hello hello :)
Hello Ata
My goodness. Hello!
I have a sore throat :( and Hobbit has a trim today
Hobbit and Spangle must have their trims almost synchronised. She was done last week. Sore throat the start of a cold?
I hope not! I've been feeling a bit grotty for a few days, but was awake half the night with sore throat today so have given in and am staying at home today
Now if we were not Br4/6s we'd start discussing all the tablets you could take.
absolutely!
I have tea, what more is needed!
This is tr4/5.
hi Haz, Ata! :o)
Hello, dmf.
hi dfm
Is this your first sick day off work?
yes!
What will the fishies do with you not there?
I think they'll manage. Hopefully. It's a silly time at work anyway, we've just moved from one building to another, so the computers are still being set up, stuff's being unpacked etc
You need to conserve your strength for when your husband gets it and takes to his bed for three weeks.
he's only just got better from 2 weeks of "flu"
Then his resistance might be low. I'd stockpile some Kleenex Balsam.
I might need to buy some more. ANd some Olbas tissues
Sainsbury's ran out of the man-sized ones. Very worrying.
no!
They only had the small size. I took it but made sure to get the real ones the next time I went.
pester
oh, excuse me. shaky hands.
You just can't have the same level of confidence in a tissue the size of a postage stamp.
absolutely not!
bet Tesco's would have had some :P
Possibly but I have my principles.
as you should
I suppose I could have bribed some urchin to go in and get them for me, but not many urchins around these days.
how very inconvenient! even in school holidays?
I wonder why we don't have urchins any more? Or have they just been renamed?
The children over here have had multiple days off because of snow. Wimpy teachers.
goood question. think they must have been renamed
The thing is, urchin conjures up the picture of a ragamuffin and they're all in sports gear and Nikes these days.
that's tr4 ... hmmm.
Maybe I should send it in as a question to QUestion Time to see if David Dimbleby can get the answer.
or The Times. These things are important
Would I sign myself 'Curious of Ballymena'?
And speaking of Ballymena, Liam was in town last week.
I didn't see him but he visited his old school which isn't far from my house. There are pictures in the local paper.
He was squeezed into a later part by pictures of snowmen and a fire engine outside a shop which had a bad smell on Saturday.
They thought it might be gas but the fire brigade later declared it to be 'a false alarm with good intent'.
good intent? that's a hoot!
goodness! Liam! and a bad smell!
hello haz. How about adding rum and suger to your tea, hot toddies help sore throata!
The bad smell definitely didn't come from Liam. You could tell looking at him that he'd be wearing something fragrant.
And his sister was with him, the one that gets her nails done at the same place as me. She wouldn't have let him out if he smelled bad.
no, I once sat next to him on a plane and he both didn't smell good and had VERY short inbred thumbs, inbreeding?
Don't be offensive, ruby.
sugar*
This is Liam Neeson not Liam Gallaher.
I'm sure you have elegant thumbs, haz!
I know which Liam. He had just finished making that film with Meryl Streep that finished up in Miami.
And anyway, what gives you the right to make such horrible remarks? He's from a highly respected family. Sorry, I'm very annoyed.
and he was rude to the flight attendanct!
tough
she'll be saying that George isn't handsome next!!
ok i have to say that george clooney is very unattractive. I am sorry but ugh
LOL
poor Haz
You're entitled to your opinion although I just happen to disagree.
I'm fuming.
But it's strangely warming.
vin diesl is very yummy
Maybe blind rage is the way to cope with sub-zero temperatures.
keeps you warm on a cold winter's day!
vin diesel is a grown-up urchin
Putting on more clothes might help as well.
that dude from the Dear John movie is yummmmmmmy
if we're on actors, Crystalle, I always loved Ewan McGregor. Maybe that's just me...
So, I'll do that and between blind rage, punching cushions and putting on 15 layers, I'll beat this cold. I'm off.
"yummy"? o.0
you're not babbling underclothed, are you??
oh that guy that plays hyde on the 70's show is ok too
bye dear!
and bruce willis in armegeddon and the die hard 1 2 &3 was hot hot hot!!!
Oh no, NOT Bruce Willis! Can't see it myself ;)
I had such a crush on bruce willis when i was in my teens
I had such a crush on bruce willis when i was in my teens
haha...I happen to think my boyfriend looks a lot like Ewan McGregor. I put him in one of those face-recognition sites to see what results he got...it says Grace Kelly...can't wait to make fun of that.
Hello all. I was happy to see another large grid - before I started it - how nasty!
hi lyn! :o)
hi Lyn! hi Stewy!
hi dfm , hi Ata
couln't you get Stew to dress up for a photo? :P
He would have been too scared of the hat! You should have seen him today and the mauve balloon moving slowly along the road - I laughed out loud for about 5 minutes. Great sook
not a - a - balloon!!
put it on him in his sleep!
shaking he was
silly boy!
though I have to say that Hobbit really dislikes plastic carrier bags blowing around. She barks most vociferously at them
How are your 2? used to you going off to work regularly?
BBS just eating
used to it, yes, impressed? no
yay half way
Hi all. Another large grid. Sigh. But I do hope Babble isn't broken today.
hi sally!
Ata! Haven't se4 you on here for a while.
got stuck on snow without internet for 5 days!
5 days without internet! Gasp. How did you survive?
with difficulty!
back. I'm sorry that I made Haz so angry. It's strange to be so offended by a third party. Ah wel.. Bad Ruby!
How is everybody else? I hope someone will still talk tome.
hi ruby!
I'm afraid I'm not impressed by stars; most of them can act because they've got nothing going on inside.
Hi ruby! Just come on so don't know anything about it. I don't often read back much in the chog.
I bought a boxload of fossdils at auction, hoping to get husband more interested.
That's a very sweeping generalisation ruby.
Avoid it, you'll hate me after. Nasty Nel!
we've been very lucky, haven't had the freezing temps of Paris and London and almost all of our 4 ft of snow is gone
You made me furious, ruby. It's nothing to do with him being a star, it's to do with you making daft remarks. It was a perfectly congenial conversation until you had to put in your little contribution. You do generalise a lot and you're horribly critical at times. I reached my limit with it today.
yesterday's grid wa fun, but impossible for me! I gave up soon after half; it takes me too long!
Just read back. No comment.
Haz, you ar overly sensitive. If we can't make fun of stars, who can? And he was exceedingly rude to a flight attendant, and there is not excuse for that! I don't care if he's a big star.
But I don't in general (g) like generalisations.
I am not overly sensitve. You made a nasty remark about him being inbred. That goes beyond joking remarks, surely?
he's not your relative, your friend, just a star. Bug deal!
I think ruby it was your comment about inbreeding and thumbs. I do find that a bit offensive without being party to the original conversation.
it was very specific! Bad smell and short thumbs.
how else do you get short thumbs
Bad smell is fair comment, ruby, but comments about personal appearance aren't.
I have very short little fingers, it's a genetic thing passed down through the female side of my mum;s family!
I'm sorry then, yust very interested in genetics as I have an inbvred dog who was badly affected by the process and an (self-admittedy) inbred housekeeper with very short thumbs. She and her husband are from the same village and had the same last name, but weeren't first cousins!
Waves white flag. Truce?
For me, yes!!!
Sorry to have offended you and the chog, haz!!
I give up. Now we're getting those dogs and the French brought into it. The heron will appear next and then the husband.
mea culpa
Sorry, ruby, but you talk drivel sometimes.
But ruby, just because you know one person who is inbred and has short thumbs is hardly a statistical analysis.
Hazx, you are now saying personal things about me! Let it go, will you? You're starting to be a bit weird
How's the snow Haz?
but read what ata said
I'm weird and over-sensitve? Interesting.
I thik Sally wasmost helpful about the herons -- we refer to her around here as Sally-pond-nets!
that is genetic, not inbred, big difference! :P Well, unless my mother isn't telling me something ...
ahah, I used the wrong word. Whoops!
I only used google ruby, no magic there. You could have done it.
and your mother and father weren't cousins....hahah
Anyway, does anyone know what happened to Babble yesterday?
it broke
A friend has arrived, I'll have to go.
I think they were over-ambitious or maybe too many people came on because of the holidays and it went awry for quite a while
Accurate but uninformative Ata!
Bye for now Haz.
ata: does Bella like snow. Of my 5 chows (over the years), two loved it and two hate it and I have to clear pathways for them
sorry :P that's the limit of my knowledge! But big grids always tend to screw with the site
it was really a fun grid, but very hard to even come close to finishing
actually, I don't know. will find out!
Rufus used tomake tunnels with his nose.
I got halfway but gave up in the end. Too much else to do and it's only Babble! It wasn't the size, just that you had to keep entering words so many times before they took!
awwwwwww
now that the snow is gone, it's mud mud mud
that's what kep happening, Sally, and the chog would repeat comments many times
Yes, that's why I gave up and left it.
It wasn't fun to do.
is there a way to see if you've already enterested a word without scrolling back through the whole thing?
entered* my typing is bad this AM
No but the message will tell you that you have already entered it.
so, in the end, it's just better to type it again?
No I usually concentrate on one starting letter at a time and have that section visible. When I start a grid though I just dash in words as I see them.
good discipline
wish I was that disciplined!
I reckon unbog should be a word
me too
draining a swamp, yes?
burs
sorry
I thought that has two rr's
or getting off the loo. or would that be debog?
Ata!!! nooooo
hahah
Sometimes I concentrate on an ending. for instance if I see ant (trying to find something not here today) I look to see what words could end like that, like cant, pant, etc.
:P
I try to do that with ing
see you later, lunchtime
*poof*
bye ruby
and I need to go and traumatise my dog
I mean, take her to the vet for her trim
lol, I did wonder Ata.
oh dear - and other unmentionables I suppose
only trim this time I think, and maybe something to do with bottoms .... *whispers*
I suppose you'll get the pathetic, "why are you letting this happen to me?" look.
Sily will be sitting on the window sill laughing at poor Hobbit having to go to 'the vets'
of course!
I will return ...
bye Ata.
bye for now - I'll still be here when you get back (at this rate)
brb
Taking a break too
Hi everyone!
Hi Brookie!
Hi Sally! How are you today?
Warm and snug. All food bought early for Christmas, so no need to go out again (not that we could at the moment).
Are you feeling brighter now?
Yes, much better. Thanks so much for asking. I just had to get some perspective on things.
Plenty more fish, as they say :-)
And this exact moment, I'm enjoying some "me" time before my little one wakes up!
Sometimes things happen when you aren't looking for them, too.
You're absolutely right, Sally!
Are they excited about Christmas?
Kind of. I was raised Jewish, so I don't have Christmas in my blood as much as other people. My older son will be spending Christmas with his dad. My younger son saw Santa the other day and started to cry.
Wait, I'm going back to what you wrote earlier. Is there a snowstorm where you are?
Oh, bless! Was he scared?
Extremely scared. Although he likes looking at Christmas trees and lights.
Quite heavy snow overnight, we are on a hill and above the snow line at the best of times. Yesterday my husband rushed out because more snow was forecast and the roads were passable, collected the turkey early from the farm, and anything else we might need. Only the two of us, but we needed milk and fresh veg.
Our lane has a hill and sharp bend so not a good lane in the snow and ice, though a local farmer has been up with the snow plough today.
Yikes. The good news is, if the power goes out, you have plenty of snow to keep the food fresh.
We have left the turkey outside! And we have a log burner so the house is cosy even if the power does go.
Sorry to hear you're somewhat snowed in. It sounds like you're having a brutal winter this season.
Really, it is not bad compared to some countries, but because it's so rare we are not equipped. We don't have a 4WD vehicle, and cars don't put snow tyres on here.
Not brutal, Brookie, it's fine. The airports have been dreadful though. People sleeping in the airport, forced to stand outside in the cold and some dreadful stories.
Yes, that does make the difference. The state I live in, Delaware, doesn't spend much money on clearing the roads, compared to other states. At least a lot of people have 4WDs (not me, however!)
We did think of a 4WD last time we changed the car, but they are expensive to run - and for most of the year, not necessary.
That's my thought. I do a ton of driving, so my little Nissan Sentra serves me well through most of the year.
Well, now at least you can look forward to and appreciate a lovely spring and summer next year!
It's cheaper to keep the freezer stocked :-) We have emergency milk, and some in the freezer, and I make all my own bread.
I like your self-sufficiency!
Beans on toast for Christmas!
It's the family time that counts, anyway. :-)
Gotta go now, Sally. It's been nice chatting with you, and continue to keep warm!
bye Brookie.
Good morning all.......is Babbled behaving better today?
Hi Flask. It seems to be.
thanx goodness Sally!
I gave up yesterday, it was such a pain.
Think I got about half way.
Well I finished it, but not till 2.330a.m. this morning!!!.....So not funny!
I was too tired, and I could have coped with either a large grid or a broken Babble, but not both at the same time :-( I don't often give up, but I thought, it's only a game (!) and walked away.
I managed to get back on about 2 hrs before the flip and all was fine
yes when I finished, it was working a treat!
Did Dr_G explain at all yesterday, do you know? I saw a comment that he had had to reboot the server, but it was still giving problems at that time.
Yes, I saw that too Sally!
any clues for on6 please??
Haven't done any O words yet, sorry.
thanks anyway Sally!
more burdens, flask
hello everyone
Hi Annie
I was in and out all day with the grid but I managed to finished.
Hi Sally!
thanx Chriss!
flask,0n6 is plural of on4/5
thanks, macadam
my pleasure.
morning all :)
Hello, All :-)
afternoon, zoozzoom :)
Hallo zooz
Thought i would get Babble done early today as yesterday was a nightmare..lol
I've done 70 so far, I don't think I'll finish today! :)
It would not accept words for hours yesterday, did manage to finish but i was rather tired.
I've got so many phantom words with this grid, heh.
I gave up zooz, I kept putting in words and then having to go back and put them in again. It just wasn't worth it, it was no longer enjoyable.
lol..a case close, Miametro.
It was a job yesterday but I manage to finish
*managed
Thankfully all is well so far. Fingers crossed.
Sorry, Miametro i meant to say a case of so close.
Hey Zooz....how you doin'??
Not bad thanks, Flask, Hope you are well :-)
Am ok thanx!
Have you finished all your christmas shopping then , Flask?
hi all
Hello, Jmc :-)
Mmmm...thinkso Zooz..you?
Hey jmc...
Yep all do4 thanks.
we've got snow falling here now.....
are you where they have already had a ton of snow flask?
Cold grey/gray day but no snow forecast.

Morning Babblers

Good morning, Norma :-)

We have had about 8 inches fall since 8 oclock this morning my garden looks as nice as everyone elses now lol
Sorry, Miametro , i do not have that one yet.
lol that always improves mine too!
LOL, Norma.
I use an electric wheelchair jmc....so I haven't been over the door in all that time either!
lol
Good one Norma....lolol
It is bad enough if you are mobile if you are not it must be a nightmare, are you getting cabin fever flask ??
goodness you must be going stir crazy flask!
whereabouts are you Norma?
About 15 mile from Birmingham ... Tamworth Staffs
ok...so we shouldn't really be getting your snow....lolol
lol
ritual
what we breathe + what happens to a balloon if you put too much breath into it.
mia which ai8 do you want there are two
mia which ai8 do you want there are two
oops, sorry
That clue is for ai 8/55
Not a word anyway.
Some might say IIve always been crazy......!!
Many thanks , Car :-)
oh, either, both. heh. whatever people have.

thanx car.ee
The other one is ai what you breathe and bu what you travel on and pluralise it
thanks car :)
thanks norma :)
oh zooz you got my hopes up! lol
sorry about that..i used to use expert, but since new computer i have not.
lol no problem!
Thanks for the other Ai8, Norma :-)
Your very welcome
TY!
name that proper noun! sea witch OR phoebe's twin
ursula
ding ding ding
!
sorry i stepped away from the computer
hi hursh
no apologies necessary
I am no good at that :-(
twould be unreasonable to expect all of us to stay at our computers all the time :)
sometimes i am lol!
lol
well zooz, if you aren't good at name that proper noun, we can always play the enable game
in the enable game, you just spell things in whatever crazy ways occur to you.
stats for the far right E please
using things that appear in the grid, of course. i might say, "i have some nues".
isn`t that called monkeying..lol
er5/10
but you put them in sentences, zooz
hmmm sounds like playing babble
thats the one i need for NBT, Jmc
ty hursh *looking*
thanks, Hurshy, NBT.
:-( still looking (but no clues yet!)
I don't get why that er5 is a word, but the singular is not.
well it might be pl of something ending in -is.
thesis, theses, synopsis, synopses, emphasis, emphases
actually that isn't it because the -is version would not go if it appeared in that grid. so it must just be a random word that isn't a plural or something.
ty hursh for pulling teeth for me!
nbt
just call me the babble dentist
lol
lol
mornin babblers!
green, green for evanadine
Hello, Eva :-)
Splurshy, gurshy for our Hurshy. : P

Hello, Cwestexan & Boo :-)

just lurking here
Hi Annie and all
nor tired of eyes
I got more than half done but didn't finish. I started too late
or even Babble hiccups..lol
too frustrating for me
Hi bichon and all
hi annie
hi jmc
hi bichon
not too mention i was already half asleep for staying up to watch the eclipse
I started yesterday's grid right before dinner, so I never got even half way
Did you get a good view JMC?
jmc, did you see the eclipse?
I love seeing E
i think i got nbt yesterday and was happy to get it
Eclipse*
yes it was a clear night and since i live in DC the buildings didn't block it
It must have been a thrill to see it..
my boy said that people were standing in the street downtown looking at it.
I didn't see it
no one else on my block was outside but me
its was interesting--hard to maintain a thrill for 3 hours
Thats a shame, they do not happen that often.
next one is in 2014
Not sure the next time the UK has one.
I've read that the best way to watch an eclipse or the meteor showers is in a lounge chair. That way you don't strain your neck.
there is a chart in wiki but i can't understand it
sounds good to me, Molly :-)
that is a good idea but the moon was in a good location to look at it sitting on my front porch
Wow, sounds beautiful JMC.
i brought out a pillow so my butt didn't freeze on the concrete
clue for the first ab 6
then after a half hour came in and watched from the window while babbling
i have an ab6 some-one you is very nasty
ab + J**** Roberts, the actress.
who not you..lol
ty
lol
another ab6 is the same just dif last letter.
thats the only ab6s i have so do not know if any of those are the first.
Time for a cup of tea.

