hi Hugs
What is a phantom?

a phantom is a word that looks like it is there but is not
ahh, ty!

usually requies all of the letters to be there, but they do not line up right
Jilli, I noticed that also! there are several words frequently used in these grids lately

thanks jilli

I tore a tendon in my ankle at work over a year ago. Had surgery in June; went through PT, back to work finally in Nov, but still lots of pain. Surgery again the end of Jan. The tendon wasn't attached anymore & thye took it out and cut the foot and heel all up to repair it
well, hope you get stronger soon and able to move around w/o the crutches
oh -- rotten luck, nef!

I just have to figure out what to do for the next 3 years or so. Bedside nursing has been my passion for nearly 40 years now
en7
That's really rough, and what a loss to your patients. If you get really better couldn't you get back to it?
I have three nurse friends who have changed to different aspects of nursing - one became a lactation consultant, one is a phone nurse at a doctor's office, and the other is a school nurse; all are very happy now
hiya all. there's a re8 (NOT an again word) if noone's mentioned it

Good for you sewwell...I gave up at halfway, but fiber art was going strong and willing to clue but had no energy...it was late my time. Go to bed
kkiln, how are you doing?
I guess the addiction is strong..
Fiber Art goes at it in the morning and early afternoon, before she starts her day. I'm the opposite.
sewwell -- you've finished? Fireworks here already???
Hey, sewwell. This is some addiction.
Oh,nonono. I'm talking about yesterday!
I am starting my day, but have to get going...lots of work today!
Phew!!! I was getting a big inferiority complex!
Mildly amused by a word starting in one corner, and ending in the opposite corner...
sbaba - Isee your new computer is working fine!
Hey, kkiln. Good morning!!!
ta, douglas!
Never fear! I'm a long way from babbling that fast! Years away!
Yup....It's really great.
"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and ******, wanting nothing." (James 1:4, KJV)
Nite all...have to run and get ready for work. Have a nice sleep.
kkiln, and sewwell, is there something that works better than lickety? I've only had fireworks once.
ok, down to 100 and slowed way down, think I'm done for tonight
Okay, kkiln, have a good day! Adios.

yay Fran! eeerik, jilli's icon stories are always both entertaining and educational. I love them :)
i think jilli left already, but i read her story right away...how could she think no one was enjoying it?
probably because no one said so - I didn't say so and I did enjoy it, so that was my bad.

there I was thinking I was doing pretty well. Now I see I have zero 8s and only 7x7 so far. Ooph.
lol, i only have one of the 7s!
but you did find an 8, right?
i have 2 7's
it was a fluke sprite. :-)
i stumbled on it by accident
nah, what a nonsense. You FOUND it. It is an achievement, not a coincidence :)
:-)
exactly, sprite
one day roos is going to be a word
lol fran
it is in Dutch. It means rose. It's been bugging me from the start, lol.
lol, yeah, so is 'neer'
true! That means 'down'
Hmm those roos neer words bother me too - same as dutch in afrikaans
shall I share my 7s?
sure sprite
yes, afrikaans and dutch are so close!
mine is a bl7, more bl6/27
BL40, Ci36, Co32, En32, En32, Re28, Re28
i just found re7/32 also
thanks sprite! *searching*
thanks Fran! :)
yay, think I found it, thanks again :)
if it's the bringing together one, then you got it
that's the one!
i found it trying to find your REs. :-)

hi all!
hi ata!
Hi Ata! *big hug*
hello atalante
still struggling with the french re8
I dont know whether I'll be able to find words right now. I'm totaly overwhelmed by fixative fumes! Hurray for finishing pictures, not hurray for trying to fix 27 layers of soft pencil!
en8s down, now the res
i mean en7s!
aarrgghh Ata, that is not healthy indeed! But wtg on finishing :)
I have all my windows open and I'm freezing cold LOL
did you see I found another re7/32, Fran? It is in a way related to the other, lol. You might need to re7/32 (new) to be able to re7/32 (yours)
better cold than overcome by fixatives!
i found the other re8!
thanks sprite, i have two re7s so far and two re8s
I am totally blind to the re8s. Got 4x re7 though. Bad bad bad phantom: increase. That HURTS.
try adding Ss to those re7s sprite
phantom: bittern
my re8 builds on an "eastern" 6 letter word
i know ata, i was hoping one T was an alt spelling
no joy with those Ss, alas
me too
that means you need at least one more re7/32 spritey.
mine are bring together again and make it stand upright again
i have 3 r37s, but just one r38 (re8/45)
re, not r3 - sorry!
one more re7/32 is a group of helpers, french in origin
that i got plus its plural
thanks for the upright one sprite, now i need just the other re7/28
yay, got the helpers(s) :)
the re8/40 is to place again or re + another name for the east
that did it, thanks again :)
yay!
there are 3 re7/28s, i just found another one
2 more re7s - the eyeball ones
there are two plurals for the eye part and plural of "fork" again
got the eyeball ones, no others yet
Hello. You girls are good - TY
got those - i'm missing re 8/40 - haven't a clue. . .
yay, it was the plural fork :)
hi lynxxx!
famous book/movie of Agatha Christie, melon. The ****** Express.
hey lynxxx :)
good clue sprite
:)
{fish to head} thank, nonetheless
join in lynxxx, we only have two of the 8s
Too early ! (but I'll try)
are they all re8s do we know?
we have re8/40 and re8/45, no clue on the other 2
I think we are all listless players here
te8
cool melon
phantom: until
3 re8s
yay melon! *goes hunting*
i'm a list-user so don't get all impressed. now i'm going to bed. laila tov {poof}
night melon and thanks, found the te8 thanks to you :)
night melon! sleep well
nite Melon
good morning everyone:)
how many points is the te8 sprite?
hi jean!

