Thanks

Hello, anad Happy New Year to everyone.
Happy New Year to you as well Christine
hello, how many words today please?
181 sami
thanks FM :D
yw :)
morning all! technical question: how can you be in the chat but not know how many words?
If you don't become Pro you lose the Tile and Word Stats after 2 weeks trial Jayk
but you can still do chat? how odd!
Always been like that, woulld be terrible if non Pro could not chat as well - what would happen to kids for example
ah, good point!
and how's what the mercifully former president bush calls Austria this morning?
well this evening is pretty nice - cool evening after a pretty perfect warm day
sounds lovely!
We have been very fortunate in this corner of Australia this Spring & Summer - lots of rain to reduce the chance of bush fires and happily none of the massive floods they are having up in Queensland
wreek
oh dear, sorry
so am I - didn't take!
but it's a nice grid today, isn't it?
Yes - similar to yesterdays
anyone here?
I need the left-hand L word for NBT
hi LilM
hi Lynxxie
it may be the french money li4.4 (bit hard to tell what comes from where)
li5, sings
you mean the Italian money? I have that
oh thank u marily, that was it
DUH! I hate missing a plural like that
yay NBT!
gotta leave for work now
*poof*
have a good day...
Happy Tuesday, Babblers
hi Aloy
your granddaughter Aloy?
hi lynxxx.. this grid is going quickly, no complaints.. yes, our 3 yr old granddaughter with eggnog on her lip (-:
can't find my old icon, sigh..
should have saved it on this laptop
she is very pretty, going to be stunning when she grows up, such a lovely shaped face and gorgeous eyes
hazel eyes with huge lashes.. shade of green changes. She is lots of fun, also a handful.. spunky one
your icon gives me a great idea..
of course, she gets it all from your side of the family
what is that?
took a pic of some sculpture that took my breath away.. and I will upload that.. your icon is beautiful, so thanks for the inspiration
TY just bought it the other day, hope when it arrives I will still like it!
wow.. how large is it?
only18 cm (from memory)
just lovely.. where are you going to put it?
(bought online, haven't actually 'seen' it yet
and does it have a name?
just on the mantle
where do you buy something like that online Lynxxx?
No! that'll be fun to work one out.
We have an online auction place here that sells everything from fresh meat to wine and art pieces - some as high as $70,000! It is a tad addictive
ooh, so you bid on it? must have been nail-biting if so
This piece is a bronze finish only (on resin) - only a couple of people bidding - so my final bid was only $45 - including delivery and comm about $75. Quite cheap
for something that will give you so much pleasure.. when will it arrive?
I bought an oil a while ago - started out at $80 and 2 of us bidding got it up to $250. But I won and I am very pleased with it - even though others are quite shocked
morning gang
hi Legend
Hi Al
probably in a couple of days - it is quite quick. My daughter also bought a small oil portrait of a soldier which should arrive at the same time
hi Legend
exciting (-:
It is - haven't been disappointed yet - maybe with a couple of wines but even the majority of those have been very good - and very cheap! like $3-$4 per bottle delivered. No complaints
ooh, just found the Tiny Tim word, now I have the tulip song in my head
TY!
(-: are you humming with me?
perish the thought, he always 'concerned' me
yes, know what you mean
ok, I'm done.. will bbs to test my new icon.. maybe someone will know the name of the statue, bc I forgot to write it down..
it was in the Louvre
I must get to bed but I shall look out for it tomorrow. Bye Aloy. Bet Ata will know
bye, lynxxx.. sweet dreams
Psyche revived by Cupid's Kiss
By Antonio Canova.
good morning, my dear babble friends!
Haz! tyvm.. I didn't think it worked
how did you know that?
Good morning, Trif. You're welcome, Aloy, google came to the rescue.
but how do you google a pic?
wow haz! how do you do it? google an image?
hi Trif
You can google images. Go to google, type in what you're looking for and press images. Voila!
I know how to google images...what I mean is, can you enter an image and have google search the photo?
amazing.. i am impressed!
I googled statue louvre, the cupid thing caught my eye, tried the images and there it was.
wow! (-:
I need to get commissions from Google now as well as morewords and paypal. Google images is great, really good for icons.
oh, I see. I knew how to do that. I thought maybe there was some amazing way to enter the jpeg and google would find it for you. that would be helpful, wouldn't it? Still, I give you FULL marks, haz - well done!
aloy, I can "see" your icon, but it's HOOOOOOG
will have to explore that
Thank you, thank you. Anything more technical and I'm lost.
??? too big? how do I shrink it?
Haz, I hear you! Most days I am barely allowed things with points, let alone a plug
maybe I'd best go find a new icon on Google images
actually, haz, I was hoping to see you today - have a dog advice question, if you wouldn't mind?
Aloy, try going to some of the goodle images, save a jpeg to your own pictures and then upload it as an icon. That's what I tend to do.
Fire away, Trif.
okie dokie.. ty again Haz.. you have made my day
do you walk spangle on a lead, or is she (he?) running fr4 most of the time?
hi ho hi ho , its off to Google I go.. poof
She's on a lead, only let off where there is no traffic.
see, indy, the new puppy, is doing okay on lead training, but only just. He is mostly soft on the lead, but does have a tendency to stop and try to shake the collar/lead off every now and then. Any advice?
Persistence, Trif, it takes time.
it seems to happen mostly when he suddenly becomes aware he has a collar and lead on, and then he backs up and tries to lose it
What age is he?
nine weeks. Due to his young age, he is still on a cloth collar and lead, and mostly I want him to just get used to them. Would not dream of using a links collar on such a young pup
He's still only a baby, we wouldn't have been using a lead for maybe another few weeks until 2nd vaccinations. He'll be fine eventually.
Morning/afternoon all
Hello, FM.
thank you haz. I don't walk him too often on the lead other than just around the yard, of course. I live so far in the woods, I would be afraid a coyote would run off with him
good morning fm.
Hello! House is filling with the smell of chicken stock cooking, mmmmm.
Bad coyote!
indy starts puppy kindergarten soon, how cute is that? and YUM Fm! What time shall we arrive, then?
you just said a mouthful there, haz! They ate all my chickens last summer, the little knackers
less than an hour Trif :) indy sounds so sweet!
hmm....have to find a rocket with a empty seat, fm
I'm going to have hot and sour soup with noodles when it is ready and then freeze the rest for future recepies
Indy is SO so so sweet, and so far quite smart. Of course, careful eye is necessary. he charms every one he meets, and was the absolute shining light of our christmas dinner
do you live alone, fm?
I blissfully do Trif.
and you are in the grid today but not valid unfortunately.
I think you do very well to freeze things and such. I used to be so awkward at cooking for just me. I would get a craving for something weird like lentil loaf, and mourn the fact that I had another seven portions to contend with, after the craving. Freezing is such a blessing, isn't it?
:)
I love my freezer, such a boon.
Haz's freezer is full of scrumtious puddings and desserts.
The freezer is the only way of stopping food being eaten.
hmm. I need to make up some baguettes this weekend and freeze them. My bread flour is getting a little long in the tooth, and I have a new pot of yeast to go through
I've tried most hiding places, it's the only one that works.
lol. Did the phones quieten down in the end yesterday Haz?
Cleaner has been today and order has been restored in the FM household.
I answered the phone 64 times between 9 and 5, it quietened down in the evening, thank goodness.
I had a friend who bought a bunch of frozen broccoli, in a box, and quickly used it in a soup, but kept the box and hid pops and chocs and things for herself for YEARS in the freezer, and the kids never found them. I greatly admired her cleverness
good grief 64 times! you really should get a messge system set up. Brill Trif.
I know. Easter will be worse.
When isEaster this year, early or late?
It's very late - 24 April.
not to pry, haz, but what is up? everything okay?
april 24th is very good news for us here in the frozen climes of new england.
might even get to wear womanly shoes on easter morning, vs. the more traditional snow boots
Womanly shoes you mean dainty things with heels .. tries to remember what they look like opposed to boots and trainers.
24th april? might as well roll it into christmas lol
lol frog
LOL fmitch. Its always so funny around here - they sell all the expected easter frilly dresses for little girls and such, and we just roll our eyes.
well, believe it or not here in liverpool I saw easter eggs on the shelf yesterday. how ridiculous is that?
old joke: what is a New England woman's dream lingerie? Something provocative, with feet
and one supermarket had a summer range in - including bbqs - in this weather!!!
Haz's husband is a vet as you know and yesterday the surgery phone was diverted to their house phone with lots of people phoning to ask if they were open or not Trif.
isn't that a mystery frog? we once had the crazy idea to buy a sled for the kids in January, and could not find ONE. Could have bought them 10 swim suits, though
oh, I see. Didn't know that, thanks fm
glad to see it isn't just the UK retailers that are bloody mad
well, they do call us NEW England, frog....
soon we will see valentines stuff alongside easter eggs in the supermarkets.
you should try us here in old england - i guess we started you all off with our eccentricities lmao
its the baby Jesus in the manger next to jack o'lanterns that really chap me
you did indeed, frog
and I do apologize about the wasted tea
sorry for that america xxx
ahh, see now the tea thing i can live with, being a coffee person
Last year they had Halloween and Guy Fawkes/fireworks and Christmas stuff all out at the same time.
I can forgive England almost everything. EXCEPT: s club seven. sending us that was JUST MEAN
ROFL!
well you sent us liberace!!!
seriously frog? You just compared liberace to s club seven?
and I think poland is originally to blame for liberace
fair enough - moot point
oh thanks very much poland!!!
I wasn't a huge liberace fan or anything, but I will give him two points over S club, anyway, as he actually had talent, and was entertaining
actually, to be fair, america has sent many wondrous things our way, and i apologise, personally, for s club 7
and kept so many costumiers employed.
on behalf of america, thank you
lmao
oooh, actually - we sent you the beatles!!!
we can take back gwyneth paltrow, if you want
oh deffo!!!
we have enough water here without any more!!!
but you need to take posh back in return. kind of a prisoner exchange, if you will
omg do we have to?
I draw the line there.
becks yes
im with mitch
honestly, that one! she is basically just an oxygen thief
is that why she cant smile?
no that'll be the botox.
a right load of in my opinion
I know, right? couldn't she just hire someone to smile for her?
and spend money????
actually, I should let you all know - the lottery here is now at $292 million, and I actually did buy tix for the kids and I....I promise, after I am stinking rich I will still be friends with all of you
much more important things to lavish their cash on - like the spoilt kids - ahem!