Take care, Jmc :-)
I love these big grids.

hi there NB, so nice to see you here
morning all
hi Peri
thanks. well, hospital gets pretty dull.
how are you feeling, NB?
Hello, NB!!
Back. Hi NB! Are you still in hospital? Poor you :-(
Hello, Peri :-)
oh, you know. been better but been worse! thanks for asking.
but let's talk about something more cheerful.
what the weather..LOl
why are you in the hospital NB? Ihaven't been around much lately.
*eyes open, jaw drops* JESSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
I once spent Christmas, my Birthday and New Year's Eve all in hospital! It wasn't all bad :-)
LOL Zooz. Of course.
Eva! Hello you!! :)
Hi NB!!!! Hope you are feeling better. I've been thinking good thoughts and sending them your way.
{{{{welcome back hugs for NB}}}}}} missed you!
hi everybody
help with en8 pls
but I don't really wanna talk about it, if that's okay. I kind of didn't really want the news to get out. Seems it did anyway..
oh, how ive missed you! and worried! so happy to see you today. its a wonderful christmas gift. :)
NB, what is that flag you have there?
Oops sorry, hope you are on the mend.
out with the old, I say, let's talk about the new - I'm with you, NB
JBV -- thats the english flag. :)
Good morning, all.
the English flag? red and white?
Nancy boy, we are all so glad to see you back, and your old self again, even if a bit battered and sore.....welcome back!
NB, welcome back and I hope you missed Babble
and you were sorely missed!
I'm sorry, Eva :) nothing to worry about now, touch wood!
yup. the one you are thinking of is the flag of great britain.
Sorry, Peri, do not have that one yet.
Need the top row e and last e in 2nd row for NBT - any hints?
English as opposed to British
oh my, I learned something new very late in life - thanks, Eva!
Sure, JBV! It's the English flag as opposed to the UK flag. St George's cross, I think?
Correct, NB.
I'm sure I knew that, forgot it, and just learned it again - senior moment, sorry
glad to hear, love. you cant blame people for wondering/worrying -- when you disappear from here for a while, after being a regular fixture, people start worrying, even if theres no reason. glad you are on the mend. and enough of that talk -- how is frank? ;)
okay - got the top one
E in last column, er 4/4, meaning periods of time
anyone have a hint for the 2nd e in the 2nd row?
er 5 - rhymes with ladies' handbags
er5/10 Trentsnana
I have that word - it is the first e in the 2nd row
Frank is Frank - perfect as always ;) and the BEST news - whilst I was here, Frank found out that, through various dramas, Leo can't keep Lola anymore. So guess whose flat she is in RIGHT now...:) :) :)
It's what I said trent
that is great news, NB
trying to think of all that has happened since NB was out for a bit....let's see, eva got married, JBV lost her husband, which was awful and terrible and wicked sad, and anything else major?
oh YAY! what happy news! thats a lovely holiday gift for you. :)
London airport closed for the holidays :)
That sounds good. Is Lola a Cat?
well, I already have that word and it took it from 1st e in 2nd row
bbl
I lost my bichon :-9
oh, so sorry to hear that bichon
:-(
oh no, bichon!!!!
So it is, trent, sorry. Hang on while I look, I have all those words.
thnx!
Oh, JBV. I'm sure you don't want to dwell on that - as you say, onwards and upwards. But, my sincere condolences :(
and, and mr hate came out of the closet, I suppose we should throw that in....
ER5/10 is from the far-right E. i just got it myself.
Oh yes, must be es 4/4, which is like a plural of the letter.
es4
While it was very sad, he's finally at peace after giving us 16 1/2 years of glorious joy
sigh, no that must be top row.
whoa, what trif?? i missed that news!
thank you NB - yes we are moving forward as we must
sorry, Sally..lol
wow, 16 1/2 years is a long time for a dog!!!
and Trif, you will too, although I don't know how to begin to imagine what you're going through
NB....I respect that you do not want to talk about what you have been through. But you have to know that all of us, even those like me, who are not chatting on a regular basis, missed you greatly. You also had our prayers You are everyone's baby and we can't help but worry about you. I'm glad to see you back.
Yes, but Bichons generally live long lives
yes, isn't that lovely, eva? He told the kids at their weekly dinner and then sent them home to tell me. gross
How sad, Bichon :( it is always horrible to say goodbye to animals - such a huge part of our lives.
i agree, Trif, that is a long time.
sorry to hear that, bichon
oh that makes it worse, Trif, I agree with you - how old are your kids?
Wow, Smdnjv. Thanks so much for that - how sweet of you to say :)
17, 14 and 11
oh dear
well, i guess its good that he told the kids... but probably not in that way. and to send them home to you to share the news? what a guy.
nancy boy?
Trif, he's really a class act
The reason we were so particularly worried, NB, wasn't idle curiosity. There was a hint given that something dreadful had happened, but it was taken off the chog. It was well meaning but led to all sorts of wild speculation. Just a note in the chog that you were OK, in hospital would have been enough. Anyway, we are so glad to see you back.
let's share some good news: I went back to my school district yesterday to have a farewell lunch for a colleague who's retiring and walked right into a Christmas concert with Kindergarten and first graders singing Christmas carols! beautiful!
Anyway, at least in hospital you don't have to battle with the weather and the transport!
Oh lovely JBV.
and the third and fourth graders acted out the 12 days of Christmas - four calling birds - on CELL PHONES! adorable
Did you jooin in, JBV :-)
JBV, that's so cute!
lol
no we let the children take the spotlight
that does sound adorable!
and since it's a Spanish-speaking community, you have to imagine Deck the Halls played with maracas and bongos
well, I certainly didn't mean to worry anyone. I'd better go now anyway - later!
bye, NB, take care
For the fist time ever, i had a couple of christmas carol singers knock on my door, and boy could they sing..it was beautiful.
only if you PROMISE to come back to us soon! we all do adore you so
Take care, NB :-)
bye NB, get better soon.
that does sound wonderful, zooz, and very cheering!
Merry Christmas NB. It was great to hear from you.
It was, Trif, made a change from people just doing it to get some money..and not really caring about how they sound..lol
(((hugs))) and ***kisses*** NB. dont be a stranger. :)
more good news? My daughter got married 2 weeks ago.
wonderful, Michnick, Mazel Tov!
oh! something fun! I just got an email from mr. hate's brother.....he forwarded to me an email mr hate sent him, in which he gripes because I never apologized to him for all the things I did to cause our marriage to fail. Um....excuse me? YOU ARE GAY. please explain to me what I could have done to save our marriage, then?
congrats michnick! wonderful news!
Thanks, it was beautiful and they are such a cute couple.
YaY, Congrats to them both, Michnick!
young love, nothing like it :)
How selfish of you, Trif, you at least could of got a sex change.
Trif, file that in the circular file and also wonder why the brother would send it to you....
Good morning all. NB, how are you? I've missed you + have been praying for you.
That was a joke by the way :-)
Hi Scrabbler, I think you missed NB
Hello, Scrabs.
I take it the brother is on your side :-)
I don't think so, Sally - I think it was mean to forward that email
agree
Oh gosh i hope i did not offend, Trif, i was just making light hearted banter.
yes, he is.
hi all - fewer words today, I should be more successful! :-D
he sent it to me precisely for that reason. he feels that mr hate is being ridiculous, and has told him so
So NB is doing well?
I didn't read it as mean, just a "look what he's saying" email. Knowledge is power :-)
hmmm. not sure helena! judging from your profile photo is will take you forever to type, being as you only have the three fingers, and all...LOL
Mr Hate has issues, major issues, and rather than being accountable for his words + actions he is lashing out at you.
I guess so
and am frozen!
LOL
.
Where do you live, Helena?
Chicago
it's not bad now, actually
Sandy,expand on that idea.
I agree scrabbler, he is. A lot of this is because he is FREAKING out because I asked him to pay for my legal bill, now that we know there was NOTHING I could have done to save us. When he said no, I went to his family and asked them to either help convince him, or take some money out of the family estate to pay it.
it was ballsy, but why should I pay it?
You did the right thing, Trif. Just stay calm, controlled, detached and that gives you more power.
He really doesn't have a leg to stand on if he tries to blame you for the marriage ending. And no court would think well of someone who gave the children the news to bring back to you.
The kids have a law guardian, right?
the size of his reaction is totally disproportionate to the size of his response. even if they never give me a dine, they see him clearly now.
I am not sure, scrabbler. we are divorced and it's almost final, so we aren't really in the court system anymore
I see. How are the kids handling all of this. It's a huge adjustment in how they perceive their dad, you and the marriage.
sorry, that should have said the size of my question, not the size of his response
the kids seem okay with the general concept of their dad being gay, because I have raised them from the cot to understand that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay. Because their isnt. But we did have a rather royal sized battle last week.
mr hate assumed that since the kids now know, it would be fine for him and roomie to share a bedroom. I thought it would take some time for the kids to adjust, and luckily their counselors agreed and supported me, as mr hate would have nothing to do with that idea, and accused me of trying to control what goes on in his house
I feel for you, Trif. I went through all of that about 30 years ago.
Now I am happily married to a wonderful man.

