flipDelftware is a kind of pottery that was created in the Netherlands, coming into production and circulation around 1884. Delftware is probably best known as white pottery that is decorated with blue artwork. Previously, pottery making in the Netherlands was quite simple and usually just standard earthenware. To compete with Chinese trading, Delftware initially created many pieces that were decorated in blue with Chinese scenery. After a short while, Dutch images were added onto the pottery, as well as flowers and decorative patterns. These items ranged from simple to intricate, and came in a wide variety. Delftware began to receive recognition not only in the Netherlands, but in surrounding countries in West Europe. With the rise in popularity of Delftware, there were 33 potteries within the city of Delft creating these works. Unfortunately, due to the popularity of Wedgwood and other British pottery companies, many of these potteries had to shut down in the late 1800s, and were unable to compete with the porcelain creations in England. Delftware is still considered a highly collectible brand of pottery, and each item is marked on its base by one of those 33 potteries.

Forgot to? Hi, Jellen. Get some food!
oops... time for cereal then jell
Wow, jellen!
I didn't time it, jilli.
Paid on attention to the time... maybe Laura did though, ask her?
I did snack a little while I was reading...
I think you should, neil, and post it so we can keep track, lol!
Do you ask other people to do that too?
How would Laura know?
I just killed the Sudoku puzzle too... but it was rated "easy" and this time the rating was accurate.
10:20
Ooh, I can set up a spreadsheet and create a graphical representation of Neil's times!
Because she's on here with me and I told her when I finished.
I'm gone! Nighty night all
Oh, so 20 minutes I guess?
No, neil, it's just that you're **Special**.
On "here"?
Oh geez, Jellen. I'll Babble silently in future, haha!
Yeah.
Yes, as in online?
haha
I'm special? Why is that?
Because you can smoke from your bellybutton Neazle. :P
You're so fast at Babble -- way ahead of us Dull Normals :-)
Oh geez! haha!
I'm exceedingly miffed at myself...

I'm just a word nerd, jilli. You should see me play Letterblox on OMGPOP. People leave my matches. They run away!
When you say "online" I guess you mean MSN or something?
hmmm I wouldn't run neil
Unfiltered. Neazle is a tough guy.

Well, that's the joy of Babble -- it's not a competition.

That was in Florida actually, haha! We were on Miami beach at the time.
Or if you're a dork. ;)
well .. then .. that explains that
yep, I go with dork on that one

And I'm a dork, don't forget, ruru.
Haha!
Well I am a dork... and proud of it!
Better than you speedo, ruru!
So thank you Laura and mrp!
i'll raise your dork and see you with a geek

Speedo? Wow... I don't wear those.

Nah. I don't haunt anyone.
Dorkier than me?

Oh wow. That takes some doing!
are you taking about the numi-bomber mr p?
I'm about as dorky as it gets.
Nobody can look dorkier than me here, surely? http://tinyurl.com/NL-SC-Dishe s

See what I mean about my hair? Ugh.
No mrp... that's geekiness, not dorkiness.
and I luv him for his dorkiness...

I'll probably never catch up to either of you.

I don't even know my ranking or rating or whatever. Gonna take a look.

I must be somewhere near the bottom of the ratings -- don't know, don't care.
*rankings
No you're not, jilli. I don't know how this works?
But you're in the "Village Elders" list at 3,480,562.
Elders? How appropriate, lol!
ruru..are you an elder too?
That's the thing -- the rankings are a mystery.
I think that means players who have been around the longest on Babble? Don't know.
Hello all!Insomnia has brought me back here yet again
Played the most games?

