Donuts
Whoohoo.

Tough grid, 3 shy of nbt and the 7s and 8s elude me. only 3 6s so far. I really whould get to bed, work tomorrow.
too bad we can't play while we sleep
took me awhile to find the 7's... agree about being tough
Easy Aussie jumping animal 8!
Ha. Have none of you ever Babbled in your dreams yet? If not, are you true addicts?
true, west.
thanks, Liz (to self—d'Oh!)
I have neil but haven't figured out how to enter the words yet lol
still need lower O and rightmost N for nbt and a 7 for nbs
Haha, westford
So the "Add Word:" slot was missing in your dream?
At least it's not one of those grids where you have one word with 4 suffixes.
No, just a couple.
just got the single o mel..animal from Indonesia
or 5/14
no idea
monkey type melon
short version
The rightmost "N" is like a Hebrew girls' name.
Minus a consonant.
na4,4
[if that helps]
helped me neil thanks
That name, with the 2nd consonant removed?
whoa, it did, Neil! First guess, too. Thanks!
yw melon. :)
Being Jewish helps on here sometimes huh?
Must be something wrong with my knowledge of Jewish girls
names
I see all the Hebrew/Yiddish words that crop up in the grid pretty easily.
actually I got a na5/10 from that [shrug] [smile]
I usually do - but the name eludes me still!
Very common in our circles, Lizlin.
At least here anyway.
Everywhere though I'd think?
Ruth's daughter-in-law?
still trying to find th or5 animal.
It's a 5-letter name but remove the 2nd consonant for this na4,4 word.
Less so on the Gold Coast I guess! Sigh! Right - duh! I have the word - didn't see it as a name!!!!!
ty
Don't know anyone with that name!
Ruth's mother in law, westford.
mel try first five of a fruit
Melon - monkey type - usually 2 words
You don't, Lizlin? Wow.
thanks neil..always get them mixed up
Really don't - odd eh?
I must not know my monkeys.
I have run into sooo many of them. More in NYC [Brooklyn especially] than here though.
Neil, tx for the Ruth's m-in-law clue (:
try the citrus fruit
Haha. You're welcome melon.
Melon - fruit and colour but minus final vowel
oooohhhhhh, minus the ersatz juice!
yep
nbt, now what are the 7s????
I have taught one of those girls! Long time ago!
All of a sudden I must have hot chocolate—not cocoa, chocolate.
Enjoy!
Struggling here!
Well I'm heading off... layla tov chaverim. :)
Layla tov - sweet dreams :)
good night neil
shlaf gezunt, Neil!

layla tov is good night in Hebrew
Boker tov ARB

that's pretty
Really, I meant.
5.30 pm Friday, melon
hey melon -- ma nishma?
Shalom, ARB!
Candle lighting 6.28 tonight
Shalom melon. Shalom everyone
Teaching, doing pottery, ARB. Recent hip troubles, too, sorry to say.
replacement in store?
shalom ARB
Shabbat Shalom, Liz! It's Shabbat somewhere already. wow. (:
Shabbat shalom and either sleep well or enjoy your day :)
Melon, do you need an operation?
Well, I'm going for a consult. My PT sat me down (inasmuch as I can sit at all!) and outlined what ducks I need to get in a row. Hoping to avoid, or at least postpone. Onset seemed sudden; I was walking all over NYC back in August, going to dances, and now i can't walk around the block tho I can ride a bicycle 10 miles. otoh, i can see how I've been favoring my right side for years, and back in february I had some range of motion issues, tho not pain. It's excruciating.
a friend of ours had a hip replacement in the fall, and he is doing amazingly well - no cane, no limp, gait even looks normal now
that is encouraging dee
My sis, who is an excellent NP, suggests it might be a labral (with an R, wiseguys!) tear. I was supposed to have an MRI, but panicked. Even the open MRI would have put a big machine close to my face, and my claustrophobia set in. If they want an MRI. they will have to put me out.
and most important, no pain at all...
Sorry to hear about that. Hope there is a way to take care of it. We have several friends who hadhip replacements and do everything without pain. so.... don't rule out replacement.
they can give you valium
VVMD, that is good to hear. Since I teach, I have summers off. I already live on one floor, and have two wonderful adult kids who will be there for me. So, what am I so scared of?
I am extremely claustrophobic... won't ever do closed MRI again, so understand that feeling
scared of pain, change, unknown future, so what else is new?
going under anesthetic... I think that is always a concern after we gain wisdom after 30 LOL
Hell, they gave me Versed for a breast MRI, I woke up 20 minutes in and started shrieking.
us older folk don't like llooking mortality in the face.
they should be able to avoid that - if the anesthesiaologist is aware of those issues
too true arb
So true, ARB. The outcomes can be very successful, but no surgery is without risk. Thank God, I have a pain mgt doc who listens to me and at least adjusted my meds.
where in US are you, mel?
Yes, ARB. Mortality has walloped my family, lots of cancer. Arthritis barely registers, but these little breakdowns—not being able to sit on the floor, take the stares in a normal fashion—are a quiet knock on the door. Like the rosh HaShanah liturgy: a great shofar is sounded, and a tiny still voice is heard.
I'm in Cleveland. Needless to say, medical care here is fabulous. I'm no Cleveland Clinic fan myself, so I go to Universioty Hospitals, equally good and a better culture, IMO.
true... my friend's surgery was in OH... but can't remember which town at the moment
It is truly nice to have my Babble friends to commiserate with. you and basenotes.net are my favorite online communities.
You have to be realistic, not in denial, but really understand your situation -- that's my philosophy for what it''s worth

