really started on the re words yet, tend to leave them till last.
Very quiet in here. Is anyone else here?
*yawn* I'm half here :)
Was pondering walking to the paper shop for the Sunday Papers but as the wind is blowing the rain sideways I might give it a miss.
Same weather here. Chickens have umbrellas up, cats are far too sensible and sprawled around in indolent positions.
Hows the grid today?
Ooh, just found a lovely be 8/60 all on my own :-)
yay!
Grid not too bad really. Got the first half very quickly, and now just finishing off the B words and the *&^%$ R words.
and we all love re words don't we :)
I leave them till last usually, because by then I can probably just add re to what I have :-)
thats what I do too. I am going to pootle off and put my feet up and read yesterdays paper and dream of sunshine.
Planning next trip to Venice, so me too :-) Have a nice day FM.
what do i do now ?
*perks up* Oh Venice! Wonderful city, when are you thinking of going?
Find words and add them in the Add Word box. You will find the Help above this chat box very useful.
Spring, FM. Last time we took the sleeper train, but this time we are planning a daytime route, so probably Eurostar, then to Zurich, stay overnight then through Alps during the day to Venice via Milan.
We like train journeys :-)
Then we will stay in the little flat we stayed in last time. Much more fun, you shop with the locals etc.
Don't like hotels much :-(
SGood itinerary. My perfect way down there if £ was no issue would the the Orient Express and stay at the Cipriani (sp) hotel.
but in reality your way is much more fun.
Don't fancy the Orient Express personally, too posy (posey?) and don't fancy the dressing up :-)
do you speak Italian?
I speak a bit FM, trying to do a refresher at the moment at evening school because I am very bad at self-motivation.
Italian trains are brilliant.
HAd a great trip with my parents when I was young and we spent a month in Italy, Florence, Verona, Venice and yes their trains are v good.
I have a personal maxim that it's rude to go to another country and expect them to speak English. I am horribly embarrassed at the behaviour of some English people abroad.
So you speak Italian FM?
A month .... goes into a dream.
no fraid not what little I knew has long gone.
Would love to spend a month there.
I find learning languages incredibly hard. I just don't have that gene in me but I can get by on some basic French still.
I was lucky enough to learn French from a very early age, so speak quite good French and passable Greek, and about three words of German! Find German hard.
I am also re-learning Latin in my old age, to keep the brain cells alive.
good for you! Latin roots are in so many languages.
Yes, we have such fun in our Latin classes. Don't remember it like that at school.
You want to try learning Turkish, Sally. I studied it for a year and it is so hard, because it has few, if any, links to latin. Hi, all.
Actually, I think I might pass up that kind suggestion hydra!
Hey hydra!
Tried to learn a bit of Norwegian before we went to Norway, and found that incredibly hard.
Any language where one to five is bir, iki, ooch, durt, besh, is best avoided!
Hello FMitch!
I remember a business colleague trying to learn Japanese.
iki LOL
That is really hard. My friend's son learned it as he had a Japanese girlfriend. Then he ditched her for an Italian!
From watching the Swedish Wallander on iPlayer, I now have a few words of Swedish! However, the words dead and murdered are probably not going to be very useful on any future trip.
good afternoon all
And right on cue here comes the polyglot sprite.
Hi sprite. Yes, Sally, I think you'd best forget those words.
Unless you are visiting the Swedish version of Midsomer Murders :)
lol
Hey spritey sprite!
it is said that only Chinese is farther away from dutch and english than Japanese. I studied Japanese for a year and a half and I agree. It is a totally different structure of language.
Just had such a sad sight in the garden. A manky looking young fox with most of its tail missing. Must have been in an accident.
aw that is sad
but at least it was only part of his tail that is missing.
The foxes in London don't look that healthy to me.
And they don't really need a tail. Maybe it's a new fox fashion!
can you tell I'm a glass half full person (sometimes).
Check the collars of your neighbours' coats :-)
of course they need a tail. Or they would be born without one.
