Over the weekend I saw a really sad movie... The Cove ... about dolphins - the person who took care of Flipper was in it..
hmm
bud?
clue pls ar5/12
I think I've seen part of that movie, dee -- very sad indeed.
changed my mind about a lot of things... I can't remember his name... he was usually in the water "tending" flipper... the death of flipper actually turned him into an activist... very interesting movie..
sounds like he had a porpoise in life dee
sorry, vanilla, no have got
ooooh, too funny...wish I had thot of that
ar5 = the word for length x width plus an extra consonant near the end
l x w not in the grid is it?
oops, I mean "ne4 the end"
ty rbud -- I hereby excuse you from the PB
no, but those 4 letters, with a consonant before the last letter
hello all - opened my email and see a stream of greetings from facebook babblers - what changed?
I think drg changed facebook's group settings
you can adjust them ursh
DrG made the babbers Community easily available on Facebook
i dont mind - makes me feel popular lol
my ar 5/12 is verb of being + abbrev for far west state where hollywood is...
they made the groups change from the way they were to the new format - no more discussion section, I don't think, they're just like a wall.
lol ursh
same thing I have, Dee, maybe your hint is better. :)
URsh do you know how to change your settings?
no herin - but i have not really looked
Well, can't stay awake any longer -- goodnight all...*poof
but a quick lesson from you would help herin
not better, just different
Here: go to Account Account settings Notifications Groups Untick Babble
This is ON FB.
got it - tx herin
No drama
Hi too
must be getting tired still cant see ar5 must start at bottom and finish with hollywood state at top but only five letters
Off again so I can babble
verb of being (3 letters) + state abbrev (2 letters)
I enjoyed seeing all the notifications from the Babble page at fb today, and so many folks checking in, it was fun.
haven't seen my email yet, though, might not be so thrilled to see all those from there, haha!
this ignorant australian thought yeah hollywood Los Angeles lol

good morning
hi everyone
hiya coo.girl
Hello all. ((((Ruby)))) Mae Culpa - I owe you an email. Laters, I promise :-)
hi ruby and cool...long break
and hi sood too !!
:-)
{{soodle!!}}, {{westford}}
my computer had probs 4 a few weeks plus been working non stop
I thought I had offended you, as usual, soodles, with my obama remark.
sitting here all alone for 2 hours
my computer is giving me conniptions (as we used to say, 100 yrs ago)
hope it's all better now cool
aaaw westford, you should have called.....
lol ruby I remember that
Ba ha ha Rubes! It would take a heck of a lot more than than that to offend me!!
or maybe conniption-fits
how was your visit with the president sood?
yeah ended up buying a laptop
our friends from Dublin arrived yesterday and they were much more impressed with the Queen's visit than with O'Bama's
he doesn't have a pretty hat is why
great cool do you love it?
nor does Michelle!
true ruby but she does have class
not to say the Queen doesn't
Mrs.Queen is a classic
from what everyone says, the Queen really had a wonderful time in Ireland, even smiled and responded to the Irish warmth
how could she help it
much better trouble is never get any reports 4 work done cause im to busy babbling
when we got off the ferry from Wales even the customs officer welcomed us
Both visits went exceptionally well, thank goodness. I think the Queen's was more impressive as it was the first visit by a reigning monarch in over 100 years. It was hugely significant.
And thanks for the nice words about Ireland :-)
cool must keep your priorities straight..babble comes first lol
we need some good news to take our minds off DSK (eew)
you're welcome sood..very true
def comes first!
hard to believe no reigning monarch has been to Ireland for that long
ruby now there's another int'l banker in trouble..what is it with those guys?
Aw rats.... I have to go & do a bit of work. Have a lovely day, everybody. Poof
think they're above the law; it's disgusting. And the French are all complaining about DSK's equal treatment before the law, not like this "old boy's network"
bye
bye sood hurry back
are you still having nice weather ruby?
we finally got our much-needed rain but it's really cold now
once
whoops, sorry
you had rain once? lol
already had that
slightly wired from too much coffee....
we had no snow all winter except in december and then a terrible drought
somethings not right in parent land
parent land?
our oldest daughter has not been answering emails so I asked my husband to drop by to see her on his way home from the office..he goes up about once a week and she lives nearby
how old is she?
nest
I got a text from her and she said she wants to come see us on Friday to discuss something
she's our oldest 44 but you know you never stop being a mother
so now I'm worried
I hate "announced" conversations. My husband does that and it's always unpleasant. Can't people just talk?
my son is 48 and I know exactly what you mean.
saw her on the 15th and she seemed tired and said she and her husband of 25 years had been 'fighting'
no, 47, bad mother Nel
her oldest daughter is moving out so that might be part of it
they have always been very close
Cassie graduated from college last year and still hasn't found a job
woe is you!
so she's going to go back and get her masters
ones
zones
I don't think she'll leave hubby she loves his family too much lol
I'm losing my marbles, so sorry, I'm sure you had those already but don't report me to the hall monitor, please!
oh I will.."Miss, Ruby is putting words in the chat log"
that's very goood, her going back to school, will surely help the empty-nest syndrome
she has a home day care so she's surrounded by 2 year olds
maybe that's the trouble lol
BTW, my beloved Ruby hid for more than an hour yesterday in pouring rain and I drove and walked around the village crying and calling her name. Crazy. When I got back she was waiting for me on the stoop, soaking wet and crying.
oh no how awful
totally destroyed my day.
is she afraid of rain?
and husband, as usual, slept through the whole drama
must run *poof*
okay hurry back
how many words today please

