Morning lynxxx.

hi peach, incredibly wet! Slightly above freezing point and windy. And yours?
We had two days of ice...about two inches.....closed most everything.....most of it is gone now. I think the Northeast is getting hit again though.

that is a lonnnnnng hickup!
It seems to be getter longer
Wow! Sorry 'bout that. Puter is sitting here groaning at me.
glad most is gone now, peach. It is so uncomfortable when everything is closed and you can't get where you need to go.
Indeed.
just the daily hiccup at 2 am in the game, peach.
Oh, yes, I'd forgotten about that.
it used to be about a minute or so, right lyn? Nowadays it is more like 3 or 4 minutes.
Yes
I have 21 left and I'm getting sleepy, so I'll see you all later.....happy babbling.
night peach, sweet dreams

by the way - i refuse to believe there are seven words coming from the first n!!!
you have been much missed!
hi rubyfoo :) All well in France?
lol I greyed out the K in one minute and was SO proud of myself. But indeed, that N is nasty. Only hvae 2 so far.
thanks rubyfoo :) I have been playing later on the day, but it is nice to see some of the morning crew again :)
i agree - the k is rather easy by comparison
well i need a lil breather so im gonna mini-poof!!
see you soon, frogface!
1st column ns - hope this will help. A sort of tide ne4/5, without clothes nu4/6, the same first 3 then what usually follows 'beat' from the 60's/70's 6/36, plural of that 7/52, ladies of the cloth nu4/5, ne 'united kingdom' 4/9, plural of that 5/20.
that really helped, SaraY, thank you. I have never seen that 'beat' word before.
thank you sara, you gave me the n's!!!
I think it is yiddish for an annoying person
it means: a persistently dull, boring pest. Never knew!
yes, exactly rubyfoo. Great word :)
very NY! hahah
funny old world isnt it lol
ooo back by the way
absolutely, and wb
hello froggie!
omg poof again - doorbell

real life can be SO demanding!

Thanks sprite, goodnight.

oh yes, millsbooks, that is an integral part of babbling!
I'm looking for sprite's bad word!
rubyfoo, have you seen that the french rabbit is valid?
bye all.......cuppa time !
ty, no I hadn't seen it. ty ty
it is what some fathers do to their daughters... sex in a family :(
enjoy, millsbook
eeew, didn't see that either!
yeah, rotten word. Rotten thing.
it is a word, the person who does it is the rotten thing
morning all
hello kalia
as a survivor close to my haeart...sorry
hi Kallia :)
passed half without noticing, such a lovely grop this AM. Gave me many words!
true... it is the word that reminds one of the rotten thing.
{{kalia}}
same here Kallia, I know
oh long ago and long past all the angst ruby, but thank you
hugs to you Sprite
and to you too, Kallia.
each of us thinks our problems are tough and then we peek into the lives of others.....
Good morning ladies!!
I am a firm believer in that one should never compare their problems to that of others. Each person's problems are real and deserve attention.
hiya Flask :)
morning Flask
oh how I agree with that Sprite
every ones problems and concerns are equally valid
exactly
And so say me too Sprite!!
yay! :)
I had a very real situation that illustrates that perfectly. When I worked for a small book publisher in her home, her husband was dying from ccancer, at home. It was very sad, but as the boss she had no idea of the effect the whole thing had on her staff, and she treated us very badly during that time. I know that she was going through hell, but so were her staff. She lost 3 staff during that time. And those left were at work when her husband died .
and speaking of doing great things with your life regardless of your problems... I refer to my icon for today :)
oh yes Sprite, rising above the difficulties
oh yes, that is a very good example. Having a really severe situation doesn't mean you should forget about others. And while wrestling with relatively minor problems, one must remember to give them attention and not to belittle them, just because somebody else is in bigger trouble.
yep!.....prime example!
twas not a pleasant time.....but it taught me something
if your boss had been able to remember you were all suffering with and for her, she would have benefitted from the support and the sharing, I think.
lave
Ooops!!
*giggles* I did, this morning, honestly, Flask.
oh yes , but what she did gave the staff the 'freedom' to bitch and moan about the situation, which I don't think any of them really meant, it was her attitude that did that.
oh I haven't yet Flask lol
hence the reason I don't chat!!
Hello all. I was honestly expecting this grid to be really large. we have not had a big one in a while.
oh please chat, Flask. Who cares about the free clues, lol.
hi red, no we are due for one, aren't we!
free clues are great...no need to think LOL
hello red
tomorrow would be a good day for one for Me... maybe not for Others.
Hi Kallia.
not for me tomorrow
hmmm no not really. I could really really use one on Monday though!
I don't care.....I often think some poor wee soul is sitting struggling to find a word....then along comes someone like me and gives them a wee "freebie"
yipee should be a word
I am away next week from Tuesday...off to see my friend glantarrel
love freebies, going to look at chat.
*agrees with kje and waves hi*
hi kje
*waves back*
hi kje.
hello all
exactly Flask!
Is this a nippy wee grid today?
some bits are nippy...others not
Morning all..... not a nice grid today
I am smiling at the combination of un6/27 and nu4/6.
k's were nippy nad the d's
it is moderate, Flask. Some easy parts, some new words, some tough parts.
hiya Norma
Hi Sprite
Hi Norma
nu6/7 combo and av5 are new words for me, so far
the nu's are new for me too Sprite...dont have the av yet
if it helps: the av5 is a boat especially used for dispatches. I didn't even know there was such a thing, lol.
me neither...I'll bear that in mind when I get back to it lol
thanks
yvw :D It is one of the things I like about playing Babble. I keep learning new words. Usually unuseable, but who cares!
love the definition for the nu6/7!
my parcel of art supplies has just arrive :) off to unpack it, back later
enjoy, Kallia!
I will :)
good words, aren't they ChrisP :)
HI
Hello hydra - want any clues before I go tunnelling again?
yes - I don't often look up the meanings, but I'm glad I did this time
hi scouser! I didn't see hydra... did I miss her coming in? Hey lady! *hug*
Hugs
Hi sprite - I can see she's online but may not be chattering. Some strange words in this grid !
how is the job going, lady?
I start on the 14eb
yes, some new ones. As Chris said, the nu6/7 are fun to learn and remember :)
oh how stupid of me, you told me that before, lady. Looking forward to starting?
Sprite you are not stupid. you have other things to think of.
yep, but I care about you, so I want to remember the important things in your life :)
However, none of us is a nu6 that is certain !
lol I second that!
Hugs
so... are you looking forward to starting, lady? Excited or a bit scared or both?
both
will think of you. And I am certain you will do well. I hope you will have a lot of fun too!
thanks
Ok I am going have a great day
whazzup for today, lady?

