oh de4, dee. what has happened?
crappy day... nothing went as planned... distressing news about our pastor's health... has been taking scads of emails to get some real estate straightened out...stressed about prep for holidays...yada, yada, yada

love it Christine... I'm going to have to share that with a few friends!
actually, we thought they might be able to put his pancreatic cancer into remission, and CTCA did their best.... it just didn't work...

Ronnie & Dee Ann ... and thank you very much... true jili... and they have given him 9 mos longer than was expected
ty Christine
I'll pray too Dee.
I hope he doesn't suffer, dee.
thanks all, I know they will appreciate it... please pray especially for his pain control... exactly, jili!
This is a sad holiday for you and for mt family -- my former husband died on Friday, so I know how this casts a cloud over your lives. Many prayers for Ronnie and Dee Ann
Great things can be done nowadays for pain control
I was actually thankful to hear they have called hospice; they are such a blessing to families
This is a sad holiday for you and for mt family -- my former husband died on Friday, so I know how this casts a cloud over your lives. Many prayers for Ronnie and Dee Ann
Thanks, Chris... exactly.
Oh, so sorry Christine.
That must be really tough Chris

re
good morning!
just read the chog, if Christine isn't still here, pls tell her that prayers are coming from France, too!
Oh, just came back - thanks you Rybyfoo. Although we were divorced, and he was married for almost 40years, at one time he was the most important person in my life ('til I had our daughter)/ Je was a great guy, God bless him.
{{christine}}
Huh - when did you change your name tp Rybyfoo ?
I didn't see that. Is somebody else using a version of my name? uh oh, talk about identity theft!
I think babble needs spell-check.
Morning girls. ((Rubes, or should I call you Rybyfoo?)) Hi Christine.... my condolences on your bereavement.
{{soodle}}
but where did rybyfoo come from, I didn't see it?
How goes your ca4/5 against the dog-owner, Ribyfoo?
I'll know tomorrow, at least for the criminal part, and the first settlement
I mistyped yourname @ 3:30am.
thank you for asking -- nothing like blassing for months about my troubles.....
Thank you Soodlebum.
that was blabbing*
phantom: he**ess
Rubyfoo, may I ask a personal question - and feel free to tell me to mind my own business -- what convinced you to retire to France? Do you have family there?
I fell in love with France (and BTW, a Frenchman), when I was here in '64 with my 1st husband and baby.
The love affair with the man lasted 14 years (by mail, mostly), but my feelings for France never changed.
YAour husband is not French?
When B and I decided to get married, then retire, I convinced him that this would be a good place for a fresh start (he had 3 previous wives!!)
no, he's from St. Louis and Miami
so he bought me the house as an engagement present!
Got him away from them bad, bad wimmen?
And whatever happened with the Frenchman, Rubes, (dare I ask....)
I took about a year of looking around until we found the right corner of the country as he only knew Paris before
What a lovely man.
I was getting ready to marry him in '78 when I realized that he was mjust like my 1st husband....and ran away screaming
My daughter went to Paris last year, to see an a]\
he used to be, now we are both getting old and "the thrill" is gone....
as is the money
((((Ruby))))
did she like Paris?
oops -- to see an exhibition of wartime clothes concocted by ordinary women. She loved it so much, she's going back in February.
I'm just glad the house is mine, so that his children can't go after it when he's gone!
unfortunately, we are not close to Paris, but are tucked away in the foothills of the Alps
Ruby - my parents have been married for over 50 years - I always imagined that after that length of time, a companionable existence would be the order of the day. I was wrong! My folks fight tooth and nail..... If it wasn't sad, it would be hilarious.
I love movies set during WW2, mainly because of the clothes!
Christine, did you ever marry again?
I'm just disenchanted with the institution. I would be perfectly happy to be friends; he, unfortunately, lives in a world of illusion
Christine, was the ex who died the father of your daughter?
Nah -- once bitten, y'know. Jack used to say it was because after marriage to him, anything else woyld be a letdown. I think he was kidding.'
they are all such egotists!
Yes, a lovely man, but our marriage wasn't right, I guess. He married again, and it lasted almost 40 years.
my 1st husband remarried many years ago and still speaks ill of me. You'd think he'd let it go after 40 years!
Bluebeard kept trying to get it right and it was with me, at least for a while.
Hmm. I'm thinking 'Build a bridge & get over it', for the first Mr Ruby!
Unfortunately, my son believes his father
he was a jerk then and must still be one! And his wife is a total control-freak, but then-again, so is my son. AAAAh, only sons!
When we decided to divorce, we promised never to bad-mouth to our friends. And never, ever to Vanessa. I've seen that in other divorces.
Ruby - a lot of men have the capacity to rewrite history in their own heads. Then they start believing their fiction.
sadly, much of it is true, but no one was blameless, and I am very honest about it (except with B, who has no idea) hahahah
I;ve always told my daughter life is not a piece of knitting - you can't pull it apart, and redo it.
Thats a great saying, Christine. I must remember that one, for the next argument I have with my daughters!
I was too young and inexperienced when I married at 19 but my parents stood back and let it happen. They waited until I told them I was getting a divorce (almost 9 yrs later) to say "We never liked him!"
there is nothing wrong with parents telling the truth
I think the three of us could solve the world's problems!!!!
One for all and all for one!!!
world peace, the economy, everything!
but I guess our children have to learn for themselfves
Oh heck...Just when the world was about to be put to rights, I have to go and do a bit of work. Lovely chatting to you, girls.....Happy Thanksgiving. Poof
{{soodle}} it is always lovely to see you but I'm sorry I wasn't around when you had your recent "bad day"
Thanks Ruby ((()))). It was a bit of a blip....... but things seem to be back on an even keel. Real Poof....
Have you seen the Thanksgiving quote in my profile?
no, I will look
I hope things get better for you, Soodlebum
that is a riot, christine
I have given up on turkey. What they give away in US supermarkets if you spend $50, costs more than $125 in Switzerland. Not worth spending that kind of money for French people who don't "get" it anyway
Now, husband and I will have a quiet capon with my mother's traditional stuffing and pumpkin pie!
they used to eat swans in England in the 16th century!
Now my daughter is in charge of the entertaining, and I make only the cranberry re6/21
speaking of swans and gulls, I had better make lunch! Do you make it raw with orange and sugar?
it's my fave, but we can't get fresh cranberries very often
and thanks for the word; I tried de**** but it didn't take
I use the recipe on the back of the package. Oranges, a little sugar and the cranberries, through a food mincer and that IS delish !
exactly!
only I use more than a little sugar
I could send you a couple of packages of cranberries - do you think they would make a safe journey?
this year, I only have cranberry jam, but it wil have to do
my friend brought Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix, so I'm in good shape for my giblet, chestnut, walnut stuffing
it's too late, but thank you. Maybe next year! When you come and visit
my son brought cans of Libby's pumpkin, so I can make a pumpkin tart (no crisco here for pie crust)
Well, if you want some for Christmas, drop me a line. My affress is in my profile.
but it will be just the two of us; I'm not up for a big fancy party -- getting too old and don't feel like spending the $$$
**address, of course.
You are so sweet, Christine, thank you (my eyes are filled!)
I alwys choke up at the Thanksgiving toast which I have always had to give in English and then, translated. I am too emotional, I think
I think my daughter and her husband are going to friends 0- I'm invited, but I'd really rather stay home, where I can take a nap if I want to. I can do that at Vanessa's house, but not at a friend's party.
when you have lunch with French people, it takes at least 3 hours, at the end of which I am totally collapsed
I have a friend who returned to Australia, and misses things like liquid smoke, and saran wrap, so I send her care packages, and she sends me Australian candy which I pass on to my neighbour.
my son's wife is a vegetarian, so I don't think their Thanksgiving is much - he refuses to cook his turkeys my way, instead barbeques them (so Texas!)
it is funny, the products we miss. I just sent some canned chestnuts to my son.
I like long meals - especiallky when we all used to smoke, and we'd sit for hours, but now ...
I miss: 1. decent steak, 2. all paper products, 3. correctly labeled food, 4. good pork, 5. SEAFOOD!
My former husband married a vegetarian - killing animals was wrong, but they'd eat Thanksgiving turkey, Easter ham or lamb
my back won't let me sit at the table for that long; if I could eat lying down (like my dogs do), I'd be fine!
Now I have to make lunch for B. This has been a lovely chat, Christine. I look forward to the next one.
I have a lovely restaaurant nearby that leaved the fat on steak while cooking, and for me he leaves it on when delivering it to me. I like fat !!
son's wife has been a strict vegetarian since she was 7 and has always been anemic. It is lucky they decided not to have children.
The fat is the best part!
{{Christine}}
Morning all. Just stumbling in here. Christine, I recently bought a cookbook called "Fat."
French beef and pork are too lean
hi and bye jayk!
God put fat there for a reason TASTE !!I think it's time for me to go - it's almost 2:30am.
Bye Ruby. Later
My kind of food.
Sleep well Rubyfoo.
Jayk, is your quilt a Gees Bend quit?
Yes it is. Good eye!!
*quilt
Some of my online quiltie friends in BC had a chance to see the quilts this summer, at a local quilt shop.
there was a big exhibit here a couple of years ago. Stunning!
Do you quilt?
I used to. Since I moved to Atl from VT there is no room. quilting is a BIG space-occupier
hello everyone! How's the grid today. Tis a biggie, so just checking chances of finishing before I dive in.. :)
I like playing with the fabric, but have no interest in quilting the finihed product. I send my blocks, or top to a friend who's guild makes quilts for retuning servicemen and women.
That was me too. I love putting the pieces together, but not the quilting part
My guild has agreed to make 70 twinsizrd for a youth shelter that's opening next year -- there's only twelve of us left in the guild, and most months only 6 or 8 come to the meeting.
SEVENTY!!!!?
Lilecama - hello, sorry I ignored you.
ah, :) hello Christine. I was beginning to think I was invisible! But I reckon what with the massive grid and you doing the chatting about quilting (at pro level I gather!!) you're already multi tasking! :)
sneaking a peek at the grid. Ohhhh a huge one. Will be back in 3-4 hours to complete.
just skimmed the chog, looking for clues. didn't even reach half this morning but had a wonderful chat with Christine and Soodle
We solved all the world's problems
I used to buy antique quilts or just the tops when I lived in upstate NY. The best top I had, from the 19th C, had all the women's names attached with pins to the various sections.
When one of my dogs died suddenly, I removed the pins and used it as a shroud for burying her in the garden. Haven't been able to look at quilts ever since
aaah, sad November.....see you later
Hi all. I am popping in for a few and I want to get to NBT before I go on to my 'real' work. Can anyone clue the A from the bottom row?
mich, it's the songs ladies sing in the opera
thanks trif!! I have 124 left but NBT.
well done! I have 134 left, but do have nbt. Nbs is a WHOLE 'nother affair....
OK I am over the halfway mark so I am going to try & make mailing labels for daughter's wedding invitation!
(By the way, Yiddle should be a word!!)
gosh, I see everyone's new favorite berry is not an enable word....
What's that berry trif?
acai
Ah, is that the one that's supposed to make you skinny?
and straighten your hair, and prolong your life, and cure cancer, and work as a laxative.....honestly, how did we make it this long?
Hmmm. Maybe it exists in life the way it exists on the grid????
i am sure its equally useful, anyway
Well thanks, you just saved me about $500, lose 50 lbs in two weeks or your money back!
i am fairly certain the stuff about it being a laxative is very true -- i fear that will be the secret to the weight loss....
and just like ay other miracle diet cure, i'm sure you have to change your diet and excercise in order for it to really work
Probably, okay, I'll stick with my big belly, wedding or no wedding. I am off to do mailing labels. BBL
morning all

