worrisome day, flosey!
great icon, flosey -- have hardly been here...
oh dear, sorry about that, thought this was old friend visiting
thanks, your
icon is very good too
yes, flosey, old friend but little in common now -- seems so OLD!!!! But younger than I am -- looks and acts about 95! Out of touch...
oh dear, disappointing
Yes!
It was really her hubby and mine who worked sort of together...
I heard I. was looking for a p
ah, is her hubby still with her?
no -- died several years ago.
Her sister is here with her, and a younger female"tour guide" who seems very nice. They all have pots of $$$
has she been ill? to make her seem so old
Staying at Hastings House, and the Empress in Victoria. Need I say more? I had hoped for an invitation to dinner at HH, but...:-( Went ot greet them, not even offered a drink.
lol, not a word!
oh, how dull
Nice chat, and all. The Tour Guide arrived, vodka in hand, but although there were bottles on the dresser, no offer. Gaaa!
my goodness!
perhaps it was 'help yourself' hahaha
Oh well. Poor woman is dodderin, had a stroke, needs a walker etc. HH dining is wasted on them -- so old they can't face a three-course meal and ave asked for tiny helpings.
No "help yourself" offer either!
she must have difficulty getting around HH with a walker?
everything on a slope
I wanted to take them to the Seaside for dinner tomorrow, so they could enjoy that view, but checked about handicapped accessibility and there isn't any now -- there used to be, but they remodeled stupidly.
ah, too bad, that would have been so nice
such a beautiful view
Yes, and gravel doesn't help the wheelchair. I had suggested they stay at Harbour House but they chose otherwise.
ah well, $$$ can't get you everything - guess HH had more charm, etc
And I tried to call them at about 9 pm this evening to tell them Seaside was a no go, but the front desk closed at 6 pm and I couldn't get through to their room!!! This si supposed to be worth the money? Phooey!
prob. don't open very early either!
Morning all how many words today please