TY Nhaz
You're welcome.
Good morning all...are the grids getting tougher or am I getting dumber? lol
Good morning all...are the grids getting tougher or am I getting dumber? lol
Good morning all...are the grids getting tougher or am I getting dumber? lol
oh, so sorry...traveling down 95 south and didn't think my message went through
The past two days haven't been easy, today's is more pleasant.
glad to hear that as I am somewhat sleep deprived
I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you waken up properly.
ty Haz..left at 2 a.m. on a 10 hour drive to myrtle beach SC so I will have plenty of time
10 hours is a lot of driving! Are you staying there for a while?
10 days..daughter and SIL and 4 other friends will be arriving on Friday also, so should be a fun time
Are you sharing driving responsibiities?
ahhh, no...dh is driving motorhome...which I really don't like driving
So he gets to drive, you get to babble. You've worked that one well.
but he is used to it as he drives tractor trailers on a daily basis and we will take a few breaks
lol I get to babble as long as my internet connection holds up
Good for you!
Well, I've got a few errands to run so I'll head off. Enjoy the grid, SeaSpray, and I hope you have a safe journey. Bye for now!
bye Haz...have a great day and thanks for the well wishes
No problem - see you again.
hello my dear friends
Hi Trif
good morning. my icon photo is HUGE and I don't know how to fix it!
Oh, I am not a good one to ask...maybe someone will jump on here and tell us both
Clue please for cr 8/50
sorry gran...don't have that one
but I just go it...think moon
or a type of dinner roll
I have not seen you for a long while sea spray - how are you?
I am well Trif and you?...Is the pic of you and your son>?
good morning! :0)
gm Mary
yes, sea spray it is. He is graduating on Saturday....snif.
gm mary
:0)
I know I am going to be a sobbing mess on the day....
Oh Trif...I remember the feeling...the harder tears will flow when you take them to college and walk out of that dorm and leave them behind...I remember it being a very long ride home...Graduations tend to bring back memories of their sweet, innocent childhood
double snif. he is my first one to fly the ne4, so I am very nostalgic right now. and the college he will be attending is smack in the middle of the city, and thus a real change from our rural setting
But, do enjoy the day...it is a big adjustment, espedcially when they become so independent...Yes daughter grew quite accustomed to the city life as well after living in the country...her best friend from college lives in the city...country girl and city girl met the first day of school and remain best friends 7 years later, both are RN's and very successful
what a wonderful story of your daughter, sea spray! I hope that so much for my boy. he is really, really shy, so I am hoping he will meet some good friends in college, exactly as you describe - life long friends
my phantom today is - create
What will you son be studying? I have told Megan (daughters friend) that my daughter is so fortunate to have a great friend like her...she gave her the most beautiful bridal shower you could imagine and was her maid of honor...College may be just what you son needs to overcome his shyness...Is he looking forward to college?
he is going to an art college, and wants to become a teacher, so he will be there for a five year course, after which he graduates with an MFA and a teaching cert, if all goes according to plan. He is REALLY excited about the classes and being in the city. Less excited about the odds of having to share a room - my only boy, he has never done so.
Sound like he has a great plan, which is most important...sharing a room can be a challenge but there are ways to overcome difficult situations when rooming...daughter did a 5 year stint to ger her bachelors in nursing and it was well worth it
thanks sea spray. Like all parents, I just want him to be happy.
She also had 3 roommates, but each girl had their own bedroom, shared a bath with one other girl and had a common kitchen, living room area
She also had 3 roommates, but each girl had their own bedroom, shared a bath with one other girl and had a common kitchen, living room area
He will do very well and is only a phone call away...chin up Trip!
if he gets a double in the dorm, he will be sharing sleeping quarters with one guy, and sharing a bathroom between four, I think
oh, yes, I know. it's just the change is hard
and, to be honest, I with things with the ex were more friendly, even so. It would be so good to be able to talk over how fast it has all gone, have a bottle of wine and gas over how proud we are, our hopes for his future. but we don't really talk, so that's out, and I miss it
Oh, hubby is pulling over for breakfast now so I had better get a move on....I know, letting them fly is very hard...have a wonderful graduation Trif and next week you can tell us all about it!\
thanks sea spray,and traveling mercies!
bye Trif...heading to Myrtle Beach
does anyone have the link for expert babble?
Trif, big congratulations to your boy. And I know that feeling of wanting to share a happy day like this with his Father. I missed that last year when my son graduated.
hello everyone...my chat is dragging and lagging. Is anyone else having that problem?
and trif..huge congratulations to you.
Good morning.