got the te8
hi jean!
Hi Jean
thanks, searching
didn't find the te8 yet, but found a te7
yay Fran, don't have that one yet. Found the hawaiian goose though!
didnt find the te8 yet but found my favourite te6!
why do i always miss that one? thanks sprite
I found it because I wanted it to be the end of a Re8. Did not work.
now I need to know what your favourite te6 is, Ata!
hmmm, *trying to guess if the one i have is ata's favorite*
te6.21 I bet
little babblet animal :)
yup, lynxxx!
yay! found it
just found my first 8 (re)
hi lshult!
yay Ishult, and hi :)
morning all
Hi Ishult
good morning Ishult:)
morning all, popping in for 5 mins to see what the grid is like
hi ren8!
good morning ren8:
Hey Ren
hi ren8!
still no luck on the te6, but got 2x te7/28
hi Fran, Jean, Lynxx & Sprite, nice to see you all on here this morning, just a pity work is calling very soon
its something people often have as an icon on fridays
isn't it terrible, how work can interfere with babble :(
lol it sure does sprite, although I play whilst at work rofl
found the te8! a singing mineral?
yay, got the mammal! Thanks (takes fish)
hurray for working from home!
Hey Jean, just read your profile. You live in one of my favourite areas. about 17 years ago a group of my friends and I regularly (about 4 or 5 times over a 2 year period) stayed in a B&B farmhouse near Sand. I have some great memories of those trips.
yay for te6 mammals!
great clue, Fran!
th7/32
oh wow Ishult, thats nice to hear, Sand is near the coast isint it
thanks sprite! :-)
it was ok when I only worked 2 days a week, now working 4 days really interferes with Babble
and Et7/32
not realy, actually I think it's very close to Wells
thanks sprite, found the gassy et7
it's a tiny village
that's the one I have, Fran
oh dear my local geography is pants lol, and im a radio operator as well how sad is that Wells is a lovely place and I love being here
yay! found the th7 too
yay Fran! There is another ci7, this one for 32 points. Finally on a roll, for as long as it keeps ;)
does that make 15 sevens sprite?
I have 16 now
oops, i have some catching up to do. :-)
i have 14
I don't have as many as you but I do have a bl7.40
BL, Ci x2, Co, En x2, Et, Re x6, Te x2, Th
yep, that was my first 7
must shower and get ready for work, see you all later
have a good day, ren8!
later ren8!
bye ren8 have a lovely day:)
bye REN
finally found the last 8, thanks again!
Jean, just remembered that Sand is close to Wedmore!!
oh right Ishult then it is the sand that I know, Wedmore is a few miles down the road from here, and Sand is not that far from weston super mare
Fran, do you remember the R word you said would be valid one day? There is a C word like it that is!
how long ago was it that you used to visit somerset Ishult
lol, thanks sprite!
was finishing the Cs and tried it out of desperation, lol
in7/32 related to he4/5
yay, and another in7/32 as well. That's 18.
that japanese ornamental box has been in every grid lately
(while we're on ins)
yes, that's a keeper!
It was a over period of about 2 years, at the end of the 80's . We were there about 4 or 5 times for long weekends. I'm trying desperately to remember the name of the farm that we stayed on (it's a working farm). Even after I moved to Israel, some of my friends stayed in touch with the Family who owned it. The name will eventually come back to me!
I expect when you remember the name I could well know of it, due to the job I do Ishult
finally figured out your clue for that first in7, it helps to have the right he4/5! :-)
LOL Fran, that is true!
I only now realise it is a crooked clue. I mean the person doing it, the he4. And it is related in meaning, not in form. The other one though, is related in form and not in meaning!
found the other in7 also, thanks sprite!
the clue worked for me so i'm not going to criticize it sprite. :-)
always seems to work with us, lol
there is another th7/32. One is a plural, one is a kind of compound.
thanks sprite, tried that earlier with an i
me too!
how many points is the 3rd re8 sprite?
the re8s go 40 - 40 - 45. One ends in something you can camp out in.
i have 8/40 and 8/45
got it! thanks
yay!
as soon as you said the ending i knew the word, someday i'll be able to find them before getting the clue.
ok, this is a new one for me. Trying every possible combination sometimes really works, lol. Hi7/36 : 1. of, pertaining to, or resembling a goat. 2. having a goatish odor. 3. lustful; libidinous.
only one more 7 to go now.
woo hoo sprite!
oh, and a number of shorter words too!
must away, bbl hopefully, have a good day everyone and happy babbling:)
have a great day, jean!
bye jean! have a good day
I am going to hang the laundry outside to dry, back in a bit.
later sprite!
Jean if you are still there, just tracked down the name of the farm (Wilcox)
jean left lshult, i think she's at work.
phantom: unicorn
mine is tierce
mine is increase and I hate it that it is a phantom
it is soooooo close
and lunar. I *keep* seeing it
I'm back, btw :) last 7: Li28. plural architectural word
Ata, no way that unicorn is be allowed to be just a phantom!
I _love_ unicorns
does anyone read the blog boingboing?
?
every time they link to a disgusting or especially raunchy story, they follow it with a "unicorn chaser" to get the bad thoughts out
my daughter does
ow wow, what a great idea!
boingboing.com sprite, they collect stories from all over the web.
sorry, it's boingboing.net
ah, I see now, it is one of the below links.
fireworks! Thanks to you all for the clues and pointers towards the biggies :)
yay sprite!!
check this out, this was posted the other day: http://boingboing.net/images/WWUD .swf
since when is biro not a word?
Congrats Sprite! Conquered again
thanks for pointing out most of the 7s sprite!
unicorn should be allowed! lets appealto Dr_G :)
its officially a trade name, hillary
Its a brand name Hillary. Hi.
hi hillary!
LOLLLLL - I did it. "Impale evil things" is my answer for today!
Good morning/evening all.
hi haz!
that's a good one sprite!
morning Haz
hi Haz!
Phone....
I get "Race the Wind"! WOOT!
ata, what shall we say to dr_g? maybe: any grid in which unicorn is almost a word, it should still count?
YAY!
definitely. any unicorn phantoms must be allowed as real words!
that's a good one, Fran. And 'almost' should be defined as "all letters occur"
mine is "leap across a ravine"
yay Fran! And you know it: with two small hops you never get across a ravine :)
oooooh brave fran!
i think "impale evil things" works well for you sprite, that was perfect.
I think so too. Much more aggressive than I tend to be - there is something to learn there :)
Okay, I'm starting to get frustrated, I've found 125 words so far, but only 1 8 (re8/45). Need help finding the others???!!!
i can just picture you repeating that as an affirmation every morning! :-)
lshult, there are two more re8/40s and a te8/40
Fran must clue the te8. She had the most wonderful clue for it.
oh, all right...te8/40 is a singing mineral (builds on the te5 male voice)
:)
one re8/40 ends in a thing you can camp out in. The other one is place again, or re + eastern
got it , thanks Fran
oh good! yw lshult.
i need to be off, still have quote-puzzler and sudoku to do before bedtime.
70 left for tomorrow. night everyone!
Yeh, got 'em all, thanks guys
sudoku is easy today, Fran. Night! *hug*
nite Fran. thanks for all the clues
Good night, FranMag, sleep well. Your brain has had its usual workout today!
now just have to find another 91 words and.......gonna be a long day!!!
bye! ((hugs all around))
oh Haz ... continuing on the Ireland cricket saga ... the coach who was found dead - his death is now being treated as "suspicious"
eek... that sounds evil enough to impale, Ata :(
I thought they had concluded that it was too much drink etc. What's the suspicion?
"Sprite the Impaler" - has a nice ring to it
Morning! Ten minutes before work
Jamaican deputy police commissioner Mark Shields said a full investigation has begun. He said: "Having met with the pathologist, other medical personnel and investigators, there is now sufficient information to continue a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Woolmer, which we are now treating as suspicious." Asked if he was saying that Woolmer had been murdered, he replied: "No, we are not saying that."
Good morning Alleyn!
Hi Alleyn
apparently *something* was found in the hotel room that changes things
It's beginning to turn into a bit of a nystery. We await further developments....
lol lynxxx :D Hi Alleyn!
back later - need to do 'stuff' outside before pitch black
yes! all very strange
Morning all!
Good morning Goosey.
Haz - your icon more appropriate than mine this morning. My daffs are flattened with the snow.
What a shame! It's actually quite nice here today so I should update it with something more appropriate.
hi Goosey
I am off too, have fun today with this great grid :)
Bye sprite - have a good day.
Een goede dag verder, sprite
Good day, folks
Good morning BabbleRabble.
Morning BabbleRabble
a man of many talents, BabbleRabble!!
we all have our talents
Still looking for mine!
You'll have talents, Goosey - just ask people nearest to you and they'll identify them for you.
Not sure my sons will agree at the moment Haz.lol
ALTHOUGH - when you see people with not a note in their head, telling judges on these talent shows, that all their family and friends think they're wonderful - you've got to wonder....
although they do assure me I'm great at moaning
Don't call it moaning, call it constructive criticism.
Thanks for the support Haz - good thinking
What ages are your sons?
I wish I had a talent for wordgames!!
18,21, 23
Eldest just returned from 6 months in Australia - what a differnce now he's home again. lol
Well, at least you're nearly out of the teenage phase. I'm loving the novelty of hearing my daughters admit sometimes 'You're right' (They're 23 and 20)
Did he have a good time? It seems to be a mecca for the young.
He's had two winters out there playing cricket and having a great time - now he has to start working for a living
And that's another novelty - getting a cheque for her keep from my older girl who's now working.
Going to buy a suit today for job interviews next week.
Now that I look forward to Haz
hi7,36 please
hi+cons+ci4/5
At least your son came home Goosey, my youngest son has just told me his leaving date for Australia is 1st August. He, his wife, 1year old baby and their dog are going to Brisbane to live
And by the sound of things you're not too happy?
Sorry - Wren. I t wouldn't surprise me if mine decides to do that too
No, I'm not, but what can I say? It's their life and I can't interfere. My Mother wasn't too happy when I joined the Wrens, and eventually lived in Malta for three years, that's what she said to me then "it's your life"
Do they live close to you at the minute, Ex-Wren?
Yes, all my children live within 5 miles of me
Queensland is a great place to visit ExWren - lots of lovely trips for you - and free accomodation to boot (I hope)
So, it's really going to hit home - this sounds stupid because I know you'll miss your son, but the baby going will be awful. I know that grandmothers are a breed apart.
Morning all
Hi Frances
Good morning, Frances.
Haz, I have just changes my icon to show Charlie's picture
Two weeks ago we were walking around without jackets. Today it is freezing.
Gosh, he's on his feet! What a lovely little boy.
He's nearly 14months, and has a lovely nature. I hate the thought of him growing up on the other side of the world.
Guten MOrgen, Babblers of the British Empire! Couldnt sleep, so here I am at 44 words already
Morning inge
And I can quite understand that, Ex-Wren. It's going to be an emotional time for all of you.
Guten Morgen, inge.