Time for me to return to the kitchen and check on the soup.
I've never understood all the Posh adoration. The woman looks like an alien with silicone breasts.
she's the one that should have been called scary
good morning molly my dear! I already checked - we are safe from rein today! :)
LOL frog!
Thanks Trif, one less to puzzle over.
Posh is a walking bobble-head doll. but the woman DOES have great hair. :) mornin all!
morning mrs foster!
mornin. :)
wig! wig! wig!
I see six people were in the PB at the very start of doing this grid..LOL
zooz, it took me a full minute to figure that out...gosh, I am sllooow today
I still don't get it
lol..only just found the word myself..so thought i would go and check..lol
can you all keep a secret?
no
but tell us anyway
Go for it.
lol, Frog
for the first time I am really not too jazzed about going in to work today. I am so glad I have a job, don't get me wrong, but lately all my students have been doing the exact same thing, and it's getting pretty darn boring.
omg! throw a sickie! go for it!
it's on me to switch it up, and I know over a year without getting bored must be a pretty good run, but sigh. Not looking forward to this week
can't do, frog. No work = no pay
err, cant help you then. sorry
What word put six people in the PB?
molly -- what word do some people post as soon as the grid changes?
fl4 Molly
trif -- can you come up with a new lesson plan or activity that would be out of the ordinary? something to jazz things up a bit and get the students (and yourself) excited?
Oh, Zoom is talking about this morning. I thought he was talking about right now. Mea culpa.
I could, eva, and I should. and I probably will. when i get there. a lot of it has to do with the students I have today, too. two of them HATE coming, and don't want to be there, and I laugh to myself, thinking if they say "I don't want to be here today!" I might answer too quickly "me either!" and then where would we be?
what age group is it?
See, this is why I don't read the archives much. Someone posts at eight minutes after midnight, they are halfway done. I don't get that kind of brilliant.
How many words today please??
181 total, DTins
Tyt
today i have one 13 year old who thinks she runs the place, one 11 year old who is so genetically kecked up he is a carnival ride of behaviors to address, and one 6 year old - ahem - BRITISH boy who pouts and calls me a bitch repeatedly for the hour I have him.
see? not the most enticing day, is it?
what do you do that you have such a variety of ages?
You have all those ages in one class..wow
I am a clinician in a stand alone learning center
have you had a chat with the parents? bad attitudes are one thing, but that sort of language shouldnt be allowed, surely?
thank GOD tomorrow I have my favorite student - with her I do either shakespeare or french, and we always have a BLAST as she also fil5 me in on all sorts of dramz with boys and mean girls and generally cracks me up
no, i haven't evan. he is just doing it to be naughty, and I would be even more inclined to let it go if he could at least spell it right.
its fine, I am just grousing. no one's work is fun every day, is it? that's why they call it WORK after all....
bbl
heh, my work is almost never fun. thankfully i have a great group of coworkers... but its always nice to hear suggestions on how to change things around... something to get your brain working differently...
what do you do for work eva? I jsut realized I dont' actually know....
software/application testing for a government contract. not amazing interesting, so i like to think of it as i break stuff for a living -- then i get a little more excited. :)
oooh, like a mythbuster! very fun!
now I am consumed with paranoia that all my bosses are babbling this morning, and I am way busted
good afternoon all :)
mornin sprite. :)

bacon weave, bacon weave...
any other canadians on yet??? see that fab game last night?
am trying to finish my lunch sprite but it is getting cold with all the greetings needed :)
is it curling season already carlee?
sorry, no, carlee. What game are you refering to?
you are so practical, FM :)
what a nice grid!
*grin*
curling? Isn't that that odd game where they hurry to use a broom before a heavy balllike thingy?
canada vs US in world junior cup hockey..can won 4-1 in semifinal...in buffalo...and the crowd in the arena was 80% canadian
yes thats the one sprite.
curling has really cught on in popularity
ahhh sounds exciting if you like hockey
am sorry, it only makes me laugh.
sounds likeyou really enjoyed yourself, carlee
i blame america for that, bichon. of course any sport that you can weigh 300 pounds and still compete will catch on here
must clean the ice, must clean the ice!!
curling is awesome
love curling! there is so much strategy envolved in it
the firefighter on the canadian team during olympics....i think...caught alot of eyes
Suddenly had a inage of HAz out on the ice with her hoover and duster!
I totally don't get curling. It looks so... pathetic!
lol FM
and Haz would get the job done in no time
strategy? Ok, this is interesting, lol. I'd clean the ice before a game, though ;)
he was rather enticing carlee
Haz would do great
and team norway with their pants....love those pants
I think I would be great as the third gal in the four person bobsled. how hard can that be?
they made a fashion statement for sure
Trif, you should be first. I will hide behind you :D
oh fooey, phone ...
first time I saw curling on TV I thought somebody was doing some kind of parody on some other sport.
gads, a memory stirs.....in junior year of high school, studying the ancient olympics, and the teacher told us the original olympics were held in the nude...to which the boy behind me yelled out "oh GROSS, the bobsled!" An image that still makes me laugh today....
I have never seen curling...is it like hockey?
that's very funny sprite
curling has been pretty popular here but now is getting HUGE
except with brooms and an iron
lol @ nude in the bobsled
I know....what a funny image!
sounds chilly, sprite
I seriously thought so, rubyfoo!
its like shuffle board on ice with a big granite stone you slide on the rink
very good discription carlee
when our teacher told us the same, I said I would probably have liked watching sports back then.
any of you who can find the movie men with brooms....rent it one night..bloody hillarious..and so typical of canadian humour
thanks, carlee, visualizing that on a cruise ship
got nbt but not half and have to go. See you later
got nbt but not half and have to go. See you later
{{everybody}}
bye bye rubyfoo bye bye rubyfoo
take care Ruby
i suspect curling was invented by a very bored, very frustrated, and probs very poor snowbound canadian mom back in the day. she couldn't take one more day in with the kids, so she shoved them out the door with what she had on hand - a rock, a broom, and their shoes, and told them to go play
And Annie, they run like mad with brooms to clean the ice just in front of the ball.
i believe it is scottish... but the stones for the game are now pretty much exclusively made in canada
very funny Trif, probably not too fr from the truth
sounds like a reasonable explanation. I bet she told them not to come back before sundown too.
thats why soccer/football is the most popular sport in the world -- it is the cheapest to play. all you really need is a ball. the goals, padding, etc are nice, but not necessary, so even the poorest countries can play.
hearing it is scottish in origin makes me even more sure, if my grammy serves as a model
kids here use their coats for goals.
Funny especially the cleaning the ice before the stone
a sport that is very hard for me to take seriously. But then, most sports are :)
if we're talking origins of curling, the theory is that it originated in Holland
Hooray, fireworks
I have never seen anything like it here, frogface, except sjoelen. But no brooms or ice for sjoelen.
wtg Annie!
ooo wtg annie
congrats, Annie!
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for 1953 :)
mind you i am trusting google for my information lol
just googled too and yes, some do say it comes from boulders - bolders. More Flemmish than Dutch though.
Curling is thought to have been invented in medieval Scotland, with the first written reference to a contest using stones on ice coming from the records of Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, in February 1541.
oo-er that told me
several paintings from the old times with curling-like games going on, indeed. In Holland. Wow, who knew.
only going by what google says lol
me too - perhaps we'd have more success if we asked wikipedia lmao
hmmm big tall strong scottish man in a kilt....bent over sweeping....
okay, can't put it off any more. have to get ready for work. but I am most sorry to leave you all....
no doubt though that the scots made it into the game it is now
CARLEE!
later trifs
have a good day at work
aw Trif, hate to see you go. Have a good day!
am right with carlee
bye trif, hope you have an easy day
will go off laughing over the image of the bent over scot. does keep in the spirit of the original olympics, though!
and we know what they wear under their kilts :p
yep. We should get rid of those kilts too.
tossing his big old caber
ahem
ahhh...but their is something soooo sexy about the way a kilt swings when they walk...
mind you if he didnt have a kilt on he'd have nowhere to hide his caber
trif is in the grid
she is!
yeah but it hides their butts :(
ok am out of here fer now - l8rs xx
and finished
bye frog
wtg carlee!
bye frogface
YAY for carlee!!!

hello Meliisamay
Hi Eva

How are you? I just wanted to say hey before toddling away. Hiya there Mom and all!
Hi Melissa
hi melissa
hi Melisa
Hello Babble buddies.
hi Scrabs!!
I knew, carlee. But it NEVER looks like that after I am done.
Hi Scrabbs, How is Isla?
hiya Scrabs!
morning Scrabbler
slit
I am so excited since I just got my first new laptop in many, many years -- and I had no idea just how bad it had got until I started using this. Man what a difference a fast computer makes!
oh melissamay, that is lovely! You will have so much fun :D
ooops, sorry
hiya scrabs
oh Annie, when I first saw that I thought it said sh**, the sun is in my eyes
Doing OK, Annie. She scared her parents, and me, last night, with irritability + noisy breathing, but she checked out well at the pediatric urgent care center near their home. She needs time to heal--physically + emotionally.
lappys are great fun
I already ammmmm. I actually feel smarter. That is a dangeroud feeling.
Yay Melissa! Enjoy!
Kat, Canada beat USA in Juniors, here in Bflo, last night, 4-1.
ok....so....off to bake a cake mix so i can make cake balls for tonights rescheduled xmas party for my pathfinders...
I can understand you are all still easily scared. It was close.
i KNOW...and the stands were 80% cdn
was a wicked game too
Seriously, I am over the moon here. Thanks for letting me jump up and down a bit about it. :D
enjoy, carlee!
scrabbs, thanks for the update
have fun carlee
bye bye Carlee
go on celebrating, melissa, I know the feeling!
So that is firewords and if I can help anyone before I go, please just say!
melissa, have fun
I couldn't watch it--can't get that TV channel, but I just looked at the cover of the newspaper. Big pic of fans in red.
congrats Melissamay
wtg melissa! You see, you ARE smarter ;)
Yippee Melissa!
*does happydance*
Sprite, I was convinced there was something wrong with Babble because of how SLOW the site was on my old comp -- it's incredible to just type and not grind grind grind.
woot, that rocks
And now your brain is working at warp speed, Melissa!