ty dart... found this one tough
b'Emet, ARB (true). My PT is great that way. He just laid it out. I'm about to turn 59. I'm preparing my questions for the orthopedist. Basically, wondering how do we know when to go past conservative treatment to surgery.
not that I have great-grandchildren, just grandchildren that are great!
10 left and haven't looked yet

well, off til the flip.. hectic day tomorrow

TaDah, VMD! Now, tell me the 7s starting letters, if you please.
sure hang on
7 - ar, ch x 3, ma, tr x 3
ta ta for now!
I fell asleep at the computer around midnight; heading to bed now but thought I'd check in here first. melon, you are talking about a painful hip?
Yes, ARB. You know, as I was bicycling through Cleveland's inner city this summer, chatting with the residents, buying friendship bracelets from little girls on the stoops, ice cream from the truck, I remember feeling grateful I could have these little urban adventures, and mindful that one of these days I wouldn't be able to take these solo jaunts.
Yep, nef.
I had a total hip replacement in August 2011; best thign ever! :-)
nef..you ready for the deep freeze?
Thanks VMD, I'll remmeber them as archtram (;
BRRRR! Don't mention that, dart! (Yes, I'm ready. It's about time we got some cold temps
Oh, Nef, thank you for telling me that! I need the encouragement. One of my heroes is Suzanne Farrell, the great ballerina. She went back on point after two THR operations.
for once glad i'm down here now
melon, have you had any steroid injections into the joint?
this time around (before surgery) they didn't help at all; but I had them about 10 years before and they did help.
Nef, I just looked at your profile. My neph and his new wife just drove from Cleveland to Seattle and in their fb posts marveled at Minnesotans' ability to endure the cold.
No. The onset of pain was sudden. My pain doc wants to wait to see what the hip doc says. I've been reading up on NIH site; hyaluronic acid injections can also be successful. I have a feeling the replacement is in my future; 59 just seems young, though holding out for Medicare may be unrealistic.
I was home in 3 days after surgery; and one week after surgery I was sitting at the hospital with DH's Aunty who needed a transfusion (she thought if she said I had to go with her she could refuse it).
How long before you felt you were "back"? Able to walk, drive, sleep on your side, take stairs, etc.?
Believe it or not; I've seen kids wearing just light hoodies on their walks to anf from school this week. I've never been that crazy; but lots of people are around here.
(So glad I decided to Babble my way thru this insomnia, btw. This has been so helpful)
neighbors here think i'm crazy when i go out in short sleeves to golf when it's 52 out lol
Not in pain just now, but sometimes Vicodin wires me.
brb, fixing a hot chocolate for myself
Redheadbed (or ??? is a nurse in Florida who had a labral tear repaired last year too. SHe's back running half marathons now. (she didn't have a replacement)
that's redturtlehead nef..how do those labral tears happen?
good morning all, please can some one clue the 8s for me
ka 8...think australia
one is an aussie animal jenny
I was ready to go back to work after a month; didn't have a problem sleeping on my side. The driving, though; the doctor made me wait 6 weeks (it was my right hip). Stairs were a breeze within 2-3 weeks I think. I didn't go back to work though; I was caring for DH and his Aunty who was dying of heart failure (she died Sept. 29th, 2011)
Thanks, westford. I didn't think I had that right but couldn't remember what her "name" was here and didn't want to post her real name
thank you dart and westford, what about a 7 for me to have nbs and nbt
ar 7...law term bring into a hearing i think
Driving is hell for me, more than anything else (also R hip). At least I have a stick shift, which gives the R leg a rest now and then. I can't sir on upholstered furniture. Mostly I sit on a tall stool. Luckily I alternate between standing and sitting, and trown in some walking around the room when I teach.
nef it must be nice to know good surgeons
tx dart, nbs now
Dart, someone posted on their FB page that people in California were all bundled up in parkas when the temp is 50 F; whereas Minnesotans have picnics at that temp. That's pretty much true.
We are spoiled here the 216.
re: doctors.
thanks again dart
i saw on fb a funny comparison....let me see if i can find it
our silly daughter and her husband just left San Diego for Chicago and Michigan to go on a brewery tour
