Good news dfm...my grandson received a diagnosis he def. is not autistic or aspergers...he is an anxious child due to his mothers health while in the womb
Jilli....................
Flosey.................
wow, MPitt -- interesting!
hi MPitt
I was reading about that in Time a while ago
:o) that's [probably] good then
1st 4 letters of antiperspirant and common conjunction (used in this clue)...
Yes, she developed preclampsia that rapidly turned into something called HELP syndrome and we almost lost her and the baby
Her BP skyrocketed and they believe that it caused so much stress on the baby that he is now anxious...
sounds painfully familiar mpit, what's HELP syndrome?
ah, have been working from wrong d
ah, ty dee -- was starting with the wrong D
snap, flosey ;-)
oh.. I got the last one
tyty Dee
yw glad you found it!
now have one 7 letter word!
Had to google HELLP syndrome... doesn't sound fun :o(
I can't remember the specifics but one of them was she developed a huge blood blister on the liver and it took a year for that to go down...if it burst she would have died.
wtg
me too, flosey -- did you see the "snap"?
frightening, mpit, how did they discover it?
yes
She is fine now thank goodness...so we can deal with Dylan's (my grandson) anxiety through play therapy...such a relief to us all...the best christmas present I could have hoped for!
glad to hear it; how old is the little tacker now?
That's great, MPitt -- happy Christmas indeed!

that was a terrifying experience MPitt
I will be having flim-flam tomorrow
Yes it was...but then she got pregnant again (high risk pg) and they watched her like a hawk...it was twins....now Dylan is 3 and the twins are 18 mths.

yesterday, we couldn't even see the lake all day
Sounds lovely non the less ruby.
yes, it's very pretty here. Do you have googleEarth?
Think I have it somewhere but haven't used it for yonks.
it comes so close to here that you can practically see the dogs
we are definitely in a non-strategic area!
oh I will have to have a look.

Good morning/evening all.

good morning Diann, you are in the grid this morning!!!

same as us. sa x factor and we thought that Rebeccqa should have won
according to Saturday, I thought Rebecca. Still she will get on anyway
I wanted Rebecca to win but is was such a close thing.
I wanted her to win as well.
you are correct.
how was the celebrations
Haz, hows the weather with you this morning - you know I need my daily weather check.
Mind you, the whole thing could have done without people screeching from home towns and making pizza faces.

Bye for now ruby.
It's cold and frosty but bright.

Hi everyone. Please don't give cryptic clues when I haven't even looked at the grid, Haz!
Okay.
Well, not unless I can immediately guess them!
Morning Sally.
Got them, so Haz is forgiven :-). Hallo FM.
*Anxious* Hope I haven't driven Haz away.
She s probably busy hoovering with one hand and finishing the grid with the other :)
I follow the Quentin Crisp school of housework :-)
lol do expand on that.
Just checking the exact quote: There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse.
Excellent.
He was a very funny and witty writer but apparently lived in squalor.
Am trying to rememberthe name of the actor who played him ages ago, guess I will have to google. Can so see his face but the name is just not coming.
John Hurt
Heehee, just checking some of his quotes because I can't be ** to go and find the book. I like this one: "If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style."
Thank you Chessy!
Yes, John Hurt, of course.
I need to go out today - don't want to :(
Me neither, but those xmas gifts aren't going to buy themselves ...
I have to go out this afternoon. But is it that you are just comfortable and snug, FM, or is it somewhere you really don't want to go?
Im snug and warm and it looks horrid out there.
Just dull and grey here, but bad weather forecast to come back later this week.
I'm doing my xmas shopping on line Chessy.
and I am still hoping the cards will write themselves and magically get posted.
lol, and in my case print themselves as well.
Oh well, deep breath, and off I dive into the shops. I may be some time ...
All this talk is making me think I had better get my act together.
bye for now them FM.
Bye Chessy and Sally.
Just over half way - slow grid today - so will go and do some printing and feel virtuous and come back later. Bye to any lurkers.
I've just read the back-chog. My daughter always uses the Joan Rivers quote "I sweep the room with a glance" and the other one she likes is I don't dust because it just needs doing again in 6 months!!
I really could do with a clue for de7 otherwise I`ll never get to the shops.Could someone rescue me please?