Trif, there was a very well-known similar case in NJ a few years ago when Gov. McGreevey left his wife and young daughter - and had the same custody issues about sleeping over, even how they decorated their apartment - etc. - I never knew anyone who experienced it personally, I am wishing the best for you and your kids
Oh, good morning and whoops.
Nice way for me to start out!
it has been an adjustment for all of us. apparently this has been going on for some time, since shortly after we were seperated and whilst we were still in counseling. two years, anyway. and all that time he let me think i had failed as a wife, that I just wasnt good enough for him. and the whole time -- the WHOLE TIME -- he was gay. shame on him!
good morning from rainy southern california
[[[speechless]]]
It's a tough situation, but you and the kids will get through it.
hi nan hope it dries up there soon
OK to be gay. Not OK to be an asshole.
jbv, as far as I am concerned, the kids and I are going to be fine, because I live in the truth and I have modelled and taught the same to me children. I live my life so I never have to lie. ever. and they see that.
Sorry about my language- I know some of you don't like it.
My son (his son, too) is also gay.
TY for free clues, Kaplan.
LOL, Kaplan, well said
well, i guess look on the flip-side. at least now you know, unequivocally, that you are not a failure as a wife. you did everything you could do, but it the end, it just wasnt going to be possible for you to make him happy. sure, he dragged things out and made everyone miserable, but at least you didnt fail.
It was hard to get the double-whammy, but everything is good onw.
But stupidity is sometimes the worst crime.
thanks you trents nana.
It's hard, though, because you still feel like you failed, even though you couldn't compete - you don't have the right equipment.
It's hard, though, because you still feel like you failed, even though you couldn't compete - you don't have the right equipment.
I have to go- a little groggy this AM. Methinks took too much cough medicine during the night.
Oops - didn't mean to print it twice.
hello all
bye kap
feel better, Kaplan and bye
hi Aloy
Gotta run for now. Hang in there, Trif. I feel for you, believe me!
Gotta run for now. Hang in there, Trif. I feel for you, believe me!
I have to get going too - wishing you all a happy grid and good luck with the slings and arrows
Do not operate heavy machinery, Kaplan.
Bye JBV! I still haven't e-mail you. But I will!
hi Annie.. bye Kap and trent and JBV
Bye tn
evanadine, I could not agree more! I do feel different, now that I know. I wrote about it in my blog, if you would ever care to look at it, it's at http://trifioso.blogspot.com/
scrab - that was funny
ok scrabs, I'm here
most of it will probably bore you to tears, but the entry I wrote about being different now that I know about mr. hate is one I am proud of
Hahaha, kje, I had to say it.
I understand
Trif, You are wonderful! I must leave now. Bye
bye, Annie
bye anie
Bye Annie
bye annie
and hello halfway!
guess a lot of Babblers have "respect" as a phantom today
Hello Professor Merganser!
I do now, Aloy.
Quack.. lol, hi Scrabbs.. how's your xc snow?
I had a great weekend--Fri, Sat, Sun. I could go out alone today but I am a bit uncomfortable being on the trail alone or with very few strangers.
Trif, that is an amazing bit of "self-therapy" you wrote in your blog. And you are right, we should always listen to our "best self".
I think I shall snowshoe around the pond, near the road and in view of homes.
Good morning all
nice, Scrabbs... xc is a wonderful way to enjoy the snow! ... hello Mr Bob
you snowshow too? I never got the "hang" of it, just used them to get from the house to the barn when I had to
snowshoe, lol.. need more coffee
Hi Bob
thank you molly
Yes, I love snowshoeing and use trekking poles--it's just like hiking.
I am in the midst of reading your blog, e-mail and being here, Trif. I will spend more time on your blog later.
dont worry scrabbler, its not a big deal
me too Trif..
Trif, it is wonderful that you can vent there. Do your kids know about the blog?
no. they don't. do you think I should tell them?
phone call
oh, it's official! I have the smartest puppy on earth! he just ASKED to go out, went out, got busy, and then ASKED to come back in, all on his own!
first ab 6, please
Lovely, Trif!
ab + J**** Roberts, the actress and plural
ty molly
not bad for being with us for just over a week, and only nine weeks old!!!
... back in time to get Molly's great clue, ty Molly
what does volition mean?
Your welcome all. It's a strange word. Reminds me of Spanish for grandma.
will .. of your own volition
If you do something of your own volition, it means you are doing it because you want to, without influence of others.
Free will
hi Haz
medical word - similar to apathy
so if you have the ab6, you have lost the ability to control you own will? interesting
Hello everyone.
but can also mean you gave your will to someoe else (they are in charge)
ooh, have to ponder that
but first, some more coffee.. brb
could it be us4 to describe someone under hypnosis then?
Hi haz
I have abulia at times... kinda like right now when I am still in bed
Hello, Scrabbler.
oooh, perhaps then I have it too, kje!
technically it is a psych term
technically you have it in the PB, missy!
for what
for writing the word out, in full, in your post!
here you go,here is a very heartwarming Christmas read for those of you with e-readers at a very reasonable price;) http://ebookstore.sony.com/ebook/kevin -alan-milne/the-paper-bag-christmas/_/ R-400000000000000096940
au 6.24, please
good morning crossy!
hi crossy
those of you with kindles..once again,i am sorry lol
howdy trif;))
ah yes... I was sitting here trying to figure out which word.... duh
Hi Crossy
howdy cybernan
scwabby!!
au6/24 - to rhyme with the grave sounding ce6/24
your bunnies got their green christmas vests on scrabby?
I have today off as I was assigned to work and be on call Xmas Eve.
ty haz
for 2
I wish I could put vests and elf hats on them and get photos, but they would never cooperate.
You're welcome, kje.
lol
don't think I have the ce yet either, but looking
Grave sounding not in the deadly sense, more in the not funny sense.
Those 3 S's are placed just right so that we need to add an S to most words.
wow, access to the site and about 25% less words to find. Good afternoon all :)
hi Sprite
Good afternoon, sprite.
almost exactly 25% less - hello spritey
howdy sprite..was interrupted so often yesterday i just gave up on that monster
nice company :) How are you all doing?
found a ce 6.24, but that's not it!
I am not seeing words as well in this grid, at least so far.
centure
It's a trickier grid, I think.
oops
it _was_ bad, crossy. I managed to finish it, but only very late at night.
caught me playing with da monkeys...
hi sprite!
Bacillus ce6 causes food poisoning often from under reheated fried rice
ce6/24 - ce plus a reworking of a word meaning to be certain.
.. and crossy!
Hello, friends. The rest of you too. Merry Christmas
or grains i general... but had several outbreaks from fried rice in day care centers
I stayed up til just before the flip and Ruru, Pink, m9, kje and a few others were finishing up.
howdy aloy:))
Merry Christmas, BabbleRabble (-:
Hello, BabbleRabble. Merry Christmas to you.
hiya Aloy :) Terra sends a snowy hi!
BR, how are you? (((BR))) I have missed you and think of you often.
nnnnnnnnnnnnnn - use as needed in my posts
that is the one I found haz, but the rhyming au 6 wasn't accepted
Merry Christmas BR
howdy br
hugs to Terra!
It has the same ending, cybernan, perhaps I was overstating the rhyming bit.
rearrange last 4 cyber
hi BabbleRabble. All the best to you for Xmas and all other days.
one thing i am happy to see in here is "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!" all the magazines, the govt officials, anyone from town council all seem bent on making christmas generic as in "happy hollidays" or a "festival tree" it bugs the crap out of me:/
is this for the au 6/30 or the 6/24?
It's one of those words that when you find it then you understand the clue.
Merry Christmas crossy and everyone
happy Xmas and a hoppy Easter, crossy ;)
ah -- got it
hi River, you too
Hi RD
hi River!, same to you
merry chrsitmas riverdance:)))
au6/24 was what I thought you asked for. au6/30 is au plus a shortenend underwater ship with a vowel ending.
hi riverdance
Merry Christmas fellow babblers!
Hi Blueheron
wow how did you find that one, Haz!
and you too, blueheron
ty haz - weird one
i will respect your budda, your shinto, your haunnuka, whatever, just dont call my tree a festival tree;)
hi scrabbs, how are the bunnies?
Whisper it softly but I used Morewords.
merry christmas blueheron
ooh, never would have found that, tyvm Haz
It's free, it's easy to access and I get a little commission...
hello, blueheron
(((Crossy)))
ty haz -- I didn't have either -- my head isn't in gear yet (not really sure it ever gets there)
:)))
The bunnies are adorable--they always make me smile. I managed to catch the downstairs' bunny, Miss Beatrix Potter, this morning, and cuddled her up. She is like a stuffed animal.
it is a tropical fruit tree, in case anyone wondered
grin, Haz, I use a2z sometimes. No shame in that - it is what they are there for, right.
You're welcome, cybernan.
are they box trained, scrab
mmm...chrsitmas rabbits....
I would love to have house bunnies.
that was an open goal for crossy, Scrab,s lol
Absolutely, sprite. I have zero patience for monkeying, I use help instead.
and easy to stuff just add the herbs and spices to their salad;))
I don't mind monkeying but sometimes I just run out of options. Blank babble brain moments.
opps..sorry i slipped there for a moment
Crossy!!!!
my bad
Yep, my bunnies have always been box-trained.
how did you train them?
badddd crossy... but it WAS rather hard to resist, that one ;)
Do they sleep with you?
it was
Crossy always likes to jab me with threats of eating my bunnies.
must run - bbl
*hugs crossy with an evil smile*
: ) Merry Christmas Cross : )
bye kje!
hey,i have been good of late
I just found an 8-letter all by myself! wee!
au 7, please?
They are easy to train--place litter box (or tin plate when they are tiny babies) in their cage and they naturally go in the same place.
bye, kje..
You're always fun to have around!
Bye kje
you know it, crossy: 'When I am good, I am very, very good. When I am bad, I am even better.'
yaa for helen!!
hi Helena, good job!
au7 -- stiff, severe
indeed;))
Good morning, afternoon, Babblers :) Merry Christmas!
A clue, helena?
hi Nanette, you too!
Hi nanette
hi Nono, good to see you
au7 - the sort of Christmas Tiny Tim envisaged before Scrooge was transformed.
Merry Merry Nono
it's the NE word - it means to be neither pro nor con.
(silly question, but how come we already have all the Xmas wishes? It is only 22 dec here... Do you guys start earlier?)
thanks again, haz
You're welcome, cybernan.
ty for the au haz
You're welcome, crosshair.
Back from feeding chickens. brrrr! Hi sprite and crossy and everyone!
wondering the same sprite
tis the season Sprite I just want to make sure I get the wishes out to everyone so I start early
hi Sally :)
many will not be here on the actual day sprite...
in that case Merry Christmas to you too!
ah ok, thanks Nanette :) Am always eager to learn... thought maybe this was a custom I didn't yet know.
hi Sally, how many chickens do you have?
NOT HERE!! Shock!! What else is there to do on Christmas Day?
whom did you feed the chickens to, Sally?
lol sally
lol sprite
anyone know if babble plays well on a i-pad?
5 Aloy, one started laying last week. Normally it's after the shortest day so perhaps they think the weather is getting better :-)
I play on an iPad, crossy.
cool ty sally
oh, I opt for believing your chickens!
Sprite! How could you?
Me? I didn't do it, it was you!
when we used to have new layers it was so funny, one day the egg would be the size of a quarter, the next would be a butt busting triple yolker lol only with the new layers.after a week or 2 things settled down
Crossy, i read back a bit in the chog and saw what you said about the festival tree etc and I totally agree with you. I don't object to the beliefs of others when it comes to religion and would gladly embrace their traditions were I in their presence and I feel we should be able to have our traditions as well. To me it will always be Christmas
well said nono
Crossy, I play it in the web browser which comes with it which is Safari. I can have lickety open in another window, and more words in another one, and switch between them OK. The only thing that is a bit of a nuisance is that when you add a word the keyboard pops up and obscures the grid part way, so you can't rapidly put lots of words in. However, you can play it in bed :-) Also the chat works fine.
went to a fun solstice party last night; at 6:38 pm, some of the guests thought it was time to "howl at the moon" - until they upset the puppy in the house who howled right back! End of howling, lol
I said Merry Christmas to Cross because of what he said about the powers that be pushing "Happy Holidays".
Babble is a good place for that, Nanette. We can wish people a good Ramadan and a blessed Hanukkah and of course a merry Xmas as well.
thats what i needed to know,ty sally
so true, sprite
Using a Mac makes me skittish.
Oh, and she isn't a new layer, she's one of my best - just that she's started laying again after the moult.
what is the battery like on it sally?
life
finally made it to half way, but just heard the baby so the household will be stirring soon!
life? Don't talk to me about life!
lol
Oh it's fine. I watch lots of TV on iPlayer on it, and it lasts fine a couple of days without charging. I love my iPad! Do you already have one or is this a present you are hoping for?
TY for the clue, Helena, for ne7 and ne8.
it is a present i am debating for the mrs
awesome, scrabbler
I had a personal encounter with an iPad last week, at a friend's house, and I am LUSTING for one.
uh oh..scrabbs is lusting....
I am pro lust
If I'm honest it's easier playing Babble on the main computer, just because of the separate keyboard, but my son has a plug-in keyboard for his, so if she plays Babble a lot that might be the answer.
You're also in the PB.
I have given up on men, so now I lust for high-tech gadgets--iPad, iPodTouch, iPhone vs Droid smartphones...
*lusting after dark chocolate in the PB now*
as am i...off i go....
ouch. Sorry Haz et al.
Be sure your sins will find you all out.
crossy and I lu4ing in the PB? Ok, errrrr...
do not give up on all of us scrabby, there are good ones out there...honest!
I'm deeply into gadgets :-) But I use the iPad such a lot, and surprisingly I also find I like to read books on it, which was a bo***
*wiping melted chocolate off face*
somehow my sins never have trouble finding me
ooh, sprite, some nice treats in the pb today..
oh lovely, Aloy! Eating them is one of my sins...
Crossy, it is not a requirement for me, so if it happens, it happens. I certainly don't want to disrupt my already blessed life.
wifes sony ready is over 2 years old now and thinking of the i-pad for a nice reader and everything else gadget
She will love it :-)
I have been reading reviews on CNET and PC Mag
cnet is the best for reviews
Wow, Mrs. Cross is getting that nice necklace AND an iPad? She is a lucky woman.
some day Scrabs will meet her handsome, sexy, bunny-loving soul mate.
what about font size sally, can it be ramped up easily for the readers and surfing?
If you want to know anything else, the email in my profile will reach me.
Hi all you lovely people!
howdy flask
Hello, Flask!
hi Flask
hiya Flask!
then ill leave you alone sally lol
My decision in the next several months will be: (1) At upgrade time get basic phone + iPodTouch?, or (2) get iPhone and stay with ATT, or (3) switch to Verizon and get a Droid phone???
Hi Flask
the droid phone rock scrabby
mobile phones and gadgets... that is a nice icon theme!
lol, I didn't mean it that way crossy, just that I might not be here at same time as you.
I don't recommend Verizon Scrabs
complicated, Scrabbs.. are costs comparable?
how are you all today........well I hope!!
its snowin' as I speak!
hi Flask
That is what I keep hearing and reading about. So on May 28th I could drop ATT, and wsicth to Verizon with a Droid phone. OR, get basic phone and use an iPodTouch? <---Wi-Fi dependent.
I'm well.
A white Xmas, Flask :)
crossy does not speak of snow anymore;((
Woo hoo for snow!
I want "slurpee"
first ce 6/24?
hi flask -- are you still in the deep freeze?
*shivering now at thought of drinking a Slurpee*
ce6/24 - Add a vowel to the preceding ce5/12 to get the bacillus word.
My beautiful grandson was bitten in the face by a dog yesterday....and has just come out of surgery a couple of hours ago.....and is getting home soon, but how dreadful....
The first thing I did down here was to put a wreath on the door that reads Let it Snow -- at Home
Poor little boy!
Oh that's terrible Flask.
oh, poor tyke
oh Flask, how awful. I hope he heals up fast, both his face and his fright.
Was he bitten badly? Obviously enough to need surgery.
I just feel hellish.....so helpless!
Oh, no, Flask! How old is he? family dog?
Too little to understand too.
ty haz
brb.. oh, no, Flask.. so sorry! how old is he? what a terrible experience for the tyke
You're welcome, cybernan.
his right cheek has been ripped and both upper and lower lips needed stitched!
I have seen it happen to toddlers that tick off their family dog.
He's only 13 moths!
Thank goodness his eyes weren't affected, Flask.
Oh tell me about it Haz!!!
The positives are that he will probably heal well and will remember nothing. But for you and his parents, what a horrible thing to happen.
oh Flask - so sorry to hear that - he is just a babe - hopefully he will not remember
ohhhh... no words to express .. but agree with Haz
So sorry Flask, what an awful experience
Yes I agree, think its worse for the adults.....
Was the dog just out of control?
and hopefully it wont leave him fearing all dogs but with a healthy respect for them
i am sorry about your grandson flast and i hope he recovers fast.he is young enough that he may not remember this and hopefully have no trauma as a result
His other granny had gone to her friends for lunch and took Alexander with her.....
I think the natural instinct is to want to protect a child from harm and when you feel you've failed, it's gut-wrenching. And even if you weren't within a hundred miles, you still want that precious baby to be unharmed.
the dog went behind the settee...
And the friends had a dog?
and Alexander followed and then he was heard screaming!!!!
so many people underestimate the chance their dog might bite an infant!
Oh poor little boy. And the other granny must feel dreadful as well.
it was a collie
Too late, but she should have watched him if there was a dog. Little ones do like to poke things.
an old dog too
terra is the sweetest, gentlest dog on earth, but I always keep him close when there are small children near. You just never know.
my neice had a similar experience when she was about 3. She and her brother were visiting family members who had a st. bernard and they were all romping around. Somehow the dog ending up biting her forehead just above the eye
Aw Flask. Poor baby. I hope he heals quickly. I'm sure Gran's love will help with that.
And really not the dog's fault.
yep, thats how am feeling too
Old dogs aren't always as accommodating of wee ones.
I agree Haz....a bit like old folk!
Yes, we get that bit crankier.
often the dog warns, but the child simply does not know it is a warning. They don't speak eachother's language.
Speak for yourself Haz!
lol
Okay, I get crankier.
who is calling me cranky! I am not!
:-)
I am slowly becoming a full-fledged curmudgeon.
Okay, you're all angels of light and I'm a cranky biddy. I confess it now.
hot and cold enough for you ladies? :))))))
Humbug.
crossy runs....
*keeps crossy locked up in the sin bin*
Snorts coffee over the keyboard Haz.
lol Hqaz
Haz even
I haven't made any spill coffee for a while, I thought I'd lost my touch.
*anyone
you? Never. An angel of touch.
Why is it that I've been in and out of this grid all day and I still have 81 to find?
you chat too much
Because it's full of strange words, that's why.
Moi? But I don't. Sometimes I hardly chat at all. Yes, Haz's explanation is best.
well ok, there is that too
*smug* I may be cranky, but my explanation is the best.
It was an absolute nightmare yesterday.....the site kept crashing!!!
strange words is putting it mildly for this grid
I know, my patience was sorely tried.
question? on licketys list, are the words in any kind of order when u put them in, like alpabetical?ty
my old cat is in the grid.. ursula
only too tr4, Flask. I kept losing words as well. Finishing was kind of nightmarish.
yes ivesy they are alpabetical
hi ivesy, how do you mean?
hi ursula...
Well Sprite it was 2.30am this morning when I finished!
hi sprite, just wondering if there is any order
ok ty nono! makes it seem more logical lol
ivesy, if you enter the words in Lickety's list, it will place them for you automatically.
I think it was about 1 am for me. But we made it, Flask ;) Ah, I see, ivesy, yes the list is in alphabetical order.
really? i didnt know that ty
It's a handy-dandy feature.
Yep.....we sure did.....;-)
lickety saved me yesterday. I finally moved all words I had found to the list, copied them and saved them in a notepad file. So when the site crashed again, I didn't lose so many words.
so if i enter say, lu then add letters lickety will put it in
I just gave up sprite. It stopped being fun.
ok...I give in...the last 2 bo words, help please??
I can imagine, Sally. It was utterly frustrating.
ivesy, you can add it at the top or the bulk add at the bottom
bo5 - the sort of thing you get at Christmas, an added extra.
And then the plural.
If there was a lu4 and then an lu5, and you typed in lucky and luck (say) then lickety will put them in the right order.
bo5 and 7? An extra and plural.
ok, will go read up on licketys. ty
got it....what a blind bat I am....lolol
your boss might give you a Christmas bo5
No problem, Flask.
thanx
babble blindness. Goes with the territory. Can't make an omelet without breaking braincells and optic nerves
hi, all - any hints for the lone last column E for nbt?
hi rbud
hi rbud!
er5/10 comes from there.
wow two long grids in a row. ugh.
lol, sprite.. well, I'm going to start some baking and come back during oven time.. nice chatting with you all.. ttfn
Constituent element of hymns or poems but without the first v.
Bye, Aloy.
198 to go, time for a break.
bye Aloy, have fun baking!
bye Aloy
bye for now, Scrabs
And Scrabbler.
bye Scrabs
hello all - you freeze - we swelter - what a wonderful world
hi rush!
is there a clue for the er for e in right column?
I mean ursh, sorry. Well, it keeps us covered for things to talk about.
I gave one at 9.48.
see Haz at 9.48, mkg
hi Ursh
see it but am clueless what is means. sorry
Battling with my inner cranky.
and look I am in the grid like aloy's cat
I'm almost in there
got it just now. but by monkeys.
never mind Hax - I am outer cranky
ALMOST HALF WAY. then off to other things. with long grids my goal is half way.
Haz
ty, Haz, got the E! :)
any clues for the 9s?
Put us together and we are cranky through and through, ursh. How hot is it?
about 30 C but Durban is humid and we have had a lot of rain this summer so steamy when sunny
One is se 9/54 from the top row S, is the Latin plural of money in ancient Rome
se9 - ancient Roman money
Hot and drippy isn't pleasant.
30 C and humid is not fun.
ce9/60 is the other, being a plural of ce8/45.
thanks for the se9
no not pleasant when doing the dirty H word and I chose today to do a big pre christmas clean up - sweaty work
gee i dont recall any term for ancient roman money. hmmm.
You're welcome, sprite.
The h word isn't dirty in my house...
and for the ce8/9 as well :)
Well done, sprite, you're welcome.
se9 - a female sibling but with one vowel changed running into a Spanish aunt.
got it ty.
Hi everybody. Burst pipe in attic overnight. Spend most of today ankle deep in water, no electricity & no heat.Just got the lecky back and am gradually defrosting myself.
dont have the ce 8 or 8 yet.
a measure for ground, mkg
does NOT sound like fun soddlebum.
oh Soodle, how cold and unpleasant!
Oh poor you soodle. Here, have a hot chocolate.
ce9 being a plural. Use the first letters of the coin, then add a princess type headgear, but change the final vowel.
Not the weather for that.
Horrible, Soodle. Does that mean you've had a thaw?
crown? princesses wear.........hmmm
poor soodles;(((
Not quite a crown, but along the right lines.
I keep mine in the bank.
Also worn by women in full evening dress.
Thanks Sally. And no, Haz - no thaw - which is REALLY scary. The soldered joint on a copper pipe just ...well.. blew, due to the cold. I don't understand the science of it, but thats what the plumber said.
What company you must keep, Haz!
I wondered. We're still well below zero and couldn't imagine that you'd be at the point of thawing.
what i have is not working. it is the se 9 but with c. what am i doing wrong?
Oh, it's twinsets and pearls by day, jewels and headgear by night.
I had imagined as much :-)
The word isn't the same mkg
ce8 - start with the coin. Add a vowel. Then add a verb form of 'to be'. I am, you ***
we had intestine yesterday... and en8 today!
ugh. i am lost with ce 8. sorry
It's an American coin mkg
I know, and did you notice that you can't have a singular en thing.
mkg: the common coin that starts with ce. NOT the roman coin!
yes I did. I tried several times.
Yes I did, and thought that was odd.
oh. well i am still stumped. will keep trying.
Move onto another word, or consider looking it up in morewords.
I found it in morewords :-)
clue for au 6
It would save a lot of frustration if you would confirm clues by looking up other resources like morewords or a2z.
au6/30 - au plus a shortened underwater ship, finish off with a vowel
got the coin, that is 4 letters. then i am lost.
au6/24 - what accompanies Staph.
mkg, use morewords
will try.
ty
So, go to morewords, type in the four letters you know followed by four dashes and it will bring up a list. You'll find it in there.
back in a bit, have to shut pop hole and it takes me ages to get into boots, hat, fleece and gloves. Then to take them all off again. sigh.
poor Sally. But imagine going without. That would be so much worse.
hi all
hi geek
more words i tried centiar and nothing. so so stumped.
I invariably have to move one of the hens who tries to sleep in the nest box. She is so warm and soft, I just want to cuddle her!
Add a vowel to the end, mkg.
sigh, mkg... that is one letter short of the word. Add a vowel.
ty. that word is not in more words though.
well i got them. ty ty
Well, that's strange because that's where I found it.
not enough dashes, perhaps?
it is there, am looking at it now, mkg. You probably did not enter enough --- for the whole word.
Not enough practice using it!"
I'm a dab hand.
Anyway, time I was off, shopping to be stowed away etc. Enjoy the rest of the grid!
*smug* I am finding compounds!
I also love that you can exclude letters not in the grid with a list of them, following a ^ symbol - really narrows it down
bye Haz, have fun!
Bye!
mmm nice strong cuppa tea and toast..mmm
I have the ce9....whats the other 9 please?
se9, Flask. Roman coin.
I mean coins
thanx Sprite
yvw :)
wow, i've never used morewords
it's just morewords.com?
yes, www.morewords.com
I prefer www.a2zwordfinder.com though. But that is a personal thing.
i've used that one, sprite
i like it
and now that I am sharing links, grin, this one is great for finding definitions once you have found a new word: www.infoplease.com
ok well I have not asked for a clue yet today and I have 129 left. I do not know what the se word is for flask or roman coin. Tried more words
wow!....Found that 9 Sprite, so pleased with myself...and I dunno why!!!...lol
wtg Flask!
ok geek, let me try this then: a nap in the middle of the day is a Si***a. + this world is called *a**h. + a glass flask is called a v**l.
I found the se9 in Wiki, googled "ancient roman money" (a clue that was in here) and picked the Wiki entry - but it had a singular (?) ending, had to sort out the plural myself
wtg rbud :) Yep, it is the plural that is in this grid.
cool and ty
yvw
i was looking the other direction on the grid.
what are the stats for the lone E on the right hand side?
er5/10
ty
gotit
good :)
I am making a batch of potato pancakes for all of us!
oh Scrabs, lovely *slurp*
yum! Scrabs - sI tayed home!

