Hey GW, how is the family? It is good to see you still around here.
We are all doing fine, Schro - unfortunately I am turning into a day person due to the job so I almost never get to be on this late
But Seb let me get two nights in a row of almost 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep so I am being bad and staying up late tonight though I have to be up to go to work in less than 6 hours
:-)
I know the feeling.....I still have the 2 job thing going on and had a little left in me tonight so I decided to pop in.

Hi Sprite

hi sprite -- missed seeing you last night/yesterday
hey jilli *hug*
how did you enjoy the 20 K words?
NOT!
they were nasty
felt stupid, as always with a K grid. I managed to come up with a longer combo, related to porcelain, since we do have that in Holland.... and totally messed up with the 4 letter ones.

Thanks, hodag.
YW :)
There is another me5/12 after the nasty me4/5 - you're looking for either the present or the past tense.
thanks got that one, two to go.
There are three me 5 in a row - me5/12 (the one lacking the im greatness), me5/14 - me plus the onset of illness) and me5/12 - anagram of first in series.
The very last me4/9 - pronounced like a stubborn animal, probably representing the sound made by a feline.
Hello everyone, I'm new to this game, I wondered how you guys (and gals) are presenting clues... what does "im" mean ? what does "me4/9" mean ? Thanks a lot !
Hi guix69,welcome to the grid...:)
me4/9 means a word starting with me, it has four letters and will give you 9 points (add up the tile score on the letters). Lots of information given in Help, above the chat, or if you would like to scroll down to Friends of Babble, click on Angelsong's Resource page, and much will be revealed.
fireworks!!!!
Congratulations elmer!
Thanks for the info Haz :)
You're welcome - I hope you enjoy the game. It is addictive, though.
seems to be, took me out of episodes of Battlestar ;)
Thanks Haz1558. I appreciate the help
So now you can get on with your day, Elmer - any big plans?
haz can i have the me "greatness ?
I worked all night. My big plans are some sleep and then if I don't have to work tonight I'm going camping with my family. It's spring break. I'm not supposed to work but the person that is scheduled has their dad in the hospital. Might need to work for them.
It's im7/36 - it means huge. When you remove the im fron the front, you get me5/12
tycm
way to go Elmer :)
You'll need to be adaptable, then. You obviously enjoy camping?
vm*
camping is the best!!!!!!!!!!! :)
I like it better when there is a camper involved, not the case this time. I like a bathroom.
I've only slept under canvas once - and it would probably be classified as cheating since there was a bathroom attached.....
I,ve camped in every thing I think and loved all of it :}
I like my comfort, hodag.
I like to camp but, alas I'm getting old and have a couple of bulging discs in my back, so it's not the most comfortable. But my husband always cooks great campfire food.
damn it's not that easy for someone whose language is not english ... :)
And that was another cheat - we had all our food made for us.
Hi guys, just got back from lunch and immediately monkeyed the ce7 & 8 combo....happy days
good morning everyone
It's not easy, even for those whose first language IS English! Don't worry about it, just enjoy finding what you can.
what is your native language gui?
guix69 sometimes its not easy for those of that speak it.
I hope so ;)
Good morning Isfult and Eva.
fireworks for me!
Congratulations Franmag!
morning Ishult and Eva gotta go anyone need help before I go?

when I was younger I really enjoyed our tent ,then we went to a pop-up,then a tag-a-long,then a 25ft.moterhome and now a 34ft. moter home but, thinking of down sizeing a little.
eva's arrival is my cue to get to bed, good night or good day to everyone!

Hello Andree and bye elmer.
Michigan,elmer
Hi Andree bye elmer
si6/21 please
bye , fran, elmer, HI everyone else
si6/21 is a type of cake traditionally served at Easter.
having probs with the outer As, any clues, please?
thx haz
Hi pead and liz
liz - a couple of them begin with a man's name (think of Apprentice Knight) and then add for al4/4 and three al5/10 in a row.
Sorry, how rude of me...Good morning all!
la5/12 please
There's also al4/5 - think of the Guinness Knight who built a wartime bridge.
would NEVER have found si6/21 without Google... :$
4th sunday in lent is simnel cake sunday
what did you google? I suck at google...
la5/12 - used in jousting, or as a means of extracting stuff from a boil
easter cake :)
oops
Thanks hillary - and off to the penalty box you go....
and i haven't even had a glass of wine yet.
I did too, and didn't get it...
thanks hilary!(-:
BBC site ... but hilary just gave it ;)
hi eva
yep and having disgraced myself i will disappear.*zappo*
hi 6a
thx haz
anyone have the 4th 8 - have ce & me x2
thnx, hillary. I would have never gotten that cake without you....Good morning
ty hillary,come on back!
Thanks Haz, that got me started.
ne 5/18 please
cl8/50 -males who belong
thanks Haz - will ponder that
ne5/18 - technical term relating to stairs and posts and things (I'm really up on technical terms!)
Chris - if you find the family (cl4) the males belong to it.
its ok - i have it
Mornin'. Ne 5 is the big post at the start and maybe top and half way, wherever on your stairs
Well done - it would make a good icon. Lots of rugged Scotsmen looking fierce.....
thx haz, 2 left
but i did miss that bloody volcano again!!
and thx gramma
Thanks - in times of bewilderment, FMitch gets us through!
Polite encouragement vibes heading your way, Andree.....
Hee hee, I didn't miss my favourite word.. EVER (ET**)
This grid feels like the old days with et4 and ne4/8,etc
ce6/24 please
ce6/24 - much used in modern buildings.
this on I got ;)
this one
Or in establishing and maintaining friendships.
I think it's a really nice grid.
Oh goodness - I've just realised that I've been confusing gramma with FMitch! it's the icon.....
thx haz
FIREWORKS
Congratulations Andree!
damn what about this "fireworks" thing ... :)
i HAVE FINISHED GUIX
At the very end of the game, when you have found the words, there's a little fireworks visual thing to indicate success. When people announce fireworks, it means they've finished.
gui, if you go "pro" then when you finish the grid you get fireworks
sorry did not mean to shout
good for you Andree ! congrats ! I'm faaar from the end !! :)
okayyyy, thanks Haz
thanks also Eva
never gonna see this fireworks on my screen ;)
you will get there guix and if not we have to remember it is only a game
well I'm sure I miss too much vocabulary in your language so it's gonna be really painful ;)
guix - it's a game that takes practice - just enjoy it. Too many new people think they HAVE to finish and push themselves to the limit. Take your time.
Fireworks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sure Haz, anyway I enjoy it already !
See my new icon , it's sort of a clue for CL8/50
goodnight all, happy babbling and congrats ishult
Well done Ishult! And guix - enjoyment is the key, glad you're getting the hang of it.
gotta get some work done now, any clues needed before I go?
yahooooo,Isholt :)
I'm heading off as well - dog to walk, ironing to do and the search for a handbag continues after lunch. Have a good day, all.
guix69,I have been playing for a year and have not finished a game yet but,I love to chat with every one and plaY just for the fun of it!! Enjoy :)
Good morning all
Hi ya Fran
Ok Hodag, I feel less lonely ;)

