ooh yay, fireworks :oD
wtg dfm
quick list-less today.
wtg dfm
wd dfm (I think we have another gremlinn here)
hi flosey
hi jilli
gremlinn?
hi jilli :o)
I think so, too, jilli!
hi Pini
(no worries, dfm..that's a compliment)
gremlinn is a former speedster here, dfm -- we don't see him any more :-(
hi pini :-)
but I'm not usually this fast... especially because I choose to do it listless, sometimes I have to monkey for hours on the last one or two words...
(case in point: two-hour monkeying on "reata" five or so grids back.)
compared to the likes of most of us, dfm, you're FAST!
ouch
that's a long time to be hammering away at a 5!
Asn very knowledgeable on many subjects, which I think is even better than grem.
hi josh -- you're a speedster too.
more times than not when i get to the last one it is a fish or a plural that i've forgotten or something
fast is just lucky there weren't a lot of words I didn't know on this grid... and quick monkeying today too.
As usual, it's typo time for me :-(
and the two ly5's were my last two, fireworks
unfortunately, I was working on emails and arrived late...at this point, I'd better head out :(
My monkeys have limited vision
wd josh!
wtg Josh
<-- tired puppy
aww, pini -- sorry.
i'm like dfm, not many surprise words in this one, if you can remember babblets
cognac-, josh! erm, sorry, that was just an AWESOME typo and I decided to keep it >.> (congrats)!
*gives pini a squeaky toy*
no worries, jilli...they needed to be written...you know how it is...
thx ru :)
more like a freudian slip, dfm
best thing for tired puppies
I need to make Koda a bed just for him...wonder what kinda fabric to use so he doesn't chew through it!
nah, more like I don't know where the R went... right hand slipped up after typing the G.
hmm..
...then maybe tired puppy, koda, won't think I need him as a heated blanket!
night all.. I have to get up early too
think on that one, ru! :)
night ruru!
I will pini... I will ask about it.. we use canopy beds..for our dogs
will have to check 'em out, thx ru
actually Sophie sleeps on the bed and pushes me off
easy to assemble and very durable.. dogs love em
i'll get the web site for you tomorrow
appreciated! sleep well ;)
stuck on last word, ap5

congrats flosey, nan! :o) and night nan, pini!
ty dfm
May I ask how fast you, who already got fireworks, type?
Is everybody gone?
pretty fast at typing, not always fast at finding the words though
So, How do you do it so fast?
not necessarily, kimmi, if you check "Who's Online" you'll see quite a few babblers playing but not chatting
after playing for a while you get to know some of the strange words, not normally used every day!! if that, and also the ones we refer to as 'babblets' - they appear quite often
like the goose, nene, etc
someone will call out "goose alert" or, the Ox - anoa,
Hmmm...still, I only have 27 words and can't really see any more.
or the needle case, etwee, or etui
would you like some clues?
wow, really weird words. Sure! Clues are good.
the A words?
low female voice al4/4
and plural
ap5/16 - appropriately so
got the female voice
aput
oops
aa4, an abreviation of a law school
haha, not a word
your mother's sister, and plural
av5 - a + va4/7
as4/5 venomous snake
plural
ty! got them all so far! except the snake
in the chog, the letter Y is often referred to as the sometimes vowel
what is the chog?
here, where we are chatting
ah
the snake as + what you might add an afterthought after you have signed your letter,
huh! didn't know that was the name of a snake!
well, we learn lots doing these puzzles - unfortunately, my memory is fading!!
so true, and me too.
love your snowman
chog = short for chat log
hi jilli
flosey, if you're wondering, I've been in and out of here because of emails.
thank you. Hi Jilli
oh my
I have not received any, guess I'm just cast aside
to friends, flosey
I am going to make that peanut butter fudge that you posted the recipe for, flosey!
guess I should fix my icon, but it's Letter Writing Day so maybe emails count?
oh, will be interested in how it turns out, I haven't made it yet
I will let you know. I will probably get to it on Thursday.
ok, will be watching kimm
Hi kimm :-)
Hi Jilli!
I bought some at our annual Christmas Bazzar/sale on Saturday
I should be doing my homework.
what are you studying?
Haha! I think I must be out of my mind. I never went to college. I have been out of high school for 27 years, and I am attempting college now that my own kids are grown. It's much harder than I thought it would be and I am only taking the basic english, math, etc.
Well, good for you, kimm!
I did a history degree at Oxford when I was 61, it was hard work as like you Kimm I hadn't done any academic work since I left school at 16
I think you'll find it easier once you get into gear again.
But I almost have the first quarter out of the way. We'll see. TY Jilli!
Wow, jenny 1
good for you kimm, I wish you luck
Oh my goodness, Jiving! How did you do it??
jenny, you were brave to do that
thanks, flosey.
jenny, not jiving. sorry. You all can call me kim
Jilli, changed my icon - letter writing, almost a lost art
I didn't start out to do it, I went to the local community college to do something other than a craft course, and suddenly found I had signed up for the entrance course. It was hard but I had a very supportive husband and daughter and a spare room where I could shut myself away for hours on end. Also I did a modular degree which meant I didn't have a final exam.
that's really great Jenny
it was easier than finishing this damn grid!!
lol
sometimes they can become quite exasperating
please can you clue the U in the 2nd row
I am going to the community college too. eventually I would love to work in a medical office. gotta go girls. I have finals tomorrow and Wednesday. Good chattin with you all! Jenny just made me laugh out loud, thanks!
upst
sorry
up4/6 - up + ** you like it
never mind, just monkeyed it
any others?
did you get the to6/24 - man's wig
the middle t and the a in the right hand column
ts4/8 what you say when someone does something a bit silly? ts**, ts**
flosey that comes off the top T, thanx for the to6
oh my, flosey! another vowelless word!
oh, sorry, will look again
yes
did you finish while I wasn't looking, flosey?
yes, I did jilli, a while ago
congrats on that, and on placing at bridge too, flosey
did a couple of jig puzzles - thanks for that one, fun to do when I'm waiting for something
thanks jilli - didn't think we would
At jigzone? That was my obsession before Babble.
I always enjoyed doing them but got away from them
great doing them here, not as apt to lose pieces
so true, lol!
It was great to get the bridge results so quickly -- what happened?
I haven't tried a really big one, just ones under 100 pieces
Well, that's what's nice about jigzone -- you can adapt to the time available.
perhaps G. has more time with the afternoon game?
Oh yes.
have a meeting tomorrow afternoon, everyone bringing finger foods to go with coffee/tea - and a a few Christmas carols
I made 2-bite sized sausage rolls
Nice! I
How any people?
they're handy to have in the freezer
*many
not many, maybe 20 at most, guessing
South SS Seniors
I have errands to do, and MUST get some Xmas cards off to the UK etc -- late now.
hubby is coming - under a bit of duress
LOL!
gets impatient!! has enough meetings to attend with the Farmers' Institute
What? Your hubby gets impatient?
they'll keep this one short so we can have fun
oh, you hadn't noticed???
Never heard of such a thing
or was that said 'tongue in cheek'
Haha
<-- extracts tongue from cheek
lol
I need one word to get over halfway, and two to get nbt
can I help?
can you clue the upper A on the left please?
ap5/16 appropriately so
ah, over halfway but still need those 2 for nbt -- the lone T in the middle too
that was my last word, and this is how Nan clued it for me
tyvm, flosey
I think that was the ts** ts**
nope, I have that -- it's the T below it, 3rd row
or it might have been the tu4/6 sounds like a drinking vessel
or to6/24, gentleman's wig
nope, not that wither, but thks for it anyway
or another tu4/5 like 2000 lbs
nope, have that -- it's from the T below the middle one
have that too, and it's from the one above!
ah, tu5/16 sounds like the pu*** they use to use to glaze windows
to hold the glass in the frame
that's also from the one above, but thks again
of, of course
ahah, the little ballarina skirt
ballerina
It's gott abe the bottom tu4/6 which i can't see
AHA! NBT!
that would be it then
WTG Jilli
thanks flosey xx!
you are most welcome
I'm tired tonight -- haven't been sleeping well.
understandable
hubby gets a bit frustrated with all this stuff - but seems he reads it!
So I think I'll pack it in. May go to the movies tomorrow night to see The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest in Swedish.
hmmm, do you speak Swedish as well?
(something I'd like to do)
subtitles ;-)
ah
I've read the book
and the casting is perfect. I saw the first movie of the trilogy and have read all the books.
I took conversational french for a couple of years but without someone to talk to, I've lost any I learned - that was in 1964, 5,
Good for you -- I'm sure some has stayed with you.
not really jill, we moved back to Ontario and no one spoke it where we lived
Well, you'll just have to go to the French pastry shop near Moby's and practise ;-)
Hard to do with a mouth full of goodies, though, maybe
lol, should do that sometime anyway, am sure they must have some great items
oh, they do.
Hubs trying to cut out butter, cream, and sweets,
What a bore!
apparently Dr. has suggested
yes, but he is so diligent! I'm weaker
But they have those little cakey things, no icing or anyting -- can't remember the name just now.
* anything
Probably full of butter.
I'll pop in some time just to tempt myself
almond tartlets...lemon ditto...
little chocolate puff things...
oh, anything lemon
mmmm
and speaking of which, I'll have a bit of no fat lemon yogurt, probiotic
what a good girl!
I should get some of that. Need to shed a few more pounds.
I must, after Christmas, lose about 20 right around my tummy!
that's hard to do :-(
it's so embarrassing when Dr. measures my waist
I know the feeling, but my Dr never bothers.
oh! Dr. C. claims that they are suggesting it
All he does is punch out prescriptions when I run out, and take my BP when I remind him. Rotten dr.
No exams, blood works, noting.
8nothing
I don't have physical exam, just blood work, bp check, an questions
oh, too tired, must go to bed -- g'night and thanks for the help, flosey!
61/42 and *poof

