joey one day at a time as you already know
how does she look doug?
halfway
I keep seeing rien (means nothing, in English)
that is what i have been doing. but, knowing what might be coming is putting my stomach in knots
I have 10 words lol
means never in french
in 7
joey, been there, done that...
j'amais is never , in French
Hello everyone. Joey, terrific that you were onto it so fast, hope the outcome is good news
in 8
in6/8/7
sorry I meant jamais no apostrophe
there are multiple ways to say never
Hi Nan, how are the fires?
thanks. jillibus, i remember that - you are my hero
but this isn't french class, so i'll shush
I'm recalling Chanel commercials from long ago... http://tinyurl.com/ler4j4

Fear is the mind-killer, it is the little-death that leads to total obliteration.
fear is human
I'm still stuck on that book, but I thought it applied, Joey

so westie...finally ended up buying that new fridge yesterday...now have all new appliances ...I sure will miss the old (30 years) girl
good for you just
good luck just remember what happened to us?
did you keep the old one?
yes but I kept to the same brand as the other 2 cause they have been great
then you shouldn't have trouble
no not keeping the old one cause the quebec government will give us $110 for buying an energy compliant large appliance and giving up the old energy sucking one!
what style is it
2 door side by side...what I'm used to and what is best for the space that it occupies...bought a whirlpool
good choice
I get Consumer re[ports and a recent issue evaluated fridges -- I think only about 3 of 29 good ones were available in Canada.
and none of the best ones
first time for a side by side for us it's okay
well I'm so used to it but thankfully have a deep freezer too
do Canadians close to the border buy in the US - and vice versa?
no room for big things though.made an angel food cake with pineapple and whipped cream and had to keep it down stairs..which is good because it's a lot of trouble to go down there and get it
we don't lyn, but some do
even thought the total cubic footage is 1 cubic foot less than my old one...the fridge part is much larger and the freezer part smaller cause it has crushed/cubed ice and water dispenser
lynxx, there are problems, like duty, guarntees, etc
we have that too and we really like it
even though it's cheaper in the states lynnx..when you factor in the difference of the dollars (right now 10% less than US) plus shipping costs and whatevers...would cost more
when we lived in Westford it seemed like a good idea to buy in NH because they don't have sales tax but Taxachusetts charges the tax anyway so it's a no win situation
are the fires in BC now under control?
in order to bring back purchases made in the US of 1000$ one must have spent at least 48 hours in the states
Interesting, thanks
we could start a refrigerator smuggling business just
actually a friend of mine who lives right near there babrab...said it's officially NOT under control at all...said it's spreading by 30metres a minute
lol westie...shall I slip one under my TShirt?
probably called, but ri7/7/8
sorry to hear that
I was wrong last night about where cybernan lives -- it is Kelowna, BC, not Calgary, AB
Nasty, there was some 10,000 evacuated a few days ago. How many now?
brb gonna go warm up my leftover ricotta and spinach ravioli in my marinara sauce
jilli is she close?
not sure lynnxx ..she hasn't evacuated but said the whole town is covered in ash as is her home and patio
west, she posted pix as her icon a couple of days ago
I think C'nan is very close
saw on the new tonight, some of the evacuees have returned to their homes
I scrolled down hoping I could catch her icon jilli
west, it's not up today -- just her regular one
last icon of nan's I saw were the beautiful deer in her yard
oh okay
I believe the evacuees returning are warned to be ready to flee again any time
oh my, wouldn't really feel that great about returning, would you
phantom -- erotic
so scary but at least they are leaving
you rang jilli?
lots and lots of phantoms! BBS
don't think we'll be having too many fires in this province this summer
phantom--prevaricates
it may give them time to get organised if they do have to leave
nice one broll!
yes, would do that jilli
how to raise a lurking ruru...
there is a va8 that is somewhat close to that, broll
got it, thx
ohh thx josh...those nasty veins
PB, just!
I was trying to get a vegetable out of that
but I mixed it up
well I didn't spell it plural so it shouldn't count
i was trying to get a french vegetable out of that, for sure
or rather I did
ok, just
that's what I meant josh
aren't we continental
forgive me, I have not eaten since 10pm last evening
why not, just?
cause I never have an appetite anymore jilli :(
why not, just?
I got some free ricotta now I know what to do with it
:( just, have you tried medicinal marijuana? it's perfect for just that
lol josh...I know but not from the medicinal stuff
well you know, best to keep it legal and above board, etc
i am very familiar with it as well
flosey -- news just saying this is the first night of four Celebration of Light fireworks
i think it's because my stomach has shrunk considerably since I broke my foot....was just too damn hard to make/get something to eat...so now I've become accustomed to not eating
well in Canada josh...apparantely you can pull a bernie madoff and not even have an arrest
warrent put out for you
well, ust, keep your health up
so what's a little toke between friends here
that's odd jilli, sil said it's been going on for years, he remembers watching it from the horse barn roof 20 years ago
did you hear about the pool, where was it, ontario? where 3 people went swimming and one of them died and the other two were in the hospital
I mean it's THIS YEAR'S first of four, flosey
no I haven't...recently? marij related?
oh yes, he did mention something like that jilli
sorry, my head isn't quite in order tonight
not marij related at all - just remembered it out of the blue. lemme see if i can find a news story about it
flosey, jilli, what are they celebrating?
just light, I think, west!
not sure west, can't ask sil, he's gone to bed
I think it's an international competition
yes jilli, it is that
the fireworks competitions?
yes just
yes, just
they;'re just finishing that off here...they have it during the jazz fest
it's amazing
it's all set to music which goes in tandem with the fireworks...
sounds beautiful
news saying some of the evacuees' homes were looted by thieves.
can't find the news story right now. strange story
awww that so sucks....sigh...
how horrible, jilli
ditto
but it usually happens
thx for trying anyways josh :)
maybe it'll be in tomorrow's paper
phantom -- lavender
hi guys! how is this grid?
in so many ways I hate the human race for their greed, stupidity, arrogance, and shallowness (speaking generally of course)
brb sounds like someone is pushing a grocery shopping cart down the street
hi pav -- not bad
don't go outside alone westie...
hah I was right I just went to the door and looked
probably some poor homeless soul whatever he had was overflowing and covered with a white cloth
we put the trash out on Mon night
err but it's wed night now westie....
I know and this has never happened before
I locked the door
is that something that you don't usually do? lock the door?
I have a two-story condo..just <1200 sqft and I recived my latest electric bill...$140...up from $115 last month...I reset the thremostat from 82-84 during the hottest week recently and It still runs throughout the night...
I usually keep the screen door locked when I'm down here
I feel for ya pav but we've got that in reverse....for winter
recurring phantom tonight - larval
anyone can just put a fist thru a screen door west....
hi pav they get you coming and going
coes
Sorry - forgot cursor
yep..during the "cooler" months it's in the $50-75 range...the company keeps telling me to reduce my energy usage, when it's their fees going higher that cause the increase...
well too bad it's not a word
we have a very quiet neighborhood just and the houses are close together so I'm not worried
well I understand west but you never know so why take chances..
I have some neighbor kids shooting their firecrackers still, and it upsets the dogs...
pav we have an old gas stove in the basement from the days when it was too hot to cook..the gas is shut off and we just got a whopping big gas bill..cook with electric
40 left. what are the stats on the 9?
yeah - I thought it had possibilities
I better get to bed, not getting anywhere with this grid tonight, too much going on and I'm exhausted
wow josh wtg!
I stupidly said this grid was not bad, so now I'm having a hard time with it
goodnight all, be back in the morning
hmmm. that's odd? gas leak anywhere?
g'night flosey
so my husband called and they said oops makes you wonder how many bills are just sent randomly
night flosey
I haven't statrted yet Jilli...
I hope not lol
yeah those dumb enough to just pay without questioning...sigh
and how many of those random bills people just pay without asking why...