I haven't owned a coat for over 20 years, but it doesn't often get too cold in the LA area. Last week it was 48 at 9.30am, and people were, in fact, bundled up. I guess we're spoled for the good weather, and shiver at the thought of winter in any other state. (and not in No.Cal, because it gets cold, up there).
Maybe not 100% factual, but close! Just in case ya didn't know... Minnesota became the 32nd state on May 11, 1858 and was originally settled by a lost tribe of Norwegians seeking refuge from the searing heat of Wisconsin 's winters. Minnesota gets it's name from the Sioux Indian word "mah-nee-soo-tah," meaning, "No, really... They eat fish soaked in lye." The state song of Minnesota is "Someday the Vikings will... Aw, never mind." The Mall of America in Bloomington , Minnesota covers 9.5 million square feet and has enough space to hold 185,000 idiot teenagers yapping away on cell phones. Madison, Minnesota is known as "the lutefisk capital of the world." Avoid this city at all costs. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" was set in Minneapolis , Minnesota , and was Mary's first real acting job since leaving the "Dick van Dyke Show. The show about a single woman's struggle to find happiness in the big city was originally titled "Life Without Dick," but that was changed for some reason. Downtown Minneapolis has an enclosed skyway system covering 52 blocks, allowing people to live, work, eat, and sleep without ever going outside. The only downside to this is that a Norwegian occasionally turns up missing. Cartoonist Charles M. Shultz was born in Minneapolis , Minnesota and grew up in St. Paul. He was the only artist to accurately depict the perfectly circular heads of Minnesota natives. The Hormel Company of Austin , Minnesota produces 6 million cans of Spam a year, even though no one actually eats it. Spam is a prized food in Japan & Hawaii--Spam sushi!! Minnesota license plates are blue & white and contain the phrase "Blizzards on the 4th of July - you get used to it." Frank C. Mars, founder of the Mars Candy Co. was born in Newport, Minnesota . His 3 Musketeers candy bar originally contained three bars in one wrapper, each filled with a different flavor of nougat -chocolate, Spam and lutefisk. Tonka trucks continue to be manufactured in Minnetonka, Minnesota, despite the thousands of GI Joe dolls killed by them annually in rollover accidents. No airbags, no seat belts. These things are deathtraps, I tell ya! Author Laura Ingalls Wilder was raised at Walnut Grove, Minnesota, and was famous for writing the "Little House" series of books, as well as inventing the "Spam diet" which consists of looking at a plate of Spam until you lose your appetite. Much like the "lutefisk diet" The snowmobile was invented in Roseau , Minnesota so as to allow families a means of attending 4th of July picnics Minnesotans are almost indistinguishable from Wisconsinites. The only way to tell them apart is to ask if they voted for Mondale in '84. Now... it's up to you to forward this to all your friends If one of them does not forward it to others, he/she will be given an entrance pin to attend the Eelpout Festival in Walker, MN....in February -- Cold is a relative thing ya know.... At 65 degrees, Arizonans turn on the heat. People in Minnesota plant gardens. At 60, Californians shiver uncontrollably. People in Minnesota sunbathe. At 50, Italian & English cars won't start. People in Minnesota drive with the windows down.. At 40, Georgians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats. People in Minnesota throw on a flannel shirt. At 35, New York landlords finally turn up the heat. People in Minnesota have the last cookout before it gets cold. At 20, People in Miami all die. Minnesotans close their windows. At 0, Californians fly away to Mexico . People in Minnesota get out their winter coats. At 10 below zero, Hollywood disintegrates. The Girl Scouts in Minnesota are selling cookies door to door. At 20 below, Washington DC runs out of hot air. (Ya think? Nah.). People in Minnesota let their dogs sleep indoors. At 30 below, Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Minnesotans get upset because they can't start the snowmobile. At 40 below, ALL atomic motion stops. People in Minnesota start saying..."Cold enough for ya, eh?" At 50 below, heck freezes over. Minnesota public schools will open 2 hours late.
the last part is pretty funny
westford, I don't know how those tears happen. And I didn't know the surgeon but my insurance company sent me to him (that particular hospital had a very high rating for successful hip replacement
It is funny :D
Hi Christine - Are you complaining about the cold?
thanks dart..going to send it to my cousin..he married a Minnesota girl..they live in Maine now and find it quite tropical
