i didn't replace the morphine with anything... i just came off it. I did have to go on anti-anxiety meds, but they made me almost mad with anxiety! haven't eaten for 4 weeks, and haven't slept for 5 weeks more than 3 hours a night.

Yeah, we had a tour from my school and this place is fabulous. The clients can do any kind of art they like, all the meterials are provided, including for woodworking, ceramis, apholstery, etc. The employees assist and guide.

Yes, Harland and Wolff owns the shipyard, and Samson and Goliath are still there. But no ships have been built for years. They were working on oil rigs but that has dried up as well.

We used to have quite a magnificent affair provided by the Council, but they don't anymore, and where this poor little thing has come from remains to be seen....it is such a sad little thing, it doesn't even have a single light up til now.

Well, the last heartworm treatment seems to have left her none the worse for the wear, but her skin is sitll bad--no longer open sores and the like, but she has this rust color on her. The vet said she tested neg for mange, and only had some yeast but she doesn't have fleas, but the rust color is disconcerting....

The sores have healed, but not the orangey-glow... Vet that is treating the HW want to wait before re-introducing antibiotics but thinks maybe a long-term dose... I am just not a huge antibiotics person, and she hasn't met "my" vet yet as I am not 100% sure I am dopting

and pitties are really really common for skin problems. I'd second Ruru's suggestion of fish oil, it's a great mild skin anti-inflammatory.

I bet you didn't keep her on anti-biotics long enough... did you use Keflex or Baytril
and benedryl. 1 - 2 mg/pound 2 - 3 times daily. antibiotics +/- antifungals as needed to clean up secondary skin infections.
if using it for antiinflamatory don 't use the liover oil, use the omega stuff

bichon-i live in eastern washington. it's a "pine desert". the main thing with heartworm is actually the average temperature; it gets cold enough at night here that the heartworm larvae don't develop enough to be infective by the time the mosquito dies of old age.

It is not a really good digestable oil
it's a lovely little area of almost no parasites. we have roundworm, but not hookworm or whipworm, and we have ticks, but not much for fleas.
the thing with the antibiotics is that she needs to be on them long enough to completely clear up the infection, or it just keeps coming back.
yeah.. we pulse our male on Keflex 2 weeks on and 1 week off to prevent hot spot and skin flare ups like pyaderma
heh, kinda like me. took my last pill, but i'm afraid the infection isn't gone yet.
for life..and it works well for us.
oatmeal creme rinses may help soothe the skin, assuming it's not oatmeal she's allergic to...
The keep putting her on for two weeks, then taking her off, then on... so I guess she needs a long-term dose maybe then she will need wither none or a pulse...

allergic dermatitis can be a REALLY frustrating thing to get under control, pam. often end up needing a course of steroids to knock the inflammatory stuff back, and then maintain on diet control, fish oil, and anti-histimines

akitas are really great dogs, for what they are. they were bred as guard dogs, and similar to chow chows they will attach strongly to a family and really don't tolerate well being pounced on/pulled around/handled by people outside their families. the problem is, they look like giant teddy bears, and kids love to tackle them :(

we use the rice cooker quite a bit. Don't have to worry about overcooking, can set it to go and then do other things. Then it stays nice and warm until we are ready to use it.

HI Min!...I thought he just needed his ear cleaned so I used the ear cleaner the vet gave me before and when he kept scratching I sprayed some anti-itch, which set him off ..the next day and for the pst 2-3 days, he has been tilting his head and shaking it violently ...I knew then it was an inner ear thing, much worse than Precious ever has been. Thought it might be ear mites, which only come out with oil-based drops. I thought I had made it worse for Joey, but the vet said it was just a bacterial infection inside the ear and his own doing on the flip side of his floppy outer ear. still, it kept me awake for the past three nights, cause he wouldn't rest....