drat - my phantom word today is ulterior
re8.40 ends in a canvas dwelling.
.........as in motive!
Sorry I don't have any more - I'm taking a break and will come back shortly. (I'll look for that other re8/40 first though....)
re7.32 & 8.45 are followers - French sounding & I associate these people with royalty
Thanks for that other re8 - off now....
And for the re7 and 8 - a late surge. Really gone, now!

Hi Hursh.

seems like kind of a hard grid today
so far I like it better than yesterday
peri I don't think that was a clue. Just Haz getting two more words before going.
Peri - 'late surge' was not a clue - see me at 5.17 for r7&8

Good Morning,"SPRING HAS SPRUNG"........Yahoo :)

morning Hodag
gee, hodag, is northern MI ahead of us???
Hi hodag. Sprung backwards here - it is freezing!
i am having a smell hallucination of scrambled eggs and toast
this grid we get both the double o and double e, meaning spookie
We are suppose to hit 50f today with rain and warmer the rest of the week!!!
icer
I am moving over to the penalty box, too close to danger here
ur only allowed in the penalty box if its a word or all the snacks will be gone
Only scrambled eggs and toast in the penalty box left by hurshy!
I can't see why icer isn't a word - after all you have de-icer! Morning everyone
Hi JFB
hi ya JFB
I brought my own toster strudels, dont need eggs and bacon
and if you are guilty of icing in hockey, you're an icer, i should think
you gues just want me to put a REAL work into the chat, Je je
Of course inge! lol

G'd morning Babblers!
Good morning Lori!
Hi Lori. Welcome back Haz
WB Haz
Must go and do a few errands. bbl
hi ya Haz and Lori
Bye JFB
Bye JFB
***refusing to look at Lickety's, sensing a mass of re potential***
Hello Babblers!
Hello hodag and see you later, JFB.
Later JFB
bbl
Good morning Scrabbler!
G'd morning Scrabbler.
Hello Scrabbler
Later peri
Oh, Lori, re's in 3 directions--ominous
Guten Morgen, Scrabbler buddy!
***shudder***
there are only 25 R's, so... not too bad
I had an 11.5 hr work day yesterday and missed Babble SO MUCH!!
Howdy Scrabbler
Diving in------>
OMG 18 re's ***insert curse words here***
but at least half of them are not re-prefix
Teamwork, Lori, that is how they will get done.
well, I missed you Scrabbler.
You survived okay yesterday SCrabbler?
It was a long day. A partner is on a cruise in the Carribean, so I covered. It was long but not unbearable.
Glad. I know you were so thrilled about leaving yesterday morn.....
I find it so hard to exit Babble Land, esp knowing you are all he** and there are words to find.
scrabbler, do you mind if I email you about something medical? not about me or anything, but its stuff people probably wouldn't like to hear about!
good morning or whatever time it is for you.
i always enjoy hearing medical stuff
there
Good morning gramma.
oops sorry
Of course, Atalante! I'll do my best to advise.
I love medical stuff!
howdy grandma
yes, I know *you* do hurshy LOL
I don't like hearing too much medical stuff. Some things should be kept private......
G'd morning gramma
ty scrabbler!
But, Hazel, we do like to hear about the cows "scouring"---LOL
I don't go into detail, though!
hmm, can i fall back asleep now, i wonder?
We ran out of fuel last night and it didn't take long for the house to get quite cold.
yes, we like vet stories!
Oh gramma, that's terrible. Must be cold. It's cold here this morn.
hiree is so a word!!!!
**coffee refill**
Maybe it's not so much abstract medical stories that I mind, but too much personal stuff is too much.
argh, i wish the c touched an h
yes, abstract good - and ata already said it wasn't about her, so it's not personal
The fuel man came and filled us up ( it was their fault ) but then my poor boyfriend had to bleed the lines and get everything going again.
It must be cold, gramma, we are at 18 now and it was 12 when I went to bed last night.
Yes, but it's about a real person, so I respect Atalante's wish to preserve his/her privacy.
but medical stories pretty much have to be about SOMEbody
And I tried "roos"--DENIED!
anyway, of course, if privacy is desired. i just silly.
Stick a vowel on Scrabbler
Well, TY, Frances!
You're welcome Scrabbler
just discoverd that s in the corner, pluralled the whole lieft side!!!
henes
tieres
You go girl! Praise to the S God!
Inge, Inge!
giggling head off
but they generally have to be words in the first place in order to get pluralled :)
Dummkopf
Inge - you're showing great creativity in stretching words to reach that s...
LOL Hursh and Hazel
hey, scrabbler no four letter words in this grid!!
Guess what,go on guess. No, that's not it. Ok, I'll tell you. I have a new grandbaby! Madeleine.
Congratulations!
that is a pretty name
Congrats, Gramma! What a blessing!
TY
Great, gramma
how wonderful Gramma - lovely name
OK, Inge, I'll watch my "language".
Congrats gramma!
I hope she gives you as much joy as mine gramma. Congratulations.
I have a cousin called Madeline - a pretty name that's normal but not usual, if that makes sense.
How wonderful gramma..........:)
Her full name is Madeleine Mary, after me. (MadMary)
I'll tell you guys if Scrabbler confirms my suspicions :P
yes, that's just the kind i like haz.
Gramma, do ever read Yankee magazine--the column "Mary's Farm" is my favorite
i am going to try to get a bit more sleep now, see you all later
Bye hurshy
Nightie night, hurshy.
Sleep well, hurshy.
bye Hursh - good luck with the interview
**checking e-mail just arrived from the UK!!**

ty ty scrabbler
oops excuse the "t" sorry
YW, Atalante--at least Igave you some starting info to work with.
Hi Pida
It looks like it will be a good day, today. The grid doesn't look impossible, and the chat is interesting.
LOL, hodag, just thought that was your way to say Hi. Morning lynxxx
If I type senile in there one more friggin' time....grrrr
Lori, settle down, or you will get a time-out.
wow Lori,you sound like me!
***Sorry ma'am***
I passed the halfway mark, eyeing the list, unless you give me more clues
Is that a threat, inge, or an invitation?
I love all of these butterflys I am seeing!!
I keep typing senior Lori
We are he** to keep you calm and focused, Lori. The Babble Team is he** to support you!
Drop the i, Frances
a subtle way to ask for clues, so I dont need the list yet
Well, I have the a and b words done, if that's any help.
Yes Scrabbler I already have that one. But if we can have that, why can't we have herr
Enable editors are very choosy
Just strikes me as strange that we can have some foreign words and not others.
yes they are-darn it!! :)
ahh back to the German words, yesterday's grid had 12 good German wrods in it, none were accepted
It is quite inconsistent and unfair, I agree, Frances
Waaaah, I have to get ready for work. Good luck with the grid everyone! Enjoy the day.
see you later Scrabbler
Bye Scrabbler.
buh-by, Scrabbler.
Have a good day Scrabbler
Have a good day at work, Scrabbler
have a good day Scrabbler, hope it's not as long as yesterday for you! :)
Bye Scrabbler. I'm off too. Have to pick granddaughter up from school. Back later as four year old loves Babble to learn spelling.
Later Frances.
bye Fran
As to the foreign words debate - you clearly couldn't allow all foreign words into an English dictionary. The qualification must be that it has been assimilated into the language or that is is understood by the majority of users. But there are mystifying decisions, all the same.
HOLY COW!
how many words are in this puzzle? my trial has expired lol
other
I agree Haz
220 words, lynnate, Bye Fran
ty very much!