Eek. I have to wake up for work in 4 hours. Thanks to you all for kind words, good advice, and encouragement. Goodnight, good morning, good day! [poof!]
nite melon
good night mel hope you can make the right decision and be pain free
LOL, dart! That's pretty much true I think; except the Minneapolis skyway is 80 blocks long now (the Skyway in St. Paul is only 50 blocks lon).
nef I meant it's helpful to be in your profession and know what they're talking about
love the last temp...school will be 2 hrs late lol
I know for a fact that if you spit in 40 below zero weather your spit hits the ground frozen.
now that's cold !!
How do you know that Nef? When I lived in Montreal it was too cold to go outside and spit.
We visited my sister near Rochester one winter. It was 20 below when we got there. Then it got cold!
now that is very true, westford. I go in to DH's many appointments and have to tell him what the doctors say all the time
before cell phones...was dangerous to drive in that cold..if something happened you would freeze in the car...or going for help
so glad your surgery was sucessful nef hope your DH is getting better too
we always go outside; but it rarely gets that cold these days here (I moved 320 miles south for the warmer climate here in the Twin Cities; I grew up in NW Minnesota; near North Dakota and Canada.
that is really cold up there...we always did too..because you had to....working mid shifts were a pain...you would have to go out and start your car 2 or 3 times a night or it wouldn''t start in the morn
I was a county health nurse up there in the early 70's, dart. I was on the road all the time at 30 and 40 below. My sister is a vet up there and she says it isn't as cold these days: it only gets to 20 and 30 below these days.
my last winter there was 10-11 and we had a lot of snow...you didnt have a winter last year
2010-2011 that is
what kind of work do you do dart that you worked odd shifts?
was doing air traffic control
we didn't have a winter last year! That's why I said we need some cold here
ahh. another thankless job...
24/7/365
2010-11 was a rough winter for us. DH was still too weak to do much but was finally walking again and my hip was too painful to be out shovelling (I never could start the snow blower; we sold it last year)
worst was quick turns during a snowstorm....8 hrs between shifts...had to fight the snow home..shovel out...wake up early and shovel again and then fight the snow back to work
you would get about 4 hrs sleep if lucky
snow was waist deep in my front yard on dec 9...and i'm 6'6"
We were very lucky in that we had a number of young friends who came and shoveled us out several different times. It was so funny; the Sunday we had about 2 feet of snowthat blew into drifts, our daughter posted on FB that we were snowed in and within 2 hours we had 6 people shoveling out our driveway!
that's great!!
I think we're talking about the same storm. I just didn't want to exsaggerate (sorry can't spell)
I know our Rav 4 was drifted in to the windows on the west side....
we had 17 inches in mid november...then 17 more 1st week of dec...plus a few in between
yep. Fun times! :-)
sold my snowblower to someone i worked with...he sent me a text with a picture of it and asked if i missed it yet...i took a pic of our bare front yard and told him not yet lol
LOL! I bet he's glad he has it this year! (We gave in and have hired a plowing service)
he said he has used it quite a f ew times so far
We've been plowed out about 5 times this winter (I think they only came 4 times last year)
i believe it...last year airport only had 15 inches the whole year...not sure what you are up to now...was there over NYD and i think you've had some since then
Oh, Man!! Lok at the time! I need sleep and I should go to bed instead of falling asleep here again...
I think we've only had another 2 inches since then.....
we NEED more snow!
me too but down to 3 left list free so far...trying to find them before i doze off
i might get a round of golf in tomorrow....55 and 20-30 mph winds...might be a bit cool with the wind
Well, I need to go to bed. Thanks for talking about our lovely state, dart; See you later! Happy Babbling, everyone!
nite nef....enjoyed the chat...tc
(they doin't tell you the wind chills there, do they?
they do...and they complain about it alot
Dart, just scrolled down and ran across your MN information. I'm still doubled over from laughing. Thanks.
when it is 20 with a winds
yw grandma....saw that on FB and thought it was cute
oh dear. that's so sad. NOW good night! :-)
:)
Your welome.
May I please have a clue for ch7-36 the 1st? Thanks
it's a happy british goodbye
Thanks so much, Kateq.

