her birthday is today or will be?
I see my maiden surname is in the grid again, butt isn't a word.
Only North Devon, West. Not too far.
It would be nice if the baby arrived on Canada Day (July 1)

SU 6
West - good for me, good for stepdaughter, who's recently had to come to live with us, and most especially good for Other Half,. who's had all kinds of sh*t going on at work plus his ex going bonkers, disappearing, deciding to stay with her paedo b/f and leave her daughter to us.
paedo?
oh jac sounds like you all need to get away
su6
Clues are up
thanks lickety
Soory! Did I sound a bit bitter there? Nothing against stepdaughter, but if I had a gun sight and her mother was in it (though she's too fat to fit in one)...
hugs and kissies, Lickety!
good job lickety
ah, there you are, flosey -- how goes it?

No, jilli is not that, I was just telling her what I meant by paedo.
ok, jac, pedo here
First part of the way we spell the full word her in UK.
poor Sandy!
yup, she's exhausted
How CAN any mother worth her salt, stay with a man who's hit on her daughter? Even if the daughter was an adult, which my 'stepdaughter' is not... surely the sense of betrayal would kick in?
flip!
hi stid!
obviously in denial
(((gentle hugs for Sandy))) hello all
how's you, jill?
thanks stid
hi stid
I's ok, ty
I's tired. My day has been nice, but very long.
I'm free at last, of my weekly library shift :)
In denial, West? I'd call it desperate.

that woman needs help jac but I guess you know that
monkey found the un4/8 I thought wouldn't be real
oh no, stid -- will still do jobs there but not the regular sift
jilli don't tell me you up and quit on them
I do know that, West, and I told her so just before she buggered off for 3 weeks leaving her child alone and no one, not even her parents knowing where she had gone etc.
good grief
oh... well... *sniffle* MAYbe it'll be okay. *sob*
hi all...westie...wb....stid jilli evy1
west, I resigned from the weekly shift -- stayed on an month longer than I wanted to while others went on holidays
did your step daughter have the presence of mind to call her dad?
Her child may need help now,but I'm hopiing my fake Wicked Stepmother Act, including us both doingthe V-sign at each other earlier might do the triclk.

oh! *blush* sorry, just, I forget you're so precocious! *puts on touque and pulls the tab off a Molson's*
Major prob now is that 'step' would very much like me and her Dad to get married.
brb
NBT
lol don't get drunk know esp with a tuque in this humid heat
good job rbud and ty for trying to help me what was that word?
okay, is this better?
secund
his heat needs copious droinks of water, not booze.
stid, I almost used an icon showing a real bunny sipping out of a Labatt's beer can, but that's too Ontario
she wants stability

It's been a while...I seem to have forgotten how to play this game...something to do with words?!?

kaz --- rbud just gave a hint -- scroll doen
hot yellow disk? *considers what it might have been* a frisbee?
weather here is sunny and lovely, getting warmer daily but breezy so far
Shame that clip I posted doesn't have the right amount of bass to make it effective. It's so tame.
and the painter didn't show up..been here 3 times since the 16th
nice Jac...the youtube merci
I don't know about that, jill -- have been inside most of the time. I think being a more-than full-time student in the summer was a bad decision.
but things are not boding well for him
new one for me
that's so nice for you jilli...when I finally come to BC ...hopefully next summer it will be a rainy one
oh oh west. are you going to be able to get the job done?
hope so stid house looks silly now all scraped
is that the outside of your home westie?
just, last summer was miserable and so was the winter so we're overdue for nice
Maybe I should post an MJ tribute to upset all those who haven't been around since he was a kid and believe all the crap written about him?
well so are we jilli but that don't mean it's gonna happen for us :(
we got an email from his fiancee today saying they would not be able to rent our cottage in Maine second week in August where they had planned to get married
Or maybe I'll just go for a black sab track and bugger off?
please don't, jac -- there's been enough
who west? did I miss something...kinda slow on the uptake tonight
we took the 1st week so I could make sure everything would be nice for them
oh, that is too bad.
the guy that is painting our house
phantom -- celery
ohh really? so it's your house in Maine of which you speak or RI?
they planned to 'elope' but we think they've been talked into a big bash
hi all :) late flip
hey mrp!!! (((hugs)))
RI is being painted Maine is where they were getting married
hi mrp!
hi MrP!
http://tinyurl.com/nng8og
http://tinyurl.com/nng8og
outside RI ?
RI is a small state so it shouldn't take that long lol
Laguna Sunrise 1972 version. Jilli, I suggest you listen to this.
well, it won't take them long to finish RI, but Maine will take a while longer.
pretty song
it was, Wedt.
Happy Canada Day has been a trending topic on Twitter from unappreciated-feeling Canadians
they are appreciated here
Jac, that really is lovely
unappreciated?? not following, but them like I said...am very slow tonight
Led Zep Bron Yr Aur - http://tinyurl.com/m3jqw8
Douglas, I haven't learned how to use Twitter yet
jilli - rock bands are not all about noise.
So I hear, jac
If you don't like the way Twitter works, just wait a while, it'll be different
I found a video on Ali G... laughing my arse off!! his interviews are a cack!!
cack is short for cackle, meaning very funny?
The world knows just how wonderful Canada and Canadians are Doug....
oh not just funny stid! hysterically funny
I just don't KNOW how Twitter works, douglas!
boycott twitter
think I've seen all of AliG...know waiting for his "Bruno" movie! (Sacha Baron Cohen)
on't find AliG funny.
thanks for the clarification, mrp, stidkid has another aussie-ism for his upcoming trip!
*now*
why, mrp?
Bruno is going to be fantastically wrong!
well Jac it is old ....at this point
cause they started rumours about people jilli
just to get traffic to their site.
don't know AliG
My kiidslaughat his stuff but I just find mmost of it offensice.
I saw an Ali G episode on G4...the dance moves through the laser beams were unspeakably hilarious
evidentally he had a piece in the bruno movie something relating to MJ and it was cut out...
no wucking forries stid
don't know G4 (boy, am I ignorant!)
well, i am down to 90 words, *giggling at mrp's expression*
but that's what he exactly wants Jac....to be outrageous but it's all a spoof...
ec7
the spoof is amazing!
Listening to Led Zep right now anbd not giving a fu**
and I think I should turn in. I didn't sleep well last night, I think the cortisone shot on Friday is making me jittery -- am off coffee and still feeling it.
he parodies everything I think he's brilliant
he pulls it off so well and the look on these people's faces!! priceless
G4 is the channel for 15-year-old nerds, gaming, sci-fi, stupid comedy
how's the hip now, stid?
I don't know G4 either jill, we can be luddites together when I come up to see you in a couple months.
lol jac...and what are you imbibing whilst you list to zep?
*listen*
no wonder I don't know it, doug -- besides, it may not exist in Canada
hi
hi herin
half way = this could be a tough one
Now for some Blackadder... anyone want to join me in the PB?? I believe FM put in an amp and xbox last week.
I think it's marginally better, jill -- it still starts to hurt way sooner than I would like, but not as soon as it did. I am trying to do some stretching and strengthening already, and it's at least possible now.
I never inhibit, JustMar - but others do, so I comply ar rtimes.
go anike go!
Hi OSGMA
hey lady
Jilli....there is a British actor/comedian called Sacha Baron Cohen....he has several characters that he emulates of which one is Ali G....it was shown on Bravo or Showtime in Canada...
stid, I wish you could get some relaxation
and... I am not following conversations very well now. So I am outta here. Back when I can. *fades out wishing I could stay and discuss Blackadder* *poof*
Hey. I just got a program that enables me to extract the songs from the sims games :D
anothe character is (was) Borat...he made a movie for Borat
jilli, he is an 'acquired' taste!! and very tasteless at times! LOL
I know who Sacha Baron Cohen is
now he's coming out with a movie with Bruno...the gay guy!
What did mrp do to get in the PB?
so that is Ali G...one of Cohens characters
Blackadder is the best! So is Ab Fab! The Brits are bloody marvellous with comedy
I do imbibe whilst I listen, but never stray far from what I love music wise.
that's great Jac...so just what are you imbibing this fair eve/morn/afternoon?
bounce bounce bounce bounce
doug.... I just wanted to hang there... feel like home :D
I just know about that goofy Borat movie he did
Should I subject you all to my funeral song again, I wonder?
Yeah! Lyn Skyn, Freevird.
NO...nothing sad Jac...it's summertime such as it is and want happy
Borat was too wrong for me jilli... watched the first 10 min and walked out
hi hi hi
err Freevird or Freebird?
nope still dont care
Hi Josh