r
My bigger concern is how I will do my run today. I have good pants and a hat but may have to wear socks on my hands....
mornin babblers!
Hi EvaN and lurking Annie :)
my father in law used to be able to get from our place to largo florida by driving 16 hours the first day, sleep for 8 and finish with 12 more hours
howdy Mrs Eva:)
hello everyone
thats a long drive.
Hellloooo Annie!!!!!
And EvaN!
good morning everyone - nice and snug here, not going anywhere
lol @ socks on the hands, for me to shovel out the car,i shall have to wear 5 layers, snow books, mitts, a balaclava and come in every 15 minutes to avoid a stroke lol
I was hiding in the grid looking at all the T's ..strange grid
weatherman this morning said this is the coldest it has been since february -- which is when we got slammed by two blizzards! (we happened to be moving during the first day of the first one)
Hi Red! Too cold down in Florida
it's cold here but no snow
I just wish for a pair of gloves...
Hello JBV. How are you holding up?
Hi JBV, How are you today?
ruby was saying the other day that it is the worst weather they have had in France since 1957.
good morning jbv and i have not caught you,but i am sorry for you loss
hi red, OK, yesterday was a very busy day - I've got lists and tackling things one at a time
this does not bode well.
my son is staying close to me - we watched two movies together yesterday
Been thinking of you quite a bit.
One day at a time JBV.
thank you crossy, and thanks red, my babble friends have been wonderful
Hey JBV! Good morning!
mm,we do not think of things like that,i guess florida does not have a big winter mitt section at the wal-marts:/
hi car!
hi car.
No indeed. they have some sweaters.
Hello Car.e!
Hi Red!
red, you were very helpful to me a few years ago after my husband's surgery - I'll always remember that
well i know that wife used to see her da down in florida when the temp dipped to 70 all wrapped up in sweaters
red -- i can teach you all about dressing in layers. i think im wearing about 50 of them today...heh
Oh Eva! How is that chill coming along??
JBV, I was surprised to hear of his passing, but...I suppose I had not seen you here in a while. I was really sad. I feel like I got to know some of his personality through talking with you here.
lol EvaN, I've got 5 layers on the top half and fingerless goves too.
hi all
quite cold these days, car... thermometer is topping off in the 30s this week. BRRR!!!
we baby sat their house one year, but they had to come back in feb when our boy was born..talk about funny! their blood was like tap water.they had the inside of that house at 90f.i had to walk around in just shorts with the sweat running off of me
he was really strong, red, fought hard til the end, gives me strength to remember it
Hi Carlee!
50 layers eva?? heading to the office?? lol
hey car.ee
Hi car!
already here, crossy!
Morning FM!
i am sorry jbv, what did he pass of? cancer?
hey fm :)
Crossy, I always feel "stuffy" when it is that warm in the house!
Lots of care going out to you JBV. I know that you and he had a wonderful relationship. He was lucky to have you, and I am sure you feel lucky to have had him.
indeed car,i keep it 68 in here
not exactly crossy, cancer was cured successfully in 2002, never returned, but many complications of subsequent surgeries (scarring) and from radiation, became unfixable eventually - I'm respecting my husband's wishes, he always said "I don't like people discussing my body parts!"
thoughts and prayers for you JBV
I like it around 65...however that doesn't mean I don't enjoy warm weather!
its 66 in my house...
kk np jbv
68 is where my thermostat is set. it is problematic as the homes here are not well built for cold.
thank you red, I have 33 wonderful years of great memories - and you can all change the subject now, I could go on and on, but we have other things to babble about :)
does anyone have as 5/14, not the word meaning to test
we usually keep the thermostat at 70 or a bit lower. havent even turned the heat on yet, though. house is staying mysteriously warm + when we do get a chill, we pop on the gas fireplace...
I keep mine at 69 or 70 and enjoy wearing my fuzzy slippers
We are now at my mom's, which is a drafty old New England farmhouse. I try to keep it at 65, but it does get so drafty, she tends to bump it up to around 70.
indeed jbv,we can talk about...mmmm...how a bout breakfast?
good topic, crossy -- i need to go get some!
TY vddd...I needed that one!
that's the only one i need
phantom: astutue
good idea crossy - I have some beautiful fresh fruit that someone sent me from Florida - taking a break now - see you all later, I love you all!
Hugs to JBV. I am having a bagel and egg sammich for breakfast.
* or astute for those who can spell correctly!
Bye JBV! Hugs to you!
i had english muffin and egg!
???
Trying to monkey it for you now....
i'm still in bed
i think i shall do western omelettes in butter, with valencia onions, diced green and red peppers and smoked ham then shave some 5 year old white cheddar on top with some fresh ground pepper and a dash of sea salt with some cruncy english muffins on the side
im going to crossys for breakfast!!