Hi everyone, just opened up, got started, then got sidetracked
Good morning flosey.
hi Peach
I'm just sitting here with my eyelids proped open.
hi flosey and all..left for a minute to check my mail and got lost in the junk
Hey there, westford.
easy to do, west
cute icon
thanks flosey if you mean my cat
he's the only decoration I have out now
yes
I have all the Jim Shore calendar cats and now the place I got them is discontinuing them..good thing I got them all when I did
Hi peach if I didn't say hi..getting tired here too
am I here?
strangest thing..I clicked on Flosey's icon to see it better and was told I wasn't connected to the internet
going to try again
oh my, how did that happen
I love tulips, west, just bought some again today
I see it now..they are quite beautiful
thanks
All the company gone now flosey? Must be very quiet.
yes, we've been alone since late first week of Jan
but they're talking about coming back for a bit - hubby had a lot of fun taking William down to a park on the water - swings and teeter totters
walking along the beach
he saw some young girls and wanted to join them
William, I mean
hahaha
sounds like they're great friends
lol I knew you meant that
hubby bought him a John Deere trackor like his own, also had a truck with it
tractor
what a great gift
can he ride it?
I remember those pedal cars but they probably don't have those anymore
no, tiny one, we were skyping earlier tonight and when talk got around to the tractor, he associated with 'Christmas Tree' which please hubby because they went up the mountain property to cut it and bring it down - just misses the highest point in the living room
making beautiful memories for that little boy
we wondered how Christmas would affect him - remembering and such
we hope so
how many did you have at your house? Were either of your sons able to be there?
no, sons got together though
we've never had all of them under this roof at one time
have had 3 and their partners, kids
I hope you will be able to someday..
when we built, I made sure the diningroom would sit no less than 12
it can be extended into the livingroom
if needed
that's a Norman Rockwell painting
will have to ask (painter) daughter to attempt one
she gave me a painting shed done of the two grandsons with guitar
what a treasure
she'd
yes, it is, I'll take a picture of it and post it in my icon hmmm, that would make it pretty small
when I first read that I wondered why she gave you a painting shed lol
lol
what I need is a space where I can set my loom up again, I'd enjoy weaving
my beginning articles were teatowels - good sized ones, and they're still going strong
That looks so interesting and relaxing too
when first grandson was on the way, I decided to do chenille crib blankets - even daughters wanted one because they were cozy
wow so much nicer than the junk out there now
dil decided she would need another one! so there were a few around, then gave another to the wife of a chap who came and pruned our apple trees
what made you start..did you learn from someone in your family?
Dear peeps, I must head toward the bed now. Good Babbling. Sweet dreams all.
no, none of my family wove, I took lessons when I came here
good night peach..I may be heading there soon myself..still need one for nbt
good night Peach, sweet sleep, was glad I got to see you
but you don't have room for your loom now? that's too bad
no, would have to do too much rearranging
see now if Flosey had the painting shed she could use that
What an interesting conversation to come in on. Hello Flos & West
very true ..hi lyn
that's what it would take, really need a studio - separate from the house - looms can get noisy
hi Lum
I can't even imagine weaving/making chenille
pj dear. fingers aren't finding their way around
HI LYN
I didn't have to spin the chenille, I bought it that way, I just wove it
I have heard spinning is impossible
I did a weaving course once - only for a few months and only using a small frame and shuttle. Fun but not something I pursued
but this no talent has still to sew a button on her good coat
My Mother got into spinning and dying - she loved it
I went all out, thinking I was going to do this for quite a while, loom would comfortably weave a crib sized blanket
my mom crocheted..I wish she would take it up again
well with all that expense you need to take over a bedroom or something and set yourself up - and buy your husband earplugs
when I bought it, only colour available was off white, had to dye trim colours
my mom did a lot of fancy work, needle work
was quite a good seemstress
reminds me - I wonder where that tapestry that I started 14 years ago is?
that would be fun to pick up again lyn
maybe - one year! - quite happy knitting when I want to relax
You'll never guess what I'm doing.
I knit bulky sweaters for son and both dils soon after moving out here
Noooo - not sewing!!!!!
ah Haz, and what are you doing?
YES!
may I bring my coat over?
I don't believe it
I'm sewing the hem of a pair of trousers. Hateful job.
lol West
wow, and if I remember correctly, that was not a favourite hobby of yours?
oh, I agree, one job I did hate
This is not being done for pleasure - needs must!
it's a sin what they charge here for that
I tell you, the needle and thread know it's an amateur in charge.
I know that one, hubby does it every time he buys jeans or slacks
I'd gladly pay someone else to do it
