thanks, stid! Yes, and tulips. And there are peonies along the fence. Inside the fence is native plantings - coneflowers, a small pond, as well as some strawberries and some Japanese maples (not native but pretty)
Also a lot of other things whose names I have forgotten - my SO is a real plant guy. And no lawn except between the sidewalk and the street (and even there we're planting small trees)
much of what you see in front of the fence is sidewalk - it hadn't been shoveled yet when I took the picture :-)