Glad you all know what the song is adnd can play it for me worldwide.
OH and I did talk to a best friend today about it too
Muy only claim to worldwide fame apart from a film from and Elnire Leonard book that box-pfficed worl wide.
And I can't type now, cos it's almost 7am.
sigh. late flip again
Jac isn't your bed waiting for you? Or is it too b??? hot

well it depends what time one awakens, jilli !
hi rushie
Right now Twitter is being invaded by he5 of people seeking to make a buck
thanks just, will look for it
ok will make a note right now so as not to forget!
Yes doug, trying to make some mo5
Also hello jill
Ok I think i have lost it
btw, I bought this cheese n spinach ravioli at Costco and it really is delicious...very tender dough...not chewy or thick
Are any of you fond of the band Radiohead?
I know the band, don't listen to them
good to know just, thanks
i have seen them in concert a couple of times, and liked them quite a bit at one time
In one hour it's Canada day, eh?
I believe they sound a bit like the beatles, Doug?
it's Canada Day right now for me rushie
right Rushie
depends where you are, rushie
For me, it's Canada Day eh
ehhh! lol
I ask because my son asked me to listen to their latest album, rather atmospheric, technically clever but emotionally detached, I was not offended, but neither was I enthralled
*Americans are looking in awe of Canadians in their natural habitat*
how old is your son?
lol you make us sound like we're moose or something
natural habitat being what?
13 - the people at the record store recommended The Bends, but we got In Rainbows
no just, just a little deer
Well, not far off
Hi all Mari you out there?
Moose are dumb creatures that stand in the middle of the road and mate with everything that moves, sounds like some northerners
I am listening and singing in Simlish. I need help
hello diem
lol flosey or maybe grizzly's
your son is lucky to have a father who is open to listening to bands he likes. the bends is much earlier, and rawer
grizzlies*
haha
grizzly's is a possessive. You mean grizzlies.
whatever you got my drift and I'm still unnourished
Thanks joshua - very kind of you
I don't like apostrophes being abused
Makes me cry :(
same here.
Like when every word with an s on the end has an apostrophe, it makes me cringe
I've found all of 63 words, and it's closing time...declaring moral defeat...good night all
well come to Quebec then rushie....we have the apostrophe SS police...they have all been banished but we don't know where they were taken
What exactly did they do?
didn't Grumpy's get their back?
theirs
help
well there is no such thing as an aposthrophe s in french rushie so any signs with one have been removed from sight
rushie, the language police decided apostrophes where too English so Eaton's became Eaton and so on.
we just wanna know where they all went is all :)
So "Bob's house" became "Bob house"
la maison du Bob actually
I don't speak French so I wouldn't know the French word
well, the bar my d-i-l part-owned was Grumpys (no apostrophe) -- very anglo but they got away with it.
All Canadians should learn French
I can't learn another language
Not really my thing
but I must confess that my hubby's store...which used to be called Jack's Music...is now called Jaque's Musique..they're the only apostrophe s in town lol
special circumstances, rushie?
I'm good in the English language, and I'd sound like a madman trying to speak French
that's hilarious, just!
Well jill, I'd call it stubborn as a mule
I meant "Jacque's*
Not exactly special circumstances
it's true jilli and they're located on St. Antoine (Craig) corner St. Urbain right next to the provincial court house and just off Old Montreal!
the joys of living in Que!..but the food is too good to be true as is the culture so who can complain?
rushie, as a brit kid going to a brit school in Shanghai, we started French at about age 7.
I probably could learn a new language, but it's never interested me
yes, just, there are plusses about Quebec
So I just complain that I can't do it
that's too bad, rushie
and these days Jilli...les tete carrees are the pet du jour...they love us! lol
Well, everyone I know that speaks a different language says it was worth it
It takes ages to learn it, and I wouldn't have many uses for one
where are you Rushie...?
British Columbia
oh, that's too funny, just
well then you better get a move on your Mandarin and Cantonese!! lol
mo7 is a strange word - just monkeyed it
Born and raised by rednecks :P
just, there's been talk of Mandarin immersion schools
what happened Jilli was...last week for the Fete St. Jean...err fete nationale....they were having a pre concert the evening before....2 English groups were accepted to play...
then the small nationalist aholes made a fuss and they were then "disinvited"...
well the gen pop went nuts and they were re
I saw that, just -- I get the Gazette headlines online
asked to appear
Ok hands up does one think that since I have been on the couch for 4hours I should actually move
and so they played and the crowd loved it and shut out the few hecklers
*waves hand high for herin*
Only move if you're hungry or thirsty
uhhh only you are qualified to answer that herin
Otherwise it's cool to keep sitting down
or if you need the bathroom facilities...
Well everyone, I must be off to bed
Well I am kind of hungry and i do kind of need a shower and that other borrowing stuff. Just1 yes that too
11:17 and I've been busy today
where in BC Rushie?
Stacked a cord of wood, ride a bike a few miles...
hey, all!
Vancouver Island
well bon soiree Rushie (have a good evening) from this quebecois
HI Melonhead
quebecoise, n'est-ce pas?
*poof*
hi melon!
PB To Jill PB to JIll
where on Van Isle, rushie?
yeah jilli...still undernourished...brain should kick in in about 10 or so minutes
*puzzling about PB order*
you said a word :D
oh yes -- hi hondeydew!
I put forth that anyones name that is in the grid should be exempt from the PB...eg Dart Melon etc etc
Rushie lives in Cumberland, Jilli
honeydew, that is
Oh Ok
thanks, bug -- I remember -- a student of yours
hi, i dove into the grid - and found myself - a bit ;)
i want to make celery so bad
His Dad is a logger so he is very proud of what he considers his redneck heritage.
lol
I'm a lumberjack and I am okay...
My kitty has decided that he has the couch and that my foot is not allowed on it.
lol to making celery and lol to the redneck pride
I started singing that to him one day ruru and he looked at me like I was totally gone
lol..love Monty Python
now making celery would be kinda ok for a ....oh never mind
No comment Ru
thought GOd made celery..?
i am not anxious to cook celery, only to type it and get points for it
bug, I have a friend who is an early education teacher. She has a 7-year-old boy she is teaching and his dad doesn't want him to learn to read. The kid wants to be a hockey player and dad says he won't need reading.
lol obviously josh ...just kidding
such a person still exists today jilli???? geezuz
he will need to know how to spell goal
hi ruru
hi jilli
dad is from arkansas?
my friend said he'll need to read his NHL contract
How horrible for that family Jillli! My guess is that Dad is not strong on reading and doesn't want his boy to catch on
btw, herinfernallady knows ABsolutely Everything about Everything
vanity vanity all is vanity
?
no ru I think w virginia or tennessee (sp)?
He will need to know where to sign and he will need to know how much he is going to get paid if he makes it that far. She should keep working on Dad
What kind of MORON parent would not let their child read. Reading is great. How is child going to get their drivers licence?
I'm 3 shy of NBT. Last column O, row 2 A, and the U. Any babblets here?
an X signed with a witness will suffice
last column o is brutal - oe7/32
jilli - luv the icon!
I'm thoroughly disliking this grid. Had such hopes when I saw the nice size, but ...
thanks, melon!
I second that Jilli
i used a babblet for the 2nd row A
me too jilli...thk gawd for lickety
u is normal i think
that is a hare raising icon there jilli
I am going later gators
groan, ruru
bye herin
byee herinfer!
oh yippee, I remember the yl babblet all by myself!
wtg jilli...not at all liking this grid
Hi All - Josh your "normal" and mine are not alike. The un 5/16 is impossible.
ha - i try to un5/16 in arguments with my lady friend all the time
See what I mean - impossible.
now just need the lower left N words for nbt but can't see anything
what a silly word that is un5
geeky little miss muffet is the n jilli
Grandmas
I have un4 but not the 5
josh, i thought of that and then didn't try it! now All I need for NBT is that last column O.