jilli, I left right after flip, just read back, thanks, changed just for you
they count on that and they even have studied to show that it pays them to count on peoples' stupidity
got the 9
it's re8/9, builds off another word in the grid
thanks, flosey
he pays a lot of bills on line but checks them first
jilli what a sight that must have been
I always like reading Jilli's stories that come with the pics...
I don't think I need to reiterate how much I hate re words
I certainly didn't mean you or hubs westie
I need nbt and can not get one n under the lone o
french dark, west
thanks, pav -- nice to know it's not a waste fo time
I know that just but I can see how it would be easy to overpay
black in french west
thanks josh
they fell in love with a particular genre of american film after ww2
nbt!!
wtg west!
wtg west!
sh might have found it sooner if we said it's usually preceded by pino no4
thanks took long enough lol
pinot lol
that's pinot...
oopsies...I thinks it's bed time then...
frustrating language this French, eh? don't prounounce t's or s's sometimes, most of the time..
taberwitt
c'est vraimont
don't go pav stay and have a glass of wine
c'est vrai...vraiment is the adverb, really
i have spent way too much time learning french in a classroom
oops..
merci
it's midnight...witching hour..and ruru appeared!
vraiment, ruru ;)
np ru...just a gentle correction so as to be informed!
ruru is the resident wine man
oh ru's been lurking about for a while pav :)
damn 3am already :( buuurrrppp
something really scary just happened
what west?
a word appeared that I didn't type in
lol ya think dr god was involved?
it was only a 4
well, I haven't begun to input words..
hey who cares? I'll take anything I can get
I had a whole lot of red rectangles
oh jilli..maybe your internet cut out for a minute
didn't think so -- had the message to refresh or contact Dr_G
but all's well now
that's usually what happens if internet cuts out
taking a break with 32 left
well, nm
wtg josh
ooo just got a lovely av 7/8 combo
I got a lovely av6 that I've never seen here before
oh really? I have
well if I start I'd be missing a P for NBT
you could get it pav
only have one...pr5/12 a snoop, yenta if you will
got that nice av6, west, thanks
I was thinking more like a tool
ok I'm diving in..but I do have an earlier day tomorrow...
yw jilli it is lovely isn't it?
wow sure I guess, never thought of that word in that way
wow..my first word a pr7 44
the av7/8 has to do with the business of aircraft
wtg pav!!
well, it contains another word too
oh you bad bad boy pav (bad meaning good) !
was that for me Jilli?
ty jilli had that
no, pav, it was the av6
ty just for the aircraft clue(s)
yw as I still ponder on his couldn't get a p word then gets a 7 :)
well I have since found all but one P...and as Pini knows, I have a fascination for all things P
and it was a monkey...
well one would hope PPPPav
got the aircraft words already had the av 5
Joey's naPPing and Precious is chewing on a Piece of PaPer!
Purrrfect
phantom esoteric
nice
hello all. i'm back
hi granny wb
hi !! how was your trip?
hi Rose, welcome home
well, over halfway and NBT -- and falling asleep so goodnight all!
absolutely incredible.
nite Jilli
hi and bye rose
night jilli
that's so great nothing more relaxing
where have you been granny?
apart from the first day, which had 3-4 metre swells, all was smooth sailing
good night jilli pleasant dreams
nite jilli
just, have been on a pacific cruise, vanuatu, new caledonia.
ooo sounds lovely even though I'm not sure where that is...south pacific I imagine?
i was really chffed to find my french hadn't deserted me. was ale to converse ( very slowly ) with the lcals. we arrived in Noumea in time for bastille day.
we also visited vila , mystery island and lifou
how long was the cruise?
looooved vila. all thatduty-free shopping, and we had 2 daysthere * grin *
westy, 10 nights and 9 days
sounds heavenly
caught up with mrp and andree in sydney, before we left and coing back
so I take it that is your winter getaway to warm climes vacation?
andree posted a picture of the before said you had a really nice time
* groan * this new keyboard is driving me nuts!!!! my spelling isn't really this bad
didn't even notice
we're thinking of a turn around cruise at the end of October 13 days
where to west?
just, you got it in one.july 10 is our wedding anniversary, and every yearwe go away to celerate. next year, hope to catch the train up the centre of australia, hire a car in darwin, drive down the west coast and then fl back.
I'm ready to go right now
NY to Caribbean and fly home from Miami
westy do it, do it!!!
oh that sounds great granny...would love darwin and its tropicality
it's spendy but we're worth it lol
that's sound great too west...
well Oct is kinda off season no?
just, we have had a taste of their weather. noumea is on the same parallel, just heavenly.
not there
mmm love the tropics..
after this non summer anything will do lol
why don't you try for a "last minute" type deal?
have heard the alaskan cruise is really great. will try for that in a few years time. himself is still getting his land legs back
I can soooo commiserate with you there west
yes I know someone who's been several times....they love it
there are 2 other couples going so we should book soon plus we have the rebate from the cruise we didn't go on
oh that sounds great west!
okay my mind is made up !!
didn't believe one could have travel sickness on land, but yesterday was horrible, ended up taking Kwellsand staying in bed the whole day. so sad, too bad* grin *
yay, westy.now the fun starts
poor rose !! hope you'll be better soon
bad water or food perhaps?
westy, firing on all 8 cylinders now. have done 2 loads of washing, collected the canary from over the road.....hm, not much else
no just, headiddy 'cos we are off the ship
headiddy????? head giddy
go lie down lol
apparently the inner ear canal( to do with balance) takes a day or so to realise that the floor isn't moving
yeah r's greyed
that happened to me first cruise we took I kind of liked the feeling
oops actually not :(
r's are sneaky
hey, maybe i've invented a new word headiddy.....means ??????
didn't realize there were 3...but all re's and ro's done
means the feeling of not wanting the cruise to end
gj just !! how many re's?
never been on a cruise...just the ferry from Plattsburgh NY to Burlington VT across Lake Champlain
mmmm........
16 re's
you'd like it just
oh yuck
how's the water pressure for showering west (on cruise ships)
it's fine
actually more for washing shampoos out of this thick coarse hair of mine
many improvements since we first went
to me it's mind boggling...a cruise ship with all the water that's needed for washing and drinking etc etc
wasn't sure how i would be, on a cruise, but day one was the worst, had 50 in sick bay, about another 500 who didn't go to the doc, half the crew were ill, and 3 of them had to be flown off the ship.
they just get it right out of the sea it's freezing cold and salty
just kidding lol
wow gran
oh no rose did you think quarantine??
sorry, that was 500 in sick bay
speaking of cruises one might love to take a cruise on the ri7/40
sick bay is that big??? sheesh
I'll vote yes on that
nah, knew it was motion sickness, took ginger tabs, kwells and put on the acupressure straps, all helped
have no clue of what any of that is lol
never had a problem and I used to get car sick all the time
well ginger tabs's I can guess at but the other's...nada
fortunately i wasn't nauseated, just giddy.
giddy's good....fun stuff
kwells are an over the counter med for motion sickness, the straps, they are wrist straps of velcro with a pressure dot in them. work re3ally well
wrist straps...sounds kinky!
not hand cuffs just lol
not the ones with a padlock just lol
lol
snap westy
snap
bbl, himself is going to down load my camera and his. and snap again
rose were you back on dry land before the earth quake hit NZ ?
just did you get pav's p7?
oh my where have I been? haven't heard of EQ in NZ?
7.8 or something like that off the south coast
when?
and a tsunami warning for Australia
a few days ago
maybe longer
westy, that happened our first day out, which is why we had such big waves
it didn't get much coverage
yikes!!
oh wow...I must have been sleeping that day...sometimes I can't sleep for 24 to 36 hours or so...so when I finally can sleep I just do no matter what time of the day it is :(
yikes?
yikes to rose's comment
ohh yes I see...maybe I should go...can't even follow slow chat
my concept of time has gone out the window too guess it was more than a few days ago
ok phew...now...all r's are done..all 44 of them
sorry, last day out.
that's a little closer then lol
oh so has mine and way more than a few days ago too west...sigh
giggle, what can i say? i'm just headiddy!
lol
I hope you post some of the pix rose
westy, himself is going to help me open a facebook account, so they will be there, will keep you posted
oh good I am on FB now
ohh speaking of facebook westie...finally found my way there the other day...(hadn't been there in many moons) and accepted your offer gladly :)