Hello and goodbye Haz
bye Haz and thanks for the help
LE7? please.
Fireworks!
WTG,Eva!
WTG EVA
yahooooooooooooo Eva! :)
WD Eva
gui, I rarely finish the longer ones. Just don't have the stamina. I just play for fun, and when it becomes hard work I walk away. You didn't say what your native language is?
CA 6/21?
Eva, my native language is french
like a wax thing that gives light, but change a consonant
CA is part of a western saddle
thnx
bienvenue(or something like that) gui
gramma le7/32 males that take photographs
TY
thank you Eva !! that's it :D
where do you live gui?
got the ca 6/21 ! :)
time to go. It is going to be a nice day and I think I will start on some yard work...bye all.
I live in Lyon, roughly 100 miles south east of Paris
i would love to visit lyon sometime; i hear the food there is the best in france
Except the penny word, I have none of the CE's
I spent 4 rather miserable months in Lille in 1972. And when I tell people they always think I'm sayng Lyon, since no one here knows about Lille. For good reason(-:
I totally agree bookgrrl :) plenty of nice things to taste here, as well as in other regions actually, sooooo many good things to eat in this country ;)
not gettin the ca6,21 !!!!!!
think french coins phan-for the 7 & 8
lol Eva !!
I know Lille, I used to lived close to Lille
those ce's should be easy for you gui!
I got the ce 6/24
"the 7 & 8" means ?
my colege boyfriend did his phD thesis on the series of textile strikes that happened in Armentier at the turn of the century-that;s why we were in Lille.
hi everyone
there are 2 words beginning with ce, one is 7 letters long and the other, it's plural, is 8. They are french coins
okay ! ahhhh french people, famous for always being on strike ;)
got the CE 7 & 8 now thnx
grave was one of the first words I learned in france, as there always was one
Eva, got the two "ce"s :) didn't know these words existed in english
it's spelled grève but sounds the same :)
you will find a fare number of french words are allowable here-it's always worth trying them.
any clues for that E in the top corner all by itself?
my french spelling is execrable!
I still need the 1st 3 CE words
Hello everyone
hello scrabller
scrabbler
hi scrabbler. Time to feed Merp (it's oddly hard to see through a cat to the computer screen)
Welcome, guix!
good morning
Gui-if you enjoy playing, it's worth it to go pro, after your intgroductory period, because there are some helpful guides which will dispapear otherwise, it supports the game, and you can personalize your icon
Hi momof3boys!
Eva, would you mind giving me one clue about ... let's say something beginning with E ? to see if I can find it ...
how is everybody today?
gui-there is actualy a french e word-to do something with spirit is to do it with el__
How about the lonely E in the top corner :)
and then make it plural
elan
oups
sorry :)
The caffeine level is zero but about to shoot up--I will be fully conscious soon
lizmac, it's a man's name -- double up your cons.
TY guix!
you got it!(-:

you got it, i will! thanks.
I'll bbl to finish last 24
bye Eva and thank you !
Off to do "stuff". BBL
Funny icon, lizmac!
got this one liz but it was just luck
do some stuff for me too, liz!
Icon is a kind of hint for CL8/50
I got the cl4, so I will look to extend it now
Anyway, must go. BBL
is there a way to print the list, so i don't have to keep jumping back from screen to screen...way too much energy!
that's great, liz -- I recently traced back some grandparents to two cl*** in Scotland. Knew about the Irish side but didn't know how close (and how extensive) the Scots side was.
mom why not reduce the size of your babble window and open a new window just down the side of your screen for the list
got the c4 but not the c8 linked to it...
Yes, there is a spot to click for the printable view, or under Babblers Anonymous there is a link for BJ's list
If you have a full pack of paper there is a link on Lickety's list. But be warned it consumes paper!
gui, plural your c4, then add plural males
i tried that frances..i keep losing one or the other, or chat.....
guix cl8/50 male tribes people
TY ch1212 :D
momof3boys, what I used to do was copy the list from babblersanonymous onto a word doc then highlight all and put into columns -- that way all fit onto one page
TY ch
whoa ch..you give me wwwaaayyy too much credit. that would require knowing what i was doing!!! i am computer illiterate... LOL
wow..that was the easiest set of w's ever.
only found é w's so far
2 w's

just play around with them...they will pop right up
You motivated me to do the W;s, mom, and I found them all
they were an easy set, right??

as good as babble
I always feel very inferior when I see all the words I missed on weboggle.
I'm a new player and I am getting "word does not exist" for words I know can be made. What's up with that
thank you charm :)
word does not exist in the puzzle is prob the message you are getting
if a word is not a good word then it says word cannot be found in dictionary
It is...but when I see the letters right there in front of me, whyd o I get this?
probably, the letters aren't connecting the way they should. those are 'phantom' words to us.
they have to touch and you cannot use one twice
yes, but do the letters connect in such a way as to make the word?
also they cannot be proper nouns
so even though I can see the letters, for some reason I can't use the word lime or cart?
the letters have to connect in a consecutive way
Any clues for the SN word, monkey can't find it!
correct AUS
they do not connect to make LIME
hi everyone,
sn4/8 is a stoopid word, think white stuff from the sky with a diff vowel
then apparently I don't read the puzzle help correctly for instructions. They have to be touching each other?
i need ce 6/24 please

oops, i asked a point total and then went back to job hunting...
Bye Nono
bye Nono... everyone is leaving :(
1256
thanks niamn, I have that one
Hi Hurshy. How is the job hunting?
hi hurshy
it's ok
alent
well fiber, all the 5/10's start with that guy's name, if that helps
thanks inge
no, just making a funny...
wow
any bites, Hurshy?
ok i need some big points then
sorry, wrong anyway
i had an interview, i think she would hire me but i didn't really like it
I'm sorry, Hurshy. Something will come along, I am sure of it. :)
i have another interview on monday with a temp agency, and also an interview with another company.
another clue for the em 5 please
well, better for me not to like it than for her not to like ME, lol
doc brown from back to the future
I wish you the best, Hurshy. This is so true
in the job i interviewed for, i would be alone most of the time, and the office smelled smoky
so, i think it is not for me.
oh yuck.
I'd say not.
8 to go--thanks for al5,12 clues
29 here and stuck, bbl
alea
Bye Peri
mi 8 please x
Sorry M3, I odn't have it
Don't *
there is no mi8, M3
mi 6 sorry
LOL
Listen to this. Just read in the German newspaper: a set of parents left their 4 and 7 year old daughters in the woods (Black Foret) becasue they didn't pick up their room.
ce 5/12 please?
some job titles sure do sound funny
cash applicator (i'm picturing someone doing decopage with dollar bills)
that is awful, inge
My mother used to always threaten to take me to the Black Forrest!
thanks INGE will pass that on to my boys, we live near a forest !!!
jm - i have a cixth ce5/12
Inge, that is terrible. Are the girls okay?
ok stuck on 40 to go =]
si 6 ?
good clue hurshy
this mother felt she had to carry out her threat, and the boyfriend drove them into the woods, ahiker came across them and reported to the police
I owe you an appology Fiber, I thought I had all the a's and I don't... work can be very distracting at times!
the children were reunited with their mother!!!
oh geez. I guess it was all the boyfriends fault then.
Oh now thats silly, is always the boyfriend, i bet the mother were fine with them before the new bf!
i say dump the BF not the kids !
clue for c5,4
Studies show that children are not safe with men who are not their fathers. It's a sad reality.
German court is considering lack of parental care accusaton
some children are not safe with men who ARE their fathers
children are more likly to suffer harm or abuse from ppl they know then a complete stranger.
i need, em 5, mi 6, si 6, sm,5 ??
et 4/4 please?
sm 5/12 is melting iron
jmc et = mountian !
et 4/4 is volcano
em 5 -- pismire
ahh
I think there is a lot of truth in that, Kittychan. There have been several deaths of infants here from boyfriends
et is our volcano in Italy
Hi Bookwomen and Babblerabble
em 5 famous clown Em Kelly
cant get the em!!
et4 -also an insurance company
speaking of said boyfriends, I want slime to be a word
hello everyone.
anyone have the MI 6?
I think this slime will escape to friendlier confines
mi6 - encountered but not well
not me M3
this site is so handy, i feel like i'm cheating http://word.sc/
are we not friendly here, Babblerabble?
You are not slime.
I was talking about the boyfriends that have girlfriends with children and they do them harm
i need a clue for c4, 5
teteck, what is the second letter?
rather, c 5, 4
I think in that case that we need to give credit where credit is due, that mom should not have let it happen
i have no idea
Amen, Niamh
i just have a board in front of me
well you have to admit that boys are rather outnumbered here...
lol, teteck means (i think) the c in the 5th column, fourth row
we need more boys... that's true!
yep
i must apologize for my gender :(
yes, they are. I would not offend Babblerabble to anything. I am so sorry of I upset him.
for*
in which case, the word is shakespeare was born c**** 16something
if*
darn it, I can not type
sucran
I don't think it's a gender thing, I think it's a slime thing... women can be slime too! equal opportunity and all
we don't tend to identify things that way, teteck, so nobody knew what you meant
someone tell teteck about the lists, i can't do it
how do you identify things then?
agreed, Niamh
(not that it wasn't a lovely way to identify things0
the two numbers we use say how long the word is and how many points it's worth
come back brabble!
Teteck, I understand now since Hurshy explained it.
Oh dear. I think I have offended him.
how do you access that information?
we just have to be sensitive to our nice boys, remembering how we feel when we are in male-dominated settings
i only have tile stats and word stats
you will only have those stats for two weeks unless you go pro - a step i recommend :)
there is a link at the bottom called lickety's babble clues... that has the list
however, the lists are free
snap!
In no way was I suggesting that anyone here is slime. I was meaning that boyfriend that Inge was talking about and the boyfriends around here that have done harm to llittle children.
yeh, pro rocks!
heck of a deal, too
I agree jm
hi everyone.. just back from the dentist.. have to get a crown done, groan.. but the dentist was very kind and very gentle, so that was good..
hi Aloy
Hi Aloyisius
I need to go. Bye everyone
bye Mom
not a very large grid today, I see.. hope a lot of weirdo words are not lurking.. see you later, Mom
How wonderful to have such a lovely dentist. Is your mouth still numb?
Bye Niamh and Aloyisius
we HAVE had some slimy characters here though
trollses
hello all - just finished, does anyone need any clues?