ty just
tx jilli - i had tried same except with start of tart citrus replacing honeydew.
thanks ru, was a word I didn't have!
rur, it has been decreed that if a babbler's name appears in the grid there will be no PB for the user.

thx jilli!
Penalty Box
ummm - woops, jilli?

I hope she got married
lol jilli, all she needed was to lose the r in her name!!
I heard she married irving Ers and hyphenated her name jilli
oy vey, ruru!
And then if she got divorced her ex would say "shoulda know - I married a schmuck".
lol
lolol flosey!!!
if she did what ruru said maybe she got rich making jam
my bro in law's last name was pecker....they uh changed it to parker when they had kids

Hi BabRab, dinok tijan
anyone mention that this grid is strangely full of men's names? 7 jumped out at me. eeek
wow don't think I have ever seen the mo 7 either
mo7 please
lol
just googled it. Either a kingfisher or a European Bee Eater, apparently!
heeheehee. I know it's set up randomly (except for the "qu"), but sometimes I get the feeling Dr. G is playing around...
not a kingfisher I've ever seen, dinok -- thanks
I am not too bright but i don't suffer fools gladly
the mo7 is the condition of being hermaphroditic
definitely a bee eater, found a whole images thing on it
thanks, dinok!
mo 7 -- add, a city in Alaska: **m*; and weep: *r*
night everyone...this non-word grid ain't for me poof
yes, just, it's a waste of time
byye just
Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canucks and to my American cousins who should be so grateful for having us a neighbour and friend! Take care and have fun
Same to you, just -- have a good jazz-fest
thx babblerabble
yw
lu7
tx BR and google!
lu7 is a plural - for lu6 take the first three letters of the entrapping lu4/5 and add Mr Quayle's first name.
lu 6 -- those who read the chat without speaking are referred to as lu*kers and hoss: *** blocker; pl
Good morning/evening all.
hi haz -- welcome to this horror
thx Haz
You're welcome, tijani.
morn haz. ty again BR. where are these 'words' coming from !!
Hello jillibus - I reckon I'd better be prepared to learn some new words today.
there's a disadvantage to being a good speller with a grid like this and a "dictionary" like this.
ur5/14 please
ur5/14 - u plus an anagram of either Mr Clapton or a staple food in Asian countries
Thx Haz Last one au 5/12
au5/12 - au plus first letters of what you hold to guide a horse - and to help hold on!
well, I've had enough of this and it's bedtime
ok ppz, gotta prep for work. TC and enjoy grid if you can today!! *poof*
Bye dinok.
bye dinok and thanks for the bird
dont kno haz
The leather straps that fasten to the bridle?
It sounds like what a king or queen does to the kingdom, but is spelled differently - the first three letters of that.
Or, a plus the first letters of the u5/14 that I clued for you.
got it thx
haz i owe u one
That's good.
I'll get your billing address later.
im actually in tunisia right now, not the us
On holiday?
yup
were the same time as you
GMT
And what are your impressions of Tunisia?
well i come here every year because my dads family is here and it is really beautiful we have a house in sousse
have u evr been there
So you're well used to the place. No, I've never visited Tunisia. I've been further south in Africa in Kenya and Tanzania but I'm sure the countries are very different.
Is French spoken in Tunisia or am I thinking of Morocco?
it is very nice around 30 degrees evryday and we can go to the beach in about ten minutes on foot
french and arabic are spoken
That sounds perfect. How long are you there for?
until july 29
we got her last tuesday
today is also my sister's birthday
That's a good long holiday! Do you speak either language? It would be great practice for you.
Happy birthday to your sister - how old is she today?
i kno french and today is my first day of arabic lessons
c ele
my sister is 10
Joyeux Anniversaire!
merci
Is there a party planned for her?
a little one
They're the best kind.
bonjour tout le monde!
Bomjour Atalante!
Bonjour Atalante
Haz where do you live?
Je viens de regarder le photo d'Atalante. Je suis .... je n'ai pas des mots.
i was actually born i London
I live in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
wow
never been there
Gosh, you're a citizen of the world.
It's the centre of the world, or so some people here like to think!
ive been to 25 different countries
on my way to tunisia this year we stopped in frankfurt and had a day in the city
Well, you've been to a lot more than me, and you're a lot younger. Is your passport well worn?
i just got a newone
It sounds like you'll get a lot of use from this one.
i probably will, next year were stopping in Paris or Amsterdam
Did you get one of the new biometric ones? They're quite fancy.
no just regular
I managed to get a biometric one - without asking for it, mind you. Lots of holograms and things and goodness knows what information stored in there.
do you have ec 7
ec7 - to do with mo5 and the management of it
Or think of what measures you have to take to save mo5.
dont know
Thank you Haz! Hadn't got that far.
ec7 - ec, not off, a vowel and then a word to indicate that something belongs to me.
You're welcome, Sally.
lol it was yesterday' icon - a celebrity living near us :P
and then babble completely died TWICE while I was trying to get rid of it!
I wondered! You're in the PB by the way.
don't care! am just celebrating getting babble back at the moment! ok, let's try to change the horror again :)
i think ive already wasted a couple hours on see ya
Just babble playing up? That must have been frustrating.
Okay, tijani - enjoy the day and don't eat too much cake.
G'd Morning Babblers! This is a soul killing grid.....
there. that's *much* better
Good morning Lori! You're early on parade.
I've been up for an hour and a half or so. 38 left after the first sweep, yowsa.
Captain Jack isn't a happy bunny, I hear.
Captain Jack? <----
he's been telling you all about his angsts, has he?
Ata Hari, h ow's Hobbit ?
at least you recognise him now!
Otherwise known as John Barrowman, object of Ata's stalking tendencies. A bit miffed that the BBC aren't giving him more air time.
Hobbitella is ok ... still very very quiet, a tiny bit whimpery. But shes had some food and water and done a wee, so she must be ok!
I always recognised him, but from his other TV appearances, never seen him in the Captain Jack role.
lolol, ***duh*** Facebook, their motto: stalking made easy. Have you already done that to death?
It'll take a while for the sedation to get out of her system but she'll be grand!
he's perfect as Capt Jack - well, the role of Capt Jack was pretty much made specially for him after he was in Dr Who for an episode or two
Poor Hobbit. :( Will be bouncing bobbing shortly, I'm sure.
oh yes, she's distinctly better than last night! the poor babe, I've never seen her soooo quiet and floppy
What's happened to Hobbit Ata? Not been in the chog for a while.
and she's gagging a tiny bit when eating her food, but nothing that I wouldn't expect after having a tube shoved down her throat!
G'd morning Sally
Sally LOL, I have a stupid dog. She ate an icelolly stick whole
It always amuses me on programmes like Holby where people who have supposedly had general anaesthetics are sitting up and having arguments only minutes after coming round. It takes longer!
Hi Lori, all.
Oh no Ata! Did she eat the lolly as well?
yes LOL!
:-)
but it would make for a very boring programme .. person: hi! can I go and argue with my girlfriend please? nurse: in 2 hours time. person: oh
I grant you that, but it's just so unrealistic. And every single person coming into hospital has an 'issue'.
at least one. preferably topical
Speaking from experience, it's the visitors who start to have issues!
Yes, whatever happened to sympathy and a bunch of grapes?
Or a bottle of Lucozade.
They still make Lucozade? Remember having that when I was sick. Also Tizer!
They do still make Lucozade, but not sure if they still wrap it up in that crinkly yellow plastic stuff.
I actually rmember being brought a bottle of Lucozade *and* some grapes when I first ever had an op
by the housemistress of teh school I was at at the time
That was always a test to see how well the patient was doing. If they could undo the paper round the Lucozade, the surgeons declared the operation a success.
One-upmanship Ata!
I hated Lucozade!
love it now though
LOL Haz. Though I should say rather sad for me at the moment. Husband has injured his neck and slowly trying to regain use of his hands.
I'll try him on the Lucozade test.
You've got to hand it to the marketing people for Lucozade. First they market it for the sick, then they decide it's just the thing for sportspeople. Talk about blue sky thinking.
oh poor Sallys husband!
Oh, poor man! That must be a worry for you both. Did he have an operation?
That's terrible Sally, hope things go well for him from here in.
No. Got up in the night in a hurry, blacked out (got up too fast), fell across the bath and hit his head. When I went in the bath looked like a scene from Psycho, his hands were dripping with blood where he had a head wound. Also his head had gone back and has injured his neck.
That's the short version! Has been in hospital for two weeks now.
OW!
OUch!
I've discovered there's not much traffic at 3am.
Wow, quite the thing.
You took him to hospital yourself?
He is re-learning to use his hands.
No Haz, I called the ambulance but followed in the car. I lifted him back from the bath because he was head down and then saw the head wound. Thought at first he had coughed up blood.