SORRY!
The only D i have is da 4/9
Im back with coffee, anyone? Have a great day Mom if you are still here. and hello to everyone who came in while I was in the kitchen.
that is the only d car.
hi there annie :)
Well then...there you go!
hi carlee
bobs ur uncle
ok babblers, i MAY be in need of an intervention -- i have seemed to become addicted to hot chocolate!!
hmm..the pa 5 in the grid...thinking that is dinner tonight :)
sorry carlee, just reading back...80cm now on the ground,20 more to come we are just under london for snow fall
and this is a problem how eva?
tasty as it may be, carlee, its NOT exactly the healthiest...
unless it doesnt count in the month of christmas? hehe
i was in london on sun cross... took the 1 hour to drive to london....( normal ) then took 1 1/2 hour to go about 5 miles in london to get where we were going
cold weather + hot chocolate = good
it does not count in the month of dec
in that case, does the banana-stuffed french toast, fried potatoes + sausage patty i also bought not count??
eva,i make this hot chocolate, what i do is use 755 milk,25% boiling water then when it is still steaming,i melt 3 square of kaluah filled chokkie into it that add a sot of reddi whip and put shaved 70% caocoa bar on top
freebies...they are all freebies in dec
75%
damn,damn typos
crossy, that sounds purely sinful.
( eva ..try using choc milk in lieu of milk in the egg mixture ( less fat anyway) and spreading nutella on the bread to hold the banana in place....it sounds way sweeter and richer then it actually is...sooo yum
crossy, why dont you open a Breakfast All Day restaurant?
good grief EvaN!
help with t next to the p pls
crossy shudders at nutella:((
hi FM
i could try those tricks at home... alas, this is pre-made and bought from the caf...
lol, cause i do not serve hot chokikie for breakfast
peri -- skirts worn by ballerinas.
u cant taste the hazelnut... and..if u ever watch restaurant makeover...the chick who is the chef..cameup with that version of french toast for a breakie entre

hi nef
biscotti does sound good today....actually ..hm...now type?...want a good coffee dunker

Nef, not as bad as it first appears
and make them HUGE
really long and decadent

vdddd, when you test a metal...as 5
never mind, just got it
i could use some coffee
but..what KIND of biscotti should i make????
cinnamon car
there are 2 as 5/14's. the one is easy, but the other was a pain
replace the first vowel with another one and you would have a written composition, vddd
not that one
I'm making up words and they seem to be real ones. But it's time for me to get to work; so see you all later. Happy Babbling! (And carleek, I'm partial to chocolate almond biscotti myself)
clue for the second as 5/14
biscotti. Almond alone. Or make red wine biscuits.

It wasn't it, anyway.

choc. biscotti is wonderful, too
so make them for yourself
which reminds me it is time for me to make my bourbon balls
this choc/peanut butter recipe I have has peanut butter and chopped peanuts in it
( jmc....one thing about me...i make a batch of something..cus i have a craving...and the rest...i never touch....once craving gone....they can sit there for a week..a month..and then are garbage unless someone else in the house likes them )
OK I have changed my icon.

i used to make allowance money when i was young by eating them on a daRE,but it is all full of good stuff anyways
okay stats for the U please
U + slang for Dads (br's clue)
my mother once put out a can of wolf brand chili for the maid to eat for lunch but since the maid was illiterate she thought it was dog food and was offended
ty annie that makes nbt and time for me to wander on
ok..that is me done