Hi All I am new and dont quit get the idea, pls give me onew owrd from thispuzle so I can see how it works
(I particularly like the verbal clue in your bio!)
me 5/12, the fourth one please
hello CapeCodBob welcome to babble:) if you scroll down the pa
hi, bob. in the 'add word' box, enter a word (4 letters opr more) that you can construct using adjacent letters in the grid
does anyone have the la 5?
scroll down to licketys babble clues thats also useful
me5/12 - if you remove the im from the front of the huge im5, you're left with this.
la5- a man's name, or as used to joust.
ty haz
Hero: medieval battles usually involved this kind of a weapon
You're welcome.
me5/12 ... just change the 3rd and 4th letters around on the previous me5/12
thnx
add a letter to that la5 to get the name of a British medical journal
(also a little uncomfortable medical instrument)
Ex is "newt" allowed four letters qat top left?
thanks mo FIREWORKS
enter it and find out!
wahoo magzel!!!
congratulations magzel:)
you're notified if the word is accepted
for the most part, folks try to avoid giving words in chat -- sticking to clues instead
CapeCodBob: sounds like you're off and running. Warning though; this game is addictive! (-:
how do I play this?
magzel well done.
Hi Hank - above the chat box is a help link - that might be a good place to start ;)
Hi Hank: start by clicking "Help" right above the chat box... then if you have more questions, click on "Babbler for Dummies" below
o k thanks
welcome to babble Hank:)
hrm, I'm having a tough time with the e's and a's -- are many of them uncommon?
the a's are common or at least frequent babblets
e's same, except for em5/14 (doc brown from back to the future)
heh, I can't tell the difference between common and frequent babblets anymore ;)
two AL boys' names
and the first of them has 3 5 letter words that begin with it.
thanks - I'd tried some other spelling of that em5
ah! now I'm off and running. thanks hursh
going to dash, bbl hopefully happy babbling everone, and good luck to the two new people hope to see you again
ciao jean
later, jean
bye Takuma Sato:)
Hi everyone
hi peri
Time for me to run, too. I've got a conference to attend. good luck all!
bye, Takuma
man, i cannot get this last me 5/12 (last on on the list)
jm, just switch the 3rd and 4th letter of the me5.12 before it..
evening all and you jean
howdy, lain
aloyisius, i think i got those
jim are u related to the weather guy on weather channel?
ok, jm I am going to the list right after a short break.. those are the only me5.12's i have so far.
are anyone else's chat timestamps wrong? mine are 1 hour off
whoops... I have two more.. and the last one is to encounter in the past tense + i am, you are, he she it **
timestamps aren't wrong; that's chicago time
where babble originates
YES jm, becauase Dr. God our babble boss is in Chicago, so the grid functions by Chicago time
brb
strange.. showing a correct timestamp based on timezone is pretty trivial, i wonder why it wasn't implemented
cause teh grid changes accoridng to Chicago time, i.e. 1 p.m. on the east coast
I am off to do some reading, Auf Wiedersehn
if it were implemented such that the whole app ran on universal time, it would be easy to show correct times no matter where you are in the world
i'm being nitpicky :)
you can e-mail Dr God, look on the bottom of this page
i may do that :) does he/she have a better response time than Mr. God?
I am absolutely stuck on le4,4 and le5,10 just before the le7
i can't get this last me 5/12... argghhh
fiber, eyeglass part and add a vowel
to make a picture, look thru the le4/4
Hi folks, I am back
eyeglass part was so obvious I thought I entered it hours ago!
me 5/12 is a feudal lord holding land from a superior..
mi6/24 please
ahhh.. it was so obvious.. i can't believe i missed a plural
peri... mi 6/12 is a poem by thomas hardy
peri mi 6 not and big museum in NY abbreviated.
thanks jm but that doesn't help
thanks chic and jm, what an odd word
no joke.. really hard to clue that one
ca6/21 please
kinda like the thing over a fire place but with a different start peri
the high part of a saddle..
ca 6/21 sounds like a primitive lighting device
thanks got the ca6
primitive lighting device?
hmm
a modern lighting device would be a lightbulb or a flashlight
primitive as in the use of fire
i think i know what you mean but there's no D lol
ohhh
ive got it lol
11 left bbl
i said that it SOUNDS like it
yeah, thanks
The lone C on the far right, anybody have that?
Hello Scrabbler - the latin for time estimation - ci5
TY, Hazel! I missed thatsame word in another grid recently
hi there, Scrabbler!
You're welcome - it comes in handy for Antiques Roadshow etc.
another clue for the lone C? i got nothin with the latin one
your ancestor was born ci*** 1859
Hi Al---any rain yet down there?
thanks dispatch
NO! Lots of wind tho, lots of sunshine, but, alas, no rain in our parts
pk - think of a place of entertainment with a big top - use four letters of it and finish with a vowel.
yw
just started here...only have 22 so far. is the grid difficult?
*flops* back. just given my entire portfolio to a scannning company to scan at really high quality. my baby! its out of my sight!
It is turning into spring here, but there is so much snow to melt yet
It's a nice grid - familiar words mixed with some challenges.
Hi tatalnte
hello Atalante - the murder is official....
Oh, dear, I really butchered your name, Atalante, sorry!
see any croci lately, Scrabbler?
LOL you did!
the r and the s seem to be in the wrong location. lol
Yes, in my fern garden, I just noticed them when I walked through the front yard
I know, Haz ... its really quite unnerving somehow
A huge branch from a beech tree is bent down, with the tip buried in the snow, and I was trying to dig it out--no success as the snow is 4 ft deep there
wow, Scrabbler.. hope the temps and sun help melt the snow... the weight of it can break tree branches
The branch has a birdfeeder attached to it too
and this is when the birds need help finding food
are the squirrels active? they will find it..
I bought some black sunflower seeds and was trying to fill the feeders that I could access
not as bad as when they tried to take the book 7 manuscript from rowling...
The squirrels have been around for the last 2 wks or so, both grey and mostly red. The little red ones are so cute
si 6/21 pls
Hi hurshy--how is your life going?

Bye Peri
all things i find quite dull, unfortunately.
It's a difficult one to clue (si6). First three letters of Peter's other name (or Mr Cowell to bring it up to date) then the start of Miss Melba, the operatic diva.
It should be Dame Melba, I'm just remembering....

