So Terra is all settled Sprite, sleeps thru the nite in his box? Do you have stairs and if so can he manage?
he does, lyn. We do have stairs but he is not allowed to climb them. His hips are still growing and settling, the vet said to wait until he is at least one year old before letting him walk stairs or do high jumps.
he sleeps till 6 am, 6.30 am. Then he must pee and after that is happy to sleep some more. Not bad for a 10 weeks old pupster, is it?

our scraps have become completely useful! I have had to put rules down about meats and eggs being fed to them. It isn't healthy to feed them 'anything'

chooks are the greatest weeders in the universe!
we are going to create a gate for them to roam the yard, and we have a 'large stick' to round them up now... they are pretty good about going into the coop

Has the dog settled down with them now? Coop I think
they love the chook house cause we have it covered with laying boxes and hay. We have to muck it out every couple of weeks, and spray down for lice, but that is a little price to pay for happy chickens. Dad gave me heaps of advice... we have to put iodine in the water and worm them
the dog is fine! she realises they are part of the extended family we have! It is amazing when we have children come here... they have never seen chickens and it excites them to no end! We have special aprons and gloves for them, and they have to put on masks when in the coop
Its terrific!
we also have a goanna named 'Oscar' that comes and visits every afternoon... he looks for the eggs. He is totally free range.... free to range how he likes! LOL
Oscar is 6'2" so he can do as he wishes :))

goannas are only found in australia... they are huge! and their claws are the length of your middle finger. You don't want to mess with a goanna
they go for chicken coops for the eggs. they will not eat the chickens, unless they are starving, but we have had enough rain than they will leave the chicks alone

2 of my most vivid childhood memories are Dad shooting rats running along the backfence (from the chook yard)..and then when he would slaughter one for a special occasion (like Xmas, how things change) - chopped their head off with an axe and hung on the Hills hoist. Remember well plukking the feathers and cleaning out the guts as well. Don't times change, thank goodness
I give them lots of greens, especially lettuce... and they get grated carrot, corn, cucumber and grated cheese. I also dig up worms and centerpedes for them! They hear me coming and go crazy!

I think it is strange that latin is actually referred to as "dead" - plenty of disciplines still use it, and there are still Latin masses and all.....
were i live its common to learn Indonesian, French, German and Japanese. I know of a few private schools / higher end public schools that teach the Chinese Languages and Latin.

a lot of it is letting go of preconceptions about what is really a word, I think. just keep typing combinations of 4+ letters and it's amazing what you get.
and make sure to read each line forwards and backwards, up and down, and diagonals too
then go around in circles until you are dizzy