Sounds great.
we are really looking forward to it!
Awesome!
my only disappointment is that the Yerkes Observatory is only open on weekends ;-)
We are heading out at the end of the week for a trip to the midwest.
oh, where, bea?
<---- Will leave Sue alone so she can enjoy quiet time with her man. Sends bottle of champagne via carrier pigeon. *

Hi and Bye tc!
Have a great day everyone!
good morning everyone;)
One of the 9's is very, very twisty.

tceicher are those letters very slow clues?
that seems to happen to quite a few babblers, just a single letter dribbles out from time to time
but if we watch very carfully......
oh,like the old roadside advertizing signs? lol
burma shave
lol, good morning everyone
good morning everyone
hi, flosey!
and hi, mom!
hello floseyy and mom. I thought I was the only one old enough to remember Burma Shave
good morning, uusue. I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip
I meant the old Burma Shave signs, does anyone remember them?
thanks ruby
I remember Burma Shave. Good morning, ((Ruby))
yes i certainly do remember them along the roads as we travelled
s
yes, for sure, on my first trip to Forida in 1955
"look alie
As you drive
ok, time to go pack, will be back in a bit with breakfast but then I am off!
careful going
stay alive"
Ruby, I thought we were about the same age. I was born in '57
(I just made that up!
and now it is time fro crossy,s tidbit of the day....
for
no, '43
hubby (not at the time) on his way back from toronto to U. at Victoria just happened to pick up one of those signs as a memory of the trip driving across canada)
All I remember about trips south are all the South Of The Border Pedro signs.
The Hawaiian alphabet only has twelve letters: A, E, I, O, U, H, K, L, M, N, P and W.
holding breath for crossy[s tidbit!
ah, you are still a youngster, Ruby
once spent a New Year's Eve at South of the Border with my parents
Ole!
ruby - that was a very good year
aloha all
if I remember correctly, they were all good years!!!!
Aloha wvteach
aloha, wvtach
am going to Vancouver for a few days, still have a bit of packing to do - hope to catch the 9:50 ferry off this island, then the 11: ferry off Vancouver Island to VAncouver
that's what I'm aiming at
I hope you have a safe trip, Flosey
you are so fortunatey, flowey, it is supposed to be one of the few remaining great places to live!
(Standing in for Ruru) Have a ferry nice time Flosey. : D
ooh, poopy typing.....
morning Molly
oh so much of Vancouver is being bought up by very wealthy orientals and asians - apparently they fly over, look down and say there's a property I want!!
Hi Mom, are you getting excited?
Hi Mom, are you getting excited?
Hi Mom, are you getting excited?
Hi Mom, are you getting excited?
good restaurants, bad neighbors....
and, in so doing, raise the prices of all property - daughter and hubby will have to pay a lot to buy a hoouse there
i am fortunate in living where i do.i am right on the shores of georgian bay at the base of blue mountain.in 5 minutes i can have the canoe in the water or be on top of the hill watching the deer and the wild turkeys
not nearly as much as you seem to be, Molly. :-)
lol
it is truly a wonderful area crossy
I am holding my own right now. Come Saturday might be more of a basket case.
sounds delightful ((Crossy)) and good morning
what happens on Saturday?
our island is overrun with deer - hubby had to slam on brakes the other evening, one just sauntered across the road
Ruby, our oldest is getting married
lol flosey,we are forever stopping for deer
oh Flosey, that is good he could stop in time
almost everyone has those wildlife whistles mounted on the cars somewhere
*oldest son
deer can be very scary; they stand in the road, very nonchalantly, and when there is ice and snow, uh oh....
yes, Mom, it could have destroyed the car! to say nothing of the poor animal
we live right in town and have a problem with deer - paper just ran an article that they have surveyed 664 deer in the city limits
I work with someone who hunts deer. He told me those whistles don't work. Just what he says.
did not know deer filled out surveys;)
no deer here, unfortunately (I'd rather have to watch out for them than not have any)
Oh Flosey, that would have been horrible.
anything is worth a try vs hitting a 300 pound buck at 2 am on a side road
morning babblers :)
Sorry about the triple posting.
that is amazing, wvtach!
wow, they need to allow some folk to enjoy a bit of vennison (I don't like any wild meat)
hello hello no no
good morning ((Nono))
Molly, the deer whistles do work but your speed must be at least 40 mph
or even teach!
used to hunt at one time myself
ah, no biggie Molly
I like having them - even when they are eating the flowers in the garden or wandering across the roads
<----- Thinks wild meat stinks to high heaven
they wanted to allow an urban deer hunt but it was voted down - luckily
will not eat wild meat
venison is good if cooked right
We have managed hunts around here to control the deer population. Me, I could never hunt. I cried when I ran over a squirrel once.
brother tried to pass off venison bbq as beef bbq. ha! no way. You could tell by looking at it it wasn't beef
the first day of deer hunting season (Monday before Thanksgiving) is a big holiday here in WV
I don't like the taste, but wouldn't hunt anyway. However, in my salad days, I welcomed a chunk of venison when I couldn't afford other meat
Unfortunately, venison is cooked in my office all the time. No one could pass it off as beef to me.
