twas 42 last week, and expecting more hotter weather over the next week...poor g/kids started the new school year todayin the heat
we will limit it to the chatters, of course. And when it is overly hot somewhere, we will shift some of the heat to a too cold place.
I'd say for now... dizgrannie, send about 5 degrees to rubyfoo and 3 to me.

I soooo agree! I can handle cold, even if I don't always like it. But when it is so hot... geezzzz! It is always humid heat here. I especially hate hot humid nights.
we only have aircon in the bedroom, so on the rare days when it's over 90F, usually during the Tour de France, I just stay in bed all day!
okies...Ruby now has an extra 5 degrees and Sprite has another 3...that brings it dwn to 31 here (at 7:40 PM) can handle that...LOL
we don't have aircon anywhere. When it is really too hot to bear, I wet tea towels and put them in the fridge, then wear one around my neck until it isn't cold anymore... and change into a new one.

I just saw Daisy and she is adorable!!!! BTW, I had company yesterday and they brought a 6-month old male Pyrrenees Shepherd (or something) and he was very cute and kept running around Ruby
who was very distrustful as she's not very playful and is only used to Max, who is not exactly a player (gross understatement!), more like an affectionate sack of coal with a sweet and soulful face

Okay, gotcha. The balls of foil thing (great balls of foil!) must create a reservoir for the drippings. Good idea, it keeps the chicken from getting greasy. The beer butt thing is the best. Moist as can be.
champ -- the recipe i found has a part 2, that once youve carved your bird, you throw the rest of the carcass, the juices + the veggies from the first round all back in there with a cup or 2 of water + let it run for another coupla hours. the rest of the meat falls off the carcass + youve got instand chicken stock! (may want to strain the stock to remove grease)
You DEFINITELY want to degrease the stock.
i find most of the fat is at the butt openning just under the skin..i pull it all off/ out before stuffing
Oh, I like that! The chicken is cooked pretty fast (4 hours or so), which would give the rest of the day for the soup part. Thanks!

last week i had to print some address labels and the labels are independent 3.5 x 5 inch sheets. i thought my printer would eat them all but it did ok, only ate a few.
This is my first year in post and coincides with them going online and computerised etc. It's much quicker than writing out stuff by hand, that's for sure.
I can take my time about the adjudication sheets and do them in stages. That way the printer will be none the wiser.
How does the number of applications compare with other years do you know?
It's down on last year. 1200 entries last year but it's probably no bad thing as some of the schools classes were getting very overcrowded.
Still a good turn out none the less
Instrumental and vocal are much the same as last year. The traditional music section takes entries on the day so they never know how many will turn up.
Apparently it's traditional that the traditional people don't enter ahead of time, I've no idea why but it seems to be standard.

yep. But unless the child learns to take pride in work in order to well in general... stidkid #1 thinks that C grades at the community college will be good enough to get him into a 4-year school later. Trying to get him over that...
But in the last couple of years, something clicked and he is in college and on the De4,5's List.
