Hey babblers! I'm all excited - just popped on to say I just heard my first spring peepers frogs). There is hope winter is going to go away.
awesome broll :) tomorrows gonna be 75 here
hi broll -- haven't heard any here yet :-(
(frogs), that is.
ah yes, we've heard them here broll, we have a pond about a stone's throw from the house
and we end up with quite a chorus in another month or so
there aren't any near me, up on this hill, but later on I can hear them from far away
I'm in northern Ohio. Winter hasn't really been that bad where I am, compared to areas relatively close, but I still want it to go away!
i got an email from the zoo here asking for volunteers
I'm just sick of the grey and wet. We're told there may be a glimpse of the sun tomorrow, then back to grey and wet for the rest of the week.
they want volunteers to pay a one time fee of 70. 00
Oh, jilli, my other son, dil and grandson are coming out in July
isnt that the stupidest thing ever
GI 5/16 clue for fireworks please?
And colder. But listening to TV and now a blizzard and radiation...
that does seem strange
Me too, jilli. We get a lot of that here.
they say it would cover a TB test and a t-shirt.
a tb test costs 20 bucks. not 70
gl5/14 change last letter of previous gl5, then pl
I mean a blizzard and radiation in Japan
gi not gl dear
oh gosh jilli, just to add to their misery
oh, sorry pugs

oops, wow, I'm reading it all wrong, sorry pugs
I'd like that gi5 too please

Well, 26 left and not seeing any more so it's bed for me -- goodnight all...*poof
g'nite jilli
have you got room to stash them all, flosey?

Good morning all.
good morning peach
May I please have a clue for st6-24? Thanks....I'm "begging" again
Hi there, westford.
it's usually a word with an a in front means surprised and amazed
rather to surprise and amaze add an s for the 7
Thanks, m' dear.
glad you got it
do you have a clue for the single n?
Yes, let me figure how to clue it...na + 4th vowel and plural.
thanks !!
yvw
I need that el7 to finish.....do you have it yet? Thanks
sorry I don't looking for it too
Thanks for checking.
Most like a certain tree ..
thanks tor who'd have thunk it
Thanks so much, torgone.
Happy to help ..
Now I will have to wait until the next flip.....guess I should have saved some of them for later...HaHa! Sweet dreams everyone.
I know. Everyone here is so careful not to hurt other people's feelings and so very helpful. But (you knew there was a "but" coming, didn't you?) I have to take exception to defining a Clue as a numbered letter of the alphabet. That's not a clue -- it's just another way of spelling out the word. I'm bad at giving clues myself, and seeing a really clever one is one of the perks of the game but when the word is literally given out in the chat I stop looking at it. So, poof.
goodnight peach sweet dreams to you too
don't go jwr you're not the only one who feels that way sometimes it's just a quick way to do it
there are some really clever clue givers and that is definitely a perk
I guess we just have different ways of enjoying babbling. Speed is not a goal of the game for me.
not for me either I really like the fact that there are 24 hours per game
I tend to hide the chat at the beginning it's too crazy with people calling out letters and numbers
Amd on the other side -- some of the best clue-givers go overboard with the subtleties sometimes. ... I agree with the 24-hour and being someone who works overnights several times a week, I love seeing the flags from around the world representing real-time people playing along with me.
but that said it's a great bunch of people and I learn so many new and interesting things from the chat log
isn't that the best thing? the flags?
I think we're on the same page, so to speak. Thanks for proving me right about the reasonable and just plain NICE people here. Gotta run. Out in the rain. To work. Bye west et al.
try to stay dry nice meeting you jwr
ta bye final poof!!
Bore da pawb - good morning all
Hello Glantarell.
And hello westford - good diplomacy there re: jwr. Some of us do try to speed up cos not enough hours in the day for all need to do. Some of us are just competitive! People on the chog are great.
Furthermore, every day I learn at least one new word or get amusement from the non-words too
I go now. Bye all.
Hello all
Hello, lynxxx.
morning Haz
hi there
hi Cathy
Hello, cathy.
you don't realize until you play something like this how lacking your vocabulary is!

is stib an acronym or a clue? hahah
I didn't even realize that, thought it may have been a greeting in Danish
before I asked, I tried it in the grid. Not!
How are you Lynxx??
Very well, though I shoudn't be watching this (real) hospital show - it is always a bit stomach churning - but always amazing as well
I love those shows and try to guesws the diagnosis
Poor 25-30 man crying as he tells his Mum he has to have his testicle removed
what about his wife?
Must have been single

Armstrong, my "survivor hero". He is much loved in Australia for being some prestige to the Tour Down Under
sorry, this Australian isn't aware of his story
I guess you're not a bicycle racing fan....sorry

Yes it is worth it..not too hard today.
just having coffee and cold piza... should be able to conquer the world now
Cold pizza...Yuk...lol
or at least do my turkey dinner :)
i have ALWAYS loved cold pizza
Ohh no..they go rock hard when cold..that would break my teeth..lol
no..not at all..unless u let it sit out all night...i put away in fridge,... is fine :)
So all you have to do now is do the final touches to the house and all done..i take it.
i just need to find my kitchen..and pick up a couple items from grocery store... then can domy turkey...
hahahaha.... a bazillion final touches
my living room is almost together
Sounds good, it is always nice when you can relax and get a nice hot meal made also..i nice new start for you, Carlee, i wish you well.
but the whole inside of house needs to be painted
That bare..LOL
thanks zooz... no...i think the peole who lived here were colour blind
Well you could just paint one room at a time.
well...all the ceilings need to be done..badly..i dont think they been painted since the 1950's when this house was built
is the ceiling artex or just plain?
artex unfortunately
just one of those furry rollers..and goggles
Yes that sounds the best way i think.
good morning friends. carlee -- if you never listen to another thing I listen to, listen to this -- run, do not walk to home depot and get one of those paint sprayer things. seriously. if you have a lot of rooms to do, it makes all the difference
how much are they..and which one?
Hello, Trif :-)
and hi trifs... ( i dont mind painting actually..i find it relaxing..its the prep work i hate... ) and ceilings..ugh..i hate ceilings
hello zooz! I am enjoyed the all blue themed chog you had going on there....carlee, I paid about $80 for mine, and it made all the difference
we had to paint a very high, cathedral ceiling and it would have been impossible without it
Oh yes..LOL..did not notice that :-)
I can't type today....forgive mistakes below, please
i really do enjoy painting..i LIKe cutting in..i kida lose myself in it...oh..this home is very much like the 1950'60 homes u find in florida
low profile...the ceilings are 8 foot..but is long and low slung...
I am going to remind you of that next february, carlee, when you are socked in to a hard canadian winter
Sorry to cut & leave ,but must be off to visit parents, take care, All :-)
though according to your flag you have moved to egypt!
bye zooz. BIG hug!
bye zooz...
no..just my silent support for what is going onin egypt...
( i have friends who are both in...and others from ..egypt )
all the houses in this little neighbourhood are like this... long and low... so darn cute... and i still live about 2 blocks from the lake..so we get cool breeze from the lake in summer
good afternoon all
hi there sprite :)
hi carlee, have you moved?
yesterday...yes i did
i have to go back in the old place and clean..and pitch out stuff
( i left all our toothbrushes there )
they setting on bathroom counter <facepalm>
but at le5 you are where you want to be :) Congratulations, and may you be very happy in this new home.
thanks sprite..i think i will...it feels good... will get all the stuff ( or most ) unpacked...then i think i will go through and smudge the place... ( never done that before but it feels right to do so )
smudging is incredibly effective. I have smudged a lot of houses, also for other people, and I know what it can do. Enjoy it :)
this place feels way more like home already then the old place ever did...
it just..feels... good
i am hoping my kids find it so as well
you have been radiating that feeling from the moment you had seen it. I think it is wonderful :)
the cats are even settling in
they have started eating..that a good sign :)
tost
very good sign!
i was sweating all night long with cats insulating me
nice one, tedybeth
hi beth
they were "mummy...where are we??/ what did u do...am scared"
'where are all our familiar smells? where are our sunning spots? where the heck did you take us?'
well...all their smells SHOULD be on the furniture
and...the sunning spot...glorious western sunshine comes in my front window...
hehehe they will settle in very soon, especially since they can feel how good YOU feel there.
am just waiting for the sun to come up in my room
well..and cooking a turkey today will help too ( giblets!)
am very happy for you
thanks... its nice to be happy and not all "soppy sad and stressed"
you were due a couple of lucky breaks and some happiness!
thanks sprite..am hoping a few more than a couple ( is that greedy?) but yes..life feels in many ways like things are falling into place...just pieces that didnt fit together before are all just fallinginto place
no that is not at all greedy, in my opinion. Go for it! I also think that is a great place to be: there where things fall into place. If it is true that the outside world reflects the inside world, you have done really great with yourself.
it feels like for the last 20 years ..all i have been doing is swimming upstream life was just upstream..and now...its just taking me for a ride...i dont feel i am doing anything differently...but being free of dXh and life is just...easier..
sad reflection on life... but i just feel... good :)..lots of good energy here...
so6 like a big chance to me. And a very good one.
so...is anything new in babbleland? i havent been here much
apart from the big server blackout 2 days back I don't know much either.
ah...i saw on fb that people couldnt get onto babble
no it took the better part of my day before things got back on, and then it was too late for me to play. Made me appreciate the grid even more next day :)

