my parents doctor is great in france.when i first got menieres disease my old gp kept telling me there was nothing wrong and take a holiday but when i went to france and saw my parents gp he said it was in my head so i moaned at my mam saying he was the same as my gp and she said he was saying there was something wrong in my head and i should see a consultant

he couldn't understand that i couldn't go to my gp and tell him i wanted to see a consultant as it doesn't work like that here
vertigo, and tinnitus.i stopped taking the medicine years ago

i also suffer from basiliar(done't think thats spelt right)migraine which makes me pass out, no pain just out for the count

I have good news to share -- the chimney sweep came today, and he was LOVELY! No damage to the chimney after the fire, and I am all set to use the fireplace again. I was so worried that the fire had done a lot of damage, but we are all set. :)

husband update: he's on his way to the hospital, having fallen in his bathroom. I couldn't pick him up and he was bleeding all over the place, so I called emergency.
the doctor thought he has a lung infection and he's much better off there.

No, they took him in the ambulance and it's almost dark and I don't drive at night.

as Aloy said you need some sleep to feel strong for him in the morning - when i was in hubby only caome for 30 mins a day - which is enough - hoepfully in hospital they will sort out his chest infection and sort him out for you

but I have to say, "Bravo" to the firemen and emergency people here, they are wonderful.

Unfortuneately, we learned that this past summer with DH's Aunts' condo. Although the association did pay for PART of the water damage because it started with a common drain (for laundry discharge for 3 units) being plugged and backing up into her unit.

Hursh, check with your condo association. I had a flood in my laundry room due to a burst pipe and they paid for the clean up.
we had a flooded bathroom and the maintenance men from the office took care of it bc it was caused by a plugged external vent
well we're getting a plumber to come and see what's what, so, if it turns out anything external, we will definitely not hesitate to get the association to pay for it.

he had an aortic dissection on dec 1, emergency surgery, was in the hosp until the 23rd, spent most of this month recuperating, recently got cleared to return to normal activity as he feels able.
Oh, wow. Glad he is doing well, and I am sorry this happened. I can only imagine what it took out of you.

it was very bad. about as bad as it can be and still be salvageable.
how old is he? He sounds like he must have been in pretty good health to start with.
he was at work, luckily, because he wouldn't have done anything. chest pain, numbness, dizziness, etc, and so a co-worker called 9-1-1, and he works near a very good hosp and they diagnosed it within a few hours, and got him right into surgery. he's 55.
he's young.

i think there might have been a very brief kidney thing in the ICU but if so it was negligible and quickly fixed. the lungs needed more help.
Family history? He's very young for that unless there is a family history of Marfans or sudden deaths...
no, no family history that we know of. we are now to mention to our own doctors that we may have friable arteries...

I worked ICU for 34 years, hurshy; the younger guys usually ignore the symptoms at first and don't survive. He was very lucky he was at work

he almost stayed home from work bc he felt poorly, so it was good he didn't! see what a good work ethic will do for you? :)

the main thing is that he will have to go for follow up visits every so often for i think a long time if not forever, so that will be good.
true. My best friend' Dad had a dissected abd. aorta and (luckily) he was visiting her here in the Cities when it happened. He lived on a farm (alone) and would have ignored it too. He lived for about 10 more years after; and kept thanking God for where he was when it happened.

he's 6'2" but not thin - i mean not hugely fat either but reasonably muscular and stuff.

they asked us about any history of marfan's but we had never heard of it. they didn't give me the impression that he definitely had it... i got the impression he was just on the weak-artery end of the spectrum, not quite syndrome class.
i don't think his fingers are like that, no.

we had some great ICU nurses, esp loved one who had been a military nurse for awhile before moving to civilian hospital. i certainly appreciate the existence of ICU nurses!

I'm lucky that they live about 15 minutes away so I see them several times each week. When my granddaughter was born they lived about 8 hours away.
we have to wait until my husband finishes his PhD program and then hope he can get a job in that area. it IS a good area for it, but, well, we'll see.