good morning, my dear babble friends
aaaaand it's official. I am officially paranoid in the chog now. Have NO idea what I did to offend everyone, but I wish someone would tell me, as I would humble apologize
*humbly*
LOL Trif! Good morning :)
Good morning FM, and I am actually not kidding. I seem to be a pariah these days, and have no idea why. if you know, I would greatly appreciate a clue
I have no idea dear.
although NB no longer talks to me :(
me either! though the provenance of that, at least in my case, isn't too hard to suss out.
ditto
Ah well there are lots of other lovely babblers out there.
well, I do have some good news to share -- my littlest daughter, the one I call tertiare, asked me to pleeease set her up as a babbler the other day! This is HUGE, as she has some pretty significant learning issues, so the idea that she is interested in ANY thing having to do with words, or letters, or (dread) spelling is very encouraging
plus, it means I now have a second generation babbler! :)
adun c
sorry - my finger clipped onto the space bar... :(
*slipped - difficult to type when you have a cat in your lap! ~_^
That is great Trif! Hi Bremen
Hi Trif. And hi everyone. Just wanted to chip in and say I managed to offend someone a while ago, too, and have been kinda avoiding the chog, but I think it has blown over now. Glad to hear about your daughter wanting to Babble!
she is lolo224, should you come across her
good morning hydra!
Can't imagine you offending anyone hydra!
We will keep an eye out for her Trif
in other news, I made 8 bagels for the kiddos last night before I went to bed. When I came down to the kitchen this morning, there were just three left!
Oh I did, FMitch. Believe me! I can't say more in case they are lurking. I was 'guilty of associating with the wrong people'. Yet I take everyone as I find them, so it was all very upsetting. 'Nuff said! I have 42 words left to find and beetroot soup to make :-)
It was the house elves, Trif.
hydra, is it true that beetroot soup can be used to induce labor, or is that an old wives tale?
*le sigh* glad you are back chatting again
I heard that of raspberries, Trif.
and a good hot curry
Thanks, FMitch. I almost deleted my blog and gave up Babble. But as you can see, I didn't.
mostly here in the states they speak of chinese food....
clue for left corner A please for NBT
phantom: puddle
mmmm I am cooking sweet and sour pork for lunch today when I tear myself away from the chat.
Ooh, that sounds lovely, FMitch.
wildcat, scroll down to 6:15
LOL ty
LOL - don't thank me!
I can sympathise with you Hydra.....I didn't chat for months for the same reason......and when I do come back it happened again!!!!
we can blame and thank bremen's cat for the clue.
ty for pointing it out
Hi Flask.
is your "same reason" the same as my same reason, do you think?
people are always going to have issues with other people. the trick is to remember it's not about you - it's their problem
So now I just jump in n out when it suits me........well mine was quite well publicised!!
publicity is just a way to shift the "blame" from them to you. don't fall for it
v true wild.
thats true wildcat......however when all in chog are putting their tuppence worth in, its hard to remember that!
I know it shouldn't but it always amazes me when people pick at each other and work hard at not getting along
true as well flask
I seem to attract the sensitive ones!!!
lol
I wonder if Dr_G had any idea what he was creating when he started this site :)
lol...I think not Mitch!
probably not. but anytime you get more than one person in a group there will be conflicts
and it's off to work for me. hagd e1
thats called competition, that is!!!
Hi Flask. Sorry I didn't reply. I had to go downstairs and check my oven. Sounds like you have had real bad luck on here. I'm so sorry. I really don't understand people who are united by a game being so petty as to snip at each other on the chog.
Bye wild.
you too wildcat!!!
Hi and bye, Wildcat
i actually wouldn't mind if it was JUST snipping on the chog. It's the email campaigns that get to me. If you have an issue with someone here, discuss it here!
If thats what they're like in chog....I would hate to meet them face to face!
I second that!!!
I come in peace. Hi everyone
Correct Trif!!!
good morning, gramma!
Let's hope the nice folk cancel out the nasties. Hi gramma!
Hi Gramma....
But on the positive side I have been so lucky to get to know and meet Ata and Haz.
Hi gramma
Maybe we should discuss sex politics or religion, instead of silly words? We could get the chog down to nothing after a flurry of opinions.
Yes....and I have met Lillian, in fact she was here on Saturday!