30 to go and I'm off to bed, be back in the morning
goodnight, if anyone is still around
Goodnight, flosey....sleep well.
Night flosey -- I've given up (was chatting with J and Laura etc.)
And farewell to anyone else here ;)
Goodnight all, sleep well.
gd morning everybody
has anybody heard anythiing about the "red alert"?
No. What red alert, ruby?
red alert for travel in Europe, especially France and Germany. And my son and wife were supposed to take a train to Marseille today
Oh, and a good morning to you too, ruby.
and gd morning, ga peach!!!
Oh, dear! Do they know about it, ruby?
I feel like my head is going to explode!
I do know what you are going through....youngest daughter went to Northern Ireland when they were fighting like mad. This isn't meant to sound trite, but try not to get your blood pressure up....easier said than done, I know. We will be praying for them and you as well.
thank you, ms. peach! And then there is the combo of two type-A's, husband and son. Just call me Ruby the doormat!
Oh, dear heart, I am sorry that this happening to you...it is just a bit much. Can you find some "alone time"?
that is just what I'm doing right now. When my son sees me playing babble, one eyebrow hits his hairline!
Oh, you're getting "that" look.....know it well.
ruby - the warning is just to warn people to watch out for anything suspicious. Otherwise 'keep calm and carry on' should be the motto.
are all adult children so critical of their mothers?
How old are your children, ruby?
I agree with you, haz. Has there been much"chatter" in the UK about not coming over to France?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Just one son, 46!
No, not at all. We've been living with terrorist threats for a long time.
they just raised it to red alert yesterday but it's been orange for months
Well, you either make up your mind to go about your normal business with due care or you sit with a blanket over your head.
My daughters are 54 and 44...and I know nothing at all....wonder who brought them up?
"raised by wolves", peach, and we know that wolves are experts on everything
*poof*
It's almost 4:00am here...will have to work more on this later in the day. Night eveyone....sweet dreams
Sleep well, gapeach.
hi and nbt
Good morning and idc.
k
morning all. Oh! First word a 7 and a wonderful one!
HI
hi lady :)
How is you sprite
sleepy, lol. Got up with the children as usual, then fell asleep on the couch and slept in! Very luxurious feeling. How are you?
Good I vacuumed and then shockingly ironed a shirt
woot, wtg lady!
THe shirt was wet so It was a rough iron to get the creases out so they don't set. There will be another iron when it is dried. I think the cats have thought I ahve cracked
*grin*
So what you doing?
babbling!
I was eating.
Can'tg believe this is the second day no heater and I am going away to a place that is half this temp over night :(
aw hun that is cold. Take a blanket with you.
Taking a minus 5 sleeping bag
very smart. Being cold is miserable.
It is but I scored a very warm sleeping bag
apparently I have study to do opps
lol good luck
I totally forgot. One of my classmates when hey do you realise that and I did the whole huh
hehehe well good you got a reminder
I have class tommorrow
I have class tommorrow
off to work then, hun
I will in 20
:)
Hello everyone.
hi lyn :) xxx
Hi Lynxx
Lynxx isn't this weather great
It is beautiful - except for the massive amounts of algae it causes in my pond. Neither I nor the fish like it!!!
Can';t think of anything to fix that
I have the door open the bedroom window open and one cranky cat as I vacuumed and banished him from the bedroom. No cat in there whilst window is open he can't be trusted
'fraid it is down to chemicals - the fish aren't eating enough yet and the waterlilies haven't grown enough yet to block out the sunlight
can't you block the sunlight in another way?
mmmm aside from a huge beach umbrella which I don't have I can't think of anything. If I lie something over the pond, the fish and the plants won't grow/survive. Its a bit of a Catch 22 bot only for a month or so
was thinking of some bamboo poles and a piece of canvas
rac e
so sorry, I hit the space bar in between
I'll see what diff the chemicals make over the next week (another 2 doses), if it is not working I might cover up half the pond as you suggest TY
My friends pond had a metal cage on it and that worked
hello again
wb rubyfoo
Hi Ruby
hi Ruby. Ruby - what does you husband do for algae in the pond in Spring?
he uses a fine net and gets alga out that way and it makes good fertilizer for the flower beds
Good morning to all Babblers close and far away
morning bichon
Hi Bichon
hi Bichon
TY Ruby, I am doing that too
we had a cat drama this AM. With Ruby right next to the bird feeding station where a field mouse famioy lives, a ver large grey cat came over the fence, sat there twitching, watching a mouse, and pounced, quickly carrying the mouse over the fendce. Ruby didn't bat an eye!
Very cute
O poor mouse :(
serene dog
Bad Ruby as a guard dog
also, Ruby escaped once this morning, into the field above us. It is her favorite game and she would always come bac, but we worry that she could get run over
she only cares about guarding her mom (moi) and the house
ruby is your dog's name?
how is everybody?
My neighbours dog tries to play with our cats and they ignore them
John and Denise were supposed to leave for the South this AM by train, but are staying here because of the "red alert". It would be bad to be stranded if train service got suspended
What Red Alert?
yes, she is M-Pao's Veyrier Ruby Hunter and Max is Mi-Paol's Verier Black Maximus. Dogs are much fancier that their parents (us)
What is a Red Alert?
there is a terrorist red alert for France and Germany
I am sure they will be fine Ruby, just need to avoid large congregations of people - no hanging around train stations!
Yes, I saw that. How long will it go on?
eh I missed that
Berlin and Paris seem to be the focus, but any attack could lead to a disruption of train service. Also, they arrested somebody in Naples and they were thinking of going into Italy.
sod one of my friends got to work on an Aus movie and he didn't get credit for it
we don't have any idea, but it would certainly keep me out of big cities and off trains
was he acting in the movie or working in the production of it?
I'm glad I live in the sticks. We only have home invasions to worry about
that's how I feel, Bichon, nobody is going to attack Veyrier!
Music stuff
did he at least get paid for what he did?
we live near Amsterdam and Schiphol, so we are in the action radius if the netherlands are attacked.
He does
Even though we live far enough from Boston and NYC, left is still enough troubling local crime to worry about.
they are safe with you, ruby, best they stay until the red alert is over.
Would that we could all, and i mean ALL just live and let live in Peace.
they were going to Marseille today but since at least half its population is from North Africa, it is an unlikely target. And the housekeeper said the south is full of old people and is off-season anyway. They were just afraid of being stranded with no rail r=service
there are no really safe spots left on earth, I think. Best we can do is create as much balance as we can.
morning DC
balance and a fence and hedge around the house and garden!
indeed sprite
howdy, lyn
husband's attitude is that he can only control his tiny kingdom
hello dcseain
and a guard dog like 16 & 1/2 y.o. Biscuit the Bichon
bonjour, seain!
i've been up for 22 hrs, including 13h travel time home from California
you're a better man than I, gunga din!
bonjour, ruby :) ça va?
Hi Scien
good grief - you drove for 13 hours!?
i ought be tireder but sleep aludes me
no, flew
rubyfoo, if we all did that and 'controlled' it in peace, there'd be world peace.
Lynxx my besty drove from Queensland to my house from 4am to midnight when he walked in my door
9.5 h in air from California to Washington, DC
plus time for check-in, security, and a hurried transfer of planes in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
hi, herin
dc, the flight from CA to DC is only 5 hours
ruby, i lived in Spain while ETA was active in the mid-80s. One learns to live with it, and accept that such risk is a price of a free society.
Morning everyone.
ha, bichon! i should be so lucky.
that's verylong, seain, I thought it was only about 5 hrs, coast-to-coast.
oh, yes, right air time, i forgot about the time difference :">
hi Sally
Hello sally! have they changed the babble format since last night?
hi, sally
What do you mean ruby?
hi Sally :)
as each airport was in a different time zone, i got confuzzled
It once took me 23 hours to go from Geneva to Austin and that was "real" time, plane rides plus time for making changes. Torture
all of a sudden, since yesterday, people's names are in bold and words that I time in the chat get underlines like they're mispelled.
how odd, ruby
that is a setting, rubyfoo. Probably from your browser. Ask john to fix it!
Oh! Not here ruby. Has your son changed something?
type, not time* in the chat
proably, they've been on the computer whenever I'm not!
People's names are in bold, now I come to think of it, but they always have been.
let them put it back before they leave
Sounds as if they have turned on an automatic spell checker.
yes they are, but not really notably so
sounds like John may have fixed something Ruby. I think that is how Babble is supposed to work...it does for me anyway
"let", sprite? "make"!!
LOL Sally
BBS
*brings out whip*
Rawhide!
cus lyn
How is everyone? Beautiful sunny morning here, birds gorging themselves on seed feeder on my window.
Right I better get stuff done
chilly and rainy here, and officially i'm asleep.
the slightly bold names are ok, the underscores are definitely not
Also, allowing myself to get a little excited because we are planning our next visit to Venice!
and when I'm playing babble, I get a very highly raised eyebrow from John
sounds like you got the lovely weather we had yesterday, Sally. Enjoy it, we certainly did.
how lovely, sally :)
you are getting sleepy.....seain.....
bye lady, good luck with studying
The underscores might avoid some mistypes!
yes, I get that all thetime
it has been beautiful here, too, but the "foehn" came through this AM and now it's cloudy and weirdly warm
ruby, how did husband's birthday go?
Sally that sounds wonderful
it underlines simple words (like underline). The birthday was good, greatley enhanced by yours and Sprite's greeting to husband.
he loved his fossils and the fossil book
ruby, how is your husband. Has he recovered
did they arrive in time, the fossils?
Oh good! Think my birthday greeting might have been a bit late, couldn't remember the date.
now I have to go mix pre-lunch drinks for everybody (DIL doesn't drink, though), so will see you later.
bye ruby.
Yes, fortunately, everyting was here on time and he was truly delighted
did everybody see Sprite's collage? It was terrific!
that is good, all preparations having worked out fine and a good birthday arranged.
k, gonna try to sleep now that it's nearly 6 AM
lol yeah it was fun making it
bye dcseain
No, I didn't.
I saved it in my e-mail and will send it to you this afternoon, sally. It was brilliant!
i bid all yall a great day :) {poof}
Oh please do ruby. Send it to the private one you have, not the hushmail, if you can remember.
*poof, too*
I think I have the right one but you can yell at me, if I'm wrong!
60 words, so far, my usual brilliant performance lol
n
I just put it on Flickr
Oh that's brilliant sprite. You left out the fish pond!
You are very clever, and it was kind too.
lol yes, on purpose. Too little room.
it was fun making it and I think rubyfoo's husband could use a bit of kindness/attention after the terror of the dog.
{{hugs}} sprite.
:) Am uploading two others I made
always good for a smile
looking
rofl. Saw Scrabbler's one at the time but had forgotten it, but hadn't seen Haz's.
Haz's was first, but I like both, grin.
Scrabs and Haz have this fun thing going, where Scrabs emphasizes her claim on Clooney and Haz just knows there is no competition.
Yes, that I know.
:D
oh boy, sirens. First monday of the month... sigh.
sprite, what does that mean
the bomb sirens are tested every first monday of the month here. It means we get about a full minute of ever higher pitched sirens, then a bit of silence, and then the 'safe' siren that is one single note for a while. Always rattles my cage pretty badly.
Oh gosh, yes it would mine too. Why do you have bomb sirens?
to make sure they still work... I think it is overdoing it. If ever they ring the sirens for real, I bet first thing I will think is: "Oh, first monday of the month... is it? Gosh I got my dates muddled."
we used to have those here, but I haven't heard that in years
morning all, we only have some sort of storm sirens....not sure why because if it is a hurricane we usually get lots of advance warning.
lol, yes, sprite. A bit like burglar alarms. A neighbour has just fitted one, and when it goes off, we think, "oh their burglar alarm is going off again". We don't do anything about it!
I'd be very happy if they would quit testing here as well. Or do it on dec 31, just before the fireworks. Am already rattled then, so no problem ;)
How does Terra react to the sirens?
lol Sally, exactly! Like with car alarms. Same thing.
We always say that if we have burglars they will leave a ten pound note on the table as they leave, because we don't have anything of use to a burglar!
not at all. Terra is probably one of the most relaxed dogs ever. The breeder and we have socialised him to almost everything and he couldn't care less about noise.
ROFLOL! Good one.
fireflies! Nice puzzle grid today.
Congrats sprite. Finding it a bit slow myself, but probably because I'm chatting at the same time.
was slow for me too, he5 the puzzle part in my comment. Had to really search to complete several tiles.
Ah, ty for the he5!
Yes, I could only see one word originally from the L, then suddenly I saw them all.
*grin* I know the feeling!
my first word was the horse man... I was smiling from the start.
That was a lovely find, wasn't it. I loved finding bedstead in (I think) yesterday's.
oh yes me too!
good luck with the rest and *hugs*! See you all soon, have a good day/night/whatever.
Sprite, would you mind giving me just the stats for my last K? (No hints). I have ke 4, 6, 4; ki 4; ko4. What am I missing?
Too late :-( Waves at sprite's back.
ky4
Oh thanks zooz. Sorry for delayed reply, had just knocked over bowl of cat biscuits :-(
Hadn't thought of that combination.
Back. Hello Zooz
find that well-known UK ice cream, zooz! Just one ********! Can't say it because another word inside.
morning/afternoon Babblers!
empty chat... oh la la.
Oh hi red! Was afk for a moment
its ok, I noted it had been about an hour since any entry, I dont take it personally, maybe I should but I find it is better for my ego not to.
Bye red, *waves red into pb*
:-)
LOL! immediate. Sets about making coffee.
and tea
hi all
Hi carlee, sorry was trying to find last V word.

