Good evening/morning all
hi haz
Hello, Andree. Nice to see you again.
nice to be back babbling
Are you doing the grid most days again or just at random as you have time?
been doing what i can when i can as i have more time now
That's nice. I'm not making very rapid progress with this grid.
have sold my business, goes through on 30th octobber
Oh, that's good news! I'm sure you're glad to get it sorted out.
Did you get a reasonable price for it?
no, i even have to finance it, but am still happy, my sutherland franchisee is taking it which means my drivers wont lose their jobs and my customers wont bre inconvenienced
hi Andree, great to see you! looks like you've landed in a lovely spot, nice picture! :)
As long as you're happy, that's the main thing and you know the business is in good hands.
hi rbud
Hello, rbud.
how time flies Haz, Hugo is 2 now
Goodness! Hard to believe. I'm sure he's still a great companion for you. Spangle is nearly 11 and seriously slowing up.
he is gorgeous, my best friend
I suppose your granddaughters miss him, though?
they do but i am there for a night or 2 every week and ofcourse he comes with me
That's good. He'll lap up the love those nights!
he does love the kids
Are they still in the same house?
they are and my office is still there too
I remember you worrying about him falling in the pool.
he did 3 times as a baby
gave me a terrible fright
You were right to worry! Kind of heart-sinking moments.
i dont know how there can be 231 words in this puzzle
I'm reaching the conclusion that there must be some very odd ones lurking. And I'm talking words, not babblers.
ha ha
taking a break for some dinner
Enjoy dinner, Andree, and then you'll be freshly fuelled for the next round of finding words. See you again!
good afternoon all
wow... pretty tight grid for such a big one!
hello everybody

hehehe we still must design our indian meal, rubyfoo
yes!
went to interesting show last nite: Singing Down the Pain -- music from the Civil War era performed live in Nashville's historic Downtown Presbyterian Church -- http://tinyurl.com/3g2nau7
a friend from SA made a hilarious bingo in lexulous: aasvogel!
the church was a hospital for wounded soldiers during the Civil War
oh that is pure dutch
Une, that looks interesting!
who were the performers?
or Afrikans!
the performers were local singers and musicians -- they were recording it for Public Television
yes, Afrikans. Usually when a dutch word is valid in english, it comes from Africa.
that sounds wonderful
one group of singers included an African American gentleman who was one of the original Freedom Riders!
oh my... really special
wow!
most in audience were my age or older -- room full of old liberals!! :-)

good morning all; how many words today and thanks in advance
Good morning, Mom
HI ((Mom))
(((Mrp)))) good evening
hi steve, 231 today
I have been sitting by the phone waiting for a call for decades now ... no one ever asks me out.
231
almost too many
good morning ((Jellen)), how are you, I haven't seen you ages.
Hello, Mom.
if I didn't know how much you value your privacy, I'd ask for your phone number, BabbleRabble :)
(((Annie))) good morning. Good to see you
hello Mom
I am fairly well, Mom...Thanks for asking!
((Babblerabble)) good morning to you.
glad to hear that, Jellen
(((Sprite))) good morning
hi mom...
((Carlee)) good morning
It was 10:30 last night before I realized that I hadn't even looked at babble.
You must have been very busy
same here mom! i didn't look at babble till 10 min ago!
i need food..do i want an omelette..or just toast...

if the grid is a small one tomorrow i will do it
i dont have those things..i have smoked turkey and cheddar and onion...
that would work... cheddar and onion is lovely
Annie, I hope you have had good weather this week.
hi, mom and steve!
( groceries are very plain...basic...nothing fancy for the mext couple years...dxh is giving me 100.00 in support atm....and i dont make enough to cover rent...and i a waiting for my student loan...)
I was talking to a lady in the waiting room the other day and she did not care for my views on a number of things.... then out of the blue, she asked me if I was single. When I said yes, she told me I should be!
Mom, the weather is lousy, right now, foggy, muggy and drizzly but we did our thing..doesnt stop us
and BR, if I am ever in your area I will give you a call! (assuming I know your number, of course!)
oh dear, BR
I had to laugh
lol :)
I can't tell you how many men have walked away from me when I told them what I do for a living, BR! And that even when I was young and (dare I say) attractive...
Laugh away, BR!
glad to hear that Annie. Regardless of the weather, I knew you would have a great tme
although I found it a useful filter - anyone who is threatened by me is someone I don't want to be involved with anyway
time*
wasn't that Winston Churchill, with that lady that told him that if he were her husband, she would poison his tea? (And he answered that if he were her husband, he would drink it)
oooh, got a 9!!
yes, it was sprite
sounds healthy, uusue
so there you go, BR - that is a lady you wouldn't want to have anywhere around you anyway!

I voluteered to take my other half for a six hour drive today ...she enjoyed it!
yeah. I know. So many of my nurse friends have done this too. And I need to be here to care for Aunty too. But I did enjoy the time away from her (that sounds bad; doesn't it?)