me too - good morning everyone
Hello, River :-)
how is everyone on this wonderful monday morning (morning for me anyway)
tough little grid today
Nice and sunny although alittle bit nippy.
we have rainy and gloomy but warm 51F
i heard some parts of the USA had 24 inches of snow..YUK.
Me, I'm happy that it's snowing everywhere but here.
the midwest got hit hard
we had a dusting yesterday morning then turned to heavy rain
yes i saw it on the news, not nice at all.
I don't get how the Metrodome in Minnesota collapsed. They get snow like that all the time. Why wasn't that thing built to withstand it?
Good Morning All. It's minus 7 (F) here with a wind chill of 25 below right now. I don't leave for work for another 45 minutes; do you suppose it might warm up before I leave? ;-)
and now the cold is setting in out there so will make it difficult to clean up
LOL..love your sense of humor, NEF ;-)
morning Nef - yikes - dress warm
*Passing the long johns, warm out of the dryer to Nef*
Molly, the dome collapse because the blizzard made it too hazardous for the cleaners to be on the roof of it. We haven't got 24 inches of snow at once for over 20 years
Riverdance that word i said i keep trying..if you but another letter third from the end it becomes a word.
Now see, I thought that kind of snow was routine for y'all. I've learned my something new today.
Thank you Zoom. And Molly utters yet another "What the hell does that mean?"
we had 4 inches of snow a couple of weeks ago and the isle of wight ground to a halt..lol
Molly, I moves SOUTH for the warmed weather. NW and northern MN get stuff like this all the time. The Twin Cities don't get this stuff as much (we are 320 miles south of where I grew up in NW MN
yw Molly

we are lucky to live like 2 blocks from the grocery store. we moved in, literally on the first day of the first of 2 blizzards that shut down the DC area last year. a few places were open, and thankfully we could walk to them.
i am stocking for a week at a time now
car is always full of gas before i park it
2 pounds of bacon are always in da fridge and vodka supplies are liberal
I am close enough to a Giant and a Shoppers that I can get to them after the roads are plowed. I usually stock up in advance though.
rats, my "lickey add" stopped working
restart it aloy
clear all cookies and temp files
crossy -- last year (well, technically, earlier this year!) we wandered out in the thigh-high snow to explore our new community + discovered that, while everything else was closed (even the grocery store that day!), the beer store was open. and not only was it open, but they sold mine + dear husbands favorites! framboise for me, and maudite for him. we had to climb our way back through the snow with beer in hand to get home, but all the neighbors just decided that we were hardcore. ;)
oh.. ty crossy, will do

It only rained in CT. I would have felt very guilty if I had left hubby to shovel

You have a beard crossy?
i do indeed
we had a lot and were snowed in for a few days, but no big deal
aside from murderous thought
i aictually love being snowed in

I do too, but then there's the aftermath of getting snowed out
that depends, doren.....

Hi Judi and Scrab
I havent seen NB in ages - where has he been hiding
that didnt sound good Eva - is he unwell?
I was on one night in the middle of the night and JC came on and was asking certain people to go to MSN
Do you know anything about what happened to him, Eva?
i dont have MSN. :( i know he had been unwell...i dont know much of anything.
he was? I didn't know that
sorry to hear that - I do miss him - will pray for him as well
well, i gathered that much from other babblers...
I have MSN, but I assume they went into a private chate. Would never be able to find it.
I know M9 was one of the ones he asked to go to MSN messenger
but I haven't seen her on Babble and don't know her real name for Facebook
Yes, Mom. That has been established. But, no one is giving out any info.
does anyone have a clue for the de7 pls?

oh, i hate that, EvaN. Other than that, things are well?
Has something happened to NB?
I have finished my lunch, time to get back at it. ((Hugs)) to all of you and prayers for NB
Ouch. That happened to me with a tortilla chip once. Thought hubby was going to have to take me to the ER. Hurt like hell for an hour. Kept drinking water to soften it up.
for me? generally yes. in a bit of a mood today, im afraid. had a bad dream + woke up quite sad... cant seem to shake it off... trying to bury myself in the holiday season to lift my spirits...
bichon. no one really knows for sure...
Has it been a while?
yes. he hasnt been online in quite a while. i have sent a few emails with no response...
NB is alive, which is about all there is to say at the moment. There is hope for recovery, but long road yet.
I think of NB as a son.
Illness? Injury?
Spill it, DC.
I fear what I may hear, Seain.
a rare form of Malaria, he's in hospital
i must feed niece so we can run errands
bbl
Whoa!
Thank you for that information! Malaria! Of all things!
Wonder if he picked it up when he went to SK?
Oh God, that is awful. I will double up on prayers for NB.