With he4, and the 2 th 5's, the PB will have steady traffic today.
Hi Mom!
Hello Molly and Mom!
Hi Car.
Hello Mom
morning Molly
oh great it is raining again.
OOOH! And the W's are done!
I got a great email yesterday about the rain and how to take the opportunity to open your senses and interpret it as a cleanser for your body and soul. It was a very nice way to think of the rain!
Yay car.e I've got all the w's m's and h's but am missing one flipping c.
I only have 12 of them....do you have the loving touch?
my body and soul must be thoroughly cleansed then with all the rain we have had over the last 10 days ;)
Car, I'm going to remember that the next time I'm bitching about the rain.
It's the very 1st ca6/21 I am not finding (have gone to Lickety in seperation).
He4 is the link...https://mail.google.com/mail/?h l=en&shva=1#trash/12c5b02ff106ab60
desperation!
CA 6/21 the loving touch is the first one that I have...is there another one?
yup
good afternoon FMitch
to star...to not start
Hiya Mom Ah found it - Roman Emperor
Hail FM!
Thanks FMitch
You will probably enjoy it carlee if you have time.
Go, Carlee, Go! I am having a blast!
I started @ 7:30 and I have 100 left to go.
morning ((Carlee))
I wouldn't go as far as saying I'm having a blast, but it's challenging Carlee.
I am now at the spitting nails stage.
Well, I woke up this morning to find that the cat had thrown up on my crossword puzzle book...so this is all I get today!
oh yuck Car.
Oh gross
eeew what a lovely way to start the day!
I was very sad.
It is either stay he4 and play babble or start my work....gee, what SHOULD I do?
Cover up your keyboard this evening!
stay and play Car.
No worries...the keyboard is not on the floor!

am headed to liquidation world today to get cheap solid pillowcases
Have it saved and printed!
OH my goodness! Liquidation World?!?!?! Sounds like heaven to me!
great id4 carlee
Some of the words in this grid are twisty.
Molly....I saw her name too, but decided I better not start the sing fest again!
Liquidation World conjours up an Aladins cave of possibilities :)
Okay, we'll just hum Car EE
hopefully i wont break the bank on pillow cases
still holding breath in the hope that car.e will clue that 8 (but going slightly blue round the edges).
I was still waiting as well FMitch, figured she was just ignoring me
OH! I am sorry FM! SW 8/65...even more SW 6/39!

peri
did not realize I was in the grid again :)
lol
and in the log too :O
th 8/50 another 8
plural of the 7
We must call her "P" today. : )
are those th words compound?
no Pe**
don't have any th7
you can say a babblers name in the grid, and not have to to the PB, it is an unwritten rule
if you have the th 5/12 take off the last letter + vowel + **e is a highest card in the deck
How are you pe4 and hows Zoe Anne?
Okay, the th 7/8 combo is out there like Pluto.
for the 9 add a vowel between the last 2 letters of the 7 and for the 8 plural the 7
sorry, not the best cluer in babbleland
we are both doing weell, FM and you?
the clues are good but overwhelming me, will go for a walk and then try again
i think..i will try and find an extra pillowcase...and make a sample one for sat night
Mom, really, how in the hell can you clue words like that? They are gibberish.
Doing fine pe4, enjoy your walk.
and for the other 8 add a vowel after the 7
take care peri.....is it sunny there like is here?
I think mom did a great job - I got them!
yes sun is out
I am so glad Trentsnana and hello
the definition is Molasses!
good morning everyone
Ew, molasses. Mornin' TNana.
it is funny, when a recipe calls for that ingredient we always say it has mole asses in it
The only recipe I have that calls for molasses is Anadama bread.
gotta scoot, many errands to run today. ((Hugs)) to all of you
cant make homemade baked beans without molasses - good morning everyone - only got a few minutes before a meeting
ginger bread... ( not cookies...the bread...mind the cookies do too ), baked beans...
which th2/12? I have two of them (common words)
{{{mom}} have a lovely day hun
good morning ((RIver)) have a good day
he and bye ((Mom))
over th***, Kaplan
*hi
I can make baked beans without molasses just fine. I use brown sugar instead.
you as well ((Carlee))
Thanks for the th clues Mom!
I use brown sugar and molasses

only have 3 myself
oh thanks for the topping one! Hi EvaN and scrib.
hi, Fm
morning all! currently filling out paperwork for a new social security card to reflect my married name! :)
just typoed one LOL sounds like the itchy spots
so many things to do that on Eva. If I recall correctly it takes forever to get everything changed over
re + to have spoken again
ty FM
yes. starting with the SScard. then license. then EVERYTHING else...
so much for taking a break :)
but once i have those, i can officially refer to myself by that name and sign things with that name. :)