mousey, long time no see
What will you do with the kittens?
gramma - you can add a cons to the ci6.24

I use morewords.com rather than asking for clues
Ich auch.
interesting...
haz, were you here when some babblers complained about too much German in the chat? remember MickeyinBerlin?
rats. error doesn't work
trouble is I keep trying the words taht dont work
I was here - my complaints with Mikey weren't to do with speaking German! I suppose it is a problem if people don't understand - he just over-reacted when people put a different viewpoint.
up to 20
guten morgen Inge
yes, mickey was oversensitive and totally inflexible
Tag, whitewitch
I'm at 150 and have been for a long, long time. Very niggling grid!
boy , I just found two very strange ci words
I have 76 so far. Not good, I know.
do share inge!
can anyone clue me the an5?
yes do share inge
Well - I'm going to leave you niggling away at the grid and go to do some errands. I'll be back later.
they dont work, have to recheck
are those the ones that sounds like a string instrument inge?
there was definitely more than just german stuff to the Mikey thing!
i have an an5 that is an + w*** for a walk.
Later Haz
ok now I got them
ty hillary

yes Hillary
eyeman, are you still with us?
Ok...I can't figure out to have a th4/12 word
i can't work out how a 4-letter word is worth 12 points.
th5/12
the th 5 after over th***
sorry, I misculed you on that th word
i wasaying that it's a 5 not a 4
inge ur ci word does not add up for 7,32 i only see 6 letters

ci4/5 + after you wash you ***se
ci + th 5/12, change last vowel to cons

Still having trouble with ci7/36......you said "ci 7/32 : ci + **arly (almost) + opp. of out" RIght?

ty lynn and inge got it now
sorry forgot the cons. on first clue
tis okies hard to play and clue at the same time u lose ur train of thought
ah...that cons. made a big difference
ci7/36 is like a water source with a lisp . . . ci + th5/12 (change final vowel to a consonant)
LOL with a lisp. Well done une!
:-D
hey inge morewords.com is good....ty for sharing

The first te 6/21 is making me crazy
Temple, I would like to be in the studio when colamecco cooks, eat the food after the show, that would be a great restaurant, what you say?
it was perfectd, since I had found the er word earlier
inge, they never did! *shh - don't let them hear*
te 6 starts with number after nine
If the re 7 is a word, why isn't there a un 7 that's the same??????
te6/21 is a babblet--number + sound-alike for a car crash
yes! did you see these episodes? where he boned the chicken skin on and fried it butterflied, weighted?
then add ***creationn center
yes, I saw it previously, Tyler Florence does that one too
yes it's on applebee's menu now. but i don't likte that it
served over salad.
Finally! Bless you. Bless youa ll for the clues. I officially hate that word.
thanks Une and Inge
did those bistros sound expensive? i have not yet had the chance to look them up
Temple, didnt look them up either
19 words left to go, and I freely confess I found this one to be a grind.

220 excruciating words. I are done!