a tag for the november hunt and a nice kill when my da used to hunt meant a freezer full of deer and not macaroni 4 nights a week all winter long..got used to the game taste fast lol
ne****s, ******s make the very best chocolate!
I suppose you would Crossy
now that I do enjoy, Mom
me too, Flosey
Yes they do Mom
not familiar with the name though
I prefer Hershey but will eat Ne****'s in a pinch
amazing how tag lines stick with you over all these years
saw the word in the grid and made me sing the tune
Roger's in Victoria are quite famous for their chocolate
would eat any milk chocolate, don't like the dark stuff which tastes like dirt to me as I can't pick up the sweetness (obviously, my limitation)
I am with you Ruby. Only dark chocolate I eat is on a Mounds bar.
I've been slowly training self to eat darker chocolate - apparently actually good for you, as long as amount is limited
aaah, Mounds, I remember those well!
Lindt has a wonderful bar of dark chocolate with bits of hot red pepper - it is delicious
dark choc. use to be a migraine trigger
red pepper in a chocolate bar? Wow
I can't get husband to eat dark chocolate, even though he likes it. He rembers being fat!
it is amazing, Mom
remembers, even*
grayed the Z's
in the movie Chocolat, Juliette made chocolate with peppers in it
we can get some Lindt here, I will have to look for it for my boys. They like hot red pepper. My stomach can't take it
loved that movie ruby
it's one of my favorites, have seen it many times
oh Mom, they also make my favourite - peanut butter creams
I do like peanut butter
I would love that!
they're in milk chocolate ruby
I had better scoot off here, have much to do before Annie arrives to spend the day with me.
<-------------- this Annie
no peanut butter here. Sometimes |I make sandwicvhes with peanuts, butter, homemade jam and whole wheat bread. Not bad, either
I must shower and shampoo - so that hair will dry before I leave, bbs
you can't get peanut butter there Ruby?
bye Flosely
ah, I live a toasted pb sandwich with chopped chocolate in it
bye everybody -- siesta time in Dixie
*Love
but definitely not choc chips
bye ruby I may not be playing for a few days
:-) Flosey
you will be missed, flosey!!!!
ty ruby, be back Tuesday - but may have a chance to pop in off and on while over there
no, can't get PB unless I g to swit\zerland
*poof*
that is really strange?
Ruby if you can get peanuts you can make your own peanut butter. It's not hard to do.
all they know here is cheese!
true Molly
What do you add?
which oil
A little bit of peanut oil. Depends on how thick or creamy you want it.
nothing erlse?
I will try it.....
a dash of finly ground sea salt
unless you are on salt restricted diet
I use a lot of sea salt
moi hahah
home made pb will seperate once in a while and will need to be re-mizxed
Peanut butter recipe...http://tinyurl.com/794uxm
I can do that
mixed even
You have to fool around with it to get the taste you want.
ty molly, now going to try to take a nap if mr. ruby will stay put for a while
many people add a dash of icing sugar in the mixture
if you keep pb in the frig it won't separate
back for a few more while hair dries
I understand keeping fresh peanut butter in the fridge but I know someone who keeps the store bought stuff in the fridge. I would hate to have to warm peanut butter every time I wanted to use it.
if you buy all natural pb, it too will separate if not kept in frig.
smart balance peanut butter doesn't need refrigeration and has a good balance of types of fats and omega acids and all that. i highly recommend it. :)
not familiar with that brand, hurshy
hmm, maybe it's only in the US.
perhaps
they sell margarine, pb, veg oil, all sorts of things that are healthier than regular options.
is good for me with my cholesterol issues.
we have same available, just different brand names - I too have had cholesterol probs.
heaven save me from my first colesterol/lipid/stress test
i am sure i shall be cut off of everything but tofu, bean sprouts and distilled water;((
not true, i don't eat tofu or bean sprouts!
when I refused to take meds for it, dr sent me to an exercise program - all heart issue people, and got it down as well as losing 50 lbs! 3 times a week - I should have kept going!
lol
nor I hurshy - we did try it though, unsuccessfully
do not like tofu
I even made it myself - was softer than store bought
you really can find things that YOU like that are healthy, different things work best for different people in terms of their lifestyle and what they will stick with. if you don't like your food, it's not a sustainable diet.
you will pry my eggs away from me only by removing them from my cold dead hands
there are things i like that i don't eat very often anymore - but they have been substituted with other things i like, not with things i hate.
That is so true Hursh. A diet that consists only of food you don't like will either lead to starvation or an aborted diet.
we too hurshy - when hubby had cancer for the second time, we did change our diet considerably
and felt better for it
and now some things i used to like that are unhealthy, i have less of a taste for, as i've moved away from them.
eat the desired (non recommended) treats occasionally
though i admit, there has to be a change..3 cancers later and i am eating more veggies and less fatty meat, more fish and less red meat
no to steal you away from yout healthy conversation, but hints for the far-right E?
for us too hurshy
Made a mistake Eva
made a mistake, evanadine
i LOVE seafood :)
I need 1 more Z - I have ze4, 4, 4, 6 zo 4, 5, 5