bye granny
I am not a golden girl I'm a silver girl!
lol bab I'm the before
* poof *
pav good job !!
and I'm the after (not)
* poof* 2 !
clue for the pr7 before you go??
too late
you are more closer (secrets) than just knowing
pr 6 - prefix for before and what Watts is notorious for
thanks bab first thought was electricity
Watts? lol is that an american icon thingy that I wouldn't know about?

phantom: muliebrity - Womanhood, the state of being an adult woman. 2. Womanliness, femininity, the qualities generally associated with women, as opposed to virility.
ok now I'm off...good night!
so dumb got all the pr's except the 2nd pr5 ..now how can that be?
but but there's no M in the grid bab (wink)
good night for real pav be cool
or a B nor a Y
I don't care for that word makes me sound stubborn
my phantoms perhaps are more accurately delusions
lol that's ok bab...delusions i can identify with
Francis
well I have 69 left...perhaps an interesting amount (number) to make my exit...stage left
bye just happy we were here together
going out tomorrow to get what I need for your ribs
muliebrity -- Word History: No matter how obstinate your wife or girl-friend may be, guys, this word has nothing to do with mules or muliness. Don't even think about going there. Muliebrity was borrowed from Latin Latin muliebritas "womanhood, womanliness", a noun based on mulier "woman"
yes so am I westie...tc by bab
oh nice...I just bought another 4 full racks again too and you should make that marinara sauce...I know you will love it
be well, Just
too late bab I have decided Francis was a muliebrity
evening all :)
hi mrp you just missed rose
hi and bye mrP
the marinara sauce is not for the ribs...for pasta and the like...
I plan to just he loves anything made with that
I did?? oh darn
but make sure that you let the garlic and onions kinda stew for a least 1/2 hour before adding the other ingrdients and make sure the white wine is the last ingredient added
she left to download pix said she's joining FB and will post them there
oh that is good news!
will do just don't usually make sauces and such in summer but since summer decided not to get here this year it will be the perfect time
does it freeze well?
yes it does
perfect
but it's the perfect summer sauce to make...meatless pasta dish with lovely salad and glass of wine...
crusty bread garlic or otherwise
I'm thinking of freezing it for when the kids are home at Christmas
now you're making me hungry
speaking of kids when are they moving in?
well if you make it soon...I'll bet you will have it many times over well before Christmas
it's so not a major deal to make like a meat spaghetti sauce
I go on cooking sprees which is why I like having a freezer
for sure but if kept in freezer too long will lose flavour
we'll have to test and retest it lol
well I've been making it for more than 20 years and I have perfected it over that time so if you follow the instructions you will benefit from my trials
it's just a matter of adding your own amounts of spices herbs and chillis to your taste
okay really really going now tc all poof*
I may have to make him his own batch I'm not much for spicy
bye just

The start of a song 'Red red wine' which, for the life of me, I can't remember a single other lyric.
okay it worked tried using the letters twice time for bed
G'd Morning Babblers! Looks like another weird letters-ish grid.
Good morning Lori.
I sort of remember that song too and can't get any farther with it either
hello lori
Yes, it's the result of a campaign by the lesser-used letters to have their day(s) of glory.
"go to my head"
morning Lori
Thank you lynxxx! First line down for the karaoke.
I'd have sworn That with time Thoughts of you Would leave my head I was wrong And I find Just one thing Makes me forget
Fortunately, the lesser used letters have a weak lobby.
Now confess, BR, did you know them or did you google it?
Morning all Ah that UB40 classic, Red, red wine Go to my head Make me forget that i Still need her so
I google most everything
hi FM
Let's just hope the lesser used letters don't kidnap the vowels and hold them to ransom.
is it too early for beaujolais?
Morning FM! ***heads up, incoming.... whoosh***
Could you imagine the negotiations Haz? It'd be impressive.
hello FM here's a towel
Good shot Lori but why did you drown Haz? Hi lynxxx, west, BR et al.
I'm glad to hear it, Babble. It's an immense resource and makes us look clever.
Good morning FM. You knew the words to red, red wine off the top of your head?
At least he admits it! So many deny Google even exists....
I loved UB40
only the first verse, can't remember the rest, one of my all time faves.
I couldn't have told you who sang it.
Think I still have the LP ;)
neil diamond
Yes, I can hear his version in my head as well. I must see somebody about my head sometime.
Oh I didn't know that BR, only know the UB40 version.
It's probably been covered by loads of people. Not the Osmonds, for obvious reasons.
it is too bad there is not a defragmentation application for the brain
It sounds painful, Babble.
lol Haz, red, red, grape juice would have the same ring to it.
Saying an early goodnite, someone woke me up too early this morning (3.30am) and then wouldn't go out cause it was drizzling. Mongrel! Off to bed with me. Bye

Good night lynxxx, sleep well.

be well, lyn
Sleep tight Lynx!
Bye lynxxx!
good night lyn tc
There's 20 v words? Gah
If FM is on the c words, it means she's approaching the finish line.
Yes, v successfully lobbied for a starring role today.
FM goes backwards?
***hands FM an energy drink for final sprint***

I do indeed west, at least for the first run through.
She does, west. She's odd but we love her nonetheless.
yes we do
We've tried to teach her the right way to Babble, but to date it bears no fruit.
awe thanks :)
hi everyone
I know. She's set in her ways, but she takes the blame for most things so we just let her carry on.
Hi Andree
Hello Andree.
G'd Morning Andree
Hi Andree
hi andree
Time for coffee I think back in a sec.
the sky is getting pink means the painter will be here later on so I need to get to bed but first...
may I have the stats for the 9?
If she thinks we're fooled by that coffee routine.... the god of love is in the grid again today, that will explain most of FM's coffee and 'work' breaks.
re 9/72
thanks bab
it is a plural
re + add the ceremony for players admitted into a hall of fame: ******ion; pl
of for heavens sake I had the er5/10 but had totally overlooked the god of love.
Poor god of love. Sitting there, in full view, being ignored. He'll start humming 'Red red wine' soon.
ty for both FM
ha ha and when haz has to leave for the phone or the housework we all know she is off to check under the stairs
I can see the ceremony I can see the players I can't see the word but thank you bab
Why Andree, you are particularly wise to me!
LOL Andre
:) @ Andree
re8 - start with what steers or controls a horse (4) end with what controls tears or used as tape in any and all situations (4)
I don't want any clues or letter stats but can someone tell me if the p words are straightforward please.
And then plural for re9.
thank you and I had both words too
Fairly straightforward, FM.
I didn't realize they were back there again lol
ONe p word was implicated in BSE/scrapie
ah as soon as I asked I found 2, thanks.
Then why do I only have 1 p Hazaurus, 'splain that!
I appreciate all the help
Because, Lori, you haven't been looking hard enough. Focus. Focus. Focus.
I hate it when the answer involves self discipline.
(It's called tough love)
thx for the 9
i am focusing but have no p's
It's a nice 9 because it can be broken down into so many other words.
***close 'yer eyes FM*** I have 2 pr 5's and that's it. Close enough I say!
We'll not mention the p7 words in that case.
teehee I have a grey P
Poor Lori, Left sprawling in FM's dust.
Hair dye! Then it won't be grey any more.
***I begrudgingly defer to FM's brilliance***
perhaps I should douse her to wash off the dust, what do you think?
She might end up a sticky, muddy mess.
Do it.
***choking on FM's dust***
**torrential splooshing**
As if Lori isn't used to choking on dust.
***Holy sploosh-osity Batman! Take 'er easy by'***
Okay, 3 p's but that's my final offer. (Mercy Buckets Haz)
One more p7 to go. One yields 32, the other 44 points.
ground to a halt now at the ubiquitous wall.
All that splooshing has drained you.
It was a tad energetic.
44 it is. Thanks again Haz.
Well done, Lori!
Okay, that's a stoopid word, and I am unanimous in that.
***and Lori comes in last, finishing the p a full 8 minutes behind FM***
not even morewords is helping me with any p7's
going to the list for inspiration.
Andree - pr7/32 - before the street disturbance
Aren't we inspiring enough for you FM?
pr -- the burning and looting festivities before the real thing
pr7/44 - being closer to hearing secrets than another or pr plus being less like holly (at Christmas) than another green plant associated with it
of course Lori but I need a kick start and I don't mean your foot!
At least I did the l. ***sigh***
got the g too Lori?
thx guys
Glad you got them, Andree.
Going to take a quick break. (translation, I hear noises from under the stairs)
TTFN Haz.

See you later!

i am going to get some dinner, back later
Bon apetite Andree

Sorry, was away. Yes FM, g was my first word. :) Hurry back Haz! Enjoy 'yer din din Andree.
oh lovely going to a bridal shower on Sat has a luau theme and the weather forecast is 80 and sunny
we've had so much rain lately will be a nice change
what fun!
We've had relentless rain as well west. A handful of days with sun. Not much of a summer so far.
I'm sure the hostess will be pleased
wonder if I should start making a grass skirt?
Go for it west. Beats weaving baskets... :p
It has been raining here all morning (again) :(
we do have lots of green green grass
Thankgoodness for lickety, had missed splitting some of the big words down so stupid!
have you finished?
finally yes!
Yay FM !!
Nicely done. ***Congratulatory water cannon salute aimed at FM***
and just as the sun is breaking through the rain clouds. Think I will take a brak and run some errands before the next deluge.
Argh, too late she got me :)
I think we need a babble ark
Thankyou ladies, and I shall love and leave you now. LOL west. Happy babbling.
Where are you going young lady? Get back here....
bye FM happy errands
I'm off too bye for now
But but I just need to go to the Post office and get some petrol and the local papers ... please can I go now the sun is out, pulease!
Bye westie!
lolol, sure sure. I don't mind you leaving me. No guilt. ***sniffle***
Enjoy the sun. I'll havta' Google it to refresh my memory.....
((Lori)) TTFN *poof*
***sunny hugs***
This grid is killin' my Babble self esteem.....
Keep going, Lori!
I'll be back properly in five minutes to carry on the search for my own words.
The words are most definitely not jumping out at me this morn, and wb Haz.
morning all
And back. It's a tease words out of hiding rather than a capturing of them in the net as they leap out at you kind of grid.
Good morning Wolvie.
Mornin' Wolvie, official wb Hazaurus
ooh boy - I can see this is going to be a good one today
Trying to make out if that's written in tongue in cheek font.
Yah, good. That's the word. No. Really.
yep ;-)
I guess I just have to be st 5/12 about it. (at least I have found an s word)
It's a start, Wolvie, it's a start.
heh heh
just to make matters worse - how many re's are there?
I haven't looked at the list yet. But I do have a few, including the biggest words.
16
This grid will re7/40 some work on the part of the babbler who attempts it.
okay- thanks babble and haz
yeah - I have that one and some other big ones, my problems are almost always the small words - go figure. :-)
***stomps back in declaring.... "I offishully hate this grid"***
Pouting and stamping feet gets you nowhere, Lori. Deep breaths, positive attitude and focus!
Anyway, you think you have problems? I'm currently fighting with a printer who's sulking because I switched it off by mistake. It refuses to believe that it still exists.
big problem there haz - ;-)
re + Schubert's *** Maria; extend for the re 6
I think we're getting there. It may re7/40 some stern warnings to make it sit up and take notice.
oohhhh, just found the 9 -- morning, all!