Molly - my gingerbread blondies didn't turn out very well
Molly - my gingerbread blondies didn't turn out very well
am glad, crossy
I am at a high elevation, so I think that has to do with it
now why did that come up twice? lol
Sorry to hear that TNana. What does the high elevation do to baking?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_alti tude_cooking
I think I should've added extra flour - they were rather flat
try boiling an egg, lol
fireworks
*Note to self. Stylus is not in the grid. Quit typing it.*
wtg Annie!
my eggs boil fine
and neither is saute, Molly...typed that about 5 times
~*~*~*~*~*~Annie!!~*~*~*~*~*
it's only some of my baking that seems affected
lol Annie
but it would've been hard to get anymore flour mixed in...it was pretty stiff as it was
not that high elevated then
anyone like a hint before I start paying some bills?
ly's
mm they say add extra salt to help boil things at altitude
not for me, thanks Annie. Have a great day and may paying the bills go easy and with lo4 of money to spare :)
I don't seem to have problems with boiling
I'm at about 4700 feet
your water boils at 181f
cannot figure out the ly/5's
mine at 212f
ly, double cons., vowel
I will never learn to do fahrenheit without help
that clue is for both ly 5/14
ty!
hi, I'm back - just changed my icon - can you see it? a letter from my 92-year-old aunt in Sicily
hi JBV, yes I see it, how wonderful!
JBV, am so so sorry to hear about your husband. *hugs*
thank you sprite
What a treasure that letter is JBV.
sprite, what a wonderful theme for today! A lo4 art.
I love writing and receiving letters
hi
It makes me sad that letter writing is becoming a lost art.
Today is 26 years that I smoked my last cigarette. A minor miracle.
it is, isn't it. I still write letters, even by hand sometimes. And I love to receive them as well.
hi herin
hi lady *hug*
yay for annie!
hello herin
Congratulations Annie.
JBV, Thanks and a hug for you today.
wow Annie, you are a hero.
Hello hugs
I will now officially make the news. I have a job starting next year
when I told my cousin that I had received a letter from his mother, he said that since she had a phone installed he hasn't seen her handwriting and he misses it, he also said once you hang up the phone, the connection is gone, but the letter is forever- today's theme is a reminder of the beauty of the personal touch -
ah are we allowed to say it aloud now? Wtg lady, I hope it will be all you hoped and worked for.
oh, great news, herin! tell us more....
my M-I-L writes beautifully, since my hands are numb all the time now my writing looks like chicken scratch
so true, JBV. I still have some letters from years... decades ago (! am getting old!) and when I reread them, they bring back memories and a tangible link to the persons who wrote them.
crossy, how come?
permanant nerve damage from chemo treatments in hands and feet
herin, congratulations!
but it was a good trade
crossy, I have nerve damage in my feet, not a fun thing.
yes, crossy, a good trade.
if it has kept you here with us all, it was, crossy. I have numb feet from something vague (poly neuropathology). It is a bother, and now my hands start too. But if I had to, I'd gladly make the same trade. It is great to have you here.
indeed,like pins and needles 24/7
Yes we can Sprite. IT seems my friend has not heard back. Ok starts next year as a legal Sec
yaa for herin!!!
do you have to travel or relocate herin - or is it where you are?
herin, I am proud of you.
I have to travel about 30 min that is about it
okay, I am off. bye dear babblers

Night
bye herin
there are 2 as 5's
1.as5/14 to analyse (esp. a metal... e.g. 99% as5 gold) 2.as5/14 If there are too many crazies, you might need to erect a few more as5...
thanks df!
I just discovered that my niece's name is in the grid
how nice, Boo. Syl?
my cousin tu 4/6 is in the grid too
her name is Alyssa
Hello kids!

Hi Eva
How is your rash, Eva?
a bit windblown, covered-in-ice-and-now-finally-dry, and I think I might have mild frostbite, but otherwise fine :o)
your phantom is close to a real word, Scrabbler

Same here, df. "Lake effect snow" began last Wed and will continue through the weekend. Actually is won't really stop til Lake Erie freezes over.
Hi Scrabs, how are you doing?

fw
hi and congrats MP!
nice easy grid today..no word over 6 letters! Thanks Dr. God I needed this time today!
ty dfm
easy? hmmm . . . 30 to go here :-)
congrats on fw, mpittore :-)
ok, flurry of words . . . down to 23
Sweet hubby has formally put in a request for my homemade chicken noodle soup! How can I deny my darling...so I'd better run...throws my good fortune around the grid and a few sparkly things and warm drinks for all...later and poofy! exit, stage left...gone!
later, mpitt :-)
yes, I'll have hot soup for everyone then...
have giant pot of homemade veggie chili -- waiting for guests to arrive for bday lunch for 2 friends :-)
wow that sounds deelish too!
...makes note to self...buy ingredients for chili this weekend when soup is gone.....
une, email some of that chili over here!
back -- was pouring water LOL
it's really good -- a TON of fresh veggies (and red wine!) plus there's an assortment of cheese and artisanal breads to go with :-)
i like veggies. :)
and especially CHEESE!
me too -- AND it's a perfect day for it -- BRRRRRR
cheese . . . mmmmmm
its definitely is. i layered creatively today!
saw you bragging earlier about your layering skills LOL
a skill i wish i didnt need!
:-D
hi Une, EvaN! :o)

une -- darling husband bought me a lovely bottle of framboise last night. :) only made it through one glass before settling into a nice nap on the couch. ;)
hi fish! :o)

and a very good evening to you dfmchfhf
ok, folks arrivng -- byeee *poof*
bye Une!
twas just silly dog barking at nothing
ok, while I'm waiting, guess what I picked up among food donations at Whole Foods this morning for soup kitchen
80 quarts of eggnog!!
also, big boxes of potatoes, grapes, chopped veggies
*Makes a mental note to take Eva out for a drink. Cheap date. : P *
eggnog is the work of Satan
o.0 that's a lot of eggnog...
heh, i am. depending what you feed me -- one glass of wine or beer and its nap-time. shots, though, and i can go all night. :)
fish, it's not my fave either, but the guests at the soup kitchen love it!
and it's a good source of protein
although my one and only experience of eggnog was when it had vodka in it.
<-- does not like eggnog either
fireworks!
no, although the result was explosive
best eggnog i ever had was mostly homemade whipped cream and bourbon! LOL
congrats, helena!
served in sterling goblets -- yum
congrats helena!
ok, they're finally here! byeee
mmmmm..... leftover quesadilla casserole... easy-peasy to make, and the leftovers are eveb yummier than the original!
hmm, I think I've forgotten to eat. Again. :o/
dfm -- i normally would have eaten an hour ago, but i also forgot -- not too hungry today, i guess!
<-- always forgets to eat... even if the food is on the stove or something...
i can go through most of the day without eating (and i usually do without drinking, which is VERY bad for me) but then, i tend to snack and pick all evening...
me too! Well, minus the snacking... sometimes I forget to eat when I'm at home too, have suddenly waken up in the middle of the night and realise that I hadn't eaten for two and a half days...
well, youre welcome to some of my leftovers. :)
thats not good for u guys not to eat!
shorty -- im eating! im even offering leftovers. :)
lol ok thats better :)
hi shorty! :o) hmm, yeah, then I should go eat shouldn't I?
what kind of leftovers?
quesadilla casserole :)
that sounds yummy eva
its SUPER yummy. all your favorite stuff from mexican food, whipped together in one dish. and the leftovers are even better than the first time around!
reheated mexican food is out of this world
well I've hit my wall....30 left and I'm gonna list
im at 25 left... still picking here + there, but if i actually wanna finish, i will probably hafta list it...
That's funny Eva. What you call Quesadilla Casserole, I call Mexican Pizza. It is very good.
well, mine really is in casserole form -- its kinda like a lasagne, but with tortillas...
we have mexican lasagna - sounds like that
Yep, mine is too. But the recipe is called Mexican Pizza. It's good. Thanks for reminding me of it, I haven't made it in a while.
2 left :)