any clue sfor the re8,50 please
re8/50 - one who changes the appearance of something
re8 - could also be one who copies a letter of the Hebrew alphabet..
any different clues
re8 - a sculptor is one in relation to a block of marble.
eh, still dont know
Then move on, find some shorter words and you'll probably see it eventually.
Final clue, one who makes a square into a triangle or a sphere into a pyramid.
does it stretch from reps
No
No, it doesn't.
resp
nope, but ty, Haz, I finally sussed it out from your clues. :)
Nope
Move on and come back to it later is my advice.
rer
any clues for au8,45
au8 - comparative for au7/32 - forbidding, stern.
Oh, I didn't have that one yet. Thanks, Haz
dont know
You're welcome.
any clues for the au6,39 please
If you have ap4/10, the highest point, slip in you and me near the beginning. (You and me = ** )
ty, any clues for the as,7,32 please
Are you new here, Aaron?
sort of ,why
If it began with di instead of a, it would mean to break up a group, to separate, to spread over a wide area.
Just so you know: You'll get a much larger pool of people to give you clues later in the day. The majority of people who play here are US based, and this is the middle of the night for them
I think the problem is more that Aaronitor is more interested in the points than the words - going for the longer words first might seem a good idea but it makes it more difficult for both sides when it comes to giving clues.
I'm over halfway, but I'm gunning for NBT before I head off to bed.
Well, the advantage of getting here early is that there are an awful lot of folks who show up here early who are REALLY, REALLY GOOD at this game
Do you have any clues at all for the second U? Stats or anything? That's my only one left, and I'm almost as tired as I am sstubborn.
I'm never here at flip time but do read back for hints.
Oh, that's wise. Get all the advantages without sleep deprivation!
Exactly.
Do yo uhave *anything* for the second U?
un4/6 and its plural - un plus start of Antipodean country
(And by the way, it really chaps my hide that "Texan" is not in the dictionary. I mean, I know proper noun and blah blah blah, but still!)
It would accept texas, does that help ease the pain?
Also un6/36 - not gender specific
Really? So it's not a proper noun issue?
I want UN9--bigoted against people who aren't gender specific. ;)
There'll be some reason why texas is accepted, it'll have some other meaning.
un4/6 cant pl for me
Oh, right, a texas deck on a boat.
The *other* un4/6 does.
There are two un4/6. The first is un plus first two letters of kangaroo continent and then plural that.
yes ty
You're welcome.
OK, you got me through the blank tiles and now I'm off to bed. Thanks a bunch; I'll sleep better for it. :)
by sam
Sleep well!
nbs & nbt, off to grade some tests. See you all tomorrow
good morning all
Good morning, sprite.
hi Haz :)
is it a good one today?
At first glance I was convinced it would be a stinker, but actually, it's not bad at all.
ah ok, my first glance was rather similar.
Lots of faithful babble words to cheer the day.
ah good :) Thank you.
I think you'll enjoy it.
love having a good dose of babble with my coffee in the morning
Are your children back at school? Today is the start of the new term here.
children with a task for the holidays are to hand it in today. Tomorrow some classes will collect their rosters and books. And monday the other classes will, including my children's. From Tuesday on, the lessons will start.
And then it's back to routine again.
yes indeed. Will be good for all of us, actually.
Out of interest, are your trees starting to change colour? I thought I was seeing things a fortnight ago when I noticed chestnut trees starting to turn brown but apparently it's to do with the very dry spring we had.
no not yet. But it is coming. The radiant green is gone.
I go through this struggle every year, trying to hold on to the last flush of summer (not that it's been brilliant). It was dark by 9.00 last night. Eventually I'll just accept it, get the warmer clothes on and embrace autumn!
hehehe I sympathise with that struggle. For me, it comes at the end of autumn, when winter sets in. Especially when it is a wet winter.
I know. Dog walking becomes less attractive at that stage.
that too. But mostly I miss the light, and the colours. I can be easily consoled with good freezing winter weather though, if it is cold and sunny and everything looks so crisp and clear.
We're just hoping for a less severe winter than the past two. We're not equipped to cope with those minus temperatures.
The other thing is that fuel is so expensive.
my favorite winter would be pretty cold, but no snow. Well ok, a nice sprinkling around Xmas and New Year. Yes, fuel is getting more expensive all the time. We need to be very careful here to keep the bill down as much as possible.
I'm inclined to put more clothes on and wrap up warmly but my daughters never seem to wear anything with any great heat in it. My husband is a fresh air fiend and hates too much heat so it's a bit of a problem when everyone's together. Somebody is bound to grumble!
good morning everybody
Hello, ruby.
oh that is a bit of a problem. None of us likes it hot in the house, so that is easier. Warmer clothes and staying active is usually enough for during the day, and at night about 18 Celsius is ok.
hey rubyfoo, good morning
I'm going to excuse myself to go and get ready for a meeting. Enjoy the grid and have a nice day. Bye for now!
that question of who is hot and who isn't is always a problem! Husband is always cold (too skinny) but doesn't dress properly and the house is generally cold
have a good meeting (if something like that ex5s) and have a lovely day.
*gone*
bye haz
{{sprite}}
how is life in your nook of France, rubyfoo?
worried about husband, he is getting very fragile and strange....
aw poor man. Hard to watch, I bet :(
morning all
but the weather is beautiful here, rain at night, cool in the mornings and perfect in the afternoons. And still have roses and fruit!
hello carlee
hi carlee :)
hi ruby ..hi sprite... am sorry about hubby ruby
as annoying as he is, I feel very sorry for him
:( that is so... difficult {{hugs}}
it is tough on both of you :(
it is very sad as he was really something, even 15 years ago!
aging...sucks.... ( sorry at 4:30 am ...its difficult to be wordy and inspiring...but sending u good thoughts )
(((carlee))) it stinks if you cannot sleep either
any clues for the re8,50 please
true, rubyfoo... as Haz once said, aging is not for the timid.
too much going on...i was having fitful dreams ( but for a change..Good things)
{{carlee}} I am trying to keep my chin up and enjoy the pups etc
can you leave hubby alone for a few hours a week?
ah, good dreams are things to treasure. let's see if we can bore you back to sleep ;)
singing carlee a (toneless) lullaby
anyone
no, can't really do that
hi aaron
not me
no..i have good things happening...but i had fitful dreams because i am juggling far too many things ( again) at once
when my son was little, I used to sing him Depression-era Pete Seeger songs; he was my only uncritical audience!
any cles for the as7,32 please
do you have someone who can come stay whilst you go out for a few hours?
aaron...as7 is bleak
the problem is that he doesn't admit to there being anything wrong
ty carlee, that gave me a 7 and 8!
whether he does or doesnt is not what i am getting at... can your neighbour just "be there for a few hours"
I can imagine him being unable to admit that. But it makes it harder.
no, he doesn't want to see anyone
we used to have meals with neighbors occasionally, but that is finished
aren't there a lot of words in here that were in yesterday's grid, too?
yes, quite a few, rubyfoo
( men rarely admit shortcomings....i remember on our flight back from st. croix dxh was sitting in the emergency exit seat..stewardess asked him to trade with our son b/c she was not convinced that he was capable...he was incensed...and even tho i explained it was her job to ensure the safety of the plane and not take the time to assess whether or not he was or was not capable )
no, any different clues
i didnt do much of yesterday's again...too much happening
this would be coming to terms with his own mortality
and having his son and wife take over for him instead of him and our daughter... was...inexcusable
it is (generally speaking) a male thing, finding it hard to admit not being all-strong and all-capable. But admitting to be mortal and nearing the end is hard on all of us, I think.
yes, sprite, and sad!
very sad
its... part of life.. and with the joyous moments come the equally depressing and trying moments such as what you are going through ruby ( and that..is as deep as i get at this horrid hour)
don't worry about me, carlee, try to get some sleep. The last thing you need is concern about whiny me!
so very true, carlee. It always has two sides for me. One being what you said, it is a part of life and beautiful in itself, if you can see it as part of the circle of life and death. But the other side is where you miss people you love, and see them grow ill or confused and unhappy, and that sucks.
i will when am ready...
dont worry ..{hugs}
so....can i tell u all my good news???
please, would love some good news!
i was awarded a scholarship ( worth $1000.00 )
that is wonderful, carlee!
i know..i had no idea... but my package from school arrived today...
*gently knocks carlee over the head with a rubber hammer*
and in there was the notice that they awarded me a scholarship...
<-----wonders why sprite is knocking me over the head
for good luck maybe?
dutch custom?
hahah
i guess that makes sense..anyone who wears wooden shoes......
sprite???? hello???
hello all :)
( did the hammer hit sprite by accident???)
MRP {{hugs}}
sorry, I had serious lag, then a disconnect. rubber hammer helps to go to sleep, it is a joke though :P And woweeeee for the good news, how awesome, carlee!
{{hi and bye mrp}}
hi carlee **hugs**
hi mrP
off to see if husband is speaking to me or not
hi sprite :)
take care ruby {{hugs}}
bye rubyfoo, don't take it personal if he is not
no, I'll just come back here....
oops, is he 'ok'??
ruby told us he is getting very fragile and strange, mrP
oh dear... how hard on her and him
yes, a tough process
how was your day today mrp?
and how are things at your side, mrP?
back, he's still being unpleasant....
ok thanks! sleep was uncomfortable, been on my back for nearly 3 days... can't lay on my side
oh dear... :(
poor ruby :(
even with a good supportive pillow between your legs?
you are a tough cookie, mrp!
argh mrP, that is rotten :(
good for you to let him stew, rubyfoo. (note the poetry here)
tried everything to change position... not working
singing along
I know about not being able to find any comfortable position, mrP. Makes sleeping almost impossible. I hope it will get better soon for you.
sprite..was just looking at the icon themes my bday is dec 15
ah let me see to that right away
ok carlee :D I added you, lovely.
:)
anything special you would like to see on that day?
purple :p
ok!
( always been my favourite colour since i was very small...never changes and makes me smile )
I am wearing purple today in your honor, then, hahah
very good! Purple it is, in your honor.
hehehe kind of snap, rubyfoo :)
heheheh funny :)
carlee would love my garden -- all shades of purple, blue, red, calmon and pink -- and the asters are all over the place
salmon! calmon sounds like a tranquilizer
nice... ruby....take a look at mobile uploads on my fb..my mum's garden is in there...
( I read salmon..no worries)
woot, mrP, just reading your blurp and I see the good news! Not that micro fractures are much fun, but much better than the alternative diagnosis.
thanks sprite! indeed it is!
salmon. Smoked salmon. God I'd kill for some smoked salmon right now.
I prefer herring, must have been Dutch in a former life!
and eels, love eels
herring is good too, raw.
not a huge smoked salmon fan...
mouth is watering
eels used to be lovely. But I don't fancy them much anymore, the taste is not what it used to be.
cant say i have had eels
I've had them in sushi (both kinds) and in Brussels
I am not much of a fish fan. But smoked or raw goes a long way with me, lol.
from what I read, they are much less plentiful now in the Netherlands
I don't like cooked fish either, except when my mother used to cook fresh-caught fish my father brought home
yes, I think that is true. They are insanely expensive and not half as tasty as, say, 20 years ago.
my dad had a lovely way of frying salmon... hmmm..i need to make salmon...
there are a few things you can wake me up for in the middle of the night. Crackers with smoked salmon is one of them.
crackers in bed?
if need be, I'll eat them in bed. As long as they have smoked salmon on top.
hehehe...funny sprite
Scottish smoked salmon....oh yay
hello everyone
yummy Kallia
hello kaia
hi kall
how are you all? not been around for a while
kalia must get local salmon!
am ok, still hanging in there and not giving up. And how are you?
my BIL sends it too us...don't live in Scotland Ruby :)
sends lemon sole too...in iced boxes
i am juggling far too many things...as per usual....but for once is a bunch of good things
lovely -- we can't get decent seafood here
I believe we have a greek fish dish coming up on the menu this week.
glad that the juggling is good things Carlee...makes it easier
how is your husband Ruby?
I was whining about him before, as perusual!
we are having smoked salmon pasta this evening
yum
can I come over for dinner tonight then, Kallia?
really really easy.......cook pasta, drain, add a top of Creme Fraiche and lots of pepper and chopped up smoked salmon.....melt the creme fraiche and eat!
sure you can Sprite :)
:D
that should read tub.....not top
had smoked salmon stack last night... having chicken schnitzel tonight
will eat and be back later :)
who is doing the cooking, mrp?
we have a similar dish we all love. Iceberg lettice, pasta, smoked salmon snippets and sweet peppers baked with a lot of black pepper.
enjoy, mrP
i will be asleep again when u return mrp..so...enjoy
I am not that keen on chicken...doesn't seem to have much taste so usually do it with a sauce of some sort
enjoy Mr P
that sounds interesting Sprite...do you cook the lettuce? doesn't it go limp?
I like chicken. Smoked chicken is good too. But most chicken you buy in shops tastes like nothing anymore.
no, don't cook the lettuce. Just chop it, put a layer on a plate, put the hot pasta over it, then add the sweet peppers and the salmon.
we get "farmer chickens" and they are very tasty
ah, that makes more sense...I shall try that sometime
maybe they actually eat insects!
yes, sometimes we get some from a farmer and it makes all the difference
even our 'organic' chickens aren't that brilliant, and they are expensive!
we like the combination of lettuce and pasta very much. And it is easy!
sometimes I cook lettuce with confit de gesier (conserved chicken gizzards) and then do a reduction with balsamic vingar. Sounds disgusting, but is realy quite good
lettuce here tastes like..nothing...
it does sound pretty vile Ruby, think I will take your word for it tasting good!
I'm all for easy cooking! One pot, slow cooker, anything that takes 10 mins lol
unfortunately, I like very bland food
same for me, Kallia
day to day cooking is a bit of a bind to me....love cooking for company thouygh
its having to think what to cook, and then having to stop whatever to do it!
am very similar in that regard, Kallia. If I can take the time and pick out nice recipes, I like to cook. But the daily cooking.... blech.
that is what is nice here kallia...we all have the "old stand bys" but al of our standbys are something new and different for others
at least husband will eat the same thing over and over, so I'll make him a big dish, e.g. "spicy chicken and pasta", and then he eats it for 3 or 4 days
yep, just interferes with my life lol
and we don't eat the same food
lol yes!
I eat simple, bland food
there u go sprite..a new icon theme.. post a pic of your most popular " go to recipe" and put the recipe in your profile
I can't imagine always cooking 2 meals, rubyfoo.
the dogs eat the best
I really couldn't bear to cook different foods ruby
3, if you figure the time I spend cooking for the pups
one meal to think about is enough!
i did for almost 20 years
why Carlee?
don't have a choice, but after the initial big cooking, I just have to re-heat portions for him
great one, carlee, we will try that again. Groovy once offered to make us a babble recipe website. But nobody but me was sending here any recipe.
dxh only liked meat and potatoes...
I am adopting a dog next weekend....from Glant
I used to do a lot of elaborate cooking for company, but not any more
you should have made him cook his own !
but I don't think I will be cooking for him!
rubyfoo and I are gonna cook a virtual indian meal
i wanted to and offered to do so for mr. god..but he said the new babble willhave a recipe spot
what kind of dog, kalia?
yes!!!
dr. god * even
oh that is great!
he's a Cypriot Poodle
how big?
that new babble doesn't seem to come along much, does it
am happy for you, Kallia.
this babble suits me fine!
was just thinking that sprite...a flurry of activity then it all went quiet
same ruby
now..i dont have time to do the recipe thing
curly, like other poodles? much less mess than my long-haired chows
am happy with babble too
actually doesn't look much like a poodle...let me find a pic
have you chosen a name for the pup?
ok..am yawning..i think i can go back to sleep and i am past 1/2 way
happy with THIS babble too
back laters people
bye carlee, sleep well, dream nice and not too good ;)
bye carlee
I have to go make lunch for husband. I won't eat
105 words so far. {{everybody}}
you must eat, rubyfoo, if you don't take care of you8rself, things will fall apart
I eat a good breakfast but can't see sitting with Mr. Sullen-face!
he is 6 years old, and his name is Muttley
very cute name
if muttley comes from Glant, he must be a well-raised dog.
cant seem to link...if you search Cyprus Poodle you will find lots of images
I call Ruby "Poopy" (affectionately, of course, and the temp housekeeper thought that was here name (didn't know poopy as she is French).
oh yes, he is lovely, I wanted to take him home ages ago lol
I will look for your poodle after lunch, kalia
awwww I love them! Much nicer than a normal poodle, lovely.
*poof*
hopefully, as smart!
we have the same endearment in dutch, poepie.
they are lovely indeed :)
ok, got to go pack the caravan....off for a few days to Kent, and some National trust exploring.
think I will come for dinner and then join you for the trip :)
have a lovely time, Kallia!
LOL...you'd be welcome Sprite :) ok really gone now:)
:)
fireflies! Very nice puzzle, and I enjoyed the company at least as much. *hugs* to you all and have a grand day / night
any clues for the re8,50 please
If you make a triangle, you make a sh5/14. re8/50 is one who does that again.
thanx
hello, back after lunch with mr. sullen-puss
Oh that sounds pleasant...not. Hi Ruby.
{{molly}} ty for the nice clue, 8's whacked
phantom: asters, but my garden is full of them; they self-sow
big lag when entering words. Anybody else?
So far so good Ruby. Might just be your server waking up.
I'll try refreshing
that worked!
Good