right now I would be delighted if someone could discuss the lowest row e, which I cannot shift and need for nbt
How lovely, Flask. Sounds as if you have made some good friends through Babble.
How about THE EN*. past tense
Yes.....am very fond of her!
bless you gramma, nbt
we get on well.....
Trif, do you have en + a bill that's over---?
en5/14, 5/14, 6/27, 5/10 and 7/40
I'm stuck on the nu 6 and 7. Any clues?
the strangest of those e's is the 7 - think Woodstock it was a pop ........... minus the f
Yes, that IS an odd word.
Ty, FMitch
nu6 = most of being disrobed plus your kith and *** (backwards)
Thanks FMitch. Another weird one for the vocabulary!
thank you all for the e help
that one is yiddish
and of course pl
Hi Esprit.
hy hydra, everyone
Just found the sc words which somewhat resemble that es7 in that they appear to lack the correct first letter.
Love the def of the nu6 - a persistently dull, boring pest. Hi Esprit.
Oven is calling again. See you later!
That is a word we can use in everyday converstation
I just looked it up too. Fun one!
Trif, are you still here?
yes, here I am molly - sorry, was on phone for a minute
What in the world could you, as sweet as you are, have done to offend someone?
you would be surprised! but I have no idea, which is why I was puzzled by my sudden invisible status lately
you all have done much to reassure this morning
good!
What does "invisible status" mean?
and hello Molly.
Hey FM
hmm...how to explain? people who used to speak to me in the chog suddenly seemed to be unable to see me.
anyway, on to other topics.
Oh, okay, I get you now.
Time for lunch here. Happy Babbling and TTFN.
this is classic Trifioso - I signed up for an online 21 day yoga challenge, totally overdid it the first day, and have been unable to manage days 2, 3 and thus far, 4. Hoping I will at least TRY the online class today.
bye FM! enjoy that faboo lunch!
enable does not accept "yipee!" yipee.
Ok, fireworks for me too.....any clues needed before I go??
huzzah for flask! the third y would be appreciated - have ye 4, 6 yi 4, 6 and yi 4, 7
think of Billy Connolly!!
its a plural....
Scottish for the number 1
merci!
Got it, Trif??
ach, yah
ok....lolol
Trif, I got a low impact yoga DVD and it doesn't over work you. It's called "Yoga For Arthritis" but the woman who leads it calls it "Yoga for the rest of us."
excellent!
bye for now!
phone....
I am a firm believer in the idea that a workout that leaves someone sore after the first workout will just make people give up before they get started.
hi all
I don't understand how se 6/24 is a word. If I were to turn in an English paper that included the sentence "I se6/24 a letter to my Mother", it would have red marks all over it.
Morning JMC
at least one red mark molly
hmmm i really should up date my icon
Good morning! Any update on our Aussie friends?
hi car
which ones do you want to know about?
All of them! The flooding is so awful!
herin is too far south
so is lynxxx
gort is in the middle but apparently on a mountain
the word is still out on daykat
that is all i know
I made a bunch of email friends last year following teen circumnavigator Jessica Watson. They have been sending me updates every day. It sounds like it's still pretty bad over there. In parts of the country.
I know most of them are not directly affected, but the emotional toll on the country as a whole....
that does seem high car
I meant email friends from Australia.
mrp, herin and sally (?) were on the other morning, and they filled me in.
that is what i assumed molly :-)
oh mrp! haven't seen her in ages!
help with the A in the corner please
Struggling with it myself!
a + what you do with your donut, different spelling
Ty Molly! Great clue!
Hi, everyone. Thanks for the concern for we Aussies. Can tell you that Daykat and I are both in Western Australia - as far from the flooding as California is from New York! As far as I know, no babblers are directly affected by this catastrophe. Cannot believe what I've been seeing on the tele.
Oh dofith! TY for checking in!!!!!!
ty molly i have been trying everything but that!
hi dofith and glad to hear about you and daykat
i think that accounts for everyone now
I live in Perth, capital of Western Australia, and daykat is a couple of hundred kms south.
Thanks for chiming in Dofith. Prayers out for all affected by these terrible floods.
Did you know, we were each other's bride's maids?!
Awesome!
no really? how cool!
i like the fact that some babblers know each other personally
Thanks, all of you. The concern shown by everyone is one os the few good things to come out of this tragedy.
:-)
I need the top row E and A please?
ep4/5 sword
Got the E.
ay4/6 and pl
i need the bottom e
Got it! TY NBT! Now I must get my work finished!