IT IS IT IS ok I'll get a grip before I get unbearable
congrats on finishing Melissa
*ordering lithium for Melissa's laptop*
and now your computer caught up with your brain!
shared joy is double joy, melissa
sprite, that is nice about shared joy
I agree, Sprite
Yes, it is.
it is a dutch saying, thought it was english too... shared joy is double joy, shared grief is half grief.
Oooh, I like that, a lot.
Bless you guys, I seriously have no one else to geek out with about this. If you've ever made do for way too long with something you depend on you know how it feels.
I remember you using that phrase before sprite. I think it's beautiful too.
melissa, geek away!
I do, melissa, and it is great to hear you geek out :)
thanks :) I like it too.
I am a tech geek--always reading reviews of new products--lusting for an iPad, iPadTouch and Nook right now....not like I NEED any of them.
I do that too Scrabbler!
Scrabbler, our youngest has a Nook and loves it
CNET + PC Mag are my favorites.
I don't even know what a nook is. What is a Nook?
it is like a Kindle, Sprite.
It's barnes & Noble's e-reader--top-rated among all that are out for now.
roflol... ok now that clears matters up for me! (not!) I will google.
ah, like a reading nook...nice
ah ok! Thanks Scrabs.
Mom, I have been telling myself NOT to spend $250 for the NookColor, to be patient until the price drops over the next several months.
You know Sprite, my family name is Dutch but we've lived in the US so long I know precious little about that part of my heritage...and I find it so pleasant when you reveal little gems of phrases.
he did not get the Nook Color, but has seen it and says it is wonderful
It's bascially a touchscreen tablet but less expensive than the iPad.
scrabs, i should send you the B+N gift card i received for christmas. i have a kindle, so it wouldnt do me much good! (actually hafta go buy myself a BOOK now!)
I still love real books so much
ok..cake in oven
Ooh, congrats on the Kindle EvaNadine, how fun!
that was fast Carlee
cake mix....not hard
I love sharing them, melissa :)
:-)
wow carlee, that is fast
going to scoot, so good to see all of you again. ((Hugs))
i got the kindle last christmas, and i love it!
happy scooting, Mom
bye bye ((Mom))
I have $75 B & N gift card, which gets me closer to the NookColor, but I already spent $300 for new XC-skis for myself for Xmas. I am not a self-indulgent person.
bye ((Mom)) have an easy day
thanks Sprite, enjoy your day
Bye mom. Enjoy the day!
((Annie)), it will be that. Have a good day yourself
Apparently there is still a street somewhere with our name -- I keep hoping I will get to visit it someday. But it's very long odds. Ah well.
i agree, sprite. i DO miss the enjoyment of sharing books. my thought is that i will guy the books for my kindle, and then if i really fall in love with one, i will buy the physical copy...
bye bye Scrabbler, have a good day
Have a great day, Mom.
thanks Melissamay, you as well
I love smelling books--the paper--and looking ay how much I have read. "Oooh, I am halfway now."
*once again remembering that some words begin with vowels*
if there is, melissa, and if it is anywhere I go, I could photograph it for you
I love the sensual qualities of books too. I just wish we had more space for them. They are everywhere!
yeah, here as we4. Whole house is cluttered with them. But I like that too!
did you watch any of the game last night scrabs ( was on phone with my mum...)
sprite, that's so kind of you, if it's not in some obscure corner that would be hellish for you to find.
and wow i did alot of reading over the holidays...6 books..all fluffy
Carlee, I don't get the TV channel that is playing the Juniors.
oh fluffy can be so nice!
My father + sister have been watching the games at her house.
oh too bad....can you access tsn.ca?
That's a lot, carlee.
( teenager stuff mostly scrabs...reading my daughters stuff so i know what she is reading)
The name is Rodenbeek, if you can find it. If not, no worries of course. :D
I'll go now--don't see why not.
FW!
( i read all 4 vampire diaries, a new one out hush hush and then the lost symbol )
sounds like a place, not just a street!. Let me check.
ad hello all - was lurking
Hello & congrats kje!
if u can access tsn.ca they have live streaming of the games...
wtg kje :)
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for kje
Carlee, does TSN do live streaming of the games?
Oh, they do, so finals are tonight?
( and sometimes tv stations dont allow access out of country...I cannot access any US networks online )
finals tomorrow
which games are we talkig about?
wtg kje
It could well be the family lore is completely incorrect on this point -- it certainly wouldn't be the first time.
i can for the site..but not the streaming
The USA vs Sweden game is tomorrow at 3:30, so I can watch that, then finals at 7. TY, Carlee for the info!
world junior hockey kje...last night can played us in semi final...can won 4-1 but the stands in buffalo are mostly canadian
copyrite rules, carlee - caada is usually OK, but may coutries do ot hoor the US copyrites so compaies do ot wat to deal with them online
they litterally had home ice advantage last night..the stands were 80% ccan
hm, it is not a dutch place, though it sounds like one. And I don't see any street by that name either. It is definitely dutch though, meaning Red Brook.
you cant access cbc programming on cbc from the states
Carlee, I have to register on TSN. What is your postal code? I am going to become a Canadian.
well, I would thik in hockey, caada would be much favored over the us team
N7S 2J4
last year can lost to USA in finals..in overtime
there is a red brook maine
wow, had o idea we had a decet jr soccer team - who knew
kje dont underestimate the skills of hockey players in the northern USA
Curses! Yes, Red Brook was the translation I was given...with the assumption that the reason the brook was red was that it had to do with a battle. But clearly we are in the realm of fantasy on this topic!
it is very popular here
how did we go from hockey to soccer
melissamay, there is a Rodenbeeklaan in Schaarbeek, in Belgium.
Really? Whoa.
I truly had no idea!
my typo mistake, carlee.... soccer o the other hand is quite huge dow here
Thank you for the lead, sprite, that's wonderful!
soccer is pop here too
officially spelled Roodebeeklaan though
just not in the snow
OK, Carlee, I am now Canadian and live in your postal code. Now I am paranoid for lying. I'll be looking out for Mounties coming to get me!
Ah, that would explain why I could never suss this out -- I actually like that spelling better.
ok I also found a wikipedia page on the story of the name of the Rode Beek. It is not in English though. Let me see if I can translate.
hahaha..i do all time for stuff in us..use a port huron postal code....scrabs ..we are neighbours..each postal code is for about 5 or 6 houses in my neighbourhood
sprite, you are amazing!
so is buffalo enjoying having it taken over by canadians?
i know people here in my city are at the games this week
Yes, Buffalo has been taken over by Canadians. The bridges have been quite busy and delayed.
*waving* Howdy, mates!
I was in the city twice since the games began, when I went to the Children's Hospital to see Little One, but I was not very close to the arena.
Hi Judi
hi judi...
you should try and go....wonder if u can get a ticket?...would be rockus
hi Judi
My goodness, this Roodebeek street is HUGE. There's a Roodebeek park, metro station, shopping center...this is nuts.
raucus....pardon me
I don't do we4 with craziness--my brain cannot handle overstimulation.
i just once want to go to a manchester U or arsenol match...just for the crowd
i LOVe the energy a an arena
gl5,14?
I enjoy watching that energy, but I cannot handle being amongst it, and would not be able to sleep after it.
gl 5 g + a speck of stuff you take from the dryer
g + laundry li4
thanks
I much prefer figure skating
hi Katie + bichon
melissa, here comes:
The history of Heksenberg (Witch's Mountain) begins about 2000 years before Christ. Several finds of stone weapons and shards show that even back then people lived around the Heksenberg. The road that is now called Heerenweg has been built in the Roman Age. It is part of the heirbaan (heir/heer = army) from Coriovallum (Heerlen) to Xanten. An old story tells how the Hessen tribe pushed its way from Germany towards Coriovallum. The Roman armies attacked them on the access road into that town and a bloody fight ensued. The water of the brook, near which this fight took place, was red from all the blood and from that day on this brook is called the Rode Beek (the Red Brook). After the battle, a grave tomb was erected for the fallen leader of the Hessen. Every warrior had to fill up his helmet with sand and throw it over the grave. That is how the Hessenberg or Heksenberg is supposed to come to be.
Good Morning and Happy New Year everyone
Hello everyone again
hi Riverdance
Hi Riverdance
I love history. I didn't when I was younger, but I do now.
hi river...
good morning River happy new year to you as well
anyone doing anything crazy for new years eve
((group hug))
Good lord, sprite. That's just...mindblowing.
Yeah, I stayed up til 11 instead of 10.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing that for me.
no problem, my pleasure!
wow I cant stand that much excitement scrabbs
I've gotten up in the middle of the night to watch streaming video [skating] from Asia
I thrive on solitude + routines. If I stay up too late, then my sleep patterns get messed up and I get migraines.
Seriously...I'm a little verklempf that you'd go to that much effort. Major league hugs here for you.
no effort at all, it is fun! I just am sorry I really cannot find any road or street by that name.
I just slept till 10 am instead - lol
oh scrabs....canadian and american hockey authorities are trying to come up with a ryder cup like format for can and us hockey tournament every year...
Well in Brussels it's absolutely a huge street, with lots of little landmarks named after it (I found after you gave me the alternate spelling clue.) So it turns out I should be heading to Brussels on my fantasy trip!
There's even a pretty park: http://www.opt.be/informations/tourist _attractions_woluwe_saint_lambert__roo debeek_park/en/V/39818.html
yes, I can find several streets by that name in Belgium! One in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw as well.
And I hadn't the slightest idea till you told me. You've done your good deed for the day and then some.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfGOGFU PWDI
looks like a beautiful park! My pleasure, really, melissa, I love things like this :)
oh boy..hah ckey
I wonder how on earth we ended up farmers (and later insurance salesmen!) in Kansas with our name spelled differently.
I'm definitely going to send all this to my dad. I love that you did this for me, Sprite.
for one thing, the -oo- in Roodebeek would be pronounced as in 'boot' in english. To keep the right pronunciation, they might have opted for Rodebeek.
That would be great, Carlee. I just activated my account with TSN. *waiting for Mounties to arrive*
And I should tell you...one reason for my abysmal ignorance about my own name is that we are literally the only family in the US with this name. Everyone with it is directly related to us somehow. So whenever I casually did a lineage search I'd get bupkis.
no mounties will arrive...