Has anybody ever got good results from kicking a printer?
ooohhhh, thanks :-)
the best ones haz
I have, since it resulted in the purchase of a new printer, secure in its existance.
you could also try thumping and slapping
better results from dropping it out a window.... and finding a new one
morning, kje! still broiling in TX?
hi kje
Mornin' kje
Thanks, I knew I'd get technical support of the expert kind here.
it is july, une
got the g! that's a good one for me;-)
you can count on it haz
We aim to please Haz.
kje, weird weather -- this week we broke the record for low night-time temps in July -- all the way back to President Hayes!

thanks, I found it, right after I asked for it

Back from my foray into the outside world.
abbr for a canonized female and a jarhead: m*****
Hello FM.
hi fm
ty babble
Hi Haz, taken care of GC? ;)
Hello Wolvie
ha ha and it has just started raining again, now that was good timing!
Yes. I'd trade him for a printer shrink. My printer is refusing to play ball.
oh whats up with it or should I say what is it not doing?
It's just ignoring me. I allowed it to run out of paper, switched it off by mistake and now it's sulking.
Any minute now I may just have to resort to reading the manual.
no no - never that!
But that'll only happen when I've explored every other av6/30.
HAve you tried clearing the print job, turning it off and back on with paper in it?
kick it haz
lol MrP
It's refusing to clear one of the print jobs. Kicking is on my list, mrp, the others have said that it yields good results.
I like simple solutions
hi MrP
ah the hung print job will be the problem then
hi wolvie, FM, haz et al :)
So, is kicking the best solution for an unaborted printing?
there is a....well, dangling thought there fm
switch the stupid thing off at the power point, stare at it with the look of death, turn it back on and I promise it will behave.
not really Haz but you might feel better afterwards
I am just selling my reputation for kicking printers and making them work!
I'm going to give it the silent treatment for a while longer. Then I'll spring into action once it's nicely lulled into a false sense of security.
better than a dangling participle Wolvie :)
true fm, true
too right Haz, it isn't fun if it sees the punishment coming
I am just looking for distraction - 1/2 way thru this grid and it is getting worse
Absolutely, mrp.
It is not the easiest of grids considering its size.
Lori's gone awfully quiet.
i may have to resort to the list soon
good morning everyone:)
hi crosshair
Good morning cross.
**kisses** crossy!!!
Morning crossy ((()))
:)))))
clue for the singleton o please? I like fish, so all is well. ;-)
Perhaps she snuck off to do some housework whilst we weren't around?
One who possesses.
oh man - fish for me - ty haz
I'm here 2 mins... and already I see my phantom... lavender!
On a scale of 1 to 10 of possible reasons for Lori saying nothing, I rate sneaking off to do housework at minus 5.
You're welcome, Wolvie.
Oh fish, thanks for the reminder, must just go and put the salmon in the micro.
LOL Haz
hi mom2
Hi all!
lol true but I thought it might make her appear.
;-) haz
salmon... hmmmm
It probably will, spluttering in indignation at the very suggestion.
I need to do my fish diet again. Will start it tomorrow! Thanks for the reminder FM
yw MrP
I am missing one p - i have the digger, the atomic particle, and the one who knows more per se - what am I missing?
The time before the street disturbance
ahhh - ty haz
You're welcome.
can you clue the digger for the p? It is the one Iam missing.
just like before, with a different vowel
ah jeez... thanks wolvie.
I know - plenty of fish for all of us today. ;-)
help on re6,27, please?
the one who re5/16s
re6/27 - re plus a word meaning to state or declare
never mind.
I am missing 2 of the u's. I have the 4 letter to take apart, and the one who does that - what am i not seeing?
one of a kind and more so
ahhh - ty again babble
Good Mornng Fellow Babblers. I'm not starting this grid (which looks like a fun one!) as I have a LONG full day planned; but I have a question for you.
hi nef
Hi Nef
Hello Nef.
thanks BR
hi inge
squeg
scund
Are any of you on facebook? If so, is there a place where Babble names are listed with people's reall names?
It must be a long question Nef has for us ....
oh no. going back to othre window
not on FB Nef, sorry can't help.
i have a facebook page - haven't gone there in ages tho -never thought to look for babblers
theres a babble fan page
No, FM, it's just than I'm still half asleep. :-)
hmm - ty marilyn
If I remember correctly there is a Babblers worldwide group somwhere in there.
there are several babble pages there (never thought to look for a fan page though)
dont you see real names on those pages?
I'm not on facebook, but I think people use their real names rather than babble names, and if you don't know someone's real name, it's confusing.
On FB people probably don't put in their babble screen name
The reason I'm asking is I keep getting reminders of people who have a list of Babble friends, but I can't figure out if I know the people or not. They are real names and faces; I just don't know their Babble names
Did you sign up to be a fan on one of the babble pages on FB? If so, that is why you are getting reminders.
It is "suggesting" for you, as it does with friends of friends, etc...
(Gosh, I'm so tired I don't think I'm making sense ; even to myself!0
You're making more sense than my printer.
I know it's suggesting friends, mom; I'm just trying to figure out who I do and don't know from here. I know a number of people here that I see everyday and I have a lot of them friended; but if I never see anyone here, I don't necessarily want to "friend" them
Haz what make and model is it?
Haz, my printer messes up quite often. I shut it down, then check my computer and it always seems that *somehow* my computer has unselected the right printer and plugged a different printer name or number in.
It's an HPDeskjet - it just seems to object to being turned off.
(I think the computer and printer are in cahoots together to frustrate me)
And yes, I've checked that the computer and the printer should be talking to each other. The computer is making overtures, the printer's playing hard to get.
Check and see if the model number is right. That's what our HP printer (and my current Kodak printer) change when they quit
Once I get this grid done I'll set to work.
One frustration at a time!
LOL
;-0
Nef - If you happen to have Ata on facebook, she had people contribute to a wall post of hers a few weeks ago and that created a rather comprehensive list of some babblers with babble names to real names. One of the babble pages (babblers worldwide?) also has a list on the wall and in a discussion.
Uni!!!!
hi uni
We have 4 computers and 3 printers here at home. (That's pretty bad, isn't it?) My Mac won't talk to the Epson printer. DH's generic PC (special-built for him) won't talk to the HP OR the Kodak printer; Dtr's HP laptop PC won't talk to either the the Epson or the Kodak; and the Toshiba laptop PC talks to everything (but is slower than molasses)
'Tis me.
Lovely to see you :)
Am I a relief from scores of excel sheets? :)
Hello Uni!
I am done with them and the project has been handed back to a very happy client!
sigh..crossy hates file conversion;/
Hi Uni! The problem I have is I don't know WHO I now have on my friends list! I have several I do know; but I don't remember the reat.
LOL Nef what a melange of computer stuff!
you've been doing that for days now crossy!
Hi everyone, Afternoon!
Hoorah! We love happy clients! I have the red menace from my slow internet connection, it is hard to keep up.
Afternoon red
this is for you nef..hope it prints ok...
{{Uni}}}----I am now on Babble Expert. Thanks to your instructions. My daughter installed BE for me. I find it an extemely handy tool. Thanks again.
Well, our son is a computer geek who *helps* us
If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort, and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort. Then the socket packet pocket has an error to report. If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash, and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash; and your data is corrupted cuz the index doesn't hash, then the situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash. If the label on the cable at your house, says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, but your packets want to tunnel to another protocol, that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall, and your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss, so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse; then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang, cuz sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang ! When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy in the disc and the microcode instructions cause unnecessary risk, then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM. Quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your Mom!
sorry for length
help! I am missing one r - an re 6/18 - any and all fish welcome
Thats great corssy!
I'm impressed that someone could be frustrated with computers and still have the wit to compose poetry.
Oh Annie, that is thrilling! I have a feeling your daughter did not require quite so complete instructions, but I am so happy that you enjoy it! **hugs**
re6/18 - got up again in the manner of a flower?
ty haz;)
*waves at Annie from beyond the poem*
hi annie
Good morning Annie!
Uni, yes, I must admit it was thrilling to see BE on Babble.
don't see bloom on the grid haz. ;-) (seriously, I am blind today)
ty tho
love the poem, crossy! :-)
oh man - got it - salmon here
What links a word for got up with a flower?
Hi Haz, FM, wolvie, crossy, red, nef
I have an re8/55.help with 9 and other 8's pls
No problem Wolvie.
I have an re8/55.help with 9 and other 8's pls
I need more coffee - or brains, maybe. lol
hey Wolvie, leave my salmon alone!
i ar*** from bed would be getting up with a flower;0
Hi Annie , peri, and all others
howdy annie;)))
no way fm - well, maybe I will do halibut -lol
Ah peri is back to being periwinkle again :)
*Waving rather than naming names*
so
Okay, time I was tackling this printer. I have several resorts, including reading the manual, fixing it with a glare, using physical violence and just switching it off. One way or another this thing is going to listen to me! Back later...
waving back.
today is fluffy 3 egg omelettes with mushrooms and 4 kinds of cheese, common over everyone!:)
Restarting is a good option, Haz. Bonne chance!
Bye Haz and good luck!
hi red
bye haz - ty for your help
mmmmm food
Use the glare, Haz, bye
I amon my way cross. I think Iran off myenglish muffin...
haz, make sure you remove all current printer software and do a clean install with the disk that came with it
Thanks cross. Off I go!
i find if you have 6 drivers from 8 old printers in there,it can gum up the works
Good morning/day to all. I was able to sleep in an extra 2 hrs today--I start work about 3 hrs.
crossy, I think that that is why our computers randomly switch printers on us. That's probably why we have to re-select printers each time
Good morning, Scrabbs
hi scrabs
More rain here today--July has been mostly rain.
and a new thing ive learned.with most new computers they have many usb ports as this is the fasion of the day(mine has 4 in front and 4 in back) a computer is biased when it comes to sending power to all theese ports and will give a steadier more regulated power flow to the ones in the rear near the power supply
is the 9 a compound word?
im sure it is the reason nef
Interesting, Crossy
peri - it is a plural of an re 8 -the action of reinitiating, say
so if you are using a portable ubb storage drive you are best to use a rear port;))
no peri it is a pl of the re8/55
or - re4, plus du 4, then plural
There must be dozens of re words--look at all of the possibilities, ugh
16, i think - i have them all and my brain is fried
Hi Scrabs!
ok, will look
Hello FM!
scrabbs!
Hi Scrabbs.
re + du cannot work, can it?
only 3 of the re are the to do again type which is most unusual.
FM, I have our 50th birthday party all set. I am renting a lakefront home 2 hrs from here, 4 bedrooms, etc. Come on over.
Hi Cwossy
FM, from Sept 9-13.
not seeing it :(
re plus in 6 - which is re 4 plus du 4
Oh that souds great Scrabs, I'll start making arrangements (I wish)!!!
re plus in du4
then plural
no mom, it doesn't
I wish too as I know it will be difficult for you to be here.
hey Wolvie stop giving so many letters away!!
fm - i just had too.;-)
ok... got it now... re + in + du4.... LOL... need more coffee.
bad bad Wovie
yes, I am
Nice, generous Wolvie
lol that was leading by the nose indeed
I want to see a pic of our bithday cake Scrabs. I have no plans for mine as yet.
frustrated is more like it scrabs.lol
that clue almost was the entire word, mom
I haven't thought of a cake yet, other than chocolate + chocolate
if both fm and scrabbs are going to a blowout 50th b-day party, crossy wants good pics
mmmmmmmm
sorry.
Uni wants to join said party. I'll provide the entertainment.
mom, you were very generous...LOL
I will post pics
Good morning Uni
for what mom? I am already buried in fish. ;-)
ill bring the bacon vodka:)
If I sell my place in time I shall do a 50th world wide babble tour (no harm in dreaming) :)
LOL, Crossy
Oh yes, corrsy can bring all the bacon acoutriments
Dream away, FM. Fantasy keeps people going.
Ugh. I'll bring the wine. Some nice Jost from Nova Scotia.
just the bacon vodka and the bacon body oils
You should make a big giant chocolate grid and make people find the words on your cake, LOL.
*crossy even
Hope you all have a great day; Happy Babbling everyone (gotta go to work soon).
bye nef

