hello all - lovely sunny morning here - a little breezy but lovely after 3 days of pelting rain
howdy Ursh!
heyurshy
nice to see the sun, huh? rain is good....but we also need the sunshine.
hey rose - rain was much needed after a fairly dry winter - so yes spring has certainly sprung
I am waiting for the local troop of vervet monkeys to produce their new babies - they are so cute - like little aliens - but then they grow up and become just as much of a nuisance as their parents (hmm sounds like our kids)

hey peach, that one had me hung up too. keep going up, the criminal was co*****ed to death
chog playing up again. peach we're not ignoring you, hun
Yes, thanks much, rose. Hope you are well today.
thanx, peach, hun. doing better. and you...how are things with you?
I'm OK tonight. Went to a concert last night....had heaps of fun.
That does seem to help when I am around a lot of people.
oh, which concert?
It was a "Bluegrass" concert. Don't know if you are familar with bluegrass or not.....comes from the Appleachean (sp) mountains.....that type of music is said to have been brought here from Ireland and Scotland. If you want to hear some of the songs...you can go to utube and type in Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. He is on with Barry Gibb (the last of the BeeGees).
Rose, the only thing I miss in Conn. is not being able to go to the casinos.....they bring in creat bands.....Simon and Garfunkel, The Eagles, Johnny Mathis and many more.
brb
peach, i really like bluegrass, in fact i like the good in all music. i have quite an eclectic music collection. my parents loved swing, early 30's and 40's, i loved 50's, 60's, and early 70's....my kids liked late 70's. 80's and 90's.
then because i was taught piano through to grade5, and learnt ballet until i was 16, the classics come into the picture as well.
That sounds great, Rose. My oldest daughter took dance lessons starting at 2 1/2 years old. She was constantly tripping over her feet and someone suggested that dancing lessons would be helpful....and they were. She took lessons for 9 years. She was pretty good....I had wondered if she would want to teach someday. But then she discovered BOYS.
rofl....i know.....i discovered nursing, much to my mother's chagrin.
my mum so wanted me to enter the Australian Ballet School. but nursing beckoned. i don't think she has ever really forgiven me for that decision.
Funny how things always come around, isn't it?
But what you wanted was wonderful....just think how much you have contributed to so many.
thanx for that , peach. and your daughter, where is she at, now?
Ac 7?
ac7, first card in deck + footdigits, anagrammed
She is happily married to her 4th husband and is a grandmother also.
acetoes
sorry
lol, almost, peach...i did say anagram.
Damn, I sure hope she is happy! LOL
so that makes you a great_grandmother, peach, at the tender age of?????
Yes, you did, hon. I was just typing in the wrong place again.
74....there wasn't a lot to do in the town that I grew up in....so most of the girls married early. Actually, I needed a car. I can't believe I actually said that. LOL
rofl, peach
let'ssee, if i make it too 74, Deacon will be 18...hmmm...in today's society, i might be a great-granny then.
It is so nice to hug them and spoil them and give them back to Mommy and
Daddy.
How many children do you have,
Rose.
I probably should go to bed, don't you think?
sorry, peach, between us 6
I guess you get really busy before Christmas, eh?

I just walked away
we're supposed to go out to lunch in 15 mins, but if he doesn't apologize, I'm not going
no good snarling over the soup

I'm not a good snarler
the first de6/24 sounds like a useful verb just now!
haha
what do you think I should do? He just telephoned me and said he'd be waiting in the car.

I just got into the car and didn't speak \til we got to the restaurant on the lake and then I acted like nothing had happened
what's the point?
two points. 1. your feeling of self-worth. 2. training.
yea..i was thinking a beef stew with dumplings
sounds good to me, carlee
he's too old to be trained and my self-worth is OK, just don't feel like "beating a dead horse"
always your self worth ruby...first and foremost
and arguments always end the same way, with swear words and no changes
I know I'm right, so what's the difference
ok..driving son to a buddy;s... back in a few ( still in my jammies even....just throwin on the sunglasses...some lipstick and a jacket..no one will know)
I think he only gets really nasty when he knows he's wrong
if you feel ok with it, ruby, it is fine :)
and I don't mean 'training' literally. I respect both you and Burt. But yes, even he can learn he won't get what he wants by being nasty to you.
it started because I said he didn't know what he was talking about (and he didn't) but instead of listening to me, he just got angry
old dog, ndw tricks.....