she ate well :)
I am going to explore the BBC DVDs.
The cat, Seain?
the niece
she's 7 mos
Very often cheaper on Amazon than direct from BBC Scrabs.
Did you feed her? Babies are messy.
Or Netflix, Sally.
i fed her some, and she fed herself banana and pear
then we changed her clothes
Think that's probably US only Scrabs (just had quick look).
Babies + toddlers enjoy feeding themselves.
Haha, Seain.
Are you in charge dc?
yep :) she handles the spoon well
sally, i'm here and her mom is. I fed her while mom finished stuff, then shortly we'll go run errands
Lovely, dc, all the fun and none of the responsibility!
heh. indeed. i go home at night :)
Does anyone have a clue for the de7 plz?

hi all
Hi JM
glad to see the NB is solved. hope he feels better soon
Sailed on a river of crystal light, into a sea of dew. I love that poem.
i was always more partial to the owl and the pussy cat
I'm glad we found out what's going on with NB too. I like to pray specifically. Healing thoughts out to NB.
Same here jmc.
seems silly that it was a secret but maybe it was less a secret than we just didn't know the answer
What i shared earlier was shared before in here, and i felt yall had the right to know.
so DC I later decided i was too vague. I was inviting you to our open house on Weds from 2 to 5.
Molly has already snubbed me.
I'm so glad you shared dc, it isn't pruirient interest but concern. I for one was imaging such awful things. What has happened is obviously pretty serious for him, but not as bad as some of the things I for one had imagined!
:-P
how is NB
: P : P : P
Sorry about typos but multi-tasking here.
Seain, not sure where it was shared in here. We all seemed to be in the dark about NB until you told us what was going on. Unless I missed something. Which is entirely possible. Thanks for letting us know. I appreciate it.
i confessed i feared assault so i know what you mean sally
OK, I feared death, accident, assault or prison!
oh, thank you, JMC, still at St Margaret's?
If you read the chog posts between JC and M9, you totally would have thought it was something like accident, assault or worse.
I am really really sorry that his trip has ended up like this. It was not good anyway, from the little he said, so this is just really bad for him.
It was shared way back when he was first diagnosed, several weeks after he was back from Korea
so, been a while
yes dc, still there.
Well we were all in the dark dc, because of different times we all come in and out.
I for one am grateful to you. I was worried for him because he seems so young and vulnerable and I can imagine how I would feel if he were /my/ son.
Or (cough) grandson!
happily, he has a good support network, and good medical care.
OK folks, dinner is ready and I have fireworks so will love you and leave you all. (Hopefully we won't have to change our clothes after eating, dc.)
Congrats Sally!
congrats, and enjoy dinner, Sally lol
whooo hooo sally

Scrabs, have you seen the movie "Babies"
Nope, but I must. My friends have told me great things. However, in my career I have seen babies from multiple cultures--Southeast Asia, Africa, India, Pakistan and have learned about differences in raising kids--feeding, discipline, etc
The really great thing about the movie was that even thought the babies were raised under different circumstances, they all developed in the same way.
Yep--the nervous system myelinates and skills emerge.
I have taken care of blind babies, deaf babies...interesting too.
And I have cared for babies born to deaf parents.

the other one is a glucoside or a component of urine (I'm sure that will help, huh?)
A different clue, jessmom?
The beginning is short for Mr. Jones the archeologist the ending is the last part of actress Silverstone's name.
the 2.in7 is plural, if that helps.

Can you do Italian and Weight Watchers together?! seems like all thosde wonderful Italian dishes and pasta are at odds with one another!
Oh, no, lynxxx - italian is just for speaking, not eating! I have to really restrain myself, but on WW nothing is really verboten, just limited quantities
i dont understand the in 7 clues at all.
TY, JBV. I will try to write tonight.
the color needs a g. and i dont see it.

"an" exorcist...
I have just returned. Hello everyone. Champ I had a good race, not a PR, but...
Sorry about the PR, but congrats on a good race!!!
My PR was 12.01 m/m and this race was a 12.05 M/M with 2 years and all the injuries inbetween.
Well I say TAKE IT and dance a little jig! ;)
How do you feel?
I was actually one minute ahead of my desired pace and we got a 30 MPH gust headwind for the last two miles, I just could not fight that well enough.
I feel SORE. Trying to see how I will run tomorrow.
They had all sorts of first time race logistical issues, delayed start...for 30 min..
My people did a 30K yesterday, and it was in the 40's, winds gusting into the 20 mph zone. They were either with it or against it. I FROZE!
The wind is a real challenge, I discovered!!!
How is your foot.
BTW...there were 5 "seeing impaired" people running. They're tethered to another runner. One guy ran 30K in less than two hours, and he was partially blind!
My foot is fine. I'm ready as I'll be. Won't be a PR year.
that is so cool. We have had a few of those runners at one of the races. SO much rust, I would be afraid of tripping.
NO JOKE. Can't even imagine.
OK...don't want to hog the chat. Glad it went well!
trust, that is.
Oh no, I have dominated chat. Please come back babblers. We will talk words, not legs.
Been picking at this a lot today, and still 35 left. grrrr
37 for me, a tough one.
Hellooo Babblers, did we run you off? Come back. I have err, snicker doodles...and fudge.