It is very chilling today, grey, grey grey

hi all
hi boo
hi Boo
hi all
took an hour to get through it
hi jmc
morning, jmc!
i have about 3 minutes to play and chat according to my schedule
:-)
( now i am trying to find out which cbc radio program is covering suicide today
are you ready to save the human race, jmc?
tight schedule jmc
corn maze never interested me -- what was the appeal?
no i am trying to refi my house and the appraiser has fixed so i have to repair the walls in the dinning rooma and hall :-(
they had a number of check points in the maze with questions that leads to a scamble word at the end
so i have to squeeze that in be for the human race!
this years maze was dinosaurs..they had rubbings for the kids to do too
its like being in a fun house with twists and turns
the walls before the race, of course
o there you go never liked fun house either
i never liked fun houses
but the maze is fun
well i can save the human race if they come and boot me out of me house!
i am just not fun! ;-)
:)
I can't I mean
whew yike was not found in the dictionary
ok..found my program on suicide on cbc....since i am talking to my girls tomorrow nite BRIEFLY to see if they want people to come in and talk to them
ttfn *poof*

back*
hi Ruby
its grey and quite chilly here Boo
hi ruby
we have the "foehn" a hot north wind, really weird
with today's "red alert" son and wife are staying at least another day, rather than taking the train south
all the different winds here have names
red alert?
grey here but some blue in sky. The thermometer says 47 outside
terrorism alert, highest level, for France and Germany
it is about 82F here
Oh my god, I am out of the world loop..has something happened, ruby?
best word, so far, is re7/40 where the priest lives
nothing has happened but there is evidently some pretty specific intell
low 50's in new york, chilly, grey
the US is playing it down but the British are saying "don't go to France"
stay safe, ruby, you and yours
our village is tiny and remote but they were planning on going to Marseille today, then to Nice and Monaco. Not!
thank you, Annie
are there any cr clues
hello boo
hi ruby
ruby, there is always another day...I was not in babbleland for a few days so Happy Birthday to your hubby....

((((Mom)))) good morning

{{mom}}
(((Annie))) good morning. How was your daughter's run?
hi ((Mom))
well I was but I was lurking
you're welcome Boo, and good morning to you
((Nono)) good morning
((Ruby)) good afternoon. Did Hubby like his fossils? I am so glad your son was able to come
Mom, She did it! She did her personal best..she ran the 1/2 marathon in 1h50m20secs. The fastest she ever ran the marathon. She was quite happy.
he loved the fossils and is madly studying the fossil guide book
congratulations to her. That is great
Annie, where did she run?
was it the Wine Glass marathon?
I will tell her. thanks.
congrats to your daughter, annie, that is lovely to run a "personal best", much more important than winning....
Nono, she ran in Fairfield, CT
ahhh ok
the Wine Glass was yesterday here it attacted a very large field of runners
nono, Liz said there were about 500 runners up in CT
oh Ruby, that is wonderful
not sure of the numbers here but going to check brb
ruby, was your son's visit a surprise?
NBT! Finally.
he was planning it, sort of, but since they travel standby, it is never sure until the day before. He just gets a range of dates and I keep my fingers crossed
wtg, mom
oh my, there were 1480 runners here!
nbt for me, too, but not even close to half, just barely a third
nono, that is a good crowd
hooray for ruby!
I am not getting better at this, but I still love it, and every new grid is a treat
Oh Annie and Boo, I see your Yankees didn't regain 1st place. Hopefully they do well as a wild card.
it is! It's an event that has been run for the last 15 years or so. They say it is one of the best races to qualify for the Boston Marathon
Here lately, I have been off my mark for Babble. Maybe I spend too much time doing it.
the yankees are playing the twins wednesday. keeping my fingers crossed but the way they are pitching we need more than fingers
mets fan slinking away with head down and face covered
the weather was really perfect for it yesterday
eyes, toes, arms, feet
Ruby, your son has to be happy though

Mom, is your son televising the game?
DIL and I just walked around the neighborhood, trying to get some witness statements re the dog affair for the lawyer
sadly Annie, he is not
he is hoping to get to work some games when they are home. But if it is during the week he won't be able to because of classes.
Mom, *sad face* sorry. will he be able to do so next year?
Mom, I hope he does.
he sure wants to, Annie. I am hoping so
I hope he does too.
he really enjoys it and the pay is an added bonus
the experience he had this year will help him next year.

Heading off, bye for now.
I didn't get the re7/28 if anyone has a clue
come back in
hi
howdy kje:))
not the easiest grid we have had lately
phantom eureka
re 7/28: go in again
LOL - the ca7 - never knew that
Hi kids. On lunch break here. How is everyone's Monday going?
sleepy, scrab - had to take a zyrtec last night and now I am hung over... damn fall allergies
Use Patanase or Astelin--work quickly!
The ca7 that rhymes with AAA, AA, C, 9 volt, etc
I have avoided th nasal preps b/c I don't like the feeling of squirting stuff in... but now I think I must change - I no longer tolerate the SE of antihistamines
the ca7 is funny - I found it and thought, that sounds like somewhere to raise felines... then looked it up and it was. What a funny word
Afternoon babblers!
But I always prefer topical/local med over systemic.
Hi Red. How is day shift going?
hi red - still morning here!
I am enjoying it, not so sure my body knows what up, have been really tired.
which do you like, scrab? I don't have a lot of experience with them
But I am now on a Medrol dose pack, so I shall commence craziness for 6 days!
They all work well and within 15 min the nasal congestion decreases. The major drawback = yucky postnasal + throat taste. One way to prevent it is to bend over when spraying so as to shoot less in pharynx.
For what, red?
there is no ra7 to supply fun for the ca7
I have "predislocation syndrome" to one of my toes and possibly a Mortons neuroma. I am hopign to feel better soon...
And yes, kje I tried for the Ra7 too!!!
OK, scrab, will try them. My problem is not so much congestion as it is rhinorrhea, itching, sneezing
kje, that is not fun, sudafed makes you sleepy?
Can you run, Red?
no, zyrtec... middle sedating antihistamine, but works faster than claritin, but now makes me too sleepy.... and to think I use to take 2-3/day of zyrtec and work in the hospital with no prob
rattery
I am allowed to run.
no rattery.
Oops, sorry, but not a word anyway.
I take a half a zyrtec before bed, it helps...
apparently no one wants to raise rats, scrab
I was following the ca7 theme, hahaha.
but it is fairly sedaitng.
age I guess... more sensitive now
we all tried it Scrabbs!
plus, with that study showing the link between antihistamine use for sleep and dementia, I am hesitant to use it now even for allergies unless I must
(I never se it to sleep... don't believe in sleeping meds)
What about melatonin? It works for me.
Oh no! I have on occasion used benadryl, for sleep and also to get uncongested. guess I shall be demented.
I don't need anything - i sleep fine
good morning, everyone :)
shall be?
I am currently in possion of faculties.
error there I am not in fish. possession.
hahahaha
Hello Cybernan!
I have sleep onset issues + freq awakening--all due to anxiety. My brain doesn't relax and I am always reviewing my day, my life, etc.

Doing very well, thanks. We've been blessed this week (even though it's still a Monday, LOL!).
No hurries, you have the rest of the week to accomplish "things"...
Great! Actually, I do have people depending on me to get stuff done today and tomorrow...
nbt!
Ah, that's alright then. as long as the tasks aren't "I have to dust... I have to vacuum... I have to do windows..." helping someone else out is an acceptable accomplishment.
Time for me to go assemble and pack some boxes...we're moving stuff to the store building for an upcoming auction...
Happy hunting all...I'll be back when I feel I've earned a break!
try to make it fun!