We are out near Heathrow, lots of farms and fields, and see some quite healthy ones.
What I meant was, they can survive Ok without it.
oh I understand now. Yes, they can.
Ah, OK hydra. "London" is a big area. My son lives in Dulwich and I don't think the ones out there look too good.
Here of course they are very healthy, usually fed on chicken and rabbit :-(
Dulwich is nice, as London goes.
Your chickens, Sally?
Yes it is, very green.
I was out in the garden very very early the other morning and I am sure there was a fox in the churchyard as there were some grizzly sounds and crunching going on :(
Not any more hydra. Lost three this year in broad daylight at two different times. Now have electric netting.
Ugh! Wish you hadn't told us that, FMitch!
Grizzly sounds? Sure that wasn't a brown bear FM?
sorry.
yep, that is nature for you
Oh Sally, poor hens. We had a sparrowhawk kill a pigeon in the garden yesterday. There's a pic on my wildlife blog.
Don't see too many brown bears in Billingshurst :)
Don't worry, FMitch. Great alliteration, BTW!
There's always a first time FM.
lol
The Beastly Bear of Billinghurst!
Where is your wildlife blog hydra? Would be interested to read that.
Hello

good morning everyone. Have you noticed that there are far too many r's in the world?
hi Eva, so far they accommodate a lot of words for me
Hi Eva
they are doing their usual tricks on my mind
I counted 41 R words
I managed to find a compound phantom. Am so proud. Not alive + place to sleep.
where are the rules
Is that right that there 41 R words?
In the help section abouve this chat box blue.
blue kelly, I told you, look at the Help section above this chat box.
blue kelly, try the Help section (top of page) or Angelsong's help pages (link at bottom under Friends of babble). Welcome to the game.

morning carlee
oh I found a vowelless word
hi there eva
oooh-share?
Hi Carlee
hi heirn..hows you?
a very cold word
hi carlee
hi there sprite :)
glad to see you, how are you today?
waking up...its cold and wet here...8 c...windy and rainy..
Wow, I never would have guessed that vowel-less word was really a word. Thanks Sprite.
hi Molly, yvw
Hi Molly
we are having a summery day on Oct 3. Rain and wind yesterday, now 21 degrees C and just lovely!
and you...
how nice....that is good to hear...
Good morning all.
so...i have a funny story an event that took place at our local dutch store
please share
recently i went to a local fair with a girlfriend of mine who is dutch...and we bought corn dogs....as she and her daughter are eating them she says...these kinda taste a bit llike "blahblahblah" ( not knowing any dutch... that is what i heard )
Afternoon all - hope u are all well - any clues for the nine please
hi Kazz, don't have it yet, sorry
a few days later i find a recipe for corn dogs....and figure..ok..i am going to make them...look easy enough..but always looking to improve a recipe..i think..ok...whatever this "blhablhablah" the daughter who is a teenager...knows it too..must be a pretty common addition to food... so i head off to our dutch store thinking..they will know what "blahblahblah " is that one would add to batter
so..i go in...announce i an there..b/c i am making corn dogs....briefly explain the story as you now know it..and we start going over spices...and stuffs..."no i didnt taste curry..no..there were no flecks of green so not that one no parsley... no..no cumin...no..no nutmeg..."
re7...re+place a take out *****, re9 past tense
thanks Molly
the woman is completely stumped...asked another woman... 3 of us then 4 of us standing there...trying to figure out what it is that they tasted in the corn dog batter
finally...i ask for a phone book.....so i can call my girlfriend at work...." Suzanne...we were at the fair...we ate the corn dogs....what did u and samantha taste....oh...."Ollie Bollies"...I said to the women..ollie bollie???? they all yell out OLLIEBOLLENS!!!!!!!
roflolllllll Oliebollen! Traditional New Year's treat.
that...is my funny dutch store event last week..BTW the corn dogs..KICK ASS with 1/4 cup of ollie bollen mix sub for 1/4 of the 1 cup of flour needed in the batter
i have a feeling i was the LMAO customer of the day..likely even week or month
that is so funny! And wonderful you got something out of it anyway.
