He got stressed out from traveling and had what looked like the beginnings of another bout of urinary crystals and blockage. It looks now like it may just have been emotional, but we were in Boston visiting, and it was New Year's Eve (of course-why go to the vet when it doesn't cost double?!) and in the middle of a blizzard, so much fun was had by all., They gave him a steroid injection to alleviate any urethral inflamation and my guess is that that, plus being at the vets with all the viruses running around there, gave him a severe cold. Cold=no sense of smell=no appetite.

poor baby!! I had a kitty years that had that trouble and the Vet. said to make sure that the cat food had no more then 3% ash in it and Meow Mix was one of the worse ones for cats! I hope he feels better now! :)

Good Morning.
he has had 3 major attacks since kittenhood-almost died once. he is on nothing but a very special diet, distilled water,cranberry pills every day to acidify urine, plenty of fluids, etc, and he's done great for the past 4 years since being on this all raw diet. But he is 14 going on 15 and quite ann insecure boy, and travel definitely takes a lot out of him. So does being left at home alone, but I've decided that he probaby can't travel any more, so have a crew of friends and neighbors who are cat people who will come and wine and dine him when we go away.

oh chickie, I'm so sorry! They wanted to do urethral surgery on Merp years ago, but then we moved and found this new naturopathic vet and he's been very, very helpful in less invasive ways. And also we've just been lucky so far.

The latest news on the cat is that they found teh bulk of the thing to be a cyst, which they drained so she's more comfortable, but under it was a hard tumor and they couldn't get a needle biopsy on it so they did a surgical one. They'll know more by Monday. Meanwhile she is resting upstairs on my bed, but seems to have recovered well from yesterday.

they fit a lot better and my eyes don't hurt now that the optician checked and adjusted them. The optometrist actually wrote a new prescription, but the optician thought just making them fit differently would work. They made my eyes hurt over the weekend.

when I help kids who are struggling to read, the hardest thing to do sometimes is get them to realize that there are blends and digraphs and diphthongs (sp?) that require one to NOT sound out each letter.