Hi science and rbud
so i see
hola
what took you to SA science
hi all
hi jmc :)
you see what?
another big grid! i didn't finish yesterday
SA was for fun (supposedly) since we had two free nights at the Best Western that would expire today.
it isn't so bad. Some weird words though.
hi, Boo - was freshening my coffee
The first batch of potato pancakes is ready. Dig in!
*digs in* Mmmmm delish!
*watches everyone latke onto them*
Back. brrrr!
Haha, Ruru!
i don't dig potato pancakes
well I am stuck at 126. BBL
hi ruru :)
bye geek
that spuds for you ru
hi sprite
Bye SG
you'll get to like them sooner or tater jmc
terra loves pawtatoes
that is what I tot but i didn't
<---is off of potatos and starches
low carb diet?
yep
low carbonara sauce
Blood sugar issues, Ru? Or for wt loss?
wt loss
i tried that but then i went to kenya
fireflies. Got to go, dinner time here. Bye all and thanks for the fun and help.
they have a 100% carb diet and I lost more weight there
congrats, sprite!!!
whoo hooo sprite!
Congrats & bye, Sprite.
wtg sprite
bye sprite
is there more than one GN word?
good job Sprite!!
wow look at all the people who are here!
I totally missed the gn4.
Only one gn word jmc
I gn* you would scrabs
ty sally
glad to help out scrabs
Ruru, did you end up finishing in time last night?
yes.. but just barely
I just about killed myself on it
wd ru!
Those mammoth grids cause psychosis.
Pini saved my butt yesterday
i don't mind big ones but the lag and rejection was too much
*sniff* can't stand the rejection
I spent over an hour on those dumb i's
Same here jmc, I gave up
the grid..why is it looking at me that way....the grid is trying to eat me!!...arrrrgh!....time for tea and meds..brb lol
<--- married a jewish american princess..is used to rejection
Pini was a cluing machine while she was trying to finish too.
lol
lol, ru! ;p
Poor Ruru.
do you think i should suggest to my staff that listening to comedy cds for more than an hour is enough?
yes
pini is a great cluer
is it helping work performance?
don't want to be pot calling kettle black
no one is calling-- they are all home on exodus leave
as long as the work is not suffering, let it ride
Maybe give them some goals for the day.
are they looking for the promised land jm?
yeah I have a couple of things they need to do but i guess i needn't worry
*imagines JMC dressed as Moses*
they aren't allowed to call it christmas leave any more
beards too itchy
I have $75 in gift cards for Barnes & Noble--must decide what to buy.
at my place i let them play whatever music they like as long as it is not offensive to customers..does wonders work motivation
how politically correct jm
ooooo cool scrabs
buy a nook reader scrabby
they were sued -- trust me the military wouldn't make that change on their own
if it were music i wouldn't hesitate crossy but they are all in one office listening to stand up comedy
is it really called exodus leave?
what kind of books do you like scrab?
yes it is really called that or something like that-- i haven't seen it written
Historical fiction, mysteries.
no religious connotations to the word "exodus", riiiiight, lol! ;p
But, Crossy, isn't the Sony e-reader a better choice?
if you can find it,get some of the true crime collections written by Max Haines
<--- would rather have a nookie reader
it is for us scrabby cause we are in canada, but in the states, the nook is the best choice
i know a fairly obscure mystery book that I love: A Guide to the Birds of East Africa Nicholas Drayson
ru! *shock*
my brother bought me a nook;)))
Crossy, one of Haines' books is called "Doctors Who Kill." Aaaaahhh.
I will look, jm.
ru just wants nookie
they alway off us,we know all about you docs....
we are not but breathing pieces of meat for your diabolical experiments
run!!!
naught
My former boss, Dr Richard Head, is one of those docs that will kill someday due to his arrogance.
JM, I added that book to my list.
Crossy, why is the Nook the best choice?
i remember your tales of the infamous Dr Head
if you own a nook in the states, the wi-fi si seamless
i always loved that name Dr Head
and the book ordering
is that what i have crossy? I forget but i bought in on your recommendation last year
I see that the Nook has received high ratings. NookColor is $249! And I want an iPad and an iPodTouch too....
ugh..another big one????
I still have nightmares with Dr head.
Almost never use it but did read another good nonfiction book on it:
because 99% of the reader use at@t and stop at the u.s border,we up here use sony for readers for the most part
Hi Carlee
try looking on Amazon.com. they have good deals
but i have ways around that..that are almost legal lol
hi scrabs... crossy jmc
and boo
howdy carlee
I would like an e-reader
Mistakes were Made (but not by Me) a fabulous book about how people misremember and why we have polarized as a nation
hi carlee
so the nook works for me
hi car
and in the nook the battery is user changeable
Interesting book, I see, jm.
ugh, why must the U's be so difficult? (need 8 more!)
I need to finish my pile of real books before I buy an e-reader.
then the series of books starting in India and finishing with Waterloo by Bernard Cromwell
go rbud go
my staff has finished listening to the comedy cd and all come one by one to my office to more or less apologize--I feel like a cad!
but I told them if I was annoyed I would have go** in and stopped them
Well, tell them that you are not Scrooge.
I am not
I am little Mary Sunshine
I think that I should shower, get dressed and become productive. I am still in pjs at noon.
The thing about the Cromwell books is that since they follow a soldier they are pretty violent
PJs at noon is almost as fun as handbags at dawn.
no sense getting carried away scrabs!
Hi NB! ((NB))
and (((HUGS))) all day long. :)
hi NB
hi evan
i just myself showered..silly me my clock is messed up from stayin gup for the eclipse and pushing through yesterday..in 48 hours i had 4

Hi EvaN....belated congrats to your and your darling hubby on your wedding........I was AWOL for a while and missed the great event!

You are STILL in the hospital, NB?
In isolation NB! Oh No!! Can't visitors wear masks and things?

I keep seeing sutures. Maybe I am worried about you Nanc, hmmm?
hello, back from the food pantry. The customers were so grateful. Made me feel good even tho I was very tired from a sleepless night.
you stay there as long as it takes, dearest, for you to be all better and top-notch.
lol, Mich!
hopefully I get out on boxing day, Eva, but then I can't work for three months..and then I have to find a new job 'cause I can't do my old one...fret fret fret :(
Fireworks! What a slog today. NB, I'm so sorry about the isolation, but thank heavens you obviously have a laptop or phone to keep in touch. Babble is your friend!
Any clues needed?
NB sending positive thoughts your way.
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for sally

yay for Sally
Way to go Sally! I still have 135 left, and except for the 7 recent words, all Lost in Space!
There is no way I could have finished this grid without lickety and morewords.
wd peri
whoo hoo sally
chin up, love. i firmly believe that every cloud has a silver lining. whatever crap we go through is for a reason, and the best comes our way for it. hard to see that sometimes when youre neck-deep in the muck, but you know your babble family wont let bad things happen to you. :)
NB, are you thinking of retraining? Can you do a course during the 3 months??
there we go nbt/nbs in 29
en8/40 - another word for your intestines