some of the stores have staff who will make such alterations
Haz is going to start a cottage industry
I always pay someone to do shortening, it's just that the hem has come undone and sellotape wouldn't look right.
My husband got sick of waiting for me to do mends/alterations - he takes it to a tailor he found who is reasonable (I never said I wouldn't do it)
And safety pins have a habit of peeking through.
how about fabric glue?
I used to sew a lot, made 3 wedding dresses and also a suit for my son
staples Haz
have never tried it
wow Jenny
my son in law staples his work trousers to get a better fit
wow, now there's talent, Jenny
I've got a glue gun...
double wow
I took over the spare room and worked in there for years, but over the last 10 years I have done less and less and now only do essentials like sewing on buttons and mending
great jenny I'll send you my coat with the missing button
You can try that double side mending tape that you heat up with an iron too
we moved into this house 5 years ago and I found a shower curtain I liked..I pinned up the hem and the pins are still there
I also used to do free style embroidery and because my daughter was also mad about butterflies and caterpillers I embroidered them all over her wedding dress
I'm just feeling very he6/24 and tackling this myself.
gorgeous Jenny
if i lived near enough Westford I do it for you. My brother saves his buttons for me to sew on when I visit him
thanks Haz, needed that he
thanks jenny you're very sweet
does that iron on tape work?
Other breaking news - we've found a new dog.
ooh that is good news
usually for at least one wash
don't think I ever used it west
wonderful news Haz, good for you
Yay!!! when do you get him/her
daughter is forever sending us pictures of adoptables
Dempsey - a 7 month old blue roan cocker spaniel. His head is apparently not quite big enough for the show ring so his breeder wanted a new home for him. He'll be coming to us in March, once I get the Festival finished.
he sounds lovely, Haz
he does and love the name
I organise the Speech and Drama section of our local festival - it's a busy time so I wanted to wait until afterwards so I could concentrate on getting him settled in.
off to check out blue ro**(PS PB for you Haz) spaniel
He's lovely - we met him on Wednesday evening and he was really friendly and tailwaggish.
I know - ro4/4 sends me to the PB but what with sewing and all I'm throwing caution to the winds.
well here in NSW Australia...we hit 47 degrees centigrade...around 125 farenheit......but we have just been blessed with a cool blustery wind change. Just hope where the fires are, don't cop the wind.
very nice - not as glamorous as Spangle - so a lovely change - they even look a bit ruff and tumble for a boy dog. I am very excited for you Haz
diz that is entirely too warm
phew Diz, nasty. We have just been having one off stinkers down here. Although there is a pretty nasty fire down in Gippsland at the memoent
We had hankered after another Welsh but it just wasn't working out so we've opted for a cocker. He's smaller than Spangle but maybe it's better to have a change so fewer comparisons.
west...tell me about it...a/con has been going on stop
our Springer Winston was our very best dog..we will never have another as good as he was
Hem done - only pricked my finger once but didn't draw blood. Maybe I'm making progress with this sewing lark.
you make me proud haz
sounds like you need a thimble
(don't send the coat to Haz West, it will come back all bloodied)
I know! Sewing = blood, sweat and tears!
ah The Elephant Man is here
babble is that for me..please help with the 4th column second a
just got it..and nbt nbs and I can finally get to bed
Well done, westford, and sleep well.
goodnight West, sleep tight
thanks haz and lyn..I will dream of sewing
The only time I dreamt of sewing was when I was having terrible dreams because of malaria tablets. I dreamt I was furious because a shop wouldn't sell me a crossstitch kit of an elephant.
so malaria tablets prior to the African trip then?
Yes, and the dreams continued throughout the trip and for a week or two afterwards.
Husband had the same problem - we used to quiz each other on what we had been dreaming about as it was quite entertaining.
His frustration was not being allowed to take a lawn-mower on board a plane.
In his dreams, I mean. He's not normally one for taking machinery on holiday.
how odd that you had such strange dreams and obviously very vivid
I know, it was very peculiar but at least we didn't have any really nasty side effects.
happy that it accepts Australian hens
I know, It's an Aussie grid for sure.
BBL I had better make myself some dinner b4 it gets too late and I talk myself out of it. Bye for now
cant get the ch7, does it add to the hen?
Bye lynxxx.
No, it's an unusual word, flosey, let me think how to clue it.
First four letters as with the task (ch5/14) then first three letters of a verb meaning to shake up, to annoy, to provoke.
That's for ch7/44 - ch7/36 starts the same way but ends in a charged particle.
got it, thanka zhaz
Haz
Good, I should really look it up to see what it means.
Latin plural for one who leads a chorus. So now we know.
gpt them both, thanks Haz, great clues
You're welcome.
I'm going to take a break and do some errands. Enjoy the grid, flosey. Bye!
thanks Haz, I'll be heading off to bed soon