ing scrab for the ge
phantom = lavender
Scrabs the g is a popular ending we often have in the grid
lol scrabbs,we can get everyone tipsy on my bacon vodka, then you can bring out your little black bag and go a lipid test on everyone;0
Wolvie, I had to read your clue 4 times before I got it. Caffeine infusion is early.
Speaking of bacon... I have been slipping my daughter turkey bacon, unbeknownst to her, LOL.
Crossy, our nurse practitioner's bro, age 42, was just diagnosed with testicular cancer--awaiting biopsy results.
used babbles clue this time - last time i gave the def in wordy format, lol
Good for you, mom
here you go fm... http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/post/1004 80546/the-bacone-a-bacon-cone-filled-w ith-scrambled
It's no good, all this talk of food I must go and get some lunch. TTFN
Bye FM
Oh thanks crossy will have a look.
what stage scrabbs?
bye fm
She loves bacon and in the summer is famished after swim practice, so I figured I had nothing to lose... she has not even noticed.
bye fm
and 42 is on the late end of the curve for seminoma indeed
Not good--in abdomen, blocking a kidney, needs stent in kidney.
:( sounds stage 4
sorry to hear that scrabbs
so sorry to hear that, scrabbs
terrible scrabbs
Yes, and he is schizophrenic, cognitively impaired
mine was stage 3 and just about to spit ,so i got off lucky
yikes... poor thing
You are VERY fortunate, Crossy
oh man - even worse scrabs
Poor Elena is heartbroken. Their parents both died of cancer within the last several years and now her brother.
My father in law had prostate that went undiagnosed and, well... let's just say it was not good.
well, pass along my best wishes scrabbs, they can do wondrfull things with chemo and radiation, and this type usually responds well to chemo..as long as it hasnt travelled too much;((
His diagnosis was delayed due to his psych issues, I am sure
These days you just never know...
Yep, pray for Billy
Unfortunately the cognitive impairment probably played a part.
but once its in the kidneys...;(((
Let's face it... you are your best advocate and if you cannot advocate... well
Yes, he has had occ abd pain and vomiting for 5 mo
will hope for the best possible outcome scrabbs
did it get to the marrow?
Scrabbs, I will pray for Billy
cause thats the next path as i rememeber?
Just such a terrible thing.
--awaiting brain and lung scan results
i will send my prayers and hope for the best scrabbs
TY so much for listening and for prayers
in the princess margerett lodge i met people....they break your heart..sigh..
Anytime!
Seeing sick children is the worst for me... my daughter goes to school with a child who has lukemia, amongst other things.
Pediatric oncology is the ultimate heartbreaker in far too many cases, but there are many survivors!
imn the bigger scheme of cancer,my 3 bouts are nothing..NOTHING..and make me look like a puling child..this reminds me of a georgeous lady of 25 i met there with brain cancer..so strong and brave;/
God Bless these kids though... they are so kind and generous to her. And I think that she has taught them some valuable lessons as well... right now she is doing ok....
Yes, people with cancer teach us about strength, perseverance, hope, faith....and you are one of those, Crossy!
Oooh, excited,I grayed the middles tile whooo hoooo!!!!
Go Red go!
They all took turns going to the hospital and reading to her while she was having chemo... I was so proud of them. She had just moved to town, so no one really knew her, but they just all up and did this thing for a kid they did not even know... Now, of course, they love her, as she is a very lovable child!
good on you red
:-)
man, if that lower O were an A, we could have prevaricate(s)
lie i say,i am nothing,as long as a bit of what i have learned can help one person, that is all i want
Good for all of them, mom
OK... now I am going to cry... I usually wait until at least 4 pm while watching Oprah!
well enough of that or ill start holding forth;))
Hi Hurshy
Yes Scrabb... they are a good bunch!
whew -c's gone
hi hursh
wow wolvie... you have been hard at work, LOL.
mom, what wonderful children
It is worth getting te**y over, mom2
hi, i'm going to bury myself in the grid but just wanted to point out the almost.
Strength in their numbers. My daughter's whole group of friends are all very nice kids and they each have their individual strengths, but together I swear they can do anything. So supportive of each other, as well.
great lessons for kids
Of course they can all be a pain in the patootie, as well... but that's what 13 is for, LOL!
That would have been a great word, Hurshy
I think what impressed me most was that THEY thought of it and THEY planned it and carried it out.
OK... I have to go and do some housework... bbl.. good luck with Billy scrabbs....everyone else keep hanging in!
Compassion + altruism are wonderful virtues and for kids to have those values is impressive
hooray for them, mom
Bye mom2
bye mom
BRB--must bring garbage bin out to end of driveway
later, scrabbs
I am back, all wet from the rain
no rain here, i am sorry to say
yaa! i get rid of a bunch of old furniture today!!! you know how hard it is to get rid of furniture here?? gonna cost me about 50 dollars for whatever i can get in a pick-up,but will be worth every penny!
stumped by the al 6. Clue please.
Guten Morgen, Inge. Wie geht es heute?
al plus grape holder, per se
al + what roses grow on, inge
TY for that clue
sunshine and water
Hi BR!
hi again babble
thanks, Wolvie and Annie. Guten Morgen, all ye Babblers. Es geht mir gut, Scrab. Did you like those cartoons?
Hello, Annie
yaa! 2 old box springs and old dresser, your outta here! whee!
1970,endtables..outta here!
howdy inge1:)
*ducks furniture* Good morning, all!
hi inge1 and judi
Hi judi
good going crossy
what else can i fit in there..old coffe table..outta here!!
phantom: boustrophedonic
lol it better be a pahntom br;0
since there is no b in the grid lol
did you replace the end tables with beginning tables?
but the rest works lol
sure - that's a phantom I would have lol
Great one BR...
should never go half way on phantoms
*waiting for an old-fashioned type lamp to come flying by*
indeed i have a box form ikea with beginning tables..in 1000 easy to assemble pieces
Hello, H
true babble
God Bless Ikea. I love that place.
Nice image BR.
And not just for the swedish meatballs and the ball crawl.
thanks
lest see the side of the box..mmm..all i need is a slotted screwdriver..mm and a table saw,and a router,and a nail gun,and a log planer,and some glue,and some wood putty,and a chain saw...sigh
Sounds like a manly project, Crossy.
mm if i get 2 milk crates i can use the box all this crap comes in as a coffee table;)
I was checking e-mail and my computer is slow this morning. yes, Inge, I liked the cartoons
Hi BR + Judi
but why would you want to? after all you had to pay $50 to toss the old stuff .. only to start all over again?
good morning babble friends!
Heya, Scrabbs!
Hello, Scrabbler
Heya, Trif!
next trip this old couch and loveseat are gone,to be replacesd by a nice futon and a glider rocker;)
hi trif
I am enamored with this grid so far. I particularly like the qu 6/27 and sq 6.27 pairing.
Hello, Trifioso .. .
will you need a ladder to get onto the futon?
all this old bulky heavy 60,s and 70 furniture..im getting tired of everyone braking a rib just by walking into the coffe table;é
Ikea stuff is NOT that hard to assemble crossy!
Amen, Crossy. I am counting the days until we can throw out our hand-me-down 70's matching love seats and side chair. I have a nice sectional picked out. Money being the only obstacle.
mm typos, and my question mark seems to be going in hiatus
GM Trif--how are you doing?
just fine, scrabbler, other than laziness!
well folks, I have 53 left and have to go for awhile - do** to s, t, and v's. whew
well, done, Wolvie
300 bucks for the nice futon with wood side rails,150 for glider rocker and ottoman,100 for coffee and 2 end tables,120 for one of those skinny tabvles that go behind couches and futons, and same for one in ahllway,30 dollars for skinny hallway mirror and thats about it;..no 40 for hallway night lamop
BR, your first quote today is really, really good, and totally speaks to me right now. Thank you for being so interesting!
yw
All from Ikea, Crossy? I have thought about driving into Canada--I think Hamilton--to the Ikea st5.
hi all
hi jmc!!!
I hate grids with qu
hello everyone, how is the grid today
Crossy, did similar damage to the budget with Primo last Thursday....but his room does look great!
you about done being rowdy, jmc?
no,some are from zellers,others from re-use stores
crossy maybe you will be lucky like I was the last time I went to the dump
I wish I am tired of the food etc here but I am here until Sat.
ill be keeping my eyes peeled jm
Can't be considered damage at those prices! More like... theft!
did I tell you about the $$$$ wok I found?
a money wok?
but tomorrow is the State Holiday Pioneer Days so that should be interesting
Ooooh! I keep bugging hubby to go to the Dump with me. He just looks at me cross-eyed - like I'm asking him to jump into a pit of flames.
Hi JM
an expensive and undamaged (but slight covered with cement) wok
afternoon everyone!!!!
OMG jmc, that does sound promising! I hope it is as good as the play in Waiting for Guffman
hello movie man!
Hiya, MM!
I like going to the dump it is usually a two-fer I get rid of stuff I don't need and if I am lucky find something I do
the wok cleaned up real pretty
hi mm
Are you talking about a garbage dump, or the st5 named "The Dump"?
so, i've finally managed to see Harry Potter
What did you think, Movieman?
help with the O singleton for nbt before I go off to be rowdy with the Baptists
OH, I am going at 4:30 today, MM, so do tell - was it well done?
the town dump judi
LOL! NOT what I was referring to , jmc.
im on the hunt for a nice old, beat up steamer trunk, then ill line it with aromatic ceader for a blanket box
jmc, one who possesses
Pretty good actually, although not having read the books, I can't make a comparison
geesh, crossy, I have 3 up in my attic you could have....
a fish for sure and I already got rid of my whale to eat it
LOL jmc!
sorry judi I was (am) confused
oh I see it was a clue me culpa
ty annie