Hello, Seain. :)
hi, peri, JC
i'm all fuzzy headed after 3 days in California. Silly time zones
wait, no 4 days in CA
I was about to ask how you are, Seain!
Now I know? :P
indeed :)
You flew out to California?
last thursday. got back to here at 00:30
I see - what took you out there?
www.babytattooville.com
took me out there.
lovely hotel
phantom terroir
Hmmm. I still don't know what that's about. Hope it was a nicer hotel than the one I stayed in overnight last night in Jersey. :/ Go to my page and look at the photo I took out of my hotel room window with my iphone, Seain. Bear in mind that hotel's motto is 'An Exceptional Experience'. Yes. It was that, all right.
www.missioninn.com was hotel -- really quite lovely.
Quite an exceptional view, anyway.
it's a private gathering with artists
'Lovely hotel'...Julian was kind enough to text me a picture of the view from his hotel this morning. Not impressed, were you? :P
How could anyone be impressed with THAT?
NB, how wonderful to see you here! :D
And yes - nice of you to suddenly pop up. ;)
oh, thank you Seain! Lovely to see you as well :)
i seem to have wandered by just in time! ::tackles NB::
hiya, Eva
howdy again everyone;) back for a few more;)
hi, crossy
hello, all my favorite babble gents. :)
i'm gonna check mail and heat some food. brb
hello
Hi Eva, Crossy :)
OK, Seain.
Oh dear. I'm no gent, as Julian will tell you ;)
((eva))((ruby)) nb,dc et al
it seemed inappropriate to refer to you as a lass, dearest. ;)
I beg to differ, Jesse - you're quite a gent. ;)
{{crossy}}
what's going on here? feels like bad vibes
bak. mail retrieved and cold sichuan green beans for breakfast
gd night everybody
g'night ruby
cold green for brekkie would give me bad vibes indeed..blech!
bad vibes? I don't feel bad vibes?? huh...
greed beans with spicy sauce carrots and green onion and peanut. ymmy
nor i..my moustache needs a trim maybe... lol
evening everyone
seemed good-natured ribbing to me :)
hi, katie
howdy katie
quite, Seain :P
no bad vibes that i can discern. i just miss NB so terribly -- i have to give him a bit of a hard time for not being around much!
EvaN - when is the wedding?
Hmmm? Just returned from getting a cup of tea. What's this about bad vibes? *Scratches head*.
methinks my green beans promulgated indigestion in others
How terribly strange? All I can see are good natured pleasantries. Oh well? Shrug.
just under 3 weeks now. EEP! so much to do, so little time left to get it done!
How would that happen, Seain? :P
that's good as I couldn't see anything either
BTW (((huggles JC))) havent seen you in quite some time. :)
LOL Seain!
Hello everybody :-)
evening, soodle
how exciting EvaN :-) honestly everything will fall into place
NB, dear, i was quite disappointed that you didnt manage to fly over + surprise me for my hen party this past weekend. ;)
Hi soodle
may it all go smoothly, EvaN
katie, i know it will. im just ready for the planning to be finished so i can just enjoy the day.
Cackling women and well-oiled strippers, I hope?
someone said oiled strippers...
*le sigh* love my friends as i do, it was actually rather dull. :/ no one else was really drinking, and i didnt care to get hammered all alone...
you just have to remember to let everything go on the day and not worry about anything
katie, i think i will manage on that day. its just all the days from now until then that im worried about...hehe
remember not to kill anyone before the big day no matter how much you are provoked!!
surely there is a provision in the law that is understanding of brides-to-be?
bride-to-be is about the same as temporary insanity. it just lasts longer.
Back with tea...
Mmm, sounds like a plan, Julian. Now I wonder if I can get someone to fetch me a cup, so I don't have to get up ;)
hi babblers
cold here in ohio today and rainy
hi, sammys
dear darling fiance decided to call out of work today to run errands. maybe he can have a cuppa waiting for me when i get home. ;)
i hate that winter is on the way.. used to love the cold but as one ages............
hi dc
we here just prayin this Winter be less snowy than the last.
im just praying it isnt totally frigid in 3 weeks. ;)
greetings from a chilly colorado :)
me too dc.. we sem to have the same weather
yup.. you get it there too cos
theres snow on top of pikes peak.. right in front of my window
hi everyone - back for the ones I was stuck on
we still hear the acorns falling they have been for weeks now... and last year we did not have one acorn. glad they are back. have actually gathered several buckets full for the deer for mast this winter
EvaN, may it not be totally frigid. That week ya never know, as you know
hi, cos and nan
never thought i would feed deer in the burbs but they are here and we have to live with them
i know, dc. keeping my fingers crossed. actually, moreso for dry weather. i expect it to be chilly, but im hoping its not rainy!
Well I'm hoping it won't be too cold here, by then. The costume I am donning for halloween does not invite cold winds...
Sorry...back and forth here.
Don't know what I've missed?
rather, it does invite cold winds ;) you'll need a long coat
just weather rants jc
Ah. Will it be more a case of what you won't be wearing, rather than what you will, Jesse? :P
not a lot, we're all being english and discussing the weather ;)
An eskimo might be a better option. ;)
te 5/12?
Ah yes. Hence the umbrella photo, Jesse - and my update of the other day saying 'Rain, rain, go away'.
Just a shame I'm too old to go trick or treating. Depending on who you are and what your stance is, my costume provides both a trick and a treat :P

anyone
anyone like a clue before I leave?
I just started, annie...thx tho ;)
ce 7/32 annie
How am I ever going to be ready for the next moving session? Do you have a clue for that? :-)
jellen, I am out of the loop...what moving session? are you selling your house?
moving session?
Moving stuff for the auction out of storage into the store building...
I'd help if I were closer!
jellen, can you get someone to help you? I would help you too if I were closer like pini
I'm just trying to pack stuff in boxes and totes, separating my stuff from auction stuff...
jellen, do it in half hour increments..then take a rest..then another half hour...it will get slowly done
Most of my friends have allergies or kid care issues...
and put some LOUD rock and roll music on to help.. it alwasy kelps me to do those chores i hate
as I said..an hour of work then stop ( or a half hour) dance to the music..then back to work..it will get done
* consider doing it to the rhythm of the music? *
* snap * annie ;)
Half hour increments seems the way to go! I'm a wimp (of the out-of-shape sort)...plus, I keep stopping to reminisce...
Memories are wonderful...just half hour, stop for 10 minutes and keep on keeping on...dance to the music!!
All right, you've motivated me! Back downstairs I go!
* going with Jellen in spirit *
Babblers are wonderful...*poof*
oops!
* thinking Jellen stepped on the return key * :)
I think jellen is dancing on the computer
* giggle *

That's awesome!
That's great!
Due to scheduling, neither of us could walk this year...
It was fun and touching. I cried as usual.
The other fun thing was they announced an 80 year old woman as the oldest walker that day. We all started yelling because my dad is 86 and walked the whole thing...
He rocks!
They took him up on stage and introduced him and our team. My dad was soooo proud!