thats the attitude, mich!
Right, Eva!!
does anyone have the ce 8? I need a clue please
the thing is, I have to be on drugs that suppress my immune system. so the two things I love (huge amounts of people and animals) are ruled out - apart from my darling cats, thank god! even they've had to be screened by a vet for everything under the sun..
clue please for the first ce6/24 please?
There are still lots of things you could do. You were tending bar, right? As a people person, maybe you could be a phone counselor. I used to work on a crisis hot line, it was very satisfying.
its a tough road, no doubt, NB. we can help you brainstorm, if you want...
Hmm, I'm not sure if I trust myself with that kind of responsibility...
First of all, you'd get training. Second of all, that's just one idea, there are other things you can do to connect with people by phone or on-line.
ohh, thanks, Eva. Sorry, I guess I'm just feeling a little sorry for myself today!
I am payng attention too, would love to have a part time job. but Mich didn't you find the phone counseling to be emotionally draining?
it happens to the best of us, sweets. and if anyone has the right to, its you right now! hell, i broke down in tears a few weeks ago because i could find pants at the mall. i think your reason a bit more valid. ;)
Boobear, ce8 = coin + crown with different last vowel
Feeling sorry for yourself is okay, just don't get stuck there. Whatever you've gone through and are still going through is obviously hard and you are allowed to mourn. But when you can, try and spend a little time every day focusing on that silver lining.
Peri - phone counseling can be draining as can any counseling. It is very important to (a) learn to disconnect and not bring everyone else's issues home and (b) have a place to go for your own support.
I just never figured that things would be like this. 20 years old and no family, no job...ugh, sorry. Right, the pity party ends here!! Let's talk about something happy.
exactly, mich! if you feel the need to wallow a bit, dont deny those feelings. let yourself fell them -- its cathartic. but just give yourself a short amount of time to feel them, then refocus on the good stuff.
NB..with everything i am going through atm ( not sure what you know and dont know..but its a crapload ..I wont bore the chog yet again)... every day i just take about 2 mins to think about what i am grateful for...it helps...
adorable picture, NB< who is that with you?
Boobear did u get my clue????
ok NB...44 and losing home..marriage after 20 years...no job...and my father is terminal with cancer..u seriously..are not alone ...
youre definitely in a tough spot there, hon. but youve got a whole family of people here who care loads about you. you know we will do whatever we can to help.
You are loved NB, by us, by your mom (even though she cannot show you or act on it) and your BF, no?
yes ty Flask
oh, thanks - it's one of my cousins. Not one of the ones that talks to me, but a cousin nonetheless.
Thanks, Carlee :) sorry, I know I shouldn't complain!
clue for the 1st ce6/24 please??
(((((((((((NB)))))))))))) missed you
so just take a couple mins to remember things you are grateful for..especially when going to bed...
what happened to your job, carelee?
you have every right to complain ... then do something to make it better
Morning all! ((((((HUGS NB GENTLY))))) and squeezes cheeks. Auntie Judi has been worried about you!!
sorry to intrude on the conversation, but I thought you might be interested in a book called Simple Abundance. It is a book that corresponds to journaling and focuses on gratitude. It helps change your perspective around. I haven't read the whole log, but thought you might benefit. I did.
that is not why i told u nb..complain..its part of grieving... get it out there..wallow...roll around it...get stinky and messy with it...the point is..u are NOT alone
Hi Judi
Read back in chog. Dang, dude. You sound radioactive!
Nah, Mich. She rolled up at the hospital, told me I'd be better off dead and then left. I do have Frank, though - and for that I'm grateful all the time!
I have that book Wudry and have read and reread it many times
Hey, Judi :)
hi wurdy...judy
Glad you're feeling well enough to chat with us, NB. Bummer to be a bubble boy for Christmas, though. Get well soon, sweetie.
OY! I am so sorry. I had thought she was secretly in your corner. Better if she hadn't come. I can understand parents being hurt by your lifestyle choices, but I cannot understand rejecting a child.
Thanks, Judi :) 'bubble boy' - that's cute!
Yay for Frank!
ty wurdy
Gobsmacked by the cousin going out of her way to hat on you. That's just evil.
*hate*
Not cousin - my mum - should have expected it. She was taking my sister to visit me, hence why she was there..
strange that she would show up at all, if those are her feelings... :/
need a nap, bbl
but your sister still supports you?
ahh. surprised she would even bring your sister. that seems like a teeny-tiny step forward, at least...
peri I work at a hotline too
((((((NB)))))) hang in there.
did not know that jmc
What kind JMC?
need a nap, bbl
*Double gobsmacked* Quadruple evil of your own mum. So sorry you had to experience that on top of the illness.
Yeah, that's what I thought. And at least she said it when she thought I was asleep. Clutching at straws though, maybe ;)
well, we love you more than whatever negative feelings your parents can possess.
NB has JC been to see you at all?
Amen and ditto, Eva!
clue for 1st ce6/24 please??
i answer a hotline for people in the military--mainly how to get out
Nah, I'm not allowed visitors, and he's busy up in Birmingham :)
Interesting.
THat was for JMC, Who is JC, NB?
but sometimes people who are being sexually assaulted (as is 3 to 4 times more likely to happen in the military) or suicidal
haha, poor flask. I'd clue you if I could.
well at least you've acknowledged me......
JC is another babbler.
JC - good friend of mine, met him on here, but we've become very close since!
does anyone have the last ce 6/24
Do you work within the military system?
Oh, sorry Flask, I'm all wrapped up in myself today! Don't have a clue, but hello :)
Ah, OK, I know who JC is. Nice you have connected.
Sorry, dont have it yet, Boo.
ah..i wonered why i had not seen him..but if he is busy...give him my regards if you are in email contact with him..and wish him happy holidays for me pls nb
Well, off to make supper. BBL.
Definitely, Mich...he's an amazing person. Real lifesaver...
Thank GD for that. How far is Birmingham from London?
BTW, dearest, please send my thanks to Frank for responding to email whilst you were indisposed. (((frank)))
boo...the word is...cesura
Oh, will do, Carlee - he'll be glad to hear that :) yes, we've been finding time to talk somehow!
good..am glad...i rather miss him :)
Will do, Eva - when I'm allowed to see HIM again! *whines*
Bad Bad Flask. INto the PB!
oops flask.. you get lunch there to
*facepalm* Good one, Flask.
i like clues like that flask... keep 'em coming
thanks, flask
i saw you all three times you asked
(for the record)
and i believe you still owe me a photo. i was told you would trade for wedding photos. ;)
no......I won't......you all ignored me......so ignore that too!!!!!
Not too far, Mich...he's on a very vigorous schedule though :)
lol! Judi...love your icon
hi fellow babblers
:-)
OK, Well, I am sending you loads of love while I go make supper for my family.
Thanks, Mich - very appreciated. Nice chatting to you today :)
BBL
See ya, Mich!
ok, NB, my love. im heading off to lunch. dont over-exert yourself chatting away on here. much love to you and to frank. :)
Oh, I'll be taking off for another geriatric little nap again soon ;) take care, Eva. Love to you and yours!
byebye NB...take care {{HUGS}}
is this grid unfriendly or is it one of the ones that twists the wrong way for me?
yes, carlee I agree. I just cant believe there are 25 2s fjrom the top row
*s's
{{hugs for bichon}} how are you feeling???
I'm doing okay. But just saw a picture of a Bichon in the newspaper. Gotta toughen up
i hear you bichon..
early retreat to the list on this grid
A clue please for the 1st ce6/24
I only have the one ce 6/24 and that's the poetic term
well there are 3 in a row.....do you have the 1st .. 2nd.. or 3rd?
Ce6/24: ce + joke, prank, etc.
I have the third, I believe you have that one
thanks, judi
thanx Bichon....
what is the joke prank?
Sorry, my clue was for the 2nd ce6/24.
found it at last.......myself!!
that's okay, I just don't see the joke, prank
okay, now I have the 2nd ce 6/24
Otherwise, ce + re/4.
Arrrgh. Ce + ru/4, rather. I'll just shut it now.
ce + anagram of the joke, prank
Got it. Ty, Bichon.
I have the ce 8/9. Need a clue
Ce8/9: Penny + Miss America's "crown" w/ different vowel ending + plural.
Egads. I've killed the chog. Oh, the humanity.
oh, the huge-manatee!
hi Judi - I'll jump in - maybe someone will laugh at this:
in the middle of all the horrendous phone calls I've been making, how's this - a bill for $46 from the auto insurance company..... why?
because my husband, who was 65, was receiving a "Senior Discount" which has now been removed!
half way there!!
ha, your husband got younger? ;-)
you have to laugh, or you'll go crazy - at least the lady on the phone was very nice
no, dear Helena - my husband recently passed away, so his name was removed from the policy, hence the discount is gone too
Insurance companies - gotta love em. Oy.
oh, I'm so sorry!!
hmmm..wassail...oh..i was goign to post my recipe for it...brb
good evening everybody
{{bichon}} what happened?
that's ok, Helena, I'm coping - my husband would be laughing right now, that's what keeps me going
hi judi
Condolences, JBV. My SIL went through much the same after my brother passed away last summer.
hello carlee
(((Jbv))). Hey all!
hey stid
hello mama!!
hello all :) hows the site acting today? yesterday i couldnt stay connected to it long enough to get much done
thank you, Judi
Hi everybody :)
seems ok, sadie
Hey ruby! Was worried I hadn't seen you so long!
condolences from here, too, JBV
My cousin couldn't cancel a hotel reservation of his father's after his father passed away. He finally told the lady on the phone "if my father shows up, please call me back"
thank you ruby
it's been hectic! to say the least....
Soodle knows the whole story
Hey soodles! Did you recover okay from our virtual revels yestereday?
how about a patient satisfaction survey sent out by the hospital where he died??
that is a funny storry helena!
Oh. Poor ruby!
I was almost going to call to complain, but I don't waste my energy in that way, I'd rather babble and think happy thoughts
No jbv! For real?
yes, real, stid
Oh stiddy.... near disaster last nite. A pipe burst in my attic and flooded the whole house. Its been difficult, but I'm not going to moan, particularly after reading JBV's post....
we've had no cable service for more than 3 weeks after I've made countless calls and paid a repairman 146 euros for nothing and they called today to ask how we liked their service!
hi Soodle
Stupid hospital. Automation could easily account for discharge due to mortality.
oh, no Soodle! that's awful - a flood in the attic? and pouring down?
Hello Sadie.
hello sweet sadie!
Pouring down! in minus 17 degrees of frozzlement....
I agree, stid, at some point I may communicate that to the right person or department, not now
hello ruby :)
the wild thing is calling customer service and getting someone speaking French with an Indian or Chinese accent
ohhhhhhhh yea i love calling customer service...sigh
oh soodles... well our hoem is small, messy and crowded but it's dry and you are welcome at any time.
wow, ruby
it usually ends up in total confusion
poor, wet , soodle. I'm making hot toddies for the PB -- now if I could find a word to put me there
Ruby, sounds all too familiar from cable.
Oh, Soodle! How awful! Have you secured alternative lodging? Are you insured?
the worst is those horrible voice messaging systems - I hate them
my favorite: boiling water, a little butter, a ttsp of sugar and a shot of white rum -- warms the cockles
Oh dear. Now ruby is exposing here cockles. Shame!
Well I am babbling from my cell phone. Migraine has me flat today. I will be on again later.
with the cable company, after going through several menus and waiting 20-30 minutes (paying per minute!), on the rare occasions when you finally get someone, halfway through, it cuts off
Automated VM's are sometimes preferable to attempting to speak to foreign customer service reps. I don't speak Pakistani!
hope you feel better fast stidmama
LOL... see you all later. (((Many hugs))). *poof*
thanks for listening guys, so nice to know we are here for each other - Soodle have they recommended the air-drying system with fans? I had that here in the basement when my washing machine hose sprang a leak
feel better, mama!
ok..wassail recipe is posted...
is co****** a bad word? I thought it was part of the heart.....
but I hate when they try to sound conversational, "Let's see I think you said XXX, is that correct?" or "OK, let's get started, are you ready?"
I don't even understand their accents. So, I stop them in the middle of their schpeil and ask for someone who speaks without an accent. Call me an ugly American, but I just want to resolve my problem, not further global relations.
wait..WHAT is pouring where soodle???
but today I talked with an account manager in Boston, an American, and I couldn't understand her, either....maybe it's me!
lol ruby its the boston accent
and wassail in the PB too
I think you are an adorable American Judi, and you are right!
Carlee. Burst pipe in attic - water flooded the whole house. I have house insurance, thank goodness - and dehumidifiers and heaters going full blast.
when telemarketers call, I can usually tell from the background noise and I say "Hello, hello, who is this? I don't speak French." and they always hang up
oh bloody hell... what rot is that... and who has pipes in the attic anyway???
Outsourcing to foreigners is pandemic, apparently. God save us all!
Yay for adorable Americans!!!
*dimples on display*
passing soddle a warm mug of wassail
soodle*
when I told my husband, he asked the same question; why are there pipes in the attic? Do you live on a mountainside? That was his scientific explanation. raofl
oh my gosh soodle im sorry to hear that what a mess
judi, since you're in Scranton, do you know the Binghamton accent test: Mary, marry, merry?
Could be worse. Could have been a sewer line.
yea that ais a good question what are they doing in the attic lo
laughing ruefully for soodle
good point Judi
Theres a tank in the attic which feeds water to the WC and the hot taps. I have no idea whether it should be there or not, but it is, and it broke! (Slurping wassail....)
Overhead plumbing is not so uncommon if you live in a duplex or apartment complex - or in antiquated housing.
uses old system of gravity...
where is the wassail recipe?
yep it does
on my profile ruby
As always, gravity sucks. I think Albert Einstein said that.
i did not do the type with eggs....
Antiquated and liquidated.... just about describes Chez Soodle right now.
that is a lot of work, carlee, too much for lazy Ruby. My hot water, butter sugar and rum works and takes about 2 minutes. But if we have a babble meet in Annecy, I'll make wassail (but will have to buy a slow cooker)
just a heavy pot on lowest heat ruby...and really nto alot of work..dump into pot...the hardest part was sticking cloves in the orange...i pre-poked with a skewer...so they went in quickly...its sooo yummy..i made yesterday..and am sipping again now
i will so make it again..its so rich tasting :)
OK, I'm convinced - clous de girofle
I'm so unmotivated. I have to do some laundry and run a few errands. Blah.
i have laundry too...<sigh>
I haven't done anything except hang a wreath and put husband's flowers in water and do laundry!!
but at least all is peaceful
i showered and got dressed and made a cold turkey sandwich for lunch
it's astonishing how much laundry 2 people and 2 dogs can generate
You're waaaay ahead of me, Ruby. I did take a short walk- thinking it would loosen up my hip bursitis. Not.
I only go out of the house for lunch, otherwise I wouldn't ever when there's ice
you must control the dogs and their multiple changes a day .....hello ((Ruby))
Hi River
((Soodle)) sorry to hear of your water problem
it's their fancy costumes! Can you imagine how funny it would be to put clothes on chow chows?
No snow or ice here at the moment. Thankful for that.
Hiya, River!
Hi Boo, Judi, carlee and all those babble luckers
when I lived in Binghamton, I fell once every winter, usually on the dreaded black ice (which lasted 'til April)
its finally snowing here - very lightly just enough to cover the grass but not the road - I so want a white christmas
I hear ya, Ruby. We used to live near Utica. Never fell, but the duck walk was always in fashion.
hi river... and yay for snow...
Utica is another place with a great climate. When I commuted to Scranton in the winter, it was terrifying when there was snow on I81, especially with deer in the road
no snow here..but wonderful sunshine
we've already had enough to last me all winter -- fat chance!
ruby..u lived in scranton? do you remember scarlet..she is from the scranton area
Hiya River :-)
Yep. Absolutely hellish. lol. My father hit a turkey one year. They were on the first leg of their annual trip to Florida for the winter. Cracked the windshield, so they had to return home until it was repaird. The turkey did not survive.
she's not there now...born born in the area..lived there most of her life
no, carlee, I lived in Binghamton but went to graduate school at Marywood in Scranton
turkey dinner
ok... just thought i would ask
Turkey hash was more like it.
Mary would if Mary could was the school slogan (bad Ruby)
I love the turkey story, judi!
the deer were very scary, though
my grandparents were married in Scranton; I have no idea why
Hubby had a deer encounter. Dumb thing just stood in the road. Ice prevented him from stopping. $1,400 encounter.
Okay. Gotta go do the chores. BBL. *POOF*
I hope you had a few good meals! at least you wouldn't have to pick out pieces of shot
bye judi

hi carlee (-: , how's the grid coming for you? 22 left here, have been back and forth between the kitchen and Babble
ive got 162 left -- i am BLIND to words today!
this grid is awful....i still have 180 words to go ..and yes..pblind to them,,,
don't feel bad, Eva.. had the same experience this morning, couldn't "see" much at all
16 left here but getting tired of it....what is wrong with me...
... and I'm hunting for four letter words now, lol
... and I'm hunting for four letter words now, lol
wouldn't enter.. pleeez, no lag!
babble burn out from yesterday
definitely! that was a tr5 by fire
im also blinded by rage right now. (and by rage, i mean UTTER annoyance.) seems my package that UPS says they delivered to my front door monday morning has disappeared. so there is a whole chunk of christmas gifts gone.
oh crap...
oooh no... check with your neighbors.. ours was delivered to a neighbor by UPS
why did they leave it at the door?
why no signature?
this didnt require a signature. so i highly doubt a neighbor has it -- our neighbor never even uses their front door, so we usually have to let them know when they have a package sitting there.
call the company you ordered from... i had that happen once...and they resent the items
make a stink that they relied on a company that did not deliever..that you received nothing from ...and call ur visa too
i contacted the company. i guess when i checked out, i clicked a box that basically says once it is delivered, they are no longer responsible for lost/stolen/damaged items. (this basically is what make the signature not necessary) they did offer to let me pay 50% (plus shipping) and they wuold re-send.
visa's ( some of them guarantee items)
oh for F&^% sake
yeah. the voicemail the lady left was polite, but very firm in reminding me more or less that this is MY fault, since i checked the box.
*note to self dont check the box*
.. ugh, superugh.. will remember that too.. if you don't check the box, does it cost extra?
seriously. i only checked it because we are never home to sign for it, and i dont even know where the UPS office is to pick up from.
no, it didnt cost extra, just would require a signature for delivery, which we wouldnt be there to provide.
i didnt think it would be an issue, since all of our other packages got delivered without problem. just these 2 that have gone missing. hubby can probably get his reshipped for free, but i will have to pay
do you just have one neighbor? (still hoping your pkg will show up)
ugh...royal scam
we live in a townhouse. our doorway is shared with only one neighbor. anyone could have walked up + taken it, i supposed. but that has never happened before...
rats.. was it too big to be put inside the screen door?
we dont have a screen door.
sigh.. and what time did UPS log the delivery?
10:46am on monday.
not to butt in, have been lurking - after working retail for many years, you should definitely call the credit card company - in most cases, they will remove the charge
ah, so it was supposedly out front for a while..
hello, Lady B
its a debit card. i dont get that same protection, do i?
then call UPS and let them know what happened and request that they trace the package - if it was insured, that should cover the charge on your credit card
if you ordered online it was run through as a credit card purchase
UPS wont trace the package because of the selection i made on the website. all they will say is that their records show it was successfully delivered.
( yay for lady biotch :o) )
did you go back online to verify what it was you checked off - does it say that the company and UPS are not liable
yes. it was a shipper release thing. basically, im responsible. *sigh*
and....was the package insured?
brb.. stove beeping
package was not insured.
call credit company
basically, im to blame.
sounds like a scam Eva - you checked off a box and the package wasn't insured??
unless things have changed, if UPS considers the area you live in a "safe" area, if the contents are insured for less than $500 then they do not have to get a signature
basically, when you click the "shipper release" button, 2 more things pop up that you have to check off. one of them states that after delivery, UPS and the company are not responsible for damage, loss, or theft and that the package is not insured. the other one confirms that there is nowhere else to deliver the package.
what company, just curious or more so I wouldn't want to order from them
so pretty much, because UPS says they delivered it, from there on out, UPS and the company are not at all responsible.
id rather not say the name of the company. i have ordered from them before with no issue. the only issue this time is that "shipper release" button which i will clearly never check again!
i hate stuff like that. poor evanadine!
welp. just got off the phone with their customer service. they offered me 50% off (plus shipping) to re-send, so i went ahead and did it. i figured paying a little extrawould be better than throwing my money away entirely.
almost $100 total now for 3 stinkin tshirts. he better LOVE these things!!
well. now ive totally killed the chog...
I'm sure you haven't
lunch time and stuff
good timing wildcat -- you saved me from having to go streaking in order to wake this place up! (its really MUCH too cold for streaking!)
phew
Eva, that totally sucks about your on line purchase. I hope Mr. Foster enjoys his high dollar t-shirts. : D
yup. close call.
molly, 2 of them he actually chose, so i know he will like them. and the other one i chose, but im 99% certain he will love it. i just hope he appreciates them enough to make them worth the money...hehe
And it becomes one of those "holiday stories" like Cross and his all night wrapping marathon on Christmas Eve.
isnt that ALL christmas eves??
lol
Not me. Not since the kids were little. The only thing I wrap on Christmas Eve is stocking stuffers. And I sip Irish while I'm doing that. : P
that reminds me -- we still need to get our stocking stuff! we always do that at the dollar store. :)
that's what I need too - stocking stuff
Did anyone else always get an orange in their stocking? Or was that just my mother?
we always stuff our stockings at the dollar store. the point was to get stuff to make each other laugh...
my cousins did Helena..
I now have this mental image of The Dollar Stores being packed with last minute stocking stuffer shoppers.
it was to remind them of the great depression
no oranges. but my mother often put tea lights in our stockings, then absentmindedly hung them by the fire. have a few stains on the hearth, thanks to that!
we got an orange and a quarter
haha! I don't think my mother thought of that. It was always a clemmie, too
i have sticky-fingered christmas memories
haha, eva
and on that note, im off to the hairdressers to get all trimmed up for the holly-days. have a good evening, all!
bye eva tc
bye
au 6/24 anyone?
a clue please for the 1st SU4 word please??
AU + Susan boyles nickname!!
sounds like a brass instrument
for the SU
Eva, how in God's name can you need a haircut already? You just got it all chopped off.
Oranges, nuts, and candy
thanx helen
*Smacking fingers* Secret is NOT in the grid.
Neither is "secrete". And I already have all my 7s...
wooo, got all the 4 letter words
yay helena!
I'm missing a s4, s5, s6... and "surd" is not in the grid, either!
yay, found them... :o)
(also, hi all! :o) )
can someone clue the ab6?
the one that has nothign to do with a mean person?
well, i have 2 that are mean-person related....
perhaps the third one is...
if someone has a lack of will, in psychological terms, he has ab6.
ab + J**** Child, the french chef
phone.. sigh
thnx aloy