LOL! I know I need a break; last week I felt like pounding my head against a wall when she wouldn't eat. I seem to take it personally when she loses weight (she's now down to 90 lbs; she's lost 40 lbs since March)
How old is she?
we need rain here. I'd like to mow the lawn myself this fall
she's 86. I keep telling her she won't regain any "good" weight at her age
sounds difficult.
she's been a very sweet person over her life. But she was the youngest of 5 girls and sometimes that "baby of the family" thing comes out
Yikes! It's late. Better go. BBL.

I love the white rose vine my great-aunt has, grown from her grandmothers' (My great-great-grandma's) vine. The flowers smell like heaven, but are not in the classic rose shape, due to being a 19th century variety.

Take a cutting with a spent flower, take off a few lower leaves, dip it in rootone, and put it in moist soil. I usually do it in a zip-lock, blow it up and seal it, and leave it in a cool shady spot. After a few weeks you can see roots on the bottom. Then open the top gradually to harden it off and plant in a pot. There are lots of details on the web. Great way to adopt roses from other people's collections. (might be illegal in some way that I don't know)
I get different ones every day, sometimes phrases of Bach, most of the time 30's ditties
thank you, roses, I will look for a rooting compound

Good day to all.

Hi Scrabs
yw
Hey Scrabs
mare
bare
Ooooh. A bare mare!!
FW
It's Free Clue Friday! Don't miss the free clues!
and must run... someone puish scrab
punish
Yay kje!
Well done, Kje. :-)
I like free clue Friday. ; )
It is only fair that we have a free clue day.
Absolutely
Hope you had a happy Arthur's Day Soodle.
What is Arthur's Day?
hi scrabs and YAY kje
Hi Stid
It was a very dry Arthurs Day for me, Molls. But I believe that there was much merriment in town!
sorry. stupid kid #1 is again reverting to his fantasy of being a brilliant scientist despite all evidence of lack of investment and poor academic effort. So the jobs that are available to this child are "beneath him" and he is going to be living in a tent in our backyard in the future. *shrug*
Arthurs Day????
http://www.guinness.com/en-ie/arthursd ay/index.html
The arrogance of adolescence is related to their lack of life experience. They don't know reality.
SOODLES!!!! *hugs* and (((scrabs))) wanna buy a kid? today's special two for the price of a plane ticket. Come with sleeping bags (for them) and sedatives (for you)
Kid #1 sends me messages occasionally and we IM'd on FB recently.
oh! cool!
that's nice scrabs.
I do have the space, Stid, but do I have the patience?
Yikes, (((Stiddie)) Not for all the tea in China, thank you very much. I have 2 teens here......
I am glad that there is someone somewhere who loves him and supports him, because clearly I don't.
okay, must get going. have been re-arranging the bedroom and ignoring a few other tasks I was about to get to when the younger one called and "set me off" as our family calls it.
I gave him the address for Study Guides and Strategies after which he said, "Finally someone shows me something that will help." I explained time management, etc
((((Stid)))) Deep breaths...........
thanks for letting me vent. I am rethinking why I bothered to go back to school to support them when I could have done other things.
I think he is a typical adolescent that does not yet know personal responsibility.
Focus in getting them to 25--when their frontal lobe has completed the neuronal pruning process.
I know Scrabs -- and it's so funny that with a teacher in the house there was no one who could give him advice on studying. And his grandmother a teacher. No one at all...
I think I could prune his neurons... *gets out scissors*
I don't think I will live until they are 25! *sob*
You need a saw or drill first
I have a couple of rusty hand drills...
Rofl....... I know a couple of teens round here that could do with a bit of pruning.
and some jumper cables and a battery...
That's fine. They've had their tetanus vaccines.
I think we could do this, scrabs... *evil scientist hair begins to sprout*
www.empoweringparents.com
scrabs, you are a treasure! (((hugs)))
Yes, I have the Fisher-Price Home Craniotomy Kit.
rofl...
Get sheets and hot water.
I'll use the pastel sheet printed with smiling flowers (to throw them off guard)
Good idea.
*again thinking that it was better not to have kids*
And we need rope and duct tape.
you need duct tape for EVERY job
<---- Standing by with the stun-gun.....
We buy duct tape in JUMBO rolls. Hey judy!
Judy!! You little lurker!
Judy, you are SO right!
I like that Hego---Little Lurker
Too late for me, but you younger folks...
Everyday I am reminded that my decisions to be childless (and husbandless) are correct
Stid, the teen years have to be hell for a parent
These people seem to be planning a crime. ....slinks away...
I think we could just play 60s lounge music for anesthetic
hego-lurker! come back! we need someone to hold them down!
OMG *covers ears* can't listen to possible crime plans
Adolescents should be placed in bo4 camps and released at age 25.
I agree on the husbandless Scrabs
I've raised 8 adolescents.
I usually love being a parent, but some days (this being one of them) I get so very discouraged.
I'm done!!
No crime, Judy, rather a surgical procedure with benefits >> risks.
my lovely tom excepted, of course, right Judy?
YAY hego!
bungee and duct tape them to a pool table
right Stiddy
oh -- I thought you meant done with the grid... LOL
You have 8 kids, Hego! *bowing at Hego's feet*
I can't imagine EIGHT teens...
All you can do is wait it out.
Time will fix it all.
but but but... I am NOT a PATIENT person!!! *stamps feets*
Not all at the same time Stid.
OMG Hego. And you're still able to sit up and be coherent? I'm in awe!!
Had 2 sets of stepkids and 2 my own.
Be calm, be consistent, be compassionate, set limits, have expectations, turn mistakes into lessons for them, make their lives a living hell if need be
that's good hego, but still... wow. I think I would have volunteered to slop the kitchens and bathrooms in Antarctica round about kid #5...
I'm either very calm now or numb.
I am REALLY good at the living hell piece, scrabs! LOL
I can't tell.
excellent advice Scrabs
Hego, any chance that YOU had brain surgery?
okay, stidkid is storming out of house. must "converse" quickly
And they got worse as time went by.
Scrabs, talking about doing a vacation in NY next year
Frontal lobotomy Scrabs
good luck Stid
Bye Stid
Remind kids that you provide a house, clothes, food, etc. They are living in YOUR house.
Where Judy?
I've having a horrible time with this grid today
nobody likes it Judy
Finger Lakes, Alexandria Bay, maybe Niagara, would like to visit Culinary Institute
I have found 71 but am slowing down.
definitely would like to meet you, Scrabs
Aha, roll out the ba6....
CIA is wonderful!
glad to know it's not just me. found 114 and am now totally stuck
have been there twice
LOL Scrabs
ooooo Hego tell me more
Judy, I live 30 miles southeast of Buffalo.
If I head up to NY will definitely be in touch. Probably early Fall
or late Summer
back. NOT storming out of the house. AND was willing to come back and finish the task I had set him earlier. *light appears at end of tunnel*
All Hudson River Valley is gorgeous
BTW, Matthew says hello, scrabs.
I've been to West Point and Hyde Park
hang in there Stid
I don't know what I did right...
Well, hello to the PhD.
the kiddo is impressed with our plans...
Just be patient and calm, Stid. Show NO emotion. When parents get angry the kid feels powerful. Be a broken record.
The brain surgery? Tell him he won't feel a thing.
*RO5 face on*
Roseanne Barr was my idol as mother of teens
She never got shook
any clues for the upper right U
LOL I assured him that would be the case... *puts some ether on a handkerchief*
Yes, Stid. FAKE that you are in control. Remind yourself that teens are works in progress and "this too shall pass."
u plus the buddist priest
U + andean camel-type
just like when I am teaching??? *reaches for teacher jacket*
Oh right one l
Yes, Stid. Parents are teachers and leaders.
da4! I can do that... *sigh*
TY Stid and Hego
And there can be no argument with a teen if you just walk away when they flip out.
yw
which I CAN do at home, but not at school.
scrabs, you are wonderful. If one of us ever manages to get around the flying thing, I hope we can hang out for a while.
ooh! I got an 8!
We would laugh so much!!
oooo how about a clue Stid?
Clue for that 8? Clues for any 8 and 9 please?
okay, start with the fellow who rides the rails (tr5), and ending that means stomps all over, and turn it into the person who does the stomping.