anyway, I am off the phone. thrilling, I know
hi trif
hello jmc
you a few people have been mad at me on babble too and i just pretend i don't notice and eventually they get bored with it
i wish i was as amiable in person as i am online lol!
thanks jmc. I just wish I knew what made them so mad at me? I mean, I know there was some fracas a few months back, but that is long buried, or so I thought
The Double Life Of JMC. : P
you know it may be that they really are just leaving or whatever when you come it too
Good Morning Babble friends
:-P wait till we meet in person and see what a bitch i am! lol
hi river!
sometimes yes, of course. but lately I have noticed that I say hello, or whatnot, to people and they absolutely will not answer. strange
good morning river!
happens to me all the time
gosh that happens to me too! i either type *sulks* or ignore it
Trif, I can tell you that I have come on here and posted something and been totally ignored because people are so into their own conversations. I posted about my kids finding their cat and the making bagels discussion just went right on as if I was not here.
matter of fact just yesterday i was commenting on a conversation and it was like i wasn't here
was that today molly? oh, gosh, Iam sorry if that was me!
i figure they are just caught up in what they are saying
No ,that was a while ago.
{{{Trif}}}
that happened to me too yesterday - I dont let it bother me

don't tell welki i hugged you -- i have a reputation to maintain
hello everyone
being in babbleland has actually improved my manners generally i have to admit
hello Annie
Honestly, I think some people just don't read the chat log. I was cluing the other night and someone asked for a clue I had given two boxes down.
hi annie
Hey Annie.
Hi River, Molly, jmc
it depends onthe speed of their connection too i think
Could it be that people are so into the grid that they dont read the chog?
when i was in kenya i could not keep up with chat in some places
sometimes it is just hard to keep up with the chat.
Good point JMC. I hadn't thought of that.
hi gamer
I quite often get ignored lol
hello all