last AS 5/14 for fireworks please
Hello all.
Is everyone keeping warm?
Jin I have one as 5 it is like a chemical test.
as5 - to analyse
hi red! :o)
as5 think of the sanctuary word
1.as5/14 to analyse (esp. metal, e.g. 99% as5 gold) 2.as5/14 you might need to construct them, if you have a lot of crazy people in town
hello red! im keeping warm today with the 50 layers of clothes ive got on. :)
Eva is the adult version of the kid in "A Christmas Story" who can't move his arms because his mother has him so overdressed for the snow. : P
hardly. im a layering master. totally mobile!
Thanks Jin, Smaa and Jess!
great job Eva. I went running and horribly overdressed, so was quite toasty and icky wet afterwards.
oh, well, thats entirely something different!
Now I feel as if it will never be warm again...but this is untrue.
Molly, As the icon policewoman, I wish to tell you that you have had the same icon for a while now...and WHile it is still the Holiday season...
*giggles*
well, it appears my sense of humor has fallen a little flat. thanks for the giggles EvaN!
*raises red's sense of humour a semitone*
*I* found it quite humorous. ;)
Hi dfmchfhf....
dfm, can you tell us how you came up with such a handle?
I think I should put it in my profile, everyone keeps asking! Third-grade project on cryptography, encrypted a word which by now I've forgotten, but the cyphertext has always been my handle since.
: P : P Don't you love how I was singled out for that Red? There are people here who have had the same icon for months. I have one up for a few days out of respect for the death of a community member, and someone jumps my sh*t. Go figure.
Good afternoon/morning/evening
Heya Mr. Bob
Hi/salut/hola Bob :o)
help -- what did i do? instead of a regular cursor, mine now has up and down arrows
une -- you probably clicked on the roller on your mouse
but it won't go back :(
Try clicking it again?
click again
i did and that usually fixes it
Is it only happening in your browser window, or everywhere?
but not this time
so, dfm, you have no idea what your word means??/ amazing.
Hello Une.
same in word doc
Not any more... and it was to demonstrate how short messages are so much harder to decrypt than long messages, so I basically have no hope of rediscovering the original word.
should i just reboot and see if it goes back to "normal"?
I am sure it means something good though.
ok, rebooting
Try restarting just your browser first
IS the U word in the left hand side a UN?
U@(2,2) up4/6
oh... been trying un's will find it nw.
ty dfmchff
ok, I must nap...the run was long.
just shorten my name to `dfm', makes me feel guilty sometimes when people have to type such an inconveniencing name <.<
have a nice nap! :o)
Une...Control Panel...Mouse...Pointers...that is where you go to change the appearance of your cursor.

I think it was viginere or digraph :o/ plugging "dfmchfhf" in to Decrypto doesn't give anything.
I think it was viginere or digraph :o/ plugging "dfmchfhf" in to Decrypto doesn't give anything.
no cant be viginere
that would make both f and c be i and f be e as well
no, I meant, the cypher type was viginere.
oooooh i don't know nothing about no cypher type
:-)
viginere is a lot like the German Enigma machine, changes the alphabet with every letter.
very cool
then you were a very sophisticated cypher tike
for the viginere, you need a keyword, dont you?
yep... and I don't know it, if you were asking.
i figured if you knew it, you would know the cipher :)
evening all - anyone got the ap - clue please
hi kazz! :o) ap5/16 in a fitting manner
thnx dfm

oh dear that sounds nasty, but I must admit I have never heard of it.
so sad sea
we are dealing, but it is trying like I said
I do hope there is a cure. My thoughts are with you.
there is a brand of skin cream in the grid today
no cure, its a terminal disease but controlable so they say...will try to keep him as comfy as possible...he is like my 3rd child so he will get good care and lots of tlc
skin cream?
oh, yes there is!
I am sorry to hear that ,but I am sure he will get all the loving care you can give him.