an7 - kind of compound involving vagueness and what's measured by a clock.
Is Babble back to normal? I am getting dreadful lags, and the 'Word couldn't be added' box. Is it just me?
ty got it. cute.
No problem at this end, Soodle.
it's you, soodle :-)
Glad you got it, mkg.
It was bumpy for me yesterday Soodle. Today, so far so good. Hey all.
and hi, haz, mkg, soodle, annie, and everybody!
hi molly
I am popping in and out this morning, will be on the plane back to IL this afternoon
still searching for the 8. is lickety up?
Hello, Molly, uusue.
Hiya Moll :-) Yup. Bumpy describes it for me today
Hello friends!
Moll - theres a big horse racing festival on in Cheltenham in hte
Moll - theres a big horse racing festival on in Cheltenham in hte
Yes, Lickety is up. bi8 - if you have bi5/18 - fragmented, bi8 is the superlative form.
Hic.... in Cheltenham in the UK. I backed a horse called
Tullamore Dew, in your honour, and he came 2nd!!
hi uu
Hi Molly, annie, haz, soodle
hi Mark
Hello, Mark.
HI Mark
This grid is rather ea**.
hi, mark!
Hi uu! I hear you are going to Illinois.
ty for bi 8. got it.
Hey mkg.
1/2 way through!
have to leave for a while, be back later
See you later, annie!
Bye, Annie.
take care annie
stats on the lone y and the lone n under it please?
I am, Mark, heading back this afternoon.
You can't go wrong with The Dew Soodle. : )
yu4/7 and yu6/16
na4/4 - babblet
This is the lone y in second to far right column?
OK, yeah- it is not a lone y.
I think haz means yu5/16
Can i have a clue for both yu's?
chinese money and plural, mark
Yes, yu5/16
yu4 and yu5 (plural of the 4) yu plus first letters of oft quoted picnic pest
thank you. NBT and I'm out of here.
Thanks!
And then plural.
See ya Kap!
Afternoon/morning all!
ta 4/4 cant belive i cant get it lol ,plz
Hey FM!
Good afternoon, FM!
ta4/4 - an anagram of the opposite of early
Greetings Haz and Hi Mark
hmmm... what are we to do with that R, besides breads?
Just finished lunch so thought I would pop in for 5 mins before getting back to the grind. V nice/fast grid today.
We will use that r to have mediaeval outer covering of some fruits.
Hurschy, it is like the homophone of ri4/5
thank you, what a fine idea, haz!
*hurshy
nice, mark! :)
I always think of ryot as a mediaeval skirmish as well.
lol
ty haz!
what else would one think?
It's a nice grid, indeed, FM. Does the sun shine with you?
thx, hurshy
Not today and it was very foggy this morning.
Yes, we had fog early on but it's cleared nicely now.
oh good :)
Can i have the o's?
Two are to do with leaving something out.
The other looks like the tail end of what floats in the sky and sends down rain.
loved the clue you gave a little while ago for the an7, it marries up with with the an8 from yesterday.
ty for o clues.
how about y clues?
Thx
I know - we're collecting up the first line of that ancient Martini advert!
scroll back a few mins mkg Haz clued some of them.
ou4 Middle Eastern lute
Two of the y words were clued not long ago, the others involve affirmatives and breadmaking.
LOL Haz that ad has been buzzing round my head since I found the word this morning.
bard, I'm intrigued to see that you've been a member for five years and yet you've never chatted. Have you been playing constantly (though silently) or are you an occasional player?
Good morning!
I must leave now; BBL
Just an occasional player
phantom: tryst
Bye Mark and Hi bard
Bye, Mark and hello car.
See you, Mark
and hello hurshy and car and anyone else that pops in!
hi all
Hello, jmc.
Well, bard, glad we haven't scared you completely from the chat.
does atalante play and I just miss her all the time these days?
hi bard nice to meet you
I only started up again a couple days ago actually. I had always avoided the chat for fear of spoilers, but I thought I would try the puzzle with company today
i've been missing ata too!!
*pop*
well we are not big into spoilers although hints can be given if asked
HAven't seen her for ages jmc but she was away on a diving holiday and also now has a job so ...
The last we heard she was heading off on holiday to Egypt but she may well be back now and involved in her work again. We've been edged out by marine life.
hi, car, jmc, fmitch, and all!
*sigh* to think of being overlooked because of algae!
Was she in Egypt during the excitement?
I know. It's a bit much, isn't it?
hi uu
well, hints = spoilers in my book ;) I always try to do as much as I can without hints or grinding
I think she was there after the main excitement, but we've not had any details so we're only guessing.
well our hints are only given when asked and the people here this time of day are not big on hints
So far we've not been asked to bail her out of an Egyptian prison, so hopefully all is well.
Hi there uu
well that is something haz
Good to know :)
you could always close your eyes if someone asks for a hint bard
As far as hints go, some people love them, some people hate them. What I've learned here is that you can't please all the people all the time.
but the conversation can get pretty lively
and if anyone uses a word from the grid in the chat they go to the pb (penalty box)
you gotta watch emails asking to bail people out, anyway... i got one monday purporting to be from a girl i know slightly, coming from her email address, saying she was in trouble and her passport and money had all been stolen and she needed money. of course the email address they told you to reply to was a different one from where it originated...but in certain ways it was pretty realistic sounding.
oh never send $$ because of an email--that is the new nigerian letter hursh
That's a familiar sounding scam, hurshy. We'd have to have codewords arranged ahead of time with Ata to make sure it was her.
if someone was in that situation i would tell them to go to the embassy
when that happens it means the person's email has been hacked. If you know them you should let them know by phone, NOT by email.
gee, I've heard of that but haven't gotten one yet (unless it was among the thousands of emails I delete without reading). Some of them are superficially plausible and some are just silly
good advice pastor
i get lots of emails offering to donate to my ministry
If you ever get an e-mail from me using textspeak or with lots of !!!, you'll know it's fake.
personal experience! ;->
one of turned out to be real
lol haz
poor pastor!
LOL Haz!
no big deal - but it was amusing to see how many people called to check on me - folks I hadn't heard from for ages!
well there you go--no ill wind that doesn't blow some good
Well, that kind of restores your faith in humanity, Pastor, doesn't it?
most of them are pretty obviously fake. this one wasn't quite so obvious, except for certain "tells" like the alt email and stuff.
I offered to let them send me money anyway, but they didn't!
unfortunately i don't have this girl's phone number so i have no way to let her know she's been hacked.
i always check the sender email for that hursh
Lunch break over, ti4 for me to get back to work. TTFN.
well i usually can spot a fake donation when it talks about my ministry saving souls for christ or for widows and orphans
bye FM nice to see you
Toodle-oo, FM. Discipline is your new middle name along with Ermintrude.
you can email her at her real email address i would think
so... what do we have here, long G words? i have 10 to go, four of which are long words, blah. and four of which are G. there must be SOME overlap... mustn't there?
Ermintrude! Ohhhhh I want to be Ermintrude!
no jmc, it CAME from her real email address. it just told you to reply to a different one.
The longest g is 6.
the longest G is 6... oho, found the 8
what can i use for the J though? I used to be jasmine esmeralda until both names got disneyfied
and how many of these G6's are there?
oh well then she will have to have someone else tell then
Jillian
There are two g6
suggestions for my J name?
I only have 1 G 6
hurshy, the last person I know that it happened to couldn't access her email anymore, so she may or may not get anything sent to her.
Jacqueline
Jillian Ermintude
sorry Jillian Ermintrude
Jacqueline Ermintrude
one of the G6 is a plural... how about the other?
do you want more J ideas? i can spout them off as long as you like!
i think a less pretty J name. . . hmmmm
Jennifer
Jacqueline
something bumpy like Ermintrude
Juanda
How about Jemima?
Jessamyn
Good morning all
Juanita
lol Haz, and hello
Juanda Ermintrude! it is perfect!
Hi Mr. Bob!
Hi Mom!
jaeli
good morning Mr Bob
pronounce Ju-wan-da
Hello, Mr Bob and Mom.
or Jayli
and hello to all who have arrived while I was talking with my sweetie
lololololololol
you could even spell it with the W if you like
Good morning Car., how was the trainer yesterday?
*rolling on floor and shouting* JUanda Ermintrude!
Hi Haz, nice to see you
i thought Jemima was a good suggestion
You don't meet many Jemimas.
nope, just au4 Jemima.
jemima was good too but i think JUwanda wins the prize!
Jemima Ermintrude, get up off that floor this instant!
So wonderful! I stretched out these old muscles and now I feel great!
so glad to hear that Car.
okay must go to work.
sigh
bye bye jmc
May I please have the stats for the N?
so before we got crazy with J names i was wondering about G6s... and mentioning that the one i had was a plural...
*leaves chog muttering JUwanda Ermintrude*
na4/4
You'd rather stay here with us, wouldn't you?
The one I have is like a martini but with an onion in it
thanks Hurshy
gi 6/30
Then think in terms of a guitar manufacturer's name, or last name of disgraced actor, Mel.
Hurshy...what is the one you have?
yes :-( but my staff is all other places so must at le*** go answer the phones *poof*
that's a generic noun??? ok.
is there an E7?
Ty hurshy! Got it!
oh yes i think so
Yes, el7
got that one, yay
is there a B7, or just the 8?
Absence of b7.
then i must need another S7. i have st7, that ast***** me!
Your deductions are correct.
GOT IT!!!!
5 to go! these G's are really a nightmare.
Excellent.
at least two of the G's i need now must be fives, then. hmmm.
May I have the stats for the Y in the 4th column please?
yu4 and 5
gi5/16 - descriptive of disgraced actor if he were enlisted in the army
thanks! and i found a gl pair i was missing, so that's them!
TY!
You're done? Well done!
And time for me to go. Enjoy the grid and see you tomorrow, hopefully.
bye bye Haz
gotta scoot, son is coming for lunch at 11
((Hugs)) to all of you
good morning everyone:) looking back on the log and it seems our own little ruru nailed this grid first in a mere 31 minutes lol
woo hoo for ruru
morning all
howdy jmb
good morning both of you
howdy bard