I only get upset when his change of mood takes me by surprise
sometimes something we say can come across much harder than we intended and the other person closes up and just becomes defensive.
part of that is because in order for him to hear me, I have to use a hard voice
good morning everyone:0
{{crossy}}
morning crossy...( son doesnt need to go for a bit yet)
<-- whining about DH for a change.....
feast or famine crossy
((ruby)) ((sprite)) howdy carlee
feast
yes, that is true. And even though he does not really show it, he is incredibly sensitive. So if you feel a bit of irritation and you use a hard voice because you have to, he will probably feel insulted. Even though that never was your intention.
just don't get caught speeding, carlee, so you don't have to get out of the car
oh no... i will be turning on the heated seats....crap its cold
hiya crossy! *huggggs* I am sending you so many good hugs that your feeling of being empty cannot last.

wb ((ruby))
hi Ruby
to 5/12 heavy weight + last word in wedding vows
thanks Luv
back, had to feed animals
yw
hah, that is EXACTLY the clue I was about to give
great minds think alike, mael :)
gi7 is like the French word for sunflower tourne +sun
pups start giving me woeful look two hours before dinner
true, luv :)
though this great mind is a little stuck at the moment
yeah, I'm slowing down too
65 invisible words left
Dr.g is playing with us again
76 here ruby
These days, the word words in the wedding vows are "might."
hello flosey
amen, BR!
61 for me
unfortunately seems to be true BR
and neither of us said "I do" when we got married
Yes Br
BR: your profile picture reminds me of a Leonard Baskin portrait (anybody else old enough to remember him?)
all I had to say was "oui" LOL
Now it's I dont
bonjour une
salut, ruby :-)
We, Une, there were two of you.
my aunts were shocked, shocked!, that I could get married and not promise to honor and obey
obey was not in our wedding vows - 51 years ago
nor in mine, either time lol
but you probably didn't get married in Italy, where they are still in most wedding vows today :)
we used cherished vs obey
nice, crossy
wedding vows are like oaths of office ... they get broken everyday
wow, someone should speak up there!
that sounds familiar crossy, but I really can't remember exactly how it was worded - just definitely not obey
home
Oh bother . . .
I actually don't remember the exact words of our vows either... and we got married three months ago
hi rosalie
The candidates promise things and they work for a bit and them down the drain they go
and do you promise(insert name here) to love, honor and cherish each other as long as you both shall live, till death do you part
oh and forsaking all others
see/ i was listening:))
yes, I do remember that
Answer..no
19 years married for the mrs and i on oct first;)
engaded for a year before that and dating a year before that;)
congrats, cross!
she proposed..crossy is shy:))
when we said our i do's the ceiling in the back of the church fell, no lie! think that was a sign.. that and the blizzard
wow ivesy, guess that evacuated the church in a hurry
Twas bryllyg, and ye slythy toves Did gyre and gymble in ye wabe: All mimsy were ye borogoves; And ye mome raths outgrabe.
should have ended the wedding lol..
just read your bio, ivesy, love and prayers with you all
ty flosey... my son has an apt. with his psychitrist on oct 1 for evalutaion to see what they are going to do.. .he needs to get to the root of his problems .
will be thinking of you and him, ivesy - I know it's been a long, difficult time
that is good news ivesy, trust they will get him the help he needs
good luck to him and your family, ivesy
he wont address his prob. which is that his father wont have anything to do with him becuz he is an addict. jason wouldn do what he wanted and they havent spoken in quite some time.
ty all for your prayers and thoughts
hope your hubby will be made to realize this is a sickness, not something one starts out with the intention of doing
will be thinking of you and your son, ivesy
and if the first dr doesn't help, there's nothing wrong with shopping around a little
(((Ivesy))) you and Jason are often in my thoughts.
i had believed that he would help, . he was a drug enforcement agent with the sheriffs dept. thought he would know how to help. but he just lectured. and that is something a drug addict doesnt listen to.i have learned things like this the hard way. but i have learned. and if they dont place him somewhere i think i will ask if they can put me somewhere lol!
hola molly!
yes ruby, lots of drs. thru the veterans. and ty molly
And you're right Ivesy, he has to get to the root of the problem. The addiction is a byproduct of that problem.
sometimes behavior modification therapists, though not the most exalted in the profession, can help a lot
thats what i am hoping for. this place we hope he goes to is more of a mental health facility. they live there , counseling . etc. what he needs. and i need the peace
and might help you cope, ivesy. Years ago I went to one to help ME deal with the problems of my then-companion
You definitely need the peace.
sounds like a plan, ivesy, I hope it works out!
ivesy3 ... http://tinyurl.com/9j8ozrs
PEACE FOR ALL OF US!!!