A protestant clergyman, cosdem.
Hello fellow babblers...
I just got that one J.C.!!!!
And the re7,40 that follows is where he lives.
Oooh. Thanks for that one, Julian!
And thus the elusive re 7/40
ahh thanks!
Hello Nancy Boy!
I got it ages ago - think it's more common here, not used so much over there, perhaps?
Hi JillyJill!
You're welcome, cosdem.
Laptop fixed yet? ;)
nope i sent it to the company
it turns on fine but it wont let me type anything on it
Ah. I see...
Greek to me. Mind you, I've always avoided the clergy.... and hello, all, by the way :)
wow, quite the grid :/
hello nancy boy
Hello all, especially those from over the water as we say
Nancy...just so you know....many Babblers have been "looking" for you and asking after you.
Hi NB!! Haven't been on with you for a while. How are you?
I'm named after one. :P A Catholic priest - a Benedictine Monk, actually.
i need the first re6/21?
He knows.
Hmmm... J.C....I thought you were named after....well never mind!
Erm, cosdem - something that's just happened.
Or isn't that the first one?
Hmmm...
That's the first one on the list! Re + a penny
Pardon, car.eeyore?
ahh thanks :)
What do you mean, Car?
About what, NB?
that helped me find the re8 too :)
What's that supposed to mean, car?
About JC's namesake, I mean?
God's son..
7s and 8s done
Ah yes. Of course, my name is Jesus Christ. :P
re 6/21= outdoor ***reation + to4/4 minus the ending vowel
I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. I think I may just have stepped in it.
No. Just didn't know what you were implying?
eeuooo car.ee lol
Oh! Well that flew straight over my head :P never thought of that!
My father was a psychologist who used to get letters from Jesus Christ II on a regular basis. Needless to say, he had delusions of grandeur but I loved the name.
Not implying anything. I am sorry.
You know? Seemed a little strange, saying that - did wonder if that's what you mean, though. ;)
LOL Bugs!
Yes! Was hitching onto the comment you made that you were named after a Benedictine monk!!!!
No problem...
((shutting mouth....focusing on grid))
Ah. Well I was - one my family knew and my mum thought was the nicest man she ever met, besides my father.
speaking of letters.. my dad and I have the same name and i would always get a card from a lady named rhonda... i never knew who she was.. turns out she was my dads mistress lol
my mom was wondering why a lady was sending me naughty cards :P
Oh no! Cosdem!!!!
Oh my god, cosdem!
Yikes!!!
I actually think that is VERY cool, JC!
i was like 10.. and the letters were .. explicit :)
Oh my goodness, Cos!!
it was thrilling for a 10 year old but not for my mom lol
Wow...
And your mum never saw them?
well, nbt and 41, but slowed to a crawl and may have to list
theyre still married.. 35 years today
Oh. She did?!
cosdem that is outrageous!! I never thought it was a good idea for two people in the same house tohave the same name, just for the complication of who opens the mail.
Yeah, Car! I was named after an American outlaw - no happy stories there :P
Yes, quite. And the confusion when someone else calls one of them - and both answer. :P
i agree bugs and i hate my name anyway lol
That can be cool too! I like to hear stories of how people were named...I find it fascinating!
brb
Do you have a middle name you prefer?
You could use that...
Well, my 'real' name is just an old family name. Never liked it! Much prefer my English name...
You could choose your own name now NB. Watch the old movie A Thousand Clowns to see how much fun it can be
my middle name is weird too
its just one letter
How 'weird'? Your first name isn't weird - if the one in your page is what it is?
A name that is one letter?
well, I was in the process of legally changing to my English name, but that got disrupted. Might restart the process, but the people who call me by my Korean name are few and far between anyway..
its just "C"
You may as well, yes.
Does it stand for anything?
How can 'C' be a name?
my grandpa shortened it legally.. it was cordell but he legally change dit to c. so i got the c.
So it isn't an initial anymore?
SEe! I think that is a cool story!
right JC. its just C lol i hate it
Hmmm. It's different - Cordell would be better!
I think that's cool, Cosdem!
Nothing weird about your first name, though - it's quite common here.
lol i wish i had a cute name.. but .. oh well.. its like im the only one of my friends who know a howie...
so they always know its me when someone talks about me lol
my BF, (also from Colorado Springs) middle initial is D but it doesn't stand for anything either. His father just thought he should have a middile initial LOL
A cool pop artist in the 80's had your first name.
lol lady.. well i feel better :)
Isn't that funny, Lady?
howie? the only howie i know is howie mandel.. and i hate when people say "hey howie mandel!" when i tell them my name :)
cause i cant stand him :)
You're the only Howie I've ever met. Mind you, I'm probably the only Youngbae you've ever met ;)
Howard Jones, I'm talking about.
Look him up on YouTube - fabulous music!
My brother was never given a middle name and he felt quite gyped so for a while he inserted an S in there to stand for the first number of his Social Insurance Number - 7
ah my legal name is howie
I think those old mountain folks have lived in the high altitude for too many years LIK
Assuming 'Howie' is a nickname of 'Howard'?
May I please have a clue for re 7/28 and re 6/18 (third from the bottom)?
Oh is it?
yeah i had it legally changed :)
howard makes me feel like im a 70 year old man
Which, your first name?
so i had it changed to howie
No. It shouldn't. Look up Howard Jones. ;)
I like the name Howard...I think it sounds dignified.
lol ok iwill check him out
Yes. Same here...
You know, cos, at least they don't call you "ho"!
Cos...most of the Howard THAT age go by "Bud"...lol
lol true.. or mac
:)
Hmmm. Not here, Jillyjill.
re 7/28 .. go in again
How do 'bud' and 'mac' come from 'Howard'?
Good grief! Ty Agzam2!
they dont. theyre too old to remember their nmes :P
lol .. i know the feeling car
You know those english sheep dogs that are so covered in long hair that they look the same coming and going? I knew one named Howard and it totally spoiled the name for me. Howie is much more fun.
40 left!
Old English Sheedogs. Yes?
Go Cos!
Erm - 'Sheepdogs.'
that's the one JC
My typing's left home again. It flies out the window on a regular basis.
It can be seen sailing over the Romney Marsh. :P
Finally! FIREWORKS!
All the way to London, I hope ;)
the 2nd re5/12?
grats
I think it would be headed towards France. Wonder if they can read it? :P
Hm. I can hear them now. "Quoi?"
Congrats, car. :)
well done Car!
Well, up to a whopping 45, don't think I will finish tonight...dinner time now...bbl
Oh..WooT car.ee!!

its a killer
Well done donna. A clue before you go please?
if u have the 3rd re5/12 ... change the vowel for the 2nd
same as the re 5/12 below it, but change to a different vowel at the end
Congrats, Donna.
I need too many clues to ask for any.
i have the 3rd and 4th re5/12 but ur clues arent doing me any good lol
do you mean the second from the whole list cosdem? it is re + short word for an inmate
as in the re7.40 but without the last two cons
it says i already entered that word
yes .. what donna said :p
thats the 3rd re5/12
i need the 2nd
The clergyman.
sometime you just have to refresh then cosdem and things straighten out
I just clued the second one.
thanks bugs!
I thought was too easy. Sorry cosdem to have you wait so long
have you finished now?
evening! how's the grid?

i just noticed the list is in alpha order.. that'll be helpful now :)
hi featherbee. it seems to be okay so far but I am not far into it yet