Near Asbury Park
I have relatives on LBI
Fridays, yes, and Tuesday afternoons. I have worked part-time for 20 yrs. I don't need $, I need a life.
2 miles from me
WAY TO GO SCRABS--love that philosophy
My sister lives in Bergen county.
I make enough $ to get by although my retirement savings are meager. But I can work part-time forever as long as I am healthy, so I am in no rush to retire. Part-time work prevents burn-out.
I'm getting very tired of my one hour one way commute daily but since I began a homeowner just a few years ago gotta keep working to take care of the house
*became a homeowner
Work toward being debt-free. I am $4900 away from being debt-free.
WOW. Yes that's what I'm doing.
Debt = slavery of sorts. Being debt-free is liberating. I am a big Dave Ramsey fan.
i also am debt free
The only way to fly!
Woo hoo, Hego. My challenge is to save enough $ to buy my next car with cash. And I will never buy a new car again, only used.
Ifyou are retired
i am so not debt free but enjoyed nearly every penny i spent on travel
back
hi scrabs and ciocia
not if i could just stop the house repair costs!
Hi Je

I'm a lot older than you JE so you have time.
are you?
And it took most of my life to get to this point.
well i did get two pt jobs to cover the cost of gasoline to school
Yes, I am
and the theory is that i will have a new career in the next year or so
And never regret the travel.
It's a great life experience.
oh there have been a couple of trips. . . .
lol
Yep, experiences matter more than material things.
Well enough for today. Have a good one all!
Bye!
bye hego
it is odd, though to be working for $10 an hour
Bye Hego
Now you are, Je?
i am doing phonathon for the college where i am taking my masters and transcribing transcripts
gonna head out and get home shortly
I didn't know you returned to school!

Bye Judy
bye ciocia
Hi and Bye Je

I always thought that was three words.
I think it should be.
Today is a sad, sad day.
Packing our things to head back home tomorow. It has been a great week.
Oh? Where are you going home from, Bea?
We'be been at the beach this week.
Oh, nice. Which beach, where?
I live right across the road from the ocean... but to get to a nice area of beach, I have to walk a little way.
Igot it thanks
We are on the Crystal Coast of NC at Indian Beach.
yw, Inge.
Oh, ok. I was in NC not too long ago... very nice there.
Where in NC where you?
Oh, Bzz... The worst part of a holiday is always the 'coming back to reality' bit.
It is, Soodle. And even worse, my grandbabies will be going back home.
Last word I need is Ma 5 12 PLEASE CLUE.
it's like a back tooth, only change the first vowel.