Babble Rabble: you didn't answer any of my (nosey) questions regarding your wonderful profile picture
for sure ruby peace!!!
I think Ivesy might have written that article. : )
Ruby, true
You are somewhat of an expert on caregiver burnout, aren't you Ivesy? : )
I'm sorry if I was being too intrusive, but I love the picture!
The answer is I have no idea
:(
20 years of taking caring of him. learning the ropes day to day. going from thinking things would make him happy. i know better now. i am no longer in denial.

Hi Scrab
Hi Boo. What are you up to today?
Not much..babbling
Is it a nice day? Can you be outdoors later?
I'm here Scrabbler... good morning.
hi scrabs! I am multitasking.
It is cold here..but warming up
Hi Christa and Sue. I decided to read the paper, shower, then get on the computer. Sunny day here with high to be 72.
sunny here too, high close to 80!
.. and I'm back with a hot bowl of zapped leftovers.. gorgeous day, still a bit cool (60) - hi Scrabbs and Boo and sue and Christa
Wonderful, Sue!
hi aloy!
Hi Aloy
Hi Aloy
20 more hrs of being on call. I started Thursday at 5pm.
home they are quiet for you, Scrabbs
Nice weather and a football game (Bills vs Chiefs) help. Parents spend less time obsessing about their kids' health if the weather is nice.
Stats for the B word please?
bh5.16 Scrabbs
B plus what the owl says
I tried 2 bh5's so far
OK, TY. I tried bhoti and bhori
It's a strange word scrabbs
Scrabs, I don't envy you having to deal with all the overly obsessive parents. That must take a lot of patience.
MUCH patience! Therefore I must restrain my frustration and NOT say, "And why are you calling me NOW about this problem?"
When the office is closed our priority is deciding if a child needs to go to the ER. Discussing ongoing constipation or spitting up formula or behavior problems should wait til the ofc is open.
I can't believe people would call a doctor about such things. As if they are emergencies. Good Lord, does anyone have any common sense anymore?
No, common sense is uncommon. Someone called about head lice at 9 pm a few nights ago.

Fridays were always the most hectic day at our pediatrician's.. I would avoid making a regular appt. for a Friday bc it inevitably involved a long wait

They don't appear as words if you post them here, do they???
I am waiting for her to type a 7 or 8
Nope, xe
So, so funny!!!
well, we can not co7 her bc we have all done it at one time or another
We all do this but usually quite briefly

bye, scrabs!
wow.. turned out to be a fun grid tho I was slow catching on.. done.. any clues needed before I go?
how about a clue to NOT have started 47 words ago?
hey Aloyisius
hi there stid! (-:
how's life in the (north?) wherever you are at the moment
yay aloy!
and hi stid!
life is literally "cool" here in the north! And I love your dahlia! how are you doing, stid? subbing?
thanks Aloyisius! yes, subbing again this year, hoping to someday have a classroom of my own, but much more comfortable as a sub this time around.
subbing is tuff.. did it for seven years.. much better with your own classroom but subbing has its advantages too
usually I am in for a teacher with a cold, but this last time I was in for a teacher with a serious issue, which made things harder because the kids knew it. They were good kids, though, and we made it through
that can be tough, especially if the kids are fond of the teacher
I like that generally my evenings and weekends are free! LOL although I stayed two hours later at the school on Friday because my planning period had been taken up with problem solving for a student
well, it was also the end of the first full week of school... so they didn't have solid routines yet and they were just plain exhausted
yes, I had some assignments for long term and one that was so sad.. a young mother who died on the way home from work (asthma) and I completed the school year for her
my mom started out subbing before she went back to teaching kindergarten full time - had some tough assignments, some outside her area of expertise (K-4), including high school - she didn't like that much
oh, that is sad. Those poor kids, I am glad you were there, though.
Yes, I have subbed from preschool through 5th-year high school and it's always a big shift for me when I walk into a new classroom.
I don't mind most of it, but the littlest kids are the hardest for me physically.
sue, that is funny.. one of my best friends taught 1st- 3rd graders.. couldn't imagine HS.. and I couldn't imagine elementary..
I like the kids in the middle, 4th is about the youngest I actually can "enjoy" and 8-9th is the oldest I am qualified to teach.
has warmed up a bit and I need to git a goin.. shopping for plant saucers (big ones) so that I can drag in some houseplants before Jack Frost arrives.. nice chatting with you two - see you next time! ciao for now..
have not seen negative lately... maybe he is on assignment??