Thanks for the hint, Boo
yw
hey all. I am having a no-reason-at-all panic attack. need comfort... *sigh* I taught today, maybe it's delayed response?
it seems like I have been doing this grid all day and not getting anywhere
quite possibly stid!
I just started and not getting anywhere, boo! ((hugs))
many hugs coming your way stidmama. Wish it could be a real one
the last te 5/10?
or just built up stress from the student teaching in general that has finally culminated in a panic attack
oh feather! I had this lovely lesson and it completely didn't work!!!! (Not really a surprise...) too much information, too little time, too much me talking and too little time for questions after. *sigh*
featherbee has the same idea I did
that could be, feather, the built upness is pretty tremendous.
wish it were real too, bugs!!!
it's ok! this is how you learn what is the right amount of material to do. by error.
te + singing the ***n song
(if I pack my bags and don't teach tomorrow I could get real hugs in... ) LOL
go back and salvage next time.
start packing. I will meet you in virtual Victoria!
yes. BUT. If I am so "smart" how come all that theory work and the recursive design process (big idea, assessment, lessons, alignment... assessments, lessons...) are so elusive?
i've totally done that, either way over estimated how long something would take and their interest level, or under estimated, or a mix of both
I will, feather -- salvage. that is.
LOL thanks bugs! *making virtual reservations at the Empress for high tea*
smart does not equate with experienced stid.
exactly. experience is the best teacher.
you have? so what do you do then? stop everything (like I did) and tell the kids to regroup in another direction?
thus, why you student teach before real teaching.
I am SO glad I am student teaching and not plunging straight into the deepest firey pits...
fire-y? see? I can't even spell now!!!!
yep. i've done that lots of times. or i've realized AFTER the lesson even that it bombed, and redesigned the same concept for the next day, to get at it in a different way.
well, that is true bugs -- the lessons I have taught in the past have all been fairly small, and I haven't really had to worry about alignments or assessments.
you want to know the worst of it???
bbl -- phone
This was just the overview of the storytelling unit we are starting!
sure
later bugs. thanks for the hugs.
SO. I managed to bungle even the explanations. Although, to support the "experience" theory the 3rd and 4th classes I taught today were better than the first and second.
well, if it was the overview, and it bombed, try doing a "mini-overview", like 5-10 minutes worth, before starting the first real lesson of the unit
BUT. I am told the lesson I have planned for tomorrow looks pretty good.
well there ya go
I have an art project scheduled for Wednesday. And I can take some time Thursday/Friday to pick up loose ends.
I just worry -- this already feels pretty awful... however shall I survive my first actual "real" teaching year?
or am I looking too far ahead again?
you will. it will suck. you'll survive, and get better.
the first year is always very hard. but then there's the second year to look forward to, when you already have the lessons designed, and can focus more on other details!
lort
so... how to deal with the guilt for ruining things for the kids? Or do they learn something that I am not intending and it's okay?
I don't think so Kaplan...
Oops- I just meant to say that classes can be very forgiving.
it's ok
they are really rooting for you.
so they had one class out of their day that was less than stellar. they'll be ok. you'll salvage it. it'll be ok in the end.
*sniffle* thanks. I am feeling better. Maybe I just needed experienced folks to reassure me that feeling all awful is normal. Crying is helping.
hi folks
and they probably did pick up something from it anyway. you do realize of course that we're all our own worst critics, and that other people think of us far less than we imagine, right?
that's why I am going for middle school, to be sure... I won't be their only teacher! LOL
hey welki, welcome to Stidmama's personal therapy session...
lol
Group therapy is where it's at.
stid ... you're a mom. i reckon you've done worse to your own kids and somehow they managed to survive, probably just to spite you :)
:-D thanks. I really do feel much better.
stid, do you ever meditate? 5-10 minutes of sitting quietly and just focusing on your breathing can do wonders for mental balance.
your brain is very overwhelmed right now. let it relax.
oh thanks for THAT happy thought, welki! rofl... *dropped kids on head - check; forgot to pick up kids - check; canceled bday party and forgot to reschedule - check*
the last tr 5/10?
nm
feather, you are SO wise. this is something I can DO. I did actually take about 15 minutes when I got home and wandered around our woods and yard w/ the dog.
I hate when I have a meltdown.
and I can take a few minutes again once tom gets home.
go cos go!
excellent! walking in nature is also a good meditation.

one of the very experienced teachers at the school I have been placed at asked me to wait to observe her teaching because the class period I could visit makes her cry... so I know it's not just newbies. But the classes I have are actually pretty easy-going, hardworking kids.
It's my ineptness that frustrates. AND I shall re-read my Dweck and remember it's incremental, not innate.
aww, well that's good then! and yes, different classes can make years easier or harder.
caun
they are home! *happy mama look*
Oops there I go again
in 10 years, will they remember that you bombed a few lessons? or will they just remember that they had a student teacher who (pick whatever fun/exciting thing you did with them and fill in the blank)
I tell you, they are really rooting for you, and one day soon it will "click" and you will have them in your hand
Of course, I hope the latter... *smile* as I remember the wonderful young man who taught me in 1976 (won't tell you which grade) and picked a science unit. Very exciting and fun.
of course, to me he seemed VERY old, but he was probably less than half my age now!
stid, i'm not sure i still have your email. can you send it to me on FB? I'm going to see if i can send you something by email tonight.
okay feather, sure. I think I will go now. Have some assignments to prepare for the grad seminar tomorrow.
thanks again, friends. I really appreciate your help and advice.

