any experts here on turkey rice soup?
pb for ruru
yes
oops
tell me what spices you use please
wondering what I missed...
nothing too overpowering dee or you lose the taste of the turkey.
white pepper, thyme, sage, powdered garlic,
are you making turkey soup from scratch?
lovage is great with turkey, as are thyme and rosemary and marjoram and sage
so far... onions, celery, carrots, teeny bit of garlic, pepper, salt, turkey, rice, carrots, canned tomatoes... yes nan
have you made the stock yet?
forgot the thyme, rosemary, marjoram... not fond of sage...
yes
leftover from Thksg
rosemary is a bit too strong for turkey
how about marjoram?
I think all you need to add is basil, a couple of bay leaves and some parsley
(tiny bit of sage dee.. just a tiny bit)
yes, sage can overpower if too much
saw one recipe with cumin but that seemed aggressive... ok ru... you have never steered me wrong yet
yum nan that sounds good, too... decisions, decisions
oh, I do have parsley already
yes with tomatoes the basil is a good call
k, so vote is basil? Should I use marjoram, too?
If you do, don't use much -- it is also very overpowering
sounds good... we like marjoram and basil in spaghetti sauce...
marjoram is too strong for soup
lurking fireworks & poofters!
k
wtg pug
unless it is fresh marjoram
congrats, pug
i've not found it so, ru, but tastes vary
Lurking congrats
congrats and g'night pug
I'm off to seek my pillow -- see you tomorrow.
one site said to cut soft tortillas into strips, sear them in a pan and place on top at the end...
do some dee and see how it goes.. don't keep adding if the flavors don't show.. soup is always better the next day
true... cooking in crockpot now and starting to have aroma... will taste before I add anything
g'night nan
i think i'll head off to sleep too