sure FM
re + small platform for speaking from
oh no forget that
ahhh thank you! remove last letter for a 5
thats 6 :)
oh good it worked, thought I had screwed that one up.
It was close enough for me to get it -- ty! :)
hi Jen
morning :)
Hi Jen :)
Good morning/afternoon all.
Hazarus!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, hello!
LOL
How was RDA, did the seahorses take over?
Tis pouring down he4 now.
hello Haz!
RDA was fine, we managed to stick with the normal ponies, but it's still pretty wet out there.
Hello, Nono, nice to see you.
PHone,,,
and that is Haz straight to the PB or should we let her off?
oh those common words sometimes just can not be avoided in the chog
And back.
You must be forgiving, FM!
hello. It just took me 10 minutes to get connected! I'm going to shoot my computer
hello Ruby
OK Haz I relent :) Hi ruby!
good morning everyone:)
Lots of potential PB words in the grid today. Watch it when Pe4 is around.
we forgive peoples names Molly
hello hello no no
Morning crossy ((()))
{{everybody}}
Hello, crossy, ruby.
hi Crossy!
very bleak weather!
The last 40 words are totally evading me.
No worries, there are plenty of goodies in the PB.
{{crossy}} gets a special hug
ty
crossy is special:)))))))
Crossy, Kim Komando gave Folding@Home a mention in her email tips yesterday
there is the name of a wonderful hotel in connemara in he**, ca**el house
hi gandj
hi nono
and clues for the 8's or 9's?
I have 134 words and none of them!
Hi Julie
di9 - the mark (like an umlaut) put above a vowel to indicate two vowels to be pronounced separately (think noel in French)
ruby, sw8/65 is "more sw5/20"
merci une
ruby one of the 8's builds of the sw5/20
Mom gave some great clues for the th biggies a little while ago.
de rien, ruby :-)
Hello Une!
hey, fmitch!!
I got all the sw's I think, but working on haz's di.....hmmm
as9 - being the plural of as7/36, as plus an auto, running into Julius' worst March day.
hi Une
morning, nono :-)
thanks, haz!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lovely clue (as usual) haz
di9 - First three letters of Anne Frank's work, shortened version of before, finish off with shortened female sibling.
You're welcome.
wtg with the di clue Haz, thanks so much!
No problem, glad it worked.
banging my head on keyboardx, but it's not working
Fingers are better, more accurate.
oh I tried that earlier ruby but it just gave me a headache :)
phew! finally. ty haz
and I knew the word, just couldn't spell it!
Well done!
Haz your morewords commission is going to go through the roof today - think I am going to have to call on all resources :(
see you later, folks
mr. stomper is thirsty
Bye ruby
Bye ruby.
ty all cluers of the long words
ditto to that!!
sometime you must spoon feed crossy lol
'Cluers of the long words' sounds like a special club or something.
you would be a member Haz :)
Haz would be the president of it!
is tia secret society with a special handshake?
I'll 2nd that Nono.
Special handshakes, membership cards, the works.
how come you can have a ti7 but you can't ti6?
is there some crazy ritual to join? membership dues? criteria for initiation?
Hello, EvaN, hurshy.
extraordinarily long titles too
hello :)
hiya. :)
just got off the phone with mother. never a quick call, but at least i called her this time, thus earning myself bonus points. :)
hi hurshy! looking for your ti7
think of the game ti____ winks
but make it a person who
But the ti7 over here means a tiny fish.
and tiddle should be a word,it is used all the time
ty! was trying as a pl instead of the person
oh, i suppose that makes sense then
are there any TW?
I agree Cross. I can the ti7 be a ti7 if he does not tiddle?
oh! found a whole bunch of mi,s;)
*How can*
No tw.
so... all the right T are TH? i can only find four! :(
five, i have five now!
Quite a few of the long words begin with th.
ok, i'll try to go long
clue for di 9/60 please
That has to be one of the worst grids I can remember. Who stole my brain today?
Matches, it was clued at 8.49.
me.. FM.. have it for safe keeping
finished, FM?
hi ruru
lol ruru - take care of it, I might need it back at some point
yes Nono
8.49 no longer shows....can you go back further on this?
I'm seeing if I can supplement mine for this grid
yes click on the little dialoge icon above the chog
good luck ruru, I think I used most of it up and the rest was mush.
Yes, click on the box furthest to the right above the chat log (it says view entire chat log when the cursor hovers over).
congrats FM! I have 9 left
thnx
I 'll give you back some of my brain...but then you will pun and have a really sick sense of humor.
di9 - first three letters of Anne Frank's literary work, three letters for shortened before, finish off with shortened female sibling.
wtg Nono - yu can do it too.
That would be fun to pun
I got it ere long haz... thank you
got everything but the shortened version of before...
I have begun to run off players with my punning now at night.
got it Haz. good clue
** FIREWORKS **
Time to put the kettle on biab.
Oh Congrats Nono!
trentsnana, look at what ruru said 'I got it *** long' (9.12)
Well done, Nono.
got it, thnx
You're welcome.
mm,this grid has stalled for me time to put the kettle on for a cuppa..brb
any DH words?
Not a one.
8s. i needs 8s. STAT!
888888888888
:))
those are crazy eights, crossy!
I just found a th 8
share, man, share!
sw8 - comparatively sw6, like a nice dress noise.
th7 - th plus Mr Clapton with extra vowel before the end. th8, add another vowel to the end, th9 plural, th8, plural of the th7 that started the whole thing.
hmm really hard to clue it hursh
TY haz! thats NBT and NBS for me!!
ty haz
You're welcome, EvaN.
yay, thanks haz!
I have th 9 and di 9 the other is?
ooh! and thats ALL the 8s and 9s. schweet!
hello - just popped in. Fantastic clues, thanks.
You're welcome. When EvaN says STAT, I jump.
lol!
lol
good to know, haz. ::makes note::
ty again haz,for all those th words..have i ever told you that you are my favorite? lol
as9 - as plus an auto running into Julius' worst March day.
And that's a plural for as7/36.
thank you haz
ahhh... listening to my wedding playlist that i created on Grooveshark. we didnt get to hear most of the songs at the wedding (since we were taking photos outside while most of the music was being played) so im enjoying it now. :)
9's are put to bed and tucked in now
You've told me so before, crossy, but then sometimes, when I'm stealth babbling, I see you telling others the same. So, you're lying to them, right?
er...well..what i mean to say is....
that crossy is a smooth-talker, haz. you watch out for him...
*busted*
Let's see how he gets out of this one....
has th 9/66 and th 8/50 been clued yet?
tbh you all are my favorites;))
got all my 8's and 9's, except for those two
trent.. look below
well *i* certainly never tell anyone else that i think they ought to be queen of the world.
Not long ago, trentsnana, 9.21.
No, hurshy, I've noticed that.
... am I ever going to finish this grid.???...
no, I have the 7/36 and 8/50....
crossy dives quickly back into the grid..sploosh!
(peeking in ... just in time for the biggies ... thx for all the 8/9's :] )
need the two below those
(now off to work)
*good timing pini*
* thx ru... have a good day all! *
* poof *
guess I'm not understanding the second part of the clue, will work on it....
th7/36, th plus Mr Clapton with extra vowel before the end, add another vowel at the end for th8/50, make that plural for th9, then plural the original th7/36 for the last in the series.
Take Mr Clapton's first name and put a vowel in before the last consonant.
got it - ty!
You're welcome.
heading off for tennis.. thank you haz for the biggies
You're welcome, ruru - enjoy your match.
here you all go,your daily cute overdose http://www.boingboing.net/2010/11/17/u ltimate-kitten-snug.html
Speaking of photos, my daughter sent me a link to an amazing animal photographer. www.timflach.com
just another 169 to find, but must be off for now. bbl (wave)
Bye, Lile.
Is that kitten surrendering, crossy?
SURRENDER KITTEN!
(skywriting a la wicked witch)
lol hursh
Haz - check yr email for the latest rural event.
Wow Haz, that photographer is amazing. That picture of the elephant's eyelash was amazing.
Aren't they fantastic, Molly?
I have, FM. I'm telling you, it's a heron.
LOL!!! A heron *giggle*
My daughter sent a link because the photographer in question is publishing a book of dog photographs, but I was intrigued to find out more. They're works of art.
They are stuning photos.
Tell the rest what happened, FM and see if they can come up with a culprit.
Oh OK hang on a sec and I will copy the email ......
That's as close to a bat as I ever want to get.
Found the strangest thing this morning when I went out into the garden. I have a couple of metal poles shaped like a shepherds crook that I hang the bird feeders from, one for seeds and the other for suet balls. I put the suet balls out yesterday for the first time this autumn and this morning the pole was leaning over at quite an angle. I thought maybe the wind had made it lean overnight but when I investigated it had been bent over about 20 degrees and the metal container was bent too! I guess a fox must have come into the garden and tried pulling at it to get the contents!!! Can't think what else it would have been.
My money is on a heron. They're not to be trusted, just ask ruby.
Much as I love you Haz I think the heron story just ain't gonna work.
Hi all. FM I would guess badger.
in my neighborhood it could be a bear
I suppose an elephant on the run from a circus would have made a much bigger impact.
I wondered about a badger but I have a high garden wall
No gaps anywhere? Front gate?
But aren't there balancing badgers?
are all the bottom S's SC ?
Why isn't tiddle or tiddles accepted?
No tiny garden and a 5' brick wall with open fence above at the back.
A badger with a step ladder?
Balancing badgers - Haz is losing the plot.
sa7/36 also comes from that bottom s.
wow Gamer - a bear would certainly cause a stir round h4.
let me see... can't get saracen, no N... besides the e not being next to the c...
okay Haz and Sally need attending to, phones for the men in white coats.
sa7 - dress adornment start, consonant sandwiched between two vowels end.
oh, the seafood thingy! thanks!
You're welcome.
(extra thanks since i had none of the dress adornment words)
You got a bargain, in that case.
any medical pros in the chog?
well they all come from the lower S, so it was kinda what i requested.
Well I know the Italian for sticking plaster. Does that count?
*licks pencil and makes a note on hurshys word bill*
I can spell corticosteroid. I reckon that makes me as good as a pro.
but can you give the def?
i watch house and saw every episode of the many many years of ER...
well, i trust you all with my life, then. hehe
Absolutely. A medicine for corticos.
My sister works for the admissions office of a local university and lots of potential students claim to have been inspired by much TV gore.
early on in this grid i saw "heidy" and ever since i have been bopping away ... heidy heidy heidy heidy heidy heidy hi
So long as they aren't inspired by Nurse Jackie :-)
hody hody hody hody hody hody ho
scoodly do scoodly do scoodly do scoodly do
Lets hope that Vi does not enter at this point!
would she join me, or object?
I know.
She would join in
but the poor de4 has no ear.
oh and she's a bad singer, right, i almost forgot!
She would join in, loudly and very tunelessly.
She's been banned from her local karaoke place.
LOL
good grief! ever wonder how they do things at netflix to get you that movie the next day? http://www.uniquescoop.com/2009/08/beh ind-scenes-at-netflix.html
are the P's hard or am i just being thick?
They're not too hard, but there are a few strange ones.
Bit of both to be honest hursh or at least that was how I felt with the darned things.
Think familiarity with holder of high office for one.
Can't tell you how long it took me to spot the curly hairdo.
thank you and thank you
4 hours? Less?
uh oh PB again de4
nothing seems to end with that le4 :(
and don't accuse me of entrapment :)
It was one of my last 40 words
you are right hurh, a waste of 4 letters.
and i only have one with re as a prefix - with three r's to go
brb
7 re words altogether.
then all my remaining r's are RE
Sally has gone to count her badgers, either that or the men in white coats have turned up.
reaim, reaid, rehid, redim... nothing works!
oho, eureka!
Take the colour and build on that for 4 x re
*wonders if fmitch types slowly or needs to be told what eureka means*
name that proper noun! city in india
dehli
Typing slow hursh
*delhi
Hello, Annie!
ding ding ding!
i thought that was prolly it, fm :)
and now am heading off to the kitchen. TTFN.
Hi Haz, lurking today, waiting for a phone call and hello to all of you...couldnt resist "Name that proper noun"
Toodle-oo FM!
Hi and bye Annie.
so, real brits, we wannabes have recently had the opportunity to see the new "sherlock" series - did you watch? did you like? can you believe there were only THREE episodes?
You were quick off the mark, Annie, nice to see you.
Hugs to you , FM aand bye
hellooooo
theres going to be a series smurshy
I did watch and really enjoyed it, hurshy. They were each an hour long - maybe they wanted to judge reaction before they commissioned a longer run.
Hello, Ata
Hello Ata!
a loooonger series this time i hope?!
Ata will know.
if Martin Freeman is still available, anyway
yes, a longer series
well i LOVED them. i think the character is the most like the original of the books of any tv sherlock yet (no offense jeremy brett)
they really were brilliant
I thought they were very cleverly done and very funny in parts as well.
except that the original sherlock did ca4 about people, i think. they have made this one more like the house version of holmes in that respect.
Back from counting badgers. Bye FM! I liked the new Sherlock, hurshy.
hellooo every1
so we are all agreed, then, a very well-done show.
Hello, varumba.
Yes, no argument here.
and how are you, ata, i haven't spoken to you in ages.
hi haz!
fine! busy, happy!
have there been any changes i should know about... moving-wise or anything?
not that I can say on babble!
send me a fb msg or something then!
big puzzle today
I will when I've got it all sorted out :)
ok... will wait with bated breath.
have to leave for a while. bye dear babblers
Hello, ladybug - just a nice size, I think.
bye annie
Bye, Annie.
Silverclaw is washing herself ON MY PAINTING
brat cat
ooh lookit that, i am down to 21 left, that's under 10% so i am now allowed to list!
wtg hurshy
oooh look at that, I'm down to 100% left!
lol, i have just started myslef ata
:P
i wonder where sily gets that impish streak...
good morning, everyone :)
Good morning, cybernan.
too busy fending cat off artwork
what were the really big words from yesterday?
Frostbitten
hi nan!
oooo thats fab!
how is tiddles not in enable
Or was that another day, I can't remember.
i think you are right haz
But ti7 - tiny little fish is there, Ata.
that's even weirder
still haven't got over gunge not being accepted weeks ago
*yawn* i do love holiday season, but it IS slow season at work...
Gunge can't be trademarked, can it?
I'd hope not!
enable doesn't usually shock me, but it did with that
It always annoyed me that when children's TV presenters ran out of ideas, they'd wheel on some gunge.
crossy is not happy..tiddle is so to a word:(
::wonders if "gunge" is a british thing...::
sally, do you really have badgers? They say they have them here, but they also say they have deer. NOT!
could I have a clue for the as 7-9 combo, please?
as9 - being the plural of as7 - as plus an auto running into Julius' worst March day.
de6? unless i'll feel stupid...
ok back
oh them!
ty haz
Gunge is just a mixture of 'stuff' used to throw over people and cause a mess. Modern version of being pelted with stuff at the stocks.
dinner is cooking; studio is warm; all is right in my world
hurray for worms!
de6 - looking like a new version of a type of fuel?
missing that one too, hurshy
hello varumba
{{ata}}
hi ruby!
Or d plus a badly spelled painter's stand up desk thing.
ty!
You're welcome.
ty haz
ty haz wasn't accepted by enable hahah
You're welcome, cybernan.
that means clockwise in scottish
how are you ata?
widdershins is counterclockwise - is that scottish too or what?
Miss Ruby says hello and sends her best to Bella!
Not one of the Scots words I'd use, I must admit.
I'm fine! I get to see Bells on Saturday!
bells??
what do I know, living in the sticks.....
Lowland Scots, apparently, hurshy for widdershins.
Bella!
hahahah
thanks for the info, haz
she's just had a cruciate op
she is such a beautiful chow; I am embarrassed by my dogs' lack of correct grooming
first ca 6, please?
oh, golly, how did it go?
You're welcome. I know people here don't always like the Scots words, I think they're great!
ca6/21 what I do to Ruby
julius or augustus, cnan
Sorry, was afk shutting up hens. Ruby, yes we do have badgers.
ty hurshy
isnt that supposed to be your husband Ruby - lol
do you actually see them, sally?
bbian
hahah, river!!!
iab*
ty hurshy -- keep forgetting that is not considered a proper noun
Yes, sometimes. At one time we used to feed them and could stand and watch them from the front door. One year we had parents and babies (aaah!). Then when husband realised the damage they do, he stopped feeding them!
we had a badger sett where we used to live, used to watch the cubs every year
are badgers carnivores?
well it's a title that is translated into kaiser, czar, etc, so, i mean, it sort of makes sense
Yes they are.
atalante - how did the op go??
so that's what sett means; I thought it was merely a babblet! shows what I don't know
They come through at the same time every night so it is easy to see them.
really well
Babble: teaching people more obscure four-letter words than they need to know!
:)
We have to put food for ground birds in a cage and it is chained, otherwise the badgers turn it over!
how big are they? I only know them from books and TV and have no idea of their actual size
big! and very cross if cornered
we need to know everything, dfm!
They're not tall, but they're solid.
very solid
The males are pretty big, like a small bear or big dog really.
I think my first husband looked like one
The cats ignore them which surprises me.
ooh! thanksgiving dinner in the caf today! YAY!
do you remember jesdraggon from here, haz?
I had no idea
Your first husband? Was it the stripe down the nose?
my concern is being buried by badgers.
I do, Ata.
yes and also his eyes
Enjoy your lunch, EvaN!
I think she trumped the vet stories debate yesterday - she had some guy phoning up and asking how he could remove his dog's microchip because the microchip was transmitting to the CIA and other gloabl agencies in orer to track the man
hanging around til noon, at least. if i eat too early, the second half of my day seems SO LONG... heh
and, to ruin EvaN's lunch, his scent.....
he seriously wanted to take it out at home!
I take it he had a tin-foil helmet on?
is that like a lawyer representing himself?
oh, ata. i used to check all of the email sent to the webmaster here at work, and let me tell you, we got some crazies!!
I think he did .......
we had several people write in who thought that they were being "watched"
I bet eva!
though, my personal favorite was the guy who wrote in saying he saw a speech the CG gave on tv. he talked all about how great the speech was, then he closed off by complimenting the CG's tie and asking where it was bought.
doh!
And was it a nice tie?
ok, coworkers are beckoning me for lunch now, so i guess i will go a little early after all. yes, it was a relatively nice tie. :)
back soon!
You'd have felt worse for the man if it had been a shocker and he liked it.
Bye, EvaN.
I used to work in the aviation industry and we used to get mad letters from people with methods of avoiding crashes, such as attaching parachutes to jumbo jets so if they knew they were going to crash they could release them. The letters had detailed drawings and everything.
I love that, VERY big parachutes!
Is anybody in a clear enough area to watch the Leonids tonight? It is too bright here
oh Haz! Apprentice! Is STuart mad and crazy or mad and delusional and crazy?
Stuart is MAD.
That's right ruby, I remember one of them wrote that he wasn't an engineer but we could pass this on to an engineer to work out the details.
he has scary staring eyes
Does he realise that he's like David Brent only even more annoying?
I love that. It's like jumping at the last moment when the elevator cable breaks.....
lol. You mean that doesn't work?
he's just ......... poor Nick was horrified
I'm sure it does
you just have to have very good timing
I've never seen Nick make a more disgusted face. How those women managed not to do him bodily harm is beyond me.
I would have done! He ranks with the best of the worst
You didn't write one of the letters did you ruby?
bk
and designed this wonderful parachute
last 2: di 9 and sa 7 -- haven't a clue for either
dinner, see you later
Since I think I'm still bound by the official secrets act, I had better make sure the men in black don't turn up at the door now.
Did I ever tell you about my neighbours? At the time when the Mir space station was circling the earth, they were outside looking up to see if they could see it. 'It should be possible,' said the husband, ' because it's night time and they'll have the lights on.'
rofl Haz. Good logic, that.
di9 - mark used to denote two vowels being pronounced separately.
loooooool
di9 - first three letters of Anne Frank's literary work, three letters for shortened, old fashioned before, shortened female sibling ending.
sa7 - follow the dress adornment with a consonant sandwiched between two vowels.
Strangely, when we were in Corsica it was absolutely pitch black, no lights anywhere. We used to sit and watch the stars through binoculars, and one night did see a satellite going across. It was either that or a flying saucer, it went so fast, and we both voted for the satellite.
ty haz
working on that shortened part
You're welcome, cybernan.
how is SPanglettina?
She's fine. She hadn't been in great form earlier in the week with a bit of a digestive upset, but much better now.
The gruel must have been too thick.
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
thin it out!
Well done, cybernan!
poor Spangle. They look so sad with tummy upsets
I'm on my way unless anyone wants a clue first?
congrats to cybernan! Hello, Babblers
congrats nan :D i need too many at the moment....
Husband knew she wasn't well when she didn't stir from her basket when he came in at night. Just drooped and looked woebegone.
hi aloy
Hello, Aloy.
awwwwww!
How many 8+s are there?
8x3, 9x3
3 nines, 3 eights and fourteen sevens.
sorry Spangles had a tummy ache, hate to think of her feeling poorly
bye :)
ugh, haven't found any of the 9s yet :o( have a th8 though
I know - I can't think what caused it, but she's much better.
thank goodness!
could you clue the th8 dfm?
We followed our own advice and withheld food for 24 hours and her appetite gradually returned.
th8 pl. th7, molasses
my mrs looked all uncomfortable and woebegone and just looked sad and did not stir from her basket...i mean couch,a nice back massage and 20 minutes later and she is peppy and has the twinkle back in her eye;0
hi there crossy! lucky mrs to have such a masseuse on hand
hey all! ((aloyisius))
magic hands crossy...thats me;)
how's the grid today?
howdy stidmama
Hello, stidmama.
stid!!!! long time no see! hope you are well, howdy!
((haz))
dfm, what kind of molass? in my head, can be used for various situations... there is the viscuous liquid, or the lazy person....
th7 he4 or ....e + coel... disease (cannot consume gluten)
yes, thanks aloyisius, I am beginning to get my feet back on the ground. EITHER student teaching OR doing grad-level work would have been fine. BOTH at the same time was awful.
whew, groan.. you took on too much!
thanks dfm
heh, it's the edible type. It's on the list of ingredients of... whatever it was... some box I was reading last night at the store...
lmao
will keep thinking about it dfm, tx
hey varumba
th9 - definite article for three, Spanish feminine river for three, first letters of what you put your holiday clothes into for last three.
hi stid! how are you?
it's the way this master's program is structured... to get certification at the end one must do all of it!
Make it singular for th8, remove the final vowel for th7, then make THAT th7 plural for the last th8.
yj
thanks haz :o)
oh wow that gave me my first 9 haz!! ty :D
You're welcome.
thanks haz!
wowzer, lots of words from that base, tyvm
and all my T's!!! tx very much haz
Glad to help!
stid, are you finished with student teaching now?
for the moment. now I have a quarter to do a master's project (survey of the lit to present at a mini conference) and then more student teaching in the spring.
yay typos for as7,9!
ok, sounds like a good thorough program.. the light appears at the end of the tunnel.. and then.. are prospects good for a teaching position in your area? Hope so!
go dfm go!
Hi All!!!
Hello, red!
hi red!
in the district I want to teach, unfortunately they are so in need of certified teachers that they allow people without bachelors to substitute sometimes... there are going to be plenty of openings.
hi red!
How is everyone doing?
silt
oh shoot.
I'm fine, how are you?
good tx and u?
good news, stid!
sneals away to the PB corner.
lol, good start red ;)
go red go!
I just started and have 16 words.
brb.. a muffin is calling me
i think the last 30 are gonna be tough for me
even though i still have 75 to go ;)
awww a muffin...
in fact, i do believe it's time to list....
english or american/
ATALANTE!!!!!!! *faint*
Hi Ata.
lol :) *am painting at same time*
well, nbt for me, but 203 left!
painting? fainting? panting? *looks for critters* (my critter is snoring)
gg red!
I have an appointment with the folks at the college who arrange for accomodations this afternoon -- trying to get large print or audio versions of texts and access to the magnifying machines in the library building.
have never done this before, a little nervous I am asking for too much.
one can only ask!
I am sure they can accomodate you Stid, I think they will find your request fairly easy!
that's what I figure -- worth asking. :-D on the plus side, it's raining, and if it actually snows overnight, maybe I won't have to go to campus tomorrow to do the quarter-end potluck!
it's a remote possibility (snow) but one can hope!
I never like those get togethers.
I am really not a fan of group gatherings... except babble get-togethers. so far, those have been comfortable and fun.
. back.. Ata, hubby made some wonderful nut/bran muffins.. yum
how thoughtful!
mmmmm!
Yes a babbling get together would be a nice time.
Stid, you will make those people happy to do their jobs!
LOL thanks Gail!
I'm going to slip off and head to the kitchen. Bye for now!
bye dear!
bye, Haz.. see you next time!
Toodle-oo!
later Haz!
am the same stid, i much prefer lil groups to big ones - i often feel like i'm not good at socialising in big groups, usually because i don't have fun taking part in shallow conversations (usually about the last episode of a soap on tv or the last celebs gossips)
sys haz! tc
yep. group things drain me... I need time to recharge after every whole-class activity in this master's program as well.
lol, i understand..... at what level are you training to teach?
or for what level should i say
I want to teach middle school (11 - 14) in social studies and language arts but will also be certified to teach all ages and subjects up to the beginning of high school.
When they announce that we are going to break up into small groups and have some fun interactive time, I usually crawl under the table and head for the door at those seminars.
all ages and subjects???? wow.... here we teach our specialism subject
oh yes gail, i hate that too
oh gail! are we twins? *looks in mirror*
you are a special person stid.. middle school!
My long-lost twin!!
nah, just a masochist... *wicked grin* I like the challenge!
*grins at Gail*
I live four houses away from a middle school. It's pretty scary.
you are special stid. I was just talking to a teacher friend of mine...she said "ANything but middle school today!!!
i hope schools in the US are better than here in the UK!
In elementary school (up to grade 8 -- just before high school) many classrooms are "self contained" so one teacher does all except perhaps Physical education or music.
oh ok.... same as here in primary school then
lol.. when I remember how horrid I was at that age, and imagine a room full of similar behavior, I shudder.. and then I remember my wonderful sixth grade teacher.. so important to have a good teacher at that age
Middle schoolers get very attached to teachers they trust and like, I think.
depends in part on the school, I would NEVER take a job at the school I was just student teaching at -- for a LOT of reasons, not least that it cost me $1000 (almost) to make the commute over ten weeks.
omg! talk about expenses!
ooch, ouch, no.. not there!
yeah, i just did a sub job today in a school i hadnt'gone to before: sheer horror....... 8 years old kids throwing abuse at each pther across the room, then getting out of their seat to fight it off.....
and yes, I think it's possible to make connections with the students and bring them along. I think that the pendulum is going to begin to swing the other way fairly soon, taking emphasis off "teaching to the test" as so many schools are doing
oh no varumba! how very sad.
You should try being a substitute teacher! Fresh meat for the lion's den:)
what hurt me the most was the frigthened look of 3 lovely girls in there..... and not being able to really do much to makek them feel safer, other than get closer to them and stroke their hair
i do that on thursdays and fridays cherry, i know exactly what you mean!
LOL cherrypop! yes, Mother tells me to try to avoid that -- but I think subbing for a while to learn which administrators are good to work with and which schools have good morale is going to be important for me.
oh dear -- look at the time. I must be off -- have a $15 coupon at a store I like that has the turtlenecks I like on sale!
the last as5/10 evades me... any 1 has it?
lmao, hurry stid!!!!!
stid, I subbed for seven years while my kids were young.. learned a LOT about the surrounding districts, etc... but .. so exhausting !
oh just monkeyed it!
***hugs and choclits for all*** thanks for letting me "chatter" about it. SO looking forward to finishing this program in June and being ready to actually teach!
as + reverse the first two letter + letter
i bet
go stid go! nice to see you.. (( ))
tc stid, and sys
byeeeeeee
ZOOOM!!!!! ***extra hugs and a happy smile*** see you again soon!

