Volley no. Some areas yes others are under threat. Some of the fire fronts have been over 60 miles wide (100 km)

how are Maddison and Luke doing with the ongoing tragedy there, MrP?
they are keenly aware that the danger hasnt passed, and we are now joining the relief volunteers over the next 7 days. The kids will work the canteen at soccer on sunday to raise money from the club. We are pulling together an appeal at the school, in which Maddison and her year are hosting the appeal. Luke and Maddison don't quite get the enormity of it, but they understand the scramble for money to help these people

i've been reading what i can about the fires in victoria - massive thing that is
our boss told us today he will match in our names dollar for dollar that us girls donate, so we are pleased about that

Surprisingly, there where homes lost today, and the people who managed to get out 'didn't believe' what the other communities had experienced over 2 days ago,...until it happened to them today.... insane

not really... they can't control this fire.
it has been burning for over 4 days, and the only way to stop it is to back burn.
mrp just watched abc news, saw 1 couple refusing to leave preparing to fight the fire with buckets, may as well pee on it

You have to understand one thing.... NSW is the capital of fires, so we backburn all through the 'off season' of fires... VIC doesn't reach the temps we do, but they exceeded it this year.... first time in decades!! They hadn't done back burning... it raged out of control because of this + the terrible terrible conditions
we are used to bushfires, happens every summer, this loss of lives and homes is what has shocked us all
that's not a good omen for the people in charge
Part of the problem though is that because we have been in drought for so long, they haven';t been able to clear the litter or backburn
josh the biggest tragedy, is other humans started most of these fires, knowing what could happen,unless they got caught in their own fire and perished, i do not think they will get what they deserve, even if they are caught

its not really the people in charge , a lot of it has been hard fought for to keep the greens vote

The Royal Commission is more to determine what is best to do in case of Bush Fires from what I hear. Perhaps stay and defend is not the best recommendation. The Pegausus(?) Task Force set up by Police will be determining who/what is responsible for the fires and deaths

i have lots of friends who are involved with green parties in any number of countries. and i'd have to ask them, but i think they are intelligent enough to know the function of controlled burning in fire-prone areas. so it's confusing that a green party would take an anti- stance on that
however josh, we had high 40+ temps for over 5 days... never seen in the history of this state. We do know we can't 'outrun' a fire... there was no warning cause it was so ferocious... people had less than 10 minutes to get out

if you watch the footage on infrared... the firefighting aircraft are useless... they drop the water and the water dissipates before it hits the fire.
No babrab... it was concentrated in Western Victoria across to mid/eastern victoria... then it moved north... The ones that are in NSW are small and isolated... except for the ones started near sydney... they were arson
let's put it this way... the 'fuel load' in Victoria is more than 3 times what we have in NSW (in our forests)
at least major metropolitan areas are for now not in the path of the fires
prescribed burning & fuel management is the only way to avoid this disaster... that is critical
we also now have looters its not Peagusus its Phoenix Task force (just heard about it )
indeed babrab... the last time that happened in sydney, was in 1992?? a fire started in the middle of the northern sydney suburbs and wiped out heaps of houses!! Very very 'leafy' suburbs... backburning became a major factor in avoiding this. We have backburning occuring in our suburb all the time! (We are North-West Sydney)

Back again. Slow running computer problem. OK now. Infernal I checked your link and I think it is wonderful the way people pull together when needed. I saw a picture yesterday of a koala that survived the fire and was being fed water from a bottle by a rescuer.
That got me that did. Koalas are not nice. They have teeth claws and pee on you and are not friendly at all. I can't imagine how desperate the little fuzz butt was. So much destruction.

In the Orthodox community I'd say we are considered average. But my brood is unusually close together, nursing never worked for me as birth control - be we were okay with it.

I feel sorry for her mother who has been left with 6 small children to look after - she looked worn out on tv the other night.

I am planning a wakeover for my pathfinders....instead of sleepover...we doing stuff all night...we starting at a play..then going to bowl...then going to a museum that openning just for us..then off to the border to do a tour of customs in midle of nite....then..to the A&P for snacks ( they open all nite for groceries ) then...going to a bakery...off to farmer's market for set up and early shoppers..then mc donalds for breakfast..THEN they get to go home and sleep

In Israel the kids have winter camp which is 2 days and one night. The kids prepare a lot of the programming themselves. My daughter is in a dance that will be performed at some crazy hour like 2 or 3 AM. They are scheduled to sleep between 4 and 7 or something like that. No one sleeps but the girls all change into the new PJs they bought for camp!

Funny. I had a bad diapbetes scare (turned out my blood sugar machine was off kilter-not me) but it was enough for me to swear off sweets, potatoes & white flour pasta. I expected real withdrawl but it's been okay. I even had an unexpectedly long day yesterday & I was caught with no lunch. Instead of getting fast food or going into a bakery for something to hold me over, I bought some raw almonds & a couple of dates and I was fine.

I need my 'something' with my am coffee, I tried off the shelf and bakery no sugar cookies but there almost always awful. I now make my own. Whole wheat flour and a tiny bit of sugar is better than all that malitol or whatever chemicals they use.
I just dont do cakes, its easier for me..... I dont have sugaer in tea or on my cereals, I am quite good really.... I crve a little chocolate sometimes, but I have an apple instead.... :0)

I stopped adding sugar to things a long time ago, somehow that cookie first thing in the morning helps me get going and actually helps to settle my stomach. I use WW flour & lots of good things (pecans, dates) with just 1/4 cup or less brown sugar.

yesterday was just really long. had insomnia the night before so after 4 am didn't sleep much and when Tom coughed at 5 am I just got up. and was up for the next 19 hours... on only the 4 hours' sleep. Otherwise, the day was marvelous