What the heck is it Carlee?
wanna have the pronunciation?
heck if i know I am not dutch....i just made the corn dogs...
Never mind I looked ti up
it is batter with or without raisins or other additions, lady, then fried in oil. We eat them around New Year. Very traditional Dutch treat. You will find them on carnivals too.
Is it like: poffertjes
prolly where a "dutchie" donut came from...is batter with raisins...honey dipped
hm no. Poffertjes are small puffed up pancakes, a very different batter.
Ok
makes sense, carlee
Wow, two completely different tastes, ollibollen and corn dogs. I guess the corn dogs being fried was the connections.
I love the poffertjes. We went to the tulip festival and they had them.
Or the connection.
poffertjes are great.
perhaps the fried layer around the corn dogs are similar to the oliebollen.
Still sounds tasty
they are. Very much so. But fat! So it is good they only come around once a year.
i just know those were the best corn dogs i have ever had..i made a dozen with the huge all beef weiners in there....they were gone in a matter of miniutes ( i had 2 spare kids arond..as per the norm)
yummy! Can you share the recipe, carlee?
the friend layer is flour, sugar, cornmeal, baing powder, salt and buttermilk...it called for 1 cup flour...i used 3/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup of the oliebollen mix
I have 30 left nothing in my head
am finding this a hard grid too, lady. Feels like I tried everything already.
the fried*...was 3/4 cup cornmeal, 1/4 sugar, 1 cup flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup buttermilk 1/2 tsp salt...coat a dried ( with papertowel) hot dog..and fry until golden brown
I am going to make that in the next week. Sounds delicious and my kids are going to love them. Nice for luncheon, I think.
oh..and 1 egg
yeesh..forgot the egg..DONT forget the egg
nope, was wondering about that already. Thank you!
lady, there are more past tenses than I initially thought. Maybe that will help you find more words?
just lightly coat the hot dog..it puffs up...if u put too much batter on it will be golden brown on outside...and still raw against the hot dog...room temp hot dogs
this is so cool! A new snack that they never had before. They are gonna love you, carlee!
*giggle* I hope they have oliebollen mix in the shop already!
serve with mustard....but some prefer ketchup
ACKKKKKKKKKK.i just saw how many re's there are
well..if we have it in canada....surely....
and lady: superlative ending works... even a comparative!
carlee: they don't sell it here the year through, because it is really only used in november/december. But perhaps they are already in.
ah...see the dutch here serve at thanksgiving now too...( my town has HUGE dutch population)
I like that :)
lindebonn, pypstra, sybenga just off top of my head that i can think of before my morning coffee..too warm in bed..and i have a cat lying on my back side as i am laying on stomach propped up with pillows
hi ladies, my dad made oliebollen when I was a kid. what a nice memory!
lindeboom, pijpstra, sybenga... yes those are dutch/frisk names.
hi chic, how nice!
only 8 or 9 real re- (again) words.
fireflies. Quite the grid!

It's been a problem for months, with or without mouse use,
mm..thinking scrabbs...
I have been reading numerous answers on the web + there are SO many possible causes + solutions.
ok got it scrqabbs...
start/my computer/change a setting/printer:hardware/mouse..all settings can be adjusted from there scrabbs
But the problem is more than the mouse--it occurred during the summer before I started using a mouse. I want to adjust the touchpad sensitivity.
Crosshair, I will come for breakfast at your house anytime. That sounds wonderful.
crossy....have u ever watched the cbc series republic of doyle?
any time molly
i should not be sitting here. i should not!

Hi Molly + FB
what's another name for the touchpad?
look it up online on cbc..u can watch online...i watched this week..really good
i do not own a lappy scrabbs,so do not know touchpad settings sorry:(
it's nice out here. but i have mountains of laundry awaiting me, and the kids are at mom's house for an hour!
only been 1 season... and the scenery in it really good..set in nfld
So relax here, FB
scrabs, you use windows?