tx sooo vm molly, would have never gotten that on my own
It's a very strange word.
lol, making this too hard on myself.i have set new rules to never list till the past 10% of the total:/
i may never see lickety again;(
last
gl with that!
Y'all need to quit making rules. Finding words in this grid is supposed to be fun.
i am having great fun;)
Good, that's what matters.
i may yet streak the chog:)
I thought you did that twice a day.
naw,was getting too many colds from drafts...
I only play, hoping to catch crossy streaking!
i am elusive
what's streaking?
Ah, Ruby comes clean!
Elusive, yeah. Next thing you're going to tell us is that you're shy. Ahahaha!
varumba is so young!!!!
i am way too modest
Streaking is running through a room or an event with no clothes on.
no ruby, i have just never encountered that word in english before
ah ty molly
streaking wazs a fad in the early 80's (or late 70's), guys running down the street naked except for shoes and hats and/or gloves
lmao, tipically british!!! LOL
it was hilarious, varumba, especially using the "modd enhancers" of the time
mood*
did you ever do it????
Guys loved to streak at my high school...all girls. : D
*grins*
no, I don't think girls did it. But I had a boyfriend who did!
omg!
hello all! im bAAAAaaaaaack!!!
wv eva!
they also used to "moon"
Hi Eva, the subject is streaking. : D
moon i know ;)
wb*
to give it a date, when I was waiting on line to see The Exorcist, somebody mooned the line
no way!
lolol
lived in a small town, obviously! hahah
I hear streaking!
you are too young, NB!
lmao, that would draw in right NB?
nobody gay ever did it!
Well. What can I say, Varumba ;)
much too dangerous
Ahem Ruby, I streaked down a high street once.
i'd just shrug my shoulders and smile innocently ;)
hi all, back for more fun
really? you are very brave
hello nana!!
It was in the dead of night, though. Just a bunch of my friends and classmates there! It was a dare.
yes, i can imagine this would be done as a dare lol
earlier, I think it was a drug-induced fad
ra6/18 any1?
hi ya var - how many you have left?
31 now
finding it hard though!
I'm saying nowt, I got told off by a babbler for talking about drug use here!
no kidding!
hello nana
i still believe this is a free chog
I have 88 left and don't see any more words
my past isn't exactly squeaky-clean ;)
amen, varumba
var..... ra 6/18 alternate spelling of what passes as a sport... LOL rolling around on the "mat"
have you listed ruby?
No one's past is squeaky clean NB.
((((((((((((diane))))))))))))
I've never listed, just crash and burn
huh can i have a clue as to the type of sport?
that is very funny diane
ty
just popped in to say hi.... hubby just finishing clearing lost of snow... oatmeal is ready and waiting!
lol ruby
and i agree with molly too
great clue, diane, thanks!
rolling around on the floor, doing neck locks and such
(((((((((( var ))))))))
hiya, Diane :)
sounds worse than streaking!
ooooh i thought you were ROF!
hi NB :-))
lol
i know what you meah, but i can't think of the word......
I don't mind it at Olympic level though... they are in good shape.
ah no, was thinking of wrestling.... but can't be that
The ra 6 is a redneck-y way of saying the word.
okay ra + double snakes + fr. masc. article
include the derogatory word for your behind....
The Japanese start it with "Sumo"
oh var... it is that !!
I love the way we all approach the cluing differently.... personalities abound !!
and then past tense....
JESSE!! (((huggles)))
just got it..... i just have to tell you that it is the spanish masculin article though ;)
oh no! you're right! it's the french!
ooh thanks diane :o)
loll
it's both then
i tried spanish way and didn't fit, then tried frnech way and it did ;)
Well hello Mrs F! :)
ty vm
Eva, are you a pixie yet?
so, what is the fr. article ?
that's the R's done.... phew!
le
le
you were right diane, it was me who got mixed up in my head ;)
Snap Ruby :D
oooh... I see your correction...
tonight, molly. :)
we encircle the globe, culturally, physically, and certainly, humorously!
i just couldn't picture a word in english in ssle.....
hahah molly
how goes it, DAH-ling?
Snip, snip here, snip, snip there and a couple of la dee dahs!
which of course is weird, as there are quite a few words, lol
195 and still finding words... to list or not?
oh you can go till 90 easily dfm
var, "hassle" comes to mind
im excited, yet nervous at the same time! hope i dont totally hate it. :)
I'm far past 90 :oP at 195
oh yo're talking found words? i always refer to left over words myself ;)
andn yes dfm, that's why i said what i said
time to eat... be back later !
*pokes jesse awake*
I had that typed before you said what you said :oP
sys diane! tc and enjoy
I tried short hair once. It's just not my style. But I'm envious of the low maintenance factor.
uncle! 155 and good night everybody and "No streaking" it's too cold!
stupid chog lag
lol ruby, good night
G'night Ruby. Bob's my uncle. : D
I'm probably missing sw words... have exactly 0! :oO
hahah molly
ive had very short hair before, and i liked it. but ive never had it quite as short as im planning on this time. i used to sport what my brother liked to call my "billy idol" look
Bunches of sw words dfm and many build off the same word. Think of the sound silk fabric makes.
I'm awake! Sorry, I'm trying to decide what to wear tonight ;)
dfm: I have 5 sw words and you know how bad I am....
My husband made his appearance on "Who Wants to be a Millionair" We can't reveal the results, but it will air on 4/14/11
oh yeah i only have 1 sw myself!!
Oooh Eva's getting a haircut?? What cut??
hi and bye bichon. They don't show it here :(
yep, noticing that there might be sw words got me 6 already :oD 200 words down now!
gr8 clue molly
sounds like the neighboring country but change the last letter and go on from there
that gave me 4 sw words.... any more with the same root?
ar 7/40, anyone?
we are getting a pixie cut!
aridity
5 rekated wirdsm var
oops
sorry
I'm in trouble
are 7, dryness
*words,.
ar7*
ah, missing the 8....
typed it in the wrong spot.....
at least you got it, nana
I know, but I don't like to screw up like that
gonna get in trouble!!
with the Babble police
are we now!! that's so cool :) I love pixie cuts on girls. Couldn't pull one off myself though - need my long hair ;)
any clue for the sw8? which one does it build off?
off of the sw5
pixie cut? o.0
all but the last sw build off of the first one
nm, got it... i thought i had typed that combination, but must have mistyped
well, last time i had hair anywhere near that short, i was about 70 pounds thinner. so im hoping it looks ok. chris really loves short hair on girls, so im safe there. :)
th 5/14, anyone?
I think you have the perfect face for a short cut, Eva
It's a haircut for women, dfmch. Typically shorter on the sides/back but with some length on top, you can do really cool things with it!
in winter, you wear some th5al underwears to keep you warm
th5/14 = 1kCal
Nowt to do with weight and all to do with face shape, Eva ;) so I agree with Trent!
i like my lady,s hair, she wears it long to bottom of shoulders with gentle curls
that's right!
i worry that ive got too much weight in the face/neck for it, but ive got an amazing hairdresser, so i know she will do right by me. :)
sa7/36 plz?
that's good
can't help there, var
You can always give it some volume with mousse or gel.
Crossy's lady's hair sounds uncannily like mine.
i gained a lot of weight in my face. my face used to be much longer/thinner. with the weight, its much rounder. either way, im excited!
varuma, japanese food type
tx jaf
I need to get mine cut. It has too much weight at the moment; moving my head around is becoming a physical challenge.
got 16 S left :(
i like all your icon photo,s NB,someone has an artists eye when it comes to the camera!
hmm, I don't have re words either... and re words are so hard to find... >.<
sa 7 is a Japanese dish, usually slices of raw fish.
My hair used to be down to the middle of my back. I keep it just below shoulder length these days, and layered on the top.
first 1 is like the colour, but dble conso
another clue for th 5/14 - didn't understand dfm's
then second 1 is colour + 2 vowels
the following 2 build of that (latin pl + regul pl)
did you see mine nana?
thank you, Crossy :) s'what I get for living with such an artiste as Frank ;) plus, I'm lucky enough to know a few amateur photographers, and a few professional
in the winter, one wears th5al under clothes to keep warm
it is snowing here atm;((
got it - thnx var
weird, no re- as "again"? (have 6 now, thanks var :o) )
yw
half rain half snow wet crap that does no one any good;((
molly, i also used to have hair halfway down my back -- you wouldnt recognize me!
there is 1 df"m: he mentionned again..... re****
XoD That is totally not a word...
lolol
do you have re**** - something to put on your hot dog?
yep, 7 REs now...
mm,nothing like long hair, spread across silk sheets;)
all there then
am still missing 1 sw: sw6/39
I still need re 5/12 and two of the 6/21s....
ooh cool, now to look for another letter that seems lacking -.- (wishing I had pro... again... (again..)^20)
adj to the previous word var
cool down, there, crossy. ;)
tx bichon!
add a consonant to the first sw
nana; colour *** + 2 vowels = re5
yvw var
Oh Lord, Cross is going into silicone orb mode. Did Carlee feed him Misty Jack again?
redii
aha, would have not found it if i had read your clue first nana;l in french Y is a vowel
keep going, you're close ;)
how many sw,s in total please..i have 5
ahhhh
7
sometimes used as a vowel here
7
so got 8 sh words now......
missing one sw now
Y is both a vowel and a consonant in English... can't quite recall whether there are any cases in French where Y is pronounced as a consonant /j/...
all the same word, except for the cheese
nope, always a vowel
hello everybody
hhow is the grid today?
hi jacq!
howdy jacq:)
i find it tough
heya crossy and varumba
first 150 words easy
but the last 90 were harduous for me
i found yesterdays tough
Y is consonant as phoneme /j/, vowel as /i:/, /i/, /I/. Double role in words such as 'yttrium' (=/jI/)
didnt'do yesterday's', so cannto compare
not in french, y is only a vowel!
i guess you were referrign to english dfm ;)
ohhh, hello Jac :)
heya NB ;o)
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!1
phew! am exhausted now!
Throwing streamers and confetti for Varumba.
gg var
racking through my knowledge of French words looking for words beginning with consonantal 'y', can't think of any, so I guess you're right :oP
]
var - could you clue me the ar 6/21?
dfm, i'm french
am right ;)
wtg varumba!!!
lol
wow the French section of my brain is getting dusty and unkept, haven't used it for almost two months now :o/
Dfm, the only thing that comes to mind is the name Yves.
ar6/21 = pl of ppl who fight the war
peri
oops
tx jacq :)
And his sister Yvette.
ok, so i'll add: am french, and i'm a linguist.....
and 'y', and 'yttrium'.
i garantee you y is only a vowel in french
jacques cousteau had a interesting middle name that started with a y as i recall
duh - slap me, var
thnx
where's my petit Robert when I need it? :o(
obviously i am talking about modern french..... *guarantee
yw nana.... i felt the same way when i found it :D
any1 want a clue before i go?
Cousteau's middle name was Yves.
thats it
ok, then i guess it's time to think about dinner.....
bye all, hf and gl with the grid!
*poof* syl in tangle nana :)
i used to live and breathe to catch that show once a week when it used to be on
var, what's the French consonant /j/?
j or g
Don't think there is one...
*repoof*
no, phoneme /j/ sounds like the "y" from "yes" :oP
k
There really aren't that many French words that start with y.
Why can't I have 'delish'? I got told I looked delish earlier :P
lol
NB, I agree. Why is weewee allowed, but not delish. It just doesn't seem right.
you ARE delish, dearest. ;)
yeah, that's why "y" is 10 points in French Scrabble... and that's also why I never seem to be able to *play* it...
Put an `R` instead NB and you got a word.
Right! Neither delish nor pash. And 'the f word' is never in babble so that's like, half my vocabulary gone...
Your new haircut will be very delish, Eva ;)
I usually love 10-point tiles in Scrabble, but the ones in French just scare me :o( (except for X, which isn't *that* hard to use... sometimes...)
oooh, thanks Zooz :) and hello!
i sure hope so!
good evening all! Looks like a very nice grid.
if weewee can be taken, why not tiddle? it is an outrage!
put an `R` on the end, Crossy :-)
It is the ri6 that is Enable.
i have that, but tiddle and tiddles should be allowed
think ill go pee on enable
lol
mayb e even tiddle
Hello, Spritey :-)
CROSSY!
you mean, to weewee on it, crossy?
i mean tiddle
hi zooz, thanks :)
NB! I am LMAO at half your vocabulary being gone.
puppies tiddle,kitties tiddle,babies tiddle,and crossy tiddles
hahaha
bbl
are there really only 3 L words? o.0 monkeying gets me nothing... :o\
first hundred down time for coffee
four le words.
haha, Molly! I live in London, where 'the f word' is the building block of most sentences ;)
le4/4 le 4/4 le5/12 le4/4
I've heard it's that way in parts of Ireland too.
have the le4s... guess it's time to list... >.>'
trying to break my 16 year old of that NB,swearing just for swearings sake,i tell him i can actually see his i.q dropping when he gets in that state
time to unle***
I've never used a swear word in the context of swearing :oD
nice clue, zooz
ac 5?
molly, dont you mean lmFao?? ;)
yw Spritey :-)
thanks zoozz, saved me from listing :o)
lol
30 left, no listing! :oD
Ssssh Eva, I was afraid I would get my knuckles rapped for that.
a+ automobile + letter
ac6 same + letter
ac5 is a mite
erm... a bunch of them, not one.
ty zooz
no fear of that from ME, molly. i have the mouth of a sailor...hehe
yw Bichon :-)
I don't know Crossy, I think it's the perfect word. It's a noun, a verb...it's everything you want it to be!
ok thats me done, any clues before i depart?
so is mon golian cluster fuck, but i do not use it in everyday communication lol
thanks zooz, I am fine *hug*
maybe you SHOULD, crossy.
naw,too many things have to come together for that position to be a viable alternative eva;)))
I just love the fact that you can say 'fuck the fucking fuckers' and it's a legit sentence.
Ok then, take care , All, (((Sprite)))
tc zooz
actually, i have been trying to break dear hubby of that speech. im looking forward to the time that we have little ones, which (frighteningly!) probably isnt TOO far off, and i dont want my kids growing up hearing much of that in the house...
indeed eva
a nice set of triplets to start you off right;))
wow NB, get it all out!!!
sure, knock em out in one shot.
go right from hights out and sunset walks, right to a 4 month old doing drawings on his wall with a poop nugget;)
nights*
lol crossy
he will probably have learned it from his daddy...
LOL Jac!
ewww..
i was a perfect child,adorable,kind,always a smile
just as you are now, crossy. :)
of course
am making lasagne tonight, sauce is coking slowly as we speak
cooking too even
mmmm.... sweet capata pie!
house smells of garlic and herbs, lovely
mmm lasagne....
I'm taking the next flight over jac
Children. I don't know. I like other people's children, and weirdly enough kids seem to like me. Couldn't have my own though. Scary.
big crusty loves of itallian garlic cheese bread to go with it..mmmmm....
as 7?
lol bich, the only isdsue is the white sauce has to be ade with low fat ingredients, i hate it, i miss butter
im sure my kids will love their Uncle Jesse. ;)
as7 roundworm
what?? no butter???..well forget that then...:(((((
we all miss butter jac
crossy is sad now...
::reiterates "sweet capata pie" for crossy::
it just tastes so different, i've lost a load of weight since i started cooking for angie, all low fat, even the milk is low fat :o(
why no butter? :o(
what is capata pie?
he is very health conscious, low fat or no fat, but he says he's eating better and healthier now than ever before
capata = my language for potato...heh
i've never had sweet potatoes, (unless i forget to salt them, but i doubt that's the same)
lol, thought it was some greek pie i had never heard of before
i heart sweet potatoes!
I think low fat is the most boring diet there is. I can do low carb, but not low fat.
i see low colesterol in my future
eva,i can make you sweet tater frittes that would bring a tear to yer eye:)
ooh, i bet you can, sir! feel free, anytime!
i have carbs every day, low fat food, steamed veggies (fresh) every day, lean meat products
I fear my diet would make you all weep.
have you gone raw yet, jesse?
NB, my diet also includes chocolate, sweets, cakes etc but only after 9pm
NB, let me guess. Rice, beans, veggies and fruit.
i use virgin olive oil and slice then thin, bout 1/4 the thickness of a french fry,and use 2 tbs of hot olive oil in a wok, toss in the sweet taters cook till golden and toss with a pinch or 2 of coarse sea salt
it's my own way of making sure i don't lose too much weight
I want to know how they check and make sure all those olives are virgins. : D
LOLOLOLOLOLOL molly
surely part of the checking would mean they are no longer
Don't think I could go raw, hmm. I have too much fun cooking.
if you pluck them and they say ni,yer all set
"Make sure I don't lose too much weight". Oh God, I want to use that phrase in truth sometime.
no
LOL Jac. Oh sure. Olives = sluts
LOL
i expect some amazing, healthy korean food someday when i finally make it back over the pond!
if they are processed with non virgins surely they are all tainted
crossy you're making me hungry, and I just ate :o/
ok,i must be off to work in the wet snow,tc all and happy babbling
Ta Cross
poof!
Molly, i eat about 1000 calories before bedtime or i would weigh about 7 1/2 stone
just tell me what you like, Eva ;)
Jac, I'm on a reeeal big-eating regime at the moment. Currently I weigh 95 pounds. Need to gain about 20 more!
well, most of the korean i am familir with is meat. bul gogi was a family favorite. so i guess i will have to be educated. :)
jacq, do you have some sort of bodily disorder? or do you really just have that good of a metabolism? (im with molly, i would like to be able to say that phrase, just once!)
I do a lot of meat substituting when I cook Korean...it's pretty good because meat tends to be kind of an accessory, rather than a main ingredient. Plus, there's not a whole lot of dairy issues to worry about.
it can be just as hard to gain weight NB, i know this, try those high calorie drinks, one at bedtim, one in bed that will help
it's just my metabolism, the only good thing i got from my dad, my brothers are the same
95 pounds?! oh dear god, NB, i weigh over twice as much as you! ::weeps::
1/2 way done
go ladybug!!
good job ladybug
well, in that case, i WISH i had that problem, jacq!
:o/ I find that the more I eat, the less weight I end up gaining...
Right, Jac. I lost a whole lot recently so I'm just...carbs carbs carbs right now. All the things that I would NEVER have eaten before, I'm suddenly stocking up on!
it's a work in progress Eva, I do NOT wanna be this size for long!
try those drinks, i think it's complan, laoded with vits and minerals too
you must be swimming in your skinny jeans, dearest!
same here, i would love to be a uk12, comfortable with no bones sticking out
I would like to volunteer some weight for Jac and NB. Hey, it's the least I can do for friends.
i dont need to be a size 4 or anything, but i would like to be a size i can regularly find in the stores. i had an emotional breakdown the other week trying to find pants for the winter because i couldnt even find pants i could get into, let alone ones that actually fit properly.
me too, molly! does insurance cover lipo in that case??
i blame the fashion industry, clothes are cut wrong for curves
We will force them to Eva.
my friend is a size 20 and she struggles to find clothes that are comfortable
I agree Jac. The clothing industry is at fault. Their sizing is preposterous.
they are either too tight in places or too short in the legs and sleeves
I have a friend who used to own a bridal salon. She had women breaking down in tears because they thought they were a size six and needed a size 10 dress.
they take the clothes they make for size 0's and simply make them bigger, they forget women have curves, we don't all go straight up and down
i have a tiny waist, but thick thighs and a big-ol-booty. pants are impossible.
Because I am only 5ft4ins I find the bigger sizes are too long in the sleeve. I can alter trousers but not jumpers
hello jenny
Apparently Kate Middleton does. I saw that see through outfit she modeled. That is one curve-less woman. She has great legs though.
molly -- wedding dresses are the worst! their sizing really is totally different! thankfully, i knew that befor i shopped for mine, so i didnt care what size they ordered me...
hi jenny
i found when i was skinnier that size 6's were fine in the waist but too short in the legs and crotch
and sleeves were way too short
oh my god, I have so many issues with finding clothes here. They are all built for big ol' British boys!
Theres a saying round these here parts... 'Better to say "There ya are! than say "Where are ya'. (Obviously used to flatter us 'larger' ladies!
nice saying
Hello NB! Long time no see. How are you doing?
hey Soodle :)
NB have you tried ebay? i get jeans from china for my oldest daughter becayse she is tiny with no curves
Hi Spritey :-)