morning...big storm last night..have no electricity
so sorry, phae, but could you please send a bit of a storm our way -- drought worsening . . .
so dry, ground heaving up spring bulbs -- chipmunks and squirrels doing happy dance . . .
BRB -- need coffee refill . . .
watching the depression in the gulf, according to the tracks, you might get it or it might hit Mars!
good morning/afternoon everyone...must make some coffee
good morning everyone. 97 degrees to begin September here in Northern Kentucky *sigh
morning, (((Mom))) that is hot! Indian summer
mornin all!
(((Annie))), good morning. It has been warm all week but not this warm
Hi EvaN...
Eva, good morning. Haven't seen you in ages. How have you been?
Eva, were you badly affected by the hurricane
good morning everyone:)
good morning ((Crossy))
((MOM))
gosh, been busy, Mom. dont get to hover on the chog as often as i used to, but i do usually pop in a few times a day. ;)
would try Une, but it's gone already...looks like no E til this evening
annie, no damage to us at all -- didnt even lose power. honestly, we have had non-hurricane rainstorms come through and do worse. my parents do have a leak in their roof, but for living on the waterfront, they are lucky thats it!
I am so glad I happened to be here when you popped on. I have missed seeing yo
hi crossy and phae

aww, thanks Mom. :)
Good Morning Everyone
un4/6, peri
and the gangs all here....
(((River)))) good morning
well,guess you could by a generator :)
ty Bzz
hello bzzz
howdy riverdance:)
hi River, nice to be part of this gang
Hi River and Bea
Morning, all.
It sure is peri
thanks Bzzz
I cannot think of a nicer group of people than Babblers
neither can I, Annie.
:) now where was i? oh yea! dirty limericks with the morning tea! lol jk
:)
lol crossy
River, is your daughter selttled in?
yes she is...and loving it....she has forgotten about Mom though *sniffles*
was afraid the smoke from N.O. would scare a way the hummingbirds, but looks like a beehive outside - time to move eveything out!
oh yes,she is in college now eh? no crying jags, rattling round the empty house, into the cooking sherry at 11 am?
dirty limericks ..... haven't heard any of those in a long time
:-)
(((River))) that is wonderful...she adjusted well
waiting patiently crossy for those limericks
after ma tea river
(((River))) she will never forget her mom. You must move to the back burner.
I wasnt worried about that....she is not the homesick type of kid and is very sociable
*just not must
no,i mean you into the cooking sherry, not her
I know Mom...hard to cut the umbilical
after tea? I will be gone by then
yup,she is cordless now:)
and with Keith back to school and playing soccer, the house is way too quiet
they are never completely cordless
she call/text me when she needs money I am sure..lol
I bought a magnet when ours moved out. ..... Money doesn't buy happiness but it sure keeps the kids in touch
well once a month you can look forward to a rental truck full of laundry
she has been doing her own laundry for about a year...I trained her well
we will always be their safe place to fall Heck mine didn't even bring laundry home
and laundry room is right down the hall from her dorm room...she has it made
i am laundry training my17 year old boy now
all the best to her, River
thats good crossy - I need to start working on my 14 year old...he is the one that changes several times a day
how is your husband handling all of this?
my goofy hubby still takes laundry when we visit his mom, even if I do it the day before
lol Shdy.
he is fine with it all - hasnt said a word
wow, River. Men are so strange that way. Could just kick 'em
well, the 14 year old is gonna learn fast that if he wears 3 shirts and 4 pants a day,he will have an extra load to do lol
I need to go...work is screaming at me....crazy week getting through all these storm claims
:-) although now my sweetie will say he needs a "shay" or "alex" fix
Shdy, I think it is because they want their moms to feel needed. Hubs takes shirts that need buttons even though I am perfectly capable of sewing them.
take care ((River))
bye river, have a great day
i have never bought my mil so much as a sock
true, crossy, kind of the same as dishes - if you have to wash them you can cook Thanksgiving dinner in one pan!
its school clothes, soccer stuff then bang around clothes....never ending
must go - poof
I think you're right, bzzz, although the mom has tons of grandkids and what not, I just have one big kid!
indeed shdy,my kid love to get a fresh glass for every dring,so 6 water in a day= 6 glasses and a full sink
yep, crossy, i think your kid lives in my house!
hmmm almost 8, need to move the electronics outside then get to work. Have a great day, all!
bye, shdy...
you as well Shdy.
durn. missed shady and river. *big grin* hello everyone else!
I couldn't sleep...
hi Stid, then if you cant sleep, best place to be
up early stid...
mcurl, I was having nightmares anyway. will take a nap this afternoon and it will be fine.
perhaps that was my problem....up at 3:30! never did get back to sleep. First day of school today so I'll head out here soon.
hello friends.
I am taking the younger kid shopping this morning - outlet stores in Centralia first, then Oly and lunch, then home to do some "deep cleaning" -- he will clean, I will nap... and then work on the office area. I want to move the old computer desk out to make room for additional workbench and storage space.
hey trifioso!
hi trif :)
wow. I hope you'll have a wonderful day!
hello. still enjoyig the wonder of water and power after four days without
glad it's back trifioso -- have done that before. not fun.
my day is a bit less---class starts at 8:25 (I get there at 6:30 to be productive) New schedule with my one on one which may not be in tune with his behavior; print shop; volunterr in 3rd/4th split room and home maybe 4:00!
at least it wasn't in the middle of winter, I suppose. but not much time to get things set right before winter.
same one on one as before?
yes; but sped teacher is grades 2-5 and has 35 kids on IEPs!
I am still half considering getting work as a para this year, but Tom thinks my original plan (subbing and applying for long-term subs midyear) is going to be a better way
budget cuts got us bad---we are short a 3rd grade teacher and a 5th grade (class sizes are 30-32), down 1 sped teacher and
oh dear, that is really a lot to work with. At least she has you (and presumably a couple other good paras) to help! I don't know what I would have done in student teaching without the one-on-one who stepped up and helped some of the other kids who needed it! She is worth her weight in gold.
Believe me, if you were to put your information down here in our district you would be kept plenty busy
para help will consist only of reading support 30 min per day
I'll consider it. If I take the cut-off to Hwy 8 it shouldn't take too long to get there.
budget cuts got a lot of districts... and that debacle in Tacoma with the contracts. At least the kids start on time, but that uncertainty is so bad for everyone.
it's about 20-25 min I think. Drive it so often I never think about it any more. The majority of our staff commutes from Oly. I'm sure I could hook you up with a car pool. (my Miss Garrett lives on west side)
I'll go take a look online right now. I have about 15 minutes of battery power left.
awesome! Gotta go. have a great day babblers!!!
see you soon! can't wait to hear how it went!
will catch you up this evening ((((off)))
hi again, all!
good to see trif, even if she is gone again - glad the power is back!!
howdy sue:) big storm coming through atm,so if crossy vanishes you will all know what happened:(
Im still here!
and crossy, I hope you have a okay storm ride
cool! hail!..
does hail mean tornado where you are, dear one?
power flickering,i best shut down tc alll..poink
ok, take care, crossy!!
hi, trif! good to see you again!
thank you uusue. I miss my laptop so much! my babble time has been seriously impacted
I hate when that happens :-)
right now, though, my babble time is being impacted by work - gotta go. See you later!
tc
I can't believe that the Star Trek weapon of choice is not an accepted word!
storm is passing and crossy is back:)
Hi all
good morning all
Hi teach
howdy boo and teach, thought i was all alone
Hi Crossy. How are you
we're here - eating breakfast while trying to find words - had our thunderstorm about 2 hours ago - just sdtarting to rain again
not too bad boo,and how are you this rainy day?
we had our storm 1 hr ago
Did everyone weather the hurricane ok. We got some of the winds here and rain but it wasn't bad.
No rain here but I am fine
some babblers still have no power and there are some flooding issues for some
nothing here from the hurricane
i am too far north and east to even be bothered by it,but some of my east coast newfie friends got a soaking
right now it has gotten really dark outside - don't know what we are about to get
ohh just found a real nice au 7 word:)
and an au 8 to go with it
to be serius and more so
serious
thnx crossy - now have NBT and NBS
np:)
Having trouble finding an words

Good Morning Everybody. It's a beautiful day here (but will be very hot and humid this afternoon)
morning nef and yes is supposed to feel like 40 C here by tomorrow ( woohoo!!!)
Hi Nef