well done, Lori!!!!!
yay lorip!
congrats, lori!!!!!
wd lori
wtg lori
I think my IQ dropped several points on this grid, and I can't afford the hit!
Thank you all very much for the help.
yea Lori!
yes, i am finding this a hard grid...
well I have 9 words, but I've just started and my brain is out of practise
It's a sunny day, and I'm getting spring fever. I may actually go and clean something!
Thanks all for your help, and have yourselves a great day!
lori, you too!
cya lori, have fun
could I have a clue for the first and last CR6/21's please?
each day anew comes the maundering and kerfuffle that accompanies the challenge of the grid
hi babble
Say what BR?
hints for the T on the right?
Sorry, Jakes, I'm not that far yet.
hello, kate. glad you are doing well
thanks :)
evan --t plus he 5/14
heh, guess i need HE5/14!
evan t 6/21 ----ay, th**** the rub.....
cr 6 -- add the committee assembled for the me****g
that ones from the top T, i already have it
cr 6 -- add, what is extacted from mines, like bauxite
that's an odd one babble
ty babblerabble
evan, sorry wrong starting box, t + female fowl and start of a penny
he 5/14 --- another word for "ergo"
ah BR, much better clue
'roos' is not in the dictionary?
'roos' is not in the dictionary?
evan, did you get the th 6
not ergo, it means "from that time forward"
please excuse my nitpicking, it's a reflex
hey annie how are you feeling?
well, the he is from THIS time forward, the th is from THAT time forward.
temple, I'm okay and how is your aching back?
lol hurshy I'm picky too, I don't know how many times I've said "LY, it's an adverb"
thanks annie -- im kinda in + out today, but i got it. :)
it's not bad!
yw evan
there are more phantoms than words today, i hate when that happens. and the so-many-c's phenomenon
Temple, finally on the mend, glad to hear it, stay away from women on moving objects. lol
you can nitpick if you wish: as an inference from this fact; for this reason; therefore: The eggs were very fresh and hence satisfactory.
morning all
BR said a woooorrrd
for sure - no target for me ! ; )
true, the he can do both... i guess i was thinking about the th originally
hi nutsy is here!!!!
and i'm grumpy right now. sorry.
only for a short stint to spy on ya'll
oh yay. a puzzle with a milion phantoms
hi nut! finally get what i sent?
what's making you grumpy hurshy, can we help cheer you up?
yeah, but i could n't get the pictures
well then what's the point? wonder why?
i don't know what's making me grumpy. i guess maybe waking up in the night didn't help... job searching...
the grid...
i dunno owl, i tried to open them individual and no dice
yeah I'm not enjoying job searching either, there's loads going but none of them reply to my applications :'(
well then i must use them as icons - just for you!
job searching is a good reason to be grumpy. I'm doing it as well, and it's very frustrating
they must be good then
i have an interview at 2, kate, but i think it probably doesn't pay very much. this is the main thing that makes me nervous - do i take any offer i can get, or, since i've basically just started looking, should i wait for something i really want?
take a job hurshy, get in the swing, the market today expects you to move.
and how hard can it be, really, to do a mass mailing to the people you don't want to hire, and say, "sorry, not interested", so they don't sit there waiting and hoping
but nut, i have applications that have gone in very recently, for things i might much rather do. suppose this lady today offers me the job right away, and next week i find out i could do something much better?
leave it and take the new job
after a WEEK?
if its a low paying dead end they don't expect to be able to retain the good employees
don't answer today..tell her you need a couple of days to consider it
hurshy, I've learned one thing since working in a corporate environment, they do NOT care enough to send out a "sorry but no thanks" letter
hurshy at least you have an interview, I've been applying for stuff since before I left the UK and had nothing so far
kate - I may be able to help you out...where have you applied?
have you tried temp agencies, kate? i'm interviewing with one of those on monday.
owl, did you see the phantom...hernia?
yeah. I have a job, and am looking for another. I'm either under qualified or over qualified, and in this small area... there's not a lot available in my field
to be sure kc, willingness to relocate certain helps in hunting
i had like 3 or 4 interview opps in boston but then i decided not to move there after all so... plllt
I'm applying for web design work, I've applied for jobs and projects from monster.ca and craigslist, and I've joined a couple of online agency things but had no luck at all so far
web design? ok...let me see if I can find you some leads...I work for a web design firm...
wow, look at the networking!
will send you some info via email in the next few days
there are loads of help wanted signs in stores around here but I don't think I really want to be in retail, if I don't get something soon I'll have to start applying for them though :(
back to working speaking of work...ta
thanks rae that would be helpful
evan, unfortunately relocating isn't an option right now. The mr has a really really good job and we're in a good place
it's hard to get jobs in the TO metro area though: are you ok working outside toronto?
I think my main problem is that I know html/css inside out and I can comply with accessibility guidelines with my eyes shut, but I don't have a portfolio full of amazing designs, I'm more interested in the code than how pretty the page looks
I don't drive, so it's pretty much got to be in toronto
holy cow...if you lived here, you'd be working with me...we are looking for another coder
lol maybe I picked the wrong city
bye all! later...
(is it just me, or could coding be done at a distance, telecommuting...)
bye temple, see you later
laughs...I'll see what I kind dig up for you in TO
hurshy, it can but most companies don't like to do it that way
yes hurshy I've applied for some telecommuting work at home type jobs but not heard from those either
it's just that I know shoppers in MArkham is hiring web techs
even here as loose as we are, we prefer to have people here for collaboration etc
markham, I think that's where my mum works, the subway goes there, unless I'm thinking of the wrong place
MOST jobs can be done at home these days, but companies wanna actually be able to *see* you...
i don't get that at all. when are companies going to start realizing that technology and people's lives mean working from home and/or at a distance is the way to go
honestly, I don't know toronto AT ALL! but you should call up Shoppers Drug Mart head office and ask if they are still looking
it's so STUPID that they are stuck on that.
well, honesty, our experience, our people can work from home if the need calls for it, but those who were remote located, 4/5 weren't doing what they were supposed to and the 5th only sorta
also Rogers communications
thanks rae, I'll look into it
i agree hurshy! my job is fairly lenient on that -- we arent allowed to make it a regularly-scheduled thing to work at home, but if im feeling a little under-the-weather or if i have a reason i need to be home + dont wanna take the day off, my boss usually lets me log on from home...
if you go to www.rogers.com, they are looking for techs in toronto
I'm jumping in late here, but I'm seeing coders and designers... if any of you are interested in working remotely, I can get your resume to a couple of firms in Texas (San Antonio and Austin)
hmmm. see, i would do what i was supposed to do, so maybe that is why i think it is silly.
vpchat I don't think I'm authorised to work in the USA
yeah I know hurshy. I actually work harder FROM home
I work with contractors all over the world :)
I don't think you have to be leagal...most companies will take anyone nowadays!
as someone who works primarily from home, it's not always so great. the boundaries between work and home become indistinct, and i find it refreshing to actually go to the office...
unless it's gov work
well I'm interested, as long as I'm "allowed" lol
agreed, bookgrrl - I've been an entrepreneur forever. Sometimes I had an office, sometimes I've worked from home. I'm working from home now, and think I'm ready for some office time - I don't get out enough!
yeah, sounds like it would be really interesting
I can totally see that bookgrrl. because the mr and work together work/home really have become almost the same
i'm actually at a coffee shop right now, just to get out of the house
kthdsn, send a resume to me at julie@vpchat.com
ok will do
vpchat.com is my company too, but the company I work with where we use all the contractors is at http://mediarich.net
heh. any need for a tech writer?
man alive, there are two ci7's! groan.
And they're both weird.
ci7/32 and ci7/32
We are actively looking for coders (html, css, php, xml), designers (graphic/interaction/interface), flash designers/programmers, and copywriters
I didn't think playing babble would help with my job search, I should come here more often!
oooh I do xhtml, css and a little php
no tech writing at the moment, but definitely send a resume kc8501 - it's a growing company.
yeah, you just never know :)
well, can i have clues for the ci7's?
heh. what could it hurt right?
that's right :)
good morning all
oh, just the first ci7
i got the second
any clues for te6/21 please, the second one?
ci7/32 - a cunning combination of a movie related word, and a Miss Walton.
with all these people, you're sure to get a nibble at least, kate
movie place + first 3 letters of an ice skating place
cinerin
sorry!
lol, good thing i'm fast :)
Round of applause for raelite as she goes to the penalty box....
spank, spank, spank!
*places croissants and hot chocolate in penalty box for raelite*
*penalty box face
oooh that sounds nice annie, can I go in the penalty box too?
mmmm thanks annie
cinerin (i just want some croissants)...*smile*
yeah come on in kate, there's plenty
i loooooove croissants
lol bookgrrl
sure kate
se6/21 please, second one
must be off, bye everyone
bye annie
bye annie
cya annie
tip: add an unexpected vowel to the yellow veggie. then add another vowel to THAT. those are 2 weirdos.
that is so not a word..
perfectly normal words!
sorry, it's te6/21 I need, second one
atalante!!!!!! good golly, you know too much.
:P
thanks for the tip, hurshy :)
i need a cre6
clue for the OC5/12 plz?
I need 151 words
oh hurshy ......
cre + a metal
She'll not be happy when she gets it.
ok ok, i'll look harder
you really are a cre*** (snerk)
hi haz
Hello kth.
hi haz
i would have got it! i think!
Helo jakes-mum - I just jumped back into the conversation without saying I was back.
i love my love with an M because he's meowy
need re7/32, any clues please?
i don't love him quite so much with an M (i could never hate him...), because he is mischievous
his name is Marty, and he lives with his Mom
and because he manhandles mouses madly
re7/32 - follows people of importance
ah, well, he would if he had any mouses. i suppose you could count his fake mouses.
And when they're really important, they have more than one, re8/45
thanks Haz, will work on that
manhandles material mouses madly then!
oh i forgot the bit about what i feed him
You're welcome, flosey.
what's an M word for kibble?
meal?
thank you
munchery
i feed him on Munchy Meal