I have a very strict conscience, CArlee.
oh! In that case... let me check... I think I found an artist.
Left L clue please?
southern drawl?
I think it's the plural of li 44
I mean the plural, sorry
*l4/4
melissa: http://rodenbeek.com/
Well, that was simple, wasn't it. *slapping self upside the head*
My dad is an amateur painter, so if you find any info he would go absolutely ape for it. :D
OK, NBT, 81 left, time to move on. Bye kids!
Yes, that's my nephew actually. :D
I thought it might be, after what you said :)
later scrabs....and i need to get some work done..not sure what am tackling..but something
I like his style, btw
bye carlee, have fun doing it :)
See, everything in English with "Rodenbeek" online is us. Ooh, I'll tell him that, he'll be thrilled. I already sent him a link to Roodebeek Park. We're pretty close -- he used to be in our band when we still lived in Kansas.
sounds wonderful to me. Tell him I wave 'hi' from Holland :)
Man, I wish I could more than wave at you -- I'd love to send you flowers! You've just made my day.
I am serious, it was a pleasure doing it and I am happy you are so happy with it :) Double joy again!
Double double joy joy!
On the off chance you ever want or need anything from Portland Or, my email is melissa.may@gmail.com. Just something to keep in mind. :D
ok I will :D
And with that I will say good day/night -- you are a wonderful person sprite. Take care!
bye melissa, have a great day :)

oh crossy...
it was amazing..buffalo is currently part of canada
watched unstoppable with denzel washington last night though and rockys little shop of horrors lol
isnt Unstoppable just Speed on a train?
and how was unstoppable
cable programming is pretty much useless to me atm,if it were left up to me,i would just get nexflixs and tell the cable company to pull the plug and save myself 70 dollars a month lol
unstoppable was good and edge of seat thing..but not a lot of replayability
denzel has done better
his best was bone collector in my eyes...loved that movie
was before angelina was "angelina"
Hi again...can I get a clue for ti 6/21 please
oh, she was angelina by then. Hackers was before she was *angelina* and that was a great movie. :)
ti6 sounds like a dirty fi6
pelican brief,philedelphia
there is also walking very quietly
he kicked ass in philedelphia
philiadelphia was great... not a big fan of the writer of the firm and pelican brief etc..so lost me there
Eva n, I have that one...I need the second ti 6 ---didnt see two then...need the 2nd
Philadelphia still makes me cry
you do this through tulips annie
trying to make no noise
with a eukelele
thanks!! carlee
i do not care who writes the script as long as it is a great movie,it could be skippy the wonder dog as writer as long as it is good
with Tiny Tim
bobs ur uncle annie
i am not a big movie fan myself...i cant sit still for them...takes me often a couple days to watch a movie
theonly movies i see in theatre these days are the harry potters and the twilights....( sad and pathetic i know)
i watch 1 movie a day usually and t.v drives me nuts, half hour sit coms, reality shows and talking heads on cnn;/
but each to their own
since I have Netflix I havent been to the movies in about 2 years
i am seriously debating netflix annie now it is available up here
ok..gone to watch yesterday's little mosque on the prairie
ttfn
tc carlee
i mean for 8 bucks a month? excellent
crossy, It is worth the price and you seen first run movies (when they come onto DVD) and if you want to see an oldie Netflix has them all
*see not seen
lol with an i-pad,wi-fi,3g,net fixs and skype,i could toss everything else lol
I guess you could...(talking foreign language there to me)
though up here we are limited to 5 gig a month on the 3g plans that are available
lol sorry annie
crossy, try Netflix, it is great, and if it is not to your liking you can always stop
wi-fi = your wireless internet and internet cafes 3g = roaming internet that you pay a fee for and skype= minternet telephone annie
It is now 10:30 am and I have to scoot, bye dear babblers...((crossy))
well,we have another 1 year and 7 month on our rogers contract,so i am stuck for a bit:/ will give me time to save up for i-pads lol
((annie))
crossy, Dick Tracy is alive and well
cool,he is my hero
LOL, *poof*
note to my babble friends interested in internet security.the evil people out there are getting good at attacking ad-aware(an anit-virus/spyware program) crossy now reccomends a twice a week scan with 'c-cleaner" and "spybot" both of which can be found and downloaded free at www.oldversion.com
and use avg as daily virus protection..can also be found at www.oldversion.com
thanks for the expert advice crossy, avg had been recommended to me by someone else so I'm glad to get another recommendation I can trust.
and while you are there, load vlc media player,it has all the codecs and plays everything you throw at it and uses half the resources that window media player does...
lol i will get off my soap box now lol
i am honored you trust ole crossy luv;)
oldversion.com is so handy for this stuff,i would bookmark addy
I've used AVG for years... haven't had a virus in over 5 years. I also noticed a difference in spam, etc. when microsoft did their big overhaul about 4 years ago.
you can get winzip there, winrar for unzipping and compacting files..lots of free goodies and it is all freeware
Good morning babbler friends :-))
indeed diane, avg is now my default virus catcher when i build a new rig for someone
when loading all these needed programs, you must always think about the impact on the computers resources
Crossy, can you tell me if Outlook from Microsoft Office 2000 would be compatible with the latest version of Windows?
This new computer (Dell) came with 6 months free Norton, I think it was. Son in law, who is my "computer guy" bypassed it and got me AVG again.
it is,but to be honest luv,i much prefer open office,it is compatable will all your microsoft office friends, but is more user friendly...and free
your son in law is a smart boy
does it have a mail program like Outlook? I'm using it for other applications, but don't see a mail program.
lol load nortons and windows media player and you suck back 50% of your resources lol
it does luv
dammit real life is yelling at me,back in a sec....
sorry,no mail room, just build it at open office and send it via msn or your preferred e-mail go to
Ahhh, it's always refreshing to see someone giving good computer advice... haha, morning, all
morning msideb
i am no pro mside, but i have learned the hard way
good morning, mside :-)
sorry crossy, don't understand those instructions about the mail program
f
a small note about openoffice and windows/MS Office: not all documents generate identically in both formats, there can be some confusion between the two.
guten morgen, inge!
i just use open office to generate my paperwork and if i need to send it out i just use msn or my isp mail addy luv
I've had my fair share of "learning the hard way" experiences myself... vlc, avg, malwarebytes, all good suggestions
hi stid
some stidmama,but it is rare
((stidmama))
Luv, I use gmail instead of outlook -- openoffice doesn't have an email, but gmail seems to be a nice fit with it.
just wanted to warn everyone ad-aware seems to be under attack of late and i have removed it for now
crossy loves g-mail for his real life stuff
I have comcast now but I like the way I can save e-mails in files and edit my e-mails easier with Outlook
I use Microsoft Word 2010, but I know that sometimes I have to send a document in an older format, as some with older computers can't open them... e.g. Federal Govt. offices LOL
I just the other day had to personally take care of some pretty nasty adware on my office computer... got by the system virus scans and all that
Thanks for the warning about adaware. I used to use it on my PC. I'll let my tom know.
hey all, btw
i seem to have no issues with open office generated paperwork and our govt lol
just tell tom to switch for spybot for the nonce
that's the biggest issue with the new Office produects as far as I can tell -- they are not backward compatible, and sometimes don't render older docs properly. for example, they can't read publisher files!
Here is a funny story about people who use Outlook. Many of them are unaware that when they type "J" in Outlook, it generates a smiley face. But that does not transfer to other email programs. Thus you get an email that says "Love, MaryJ"
I think that's what he is using already actually cross -- ;-)
lol
well, I have to get to the post office so I'll be back later. Thanks for the advice crossy
have been the recipient of emails like that, Molly!
np luv..anytime
I prefer microsoft outlook for most of my emails... I can do so much with it. However, I use 2 hotmail accounts for chit chat, and my web cam .
(((Luv))) good luck! have a lovely day!
too funny, Molly :-)
I have no idea why people still use Outlook for email. It drives me crazy.
how is everyone!
we have outlook here at work. im inclined to test that J thing out now!
lol i have a msn addy for games and general internet messing round and g-mail for real life stuff
and I should pull myself together. First day of class for the quarter, and I am anxious. I hate this program, I hate it, I hate it I hate it. nothing like feeling stuck in a thankless awful place for making one long for the weekends.
I think Outlook is a pretty terrible email client myself... sadly, my office won't let me use a different one... it's a nightmare trying to sort and sift though emails
Hotmail drives me crazy... can't even put a proper insert into the body of the email... unless you get it from Bing, or similar.
((stidmama))
I hate Outlook. Have used gmail for over a decade now, even though we have many internet connections.
like i say,i just use hotmail for goofing round
the school I am at requires students to have a school email (which is an online version of outlook) -- I forward to gmail and ignore the rest...
i also think outlook is terrible. and sadly, we only just switched TO it -- we have been in the process for the last 2-3 years, of changing all of our applications to work with outlook.
When we go south ( Arizona ) I have to use hotmail or g-mail though... Comcast connection at my son's home will allow incoming Outlook, but won't let me send.
i have never used outlook lol
don't ever use it
When I was working briefly for a faculty member and had to use outlook to receive important documents it took FOREVER to load and move and figure out what was going on. *sigh*
i used to like outlook, then i found google and use that for everything now
with a fresh build first thing i do is load firefox, avg and g-mail lol
That's the thing about Microsoft: it's so big that people think they have to use ALL their products even when other (and cheaper) software works better.
I've used outlook for 9 years... have never seen a problem with it.
you can replace any microsoft programs with free ones
yep. firefox, OO, google things (gmail and picasa for me), and wordpress runs our family's websites.
well in general it seems like Microsoft has never taken to making things intuitive or simple and user friendly as, say Google or Apple have tried to do
though because you are using windows you still have to keep I.E locked up in a small cage in the background
haha
It "works" diane -- but not as well as other programs. It's not intuitive.
LOL what mside said!
Gefilte is absolutely a word. It's a kind of fish that swims with a piece of iceberg lettuce in its mouth and horseradish spread on its fins.