I have no skill teaching anyone under the age of 18...
sue, you would be BRILLIANT at it. If you can teach me about fancy blue lights, you can teach ANYONE!

still trying to find the runned down building/murder
ah, well that's less travel time, at least... though I always enjoy the community aspect of real-time in person classes, the travel time was always a drag for me.

FW Thanks for all the help. Were y'all on when I told about the Bluegrass concert I went to Fri. evening? Ricky Scaggs told us that Barry Gibb (The Beegees) contacted him and wanted Ricky to know about this really old song .....to fast forward...Utube..type in Ricky Scaggs and Barry Gibb....He performed at the Grand Ole Opry house in Nashville on July 27th....awsome.
awesome - even.
I think I'm an old hippie wanna be.
That's a different sound for Barry Gibb .
Sounds more like John Prine.
Really!
I think Robin's death dealt a heavy blow to Barry. Barry is the oldest of the four brothers.....his 93 year old mother thinks that she did something wrong. Makes you want to cry. Barry and Ricky did the one Barry brought over and then he sang one or two more. Now, if he (Barry) had been here....OMG just makes me wish I were 50 years younger.
No Mother should have to lose three of her sons.

That's good Nef. Men who are hungry should go in the kitchen and cook. : )
lol nef. not as scary as dating lol
I totally agree, Molly. Yesterday I drove us (DH, grandson, and myself) over to a small town in Wisc. that was having a BBQ contest and festival. None of us could eat their "small basket" of ribs;so I ate my leftovers a while ago.
LOL, TO! I can't even imagine dating in this day and age!
(I've been married too long to even remember what dating involved)
all i know is it is a femaile insect, i deleted the title when i saved it. i used to save interesting photos for icons when i was into it
According to Google it's a female jumping spider.
It's an interesting picture in that every eye is a different color; kind of an irridesent refraction? (but I don't know how to spell that)
As for dating, I would rather gouge my eyes out than go through that nonsense again.
The eyes remind me of scarab jewelry.
Wow, Molly. That's pretty drastic!
May I have the stats for that B please?
or a clue (not fussy anymore)
bh5/16...b + owl noise
thanks, Molly. :-)
I kept trying by...
I think it's a word that only the brainiac deluxe types would know.
or someone studying Indian mythology (from the definition)
How are you doing these days, Molly?
Not bad Nef, thanks for asking.
does the gi 8/50 build off the gi 7/36?
lol got it, nm
mistyped it first time
thanks for the stats, Luv! :-)
yw Nef
any clues needed, I just finished?
YAY, Luv! WTG!!!
thanks Nef!
molly: how can you google an image?
i did an image search on insects with four eyes.
ah...
I used to know how to find the source of an image; but sadly; I can't do that any more.
i saw youd that for BR's icon today and i wondered what the trick was
No, Sue did that for that image and I'm not sure how she did it. She must have typed some sort of description in.
sorry, i was just an interested observer at the time. i like being an interested observer better than chat these days
why is that, TO? I liked chatting with you in the past.
just suits me better, nef.
there was a way (in the past) where you could rt. click an image and then ??? google it??? or something and you'd find the source. But maybe that was so long ago it no longer works?
i must try that
well, it doesn't work for me anymore; I should ask my son about it again when I remember.
first pass at list from 33 to 11
nice job, TO!
I'm half way and keep having new words pop out at me
thanks nef. i have to go finish my chore, i took apart my pantry and have to pureg it mercilessly. procrastinating
Good Luck! Want to do mine too? (not that I have a real pantry; just cupboards....)
hi all!
Hi sue! How are you?
if you have the url for an image, you can paste it into Google's image search and it will find it (if it can)
I am ok, nef, Frank is not so good
I took my computer in to the Genius bar at the apple store and it works again! I'm so excited! :-)
What's the matter with your Frank?
so when I search on TO's image I find that it is a jumping spider
Frank's ulcers are acting up, he is pretty miserable
I'm taking him to the doctor tomorrow (assuming I can get an appointment)
and yay for your computer!
sending healing thoughts and prayers to Frank. I wish I could think of something to help.... ask for a culture for Heliobacter?
yes, they will probably do that
he doesn't have health insurance so has been trying to treat them himself
I know; you told me that. I'd kind of hope his doc could just skip the extra $ and give him the antibiotics; but I'm not sure if they'd do that or not (for ulcers)
yeah, that would be nice - and he's got some respiratory thing going on now too - but they will probably want to do tests anyway
I'm guessing that because they haven't responded to his self treatment; they are caused by heliobacter
Dang! I hope the respiratory thing isn't caused by the ulcers!
yes, that's my guess as well - he has finally gotten miserable enough to agree to go to the doctor, which means he's pretty miserable (of course he decided this on Saturday!)