Thanks Champ :-)

Yay Inge!! Well done!!
good afternoon everyone
Sorry Bea... was busy tweeting there. I was in Raleigh NC on the 23 of last month, and Charlotte the next day... was on the road with Anthony Hamilton and Jill Scott doing concert photography for their venues.
[They're R&B artists.]
Hello Neil & Flosey :-)
sounds like a fun job neil
Hi Soodlebum. And flosey.
Hi Soodle
I think I remember you telling me that before, Neil.
Our home is near Raleigh.
It wasn't bad... done that before. Just very tiring on the move all the time like that. I was glad to get home again and sleep in my own bed!
yes, understand that part of it neil, can get tiresome
Yes flosey, it sure can and sure does.
<---Quoting Dorothy.....Theres no place like home... theres no place like home.....
absolutely, Soodle
But photography and writing [journalism] beat scrubbing toilets for a living I guess.
Bad enough having to do my own. :P
quite a comparison neil
Yeah, I thought so.
I imagine your job is really interesting, Neil?
you do get to meet a lot of interesting characters, Neil
ae
a
Yeah it's ok, it's very difficult and pretty boring at times too. I'm not always writing about subjects that interest me all that much. Sometimes I'm just photographing building sites... but it's better than some jobs I can think of that I'd never want to do. And all the travelling might sound great, but it gets pretty tiresome at times.
'Very difficult & boring at times'....... just about describes my job too!!
Yeah, it probably describes most jobs.
bi
s
Plus when I'm travelling around to work in different locations, that's abourt all I'm doing there. There isn't much time for anything else... can't do any real sight-seeing, which is frustrating.
I work in the Coroners Office. Yesteday, one of our coroners returned a verdict of 'Spontaneous Human Combustion'. first time on planet Earth that a coroner returned such a verdict. I've been fielding calls all day....
"About" even, geez.
WTF? Seriously? I mean I've heard of that of course... seen stuff on TV about it happening. Scary! I'd really like to know what causes that to happen to a person?
agree, that would be frustrating Neil, to be in places where you'd enjoy spending a bit of free time
Yup!! That was the verdict returned by the coroner for Galway yesterday......
the re5/14 plz
I don't think it's the first time on planet earth, no. That's a rare phenomena but has been known to happen and I'd assume, has been documented. Must've been because there are plenty of articles about it.
If you google spontaneous human combustion galway inquest, you shoud get the gorey details....
Oh for your area or possibly even your country, yes... that's very likely.
p
Its the first time that any coroner anywhere on earth returned such a verdict at an inquest!
br

The international interest it has generated is incredible. I took calls today from the BBC, ABC, CNN and about a gazillion other news agencies.