ty teach
It is in the 70's here
yw crossy
warmer here
oh man..sneezing fit..makin gmy piano ring
this has been the nicest summer since I have lived here
40 C is well over 100 F btw..not there yet mind but is what we are expecting
How is everybody doing today? I just sent DH off to the state fair (by himself!); and am now hoping I can finish a grid for a change! :-D
a beautiful 18 c here(64 in american)
hi everyone
howdy lbd
supposed to have rain on and off for this long weekend - and be up in the 90s for Friday and Saturday
Hi lbd
40C =104F; time for blood cultures and Tylenol! (In nursing experience, anyway!)
hi lbd
its 76F atm..expecting high of 87 plus humidity
did u get a storm over night crossy?
Hi
our storm came though about hour and half ago
hi herin
How you all going?
howdy herin
anus
POO and bum sorry guys
we had one about 3 am ish apparently
I'm feeling more relaxed today than I have in the past month; only Aunty and myself here and she's sleeping! :-)
hi herin
i slept through it
plural it for a 6 herin <snort>
Wow. Seems I last not even a minute and I wind up in the penalty box
How the hell can you have 2 of them?
its a poopy place to be herin
you can have more than 2 of them in one room when your with a bunch of jerks, herin
perhaps when one has a number of cadavers and they remove them all and line them up in a row??? ( sorry for the grossness...but its the only way i can envisage more than one)
Well our toilet crapped out tonight so I gues that word is apropriate
and spell it a tad differenty and pl it as well
crappy when the crapper craps
Our land lord decided to fix the toilet himself. He did put the right nails in the back of the toilet so being ceramic it is weighing on the water pipe. He also secured that pipe with a plug that was too small. SO tonight the back bit just sploded
what a bad thing to happen, herin. Did you get it fixed yet?
ugh...
YUK!!!
Nope as it was 10:20pm. We fixed it with duct tape and a towel
ok..i gotta run...i have to finish fluffing my duff so I can take mum back her car ( this no vehicle thing SUCKS!)
it should not weigh on the pipe, the stink pipe should be flush with the floor and the bottom of the toilet should mate with it in such a way that when fastened down the load of the toilet is held by the floor
Duct tape solves every thing
Loves Carlee.
the water flex hose should be long enough that it does not pull as well
bye carlee! HAGD!
crossy can change a toilet in his sleep:9
It isn't the flex hose it is the actual pipe that runs from the cistern to the toliet
lol there are places that still use cisterns...
The trady that rang me was a rude asshole and I had to pass the phone to the other half before I told him were to stick the phone
( Unless its ike mine crossy...my stink pipe was not..and i had to power drill a special phlange on it before the toilet would set properly ( old lead pipe)
Huggles herin
we forget that here, with water everywhere we take it for granted sometimes
that can happen carlee
That is the word. You have the cistern then the pipe then a phlange holding it together that goes into the loo
- this was why my toilet was not "sealed properly to begin with as no one BOTHERED to put the special phlange on i the stink pipe
which was why....i had sewage leaking between the floor and the toilet itself ( yay..NOT)
are you talking about the toilet tank itself herin?
Nope
ok then an actual cistern
The cistern is on the wall. Then there is a pipe from there to the loo
anyway... toodles....duff fluffin time *poof*
been decades since i have seen one
saw one in a english movie 20 years ago lol
Ok
Sorry
But seriously it wasn't even stuck into the studs in the wall and I wonder if the plumber is actually going to do that
And the tradie as soon as he got hold of me he did the whole : Well ahve you turned off the water.
sigh..he made it more difficult than it has to be
a nice modern toilet with a low flow 2 gallon flush bowl and tank and yer good to go
80 dollars here,4 dollars for wax seal,2 dollars for bolts to fasten to stink pipe and yer done
5 dollars for cold water flex hose
time=15 min to get old one out and new one in
wish i was there for ya herin
The bolts have to be studded properly as the cistern is heavy. Which he hasn't done. So his tight ass job is going to cost him more than he would have spent if he had done it right to begin with. I was right again. I swear most men just think women have a brain cell and a half when it comes to plumbing and cars
that old toilet is going to coist him more
Clue for ap 4/10 please
what is the fixation for keeping the antique crapper? get it out of there and save water
It isn't antique. It is new
boo, ap 4/10 uses the high tile
I am just passing thru...see you all later
cause a wall haning cistern is from the 20,s here
howdy annie
it took me 1 1/3 hours because DH tightened the screw on the base of the water tanl too tight and cracked it. I had to buy a new water tank for it.
Hi crossy :)
right on time annie we were just talking toilets;))
Hi Nef..enjoying some time to yourself, I was glad to read that
Crossie: http://tinyurl.com/3pwua2d
Ty Annie
I think that herin is calling the water tank of a modern toilet a cistern?
The cistern is like this one on the wall with the L shaped bend pipe. The pipe connected to the loo is broken
HI Annie
yup as i thought from the 20,we no longer use that style at all herin
Yes
here the tank mounts flush with the actual bowl and rubber grommets are used at the fasten points
aand a rubber flange seals the bowl to the tank
hi herin and I am off to do errands
and the rubber grommets have a screw that you tighten to make it sit right and THAT is what DH over-tightened!
that is so true nef!!
Hi Annie! And thanks!
finger tight + 1/4 turn!!
It is modern twin flush. He refused to replace the guts of the old cistern. Which would have been easier. As he has done it now I personally would rip the whole lot out and replace with a full system - toilet
indeed, those were phased out here for a reason lol
Do you have twin flush
let me show you our moden versions
www.ca.kohler.com
the white one and there is a low profile version
all one pieces,clean,slim line
Our land lord is a tight wad
Our old one was like that
It was the same as what we have now but plastic and 2 piece
we went from a old 8 gallon flush to a 2 gallon flush and save 100 dollars on water bill each hear,so your landlord is only hurting himself
I told him that my sister works for a plumbing place and it would be cheaper to get a plumber in than fix it yourself. I did ask her this as I hate hassel
well then your sis know the right toilet for you
they even have some very interesting euro toilets with sinks built into the tank top for tight places
it saves all your water from hand washing for the next flush
She is pretty good.
Interesting
they are
Personally that bathroom would be gutted retiled and rejigged with roof top ducts
Just seen the unit you mean Crossie. By Caroma good brand
hello everybody, 121 words earlier
Hi RUby