Is that even possible? (ulcers causing respiratory problems)
it's possible; but more common on critically ill patients or if a person is bedridden. THe gastric juices can get into the lungs, causing resp. problems (including pneumonia)
hmmm, I hope not, but he's been reasonably active until the last two or three days
If he's up and around more than he's in bed that's good. Does he elevate the head of his bed?
yes, we have one of those Craftmatic beds
Excellent!
working in ICU for so many years; the research showed that keeping the head of the bed elevated helped prevent acid reflux into the lungs on critically ill patients.
Mayo Clinic: http://tinyurl.com/9yybvgx
ah, good to know.
Frank isn't critically ill; but to have his ulcer cause so much problems I'd worry about esphoagela irritation too
Hi BR
yes, I don't think ignoring it this long (or self-treating, at least) was the best idea
thanks, BR!
and thanks, BR for the link
Of concern? H. pylori bacteria can be passed from person to person through direct contact with saliva, vomit or fecal matter. H. pylori can also be spread through contaminated food or water. The infection is usually acquired during childhood.
Wow, just read through chog..uusue...get him to the doc! There are a lot of things that could be going on...
will do, jilly! there is a clinic in town that treats people without insurance, and I am going to call them first thing in the morning
BR, many people may have H pylori, but not everyone is symptomatic.
hey all, taking a short break from work.
hi, stid!
Man, I hate this country and it's screwed up medical care system....
Thanks, Jilly. I told sue to get him in when she and I met after her road trip
Hey stiddy!
hi stid!
and he's had ulcers before, jilly, and he says this feels the same
I finished my work and the grid. Been a busy weekend but all of it sitting on my butt...
yeah, nef, I've been arguing with him since then (I did get him another medicine - he was taking cimetidine and I got him some omeprazole as well, seemed to help)
Maybe he should not eat/drink after midnight in case they need to scope him
You can take up to 40 mg omeprazole twice daily
hmmm, I'll mention it to him - he's not eating much anyway as it hurts too much
good idea, Jilly; but he doesn't have an appt. yet either
Well, that way it won't slow down his diagnosis waiting to test.
That's a good idea jilly -- sue I am sorry Frank doesn't have insurance. I know what it's like to have medical issues and feel you can't go in.
they say "same day appointments are available" but I don't know if that means every day
uusue, does he take any NSAIDs like aspirin, motrin, advil, etc?
there's a walk-in clinic here too but they're more expensive
no, jilly, he doesn't take any of that
Whew!
true. And if he isn't eating much right now anyway.... And you (Jilly) are the one who knows more about scoping people than I do...
you guys should not have to endure health care like that:((((
with the celiac he's really careful and doesn't take much of anything unless he really needs to (allergy meds if the cat has slept on his face :-)
Yep, see it M-F...
you are right, crossy!
LOL, and with bowel disorders it might be something completely different
he's not running a temp is he sue?
Crones
we get sick we go to walk in or hospital,we need tests, they are ordered,we need specialists, the appt is made, regardless of income
I filled out an immigration questionnaire, crossy (not an official one, something from some Canadian lawyer)
I don't think so, stid, maybe a little from time to time but not consistently
I know, but crossy, someone from canada attended a Conference I was at last weekend and was really dissing the Canadian system...I guess you can't please everyone
we all pay at tax time and it is there for you forever
crossy, you should see the ads here in MN about the "lousy" health care in Canada from the Republicans, claiming that "Obama care" is heading us down the path of socialized medicine...
i am here and alive only because of our provincial health care
I know quite a few Canadians (including, but not limited to, the ones here on Babble) and I have never heard one that I know personally say they would rather have our system than theirs
my 3 rounds of cancer all inclusive would of been aprox 200 thousand dollars in the states
Well, can't have adequate health care since our leaders??? prefer sending young men and women to die and get injured in foreign lands
my immune system shots alone were 300 dollars each, daily
yep. I have decided that if I am ever diagnosed with cancer I will work as long as I can and then just enjoy what time I have with my family. I refuse to bankrupt my family to prolong my life.
yes,1 trillion would of got you a nice health care system
I'll bet they would have been a lot more than that, crossy, one of my neck surgeries was about $60k and I've had three of them (all covered by insurance, fortunately)
There was a bus accident of MN senior citizens several years ago up in Manitoba. Not one of those patients had to pay over $100 out of pocket; Canadian health system covered everything
yup
I have health insurance, but with the limits and co-pays we couldn't afford it. I am really good with math, btw, so it's not like I don't understand the way it works.