hello GE, that's about all we ever see from the lurkers - or to be kinder, those who prefer to do the puzzle without chat
Michael Flaherty?
Shoosh.... Speak to us......
Thats the one, Neil!
some even cover the chat so they aren't distracted by it
hi
I feel very sorry for the family of the deceased. The loss of their loved on is overshadowed by the circumstances of his death.
I know that when I have words put in the box even if I check no chat..sometimes 2 letters are entered into the chat box...sorry..don't know how to fix it
not to worry shoo - others do it too
yes Soodle, the loss of a loved one is more than enough to handle, without added publicity
its not the chat box that I use..its the lickety add box that you put the words in that goes to the clue box. once again sorry.
Indeed Flosey. But the circumstances of this case were so bizzare, that they have caught national and international interest. Its easy for peope to lose sight of the fact that a loved one has been lost to a loving family.
baack
it happens to others too shooshoo
Soodle, that is definitely one to tell to the grand kids.
Hello JMC :-)
Well, we will see, Molls.
hi all
Molly, I found my sunglasses today. tyty
Hello Peri :-)
I knew you would Peri. : )
Wow!! Molly helped you find lost stuff?? Molly! Where the heck are my spare car keys???? And my D&G Light Blue perfume? And while you are at it, my marbles?
Molly and St. Anthony
taking a break, bbl
It's all Saint Anthony, Soodle. I just shout out a request.
Wow, tr7/32 sure winds it's way around the grid...
I've just read the article, Soodlebum. Doesn't say that it's the first time in the world such a verdict has been returned. It says "He [west Galway coroner Dr Kieran McLoughlin] said it was the first time in his 25 years of investigating deaths that he had returned such a verdict." It's happened before in various places too. I'd really like to know what could possibly cause that to happen to a live human being... it's very strange and scary.
Yes Neil, but its been established today that no other coroner in any jurisdiction has ever returned such a vedict. I spoke to the pathologist who did the PM today, and she was a bit non-plussed at the verdict..
Yep, firefly. That's a bendy/twisty one.
Oh? The article should have mentioned that. Or maybe it was written and published before that was known?
am6 pls
more am5 ;) or is there another?
more am5
ty Chrissie
yw peri
tr8 is a full circle word, whereas tr7/32 is a start in one corner, end in the other. Neat grid today!
It was all a bit sensationalist! And why not? There was no mention of global downturn, or recession, or war, or murder .....
ty firefly
Whoo-hoo, Chrissie. Congratulationa!
Given the circumstances, I can see why a coroner would use that cause of death. And I wonder if other corners have had similar circumstances presented to them, but not had the guts to go with that cause.
I would think so. I've just learned there have been many cases of this reported.... and recorded by town officials. People catching on fire and burning to death, with no observable cause. No smoking in bed, or candles catching clothing on fire, etc.
no soodle, not fireworks, just glad of firefly's clues. still need 103 here!
As a friend of mine just said: "Sometimes the chair or bed the body is found in is barely even touched by the fire. Which is really bizarre, because the temperatures required to reduce bodies to ash are tremendous."
Hmmm...... I think he (the coroner) has left himself very exposed. There are 2 distinct schools of thought on spontaneous human combustion. The ' I believe' and the I don't believe'.
Well Soodle, I would agree that he went out on a limb. But it sounds like he had good reason to do so.
Chrissie..... regard my post as 'advance congratulations'. You will get there!!!
ty Soodle, lol
That was probably the only verdict he could reach, after the case had been investigated thoroughly and no other probable cause of the bizarre incident and death was determined.
I read all the reports, Molls. The forensics were .....forensic! I won't go into gorey details... which were pretty graphic and unsettling... and Neil is right... the only conclusion was the one arrived at by the coroner.
I didn't say anything to the contrary.
No one said you did?
hi all, stuck on one of the re6/24 have the request payment again and the heat again. Third one?
To restart your computer, Mary.
Or kick someone or something again?
duh, am losing it... thank you
You're welcome. :)
Sheesh,ts Friday evening, I'm done with work for the week. Quick, somebody tell me a joke, or make me smile.....
I already lost it. Let me know if you find it.
Heading off to the pit now. Good nite all.
there were these two men in a bar at the top of a very tall building
hey i just started the joke
Well you can finish it... I'm listening.
:-D
me 2 jmc
one of them said: there is this amazing updraft on the side of this building you have got to see this
Uh night, Soodlebum. [was in another window]
so they went out on the terrace and the first man jumped off the building and the air buoyed him up and tossed him back on the terrace
the second man was amazed and said let me try it
so the second man jumped off the building and fell to his death
the first man went back into the bar and ordered another drink
the bartender said: man, superman, you are a mean drunk
Yeah, I'd need one too if I was him!
Oh geez! Haha.
haha
Rofl......... I had to stay on in lurk mode to see the punch line..... Ha ha ha Jmc..
lol - good one jmc
So the costume and cape didn't give him away? :P
one of my all time favorite jokes
I can never remember any decent jokes
he was dress up like clark kent
unfortunately most of the jokes i know are even longer than that one
Yeah, I figured.
Here's a short one. What do you call the useless piece of skin on the end of a penis?
A man.
<----100% convinced that if JMC, Molly, Assorted Stids, Ruby, Hego, et al met up here in Ireland.... the world would be a better place!
Gee thanks, Laura.
Tell me how you really feel? :P
haha because we would improve ireland? ;-)
LOL Fauxmage!!!
absolutely!!!
Ok, I'll tell you all a joke if you want?
haha
One of the best I've ever heard.
is it a negative joke? ;)
Go for it Neil!!
Haha!
Four friends, who hadn't seen each other in 30 years, reunited at a party. After several drinks, one of the men had to use the rest room. Those who remained talked about their kids.
The first guy said, "My son is my pride and joy. He started working at a successful company at the bottom of the barrel. He studied Economics and Business Administration and soon began to climb the corporate ladder and now, he's the president of the company. He became so rich, that he gave his best friend a top of the line Mercedes for his birthday."
The second guy said, "Darn, that's terrific! My son is also my pride and joy. He started working for a big airline, and then went to flight school to become a pilot. Eventually he became a partner in the company, where he owns the majority of its assets. He's so rich, that he gave his best friend a brand new jet for his birthday."
The third man said: "Well, that's terrific! My son studied in the best universities and became an engineer. Then he started his own construction company and is now a multimillionaire. He also gave away something very nice and expensive to his best friend for his birthday: A 30,000 square foot mansion."
*High fives to Faux for a great joke!*
The three friends congratulated each other just as the fourth returned from the restroom and asked: "What are all the congratulations for?" One of the three said: "We were talking about the pride we feel for the successes of our sons. What about your son?"
The fourth man replied: "My son is gay and makes a living dancing as a stripper at a nightclub.
"The three friends said: "What a shame... what a disappointment."
The fourth man replied: "No, I'm not ashamed. He's my son and I love him. And he hasn't done too badly, either. His birthday was two weeks ago, and he received a beautiful 30,000 square foot mansion, a brand new jet and a top of the line Mercedes, from his three boyfriends!"
wait for it
haha
haha, good one neil!!
Hahaha!
Yeah. I love it.
I've heard it before, but still funny!
Oh, ok. I'm sure it has made its rounds... it's a good one! I was sent it in an email a few years ago.
okay i must go figure out something for dinner bbl
be6/30 pls
Bye JMC ((Laters))
Take care, jmc.
Hello...
be6,30 -- most of something you ring, then a wall you block/stop up water with... a beaver's nest.
Hi Jellen.
FW
hi and bye Jellen
Congrats.
And you're welcome.
Great joke, Neil!
Congrats peri!
Thanks, Jellen... it's one that was sent to me in an email a few years ago. Added it to my archive of saved jokes because it's a keeper.
Yep. Even if they don't
Woops!
Never mind, geez... typed that in the wrong window anyway, haha.