Actually, tom runs linux on our home server and dual boots our other machines (except my mac which is under warranty)... we avoid MS-OS as much as possible
it is a word, but it isn't in the grid, kaplan.
ah, there is my alarm. must eat breakfast, make tea figure out lunch... brb
i am waiting for the google os for home computers:)
Gefilte is in the grid. Or are Kap and I seeing things?
yeah, it is. Gefilte fishes reproduce by leaving little fishballs in glass jars.
combine google os with chrome browser and g-mail and you will be golden
I suppose I should be in the PB.
you're safe Kaplan... it is there but not found in the Babble dictionary.
what's the status of the google os? is that actually happening? if it's anything like Chrome, I'm on that in a heartbeat
checking now mside
Why doesn't the dictionary recognize geflite but it recognizes kugel. Both are dishes made from a particular food.
oh! it is in the grid -- I didn't see that other E! (sorry sorry sorry)
How come "hiree" is a word, but not the person you fi*- the fi**ee? Is there no sense to Enable?
LOL you want it to make sense???
there is no sense to the english language
Too much to ask?
mside re: google os: most of the in fo i can find is over a year old,but the plan was to start with the google os in portable devices first
well, past 100 and really ought to rest my eyes before I head to school. might be back once I get there (class doesn't start for almost three hours....)
hmmm... interesting. hopefully it doesn't fizzle like Wave did
*hugs and choclits and happy thoughts for all!* (and bacon for cross) *poof*
you will be amazing stidmama!
have a good day stid... relax... I think you will be awesome.
the kids will soak up your prose like a sponge!
(picturing kids soaking up prose like sponges.)
lol,well i am a tad optomistic there
45 left. NBT, NBS, and whatever.
yaa for kaplan
I think that's all for now.
hello hello
62 words before and although it's a nice grid, I have very little time, probably won't reach half
I'm so against foreign currency being allowable in these grids. Who the hell has ever heard of ro 4/4?
Isn't that IM Speak for laughing?
Without being on the floor?
I wish there was gefile fish in the pb; I would trade all my words for a piece!
Home-made only.
That would be rolling on the linoleum Kap. : P
gefilte, you mean
my grandmather used to make it and would make her own horseradish but would have to go out on the fire escape to do so
Gefile fish goes in your gmail. : D
where they keep grandmathers
I just got the currency because of the laughing clue, too funny
I can't spell today...sorry
she was grand indeed!
at least they're cute...
she also used to make boiled carp and I was the only one (in our very large family) who would eat it!
Skirting that PB closely today, are we?
mo?
lol molly ty for the ro4/4 ((ruby))

oh..that's it
96 words!
thank you very much diane
guess pussy-footing is an old fashioned term ?? lol
thank you crossy
unless you have a kitty
np rur, must do a bank run biab semi-poof
later, crossy
I think people try to avoid using the "p" word because it has attained off color connotations.
oh happy day! pretzel bread in the caf today!
good grief..... I do know that the "P" word was not accepted in Text Twist.
any re8,55 hints?
Pretzel bread sounds delicious.
not yet Katie... sorry :-(
re8...what you do to to clean your water again
thanks for that Molly !
Thanks :-)
Thanks :-)
You have to move like a snake to find some of these words. Twisty, twisty.
I forgot about the "re" thing.... I'm sure that will give me a bunch more words !
mmmm.... ham + swiss on pretzel bread. such a lovely change of pace...
hi Eva :-)
hola!
Any for il5,10
more so on the 4
morning all
sicker
Thanks again
afternoon, hooty-hoo!
hi hootowl
hmm - still morning here
hi again all
half past lunchtime here. :)
and good afternoon from here
11:28 and I am getting hungry
ok..someone PLEASE motivate me to take down my christmas tree and all the other rot...its that..or have a nap
I vote nap.
mine stays up til 12th night - thats tomorrow here
nap is good
i usually have mine down by new years
poor thing
hehehehe
i took the ornaments off the tree last night. hubby can take down the lights + toss the thing out.
makes the house look so clean and uncluttered for new years
sigh
ok... i am going in there peoples...
I'm gonna set mine up for the birds. and the ^*%&%$ squirrels
getting the ornament boxes...
mine goes in a box
( make suet and bird seed ornaments out of pine cones and hang on tree :p that owuld be fun to watch )
mine's always real. We tried to convince ourselves to get a phoney cause the new place has no picture window...but we gave up
sounds like a wonderful idea but my cats would have ideas other than bird watching...
i wanted real this year... kids have never had one b/c dXh doesnt like the mess..but couldnt afford it this year..stick with what i have
my you are stubborn - must learn to relax...relax,,,relax...
ok..going in there... going...
stuborn, stubborn, stubborn
question tho..anyone here ever made dried fruit ornaments?
sliced apples and oranges...
fireweeds
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for hoot
once way back when
ty
do i have to pitch or ddo you think i could keep if i stored in a bag of rice
low, slow oven
they are SOO pretty on the tree
i rather wish to keep them rather then pitch
hi all
( i used convection on low oven... 2 hours )
if theyre dried, cant you laminate/seal them somehow?
if i had spray laquer..yes..but i dont...
but if they are dry...no moisture for anything to live on them
well the rice could infest them too. How about a matte sealer of some type. Craft store should have it. But I also made flour ornaments and with no sealer lasted forever. Just keep them dry. No cold attic or garage
i think i will try a bag of rice...
you can get spray lacquer at hardware store
dried fruit still has moisture
hang them in a window & enjoy them
i mean..if u drop your cell phone in water..u put in rice...to dry out....soooo
you do?
Well I have to go to the store. Any clues needed before I leave?
not yet i just started but thanks
ok - bbl
the worst that canhappen is i have to throw them ut..which is what i would do today anyway
true car
well or that they would attract bugs that would infest your house
<=== little mary sunshine today
nbt
*hides coins under rug for surprise to next person who cleans the chog*
*poof*
mmm pealmeal bacon, lettuce and cheese sammiches;))
aww great, crossy, I lasted about seven seconds before getting hungry in the chog today.
lol
especially because I have no lunch time on Tuesdays and Thursdays :o(
food, drink, friends and love..the stuff of life;)
:(((
and school? ;o)
crossy, care for some of the pretzel bread i enjoyed with my lunch today?
lol dfm,i graduated long,long ago
sure eva;)
<-- is now really hungry :o( and I have classes from 0830 until 1720!
its like the army, you have your goat skin hanging on the wall saying you did 4 years of whatever and the first thing your new boss says is "ok,now i want you to forget about all of that"
ok..melting chocolate for the cake balls
a good employee is 20 percent knowledge and 80% dealing with people
mmmm
xmas party tonight..gotta fill the kids up with sugar before they go home to their parents and to bed :p
lol
last thing you feed them is about a pound of red licorice each
loys of sugar..lots of food colouring lol
or a nice bowl of sugar coated nougat marshmallow stars...now with frosting!!
i made cake balls for christmas last year. several different kinds. im still not over the trauma! when my friend brought some to our party this year, i almost had to turn her away...heh
lol
They are a lot of work, aren't they Eva?
they are easy, but messy and time-consuming. and when you make 3-4 different varieties...i was ready to be done.
though, oddly, i could go for some today...heh
i am craving some strawberry foldovers;) take your flaky pastry cut into squares brush with egg white and fill with a mixture of jam and whipping cream ;)
Yeah, I didn't mean difficult. Messy and time consuming is a better description.
little triangles of heven
sounds scrumptious, crosy!
<-- should start (trying) (and probably failing!) to ignore the chog!
lol sorry dfm
you can also use a mix of 505 custard and 505 cream, blend it and add your fresh berries
50%*
but that is more of what we call a chantilly(sp) cream for filling cannolis(sp)
as crossy does not like ricotta cannolis
you mix cocoa with it for choc cannolis
crossy will zip it now;(
nbt, and have to get back to work
bbl
hello again
((ruby))
hi {{ruby}}! :o)
m
{{dfm}}
....
crossy: what sounds really easy and I have homemade jam! so whipping cream NOT whipped cream? would cream cheese work?
that*
cream cheese would work great!
they have ready-made puff pastry here that is excellent
35% cream that you whip at home works well
ty ty, I will make some in a couple of days and let you know how they turn out. I have jams and jellies from my garden: currants, blackberries and plum
my mouth is watering
You only bake it with the jam in it, right? Then add the whipped cream.
do not overfill though, squares should be about 5x5 and filling should be about 4 heaping tbs
oh, I thought he meant you mix the cream with the jam.....
and fold into triangles..egg white will help them seal
I did too, but wouldn't whipping cream go kerflooey in the oven?
you do ruby mix cream and jam
maybe unwhipped cream?
I can't wait to try it
try small batch first
or currant jelly mixed with cream cheese....mirabelle plums....blackberries
but we used to make them all the time at bakery
maybe I can chub up a little
lol
you can have 30 pounds that i really do not want :)
that would be too much, but 6 would be great!
i have not tried it with cream cheese though, filling is supposed to be light and fluffy
6?? lol@6 and gain and lose 6 pounds just by eating and potty functions lol
I don't mind creamy and sticky....
I can't gain; if I eat too much at one meal, then I can't eat the next one. not good.
i wish i still had the cannoli recipie
but you need a good deep fryer and lots of aluminum tubes
those sound yum..the fold overs
they are old tyme snack, jelly fold overs
so..cake balls coated with melted chocolate..and setting up in freezer
if I can explain to "the shopper" what the puff pastry package looks like, I can make some tomorrow afternoon
half way!
i better dive in for a bit, this grid is not doing itself lol...sploosh
tree dealt with except for lights...all deocartions down...but boxes in liveing room..need to get my son to deal with boxes as my ankle still not up to loaded trips up and down stairs
next....making turkey quaselias
I won't let husband take the wreath down or the cards. If it was up to me, I'd leave the wreath up all winter as it's gorgeous
quesadelias...
i like all my xmas gone by new years
unfortunately....not this year
so does he
as we had xmas dinner new years day
I still haven't thrown away the Christmas capon. I'm hoping it will come back to life and fly away!
it's outside and no animals can get at it
it would take a vulture to carry it off
well..as my turkey is only on its 4th day....mexican with it tonight...and then turkey ala king tomorrow with the hockey game
Ruby, I'm getting worried about that capon.
and i still have a pot of gravy and a huge bowl of stuffing
what to do with left over stuffing?
just don't eat any mystery meat empanadas chez Ruby!