morning bard
getting closer. 25 to go
I'm missing a whole bunch of s words. Sort of disconcerting. I think I must be missing something obvious
just started and only have about a ten minute break.
oh no, haz left thinking i had finished, when in fact i had only finished the G's. i still have two words to go. can someone tell me what the point total is for today?
544
lol, crossy, perhaps that is how many points you have right now.
oops thats not right
nm me,need a tea
bard - there are quite a number of ST words.
1372
that sounds better
thanks brabble!
I have 10 st words now including two 7s
stim
oops
it sounds high! two words left, worth a combined 63 points?!?! wow.
or should i say "bl6!" since that was one of them, worth 33.
there is a bi 8 worth 50
oh wait, i also subtracted wrong, it was only 43, so now i just need an S5/10!
NOW i'm done.
better have a tea with me hurshy
yaa for hurshy!
i am having tea, as a matter of fact, so that works out nicely. :)
congratulations :)
I even put my glasses on
you put your glasses on?
mmm, looks like darjeeling again today as i am out of black tea:/
to confirm the point total
back again for a bit - congrats, hurshy! and hi, BR, crossy, and all
mine was Tazo "Awake" tea
howdy sue
Hello, Sue
oh, well, thank you for your stupendous efforts on my behalf, then, brabble! :)
Think I will grab some tea for myself
Y thank you, ma'am
sorry if i threw you with my subtraction error.
The news from Japan is not good.
indeed, it is not.
i wonder if our societies will ever decide that certain places are just too dangerous to try to inhabit... parts of california... new orleans... japan...
Malthus may have been right?
Hello again everyone - keep getting called away at work...dont they know babble is a priority...lol
societies do all the time, but then individuals get sick of society and wander off into the dangerous places and start new societies ;)
let me see, i thought he was the guy that said technological improvements in agriculture would (or was it wouldn't?) always keep up with population growth. what else did he say? i mean, what are you referring to?
Malthus was a political economist who was concerned about, what he saw as, the decline of living conditions in nineteenth century England. He blamed this decline on three elements: The overproduction of young; the inability of resources to keep up with the rising human population; and the irresponsibility of the lower classes. To combat this, Malthus suggested the family size of the lower class ought to be regulated such that poor families do not produce more children than they can support. Does this sound familiar? China has implemented a policy of one child per family (though this applies to all families, not just those of the lower class).
ah, yes, so he had FAILED to think about technological improvements in agriculture and stuff.
Or Hawking's suggestion of going to another planet.
i just think... well... let's say we drastically reduce our military spending and use the money to pay people for their land/homes in super dangerous areas and relocate elsewhere and build airports and things for new populations centers. then later we save on FEMA money and so forth. i wonder if that would hold up in an economic analysis as a worthwhile idea.
not that this would ever HAPPEN. major things don't tend to happen, politically.
One of these days someone will start preaching what is already ever so obvious: the dangers of overpopulation. However, just thinking about that makes my head spin. I can almost hear the reaction...
So, according to famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, it's time to free ourselves from Mother Earth. "I believe that the long-term future of the human race must be in space," Hawking tells Big Think. "It will be difficult enough to avoid disaster on planet Earth in the next hundred years, let alone the next thousand, or million. The human race shouldn't have all its eggs in one basket, or on one planet. Let's hope we can avoid dropping the basket until we have spread the load
but overpopulation isn't THAT hard to solve. you don't actually have to REGULATE it, because when given the choice, most women don't want to have large numbers of children. it's really just a matter of getting education and birth control to everyone, and it will basically take care of itself through free choices.
clue for the an8 plz?
only 1 8; bi 8 50
off the clock
seems we can all play babble an7/40 we want
hawking, of course, is a humanist, so he finds that more of an imperative than i would as a Christian. as a Christian, i think we have stewardship responsibilities and justice responsibilities to the planet, life on the planet, our fellow human beings - but i don't think we have a moral imperative to preserve "the species" just for its own sake, in the face of, say, a large asteroid blowing us to bits.
education and birth control help, certainly, but more importantly, equality for women, and in most cases, that involves centuries of societal programming and religious ideology.
ty br and river
having certain churches like the catholic church not promoting kids after kid would help too
"religious ideology" -- !! Now, there's the rub!
Or having TV shows like KATE & 8 and the dumb DUggers
crossy watches avidly;)
equality for women CAN take a long time, but in some cases, it can be a reasonably rapid transition. i mean, i remember reading about one family where the wife got a microloan and started a business and suddenly the whole family dynamic changed. her drunk of a husband quickly realized that she in fact was the power in the family and he had to treat her differently and stuff.
common now ruru, the duggers are just trying to make money to feed their props..err i mean litter...i mean children
but MOST catholics (at least, american catholics), don't actually run their reproductive lives based on what the church says, i believe.
it's out of the country that the real problem exists with the catholic church hurshy
i love god, just some of his fan clubs make me wonder...
exactly crossy
but again, in third world areas, the lack of birth control and the catholic teaching may be going hand in hand, and you might find that if you add the birth control, the catholic teaching suddenly is revealed not to have been as big a factor as one might have thought.
finito.
look over in U.K they have been fighting for decades of their spin on god
well done LBD
yay lbd
1848 Declaration of Sentiments: The history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations on the part of man toward woman, having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over her. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world...
why catholic per se?
well of the christian denominations, only catholicism and to some extent evangelicalism are dogmatic about not using birth control.
they are entrenched in not promoting birth control
ahh
brabble, your ability to produce interesting quotes never ceases to impress me.
fireworks
whooo hooooo RIVER!!
Congrats, Riverdance
interesting dialogue going on here.
somewhat of an easy puzzle today - only had to list for the last 10
so,if you are a member of that sect, you have to pump out babies non stop,or watch the sex,or burn in hell if you use birth control??? sorry but i have never followed this side of religeon
very interesting but I must get back to work - enjoy your day everyone - by happy
indeed, river. it was just those G's that were nasty, wouldn't you say?
so i know little about it
There are a lot of tough choices the world has to make. I wish I had more confidence in our leaders.
just one in particular for me - the gi5 was a challenge - monkeys worked hard
I agree whole heartedly BR with that... bye folks
Be well, Riverdance
crossy - the official line of the Roman Catholic church is that the rhythm method is the only acceptable form of birth control, yes. but again, individual Catholics often don't feel uncomfortable about not toeing the pope's line. as to burning in hell... well, there is such a thing as forgiveness. too.
want something to make you uneasy, think of all those reactors in japan, then bring up the world map..i was surprised how close japan is to everything else....
so what is their word if you use condoms or the new twice a year shot?
that you are not acting in accordance with the will of God.
Robert Kennedy had 11 children -- why? WHY?
hurshy - that's true in societies where there is a lot of mixed religious thinking, but I wonder if the same could be said of countries that are overwhelmingly Catholic, like Mexico and Brazil
so you protect yourself and ask forgiveness..kind of like wanting a bike but having no money,so you steal it and ask forgiveness lol
indeed, bard, i'm sure there are differences there.
well each to their own i say but no 22 babbies for crossy
definitely in South America there is the problem
I don't see the pont of doing something sinful, knowing you're going to do it again, and asking for forgiveness in confession
yes.. bichon.. those are called "bankers"
well crossy, i would not recommend that approach myself... St. Paul certainly condemned it in his letter to the Romans... but then, I'm not Roman Catholic myself, so I don't have a conflict there. then again i also think that most american Catholics just choose to disagree that using birth control is sinful, rather than thinking it is and wanting forgiveness.
2 babies was enough for me, but some people really wants lots of kids, can afford them, and do well by them
i guess the mother church never heard of pre-ejaculate when using they ryhtym method that how duggers are born
technically, it wouldn't count anyway since there is no genuine repentance in asking forgiveness for something you plan to do again, but that doesn't stop people from trying ;)
yes, more souls for the Catholic church. Isn't that the real idea
robert kennedy, of course, may have simply felt that his good looks ought to be passed on as much as possible.
RFK was good looking?
in some people's opinion, the kennedy clan is good looking. i don't see it but he may have felt he was!
we must adapt and not take all old texts verbatum..or we would still be killing our wives off for cheating ;)
i think elen degeneris(sp) does a good speech on this
more souls is an interesting way to think about it, since a number of Christian denominations, including Catholicism is I'm not greatly mistaken believes that only a certain number of people getting to heaven, regardless of conduct
more collections for the plate
i don't think Catholicism thinks there are numerical limitations on heaven. i think only Jehovah's Witnesses are really into that.