Can I have help on li6/24?
it's a kind of nut

more a fruit than a nut, I think
And take the double vowel ending off for the li4.
yes, called a nut but is actually a fruit
in Toronto, there use to be a restaurant in Chinatown, called Li6 Gardens
We had about one inch of snow here today.and they closed the schools..can you believe it..tsk.
wow, are they expecting much more?

Typical my first word was a bodily function!!
were either of thoses ma 6 words what you were looking for?
ma 6: head nurse in Britain
ty Molly
thanks molly... that was much better than my butcher job
ty molly
An an7 is a word that has the mixed up letters of another word in it.
ma 6 could be one of several meanings for women in the US, and the adverb too
So obvious! Second clue did the trick! Thank you.
Molly, where is your icon?
I am iconless today
look like molly is hiding today
How can we fill the void?
I am a tabula rasa. : D
what are the 8's. Finally have NBT
either of the last two ch 7's please?
Good Afternoon, Everybody. How are you all this beautiful day?
8 less
hi Nef
ka 8= aussie hopper, bichon
tyvm Nef
sorry, nan. I don't have any ch's yet
ty anyway, nef

LOL, sammys!
good evening all
hi sprite :)
hi nan :)
hi sprite (sorry, chatting in word box again. I wondered why you were quiet!)
hiya Nef :)
ahhh, babble time
hi hursh
name that proper noun! Super Brother
hi hurshy. How are you today?
they don't have the word for what I say when I bang my shin. : )
hi hego
Hi Sprite!
ko 5, please?
I try to keep it PG rated; little grandson has big ears and I heard him saying sh*t last weekend when he dropped something
lolol
:)
sorry, cyber, I only have 40 words so far and that isn't one of them. :-(
grid is terrible
had a frustrating morning but ok now, thanks nef
thanks, hego. I thought I was just slow.
not you Nef
I'm glad your day has improved, hurshy. I always think Babble helps make things better myself. :-)
finding it tough too, hego
ag5d
It's unaninmous!
I have a question for you people here (especially those that can bake): is there such a thing as a gluten-free cake (besides the ice cream ones, that is)?
i'm sorry to hear that it's a tough grid when i was looking forward to having some fun
ko + I've been working on the ***lroad
ty molly
thanks Molly
ty
well there are flourless cakes, so probably
am proud to say I found a ka8 all by myself
Lots of it Nef. And they sell gluten free cake mixes as well.
flourless cakes? (I'll need to Google that one!)
true Nef
yeah i had a very delicious flourless chocolate cake at christmas time from a place we have here called chocopologie
flourless cakes are egg based and very good.
Lots of them are chocolate.
just kind of souffles
thanks! That helps a lot! :-)
Keep in miind that flourless cakes are very dense and not light like regular cake.
Ks killed
some are good and some are not so good. it depends on if they are dense and CREAMY or dense and DRY
amazing Sprite!
:) So now I can start finding other words :)
My DH's b'day is coming up and we'll be celebrating with some friends and 1 has a gluten allergy.
It seems like gluten allergy is the new "food issue".
you can get a special dessert just for her.
true Molly
My husband had celiac diease before it was fashionable.
Our daughter-in-law is on a gluten free vegetarian diet because she thinks it will help her mental state..... (I haven't noticed a difference though)
lolol
yeah i have heard of people saying they do better off gluten but personally i loves me the bread
everything in moderation is my credo.
According to his wife, he has severe skin problems related to a gluten sensitivity; and I have seen that before; so I don't think it's celiac disease nor just a passing fad.
that's unusual
2nd tr 7/40, please?
I have watched parents struggle to keep autistic kids on a gluten free diet because it was supposed to "help" and later they have told me it didn't do squat.
it doesn't Molly
I did look it up, hego, and skin problems (similar to excema) can be caused by gluten sensitivity
tr + I (past tense) **** the bell + Popeye says I ** what I **
to paraphrase the witch of the west... "oh what a word, what a word"
have that one, ty molly -- looking for the 2nd one
The operative words there are "can be". I know people with eczema who have tried gluten free and it hasn't helped.
Yeah, the diet for autism reminds me of the diet for ADHD (or my DIL's thinking): almost wishful thinking
fa8 anyone?
I have fa + sort of the french for red
nan gave a clue earlier for the fa8: nor near but fa* + what you say when you bump your shin +vowel
ty ladies
Hello all!
hi Jjill :)

Keepers, Nan. I'm so delighted I got that ch word, I'm all gung-ho now! :-)
i believe, that word is two of christopher robin's rfiends lol
Keepers? Damn auto correct! Jeepers!

what's for lunch nan?
Looking for Tigger & Heffalump! :-)
probably grilled ham& cheese
i am going back to lurking. i have never given a clue in babble without regretting it. *poof*
on my way -- stomach thinks my throat's been cut!
heffalumps and woozles....
Trying to think of a way to lure TO out of lurk mode......
don't go TO, you give good clues!
<-- running around like a chicken without a head
why cos?
*readies tranquilizer gun and net*
Running around like a blue-arsed fly is how it's described here, Cos!
<--- picturing the scene :)
now THAT is an interesting simile, soodle.
*spreads co4/5* here chickie chickie
TO will man the tranquilliser. Me & Kate will man the net.....
soodle: flies don't run. at least not on this continent.
TO, logic has no place in Irishisms!!!
what will we use for bait? the co4/5 TO put out?
:D
Cos, why the fuss?
My flight is in less than 24 hours
Deep breaths. DEEP BREATHS. It will be fine. Everything that needs doing will be done!
hello
hi again everyone, hopefully back to finish
oh cos, your flight! I hadn't heard, so you are going to see the Pres.

heck, what's wrong with them, this is such a great honour for you
oh. here they are nly $$
God! Sorry for all the 'Irishisms' this evening, but Cos, where's a will there's a way!
and well worth it.
problem is we would have to leave here at 43\3
Net in place. Just yell 'When', so I can brace myself
330am and everyone is lazy
leave earlier and hang maybe?
thats what im working on now :)
Public transport?
you could always snooze while waiting, just be sure to get someone to wake you
they ended the shuttle between denver and springs.. budget cuts
right denver is one of the few airports left witj a smoking lounge.. and frere wi fi.. so i dont mind waiting a while tere.. i did the same in Minnepolis
Oh no no no. No snoozing! You meet the most eclectic people in Airport waiting rooms. Airport waiting rooms are terrific places for meeting random people, who you may not come across in your normal day to day life!
Just stay away from the bathrooms :P
I got fog-bound in LAX once, and met the most interesting people ever! Then, I got bumped up to first class for my return flight to London, because I had been chatting to a VIP's mother, totally unawares!