Oh sorry, it was River who wanted the ad. Anyway, sing out if anyone wants a hint.
Molly, I tried your clue re: the donut, dont see it but I sure would love a donut with my coffee now
Annie...ad plus most of the cap you put on one who acts the dummy.
What would you do with that coffee and donut?
that donut clue also works for oreo's with milk
du4 it, I know, Kap. so what am I not seeing?
I wouldn't have gotten that
thanks Molly
There is another letter that makes the k sound, sort of.
GOT IT ! Thanks Molly!
gotta look that up
that ad means curved inward, hooked
thanks Annie
I'm pretty sure that will never be on my commonly used words list Annie. : D
youre welcome, How is Keith?
he is great - you wont believe what that crazy boy did yesterday.......
no school due to the snow storm - he wanted to go to a friends house on the other side of the lake. We couldnt bring him - roads bad and we needed to get to work. My DH told him if he could find a way he could go. So Keith got out his cross country gear and skied 10 miles to get there. Had to jump out of the way of one snowplow - cant stop that boy
what?
River, good for him!
scared the living daylights of of me when I found out what he did......cross country skiing on the roads during white out conditions - yikes
river, it would have scared me too. he sounds like the ki4 of kid that will meet challenges in life and overcome them
he definately is that....
I dont know him but he is dear to me...the family must be so proud of what he has overcome so far. He also has a loving family which is so important.
thank you Annie
your welcome
*youre
I must get to work - will save my last 52 for later - have a good day all
bye river...I have to get off also...will be back later
have a good day Annie **Poof**
hello all
hi TO
p
p
hi teach
Morning TO
en p
morning molly. morning scrabs.
Haha, I guess I am not lurking anymore. I am eating toast with one hand and typing with the other. I was going to say hello after I finished eating.
Scrabs multi-tasks.
Whenever possible!
i am watching travel deals. posh resot in miami, $166.night for three nights, airfare under $200. sounding good right about now.
I have a mini-vacation--today thru Sunday--for XC-skiing and snowshoeing.
But then you'll have to cope with airtravel hassles.
i am off until tuesday.
Good for you, Owl.
are you going to visit nj this year?
I am thinking about finding a time, although my sister is planning trips here in Apr and June. I can drive there on a Fri and return on a Sunday, for a short visit.
we are having a reunion weekend of feb 12.
class, that is. it's the school's 50th anniversay
I know that I work the weekend of Feb 4-6.
Are you looking forward to that?
not really. i just feel i should try to go.
Phantom: denude
just found the bunnies
baby bunnies? ki4/8
no. french bunnies
Aha. I had found la5/12 with a different consonant at the nd, and missed the bunnies.
i only know that word from watching st. elsewhere. dr, craig,
the a at the bottom left corner is taunting me.
I looked at that A earlier, then gave up.
a in bottom corner is the ad - means curved inward or hooked - clued back around 7:45
i keep typing adduce
ty, wvteach.. that was the nudge I needed, found it (-:
Hi wv and Aloy
hi scrab
hurrying to finish, have a Scrabble match this morning.. hi Scrabbs, glad you have some time off to enjoy the white stuff
hi aloy
hi TO (-:
Yep, my friend, a preschool teacher, works til 12, then we will spend the afternoon on the trail.
can we get sats on that a?
adduct? adductor muscles....
scrabbler, it is frigid here and windy. do you go out in that cold?
ad5.16, ends with shorthand for NOT aunt
Metatarsus adductus--seen in newborns--feet are curved in due to in utero constraint.
16F here, so lots of layers. I have ski goggles to use of needed.
oops, gotta run, bbl to finish.. ciao for now
i am going to the ski shop today to find gloves that are adequate. my fingers are always cold.
have fun, Scrabs.. no snow here but was 25 degrees last night, brrr
real poof
Not in Merriam-Webster Dictionary. In another = altered spelling of adunque.
i saw the weather map - hard to find warmth in the us at present
Get mittens, Owl.
i had fleece gloves but left them at the hospital. i called the laundry but they said they did not have them. only one pair works for me and they sprung a leak.
Hello...no snow here, but water pipes froze last night, and we are on the Gulf of Mexico
tx, phae?
AL
oh yes, you have been hammered
oh yes, you have been hammered
Did the pipes explode?
no...just no water
we are in one of those condo's that you park under...on stilts
i called in sock today. just could not deal, though i shoveled and went in on time yesterday. i felt dizzy this morning.
sock?
Doyou spend the winter there, phaeton?
lol
scrabbler, do you eat fish or are you vegan?
i only ask because i see good fish recipe on today shoe, easy
no...first time here...normally we are in TX, but last two winters have been with daughter in NC, taking a break from taking care of littleuns
Scrabs, how scary is it that a good friend's infant grandson has been in a daycare with children with RSV -- they just found out yesterday and his mom's staying home with him today -- no fever . . .
I stopped eating seafood in the early summer. I still eat cheese + eggs but am close to going vegan. I can buy veggie based "cheese".
well they also roasted winter vegetables with spice like cinnamon nutmeg and some guinness!
Une, RSV is epidemic every winter. 100% of kids get an RSV illness by age 3 yrs, but the little one--under 3 mo or so can get quite sick.
How old is the boy, Une?
what is RSV?
3 months . . .
Owl, I love roasted veggies--potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, etc.
respiratory syncytial virus--a virus that causes cold symptoms, cough, and, especially in kids under 2-3 yrs--> wheezing in the chest.
he has some congestion but no fever so far . . .
is that the same as croup?
Like any respiratory virus there is no medical treatment other than supportive care---keep the kid comfortable and hydrated.
Croup is caused by Parainfluenza virus.
thanks, scrabs, that's what I had found online -- comfortable, cuddled and push fluids
Fever is not the concern, Une. Fever is the body's defense vs germs, so is beneficial. What to watch for is breathing hard and fast. If kids need to be hospitalized we give oxygen, and if they cannot drink safely, an IV for fluids. Then we just wait 2-4 days til they improve.
phantom - puddle
still can't get that ad5
http://tinyurl.com/4nmynsr---recent article about "fever phobia"---major problem that pediatricians try to counter
tx so much, scrabs -- passed that info along
AD5 = A + you D*** a donut in your coffee, only change the last letter
BTW, mornin babblers. ;)
ad5 ad + not your aunt
ad + start to complement to aunt