Fertility: http://tinyurl.com/24e87cn
my brother was a baptist for ages till the pastor started degrading those of jewish decent..was insane
whatever happened to a few good friends 'gathered in his name" reading the book and having nice constructive discussions?
some of us still do that, crossy :)
as do i
well there you go then! we can't control what other people do... even other people of the same or similar faith professions... all we can do is say when we respectfully disagree.
this is true
this is why grace is so beautiful...
i cannot judge anyone..how can i judge others when i have not yet judged myself?
this is why I like the UU's - respect for the dignity of all, and a free and responsible search for truth and meaning
but hello..catholics...you do not need 22 babbies!
lol
the trouble i have with UU's is that there is too much freedom. i think just as children like to have some boundaries, all of us need some guidelines that we don't just establish for ourselves. otherwise, it's too easy to make "whatever i feel like doing" equal "what i think is right".
what is their view on getting fixed? just curious
that's a big sin crossy
really? what if the next pregnancy is life threatening for the mother?
that doesn't matter either to the C church
that's GOd's will
mother's can be replaced.
wild..then i am going to hell twice, first i got fixed cause if we had a second it would of killed my wife, then the chemo fixed me as well lol
oops, sorry about the errant appostrophy
and misspelling! urgh, going back into lurk mode
being sterilized by chemo would not be a sin in any church as far as i am aware... and i THINK the catholic church and most churches DO make exceptions regarding intentional abortion or sterilization for the life of the mother. just not abortions for rape and incest and stuff like that.
do not wirry lbd,my typing and correct spelling are light years apart.i know babblers can interpet my mighty prose lol
good lord..
but cannot judge
hurshy, we certainly have boundaries and guidelines as UUs; we just don't get them from a single source, and try to think about them carefully.
what is UU?
well really if you start with certain premises, it makes sense. save the life of the mother is ok because it's a trade off of lives. but in the case of rape, where the mother will not die, the argument is, let's not let the baby be killed for another person's sin.
Unitarian Universalist
oh and blood transfusions..i am damned again..i would not be here if i did not get blood products during my chemo
thats a new on for me hurshy
i think blood transfusions are another one that only Jehovah's Witnesses object to.
my d.i.l. is a member of UU
ahh i see
i would be one dead jehova feeding the worms then
uusue2 - based on your babble name, i'm guessing you are more informed about UU than i am! :)
yes, I've been a member for years, ever since I moved to Oklahoma and decided I needed to find people who thought the same way I did...
This may not work
1970-1985[29] 1990-2000[30] 2000-2005[11] 3.65% - Bahá'à Faith 2.65% - Zoroastrianism 1.84% - Islam
viva la differance!
Jehovah's Witnesses are extreme enough in many respects that a lot of other Christians don't even consider them a "denomination" of Christianity but more of a pretty separate "sect".
i see hurshy interesting
Mormons are also weird about sex (IMHO) - allowed ONLY for reproductive purposes, so forbidden if the woman is not fertile at that moment.
and they weat magic undies
*WEAR*
that too, sciencegeek...
morning all
lol@ magic undies
I am lurking
and hi :-)
and eavesdropping
honey? are you ovulating? lets hop into the buggy and drive 9 hours to the dr,s office and find out!
mormons are another group that might often be considered a separate sect rather than a denomination. i mean, obviously with the splinter polygamist groups, but, even with the official church.
separate
morning all, looks like I jumped on in the middle of an interesting discussion here
they sell special ovulation tests, OTC
OK can I have a clue for the lone O at the bottom? I have not listed
for 2 years on official govt forms i put druidism on the space for religeon lol
lol crossy
ou4/6
hi, msideb01! I see you graduated from Tufts - my brother went there, in electrical engineering. Great school!
also, if you chart your temperature for the month, there will be a drop at ovulation. I know this from fertility treatments
ty
neat, uu! I was very happy with my experience there
lol,the randy pa comes in the door every night with thermometer in hand.....
there is a famous guitar in here today
I still don't have anything from the top o. Any hints?
he was too, mside.
to leave something out
it's actually a word, sciencegeek, so you can't say it here (the guitar, that is)
sheesh, am I dense. TY science
it is a drink as well as a guitar maker
i know but the guitar is a nice clue.
I need two more L's
martini with onion vs olive i believe
I know, crossy, I figured that was how it got into the dictionary (although how much do you want to bet it wouldn't allow Manhattan?)
you are probablu correct in that sue
damn typos
do you have le4/6, science?
what does the guitar start with?
might, if you didn't capitalize the first letter.
g
and do you have li5/16 and 6/27?
gi6, bichon, like Henry or Mel or the cocktail
Rowan and Martin's Henry gi 6
yes hursh
ty lbd
do you have an le4/4 that comes with a plural 5/10 ?
yes
i will list later.
mmm now crossy wants a martini,we have this sushi and martini par in town and they make them in these jumbo glasses;)
yw. bichon
you have all of those 5 and you're still missing two? those are all the oddest ones. have you got li7?
bar
no li 7
most li5
yay ty
perhaps... the very last L ... an li4/4 ...? anagram of what you said you would do later
got that one
I will look later. Off for now!
and back again
wb bard
thanks crosshair
sorry, got caught up in grading and map-checking
glad to see you back, bard :-)
thanks Sue
Sorry if I'm a little slow :)
18 words to go
no problem :-)
last word to go and its that big bi can someone plz give me a tiny clue? Thx
van,
van think tiniest
thx I'll work with that
using the one before
remember the it** bi*** spider? the bi8 is related to that.
the smallest clue
start with the b and go down and right to start
sorry left!!
thx a lot and all that time I was looking up instead of down lol boomboom fireworks galore
yay, vanilla!!
yaa for vanillia
wtg
tyty
mm,this darjeeling is not bad,a tad weak but not bad at all
last 3 days our geese have started coming back!! yaa! spring is coming!
geese, poop makers
we love them and have the room for them,so it matters not;)
i have never been poopen on or stepped in goose poop
seagulls are more of a poop pain here as we are on georgian bay
There is a playground in my town, next to a pnd, and you cannot take young children there because of all the poop
el7= most like a certain tree....
nasty indeed bichon.we try not to place the playgrounds and soccer fields right on the water and it works ok,and the one playground we do have by the water we have a volunteer teem clean it daily 100 people, takes 5 minutes
it's nice to have civic minded people. A dog patroling the place would work
we are playing around with those subaudible electronic "screechers" also
but we like all the other regular birds so may not work
indeed bichon,it is quite interesting to watch.100 people,20 pieces of playground equipment.that 5 people per unit.50 with rakes to rake out the sand afterwards and 50 to toss the garbage etc that the raking gathers up..it almost looks like magic
it sounds heavenly crossy. It's nice that people will take time out for civic projects. Not that much of that here
When I was at school there was a lake in the grounds right next to the hockey pitches :( Horrid if you happened to slip up or fall - bird poop all over you.
we start that may 24 long weekend, and the first time we drag out 3 or 4 bbq,s and do hotdogs and make about 50 gallons of kool-aid lol
... and greetings ((crossy)) and bichon!
((fm))
sounds like utopia crossy
hi Fmithch
we have our rough spots lol
every town does
like any town in the 900-15,000 population range
Please pass Mrs Crossy bleated birthday greetings!
i will fm
she says ty
9000*
:)
we have 47 htousand. When we first moved here 38 1/2 years ago it was 4 thousand
in 89 we are about 6000 now we are around 12-15 thousand
*42 thousand
then add winter and summer tourists in season
so 5/6?
we don't get tourists, just college students
According to the web the population of the village where I live is 5,500.
we are 15 min from the worlds longest fresh water beach for the summer people and we are 5 minutes from blue mtn for the winter people
hi all
howdy boo
nice quiet place eh fm?
It is very rural and I love it, the only time it sort of gets invaded is when the motorbike season starts as there are some fast roads just o'/s the village on the way to the coast. Hi Boo
we have a small town on the hill near here called redwing amazing place on a river and falls ,has a pop of 300 or so
having said that it is great to see some of the old bikes and Harleys as they parade through on their was south.
We don't have anyting exciting in Middletown, but we live on the edge of town, and it's quiet [ish]
so 5/6?
noise, music, ears?
yup, got it, ty
yw :-)
Darn zooz beat me to it, was going to use a Simon & garfunkle ref there. Hey zooz!
lol..hello, FM :-)
Spring springing your way zooz?
Yes already here, Dafs are in full bloom buds on trees are bursting open & very mild today..i take it you are the same?
Well i don`t mean you are a bud and bursting open..lol
Yes, can't wait for the bluebells to come out, then I know it really is spring (that and the clocks going forward)!
LOL
we've already had daylight savings time here in the states
Love the blue bells..we have woods near by and they get full of bluebells...so beautiful to see.
the end of march i think is our time saving time.
yup last Sunday of the month or thereabouts.
we used to have ours closer to the first day of spring, but some bozo thought earlier was better
clue for an 7 please
I think it has something to do with farmers and harvesting..not too sure to be honest.
Bluebells in a wood are an indicator of ancient woodlands
I'll meet you an***** you choose
an + letter + clock what **** is it..gosh it is late.
hi all.. just checking in on my newest addiction :-)
or - we can babble an7 so long as the server is behaving itself!
Yes thats right, FM, we have a few woods like that here..we also only have red squirrels no grey/gray ones.
Oh how wonderful zooz.