Hello smores
Min. I finally got it. Dah!!!!!
Hi everyone
Hi everyone, too. Dank and cold in the great Northwest. Water calm. Inversion so that we cannot burn in fireplaces until the winds come again.
Really cold here in the Northeast today. Brrr.
Cold streak here too--temps in teens for several days.
How is Watson?
You're colder than we are.
Did I tell you he had his hi-tech operation in OK [bone graft, pins, plates] and he is in the recuperation phase.
Lucky dog. Will he return to you?
mild here in central ontario at minus 6c and snowing lightly
Crossy, a few hundred of your Canadian common redpolls came to visit me on Tuesday morning.
No, once he's recuperated and up walking on all fours he will be going to an adoptive home.
Glad the recovery is starting, bichon. We had a bird fly into our window pane this morning. By afternoon he was just feathers because the crows got to him.
Hi, all! Hate to tell you but it's 72 degrees here in Phoenix. But you can get even in the summer when I will be living in HELL.
very nice scwabby:) would you like a few hundred thousand of our canada geese? we have plenty;)
I saw a site on Facebook today that was a game called Babble but it was nothing like this one. It has to do with popping bubbles to make words. Has anyone else seen it?
I don't know if summers here are that much better than in AZ. We have the humidity
We have Canada geese to give away too but actually we admire them.
we like them too:)
I hate the poop all over the grass
We have lots and lots of Canada geese that stay here year-round.
interesting mimi.dr-god will have to jump on them if he had it first
I FINALLY passed halfway so I must make salads for my bunnies. See you tomorrow.
I love it when people say "Yeah, but it's a dry heat." Well, so's your oven but you wouldn't want to spend any time in there. But I know what you mean---hate the sticky humidity.
Smores, are you still here?
Here's one of my favorite demotivators: Picture: Fireworks (appropriate). Caption: Insight. Text: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. The smart left a long time ago.
It is 57 here in SETX. It feels downright balmy compared to the past several days.
I much prefer colder weather especially since these days I look so much better with MORE clothes on.
back.. gonna try to finish the grid before i leave
57 degrees here too. I didnt need a coat when I went outside.
Gotta leave already. ♪♪I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in♪♪

When I was in college, the infirmary nurse maintained that Southern Comfort and lemon was as good as cough medicine for the afflicted...
oops, sorry
yikes
Maybe we should stock said stuff in the PB?
wasn't even thinking about what I was saying. Yes southern comfort is a good alternative as well. I bake apples in a dish after I core them and put some butter in the center and about a tbsp of Southern then fill with walnuts, yummy!
That sounds fantastic.
Very tasty!

kyleteresa, we'll just wait a bit after you ask for a clue. your symptom is often referred to as a peri. as one of our babble buddies often does the same thing. :-)
me too!
A peri? I take it that is your buddy's name? :)
any clues for the I words?
ic4 and ik4 same word
we used to call that "POP" on another gamesite I hung out on - the Power Of Posting. People were all the time asking for help with a game and then editing to say "nvm, POP!" funny.

Can I have a clue for the ka 6/30 word bichon if you got it
ka 6 / 30 - extend the ka 5 above it centrally with a consonant
Sorry, I have that one. I need the first ka 6/30 word Lizlin.
Can be more precise if you'd like!
OK - sounds like the singer / leader in a synagogue
Or, the first 3 letters of the Aussie marsupial + another word for pitch )sticky black stuff)
I just found that ka 6/30 word. I never would have seen it.
Liz is in a cluing frenzy
Me neither - saw a clue this morning.
It also sounds like the spanish word meaning to sing Lizlin.
Just glad to help - have been a bit quiet this week, as we've had guests! Taking them to the airport this afternoon. Good company but less babble time.
TY Min but don't speak Spanish!
Due to a massive screw up on a certain someones part IM not goingto DC tomorrow

Hello NonnieLight! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Hiya Min...how are you?
crossy is a wreck..please,i need drug..hard street drugs...
I am doing well. Just got fireworks so now I can relax a bit
Congrats min!
twitch..twitch...
Thanks NonnieLight
You're welcome, min.
If you're twitching then that means you are still hanging in there and what a good sport, crossy!
athe greatest gift i have found, that a husband and wife can give to each other is growing old together and sharing the same time frame of movies, music and silence!!
and laughter, crossy. My husband and I have survived by being able to laugh together.
whoever said silence is golden has vastly underrated it
i make myself the fool to see my beloved laugh and i do not mind at all as it is music to my ears
My boys would be jealous. They were not allowed to have girlfriends spend the night at 18.
we are watching like hawks ,molly, trust me
Molly! been waiting for u all day
my 18 year old son,due to developmental delays and other things is more like 14

uh, welkie??
hi dorens - i read back into the chat. crossy's son is having a guest sleep over tonight, a young woman
he said he's planning on no sleep, is a 'wreck' *lol*
with shisha tobacco, of course :)
all very interesting, but why do you want to go to the pb??
oh pooh.
how strict are you, because i don't see anyone else looking and i really don't like that pb thing - no cabana boys lately
pooh. reminds me of old days with nut and renny flinging pooh. certainly different chat patterns over the years
hmm - to me, that would be flinging poo. i see winny the pooh flying through the air if we flung pooh!
ah, but the boys can be there if you want them... it's all a matter of what you feel like entering in chog. And of course we could always stock with salted caramels, or brandy alexanders or whatever pleases you
and yes, you are right about poo vs pooh! my mistake
i don't have a problem flinging Pooh - kind of cute :)
so how the heck are you?
just spent the evening at the baltimore aquarium with extremely cute kids (my grands). Levi (at 3 1/2) is very pooh like in his way. much fun
i've been there - isn't it great!?!?! and with young kids, magic!!
it was a long time ago - what's the area called? harbortown? i remember driving past mccormick's, the spice company, and the air smelled like cinammon
Yay Jmc and I just made plans for Tues evening!
anyway - i have to go, wish we were on together more often. g'night dorens - and cos (have a good trip)