Or Miss Furtado, to bring it up to date.
I monkeyed the Melba part
thank you both haz and aloy
yw, hunting my last "t" word...
Dame Melba was the lady for whom the dessert, Peach Melba was named. That's when you know you're famous - when they name a dessert after you.

Scabbler, do you have the me+ *** the season?
me5/12 - encountered plus a verb form of 'to be'
Yup
BUT, it could be the sound a cat makes, me 4/9
no, i've heard it in the phrase "a me4/9ing infant"
And all verb forms of me4/5 - standing for, intending
No, it is a me5
so maybe it isn't to do with cats
well did you see my 2:27 suggestion?
i mean it is either that or something haz said.
there aren't a lot of options.
That's it, Hazel--past tense of to imply
This list-free approach is brutal

I am missing a 7 I have im nd ce what am i missing pls
le4/4 + the grown up boys again
blss you
can someone clue the le6? I just cannot find it...
The le6 conbinues the loaned out le4 - add a couple of letters to make it end with a number.
le6/18 - having to do with the time of year currently celebrated in Christian churches
sorry neli, i'm not that far
le 6: adjective describing the period before easter.
ty haz
You're welcome.
wait, that's only 4 letters
anyone got wurdy girls missing 7 (not ce or im) ? -- looking too!
clued it at 3:32
i can't see a single A from the left side
Look at my icon - le7
ty
Feather - for a sequence of words, begin with Mr Alda the actor for al4/4. Add three different letters for al5/10 3 times.
*mwah!* thanks haz!
There's also al4/4 which precedes Mr Alda.
got that too now, tyu
Not forgetting the al4/5 - The Guinness Knight who built a war time bridge
wee, gray!
really. angolan money???
Well done!
just needed a nudge in the right direction. (or a shove)
Fiber - you have to willingly suspend your disbelief when you do babble.
"These are not the droids you're looking for."
I had fun, and now I'm done. I was just looking in to see how you are all doing!!
Star Trek! yay Vi!
Howdy, Ata! I won't rise to the bait, though! =)
any hint for le7/32?
le7 - Haz's icon
All clicking and snapping away...
How did your feather-drawing go, Ata?
Jamie .. go to Haz's profile for a great clue.
thanks
ok, gotta start dinner.
now all i've got to do is figure out what it means :)
as far as I can tell that clues a 5 letter word, not sure where the other two come in
focusing device + people who use them + 7 letters
Use the le4/4 version of the equipment, and add a three letter word for those using the equipment.
(I meant = 7 letters, not +, although a 14 letter word would be cool!)
oh lord that can't be a real word!
feather ... enjoy dinner.
Another unwilling disbelief suspender....
ooh thanks i've got it now
That's good.
oh Haz I believe in suspenders!!! SOOO uncomfortable!!!! :)
God bless the man who invented tights.
but men loved them.
They didn't have to wear them.
Haz too true!
why do men get off so lightly?
me x 14, mi x6 -- missing?
You need another me word.
ce 7/36 clue please
me 4 x5, 5 x 5, 8 x2, 9 x2 -- missing?
ce7/36 - a French coin, equivalent to 100th franc.
cyber ... my guess is it is the last me4/9 you need
Just to add an informational note, for those who find such linguistic curiosities interesting, in the US suspenders are what you call braces, and what you call suspenders are garters here.
There are 6 me 5 words.
then I'm missing an me 5
Garters here are kind of thigh high blood constrictors. Suspenders here are the old-fashioned holding up stockings variety.
Do you have me5/14 - me plus the onset of illness?
... and braces here are what straighten your teeth...
i'm missing two me5/12 and an me5/14
Braces - straighten your teeth, hold up your trousers and stiffens you against the prevailing wind. A multi-purpose word.
maybe in england the language is different
must be the braces one
The words may be different, but it's the same language.
cybernan - the braces have nothing to do with any words!
not if you can't communicate
I mean the structure of the language is the same - just using different words for some things doesn't make it a new language.
then what was the 3:59 clue all about?
cybernan - it was the continuation of a conversation about the willing suspension of disbelief. Suspenders were mentioned, then braces etc tec.
i haven't heard of some of the words in this
etc (why can't I type?)
like the lw ones
It's okay, Jamie - we all learn new words most days.
oh sorry -- thought it was a clue for the me 5 I'm looking for
i'm going to look up what it actually means
No - did we ever establish if you have me5/14?
according to Jamie, I'm missing an me 5/14
The inability to communicate is largely independent of the name of the language spoken.
i'm the one who's missing an me 5/14
m plus a rearrangement of plural frozen water.
Haz ... good clue.
so if you speak chinese and I speak russian.... the inability to communicate is due to other factors?
I have 3 me5/12's and 1 me5/14. What's the other?
lol good clue
me 5's: have 3 5/12'a and 1 5/14 -- missing?
i have 2 me5/12s missing
If we both speak Russian, we may still not be able to communicate, and under the name "Chinese" is subsumed at least 3 languages as unlike each other as eaither with Russian.
*either
me5/12 appears 5 times
Okay, thanks, Haz.
hi ALL
which is what I said in the first place
Hello peri!
marigold, are you playing?
lol - then we must be right, as witness our failure to communicate!
ollag, are you playing?
cybernan - two of the me5/12 words are anagrams of each other. (specificially what remains after im is removed from the huge im7)
me 5/12: methods, adorn, one of mixed french+indian heritage -- missing?
have those, thanks, haz
me5/12 - past tense of the word you use for methods.
i think that's one i've already got
whew! ---- thank you very much, now may I trouble you for the fish?
whack!!!!!
It's okay - others have forgotten it as well.
the me 5/12s i'm missing are one that's from the middle M and one that's from the M on the right
not sure how to explain which i've not got without saying which i've got!
Hi all
going to play WEBoggle, may be back later
going for bj's two letter list --- missing a 4, 5 & 6 -- s and t
What's WEBoggle
You probably need the anagram of the me5/12 that comes before the me5/14. Rearrange the order of the third and fourth letters.
Hi all hows it goin today
me 5/12 sounds like when something is in perfect condition, plurl.
bye peri -- will join you there soon
hmm
The second me4/5 - to intend, can be present tense or past tense, add two different consonants.
i've got two of the me5/12 words the anagrams of each other, and also the past tense of one of those anagrams
i'm assuming the perfect condition one isn't one of those
si 6?
hm. ok.
Si 6 cake you eat at Easter
How many of u people like Carrot Cake
sorry, maisie -- don't eat any specific cake at easter
I do!
We do in England, it's topped with marzipan and decorated with sugar eggs
google it.
How many like Caviar
here's that cake -- hi all
what's it called Maisie? (Shhhh just whisper it)
a break down clue please?
Hi Jillibus
Cybernan
i think i'm going to go insane with these two me5/12s i can't get
The last 3 letters are Dame ...lie Melba
hi all, here-ish while I heat and eat lunch...
don't know any dame melba
hi Peri, I am on now, had to take Sue for radiation today
Stid its rika remember me!!!!!???????
another British clue, maisie?
what 5/12's do you need Jamie
hi stid -- late lunch!
take the le 4 remove the snake letter and reverse it
si 6/21 is a hard one to clue.
Cybernan do you like Caviar????? (fish eggs)
oh, I have that word! It's weird
hi ollag, hey rika
well i've got the one from the big im7
hi stid and others
yes Jill, just got back from a funeral. much relieved it
it's over
and i've got the anagram of that, and also the past tense
can you give a clue that we can understand on this side of the pond, Esprit?
si6 rhymes with (but isn't spelt like) the book you sing songs out of in church
Stid how are you today
it's the other two that i'm missing
any clues?
thanks, jilli (((hugs)))
do you have the lovely ladies monthly
glad you saw that, nan!
ladies monthly? probably not lol
Stid u here
also anagram the same word
i'm not in the US so i probably don't know your ladies monthly magazine
jamie -- what are you looking for?