So was I, jmc! I would not go to our town/city/state dump. The rats and sea gulls don't allow humans.
youre welcome
it is an exciting place to go and there is too much heavy equipment out during the dumping hours for the rats to dare come out!
Ha! The rats run the heavy equipment here.
the guys there always look at me like what the F^*&(! and then usually run over and help me off load my truck! lol
we get not rats,just gulls
I don't like gulls myself -- but for some reason they aren't at DC's dump
Hi MM
They're probably just making sure you're not dumping a body.
lol
Haha, judi
good morning Babblers :)
you are confusing DC with NJ
hi nono
LOL judi
jmc, I am with you on the gulls. flying rats
We have no problem off loading furniture. We live in a college town. The frat boys come scrounging every fall.
Hi Nono
back again after a nice lunch - hubby took me out Any clues for the re6/18 after the word to rip apart
the darm grid does not take sc6 30 +ner:(
geesh ---> how do you spell the word for the guys at the temples who have had their testicles removed?
I belong to freecycle here and wasn't able to get anyone to take 4 perfectly good file cabinets
the flash key is making those old cabinets obsolete jm:((
I think it's eunuch, Trif.
guess enable isn't up on temples trif
i can fit a years paperwork on a single 10 dollar flash key;))
re + ****n the eskimo in manfred mann's mighty ****n
I'd have to spend hours scanning it in -- this is all old paper
LOVE freecycle jmc! Primos and I picked up a HUGE mirror this past weekend that someone with loads of dosh got rid of. Seriously it is maybe 40" x 96" I am going to cut it into pieces to make smaller mirrors for each kid's room.
;( once you do get caught up,its the only way to go;)
trif that wor is not in the grid eunuch
I got to gaming chairs for my neighbors boys from freecycle
That's awesome, Trif! *note to self to scrounge in rich neighborhoods*
thanks for the eunuch help everyone....
I just wish my luddite counselor would us the computer filing system for his stuff
May you never find a eunuch when searching for a good man.
not that one i got that one - sorry after all the re plus that first letter of """"
now there is a sentence you don't see every day -- lol Trif
our stores are called re-use centres and are also used to train those less fortunate the skills to re enter the workforce;) its a win-win
well, it was listed on freecycle, judi, not just sitting there, but yes, trash days and yard sales in rich neighborhoods are often very, very good sources. And I am not above a good old fashioned dumpster dive, myself
I admit I have very few pieces of furniture that I was the original owner
we have freecycle here as well - we got an old mac - that is good for photos etc
lol untill today i had none;)
Me too, jmc. Although, I like to tell myself they're antiques!
A kind relative in Ireland sent me some photos of the 80th birthday party for my MIL yesterday. It was so nice to see all the little nieces and nephews, and to see Secondo looking so happy in her amazing dress. I am so glad the kids seem to be having a good time!
I gave away my old sofa bed to a woman and her children who were starting out after being homeless
so I filled up a box with household items to got with it too
then I bought a sofa bed from a moving neighbor for $100
well done jmc!!!
years ago i advertised a very old fashioned wardrobe for free and thi bloke turned up with 6 kjids - they took it apart and dissappearued up the road with it
yeah everyone was happy!
good for you, jmc and happy the children are having a good time, trif
okay the hymns are calling -- see you guys later *poof*
wow kazzer! I remember a friend of mine in the city brought a bookcase out to the curb, for anyone to have. He forgot the sign that said "free" so he went upstairs to get the sign, came back out - bookcase was already gone. LOL
what i want is a old style armoire(sp) where everything you own can fit in it if the roonm has no dressers or closet space
its weird - we had some stuff that was broke and i though well if i leave it out the front soomone is bound to 'rehome' it but it took weeks
Go to craigslist, crossy, and look for "curb alerts" and free stuff
get thee to ireland, crossy. I have been to several auctions there, and everyone has those things knocking around from old relatives, so the ones at auction sell for all of 35 euro
well in the auld country they were common, less so here;9
though, mind you, by the time you fly to ireland, stay in a hotel, go to auction, buy the stuff and pay to have it shipped back over, the "bargain" element is somewhat reduced....but you will have a story to tell!
Alas, I must get ready for work. 11-6 today. Bye all. Enjoy the day.
So many people are looking for freebies these days. I don't blame anyone for scoping curb alerts, dumpster diving. Survival of the fittest, I say!
that's very true but almost worth it for the fun. We have an intranet in work with newsgroups and you can sell all sorts of junk - or give it away
ohmygosh, I'm visiting my daughter in Ann Arbor in August -- just cancelled my "inexpensive" hotel reservation after reading reviews online -- among other things, in the lobby there's a sign reading "No refunds after 15 minutes" LOL!!
There's nothing like "the thrill of the hunt" when searching for a bargain. So gratifying when you actually find one!
ugh, une! sounds like you are well away from THAT one!
no kidding! :-)
une, so glad you are here - doesn't "viend" mean something en francais?
Eeeh, Une. Sounds like a bullet dodged there.
i think viande is a word in french
probably LITERALLY judi!
lol reminds me of the antiques road show;) i LOVE the british one vs the american one) in the britt one you will get a old lady from dover up there with king authurs sword, and the guy will say`mum, its worth 65 million pounds! and she will sayòh,how lovely, rather nice`and thats it! the americans in the same instance with cry, have a stroke and wet themselves all at once;)
viande is meat
soylent green is people
sorry, couldn't resist
very good une
OH MY GOD! WE ARE EATING PEOPEL! lol
I agree crossy!!! The best part of the American one when they show people shuffling around in the background, endlessly waiting for their turn. we used to call it "yard sale of the living dead"
thank you une
:-D
there have been some really woderful finds on Antiques though - watch it whenever i can
LOL, crossy. I've noticed that too. I don't know if the Brit show does a better job of editing than the yanks. But, seems like the Americans have a lot more JUNK. Then again, I've seen some hideous items that are appraised for thousands. I just scratch my head at the whole thing.
trif, FWIT, vendre is to sell in french
of course the britt version of a antique is a tad different, you cant even turn a corner over there withour running into some pub that is ONLY 400 years old lol
Brit version always seems to have much better loot!
I love antiques roadshow, but I am SICK TO DEATH of cash in the attic, and I cannot deal with the David Dickinson guy in the smallest measurement, and that is always what they show on BBC America, endless reruns of both
of course it does une..they we using it till last week!
hi all
crossy LOL!
hey, boo
Hello, Boobear
hello boo! how's yogi today?
hi Boo
David Dickinson is a national treasure if somewhat orange one
yikes, just noticed the time -- must run -- happy babbling! *poof*
I have cobwebs in my attic. How much can I get for those?
bye une
walk into a cottage in wysledale and they dont have radios, they have t,wireless..lol complete with horn and built in 1910
kazzer, are you on the level? David Dickinson is actually considered a national treasure?
i have a lot of cuddly toys and not a lot else- i have the sort of family that either 1. had to sell anything valuable to eat or 2. went loonie and threw it out
there is a huge student following of programs like Cash in the Attic and David started on bargain hunt and has done quite a few other antique type programs
Q's done!
he knows his stuff
q whoo judi!
I want a "qu" button on my laptop....
my wife used to collect those royal douton caracture mugs at one time
then too many phonies started being made
my other half has a few. i collect wedgewood year plates
lol trif,i think you can `hot key`one of the top f buttons into a qu if you wish
my mum has cabinets full of the ladies - both wedgwood and royal doulton
clue for al 6 please
al plus what grapes grow on
I have a collection of one thing, and I like the thrill of the live hunt. Ebay sort of spoilt that - in theory I could just hop on line and find some items, but what fun is that? I am a t rex, I guess - I don't want to be fed, I want to hunt
ty
i like looking - we are lucky as Honiton is only a few miles away and has lots of antique and junk shops
You remind me of Ayla in "Clan of the Cave Bear", Trif!
mm crossy ponders trifs last line;)
Ayla paid a high price
was ayla daryl hannah?
Yep.
whee1 you have never seen a pick up truck packed so creativly with old furniture;) i better put the next thing on the hood or the nose of the truck is gonna come off the ground;)
Don't forget the bungee cords, Crossy!
crossy - starring in his very own version of the beverly hillbillies!
indeed!
and some for the load as well as myself;)
lol. Naturally!
ah-ha! add two old typewriters..annd we..are done:)
Always room for one or two more things.
ts + the products of mines
wife wont climb on though..lol
now now crossy
Hi Babble friends!
howdy beach;)
Hiya beachy!
Crossy, beautiful icon!
hiya Judi!
How is our grid, today... I never finished yesterday's!
ty beach:) thought id let my spirt bear roam for a bit
pretty normal grid .. as always, the more words your find, the fewer you have to look for
lol, BR... very profound
mm will have to change that profile a bit soon, our 17th is coming up this october;)
Perhaps your spirit bear could drive the truck.
lol judi
16th*
oooh - phone call! It's the kids!!!
lol easy trif;)
oooooh
down to 21 - t u and vs left
Me need more coffee. Must go to clan of dunkin donut.
I love Dunkin Donut's coffee...the best
BBL. 108 and counting down.
hmm sounds good judi - got some fruit cake here - might just get some
Crap. Guess I'll stop at the PB on my way out!
enjoy, Judi
We'll give you a pass on the PB, Judi