much faster than FF or IE
okay in firefox and *blech* explorer i can open a little screen thingy and search a web page for letters or words -- how do i do that in chrome?
clue please for the 2nd il5/10??

il5 - as in mi6 but drop the m
sicker, flask
page
thanx all.....
yw
the star in the top right will save it and the little plus sign on the current open tab will access it
su6?
none of that was what i was asking for crossy but ty for the information
that should be an easy one, but even that one is evading me
ok,then i have no idea what you are asking for..sorry'
su - the gentleman who opens the door, takes your coat, etc - change first letter to s
haha np i found what i needed in the wrench
the su6 did it
guess the box thingy set me off in the wrong direction lol
but chrome is quite intuitive to use
sorry my description wasn't clearer
haha i am always afraid when someone says it is intuitive--intuitive to whom?
ok well i will quantify by saying i found it intuitive
now that is a fairer statement!
other users experience may vary with usage lol
i will make myself a nice little disclaimer macro lol
ti**out is a phantom
the statements made by crossy(hereafter known as the king of babble) in no way reflect babble or it creator or mirror any experiences of any one else on this spinning ball of dirt. any advice given or implied is subject to the use at own risk advisement and should be noted as such lol..

oh sorry that was tr7/36
32 is similar in meeting but more put downish
was never trampled, but was rendered deaf for a few hours at a goddo gig
if you have the tr6.21 double the last letter for the 7
don't let me tr7/32 your feelings crossy but the pb door is open and waiting for you