Is he getting lots of Occupational and Physical Therapy?
Some Haz - but this is the NHS remember! I am taking him in things to exercise his hands.
and Lucozade?
Yesterday they allowed him out of bed for a short time for the first time.
I'll put the Lucozade on my list!
That must have been horrifying for you, Sally. I'm glad he's on the road to recovery but it will probably take a long time.
squooshy tennis ball things - that's what they suggested for my grandfather for something similar
Can you imagine what the reaction of the professionals would be if you swept them aside and said 'It's time we got started on the opening of Lucozade.'
Yes Haz. My chiropractor said could take months to get full use back. Ata - I have taken him in a squeezy ball. Also (don't laugh) some haricot beans that he can learn to take out of a pot and put them back in again.
LOL Haz. He has just started managing to butter his own toast.
not laughing, sounds great practice! but i can imagine how frustrated he must be
Once you've got him down to being able to transfer lentils and split peas he'll be ready for home.
Yes, he is incredibly artistic and does delicate work with his hands.
Actually we'll start on the making of the soup then Haz.
I do sympathise - an awful situation especially for one who is used to using his hands a lot.
There should be a cookbook issued 'Lucozade and lentils, my road to recovery'
It could have been so much worse. There was a young guy airlifed in with a broken neck, had dived into a shallow swimming pool.
Double ouch!
LOL Haz.
owie owie! was he drunk??
young men diving into shallow swimming pools tend to be drunk / not particular clever :P
or c) my brother (but he got away with it)
Don't know. Has now been airlifted over to Oswestry, which is the big spinal hosp in Shropshire.
I'll pass over Ata's lack of adverb, but it's on4 because I'm feeling extra sympathetic.
ooops I really can't type today
oh yay Oswestry hospital. how nice for him.
Sally, you were mentioning about the visitors having issues. Have there been arguments and things?
No, being flippant about the visitors who get worn out while the patients get 24-hour care.
tis true though
However, one sad but funny story. There was originally an 87-yr old in Tony's ward, and also someone of similar age with dementia.
One of my friends is a ward manager in a maternity unit and I think if she had her way, the fathers might be allowed in for about ten minutes, once a week.
The man with dementia tended to wander and interfere with the other patients' belongings.
One night T was woken up by a fight!!! Dementia man had gone to 87-year-old's locker, who was seeing him off with his walking stick.
goodness!
I know it's sad but couldn't help giggling. Walking sticks at dawn.
Walking sticks are so multi-purpose!
If you didn't laugh, you'd cry.
you really have to laugh at things like that
HI
hi herin
hi herin
Father-in-law was pretty spaced out after having had an anaesthetic and solemmly informed us that children (of a well--known and highly respected family) had been rampaging through the wards. He also claimed that painters had been standing on his bed to reach the ceiling.
and things like that become just hysterically funny when you're exhausted in the first place!
How goes it?
But how else would they reach Haz?
The fact that the ward hadn't seen paint for years didn't manage to dissuade him from telling the story over and over. And true, why would fictional painters use ladders when there are beds to be stood upon.
fairy aeroplanes
Oh, they'd be fun. Remote controlled planes with paint aboard. That's bound to be good for motor skills.
Had a weird dream the other night that a friend had come in and painted my hen house a disgusting cacky green. Now what's deep in my psyche there?
Which was weirder - that she had painted the hen house or that it was in a strange colour?
paint bombs
I was very upset about the colour in my dream!
so I shuld think!
I wish you guys could see what I am watching
Maybe it shows that you have unresolved issues with khaki. Any war memories?
Any bad dates with a soldier? Issues with authority figures?
talking of war memories - this was a strange thing that happened with my grandfather - he had a stroke and was in a nursing home for a few years before he died. But while he could hardly speak when awake, when he was half-sleep, he would speak much more fluently in German. shows how the war so so deeply affected him
Don't think I ever dated a soldier. Just realised the relationship between khaki and cacky. Interesting.
That's amazing, Ata. The brain is so complex, isn't it?
I thought only England could specialise in Chav weddings
? herin?
just incredible. will never ever forget that
I am watching this wedding and OMG its wogtastic
That speaks volumes Ata, for sure.
Was he a prisoner of war, Ata?
http://tinyurl.com/qa9j6k Here be prepared to claw your eyes out
Sally, perhaps your dream simply meant that the henhouse needs maintenance... :D
no! that's what's so weird in a way, he had a "nice" war. He was a driver in northern Germany, and as far as we know, he didn't see much actual fighting himself. just makes you wonder how soldiers in the front lines / POWs were affected
but he never really talked about it, so there could easily be a lot he didn't tell anyone
My grandfather was the same with his experiences in WW1. All we know is that he was hospitalised and unable to speak for 6 weeks, but he wouldn't talk about what happened at all.
did you know that Tolkien fought in WW1, Haz? *just going off on a random tangent* He was on the front lines for nearly a year
I didn't know that.
he wrote a lot about his time around Ypres, he lost his 3 best friends who had enrolled with him, got shell shock, got other injuries. All sorts of things. His writings are just harrowing from then
A ghastly war, not that any war is good.
no, but that one was particularly wrong
Sally - back to your husband - do the doctors have any idea how long his recovery might take?
If I could interrupt a moment, and place the focus on me, I am announcing I got 8 words in 1 hour. ***awaits suitable commiserating***
I think I've managed about 2 LOL
Morning all, is the grid that bad? HAven't started it yet.
8 words in an hour? That's not great progress, is it? Do you need more coffee, more focus or more brain cells?
G'd morning FM. ***incoming!*** This grid is poopy.
it's not nice!
oh joy!
Good morning FM. It's been okayish, but Im coming to the conclusion that I may need to use resources. So unlike me.
All of that and more Haz.
That was a test to see if sarcastic font is showing up.
Haz, not really. They thought initially he had actually broken something, but MRI scan shows not. They think just severe bruising and swelling around the spinal cord. He has now progressed to a soft collar and they are going to try to get him mobile this week.
2:15 FM. Make sure you're home!
If only Haz knew of a good online resource.
If only...
brb
Get back here FM, don't you dare go to work! :p
Well, good to hear that nothing's broken. So your life revolves around hospital at the minute?
Better days ahead Sally.
Is he in pain or is that a given with that amount of brusing?
Back, no work today. Yes Ata will be by the radio :)
Ata how is silly Hobbit
***Dear Diary, today Haz made a typo***
ok, dad's operation is now on sunday... so lickety is going up friday with the kids, coming home late on sunday, then going back up on his own wednesday for a few days.
Hi herin, that was one heck of a wedding!
Phone
word of the day : mow the laundry
Hope it all goes well MrP
Haz, on painkillers, and quite calm really. I would be going spare! I top up his iPhone with good iPod stuff so he has some listening.
Ref to 2.15? Torchwood?
silly Hobbit is very quiet and listless, but fine :)
hi all
Mornin' ardilla
Give her another Iced Lolly sans stick?
yes Sally :)
yep!
Hi ardilla
And back - hope he continues to recover well, Sally - don't forget to look after yourself.
poor pup. She needs to learn Oscar
she's learning from Os all too well, that's the problem!!
She needs Spangle as a role model.
awe poor Hobbit!
she does. I'll bring her over for behaviour lessons
Spangle doesn't know yet why she was getting her vaccinations and kennel cough thingy last week.
I have to say, she's a lot more floppy still this morning than I thought she'd be, but endoscopy isn't fun even if you're a dog, I suppose
keep her blissfully clueless as long as possible!
But Os chews. I am so glad that you were paranoid enough to take her to the vet.
She may twig when bags start to be packed.
how long before you are off Haz?
We go on Thursday to Edinburgh, coming back Saturday. Then the two of us go to France on Monday, back on Friday. She's only in kennels for the two nights we're in Edinburgh.
***Giggles about Haz being "off"***
oh the reproachful eyes you will get!
OH Haz you are a terrible fur parent (giggles)
Yes, and I've got to take her. Husband has arranged to be at work. Joy of joys.
gah! I hate that! I always try and make D take Hobbit to kennels. I can't bear it
Oh the tugging at the heart strings!
But I refuse to be guilty. She'll have food, water, shelter and exercise, more than a lot of children in the world can look forward to.
I just won't look at her!
the refusal is fine until the *eyes*
oh stop it both of you!! you're making me go misty!
when I left hobbit at the vets yesterday, she kept trying to run after me, it was horrid