{{crossy}}
((RUBY))
i have but 70 so far ruby:(
hello ruby

and must leave for a dr appt in 1 hours so you win today.what is my ladies favor for the day,a pretty hand fan or a flower for your hair? perhaps a killer martini? lol
hello wvteach!
and nef, if you're still here
haha
I'm here ruby :-P She's finishing eating breakfast right now
rainy day here all morning - glad i don't have to go out until this evening
HI Wv
we've been lucky, most of our storms happen at night and then it's gorgeous in the daytime
hi herin
59 left but I think they're impossible
69 left here
all I see now are phantoms or words I already have
omg - I have just finished teaching in what has to be the hottest classroom on campus. I don't know how hot it was but my office is 80F and it was a lot hotter than that. I am now sitting with my fan blowing on me at full speed.
and hi! :-)
poor sue:( crossy makes sue his famouse long island iced tea
that is horrible, sue! how did you stay awake?
I was standing up and talking, so I was ok - some of the students were getting a little drowsy, though
and thanks for the iced tea, crossy, it is much appreciated!
when I went to Queens, they used to keep the heat on into June if they hadn't used up their fuel allotment, for fear it would be cut the next year
lol,we had the opposite.in winter the classes were 10 degrees above what the outside was at the time, and you would not be at al suprised to see a scrim of ice forming in your water bottle!
stupid volcano
lol,no one had constipation.just a quick contact on those ice cold seat and you were done in 45 seconds lol..back to toilets again..mmm
Yep must be a poo no
night
night, herin!
Not going
Hi Unie
and this is just a really old building, so impossible to keep comfortable
oh, good! Glad you are still here!
our cats nicknane is "poopers" cause she goes about 6 times a day
I call Ruby poopy girl
It is a tad late but I seem to be flying through
(and Max, poopy boy) -- very imaginative
Any way I don't think I have a bed tonight> Cat has probably taken over it
good night
ok, I won't say good night until I am sure you are actually leaving, ruby, although I wish you a good night even if you stay here with us :-)
ok,must be off to appt,tc all and happy babbling..poink
Later Cross
bye, crossy!
wow I am finding half awake thinking is working
It means you think more uninhibitedly, I think, herin
Yep
Not thinking helps with non words
OK, like it wasn't hot enough already, this message just came through my work email: At the request of ComEd NIU has been requested to power-down certain services today (Thursday Sept. 1) between the hours of 2:00 and 3:00 pm. The Physical Plant will be taking A/C and fans offline for that time period.
Aargh!!! I am going to go stick my head in a fountain.
O well at least you have power
True, and they can't turn of my own personal fan
*off
Vermont farmers are needing help as they have no power to milk cows
oh, gosh, they need a lot more help than that, too, I have been reading about how a lot of the crops are either underwater or have been flattened by the floods
The cows are really important as they have to be milked other wise they get really sick
modern corn-harvesting machines don't work on horizontal corn so they don't know how they are going to get the crop in, even if the plants have survived
<--- would go help milk cows if they weren't 1000 miles away
I hadn't heard about the cows, though, herin, that is really tough.
Well it is back to picking then isn't it if they can find the people to get in
No power or generators mean milkers get mastis
Ouch. That statement will make any woman who has been overdue for breast feeding her infant remember the ache.
ah, yes, I remember getting that myself back in the day, not fun, and a whole lot worse for the cows. I hope they get power back soon, or else get a whole lot of workers!
Problem is people are willing to help but the only way in is either walk or chopper
or back roads or maybe horses
just saw that car.eeyore has her power back! Yay!
Hi Molly
oh, right, hi, molly!!
I'm reading a lot of good will stories about people pitching in to help during all the difficulties this storm has caused. It's renewing my faith in the good nature of folks.
Hey Herin
Hi Sue
People are wanting to help but the issue is getting there to do it.
yeah, they're going to need a lot of good will if the govt decides that they can't help without cutting the money out of the budget someplace else
Imagine riding a horse to help pick corn and milk cows. What a ride back in time. I think it would be fun.
In times like this you have to think outside the box really
I wonder if they could get local school kids to help out? I don't think schools are in session...
I wonder if anybody remembers how to hand milk and who has the time anyway?
Once again though the roads are shod and people are trying to get their own crap in order
howdy
HI Hoot.
hi, hoot!
probably don't have any school
Hoot cow milking is a skill learned. Even if they have to dump the milk unto the ground.
Hi Hoot. And if there is no help, and these crops and the milking cows go to hell, we will pay for that at the grocery store.
hi herin - long time sue i see every day
Yes I should be in bed
I know - I learned it back in the late 50's!
hi moolly - definitely
sorry @!!! Molly
Funny thing I can feel my fingers doing it but I don't know that I still have the strength!
My friends were discussing slaughtering a cow for food over dinner the other night. I had to ask them to stop talking. I would be in the kitchen making the pie and they would be doing the gross stuff
It's not pleasant but it is necessary
But where did they expect to get the cow?
They live on a farm and my b.f can butcher. I at least admit it is gross
hi again...
Hi Carlee.
Hoot they live on a farm and there is yearlings about and lots of wild dogs. One could just disappear
Well it is gross but necessary if you want to eat.
hi herin
hi carlee
I admit that I can't do it.
honestly ..i want to try hunting...
for food not sport
and i want to learn to butcher
( not in a sarah palin go get 'em sportsman way..just..so i know i COULD do it if i had to )
Well it was another thing I learned back then but I now confine it to taking apart ther louy meat we get from the stores!
Well I could give lesson if you were a leetle bit closer!
I cried when I used to catch and eat fish
the lusy
i had to put down mice and i cried....
I can't type today to save my life!
I cried when the cat killed a wild mouse the other week
mice don't bother me
but when it comes to the circle of llife thing... i can deal...
hi, carlee!
Heck as a kid I bawled over killing a mother spider and her babbies
and I think if I had to butcher my own food, I would mostly eat vegetables (and maybe fish)
But there are some squirrels I am ready to personally kick into tomorrow!
i dont think i could wring a chickens neck..to actually feel life leave a body... but...to hunt with rifle..i think i could do it
You are too soft herin. Not a crime
hi sue!!!
Yep. I am and at least I admit it.
:) hearin
herin* even..sheesh...
We had chicken and never wrung their necks! Used a hetchet!
( and carlee loves venison and she loves moose meat )
I heard that holding them upside down and putting them in a pipe is really quick
that's a hatchet
i couldnt do that either hoot... mind i could tell u all a very crude but very funny story about my dxh when he worked at the turkey farm here
( I read hatchet hoot)
Hi everyone! Power is FINALLY back on!
the pipe is just to keep them from moving while you cut their throats
SO did I Hoot
WOOHOO for car.ee!!!!!!
hi car - great!
ok
But the device that these farmers had was really friendly and harm free to the chicken and damn quick way to go. Especially with too many roosters
( did u lose much food hun? )
it's more of a cone. We had them at school
soooooooooo relieved!
HI Carlee. You back?
Not too much food. Didn't have that much stored up in the fridge or freezer.
Hi Herin!
yay, car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good to see you again!!
Hoot it was a fascinating show about this man that went back to proper farming. Catching and cooking his own food
I believe that - we didn't have pwer for 2 weeks when the spring storms came thru!
Hi Sue!
with the kids and mom...I really was at my wits end.
show on where
i'm still without power... walked into my office today for the first time (back to school for staff) and turned on the light and kind of forgot how it works!
Wow I went barking mad after 2 days of no power
Oh Dorens!!!! I am so sorry.
Oh Dorens - Jersey did get hit hard and morethan once too!
it's certainly inconvenient... but it could have been so much worse. no flooding at least
I keep saying that Dorens. Yes, pain in the buttinski, but it could have been so much worse. Poor Vermont for instance.
Well according to our news only NY mattered which really issed me off
Well upstate did get clobbered but not as bad as Vermont
I have been keeping up to date on Vermont on WCAX on FB
maybe your news says NY meaning the NY metropolitan area? NJ and CT got it much worse actually.... but some places lump us in with NY, which is sort of understandable
I have never seen Manhatten hit by a hurricane! They usually, and were expected to, veer right and go thru Long Island
hi, dorens, sorry you are still without power! (my dad was fine, btw)
glad for that sue
If you read the comments on yahoonews you'd think the east coast was a separate planet.
I swear you would think I was an inbred hick without FB and Twitter and YAhoo news and google news and la times
Please - they kept saing New york City when they were talking about Manhatten, Stupidity all around!
don't be silly herin
I try to keep up on international news because our paper is a tad crap
You haven't seen mine.
My internet connection is very weak, so I am going to scoot. Must clean the fridge & freezer anyway to be restocked. Nice to see you all! BBL!
no herin, i am not suggesting that you are a hick. you are a very savvy lady, I know that... just thought that maybe the news talks about ny
And i do not twitter or fb or any of that stuff. I waste enough time here:D
I think around the time of the Japan Tsunami one of our papers had frount page news about a sports person getting up to mischieve
I just hope to God that Hurricane Katia does it's thing over the ocean and stays away from the US East Coast.
bye car
No I meant taht personally - from my own personal point of view. I would come across as very ignorant if I didn't have the internet
oh lordy no - just more ammo for the idiots on the comments!
Doren our news only said NY got wet that was about it
Please - no matter what happens in the world - our frontpage will be about the football, baseball or basketball game!
well somewhat true about Manhatten - they did get a little flooding but not as much as they prepared for. Upstate got clobbered though
got to run.. meeting starting... ws hoping to get this grid done... sorry i started now, cause i don't know if i'll have time to finish.. see you tomorrow
Sounds like ours Hoot. Japan had that small earthquake thing that made people get wet, Hurrican Irene made NY wet and O what was that OMG shock horror AFL footballers are being paid not enough. Makes me sick
bye Dorens - good luck
Blessings Dorren
yep!
small earthquake think???
Is that what they called it or did they just ignore it?
No it was about 3 days after. On the first day I found out more news via Twitter and FB
Ok - I also like to do Google news. It's mostly from BBC and therefore less spin!
twitter is where i go for news now
FB for me and Twitter for quick looks and links
Well I don't do them so I do what I can. I have links to a number of diff newspapers too
Me too. I use NY and LA times and a Boston paper
Prefer reading over a talking head. They usually have their own agenda and add spin
I subscribe to a lot of blogs and get a lot of news there, also read news online and FB - Yahoo, BBC, Chicago and Boston newspapers (get email alerts from them)
I have read a few blogs but they too usually have an agenda, But they can be starting points
ok..am off to do my fluff reading before i have to hit the books in a week... ( want to re-read all the twilight series its suitably "fluffy" literature)
This is sooooooooo slow - lunchtime and they are in full cry!
I also read a GLBT paper for unbias news
have fun, Not my cup of tea
what's that herin
Have fun Carlee.
Gay Lesbian Bi Transgender Newspaper they do a fairly good job reporting issues
i just want brain dead reading hoot....cus i will be told what to read for the next 8 months...
Didn't even know there was such a thing. Is it available here?
visited the Twilight setting this past summer - had never heard of the books untill then
ok carlee - enjoy
what setting?
setting of the Twilight books
Yes - It is called Out and About Hoot
where is it?
a good thriller I read recently: Adrenaline by Jeff Abbott
.com or .org
hi Une
hey, hoot et al :-)
I've been so busy I have about 6 started books on my nighttable and about 100 to go!
just zipping by -- taking a friend to lunch for her bday
Thanks for the recommendation Une. I like thrillers.
later, all!! *poof*
well have fun
me too, Molly!!
Une would you stop having so many cute puppies. I am dying from cute overload
http://www.outandaboutnewspaper.com/
Hoot I'm the same way. I don't have much time to read, so it takes me a lot longer to finish a book than it used to.
I can't say if the adverts wont be M rated.
any pt words in this one?
herin, I transport rescue dogs every week . . . and they're ALL sooooo cute!!
Good onyou uni. Those pups are supper cute
Sunday I'm transporting a very pregnant beagle named Tinker -- am taking a big basket and a stack of towels "just in case" LOL!
I don't think so KJE.
ty
Dawwwww puppy
*Imagines Une delivering puppies by the side of the road*
kje, are you near the fires in TX that I keep seeing on the news??
got iy herin I'll give it a shot. Can't be aby more abrasive than some of the comments I read!
Molly, please please don't let that happen LOL!
some of the blogs I subscribe to are from Scientific American and the US Geologic Survey - they are particularly good on science topics
I read it because I am interested in human rights.
those are out west, une... there are burn bans everywhere though due to teh drought
oh, ok . . . glad you're ok . . . looks horrible . . . and no rain in sight, right?
I am signed up with Space.com
bad drought here too but no fires . . .yet
hope the tourists in the Smokey Mtns are careful with anything that could start a fire . . .
no real rain... we have had a few short showers in the last 2 weeks, but nothing of value
they are good, hoot, there is also a blog called Starts With A Bang that has really good astronomy information
Well I'm signed up with a lot of things but I can't get to them often. Actually gave up on some awile ago and deleted them.
the fires in austin were started when a homeless man lit a campfire
ok, gotta run -- byeee *poof*
glad to hear you are ok, une and kje
I pretend they are work-related which is my excuse for reading them during the day, hoot :-)
and how f'ed up are we? they pla to prosecute him for arson... even though they know he didn't set in on purpose
on the other hand, he is no longer homeless
Well here in Memphis we have clear air about 3 days a year. It's never when there is a meteor shower though.
here either, hoot
My answer is pretty f'd up KJE.
yep... it is an f'd up world
in fact we have a problem with the university observatory - it is open two nights a week but sometimes we get to the end of the semester and almost none of those nights have been clear
What are they going to do to him kje? Throw him into prison? Then he wont be homeless
The legal system in particular.
How was the homeless man to know of the fire bans?
i have 28 left... will take a break and see if i ca get further with fresh eyes before i list
and how dare he want cooked food? :-P
herin - no comment... just a crazy world
Well you aren't really that far from me are you? So you probably get the same weather.
I have no knowledge of this fire. But if it was in a Nat park isn't it the rangers job to go ear bash campers?
my stomach is growling... i must hunt and gather
it was in an empty house in a neighborhood... caused quite a fire and loss of property
I'm doing more talking then searching. BF just got home 2 hrs early. So I'm gonna say byebye for now. It has definitely been an interesting morning!
Can someone please clue me a TR 6 please
SO are they going to go prosecute someone else if their house causes the same amount of damage/
tr+vowel_ what you cook in - bye
never mind I found the word
Done and done. Night all
yay, herin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

hi sue! ((hugs))
hi teach :))
Hi again. I just took off 40-50 dry cleaner bags from Aunt Jeans clothes; each bag had at least 4 or more items in it hanging up. (These are from the fire restoration company after the fire). The sad thing is she's lost so much weight none of these will fit her anymore!
have fun sue... interviews ah!

LOL !! had 5 hours of sleep, just can't do the full 8 like I would prefer
she's just skin, bones and wrinkles now; 93 lbs today
(She weighed 130 in March)

tee hee
and hi again all, back from the interview, AC is scheduled to go off in 12 minutes and it is 88F outside. Sigh.
poor Sue :-((
oooo. This grid looks hard.
the whole university is getting its AC turned off, hego, the utilities must be really stressed by the heat
It's September here Sue.
Finally!
Are there words in here?!!
yeah, here too, hego, but they are predicting a high of 95 today, and 92 tomorrow, with high humidity.
After that it is supposed to cool off.
No I meant REALLY Sept. 80 and dry.
I have 65 words, hego, only some of which are strange :-)
tx Sue, I'm just starting.
oh, you mean like your weather realizes it's September? Must be nice :-)
I have vowel-a-phobia
Yup
Ah! I see a word that brings to mind my recent colonoscopy. lol
it's the e words that are giving me fits.
btw, don't forget the plural of your word :-)
Oh, yes! A's and e's are my nemesis
oh! ty
funny hego... i had one yesterday and the word recti was there
lol Hi Dorens
Isn't it great when it's over?
particularly since the power went out in Morristown in the middle of it, but the emergency generator let them continue.... then all subsequent procedures were cancelled.... can you imagine?
Oh, poor people!
Hmm...two Babblers have colonoscopys on back to back days, and on those same days "recti" and the an words are in the grid. Kind of makes you wonder. : )
z
To be cancelled after all that!
LOLOL Molly
i still have no electricity, so i had a battery operated lantern set up in my bathroom.... very romantic
Shhhh. Inge sleeping.
i think she has no idea..... using lickety's babble expert can do that if you go quickly.
I know, Dorens
(have done it once or twice myself)
hego, was your colonoscopy a good one?
Dorens, of all the power outage stories, those poor people whose colonoscopys were cancelled, well their stories rate right up at the top. How horrible for them.
The results were good
ty Snags
I agree Molly
that was the word I was looking for, result...... thats great to hear.
I was worried about that. You bet.
they told me i am the lucky one, and i didn't know what they meant... totally unaware of the power outage.
I'd s**. lol
they were certainly some very unhappy folks
I Am monkeying my brains out today.