time to go. bye all.
Bye owl
back in a mo . . . *poof*
ty
55 left. Time for a break.
Une! What a gorgeous photo of your Mom.
3 words for bunny rabbits in here scwabby:)))
la,5,6 and 5
baby bunnies can also be called ki 4/8 (young of small fur-bearing animals)
indeed so
rabbits everywhere!
I thought ki 8 were cattle
Ki 8???
i think that ki 8 is the first one, the baby bunnies is the last ki 8
ki 4/8
google says a baby bunny is a kitten. ???
I have all the k's and don't have a clue which ones are rabbits.
la 5/12 is not a rabbit.
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8& oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=l apins
itt is
and ill head off to the pb lol
the other is a stone
Sorry, the THIRD la 5/12 is not a rabbit.
now i am happy lol
It gets confusing when only one number is used to identify a word, like la 5.
la*** lazuli !! Good morning Babble friends !!
now we are organized, lets celebrates with brunch! lol
howdy diane
I should NOT be playing, I should be packing... but........ we leave for AZ early Friday morning, if road conditions allow :-)
Hi crossy :-))
bailing out on us eh diane? it is a balmy minus 15 here atm
I will try to finish today's grid, and then I won't be on for about 4 days or so. I may pop in to say hi though from some hotel/motel along the way
lol@ packing, all i need is a duffel with an i-pad,a bible,a bottle of whiskey,a spare change of socks and undies and my passport and visa and i am ready to globe trot!
it is -23 here crossy.... wind chill too... MORE snow. Hubby just got the "thumbs up" regarding his retina and the two surgeries... all is well and we can now depart.
you travel light :-)
only way to fly
rest you can buy where you end up at some dollar store lol
we are going for 2 1/2 months... I need a few more thing than that.... I can't golf ALL the time !!
lol
in AZ? all you need is a t-shirt,pair of white shorts,flip-flops and a string bikini:)))
we stay in our son's home in Casa Grande... sort of like playing house in someone else's home !! YIKES.... string bikini at age 70....!! NO WAY,... in fact, NEVER did happen !!!
Diane, don't you love how men assume every woman looks good in a string bikini? : P
LOL.... I know that Crossy is blind ...
hi Molly :-))
lol
where in AZ are you going, diane?
We will be in Mesa in March
Love it down there.
and a tease
Casa Grande... midway between Phoenix and Tucson
Oh he's blind. Suddenly, many things are making sense now. : P Hey TNana.
Ahhh....I've heard that is really nice, too.
Hi Molly - everyone - good morning.
this is our 4th time down there.... son built a home there 5 years ago.... he and family use it when they can get away... his inlaws use it... but only family.
Sounds like a great deal!
Do you fly or drive?
Casa Grande is smaller... but everything there you could want. Golf courses all around and his home is in Mission Royale.... has its own golf course too.
Drive... and I'm keeping an eye on the road conditions !
Small is better.
We stay with some friends in a retirement community.
Someday we will take our 5th wheel down for a couple of months - but would want to stay in a less congested area.
You almost HAVE to drive with all of the stuff you have to take for 2-1/2 months!
Hope you have safe, dry roads!
sounds nice too... we have quite a few friends who spend the winter in Mesa and Apache Wells
There's a place called Apache Junction, too, that is pretty neat.
It's your state that I'm keeping track of...and into Idaho. So far it looks okay... Monida pass has snow but roads are clear...
Yes... it could be Apache Junction... not sure but I know they are close
RVer's! Been to Casa Grande and Mesa. Nice area but too dry for hubby
phaeton - that's a name for a very nice motor home - LOL
When are you leaving, Diane?
yes it is! That's what we used to travel in
Ahhhh.....we've seen some in RV parks and they are beautiful.
So, you are north of Montana, eh?
we did the drive over the Apache Trail a couple of years ago... lovely scenery... Roosevelt dam... had lunch at Tortilla Flat...
I liked Yuma, but hubby prefers TX
we are in Alberta... directly above you !!
I was in Tortilla Flat last March - it was flooded and we couldn't go all the way through it.
Beautiful area.
we've never been there in the summer months... I would NOT like the heat
clue for the al6?
My hubby hunted big game in Alberta in the late 70's, early 80's. Loves it up there. Wants to take me to Banff and Jasper one of these days.
hi phaeton :-)
No, I could not take AZ in the summer, either.
I don't have ANY A's yet, phaeton
I have a few pictures on my profile taken near Jasper... I've lived in Alberta all my life, except for 2 years in Victoria, B.C. We are just east of Edmonton, so not far from the Rockies
al + grapes grow on a ****
ok - al + heard it through the grape****
and now I must make some breakfast... hubby has finished doing the walks and the driveway... I think porridge is on the menu !! I'll be back later :-)
ha - we had the same idea, river
Oh, it must be beautiful where you are, diane
ty river
hello everyone - stopping in quick to look for a few more words
We have views out every one of our windows of the rockies. We moved here from Michigan. Hubby loves to bird hunt. I said I would move here if we could see the mountains!
Trent...I am from Michigan...where were you in MI?
Saginaw area, you?
I grew up in Troy, near Detroit, but we live in Harrisville now
my daughter lives in Saginaw...have you been gone long?
Used to go up to Harrisville for a craft show every year, I believe.
Three years.
My sister is in Rochester Hills, not far from Troy.
yep, labor day weekend, still there.
My daughter is still in Saginaw. She teaches 1st grade at St. Stephens.
Been gone from Troy 40 years
Too crazy down there, right?
My son-in-law is fire fighter in Saginaw
Oh, ok.
yep..can't stand all the traffic and crowds
I worked for Saginaw County for 20 years.
Hubby worked for GM/Delphi.
Retired and moved out here.
mine worked for Chrysler..retired and we travel in the winter
Sounds good. My hubby ended up taking another job - worried about his pension and healthcare because of the bankruptcy. Hopefully, he'll be done in a few years and then we can travel. In the meantime, we take the 5th wheel on short trips. Living out here, it feels like you're on vacation all the time. Yellowstone is very close and so are other beautiful things to see.
We are still young - in our 50's.
me too barely...he is 69
We love going out to Montana...have relatives there
It is a beautiful state. When our friends and relatives come to visit, they say they understand why we moved out here. At first they all thought we were crazy!
Help for lower, right A?
yep...thought of moving to MT, but didn't want to leave family year round
That's the hard part.