this is a quick moving one. just 37 left after about 15 minutes
*peeks in to see if anyone is here*
nope - no-one here
Sorry, must have missed you curled up there in the corner. Well, it's pushing 1 am here, so I'm off too.
sleep well Jan
good morning everybody
hi Ruby...just leaving for a bit. perhaps see you later
{{lynxx}}
*wakes up* hi {{ruby}} :o)
{{dfm}}
just started, nice corner so far!
*yaa~~awn* I need to stop falling asleep randomly...
this is a pretty easy grid :o) ruby! we need you to finish at least one grid!
I've been doing this for about a week less than a year and have only finished about 4 grids, and that was with some help from my friends. But, at least, I don't use lists....what I get is what I get!
Good morning/evening all.
hi Haz! :o)
hello haz (is not in the ghrid)
Hello! How are you today?
so far, I love this grid
Yes, it seems to be civilised.
50 words in 10 minutes! yay
Morning!
{{FM!!}}
Good morning, FM!
hi FM! :o)
Hello hello :) A reasonable sized grid by the look of it.
Have you had any more snow Haz?
it's also a nice grid! :o)
PHone..
are you done with it dfm?
Hope you are keeping warm ruby.
And I'm back. No more snow, thankfully and what we had is beginning to shrink.
no... brain not workey today, and 47 left.
only wearing four layers of clothes -- look like the Michelin man
"only".
Bibbendum - the name of the Michelin man.
lol
do you know that great Michelin building in London?
I only know that because we have a Michelin factory near here who help to sponsor RDA and who used to send along a man dressed up in an air-conditioned Bibbendum suit to present prizes. The horses weren't impressed.
I bet he spooked the horses!
They weren't happy by his appearance, nor by the noise from the air-conditioning unit inside the costume, it kind of hummed.
lol, w/out it I guess he would have hummed :)
I know!
oops my system went a bit screwy there, guess it is telling me it is time to go do work stuff - or at least check emails . biab.
I'm just reading/replying to one from Ata.
I'll see you later once you've done enough work to satisfy your conscience.
Ta :)
speaking of work... I need to start writing a report (and redacting my introduction) that's due... umm... tomorrow (in 19 hours)... >.>
Was this the introduction that was much too long?
mmhmm >.<
Get the red pen ready....
*pops in* *giggles madly at the email I sent*
hi ata! :o)
Okay, in your case it'll be the delete button, but you get my drift.
I'm just replying to it, Ata.
I'm off to count geese :)
if the car will work in the snow
Have you a target to reach?
count geese? o.0
better than counting sheep, honk honk
noooo just seeing the numbers in a migration zone near here
If there are fewer geese than last year does it mean anything significant?
morning all how many words today please on this very snowy day
Hello sandra. 179
thanks
climate change is the usual culprit with bird migration numbers
ah... field biologist of some so4?
marine biologist who knows nothing about geese - yet!
ok, must go and wrap up etc etc. back later probably with interesting tales to tell
Yes, wrap up warm and let us know how you get on.
and tails to tally!
byeeee :) *flaps off*
bye ata :o)
bye ata
Toodle-oo.
106 and poof, everybody else
yay, down to the C, so far only needed to monkey three words...
See you later, ruby.
bye ruby :o)
down to 2 C words and I'm reduced to monkeying / dropping my keyboard (which ISN'T giving me words today! :o()
Well, the resources are at your fingertips to end your torture. You're choosing to annoy yourself.
but it works! ... eventually... usually...
It's not the best use of your time, though. Not when you have an introduction to rip to shreds.
yeah, good point >.> probably gonna come back to this later then...
Hi again Emails read and actioned, needless to say all last night football matches were off.
... and it is snowing :(
Hello again, FM. I'm just giving dfm a subtle hint about time management.
My sympathy, FM.
dfm needs to shut his mind to babble and apply himself to the paper.
See you later, dfm. Still 20 hours until the puzzle changes, you'll manage both if you're as disciplined as we are.
yes I do... no need to repeat what I did to herin yesterday, I get the point ;o)
What are we like? Two wise old biddies trying to get him to do his work.
Mind you I could say the same thing about myself as it is month end and therefore I have have things to do.
What did you do to herin? I've missed out on something.
she was too lazy to get up and make waffles this (her) morning...
Shocking!
Has she never got those cats trained yet?
and I think I said "herin go make your waffles" some ten-odd times?
Hey who are you calling old by the way Haz?
I have a husband and a daughter who always work to the limit of the deadline. My other daughter and I get things done before they are due. Neither of us can understand the others' way of working.
Old in the most positive sense of the word....
lol
Did she evenutally go and make the waffles or did she just get cross at herself for having mentioned the word waffle?
I usually (key word: usually) get 80% of something do4 in the first 10% of the time... then forget about it until the last 10 of the time I have x.x
*last 10%
I don't know what I do but I get things do4. With the honourable exception of anything involving needles and thread.
she stopped speaking after a while :o/ I presume to make waffles, but that assumption may be erroneous.
She may have fallen asleep again.
or got fed up with you telling her to go and make waffles :)
Any troll activity last night?
yaay, my introduction is now within +200% of the word limit.
Didn't notice any, but I may have been asleep.
HAven't seen or heard of any for about 24 hours .
That's good, he/she/they may have moved on.
/it
I missed the big kerfuffle a few days ago but the ones I have seen are nothing like the ones we used to get.
No, thank goodness.
What have I been missing? Hello all
hi lyn! :o)
Good evening lynxxx
Hello, lynxxx. We've been trying to encourage dfm to knuckle down to his work.
redacting a 3500-word introduction to 500 words isn't fun though x.x down to 1200... can't see it getting much shorter...
Will you stop using the w word Haz and reminding me what I too should be doing.
I'd start again. Think what you want your introduction to say (it's an introduction, not the whole piece) and say it in short, snappy, grammatically correct manner.
some-one pass the boy Carlee's purple highlighter!
dfm have you written the rest of the paper yet or just the intro?
Phantom: Condolence.
Hello, All :-)
Sometimes it's easier to start again than to try to rip up what you've already done. The ideas are there, it's just a question of being disciplined.
Hello, zooz!
Morning zooz :)
hi Zooz!
Thankfully only the odd snow shower that lasts about two mins..nothing settled at all.
hi zooz! :o)
How is it over on the IoW?
Just the intro... and the conclusion... apparently I misunderstood the topic and thus my original body (which also exceeded word limits -.-) is invalid :o(
oh thats good zooz
That's disappointing, dfm.
So, is the whole thing to be rewritten?
What is the topic dfm?
approximately...
I bet we won't even understand the title.
Probably, but I had compelling urge to ask.
I know, showing interest is polite. And who knows, it might be right up our street?
It won't be an appreciation of Elvis Presley, I know that much.
He hadn't heard of him until yesterday.
it's supposed to be an analysis and reflection of learning styles (i.e. Stirling's and Fleming's VARK system) and how it applies to the co-op (and university classroom) environment.
I'm awfully fond of Stirling, myself.
Lovely castle.
I wrote an explication instead :o(
LOL
Start again dfm pick out an salient points you had in your intro and get stuck in.
*any not an
Well, dfm, I can offer no help on the topic, but FM is right.
Don't allow yourself to find any more babble words until that intro is done.
I can so4 of morph and squeeze the explication into an analysis... I think...
and that is lecture time over. Do you realise I haven't put a single word in the grid yet! sheesh.
Actually, we should be refusing to talk to you. We should be sending you to temporary Coventry and boycotting you.
Anyone know the origin of the word boycott? Five points are on offer.
from the cricketer.
?
No!
darn
I know! >.>
Tut, tut, you haven't been doing your Irish history lessons.
Sing out, dfm.
Do enlighten us as dfm is NOT allowed to partipate.
Haz, he is supposed to be working!
a landlord agent.
Is he not? zooz or lynxxx, any wisdom from your end?
Charles Boycott :o)
But if we allow him to explain and make him promise to work after that?
some who collects rent.
oh you are too soft
Excellent, we're on the way to an explanation. Captain Boycott, land agent. Where? Which century?
I have no idea so I will just watch and learn.
1880
late something-teen hundreds... seven? eight? Ireland
Ireland, yes, Co Mayo. He tried to undermine Parnell's system of land reform and what did the natives do?
become restless?
Very restless, but specifically?
It's like dragging blood from a stone.
Or pulling hens' teeth.
lol
someone put me out of my misery!
natives? o.0
demanded a reduction in their rents.
They refused to cooperate with him. Wouldn't serve him in shops, wouldn't work for him, wouldn't deliver letters.
It was the first instance of a boycott - refusal to work or associate with someone.
they did a boycott :-)
Exactly, zooz.
So, now you know. History lesson completed and have you started your introduction, dfm?
So who got the 5 points..lol
Suddenly I have this love of Stirling's and Fleming's VARK system, I'm sure it would be less painful.
>.> in the process of writing it
I think the 5 points would have to be shared.
And I'd retain most of them!
The quiz mistress can not retain points for her own benefit.
lol
You're such a stickler for the rules.
:) I see that Gillian Mcthingy has been evicted from the jungle.
Thank goodness.
Do you know, I haven't watched a single minute of it, but the papers have been giving reports. She's not exactly endeared herself to the nation, it would seem.
HAven't been watching the show but from clips I've seen am amazed she lasted so long.
And I love the McThing name, that sums her up.
Put it this way, i would not want to eat at her house..lol
No, she's always come across as a bit strident. The sort you'd want to boycott.
lol
I'd ask who that is, but... busy!
lol
she also sews food items into her knickers.
Wee shrewish sc5 woman.
how hygenic
That's one way of making sure nobody asks for a share.
I keep coming back into 'strange' conversations
They other so called stars knew whe was putting extras into the food, to make it taste nice. But did not know it was from her knickers..LOL
the*
Poor lynxxx, it's what happens when you chat with Brits.
WE were talking about "Im a Celebrity, get me out of here"
Or 'I'm in need of television work, I'll do anything for publicity, lock me in a fake jungle to let me annoy everyone'
Finding this grid rather nice, found 111 words already.
I have managed to avoid that one - something about the title warned me
You are a wise woman, lynxxx. You might be fit to join with FM's and my wise old biddies club.
FM doesn't like the title, that's a bit of a problem.
Im not old!
Nor am I! We're just mature in thought.
Haz is just getting ready to be a 'gran'
you're both older than I am ;o)
and by default that makes you not old either Haz and lynxxx is a spring chicken.
Do you know something I don't, lynxxx?
you could substitute the `old` for `ole` :-)
you are old when shop assisants start calling you madam
darn, I just thought they were being polite.
Oh well, that's a while off - here, the ones I know call me by my name!
Phone...
yup we are older than you dfm but the joy is we do not have to battle with meeting a dealine for a paper. WE have been there done that and already got the qualifications.
won't accept dosh
my caps lock is getting very choosy on what letters to stick on.
I'll accept dosh lynxxx :)
on laptop?
I would too!
no on cheap keyboard - I have to have a proper keyboard.
come on - you can change
good morning everyone. I feel that my day has been justified by learning where "boycott" came from. And yes, amen to be old enough to probably never had to hand in another paper in one's life!!
LOL and greetings dear Eva!
This from some-one who's calculator even had a paper roll in it
hi Eva
How are you Eva and of course I must ask after Merp too :)
I liked those old calculators. They made such a satisfying sound. You really felt you were getting somewhere. They should program that sound into the new calculators. I'm fine...just wondering what I'm doing up for hours in the blackness of the winter morning. Merp is snoring at my feet having already tried once to take a chunk out of me this morning.
Hello, Eva :-)
Oh dear, still doing that
Hi everyone. How are all of you this morning? Is it bleak and chilly where you are?
hi Eva :o)
I remember the 'calculators' where you keyed the numbers and commands in on what looked like a cash register and then pulled the handle down to make the calculation.
Not down here - very pleasant weather
Yes cold, lots of snow in parts of the UK.
yes-exactly FM. And they would go "katching"
Hey - I worked one of those when in the Bank - my first job!
I
I'd love to be in Australia right now. But can't stand the process of getting there. Could you maybe nudge it a bit closer?
I think I must have worked at some archaic companies before I found silicone valley.
Also worked on a ledger machine - at least you could fix broken bits with paper clips. That won't work on modern day laptops/computers
I'll get out the paddles Eva
Good morning, Eva - I'm just back from my phone call but have to take a break. I'll be back shortly...
and thwacking things no longer makes them work
morning Haz
that is true Eva but sometimes it is very satisfying.
Thwacking a Macbook could be quite costly
lol true
maybe if I turn on my light box I'll feel less like something from the ooze
there. Now I'm being enlightened.
:-)
Wonder how far, Lynxxx, has got with the paddling..lol
I really am going to have to tear myself away from here for a while, the chat has been great but I must go for a while. Happy Babbling!
ssshhh - she gave up
Bye FM!
bye FM
Take care, FM..stay warm :-)
how many letter for the `y` please?
y6
dunno
Thank you.
TY
that was easy then
got it..just like that. :-)
Zooz - I still have that suet site you pointed me to. Would you make suet pastry for mince tarts or is that an overkill?
Yeah might be ok, but would not be nice light & crumbly.
OK sounds like I should just do my old one - thanks
i would stick to short crust pastry, so much better.
I will
n
Hello, Frances ;-)
still missing 11 `c` words :-(
I'm still missing 17!