Hi Stiddy
Hello, stid
we are setting up my ipad (for a cheaper device to take along when subbing) and then I am heading to Mother's for a bit.
say hi
BR -- did you notice that all the disasters this past week were NOT in your neck fo the woods? for a change...
BR do you have the te 6 7 combo
yes, I did
Br has a good luck charm.
maybe your luck is turning! *gets ready to celebrate nice weather in the midsection*
now if we can just push the bad news a little further off the East coast...
sorry hego, I don't have that one. yet. BUT I am down to 69, which is a lot further than I expected to be!
Hello everybody. :-)
Hiya Soodle!

***more hugs***
<---- hoping I'm sounding like an international woman of mystery...
definitely mysterious, my dear.
very mysterious
LOL :-). Lovely to see all my friends, and delighte
hic.. delighted that Hurricane Irene wasn't to harmful.
ty Soodle
are you at the pub?
not nearly as bad as it could have been, but somehow things like this always manage to muck things up for huge numbers of people. fortunately mostly just inconvenience.
Oh, I wish, Hego. ...
Me too Soodle
I saw earlier that Trif was without power for 4 days. Yikes!!
me for 3 days
Poor Harry!
hey harry -- what fun that must have been. how did the kids do with it?
they missed their tv...I didn't :)
Oh my, Harry. Whats that old saying .....You never miss the water till the well runs dry'?.. I guess its the same with electricity!
it was fine, except for the occasional neighbor with a loud generator
:-D always takes a day or two for us, then the kids are happy and inventive and bored to tears a lot less than WITH the boobtube.
yes stid, but the first thing they did when they found out the power was on was "can we watch our shows?"
ugh. typical!
I go crazy if I can't get online.
okay, we are almost done here. I think I am going to go eat choclit at Mother's and pretend I don't care someone else got the job I wanted... which is okay, if it's who I think it is, she's better suited for it I think.
missing the lower U for nbt
G'nite Stiddy
((((Stid)))). Your nobility becomes you!
un words Harry
soodles, I am so glad I could see you today! Hope I get to see you again soon! ((((((extra hugs for BR in case I keep missing him))))))

Still no solid predictions when or where Katia will hit land, or if it will at all.
I am stuck with 61 left

Hello Molly :-)
And Peri :-)
Hey Soodle

Yes Peri
Yes, peri

she just stumped me.
Can also describe land that is green and fetile.

I have that one, ty
Actually, I'm not sure why I always associate lu** with female alcoholics. Sorry if I gave you a bum steer Peri.
hawaiian festival
ahh
np, I had it already
ty wild, have that too
lu5/14
and not the plural of hawaian feast, Bzz?

This is the link in Jillibus's profile. I didn't see a period at the end: http://r46.me/BabbleExpert2011041 0.zip
do I included the .zip Molly? It does not work for me
neither does the link for just the list
48 and tired of this grid. will come back a little later
I have the program now, Peri... want it transferred to you over an IM perhaps?
Yoo hoo! Soodle! The most sacred Celtic number is 3. Also sacred are multiples of three. Guess what the bonus numbers are on my most recent lottery tickets? 36...both o'dem. : D
could you please send it to my e-mail, Neil?
hi again, all! back from the Univ. president's State of the University address. They always have wonderful snacks afterwards :-)
I can try but Google [I use Gmail] probably won't allow it.
If you have MSN or Yahoo messenger, I can transfer it to you over that?
Hi Sue!
ok, I will look for it, ty.
hi, neil!
Or even AIM should work.
hi neil
I don't use any IM
hi molly, hi neil, hi UU. i used to love the after speech parties at the university.
Oh. I'll try via email. Hope it works.
we are now up to "90F, feels like 105F". Bleah.
Hi snoops and lbdawger.
strep
they had mousse - strawberry and chocolate - and cheesecake.
to share a file, any size, use http://www.ge.tt/#!/
thx, snoops! :-)
sounds delish sue
bbl
It was. I ate too much.
peri, check your email.
Ooo, sounds like good eats Sue.
hi everyone, back for remaining 6 I gave up on earlier
There is also a wine and cheese reception going on now at the library but I am too full, and it is too hot to walk over there.
hi, flosey!
Wow, it sent! Check your email, Peri.
Presidential treats were always better than the deans or other department heads.
I didn't think Gmail would allow it... they don't allow an .exe attachment but I packed it into a .rar file.
Indeed. Although at Christmas the winner is the Health and Human Sciences dean - they run the hospitality administration program.
hi flosey!!
does anyone have a clue for pe7/36 please?
sorry, flosey, I've just passed half way.
pe + brit slang for bye + flying horse pega***
thanks lbd
yw
thx, lbd!
strange word?
pe7.36 is a sun hat of Thessalian origin worn by the ancient Greeks, often in combination with the chlamys cape.
hmmm, it's a broad brimmed hat worn by ancient greek travellers
Oh man, Sue. I just read that post of yours at 4:49 pm totally wrong, haha! I thought you said "sorry, flosey, I've just passed half away." Which wouldn't be good at all!
you mean you don't have one in your wardrobe? lol
it is a weird word. especially since the first four letters are the metric prefix for 10^15.
hmm lbd, perhaps the cape is another word to remember
well, after walking in the heat I do feel half dead, neil :-)
I see, Sue. No A/C there?
Hi all.. I've been lurking.. down to 41.. but moving slow now..
Hi lbuxx.
yea, flosey. i saw that and will expect to see it in the grid someday.
not outside, neil
No, I didn't mean outside... now, indoors?
So you can cool off?
hi lbuxx
and they did have it turned off all over campus for an hour, at the request of the electric utility, to avoid brownouts
it's 61°F here, UU
my office (in an old building) does not have good HVAC control, right now it is 81F in here, so I have a fan blowing on me. Makes it ok.
We just had an earthquake here about an hour ago. A little one... my brother's hanging lights were swaying a little for a couple of minutes. [I'm in LA right now].
i was just going to check to see if you were in California, Neil. that's just a common day non-event there.
well, we are supposed to have temps in the low 40s by Monday night, lbd. We go pretty fast from too hot to too cold.
Hi all...we had an earthquake last week which is very unusual
Of course it is, lbdawger.
Yes, I live in Santa Cruz but I'm visiting in LA at the moment... awaiting a call about a job here.
hi thre I got the e-mails from lbd and Neil. thanks
hope one of them work for you, Peri.
good luck re the job. neil
My son and my parents have been without power since last Saturday (hurricane), power company is telling them they may get it back tomorrow night
it is working at the moment. I did click save, lbd. hope it stays put :)
wow, I hope they are ok, Sea!
They are being troopers Sue
good luck, Neil. Hi Sea! hope the folks are high and dry!
You're welcome Peri. Hope it's helpful... haven't even used it myself and don't know if I will.
And thanks, Peri... and dawger.
There was no flooding here, just downed trees on power lines everywhere
that's scary enough, sea. being without power usually means also being without water.
Daughter in law came and got water yesterday, they have been going to in laws for showers, they also have generators at their homes to keep food from spoiling, etc.
clue for the au6? Pretty please?
thank goodness for the generators. i've noticed an advert for generators on the weather channel. thought it kinda funny they'd be showing that.
au + **ring forward fall back + **it stage right

Hi and bye, Glant.
thank you everyone

Hi ruru
Stuck?

Need a clue?
hi ruru, boo, glant! and everybody!

Hi Sue!
Ok ruru.
Hi Sue
I may need some help in a bit though..lol
pe 7/36?
Like an animal rights' group name pluralized, with another word meaning 'we' on the end.
That is a damn hard one to clue, sorry.
got it..
thanks neil
You're welcome ruru. Glad that helped.
great clue
Oh, thanks.
I tried!
I really hate clues that spell the word out... but with some words, there's really no other way to clue.
I missed a ton of easy ones .. *smacking head*
I think sometimes they're harder to see than the bigger words, ruru.
I often don't see all the small, easy words right away.
well, it is down to "88 feels like 102", I suppose I might as well walk home, sigh
I always find the 4's right away..
the big ones always escape me
anyone have the re 7/28?
I'm blind to it
Another tricky one to clue, so bear with me.
Phantom word..serpant
re7,28 -- re + name of female singer [Ike's ex] with the plural letter after the first letter.
I'm sorry if that's a crappy clue... that word is a tough one to clue.
oh the greek drink
got it
thank you neil

Haha, thanks Crossy!
howdy jes
how's everyone?
We had an earthquake here a few hours ago. The hanging lights were moving for a couple of minutes. Scary. [I'm in LA right now].
Hi jes!
and remember always buy your booze in shatterproff platic bottles
And yes, that was a sarcastic 'scary'. It was a very mild one. Nothing to worry about.
they were wrong showing that black label bottle:)
Tying the car up to a stake? Oh yes, that would stop it blowing away. Totally.
With thin rope yet? Highly effective.
but seriously,i am a camper, and a hiker am i love to explore the wilderness, and here is a product that i used all the time and should be in any kits you make for possible future trouble...
http://firesteel.com/
Ok, what's with the third photo? Put all the deck furniture into the pool before it blows in there anyway?
i recomend this particular model(check out the vid clip)...
http://firesteel.com/products/GobSpark -Armageddon-FireSteel-with-Scraper-and -Lanyard.html
And the 7th photo? Uhhh, there's a body in that bag.
Yes Crossy, I can see FireSteel being a good idea.
i have one that is 2 years old now and works like new
si7 pls, last word