Yes, and the problem began in the summer. As a procrastinator I am finally ready to solve this.
go into the control panel. switch to classic view, and click on mouse. if you don't have a mouse plugged in, it should be set for your touchpad as default....(more)
under pointer options is the speed control. look around in there, play with the settings, hopefully that will work.
here scrabby,this may help... http://www.ehow.com/laptop-touchpad/
I am now reading something on eHow.
but feathers sounds like she is right on it :)
I will unplug mouse.
snap
And I need breakfast--getting weak + hypoglycemic.

halo!
hi george
oops, gotta chance my icon to a pic of my kitchen, most ideal room in my ideal home? well that's my home and the kitchen's where I spend most of my time--love food (a bit too much) lol!
ah yes, i see there is the possibility for some "rere" words today
surprisingly ...not many leslie
...yet
haha, well seven 8s, so maybe...
Well I'm back. Hello again, ruru, hi George! Hi leslieann, Aloy, Cross. I've got 48 words left. Will have to look at list. Stuck on those blasted re words. Only have about 8.
there, all sorted ruru!
As for the 8 letter words, I've found 3.
i have one - de8, to promote avoidance, past tense
I am workintg on the re 's right now.
I have that one, and two ar9 words, Leslie
halo, hydra! wonder what brought ya back? ha!
lies!
Yes, I wonder, George! Was just about to start work on my boring accounts again.
are you on messy, hydra?
oh yeah, well I saved ya from that, eh?
I meant ar8, Leslie. Can't type today! Yes you did, George! Thank you.
;)
are you on the messenger, hydra?
Which one, George?
msn, just signing in
You have to remember I'm old and can't do two things at once! I'm already drinking tea, eating crisps and Babbling!
glad I cancelled Leeds tonight, not feeling up to s***!
well that is three things
yeah, so what's your point?? I'm bloody old as well and I'm doing more than that all at once!
That was supposed to be a joke!
well yeah, so's what I said!?
hydra your cat is beautiful
He says thank you, Leslie. His name is Flad and he's 13. He was a stray and my boyfriend took him in.
13! he still looks like a young guy. :)
I know, George. I had a little chuckle.
aww, yeah, lovely moggy--and purple whiskers?? he's trendy and all, ha!
The photo was taken a couple of years ago but he still looks just as glossy. Wish my hair would shine like that!
well if you licked it for a few hours a day it probably would.
LOL :-)
Then she keep throwing up fur balls on the carpet
yeah, well, priorities
Yes, his whiskers do look purple. He's a punk pusscat. Oh Deeha!!!!
My hair used to be long enough to lick. Not any more though.
OOh! Just found the 9 letter re word.
do share
Ahhh back from the Diabetes Walk. What a great day!!
What ylou do when you run out of something and need some more.
Well done, Good Enough!
yes it is beautiful GE!
ooh found another 8. re8 - to mate again
Bit chilly this morning but nice once you get moving
oohhh, just found re8 separated flour again
hello, all :-)
hi unea
hydra claims there are some ar8 words but i don't see them
I don't see any 8 words yet, then I've been off making a cuppa for the past several mins!
ar8 picked up and charged with a crime
Ooh. I haven't got that one yet, Une
thank you!
ooh, ta Une, just got all those flour words! xx
ar words are to do with being in trouble with the law.
and believe it or not, ar8 the one who gets charged with the crime
ah, 2 - the person and what is done to them
stupid word
ha, ha! hydra, there's a couple fi words a certain m8 would see right away!!
indeed, george LOL!
former chancellor and all that!?
Yes, tee-hee!
well lookee here 5/7 eight-letter words
oh yeah, the ar words should be a snap for me then!
and they were of course, ta!
Sorry folks, have to do things in kitchen. Back in a bit, I hope...
bye hydra nice chatting with you
hurry back, hydra!
back again to tackle a few more!
hi George
halo, flosey! how's you?
hello everyone - back for the 50 I didn't find last night :)
good thanks George, and you? well, my response seems to have been lost in cyberspace!