((((((((((many hugs))))))))))))
*BIG hugs and YAY cos and choclits* *poof*
<--- avoids hugs and squeezing
<--- takes the choclits however...
hi
grumble..crossy hates chasing computer gremlins...
stop chasing
evening, all
I killed it!
killed what
the chog
dearly departed,we are gathered here today to pay our respects to the chog....
lol
hee hee
the sheriff, but she did not kill the deputy
hey, yall :)
howdy dc
...but i swear it was in self defence
:) hi, welki and crossy
.. I knew the chog well.. we had many good times together...it's too bad..
hi everyone ... any clues needed before i return to mt. laundry?
so young for the chog to go.. it's sad..really
* popping in to pay my respects *
it was a good chog
how much time do you get in prison for killing a chog?
20 years with words served?
my middle daughter had a hermit crab when she was a kid .. we had LOTS of animals ... but timmy was "special." when he died, she buried him under a pussy willow and made a tiny headstone: "Here Lies Timmy. He Was A Good Crab"
I'm guessing Judge God will be the one who drops the hammer on that one ...
walls of text, floors of jpeg
how sweet, welki :)
how many points would hammer be?
don't forget a lifetime of probation, ru
she saw the good in everything, everyone :)
I would think that herman would be a good hermit crab name too
There's a kind of hush ... all over the chog tonight
where does she live now welki?
albany
is that near buffalo?
no, ru, it's not
there's an albany about 45 minutes from me
Buffalo's in the West, Albany is centered between PA and QC
oh..
about 250 miles
dc...made it back home safely?
they're about 2.5 hours apart, if i recall my last E-W haul across NY state
...do you think we should whisper in the chog...?
indeed, pini :) even had a seat in the DFW-IAD leg on check-in
got to DFW 2h10m late, but to IAD on time :)
Portland is nicer than Rverside, though it's a nice enough place. The hotel was very nice, and good food was nearby.
mmm timmy the crab with garlic butter...sorry lost myself there for a minute
Currently there are 38 cities worldwide with the name of Albany; 24 are in the USA.
Nice recovery, dc :)
crossy!
There's a tiny one in CA right next to Berkeley
crossy is bad;( hangs head in shame
hehehe
the only other albany i know of is in georgia .. but i meant new york
okay.... breaking down or "giving up" and asking for help... :-) co 6/24 please ??
if I had it, diane, I'd clue it :)
like a part of your eye with a different vowel in 5th place
ty, welki
Hi welki.... fellow Albertan :-)
hi, neighbor!
thx welki
*back to folding* g'night folks
I must be blind... maybe need a transplant of that eye part .
night, welki
night welki
duh.... got it I thought I'd already typed that...
thanks welki !
g'night welki
the last few days my babble expert won't open-- help anyone?
d/l it again, MP
ok brb
(that was only a guess...hope it works)
brb - koda needs to go out :(
question to do that do I go to the original email and just click on that???
clearing your Intenet Explorer browser cache can help w/that too. MP
you can do it from the original email, MP, yes
ok...will try but I'm a little computer challenged but I will try brb
well....it's not working for me...do I somehow deleter the original expert on my desktop???
what happens when you try to launch it?
(sorry for delay, i cleaned the stovetop)
gosh dc you are so smart with these things so nice to try and help me...well I guess launch means when I double click on the link??? I'm going to try right clicking per the email brb
yes, launch means double-clicking to start the program :)
k
hanging head in shame...not good...it looked promising but a box came up and said to save as so I savedit to the desktop and tried again to open by dbl clicking and I waited and waited and nothing....
I hate to say this but everytime my husband gets frustrated on his pc he comes on mine and this stuff happens....I tried to politely tell him but he gets a little huffy about it but the facts are the facts....and this just sets me in orbit...
been there, done that, MP...you're not alone
...did you try clearing your cache?
okay, so i'll ask you to open Internet Explorer
then click Tools>Internet Options>Delete
(deferring to dc for further instruction)
then delete Cookies and delete Files, but leave everything else
going there brb
:)
it's 53 out and the AC is kicking in
ar7?
yikes! does that mean there's something wrong with the A/C?
(it's 55F here)
i don't have it
no worries...will hunt ;)
no, the thermostat is next to closet with dryer and washer, both of which are being used, and the family downstairs lives in an oven
oy! perhaps you should get them each a sweater for xmas? :)
they're from Guatemala originally, so that'd only do so much :)
hmmm
ar7 -- diminuitive frenchish ar*a
tyf for that, pini
danke :)
ok I deleted those but I have to tell you previously when you said delete the cache I did the same thing but also did the History one...am I ok?
so, shall i have ice cream for dinner? i had curried scrambled eggs and veggie sausages for a very late brunch
you are okay, yes
yummo curry!!!!
I had jellied toast...not really hungry for much else...
wipes sweat from brow.....
Hello again, hello...
hiya JC :)
next, please go to the desk top, click on lickety then press ctrl+enter
how's it coming along, MP?
hi, JC :)
I would say not, Seain. :(
ok brb
But hi, yes. :)
And hi, Pini. :)
yes, i know JC, though there is sorbet in there also :)
ok the expert screen opened
getting there, MP!!!
oh, okay then. so, you're good to go?
Sorbet is much better, yes.
sorbet is yummy ;)
au5?
not sure I will double click on the expert folder? like before?
oh, what's in the folder?
I have never seen Babble Expert - wonder how advantageous it is to use?
au + and a latinate king
it says BabbleExpert and the properties say it's and exe. file....
i like expert, but no client for mac
You should try coconut milk ice cream - delicious!
* thinking *
got it ;)
yes, i make coconut milk ice cream :) it's yummy
Comes in many different flavours.
rice milk is good too
It certainly is, yes. :)
What is Babble Expert?
You make it? How?
that sounds yummy, too, JC
Laura! :)
i'm not as fond of soy-based
Seain just said he makes coconut-milk ice cream!
Yes.
Babble Expert (for PCs/not MAC) is a screen that put the grid and licket's list together ;)
Babble Expert is a tool from LicketySplitAUS that combines Babble and lickety's list
^5 dc! :)
Ah thanks. :)
Oh yes, Pini? That could be handy.
coconut milk, sugar, flavoring, liquid nitrogen -- voilà coconut milk ice cream
are you on PC, JC?
dc I dbl clicked but nothing happened...
Yes. I do have a Mac also, but use it only for my writing, which I keep separate from everything else.
you can request Expert from link @ Lickety's Babble Clues
dbl clicked on what, MP?
I have a separate computer for my genealogy...
on the babbleExpert file that popped up
A lot of things online aren't compatible with Macs. Certain word games and puzzles, etc.
the babbleexpert.exe is it, or something similar?
Ah. I have that on the Mac also, Pini.
yes
if you control-tab, what happens? do you see it?
I can't afford to lose 30 years worth of research...almost 60,000 names :)
sometimes programs start minimized or off-screen
JC/IM
indeed not, pini!
Wow!
OK?
I am on MSN.
OK
we will find your Expert, MP :)
DC!!!!! See I said you are a genious...there it is......thank-you , thank-you.....what a relief...now if I can just finish the grid...I will have to burn my keyboard up.....throws confetti and candy to dc!!!!
well done, MP!!!
Goodness!
I think she's a little excited, JC! What do you think? hehe
BACK AT LAST.... had to go shopping for a few last minute party things for the do tomorrow night..... our 53 anniversary, and even though i said no fuss.. i know my kids
I owe it all to dc...he is such a nice person he has helped me and others b-4...everything nice you do in life will come back to you!
Wonderful, MP, glad it was there
hi, sammys
hi dc
brb
and your are very welcome, MP :) this chog keeps my Windows skills sharp
Yes. I definitely received that impression, Pini. ;)
Seain is a lovely person, agreed. :)
And yes, MPittore - agree with what you said.
dc...I could use someone like you at the office...a good number of people there are not 'puter savy either...and a good portion of them choose to stay that way, dependent on others to do it for them :(
evening!
hiya weed ;)
hi pini! still slumming it with the mobile homes condos, eh? ;)
ROFL...yeah, haven't upgraded yet ;)
hi, feather
hmpf. hi seain. *sulks*
i don't brook that from many, pini :) i teach'em and expect most of them to live up to what i know they can do
sorry for the bingo, feather :)
lol, but it was such a nice word for babblers! ah well, i'll get over it!
i'ts early n the game, you'll yet get revenge :)
I figured if I could get one of my professors to actually come into the computer age just 3 years ago, that the students would be up on it...but alas that is not the case :(
yeah, well, see, i HAVE to get revenge, with a game title like that! you're just not going according to my plan!
LOTS of firetrucks coming through tonight
you work at a Uni, pini?
Did you see the photo I posted this morning, Seain - which I took with my iphone looking out the window of my 'room with a view' in the Jersey hotel? :P
errrmm, the one with all the pipes JC?
no, i have not, JC
don't see it on yahoo, and i cannot access your flickr
I do, dc ;)
i just saw it on yahoo seain. although yesterday, JC was "A YAHOO USER" for quite a while.
i saw that, pini :)
saw what?
oh, you were saying that you do work at a university :">
oh, yeah...that'd be me ;)
Well I do use Yahoo!, such as it is...
hi all!
Given how well it works, I feel more like abusing it. :P
i worked at two Unis, years ago. Loved the environment at both
is it all sorted out now?
And yes, featherbee, that would be the photo.
hi m9!
See for yourself? ;)
Hello, m9...
hi, m9
wow...news is on...2 teenage girls were killed in a car accident; head on by a cop that was traveling 126 mph, talking to his gf on his cell phone, and texting on his car's computer, while weaving in and out of traffic...and trying to claim workers' comp as a result!! UGH!!!
lol, yeah, good point.
wow, someone should lose his job
that's just tragic pini
that's an understatement, dc :(
Oh my god!!! :(
Lose his job? He should go to prison!
among other things!
i'm amazed he survived -- was he drunk or high too?
and of course, HE would survive... where ws this pini??
Well yes, quite. I'm sure those would be taken care of in prison though.
I believe they said Illinois...about 3 years ago, but, if I heard it right, he's filed a worker's comp claim only recently?
story is here, and yes in Illinois: http://tinyurl.com/2wtqje4
There is no way he should be entitled to it!
agreed
that is criminal!
agreed
Hello all...
hi jellen!
hi jellen... get 'er all dun?

I am trying to learn it.. so my son gave me an "assignment" today. I learned a lot doing it: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid= 1697085&l=4164f4bbb8&id=1062296810

i miss the aquas frescas i was drinking over the weekend.

seain, they may be the same, but my brain kept seeing the N in the vicinity of the TRO and wanting you to mean NITRO