si7,36 -- like a path that has many curves, bends or turns. si + no4,5 with another word for 'we' jumbled into it. This is hellishly hard to clue!
have got 101 words. off to pretend to work.
Like a cavity in the bones of the face, with two more vowels added in before the last letter. The last [fifth] vowel is a repeat of the third one.
huh?..duuu...me need tea after that clue...
I need something stronger than tea!
How else would you clue that word? Ugh.
si7 -- twisty, as a snake
Some words are pretty hard to clue.
evening :)
si 7/36...it's a *** to tell a lie + vowel + we would all like to be rich and fam***
That was my first clue, Seain.
Well yes, of course MollyL found a better way.
take the si5/12 that comes after... include an i** note for something owed after the fourth letter
No, I just dimmed it down a bit.
It was a much better clue. I should probably give up trying to clue!
speaking of dimming down, I would really like my electricity to be restored! please all of you speak to whatever authorities you're in touch with (higher power, etc)
Off to speak to The Goddess Dorens.
thanks molly...hope she listens better to you than she does to my neighbors and me
I'm finding it almost archaic that power companies do not have people up and running by now. And God forbid this thing had been as bad as they predicted.
lot of trees down up here, but it seems to me that by now they should have been able to deal with them. I wonder if they would like to reimburse me for the contents of my refrigerator and freezer>
Not to mention you will see no 4 day adjustment on your next power bill.
i heard they are giving away free ice to those without power, but I never did see it on tv, lol! And we have to go pretty far to get it, so I don't know if it's worth it
there are still trees down in my neighborhood, and we were not hit a fraction as hard as NJ
oh i think i will see at least a 5 day adjustment on my bill.... the meter couldn't be ticking since saturday night
trees down is one thing, but power lines not restored is another!!!!
are you still without power, doren?
if your lines are above ground, they two are linked.
Power companies are "supposed" to address lines downed by trees and fix the lines. The trees are the responsibility of the municipality.
they are if the tree took a power line down... sometimes they don't (like the 40 ft oak that landed in my back yard during floyd... took out much of my plantings, but fortunately stopped three feet from my house
ty for si 7 clue dc
ty for si 7 clue dc
mm a stutter
yes owl still... and i don't see anyone nearby doing anything about it. there are some live wires with do not touch signs!
oh my that is unacceptable, the live wires at least. sorry.
Oh wow Dorens, you were being watched over when that tree missed your house.
many modern poles have a breaker switch at the base with a long rod leading to top,if it becomes a real hazard, look for this breaker..but only as last resort
funny... i actually saw it happen... power had gone off (of course) and i was opening a can of tuna at the sink, watching the big oaks at the very crest of the hill waving in the loud winds. It was awesome. Then I heard a loud crack and watched this thing fall toward my house.... it was about 20 feet to the left of me... poised to hit my bedroom, and I was powerless as I watched it fall. You should see the pics of my yard full of oak branches and leaves.
Wow, what an OH MY GOD moment that must have been.
the second biggest of my life... First ws when my husband was flying us home from Niagara Falls in a little piper cherokee and he lost power .. had to make an emergency landing... and our first born was with us... not even two years old. I was raised by atheists, but you should have heard the prayers I figured out really fast
there are no athiests in foxholes and powerless planes that are crash landing
amen!
(altho i think the deals i was making had to do with my son)
so when are they telling you the power will be restored?
and i was in the f3 tornado that hit orangeville/barrie in 1980 and it destroyed my car and left me alone..it is funny how dusty unused prayers spring to mind with hail the size of golf balls and 180 mph winds lol
they're not really. i haven't personally asked them. but i think i've heard "probably by sunday"
a beautiful 1977 pontiac grand prix, all dented and all the glass blown out of it:((
who knows why we sometimes seem to live in a state of grace, and othertimes certainly not
when it's your time it's your time.
tbh dorens, after 2 tornados and 3 bouts of cancer, nothing phases me anymore
clue for un6 please, so i can finish up and go home
That is quotable Dorens.
for both male and female doren
The un 6 means pertinent to both genders.
like the man said"worrying about the future is like trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon"
where are you. library?
un+ vowell + the wild thing
hi babblers - dorens I hope you get your power back VERY soon
hi jbv
Hi JBV. Ru, how are you feeling?
not so great ..coping
here's something weird to ponder - I'm sitting here researching what to do to get rid of a hornet's nest (2 actually) and reading all this horrible stuff about hornets and all of a sudden I feel this sting on my arm - a GIANT bite- I guess there's a mosquito in here, at least I hope that's what it was - it hurts like the dickens
*Sends healing vibes in Ruru's direction*
hey ru what's up
i thrashed my knee jb
oh, sorry to hear that ruru
JBV, baking soda on that bite might help.
so forget what I said about a mosquito bite :)
yes.. just dumb on my part
I just thought it was a strange coincidence as I was reading about hornets
I applied a cortisone cream - helped a little
Ru have you had the MRI yet?
sorry to hear this ru
JBV, did you get some good ideas on how to get rid of your hornet's nests?
evening all!
Hey 2Bit
yes I think I have to call an exterminator :)
either that or go out and buy a hazmat suit, and expensive spray equipment....
they are quite dangerous
any clues for te6/7 comboplease?
They are dangerous JBV. I've knocked down nests being built (small ones) after spraying them in the evening, but I don't know if I would attempt doing that with a large nest.
jbv, can you use those bombs that throw the spray out so you do not have to approach them? worked for me, you do it in the early evening when they are home and drowsy
I would normally leave them alone, but the problem is the nests are hanging from low branches of two trees in my garden, and my lawn guy has already been stung!
I never noticed it until it was really large
te6/7 sounds like the round things on a castle
oh, I'll look into that , TO, i'll go to the garden store tomorrow and see what they have
ty,i failed to see the second r. jbv depends on here it is and how large
most of the videos and tips say you have to wear goggles, cover your head and body with heavy clothing etc. too scary
and I have been stung once by a wasp - a long time ago but I never forgot how it felt - my whole hand swelled up and I could barely move my fingers
that is probably right and i was probably wrong. though the spray in evening is correct
I've got a huge hornets nest in one of the alders in my backyard. I'm waiting for the first freeze before doing anything about them. nothing back there but squirrels, deer, racoons and other critters of nature.
My first bee sting ever was from a hornet, when my Dad was trying to get rid of a nest. Very painful stings.
re7/8pls?
I've had a wasp sting too, JBV. Very painful.
be careful jbv. they are nasty at the best of times, really mean when their nests are disturbed.
I would like to do the same, lbd - just leave it - but they have to go around the tree to mow the lawn and it's right there!
re7...a triangle is a sh5. If you make one again you re7.
hi neil
The one meaning to sh6,14 something again?
The 8 is the person who does that.
Hi JBV.
It may be worth the cost of an exterminator, jbv.
ty
And yes... someone who does that.
I vote for the exterminator JBV. No sense putting yourself in harms way.
Hi gang
Hi Jilli
I vote for the exterminator too -- got a wasp bite a couple of weeks ago and wouldn't want another.
Nice icon, Molly
I like yours too Jilli. I think Delft is very pretty.
all: can bron rice go rancid? I do not liek the way this tastes.
i would have done it myself a few years ago, but now am allergic to bee stings which is what it sounds like you are too jbv so this pioneer woman says get an exterminator or at least someone who is not allergic
Maybe you know about a neat wasp-nest preventative, but I learned one from a local restaurant with an outdoor deck which was wasp-free. Just get a brown paper bag, stuff it with scrunched-up pieces of newspapers until it's roundish, tie a string around the top and hang it up it places where nests occur. Wasps (hornets) are territorial and they think it's somebody else's so they go away. It does seem to work!
as7 ?
TO, pitch the rice. Better safe than sorry.
as + to endure is to *****vere
add a vowel to the as6, dan2bit
er, already ate it. thought it was fault of old paprika
TO, yes brown rice, any grain can go bad. toss it!
aha - I got my e's mixt
si7 pls?

I have 21 left -- diving into the grid for now...*splash*
bye all, ty for the clues
si7 more sinew
night, TO. hope the rice wasn't bad.
(BTW, it was COLD here today -- 61F, 16C!)
how's it going ru? *gives him ice bag for knee*
same here, Jilli. even made chicken cassarole for dinner...something warm and hearty.
<==ate cheese in the car on road home
or casserole...bad monkeys
*sending casserole to JMC*
mmmmm ty lbd
brb, need some tea
so i am suppose to take a "ropes" course as part of my program but i have a huge fear of heights
a friend recently convinced me to ride a ski lift over trees and i turned green while on it
<----Afraid of heights too, sympathizes with JMC
i actually started breathing hard reading the description
you might want to get an exemption from the ropes course, JMC.
there is a low level one that i am willing to try but i admit i am nervous about the whole thing--it is off when this will hit me since i was standing on the edge of my second floor with no problem but the thought of doing a zip line makes me grow faint
it is *odd not off
what is the purpose of the ropes course? leadership? trust? there are other ways of showing these traits.
i have no clue. working as a team probably
I totally and completely agree with LBD
since i am the oldest student byt 10 years i don't want people to think age is holding me back
there are other ways of doing that too. I've gotten exempted from doing rope courses on the mere fact that the course had nothing to do with what they said it was designed for. not to mention my klutzability and age.
well i think i could do the low ropes part and beg off on the high stuff
unless you're planning on leading a group to climb El Capitan or K2, i think the lower ropes should be enough.
well i would make a terrible leader for either of those events lbd! lol
i really think rope courses were designed by macho woman ha6.
haha
they do tend to need upper body strength which men are more likely to excel at
yup
well then i will refuse as a dedicated feminist!! haha
i think using a zip line would be fun, but i'd rather experience it vicariously.
FW
my boy did it in costa rica and of course loved it and bungee jumping
whooo hooo jill!
whoooo hoooooo JILLI!!!
yeah, well your son is young and immortal! lol
Tell them you have acrophobia, then prove your strength some other way, jmc
haha yes indeed lbd
i could to push ups!
Yes indeed!
is this grid hard or is it just me?
oooh, i know. draw up a legal document that details that any injury to your person or psyche will be on the heads of the college.
You could demonstrate your tarp-hammering skills...
it's hard, jmc. lots of odd words!
haha you have to sign a waiver to do it lbd
Heights make me dizzy, thus sapping my upper body strength and my leg strength. Not a good combination for rope climbing.
heights make me close my eyes!
i hold my breathe, but then that makes me dizzy, then i hyperventalate, and...
I can't even watch movies where people are fighting on top of a tall building.
when i had a broken gutter i went up on the roof with my then 8 year-old son and found i couldn't approach the edge of the roof without freezing so i held him over the edge by his ankles which oddly didn't bother me at all!
I have acrophobia too, never did until I got stuck on a rock-climb. Now can't even abide an enclosed ski-lift.
Oh, so Michael Jackson learned that trick from you JMC. Who knew?
i can climb ladders, but it's not my favorite activity.
i got stuck in a passage caving--6 times to get through--and didn't think it effected me until i went scuba diving and the instructor wanted me to go in a cave and i panicked
hey he was cleaning the gutter and had nothing obstructing his vision
i am okay with ladders
i bet your son thought it was fun.
he did lbd
sorry *affected me
I think of those Mohawks from the Montreal area who balanced on sky-high beams and built the Empire State building. And there's that guy in the news recently who walked a rope without a balance beam to the top of Germany's highest mountain...can barely look at the photo!
*effected. affected. confused once again*
going up ladders isn't hard, it's coming down that is the problem. i've been known to fall from bottom rungs not judging the distance to the ground.
be careful lbd i broke my foot that way once
Dangled by ankles from a ladder at age 8 = no fear of zip lines and bungee jumping.
affected in that case, jmc
i fell off one of the ladders at work, didn't realize i still had two steps to go before getting to the floor. OWIE!!
he wasn't dangled from a ladder--he was dangled off the edge of my two story house
heights have a bad effect on you
ty jill i have always had trouble with that one no matter how many times i have had it explained
I stand corrected.
haha the fact that i was not arrested for child abuse always amazes me
as long as i couldn't see over the edge i was okay
them were the days when child "abuse" like that hadn't been invented
back in the day, jmc!
okay i am not even close to 1/2 way but am listing this grid is hopeless!
bfn -- Coronation Street starting on CBC
bye jilli
night, Jilli
fireworks unaided
whoo hoo grem! wtg!
was stuck with 2 left for a very long time
50 minutes for first 180, 2-3 hours for last 2
haha they can hide can't they!
finally just randomly guessed one I'd never seen
yep
phantoms of the day: aruspex and haruspex
what do those words mean grem?
no idea, but if you can play the first in Scrabble, you probably won't have to worry about your opponent realizing the second works too
haha good to know
means: "A priest in ancient Rome who practiced divination by the inspection of the entrails of animals."
I think I actually must have looked that up before, seems familiar
A priest in ancient Rome who practiced divination by the inspection of the entrails of animals.
snap
aha, and there's a similar word in the grid that actually means something similar, not just coincidental
apparently the one is a variant spelling of the other
yeah
well we will see if i can remember that more than one day--i finally got zarf nailed down so it is time to move on to another word
Evening all.
hi peach
whoooo hoooo gremlinn!