lol speaking of!
have a good day, doxy
eva...it's er 5,12
ah, the es5 works from two e's, didn
didn't notice which
if a word can start from two tiles it always comes from the first one, left to right, top to bottom.
Oh man, the words "fresh seafood in abundance" are heaven to me.
oh, thanks hurshy, I've never noticed that
that's "hurshy's guide to boxes" in a nutshell. :)
ty indeed
better check that I have everything together so no last minute rush! bbs
aiming at the 9:50 am ferry
i love a good ferry ride
Good Morning Fellow Babblers! Just got NBT and caught up with chog; I have 5 minutes till I have to leave. How is everybody today?

I've never heard of it flosey. But then again, I think that the NW US has some different stores that aren't found here

hi again, all! will be leaving shortly...

hi, crossy! :-)
co 5/22 a neat word we do not see often in babble=to confer with in earnest, usually with other motives
nice one, crossy!
lol,i even beat the dictionary on that one;)
the dictionary lists it as some vague mexican drug deal lol
or french to resell
i always try to remember a word first before o go tapping away at the question marks beside it in babble..good to exercise the mind
ah, ok, the original French is a little different, makes more sense now...
indeed, crossy!
<---- used to be quite fluent in French
i was force fed french all through high school,so of course i made it my mission to forget as much of it as i could...regret it now but cest la vie
i am sure that is also incorrect;)
but i am not a member of pariment,i am not running for any official office and i do not get out east to quebec much
I took it in high school, took one semester in college because I could satisfy both the foreign language requirement and the literature requirement with a French literature course - then many years later found myself moving for a year to Geneva, so brushed up before going and then became quite fluent while there
my son was fully bilingual for a while - I put him in a French-speaking kindergarten (he was 4) - but he's long since forgotten it all
usually when ontario residents travel to the east coast a point is made to get to the quebec border around 2 pm,rent a room till midnight or so,then get up and drive right through la belle province in one go
I actually have some fondness for Quebec - my high school French classes took a 5-day trip there every spring, and I absolutely loved it (of course it was 5 days away from the parents, which didn't hurt!)
well old quebec city is amazing and must be toured at least once
did it three years running, then convinced my family we should take a vacation there :-) haven't been there since about 1968, though
now the east coast, there is a grand vacation, get a little cottage right on the ocean so you can almost feel the salt spray through the bedroom windows, and walk the green hills and fells over to some little pub and have a local ale and order up a lobster boil with a nice salad and slabs of fresh crusty bread slathered in butter.then charter a boat and tour the coast for the afternoon
get to practice your newfie speak 'stay where yer at till i come where yer to"
sounds lovely (except Frank wouldn't be able to drink the ale or eat the bread - he's a little complicated to travel with :-)
but I love to travel - maybe after I retire I will have some time...
HA! exactly half way. Now we can leave :-)
frank have gluten issues?
celiac disease, not diagnosed until he was in his mid-50s so he is extremely sensitive
not good,i have seen the cost of the specialty foods for that...insane!
a small loaf of rice bread...10 dollars!
he volunteers at the local health food store, so we get 20% off but it is still expensive
mostly we eat veggies, a little meat, other grains (rice, corn, quinoa, buckwheat)
potatoes...
Good morning, all. Hey uusue - there is a gluten free beer. It's called Red Bridge. I think Budweiser makes it. It even tastes like real beer!
thank god for rice eh?
he does all the cooking (which is fine with me :-)
yes judi i have seen it here also
yes, we just bought some! It's about twice the price of regular beer but a very nice treat.
yes, rice is nice :-) we have a rice cooker which helps a lot
after years of no beer it must be nice
and I bought him a 50-pound bag of popcorn a while ago - will last a long time!
booz is not an issue i guess he can drink saki with no issues
Vodka is made from potatoes!
the polish stuff is judi
sake is ok but wine gives him trouble
distilled liquor is fine, though, and he really enjoys a nice single malt
apparently the distillation process removes all the gluten
ok, I am heading out with exactly half the words found :-) - be good, kiddoes!!!
tc sue
cross cant get co 5 clue....to meet in earnest...
There are 2 co 5/22s One sounds like how many donuts you buy...the other sounds like red flowers, but a different spelling

