Gross? Not at all! Yummy? Yes indeed! Just soak the peeled chestnuts (NOT canned) in soy sauce overnight. Then roll themin the sugar, wrap them in bacon, and stick them under the broiler. They chestnuts stay moist and super crispy. The bacon and teh sugar complement each other perfectly. The soy brings it all out nicely.
I usually am not too fond of food that combines sweet with hearty, but I will try everything!

I was a sickly child, spent a lot of time in hospitals, the resting at home, so books were and are a big part of my life. And now, in retirement, I practice my two favourite things - lying on the couch and reading. Thank heavens for the library; I read about ten books each week.