sad news. elizabeth edwards has died.
there is a long lag time today
oh, that is sad news
Will I need to google that or could you explain who she is, cos? :o\
oh dear, so sorry to hear about elizabeth edwards - I saw a story in the paper this morning that she had posted something of a farewell message
wife of John Edwards who ran for President in 2004??
the wife of former senator and vice presidential candidate johhn edwards.. she was a fierce fighter for children welfare
so sad - just this am I read she was gravely ill and doctors had given her a month or two at most.
who later found out he had an affair while she was dealing with cancer, etc. = awful
vice-president, of course, cos
john edwards was the VP candidate in 2004.. and ran for president in 2008
yeah they announced yesterday she had terminated treatments and doctors said she had weeks.. didnt expect it to be so soon. she was one classy lady
still need 2 words and I can't figure out what i am missing. I have been over and over it. i am missing an s and a t
She died?
yes today
yes, she was
use lickety boobear
Just heard about Elizabeth Edwards. How sad
how old are their children?
i met her once in the iowa caucuses. she was really kind.
they are mostly grown
i know she has 2 young kids and several older
I heard it hear first- it must just have happened. I'm sorry she had to go through what she went through, and so publicly.
her youngests were born in 1998 and 2000 according to wiki
they were a perfect couple until he turned into a creep
agreed JBV...they had the ideal marriage
they had lost a son tragically and the younger ones were born after that
too bad we don't have a separate election for First Lady - she probably would have won
wade died in 1996 I think
of the potential first ladies in the past few elections elizabeth was my favorite
fireworks
wtg!
we to have a female president.
I just read the online news- from 15 minutes ago- it's so weird- it's just in a moment that someone living becomes Past Tense...just like that.
yes i know what you mean
Good, because it's hard to explain rationally.
Is...was.
On another note, these days I am extremely cautious about wishing for a female president...how about a progressive female president?
Not to go all political.
I'd love to see barbara boxer or jan schakowsky as President
There you go. Again, pardon my partisan comment, but if there's ONE thing John McCain will go to hell for...
it's unleashing...
What's-her-name.
the whore of babylon you mean? :)
Yeah- her.
*giggle*
JMC! I missed it. How did your interview go?
Like letting a lethal virus out of the lab.
Whore of Babylon... I approve of that nickname. Evening all!
:)
it just came to me lol
my interview went well i think
In related news, I suggest taking a look at this if you want a laugh at WoB's expense. http://www.theawl.com/2010/12 /sarah-palin-the-tv-star-exposes-sarah -palin-the-fake-hunter
(Pause for public service announcement.)
but I was completely bummed when I looked at potential places to move to.
what did you interview for?
oh will the job involve a move, jmc?
I hope you get what you're wishing for. Sorry the housing situation is bleak.
Hello everyone! How y'all doing?
I just watched the video you posted - awful!!
That poor animal!
This may sound really sick, but for a moment, I think he morphed into Obama! At least in Sarah, eyes.
And I'm sorry- that was an utterly offensive comment on my part.... But I did think the whole (hunting) thing was sadistic. That free and noble animal...
lol it was funny though
That's the problem with offensive. It's often funny.
Yeah. That's why I enjoy Lisa Lampanelli
watch the link mside posted- you would see it too- something about the position of the antlers. Anyway, gotta go feed myself.
FW
yay, cos!!
Good evening Friends!
hi car and all my peeps
anyone have the last as5?
it's like multiple loonie bins, misspelled
thank u mick pd
ty!
uh, not misspelled :)
yw
I thought it was misspelled too, at first.
fireworks, yippee kiyiyay!
now im getting really annoyed with the two LY words
woo hooo mich!
YEAH!
Yay Mich!
The ly's are hard to finagle.
Ly's: one it like a girl's name, minus the initial A
lyass
haha
the other is just like it, but with different double constanants
that name is short for "lying ass"
:D
OK got em both, thanks mich
np - any other clues before I get to grading projects (what I *should* be doing this afternoon)?
no tanks mich... i am listing now, should be done soon, only 24 to go
well git along, lil monkey! Good luck!!
hi all just a quick look then back to baking
what are u baking, Barb?
I have made Christmas cakes, Butter Tarts,
Hello dolly bars on to the cookies now
not all today though trying to do one a day
what the hell are Hello Dolly bars
Barb, I have a question. Christmas is weeks away. Do you freeze the cookies you make this early?
Lil, Hello Dollys are a chocolate, nut, coconut combo. They are very good, but very rich.
it use to be a recipe on the side of a condense milk can...some people call them magic cookie bars...they have graham wafers, choc. Chips condensed milk , coconut, walnuts...they are very good but sweet
they sound good but leave off the coconut
Yes I freeze as I make or I have nothing left. Freezing also adds some moisture to the cakes.
if you do a google search they come up
my mom makes those without the coconut and without the nuts... but with butterscotch chips! yummy yummy! Hi all!
I have a small clan, so I bake a few different kinds of cookies/cookie bars on Christmas Eve.
I am putting some together in Packages for gifts for friends and family
i make Snickerdoodles
aww that's so sweet of you barb! I hope I can be like that when I settle down in a couple years. I would like to make little things for the people I care about.
never made those but they sound great
Snickerdoodles are cinnamon cookies
we have decided not to buy alot of gifts this year and so I am doing things that we make. My son decided to learn to knit. He is making scarfs...although it might be next year before we get them. But at least he is trying
hi everyone :o)
hi dfm
fwostbite is owwiefow. :o(
that's a great idea. Takes a little pressure off everyone's wallets and makes a lovely memorable gift.
hi dfm
hi dfm

slaughterfest? :o/
yes dfmch, Patriots over Jets 45-3
Brady was very hunble during his interviews but I honestly don't know how he kept a straight face
OK I must run now... have a good night everyone
uhh... okay.... *pretends to know what is being talked about*
bye lil! :o)
bye lil
night monkey
Patriots = Football team...Jets = Football team. Current events are easily accessible on the internet.
first as 5??
ok peeps: can you eat sweet potato skin? surveys says______
I vote purple!
of course you can, TO
but actually, I really have no idea. I just assume you can.
as5/14 to analyse (esp. metallurgy, e.g. 99% as5 gold)
LOL came right up in google
There are a ton of great recipes for sweet potato skins on the internet.
thanks dfm! I took a metallurgy course a couple years ago...
Was my vote for purple counted?
I'm not a murderer, chat was dead when I found it! Do:
hehe I don't know how to bring this sort of thing back to life
i could ask for a clue.... i'm trying really hard to get the ap5 and get imaginary fireworks.... anyone want to help?
came back to say i am going home
hi je
a good clue is ap5 said ballet
hi TO
... if you rotate your screen pi/2 radian, would those fireworks become real again?
bye jmc
did that get ap5 for you ballet?
and thanks jmc
whoo hoo ballet!
nope, for some reason i'm having trouble with the real words today.
bye all *poof*
bye jmc!
haha dfm, I don't think that's going to give me fireworks like $15 would.
someday I will upgrade... but money is tight right now, especially with having to buy all these christmas gifts.
aunt aunts
hi jilli!
*leads jilli to the PB*
has returned to pick up on those excellent clues...thanks Jilli and Hello.
hi red! :o)
hey red!
hello. I have 32 left but they are well concealed.
the grid isn't too bad today, red. Just plug away at it and i bet you'll get most of those in no time.
This was a quick grid for me...
its the 32 that are hard, but I dont care, I stopped caring about finishing a long time ago...my stats show it.
lol that's how i feel most days
if i'm under 50 left by the time i've hit my second wall, I try to finish. Otherwise I usually just leave it be. And if it's a super-hard grid, I just let it go.
20. I am often too lazy to finish- even if I only have a few left. It all depends if I want to do the Lickety thing or not.
got it! slippery little real words.... *lights imaginary fireworks*
yes, I feel no desire today to ponder over lickety...
hi Kap! :o)
congrats ballet!
hi kap!
thanks dfm
congrats Slippers.
Evening all.
thanks red
alright! finally dinnertime... the bf has made a lovely gardeny tomato soup topped with toast and cheese. I can't wait! I'll stop in tomorrow to say hi. Bye all and good luck in the grid!
bye ballet!
may i say that it goes, well lickety split with lockety split
please need help with last couple of words. as5/14 - the 2nd one and also with ly5/14 - also the 2nd one.
as5 reminds me of a place for crazy people, a lunatic as**um, but change the u to another vowel.
The ly is ly double vowel, then first letter.
it *is* for crazy people... just the (improper) plural...
double consoant, not vowel
thanks!!!!!
hi mgb, champ! :o)
hi kje! :o)
hi
sorry kje...it's been that kind of day! hi all...
hi dfm
Anymore clues anyone?

sorry to hear, stid...hoping it goes away SOON!