Hello, Words :-)

we were in Isle of Wight for first time last May - amazing place! Beautiful sights around every corner!
Summer is magical here, dank in the winter though..yet also peaceful which i like..lol
Phantom word is bigit
my Phantom is : giblets
I tried that a few times too this morning zooz just to be sure.
lol
hey all!
hi lbuxx
my phantom was eligible or some such derivation!
but you have got to be kidding me with that e7!
Enable has a warped sense of humour w.finder.
no joke - amazed i found it at all
wonder if enable is going to get an update along with the new build?
what is the new build crossy
and you believe in Santa Claus too then I take it crossy ;)
lol fm
I'm done. Anyone need a clue?
babble 2.0:) new build the good dr_g is working on
oh, any hints as to what new features it will have?
Congrats bichon!
there are a few in facebook, but i do not do fb and others who do will have to link you to it
wasn't the most challenging grid, but the e7 is funny
Aparently he hasn't updated FB for months now re the new design.
mm,gonna have to poke dr_g with a a stick...lol
How do I find that out on the Babble FB page?
I remember when he gave us all access to try out the beta version of the site as it is now - a loooong time ago.
Can't help you bichon I don't do FB.
he has some interesting ideas going thats for sure
seems lickety will be able to retire
and various colour schemes
and the ranking lists will change a tad
Oh must go and check email etc before the end of the working day. Back in a bit.
Aloha, planetary voyagers!