Hey, maybe she'll be relieved to see a different set of faces. And think of all the other dogs she and bark with.
she *can*
Spangle can come and stay with AuntyFM
awww poor Hobbit.
lol FM, you don't know how close I was to asking whether you'd like to look after Sily while I'm away next!
Oh that would have been wonderful
I have to get a pet sitter. i can't have my cats locked up
but I would have spent the whole time rescuing Sily from open windows and the balcony.
I got her into her favourite cattery eventually, but when you might not be busy moving, you're welcome to the brat any time I'm away :P
lol yes, she's far too fascinated with window sills
And Silli opens windows
Okay. It's official. I hate this grid.
she opens anything. like cupboards. and then shuts herself inside them
snort then she gets lost
You should have called her Houdini.
It's one of those days today, am stuck on soduku and the prospect of a poopy grid is not good.
My little ratbags did that the other week then they got locked up for 8 hours no dirt box nothing
Mums cat was like that, as soon as a cuboard or wardrobe was opened he would be in there.
and to make my life happy one shredded curtain
one of aylas cats has a thing about boxes. if a box is brought into the house - of any size - she's in there. even if she looks like a muffin top cat
If you move things that is it It must A) be investigated and then b) Die
There is a babbler whose icon is her cat squdged into a box, trying to think of her name. such a funny pic.
this is ayla's box-cat: http://tinyurl.com/nsxp2w
They love boxes and bags
awww kitty
lol and love the one of TMan in a box too, looks very satisfied.
T-man fits in no boxes. He's huuuuuge. But he tries!
LOL
Well guess I had better make a start on this grid then ... I suppose ...
it's a good grid, in a - a - dificult way
Is that the black kitty Ata? How big?
yea right Ata, I'll let you know **dives in**
It's a good grid in a stretch your mind, memory and resources kind of way.
kyla is kinda normal sized, except she's on a diet cos she keeps scarfing everyone else's food
Hey guys, been a while since i've been here
yes. stretch your memory for strange oe words!
Hi Scyth.
It's a good grid in an alternate universe kind of way.
Oh my little monkey can now stretch at about 150cm
Thanks Ata Hari! That o was driving me mad.
Mornin' Scyth
lol, thought I'd at least give FM a start ... :)
hi Scyth
25 left. Painful.
Sup ata
so thoughtfull ;) Hi Scyth
Hey
hi everyone
Did you see that horrid dress before? Hi ANdree
Hello Andree and Scyth.
just reading back about pets in cupboards, ha ha when my oldest son was 4 , i lost him , called police etc etc big drama, he was asleep in the linen cupboard!!!
oh no Andree! LOL!
Oh how funny (after the fact)!
so embarrassing
http://tinyurl.com/qa9j6k This is fantastic. OH dear Andree
should i start this
Andree, it's a grid with attitude but doable.
not sure Andree
Not that I've done it yet, but optimism is my middle name.
Are you completely over your flu, Andree?
yes thx haz
my monkeys are suffering with heat exhaustion so will be no good to me today, unless Lori unleashes her water cannon ... looks round hopefully.
Oh good Andree flu is just yuk
That's good. I saw in the chat a while ago that you got the unexpected chance to be at a Simon and Garfunkel concert. That must have been incredible!
Their music is timeless, I think.
apparently Ayla's big fat T-man cat managed to shut himself in their glass-fronted bits and bobs cabinet. I think they walked past him a good few times before peering in and realising that, yes, the cat was asleep in there
i have been down the south coast for 4 daysto the naval academy for my niece's graduation
haz the concert was a buzz specially the price, lol
Belated G'd mornin' Andree. ***Lori refuses to douse FM, takes the fun out of it***
A fantastic experience!
darn :(
Is that Lori contrary or what?
FM, just start a riot and the police will happily practise their water cannon drill.
Forbidden fruit and all 'dat FM. That's the way she goes ... :p
and haz the combination of the two voices was magic
about as contrary as the grid, haven't typed so manywords in for none of them to take in a long time!
In Canada they'd pepepr spray ya'.
in the U.S. they'd use "Extraordinary Extradition"
well i had better start, not a word yet
Andree, they've always been able to sing and they both seem to have retained good voices. Every time I've heard Paul McCartney lately I've thought his voice sounded strained.
It might just have been the Heather Mills effect, of course. That would make any man's voice sound strained.
How big is this kitty Ata?
gosh it's a long time since we've been able to slag off Heather Mills
22lb, herin
um how long?
22lb of muscle? or is there a little more than meat on those bones?
She's always there, for when inspiration strikes.
art garfunkel was a bit strained but paul simon was as good as it ever was, amazing, i was so thrilled not to miss this concert
he's very big. there's definitely some fat there too though lol. how long? um. long!
his paws are half the size of my hands
don't think my DIL will start an arguement before a concert anytime soon
awww. Lucius stretches out to 150cm ish when he wants to tease Pandora
No, maybe she has learned her lesson.
that's a very large cat. my sister-in-law had a half-siamese that was roughly 20lb. had him declawed as some point, but it didn't matter: when her dogs would tease the cat, the cat would hit the dogs so hard you could hear the *pop* inside the house
hope it doesn't happen with the ac/dc tickets because i have no interest, my son has tickets for both nights in february
Trouble is blooming huge, he must have some Maine Coon or something similar in his heritage somewhere. He is just a gorgeous boy
wonders why the hell anyone would declaw a cat. And good on the cat for beating the dog up
cya guys, I have to go now
No, I think they've passed me by, Andree.
Bye Scyth
ugh. it's later than i realized. i should go too. nice hearing about your cat, Atalante. and nice hearing about the Simon and Garfunkel concerts, too.
Later Scyth
bye Scyth, bye Hunter
Holy cow, I found a word! Only 24 more...
bye hunter and scyth
go go lori!
i have 123 more words
It is a tough one.
Hi again - finished cooking and came back to find the last few.
Hi Dianne, nice to see you.
Hello Dianne.
Isn't this grid a pain in the butt?
yup
yep!
I'm going to take a break unless anybody is in dire straits.
Later Haz
Thanks Haz, but not in a position for clues yet.
Grand, off I go to see what needs to be done. Bye for now!
have fun!
Bye
Im going to take a break too, my office is just too hot. TTFN.
I managed to clock up 5 hours of couch time today (I am very slack)
Bye FM
Good morning Babblers :)
good day to everyone here
hi MM
HI Movie and Nono
clues for the 7s plz
have updated my icon for the day before I poof.
cute pic FM have a good day
I dont have any 7s
i barely have words :( only 20 so far and nothing larger than a 5
Nono is that a pic of your bunny ?
no its one i found online for todays theme in honor of Scrabbs
Oh why are we honoring Scrabs?
giving up here, too tired, will try at work tomorrow
its a count down to her new job
bye all
bye bye andree
Ok sorry I am a bit slow.
Bye ANdre
oe7 - oe plus a backward looking yellow citrus fruit
ty Haz, my first 7
You're welcome.
When times are tough, the government has to pay special attention to the ec7.
thanks again
nice one haz
Bye ANdre
You're welcome - it proves that there ARE sevens in there despite all appearances to the contrary.
I thought I had 2 7s :(
lu7 is a plural for lu6/24 - lu plus an anagram of what women used to do when there were holes in socks. Or an anagram of a South African currency.
oh that is a strange one!
It's a new one on me as well.
great clues Haz, thanks
co7.36 co & the W**c*** Stranger was a large gold nugget found in Ballarat - lose the end vowel for a 6
You're welcome. Is MM around to get the sevens, he was the one who asked originally?
lynxxx I was looking for a way to clue that one, good job
co6/24 - co plus a word backwards that forwards can be either a skin blemish or a digging underground animal. Add a vowel for co7
so there is just one co 7?
yes herin
Yes, lynxx and I clued the same one.
Thank you
mo7 is an anagram of ec7.
I am a little slow of the mark todayu
and so much for the 7's
Why thank you
Okay, back later maybe.
bye Haz
take care Haz
and thanks again for the 7's
thank you haz
I have certainly learnt some new 7 letter words today!
Thank you for the 7s
finally NBT
thanks for the 7's not sure I would have gotten most of them
Good morning/day to all.
Good Morning Scrabs!
I'm still here, and thank you all for the 7s
It's dark here--thunderstorms approaching.
hi Scrabs
Hi Pab. Nono that Bunny is from that Golden book
Hi Scrabbler
geesh Scrabs will these storms ever end?
It's summer--ripe conditions for thunderstorms. Now, if they could be limited to nighttime we would be happier, right?
Damn it my friend just teased me with comment of what Bridesmaids dress she is putting me in and then ran off minus details
absolutely Scrabs as long as they dont get too loud
time to get hubby around for breakfast...... see ya all later
Later Nono
bye Nono
Bye Nanette
HI Scrabs, check out my icon :)
i am realizing that this grid is a tough one. I have a measly 23 words.
It is Scrabs
Hello Scrabbs
Hi again herin and Hi lynxxx
hi FM
how odd - you can't 're' ho4.6
aparently you can only do it once :)
This grid sucks
Hi FM and Lynxxx. I was off taking turns in word games.