I need the second te6/21 please?
gravy into the ala king
I can't face it
but the stuffing....
how about the firest te6, too
first*
no te 6/21 but the ti 6 /21 is what u do in the tulips
AND btw, CROSSY, TI6 THROUGH THE TULIPS HAS BEEN AN EARWORM FOR TWO HOURS NOW
I'm sorry. It's ti
and the first ti 6 21 sounds like the fi 6
sorry for shouting. Clumsy pinkie hit the caps
( i think i started that with crossy a few hours ago ruby....)
Thanks all.
it is terrible that I am so suggestible for music
the other day I had "exultate jubilate" in my head for hours without knowing the rest of the latin
*Serenading Ruby with the ukulele*
we have a ukele arounf here somewhere
ty molly rotl
whoops! hahah
You can freeze leftover stuffing.
i could...but
i suck at using up frozen leftovers...
my father courted my mother back in the 30's, playing the uke
i forget about them...they get kicked around in the freezer..then i pitch them when i clean it out
I bet he was the cats pajamas (using a 30's phrase)
I freeze them without labelling, wait a couple of months and throw them out or else ask husband if he'd like a mystery red thing for dinner
wavy blonde hair and bright blue eyes
and she was a regular flapper!
its just a thing... i am not sure why i do that..even labelled
i suck
I understand, carlee, frozen stuff is ycuky after a while
but I have to freeze meat for the dogs, because he only buys it once a week and we have to stock up because it's not always available
beef hearts and liver -- gross
i ned to start buying giblets for my cats...
ok..gone to start making filling for quasedilas
I make brown rice and beef heart risotto for the dogs and cook pieces of liver for the garnish. They love it and have glorious coats
109 words and I call it quites -- want puff pastry NOW!
*poof*
I'm kind of vigilant about using my frozen leftovers. I have a thing about wasting food.
ok... back..turkey dealt with..carcus on stove simmering to make broth
meat in pan simmering for quasadelias.. and rest of meat set aside for turkey ala king..yay
and its snowing?????
hahaha radar says is raining and freezing rain..but we have big fluffy white flakes
'thesp' is so a word. I wonder if enable would take 'luvvie'..
is that how people with speech disabilities say lesbians? :)
*sprints over to NB* *stops self pre-pounce* *hugs gently* hello love!
LOL Cos! No, it's those draaama types ;) a bit of a thesp...as in thespian. But I was born in the 1990s, so I don't say words with more than two syllables ;)
Hello Mrs Foster ;) how are you??
Hi Nancy boy: I am sure thesp is a word, and I would vote for luvvie to be added to Enable as well.
lol i know it is.. just being funny :P
Sorry Cos, wasn't sure if it was a britishism or not ;)
im well, dearest. how are YOU?
too right, Scouser. I've known some proper luvvies in my time and it's an affront to them that babble won't take it :P
There is a town near here called Lusby. The people there refer to themselves as Lusbians. : D
evening all
lol molly
i guess they dont include thesp as that would open up a whole can of worms - or should i say words?
I'm well thanks Eva :) caught the inevitable cold though, so sneezing away...to the great displeasure of the cats.
Hello carleekat: give the old stuffing to the birds outside. If you were going to freeze it, should have done it only up to 24 hours after the first cook, and then only if you made it yourself from scratch. Bought stuffing - not a chance !
True, Frogface..though sometimes I feel like half the words in my vernacular aren't 'real'!
molly -- my best friend used to live there. she used to call herself a "lusbian homeowner"
and did you know that in the UK language you can pluralise the? it becomes thes, again not included in this dictionary
That's funny Eva. Scouse...you can "buy" stuffing.
i wish i still had kitties to snuggle. i love our little lizards, but theyre not nearly so soft + squishy...
Why no cats Eva?
corse you can we even call stuffing paxo in our house
Hi Molly: what I meant was, don't freeze pre-packed ready-made stuffing or stuffing made from a packet.
I've never seen ready made stuffing. I've always assumed everyone made it from scratch.
Lizards!! Too cute, Eva. I have daydreams about owning turtles, sometimes...
stove top stuffing?
omg nobody in the UK seems to make stuffing anymore - it's all ready made - and in various yakky flavours lmao
Hi carleecat: what is a quasadelia?
you can packets of dried stuff that you add hot water to - its easy and even the cheap stuff can be made to taste nice
Stove top isn't ready made.
molly -- i had to re-home them when i moved in with my hubs (before we were even engaged -- scandalous!) he already had the 2 lizards, most of my friends are allergic, and i knew we would move around a few times before we really settled down -- and i knew the cats wouldnt take to it. there are even more reasons too...
oh we make it from stratch using day old bread... i guess i call stove top ready made for us lol
and to think the US gave the UK freeze dried products - and we have the monopoly on stuffing!!!
NANCY!!!>>OMG..i am SO sorry about xmas day..but my dXh disconnected internet on xmas eve...i didnt get hooked up again friday last
NB, we have a veritible zoo's worth of lizards in our house these days. more tanks than anything else!
hee hee - i also make it from scratch but weekdays is too busy for cooking from scratch
<--------Would be scared to have reptiles in the house.
you guys know that cable show "Hoarders" on Monday han episode of an old lady hoarding chickens.. they were wall to wall in her house
i make from scratch unless doing a quick chicken casserol'y thing
aww Carlee, that's alright! I was in a sad old mood anyway, so you didn't miss much ;) hope you had a good christmas!
evening all....
and the other guy was hoarding rabbits.
evening fish
hi fish
i had the kids for 2 hours....but i had a nice day..i felt wretched for you tho..i had promised to be here and i wasnt...
I can't watch shows about hoarding. Hoarding creeps me out.
it creeps me out too molls
and for next week's season finale they have a guy hoarding rats
i only like stuffing balls - hate it in things like chicken and turkey 0 urrgh
and not in cages!
I'd be scared about having a snake. Or spiders! Lizards though...cute, cute, cute!
that is dressing kazz
Oh but rats are rather clean, aren't they? All I know about rats is that they can't vomit. Good for them!
its stuffing in our house
clue for the last ti6?
rats make really good pets
Oh no, we're not going to do the stuffing/dressing thing are we? : P
I love rats...even love seeing them in the underground here, though they're less of the pet variety.
i didnt like the stuffing in scotland - they make it with lard and oatmeal - it was not nice
this guy had over 400 rats in his house running loose
The clue is through the tulips.
thnks Molly
Hi Kazzer and carleecat: I lived in Newfoundland in the 60's and I remember now we used to call stuffing dressing. We would get french fries, dressing and gravy for the price of the french fries.
lovely clue Molly!
I don't know what is grosser. 400 rats in the house, or stuffing made with LARD AND OATMEAL. GROSS!!
urrgh cos that really is discuusing cos the only thing i kno about rats is that they continuously urinate leaving trails all over the place
oops gisgusting
good god i give up my typing is complete c**p tonight
the lizards are easy because they cant get out of their tanks. you have some choices as to what to feed them + really, the only thing to remember is to wash your hands after handling them.
in defence of my national cuisine....it's not *just* suet and oatmeal that goes in the stuffing
when i was living in arizona.. i saw a wild lizard on a sidewalk and i freaked out.. yeah.. i'm pretty gay liek that :P
my stuffing is bread chopped up into cubes, with onions and celery sauteed in butter....chopped up mushrooms, sage, tarragon,, thyme and salt and pepper
hey
that does depend where you get it from fish - i got served some in a nameless cafe in aberdeen and that was exatly wat it was
oh..in st croix the lizards ( little gekkos) are everywhere..in the house....everywhere..so darn cute
First time playing...Do the letters have to touch?
yes
LOL Cos!
yes...leters must touch but go in any direction
minimum 4 letters, you can only use each letter once in a word
and for the record... i think i am in charge of yet another robbie burns dinner...i gett o go get haggis again..and eat haggis again..yay...i rather like haggis....once in a while
Haggis is the bomb
i love haggis - thanks for reminding me - i must get all the kit ready
burns dinners are just monumental piss-ups
i used to enjoy fried haggis suppers in aberdeen
deep-fried haggis....bleuch
yes - espically when you go to one that allowed a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of wine per dinner guest
but nowhere near as bleuch as deep-fried pizza
in aberdeen they would fry anything
haha - one of my favorites - i also like deep fried steack pies
allowed? The Burns nights I;ve been to that's a minimum requirement
allowed? The Burns nights I;ve been to that's a minimum requirement
there's a chippy just down the road from the Deen in Stonehaven that claims to be the virthplace of teh deep-fried mars bar
yeah - i have been there
they have a sign in the window that claims as such, adding..."we'll deep fry anything, bring us yer granny and we'll deep fry her"
heehee - deep fried crunchies are interesting - there's a chippy we went to that if you take your favorite food item in for a small charge they will batter and deep fry it for you
deep-fried Opal Fruits/ Starburst was the weirdest one I came across
hmm that does sound strange but vaguely interesting
trust me - it's as gawd awful as it sounds
deep fried butter is yum
anyway...no piss up at this robbie burns....we serve gingerale and root beer... ( teenagers...)
i would imagine it sort of gives up and explodes
what is the age limit for booze where you are carlee
its pretty yum kaz
19 kaz...this dinner i will have 16 12- 15 year old girls...
can I come? ;o)
aah - my idea of hell - just about getting giggly over boys and still liking cr***y stuff on the tv
and the only male in attendance is the one addressing the hassis :)
not at all kazz...they into getting canoe certification and sailing... camping in witer in tents with snow up the wazoo... boys are there..but not forefront..too amny others things to do
whos doing the ladies reply thingy that i had to do as the only lady present at one
*yawn* supposed to head to a goodbye happy hour for a coworker today, but im tired. methinks im just gonna head home...
we just appoint a volunteer :0
:)
good - are they guides or just a good bunch of friends
guides...
and a good bunch of friends
my friends daughter was in the guides but she has moved up to the rangers. i was in the girls life brigade
that shows how old i am i think it just the girls brigade now
this is the age group between guides and rangers :)
LOL Kazzer, it was the Girls Life Brigade when I was in it and just Girls Brigade when my daughters were in it
just keep em at it - i think its a good start in life - makes you think of others and your responsibilities towards them
i think it changed when i was in it - it was something i really enjoyed at the time
not many Company's around our area now
one of the chaps i work with has big connections with the boys brigade - he does the catering usually
at the camps
ke 5/24?

Nobody is talkative today. This is rather disturbing. Did something happen?