me5/12
*~*!*~* ta ta *~!*~*
thanks for the help everyone :)
YAY NAN!
i know there's about 5 of them - i've got 3, two of which are anagrams of each other with just the last letters switched
and one with just the last letter changed
jamie, nil to do with a magazine, think more personal
Stid how are you today?
yes, there are 5 of them -- let me think...
how about me + this - the h
oh i think i know what you mean
me 5/12: do you have the mixed heritage one? ( in N.A., it usually refers to french + native)
but it's not 5 letters
Congratulations cybernan -was on phone.
she means aunt flo or the wretched curse or what ever you use to describe it
thanks for the help, haz
fine rika, you?
Fine were was the Funeral you went to??????????
me + contraction for it is
do you have the me5/12 which is "intended"?
Jamiex, it's only six letters when it's pluraled....
Hi Brandy Jack
{{{bj}}} good to see you!
maybe i'm not thinking of the same word then
not that it evber comes in singles.........
i do have the "intended" one
haha
hi BJ!
Bye all
Hi bj -- your 2 ltr list came in very handy today!
bye rika
Taking a break -see you later!
i'm just starting myself. can't figure out which of the me5/12's is the anagram
me5/12 -- ways and me***?
later Haz!
yeah i've got the ways and me***
Be back in little bit
the one you just clued, bj
and i've got the one from the big im7
I'm listless so far, down to 34!
do you have the anagram of that one, jamie?
the one from the big im7 and the "ways and me***" are anagrams
thanks for that one Jamie!
someone said it was only the last two letters that were switched, and it won't take that for that one...
i still don't understand the me*** for a woman's monthly!
just take the last 5 letters of the IM7. thanks by the way....
you get this if you are not pregnant
*thinking Jamie's not acquainted with wimmen things*
yeah i've got a 6 letter word for it beginning with P
different in england maybe?
me 5/12's: from the big im, me + ill, anagram of 1st one, mixed heritage
the ways and me*** is not an anagram of another 5/12
hiya again
u r right stidmama
it's actually a latin word Jamie, for the flow that occurs after ovulation if fertilization fails
sorry, missed out ways and me***
hi feather!
think the medical term for it which most of us use as a 6 letter plural. And I agree with Jilli. in order for it to be an anagram, hae to do something with that a....
it come first
again already? how long have you been home? *grin*
oh maybe it's not an anagram then
So, how many me's are there in total, then, please?
here goes again.... me 5/12's: methods, from the big im, me + ill, anagram of 1st one, mixed heritage
make that anagram of 2nd one
me 5/12 - there is an end to a ***** me 5/12 I me*** to pay my bill, but I didn't me 5/12 me + single hump letter+snake letter + vowel me 5/12 anagram above the previous me 5/12 word
one of the anagrams begins with male people, the other with more than one first person.
Vi: off -topic query -- how are you "packaging" your cards? I am thinking of doing a sort of frame partly to keep them stable in the mail and partly for pretty...
jamie try this add es to adult guys
mixed heritage?!
5 me 5/12's and one me 5/14 (me +ill)
*4 me 5/12's
that should be se not es
I'm too tired to be doing this, obviously! --- see you tomorrow :)
aha! thanks Min (and welcome to the grid...) :-)
adult guys = men?
later Nan!
yes yes yes
Oh, stidmama, I only wish I had got far enough to think about that yet! Actually, mine will just be plain and flat, so I reckoned I'd just slap 'em between two bits of cardboard and call it good.
argh. looking for something that doesn't exist...... already had 4-12's and a 14....
yes, jamie
yes Jaime, but in the "plural" form
lol i'm so confused as to which 5/12s i've actually got
sorry, said hi, but ended up talking on the phone for a few!
yo from the antipodes
maybe i've got that one but didn't realise
that one is the last part of the big im word
that sounds like a better idea Vi -- less stressful! :-) I hope to have some time next week (this week was terrible) to finish.
why don'[t you go to the mi's and then come back to the me's
stid, i'm listless too, down to 36!
Wasn't going to chat, but saw all the questions about me5/12 words, had to share clues.I hope they helped
for its anagram, switch the middle consonants
go feather go! (29 now)
hello all. (enjoying stidmatt the trumpeter... reminds me of my son many years ago)
scrolling chat for clues....
thanks Dorens -- you me** there's hope for us all? ;-)
hi min -- like your icon!
me 5/12 - there is an end to a ***** - GOT THIS ONE me 5/12 I me*** to pay my bill, but I didn't - GOT THIS ONE me 5/12 me + single hump letter+snake letter + vowel - DON'T HAVE THIS me 5/12 anagram above the previous me 5/12 word - DON'T HAVE THIS
hi dorens, featherbee, et al
Less stressful is always good, stidmama! I have a batch about half-way done, but then got overrun with other things. Maybe next week for me, too???
actually i do have the third me 5/12 letter
change of topic? I cannot see the E in the top right corner... *blinks and squints at grid*
Thanks jillibus, but he does not look as good anymore
any clues for an5,10
ooh got one
always hope stid... even after the day/week i've had, always hope
Jamie -- the ones you don't have are the ones I just clued -- the last part of the big im word, and for its anagram, switch the two middle consonants
teteck -- that looks like a plural of "against" word
me 5/12 is plural of male person plus I **e w/my eyes.
{{{Dorens}}} *offers cup of hot tea*
ok there's just one left for me, and it's the one that stems from the middle M on the board
i think it's the one that was just mentioned
"me 5/12 is plural of male person plus I **e w/my eyes."
me5/12 - my room is not neat it is me*sy + NorthEast
find that E yet stid? i can't see it either
jamie -- switch the two middle consonants
nope feather, it's a tricky little guy!
lol
got down to 32 from chat clues
hmmm. there are 5 me5/12's and a 5/14
i've got the NorthEast one
The em5/14 word - think of actor M. em*** Walsh stid
"me 5/12 is plural of male person plus I **e w/my eyes." - what does this mean?
thanks Min!
still have difficulty with an 5,10
ohhh
got it!
JAMIE!!! i GUESS YOU'RE NOT SEEING MY CLUES!!!
i've got that one too lol
Then you should have all of the me5/12 words JamieX
who min?
that's a ray column on the right!
i don't think so - there's definitely one left
thanks stidd... much needed.... a teacher at our school died last saturday, we are in the middle of horrendously scheduled state testing (and i'm the school test coordinator) and i was being pulled all over the place, and then today three major meltdowns by some very scary kids and I hardly breathed all day.
there's also a football player, EM*** smith, feather
i'll tell you exactly which i've got
PLEASE scroll down -- I've given the answer three times!
yeah, i've tried that! darnit
oh. wrong vowel. thanks!
*sets down teapot and runs to get box of very good chocolates*
e 5,10
sorry, i mean m***downs (just found that word)
em5/14=em+another double hump plus ** phone home
chocolates! :)
thanks
there's a me*** to an end, i me*** to pay the bills on time, the last 5 letters from the IM7 word, the me*** with North East, and there's one more
ce 4,5 too
el 5/10 is plural of the el 4/4 word before it teteck.
sucran
finally found the anagram
ce 4/5 - think Basketball team Boston ce**ics teteck.
which one am i missing?
just for you Dorens, everyone else has to deal with cookies from yesterday.
go bj go!
cookies????hmmm. what kind of cookies? (do they have nuts in them?)
the last 5 letters one, switch the 4rd and 4th letters.....
oh, you need the mixed heritage one -- encountered + part of to be (he **)
er, that's 3rd and 4th.....
okay, down to 25. Off to grab list to see what direction to go...
yeah i've got that one - that's the me*n*
No, just plain old sugar cookies today Dorens
getting list too then!
it's a different one i'm missing
nevermind, it's Jilli's clue, the mixed french and cree ancestry
yeah it must be the the mixed heritage one -- encountered + part of to be (he **)"
Jamie, what I gave is not the me*n*
thanks for the clues jilli
feather, are we racing?
ok, am content with chocolates ( i do see truffles here, don't I?)