nov 25 is thanksgiving, Soodle ;)
And thank God because I need a week to get ready.
lol
I've been reading the chog, about the sizes, I have 2 girls and 1 boy. The boy & youngest girl are really thin, the other girl takes after me. My son is like NB very very underweight - makes me mad!!!
hi, Soodle :)
Oh, heck! I thought I was closer to the end of November...... Never mind. I was the first to wish you all a happy holiday :-)
that makes for an expensive month, 5th to 25th must cost a fortune stateside
you sure were, Soodle, lol
25th to 25th
How are you doing, NB?
It's crazy having the two holidays a month apart.
brb chcking sauce
not too shabby, ta :) got a wild evening ahead of me, looking forward to it!!
when my best friend was prego with her first daughter, she came to me when she was 8 months along because she was STILL too tiny for maternity clothes. i gave her the pants i had gotten too fat for. 2 weeks after giving birth, she was back in her own clothes. *le sigh*
wild evening, jesse? do tell!
Woo-hoo! I heartily approve of wild evenings! Yay for NB!!
fireflies. Bye and hugs Soodle and jacq.
wtg sprite
Bye Sprite. Grats on the fireflies ((()))
We're going to heaven tonight ;) (heaven soho, that is...)
well, more like Charing Cross, probably. London, anyway ;)
*le sigh* work time.
Got ur angel wings and halo all polished up, NB?
still sounds funner than making lasagne
Agreed, Jacq!
hell no. I'm going to be on my baddest behaviour :)
wearing a slightly dented tarnished halo?
enjoy your night out, dearest. dont party TOO hard at such a reduced body-weight. :P
eat any fruit in the cocktails, you need the calories
Ooooh. A devil in heaven!!! You go and enjoy yourself, NB.
advice noted ;) and now I'm off to get dressed and primped - later, all!
Have a great night, Jess (((())))
And on a slightly more mundane note, could I get a clue for the se 5/20 please....
bye NB have fun
(((jesse)))
Doh... no matter. Got it