I'm going to re-boot. I cannot finish without my word list!!
I have an interview at 4 grid time :)
Crossy got me excited about the Nook so I was reading about that. It is more affordable than an iPad, for sure.
Good luck, Seain!! I will be sending good vibes.

she has a cold. doc says she's halfway through it
sick kids are so so hard to deal with. i always feel so bad for them.
We feel miserable with a cold. The little ones have tiny nasal passages, cannot blow their noses, and don't know that they will be better soon.
hope she gets through the other half without much fuss and trouble, dc
she blows her nose some, and we suck out mucus sume
The list + the Resources tab are very helpful.

ouch
poor computer
it's amazing how much cooling a tiny fan provides...
clue please for the FIRST te word...te4/4?
This is an old style Babble, tough words
usually it hovers around 68~84...
hi Flask. 13-19 yo
hi Flask -- I'm one! ;o)
te 4/4 age after 1st decade
Aww thanx guys!
stop bragging dfm
Hi Luv! :o)
hi dfm
Anyone else finding this a tough grid???
I found this one slightly harder than yesterday's.
slightly! much harder
lolol....only slightly??
definitely has some interesting words-19 of which I have still to find
am with Lynxxx.....
46 here....
94 here and listed at about 120
I probably will have to wait and finish them after I get back from bowling
took more or less the same amount of time for me ;o) (i.e. five hours for both...)
there's a few words using the brit spelling to look out for
<-- usually has to look out for American spellings ;oP
now now Luv, you mean the correct spelling
lol of course that's what I mean lynx
:-P
hi jmc
hi all
some words do sound more elegant spelled the brit (oops, correct) way such as theatre as opposed to theater
hi jmc
like that time "arbor" was in the grid... took forever to find it, and that was only be cause I saw the word elsewhere that got me to find it. (and I was still listing back then, too!)
hi jmc! :o)
and cheque looks much more elegant thank check - althjough will probably be an obsolete word wiuthin 10 years anyway
but arbor is the american spelling!
good grief - excuse my typos
what is the brit spelling of arbor?
arbour
arbour
arbour.
the brits are always throwing an extra u in words
hi Ata
yes lynx checque is another good example. But with the text lingo used so much nowadays several of the words we are used to may become obsolete
the Americans are always forgetting the important U in words...
did you know in the U.S. it is now against the law for a bank to give you back your original check?
hi ata
you mean you're always taking them out :)
hadn't heard that jmc, why?
but can they give you back your original cheque? :oO
I think that the US may have been the only country that did that anyway
lol dfm
my problem is that i read so many british novels that i have no idea how to spell gray/grey
i think ise looks better than ize
totally an E, jmc.
-ize is hard to type (esp. on Dvorak!)
grey!
grey grey greyyyy
what happened to your flag symbol dfm?
it is supposedly for security but it is really another boondoggle for banks
my friend's last name is grey. she tells people "gray with an e". You have no idea how many times peopel spell it graye
*note to self: must be gray if dfm says grey*
I'm at the point where I sometimes type "sise" instead of "size" to avoid using the z...
I was playing around with Tamperdata to change my country to "the universe" ;o)
yeah jmc, sounds like another way for banks to save money. I've been saying for 30 years now that there's going to come a point in time where you have to pay to use a teller and I think that may actually be true in some places already
Unfortunately "the universe" isn't a country and doesn't have a flag...
lol bank to the checque books for me! *blech*
dfm, can you please speak the same language most of us here do
actually love some banks already do charge for that
see, no flag!
well have to talk to dr_god dfm
sorry luv not love but love works
we get charged for 'teller assist'
:-D
hmm, no country, either. :o/ now?
:-)
lordy lordy
yeah, there we go.
well the banks have to earn all the $$$ so they can pay out all those bonuses to their execs.
that is nice you forced it to say universe
I'm hoping Dr.G sanitises input, I don't even want to try putting something with an apostrophe in to TamperData...
off you go Luv
but now i am wondering if your messing around is not the cause of yesterday *crosses arms and taps foot giving dfm a suspicious look*
(psst... Luv, say "boni", it'll keep you out of the PB.)
oops, forgot-well hope there's some good chocolate in the PB
jmc, I've been playing around since three days after I got Pro ;o)
ty luv!!
yes, well, that is what worries me
always glad to help jmc
what *will* (possibly) break it is putting an apostrophe in there -- I don't want to try!
well have to get going, well come back for the remaining 17 later. Take care all
the HTML for my flag icon is <img width='20' height='12' align='absmiddle' alt='the universe' src='/flags/the_universe.gif'>, that's all, perfeectly harmless...
bye luv
bye Luv!
can someoen put me out of my misery and clue the 4th TR 5/10?
Yay, I just got a 'new ruler'
bye Luv
one that measures lynxx?
or one that governs?
measures I think
4.tr5/10 is a test. Or what happens in a courtroom.
new ruler? o.0
ne7.36
I really must be going. . .
haha... didn't see it that way
ahhhh! thanks!
bye jmc
. . .bye *poof*
bye jmc!
clues please for the 3 x re6/18's please??
anybody please???
Two of them are to do with having visual sight of something again, the other is to have bad feelings about something.
I always see the third as "to mail again" >.<
hi Haz
Hi Haz! :o)
Hello, lynxxx and everyone.
heeey
That would really be to have mailed again - for accuracy's sake, dfm.
Haz! La Spanglettinellarina!
so, short technical interview. I either wowed or failed miserable, not sure which :)
here's hoping wowed. He seemed surprised that i answered the last question correctly.
Ata! Hobbitellinerrindingdongdellpussisinth ewell.
you wow us anyway DC - but good luck
thanx Haz...yer a saint......Alexander is home with stitches......but still smiling!!
I hope pussisnt!
Good, Flask, I was wondering how he was doing. Best wishes for a full recovery for him - and for your nerves!
hi dc! Hoping it was a "wow" too! :o)
Oh thankyou....:-)
ty, dfm
*is wondering whether idiosyncratically pluralising "box" to "boxen" would be a good idea for an e-mail to everyone at this worksite*
Does anybody else understand?
nope - I asked him before to speak English
Just checking. You comfort me.
he's trying to be clever
(he's succeeding!)
evening all just got back so i dont think i will finish tonight
here locally, it's Oxon, not Oxen, in our place names.
Aw Flask, so glad to hear Alexander is doing better.
hi Kazz
Hello, Kazzer.
depends if the users are Linux geeks, dfm
This is taking way too long and I must go do other stuff - BBL
surprises me when I see stranger stuff in company e-mails too... I think I've se4 txt, even 13375p34k o.0
It's that sort of grid - endless and strangely unsatisfying.
yes .... like endless fog
basically been trying all combos
any clues for the ai8, please? I have the oxygen + vehicle one...
The other one is oxygen and then what you don't want to happen to your balloon.
+
well that's the most peculiar word in the world.
You haven't found the au6/30 yet.
that au6 is quite something
I have it. Don't know what it means but rolls right off the tongue.
Hi all...sorry for that little hiccup a few seconds ago...am not myself, fighting with Dell for a credit, pia dog, etc. lol
I'm scrolling through the word list, and I reckon we could have quarter, semis and finals for the weird word contest in this grid.
hello friends! ((haz))
Hey Stiddie
Hello, stidmama.
NANCY BOY!!!!! *many hugs and much choclit and a few stern mama looks*
hi stiddy!
Hello, Stiddy :)
hi stid! :o)
ohhh no, not the stern mama looks ;)
hey atalante! how's your leg doing these days?
well you have been MIA for a loooooong time, young man! I missed you! **more hugs**
hey dfm! how is your head today?
slightly more headachey and itchy then yesterday, again :o/
getting there :) 6 months to fully better hopefully!
hm. well, be gentle with yourself dfm. head owies take a while.
sweet of you, Stid :) it wasn't by choice, believe me!
glad it's healing, atalante. Being in sedentary mode doesn't suit you.
hi all...
I am glad you are back now, Nancy boy. VERY cute icon pic, too.
hello again NB...good nap?...
hey carlee!
We all missed you NB and were hoping you were well!
hi stiddy
thanks for posting your wassail recipe. As soon as I am up from this migraine *looks around for sympathy* I intend to make some!
Ok...FIREWORKS for FLASK!!
YAY Flask!!!!
Well done, Flask! You deserve an early night.
heya, Carlee :) oh, good as they get around here - woken up every five minutes by people taking swabs, readings, cleaning...grrr
i am sipping it as i type stiddy
sending stid sympathy
*~*~*~POMPOM TOSS*~*~*~ for flask
thankyou all......Stid hope head gets better soon....g'nite all!
Sleep well, Flask.
thank you, Sea :) and thank you, Stid! it's a cousin with me in that pic - not one of the ones who talks to me, but still, it's a nice picture
Nancy boy... are you in the hospital???
woo hoo flask
sweet dreams flask!
( likely as good as mine NB...teenager got himself the new scratch sj music thingy for wii )
Hi Carlee. Mmm, sipping Wassil. NB, glad to hear you're getting some rest. Rest heals. I'm also very glad you're back. You were missed.
In the hospital?
congrats flask!
hi carlee, mixi! :o)
scratch DJ* thingy for wii
Bingo, Stid.
hi dfm
could someone clue the au 6/30?
sending healing thoughts to NB
wait, nm!!
Sorry, I didn't know, wish you all the best
did u make some wassail too molls
*extremely worried and relieved mama look* well at least there somebody is making sure you wash behind your ears!
Nope. I'm just vicariously sipping with you. : D
au6/30 - au plus a shortened underwater boat, finish off with a vowel
u should make...tis delish
**gentle hugs, fluff pillow, extra blankie**
carlee, how do you get it to simmer not boil for so long?
Ohhhhh dear, Carlee. Can't think of anything more potentially annoying, actually! Not even the cats when they decide to play 5am football...emphasis on the FEET...they use our feet.
slow cooker
orrr, au + tabloid nickname for **san **yle, the 'hairy anglel'
on lowest setting
hmmm. mine only has two settings. low and high!
i did manage a nap tho recouping from the eclipse...
I didn't know that was the singer's nickname until today.
errr, that was 'angel'.
good for you carlee
mine has same ata...i set on low
ah ok, that I can manage! I do want to try it
I meant the end of au6, not hairy angel. Hairy angel is not so nice.
Sounds good carle, never heard of it, what is wassail?
oh! Michnick!!! (((hugs))) long time no see!
No, hairy angel was unkind. Funny the things that people come up with!
oh! one of the instruments the younger stidkid plays is in the grid!
The word Wassail refers to several related traditions; first and foremost wassailing is an ancient southern English tradition that is performed with the intention of ensuring a good crop of cider apples for the next year's harvest. It also refers to both the salute 'Waes Hail', the term itself is a contraction of the Middle English phrase wæs hæil, meaning litereally 'good health' or 'be you healthy' and to the drink of wassail which is a hot mulled cider traditionally drunk as an integral part of the wassail ceremony.