Hi Flosey :)
hello nan
what response? glad to hear it and not bad, ta, just knackered after Budapest--cancelled out on Leeds tonight to stay home and rest!!
good for you George, smart to know when to stop and rest up
smart? yeah, when your about to fall on your face from exhaustion's a good indicator, ha!
lol, indeed!
*!* ta da *!* - some strange words, but monkeyable with the list :)
anyone want clues before I leave?
I guess I'm either here alone, or everyone is buried in the grid -- back at the flip :)
eh? no, was off doing other things!
hi!
halo, pippingeek!
Hi, George and pippin!
wow, some great words in this grid
hi Jellen and pippin
nice to have one like this my first time back in like 6 months
Hi, flosey!
I was just thinking it had been quite a while, pippin...
How are you? What are you doing now?
does anyone have a clue for re6/33, just before the plural of the colour
i'm in new york, waiting tables
halo, Jellen! just posted a new blog with a clip from Belfast, take a look and listen?
re + sketched?
quitting the cigarettes has made so much difference it's amazing, wish I'd quit a long, long time ago!
Okay, George...
i had been doing pre-move travelling and then was moving and then my computer got stolen my 2nd day here, so not much access to babble
yes, thanks Jellen, thought I'd monkeyed all around that one!
but i just got a netbook, hooray!
oh yeah? won't say what I was doing last time I was in New York! ha!
Oh, that's bad, pippin!
Hooray for your netbook!
oh that's awful, computer being nicked!?
I'm having problems connecting with yahoo, but will take a look at your blog later, George...
oh yeah? the website, pulse?
what problems? can't sign in there??
It's not loading...let me try in IE...
oh that's odd? I use the mozilla broswer, Firefox!
I usually use Chrome...hope it's not my computer acting up again!
oh yeah I don't like Google Chrome so much, have some trouble with it, Firefox is a lot better!
oh yay, i just realized, since my netbook is not a mac, i can use babble expert! yay!
That last br/4 is cheating, I think. It was my last word--how sad is that, having a 4 letter word stumping me!
yeah, macs aren't good for a lot of the word games
happens to me all the time, jan, I see the bigger words and can't see some of the silly little 4 letter ones for looking, you'd think I would though, considering how much of my language consists of 4 letter words, ha, ha!!
lol, George, and they even appear in babble?
Yup, I was monkeying over and over "brod, broe, bror, brot"...gimme a straightforward naughty word anyday!
some do, yeah, those are always the words I see first when they're in the grid, lol!
yeah!!
Now that I think about it, the sh word and its past tense are often in the grid, but I can't recall ever seeing the f word...
not that one, no, but some others like that really awful 'c' word!
think that's a slang word? but even some slang words are accepted
Enable is a capricious and cruel master...
indeed it is
...
The f word has a long history in English usage, and once was considered much less offensive than it is today. At one point in our history, blasphemous words were considered much worse that bodily-taboo words.
hello Alan, have not seen you before, is this your first time in Babble?
interesting, jan
No, i just don't chat lol!
an, well welcome to the chat
Thanks!
You can tell a lot about a society by how it ranks its swear words. (I once wrote something about the linguistic uses of swearing, but it was darned hard to deliver whith a straight face at conferences!
the chat lightens up the frustration of some of these 'unwords'
I bet it would be jan - but your audience would be in stitches
Yeah, all my example sentences were obscene comments on academic conferences, delivered as deadpan as possible.
I've moved on in my research these days. Just as well...
BTW...a surprising number of linguists Babble. Or maybe not so surprising.
and no doubt stumped by some of the strange words found in the dictionary used here!
hi again - and hi to jan, fellow linguist - your research seemes a little more interesting than mine :)
v
fireworks
congrats flosey!
ty pippin, some odd words here
back, called away a while
hello for a minute
hello ruby for a minute!