Hi Wolvie.
Yes, FM, I am well. I slept well last night.
Hi Wolvie. Sorry to discourage you
oh - it didn't - I saw h's so I was already there
good sleep is a blessing, I have been sleeping so badly recently up at 3 or 4 am but caught up last night.
Wolvie, hi, welcome back.
This grid does have a vacuum effect. But this is where BR enters and tells us how splendid it is. Come on out, BR.

night all
Good morning, Babblers.
Trying to figure out why the building just rumbled. We either had a little earthquake or something exploded not too far away.
oh hi Judi.. I hope things are ok
Well, I'm working at the police station and we haven't heard anything over the dispatch radio. We are very close to chemical plants and the nuke plant is right across the river - about 10 miles away. We're hoping it was only an earthquake!
hi, judi. Earthquake in Delaware?
Anything is possible, Takuma. The had minor ones in Pennsylvania and New Jersey fairly recently. I don't think it would be related to the one they had in Crete, Greece today. (A little too far across the pond from us).
Huh, yeah - I just checked, and according to the usgs, Delaware has had quite a few earthquakes
any my- words?
no hurshy
thanks
yw
Happy Canadian Day!
yes Happy Birthday to Canada
on behalf of Canada, i thank you
*searches frantically for large enough cake*
yw
just send a small chocolate one to my address
yw
py...do you want it snail mail?
they don't need cake, they've got health care and lower rates of violent crimes - that should be gift enough for anybody
'
by courier, please
Meet us at the border, Python. We'll have a duty free birthday party.
'morning (we've got health care that sees folks die while they wait for it and crime is comparable and proportionate to any north american city/town)
sounds good, lol
the big cities, like TO and Van, yes not so much the smaller cities
exactly .. small town = small town crime, big city = big city crime
i thought you guys didn't have much gun violence
You do have a most enviable subway/train system, Python. Hubby and I have been to Toronto and Montreal. Very posh and modern.
Toronto and Montreal are the only 2 that have subways, i think
it's here, hursh. gang violence, organized crime ... same as anywhere
where are you welki?
Well, if so, they should be the model for the world. Brilliant, clean, well-lit. You could very well live underground in Montreal.
calgary (we have a light rail transit system ... train above ground)
i'm right across the border from Detroit and i can't believe the difference
you can count the number of murders this year on one hand. Detroit has as many per day it seems
Enjoying the weather pyton? I'm north of you and can't believe it's in the 50's F.
*python...sorry
it's all relative to population and economics
i love this weather. i hate the heat
i suppose so welki
I don't like humidity and high heat, but enjoy the 70's.
i lived in Calgary from 79 to 83 and it was still pretty decent.
There is no economy in Detroit
yes, i hate the humidity most of all
we still have it good up here in the 'great white north,' though :)
there is no economy here either, we are (were) the automotive capital of Canada
i work in the justice system and can tell you that, in the last seven years, my volume has more than doubled
Py, didn't Chrysler reopen your plant?
still, i would live anywhere but Canada.. unless i won the lottery and could buy a villa in the south of France, hehe
i think Chrysler is still down while the bankruptcy is being finalized, then it will re-open
clue for en 5
I thought i heard they had reopened all their plants...maybe not all tho

