we have been having all sorts of facilities drama with the HS swim team -- the managers of the facilities have not been faithful in heating the different pools and such. at one of the meets last week, the water was -- no lie -- 45 degrees! Swimmers were CRYING during their races,and the coaches were LIVID. The towns pay to use these facilities, and this is just unacceptable!
Saturday's meet was lovely -- nice pool, nice and warm, good seating, nice competitors. A very welcome change
that is horrible - those poor kids
at least secondo is only diving - she does her warm ups and then her six dives, and then she is done. the swimmers are in and out of the pool for hours, with lots of wait time between heats. it was GROSS
my kids never got into swimming competitively - they swim well for fun but they are more field and ski kids
secondo does field hockey in the fall and lax in the spring, and dives in the winter. it's a good mix, for her.
her pattern seems to be that she gets very into something for a while, and then wants to try the next thing. it's fine with me, as long as she at least finishes the season/year out of each thing.
and that's all my babble time spent for this morning. off to work with me, and good morning to you all!

TO, if there is something odd on the bill, the best thing to do is to go physcially to the hospital and sit with the billing people and have them explain it line by line. They and the hospital are the only ones that can decipher it.

The only thing I ask them to bring me back from their world travels is a fridge magnet typical of the place where they have been. I've got a fridge magnet from almost everywhere in the world except almost one. The 'almost one' was the USA. Customs there tried to take it from my daughter in case it was a potenital weapon of mass destruction.

oh and alway get the pat down and never the x-ray because i am a 3 times cancer patient and must avoid all unneeded x-rays i have a pass on this as the airport x-rays use a scatter type of ray thats stops at skin level unlike med x-rays and can give skin cancer to those prone to it

Gas grills seem to be almost out of fashion here in UK. I HATE electric toaster toast, it's so dry. What am I going to do when my gas oven with overhead grill finally dies?

You can still get gas cookers with 'in oven' grills that you have to bend double to see. But who wants to bend double to check how their toast is doing? Time to re-open the old fireplace, methinks. Nothing beats toast done on a long fork over an open fire.
are gas ovens on the way out there? We just bought a new gas stove last month; the burner is on the bottom (which makes the oven seem HUGE, BTW)

I have been looking at all the stuff I am going o have to learn about during the nursing course I am hoping to strt this year and i seriously did not realise how much work was involved in nursing
pharmacolgy is about what drugs do. So, depending on what field you are considering entering, you need to study the drugs that normally are used.
I dont have a question right now but in the coming months I just might be needing your nursing knowledge

Nurses stop doctors ending up in jail! Just as school secretaries enable Head Teachers to run a school.
Ialways knew that nurses worked hard and they are very hands on with patients but I never realised just how much they do or how busy they are

Nurses also clear up shit and worse, talk to patients and families, clean up after everyone....

my last 2 children were both delivered by midwives and I started thinking how they did a much better job of it than the doctor who delivered my first one.
Being a doctor is good, but being a nurse sometimes enables you to do more good.
crystalle, I've been an RN for 41 years. In that time I've worked as a charge nurse in Newborn nursery; helped set up the first NICU in a hospital, worked as a county health nurse, doing home visits and school visits, ran immunization clinics, etc. I spent 34 years working ICU (most of that in CV-ICU) and was a CCRN (board certified in critical care nursing) for 25 years of that time; and am now running a prenatal clinic. In all of that time I only hated one job: triage nursing for an insurance company (I only did it for 10 months)

I have spoken with many nurses and been an observerand I now realise that a nurse is an important and vital part of a hospital. So please do not feel that I was putting your job down or demeaning the work you have done. I actually applaud you.