I wish I could stay, would love to read more of this chat on linguistics, a subject dear to my heart
the dreaded c word is only good used against a superior male in a biz situation. It leaves them speechless, particularly when they are in the wrong
ha, yeah! I've used it on a few males in my time!
I found it very effective!
yeah, last thing they expect!!
but then, again, nasty ruby strikes!
hi all
nasty, are ya!? bet I could outdo ya!
<< queen mother of all b****es when I'm pushed to it!
tomorrow!! {{george}}
halo, jbp!
those linguists and their "saucy" words.. you know the journal Maledicta?
gd nite everybody
yeah, laters ruby! xx
you may be taller, George......
no jbp, can't say as I do??
I'm nearly 6' tall, if that's taller?
I've met women taller than me, ha! especially in the Netherlands!
I once made one of my bosses so angry that he stormed out of his office, out of the building, and quit!
ooh!! wtg, ha!
I'm not quite 5' but used to wear high heels
nasty can be very effective coming from that low
oh yeah?
living in the country has made me more (a little) mellow
Hi Ruby just gor fireworks. Need any clues??
I have to leave, deeha, but HELLO!
yeah, I suppose it can do that, ruby
OK see you soon. I'll go and watch Antiques Roadshow then!! Bye all
I'm in a suburb, large commons opposite me, take walks on the trails in the woods there, lovely!!
sorry distracted by something shiny... Maledicta is the scholarly journa; of "bad words"...articles on etymology, usage, cross-linguistic analysis...
oh yeah? think I've heard every one in existence, growing up and living all my life in London, ha!
My computer is acting up, but I had a meeting to attend. Will catch you all later...
did anyones babble clues dissappear
Not listed yet, Nanachichi, try & refresh the page.
i sis
did
ok close the page and try again
http://r46.me/BabbleClues.html
halo, zoozzoom, not seen you in a bit!?
Hello, George, have been a little busy, hope you are well?
been busy as well, always am, no rest for the weary--or is that wicked, I dunno?
how about both..lol
yeah, not bad ta, just shagged, just got back from Budapest and cancelled out on Leeds tonight, staying home and taking it easy!!
yeah, both apply in my case anyhow, lol!
Bet budapest was fun.
yeah, was lovely there, what little I had time to see of it, ha!
could have done with a week or two there!
instead of two days, ya know??
and busy working, not much time for sightseeing!
everything a rush then.
yeah, story of my life!!
I would say oh well, keeps the roof over my head but even that's not been holding up so well lately, ha!
yes, life can be a struggle most of the time.
howdy again everyone.back for a few more(i hope)
hello, Crossy :-)
allo! allo!
has Lickety posted hi list yet?
i checked earlier, Pav, and it seems to be up.
hey Mazda! how are the Isles?
lol, very wet Pav, hows it your side of the pond?
well, we're abit parched here..but holding out for an early fall..'tis summer from March through Oct...
Love the colors of fall, best time of the year.
Mazda? that's the nickname of a m8 of mine!
I misread Zoom's moniker and thought it was Zoom! Zoom!..as in the MAzda commercials...
oh yeah, I see!
not that I know the adverts, but yeah
A's are done!
I had a dream that there were49,327 words on the grid!
bloody hell, cosdem! that's a nightmare, ha, ha!!
*dream* big or go home!
lol i know..id have been gluedto the grid 24 hours
I don' t think there are that many useful words in the English language...
lol
yeah, or in all of them? ha!
lol Pav, who said the words had to be useful
sorry, just in to change icon for tomorrow
90% of the words on the grid is never useful:)
yeah, cosdem, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, four weeks a month, 12 months a year for the next year or two at least! ha!!
what's the theme for tomorrow?
or is mine good till then?