Ah, just confirmed. We did have an earthquake. 2.5-2.7 on the Richter. Baby quake.
Where?
Delaware, Phaeton. About 45 minutes ago. Actually, it was centered in southern New Jersey. Just a little wiggle really.
Thanks, my kids are moving to NJ next week
phantom - drench
Very small tremors happen in the northeast fairly frequently. Most of the time, they aren't substantial enough to be noticed by us.

lu6/7 think of middle eastern headwear and change the first and fourth letters.
great clue hursh.. i got it from someone else's clue earlier, but that is lovely, i must say
i do what i can...
ic 4 changed :)
the outer part of a waterme5 but change the vowel to the sometimes...
I wish I could stop seeing heronry

Hello, hello. Just thought I'd say hello.

hello everyone
hi secooper
hi
hey boobear
there' s an awful lag in this chat today.
scoop!
I thought it was me!
car!!
Will gladly accept clues for Y words....I have Y 4/7 x 2.
Boo.. I keep having to walk away... lots of interruptions today.
car... ye 4/6... think of senate affirmative votes
Affirmative votes
yes
I only have one yu4/7 (the christmas log).
I have that one too.
yi5/16 - to give way and its plural yi6/27.
TY Haz.
Hello again, by the way.
yl 4
UGH! TY BR! Figures!
I did get it though!
ya4/8 - y plus the start of a car manufacturer which looks as though it's to do with hearing.
ya!
Plural is ya5/18
ye4/7 - misses out a vowel from the giving way yi5
clue for mi 5
ya5/18 - y plus the start of the traditional Scots New Year song.
mi5/14 - mi plus the first letters of the Scots New Year Song (**** Lang Syne)
hello again La Hazglettina!
Bonjour! Back after a hastily eaten evening meal - husband had to leave to do a call.
TY! Got 'em all!
Well done car.
will he have time to pack???!!!
He specialises in packing at midnight.
can someone clue the ye4/7 and the yi5 again... didn't understand.
(just read your email)
It's only for two days. How long can it take?
Yi 5 is a sign on the road, when you are merging into traffic
yi5 - to give way, or what farmers use to describe their crops, they talk about the yi5.
ty car... fish slap for me.
Drop the first vowel in that word for the Y 47
Or the y 4/7 to be correct!
perhaps the Queen has asked the Packing Queen to bring her some spare pairs of shoes
ok... got them
thanks all
Shall we finish up the U's now
I will be able to laugh about this eventually, but honestly, the whole thing is made far more dramatic than it needs to be.
ok... need a break... maybe even a nap... did not sleep last night at all...
Oh Mom! I have had insomnia lately and it is no fun.
2 days? underwear, a change of trousers, a few tops. ta da. done!
I stopped worrying about my husband's packing needs long ago... LOL.
car... tell me about it...
Exactly. But no, we have cross-referenced diagrams and lists of every social possibility.
It has a cause... and once she grows up I will sleep, LOL! I thought it was tough when she was an infant.. but 13 is tough.
Get some sleep Mom, but not too much now. You need to make sure you can sleep tonight!
mom - it isn't my husband's packing that causes me grief, he'll do it himself, but my elder daughter is a nightmare. Packing light isn't a concept she has ever adopted.
are you planning on meeting the Queen or going to the races or any other occasions of great social etiquette needs?
Honestly... I usually just pop one tylenol PM when I can't sleep, but last night I just stayed up plotting my revenge!
Hmmm... daughter's seem to be a theme...
Ooooooh....that can keep one up at night!
Scoop....care to comment
Where are they going?
The only thing we're going to is the graduation. Beyond that, a couple of meals in restaurants.
?
We're all going to Edinburgh for my other daughter's graduation.
Ever stress out your mom and keep her up all night?
And while I love my husband.... he is really not a great deal of help lately with her.
I'm sure she will figure it out Haz....
How nice... have a great trip.
ok here's a question ....
not really shes usually stressed out which is normal so i think she can deal with it....
She has already packed but not without a minor meltdown because I wouldn't let her bring more than hand luggage.
What up, Ata?
car... talked to my mother today... and she said NO!
hey snap haz - we're off to son's next week!
how do I tell my mother that I suddenly now can't come to the long-standing family Huge Party on Saturday because husband has decided to fly to Houston on Sunday morning and thus cant help me drive all the way up England and back?
Oh, exciting, Dippnall. Where is your son's graduation, Edinburgh as well?
I just scrounged up some money and sent her to meet her friends for lunch... literally just want a couple of hours of peace! Unfortunately not a pool day today.
blame him, it's the only way!!
evening everyone
no - newcastle - exciting, eh?!
Ata, tell her just like that.
Ata... I agree with Katie. Really not your fault.
Can you fly instead of driving, Ata?
well yes ... but she's still going to be Horrified. And blame me.
At least they have good beer there Dipp
OK, missing 1 U....have un 5/16; ur 4/6; and ur 5/14.
You cannot control her reaction, only your actions.
I've never been to Newcastle - hope they're not still crying into the Tyne about the football.
rather think the son'll be imbibing more of that!
that has been my mantra of late, LOL!
un4/8 - a singular item worn beneath?
I know ... but I also know I'm going to get the "disappointed in child" voice for months to come now
un 4/6
oops ment 4/8
My parents love hubby and I seem to get blamed even if it is his fault!
evening all - when we go on holiday we pach our clothes in a tesco shopping bag (the big reusable one) - one each for a week - one for a weekend - if it dont fit it dont go
Got it!
Mari has only used that voice on me a couple of times in my life but I find it an absolute killer
I did look about a flight up to Leeds, but it started to get very complicated with being there then being back here and finding kennels with a few days notice etc etc
Ata... if you can stand to hear that then speak to her... if not, keep conversations short until she gets over it. Don't torture yourself...
Great, car!
Love it Kazzer! Great plan!
sweet car!
Yes, scoop, I am sweet!
exactly, katie! even thought I know it's not my fault, I hate to disappoint her
of course!!! you would let me get a chinchilla!
My version of packing is to see how little you can get away with, my daughter's is to see how much you can squeeze in. I've failed in raising her.
while I will lose sleep over my child (as well I should, I think) I will not lose sleep or feel guilty about things I have no control over.
how old is she haz
Make sure she knows that YOU'RE disappointed, Ata. It would be better if she had to comfort you rather than the other way round.
Haz... I think as we get older we are more confident in our choices... if we bring the wrong thing or forget something we just deal...
How about a chincilla bunny? They have them at Dalby Farm in Scituate!
I have been to London today, it was evil in this heat!
Heat? What's that?
great idea Haz and true as well you obviously are disappointed
Exactly, mom. We're going for 2 nights to a city, not two months to the Outer Hebrides;.
ooooo and i asked my mom about getting a bunny yesterday and she said no
oooyes, good point, I might just be able to pull that off!
oh ick, Katie. that can't have been fun
I figure its the 21st century... can probably buy a bra or a pair of panties if need be, LOL!
lying with my feet in the air to try and get my swollen ankles down, think I may have to visit the doctor
why are you swollen Katie?
there are plenty of very nice shop in edinburgh - i have been there several times - the ending of each visit leaving me extremely enebriated
Oh joy...it is raining...again.
that's why I might have to go to the doctors mom, not sure. It is really hot here and I am overweight so it could be that but getting a little concerned
I love the Royal SCottish Museum
i wish it was raining here
how unusual auntie
I will send you some of ours!
The one in Chambers Street with the fabulous clock?
It will rain at some point here today again too Car.... I am in NJ... where are you?
its literally rained everyday this month here
please - it will save me watering everything again
We are up in Boston.
Well...scoop...it is July 1st, so if it has rained every day this month......
I love the heat but we just are not set up for it in this country, so much easier when all you do is lie on a beach
yep!
Katie... have you tried really monitoring your diet for sodium, MSG intake? Also, try a banana... potassium is supposed to help with swelling.
i should have said shops - i am a shopaholic and i love bog cities - regardless of the weather - i am saving to go to new york and maybe los angeles to get some clothes
I am of Irish descent... I always say that "my people" do not do well in the heat... LOL.
right...im not really in touch with the year or anything i just estimate
OK Car... pretty much the same weather...
I'm very fond of it as well, Ata - I used to spend ages in it when I was a student and wanting to have somewhere interesting to nose around.
thanks mom, I do take quite a bit of salt so will look at it
Kazz...loving your IC 4! Cute!
good for you kazz... Don't know about L.A., but can vouch for the shopping in NYC.
oops big not bog - too much head achy stuff in work today - must go now and cook hubbys tea be back later - found the donk on line - my photos are a bit crappy
Prepared foods of any kind are very, very, high in sodium Katie.
I did some field work with the geology department there ages ago, it was a great excuse to wander around the museum endlessly
ata our game's over ... u want to start another?
car - if you love donkeys we have a very good donkey sanctuary and i sponsor one