hi all... getting fuzzy.. clue please for se 5/20 ?
WHAT did I just read? 8 months pregnant and still too tiny for maternity clothes? I got in the wrong line when they were handing out metabolism.
se... to have a 'spell'
se 5/20 the front part of the word that describes what epileptics have.
thanks
And the 6 describes one who has one of those things.
I have one word left a t 7 -- I have a th 7 that means a sort of paste and a ti 7 that means more shy--can someone give me a hint at what I'm missing? tia
haven't got to the T's yet - sorry
ti7.36 if it was fi, it would be the guy that plays a jig
thanks anyway
Good clue Lynx.

Or if it was fi it would be the guy on the roof in the musical comedy.

Very impressive jacq :o)
smells of garlic etc, lovely
angie works nights, on a friday he starts at 3pm so we eat really early
I didn't even manage to prepare today's dinner - but then all our stuff is in boxes.
i don't have that issue thankfully, and have loads of time at night alone
Time alone - that would be lovely! I still have a 2 year old running around at the mo - he's telling his daddy to be careful up the ladder.
cute, my youngest grand-daughter is 2 she's so funny and sweet and clever
i usually pack a lunch and then go home to cook at about 8 or 9 pm
I wish someone would cook supper for me

MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm! Lady B come over and have a glass or 2 or 3 with me
kind of a long way to go for a glass of wine, dontcha think?\
oh damn Becca, I was thinking that "cracker dilso" was some new-fangled snackie thing
Sadly not- just an ordinary cracker! Lol
Lady B, just open some wine there in Rhode Iland and drink along wit me
Sling some wine at me, I could do with a glass or 3.
*slinging a big glass of winey poo at Becca*

Think I may have to go to bed - it may be the only way to get my son to sleep tonight. *sigh*
slip him some Tylenol PM
evening all - any one got the di 9 please
Is that like paracetamol? Won't work on him.
hey all it is trying to sno...
Tyleon PM is acetominophin plus antihistamine
Why not becca?
makes you veeeeeeeeeeery sleeeeeeeeeeeeepy
What on earth is aceto.....
i do NOT have the di0
it's an aspirin substitute, becca
Cos nothing works stid!
you don't have Tylenol in gB?
Acetaminophen = paracetamol
Nope.
We have Calpol.
The "pm" means they put in a sedative, too
yes , stid is correct , they are the same thing
ar7?
the sedative is just antihistamine
well then, give your son some Nyquil
Ah probably diphenhydramine
yes stid, that's it
what's nyquil?
Sorry I can't clue, on my cell phone and it doesn't scroll the word list
I don't have it yet cosdem
Rofl monkey! I think they don't have nyquil either
becca, nyquil is a cold medicine (in liquid form) that is 20% alcohol
nyquil is the most disgusting thing ever
Cos, do you need the ar 7 that describes a dry condition?
when is Great Britain going to enter the 20th centry? I'm just sayin............
Or old-fashioned tablespoon of whiskey, tablespoon of honey?
I would rather have a shot of Jack than Nyquil.
trheres only one ar7 so i assume so molly :)
Forget the Nyquil, Congiac or brandy works
Amazing!
hi and good everning
OK Becca, you should give your kid a shot of Jack. OK problem solved.
TY! I needed that one too!
di 9, any clues out there
Becca, that came from a Nurse. It's kosher.
and ty molly :)
Gravol also works wonders and its not addictive
Rofl, too funny! Whiskey for mom, honey for kid
That came from my doctor
who is a nurse
My Canadian husband was jerked out of shape that we Americans don't know nuttin about Gravol.
hell if ur kids are driving u nuts.. give them alcohol they
will sleep for days
I thought you were a nurse Lil. My bad.
Crikey - do all of you drug children regularly or does it just come across that way!?
My own dear offspring of the adolescent type approacheth. Back later.
lol it does seem that way becca
i will drug any child that is making noise, hahahhahahahahahahahhahahaha
Bye stid
we're a pill popping nation
*poof*
I don't have any kids...I just need to drug myself from time to time...too much work stress!
We're joking Becca.
i love my winey poo
i take pills to be happy in the morning and at night i take pills to sleep
lol
I think he's out of sorts because all our stuff is packed in boxes ready to move house.
He'll sleep when we all go to bed. And I can't drug him even if I wanted to because it's all been packed
Including the whisky
i have now got the di 9 - but i couldnt clue it if you paid me
i'm not joking
Otherwise I'd be drinking that for sure!