Hey all, babbling for a few minutes. my mac is still broken... *sad face* tom thinks he can get it working again (the part that stidkid broke is a user-serviceable hard drive) but for the moment I am tied to my netbook which is very small for reading.
too bad stiddie
can you get the type nice and big on the notebook?
how are you jmc? haven't been on much at the same time as you.
you have you have been absorbed in other things and whisking in and out in a nounce
i am fine.
true that. I may have extra time off, though... still no word on a placement for student teaching. LOL I don't mind too much -- an extra week would be nice.

Hello!
thanks for the O, Vi!
and hello to you!
liked the post about feminist children's lit. :-D
ty vic
=D
help with the i for nbt?
il4
I is a bone thingy
actually, the def is this: the anterior portion of the hindgut of an insect or other arthropod
oh! thanks again Vi -- something new. :-)
I just looked it up, because I think of it as scientific name of a plant. Guess I was wrong.
It's plural for a human bone (all of us have two of these) - womens are wider...
okay, going to beg for a couple tiles so I have NBT (assuming jmc is already there...)
need the N please, and the Y above it.
Well, dictionary says the bone has an i instead of an e. But I ain't no anatomist!
na4/4 - Babblet
the y could be a spanish man's name...
hi all
yu4/7 and pl, currency
thanks amelu *thinking* and Vi *thinking more*
Yes - also the digestive part... my Anatomy teacher couldn't spell for crap and accepted either spelling for both parts -
hey sammysmom
gah. *eating na babblet fish*
thats NBT and past halfway for me!
Yay for stidmama!
I think I will bid you-all adieu and head out. Mother and I have a "playdate" with a friend this afternoon. :-D Lucky will be sad that I am gone, but I was home ALL day yesterday for a change. I like having a few days off.
**Hugs and choclits and happy thoughts for all** *poof*
Have fun! Good seeing you, stidmama!
nbt
bye stiddie
sorry got distracted by work :-(
ask one of the DRs or nurses that play about the bone thing
must actually focus on work again *poof*
Bye, jmc. Congrats on NBT. =)
hello everybody
85 earlier and I'll try for a few words
I am talking to myself again.....
Hey Ruby, I was just buzzing through myself. How are you today?
hello Molly. It is really Spring and that makes me happy! Daffodils
and fine misty rain
I love it. I can always tell by the smell in the air. And I saw some robins today. : )
we don't have robins here, just some little birds with red throats and grey. It is very interesting watching birds hereas I've identified more than 20 that aren't in the US, all in front of my kitchen window where the feeder is
they eat tons of sunflower seeds, but it's worth it to have them here all winter
more than halfway - NBT and NBS
hi teach!
hi ruby
hi Babblers
trying to bake cookies while babbling - don't want to burn the cookies
hi jbv
I hope your computer is in the kitchen!
Ruby, do you read and write French? just wondering what it would be like to be far away from my native language.......
good night; I give up with 91
in the dining room just next to the kitchen
yes, I had enough in school to read (but not for pleasure) and write like a high school girl. But I am fluent now (if highly accented) and understand almost everything, even TV
good night ruby
and I am terrible at scrabble in French!
ok, thanks ruby and bon soir!
bon soir to you two
I have wondered this for a long time...what do the abbreviations NBT and NBS mean? I finally figured out PB...but I give up on the other two :)
NBT - no blank tiles (letter tiles) and NBT is no blank word stats
Ahh...thank you so much. I had run them through my mind every which way :)
i set a goal of NBT and go through each of the letter tiles and try to get at least one word for each
it does actually help you search for words that i might otherwise totally miss
I guess I should get around to sending my money and become at pro...that seems like it would help lots.
it's cheap and well worth supporting this game - i'm addicted. my son got it for me as a present - love it
Now that I am back in an office, I admit this is my guilty pleasure once again.
i have a question for people... so, i've had this supervisor (luckily she's not really my supervisor anymore) who is very incompetent. one of her main areas of incompetence is the computer. i feel like i could do everything she does, but she certainly can't do everything that i do. yet she gets paid more! anyway, i'm just wondering, do you think technology has created a lot of situations like that, which sort of violate the older assumption that the people higher up can do more things, and they just don't have time for all the tasks, so they delegate? or is someone as incompetent as this woman the exception rather than the rule?
hursh... unquestionably.
it's the norm...
unfortunately hurshy is is not
so how do we, like, have a revolt and get rid of the incompetents?
hurshy - that may be it in her case. But this type of thing as 'always' been in office/work places .. before technology .... Some of us who were in the workplace 25 yrs. ago faced the same situation. There was even a book called the "Peter Principle' which proves that people eventually get promoted one step past their peak abilities ...
documentation, documentation, documentation...
you cant cos that opens the way to madness where all the youngster steal our jobs
well this woman is 65 anyway so she really OUGHT to retire.
i think the peter principle is sort of different. i think of that as the captain kirk principle, myself. he was best at being a captain, they made him an admiral and he hated it.
case by case please!
hmm - yes but now that age of retirement has been abolished difficult to do
amelu: so right: documentation on everything!!
in my case documentation doesn't help. everyone else knows she's incompetent too, but they feel bad for her, so they let her stay.
she's not even ALLOWED to do certain things because she can't be trusted with them.
not a lot you can do - i helped my older colleague and then he just retired eventually anyway
sounds like some situations my daughter has had in her office. really frustrating!
Question, how do you know she gets paid more?
because i manage the budget! she gets paid almost twice what i do.
In that case, since you have a legitimate reason to know her salary, I would go straight to my boss with something like this.
but it really does boggle my mind that with people higher up knowing how she lies and manipulates, doesn't follow rules, says inappropriate things, can't be trusted with anything money related, can't do practical stuff... they still let her stay!
molly - it wouldn't help, because we have very structured positions and salaries here. i can't negotiate a raise or anything.
still difficult
and the person who makes the decision to let her stay is least impacted by her staying, so it's easy for him to do that.
limiest
oops sorry folks
the person above her is going to be leaving and a new person in that role as of july 1. he was hoping to get rid of her. but the person above HIM decided otherwise.
anyway, sorry for all the venting.
Help! down to 1...mi4/7 that isn't related to pens
here i come to save the day... that means that **gh** mouse is on the way!
fireworks!
my last few were spelling variations on words i already had! ack!

Japan nuclear plant disaster: warning of an 'apocalypse’ as fallout hits danger levels
http://tinyurl.com/4a4glba
fireworks for me - nice grid tonight
oh dear
it really is an apocalypse when british news writers can't spell "disintegrate"...
this world is so screwed :(
does staying indoors actually protect you from radiation? it doesn't seem like it would, but they are telling everyone to stay inside. i would have thought you would have to just drive far far away.
if it were me i'd get the hell out of dodge
140,000 closest to the reactors have been evacuated
clue for the last bl6?
british expression of surprise
thanks! :)
you know, with iran trying to have nuclear tech, and saying it's for energy, not bombs - if i were an iranian, after this, i'd be like, let's not, even if it IS just for energy! they're near a fault line too.
your average iranian wouldn't care honeslty.. not with their batsh*t insane President
Staying indoors will help with the shorter-lived isotopes, which are the "hottest" ones.
hello all
hursh, did not get the an7 clue
gi 5/16 please?
gi5 is a hebrew letter... one of the ones on the dreidel, i believe

just reading more of the japan coverage... ugh... to quote the wicked witch of the west, "what a world, what a world!"
easy grid....30 left. been here 1/2 a hour
Read a couple reports today stating the US is not as prepared as Japan to respond to a nuclear disaster. Maybe "experts" have not had a chance to talk to McCain
why, is mccain involved with nuclear stuff?
john mccain is a senile old fool what would he have to say to help?
During the campaign, nucs were the answer to the energy crisis
ohh yeah thats right
well... they probably still are part of the answer.
st6 pleas?
you don't say! really? you ast6 me!
thanks! :)
The operator of Japan's tsunami-crippled nuclear plant says it has almost completed a new power line that could restore electricity to the complex and solve the crisis that has threatened a meltdown. Tokyo Electric Power Co. spokesman Naoki Tsunoda said the power line to Fukushima Dai-ichi is almost complete. The new line would revive electric-powered pumps, allowing the company to maintain a steady water supply to troubled reactors and spent fuel storage ponds, keeping them cool.

sorry scientists!
"A sea slug so transparent that it’s digestive system shows through its skin. An upside jellyfish attached to rocks with a stalk. Not maybe what you would expect to see on a rockpooling expedition in Kent. And not what volunteers and staff from Kent Wildlife Trust expected to find on their monthly shore surveys. "
am writing the press release at the moment!