The longer I live, the more firmly I believe that men are in fact from Mars and women are from Venus!

Morning everyone
hello lyn and helo to everyone else!! xxx
hi frog and lynxx. how are things in Aud lynn?
Soggy!
The news is just incredible, such a large area flooded.
I can't beleive 75% of Queensland myself - that is huge! Flooding in other States too now though not as bad as Qld
It's in so many areas that probably never would have expected to have something like that happen too...
Was that part one of the areas that has been without rain for years?
Not sure on that Red - a lot of Queenslnad is very tropical, cyclones etc but some parts like the south-west corner would be dry most of the time. Generally they have been having so much rain this last few months the ground is sodden and couldn't absorb anymore and the main dam was 180% full(!) The rain had to go somewhere - and it did!
I dont think its the same part. I read about which used to be really great farm land... It is just amazing.
your turtlehead isn't red
lynxxx. you're not near Brisbane are you?
i may try again later, but i'm just fiddling with letters now. up way too early, not thinking clearly!

Hey Judi - Welsh isn't nearly as wonky as English LOL
I suppose Gaelic is worse than Welsh.

Could I get a clue for ad5 and al6, please?
Wish you could do soldering Kallia - need some tonight LOL

ad 5 is what you do with your donut...different ending
Santa Clause is all called Saint .... respelled leave out he third letter
lad
Marc....ad5 ....+ 1st part of your mothers brol
pipe joint in bathroom started leaking tonight - dining room ceiling has interesting markings now. Luckily there was an isolation valve which i finally managed to turn the water off with, so just waiting for it all to dry out...

pe5 = a pod seed + 3/4 of a climbing plant

Thanks, Kallia.
oh heck, just what you needed Glan..
Plumbing problems are the worst.
has someone been banging around in there?
got the al as well thanks
think it's a result of some work done yesterday - we must have moved the bath slightly
guessed that was probably it
Ugh, I still can't find it. D:
half the plaster fell off the bathroom walls with the tiles, but I kinda expected that - every other room has ebded up being replastered, why should this one be different?
oh 'eck, I don't know how you deal with things like that. As soon as anything goes wrong with the flat I just feel like crawling under the duvet and letting the men sort it out..
Oh, and I have to stop briefly. D:
the men in my life don;t sort it out NB LOL
Kallia - didn;t get your pod seed climbing plant clue
lol Glan...I AM a man in my life...you'd think I'd have some idea ;)
Thanks so much, Marc and Molly. Have a headache and really can't focus well....will eat and come back later. Thanks again.
ROFL NB
Plumbing is always a wrenching experience. (sorry)
ouch!
grrrrrroan
It always leaves me flush with anger.
oh, they are getting worse....
The song "Danny Boy" is really about plumbing... "The pipes, the pipes are calling me..."
If you're not careful I may start dripping sarcasm...
Heavens. I've plunged to dark depths.
Where's Ruru? My pu4's would be appreciated by someone.
They are appreciated!

my 15 year old son is setting the dinner table while i sit here and play babble. i didn't even ask him to!!
love him!!!
Oh, nice, GE!
i wonder what he wants?!?
maybe he's just a good kid :)
A good dinner is my guess
hmmm that is a possibility
AND he's a good kid.
we've had a rough week. a kid from his class killed himself last week and the wake was yesterday and then my friend died yesterday from breast cancer. I think we are all feeling a little clingy.
hang on tight
clingy is good when things like that happen
Oh no -- that's too much!
I see why your icon is the pink ribbon, GE.
making us all appreciate each other a little more
my 14yr old son came out of his room to stand next to my desk
looking at me
Why, sue?
I asked what he wanted and he was shocked that I knew he wanted something

ad + the first part of the name of the good king whom Macbeth kills
would never have gotten that
thx bugsaw
me neither. It was clued this morning
Hi TO I'm pondering Macbeth and trying to remember the name of the king. Oh, my.
It is quite a common Scottish name. Could rhyme wih with you do with cookies and milk
what you do.....
Scarf? as in I'm going to scarf down some cookies and milk. I did make scones today for our tea. But other than that my Scottish ration is not very high.
Got it bugsaw. I just didn't get far enough into the name.
sure, How did I forget King Scarf? ! trying again......
We're having great weather for Scotland down here in the NW. The clouds are hangin' on the heath and all that.
I love how clouds do that. It looks like fog on the land and always makes me think of Scotland, even tho I have never been there
We had a snow day yesterday but the temp went up so we have slush everywhere today
Exactly, I think sometimes actually seeing places one has dreamed of spoils the image. We're going to see Portland, Oregon next week--can't spoil that broad-shouldered city on the river. (Or is that Chicago?)
I got totally lost in Portland once when I couldn't get off the freeway and back on it again. Now I never stop!!
hello, what's our theme for the day?
Oh, just getting through Portland ranks high on my life time achievements. Everytime it seems they have added or subtracted a portion of the freeway as I have remembered it.
I think it is our favourite scientist harpjane but I am a day or two late with my dragonfly.
yesterday we had like 1-2 feet of snow andit was 10 degrees.. today the snow is gone.. and its 50 degrees.. .and will be 50 for the next 7 days
dragonflies are good
I like them more than scientists so I cheated
Where are you, cos?
colorado springs
Wow, cosdem we are also going to be in balmy weather for the next few days.
my dad was a scientist if you count meteorology
but the yard is a mess now lol
Oh, it sounded like what we had here in GA earlier in the week.
ill enjoy the nice weatehr while i can.. february is really bad for colorado weatherwise
my Dad was a scientist too but was only famous in his field so who would know that?
I have always wanted to go to Colorado,Cosdem. Will get there one day.
oh, the scientist has to be famous? not just our favourite?
u should. its a beautiful state
yes it is cos, i loved the Garden of the Gods when I was in your neck of the woods
I don't think so harpjane. You should use your Dad and explain it in your message! We can all learn something
garden of the gods - my absolute favorite place
but the Dunes are my all time favorite Colorado spot
i just love how it's free to the public too
my dad died so long ago i don't have any digital photos of him, bugs
but it's a nice thought
i could keep with my cartoon theme and go with Sherman & Mr. Peabody
I had to scan a pic of my Dad when I used him as an icon for something else. It worked and I was suprised by how many people actually read it
Does anyone remember who the scientist was in Tudor the Turtle cartoons?
maybe i could use the mad scientists from MST 3K?
by the time i decide I'll be done with the grid!
clue for the al6?
nu6?
dont have the al, soory
May I please have a clue for eo5-10? Thanks

Gapeach wowed them here!!!
I am sorry that you miss her but grateful for the way she passed
An se 6/24 is past tense of an se4/5 word suefrad625
se6/27 word is se4/5 word plus now down suefrad625
it was time, bugs -- she had progressive dementia for nearly 10 years . . .
not that that made it any easier
isnt that 6,24 min
we are waiting for my mother to let go of this world for the same reason Une. It will be a relief when it happens.