hi book, hi dan
whoo hooo dan!!
Night 2Bit.
whoooo hooooo DAN!!
way to go dan ~~~~~ !!!!!!!!
no new little 2bit pics? :-(
night, dan
Baby 2Bit pictures seem to be seasonal. I am predicting the next will be romping in the fallen Autumn leaves. Can't wait.
oooh her head peeking out of a pile of leaves!
we have been shooting video of baby2bit recently. mrs2bit took her to a "petting farm" today
apparently she's a big fan of goats
goats are nicer than geese for sure
i finally got nbs
Aw, little baby 2Bit, the female goatherd.
congrats jmc
haha there is a guy in my class whose parents named him after the book giles the goat herder
High on a hill was a girlie goatherd, yodle-ay-dee-odle-ay-dee-oh-hoo-hoo!
fresh picture in my profile now, per Molly's request. No goats though
good book, Giles Goat Boy
(rockin' to the beat of the Lonely Goatherd, woot)
how many letters in the C please?

*Cough* Sputter* Surely I meant cup of water.

thats what i said to him harp
hi jes
so little 2bit doesn't comprehend the sippy cup system yet (if it stays in the sippy cup)

hey, who turned off the music?
sorry just need to turn over the album!

Doh, wrong U, never mind . . .
wtg jes!
go jexs
or jes...monkeys are slacking off
ooh, with an x and everything :) i must be special today!
you're special everyday, Jes
*puts a gold star on jexs forehead*
hee
we use star stickers as chart codes at work. gold stars mean the animal pees when restrained. :D
so the boy came home today to find the hotwater heater sprang a leak and there is only one cut-off valve in his whole house
and do you pee when restrained, jes?
hahahahahaha
not usually
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
*quickly removes the gold star*
i might bite though. So i should probably have a red star.
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi min :)
. . .and i am sure your partner is grateful jes
hahahahaha
hi min
how about silver?
oh, he IS, jam :)
I tell him so on a regular basis, too. ;)
someday when we're older deep in thought not a lot to say
silver is other-dog aggressive
blue means the owner is aggressive
hmmm i would think gold and silver would be good things
and green means the owner has no money
so do most owners, which is why we use them on charts instead of writing nasty notes.
*puts a green star on jes*
that way when/if the owners ask for copies of records, they think we really like them and their dog, because they have FIVE stars! :)
*throws multi-colored glitter at jes*
heehee
tricksy, Jes. but good thinking to keep clients baffled.
i think i may head to bed--i never sleep well in the country
Also, if you ever get a copy of a file from somewhere and they have a bunch of stickers on it, be aware that it probably means something they don't wanna tell you.
damn frogs
been at several different clinics with similar codes.
aww, i hope you sleep sweet tonight, jam
not to mention the wild turkeys and groundhogs
yep nothing but the sweet sound of cars going by
so with 48 left i bid you good night
if you say so, jam. the lights always bother me
i like frogs
too noisy
and the street lights are away from my window
city people are odd. I like you anyway, though. ;)
and i like you even if you are a country mouse!
*poof*
*squeek!*
Goodbye jmcnrick! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
(((hugs everyone))) hello...
hi stid :)
*scuffles feet* I am in a poopy mood this evening. *grumpy face*
sorry
what'd i do? what can i do to make it better? *grovels*
me too. I just feel like crawling in bed and hiding. And there is NO REASON for that! Except a HUGE impending feeling of DOOM (or destiny?) looming in the near future. Will I get a job? Will I discover that I have conveniently forgotten a major criminal past like I forgot the only paid employment I held in the last ten years... *sigh*
no no jes, you are perfectly lovely. it's the air. or the water. or the sun. or the overcast. or...
Hi stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
perhaps you need to throw a lu4/6?
how is the amazing bruce today?
hm.... that's a thought! :-D
tired and sore and a little sunburned. he's building me a fence :)
hello Min! are you back in school already?
fences, in case you wonder, are spendy. I'm about $2500 into this one.
ooooh. the amazing bruce! he slices! he dices! he bakes bread! he doubles as a nightlight with radiant heat! *wicked mama grin*
indeed :)
yes -- that is why we don't have a fenced yard yet. *sigh* I am a bad pet companion.
invisible fence is much easier, stid
okay, I am getting silly and have to leave soon to get the kid from band practice.
ahh, missed saying night night, to jmc. hi stiddy
is it? is a german shepherd galoot likely to be deterred from running by one of those?
hey lbd
if you train him.
gotta introduce him to the fence in a controlled manner--so he goes up to it slowly, hears the beeps, and learns to come back in.
i think Lucky would be smart enough to stop at the invisible fence.
roflmao... no no no! you don't understand! shepherds don't GET trained, they train YOU! *shakes mama head sadly* and you call yourself a vet...
if the first time he knows there's a fence there is when he hits it at a dead run and he's across before it shocks him... not so much.
heh. if you say so, stid. but it works for my veryvery smart escape-artist hound.
oh! That makes sense though. I can see that actually working. And we could do just the part of the yard that we actually want him in and make it just the right shape.
yup
so you wanna put the fence out, then lead him towards it until it beeps, pull him back in and give him a cookie.
repeat on all lines of the fence
hm. I am SO GLAD I saw you tonight! and with the cookies, he will be glad I saw you too! I'll go do some research.
then let him get shocked once and jerk him back in.
and repeat the beep, pull back, cookie routine.
and you'll be set :)
it really works, unless you have a digger, then it doesn't work so well.
As I begin teaching, I need something that allows me to put him outside without him running off to punish me for being gone so often.
No, he doesn't dig. So we're good there.
should still shock them as they head out, dawg
you'd need to see the hole, Jes. Makes the guys on hogan's heros look like amateurs
heheh
Today was my first day back, hence my icon for today
okay, supper's ready. (((JES))) you're a real treasure, you know that? *proud friend look* And LBD, perhaps someday we'll be on at the same time... (((LBD))) and Min -- have a lovely day tomorrow with your kiddos! (((Min))) *Poof*
night night, stiddy
my hound used to do that. i took to refilling all her holes with the dog poo from the yard. she didn't like that much.
have a lovely evening, stid!
we filled the holes with cinder blocks! and built a tighter fence.
that works too :)
my whole backyard looked like the grand canyon! the terrier was hunting geckos and the doberman was helping!
eventually, i had a very level yard made of a thin layer of dirt over a thick layer of dog poo... and she lost interest in digging, since everywhere that she dug ended up being her own poo.
as7 please
i'll remember that for the next dog...if there is a next dog. *sigh*
add a vowel to the end of the as6 wild
as+sounds like womans hand bag
ty
why wouldn't there be?
and i'm off to my pillows. see you all tomorrow!

si 7, please?
s + opposite of out + excess is superfl****.
Great clue, neil!
That's a hard one to clue any other way. I hate those clues that spell the words out, myself... but with some words, what else do you do? Means curving, twisty, like a path.
Hi all, by the way...
Ugh. I hate those spell-the-word out clues, Jellen.
and hi!
I'd completely forgotten I started this grid...
ty neil
yw nan.
un 6, please?
For either gender, nan.
Like un**** clothing or hairstyles.
ty neil

I'm not on all that much, hootowl. Just happen to catch each other when we are, I guess. It's later in the evneing here now.
Think its group of 7?
that's the 6/21
I just finished a job I was doing all month, hootowl. Now starting another assignment. Visiting in LA at the moment with family.
that's true - not complaining mind you - I like meeting new people
akk right! enjoy yourself
I'm on when I'm not busy... in between other things. Some of the work I do, I do on my laptop [writing]. So sometimes I pop in and out of here to give clues, while I'm doing that.
Yeah, I am, thanks. It's kind of business as well as pleasure though.
Just checked - group of 7
What's group of 7? The Canadian artists/painters, you mean?
group of 7 is se 6/21 I think -- looking for the se 6/18
Oh, haha!
Yes, that's a group of 7 too.
RIGHT! change the sec cons to another
ah -- group of 6
se6,21 and the plural, se7,32.

they are always offensive!
Pretty much.

ok I'll try again
No, but they've been in the news for them so many times. Some of their campaigns have been awful.

Anagram of p*** moss.

Right, hootowl.