El**entary, my dear Watson + personal pronoun
im7 please?
ah finally i have been worrying that one all day
the only clue i saw for that was that im7 was im8 with the end cut off
im + past tense of what a criminal does in court...****s innocent or guilty
Hmmm...that would be helpful if I had the im8...
thank you ibd
exactly jell hahaha
Thanks, lbd!
im8 is one who does the im5
Thanks again, lbd!
okay i have the 7 let me try for the 8
I might just make halfway!
Maybe not...
*baffled*
go jell go!
the first ab5/14 please?
to walk across the top of a house or ab5/14
all i wanted all day was ab5 from the sun
im5, means to drive or move onward , incite
a big smile would be nice!
thanks got it
Hi all.
last br4 please even if it is a fish
hi jac! :-D
Hi, Jac
AB5/14 is a tree or ab + anagram lee
jmc - it's chilly, very cold!
br** it's cold outside
wasn't anagram lee a poem by edgar allen poe? ;-)
br4 is pretty cold no vowels
jmc - LOL
ty all
hee hee
*lights up the grill*
Poe always was beyond my ken
i am glad it is not i found out today the reason my radiators were making such horrible noises i had to turn the heat off was because the construction guys forgot to cap the radiator pipe after they cut it
want some home-made burgers, some fruit kebabs and stuff for that grill, jmc?
think i'm going to call it a night. see you all tomorrow
nevermore vanilla
G'night, lbd
yum jac that will go well wit all the fish i got today
niters lbd
poof
i dont like this grid
it is a challenge but not down right mean like that little one a few days ago
49 left
142 left.
or 5//12//
but i have all the 7's, 8's and 9's done so thats something
4.5 words left until halfway!
Oh, I had that situation, jmc, when I first moved into this house over 30 years ago. That people had removed the back bo6/24 in the fire but forgotten to cap off the pipe in the airing cupboard. When we set a fire in the grate steam started em4ing from upstairs. We thought things were on fire to start with! Could have been worse, since they'd pinched the end of the pipe quite tightly - might have exploded.:-(
yikes jac!
this is funny bo5/16 is a soft roundish mass. In dutch its what a poo on the ground is called but also a round curly pastry lol
it was kinda sad though cause it was pouring rain and the plumber could figure out why there was no pressure until he went out and saw all the hot water pouring down the side of my house
be 6/30
they say it to a baby ahhh you've done a bo5 good boy
please :)
blech that would not make me inclined to that pastry
madhouse with the center letters switched
I'm talkng way back, perhaps Sprite wouldn't even know the word
be6.27 is a Church official in UK. Sounds like a type of hunting dog but different 2nd consonant.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
hi min
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
bo5.16 simply means a 'ball' of something.
yeah true a large pill
did someone clue the be 6/30 i wasnt payin attention sorry
be6/27 - be4/7 - round thing often making up a necklace or a part of your gym sweat + French word for the masculine.
Cos - I've clued it twice now, so if you don't get it - hard luck!
madhouse with the center two letters switched cosd
thanks jmc
thining..
but jac you are cluing the be6/27 not the be6/30
bi5 please
i dont need the be 6/27 though jac :)
be6/30 sounds like, to an Italian, it might be a beautiful woman.
oh good clue jac
bi5 is like the yi5 you do when you bow down to an enemy force.
thanks got it!
Thanks jmc.
ty jac
y/w both.
su 6 please
the su6 did it
there is only one B in the grid right?
lol good clue jm
thanks
correct cosd
ty ru and yw
okay then i dont see hwo the last be4 is possible lol ughhh
oh never mind i see it now
because it isn't a true word
lol :)
;
argh! sorry sorry sorry
It's a fancy car, jmc - when y our cat has stopped prancing about on your keyboard.
hahahaha
*puts paper bag over head in shame*
It's also a Chruch word, apparently.
i think you are confusing it with a be**er
Glad it's not a platic bag,. jmc. Babble's not worth dying for!
no no just paper so you won't see me blushing
My fingers or my keyboard now seem to not be working.:-(
Or is it brain to fingers to kyboard?
brb...need dessert!
LOL
the be4/7 after ursa?
Jellen - glad you need a pud and not a sand coered waasteland.
jmc - old word for lover or a man who pays court to a lady.
My pithy comments would look so much better if they were typed correctly!
ah ty ty
Jac, don't be saying Jellen needs a pud. That could be GROSSLY misinterpreted.
nah we get your pithy remarks spelled correctly or not
Chocolate pudding...
of course if you are complaining about some one misspelling or a grammatical error. . .
Jellen for the save.
Molly - what does 'pud' mean over the pond then??
Let's just say it could be misconstrued and leave it at that. La, la, la...happy Jellen with her chocolate pudding.
*Wonders if she is about to get a revelation like the UK folks did when they asked what wank meant?*
Unhappy Jellen with her pudding all gone :-(
means the same thing jac
Oh - no explanation. That's a disappointment!
poor jell
jmc - really??? That's a new one on me.
no they both mean male body part
Drinking water now...trying to be good!
evening all
Hi, jes
you inspire me jell to get a club soda
hi jes
Wank doesn't mean male body part. Does pud mean pe5?
Hi Jess.
yes
heh. wank is something you do to a male body part though :)
my mistake i was confusing wang
I just learn all sorts of things in Babble!
jmc - OH! Didn't know that. Must warn any British girls going to USA not to enthusiastically ask for pud after dinner. Bet the GI's invented that word after being Over Here in WWII! The swines!
Jellen - you'd be surprised what you can learn here.:-/
i wouldn't worry about it jac it is not a very common usage
"enthusiastically ask for pud after dinner"...ah well, there goes all the water all over the monitor.
and i suspect you are correct concerning the origins
Sorry Molly!
I need four more words to meet my goal!
i think if they ask for pudding they will be okay--but disappointed because they will be served custard
jmc - I'm pretty sure I'm right!
No worries Jaq. I was still somewhat wet from my walk in the rain. : )
omg! THATS IT! STOP THE WORLD AND LET ME OFF!!..cough,back for a second as i just discovered that kinder eggs are not legal in united states!!..but i can live in texas and arm myself like clint eastwood in a spagetti western!...byeee...poink! http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/21/e aster-reminder-kinder-eggs-banned-in-t he-united-states/
Molly - I won't even try to reply to that in decent or adult form, since this is a family site.
oh i loved kinder eggs
crossy! don't get hit by a satellite, okay? :)
Hi Crossy. Why on earth would kinder eggs be important to yuor life continuing??
Aha! I passed the halfway point!