ohhh crullers are GOOD!
Are there any buttermilk bars?
Crossy! I didn't recognize you! I have the same issue with powdered donuts! Actually, our local DD doesn't even sell powdered any more...it must be a univeral problem!
not part of the tim hortons coffee mania crowd though.i just usuall park down by the water and watch them destroy thier cars trying to get into the take out line;)
lol sorry car..just letting my spirt bear free for a bit
Tim Hortons: worst donuts I ever had.
: ( no butter milk bars...
more of a tea peson myself
is there such a thing as bad donuts?
YEs there is JMitch
yep
Oh yes, Jmitch. Tim Hortons sucks out loud. Then again, I don't like Krispy Krap donuts either.

DR have never heard of that organization but it is a great one!
they are small- but sadly big in members
Just read both ...have never heard of it either, but I very glad now that I know about it! Have always been a big donor for the Red Cross...have a pin and everything! Been a while though...think I will see about a local drive...
DR, a friend of mine lost 3 babies before successfully having her first ... and now she has 3 gorgeous children!
I can imagine, I lost a nephew at age 3 months to SIDS, there was not anything like that group around then
It seems to be taking me forever to get halfway today!
They helped me through the worst time of my life to be sure. I had Alex, then awful pregnancy then Jacob. He was premie and in the ICU . They discharged me and i slept in a rocking chair for 3 days because I wasnot ever going to leave a hospital without my baby again.
We have made many friend and havehelped many others... we have also educated medical staff and lobbied for legislation...
Bless you DR!
You are amazing.
thank you both. It has been hard for our families and even Jacob but honor the memory as best we can .