Good eye Kap. First and last name in playable form. I don't think I've ever seen that before.
hi molly
Hi Molly
Heya JMC, how's your Wednesday.
I thought that's the gi we were talking about before.
it is kap but molly wasn't here
pretty good i got some stuff off my desk
when charlie sheen shows up in the grid, I'll know something's fishy
*looks at floor*
I see the gi word and I think guitar. That's what happens when you hang out with musicians all your life.
sheen has shown up before
well that works too molly
I thought guitar too.
My parents would have thought cocktail.
does everyone think that Charlie Sheen should have been fired?
All I have seen in this grid over and over again is donuts.
no i don't but it was not my call
i see the donuts too molly
I think Charlie Sheen needs a 5150, which is the technical term for involuntary committment.
i agree with molly.. he is so way out there.he needs help.. but u know addicts are the last one to admit they are addicts
i doubt he is likely to cause harm to himself or others--he mainly spouts off
I think firing was the only thing they could do. How can someone behave so badly
hi ivesy
hi jm, hi all..
$2 million an episode!!
well maybe i am not reading the things you are but all i see is him saying things that people don't like -- has he actually DONE something beside show up late to work?
that show will not survive without him I guess they are content with reruns
not that i read. i think that he needs help, but i think the work issue was personal betwen him and the producer
when he talks , he looks crazy!!
well let me ask you which one of you has never said in the heat of an argument I am going to kill you or something equivalent?
Hah - just got the li5.16 expression - Gawd Bl****
lol.. i have!! dont think im crazy though,
Not me. But I think there is WAY more to Sheen's problems than that.
ty lynxxx i should have seen that one
i think so too molly but i also think that the custody battle and the "press" have blown this up way more than would have happened if he were not famous and didn't have a perfect brother and a nearly perfect dad
yes, but that is the price of fame.
i think he is taking way more hits than he deserves and a lot of what is going on is defensiveness
getting locked up in a mental institution?
as a mother of a recovering addict, it breaks your heart when they dont admit they need help. i dont think he is clean
okay no more preaching *zips lips*
hate to upset the apple cart but charlies dad was no waaaaaay nearly perfect at about the same age as charlie is now
but the homeless charities think he is an effen saint
*zips fingers*
lol
well, i like them both as actors. hate to see what he is going thru. hate to see his family go thru it. his father is a recovering alcholic
well, i like them both as actors. hate to see what he is going thru. hate to see his family go thru it. his father is a recovering alcholic
thankfully martin sorted himself out and is, yes, now a thorogjhly decent man so hopefully charlie will follow his example - eventually
I don't think he's clean either Ivesy. And I've logged a lot of time around recovering addicts and alcoholics.
me too, up close and personal
OK giving up for now - still a few to find but must dash - seeya
(((Ivesy)))) I think dealing with addiction as a parent of an addict is the hardest way to deal with it.
yes its a hard road. even when they are clean, and mine is, u still wonder when will they use. u support them, but i dont think u ever trust them
Trust is a very hard thing to build back. I hope you get there again with your son or daughter Ivesy. Meanwhile, I'm glad to hear the spin is towards recovery at the moment.
ty molly... 8 mos and counting!
This is what most of my work is about as a therapist
I'm grateful there are people like you Kap.
really kap? thats interesting.he has had many counselors.. the last 2 were the ones that kept him going
So, I am at the airport!
As usual (apparently) they canceled my original flight but this time I lost my upgrade. Oh well.
Sue, you must be racking up the frequent flier miles. Safe travels to you.
Not nearly as fast as when I was commuting from Chicago to Geneva, Molly :-) but flying isn't as fun as it used to be, with very crowded planes and intrusive security.
well, the sun is shining here and a balmy 41 degrees!
Oh trust me Sue, I don't consider flying fun.
Sun is good, ivesy
gee, it's a lot warmer than that in Newark, ivesy, but also sunny!
freezing rain.
ok, it is always embarrassing to realize that I've missed the singular of a word that I have the pllural of :-/
li7/32 pls xxx
oh well, western ny, is having a hard time gettin into spring lol
I hate it when that happens.
<-------Does that a lot.
Fish smack!
even northern Illinois is warm today! The dog needs a haircut, apparently - getting too hot for her already!
that a clue molly?
frog - the most citrus fruit
Or the most British?
if you have the li6 you should have seen it
ty xxx
yes Kap
Lickety
what about Lickety?
Lickety's list is easier to use when you realize that O comes after N...
You betcha.
sorry, the apostrophe key is much too close to the enter key.
Hi everybody. Babbles been very bumpy today.. loads of 'Word cannot be added messages'.... I wonder is it just me?
haven't run into that, soodle; weren't you having those problems yesterday too?
Hi Soodle - not today but yesterday and the day before were like that on and off through the ehole time
whole, even!
stile
ooops
I guess, like everything else, the Paddies are the last to know... :-)! Seems to be grand now.
off to the PB I go - and choclit in there?
:)
Choclit flavoured Baileys, Glan, on account of the day tomorrow!
Sue... I seem to have lost track of your comings and goings.... Are you back with your Dad at the moment?
phantoms - tryst, donut, and several others - the vowels just aren't in the right places in today's grid!
so my son went to donate blood plasma in order to earn a few $$$, found out he couldn't as he'd let his drivers license expire. Sigh.
You guys get PAID for donating?
gee, soodle, can't imagine why :-) actually I am in the airport on my way home after visiting my dad for 4 days.
He is doing quite amazingly well.
Afternoon!
and 4 variations on my mothers sister is a bit excessive!
e don't get paid for donating here
not regular blood, soodle, but plasma - this is where they take it out one arm and put the red cells back in - if you do this 4x per month you can get $200
we dont get paid for Blood, but sometimes for plasma...
Like I said, Sue, my Babbles been on the blink. But I am very glad your Dad is doing so well. Rock on, Sue's Dad!
great news uusue
whole blood you can only donate every couple of months or so, and that is voluntary.
I donated my 41st pint of blood last week....
Yay, dad!!
we can only donate every 6mmonths here and it is all voluntary
Yaaay Soodle! they wont take my blood.
Is plasma donations tougher on a person's system?
they won't take mine any more since my cancer diagnosis
but..I am going tomorrow to be placed on the Bone Marrow Donor registry....
I received a blood transfusion when I was 18, which saved my life, so, I reckon its the least I can do....
oh, I'm on the bone marrow donor list too, since my sister's cancer diagnosis (many years ago)
although I may become too old soon.
I have a friend who needs a transplant...actually oddly, 2 ppl I know.
about the plasma (as my last message seems to have disappeared into the ether) - they take blood from one arm, filter it, and return your red cells via the other arm. Whole process takes about 2 hours.
You can do it every week, though, as mostly your body just has to replace the fluids (much faster than making new red blood cells)
21 left and an hour until boarding time - I think I can do this...
Seems very simple, Sue. Next time I'm at the blood bank I will make enquiries. Thanks be to goodness, I am a healthy enough specimen, so maybe I will be accepted as a donor.
I'm at 78 left...but I just started...
the other nice thing about plasma is that it doesn't need to be typed so they can use it for anyone (but it is missing the red cells so doesn't do the whole job; depends on what is needed)
I got fireworks for the first time in days earlier, Red, so I can happily clue if necessary.
Erm... I can clue happily, not necessarily well..... lol
I have no idea yet what I need.
aaaaaah! Red message of death! So it isn't just you, soodle :-)
Plasma is aweseome. I like giving it.
I mean to patients, as I mentioned, they do not want my blood.
Horrible, Sue, isn't it?
clue please for el 7/32
more of a tree.
many thanks
yw :-)
I have 3 kids, and as soon as they turned 18 - they were marched off to the blood bank! They resisted at first, but it wasn't long before they started enjoying the feel-good factor! Two down, one to go!
oh, I've seen it before, and yes, it sucks :-) (the red message, that is)
Good for you Soodle. What a great way to pay it forward.
Hello Zooz (((()))
at first I thought you were referring to me, and I was wondering what I had written that construed a Message of Death!
snoa
Hey (((((Moll))))
Hello, ((Soodle)) :-)
hahaha - not you, red! Sorry about that!!!
Lol Red..... relax.
more nasal than that, crafty
Sn + opp to no
sorry have the nasal one thanks have 13 left and finding them is getting hard
Its Wednesday evening here, but it feels like a Friday. No work tomorrow - St Patricks Day. Woo-Hoo!
Soda bread is made. Corned beef ready to go in the crock pot in the morning. Soda bread, honey and Irish whiskey will be left out for the little people tonight.
What have you got planned, Soodle?
sounds yummy, soodle!
h man, I would love to have St Pat's Day off!
nice meal Molly!
last word coming up, and it is a fish....
lol
ta da!!!
Oh my. Molly is totally putting me to shame. I have not corned beef ready, no soda bread, and as for the little people.... they will go thirsty! I'm just revelling in the fact I don't have to go to work tomorrow...
WTG Uusue.
Woo-Hoo Yoo-Soo!!!!
Corned beef on St. Pat's is a totally Americanized version of the day. Don't y'all do lamb stew or something more traditional?
And Soodle, fair warning. The little people get very cranky when you don't leave them treats on St. Patrick's Day Eve. And you don't get any gold coins in the morning either.
ok, I have updated my icon to a photo of my mom taken around the time she married my dad (1946)
ROFL, Moll. After being in the pub drowning the shamrock on St Patricks day most chefs are renderedmincompentant. So the usual fare is fish n chips from the local takeaway. However, I will heed your warning, and leave a couple of coins out for the gold-diggers!!!!
My mother was a beautiful woman...
Jeepers Sue, what a beautiful girl she was... How old was she in that pic?
She was in her early 20s.
She died of ovarian cancer shortly after her 50th birthday - "She never wanted to get old", my dad told me recently.
she looks like a teenager in that photo - and a sensational looking teenager at that....
Runs in the family - we tend to look younger than we are :-)
I'm not fishing to find out how old you are, Sue, but were you very young when she died, or do you have accurate memories of your Mom?
lol, soodle, my age is in my profile so not a big secret. I was 22 when she died, and remember her well. She died in 1973.
Jaysus Mary and Joseph Soodle. You don't leave coins for the little people. You leave them drink. THEY leave YOU coins in appreciation.
Molly! I will be forever in your debt. No wonder I am pauperised and poverty stricken. I was doing it backways all these years...Buckets of booze are being distributed around Chez Soodle as I type, to encourage the little people to bestow favours upon us...........
ry4/7 pls xxx
clue for li6/27
nm found it
The ry sounds like an orange peel
ty xxx
Sue.. 22 was a very difficult age to lose you mom. My own Mom lost her mother at age 15, and I think its affected her life ever since.
I think any age is difficult, soodle; my brother was 18 and my sister was 14 (and in turn my sister's children were teenagers when she passed away).
can i ask you clever people a question? if you put an s on the end of some words it is a plural. wot is it called if you put ae on the end of a word?
Huh. So I've been plugged into this outlet at the airport for, oh, 2 hours now, but my computer doesn't seem to be charging. If I disappear suddenly you will know why :-)
frog, I would call that a Latin plural
yes, but is there not an english word for this type of pluralisation?
you have just sailed past my knowledge of English, frog :-)
I am heading to bed. May you all have a very happy and peaceful St Patricks Day. Blessings on all of you. Poof
same to you Soodle
night, soodle!
May the Lord bless you and keep you Soodle. Millions of little people are descending on Chez Soodle as I type this. Faith and begorra.
First declension latin nouns end in a, and ae for the plural. Pluralization is the correct word.
ok, my battery is starting to complain, and boarding should start in 15 minutes or so, so I am going to sign off. See you all tomorrow, and I will be home!