Hello daddysgirl! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Jilli, are you saying Min is telling a fib?
who, me???
I'm fine how bout u
What is that cake called Jill
News says we've had rain for 20 out of 23 days in March -- heading for a record
daddysgirl -- it's a si6 (click on the icon)
si6 rhymes with the book you sing from in church but isn't spelt the same way
Actually,I worked on it during the day and just a few left to go when I signed back on. My job has tried to block me from playing, however, to no avail! They put a block on any games, but I just use Lickety's and it doesn't recognize Lickety's as a game. So I babble at work alot.NOTHING will stop me from playhing Babble!
that did it for me, thanks jilli
min, you are brilliant! :)
oh, clever min!
I don't use the list,I just use the top part of the page
I don't use the list until I am at least halfway through
oh great, LA -- I struggled with clueing that si6 earlier -- nothing worked!
ce 6/24 any clues?
ce6/24 -- the mafia's favourite shoes
ce6/24-what sidewalks might be made out of majmom
tx jilli
yw :)
However, I am blocked from playing the other games I'm also addicted to:Boggle, Scrabbleblast,Pinball, etc
I like Babble the best.I do not care about the others being blocked. As long as I get to Babble I am happy!
Howcum you have so much spare time at work, Min?
I don't really,I am a teacher.I babble on my prep and at lunch.Today, was an exception because my school had an assembly which gave me more free time.Plus I am not a classroom teacher and so I have more time.
what kind of teaching do you do, min?
It helps to have a small grid to be able to finish early.
Ah, min -- what do you teach?
I like small grids because I like clueing and only have time with small grids
I teach English as a Second Langauge.I see different groups of students for 30 minute periods in my room.
that's neat, how many languages do you speak?
Hi all...this is probably a dumb question but what does it mean when you say ce6/24? This is my first game!
Yes,that too.I love cluing (bad at it) and can only do so with the small grids. But tonight I have to go soon!
hi laurie. that notation means a word that starts with ce, is 6 letters and worth 24 points. good explanation under "Angelsong's Babble Resource Page" under the friends of babble links.
Hi Laurie S. How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
and welcome to babble!
That is the not so neat part!I only speak just English!
Fine thank you in Modesto, Ca!
ce6/24 means a word starting with ce, 6 letters, scoring 24 points. For more, go to Help above, and scroll down to Friends of Babble and Angelsong's link
seems I was beaten to that explanation!
Got it Jill thank you! I looked at the help first but didn't see it.
na na na na na na
Min -- isn't that the way to teach ESL?
LaurieS,today is friday so if you click on some of our icons you may be able to get clues for some words in the puzzle. For example, my icon the is al 4/5 word.

Cool thank you Min!
Each Friday, our icons R clues for a word in the grid.

That is why I like to play Babble on Fridays the best.

Hello CubsChick! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle

The le 7/32 word is le 4/4 plus plural for male DR1965
Hello Dr1965!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

We kept nagging Minver but I guess she's stubborn -- finally gave herself a birthday present - lol
em 5/14 any clues?
Hello featherbee! How is your dusting coming along?
lol minver.
e, 5/14 - think of the actor M. em*** Walsh majmom.
did the mantel and tv unit. also was on the phone for a bit.
cheap date? who's a cheap date?
em5/14 -- em + encpountered (another word for the picnic pest)
oh! i see we got another addict! Welcome Laurie
still have dining room table, coffee table and end tables, but i think i'll save them for last minute. otherwise, i'll end up doing them twice with daniel around.
Hey Rennie!
encpountered??
Hello renfield! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
*encountered
yes leslie... don't u remember that grid word last month? encpountered
who's a smartass, LA?
Ren, I am a cheap skate for not going pro right away
hey dawg - howdy min!!!
howdy ren
oooooh sorry no, i really didn't get it :)
Rennie, can you be bribed with grog and truffles?
r u really in the Bahamas ren?
heya ad
ty min and jilli
Isn't it nice when a newbie does not turn out to be a troll?
LMAO!
oooooooo jilli said a bad word. go to your room
especially on a friday Min!
What is the range of points that you all get? Probably more than my 5 to 14! (Hi lbdawger!)
OOOO, yes, min!
i'm really on the couch at the beach house..and i can be bribed
Laurie, for me points are not the point. Getting all the words is.
laurie, if you go to the "lickety's babble clues" link below, you will get a list of first and second letters of the words for today
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
Evening all - been out all day, but plan to finish this grid now - Hi bogster - see we've made an addict of you!!!
good night min!
see ya min
Must go eat and go to bed! I have to work tomorrow!
has that happened minver? i've only seen 2 trolls since i've been here. one ghostbustah when we had a grid almost 500 and that derned troll took up all the chat that i couldn't get my last 100 words.
points vary with each word Laurie, check out angelsong's babble page. lots of great help there.
niters min
Night Min
nite min

i hope im not a troll!
Rennie, Nutty said you couldn't be bribed. she was picking on me last night and tried to lock me outta the house
I think I'd better go get my supper -- see y'all later...
* STREAKS RAPIDLY THROUGH CHATLOG WISHING EVERYONE A GOODNIGHT*
on the beach ad...near the divine sea hag...wondering where nut went....
night evanadine
not be bribed? w/ truffles? she bribed me with truffles
n itey nite avanadine!
lol
trolls are the ones (kids usually) who come in, fool around by posting words, repeatedly acting innocent after being told not to, get smart mouthed, try to provoke people, and in general are a p.i.t.a.
ugh, can't typw at all
niters evanadine
whoa, you guys, was eva naked?
ha! i knew she wasn't tellin the truth
bfn
oh i think im ok then
she was leslie......
you're ok steph :)
NAKED? MOI?? but i just did 4 hours of shopping!!
ba-bye jilli
thanks leslieann
Thanxs LA and lbdawger! I'll stop asking questions and go looking around!
brb...
well, you have no excuse to be naked now then
Steph, you are not a troll! goodness, you actually work the grid. most trolls whine all night wanting us to give them words.
and then there are idiots, like me, who earlier tried to clue by giving a definition, yet included the durned word in the definition!
you straked through the mall eva?
Laurie, please ask all the questions you want.
well, it was mostly shopping for the itty-bitties...baby shower tomorrow + nephew turning 2 next month... but i DID get myself a cute sundress, a pair of pants, a new top, and a few necklaces -- and almost all of it was on sale!!
and i must say, i *heart* H&M!
that's a little shopping?
troll comments: can i have a clue? (we ask for what) any of them! i suck at this! gimme a clue! i don't get it r u my friend? why don't u like me? you guys suck &*(*&^%$#
i heart macy's
oh, yes, greeeat prices
well, i do have to ask for quite a lot of clues, incase no-one had noticed!!! But I am trying.
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh
it's all in how you ask steph!
did i miss anything?
feather -- dont forget about A/S/L??
argh argh argh
i think you're being generous with your spelling/grammar, feather :)
i can't lower myself enough to spell like they do
and that you actually are trying to find the words
Nutty
she is leslie......oh yes ' how old r u? i am 12, do u im?'
me again...indeed dawggy
and then there's the distinction of trolls vs. pirates.....both like to make a lot of noise, and act silly, difference is pirates tend to actually be funny while trolls are not!
the kids clothes werent on sale, but i DID have a coupon. but my newphews shoes were on sale! my dress was full-price. my top + the pants were from TJ Maxx -- uber-savings! the necklaces were on sale -- 3 for $15!
missed you nutty
oh, and i also got a belt at TJ Maxx
i disagree, trolls are tres droll
yay sales eva!
thankee dawggy, i missed me too
eva you are a shopping mavin!
and then there are the pirates who act like kitties seeing a lame mouse when they spot a troll: aka: nut.
rennie's here Nut
and trolls can't steal like we do.....:)
feather, i got my rings from silverjewelryclub....oooh exciting
yay! you had some in your size? that's cool! i have such tiny fingers, i never see my size
my mom always laughs at me because i *rarely* buy anything thats not on sale...but when i actually care to put in a little effort, i always look like i spent tons of money!
LOL i noticed dawg, my sister radar is up and running.
ooh we have tk maxx here, i love it
i have BIG fingers feather, smallest i can pull off is a 7
nut likes trolls....she eats them by the bag - just like popcorn!
Nut, you need to get your flag fixed so everyone knows you are a proud Chadian... Chadette? Chadster?
my wedding ring is a 3 and 1/2
r ren and nut sisters? didn't know that.
oh, i also got the BF a bottle of Burberry cologne at TJ Maxx -- i *heart* TJ maxx!
whoa feather u must be a little peanut!
DO, twin sisters from different mothers
adhd, only believe about half the words that come out of ren and nut's mouths!