I don't get the group of people either
a rather excluseive group peri it works off the co4/5

thats the co4/5 that sounds like what you wear in the winter
co7 = what you sleep on in the army + one of the great lakes (lake's name sounds spooky)

clue for the 9 plz
which one do you need, sciencegeek?
re9, admits into a club/society again
ch12 I am counting them up.....
co9-the leather guides for a horse (singular) + a word for tubing that air goes trhough
thats the co-plural for the 9
co8-even
scribe's clue is exactly right except for the co bit. :)
so it's an re9?
wow-did I screw that up! can't do 2 things at once-so sorry!

ty hursh n' scribe
Tube?
thanks, hurshy for saving that clue
think a kind of tape car
80 left.....bbl
NM! Got it!
tubing that air goes through? hose? nose?
bad enough i got a late start on the grid this morning but this one is no walk in the park
I am struggling for sure
tubing for air or tubing for liquid? Can't figure either
hoses are more for water.
think of heating/air
jmc - it's du4, think where tears come out of your eye - then in + du4, then "re" it, etc.
Kind of utility tape that is usually silver...
What? I have that one -- I am trying to figure out the CO + horse thing + tube
Did I get mixed up?
CO + horse thing (RE4) + tube (DU4)
it's re not co...
I dont get the tube either.
Sorry right! No CO!
there's no co on that ch1212. it's horse controller + tube + pl - scribe originally clued it with co instead of re THERE IS NO CO :)
car, it won't take that.
AH.... thank you, hurshy.
Wow! We are all so easily confused today!!!!!
It's okay. Most of the time I feel like Luna in HP, so nothing new for me! :)
hurshy, that un7 shoul not be accepted as a word, never would have tried til I saw you mention it
my son made a shirt out of silver du4 tape
well that clears things up!
my mother would throw a fit if I used un7
Du** tape can make avery good Bra for certian evening wear.
bbl - phone
you can fix anything with D*** tape!
can I have a clue for for the un7?
LOL, red, how stylish! Plus it comes in colors...
okay finally got the horse tube clue ty someone out there!
more of the un7 ruru, should not be a word, IMO
my mother the english teacher would say there is only un6 there is no un7
meant, more of the un6, rurur
well, no one has to see itbut it keeps things in the right place.
must hurt like hell when you pull it off tho
need to teach for awhile..... bbl
du4 tape didn't use to come in colors but since people use it for so many things besides du4s it does now
but what about when you take it off later, ouch! ;)

I love working only 3 days a week, jbv, but I do not have many on going projects...

hi jmc
Yes, I am but I am getting very stuck in the grid....
and very very hungry!
thinking about listing early this grid is a bear
me too, still have 100 to go
do you use More Words - in my own system of rules, I use that as a first step before resorting to the list
I am just piddling along, I have the day off tomorro....
how does morewords work?
well if you have Babble Expert you can click on "Resources" and it's right there, or go to www.morewords.com
I enter pre*, for example, and it gives you every possible word that starts with those letters, then you search in alphabetical order
yes, but does it list words according to the first too letters and size? I am guessing that is what it does
hmm
I only list and ask (sometimes beg) for clues.
if you know the length of the word, you can enter question marks for the missing letters, pr???, or if you don't know the length, use the asterisk pr*
I try not to list until 1/2 but some days I am either foggy headed or the grid is too hard
more words can help but I find it difficult to use without the list.
I use something like that for lexulous sometimes (don't tell pini or doren)
yes, it's difficult, but that's why I say in my own crazy system, I feel it's a step above the list
When I list early I get very confused, so I prefer to wait until I have like 75% donoe.
see I see it the reverse but that is what makes horse races
anyone have some u's? all I have is un 4/6
add the person letters to get un6
thanks!
the other two are something that is singular un 6 and then the ungrammatical more un 7
man I am never going to find 20 v words
horse races??
never heard that expression?
thanks, jmc!
yw
New one for me!
it basically is an expression of disagreement without rancor
OK!
well, do** to 100 left and that feels better.
wtg red!
146
grids like this, I want to be able to rotate them, though that makes it harder to clue via chat.
you think rotating would help?
Oh it does, try it in Scramble, using the space bar, it brings out allsortsof words.
arei c
oops...sorry !!
Ooooh yay. rain!
Hola all! I need a clue for ci 5/12 pls
Yes, it is raining here, too
hi kary and science
ci 5/12 is plural of ci 4/5 above it
I was glad to see you turned pro science
hey hey hey ci 5/12??????????? PLZZZZZZ
ci 5/12 sounds like a person who fathers another
me, too mnc I like this game. Actually, I spend way too much time playing and not working
take a breath science
I had the same problem at the begining but have found myself able to stay away when needed now
tks it worked. Like I already had the singular version. duh
always add 's 'ed 'er and 'ing when available even when it doesn't make sense
I like the chog more than the game
I should try turning the grid more often in scramble then maybe I would make better sc5s
what are you talking about "scramble?"
it is a face book game and that is actually my point about the chog
ar 6/18 pls?
lots of word games on the internet -- only one babble chog
sorry don't have it yet science
babble chog rocks. I also have a minor Facebook addiction
did you take your turn red? I know I am incredibly slow

That is, Jackie's Greek ex's nickname...

de-cluttering is our main goal this year..15 years in one place,it builds up:(
THats great DR. Sad, too. One of my friends just had a very scary delivery, with a normal pregnancy. I am so glad not tohave to tell her about this.
yes it does! We have been here for 15 years and it is clutter!
Give her an extra hug for me Red. : )
I need to go visit, but since she is still in hospital and baby is in intensive care, and such, I have decided to wait, I think she and her family are too tired for a lot of visit. but amazing how much technology can not reduce risks.... :(
We are a little concerned, we have had 2 of our staff deliver in this month, and both babies ended up in NICU.
Ok on to more sanguine topic.

crossy, my daughter got some sort of bacon cookbook and is planning lots of yummy meals. chicken wrapped in bacon, shrimp in bacon, bacon in bread, etc (in addition to our perennial spaghetti carbonara) for our family vacation next month
re + what some might use to gussy up a dress: se****s
she is a good girl;)
ty BR
Ar6 pease"??
when she does the spagetti caronara, tell her to add some small sweet peas;)
carbonara*
riven
amazing dish it tis
don't know about that crossy, she uses my old recipe that she's loved for 20 years (secret is dry vermouth added to the bacon/onion mix). I would be happy with the peas, but only fresh not canned or frozen
onassis first, abbr: ar*; and red flower: r***
and use spegatinni instead of spagetti
i like linguine, or else yes, the thin spaghetti
mmm sounds fine dorens
enough bacon, and everything will work out;))
it's the interplay of the sweet, sauteed onion along with the salty, smoky bacon. and the delicious cheese.. mouthwatering
mmmm
stop it
and the cheese, some nice ground fresh romano...
heehee. thinking of running into the kitchen right now and making it, owl? (i've done that sometimes... just for my own self)
a bit of provalone...

oh, poor owl. how about some nice relaxing music and maybe a glass of wine?
how about retirement"?
:-), but will it pay the bills? you're still too young!
help please. bought new computer, but my clues don't show up as they did on old computer.
i think i have discovered i am not. just don't have it any more.
hello TC. Wow, we never get more than a few lettersfrom you...
I fry my brain just staring at the grid and very seldom chat
unend
ah, owl we still have many years of productivity left in us at this point, even though (at least MY) memory is shot and we have slowed down some
in my field those are big problems
what kind of computer, tceicher?
sony laptop
i do understand that... I've been less effective this year in organizational stuff. losing things, forgetting things and feel slower at learning new things, however it's too soon to hang it up
creiv
sorry, tc, but i'm no help at tech stuff
I go to playbabble.com and sign in, but no clues on the left hand side
they just told us they will not restore any leave we ccan't take and momved up the annanplic time to 17 aug and plan to be there until 30 nov
clues? you mean lickety?
yea,,,,that's it
they are being hardhearted owl
tc that is a different window... click down on the lower left under friends of babble
then i am quitting. i did NOT sign up for that. i said i will be flexible. not stupid
can you really afford to do that, or is it just how you feel right now?
i can quit this particular job
did you have lickety's software on your other computer, tc? did you install it on this one?
I had everything on one screen, but had it on there so long, I forgot how I did it.
listening to a bunch of church politics bs did not help the mood
did you have lickety's babble expert?
yes, I did
have you reinstalled it?
you need to move itfrom the oldcomputer and install iton the new one tc.
oh, thanks................thought I was nuts
not sure how todo that, but I'll figure it out.
email lickety again for the program?
that sounds like a good idea
someday i have to see this babble expert!
Is it a Mac? I see a note at the bottom of Lickety's that mentions something won't work with Mac - but can't tell if it's the whole program or just the fireworks.
i have a mac, that's why i've ever seen babble expert.. it is pc only, whole program
mine is a pc, not mac.
read Never for Ever, sorry
I should try it, but I'm so used to not having it, I'm pretty fast. Can you not use Expert if you get it and would rather not?
it is an executable ... uninstall it ...delete it
ge6/30 - word often confused with "present participle"
yes, I just hide the clues until I am 75% done and/or am stuck. then I unhide the clues to help me out
ah, that's what I meant, I think. I might send for it.
It's my security blanket
tc you can do almost the same thing by using the middle button on your mouse when you click on Licketys site. Then when choices pop up, click on open in a new tab.
so what does expert get you?
ah, never thought of that
That makes two tabs open (Babble and Lickety) but you can only see one at a time. It might help until you get the program you want
I've been using it so long, I don't know what the screen looks like without it.
wish i knew, it sounds kind of cool-- i hear you can't nake mistakes and enter words into chat
I'm spoiled and would prefer not to have to do the tab thing.
I would love to have it on one page but it is what I use when I am totally stuck
anyone know how to email lickety?
would love clues for p words besides pr5
click on lickety's babble clues, it's there somewhere
before the masses get ugly pr7/32
pr 5,12 = what a crowbar does