Take care, Lynxxx :-)
at last i have found all the `c`s.
36 more words to find, will be back soon.
good morning. with so mny S, I would have thought a bigger grid!
Hello, Red, yes true. Still a nice grid though :-)
indeed, I am over half way, I think I will try to go running and retunr...
Ok, enjoy your run :-)
yes, just like a second job the running.
good morning dear friends - I haven
oops
Hello, JBV :-)
haven't been chatting lately - and today I share some very sad news - we are planning a funeral for my dear husband today
Oh, JBV, i am so sorry to hear that news.
he has had some very serious medical challenges over the years and was always able to recover and keep on going - he had amazing strength, but this time it was not possible to save him
oh no! ((((((jbv)))))
I am so, so sorry to hear that news, dear jbv. prayers are with you....
I hope you have other family & friends around you, JBV.
I have a wonderful family but it gives me great comfort to know you are all out there and thinking of you
my husband was a leader in his community and was very well loved by many. There has been and will continue to be a great outpouring of love and support. Thank you everyone - I will try to stop in here whenever I can for a few minutes of brain peace
We are always here for you, Jbv, so when ever you want to talk about it, feel free to do so.
thank you, zoom
JBV deepest condolences
jbv, you are well loved by many too. ditto what zooz said
JBV, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss -- many many hugs to you
Thank you everyone - hugs back to all of you
I have found that knowing people care (even people you may never have met) is very comforting
that's so true
I was thinking the sme thing, Jean, most of us have never met, yet the Babble community is always loving & caring, makes me so glad i found babble.
I agree
same*
so sorry to hear of your loss jbv ((((((hugs)))))))
yes we have been through weddings, births, funerals together - and of course lots of laughs
there's always someone here 24/7 warm and willing to give you a hug and lend you an ear
JBV - my hearts goes out to you. I will keep you in my prayers.
I've met a few babblers and I can tell you they're as great in person as they are here in the chat
thanks, wildcat and Nonnie
are you friends with jmc? she could be a huge comfort to you right now, having walked in your moccasins, as it were
just from chatting here - yes I "know" her
did she lose her husband?
yes, she did, years ago now
so have I
and Jellen recently
how many years were you together Jean? We were 33 years
28 years JB
28 years married 2 years together before that
Hello JBV - what sad sad news, I hope the next few days are are easy as they can be. Will be thinking of you
he died from pancreatic cancer, diagnosed 1 week after we buried my mother
Hi Espritd & Trif
then HIS mother died on the day of his funeral
hi lyn
I have to leave for work but will be thinking about you and praying for you jbv (((((hugs)))))
(((EspritdJean))) that had to have been very difficult for you.
You have had some bad recent years Espritd
it was pretty brutal
hi Nonnie
barely time to recover from one, than another loss
hello lynxxx :o)
wow, Jean, that sounds really terrible
and then your brother...I do hope that is the end of it all for you Espritd (hugs)
I need to get ready for work. Take care all. Hugs to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one.
JBV I found a grief support group was one of the best things I did for myself after my husband died
BBL must eat some dinner
ty lyn I appreciate that
I will consider that Jean
Grid finished, take care, All, ((((JBV)))) thinking of you in my prayers.
a few months after, not right away
Well, the day is starting here - many things to do, so bye for now, and thanks again everyone
(((JBV)))
does anyone have the y?
(((EspritdJean))) hugs because you need them.
ye6.27 Trif
Trif I have the y, stats or a clue?
bless you lynx! nbt

Good morning!
good morning car my love! was hoping you would stumble in
Hey car. Welcome to the grid!
Stumble is exactly the right word for me this morning. Was up at 3.
no like!
I can't get the st8. Does anyone have an in-depth clue?
I have sad news to share -- JBV was here earlier and shared with us that her husband passed away a few days ago, and they are planning his service today
oh no, im so sorry to hear!
Oh no!!!! I am so sorry to hear that. I will get my candle out.
its very sad
I'm really sorry to hear that. *tear*
Oh man, I missed that. I came in just after I think. How sad for her. Prayers out.
i assume she doesn't mind me sharing that news....I hope so, anyway
A moment of silence.
okay. she seems to be holding up okay, and says she has family and friends around, and a lot of his community is supporting her now, so that's as good as can be expected
sorry to hear about JBV husband :(
was he sick? i have been so out of it lately, that i cant recall who has been ailing...
stats for top row O pls

ty Trif
I understand that he has struggled with health issues for a long time, eva.
nbt
I read back in the chat. It seems he has battled many illnesses and this last one beat him.
OK. Have changed to remembrance candle.
oh, good idea, car! will do similar
I thought it was amazing when we did likewise for Jellen.
I agree.
gads, what is with the dogs today? they just will NOT settle. Walk around, whine a little. Walk some more, whine some more. are we expecting a storm, or an earthquake?
Actually, there is rain with a warm front coming this way.
That and their mother is on her way back...tee hee!
ah, yes. that would explain my thumbs pricking. lol

Wow! Well done you! Any chance you are heading this way today?

Hi Jivingjenny0
have to go to b19 at some point (they take returns, right?) so probably
jiving= something that makes you anxious is a st8
I need help in the garage hoisting things up and down.
The ending on the st8 is a bit different than you may expect.
ugh. any chance you could ask primo? my left hip isn't speaking to me
TY Trif!
Yes, I will text him.
And its a VERY curvy word in the grid.
I love having the storage space, but hate having to rely on someone else to help. Grrr.
Hi, I'm still stuck - I have found a 6 which is very curvy but can;
It builds on the six.
but can't fathom the 8 (sorry about gam)
st 6/18 + no ifs, ands ** buts + curvy plural letter
Got it!!! thax very much
okay, off to add value. must also go to the RMV today - DREAD. that place is staffed by zombies, I swear!
Do you have to go? can it be done on line?
can't be Trif, they all work here
Yeah Jivingjenny!!!!
congrats JivingJenny
sometimes the clues are really difficult for me, other times no problem
Jivingjenny, would you clue the st 6?
We all have days like that Jenny!
<------ everyday
Has anyone else seen this horrible ad for "Snuggies" with the people singing around the piano?
oh yes Car.
It is truly horrible. If I ever thought about buying a Snuggie, this ad has totally put me off of it.
lol, I couldn't even imagine buying one
Actually, I know people who have them and they are very snuggly...guess that's where they got the name from! LOL!
I've been think about that Mom and I think it would be s + lock of hair + either **
I bet they are warm, but it seems like a hassle to get them on and off
That is a good clue Jiving!
for cryin' out loud, thank you so much
They are very user friendly Mom!
really
wonder how they wash up
have to leave you lovely people now - got to go to the post office (in the snow)
JivingJenny, nice to meet you. Be safe
Seem fine to me.
But again...after that ad....
do you have one?
Ugh, there's some random people taking a test in my english classroom and I have no idea what to do. :|
you don't have to take the test?
It's not my class. :|
It's just random people and a random teacher. D:
lol
you can babble at school?
Lol, but at least I'm not alone. I just saw a girl who's in my class walk up to the door looking confused.
College is awesome. xD
what is your major?
So yeah, I can. :3
Run cgw, run!
xD
Babble major!
Um, I don't have one at the moment. I'm only a freshman, though, so no worries. :)

Akron. It's not a super big one. :)
Oh I am still here! Karma coffee break for cgw!
Lol, too bad I don't like coffee. xD

I am fine too
yes, you are peri today! (LOL) ...how is zoe-anne?
For those who have not heard, the remembrance candle icons are for poster JBV, who posted this morning around 6AM that she has lost her husband.
she is ok, still pees outside the box sometimes but I use the pee pads and they help a lot
Molly, Oh that is so sad to hear..awful news
Oh, wow, that's so terrible. D:
I tried to change my icon when Jellen's fiance died but just couldnt do it..I simply dont know how even tho I have directions...how lame am I at computers?
Lol I know how it is with computers. I'm so not technologically savvy. xD
bbs
our favorite goose is in the grid
Hey! Can I have a hint on st8?
Annie, to change your icon, find a picture at Photobucket, or some other site where photos are uploaded...and save one to your desktop....then go in your My Account settings and click EDIT under your icon. Click browse and select the photo from your desktop.
Molly, how do you save a photo to your desktop?
(showing my ignorance here)
Where did all my words go???
Nevermind, there they are. :D
glad you found them, dg
*cg
Me too. xD
if you have in image open on your browser, right-click the mouse on it. there should be an option to "save image as" -- when that shows up, name it whatever you want, and at the dropdown at the top, click and select desktop.
Can I have a hint for st8?
thanks EvaN, I will try later. Right now I am on Babble Expert and I dont think I can do it from here.
st6 ---to repeat something over and over and either/**
st6....my week has been awful, I am under terrible st6

i think you are too young to remember them from the eighties
Oooh, I see. xD Lol no, I know who they are, actually. :D
my house reverberated with their music ( i had a a 12 yr old daughter) tickets to their concert at giant stadium were a birthday gift. we were deaf for days

xDD
Sounds more like hell, to me. xD
nice chatting with you, must go and earn my pay. syl
Lol, have fun. xD
Ugh, so. Many. C. Words. D:
I get discouraged when there are that many that start with the same letter. It takes forever to figure out if you've got them all.
found 30 of the c words with no list, proud of myself but stuck now
Yeah, seriously. I have 32, though, so that's good. :D
Dude, nice. I had to use the list. xD