if anyone here uses a sony or nook e-reader,and loves a good sci-fi story,i just converted Arthurs c, clarkes,s "Childhoods end" an amazing tale will will sent it to those who wish it
and the kobo reader will also work
i do not bother with kindle as it has its own proprietary file format,it can read pdf i take it,but converting text from open file format to pdf i find it creates too many errors so i convert to e-pub file format
i also have flowers for algernon by daniel keyes and the cold equasions by tom goodwin if wanted
i must really stop talking to myself lol

Hello from Finland, the home of high prices

hello everyone - checking in from Vancouver while baby is napping -- grandpa and I get to babysit this am
Hi nan...how nice for you
my DH and I are babysitting our 6 1/2 month old grandson for the day and he (the baby) is sleeping while I grab some lunch
we will be in Vancouver in July - what are some of the best "must see" places to visit
Hi Nan. Enjoy your Grandma time.
we don't live here wvteach -- live 300 miles inland. But depending on your interests, you should take in Gastown (restored old city centre) and Grandville Island (artisans and market that shouldn't be missed). I think there are outdoor concerts in July and of of course, you will want to spend some time touring Stanley Park.
oh - and you can take a chair lift to the top of Grouse Mountain for the wonderful view.
we will driving around BC and will be at Manning Provincial Park for a wedding - are there things to see around there?
I miss my grands
we are very blessed to have them right here in town with us so I have him several times a week
Manning Park is pretty isolated -- it is provincial wilderness park halfway along the Hope-Princeton Highway. If you continue east from Manning Park you will come to the Okanagan Valley (we call it the Napa Valley of the North, with over 60 wineries). Three main towns there -- Penticton, Kelowna and Vernon with numerous villages strung out along the 79 mile long Okanagan Lake. What dates in July will you be here?
I miss my puppies too.
hehehe.... http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1toJHb/s prott.physics.wisc.edu/pickover/pc/man woman.html
hi bichon -- are you enjoying your trip?
The wdding is July 2. We are taking a week to drive out there and 3-4 weeks to come back home. No fixed itinerary - jusdt wandering
The bride is from Vancouver - my nephew (the groom) lives in Washington state
I was hoping we might connect, but we don't get back from England until July 10
there is the little one awake from her nap -- bfn -- will probably log on at the airport while waiting for our flight to take off this evening.
thanks for your tips - have copied them in to a file - sorry we will miss you there
have a safe trip
I think my traveling days are over but it's fun to read about all of your trips. Finalnd! Vancouver! Places I've never been....

hi all
hello jmc
We went to a Lutheran church cut out of the Helsinki bedrock. They were playing Finlandia by Sebaleus on the sound system
any one have a spare $10,000 to contribute to the Center? *sigh* not a good day today
how nice bichon! i love that song
I wish jmc - looking for 28K for college
have you filled out FAFSA yet?
oh ya...we dont get anything...we have to much of nothing I guess
the next place is to go to the financial aid office at the school and if there is one nearby go to the Foundation Library
2nd from last ce 6/21 plz oh plz plz
river, have you any college?
my husband just set up an appointment at the school
I have in the middle
many many years ago but my work paid for my degree. Went to work right out of high school and my company paid my full tuition towards a Business Admin degree...I was lucky but missed dorm opportunity
river have you gotten a degree before?
this is my first child enterring college....
I was asking becuase even if you dont get unemployment, they will pay for a first associates degree.
and now before i head to work,i leave you with crossy,s tidbit of the day!
Naperville Central High School, near Chicago, IL, is the only high school in America with an Egyptian mummy.
tc all and happy babbling
thats an interesting tidbit - thanks for sharing
Second from the last ce 6/21 is what you eat for breakfast
she was accepted into the photography and media program at a specialized art school that she really wants to go to...we will figure it out.
waffles ??? lol ty molly
bacon??
Yep, that's it Ivesy. You too River. : P
not me i eat it for supper
Lots of artistic kids in this community. My son has a degree in Fine Art.
She does real nice work in fine arts as well but really want photography as her major. She will get a taste of it all at this college though. All arts are required for all students as well as all the liberal arts classes.
and actually most states' department of education have a webpage to help students find additional money
she applied for many scholarships - nothing yet...Im surprised as she is an honors student with good grades, 3 languages, national honor society, sports all 4 years, multiple clubs, latin honor society. What more do they want???
my son was eligible for $1000 because he was the descendant of a signer of the declaration of independence that we just found by accident
one of my daughters best friends got almost a full scholarship because she is legally considered a midget at 4 foot 10...too funny
speaking of kids... i had an amazing conversation with my great grandson, sam, yesterday... He informed me that the capitol of ojio is columbus and cincinnatti is on the ohio river and akron makes tires and they have a blimp, and that toledo is on lake erie and they have a college that his coisin amanda attends and that we live in a suburb of cleveland ( gave me the correct address) and that he is pleased with the new watering can that i gave him as he can now water everyone's toes ( we have 10 you know)...... he will be 3 years old next month
does anyone have the link for expert babble?
incredible...only 3?
yup
forward, if you click on flosey's profile and scroll down, she has a link there.
thanks
hello Haz