Trif! Hi!
hi trif!!!!!!
hey all. I am supposed to be sewing, but I need a wee break
When's that bus-sized piece of space junk supposed to hit us and WHY don't 'they' (whomever they are) know where it's going to land?
hi trif :)
have not seen you for ages
Hi Trif - unless you're Scottish, a wee break means you need the loo.
secondo broke my laptop, jmc, and my babble time has been severely truncated
i would guess bad secondo!
Spare a thought for elephants! Truncated is very painful thing for them.:-)
she felt AWFUL....but I feel worse, me thinks
must he pay for the repair?
jac you are on a tear tonight
*she
she paid for the new screen, which I installed, but now windows wont run. I need to get it fixed, but can't afford it just now
how clever of you to install a screen
Yup, jmc. Beloved finallyu got made redundant from his job today.
jacula, i am so sorry to hear that news. What is his field?
ah too bad jac-- herin is suffering the same thing i think
meanwhile i am working for 6 hours a week at $10/hour :-(
I'd be lying if I said he wasn't upset and in need of a big hug when he got home. However, I have to keep him upbeat.
(i mean herin's beloved was made redundant)
well a big hug is a start
jmc - at least you ARE working an earning something.
true it just covers the cost of gas to go to school
It seems the 2011 thing across the world, just like back in the 70s, is take a job, ANY job.
JMC, couldn't you be drawing more on unemployment than that?
i couldn't do that to the center molls--it would cost them a fortune
I've been discounting jobs with small pay, too. But, unless I can persuade Beloved that we can earn money together, I'm not sure what we'll do.
i think what is likely to happen to me is i will start up my own nonprofit or consulting when i finish the masters
Oh...too long of a thing to go into now. Employers pay into unemployment on a continual basis. Former employees drawing unemployment does not cost them anything. Unless that is different for non-profits.
it is different for nonprofits molls--they can opt for self-insured
well religious ones can
jmc, why are you needing a masters if you are already a jd?
it is a masters in conflict transformation (resolution) and will open some new doors for me
I can't even volunteer for Meals on Wheels in my ar4 right now, since this service (which provides hot meals at lunch time for all oldd people in the UK) seems to have moved from the Women's Vo;unta\ry Service to council run and private run things that make the old folk pay, and there's nothing in my ar4 any longer, though there once ws.
ahhh...well done you!
and actually moll when someone claims unemployment the rate goes up for the for profit employers as well
wow, people are PAYING for meals on wheels?? jeez
i don't understand that jac--they turned it into a for profit meals on wheels
that sucks
if Rick Perry had his way . . .
i paid for my mother but i got her gourmet meals
and jac and une and i will sulk in the pb together
don't even say his name une!
numbers being fed in our soup kitchen continue to rise . . . and it's not even winter yet
jmc - I don't understand it either, but it seems that they did. Buget for meal is £1.23 - cost of meal = £2,36 or thereabouts.
we will have to come up with a nickname for him
285 one day last week . . .
so they are at least subsidized?
lord une!
To be paid monthly up front. That is NOT the in the spirit of what the service began as!
yep
well part of the point is to have someone come by regularly jac so at least that part is still true
homeless and working poor but mostly homeless
ummm . may i have a hint for the top right u please?
u + peruvian animal
hey, trif :-)
thank you une
yw :-)
next month Room in the Inn kicks in -- local churches provide dinner, overnite, washing machines, showers, and sack breakfast -- thru March
gads, I wish the dog would just LIGHT someplace already! round in a circle, round in a circle, sit, nope...round in a circle, round in a circle....
but we're located downtown and will continue to have rising numbers of clients
Yes, the point is to have someone regulrly come by, but also to provide one hot meal - main and pudding.
Meals on Wheels is still subsidized here and free to clients (who work thru a social worker)
Trif - that's what dogs do! They need to tr7/36 a nest out for the night.
we have hard wood, jac, so he has his work cut out....
hard wood? Surely that's grid word eb4?
another great icon pic, trif!
thanks une
Une - I think the UK had declined re helping out older members of society, and I think that is despicable.
i'm really shocked to hear that's happening in the UK, jac
awww, check ouit Google'shomepage -- honoring Jim Henson's 75th birthday

yep
the tile stats gives you clues to where the words begin
yep :-)

and the word stats give you clues as to how long the words are
Hello Alohablue! How are you? Welcome to Babbleland.
clue for su6/21 please?
tks.....friendly help, much appreciated, thanks min
unfortunately you picked a day with a hard grid but if you want clues you can as for them just like flask did

su6 rhymes with the servant who greets at the door
we are a friendly crowd aloha
su6/21? what kind of clue is that?
good one, jmc LOL
thanks jmcnrick
well if you look at the items below the tile stats you will see a link to lickerty's list
another strange weird word!!
this lists the first 2 letters of each word in the grid and gives the letter count and the points
That word starts with su, is 6 letters long and worth 21 points Alohablue. That's how we ask for clues here.
thanx Unea and jmc......
speaking of strange, how about that ti7/36?!
so su6/21 is a 6 letter word that has 21 points
yeah the ti7 is as odd as the come une

home is highly overrated... unless I assign it of course! LOL
I am WELL! I have my first substitute teaching assignment lined up for next week, and I am SO EXCITED about it!!!
hi again. I have 131 words left and won't finish I guess
of course, subs often teach things they are not really trained for, so I will be taking over for a physical education teacher... LOL
go nef go!
oh. and I did NOT eliminate my offspring this afternoon, though it was tempting! *grin*
WTG, stid! Is it all week long; could it last longer?
Oh thats great....I wish you every success with it!!!
glad to hear stidkid is still alive
it is only for one morning next week, which I think is perfect, given my bad hip... LOL I plan on doing such a great job that all the teachers will be lining up to hire me!
hope stidkid is chastened as well
Glad to know your son is still among us, stid!
oh he is, jmc! VERY chastened.
trying to remember if i had supper

oh yeah curried chick peas
did he have an explanation for why he left?
*rummages pb for jack*
doesn't sound very apetising....
he wasn't thinking, Nef -- he knows it was wrong, and I think he won't do it again
what did he do?
he left school to go home with his girlfriend who was taken ill (the grandmother picked them up and stayed with them) -- but it's a "closed campus" and students are not to go elsewhere unless signed out by a parent.
I'm glad he learned a lesson
no it was good flask it was just a really long day
me too -- and he got back only a little late for his next class (after I chewed him out over the phone) so it wasn't as bad as it could have been

I see.....
now jmc....I could that!!!
so he is grounded (no unsupervised extracurricular activities) for the next couple weeks.
other than that... he was pretty un-nerved by it all, so I think he has figured it out.
how old is he?
you could do what flask?
well, I don't give out my kids ages, but he really is old enough to have known better, and young enough to lack the "what will the consequences be" sensitivity