Hi, Hurshy. :D
hello
Why is nobody talking? D:
hi
Hi. :)
hello everybody
hi hurshy, hello mom
I'm sorry I missed Annie!
hi cgw
Evening ruby et al.
hello FM. How cold is it?
Hi. :D
Not so bad today, about +2
they are predicting a foot of snow starting tomorrow.....
very cold here
Ugh!! Hi cgw.
:D
Just finished putting my online grocery order in for delivery in the morning :)
I prefer snow to the extreme cold!
I love snow, but I think that's because I don't have to shovel any of it. xD
snow is great if youdont have to walk or drive in it, then it is pretty :)
I just wrap myself up and stay in front of the fire
We have a huge backyard with woods in it and it looks so pretty when it snows. <3
Everything is going to freeze tonight and that is when it really gets a bit dangerous.
do you have deer, cgw?
Yeah, and coyotes.
do they come close to the house?
wow
The deer do, but the coyotes stay pretty far away.
no deer here and certainly no coyotes!
Lol, I have a dog that freaks out whenever there's deer outside, I don't know how she hears them 'cause sometimes we need binoculars to see them.
foxes yes, deer yes - coyotes umm no but there is a llama farm not far away.
what knd of dog?
the French have eaten all the deer and rabbits
A miniature schnauzer
A llama farm? o.O
there are foxes, though, but I can only smell them, have never seen one
one of the neighbors feeds them with meat from the abattoir
yup we have llama and ostrich farms here in England, people breed them for the wool (llamas) and meat (ostriches).
Speaking of foxes, have you ever seen/heard a red fox bark/call/howl or whatever it is they do? I believe there's a youtube video and it's the freakiest thing ever.
YOU EAT OSTRICHES????
and then make hats!!!
It is the female fox that makes the most scariest sound when she calls for her mate.
Ok, yeah, that's what I was thinking of. It's like something out of your nightmares. D:
I didn't know that about foxes
Have to feel sorry for the male fox when they mate but that is a whole other story.
Dude, I'm gonna see if I can find a youtube video of it. It's scaryyyy. D:
I feel sorry for preying mantis males when the mate. o.o
that's like with chow chows; they have to muzzle the females when they breed them......
Dang. o.o
It sounds like someone being strangled and ruby, v scary if you have never heard it before on a dark night alone ......
but not my Ruby!
That's so creepy. The only truly scary sounds we have in my neighborhood come from my neighbor. :|
hahah
She's kind of all around scary. But it isn't really her fault.
I will save the descriptive notes of a foxes sex life for another time :)
HAHAHAHA How kind of you. xD
the mother fox has brought the babies down for the neighbor to see
?
ditto ruby - when I was young the mother fox brought her 4 cubs up to the kitchen door in a very hard winter and they came back regularly to feed.
Hi everyone
Aw, how cute. :o
Hi, bob. :)
what a lovely memory
hi mr. bob
will never forget that.
Hi Mr Bob, then man of few words :)
dinner now, see you later
Bye. :)
Bye ruby and I must be off to tie up a few ends before the day is over.
Bye. :)
Just finishing up my last chem class, woo! :D
It is a beautiful thing when you finally grey out that C
Also, fireworks. :3
Nice going CG
:D The c's drove me crazy. D:<
hello babblers!
ahhh alone again in babble land, what shall I do?
Hi Red
You are not alone. Hello red and Molly and everyone.
him molly how are you?
Hi Haz
:D Hi everyone!
hi all
Sorry, I've been going between this window and another, so I wasn't ignoring anyone. xD
hello haz and cgw. and boo, and oh my!
Hello hello all.
Hey Boo
Hello, Boo and cgw.
I believe this grid is one of those trick grids, easy for the first half to suck you in , and then...voila! difficulty ensures.
errr ensues.
hi Haz and red
The c's are torture. D:
well, there a lot of them, so far I have 23...they have been ok, the next 23 or so may be worse...
Did anyone shop online yesterday for cyber Monday
I wish!!!! I had work all day long and it was not an easy day there!
Did you?
yes
No, I was contrary and shopped online today, but not for presents, so does that count?
yes it does
it counts Haz. Did you get some good deals Boo?
yes. i bought two things but al least I got started
I don't really shop online. So I didn't take part. :|
I did try to buy online yesterday but the item was out of stock. I tried a different website today and got the items I wanted at a lower price, so that was good.
I did try to buy online yesterday but the item was out of stock. I tried a different website today and got the items I wanted at a lower price, so that was good.
So good I've hit the enter button twice.
good for you Haz
Well, that all worked out then. :D
xD
Little triumphs like that make me happy.
Yeah, it always feels really good.
ill shop online today just to be different..howdy everyone;)
Hey, crossy. :)
Hi Cross
Hello, crossy!
there is a book i want from biblio.com ;))
a nice hardcover written in the late 30,s and sadly out of print now
howdy haz,boo,cgw;)
But is it in stock in biblio?
it is indeed
What is it? :o
it is called "20,000 years in sing sing" by Warden Edward Lawes
Have you read it or just heard about it?
::le sigh:: just back from the deli, looking forward to my favorite sammich for lunch. sit down, take a bite, and realize they forgot most of what goes on the sammich...
i would of sent it back..a dull sammich is a unhappy sammich
clue for the second co 5/14
Hello, EvaN.
alas, the deli is outside the building. would take all my lunchtime to get back and get another sammich. :(
i wish i were there to make you my famous clubhouse sammich
The second one uses a different vowel at the end, Boo.
That's depressing, EvaN. :(
As in co plus to put on.
ty
You're welcome.
I'm so hungry. I would even take a boring sammich. :(
sammich was SUPPOSED to have grilled turkey + swiss with russian dressing and cole slaw. i asked for them to add avocado. i come back to turkey (it wasnt hot by the time i got back) with avocado and tomato. no slaw, no cheese, no dressing.
:(((
that stinks Eva
Ugh, that's so stupid. I hate it when places get my order wrong. D:<
AND its on multigrain instead of wheat.
you will have to do up a ingredient list for them on a post-it note next time
Now I always check what they gave me before I leave. :)
no offense to those who like it, but i dont want seeds in my sammich.
Hello, peri.
hi Haz
sadly, crossy, its one of their sammiches! called "the georgian" -- so i ordered "the georgian with avocado"
Dude.
i never knew "with avocado" = "without everything else"
make up about 8 of your different favorite sammiches on post it notes.go to the camera shop, get them laminated and keep them in your desk to give to the deli
lol,but it is harder if it is one of their own they are messing up:((
yknow, now that i think about it... i think a gal a few people behind me ordered plain turkey with tomato + avocado. i bet they gave me hers...
sounds like it then
hope she likes swiss, russian + slaw!
She's probably complaining bitterly to someone.
sigh. i was SO looking forward to that lunch... oh well!
at least they remembered my pickle. and i still have a banana left over from breakfast...
Dude, that sounds like a disappointing lunch. :( But at least you had lunch. D:
yesterdays lunch was turkey chili from the caf which tasted uber-weird. so far, im 0-for-2 for lunches this week...heh
yes, mine must wait.off to the big city for the wifes eye appt.tc all and happy babbling
poof
You too, crossy, hope the appointment goes well. I suppose you'll be fighting off all those city women.
Bye, crossy.
Eva, this is why I bring my lunch to work. I never get my order wrong. : P
Good morning, all. I suppose I should not have read the headlines on MSN before coming here. Now I'm all bummed out. Hence the change of icon.
Hello, Judi.
Hi. What was the headline?