The gobtri Stid? Kidding!!!
and bichon! :-D so many lovely people here today!
Really funny take for the current season
absolutely, Molly! he was only two when he picked that one up and began playing. at three he debuted with the seattle symphony. RAVE reviews: stidkid plays gobtri at an astonishing rate!
Hi mama
Hi Stid. Hi all. I have been away for a long time too. But for good reasons, my daughter got married 2 weeks ago. (Thanks for the lesson Carle)
Hi everyone! I thought wassail had some booze in it???
read my recipe lil
woo-hoo! what a great reason, michnick!
hey monkey!
oooh, congratulations, Mich :)
Stid!!! *Mopping up water off of keyboard*
hi stiddleypoo!
cider is alcofrolic over here ...
OK carlee
Thanks. It was wild and wonderful and they are the cutest couple.
actually he was 11 with the first instrument and 12 with this one.
yummy. I don't get alcohol anymore :(
mmmm sounds good carlee!
hi bichon, lil, mich! :o)
Mich is your wordlist fine now?
hi dfmch!
Is there really such a thing as a gobtri? Why doesn't enable like it?
haha ata, you said "alcofrolic"
No, wordlist is totally MIA!!! I am so annoyed, no way I can finish like this!
hehe
that's absolutely okie-dokie fine, Nancy Boy. it is NOT good for people. I only drink here in babblonia, you know!
yes, deliberately!
I was joking, michnick -- stidkid plays a large brass instrument
Oh poor NB. Forced into sobriety. : P
Mich, go to http://www.playbabble.com/action/get_w ord_list?puzzleid=2829 and tell me what you see? (don't C/P! :oP)
Ahh, okay, I am blushing.
also, congratulations for your daughter! :o)
bichon, liked your video.
yeah, Molly. it SUCKS. looks like I'm designated driver forever. and I don't even have a car.
Grrr More frustration, my stupid kid filter doesn't let me go there. What SHOULD I see?\
kid filter? o.0
what did I miss? Whyt can't NancyBoy have a drink?
Stid, tell your kids to take up playing the world's smallest violin instead, so they can play me something suitable to go with my woes :P
wish I had a stupid kid filter... for my HOUSE! *grin*
the page should be your list of words... and if it's filtered that might be the reason... (only might, possibly not.)
I have a kid filter on my life, haha
*sigh* I fear, dear boy there is no fiddle small enough for that. *stern mama look -- wink*
Yeh, I got sucked into a internet carrier that has its own set of filters, no porn, no immodestly dressed women, no violence, etc but for some reason it doesn't like some mild mannered games.
might have to play it on a ukelele then :P
Cute lil*, how is that?
my younger kid is home, invited a friend (girl) over to see movies... I am listening in on their most amusing conversations from the safety of my room...
if you can't access that page you won't have a wordlist :o(
no kids, Michnick, and I'm thankful every day
(specifically, it's the data that generates the data in the "My Word List" pane.)
how young Stid?
erm, generates the *list.
michnick, I can put the wordlist up for you in my profile
stid I think she's missing the words that she's found :o(
This is the one I call "stretch" who can reach the top of the kitchen cabinets without getting on tiptoe... long arms. Hold on, will put up the icon with him in it.
You wouldn't want a lovely offspring like MOI, Lil M? : 0
Uniquity!
oh no way! {no offense, Uniquity}
UNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
hi uniquity! :o)
My goodness...Isn't it midnight out your way Haz???
Got it lil*. Right, the word list that is missing is the words I have already found today. I only have 112 left to go but who remembers the first 290 or so that are lost???
And Ata! Huzzah!
It's almost 1 AM here. I should turn in anyway.
No, it's still earlyish. Nearly 11.
Lil M, I would be sooo easy. I'm already house trained.
mich, can you bounce or proxy through another ISP?
*faint* uniquity????
Noooooooooooo thank you, Uni :)
Hmm, my time zone skills have yet to improve. I go to bed at 10 pm though, so I think 11 is late.
Hi Stiddy!! : )
Probably dfm, but I am too tired to start fiddling.
is MOM here????
You're forgiven. How nice to see you!
<-- goes to bed between 0300h and 0600h :oS
Merry Christmas to all so inclined! : )
Hey uniq, why are you up for adoption? I might take you, my house feels empty with one daughter married and 2 boys in dorms.
and to you and Lorikins!
must go play tennis. bbl to finish last 21 words.
Mum is likely at home playing video games. We have yet to unite for the season. My big girl job only gives me 25 through 28 off, so I get in at 11 on Friday.
okay, there is stidkid and tom
Kind of with you there, Lil. I love children but think if I had to spend any large amount of time with them, I'd go crazy. Toddlers are just like tiny drunk people.
And to you as well. Are you making millions?
well she should be here!
Mich, I've got so many Mamas. The world works together to take care of me ;)
NB, have you heard Dylan Moran's lovely rant about children being like tiny drunks? I love kids and I love Dylan Moran...I quite like it.
That's good, Good mamas are good to have, it helps to be able to pick your own. (I'll take you too NB)
later mixi!
Can see why you call him stretch Stid
bye mixi, have fun!
How old is he Stid? Looks like he
Not exactly millions...I have been drooling over all the lawyers' gifts though. The more you make, the more likely people are to give you free things. Life lesson, Haz, I swear.
yep. that was in the play this past fall, he's still wearing makeup.
lawyers' gifts? :oO
I think so, Uniquity. Probably where I'm getting it from - I love Dylan Moran.
Sorry, looks like he's still growing into his height, if you know what I mean.
I don't actually give out my kids' names and ages, Mich... although the elder is now an adult, I guess I could! LOL
As long as you've got enough to keep Emma in fine style, it's plenty.
he's really skinny, yes. 30" waist, 35" inseam!
OK, I think I have a ball park idea. interesting, are you worried about stalkers?
and how is Emma??
yes, michnick, actually I am! there are scary people online.
Is stid calling us scary?
THat sounds like my son's measurements. He just graduated to a size 15 dress shirt. He was a 14 1/2 for a few years - an impossible size to find!!
I'll admit to cranky, not sure about scary.
Nah, not us HAZ, it's "others" out there.
***skulks in like a scolded puppy, ashamed at not having chatted in so long*** Olla Babblers!
Emma's lovely. Hiding somewhere as I've opened the carrier in an attempt to get her used to it before shoving her in for the trip home on friday. And Spangle, Hobbit and Sily?
yep always the "others" -- lurkers and trolls and hackers, oh my!
Lori!
hi LoriP! :o)
LORI!!!! about time!!!!
True, there are some real crazies out there...
Hazaurus! mAta Hari!
oh look who it is! LoriP!
See my restraint? Now see the opposite from Ata.
stid! dm! lil, so many faces. :)
Spangle is pretty well considering she shares her kennel with icicles these days.
and rude! I was furious at the dollar store last week...Rude people in there were driving me mad!!1 lol
I have 10 words, stirred applesauce and waiting for stidkid and grandpere to rescue Christmas tree from floor before the dyke breaks and we buy a new floor.
poor spangle -- has the snow been awful for your critters, haz? my lucky hates even a couple inches!
You aren't still making Spangle spend time outdoors?
You are right, tho mama. I don't let my kids on facebook for that reason. They don't actually get it, but I'm touch.
buy a new floor?! Do:
hello Mother! Bigger leak than you thought?
I am, Lori. It's the only way to make her see who's boss.
and yes, 14 1/2 inch neckline. He swims in his tux!
Surely Spangle is not appropriately coated and groomed for your crazy European winter!
Why post their pics, then? Doesn't that worry you?
are there any GN words? I have not listed yet.
My head is better and I am not actually being sick anymore... but still lying down is better than being up. Did you talk to Matthew yet?
ce 6/7 combo clue please
If Spangle had a proper owner, she'd not be enduring nature's elements across the Pond tthis week.
good point Michnick
The snow is the worst I've ever seen over here and it refuses to go away.
Not a bigger leak but moisture separated by thin plastic is begging for problems.
pics are harder to trace than names.
1 gn word
*looks up cost to mail haz a snowblower*
How much snow do you have Haz?
OK thanks LoriP
Stidkid is coming here first with grandpere. The door slammed on the truck now. Ready with food and drink.
hi lori
true about that. Well, I hope stidkid and gpere can get it taken care of. Will he hang with you until tom picks him up?
hey jmc!
ce 6/7 , like the middle, different vowel ending, then elaborate
We are following the weather news and it sounds like 1812 when Napoleon learned about winter weather.
I know. I've caught Spangle drafting out an advert for the pet section of the newspaper. She's trying to get herself adopted out.
hi stiddie *pooks stiddie for saying she's scary*
the last ce 6/7 lori
I didn't say you're scary jmc! (might have thought it...)
poor poor spangle
*makes scariest face possible*
'Welsh Springer Spaniel, one heartless owner, seeks new owner with GSOH and limitless supplies of food. No gruel.'
*grimaces back at jmc*
british spelling for middle maybe ru?
ce6/24+pl. ce7/36 (alt. sp) a break
Aw, tis the season. My son works at an after school day care and one of the kids there gave him a lovely holiday mug filled with nice holiday treats.
oh! RURU!!! ((hugs))
hello. ahh, I was waiting to see dfm.
Tell him not to look here, I only adopt people, and then only virtual adoptions (My hubby wouldn't let me get away with any other kind).
sorry, ce + a 4 letter grid word for certain, with an alternate last letter vowel
LORI!! Yay :D
i am surprised spangle did list no snow as a requirement
hi red, lurking un5 you were su4 I was here, huh?
"and no kennels"
oh! I got the ce 6/7! thanks!
down to 209
hey red!
well, I just got home from a looong day, but as I was about to enter chat long I saw you, thought it perfect.
mAta Hari! Hazaurus, if Spangle had a cell hone I'm sure she'd report you to the authorities.
*phone even
Spangle is welome to investigate my premises. I could love her like my own.
hey Stid...I just remembered it's the Christmas holidays. Which must mean you've survived a term (semester?) at school, huh??
She likes the snow, just resents having to shovel out her kennel every day. Doors cost extra so we opted for the fresh air variety.
been at it for about 1 hour and down to 140 - quite pleased with progress
yes, I survived, but still having nightmares... It was a less than optimal situation.
Perhaps we should put in a call on Spangle's behalf, Lori?
Uni's harsh too. Don't be fooled people, she once bathed her cat.
i wonder how hard it would be for spangle to get landed immigrant status in canada
But... I learned a lot, and looking forward to my next student teaching in the spring.
only once?
I live by water, we could smuggle her in.
I really did love being with 7th graders, though!
For sure Uni, someone needs to advocate on Spangle's behalf.
not getting it
Spangle I think, has special skills, so immigration would be no issue.
I bathed her twice in a row, the night I grabbed her out of the shed...Don't remind her though, she still has nightmares.
But they have even harsher winters in Canada.
mAta, I think it was once. Surely not twice.....
glad to hear you're looking forward to it, Stid :) most noble job in the world, if you ask me. kids are crazy. I'm still close enough to being a kid to know that for a fact..
twice in a row?
Haz, not this year...so far.
Crossy never stops telling us about shovelling 15 feet of snow every ten minutes.
you never know with uni ..
trouble with skunks?
ANd she lived to tell the tale jm!
definitely kids are crazy! I fit right in! LOL
Crossy's in Ontario, no? They've had a terrible time. NS hs been skating by.
shameless i am glad i am at work so my cat can't read this
hi folks
JMC, fleas, not skunks. Got every one of them in two flea baths and some good picking.
Where crossy lives, they make snow...... In NS it's a bit more gentle than his neck of the woods.
It's fine in North Ontario and to the west of Toronto...
cross said last week that the snow in town is so high that cars have to honk their horns when they get to intersections...
hey welki!
well, actually, we've had mostly ice up here in Ottawa :o(
hi welki! :o)
oh fleas-- i think my current cat is immune oddly enough
the chog is crowded today!
seems like we've had more words in the last two day's grids than in the last week
i am terribly allergic to flea bites
CBC Newsworld has not stopped snow in ONtario coverage in over a week. The story of the 6 month pregnant woman whose dog locked her out of a car on the road during a blizzard was a particular fave.
G'd evening welki
yup, long grid = busy chat.
you can actually watch my ankles get knobby as the fleas bite
I know, welki, measly rations for weeks and then this.
lol Uni, yes that one was a keeper.
hi welki! *waves*
I don't know if Em. minded fleas, but I sure do. She came straight from our shed, so I dealt with. Anythign that draws blood leaves me with a big bad welt.
me too, jmc! they bite me before they hit the critters!
The dog locked her out of the car? I will be sure to keep keys out of Spangle's reach.
I watched a tv prog all about NS the other day, Uni and Lori. It made me miss you both!
Hey HAz, I just popped over to youtube to see the RDA vid. THink I could ride a horse?
There's a program about NS???
thats what she gets for getting out of the car without her keys!
Really Ata?
wonder what she did to the dog?
I thought we were the only ones that knew where NS was. :)
Absolutely, Michnick, it's wonderful exercise. Did you enjoy the video?
i lose keys so fast i have learned to walk out of my house or my car looking at them in my hand
It was a pretty husky, in the pic. at least. It hit the door lock button.
all about henry Sinclair etc etc
Bear that sort of dog revenge in mind Haz, SPangle could be even more cunning.
I'm missing out on all the snowfall...
NS = No Snowland... *grin*
I loved it. I wonder if there is something similar here in Israel. Do you know of anything. I haven't walked in over 15 years!!
apparently there's been looooads of snow here.
:) stid
It can snow here all it wants, but not til Saturday onward.
we are not just ns, we are np altogether.
*wonders if spangle knows the number for the police*
could someone please try to clue the last ce 6/24 a different way?
stidkid #1 -- who is a geography buff would be hollering at me for that one.
I know there are RDA groups all over the world. If you google RDA Israel it might tell you if it's available there.

Molly - they are rather tasty, if I say so myself. LOL
hello all, back to find my last 21 words
What kind of dough do you use for the sausage rolls?
Hi peri. I might not finish our Scramble game before I go away for a week's hol. Will pick it up when I get back, if so.
Molly - it's rough puff pastry.
Resolved. I am doing those for Christmas breakfast.
it is your turn Jac and then the game is done, you will probably win this one too
Molly - unless you want to mess about making the pastry the night before, I suggest you buy ready-made 'puff pastry' then.
peri - I know I keep winning against you, but Hydra wins more against me. LOL
I'm all about ready made puff pastry.
that's ok, Jac. I have won some of the games with you. did not know hydra played. maybe she will want to play a game with me.
have fun on your holiday
I don't know hyrdra
hydra
real name
Molly - that said, then either buy a lb (one pound) of sausagemeat or a pack of pork sausages with 8 sausages in it to fill the pastry. Roll the pastry out, cut it lengthways in half and fill each length with 4 sausages. Seal with beaten egg, roll up, cut each length into 4 or 8 pieces, slash tops, brush with egg, shove in oven for 25 mins at gas mark 7.
Hydra is Lorna Read on FB, peri.
ok, that sounds good, but what is gas mark 7?
ty Jac
LOL I was wondering the same thing, joey! (((hugs))) hey all
hi stid. MC and HNY
http://www.helpwithcooking.com/tempera ture-chart.html says 425
that's great - thanks
joey - 425F or 220C.
I hope you are having a nice week, and anticipating some pleasant holidays, joey?
i have gotten some great recipes from here the last few days. I hate to say this the way it is going to sound, but since my mom died I have been able to do some cooking and baking.
stid, i am getting on a plane Christmas morning to visit with my brother in VA. staying 3 days - I hope it is pleasant
joey - I think I know what you mean.
jac, thanks for not thinking that that is a ghoulish thought.
Hi
Hi Herin.
Hi Jac
Well, joey, my Mum's never been a great cook, or even kept much food in the house, her Mum was the same. My greatgrandmother and my father's mother were cooking matriarchs, and i seem to have followed them. So, my daughter, since she's been in her own home, has now started cooking and experimenting for herself.
joey, I hope you will have a good visit!
I'm guessing the US equivalent of gas mark 7 is around 375 degrees.
I am falling asleep while trying to babble so with 114 left, I will go take a nap. back later maybe. ***hugs and choclits for all*** *poof*
I cooked because I HAD to. Daughter is perhaps now cooking because she wants to have a go at what she's learned, plus experiment, without me breathing over her shoulder, or my 'menu' getting in her way.
'Night stid.
thanks stid. sleep well
Molly - no. gas mark 7 is 425F or 220C.
Got it Jac, thanks.
too funny, jac. my mom was a good cook, no recipes just seat of her pants. she never wrote anything down, I am trying to recreate some of the things. Her mother didn't either.
Blessings to you Stid. I hope you're feeling much better tomorrow. No fun being sick during the holidays.
Good Molly, I wouldn't want you to undercook yur sausagemeat. (See what I mean about me taking over the kitchen?) LOL
My mother burns water

Molly: http://www.helpwithcooking.com/tempera ture-chart.html
joey - I've had to start writing things down, either as I'm inventing recipes or just after I've done them. In these days of internetty convos, people want recipes. LOL. Anyway, I like to know what I've done if a meal goes down well and I've always written comments or suggestions in recipe books. They are the only books I will deface by writing in, unless a book, which is far more common these days, sadly, makes an error. Sorry for split infinitive. LOL.
one of these days i will get out the recipe books and see if there are notes in any of them. I am about to the point where I enjoy eating again, it has been a while and it is time for me to get it together.
Some recipes in bought books have notes like 'burns like hell if you cook it at this temp for that long' or 'tastes like rotting entrails - NEVER MAKE IT AGAIN!' by them.
Jac Delia is notorious for leaving out ingredients.
you are too funny. thanks for sharing jac. I really appreciate it
Delia taught me to bake, and RD Cookery Year mostly taught me how to cook, Herin. I now have 30 years experience on top of all that.
Joey I find that recipes are guidelines not certain with dinners. Deserts not so much.
anyone have the pe 5/16?
Jac on one of her shows there was a recipe there was missing a key ingrediant
thanks, her
ruru. it is like the stacking game that starts with a J, but with a different last vowel, at least I think so.
Joey once a fortnight I use the left over near dead veggies in the veggie bin and make a whatevertheheck stew
rur - pe5.16 - tell the writing implement to leave?
hi Ru
thanks
Hello Babblers how is everyone tonight?
Hi Wht
thank you jac and joey.. HI herin..
congrats on the new job
Thanks Ru
Hi wht. I'm all packed and hoping to go on hol for a week with my Beloved, if snow doesn't stop travel.
Hope it is nice and hot where you are going, Jacula :-)
Hi Zoo
Doubt it, Zoom. We're going to North Devon. Might be 'hot' since we'll be on our own for once.;-)
Hello, Hwrin :-)
Good luck jac. We have friends whose daughter was supposed to come over from London last Saturday. I don't know if she has made it yet or not.
LOL, Jacula...enjoy!

Will do, zoom.