peel it off, feather... skin grows back :)
Just curious...how many of us babblers are registered in the Bone marrow registry?
ice cubes feather
I am red...
I am going tomorro to get swabbed...
i'm not able to grab it to peel it! i heated it too much, when i put the spatula in the pot to stir, there was a thick crust on top that hadn't yet melted. popped the spatula through suddenly, molten wax shot out and onto my fingers
I am not, red, because I thought my meds prevented me from being able to donate anything... but have heard differently lately, so I may do that when my life gets a little more normal
good news! there is a little baby in my town in need right now - about 3 months old - maybe he'll get lucky with you!
I hope so Nrkii. I now have 2 friends in need of a Match....
I hope so.
oh no, feather! how are you typing with wax on your fingers???
night then. *poof*
Feather, use the ice...it will break it off....

I cannot donate bone marrow due to having typhoid as a child ... although I would if I could.

hopefully he won't burn the candle at both ends
bye everyone -- happy babbling!
i repeat.....
Bye, thank you Nrkii!

what are you doing with a spatula and hot wax weed?
spatulas are for pancakes

sometimes
lolol
what is the wax issue?
doug is waxing his back or something?
LOL
lol, no, doug is hiding right now
scroll back in the chog whilst i get a bandaid and ointment
you want to wax him?
<---should hide with Doug
i did.... it is off the scroll
you need your back waxed ru... I would be happy to be the one to cause the pain
no.. don't need it waxed thank you..
my eyebrows however...
thread those... more precision
ow
poor weedie
I love threading... sensitive skin ad the wax irritates it
is she owing about that dag toe agai?
the jar of wax seemed to be taking forever to heat up, so i kept heating it. little did i know that under the hard top half inch layer was molten lava, that spewed out when poked with the wooden spatula
sheesh
no, my frigging finger that is now minus a few layers! i think i probably peeled off the top of a blister when i peeled the wax off
who got injured?
ME!
my apologies to anyone trying to grid here....
what color is it ow?
now?
lol
the newly exposed skin? pink
good... you'll live
pbthththth
what color would be bad? chartruese?
you won't need a chemical peel now
what? you would rather I say you'll die?
chartreuse
black
black is very very bad
oh boy
ow.
black with gray is gone
nah, not black. pink, a little red in areas, a little white in areas where the skin is lifted
glee
glees
gleet
glee?
oops
LOL
that was weed's fault
ha
ok, i might as well go finish the job i was about to start, since the wax has probably cooled to a usable state now, rather than molten lava
bbl
wait
...
how big is the area?
which part of the had?
does it cross a joint?
peeled part is small, width of my fingernail bed, about 1/4 inch from front to back
no joints, ring finger near the nail
hurts like hell every time i take the icepack off to type
*turns off the hot tub at Doug's request*
lol ru
ok.... I would advise pain meds now ad scheduled for a day or two.... that raea has lots of nerves so will hurt like the dickens
ahhh, ok, thanks
yeah, and go to yahoo to hear my unedited reply to the hurting like the dickens comment! LOL
I'd do take out for a couple of days and have Doug do the dishes for a little while
keep it covered, silvadee if you have it, if ot, any abx gel and a bandage... will heal better that way ad be less painful if ot exposed to air
feet up, no housework, etc etc
k, bandaid and neosporin already on it, and ice pack over that
wondering why weed doesn't use professional waxing services?
no neo, it is an oil, will continue the burning
cause weed is apparently a MORON
just looking back in the chog..what did you do tto yerself feathers?
go with a lotion or aloe
if bad tonight.. take ibuprofe 800... ca do that every 8 hours if you need it ad the lower dose not working
ok, ty

Really home, I mean; just got back from the airport.
welcome home, uu ... enjoyable triip?
-i
Yes, indeed, and my dad is doing extremely well.
I also took a picture of a photo he had of my mom, which is my icon now :-)
glad to hear ... bet it's a nice feeling ;)
pini is it you that lives in oregon that gave me some names of wineries in the Eugene area a few months ago?
help with my last word. st 4,4 the first one

uu's clue is right
are you coming out west, nan?
loved the wine we found -- back in Eugene again tonight, but not wine shopping, as we will be crossing the border on Friday!
you're HERE????
on our way home from Palm Desert, Pini
oooooh! how long will you be in town?
yes -- crashing after 9 hours on the road today. Plan to hit the outlet mall tomorrow
Just till morning
awww
which outlet mall, woodburn?
maybe we can make plans to meet when we come back next year.
Yes, Woodburn
Is there another we don't know about?
next time you're coming thru, let me know...perhaps we grab lunch or something
I thought there was one in Salem, but maybe not
the Woodburn stores are more like "company stores"...not all are 'outlet' stores...
...there's an outlet mall over on the coast (Lincoln City, near Newport)
oh -- too far out of our way!
...and another outlet mall in Bend (I like the one on the coast better)
bl6/33! That word gave me FIREWORKS!
wtg jilli! :)
yea jilli :)
Hello gang
YAY Jilli
hey bugs
yay, jilli!
Thanks, y'all!
Hi Pini. How sad you miss miss meeting Cybernan
I know! She'd better not pass thru without letting me know next time!
I might have to hurt someone! LOL
we'll do it next year -- will be on our way through around Nov. 28
or maybe come up here and we will all go visit here where she lives!

(I knew what you meant, nan) =]
It is lovely in the Okanagon in the summer
we will be spending more time in the area in November -- stocking up on wine for Christmas (don't like any of the California whites)
I can only imagine, bugs...I haven't been to Canada in such a long time...
sounds like a plan, nan!
Jilli I did not know Victoria was giving out palm trees for years. What is that in aid of?
that's true bugs -- are you in the okanagan?
Did you get anything from King Estate?
yes -- some from King Estate, but my favourite was Sweet Cheeks
I am in the Comox Valley Nan but my father's family was from Kelowna so we used to holiday there all the time when I was a kid.
t

yes -- their wine too!
of course ;)

Bugs, I didn't know about the palm tree sales until I read about it for the theme. No idea if there's a charitable purpose. All I do know is that they're expensive in the local nurseries!