I didn't get the important people clue
marty mouthing marvellous munchy meal
nor I Kate, still trying to puzzle it
re7 - lesser people would call them hangers-on.
bo-ther-ation, how am i to get aNOTHER en6/7 combo
make me quit trying heretic...
oh good at least it's not just me being thick!
lol, I'm feeling pretty thick right now !
It's the same structure as the latin plural re7/28 eye related word, just change the penultimate vowel.
ah ty, I wouldn't have got that from the previous clue, never heard of it before
i did it!
wd hurshy
Really? I thought it was quite a normal word. Anyway, glad you got it now.
i agree haz, normal wordies
i'm not DONE kate, just found my en's
that still deserves a wd lol
I'm still puzzled !!
how many en6/7 combos are there, I have 2
is the hi7 as fishy as the cr6?
that's all kate, and then one other en6, and that's all the en's.
boy... I could go for some hot ham water right now!
hazaa! hot ham is here!
lol\
Okay, re6/18 is a part of the eye. re7 is the latin plural. The re7/32 is exactly the same as the re7 eye one, except for the second to last vowel. It is changed for a later alphabet one.
re7 rhymes with petting zoo
lol
(if you're a g dropper)
hi7 - I've never seen it before. It looks like a new classification of animals or something.
darn, I've been asking for the wrong one - it's the first re7/32 that I need
hi7/36 - a species of hairy animals. (thinking of an hi term for hairiness)
haz, do you have a clue for the hi7? it's hard
hmmm, ponders
are there only 2 re7/32's
flosey, to put something up again
3 pabtrek
Given below - think along the lines of bovine for cattle, feline for cat etc.
thanks jakes
np
got it, thanks Haz
That's good flosey.
there are 2 re8's I'm missing, any clues please
help again pls, ic6?
phantom: crier
flosey do you have re = ****** express train?
ic6 - remember when inge was being creative with her plurals this morning? Do the same with the ic4
ty
re8/40 - point yourself in a new direction, heading east
re8/40 - mirrors the structure of those who are doing penance.
that is a funny one
fireworks. Interesting grid today.
thanks haz, got one
Congratulations, Angelsong!
still searching the first one
congrats Angelsong
hrmmm....working on that last one..
is the ne6 one o' them nymph ones again, cause there's no D... but... i dunno
think of the famous express train flosey
Those who are doing penance - think of the adjective that describes them individually and as a group, then change the first letter.
NO. i got it. don't clue it.
in indiana jones and the last crusade, when he has to get through those spinning blades, the clue is "only the pe****** man will pass"
sounds like paying for the temporary use of a canvas shelter
ahh, thanks!
clue please no 6,21
didn't have a wedding ceremony? then you had no6
no6/21 - sounds like a refusal to accept a coin
oops i clued the 6/18
you had no6/18 to do that, hurshy
hey i'll clue whatever words i feel like cluing. you wanna make something of it?
humanahumanahumana... nope
lol
We're hoping that counselling will curb hurshy's aggressive tendencies....
hi hurshy - no wedding, no rice? didn't work
no, the key was in the ceremony
But, I got it anyway
it would work for graduation too.
strider -- swap the C for a cross. ;)
hurshy - good clue, though
eh, 'sok
ah, finally got it Haz - whew! strange word
i like the petting zoo one better, lol
Glad you got there in the end, flosey!
not sure i ever got the petting zoo one...lol...what was it a clue for?
the re7/8 group of followers
and my last one - the second te6/21, please
yeah, i dont think i have that....repeat the hint?
re 8/40 please, the first one//
thank you, I needed all of the no 6 and thanks to the clues, I have them all.
it rhymes with petting zoo (if you drop your g's)
it's very silly clue. cracks me up.
"retinoo" ?? nope...thats not it...
yes yes
you just spell it wrong
re8/40 - re, plus baby louse, ending in the last three letters of a canvas dwelling.
ahh, the *other* "oo" sound. ;)
RE + to be con*****d :)
well it's time I was going, got to pick up my brat and go to the grocery store
thanks, haz......
good luck with the job hunt kate
You're welcome pida.
thanks flosey, bye all
That's my last re, time for a coffee break.....
bye , kthdsn
to everything turn, te4, te5...
Fireworks
well, im finally under 100 left to go...heh
WTG !!!!! flosey
I found this grid a tough one
i done too. yes, tough grid. i listed it for last 50.
Congratulations flosey!
but then, i was grumpy, so that may have made a difference.
thanks Haz - couldn't have done it without your clues
I agree, flosey. When I started this am, I was over-
confident, but I was put in my place , quickly.....
now must have breakfast and off to dr. appt. bbl
Glad to help, flosey - even if you had to work to get them figured out!
Congrats, hurshy !!!!!!!
Haz, the work is what keeps the old brain functioning
That's the right attitude, flosey.
rah rah sis boom bah gooooooooooooooo brains!
i love brains.
they are so multi-talented.
i think we should have a national brain day, to honor our brains for all the hard work they do.
i *really* want "unicorn" to be an acceptable word
when i think about all the things my brain is doing at this very minute... it blows me away. and that just gives my brain yet another thing to do! man, brains are cool.
how would one celebrate brain day?
it is an acceptable word, it just doesn't exist
one would ponder the greatness of the brain (thus using the brain at the same time as you are honoring it)
id like to honor my brain by giving it a vacation....
and yknow, if i HAPPEN to be attached to my brain, i guess i sorta HAVE to go with it...
well, there are weekends for that.
only te's to go
not MY weekends...my bring still has to work, just other kinda of work. :(
Unzip scalp; push 'open cranium' button; remove brain; gently put brain upon silken pillow; create special truffles for brain; dance; tip a few; reinsert brain in cavity and offer gratitude.
I suggest a day when you ask your brain absolutely no 'why' questions.
And will that have the same effect as a facelift?
but scarlet, how can one perform those activities without the brain to tell the body to do them!
Ahhhh... THAT's why we have brains in the first place...
Facelifts are optional, Haz... more of a headlift...LOL
Good morning, Scarlet, by the way.
Hello, Haz. And a good morning to thee.
second en 6/21 ?
en 6/21 --> the whole thing
My better half is ready to go shopping... will return later for the last 43 doozies! Good Babbling to all.
See you later, Scarlet - you've been busy in the background, obviouslyl
woops - that was 6/18 - 6/21 is repeat performance
And bless you hurshy for thinking of honoring the brain. Yes, I have, Haz.
Hey! We have a German! I just got back from Germany wehre I was visiting my East German boyfriend.
finally! FINISHED !!!!! :-)
en 6/21 --> the whole thing - isn't that the en 6/18, grw ?
Well done jakes-mum! (more than a little relief, there)
where in east Germany kittychan?
where in east Germany kittychan? I am from the east....
congrats jakes-mum
4 bi 4's, bi 5, bl 4, 5, 6, 7 then bl 4 and bl5 x2
what B am I missing????
en 6/21 is to tempt someone
He grew up in Chemnitz and now lives in Munich
not fare from my home town
KC there are 2 bi5's
both are plurals
I went to Chemnitz to meet his parents and I enjoyed it very much
ok. thanks...
np
hi megz
jakes -- bi plural?? two of them??? regular plural or the latin plural?
sorry one 5 plural, one 5 word who makes the action
my mind isn't with it today, I have an excuse, i'm getting married on saturday so my mind is all over the place
oh OK--ty, I was wearing my fingers out trying to come up with combos that would work. :o)
ahhhh, congratulations jakes!
Congrats!
sorry nonnie :-(
That would tend to be a distraction, jakes-mum!
np jakes--I appreciate any and all help.
i've got the whole lot of the in laws converging on me on friday, so am frantically cleaning every night
Are the kitchen cupboards done? You know they'll want to inspect them.
A whole lot of work but I hope you take time to enjoy yourself and have a wonderful day!
congrets jakes and good luck
LOL haz
thank you all, I shall enjoy the day, on the day, at the moment i'm just panicing over all the little things
My poor boss has given up trying to get me to do any work lol
It will all come together...it always does.
jakesmum My inlaws came monday night
It'll all be grand. Just enjoy yourself.
White Witch - let me ask you a question - have you ever heard of the first name Pitt? Is it as unusual as my boyfriend says it is?
gma, gpa, 20 mo and 3 yr old niece and neph they're raising.
bless them, I have nanny, gpa, 3 aunts 2 uncles 2 neices (bridesmaids) 1 nephew (usher) and a girlfriend coming lol
Are they ALL staying with you?
i think i have heard that name before, kitty
he's never met or heard of anyone else with that name and he is 43
oh sorry 4 aunts! um 1 aunt and all kids are at my house with hubby to be, me and Jake are going to my mums
and it is an unusual name....
everyone else is staying at the hotel where the reception is
were his parents born in germany?
yes
Dad, are you there? I had to change my name.
Good gracious! A house full but sometimes those make for the best stories to tell later!
hi megj
Dad!!!
How are you?
too true, though my lad is moaning because he can't stay at home and sleep in his bed, he has to come with me
send e-mail with ruth's number i will call you
They are all travelling over 200 miles to come to the wedding bless them.
sorry I missed the clue for the te 8. Could I have one pls?
Ah, poor thing. I bet he'll have fun though. Isn't family great. Mine came from all over the country when our two daughters got married. Now I'll have to return the favor when my nieces and nephews decide to tie the knot!
te8/40 - a type of rock, I think. Combine a Pavarotti or a Domingo with a rearranged men's item of neckwear.
Te8 = number + vowel + opp of wrong (funny spelling)
thks jakes mum - I was trying that but didn't think it fit.
ah, a singing rock! ty haz
You're welcome!
He'll forget all about it when he gets to mums as my sister and her fiancee are going to be there aswell and as they have no kids they have bags of time for him
th 6,24 please
ae 5 please?ty!
th6/24 = th + garden surround (take off first letter)
th6/34 - an old-fashioned term of direction. Ends in plural pennies.
ai5 = the nest of a bird of prey
ae5/10 - if you added an F at the front, you'd have a Kentucky babbler.
Thanks Haz. I thought of that but couldn't find it ... started with the wrong T.
You're welcome, Merk.
thanks haz!
You're welcome, TO - you came into the room very quietly.
sorry...on the cusp of lunch ...don't tell my boss
Hello everyone...
hello douglas
hello douglas
hey douglas
hi douglas
Hello Nonnie, mum, hurshy, pabtrek...
Well done, TO, for using a word from yesterday's? grid..... On the cusp of having some cups of tea...
beautiful icon, douglas
Dad, im on moms account, did you get my email??
thanks Nonnie...
on the cups of getting fired LOL
Oh, I hope not!
I made a special effort to cut out a square shape so that it wouldn't get stretched in a funny way...
or the cusp : /
HI all 2nd en7/32 please
yes it is nice
Ya, I hate the stretching in a funny way thing. It looks real good.
hi peri
In the movie "Yellow Submarine," the Beatles said "To the skirmish let us *****!" and "I think we should stop sitting on the *****."
hey TO
Fireworks! What a grid!
YAY for Merk