* giggle *
whooo hoooo PINI
I'm back into application season in the office...and it's gone totally online this round...and the number of bugs that have arisen are making me wish (somewhat) that it was all still paper!!! How sad is that?
thanks for the to 6!
thx lbd ;)
toasts
oops...
ahh, as tediuos as paper pushing can be, it doesn't crash at the most inopportune time.
* opens door to PB *
I believe you'll find some useful items in there... ;)
hands stid tray of truffles as she walks into PB
*puts tissues, hot tea and warm blankie in PB*
...and it doesn't have 'bugs' in it that still need resolution, lbd...
(the paper, that is)
i hate it when new programs are dropped into production without all the bugs worked out.
sorry about your tech woes pini
It's ok...I've been taking tons of notes to take to the 'debriefing' of this first round ;) hoping to get all of the glitches resolved before next year's season.
good for you pini
I was on the development committee; however, the chair neglected to address the actual use by applicants and reviewers...we simply started with 'what do we need to see' in order to have a viable candidate...
...talk about not thinking thru the whole thing!
ah, yes. that is an easy thing to do
...and, as the only 'processor' on the committee, I didn't get to provide as much input as I would have liked.
...but they're sure going to get an earful when this season is done!
wait, what is this we're talking about?
Graduate school admissions, dfm.
ah.
I'm sorta thankful I'm not repeating last year!!!
what does dfmchfhf mean?
don't forget my cool high five high five?
down to 18...
^5 good *wink*
we had 756 applications (approx 4,500-5,000 pieces of mail to open, match, and process)...
may I come out of the PB yet?
do friendly mothers care how far he falls?
...for 12 positions.
GE!
GE you're on a roll!
of course you can come out of the PB now, stid
rofl ge
and yes stid please come out
I should really really put that in my profile some time... It was a word (which I have by now forgotten) which I encrypted for a grade 3 project on cryptography.
and hi GE, wild! :o)
well i can't get any vowel words so i am teasing my favorite big brain.
hi dfm and everyone
hi wild!
hi hi
hey wild!
i klutzed yesterday, stiddy.
hi lbd, stid
encrypted...3rd grade...yikes
need a clue, GE??
you did LBD? *instantly feels better*
klutzed? How? :oO
major...fell off a ladder at work, missed the last two rungs, plopped on my overly padded behind! have very sore ribs and diaphragm, but otherwise okay.
oh no lb tg you're ok
that could've been so much worse
Do: doesn't sound fun at all
hi all, looks like a screwy grid today
how'd you guess gwen
hurts like he** to bend of stoop, but breathing is okay unless i try to sneeze, cough or burp
well just don't move or breathe and you'll be fine
holy cow, lbd! careful there!
screwy but not all that bad of a grid, gwen
owie, don't make me laugh, Wild!
oh no LBD! I thought you meant you put a wurd in the chog like I did earlier! *offers ice, heating pack, aspirin and teddy bear*
sowwy
hi Gwen :o)
* puppy pause * brb
bosses have been really nice about it all. no problems with me being a little slow getting stuff done, and they both agreed...no ladders for a while
um definitely no ladders
they didn't give you a break or a day off?
good. I don't like ladders anyway
no, dfm. it's peak retail, no rest of the wicked or the klutzy
the worst part is helping customers find books, especially those on the lower shelves.
you can still sell if you're injured or broken ... just can't sit down
no trip to the doctor's for a quick check-up?
nbt at last
sitting down isn't the problem it's getting down and then getting up that hurts...well not so much now, but yesterday was not fun
yea! gwen
probably wouldn't hurt .. just to make sure you haven't broken anything important
I know someone whose ex-roommate fell off a ladder and walked away without any issues... and he was found dead three days later, I think ruptured internal organ or something Do:
should be covered by workman's comp if they pay into it since it happened on the job
no, doctor would say "nothing to be done for ribs" ask a lot of questions like "can you feel your toes, are your arms or fingers numb..." charge me an arm and a leg. no internal bleeding, no bruising, except my pride.
LBD, what caused you to fall off the ladder?
the fall was maybe 2 feet at the most, not like falling off the top rung
good question, stid. Brain disengaged and i turned as if i was on the last rung! ..instead of on the second to last rung.
ah, I see. are you otherwise okay?
yeah, i'm much better today. just walking a bit cautiously and very careful in bending.
good. well, *wraps LBD in bubble wrap* promise if you feel woozy or faint or dizzy you will go get yourself checked out, okay?
gotta go, new Eureka is on! see you all tomorrow. thanks for listening to my Klutz story.
promise, Stid!
later LBD ((gentle hugs))
tc lbd
bye lbd!
**ponders how will i know if i'm dizzy or woozy, compared to how I always am?*** Poof
Don't fall o-- on second thought, let's not make you laugh.
down to 15 now. going to log off and concentrate on the movie we are watching.
back later *mini poof*
back :)

Hi dfm ! :-)
It's finals week at school so it's winding down this week and will be virtually dead next week...

no not that uno LOL
rah!! for Gwen
wtg gwen ;)
Congrats gwen! :o)
so, sorry for asking, but does anyone know why so many folks on facebook are currently using cartoon characters for their icons?
it was just a suggestion, for the fun of it... and it just took off like wildfire !
but where did the suggestion come from, does anyone know?
I think it's petering out, gwen...
i am reluctant to change my little dalek for any cartoon . . .
actually, there was a purpose behind it...I'll see if I can find it...
hi all
bdg, it was something to do with preventing child abuse I think
and it was supposed to end yesterday
yes, I believe that was it, nrkii
not me ... but I took part ! I like it better than the secretive ones, e.g. among women,... that can sometimes have a double meaning
I'm Daisy Mae.... ( chose a comic strip character, instead )
okay, thanks for the info, now off to find some food, POINK
hi nrkii :o)
bye gwen!
I always wanted to have long legs and blond hair... neither of which I ever got !!!!
hi nrkii :-) I still smile when I see your icon .!
thanks diane... she makes me smile too
I loved Nellie.... she was a great character in the series
hi all
I am Nellie - ;)
yeah, I was almost sad when she turned nice in her last season
but she managed to keep it interesting, even then
hi Tea N
hi Tea
I really like your icon too TeaN.... looks much like some of the German Porcelain pieces I have.... have a look at one of my pictures. I'm going to check the stamp on the bottom of mine.