I don't know what it is going to take to get our system fixed. I am continually amazed with the fear mongering "health care will be rationed" exactly WHAT do you think we have now? It's us working people under-insured or not insured...we choose not to take treatments because they are too costly!!
I switched from a PPO to an HMO three or four years ago, just before my last neck surgery - saved me thousands
we all pay at tax time ..period.that way it is there when we need it.now,it is far from perfect, but it is available to all, anytime
co-pay was $175, tests were all covered, doctor co-pay was $15
We met our yearly deductible for copays by June 1 this year. Now we are covered til Dec. 31st; so I'm finally going to have the hand surgery I've put off for 3 years (arthritis of the hand below the thumb)
What annoys me is that if people have reliable health insurance they take care of things (usually) before they are very costly. It costs ALL of us in increased premiums because we end up paying more to cover the "free" ER care.
when i was first diagnosed with my seminoma,my doctor picked up the phone and called his cancer buddy in the city,he cleared his morning 2 days later to see me and before the week was out i was on the operating table.i waited for nothing
exactly, stid!!!!
Glad you are getting that done, Nef!
Our insurance...we didn't even meet our deductible last year even after DH was treated at Mayo...over $40,000...but it was outpatient...
Amen stiddy!
i feel so bad for you all down there;(((
I'm so P.O.ed by people who tell me "I'm healthy; I don't need health insurance!"
We have an HMO and one of those things where we pay money as pre-tax. Because we have already spent all the pre-pay money this year we are putting off some dental things and other medical stuff until January.
wow Jilly.
One slight mistake driving and they end up with thousands and thousands in medical bills
The only good thing is that most of the bill was covered by the insurance...
the nearest i can figure with obamacare is he is trying to bring you half way to state/universal health care.his set up is much like our ontario hospital insurance plan of 3 decades ago.it was govt provieded and geared to income, then the next step was universal health care
Of course, we are not pursueing testing DH for early alzheimers because the test is $7000...cash up front with no guarentee the insurance will pay any of it...
Good evening Babblers. How is Babbleonia tonight?
Problems: politicians who prize power more than their constituents. They like the campaign contributions and are in bed with the insurance industry and big pharma. Big Pharma has too much influence in setting health care policies. Both big pharma and the insurance companies are accountable to there shareholders and not all Americans. Corruption is of no concern because our leaders need the campaign funds and the insurance industry and big pharma can pay billion dollar settlements as a cost of doing business.
yeah, I never got tested for the breast cancer gene for the same reason (insurance company told me they'd pay for it if I got breast cancer!!!)
the first time universal health care was proposed to the voters we killed yourselves running to their offices to vote yes lol
BTW, my DH was a Federal Employee; and his health insurance is one of the same options available to any Federal Employees (including members of Congress, etc.) We chose something with payments and a deductible that we could afford;
hi wht, I have started a health insurance discussion :-)
Not to mention that I am in the group Romney/Ryan want to switch to voucher system "those nearing retirement" that are 'safe' are ONE DAMN year older than me...I have been working since I was 17
*gets off soap box now*
so,you are saying there is no way out of this evil cycle br?
You seem to have hit a nerve there sue.
our retirement is now 67:(
Oh BR, you are so correct...the pharmacuetical and insurance companies are the resident evil....
BR, you are hearing no arguments from me -- it is so difficult sometimes to be hopeful when it seems the people making the decisions are least affected by them.
I don't expect to retire. <-- full stop
Well, mine is supposed to be too
i expect to dies in harness
Yes, I'd love to putter part time for the foreseeable future, I love my job...
I retired at 49 :)
Not unless Americans decide to be less partisan and make themselves the top priority rather than a budget nuisance
Oh, don't talk to me about insurance...lol
phone...bet you're all glad...JJ will be quiet
Hello all!
of course, I LOVE teaching and can't imagine not doing at least some teaching now for the rest of my life... (reserving the right to change my opinion later).
Obama had his hands tied by Congress and lobbyists from the Insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. That's the same thing that happened with the medicare bill covering meds. The Federal Government couldn't bargain with group rates....
((((firefly)))) was thinking of you today, how's the smoke over there?
;(
Stop killing people overseas and saving people at home
start saving...
Smoke is pretty thick to look at, but amazingly not bothering my latent asthma. Need a good wind storm!
i sw your total for all that warfare,1 trillion and choked!