Hello, Riverdance, everyone.
and sammysmom and faith
i suggested that he pick out a book for me to read to him.. i have arranged one set of booksehlves with books for him at the proper height... instead he chose the ran mcnally atlas from the nest shelf doen . he LOVES the maps and can pick out the us and canada and mexico and several european countries .. which sadly enough sime highschool kids cannot do !!
hi
omg... did i kill the chat??? \
You can only be accused of killing chat when silence lasts for hours.
thanks haz
I could sense the panic rising.
tent
Sounds like a bright little guy SMom
he sure scares me molly.. his mom is quiter relaxed about his ability... I probably would have him registered at harvard by now
He'd get extra funding because he's so short....
i have a nephew who went to princeton when he was 15, he was an md when he 20..
never thought of that, think he woukld qualify as height challenged and get a grant?
Absolutely. Riverdance was quoting the example of a girl who was designated a midget (4 foot 10) and she got lots of money.
Can I ask a stupid question and query why you get extra money for being short?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, sometimes ya just has ta say hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........
and can you get money if you are over 7 foot tall?/ that is out of the "norm" also.
I don't know.
and some of us are WIDE and that surely needs compensation
You'd have people force-feeding themselves to qualify and that couldn't be good.
how are you all otoday - here for a little while before i am off to the gym again
I'm well.
cedar
oh bottoms -sorry
can anyone give a clue for the r on the bottom row with only 4 words and the e on the far right column please

Hello everybody. My laptop battery is about to expire. Just thought I would come on and say how lovely it is to see the Babble Community on Facebook. If I disappear, it is battery related, rather than Soodle-related!
Oh my, did Kazz have a bereavement?
Hi Soodle

Sounded like the storm cell hit another and slowed things down..thankfully.
just waiting for it to cool down. It's still 85 here in Dover. You are right Jilly. We were prepared, just so scary.
It was 92 here today and has been in the 90's for 3 days.
Kevin's been complaining about the heat, his new apartment doesn't have air conditioner. He had just moved from Millville to Providence. Old landlords were hunkered down too.
there are compact air conditioners that aren't that expensive.
you can move them from room to room.
He has to choose between bed and air...lol. But now since hubby's disability claim approved we might be able to help him.
that's good news!
You're telling me!! I only work part-time at two jobs, but thankfully the one put in a new computer system and I got lots of extra hours...