Hello Mark, are you still there. More likely, people have had to go back to work after Holidays...or the grid was easy and people finished early. I am jsut starting.
I am still here. The chatterbox shows a lot of people on, just not talking. How are you, redturtle?
I am fine, the chatter box is not always correct either as some people always leave babble up, I am always logged in but often not here.
How many words do you have? I think this is a very large puzzle for me.
well I just started right when I typed your message, I have 28...
its about an average sized grid...
Hi Mark :-) HI redturtle :-)
there are 181 words Mark
I have 69 currently, and I don't think I will get many more; Hey diane!
Hi Diane.
you can. it seem sthey are mostly on the left hand side...so far.
I've been lurking and have 30 left. Hi all.
Hello jillibus!
hello Jilli! Did you all have nice holidays?
Lickety's list is up.
HI Jill :-)
I have 68 left
I have had Lickety's the whole time. Was it down before?
Had great holidays -- now slowly recovering, lol!
I think I'm a day behind... my Lords must be tuckered out by now !
Not this time, Mark, but has been missing sometimes recently.
Can I have a hint for the 8 letter word?
most of the words this time are pretty normal
I haven't got the 8 yet.
to purify your water, a second time.... e.g. Britta machine
oooh thanks diane.
ty ty diane!
re etc.
welcome... all 'round !
I got the 7, but I can't get the 8. I know that they are related, based on your clue diane.
purify your water twice..Mark.
re + fi 6
I have the re+ **** up a water bottle, but not the last letter.
Ah. Got it. Thx, diane.
to re clean your water, not add water.
what is it called when you drip your coffee through that "paper" thingy ....
Mark, do you percolate your coffee or do you use a Melitta or Mr Coffee?
st 6/30? please
refill
PB Diane!
sorry.... I had that word and DIDN'T need to type it in here
off I go.... hippety hop to the pb....
Oh, I see it fi****ed through to you ;_)
ahh, offers diane some blueberry tart in the PB.
bichon - var on running naked!
I don't drink coffee, jillibus. I am in my late teens so I don't drink that stuff. I prefer juice.

nice little pun there, Jill
yw
HOYA ARE YOU A DOCTOR AT gEORGETOWN?
nm, Mark -- you got the word anyway
went to school there
sorry for caps
I'm so clever
I've struggled into my twenties and still can't stand coffee. Vile stuff.
Agreed. True dat.
thought you were trying to get my attention! haha
HI nancy. I love Coffee. I admit it.
Hello NB! How goes it?
Hi all! back for second half...
Hi Champ, how are you?
Hiya Champ! How are you?
Hi champ!
Good! REady for the kids to go back to school tomorrow
it's not for everyone.... I for one, love my coffee too, but not in excess. I was given a Keurig coffee machine for Christmas .... love it !
hi champ
i like my coffee flavored - milk doesnt do it for me. i heart coffeemate creamers!
I am also ready for them to stop having all those opportunities for falling off their Holiday gifts...
diane, have many friends addicted to their Keurig
I use soy milk, but..I have the cholesterol issue...
togs
Yay! 100 left!
hello hydra.
at least that way, I don't feel I have to drink the whole pot.... I think I'll probably drink a lot less.
Hydra, go to the PB and hang out with diane.
Hy Hydra
that might be a good thing diane!
I don't drink that much anyhow.... 3 a day is probably my average, or less some times
I'm a tea devotee. Still have the last of the chrysanthemum tea from Korea. Bit difficult to explain that at customs..
if I have a 3rd, I'm pinging off the walls
thanks for the st 6/30 clue Hoya.... I picked it up from the chat
Hi NB :-)
oooh...when was that? I need it...
good going Mark.
I think it was an alternative spelling to going nude and running.
yes... it was an excellent clue
Thanks. i have 7 words since then.
ok...
'Iyer Diane :)
so how is everyone enjoying this nice fresh shiny new year?
got it!
yes it was.
I am short of k's.
what ??
it was a good clue Diane.
New year is OK Nancy. But the hosital is overloaded and work is very very difficult.
Sorry - "'iyer" is London for "hiya" ;) local slang. because none of us speak properly.
sorry red.
oh, sorry to hear that, Red - I bet it would be this time of year.
LOL.... whew... I thought it was analternate spelling for being a liar !!
Its ok , it will eventually sort itself out. I do still get paid for it.
Mark, got the ke4/11 rhymes with the foam sports toys?
thanks good!
I think so. I have a ke4/11.
My fridge broke down and so did my desktop computer and a TV. New fridge arriving this afternoon.
thanks... Good Enough !
jilli...what a pain!
wow Jilli...yikes.
that was a triple whammy Jill.... so sorry.
How is that for a bad day.
Well, it will work out in the end, and I'm triply glad I gave myself this laptop a while ago.
Halfway done. I am halfway towards dinnertime.
I may get a tiny little mini-computer -- an Asus. Has anyone here had experience with those?
el 5/10 please?
I have a laptop as backup too... I take it to Arizona with me when we go down there for a few months.....which will be soon, if hubby gets the go-ahead from his eye surgeon.
(I'll keep the monitor and keyboard etc which I already have.)
hello peeps!
Hello lil!
hi!
don't know about the Asus, but several of my grandkids and one daughter have "notebooks" in addition to their computers.
sami, e + li4 (the stuff in the dryer screen)
el5 -- el + dryer fluff
Hi lil* :-)
hi Mark Jones! when are you going "pro" ????
ty lil
yw Champie
ty muchly
yw sami
yay for the clues!
I apparently have gone pro, but haven't gotten a picture. Any advice on how?
the Asus isn't a notebook -- see http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications /SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=67 48154&CatId=2313
thanks Monkey. sorry I am in and out, checking Facebook...my addiction.
okay... will look, Jill
I enjoy facebook too.... had a "giggle" with lil* just recently.
np red :) I am hooked on FB too
LOVE FB! Favorite thing is knowing people's b-days.
Hi all.
ark, to start with go to your My Account and check the little box upper right to get your flag etc. To get your picture or any other icon, click on the Edit on the left under the grey head.
I can't get the dirty fi5. Any hints?
I am missing 3 tiles for NBT, and I cannot find one K.
That was for Mark, not ark, lol!
keep things on an even ke4, michnick
re: the Yankee Clipper, aka Joltin' Joe :-)
squalor another word for fi***
yay Mark! you're a pro now... let's see a pic
Thanks Monkey
Now I am missing the L and the I from the 4th row.
fi5 -- Bill Gates is fi***y rich
I haven't been able to, but we'll see.
Got it. Thanks, jilli.
Mark, are you from Hogwarts? ;)
It's trying to snow here :-(
Ooh, I see Mark's handbag.
Mark has a blue purse
Of course I am. Who isn't?
so Mark is a boy
Mark, why no flag? Did you not enter your country in your profile?
Hi NB, how are you managing at home?
Odd...makes him look different and exotic though...
I picked a weird out of the way country and it didn't work. I will pick a different one.
Got the I's, can someone clue the lone L on the 4th row?
Oh, doing okay thanks, Mich! Found out the woman next door is pregnant, so we're both reaaally excited! But I regret that I have to climb so many stairs to get to our flat ;)
That's what you get for being a smarty-boots!
Ummm...that was to Mark, not NB. Not trying to be rude!
Take it slowly and easily. I am happy you are so excited for her, especially since you aren't such a big fan of little people.
i don't know which L that is, Michnick
Sometimes 'different' countries take a while for their flags to show. I remember my Korean flag took a while.
LOL Champ!!
I assume it is an "li" monkey, but I don't know which.
I am a guy! Stop teasing me. * Mark turns away*
oh nice flag!
Where are you Mark? I don't recognize the flag.
mich , do you have li4, the Island woman has a li4 in her voice
Pretty Andorran flag, Mark. Where are you really from?
I have that Monkey.
I am from the Andromeda Galaxy! lol. Actually, i live in the midwest.
do you have lif4, what is the meaning of li4? and then add a consonant for a convict who is put away
Will do (and am doing), Mich ;) well, I've got six months to get used to the idea. And the lovely lady says she plans to name it after me, so I've gotta feel some affection for my namesake!
Alderan!
(all just a ploy to guilt me into babysitting, I'm sure ;))
Nope, not them, I have them both already.
If you want to see what country a flag is from, click anywhere blank on the screen and then mouse over the flag
Mich, do you have the Italian money? li4
I know; I felt like putting a rare flag there.
Duh, It was the pl of the pretty woman's voice. How in the world did I miss that???
everyone fish slap michnick!!!!! *thwack thwack thwack*
OH! That happened to me too Mich
OK, At least I have only 71 left and NBT, I can think about going to bed.
*thwack!*
Youch, Monkey, Champ, you guys are rough today.
what is NBT pls?
Now for a picture, Mark -- Click on that Edit on the left, and follow the second set of directions. If you don't have a picture of yourself in your My Pictures (or whatever the Mac equivalent is called), there are loads in Google images.
Ok...next time I'll use a goldfish...
No Blank Tiles, it means you have at least one word from every tile.
No Blank Tiles
ok thx
I went on goooooogle images and it said that it couldn't read the format.
Mark, when you go to Google Images, right-click on the one you like and Save As into your My Pictures.
Any suggestions?
ooh, and make sure it gets saved as a .jpg or whatever babble takes.
Then just follow the directions, using Browse
babble takes .jpg, .gif, or png
oh look at mark!
1 more for nbt....
The things i am trying for don't end in jpg of gif or png!
hey crossy!
howdy champ;)
I think you can save 'em as a different file type though - usually? I don't know, I'm computer illiterate.