Uhg. Two actually that were particularly awful. A father in Michigan who (most likely) murdered his three young sons then failed at his own suicide. The other was a grandmother who threw her todler grandaughter over a railing at a mall. Child fell six stories to her death.
Awful, Judi.
Oh my god. That's so depressing. D:
Lets all practice random acts of kindness to balance that stuff out. Nice icon Judi.
So, I'm suggesting that everyone go out and perform some acts of kindness today. Let's try to restore each others faith in humanity.
Good idea. :D
speaking of random acts of kindness, i love this gal and her site: http://www.secretagentl.com/
It's horrendous to know what people are capable of doing when the mind is unbalanced.
Anyone who murders a child most certainly must be possessed by the Devil himself.
Eva, that's a great web site. She must have a lot of fun doing those kinds of things.
molly -- she used to actually keep her identity a secret, but her little project has exploded to epic proportions, so she finally revealed her identity. but she still keeps those of her affiliated agents a mystery! and people have performed little acts of kindness all over the WORLD in her name. its amazing!
That is very cool. Paying it forward. Way to go.
My connection keeps bonking on me here.
When I win the lottery, I have a non-profit I want to start and I'd like to keep it anonymous. But people tell me that once it takes off, it would be hard to keep that way.
I accidentally performed a random act of kindness last month when I forgot to take my 20 dollars cash back at the grocery store. I hope someone who really needed the money found it.
co
sorry and hi
Hello, Dorens.
i tried to perform a nice act of kindness here at work, but people were SO cynical about it. why are we so jaded?
Maybe it's because they keep getting the wrong sandwich from that shop.
That's bound to affect them.
my job is just so insane today - i am grateful for the peace of the grid
heh, maybe thats it, haz.
It's quite peaceful in here today, Dorens and a nice grid as well.
getting the wrong sandwich can be quite disturbing
hello hello :)
hi there ata!
Eva, that's like when you smile and say hello to a cute child in the store and the parents look at you like you are some kind of pervert.
i (anonymously) left inspiring notes in the ladies room... when i came back into the office, people were more or less saying "what kinda weirdo does that?" thankfully, they didnt know it was me, but i was surprised it made such an impression on them -- just not the kind of impression i was hoping to make!
Hello! Getting warmed up, Ata?
just about!
Eva, I wish I worked in your building. I would have thought that is the coolest thing.
i thought it was kinda fun. but now i know to leave my RAKs *outside* the workplace...heh
When you say 'inspiring' what sort of inspiring do you mean? 'Let's work hard, girls' or 'Chocolate in each hand = balanced diet'
Sorry for my lapse. Had to restart. I think the US Govt. is screwing up the whole web while they try to thwart WikiLeaks. Oy.
Yes, Wikileaks has hit the headlines over here.
or "Remember the Little Engine that Could... I think I can, I think I can!"
Sorry to hear your RAK's weren't well received at work, Eva. Jaded co-workers probably think you're trying to suck up or want something in return.
haz, for example, i left a note on the mirror that said "you are beautiful"
wb Judi and by the way bonking is not a computer term - it has a whole different meaning over here *grin* Evening all.
Funny, Dorens. I was thinking of "that little old ant. What makes him think he can move that rubber tree plant?"
FM, would bonking be akin to shagging? ;)
Of course it does, FM. Just like snogging. Although, I think that's a UK original.
(Waiting to see how FM explains this)
just so, judi
Well that's a good moment to come into the chog!
LOL but not quite so base shall we say.
hi all
Hello, Sally. And jmc.
Hi everyone.
i thought snogging was a shade more benign than shagging
Hello everyone.
Hello all :)
bonking is precisely the same as shagging
It is, jmc.
snogging is kissing
*pssst, Eva - I think FM just called us yanks "base" *
Hello, Becca.
When I was a teenager snogging meant not going "all the way".
and enable loves them all, yes?
she means basic not base!
but there I am going to end Intro to UK sex slang 101
Snogging is a wet kind of kissing, though, FM.
*dissapointed*
snogging = kissing in the rain
lol Ata. Well of course.
And to think this morning we were learning interesting facts about Irish history. It's all gone downhill.
It was bad enough earlier when I almost had to expain the sex lives of foxes.
Ah, I know what's going on. er4/4 is in the grid. You know how it affects FM.
lol!
oh ha ha!
Just saying...
Anyone else freezing?
What's so special about the sex lives of foxes?
Ah, I wasn't here this morning. Will have to go back later. I am fascinating at how you explained the sex lives of foxes.
Loved yr email Ata but have had some email issue today hence no reply so far.
what was the interesting irish history?
judi -- if im base, it is all FMs fault anyway...
of course it is dear EvaN :)
i'm freezing becca. stupid heating system in my school is blowing cold air throughout my office
Stupid heating in mynew house doesn't work Dorens - only 13 C in my living room. Brrrrrr.
I thought you would FM :)
Ah. Suppose we should be "chuffed".
Interesting Irish history - origin of the word boycott.
*passes out blankets and flasks of tea to Dorens and Becca*
I think that counts as your random act of kindness for today, FM.
oh thank you fm, am presently wrapped up in my old granny grey cardigan for warmth... the rest is quite welcome. will have to remember to do same for others
:)
Thank you FM. Am already wrapped in one blanket and have fingerless mitts on (which will explain any typos).
I know I should remember all the detail from this morning but I wasn't payting attention Mrs Haz and the dog ate my homework.
You're a disgrace!
I bet dfm remembers everything.
*hangs head*
I hope he finished his paper otherwise he will be in serious trouble!
Uh oh. Someone's going to time out.
Naughty step for FM.
Still, you're obviously a kind soul, so we'll let it pass.
Oh come on - who can answer the question that HAz asked ....??????????
my name was mentioned -- whaa?
Sorry, I missed the question.
The question being - what is the origin of the term 'to boycott'?
Too busy texting in class.
lol we woke dfm up.
nah, you made me look up from my other computer... GM now plays a sound when my name is mentioned >.>
*all I can hear is the sound of babblers scratching their heads or yawning or zooming to google*
Oh you are so sad dfm.
sad? But I didn't even use the froney smiley!
that is true and you haven't <---- for a while too :)
Not sorry for Mr. Boycott, but his poor wife!
totally meant 'frowney'. :o/
named after a store owner boycott
Ah helens has either done her homework or utilised the internet.
THHHHEEEERRREEEEE once was a union maid who never was afraid\
Oh, helens beat me to it. Rats.
of goons and geeks and company freaks and the supervisor who made the grade
:o/ I think I was the only one who actually knew (most) of the answer without research, besides haz...
A land agent, Captain Boycott, who tried to undermine the Land League's reforms. He was ignored, people refused to work for him etc.
Time to make tea. Bye for now!
Bye Haz.
zooz did too dfm. Byee Haz
She went to the union hall whenever there was a call and this is what she'd say!
bye Haz
Bye haz
There she goes, creates mayhem and retreats to the kitchen. EvaN you might be able to get her to make you a new sandwich :)
OOO you can't scare me I'm stickin to the union
I'm stickin to the union, I'm sticking to the union!
OOO you can't scare me I'm stickin to the union; stickin to the union til i die!
lol
Could I have the stats for the y please?
ye6/27
*turns off GM and returns to lurking/homework*
Thank you, got it.
And the top row o?
os4/4
Thank you again FM.