Hi, Jac
and watch out for tumbleweed.
Hi Jellen. How are you doing today? (In life, not the grid.)
I am okay...
driftiiiiiiiin with the tumblin tumble weed
Jellen, (((xx)). And in the grid?
55 left...not going quickly!
Oh, ruru - and watch out when entering bars where it goes all quiet after you've slammed the saloon doors open.
Jellen - I can clue, if you need any.
Thanks! I need to stop snacking and focus...
hhi all
Hi, jmc...
en 6/18 please ?
Jellen - that depends on whether you are snacking on brain food or junk food. LOL
add an vowel to the en5 before it
diane - en5 (to go in through a door) + vowel at the end.
thanks shirl and Jac :-)
I think kettle corn is junk food...
What the heck is kettle corn? Cringing already.
but it is junk food with some nutricional merit
diane - y/w.
hm. potato chips would be nice.
*thinking of what the nutritional merit might be*
Sweetened popcorn
it is sooo yummy!
Oh, popcorn is nice, especially toffee popcorn. Salted popcorn is horrible.
buttered popcorn is okay, but not as nice as toffee popcorn.
wondering how many people just wandered off to make some popcorn...
I read kettle corn and imagined some kind of corndog nightmare type snack.
popcorn needs salt, IMHO, not so fond of the sweetened aka Kettle Corn. Toffeed or carameled is nice though
tr8?
three hundred in italian
thx, dcs
Shirlockc - tr8 = tr* US penny + a vowel.
that is soo not helpful DC
yvw, shirl
hi, jmc
mmmmm kettle corn!
you know enough spanish to get to the italian, jmc :)
hi dc
i have been invisible all day
ke6?
jmc - you have? That must have been fun! What mischief did you get up to?
ke + and a mixed-up under-20 person
in the chog i mean jac
i kept coming in and no one would say hello
ke66 is a poisonous gas. Sounds a bit like a horse transquilliser.
thx again dcs
jmc - Oh!:-(
i was too busy at work to bitch about it though
i wish i had been invisible in a fun way though
hi - I'm italian and don't know what that is!
ty hoot! that's what I am talking about!
jac just clued it, too
the tr8?
and I def don't know about horse tranquilzers! How obscure can you get!
10:29: Shirlockc - tr8 = tr* US penny + a vowel.
jc - yes, being invisible might not be fun if you could eavesdrop on what friends and family are really saying about you, but could be fun for getting your own back or just having a bit of a laugh at other peoples' expense.
ty jac i didnot see that! i guess i have no room to talk
just got the midnight joker...
i actually inherited a diary that talked about me
it was odd
got the tr!
HI JMC!! *waving madly*
sure don't want to hurt noooOOooone...
hi good! *waves back*
Mind you, an easy way to get other people used to be to stand stock still in the middle of the street and stare upwards and point. In no time at all, lots of other people would have stopped and looked up, too. Not so sure it would work these days with people avoiding eye contact, heads down texting, talking on their 'phones etc.
jmc - what did the diary tell you?
i think people will look up and keep moving
jmc - if they do that, they'll trip over!
it was not entirely uncomplimentary but was sort squirmmaking
bet someone would be on the phone telling friends about the idiots staring up...ad loudly! What did all these people do before they had cell phones???
jmc - want to share any of it??
hoot - I wonder that, too.
oh don't really remeber the details -- long ago -- client and fellow attorney who wrote about how i had screwed up a case but was not really a bad attorney just needed to learn to focus more
And they'll say anything! Don't they realise people can hear them!
he was about 50 years older than I
jmc - did he advise you how not to screw up a case in the future?
i'm sure you focus just fine. Oh look! something shiny!
well no because it was his journal
lol good
SQUIRRELS!
hoot - phone sex on the train/tram/bus/plane, in the hospital, on the street is all too common now.
jmc - I meant, after you'd read his journal, did you remember any instance of him advising you.
he did from time to time. he was a great guy. went to jail rather than fight in WWII
spent vietnam getting guys out of jail that refused to fight
A Conscientious Objector, white feather man, then?
i was sitting with him when he heard his son had committed suicide
yup - I watch them at checkouts talking while they unload. The cashier could ring up one item 3x and they;d never known cause it's more important to talk than to watch.
and later when he died
At least he was true to his principles.
jmc - his son, that must have been awful.
you must have cared for him jmc
his name was Oliver Stone --ev5/20one thought I had the director as a client! lol
i did ca** for him but he was a crazy old coot
LOL, same name but different man, I guess, jmc.
crazy old coots are often the most lovable.
VE** different
I agree Jac
the cat has been SO needy today.
he was an archetype New Englander who went to Harvard
Well you would agree, hoot, since we are both of that genre. LOL
of course, i've been gone 7 of last ten days, and friday i leave for 4 more.
i want to be an archetype
that would explain it dc
dcs - Your cat's been needy this time but he'll hate you next time (for a while).
don't we all, jmc :)
upside, me being gone, she's warmed up to Tom. We'll both be away this coming weekend though
Just to explain my take on crazy old coots, my favourite film of all time is 'On Golden Pond'.
you mean old coots Jac?
hoot - no, I mean crazy old coots. You can't get over 50 without going a little crazy.
oooh haven't seen that in a while
henry fonda was a softee compared to this guy
But what's life with no crazieness in it?
hear, hear, jac!
BBBOOOOORRRRRIIIIINNNNNG
jmc - the film or henry Fonda?
never saw the movie and well over 50...but living with and loving a guy who is 15 years younger - crazy enough?
The sound of the loons on the ponds just added to Katherine Hepburn's wobbly talking.
henry fonda (you ev** hear jane fonda talk about him?)
i actually spent part of a summer on the lake they filmed that on
Hoot - you should watch that film. I'm sure you'd like it. Yes, a little crazier than me, since my guy is only 12 years younger than I am.
halfway. going to bed. night all
jmc - what was that like?
'Night Goodenough.
ooh - that makes me feel better!
G'night, Good Enough
the play was wonderful too -- saw it back in the 80s with Frances Sternhagen in the lead
dc - can't you get a cat sitter for the weekend? that should help
yes, I've heard Jane talk about her father, and the film kinda reflected their relationship in real life, but ended better.
it was very beutiful -- somewhat secluded since you had to be either really rich and from an old rich family or be a good friend of someone who met that condition
it was my M-I-L and her old Bostonian connections that got us there
jmc - so how did you get to stay there?
Ah!
sort of your fantasy cabin on an island rustic in a high end sort of a way -- when the rich want to pretend -- with electricity and several boats to take to you the club and lots of books
we ate lobster and shrimp
I have to concentrate on grid - still need 4 words!!!
swam off our private dock
hoot - it might do the cat good to go into a ca7/40. Might mak her stop and think she could be nicer to the guys she lives with.
eh, she'll live, Hoot :) my schedule has been erratic her whole life thus far, yet she still comes to me happily
go hoot go!
jmc - electricity and lots of books sounds good.
I'll race you hoot.
it was lovely except for my MIL and FIL
jmc - Oh dear! What did they do to spoil it foryou?
"tact" does not exist in the puzzle heee!
No, it doesn't, not this time, dcs.
oh my FIL was very controlling and my MIL was -- well think of Katherine Hepburn in -- what was the one with the cougar? something about Baby?
and cross her with the wife in Dinner at 8
jmc _ I get your drift.
Bringing up Baby
Bringing up Baby...love that film!
1...
go m9 go
fw
i liked my MIL now that she no longer has to kowtow to my FIL

Jac the image you just put in my head should be censored

Never be unprepared! I remember seeing US film footage of a woman being rescued from a fire.. she slid down the slide naked, overweight and with her legs wide apart. It was not a pretty sight.

I remember a writer friend of mine who was in his late 70s at the time (he's now 90), bringing a bottle of Jamaican rum back from a cruise he and his wife had been on. Most writers are hardened drinkers, but, when he took the cork out of the bottle and we all sniffed it, we got drunk of the fumes alone. We left him to drink it.

dson't know why hoot's being told she is taking her net name too seriously, since I have been off talking to other half, who is just getting up for work.
one who ve 4's
there are 2 - one is satisfaction of a sexual desire -
because she kept saying: whooooo me?
I think it's cause she keeps sayin', "who" :)
My net name was given to me by a member of the old Friends Reunited site, given my real name and the fact that I am a night owl.
second is one who ve4/7s
mmmmm satisfying a sexual desire
Whoops!
OK...I'm lost now...
jmc - don't linger too long on that thought. LOL

which clue goes with the ve6/33?
Porn not allowed, this is a family site. *sniggers*
ve 6/33 = ve 5/20 with a consonant stuck after the first two letters...

Ok = this whole owl thing started way back in the cb days when I wasn't "allowed" to use the base set until hrm was finished and in bed.