et6/21 - sounds like a gas and gas plural.
hi temple, hi inge and haz
thanks Haz
Hello Annie - and welcome back inge.
ditto
You're welcome, peri.
I was hoping octene would be a word, but it isn't...
bye
Bye Annie...great icon...

te7/28 - when you find them, they are both pronounced the same way.
thanks jakes-mum
np peri
got bot te7 thanks jakes-mum and Haz
hmmm, its 4:10pm I really really should start work, I don't want them to say I have done nothing ALL day . . . .
You're just too dedicated, jakes-mum....
....'still thinking about leaving'....
Beautiful soup, so nice and green...
On the other hand, there are people here who still haven't found all the words. Where does your duty lie?
well I can't just abandon my babble friends! what if they need clues!
That's what I'm saying - there's more to this work thing than meets the eye.
my duty always lies with fellow babblers! and I do work for my mum (who isn't here today shhh) so a few more minutes wont harm
Is your hubby-elect aware of and ok with your Babble priorities?
And I don't want to over exert myself this close to the wedding!
So, there's no real threat to your job. Unlike TO who risks the sack most days....
hubby to be knows the pecking order, Jake, Babble, Shoes, Chocolate, Him
As high up as that?
The hubby, I mean.
ohh no, if I wasn't here, who else would do the babble grid each day??!! If I didn't do it then mum would have to (she is just as addicted as me!)
well he does look after me quite well, so he comes above new clothes
I'm sure he's suitably pleased.
willl be back apres lunch
In "Life, The Universe and Everything," Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged called Arthur Dent a real knee*****
lol
See you later, peri.
bye peri
"suitably" pleased? Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk...
It was an accidental play on words.......
What's the green soup, Douglas?
and I would like to point out that I don't only play babble at work . . . . I ring my sister aswell (7 mnths pregnant with second child)
It's what it's served in, that sounds a lot like the two te7's
DAD DID YOU GET MY EMAIL? iTS mEGAN!
Any tips for clearing the old Lickety's Clues board. Mine is still there for 3/20. I tried Lickety's tips on the rt hand side of the clue board. Does this happen to anyone else?
So, you're a sort of life-coach, as well, jakes-mum?
lol
ohhh hello people :)
babble chat can be so amusing
Hello bex!
it's a bexillator again
exactly!! I have to check on the family health, stimulate my mind, feed the starving (hubby and the boss) by then i'm knackered
DAD DAD DAD DAD DADA ITS MEGAN!!!!
ohh the bexilator is here :)
who has time to work?!?!
Hello bex...
"Soup of the evening, Beautiful evening soup---"
DADDY!!!
Though I must admit I work for the best people, my mums business partner Jim (The MD) is always helping me & hubby out, he has given me friday off work to get the house sorted, I take time off to see Jakes school plays and the termly lunch visit and he never moans at me about anything (though that may be fear of my mum hmmm . .)
ok, who is megan's dad? cause she really seems to want his attention
excuse me....it's called IM. use it
I feel for you georgia - apart from Dad, do you know the player's name so that you can call him more directly?
It does sound yummy, doesn't it hetty?
It sounds like a good arrangement, jakes-mum. I may just apply for your job while you're on honeymon.
hello everyone
moon - honeymoon.
Hello Dorens.
Sure. As long as it isn't green turtle soup
i have 3 ul's and 4 un's--what else do i need?
anoth UN bookgrrl
probably un + lease
it's worth a go Haz, but can you keep up with my strenuous workload lol?
hi dorens! well time for a walk - see you later!
There's a point. I've been on maternity leave for a while (entering my 24th year now) so it may take a while to build up energy levels again.
and the downside of my job is that ocassionally you have to talk Jim off the window ledge when he has one of his frequent the world is Nigh moments (luckily we're in a one story building) a bar of bounty normally does the trick
There's no sewing involved, is there? Talking people down from ledges is one thing, but sewing.....
hmmm I di have to sew up my mums skirt once . . .
*did
yes, later owl
Well, that's it then - the job is yours!
lol
Does anyone in the UK refer to cigarettes as woodbines?
4:30 . . . . .do we think its to early to go home?
Speaking of ledges - has anyone seen the photograph of the latest addition to the Grand Canyon experience? It was in the paper today, and it made me feel queasy at the thought. I'll try to get a reference.
I thought cigars were woodbines?
i wish that the job search engines had a thing where you could search by education level required. lots of the jobs i'm looking at require only high school, and lots of others require advanced degrees or bachelors' in business or something else specific. i want to know what people with liberal arts bachelors' degrees can do, want to see the options...
it looks AMAZING!
People might have called them Woodbines years ago, they're a pretty old-fashioned brand.
Woodbine is a brand of cigarettes in UK.
The reason I ask is because Van Morrison made mention of woodbines in one of his songs...
Hi all, btw.
nevermind...*sigh*
hi jac
did you get it, book?
Did you see it Atalante? There is no WAY I could do that walk.
My dad always smoked woodbines. And of course there's Woodbine Willlie from WW1
sorry that was really lazy! Hello Jacula
I wanna go! IT looks amazing, but I love heights
haz, i have been trying (to no avail, of course) to figure out the hi 7 word. the only word i know that means hairy is not in this puzzle. can you help? :)
hi hurshy, and you're right, jobs should be sorted out that way
sorry...connection was reset; got my last u
whats wrong bookgrrl?
Van Morrison is from Belfast - not sure whether Woodbines would have been made by Gallahers (a local cigarette firm), but yes, Belfast people would have talked about woodbines years ago.
I still have an old woodbine packet that I kept after Pop's death as a memento
right, sorry all but hubby is tellign me I have to go home now, bbl
wooohoo, the town of avon is in receipt of my resume and i must fill out an application form for further processing! (they sure like to talk funny)
Hot Ham - sorry to be so cryptic. I was thinking along the lines of combining hirsute with porcine. An easier clue would be, hi, plus a movie related word, reached by way of a consonant.
Bye jakes-mum.
Re Woodbines - originally made in England by W.D. & H.O. Wills but now made in Ireland by Gallaghers.
ah--- now that makes sense, haz thanks
Hot Ham Water--try replacing the "h" of gthe word menaing "hairy" with a soft "s" sounding consonant; then add the frequent adjectival ending
at least i was thinking of the right word for hairy! hirsute was all i know, lol, thank you
Thanks for the info, Jacula.
Haz - Grand Canyon pics - http://tinyurl.com/33r5xu
oh, good to know cigarettes helped build my old office in Bristol
A pig with facial hair?
Thanks Atalante - warning to vertigo sufferers, pictures to be viewed with caution!
Or see what our brilliant HAZ SAYS
I just saw a picture in my mind's eye of Napoleon from Animal Farm, with a waxed moustache...
yup, Doug; they're called bristles
porsute?
Or google grand canyon skywalk. Excuse me, I'm feeling green about the gills.
pictures are interesting... don't know if I could walk on it myself though. I'm going to Arizona in a couple of weeks, so maybe will try it out
You're a brave woman, Dorens.
that is a very BIG maybe, haz!
Still, at least you're prepared to think about it. I have problems looking at the picture!
Just looked at pics of Buzz Aldrin walking it. I'd go on it but I doubt Paul would!
picture's worth a thousand words, haz.... and picture is probably as close to it as I'll get
I'd sooner put away everyone's shopping for a month. And you know how much I like putting away shopping!
speaking of pictures, jacula yours is lovely... i'm looking out at several inches of snow, but knowing that those flowers exist somewhere is comforting
And I must go - Spangle needs a walk so we'd better get on the move. Nice to see you Jacula - it's been a while!
ugh, 10 words left and i am stumped. is the first re 8 word recognizable?
bye hazel
ooooh Dorens, you have to try it!
hello all -- bye Haz... how is the grid today?
i was recently inn mexico atalante, at Tulum where there are gorgeous Mayan ruins right by the sea and i was afraid to walk down the steps to the beach below... it all depends on my state of mind... fear of heights is a funny thing. once it grabs hold of me, it is almost insurmountable.... but it doesn't always come
hi stid!
i can understand that, i'm kind of the same. normally, I'm absolutely fine and can prance around places like that Grand Canyon with no problem. But every now and again I would rather die than even look over the edge
*reading back in log* yippee for hurshy!
what happened to hurshy?
I can do mountains and cliffs and things, but I'll be d***ed if ladders are easy (though I can do it if I have a shot of courage first)
the town liked her resume and asked her to submit an application!
ah- I see.... best of luck to hurshy!
She is rejoicing over the the town of Avon being in receipt of her job application...
Thanks (re the pic) Dorens. 'Bye Haz. Sorry, I was off watching CNN footage of the Sky Walk.
Time I got back to my pile of ironing.:-( BBL.