sorry aeb, got distracted making tea...... When people are coming to the end of their life and nothing can be done, I help them tidy up the things they want to do before changing worlds.
We discuss whatever they want so that when the time comes, they are at peace.

I heard it this morning in the chog.
I really don't have any details to share, just wanted to pay my respects.
I am sitting here and not getting a thing. Maybe I should come back in a while...
Car, can I help? I got fireworks a little while ago....

the snow we got 2 days ago is all melted :(
finito! ya hooo!
I had given up the demon drink for the month of November (partial religeon-related & partial liver-related), but on the grounds that it is minus 10 outside, and deterioriating rapidly, I capitulated tonight, and am enjoying a lovely hot whiskey. Cheers all!
gladly will send this stuff your way, cos. it's snowed every day since before thanksgiving.
enjoy it soodle!
cheers, soodle!
Yay. LBD Woo-Hoo!!
what is the longest H word/stats? i need one more H and i dont wanna list yet
nice grid with the exception of a few twisties and brain damage. less than an hour to complete!
I have a H 7/32 Cos
ho7.32, cos
hello everyone
thanks thats the one i need :) ok wish me luck
((MOM))
(((Mom))))
Cos, it is the female to the ho 4/5
Hi ((LBD)) and (((Soodle))
and good luck Cos
thanks
you're welcome Cos
Ho 7/32 is the longest H word, Cos. The person with the 'Mostest'
AH i was lookin in the wrong direction
LBD, I bought a Christmas card yesterday ... it has Maxine on the cover
it says Even if you don't get EVERYTHING you want for CHRISTMAS, think of all the people who can't even be with their families
and on the inside it reads ... Lucky Bas*****
It was the best $2.50 I have spent in a long time
LOL Mom........
opps, should be Those Lucky Bas*****
Off the top of my head, I can think of at least 10 people I know who would appreciate that card!
I am sure the people around me thought I had gone around the bend
Well Soodle, I'll gladly go buy them and send them to you
Noswaith dda - good evening. Any clues for the Y?
Aw, thanks Mom... but they are just going to have to make do with the annual 'Robin on a snowy branch' card! (Its the thought that counts, right?)
Hi Glantarell ... think longing for with a Japanese twist
Glan... Japenese currency, past tensed...
yes it is the thought that counts.
I think I am going to give this one to my sister.
or what Soodle said
thanks - another word I didn't know existed LOL
Hows the weather in Wales, Glan? (Have you Americans/Canadians noticed how obsessed us in the British Isles are with the weather?)
Nah, Soodle. You think so?
bore da Glantarell -- slainte, soodles!!! *offers choclits*
wait until we have our first major storm and see how obsessed we get
Hi Stid
((((Stid)))))
Here in mid Wales we had about 2 inches of snow on Saturday night and another inch last night. Severe weather warning for today/tonight but think it must be bnorth and east of me
it's rainy here, and gusting some pretty big wind from the southeast which is unusual at our house
bore da will be great in about 8 hours stidmamma!
hi! Here in the north east of England it is about 8/9inches of snow and still falling.
hi all,cl6/21? please
that seems like a lot of snow for your area... oh! *grin* forgot it's evening there!
hey mo! long time no see!!!
Hi Mo.
glad im not in the uk! first day6 of summer and its only about 10 degrees cel here
I only JUST emailed off my final final version of the proposal for the master's project to my faculty advisor...
well done Stid
woo hoo - ridiculous joy that the north of engkland has iot worse LOL -we've been down to -14C for the last 3 nights, hope it's warmer tonight - we don't usually get this cold until January, if at all
thanks Mom! Glad to have that finally off my chest.
oh that is so cold....
I imagine you are
Stid, are you still making that horrible drive?
we were feeling awfully chilly last week, and I think it was only down to about -10
no Mom, that ended Nov 10. *relieved look* I am so glad!
I hope you are talking celcius Stid
Stid - did you use the words 'Just' and '-10' in hte same sentence?
oh good, I hated that you had to make that drive
The temperature is pretty poor for the time of year here. I have a 34 mile drive to work, over a mountain pass, have not driven in for last 2 days.
it is the worst weather we have had here in the 16 years we have been here!!!
when I do my next student teaching in the spring it will A) be a LOT nearer home, and B) in the opposite direction! LOL
yes, Mom -- our home runs in C
good deal Stid
okay
Ditto Mo. I bought solid fuel at the beginning of November, thinking it would last til February. I had to go and buy more this afternoon. :-(
the distance doesn't seem too awful, but mountain pass wouldn't be any fun at all right now!
oh gee soodles! (is solid fuel peat, or coal?) *Innocent mama look*
and they say it is "GLOBAL WARMING" PHOOEY!!!!
two innocent looks
they have finally closed the northernmost pass in Washington... LOL
No, the mountain pass is not good in the snow. For most people, a 34 mile commute is a lomg way LOLbut we are talking windy roads here.
A combination of both, Stid.... I have oil central heating, but my kitchen is very big, and is heated by a solid fuel stove. So I use turf and coal.
LOL mo -- would be better termed "global climactic instability" some places are much much hotter than normal, and at the wrong times of the year
I think the current phrase is 'climate change'
*wonders what burning turf smells like* around here we use wood -- but I don't have a wood stove
**dreamng of a very big kitchen**
I dream of someday adding a room to the house and putting in a really big wood-burning cookstove.
Oh, Stid... have you never smelled a turf fire? Its the most delicious, homely smell in the world. (it also makes the kitchen dusty, sooty and very hard to clean!)
we have oil fired c/h and a wood burning stove.
cl6/21? pretty pretty please
we heat with gas but do have a fireplace to fall back on should we lose electric
there are several
Turf/peat was a very traditional fuel in the UK & Ireland but I don;t think you can buy it in the UK any mre -not sure about Ireland
Glan - I think the current phrase is 'Fecking Freezing'....
one means nearer one is where you hang your clothes
Fecking freezing ios spot on fer hwere LOL
here's a pic of the one I dream of... I am sure there are much nicer models but I think this one I could afford. http://tinyurl.com/35kq9f5
LOL I can identify with dust.... don't even need a stove to make it! *looks around at room*
thanks Diane Xx
cl 6/21 person who shuts something
you're welcome, sami
plural that, then also take out the R for a second 6/21
Dut is a permanent state in my home - it's 150years old and has had constant (slow) renvation for the last 10years. Plaster dust, wood dust, i HAVE ALL KINDS lol
LOL thanks diane! I didn't have the storage place
oh Stid, did you read the disclaimer that it is not legal for sale in Washington
:-)
thank you muchly :)
nope. missed that, must be new. Oh well, will keep looking.
hated for you to get your hopes up on that one only to be disappointed
I have to go see what you are hoping to buy
Boo Hoo. My battery is fading. I better go. Lovely chatting to you all... Happy Babbling, and stay safe and warm. See you all soon (((ALL))))
not surprising, just annoying.
nOS DA SOODLEBUM
*blankies and choclits for soodles* stay warm!
Ooops, caps lock
I want a real, old-fashioned cooking stove with an oven and burners.... just in case.
I love it stid ! we had a wood & coal stove until I was 16.... then had 2 stoves when we moved into town, ( one being gas ) but my mom still preferred the wood stove.
like the Walton's or Little House on the Prairier
*Prairie*
hello peeps! I just walked in.... how's the grid?
One of my first chores was to emptly the ashes, and make sure the coals were dead before shaking them down !
bye bye ((Soodle))
((((((((MONKEY))))))))
hey monkey! just got here myself!
{{{{{{ MOM! }}}}}}}}}}}
hey monkey!
{{{{{{{{{{{{ littlebit! }}}}}}}}}}}}
{{{{{{{{{{ stidlicious! }}}}}}}}}}
Hi Monkey!
86 left. should i list? :)
well, where we live we have propane trucked in, and use that for all heating needs -- hot water, cooking, furnace. AND we have a generator that runs off propane to power the house (and the well) if the power dies. But I would feel more self-sufficient with a wood stove as well. Also, the house would be drier. We have serious mold issues up here.
I am down to 51 listless cos...
{{{{{{{{{{{{ glantarell ! }}}}}}}}}}}
*throws down the choclit gauntlet*
i'l wait im still finding words
choclit?

Choclit? what do I do to earn choclit?