The last three un words use the same base word. Use the un then think of a small boy (add vowel to end). Then, add various suffixes which will appear.

hi all
It is ad+ first 3 letters of your mother's brother's title. Hey pini1
thanks mark
Haven't seen you in a while, pini!
last se6 = se6 before - last two letters and opposite of down
according to the cia factbook, you have a choice of languages "Sinhala (official and national language) 74%, Tamil (national language) 18%, other 8% note: English is commonly used in government and is spoken competently by about 10% of the population"

Yw. stid!
I've been incredibly busy at work (with new apps)...so, I've been laying low when it comes to being online...
...hopefully that will change since the deadline is Saturday.

51 left and losing interest ..
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Hi Min. If you really want to know how I am, I'm fine physically, except that the ankle I inujured back in 2009 is hurting again months later. I'm not fine emotionally, a bit cheesed off right now, but that's another story and has to do with kids and stepkids and food. I finished the grid not long after the flip, so I was free to be a grumpy old woman yesterday. LOL. This evening, I have watched a young vixens two brothers fight over the right to mate with her, leaving her bleeding and whimpering in pain in my garden. She's okay now, I've fed her and no doubt she'll be stronger to choose which, if either, later.
Back in 2010, I meant! I can't keep up with the year changing every 12 months. LOL.
It actually looked like she got in the middle to try and stop them fighting, but she's so tiny. Her mother was a little bigger. Haven't seen last year's Mum and Dad so far this year.
Congratulations Jacula on finishing grid early.Hooray
Pinikula,if you're still here, I love your icon. Very cool
Thanks Min.
any cluers still here ? I have 2 words left... have to get to bed as we're leaving for Arizona at 6 a.m. tomorrow !
Yes, I can clue.
se 6/27 please ?
What do you need dianedecoder? I am saving my last word, but I will probably enter it very soon. It's late.
se 6/27 is se 4/5 word plus not down diandedecoder.
se6/67 is a joke, diane.
okay... thanks for that one !! both of you :-)
Oh no! The little vixen has just gone back and the males are starting with the fighting again.
y/w, diane.
I never even tried that, as the grid wouldn't take pinup ... or maybe is has to be pin-up
yw
6 words shy of imaginary fireworks! al6/27, anyone? please?
last word is es 7/40
al + a climbing plant
es: like a celebtration without the beginning consonant
thks diane!
2nd in6/21 please?
and THANK YOU PastorJ.... for fireworks. Great clue !!
My son should be getting up soon. He has to pick his sister up at 5am to take her to Stansted airport for her flight to Slovenia. A day after he picked her up from Birmingham Airport arrival at 10.45 pm from Barcelona. Slovenia is a trip she's slipped in between Barcelona and Hungary. There's brotherly love for you!
yw@
i mean yw!
in + arctic aboriginal people
in6/21 is either sex between family members or in + animal home, a bear maybe, + a vowel.
trying to think of another clue
Oh, that in6 clue didn't sit to well with what I just said about brotherly love. There's no in6/21 going on, I assure you!

Hello Pastor J!How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
ya, congrats, diane!

4 words to go and i can pretend i have sparklers!
nu6/7 combo please?
nu6 and its plural refers to annoying and boring pest of a person. First three letters of naked followed by a misspelling of one of the devil's names.
nu 6/36 word is nu plus ki 4/9 word reversed Pastor J
nu 7/52 is plural of the nu 6/36 word I clued Pastor J.
whew! gottem - thanks!
Well donw, PastorJ.
now i only need the last pa5/6 combo! (i assume it's a combo)
you guys give awesome clues for such screwy words!
pa6 is pa + workbench tool
shorten for the pa5
pa5 is what dan just clued but without the vowel to end it.
pa5/18 is pa plus *ehicle *dentification *umber Pastor
wow! thanks! first time to finish in a looooooooong time! thanks to all for the great clues!
pa 6/30 is plural of the pa 5/18 word I clued Pastor J.
ad5?
ad + first part of aunt's hubby
a pa5 is the large oblong shield that archers used to use for protection in old battles.
ty PastorJ
ad = hooked, or curved inwardly. A + a misspelling of what you do with your biscuit/cookie in your hot drink.
yw
ad5: short term professor is called an ad****t dan2bit.
du4/10 is the correct spelling for dipping your biscuit/cookie into a hot drink, btw.

un6 = naked.
Go dan2bit go!
I'll bet they're all related.... my last 3 un words were !