Good Evening Everybody.
Hi Nef
TY diane...clue please?
Hi Nef?
only the first 4 letters are the same, car...
oops...Hi Nef!
I have only 166 words left. I hope the site stays up tonight!
es + what we reward with... e.g. a cookie for a child
didn't you see me car.ee?
Yes, but I questioned my hello instead of saying it excitedly!
or......es + tend to an illness
Mmm...cookies
Hi Nef
TY diane@
yw :-)
OK>...time to turn of the laptop....cell is moving in. BBL.
stay safe, car.ee
hi everyone -- got the firt 120 down while granddaughter was napping this am -- hope to get the rest before our flight leaves
back to finish, watching weather with son in Providence RI... >>
hi everyone
heard a tornado just passed near Sturbridge, MA
Yep, I'm watching closely so my son can go to bed; he works @ 4 AM in Camden. Watch extended til 11 PM
hi all, help pls with the first re5/12 pls
looks like the worst of it is north, at least for now
re + what you do on stage
duh, ty Molly
I had a lot of DUHS with this one Peri
seems like almost every clue I've asked for lately has been a duh!
Yes, it appears that the storm is northern bound...otherwise I probably wouldn't have volunteered to watch from thousands of miles away..LOL
jilly, just read your profile. what happened to nancy boy? I was gone from here for a while.
hi all, storming her in MO
So sad Natasha...developed severe infection, then all sorts of complications...passed away..
here
oh no! that's terribly sad.
he was quite young, wasn't he?
Yes...you might look at http://babblersanonymous.yuku.com/topi c/593/Condolences-on-Nancy-Boy-s-Passi ng#.TebV01ujOSo
oh, thank you. so sorry to trouble you.
No problem, just there had been a bit of babble controversy, so I am careful what I say...no trouble
I think that controversy has blown over. And that is a good thing. We should all feel free to remember our friend.
I so agree...it broke my heart when I learned..
I feel very fortunate to have "met" NB here. I have fond memories of his charming spirit.
So do I; my youngest is gay and NB and I chatted often.
such a community here....I don't always partiicpate, but feel so warmly about babble and the folks here
Truly a great group...very important to me although I have periods with no time to babble :(
Sheesh...just hitting the wall of RE's...
yes, there are a lot of them!
phone..brb
Ok...back...
howdy all!
Hi Angela!
May I please have a clue for tr7-28? Thanks
Everyone survived the tornado watches and warnings ok? We had two touch down about 40 miles from here. Crazy hail and thunderstorms...
Tr 7/28 is a part of a train track
c
I forgot you were so close Angela! Yes, we survived. The storms really melted away before they got to us. The boys were scared though.
Well, it's really a part of a bridge, but train bridges are referred to as tr7/28s
We're still under watch until 11pm but I think the worst has passed. Springfield MA and the areas around seem really torn up, but not as bad as the midwest...
back..
No, nothing like the midwest.
Thanks much, MollyL.
But I am sure it was frightening for those directly impacted here in Springfield and Monson, etc.
Hi Jilly!
Glad to help Peach
And hello to you too gapeach!

ty molly and diane
ac*ually, I think Facebook forced him into it; they just redid fan and group pages
Isn't there some way people can disable that email alert?
yes, you can choose to not be alerted everytime you get a notification, which might make sense at this point

Gosh, there was a site the offered free match up for those of us over 50 and widowed. My profile read, "black pointy hat, hairy wart on nose, no teeth, red socks, broom, black dress, and a cat. I had no takers........... hmmmmmmm wonder why? No one had a sense of humor!!!

Howdy
congrats Nan and Hi everyone else!
Hi Red, how is the healing process going?
hi red
Congrats Nan!
I guess OK. I just took a percocet, which makes me feel like a failure, but I feel a lot better.
Hi Doxy how are you?
Hi Red. Is it as bad as you feared?
Now, now. Not a failure. Pain meds exist for a reason.
not bad, I heard you had surgery. Hope you feel better soon. You should know that pain med help.
Been off for awhile red, hope you heal soon
I think it is a lot better. My only concern right now is that I walked on my leg a bit, and then found out I should not....
I follow up on Friday and we will see what he says. and PT tomorrow.
what did you have done?
Bad Red. Should be more careful
i feel like these huge grids are too much lately. ugh. cant even get half way which is my new goal.
BBL
It is very hard to walk and function with only the crutches. but I am now being more careful.
Red, it's got to be hard for a person as active as you are to be inactive in order to recover. Try to take things in do-able doses.
I had a hip arthroscopy, they trimmed some bone off and repaired my hip labrum...
the good thing about arthroscopy is you heal pretty fast. the bad thing is the PT
Hip arthroscopy is very different than the knee or the shoulder. It took about 4 hrs, I had to be intubated and no weight bearing for 2 weeks.
Red you will be running in no time
I'll probably be running in September.
any clue for the te6/21 after the camping shelter?
When the wound is healed can you do water aerobics?
I think Ouwachita that it is a person who administers exams?
That bottom C is turning my hair grey
yes, I'll be in the pool in a week or so, once the MD clears me. I'm just in that phase of waiting to see if the surgery worked, a little nerve wracking.
You will be fine
the cr7 herin? need a clue?
cr8?
red, isnt that a te6/18 farther down
Or I will have to go through it again. I just have to wait and see.
You gotta think positve red!!
te 6: number + what you pay annually to the club: d***
I dont know Ouwachita, I dont use the list yet.
cr 8: not a full moon
ty nan
I feel positive, but concerned, I think I will feel better after I see the MD in 2 days.

It's always nerve wracking until you get cleared

I just watched the first game of the Stanley Cup finals (hockey) -- Vancouver Canucks won over the Boston Bruins 1-0 in the last 19 seconds.

Must tell my Irish rugby fan neighbours