Good evening = Noswaith da
Good night = Nos da
nos da
ah! thanks!
noswaith da :-D
and nos da is only for tucking people in or saying goodbye -- like gute nacht in german?
Nos da is for tucking poeople in and saying goodbye
thank you so much! I used to listen to the BBC online welsh course, but that has been blocked now to folks in the US
een dye tree pedwar pimp (that's as high as I can count these days)
That's sad. I know there are very many enthusiastic Welsh learners in the US and Canada

hey bichon!
Hi Bichon
yep. 6 always is hard for me to pronounce
Corgi = cor + gi = dwarf + dog
Hi Mom and all
makes sense -- celtic languages are SO logical!
I did not know that Glantarell
oh! coch = red! but sometimes it's written and said goch. :-D
*corgi. Darned laptop keyboard
Yep - and also consistent in terms of pronunciation, unlike the basatrd English LOL
*grins* yep. I like consistent...
Hello All. Giantrell, I have probably told you this, but in College I did the Gymanfa Ganu....(Spelling?) it was quite a learning experience.... I know its not really in Fashion for young people now...
please don;t get me started on mutations - coch/goch - they are the bane of my life.
Hi ((Red))
but the mutations make sense after a while too...
hey red!
Hi Mom!
For those who have not heard, poster JBV was here early this morning to post the sad news that her husband has passed. I don't know who knows who around here, but I thought there might be some who wished to express their condolences.
many words in welsh change their first letter depending on what has come before thne in the sentence - makes it damned difficult to look things up in the dictionary LOL
Oh No. Molly. I appreciate you telling me this. He had been very ill I recall, btu I thought he had been feeling better....
oh no... thanks Molly. JBV is one of my loveliest friends here. I am so sad. Did anyone post at BabAnon?
sorry to hear of her loss.
she only just retired, and they were having such a good time. :-(
hawaiian goose alert...
Did she say how? what?
Hawaiian goose?
ne 4/4 glantarell
it's a repetitive word
You've st me LOL
lost, even
Don't know about Babanon Stid, I don't visit there. Her news is in the chat log briefly around 6 AM. It sounds as if her husband had health isssues and this last one, he could not fight.
Ah, added - but never heard of!
thanks Molly
44 left. I believe I may get the list...been thinking about it since I had 60 left....
babanon won't load
oh well.
wont load for me as well
No problem Stid. I thought those of you with email addresses might be able to spread the word and get some condolences sent her way. Sorry to make the chog droopy with sad news.
ne 4/4 is the hawaiian goose, inia is a hairy-nosed dolphin, etui is a needlecase. rather common babblets...
all new to me stidmama - thanks
((Molly)) thanks for letting us know
off to fix supper. ((Hugs)) to all of you
okay, just read back in the log. wow, what a rough time.
later Mom!
epee is my favorite babble word
bye bye ((Stid))
I used to play with one of those when I was 16...
you did? I did too, briefly while our HS had a fencing team. Never competed, just enjoyed practicing.
Me too -and not for long! School fencing team - only about 3 of us were interested.
funny --
we babblers have the strangest things in common.
you can say that again LOL
*grin* how 'bout I don't but say I did? LOL
I am down to 33, and my eyes are tired. going to take another break and then start some cookies before the boys get home. New recipe, hoping it turns out.

Good evening everyone!

Hi diane!
I just got home from work and realized that I had been wearing unmatching shoes THE WHOLE DAY. I was even at a business networking event. No wonder people looked at me funny.

I'm so embarassed.

Enjoy dinner!

but she took a pic of it and posted iton facebook
It's good to know I'm not alone!

hint for the 8 pls?
lil, extend the st before it
OK thanks ch1212
Lil, did you spit and curse during that game on Sunday. Jeeze Louise.
i was driving Molly, but listening on the radio.... DAMMIT
Oh, see driving and listening to a Redskins game is never an option for me. Too many possibilities for swerving or slamming on the brakes.
sorry, I mis-spoke... I was a passenger in the car
Okay, better. There is only one option left. A violent takeover where The Little Tyrant (Snyder) is ousted. I will dance in the streets if that happens.
phantom, connect....
me too! I actually wouldn't mind if McNabb was ousted too
Donnie Mac has not brought us much magic. Hi Red, is it warm where you are? It's lovely here tonight.
hey all
boiling here, high of 80 something, but it is supposed to get cold tomorrow.
Hi StidM.
sounds like nice weather red -- co4 like 60? LOL
co** like 40.... actual chill...
hi all
its very hot!
hey m
hi m9f
hi red, stid!
oh - and I put a condolence thread for JBV up at http://babblersanonymous.yuku.com/topi c/585/t/condolences-for-JBV.html
the link to babanon is trying to go through the old domain. the new domain is yuku.com
yes, that's chilly all right!
I posted there Stid. Turns out I am a member of another Yuku board so I didn't have to join up.
all the CO words are driving me nutty
thanks for doing that Stid. I really feel for her, she and her Hubby had had some difficult health times, but I had thought he was improving somewhat.
yes, I just saw that, molly. ((hugs))
And now, I will share my Christmas magic. My youngest has had a tough year, losing his Dad (my ex) and his StepDad. So I went the extra mile and bought him a new TV for his room. It's very cool and flat screen, and will replace the old dinosaur TV he has in there now. This gift will be my Christmas morning smile. *Insert ringing of Jingle Bells*
*bright happy* good for you Molly! he will really like that.
thats nice Molly! He should like it a lot.
*Passing Lil a stiff drink* The co words made me give up finishing this grid.
another thing to join.... sigh
I have 38 of the 40 c words, btu...not fun...
well gee. Lucky REALLY wants a stidkid to come home on the bus... but he stayed late for rehearsal (callbacks from auditions), apparently.
m, I think you can post without joining.
your kids are so active in school, stidmama, I think that is nice.
only nutty monkey? not nuttiER?
not me! LOL there is a debate thing on Saturday that I HOPE the elder stidkid signed up for... *sigh* I have volunteered to judge if they need me!
oh, there's the kettle. brb
Well, better than they sitting round playing with a joystick all day long!

I'd rather have the chocolates ...
My sister and I used to do that...you;d find them with the middles smooshed in...

Hello, Everybody. How are you all today? And how is the grid (not that it matters as I already started before I asked!)
*orange alert*

Hello Nef. it is a fun grid til abotu half way then it is a mess. and Yes, very Sad news about JBV;s hubby. I hope she is doing alright tonight.
Thanks, stid and wildcat.
how are you?
Beastly Boy, there is a "Help" page right above the chat box where you can find out how to play this game
What about JBV's husband?
What happened to JBV's husband?

she came on to tell us
ik how to play retard
oh, No! What happened?
*red alert* I'll go email Dr G
thanks stid...

Not too much news. She's in the chat log around 6AM. See the archives.
Nef, JBV;s husband has been quite ill on and off for some time... but I had thought he was doing better...
oooh we should put the candles back up for her
You know we need to do that. Wild thanks...
great suggestion.
Good idea Wildcat. Some of us switched over to candles earlier.

Yes, but we get to dance in the gazebo too Rolf.
They're going to tell us to stuff a sock in it
and Rolf is Hott hot.
right?
And then get all soaking wet. What a coming-of-age scene.
JBV is such a love, I really hate that she and her husband went through all that they did.
I was too busy mad crushing on Captain Von Trapp to notice Rolf.
Yes. I'm glad she has friends here.
BBS, my son needs some stuff I've put away....
hey
later nef

well, they had good times, too. and a strong support system.
I'm glad she has friends here too. As someone who has been where she's at, I can tell you that words of support are a blessing.
Seeing that movie as an adult- it's kind of whacky. Like the wedding scene when the chorus starts singing How do you solve a problem like Maria in the cathedral.
We had a moment of silence this morning.
The Curtains, Maria!
This is a bizarre conversation. Typical chogbabble.
Why Captain, they're PLAY CLOTHES.
indeed its fun though...
The sublime and the ridiculous
were my children in TREES????
Seeing the movie as an adult, I was much more aware of the actual situation involving Nazi's and such... I dont know how but I missed it..when I was ten.
The Von Trapp children DO NOT WEAR PLAY CLOTHES!!! *Cue smoke to come out of Christopher Plummer's ears*
yes.. they get married and you think.. that was a nice movie... and then there's a whole 'nother part!
I've been reading about the real Maria- it sounds like she was kind of crazy-
My favorite part now is when the Nuns show the car parts...
stats for the y please?
But when I was 10 I was in love with the whole cast
Reverand mother I have sinned.
ye6/27
goes right along the bottom
Ooh- the Baroness!
When Elina was little she watched that movie daily... often more then once.
4
and we'd be out and about and I'd have to sing for her.. she'd say "you be Maria...and I'll be Weasle!"
go red
thank you
Ha-ha!
hi all, so sorry to hear of JBV's loss.. am babbling late today, so far a pretty friendly grid
just wait Aloy...
ALoy are you south yet?
we have a phantom co***lence in the grid.