World Animal Day (sprite)
lol :)
And fireworks for me.
blimey, all right, know a few of them -- do human animals count though? lol!
from flosey's write up...the messiest room in the house!!! I wish my place was so untidy, flosey!
oh, I must have missed a day! oopsies!
oh yeah? that's my bedroom with part of the ceiling fallen out from water damage and being repaired!
lol Pav, seems the office is always cluttered
ah George, what a mess to clean up!
easy!! I'll post a photo of all the damage as it was happening, water water everywhere!
thats prob my bathroom:)
and bits of the ceiling and roof........
yeah, not fun, flosey!
Can you get someone to come in and clean it up for you, George?
go look at the 'living on the ceiling' blog in my page, flosey, posted a video clip I shot of it as it was all going on, what a mess! you'll hear me talking and laughing on it, cos what else could I do??
well yeah, once it's all done
will go look now, George
posted a new blog not long ago, clip from Belfast, you might like that
ar5/16?

Late start but Spring seems to be here at last. Lots of algae in the pond! Hello all
there are several wineries ru
I am becoming more and more fond of Aus from afar...of course there are disgruntled "show me the money" people everywhere bu at least there's a few bodies of water to drown them in...
jeez pav cranky today?
I have one set of neighbors (renters) moving their belongings to another condo on the property via shopping carts, and my next door neighbor who has a clue about being in business telling me everyone lies...
We have water in Florida. salt and fresh and swamp.
Hello...
we just voted out our property managers thurs night and now find out they've been playing board members against each other all along...
hi jell
hi jellen.
Hi miss jellen
Ji jellen
the world in a microcosm
Good grief Pav, too much
hi Jellen
I'd like a bigger world to look smaller in ... and y'all are my free therapy! well almost free, I do have to pay for internet service...sending free cookies - pnut butter , of course via the ions

wtg good!
only thing pushing me is me
don't worry about the position being open, i'm sure that even though they could NEVER find another jmc, you've taught the young ones well and they'll be fine in the interim
oh i am fairly sure they can find someone since so many folks are looking for work
i probably could have picked a better time for mid-life crisis
except there are lots of quakers jobs opening up
oh I just wandered in and GENEVA? WHAT? je, is that Geneva Switz or Geneva NY ?
switz
WOW
i have just applied!!!!
I'd love to attend a Babble meetup in Switz :) hehe

I know, they'd have to dump it, though eprsonally I find that a shame
it was a bit hilarious watching the two of them...
you wouldn't if she accidently kicked some trash into it too

Jellen - you really shouldn't mention hospital chaplains to me, because it sets me off giggling. Why? Because when my aunt and uncle both worked at the same hospital, she as a receptionist and he as male nurse, he (my uncle) had a funny turn and ended up on a trolley in one of his own cubicles. He was out for the count and only came around as my Aunt had just left to get some coffee, passing the chaplain they both knew on the way and mentioning that my uncle had been taken ill. The chaplain hurried to the cubicle to see his workmate and was just hovering over him when my uncle, who is not a Catholic, so should not even have been thinking about The Last Rites, but watches far too many films and as too much imagination, came to and saw a priest standing over him. At that point, he though The End Was NIGH! It was hilarious and no one laughed more than the chaplain did.

Oh yes -- just a bit strung out. Work at library, old friend from Ontario days visiting at ultra-posh hotel, expecting to be entertained -- younger than I am but looks and acts about 95 (shocker) complete with walker and wheel-chair, with also ancient sister and fun 61-yr-old female "tour guide". Must give them a tour of theisland, found that the resataurant they want to go to has no handicapped access any more, yada yada yada...
I'm personally just fine, gaaa
oh, it is hard to play that role, jill -- but I am sure you did a lovely job and they had a grand time.
Not yet, stid -- this is to come...
LOL well... in that case, I shall get my materials packed up for tomorrow. I have oodles of "must do" things and have barely started. oh, well then you will be well prepared.
Have a good day, stid!
You have mail, Jill.
I am videotaping myself during one class to use to evaluate my ability at leading discussions. *shiver* and then being officially observed in another.
I'm sure you will be a gracious host...good to find out about the restaurant in advance...