hi all
hello TEA! how's tricks?
hi tea
slow today but otherwise well
a 14 yo boy admitting to starting the brush fire that we had on Saturday. I'm so glad I am not his parent!
slow is okay... breathe in, breathe out *closes eyes and meditates on spring's arrival*
oh man. that just stinks, Tea. that is the age where they start getting treated as adults even though they clearly are not there yet.
makes no sense, so often it is clear that the kid is troubled and is screaming for help... hope he gets it
hmph. that oo5 has been in the grid three days running...
yes it is finally getting imprinted in my brain (hard to teach an old dog new tricks)
well, one house was a total loss (three blocks from ours) and seven others were damaged. the power grid was down for most of Saturday and over 40 houses were evacuated. I'm sure he needs help, but I am having a hard time feeling sympathy right now!
if something can be earlier, why not so4ier?
oh my, tea. I u nderstand that. I was hoping it had remained just a brush fire
stid, it might have to do with the y in early??????
oh, of course *sorry, brain not fully engaged today*
Afternoon all........
today's paper didn't say how he started the fire and it did say that they were only recommending third degree arson, so it may have been an accident
stid, your brain not fullyy engaged still beats mine at fulll speed
me, too dorens - stid has a great brain!
okay, sa 4/5 is a word? that is weird...
Top of the morning, Stid. Got your messsage via Jilli and we discussed our lovely babble pals over Sunday lunch
stop it silly women! *blush*
i can't believe he would have meant to burn down people's houses... kids that age do love to play with little fires, and I'd hope that was all he had in mindd. still a powerful lesson to all who hear it of the power of fire and need for care
morning hetty! good to see you again.
hetty, I read the rest of the blog posts -- wow. I would never have considered Japan to have been a difficult stop!
I don't think it's difficult if you know the Japanese language and the ethos of never losing face
perhaps. still... at least new zealand sounded fun!
Hi everyone
hi peri!
Hi peri
hi peri - how goes it?
almost to halfway *fingernails getting shorter from picking up tiles and putting them back*
things are okay here, Tea, how about you, other than the fire
59 left but have had to ask for lots of clues,

is that the one that is related to culture peri? et**** heritage like irish, zimbabwean, mexican?
My sister is doing my taxes for me. Can't wait to see how much I owe the government :)
that's what I have, stid.
it is more of a spiritual journey stid
make sure you get teh federal excise tax refund - a whopping $30 minimum!
Oh, I was responding to a question which had nothing to do with decluttering :)
was that the tax related to phone
yes
only 6 to go from four boxes. So I will refresh my brain cells at the Y pool. BBL
but it applies for any phone line - cell, etc. pre paid phone cards, too!
decluttering always "sounds" like a good idea... *looks ruefully around office* but how to accomplish it without a match?
will have to remind my sister to include that
go inge go! (anyas wrath was on last night)
stid still looking for that et6
brb even the little dog wants attention today!
my best clue at 12:09... starts like laughing gas, ends like a person from the beat generation
your nationality is your et*** background
thanks for the cheers, stid. but I will go swimming first. then finish babble.
well, have a good swiim inge
thanks got the et6

stid have you baked or cooked anything good lately? I have not, except for an easy black bean soup
only a clam stew this weekend that would have benefited from potatoes (but we were out)
did you use fresh or canned clams stid
I have made a chunky beef casserole for tonight..anyone want to taste??
fresh. I haven't had canned clams in decades.
*sniff air* smells good caitlyn!
okay back to decluttering, see you later
later peri!

hi inge
wolvie one of the far right t's is the 6/21 which is the # past nine plus when we use to play music you listened to a ***ord
I have the eye related one RMB - it's my second 6/21
it makes a 7/32 as well
R.M.B. starts with the veg. and you find it in your eye!
do you have the trumpet, wolvie?
ahh - ty cw what is the other?
the eye related is the co6,24 right???
no - there is a 6/21 eye
co 6/21, then pl it fir the 32
nonnie - no I don't I must be spelling it wrong - I will look
how about the one after the 7,32
veggie minus the last letter + hair ***
rmb it's a kind of horn
that's the trumpet nonnie just clued. :-)
ty nonnie
plural of the eye, rmb

BYE
hi wolvie
hi eva - you just gave me an 8!! ty
glads to be of service! Do you have any of the others?
te 8 = male range of voice + ending for a rock?
the only other 8 I have is an opera singer plus ri 4 (ceremony) combined
nonnie clued it better. ;-)
thanks nonnie and wolvie!
the other two are re's and thus by definition evil
nah, wolvie--yours is good!
;-)
help, the first cr6,21
oh no - le sigh
I got another one!!! A queen, for instance, has a group of people who follow her around and are her re7/32, plural for re8/45
Begins like the eye part
ah! ty very much eva!!
don't you love it when you spot one? ;-)
so exciting! Especially when it's taken this long. I wonder if the missing one is also an ret? Seems most likely
eva, didn't get your clue
I'll trust you on that. ;-)
RMB, first 5 letters of eye part, meaning a group who trail behind someone important. then plural for 8
latin plural ending for the re eye one also!
have that nonnie, but it's only a 7, right?
got that one nonnie - do you have the last re 8?
yes, sorry--I forgot to say that :o)

You are my sane side, Dorens... it will come soon enough. I am inthe midst of preparing a welcome feast for our eldest daughter who had moved to Syracuse, NY, last June with two of our darling grandchildren... the winter was atrocious, so they are moving back to Upstate North Carolina, and will hit here on Friday... the cooking is on!! Then, I'll dig into the great change. LOL
I mean South Carolina... we live in NC, but they will be only 45 minutes away... :-)
anyone have a clue for the first th5?
oh that is great that they are moving closer to you. I am keenly aware, since my grandaughter is only (!) a four hour drive away, but her father's residency ends next year and he may end up in California, Chicago or Philadelphia.

Hi Minveryork. I'm half here and half running to deal with nausea to a second room. TMI?

Oh, feather, that's a good question. I'm actually quite blessed that this is the first chemo that's given me nausea. I can usually keep it down to once or twice a week so thta;s not too bad.