years ago, i lived with an African Grey. A friend visited, and spent all weekend saying 'nevermore' to it. Few weeks later, my sister was visiting. The parrot was atop his cage, quiet. Then he turned, looked at her, and said nevermore, then returned to stairing into space. My sister wigged and fled.
be well, wild

has anyone had an iphone 3 and do you think it better then the new android phones? My son wants to trade his Samsung Captiva for a new (?) iphone 3. what do you all think? He is 14 by the way.
sue, I think the iphone is more of a target for thieves than any android on the market
true
A ti 5/12 word rhymes with the fi 5/18 word hoyadoc
I have a droid, and it does pretty much anything the iphone does -- is cheaper initially (so cheaper to replace) and very stable.
there are two fi 5/18
i think that droid is a better platform than iPhone
thanks, seain -- that has certainly been my impression as well. :-D
he said the battery life sucks on the android
how are you-all doing back there anyway, seain?
i have an iPhone, and i love the text interface. Beyond that, it's not bad. Having used various friends' droids, i think it's better.
try the windows phone
algighty, stid, thanks. I'm having some side effects from an antibiotic, but that shall pass.
battery on iPhone is rather random from what i've seen over the last 3 months.
depends on the phone -- my htc G1 had a decent battery life when new, and I now have a bigger battery that lasts me all day long even if I forget to turn it off when out of range.
sorry about the side effects, hope you feel 100% soon!
out of range? Wow. You have to getinto the mountains here to get out of range.
dc are you saying you like the droid better then your iphone?
yes, sue
The other fi 5/18 is Actor Colin Fi*** stidmama and hi!
at home, inside the buildings at the college and in a few other locations there is no signal at all... the price one pays for being in a rural area

Is your son's rebuilt running Driod 2?

hi enci and diem
Hi!
dh is a lawyer -I handle all the paralegal and administration -works from home -and uses coffee shops as his office for meeting clients -
have we met enci?
i am a lawyer too and after i became full time at the peace org i moved my law practice home--a much better place for it--no overhead
Unlikely- i mostly play on the ipad and can't see the chat log and board at the same time
Hi Tanja
well glad you can see it today
hello herin
Hi JM
I was a lawyer but have been disabled by a long term illness.
too bad enci -- are you able to write briefs for other lawyers?
Thanks enci and diem.....I know it's there....still looking.
hi herin
think of water peach
Waves hi
*waves back*
*waves*
gape re + what you put in a coffee pot
surfs up!
We are house hunting. Long term off course
My health has been so unpredictable and the medications mess with my concentration- so I haven't been working at all. I miss it (and the paycheck). I was a litigator and just loved my job.
ooh fun - I like exploring real estate
Gosh, I amaze myself with my stupidity. Thanks y'all.
my hubby was a criminal trial lawyer who went deaf and would have to stop for long periods until we got this stable again
ENci that is no good
it was hell on him when he wasn't in the courtroom
i hope you are able to get back to what you love enci
I know that there is a lawyer that is blind. There is a big help thing here for lawyers with disabilities
yeh my dh loves the courtroom
I would love to do something not time sensitive and part time- am working on that in this new year! I miss my job.
i can take it or leave it -- i prefer appeals
Enci you thought about volunteering with a community group?
i really prefer giving speeches! lol
well i hope it works out for you enci
That way you can say to them that you have X issue and will try and give your all. They are a lot less strict than work places
But would not want my body to be letting clients down in addition to letting me down! I have though of volunteering, and I have done a little- always gets held against me in disability hearings.
hmmm i can see where that would be hard
Enci do you mind me asking what is wrong or you can say bugger off. Will not be offended
that is why i thought about the contract work for other lawyers--there is a buffer between you and the client
but that wouldn't help with the disability hearings either
I don't mind you asking- I have CFS and I am xmrv positive. I was also one of the last RH conflict babies, and was born premie with isssues- the RH conflict sets up a system where you attack your own cells.
So, a potpurri of auto-immune crap!
CFS is a right bitch. My old house mate has it.
bummer
<==clearly has a wide vocabulary and a way with words
I get abou 6 good hours a week when I could really do legal work, much more than nothing, but not enough for most jobs.
Enci you need to work on your body and find a balance
maybe some legal research--i have a guy who i pay to research the law for the briefs i write
since you can do it all on computers these days you don't even have to go to a law library
I was a great researcher- if you ever could use 6 )hours a week, let me know. I did environmental and trade secret theft litigation. With some general commercial litigation as well.
Enci it is best to find something to do with your mind that will help
State and federal, district court and appeals.
Playbabble!
exactly
are you in the U.S?
brb
babble is my anti-aging activity
Yes- licensed in NC.
i used to be local counsel for a tree-hugger attorney in oregon but that is the only environmental work i ever did
when arguing for a continuance the judge asked something about sludge and i said "i don't know anything your honor i am just the local counsel"
hmmm i own a double wide in NC that i rent out
Hence my Enci moniker :)
oooooh I C! ;-)
Environmental is fun, I love the statutes/regs/case law/this case brief research stuff.
Where in NC is your double wide?
i feel that way about tax law
ashville
my boy bought it with me while he was at UNCA and left just in time for the housing market to bust
I can't read tax regs too close to bed time, because I get all excited and can't sleep. Sad but true. Asheville is beautiful.
The Asheville market will recover. They never inf
ooops pb for you enci re4/6!
ike NY or Cali-
not an asheville fan myself but i agree if i can hang on long enough we will be able to sell the doublewide--it is in a great location
Hmm, well there' 1/4 of my sentence for ya!
the trouble is my son transferred to GWU which is really expensive so all a financial burden for this little nonprofit director
i got the gist of it Enci
Yes. Overextending is way to easy to do in this market, because liquidity is herd to recapture.
Hard. Not herd.
Herds are also hard to recapture (Ma, the cows are out!)
lol!
close that barn door!
Babble is everyone over 30's anti-ageing activity. Problem is when some teacher or other lets her pupils in and they all either demand clues and/or type in text speak. CUltr. LOL
cultr? *looks baffled*
hi jac
B4 that, everyone spoke English!
:)
Hi jmc.
jmc, I've lost your email address and I want to ask a question....if you will email it to me: gapeach106623@yahoo.com Thanks
Speaking of speaking English... the British Isles consists of English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Cornish and Geordie people. All can speak English, but the accents vary. I guess it's same in USA?
My son's g/f volunteered herself to be The Translator, on a recent student boat trip from her Uni. She's Dutch and they were going to Newcatle-upon-Tyne.
sure right away peach
*Newcastle
Thanks.
our accents are generally more similar than the ones on the british isles but there are some that are close to unique
brb
My son thought she'd fail spectacularly at translating, but what he didn't know was that she'd watched Taggart (Glasgow & Paisley Scots accents) and Geordie TV.
i spent most of a day in the mountains of Virginia saying "what?"
In the USA most people speak English, accents vary by community, both geographically and ethnic grouping (e.g. Hispanics living in the south in the USA have accents and dialects that are pretty unique).
She did very well! YAY!
yay for her!
jac, that's great!
Hi Enci. Can you in USA, tell where someone comes from just by the way they say things?
Often, not always.
somewhat jac but not as much as we used to
jmc - I wish you hadn't said 'the mountains of Virginia' because I'm now singing 'on the trail of the lonesome pine'.
there are certain tell-tell words such as what you call carbonated sugar drinks
My native dialect is a lowland mountain dialect from Virginia, Jac. I mostly don't talk like that any more though.
coke in the south; soda in the NE; pop in the midwest and I have no idea what in the far west
sorry jac
where i grew up there were coke, then sody-pop, then became sodas. In parts of New England they stil call them tonics
There is a recognizeable southern accent, but the southern accent on the Stokes county, NC bordering VA is different from the Atlanta southern accent.
Jmc, don't forget the subs/grinders/po' boys!
true--there are (or maybe were) five distinct dialects in Texas (non of which GW Bush has since his is made up)
I was surprised, as a Brummie (person born in Birmingham, UK) to find that spending 30 years on and off in a particular village in North Wales, enabled a man from South Wales to pinpoint the exact village from my drunken rendition of a piece of my writing that I decided to read out with a Welsh accent one night at a writers' conference. I got it right and so did he!
Having said that, my ancestors on both sides are Welsh.
true Enci I was telling someone about a oyster po'boy i had in New Orleans and he had no idea what i was talking about
I have several songs i still sing in my native dialect, try as i may.
they are still cokes in Georgia and Texas
Yum. Oyster po' boy.
Sorry about that. Windows gave the gift that keeps on being irritating
i will have to here that sometime dc
on Enci it was heaven with crunchy french bread and freshly fried oysters i still think about it
wb herin!
Oddl, the alphabet song is one. I've noticed because i've been singing it to my niece as a lullaby
so, she may drawl her vowels like i do :)
well then you can help instill some of her heritage in her!

poor unappreciated dc!
I am just having to come and go. Windows MSN update had a spaz I have no idea. Head desk really
Oh Jac, he sound like great-great-grandma! :)
Example of a Brummie accent that many can't tell from the Black Country accent my partner has. We've had matching tee-shirts printed now. His says, 'YAM YAM' (Black Country nickname, we Brummies gave them) and mine says 'Brummie'.
cute, jac :)
the hills of virgnia are suppose to be very near 18th century english accents
Jmc, would love to hear more about your organization. If you wouls like to email me, happy2bdancing@yahoo.com
i can't listen to anything my computer is running tooslowyly
Hi Jac.
I hate this being rude situation but my pc is just being well rude

I will email you in the morning ENci my computer and I are having a fight and i am going to bed
Awww JM you too
g'night jmc
you are not the only ones, mine has been kicking me off and on the net all afternoon and evening!
wonder if recent patch hosed something
Some how there is this new Windows Estential 2011 pack. It uninstalled all the way back to 2008 and Service pack 1. And yes Seain it wouldn't suprise me at all
I have been piddling about with these updates since 12pm
Oh dear! My computer's fine.
The Groundhogs - Brummie band - my fave track. http://tinyurl.com/2v395ev
I think mine has a lot to do with the grand old reboot I did in October. Other half had a dodgy update and I refused to instal all updates from that point on
I am done and going. Have a great day
bye Herin,
be well, herin
enci, are you still here?
I should go. No one is interested in listening to music or talking about accents.
BTW - Gerry Rafferty just died.
may he rest in peace
How weird that he just died when I was posting his songs.
indeed.
http://tinyurl.com/36a9tpd
Actually, I'm getting a bit freaked out now. 3 of the 4 people I've talked about just before and after year end have died. Going to zip my mouth up now.:-(
I'm getting scared. I may only have 10 years to live.
three's the charm, they say, so all should be good hereforth
I've still got so much to do. Not ready to go for at least 30 years yet. I may have to haunt you all if I'm cut short.
so long as you don't disrupt the net connection, all good
dcs - if I get cut off mid Babbble grid I may well disrupt the internet connections!
And I doubt I could float on a cloud with harp in hand if there are clues to be given!
firewords with the grain disease