Well done godhaab.
Thanks.
Good lord is that the time 02:07am...off to bed for me...bye.
last pu 5/14?
Night zoom
same as the other pu5 before it just change the third letter.
After his nightmare to Munich (15 hours instead of about 3) + lost luggage at the end of it, my son has returned and decided he can't face trying to go to Amsterdam to spent Christmas with his g/f and her family later today. Can't say I blame him. His case and most of his favourite clothes are missing.
Herin, I just saw your link. Thanks.
No probs
last pu5.14 is nasty yellow stuff from boils or spots, perhaps, but in plural.
thanks.. it didn't look right to me
ruru - I thought it should have a double consonant in the middle.
Molly there is a few links that you can find on Google to help
Jac why did your son even try and leave England? Being all snowed in and such
Herin - he was off to the Munich Christmas Market with his sister and his Dad.
The snow had only just begun when they went.
Ok So he left England to go there or did this happen there?
It came down rapidly within a couple of hours.
The luggage was lost in Brussels where the connecting flight was made.
bugger
They got a direct flight back, but Lord knows if or when they'll see their luggage again. Son's was lost and so was his Dad's. His Dad's had a mink coat in it worth more than the insurance covers.
I hate to be mean but good. Fur is bad
but... LOSING a fur doesn't make the mink less dead, and if it causes him to buy a NEW one, then that means more dead animals, so...
My son's stuff is well-covered by the insurance, but it was his favourite trainers/walkers, that he's been all around the world in, his favourite comfy jeans, his favourite fleece etc.
Herin - re the fur - I don't like mink, either as something to wear or as an animal. The well-meaning animal rights idiots who set mink free in UK have upset our ecology and nearly exterminated our native otters.
Fur is only bad in some cases. In some countries, if you didn't wear animal skins you would die from the cold.
se9?
do you watch doctor who, jacula?
And, before you go off one one, I don't believe in clubbing seals etc. But, if an animal is killed for food, then using i's skin and fur is not so bad.
Hi Hursh. Yes, I do watch Dr. Who.
Ru I don't have it sorry
Hi Hurshy
i was just re-watching the first couple episodes of last season on DVD and, doesn't "the beast below" just make you cry? (and i do not mean this in any way related to the fur discussion - i just wanted to talk about it)
se9 - Roman money. se + consonant + i***** seatbelts. The things in cars that stop you short before you plunge through the screen on sudden braking or a crash.
Hursh that sounds like Torchwood
No,Herin. It's a Who episode. Amy's first trip into space.
I meant it sounds like a Torchwood episode with a Whale
i'm not sure that the being in that episode of torchwood was a star whale... i think it was just some other large creature.
Ok Sorry Whale thing (Can't remember )
Hursh - I can't remember crying over that episode.
not getting the seabelt part of that clue
I know sestertius is a bronze coin
crossy hides his harp seal pelts and pops into the chog!
really? i just think it's so beautiful that the star whale had volunteered, and so horrible that the humans tortured it cause they couldn't imagine such a thing... and so moving that amy could know that it was like that because she could see the same qualities in the doctor, but he can't see them in himself...
ruru - a state of inaction = in*****?
Hi crossy. Bacon sandwich do you for starters? For medicinal purposes only, re strength to do the grid, of course.
Hi Crossie
but of course,ty jacula;)
howdy herin;)
are you a vegetarian, herin?
hursh - now you come to remind me, I do remember feeling sad about that. But I didn't cry.
Hell no Hurshy why?
i don't think i cried the first time either. possibly it is more powerful when you know what's coming.
I think I remember the episode of Dr Who.
well, i just thought maybe, cause of the fur thing...
i dont eat fur myself;))))
I just don't believe in Fur unless it is done in a manner that is ethical. Same of farming.
sticks in the throat you know....
No one EATS fur, crossy. Not even my cat. He hawks it up afterwards.
lol
Jac and I guess at some time of ungodly hour of the morning on something that is hard to remove
got it jac.. finally.. thank you
so you buy all local, humanely raised products, then. probably you've been to the farms to check on their methods.
synthetics can replace all cold weather fur uses, but if i am in a place that is below minus 40,ill skin my aunt martha and not think twice lol
*pelts crossy with pelts*
:) howdy ruru
Hurshy no. But you know what brands not to touch.
if you say so...
Herin - I wouldn't know. I usually find it just after he's done it when we humans have got up about and hour before we let him out of his bedroom and have had the cheek to move about and talk. Then he gets his revenge on us by sh*tting in the litter tray and hawking up the remains of small mammals on the floor.
play nice you 2 or ill smack you both with a harp seal pelt
crossy - when the wind's blowing from the North or North East, nothing can replace an animal skin covering.
Hurshy why are you attacking me?
i often use synthetics to minus 40 jacula, the few times i have been below that farmed fox works well
JAC isn't it usually in a spot you tread on too (my too do)
Incidentally, all this cat talk reminds me of the last paragraph of a letter I received from an old schoolfriend earlier. It's about her cat.
i am not attacking you... i am exploring.
the little dabs of wihter you get in the U.k can be managed very easily though
My friend's cat is called Timmy and he was last in line in the annual letter to say what the last year had been like for him.
winter
Hurshy. I wont buy meat at Safeways as they were done for animal cruelty. I buy my fruits from a local organic store when in season. I try and do what I can with what I can afford.
I agree with hunting for food
This is what he said, 'Timmy is pleased to report a good year, in which the human staff have come on well in accordance with his trianing programme, while visiting humans have mostly been the kind of people who understand a cat's rights over certain cushions, the importance of regular meal times and which particular look mans 'Open this door', or 'Kindly keep the noise down'. Though there is of course, always room for improvement...'
snow is so high here, people who have small dogs cannot walk them for their nightly constitutional, they just open the window, hold them out at arms length and squeeze...
LOL, crossy.
:)
hello all
crossy, I hear you like bacon?
howdy t&c
i do have a passing fancy for it:)
Hush - yes, the vomit is usually just right where you tread before you look.
Hi TC
I made bacon caramel corn the other night
mmmmmm

http://the-cooking-of-joy.blogspot.com /2010/02/bacon-caramel-corn.html
The recipe I've seen is bacon, bourbon caramel corn.
ty T&C
you bet - we even popped the popcorn in the bacon grease
I am so going to have a tanty with these U words
girl after my own cogealed heart
I was chatting about it and EVERYONE told me I had to tell you all about it
I remember that Tea - and I said I only like buttered popcorn.
Why do I have to do a fruit platter on Christmas :(
of course, all good bacon ideas end up at crossys, one day ill put them all into a collection for all the babblers;)
it turned out pretty good
Crossy may well like the bacon one, though. Glad you caught up with him to give him the recipe.
pe 5.16 please
we had enough to put a decent sized bag in everyone's basket and have some left for us, too.
Can someone clue the first ce6,24 please?
I can clue the 'u' words if needed.
nm
Herin - what do you mean, re having to do a fruit platter?
Make one
very nice indeed.see how bacon unites the world?? it,s the perfect food!!:))
first ce6.24 is ce4.5 + the *nited *tates of America
wht - ce4 with 'not them but **' at the end.
my vegetarian frineds call it the gateway meat ;)
What would you rather be bringing Herin?
pe5/16?
I need help with the first pe 6/24 please
lol@ the gateway meat
ty jac
writing stick + opp of stop, kje
pe 5 writing implement + not stay
Herin - yes, I know you have to make a fruit platter, but why do you have to? Also, why do you object?
writing implement + not stop kje
anyone have the first pe 6 please
ty
ruru. thought of you -- keller's nyc restaurant is here!
writing stick + ***imate sacrifice
yes it is!
Because I am the bunny that got nominated to do it. I don't want to because of extra cost and I make much better cakes
haven't listed yet.. my first pe is to annoy
ruru - the first pe6 usually ends in 'imate' and means the one before the last one.
Hi Dorens and LB
penult
sorry
whoops!
that would be it, kje
good clue kje
hi herin and everyone else, and thanks for that pe6
Great clue Jac.
So, Herin, what does fruit platter mean where you are? A bowl of fresh fruit or a dessert made with fruit?
hi herin, just a quick pop in, must head for pillows now. see you all tomorrow, i hope
aytime... just ask
Hi Dorens
ty kje,i would of never got that one;))
en 8?
trying to decide if it's too late to get on the exercise bike for cardio... give me an excuse to not do it, please?
Um Platter as in plate with fruit on it
en8 = your insides
en8 is guts
thank you
used in historic ovels... the sword fight left his en8 all over the floor
At the moment a lot of the seasons fruits are very expensive due to the rains. And I like cooking
Herin - just fruit then? Nothing done to or with it? What's the problem then? Nothing to cook or burn, or go wrong. Or is it that fresh fruit is not available or not cheap to buey?
*buy, I meant.
Herin - then use frozen fruits. Make a Summer pudding o a fruit pavlova or something.
A lot of our seasonal fruits are expensive. We had a good crop then it got damaged by rain.
i need two more and can't find either. the en 8/40 and the se 9. I have seen many clues for the se, but obviously i am dumb tonight and haven't gotten any of them. Please help. thanks
No they want a plate of fruit (head desk) I don't burn things either. I am a goo cook
Joey. Guts Plural (singular it doesn't take)
en8/40 has just been clued, joey. Your insides, guts.
thanks. got it. now just the se. Jac, I have seen your seatbelt clue and I am dense
my school had a very nice breakfast yesterday..... everyone brought stuff.. I made a nice egg casserole thing with italian sausage, sundried tomato, basil, mozzarella cheese... others baked goodies, there were quiches, etc. and then i saw someone come in with a plate of mini hershey's chocolates, kisses etc. I was aghast! how does one have the nerve to do that, then eat all the food folks slaved over?
well, Herin, just give them what you can afford to do. And if that's not fresh fruit, so be it. They'll get over it.
O yum Dorens
The best clue I saw for se 9 today was...sounds like female sibling running into a Spanish aunt.
ok, i'm done venting... will get back to being the nice friendly counselor again. herin, just do your best, and it will be fine, i'm sure
doren - how was the casserole... my sister wants me to bring an egg casserole something for xmas but I do not have a recipe
What the hell's going on there anyway? Is it a meal where everyone has been told what they've got to contribute? How horrible!
au 6 please
i liked it kj... will find a link and post it.
bacillus au6 - a bacteria that causes food poisoing, often due to undercooked rice
ruru - gold coin of ancient Rome.
anyone?
I just clued it, ruru.
Dorens I would at least go to a bakery if I was too slack to do anything
or inept
So did kje.
thanks dores
http://tinyurl.com/2be4g6z
got it. firewords. thanks for all the help
woohoo joey!
Well done, joey.
changes i made... added about a tsp of dried basil to the fresh parsley.... added about 1/4 c. grated parmesan as well.... and it took 5 - 10 minutes longer to bake
yay joey!
is the au 7 related?
Ruru...that golden glow around you, but change the last letter and not you, but you and I, which is **
thaks, will look at it
ruru - no - it's very penny-pinched and stark.
au7 - decoratively sparse
Dorens that looks tastey
Is there an Au 8?
no
I don't eat eggs
first time i made it herin, but i trusted the recipe... good ingredients. several did ask for the recipe, I'd do it again for that sort of occasion
if i ever have to bring anything to a event or gathering,i am pretty much left to my own choices because everyone know that if they try to ask for something specific,i will show up with something with bacon in it anyways lol
*save the chickens*
herin - don't stress over the fruit platter thing. Take a cake or a pudding. Christmas is supposed to be pot-lucka nd fun.
I wouldn't wear eggs either
fireflies finally
i eat eggs,i eat the chicken..everything but the beak and the feet lol
i always hated eggs growing up.... gagged at the thought of them... but learned that omelets are good and have branched out from there. still don't go for fried, scrambled, soft boiled
*throws eggs at ru*
hi all. just here for a sec
they look kinda good on you, you may want to reconsider
I got asked. I just hate the feeling of feeling inferior. Trust me issues with his sister and all. Sun shines out her ass
Yah WIld
you don't get the yolk kje
yay wildcat
Herin - not sure if that's your self-esteem issue or something you've been made to feel. As I said, take what you're best at to the meal and they can like it or lump it!
allright, so no one told me it's too late to get on the exercise bike.. does that mean i have to?
I do
yuck yuck yuck
I am thinking both Cheese and fruit. I can make something look pretty.
it's too late doren ... save it for tomorrow
Oh, and Herin, DO NOT explain or apologise about what you arrive with.
I have 100 left and this feels like glue
herin, no one can make you feel inferior, come on now! (and thanks lisa!)
I know.
Dorens - you can't possibly get on the exercise bike at the moment because you are busy talking to us.
fruit and cheese is a good idea... go for it!
how's weed been doing kje.. haven't seen her
I like the fruit and cheese idea
Dorens, you can get your cardio the next time you have to shovel your walk.
lap top fits on the ledge between the handlebars, i could do it
I have an amazing Rosemary and Parmasan cheese cracker recipe
Fruit, cheese and some crackers. V. good.
she is doing great - just busy elsewhere
as bratty as ever
oh, that would go well with fruit.... and you will certainly shine for having made them
oh.. doesn't she love us anymore?
Herin - you're on your way to the dish then.
o, she says you are all horrid ad she refuses to come back
se9?
I am also making shortbread, candied walnuts and lemon butter as presents. Including that with my dads wooden bowls that he sent
gonna run hagn e1

Herin - you're a queen of a guest. You don't need to do more.xxx
that is
brb - gingerbread beeping
AAwww Jac.
I do hope that the white top I am going to wear doesn't say hello to something stainy (I am a grot)
smells deloverly
Herin, while you're making lemon butter, do you think you could run me up a pat of rum butter for my mince pies I'm having on holiday? I forgot to make some and there's no point in buying some 'cos Beloved doesn't like it.
KJE you made Gingerbread men?
Rum butter? Not heard of that on
gingerbread
yeah.. probably pornographic gingerbread men too
ty ru - that worked
gingerbread - not cookies
As in cake or cookie?
cake
Herin - never wear a top for a meal out that doesn't match the colour of the food you are eating. This is a lesson I learned long ago, even though my frontispiece isn't that fronty.
gingerbread is good... hard sauce for it?
KJE Cake is yummmmmy
one word left....help on the up6?
jac isi right herin.. white is NOT a good idea
*drinks hard sauce*...leaves bread
Jac It is Christmas I thought I may actually wear something other than black
si7?
up + past tense of send
I do not know hard sauce... what is hard sauce?
Herin - rum butter = * 4oz (110g) unsalted butter * 3oz (85g) dark brown muscovado sugar * 4 tbsp dark rum Mix together and store in the fridge.
ty ruru!
mmmm... loving that rum butter
plural of si5/12 kje
plural kje.
mmmm rum butter.....
oops - duh, ty
se9?
hard sauce???
butter, sugar, brandy... the rum butter might work
http://tinyurl.com/2epemvr This is the dress I am going to wear with a tshirt over it
Hard sauce in Mexico is tequilla
lol,i just eat the worms....
don't really know why it is called hard sauce... makes no sense... what sys jacula?
A tee-shirt OVER it?
ah to be young an skinny herin
WHY?
love them algave worms...
yep.
I have this really pretty laced tshirt to wear over it.
Mix I am not skinny by any stretch of the imagination
tequila does ot have worms
Dorens - I assume because it's not a pouring sauce. Just a guess.
mescal has worms...
makes sense
likely b/c it has alcohol, thus hard
certain brands have a single algave worm in the bottle kje
not real tequila
Jac because it is a Christmas lunch not a beach affair.
kje - I never thought of it that way. You may well be right.
i know tequila
i know tequi;a
think the rum butter is similar to hard sauce actually
and it is going to be hot on Sat :D
that kje.. she picks up on stuff quickly...
i like both explanations
well lets get a case of it,get together and discuss it kje lol
*throwsd more eggs*
wish it were hot here
Is there no list?
have you had much rain ru?
ducks and eggs head toward doren
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi min

it's pouring here doren
Never mind my Expert was being silly
There is a list Herin.
Hi MIn
Herin - can't you find a floaty long blouse to go over it, rather than a tee-shirt? Oh heck! Now I sound like I do while I am trying to give fashion adivce about how to look feminine to my tomboy sstepdaughter.
My favorite word today did not come from this fussy grid. It came from Jac. Frontispiece. That is such a keeper.
howdy min and welcome to the grid;))
i'll take the eggs
eggsactly dorens
how is the stepdaughter jac? haven't heard much about her lately
Molly - why, thank you. I am flattered.x
Jac the tshirt has lacy arms it is very pretty and girlly and I am going to wear heels
Hello crosshair! Thanks!
i will want to see pictures herin...
Herin, I get silly and I'm, no expert.
peewee herman had a frontispiece but he got arrested for it
Herin - that sounds okay, so long as you do not fall off the heels like Sandra Bullock did in Miss Congeliality/
:D Wht
Ruru, wasn't that a codpiece?
Platform wedges. Trust me I have to be careful in the work shoes I have or there is that
lol.. yep .. I suppose
well, the codpiece IS in front
i will not wear a codpiece..too easy to get sacked! lol
Dorens - Step has been doing her best to get on with life here. Wasn't helped by getting a nasty text from her mad mother on the eve of her 26th birthday, last week.
ah.. she is lucky to have you really
<---crossy loves getting sacked.. don't let him fool you
She's now staying with her Gran (Mum's Mum) and Step-grandad for Christmas. Just after she'd decided that she wouldn't see or talk to her Mum for a while, she gets derailed by her grandmother telling her her Mum's coming for Xmas dinner and Grandmother wants them to 'talk'. She wants to come home!
I meant on the eve of her 16th NOT 26TH, birthday, btw.
just saw your answer ru. saw something on the news this morning about the torrential downpours in LA, but they said the whole state is in trouble.

ty!
i'm still not sure how 6 turned into 18.
I have managed to put off the 2008 new year's letter until now. I am thinking of writing a little something, if only to give distant friends a heads-up about upcoming graduation events.
doesn't help that i have a ton of fabric, so my only pocket expense is the flax seed!