ron on the other hand looks better with short hair..
agreed on that one...
Well in all fairness lil, Hermione did NOT cut her hair, but the actress who plays her decided to cut her hair after filming ended. She said after 10 years it was time :)
I guess we can't fault the kids for wanting to be seen as grown-ups now that the movies have wrapped. But I agree --- she looked better in long hair.
ok emma then :)
ch121, I just said Hermine because I don't know her real name
Hair that is long can be very heavy and hard to manage.
it's emma watson and i'm such a loser cause i know all of their real names lol
Oh lil, I knew that -- I was just teasing with you :D
i am very excited to see imelda staunton again in the new movie... Umbridge is one of my favorite villains ever.. when i read OOTP... i was so angry at her i threw the book a few times
Umbridge is indeed one of the best villains ever. (Shuddering to remember those pink outfits!)
anyway, emma/hermine looks like cr*p with that ugly boy haircut, i'm just sayin.......
I'll bet she grows it back out after she lives with it for awhile.
i was debating a while ago on whether i should write an unauthorized biography on Dolores Umbridge :)
BBL, i 'm going to pay bills now
Oh! Oh! GREAT idea, cos... and then you can explain her awful childhood and experiences that led her to be the horrible woman she became.
Bye Lil :)
yes exactly
i think i will..
Or maybe she was just born psychopathic...maybe she tortured dogs as a child
or maybe she is in reality... a squib LOL
No doubt she has a secret background involving muggle blood, of which she carries a deep shame
A squib! LOL!
right. and maybe who knows.. she was tom riddle's girlfriend at hogwarts?
Ahhhh... no, bet she was the girl who had a huge crush on him, but was cruelly rejected.
but that wouldnt explain why she is on his side now
maybe he never said no but.. you know.. let her follow him around like a puppy
Oh, but it would... see cos, you have to get inside the twisted mind of some women ;)... let me explain :D
haha okay
oh oh oh NO better thought..
she had a crush on severus snape.. but he rejected her because he was in love with lily potter
which is why she hates harry!
Ooooh, yes -- that would make more sense!
therefore she joined voldemort's ranks
ok the book is starting to look feasible now lol
Still carrying a torch for Severus, but so deep she can't even admit it to herself. She had fantasies after Lily was killed that Severus would wake up and notice her, but alas...
Now you know, Cos, you have to post the chapters for us Babblers to read as you finish them!
i will!
i'll post it in my profile :)
Cos, what a cool idea for a book.
i gotta re-read OOTP and DH now to research her background some more.
Good idea. I'll check back from time to time. Now I'm diving back into the grid *poof*
have fun! :)
It would soften people to the character of Umbridge as did the back story on Snape and Lily.
yes molly exactly
i hated severus for a long time.. til the last two books.
i was so adamant that severus actually killed... you know who... because he was really working for Voldermort
Since I have a mad crush on Alan Rickman, I was happy to see Snape's character fleshed out the way it was.
phew.. C words done.
i have a mad crush on rupert grint :)
i will admit i loved that harry named his son after snape...
im looking forward to the three new HP books Jo said she would most likely write...not sure if its a prequel or a sequel
That really brought the whole Snape/Lily/Harry thing full circle.
i'm hoping for it to be a prequel.. the first war
Well, it would have to be filling in the missing years that she didn't write about, wouldn't it? There would be no Harry in a prequel, the stories started when he was a baby.
hm true
what happens after voldemort.. the trials, the death eaters...
Rowling could do that, it just wouldn't involve Harry. I wonder how that would go over.
hm yeah. it wouldnt make sense to call it "Harry Potter and the....." without Harry
i also want to see more background of Aunt Petunia though.
ok i need a break bbl
bye cos hey all
eeww i just got a load of sws
yep LOTS kazzer!
okay brb phone (Mother)
Bon jour Gran Mere!
maybe if I ask for a clue on the third re6.21, maybe I will "see" it?
It means to repeat something.
Molly, my fourth re6.21 means that..
Actually, the past tense of that.
HI

a nickodelon cartoon characters in the grid to
Any Gran Mere who offers me homemade cake has a special room in my heart.
Stid this guy in his wisdom thought it would be a talented idea to plan and stage the robbery
ah yes! Mother is a fine cake-baker!
yuck. so much for him.
I saw the saddest thing today -- a young man on the street corner holding up a begging sign that read "convicted felon. can't get a job. anything helps."
to be so young and to have screwed up so much that no one wants to hi4 you.
my s/o couldnt find a job anywhere because of his owi
owi?
he finally got a job at a gas station.., he wasnt happy about it but last week he got promoted to 2nd in command in the store so hes going places there
owi/dui/dwi whatever ur state calls it
good for him! so pleased he is making it through.
ah, I see. yes, the penalities are getting more and more severe and public pressure as well.
so am i! he got a nice raise as well
once he pays off the fines and gets his d.l. back he will get his own store
excellent!
its just sad people are not willing to look past a simple mistake like drinking and driving
k-mart wouldnt even hire him because of that.
unfortunately it's not simple. people DIE because of it. and usually not the one who was drinking.
ditto what stid said
yeah its a bad choice of words
i knew that as soon as i hit enter :)
i pretty much ripped him a new one.. i didnt bail him out i let him sit in jail overnight.
I am just glad that he is turning things around. It can be hard to come back from something like that.
the police found him in a ditch with his foot on the gas pedal..
he acted like it was no big deal. i was furious.
good for you. I would have done the same. I did write a couple times a week many years ago to a friend who had a repeat offense and ended up in jail for many months.
oh gee. that's pretty wasted.
i made him sleep on the couch for a few weeks :)
until he admitted he needed help.
still... on... the... gas pedal? o.0
I gotta admit Cosdem as a person who was very nearly killed by a drunk driver, I don't see it as a mistake, it was a choice.
yes!
that said. I am pleased to hear that your SO is in a better place these days!
oh yeah it was a choice at that time yes i agree
but it was a mistake he made..and a choice.. both if that makes sense
which is why i was furious. he knew better.
I've made some choices that turned into mistakes indeed.
What's so great about drinking anyway? o_o
it does make sense. and addictions are insidious things. very hard to stay away
his father owns a bar which did NOT help at all. and is one reason we moved to colorado springs from des moines
dfm, I really do not know, but people do enjoy it.
his mom told me that if he stayed in des moiens he would end up like his dad... and said we should probably move here ... and ill tell ya what.. its been a lot better now
ar 7 anyone
ar7/40 dryness
builds off the ar4 before it ruru
ruru, it builds off the ar4 that means dry climate
glad things are better. stay tough with the love...
thank you lil
thanks for that AR!
hey ruru! **hugs**
yu welcom wuwu
definitely. but now he has a good job where hes pretty much respected in.

I don't know how many ASes there are... have 2?
what u get from burning wood. + rhymes with opposie of he,
erm, 1, not 2.
but change the H to another letter
so I guess I don't have it
have that one..must need the as 6 before it
for both as6 actually
Cos, Ryan is lucky to have someone in his life who cares for him as deeply as you do.
its for both ruru
thank you molly :)
And vise versa, I'm sure.
ooh thanks cos :o)

there is another? this grid has been deceptively difficult for me.
oh Ru, you should see poor teulu, he got an unexpected groom from me...its uneven.
How many words today?
241 godt
Thanks.
it is a hard grid for me too red
im usually done by now..and i still have 91 to go
oooh winkle is in the grid!
I have to admit I did not make it a priority. but I wish I had.
108 here. no list yet though.
you can say peri wihout going to the PB, is is an unoffical rule that if a babblers name is in the grid thre is no penalty
indeed you can.
ah okay! i wasn't sure :)
cvlue for the last pe5/12?
as6 one who sells as5/12 could be called an as6 (or at least I'm saying that to clue this word)
not a bad clue jess!
finally got it thanks.. I just couldn't see it
tx - struggled with that!
pe5 pe + I like to ***d the Harry Potter books.
thank yoU!
yw
oh shoot the pe6 isnt the plural i was hoping it would be
insert another vowel cos
you know what I think is a wee bit odd? My neighbours are starting to put xmas lights and trees up...
red.. its not odd.. a lot of people do that teh week b4 thanksgiving.. my tree is going up tomorrow
thanks again jess
I agree with red, too early dor xmas decorations, Thanksgiving isn't even here yeet. Thanksgiving gets short shrift
I guess I am used to it at least the week of thanksgiving.
yw again :)
gee can't type tonight
thanksgiving and christmas go together
why else is santa claus in the macy parade :)
I love xmas so I dont mind, I just find it different We always got our tree in my family onlike Dec 10...but our tree was live and wouldnt last thanksgiving to New years.
they are two totally differnt holidays
a lot of people see it as two holidays together
thanksgiving is the unofficial kick off of the christmas season
Santas(s) have een in the malls all week
Indeed Peri, a lot of people celebrate Thanksgiving and do not celebrate Christmas.
to a lot of pepole anyway
been even
Not everyone.
Christamas is WAY too commercial
tp me it is...with Black friday which I abhor, but. it is the kick off of Xmas excesses!
I am all for getting bargains but I hate crowds.
its the crowds I cant deal with. I am a cyber monday lady.
are there better buys on line on cy=ber monday than on black friday, red?
ive found both to be a little different yet similar
Not better, but no crowds, and they deliver the stuff to your door...
although... wal-mart and target are doing away with shipping fees for online purchases the entire holiday season
are the deals just as good on mond than on black frdiay on line?
did not know that cos
the deals are better on black friday actually
but just the first couple of hours onblack friday... the rest of the day they're same as cyber monday
The deals are good Peri, btu yes, on Friday if you go to the store they are probably better...
like at wal-mart the first 4 hours 5am-9am u can get a rival crockpot for 1.98
what?
or was it 2.98? lemme check
I bet some folks will be camping out that is a great price
even 2.98
they also have 100 movies for 1.98
they are NOT closing their stores this year they said.. to avoid what happened last year
39 left, bbs
I remember someone was killed last year at a walmart in NY or NJ
exactly. a stampede
clue for the 2nd pr 5/12?
change lst ltr of the push word
never mind gto it
ty tho
down to 89...
72
Gooo Cos gooo.
I need a small break to check on things...
mid
pease
OOPS
:!
I always thought Santa was in the Macy's parade to remind children that it was a month until Christmas. Be nice, not naughty, and all that. Being a Pagan by nature, I am not ready to celebrate Yule until the harvest celebration is complete. Ergo, Christmas decorations are too early in November. It's nice that we all celebrate in the way that makes us content.
btw.... do u know anyone named holly? she added me as a friend on fb an im trying to figure out who she is her
Cos, if you go to Rankings and CTRL F with a search for Holly you will find a HollyF and a Holly16. I am strictly Molly, legally Marie, but that is another story.
thanks :)
thus grid is killing me
i cant for the love of god find the first re 5/12
ok I am back , watching the magic game...

In my mind, yes.
Molly, whereabouts is Germantown?
Maryland. And say Hey to The Universe for me whilst you are traveling.
I'm back!
Okay. I'm more familiar with the northeastern part of Maryland since I live in Delaware.
Hi lil!

good night dear babblers
How have you been, lil?

Very well. Don't want to be a broken record (Molly has heard this before), but I just finished up a grueling humorous speech competition with Toastmasters. It literally consumed my life!
i saw the diet one! funny"!
Yep, that's it. Oh, and I did win the real-life Biggest Loser contest at work. So that was cool.

Anything new with you?

my mom use to say panties in a wad too - lol
when I lived in England, we said don't get your knickers in a twist
Mothers have the best "non-words"
yes, they make our lives challenging that way
Thanks to me, my kids all know what "gloves cold" means. : )
haha, i understand that one, molly
my college roomie and I would ask each other, Is it NE cold???? {NE = nipple erection}
On of my old boyfriends used to say "it's nips out cold"

Oh. That is a not nice grid
i'm not thrilled.
Do you have a clue for the second ra5? I have the pt of the ra4.
Fireworks finally.
I think this grid made me stupid.
I spent 10 minutes trying to monkey what turned out to be a plural.
past tense
Hi TO. I had the past tense. I missed the present.
Is there anyone here who needs clues before I go?
night, i am going also. falling asleep
Hello all...
Hi Jellen.
How are you tonight?
Hi, wht...I see congrats are in order!
ty.
I'm doing well...should be paying bills, but I've got my priorities...
I see.
I was just on my way out. Do you need any clues or anything else before I go?
Oh, I still have 131 left...
Plenty of work to do before I ask for clues...
OK. Well have a good evening. There is wine and chocolate in the PB if you need it.
Thanks, hope your evening is good, too!
{poof}
good evening, all
Hi, TNC!