and wine...I have wine!
I have 7 left.
Ooooh...so close!
I need to lose 5 pounds bychristmas.
oooh, Mixi, you are awesome!!!
why?
yes, why?
cause i've probably gained 5 pounds this year and my annual is just after Christmas.
time to reschedule that annual!!
but the Chat log fudge has no calories..
Ha! good idea!
oh yummie.
neither does the wine...you're all good!
my husband bout me a pound and a half of fudge lat month.
It had calories.
seriously? mine wouldn't do that. what is he, new?
;)
It was good. I ate it allllllll.
I really love fudge. I miss it.
It's ok. Much prefer FOOD.
we had our 10 year annivarsary in October.
Congratulations! That's a nice milestone, isn't it?
food is not my thing really, sadly.
Having a glass as we speak red
that anniversary is worth fudge!
yes. we went on a cruise to Alaska in May and a trip to San Diego in October.
PARTY!
super!
I'm blaming the weight gain on tennis.
?
muscle?
well, it can't be on the fudge!
I hope it muscle.
The first marathon I ever ran, I gained weight during training. Would run long runs, and come home and eat bad things. You can out-eat any workout, trust me!
you can. I am not gaining but I am certainly not losing.
yes, when I went from 1 time a month to three times a week, I ate more.
down to 32...whew. taking a break..
So...just make sure you aren't eating the wrong things. red, you punk! I'm still at 35. With ya on the break though...bbl!

Heyas kids ..
hope the driving is going well and you are having an enjoyable time!

*pops in* hi pini, kimm! :o) (and also hi to anyone else who is lurking)
hi dfm
dfm, help kimm hold down the fort while I take a 'puppy paws' (brb)
You're taking the paws off your dog? :oO
(potty break)
(as in 'pause')
yeah I know ;oP
hands Pini some TP
<-- is wavering between staying for the flip, or treating himself for possible food poisoning (which would involve forced regurgitation, not fun...)
ugh
what did you eat df?
hmm, I like "vacillating" more. I'm going to vacillate instead of waver.
well, I'm eating chicken right now, and apparently steaming it for 35 minutes still allows blood to explode out of it when I take a bite... and about 75% of the chicken is already in my stomach... don't know what to do...
Hi dfm, & ruru! How are you tonight?
Hmm.. I'd cook it longer than 35 minutes
(and I've cut the chicken into portions small enough to take ~30 minutes to cook thoroughly.)
fine kim.. you?
no. it's done. you don't want it to dry out!
I always cook chicken 40-45 minutes
never steamed it though.
that sounds kinda bland
I am fine. Tired. I went shopping with my 21 yr old daughter who was in a foul mood.
oh.. that's the xmas spirit..lol
30 is usually enough for steaming... especially if it's cut into small-sized chunks... :o(
I can't stand it when she gets like that. She truly thinks the world should revolve around her.
I don't remember behaving that way when I was her age.
it's the latest generation thing... I think some people are calling it the "me" generation?
yes! what happened? is it a parenting thing, or what?
could be a self absorbed kid?
It's all about what "I" want... better work hours, better representation, more freedom, &c. &c. ... I can't stand it (and I'm *part* of that generation!)
dfmchfhf --even if there's some blood, that alone won't cause food poisoning. Some people eat all meats raw. Perhaps it's the look of it that's upsetting your stomach?
It's society...
I was part of the free love generation.. we were muchhappier
Ah, the sixties
How old are you, dfm?
hello
hi mlf
Hi, MLF
hi ruru
hi kim
morning all
i guess 214 for next grid
I'm just really paranoid toward food poisoning -- most of the maladies I've had have been related to my digestive system.
I'm nineteen, kimm
and hi mlf, ish! :o)
dfm i am always leer of red meat
hi dfm
beef, mutton I am okay if I see raw... but chicken and pork, I don't like :o(