It would have been freaky if it really had the whole word
good observation, Kaplan.. I see it now
yes it was a good year, but its still boiling hot, supposed to cool tonight, but I am sitting here with all fans blowing and all windows wide open...
sorry, got distracted. I have had some rather strange distractabilities lately.

Just guessing, but I've probably seen "The Sound Of Music" about 30 times. My Dad took me at least six times when it was in the movie theaters.

Which dates me considerably

I like Weasel better. My cousin named her daughter Liesel.
I gotta go to bed. Night all, esp Weasel.
my dad always took us to see Fantasia when it would come to the theater.
Did you ENjoy paris? I've been a few times, but no where else in Europe sadly.

hi all
Hi jmc.
i need help with n that has one word off of it please
a light jen
duh, thanks jm
:-)
jmc - what is your icon pic?
it is pease
hello everyone! I've been here off and on all day. We are moving...Tomorrow the movers come...It's sad in a way. But we know the new owners will take good care of the property
i got tickled a few grids back to find out that pease are sea slugs
That explanation doesn't help. LOL!
hi blue!
Ah! I've learned something new, too.
hey jmc
Hi Blue.
hi Jc
and then if you visualize whirled pease. . . .
jac
although i entertained all at Thanksgiving with the word zarf
jmc - I had to ask after seeing my daughter's photos from a condom (no, that word isn't in the grid, though I did try it) shop in Amsterdam. They were 'weird and wonderful' to behold. So, I just wondered. LOL.
i agree the mini icon looks like condoms
There was 'a statue of Liberty', which looked scarey, and a 'finding Nemo' with a glow in the dark tip (Nemo was the tip). I think, if I saw that advanced towards me glowing in the dark, I would dissolve with a fit of the giggles.
Nuff said!
eek!
Exactly! LOL
It's crazy here right now...my honey's packing up our tv in the living room. We did get a good buy at Walmart 2 weeks ago, 3 flat screens under 900.

If anyone's having trouble finding the co6/21 and 7/32 that follow on from the young male horse, it's the part of the plough-share that cuts the earth before the furrow is turned over. Normally spelled with a 'u; as the 2nd vowel.
hmmm a cl**buster then ;-)
yup!
ty
the ho7/32 is the lady in charge of the party or social gathering.

lo6/21 might be crazy horses.

I lurk more than I chat.
i have ol5 on 4 or 4 4 os 4-- what O am i missing?
can lo6/21 be clued another way please?
Jen - do you have lo4/5 (mad)?
And the plural lo5.12?
If so, add a vowel before the end for the 6/21 plural.
hi again. How are you all tonight? I was here earlier, but my son came over and needed help with a project. I've only found 55 words so far. :-(
yes, jacula
hi nef
go nef go!
Jen - so add the vowel for the 6. It's from the Spanish for 'mad' or 'disease', turned into US slang by Mexicans, I think.
Hi Nef.
hi Jen, jmc, and Jac.
there must be two lo4/5
Or rather by Mexican influence. It's a popular word in Westerns for a mad horse.
i only have one
Ah, lo4/5 (2nd) sounds like a weight. Change your 2nd consonant for the mad lo4.
how about lo** weed?
Good idea, jmc.
got them, thanks!
Well done, Jen.

i have on 4/5
on** upon a time. . . .
ok
is there more than one on?
Having suffered from p/pains for all of my life, before the change and the hot sweats descended upon me to take their place, I always though crampons was a better term for a certain type of female 'sanitary ware'.:-(
*thoughT

jmc - nom there's only one on. It only happens on**.

Jac, I was driving to work several years ago and noticed how many vehicles had intimidating names: Ram Charger, Talon, Firebird, etc. I decided right then and there that if the car companies wanted an intimidating name, they should make a silver one (with doors like the Delarion -sp?) and call it a speculum
Nef LOL!!!!
Nef - I just nearly spat my drink all over my monitor.
thanks! :-D
on4/5 upon a time in ol5/12 days there was a te5/14 ho7/32 who was unable to get ro5/10 for her party

DeLorean
good advice jen -- is that from experience?
Nef, would the vehicle be unheated and have a HUGE pair of hands clad in surgical gloves on the rear?
thanks, jmc. I couldn't remember that

yes, i eating pepperoni now and almost put the packet in my mouth?
Fireworks.....thanks for all the help. See you in a bit.
maybe it should open from the front too? ;-)

Nef - nice to feel 'needed'! (Not)
Actually, I'm glad they don't "need" me. It's co** outside here and I was outside earlier with my son and I'm stiff and so** from that
My daughter and I needed each other earlier, as we cried with laughter and almost slid down a wall just before her graduation ceremony. My son was also tittering in a more controlled fashion by the time their Dad (my ex) returned from the loo. It was a 'you had to be there' moment.
may i have a clue for the last 74? half hour till bedtime!

My ex, with large camera slung around his neck, was about to go into the Men's Room, when he collided gently with another man also on his way in there. The other man said, 'Sorry!' and then went to go through the door, my Ex said, 'I'm coming in with you!' Then, realising what he'd said, backpedalled a bit and said, 'Well, not actually WITH you.' The last thing daughter and myself heard, as they disappeared through the door was the other man saying, 'Well, it WASN'T an invitation!' Cue laughter outside for us two the needed repairs to eye makeup afterwards. When Ex returned and saw us gasping, he told us that the other man didn't stand 'in a stall' by him, but went into a cubicle. 'Can't say I blame him!' I said.
well, i need to go check on emails, i leave with 74 left
lol jac
bye jen
that's pretty funny, Jac.
ANY man going into a men's room with a camera around their neck would be suspect (IMHO)
does seem high risk behavior
Nef - yes, like I said, me and my daughter already needed to repair our eyemakeup after that, but when I asked their Dad, What possessed you to even SAY THAT?' our son cracked up,too. But, you had to be there.
I can imagine that!
phantom: Torso
Another funny moment was when my daughter was looking for a mirror to check her hair not long after we got to the Graduation venue, a racecourse. her Dad found a mirror beside a lift (elevator). Unfortunately, iit was an oompalumpa mirror, a joke mirror. I did mean to go back and get my reflection with her in that photographed, but we didn't leave the same way we went in.
my phantom is terse
Nef and jmc - mix your phantoms together and you'll find 2 words.
i have the to5/10

you still have time there is more than an hour before the next grid!
and that many without a list is fabulous!
Helen, I always tell newbies to read the help page right above the chat log here; then go down to Friends of Babble (under the stats grid) and use AngelSong's Babble page as those 2 places are the best at explaining things
Thanks everyone!

hi diane...how are you?

how do i learn all the words in the world?
by finding them (it's like playing boggle)
sometimes you just have to randomly type and hope for the best, pancakes ;o)
just got new tile in my basement... new washer and dryer coming tomorrow!! so... things are great.
orse
I did a lot of that today dfm, and some of them took me by surprise.
if u r me u randomly type in a group of letters and hope the bar shows up green!
within reason of course ;-)
that works for any number of us, crystalle! :)

DFM! what are you thinking???
that's not lazy.... that's starvation !!!
Pini -- just saw your icon -- don't we have a lovely tartan?
Just wondering.....How many of you still write actual handwritten letters? I hate emailing and using facebook but it seems that "snail mail" is just not acceptable anymore
I write actual letters!
In Traditional Chinese, too! :oO
I don't much anymore ...
hey all!~
(I know, it's sad)
I write handwritten to about 10 people... Our moms are both gone now, so miss writing to them. Mother in law just passed away at age 100, this summer
oohh.. 30 mionutes
... don't really have anyone to write to.
I do, crystalle, to Luddites who don't have computers, and even others who do, at times like Christmas or a bereavement...
hi m9
wow dfm... I think chinese and japanese writing looks lovely!
oh, last night I ran out of food and the st5 closed early... this morning the oven at the office broke down and we ran out of hot water and bowls so I couldn't make anything to eat... and now I'm too busy sitting in bed to go make food...
my daughter does
*waiting for a letter from Pini*

as in they so6 their last meal on my dime!
okay, remember my comment about food cooking itself? I mean, it needs to learn to cook itself and not BURN. >:o(
the lens did? or editing?
I love the looks of the blooms, but it's prickly. The bees don't mind though.