i know shirin... if that guy didn't humanize Shaggy better than anyone!
my brother lived next to the original creator of barney!
my sister says barney is the best form of birth control ever invented
mi6/24 word is mi + snake letter plus I me* my hubby ten years ago Buttonman.

si 6/21 word is si+double hump letter + a single hump letter plus vowel plus stick letter Buttonman.
mi6 = mi* spent youth + past te5 of meet

en5?
maybe would be incorrect if you were butt naked
en+ what you do on stage

Who knows, they could be lurking this very instant!

the grid list says i need an S, but lickety says no.
Dr-God said that he got quite an influx of new requests today. so there could be some to come
how many you got adhd

thanks you too kristin. Good luck with the name finding!
wtg kristin! jili what is in yoir cake?
i refreshed and all my tile stats are now grey, 0 left, but no fireworks. boo hoo.
Minver, very occasionally he makes a Pronouncement
really Jilli?
Goodbye shirin! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log!
he shows up from ti4 to ti4 minver...but the way you describe it, it sounds like we should call in scooby doo and his crew
during the conversion from the old to new babble, dr. g came onto the chat a lot more often
thanks shirin :)
He doesn't usually stay for very long. but today he came in and asked if anyone knew if there was an email out about babble, cuz he had a major influx of email requests
i saw him earlier for a minute or two
his name is in red
Congratulations kristinc on fireworks! Good for you!
TO -- I've never made a si6 but I believe it contains marzipan, raspberry jam, etc -- if you know its name you can goodle it.
see you in all a bit for the flippity whippity flip!
spounds yummy
bye steph
my nickname should be spelled Doo or DooDoo, but my aunt didn't spell it that way, soI never changed it
heh, i'm familiar with that...one month my website had a random 400,000 extra hits that i couldn't figure out the source of
I'm surprised he shows up at all after we all moaned and complained to him during the conversion :)
later steph
oops i have flipped, that all back to front you know what i mean, bye
bye steph...well done on the finish!
he wanted to know if anyone knew why there was such an influx of new pro babblers... something about an email that someone may have generated to promote it?
Do, I'd rather it wasn't DooDoo!
so kristin how are you feeling?
what kind of website do you have, bluesoul?
what conversion kristin?
a sort of party game called mafia...it ended up doing really well as a forum-based game
pretty good owl, starting to get some pains from getting bigger but overall, just fine...thanks so much for asking :)
mine is pronounced like that, but sp. like What do you do? my aunt swears it had nothing to do w/a poopy diaper
are you a programmer?
when r u due kristin?
I'm not sure it was for pro babblers, just to be able to play the game requests.
That is how I learned about Babble. My dad sent me a link to this site in an email. I didn't try it right away.
i am...doing PHP and trying to learn javascript at the moment
ADHD...babble operated using a different format and had a much different appearance, when the switch was made, some of creatures of habit had a a hard time :)
Good evening everyone
well, i mean, i'm finding words at the moment but you know what i mean
ADHD...due in early Aug
cool, bluesoul
just read your profile kris. my happy thought are sent your way
thanks :)
hey woulf... long time no see
I'm distracted watching the skating Worlds in Japan (delayed for us West Coasters)
Hey woulfie!
the website's at www.wifom.net/forum if you're interested
and hello to GW!
Hello GreyWoulf! How are you ? Welcome to the grid!
thanks, blue -- and hi gw
is this one better than the old one?
aaawwwowoooooooooo GW!!!!
hi woulf!
hey ADHD -- yeah I have been a bit of a lurker lately -- too tired to chat, but still need my daily fix
hey jb!
Temple!!!! (so sorry 'bout March Madness, Philly could use some!)
georgetown just barely hung on today XD
hey JB, TO, Ping, kristi, Min, lbd, and anyone else I may have missed! :-)
Grey, am there, been doing that too. I feel vindicated if I get at least half the words!
much better, adhd
umm...honestly, for the most part yes. There are still things about the old site that I like. Mostly it took getting used to the new format....now it is fine. And we used to have big trouble w/ folks accidentally entering words into the chat...that has gotten ALOT better :) I like the new site just fine.
Second that, kris!
exactly, JB -- I have had nights where I just didn't have the energy to log on to look for my last 20 or 30
hey JBs...long time no see for you too!
when was all this kris?and how old is babble? i've been here two months now.
ack...did it again!
Well, you DO have a great excuse - any child care can be tiring, but you have 2 little ones!
we still have lots of us entering words into the chat! Mea culpa particularly, just after the flip
clue for me5,14? please?
anyone remember when the switch was? not I
Congrats on the great news, kristinc!! We will definitely send you lots of warm fuzzies and positive juju! After all, August is when my daughter was born ;-)
{kris, woulf, temple, everyone else - group hug!}
i've caught it a few times already and i've been here for all of 24 hours :p
i had only been playing a couple of months when the switch happened, kris
me5/14 -- rather like harmonies with a diff first vowel
kris, 'bout a year ago?
thanks GW...another boy btw! very excited daddy on the line
{{***Group***}}
here here on the group hug!
me 5/14 word is I like to listen to rock m****, change first vowel sewwel.
i'm getting sleeeeeeeepy *loud snorty snore*
mesic
oops
see it still happens
ADHD, you're seeing some "old" people here - I joined fall of 05
:)
:-D
yep, GW
showoff! ; )
*nudge* GREY - wake up!
Hi JBsAnno! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
i refuse to believe some of these are words honestly - i enter stuff in randomly and it works half the time hehe
no kidding...he's just trying to prove me wrong!
Minver - I love how you are such a cheerful greeter!
Ty, Min and jill --- I got before the ohohohs1
thanks be to the monkeys
oh yes, random word entering is a very handy skill blue
Yeah! Thanks be to me!
LOL -- I got distracted by seeing a clue for one of the 20 words I hadn't found yet.... without a list for the first time since I finished a 31 word puzzle right after the flip
is it really?
'specially when someone ELSE is doing it, right, kris?
blue -- that means you have already mastered the fine art of monkeytyping
i mean, i may see something in the reverse of what i enter but for the most part it just makes me feel like a big tool
Monkeytool!
no seriously...on big grids, I get half my words just by typing crazy words furiously fast
Hello everyone...
heh, i got a drumset a few days ago...i could've saved the trade and just drummed on the keyboard instead eh
hello douglas
So who thought up of these babble terms like passing the fish and monkey-typing when it first started?
Hello bluesoul...
blue -- the real problem is not your vocabulary, but the enable dictionary that Babble and most other online word games uses -- it has some really odd flaws and LOTS of nonwords in it
hi douglas!
I feed my monkeys the recalled cat food we still need to take back...doesn't seem to bother them :)
Hello Douglas! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Oh, minver, you can go to the archived chats for the earlier days of Babble - quite entertaining reading!
min- if you go to babanon, the origian of the fish is explained
Hello Ping...there seem to be a number of people using that as their icon...
did you see that in the news? illegal rat poison in the food O_O
Hello Min...
I was here for the fish creation...quite the event!
Min -- if you check BabAnon you will see one of the threads which actually explains who originated some of the terms we now take for granted
hi there douglas
Hi douglas
min, if you go to BabAnon, the origin of the fish is explained. a babbler named anj started it
blues, just visited your website. wow that's really confusing! well, probably not if you know what's going on.
I'm tanned, rested, and ready to clue...well, two out of three isn't bad...
krtistin you were? you are a long time babbler -loner than me
Hi Douglas
Hello jilli...
I hadn't heard that blue...last I heard it was wheat gluten...all of it is very sad really...I shouldn't joke about feeding my unruly monkeys that
Yeah, and another worthy tradition - the Babble JACUZZI!
it's mostly trying to spot liars...you get into logical fallacies and the like
I thought I was...maybe it was just the evening we named all the creative fishes though
nobody else has my icon -- lol -- it's too hard to clue!
Hi douglas. since you are rested and tanned and ready to clue, i'm going to log off and head for my pillows. see you all tomorrow
night lbd!
night lbd!
take care dawg...sleep well!
sleep well, lbd {*Hug*}
Sleep well, lbd!
Pleasant dreams, lb...
the micro games are limited to seven players (usually two mafia and five town) and are made for beginners
>>>>>>>>>>>FIREWORKS<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Hey GW!
the game itself is explained on the homepage at wifom.net iirc...i don't remember if i put the how to play bit up or not honestly
hi chic!
well done buttonman!
Yay Buttonman!
YAY buttonman!!!
Goodbye lbdawger! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
Congratulations Buttonman on fireworks! Good for U
Doug, I've got 47 words left to go, for example, all of the A's on the left side...
yay button!
WTG, Button! (hmm, I call my cat that name...)
Hello chic! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
JBS can I help with clues?
They are all unfamiliar words to me...3 al4's and 3 al5's
yes, I am multitasking but I can try to clue as well
Thanks, Buttonman - whatcha got for any of the A's (I'm flying without Lickety's lists tonight) - I need to up my an** (the only one I have so far)
The actor probably most famous for the role of Captain Pierce is in the grid...
AL vowel and single hump....a man's name
so far, no list here as well, JB but I think I am gonna go for it just for efficiency's sake
Yeah, what he said...
Same name with the second vowel
change the vowel on your an4 JBs and plural
Another Latinae pluralae...
al-- HA - you thought I was gonna, huh!
their mans name....al plus second vowel plus 3rd letter
That's one of the 4's
My icon is an al 4/5 word if anyone needs a clue for it
good one, min!
add second vowel to first male name for al5
He didn't leave the country when Bush was reelected...
Thanks - got 2 of 'em! Definitely, minver - that's a GOOD picture!
Alda and Hale...
al 4...al plus 1st and second vowels
add a t to the first male name
plural the first male name
that is 6, JR did you get them all?
grayed, thank you kindly
YES! Mini fireworks, um, rather, a happy gray box for the left column A! Thanks, all! just 40 to go...
I only realized a long time after seeing the Skipper in Gilligan's Island, that the Skipper is the spittin' image of his father, who was in many movies...
well done JBs! keep asking if you need it
I am here to clue if anybody needs clues to finish grid
got to go, good nighta all...thanks
JR, what do you need before I go?
goodnight buttonman...enjoy your night
Sleep the good sleep, Buttonman - you are a scholar and a gentleman! Thanks for the help!
Thanks Kris
Goodbye Buttonman! I'll see you tomorrow in the log!
just got 2 of the an's - like the poker an** with a different vowel plus the plural
a+opposite of old
kris - pass the fish, please - of course!
'Cause breakin' up is hard to do...
um, are you singing or clueing, Doug?
both, more than likely
Yes, it's the line that comes right after an4/8
Actually, maybe Douglas is clinging or suing JBsAnno.
LOL, minver!!!
and my progress has slowed considerably due to me playing imaginary drums
but i'm halfway there which i'm okay with for the second puzzle i've seen
That's progress...
breaking up is hard to do?
WTG, blue, it took me 3 months to finish a puzzle and get my first fireworks.
seems understandable
It's a song by Neil Sedaka...
just judging by the garbage in my list
BUT, there were some doozies! Have there been any grids over 400 words in the past 3 months/
help with the si6 and the mi6, please?
Friday is a good day, as Babblers give clues in their icons...
mi6 rhymes with a word for fate...
jilli's clue for the si6 is that is rhymes with what you read songs out of in church
and si6 rhymes with a church songbook
like kris said!
Nice clue for mi6, Doug!
that's what I get for not reading jilli's bio fully :-D
mi6 is a compound word...ends w/ past te*** of to encounter
i knew my lack of religion would do me wrong some day
thanks JB...
I was thinking of a *negative encounter*
si6 is an uncommon word...
for the mi6
hi all...
uncommon relative to the other stuff on here?
Hello Cathyar...
thanks for both -- only 2 w's left!
Hi Cathyar!
actually, yes! blue!
hi cathyar!
Hi, Cathyar! Cute puppy!
that's terrible D:
hoping to make it to flip with u's....but i doubt i can. well after midnite here, but wanted to see how the grid's going!
and help clue if i can
Well, it is one of a number of uncommon words in today's grid, although it should be noted that there are many regular words in the grid...
Anyone help i'm stuck.I just starting with this game and can't get any words
tks jbs
and done!! --- Firewords!!!!
his name is buster :)
hi cath
Have you read the help file in the upper right corner?
congrats gw
Hooray for GreyWoulf!
GW, me too, also (love that Mutts comic!) OH, you got it! Congrats! (what are the W's? I need 2 more!
bena, u must see something familiar in there...the letters have to "join" to make a word, of course.
Well done GW...congrats!
Congratulations GreyWoulf on fireworks! Good for U!
bluesoul, how did you find out about babble?
hey ping!
yay gw!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my girlfriend amiku
does she play too?
only she'd remind me when i was on my cell phone and not particularly close to a computer
We enjoyed Amiku's company very much when she was here, even though she didn't like being the youngest in the grid...
heh, she's used to it though...she's extremely mature for her age, and has been for as long as i've known her
I need 2 w's in far left column, I have: 4 of the wa 4,8 4 of the we 4,8 and one we5,18 Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?
you have all the was
You are short a we4
do you have one or 2 we4s before your plural?
Yes, kris, my bottom row W is greyed out
missing one more we4 jbs
It's what you have after a savage beating...
right, on the list...do you have 2 we4s before your we5?
Well, usually you have more than one of them, but the word is the singular thereof...
Thanks, Doug - I have the similar ce4,5 (anybody seen that fish?)
or 3 we
oops...hit return too quick...or 3 we's after the we5?
hehe
<8((()))><
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow

doug's giving us ALL a fish! ;)
night min
yeah! te** clueing!
Cath and kris, I have the 3 we's after the plural, so I need the we4 before the plural that is not the skin response to a whipping!

Just JB...
Night, minver!
JB...change the last letter of the we4 related to nursing that you already have
MMmmmpphhh *tossing fish right and left* Okay, okay, I got fish!
we4 = to we** a baby off the bottle...
Or an old-fashionedy word for prosperity...
" there were 5 of us and we **l went to the fair!" hehe...for the other we4
*gulp* just swallowed one of the goldfish that blue sent my way. Would you believe I DIDN'T singularize the plural?
Gray box!
haha jbs!!!!!
:)
i didn't plural the singular so don't feel bad :D
ha! I just assumed you had that one :)
we **l went there
lose the space of course
so did I, kris!
okay...Oregon game is over and I now have an attentive husband...gonna head out...good luck to you JBs and very good to see you:)
goodnight all!
who won?
That's a common pitfall, to not singularize plurals and vice versa...
Goodnight kris...
Nite to you too, kris, thanks for the help, and happy husband (and incubating!)
Sorry to go quiet, folks, but I have been invited to play in a Literati game -- I will be bouncing in and out til the flip
douglas won ;)
thanks :)
G'nite kristi {{*Hug*}}
but GW won first
GW - or flipping in and out til the bounce?
I think bluesoul is asking about the outcome of the Oregon game that kristinc's husband was watching...
yes :p
jbs.........u cric me up!!!! ;)
the question stems from the fact that the TV is way over there
Oregon - 76-72
Well, I have the UNC game on, they just one.
*WON*

mi4 is a word in the grid today, see?
that'll take u to the paper then there's a link to the crossword
i can see how it would seem very strange :)
yes, most babblers are mimes by trade