Ps4/5!Here is a story of clues for today. It pa 4/7 to start babbling at work. Now I'm down to 1 word.I was st4/5ned at how easy the grid was today. I al4/4 did my story of clues at work so here it is.My Au 4/5 was the one who got me hooked on Babble. Actually, all of my au5/12 are hooked on Babble. I would so be lo 4/4 w/out Babble. Even on days when the grid drives me nu4/5 (and believe me, some do make me nu 5/16!), I still love doing it. I would never pa 4/5 up the chance to babble. Hubby wishes I could get pa 4/5 my babble addiction, but that won't happen. My husband st5/12 me with his hatred of Babble. My hubby thinks I spend a va4/7 amount of time babbling daily.Hope you were able fill in some sl 5/10 on Lickety's with this story of clues. When hubby ou5/12 me out of my seat,I will go eat some so 4/5 and then watch TV with my dog who la4/6 right next to me in my to6/24 warm bed. I love it when my dog ya 4/7 at other animals on TV. Until I get ou 4/5ed out of Babble, I'll st 4/6 in Babbleland to help give lo4/4 of clues should anyone as 4/8 for clues
Hopefully, this will help w/last 21 words TeanCrackers

Trolls are those who have nothing better to do than spoil the fun of others...if ignored, they tend to go away (especially with a little help from Dr. God when notified) :o)
It is the same no good loser who's been doing this for the past few weeks using different names. At first he was GameWrecker, then he was PoopStain&now he is BabbleBully. I notified Dr. God. Hopefully he'll respond.
i don't mind a little help but........
REFUSE to look at BabbleBully's words to get last word
damn
he's kind of a jerk, huh?
Is Dr G on his email 24/7? BabbleBully is already gone!
eaps
Sometimes I think he is, min! :)
(brb - puppy duty)
now i did it. oops
Off to the archives to look for a clue for my last word
I wonder how Dr. God removes the trolls from Babble.
I am done! I have fireworks! as5/14 was my last word
Congrats, Min!!!!!!
Just to clarify, I did NOT use BabbleBully's word list. I found this word from AnnieBrook's clue at 8:07 in the archives. Her clue was "when you test a metal". Then I put definition in to the reverse dictionary & it was the first word on list. Just so you know I didn't cheat
I think it'ld be as simple as DELETE FROM chat_log WHERE user_name = 'BabbleBully'; ;o)
Honestly, I've been on here for a while. A few months easy. Never posted. But I would never accuse the seemingly "regulars" cheat. Or anyone on here. It's for the love of the word!
Depends on your definition of 'cheat' ;o)
dmfchfhf- just cover the chat log and you will not be offended
back
welcome back pini! :o)
cheating implies having the answers
<-- is covering the chog so he can't greet you, bogster ;oP
thx dfm
Hello Pinikula! I got fireworks while you were absent.
congrats min :)
We ALL had answers when BabbleBully posted them.
I must goto bed,but I leave you with a story in profile
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
Dr. God did say that he'll be stepping up work on the new upgrade which will allow us to 'ignore' or 'mute' trolls :)
congrats minv, and good night!
(as a result of the recent troll invasion)
we can only wish
I have faith he'll be able to pull it off...*fingers crossed*
So, other than our little annoying visitor...how's everyone doing?
I re-discovered that fwostboite is owwiefow today
nice goin', dfm!
Are you going to survive?
It's just one little patch of skin... well, two. And well, if you define "the area on the back of my legs" to be "little".
You're taking proper care, yes???
On the bright side, it's only mild frostbite, nothing serious...
that's good!!!
Care? What is that? ;o) I don't know whether I want to wear pants or shorts tomorrow... shorts would expose them to the wind, pants would chafe away the skin and make it more painful :o(
Can you 'cover' them with something safe and then wear pants? I'd hate to find out it spreads or you got more!
don't have anything with which to cover them...
well, don't have anything less chafe-y.
No First Aid gauze or something like that?
I have my first-aid kit at home... and even then I don't think there'd be enough!
well, so long as the wind dies down though it should be fine...
oh my...what about, say a linen handkerchief?
my repertoire of items here is sadly insufficient for most emergencies :o(
Well, dear, you may need to step it up!!! :)
dfm how can a boy genius get frostbite!
hi crys! :o)
hi crys! :o)
oh, and I... uhh, totally meant to say that twice. uh huh.

I was thinking of listing my kids on ebay but apparently that is against the rules and possibly illegal
* snicker * probably ;)

2,5 and 10
egads! youngins! :)
they are driving me crazy!! I think that they are tired and in need of a break (school year ends next week and i think we all could do with some sleeping in and lazy days
you're in for a busy season!
(been there, done that)
I've been two, five, and ten before... does that count?
um, I'm not so sure about that, dfm...I was those ages once upon a time...
(along with everyone else around here) LOL
I have finished all my christmas shopping and most of the wrapping is done. Christmas eve we do dinner at mother in laws and xmas day we are staying home and having a bbq so we wont be too busy leading up to christmas (thankfully)
I still need to finish some gifts (either finding, assembling, or making)...and although students are finishing finals this week, I have 2 major ongoing projects that will keep me busy thru February (at least)...oy vey
we do have some assembling (if that is a word) to do. my youngest daughter needs her bike made up and the jolly fat man is bringing the kids a pool so that needs to be assembled after they go to bed. Thankfully its not too big and should be easy to put together.
You must be in Oz...
yes
* swimming pools don't go well with our holidays up here *
i will be back after the flip...my little one has woken fro her nap so i must go for now. Bye Pink Bye dfm happy babbling
take care, crystalle ;)