:-D please give her my best!
Hello again all. I was here before briefly and then had to go. I'm stopping at 156 words and 1900 points. I'm going to actually try to get to bed at a decent hour.
howdy min
hello min! welcome to the grid, well done and sweet dreams! *showers min with sleepy glitter*
Hi, Min
i am stopping at 77 words and 1800 points
if i know i cannot finish,i always cherry pick the big point words;))
gee cross, that's a GOOD strategy!
but you must have a list to do that...
down to 47 now
nope,i pay close attn to the clues in the morning,EVERYONE always ask for the biggies:)
oh.... I see! pretty smart!
so i have not seen a list at all today
lol,,kk stid
"miraca" a maraca that sounds nice?
(miracle + maraca....)
Hi. As Crossy said, it's not aways necessary to have @A List' to finish.
Lists are good sometimes, though. But not all of the time.
hey jac!
anyways i shall big you all a very good night,tc and happy babbling...poof
Hi Stid.
Bye, crossy
Hi, Jac
'Nigh Crossy. Dream of bacon and then awake and don't eat any.
sweet dreams cross!
Do you need any clues Stid?
no jac, just attained my goal of 40 to go. heading off to make some sense of the paperwork due on Monday. See you again soon!
*scatters choclits liberally* *poof*
Bye, stid
I'll probably be here for about another 20 mins/half hour. It's 3.34am here in UK.
Oh, okay Stid. 'Bye.x
Hi Jellen. Didn't see you before. How are you doing? Life and gridwise.
Life is good! Grid is okay...
Jellen - glad to hear life is good and just yell i f you need a grid clue.
OOps, PB for me because I just typed an he4 word.
di 9/60 please?
Jellen - one of the definitions is this: the separation of two adjacent vowels, dividing one syllable into two. Failing that, think of uncrontollable bowel movement for first 3 letteres, then add a vowel, and then the short form of your female sibling.
Oh, and stick a consonant between the vowel and your sibling.
The last part of the word might be like to re + little sibling + consonant temptation.
Thanks, Jac
Am I making any sense?
Ah! It worked!
Between you and the reverse dictionary, it worked well!
I bet you got it from the definition re Google, rathe than from my clues. LOL
Never used the reverse dictionary, so would not know.
I still tend to rely on my brain for the answers. As I've got older, it's sometimes a hike up a load of stairs to the filiing cabinet that contains the answer, but I get there in the end. LOL
lol
That's how a 53 year old brain, full of all sorts of extra crap, works.
I'm a librarian by training and nature, so I like to use resources, if available...
brb, need to make a phone call...
I once used to know the name of every plant in my garden in both English and in Latin. These days, the Latin name comes to mind first. This is worrying, since Latin was one of my worst subjects at school.
hi all
Okay Jellen.
Hi jmc.
happy to say i never took latin
Hi, jmc
although it would come in handy in Babble
jmc - actually it was a great subject to have studied for one interested in words, their source and meanings.
hmm i am a dilettante and a dabbler when it comes to that
As a writer, I've never regretted taking Latin and always thanked the fact that I did. even though I was rubbish at it.
Mind you, having studied French at 4 years' old and done it until I was 15, also helped. As did knowing Welsh, studying German because I had a German b'f for a while, and I got some Portueguse and Spanish, too, along the way. All of that helps with finding words on Babble.
hello again, everyone . I'm back to chat a bit and finish 19 words !!
all of that would jac!
hi diane
Hi diane
i have no inclination to finish with 160 left and a bit of a vanilla pudding headache
Did I mention the bit of Gree, too? LOL
*GreeK
I've never taken Latin, but I've sung Vivaldi's Gloria, totally in Latin, and our choir leader made us learn the meanings, so that we could sing with "feeling".... It was an experience for sure !
show off! ;-P
Hi Diane.
hi jmc :-) Hi Jellen :-) Hi Jacula :-)
jmc - I don't often puff my breast out, but I thought I would for a moment. *grins*
np i think you should be just a tad proud of all that
*pins a medal on jacs puffed out breast*
I would love to be even bilingual
I've never thought of it like that before, jmc. Thanks! I feel a lot better about myself for you having sa4 that.
i can putter along when i am in a country even if people dont speak english but i never remember anything when i get back to the U.S.
Phwoof! jmc! You shouldn't have stuck that pin in my inflated breast! LOL.
oh sorry did i stick you?
hello my friends. I am not going to finish this grid, but I sure would like to get nbs at least. any clues for any of the nines, please?
i was telling the story of my (very) short speech in swahili tonight and I couldn't remember how it went
So r r y, c a n't a n s w e r cos I'm doubled up. LOL
Hi, Trif
hello jellen my dear
i have a di*ry and I keep it h*** in my desk +not bro
Trif - turst you to eclipse us all! Swahili?
Oh LOL/
oops i think i hurt jac
oof, urgh! I'm fine, honestly.
it was only a sentence but I was very proud to give it to the class in Kaimosi Kenya and they were very surprised i bothered
Well don, you, JMC!
asante sana marafiki something
th 9/66 def. article + sp. river. ( fem ) + suit***e
it meant thank you very much my Friends
trif did you see my di9 clue?
there are 3 others all related
Ahsante sana watotos.
hmmm
jmc - I'm not sure of the ending of the frined word.
*friend, I meant.
rifiki is what i was taught as friend
That's another thing I have been studying, African languages.
marafiki is plural
watoto is probaby the formal form, like in French.
i like that they put the plural on the front of the word but it must make looking things up in the dictionary hard
hmm the swahili translator translates watoto to children
Isn't language wonderful? iT LEADS YOU HERE, IT LEADS YOU THERE, IT LEADS YOU EVERY BLOOMING WHERE. But,. it does make you think.
I did not jmc, but I got the river clue thingie, so I have nbs at last!
good for you
i have a di*ry and I keep it h*** in my desk +not bro
it is fun Jac
I suppose, when you first stsrt learning a language, you learn it as a child. When I did Welsh, I rea children's books.
not a bad idea jac
well i am off to bed with my headache see you all later
finally! yes, I get it now! I kept getting the second chunk wrong. Thought it was "hidden" in my desk, or some such
no much shorter than hidden
bye *poof*
yes. it's late, and I am stoooopid at this point
Bye, jmc
yes. it's late, and I am stoooopid at this point
16 left and not motivated...
Esperanto, as a so-called world language din't work. So, let's all just learn like children and eventuaall, we'll all be able to talk.
I seem to be losing my ability to type word endings. Time to go, I guess.
oh, esperanto....god bless it....
Between every language in the world, there are links that make them understandable. Though I admit that for Poland, Russia etc., you have to learn the alphabet, as you do for Welsh.
But when you hear the words spoken, if you know enough languages, their IS a link between almost all.
8There! eek!
Time I was off to seek warmth from the hairy-chested, snoring one now. My cold feet will get him up in time for work. :-D
Heh!
heh, so I just found out I got the di9 but can't spell, or possibly can't type. :o/ And falling asleep on your keyboard is not a good thing... Babble is trying to explain that "gggggggggggggggggggggggggggg......" is not a word.
lol, dfm...
yay, fireworks (listed with 9 to go)
Yay for you, dfm!!!
yeah, the textbox was filled with about two hours of being asleep on the G key, and I for some reason decided the best way to deal with that was to hit the Enter key. :o\
:-)
it took about 4 minutes for Babble to confirm its status as a word (or non-word really).
fireflies (I like sprite's term)
Yay for jilli!!!
good evening Jillibus and hi again Jellen
We don't get fireflies out here on the Wet Coast really, and I miss them.
ty jellen
re 6/21, the last two, please?
I still have 10 words and not getting anywhere. I hate to give up ... but have to be up early in the a.m. Hubby is having eye surgery tomorrow... macular hole in the retina
re6 -- hotdogs with re6, and I uttered it again.
relish
I have one of them Jellen to savour greatly or green condiment we put on hotdogs
Oops!
lol....
ask for clues, diane
I will
cosy tea-cosy, diane!
thanks jilli.... that was one of mine reiterated
ri 6/24 and 7/36
ri6/24 -- why is a raven like a writing-desk? and past tense.
sorry -- pl
I chose that one because it sort of matches my royal albert pattern
nice choice, diane!
the one I have is rather ratty and well used
hmmmm.... your clue is very cryptic, and I'm very dense.... thinking, ... thinking....
did you get the ri6 & 7 clues, diane?
no.... lol
raven raven....
no, nothiong to do with ravens -- just a silly question
To copy sprite and jilli, Fireflies!!
got it LOL
YAY jellen!!!
like things we ask our grandkids and they love them
diane -- did you ever read Alice in Wonderland? The Mad Tea Party (like what's happening in the USA?)
I feel dumb.... I figured out as 7/36 ans 9/66 on my own with a little monkey help and I couldn't see those re words
nothing dumb about that, diane
well, I have read Alice many times over the years.... and watched several different movies
I mean the ri words.... not hard words
I'd rather watch my imagination than the movies
there was a cute one made for TV that my grandkids enjoyed... but I did like the one with Sammy Davis Jr. in it...
The only movies lately that matched my imagination were the Swedish subtitled Girl Who ones. Perfect.
de 5/14 & 6/21
Alice is NOT CUTE.
I'm not much into movies, or TV...
Neither is Pooh. Disney be damned.
lol.... jill is venting just a tad.
de5/14 -- remove remnants of a fire.
de6 -- same first 3 letters + I hope you are well and not **l
thank you... and I see that they are not related
de6 clue not working?
no..... lol
sorry -- same first 4 letters
opp. of well to me is **l
aha
or same first 3 letters and this is a ***ly word
thankyou thank you
5 to go
duh to me, can't count
gogogodiane
di 6/30
thanks to you, I think I'll make it.
I won't be playing tomorrow, ... will be spending the day at the hospital with hubby, and they will keep him overnight.
di6/30 -- I think of this as a fabric used for old-fashionded little girls' dresses or aprons
*typo time
di6 starts with not bright...
i know the fabric you mean... just have to play around with the letters
thanks... got it
I was thinking of dirndl didn't help !! l
keep going, diane :)
the last 4 are all se words... I could probably monkey them but getting tired... se 5/20 & 6/33 then 5/12 & 6/21
se5/20 -- grab (uses the high scoring letter)
and the 6 is the one who does
thanks... got them both !
the se5/20 -- add a cons to the previous word, pl for the 6
I should be able to get these next two
thanks a bunch Jill !! fireflies, as you said earlier
I don't think I even worked on those last two... they were staring me in the face
YAY diane!!!
YAY Diane!
Yayyy.... I haven't asked for help for the last 3 or 4 grids, although have picked up a few along the way in the chat .... I enjoy the game immensely !!
hey all, trying to finish, not making HUGE progress
Well, HI STID!!!
thanks Stid.... nice to see you too.

I have to say I really enjoyed looking at the pictures from the babble gathering last Aug.... and now that I know some of you, it meant even more to look at them. Looks like you had a great time !!!

yes diane!
:-)) nice.
sorry, using lickety on my old computer. can hardly believe this was adequate for my eyes last year -- just applied to get audio books from an organization that reads for blind people *sigh*
Ann Frank's work to start + a vowell+ ends in not brother
ann frank's work + british for not long + not brother
di9 is a brit spelling of "the separation of two adjacent vowels, dividing one syllable into two."
there's the poetic word for "before" in there somewhere
hi ruru xx

hi ruru

LOL.. wondered when you'd catch that jilli
*my kind of guy granny(
punmania, I suspect, eh granny? Include all my descendants and my late hubby.
I hope hootowl isn't around it drives her nuts
my guess is that you are very alike. very knowledgeable, well-read, film buff , retentive ( not anal ) memory, etc

WTG STID!!!
I have a photgraphic memory for many things granny

I can't mix my alcohols like that jilli.. I'd have a migraine
No problem here, ruru
lucky you..I can't even mix red and white wine
It's a sequence, with food in between.
the Shiraz went nicely with dessert -- hald a toasted cranberry scone, topped with frozen REAL local summer strawberries and my own creme fraiche.
*half

It is!
can you mix bourbon with wine?
nope
You should know, jmc, lol!
mmmmm creme fraiche

I don't like scotch although I should, being a Murray.
i was in a terrible mood but my boy called and I felt better
oh, i thought it was jigsaw.com. that site has jigsaws to do. now must try jigzone later tonite
How's he doing, je?