I never thought i would retire either, but when I had to declare bankruptcy decided that I would since I could afford it (of course now I am working for another year....)
I agree there BR
It's a matter of opinion as to whether Obama has his "hands tied" or has chosen not to act aggressively.
with all the heads available to vote down there, you guys have to get the right people in the right place to bring universal health care about
glad the smoke isn't being awful for you, firefly, I took some diphenhydramine today to boost my regular allergy meds because we have some smoke in the air. So far, haven't needed my inhaler, though!
I was sorry they took the single payer option off the table - since the Republicans weren't going to vote for the bill anyway, why not leave it in?
okay -- Tom is home and I should think about supper. Back later. *poof*
actually, the president's intent and what he was able to ultimately do is a matter of record.
Bye stiddy
do not waste obama.we would love him up here.you can have our pm lol
I'm back...and uusue you voiced my sentiments exactly!!
I do not care about labels ..... our leaders our failing us and we watch like sheep ..... listening to liars and expedients who have not interest in our welfare
Yes, and then we re-elect them.
are failing
We'll never get universal health care if Romney & Ryan win the election. Probably will not get it if Obama wins.
Second there BR
same here, sue and Jilly. Partisan politics have ruined how this country works.
that is a sad thing min
We missed that boat...
And crossy, I believe that it cost the US a trillion a year for the Iraq and Middle East fiasco (for the past 11 years?
I told my congressional delegation to their faces they violate their oaths of office everyday ..... they get rich, divorce and remarry go on trips and gasbag ad nauseum ...
Crosshair, getting the right people into the right places means getting the right people in congress and senate.
They were reluctant to agree with me.
I bet BR!
Unfortunately,President, democrat or republican, has to go through those people to get anything accomplished.
IT is sad what has happened to our government. NPR said the other day that our Congress has operated more like a Parliment and it won't be a democracy anymore if we continue down this route.
ok, I have added the is6 to the physics babblets (it's really a weather term but I figure that counts) and am going to go collapse. I'll keep you all posted.
Bye sue
Take care, sue. I hope Frank gets in and gets some help tomorrow
Niters uusue, you and Frank take care..keep us posted!
The press is purportedly our watchdog ... to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable .... instead they use their pulpit to promote political agendas ..... my local paper will not publish my letters to the editor
(((firefly))) I just read your profile. I hope your lawyer will be able to make the insurance company pay!
Sorry, I am done
Oh, man, BR!!!
Thank you Nef, me too ;)
Have you noticed how many political pundits there are these days and no one is really thinking about where this country is going?
The press is not inclined to voice alternate opinions when they are biased towards one candidate. And our press is definitely biased towards one candidate.
Just now read it firefly..perfect example of what is wrong with insurance. And why we need single payer system...HELL, give us the same program our legistlators have!!
You know it is funny. Conservatives think that the press has a liberal bias but liberals think it has a conservative bias.
And hence my point that healthcare in this country IS rationed....
Yes, Hannity, drudge and limbaugh have been very straightforward
Guess we'll all just have to wait until November...that and mute the TV commercials...
I used to get so many emails from my step mother about all sorts of wild statements about "Obamacare." I asked her if she ever READ the Affordable Health Care Act and I told her to do so; it takes less time that most cheap fiction paperbacks. She must have read it because I no longer get the lies any more
In one denial letter, insurance actually mentioned they have to consider the other payers when deciding to deny ME. Aren't I paying into just as much as the next person?? Really, my life just didn't qualify today, huh?
Jilly, the legislators have the same choices of insurance that my DH has; it's just they can afford higher options than us.
*shudders*...so damn frustrating (((firelfy)))
Even if I don't have a song in my heart, I found one in the grid.
firefly; that is abhorant! No wonder the lawyer accepted your case!
Nice break there wht...lol
Cute wht ;)
Nef, he was the only I could find that wanted or knew halfway how to try the case...
I suggested to my representatives that all who run for elective office must as a condition precedent be homeless for three months, go without health insurance and volunteer at soup kitchens and the like
OMG...what a great thought!
I totally agree, BR! And then after their terms in office are over; there should also be a clause where they can't be lobbyists or re-elected for 10-15 years..
or BR, if they are to receive their paycheck, they have to work for it.
Any President, whether democrat or republican, needs to be in office for 8 years in order to get anything done.
at least 50 weeks out of the yeqar.