I gave it my best but was left wanting.
bye i have to go but hopefully if the power doesnt go out ill be back on tonight!
it's a shame, cos the Hadron Collider radio thing was really brilliant. It thought it was - ok. The ending was weird, what actually happened to her? But I loved LOVED Ianto line about "16 year olds, skanky, must be from newport" or similar
what's that you're talking about? sounds Torchwoody
Ohj yes the the Hadron Collider story was excellent and I was hoping for more of the same.
lol yep!
Yes Ylleria!
what have I missed?
Gwen's meant to be the moral part of Torchwood, and now she's suddenly not cos Andy had to remind her they were dealing with a kid. And Torchwood now harbours aliens? Somewhere? Lets them out in the world but keeps an eye on them???
there's a series of radio plays all this week, ylleria, on radio 4
The clue for the ru6 went right over my head. Any other ideas on how to clue it?
oh, cool
Have to fess up, I fell asleep in the middle of it so will listen to it again. Sorry :(

I am so glad to hear that. What a great big monkey off your back
Its nice.
watching the weather channel, you all have been getting pounded with rain it seems like
its persistent but the volume is not too bad. I am enjoying the lower temps, and doing a lot of swimming in the rain! How are you?
ah yes, the lower temps. Only in the 60's here today. I am doing pretty good. thanks
Oh good gracious, Mom, the 60's, now thats sort of close to being too cold for July.
it is almost like a fall day. But we should rebound by Friday back into the 80's
Summer is so great. I just love it. Love all seasons, but not very fond of winter.
•*´¯`*•.¸Fireworks.¸.•*´¯` *
Winter in Fla. wouldn't be too bad.
congrats Zoozzoom

Thanks MoM :-)
It really is not bad in Fl, I think the coldest it got was 39, and I will say that made me a little cranky, but really I am just soft.
you are so welcome

Oh, I might be very funny-looking, for all you know! :P

yesterdays grid was fun, but I fell asleep.
i gave up with like 35ish left and fell asleep
*Thank you, Lickety*
haha
I am using Lickety today ever since I got a little over half way.
i did the pathetic way by looking at the grid for 10 minutes and then going to lickety
Yes, I suppose I should get babble expert, but....I dont really like the grid.
what is different about babble expert?
I think in expert you enter it in lickety and its automatically entered into grid and it somehow prevents one from accidently typing words in chat, but I dont use it.
o k i dont either ya cause i think both of my aunts use it
Lickety will send iti to you. I just never installed it.
o k i dont think i will be using it for a while though

They were rich--more like a flourless chocolate cake with a white chocolate ganache on top and dusted with cinnamon.
JOh, and they had expresso powder in them too.

Love to cook, love to eat, and love the gym...it's a good mix
Off to do chores...good night all...happy babbling!

She was 86 though, and had been ill for some time.

HAHAHA . . .
hey tor! *more choclit -- with rum sauce*
oh, dear, I hadn't seen about Mollie Sugden....I liked her so much. What is WITH all the dying lately?
It's no wonder you get headaches, stidmama - seems you have an awful lot of stress! :/
I'm behind Stid - you are running an int'l mtg of something?
and Karl Malden today too....
did you see about Karl Malden? he was an amazing actor, too. *sigh* they always go in clusters
People do that, Trif . . . I'm trying to avoid it for another few decades, myself. :/
Yes . . .
I saw that about both. so sad!
Karl Malden too? (actually, surprised he was still alive)...he died too?
yes, there is a Phage Biology meeting every two years at my college -- folks from every continent (except I think S. America is missing this time) but Antarctica attend.
Oh that was so bad taste of me
he was 97 Green
Malden was 97
my plan is to live forever. so far, so good
go for it trifioso!

EL 5? I know it's a fish, but...

I shouldn't laugh Trifs but let me guess this guy doesn't know poverty if it bit him on his arse
ho 6? the last one?
worse herin - it was a woman!
and how very uninformed. in fact, children who are hungry and those who are malnourished (not necessarily the same) do NOT learn well.
Good nite y'all ..
good nite tor.
sweet dreams, tor. thanks for all your help
xx
*catches kisses and smiles*

mo5: the person who officiates at a bris (stolen clue)
thanks again min *thinking*
the walls are painted: upper half mdn tan, lower half is forest green with a mossy oak border where they meet
*thinking here too*
not moyl... *thinking*
it sounds like a lovely color scheme, pini
I think I'm going to go for a valance of the mossy oak with brown pannels that draw up with a mossy oak ribbon
I was going to say careful with the moss theme, but I suppose it's not likely to become the real thing down there... (it could here, we have to be careful to not paint certain areas too dark, if you know what I mean)
the furnishings are a polished pine ... very nice "suite"
I've been thinking about that for 2 1/2 hours since I never got it when it was clued by DR1965 at 9:56 P.M
I know what you mean, stid ;)
I am not sure it's working, min. I wonder if it's missing a piece of the clue?
I just copied and pasted the 9:56 clue from DR1965.

Oh, just saw a commercial for Pixar's movie, "Up"...saw it today with my GD ;)
(((stiddy))) awe, hope it goes away soon.
* curtsy * firewords thx to everyone!
If I take some time in August after this meeting to go see my grandfather and a couple plays in Ashland, can I stop by and meet your koda?
how was that movie pini?
Of course, Stid!!!
It was very well done, stid!!!
We both really enjoyed it (I'm sure for different reasons).
okay. will have to see how finances and all pan out. I also want to go NORTH with the kids and see jill. My life is complicated...
Min, Dan Aykroyd was born in OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada, the capital of this country. Leaving out the city is like saying somebody was born in California -- not very informative. This happens all the time to Canadians and is irritating.
I know the feeling, stid...it's getting so hectic around here that we're holding the in-town baby shower after the little one arrives.
stid -- how's the car hunt going?
Dang, missed Min
flip time yet??
it ended friday night, jill. Tom got a hyundai accent. the only affordable car that fits the tuba and two kids comfortably
hello mrp, soon...
i wanna see the back of this cruddy grid!
congrats on the find, stid ;)
it's a blue car, very pretty. and it got the best gas mileage of any of the cars we looked at, too.
I had a Canadian as my ic4/5 and didn't even know it was Canada Day. Now my ic 4/5 is a rooftop garden.
Oh, great, stid! We had a Hyundai in their early days and loved it.
My guess for next grid is 113 words. A nice small one.
Min -- did you see my message about Dan's birthplace -- at 11:56
thanks jill -- yes, I think the honda fit would have been more fun -- certainly bigger, but this will do until I am employed and we can upgrade.
small would be good....
113 REAL words would be nice!
so does that make dan an ottawatian?