And let's not even get into their retirement plans....
there's a lot of rumors about legislators getting the same pay for retirement as when they were in office, Jilly. Here is a link to the truth
It's just they get it for working such a short time....unlike me. Like I said, I started working as an aide when I was 17...
I disagree. Many Presidents have gotten a lot done in their first four years. And legislator retirement plans are obscene.
clue for the first co7 please
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c\n/congressionalpensions.htm and here: http://www.politifact.com/rhode-island\n/statements/2011/may/29/chain-email/em\nail-message-says-members-congress-get-\nfull-pensi/
That co 7/40 word means to tear down an old building Nef.
sorry that took so long, I need to learn to spell when I try to find things fast
Oops! Another long link that messes up the chat log.
ty min.
I forgot about that n lurking in the top row.
Tried putting in that web address and got an error message
Sorry, what did I do Min?
Tiny url people, tiny url
It's okay Nef. Crosshair did it the other night too. You did not do anything wrong.
truthorfiction.com is a totally Obama biased web site.
Thank you Nef for informing us of what we need to know.
I admit poor knowlege of the tiny url...can you enlighten molly?
Copy a big url, go to tinyurl.com and you can get a shorter url
my view of chog didn't change any; I didn't know that it changed it for others.
And there's no way to fix this now, is there? I'm very sorry for that
It's okay Nef. It will go away when that post flushes off the chat page.
Firewords
Molly, I get such a kick out of so many people who say that Truth or Fiction or Snopes are biased to the left or right ; I've found so many sites that credit them with being neutral
WooT WooT WooT wht!!
YAY, wht!!! WTG!!!
My view has changed...can't see all of the posts..
okay, just a sec
never mind; that will take too long. :-(
And I now have tiny url on my bookmarks...thanks mols!
How about we start another political discussion...that'll clear the chog but quick
Look at the front page of truthorfiction.com. Every single link is a link to a story defending Obama.
;P
Well, with the smoke and working on computer all weekend, my eyes are really burning...so am going to *poof* hagn all!!
Molly, did you see the Note that says that the ads are are under the control of Google Ads, not TruthOrFiction.com, which is a non-partisan site.
I also use Factcheck.org; politifact.org, snopes, and about 12 others...
I'm not talking about the ads. I'm talking about the links to articles. And just for the record, I wouldn't be thrilled with a site that was biased towards Romney either.
niters, Jilly. I hope that the air clears up for you soon!
hmmm. I typed Open secrets and source watch there too. Wonder why they didn't post?
I love it when people send me political e-mails that say the e-mail is true because snopes.com verified it to be true. Then I check it out on snopes and it totally refutes what the e-mail says.
LOL! I get those all the time too, Min! (Usually from my step mother again)
Well good night all. Happy Babbling.
I keep hoping that my long link post will disappear, but it's still a long way from falling off the bottom of chog.
Niters, wht
Six more posts Nef : )
I get them from my husband's Cousin's and Uncles. Of course I can't just ignore those e-mails, which I should do. Instead I send them the snopes link refuting their e-mail. Then I give them a lecture about sending e-mails without verifying the validity of the e-mail. I am sure it pisses them off to no end!
I'm trying; but no one else is chatting now..
.
Pushing the chat down for Nef
Then I'm going back to lurking
:0
:)
YAY, nrkii!
Hello nrkii! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log
Min, you sound like me
I'm here to help, Nef. :)
Hi Min!
THank you!
6 more posts MollyL? I havesix more words to find so I could ask for 6 more clues. Never mind, it is finally fixed
It's gone! Is everything back to normal now?
Looks like you'll be he4/6ing from that Penalty Box nrkii.
Thank you all! Now I can go back to playing again. ;-)
I'm exempt. I haven't really started the grid, so I can't be penalized for using a word in the grid that I hadn't looked at. (It's in the fine print.)
I have story in my profile for those who are not finished
LOL, nrkii! Good point
You're excused, especially since U pushed chog down
wow, I didn't think that would work... you guys are easy
anyone who can get me out of a jam is okay by me. I'll follow those rules tonight
:)
I feel like it must be 11PM; but it's only 9:30PM. I'm already thinking it's bedtime;I suppose I need to get ready for tomorrow.
It's the early darkness Nef. I have a hard time getting used to it.
I've decided it's bedtime already; I went and cleaned up the kitchen and got things ready for tomorrow; so I bid you all a good night.
good night nef
hey mab, listening to that wonderful NPR story now. Thanks so much for telling me about it!
oh, i'm so glad you're enjoying it.
It's amazing -- I have thought a lot about these things, but this pulls it together nicely.
Hello stidmama! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
