Has anyone posted a list in his/her profile?
I wouldn't put it past him.
I don't know, anike, I'm not long arrived.
hopefully someone's doing tha now anike
hi everypne back from getting my lunch
Hello loredana, nice to see you.
hi Lore! so nice to see you. Keeping your nose to the grindstone?
Nightshift Lynxxx all I seem to do is sleep when I am not at work thought I would give this grid a go before work
hi everyone
Hello Andree.
hi there andree
hi Andree
hi andree
just starting, 5 words, how is this grid? should i find something else to do?
Andree, Andree, Andree. What sort of question is that?
Just started myself Andree
andree the grid is delightful the last leg looks a little doubtful for me though
you are right ofcourse haz, silly thought
Even though shocked by the suggestion that you could find better things to do, so far the grid is okay. Think lady's underpinnings and you're well set.
43 left and it's getting sticky
same here Ata
Treacle wading time ahead.
list posted in my profile if anybody needs it
Congratulations on finishing, nursegladys.
Congrats NurseGladys
thx nurse
thanks couldn't have done it without help from dee and others who were here earlier

now i've found the undergarments, thx haz
You're welcome - the 8 and 9 as well?

Yes, I've got 4.
You're welcome, lynxxx.

Congratulations, anike!
yay anike
TY all - dinner to prepare now. Happy babbling
bye anike
everyone is very quiet today
Can't you hear the sound of industry?
koses
lost for words Ata excuse typo not enough typing anymore
just head in grid ata, how are you ata, feeling positive i hope
positive that my last words are hard to find, certainly!
Very happy, just placed order with online Vetshop getting 6 months supply of Stew's Flea/Worm stuff for same price as 3 months supply normally. Love my vet but their medicines etc cost a mint
excellent!
Poor vet. Sitting down to butterless bread because lynxx wouldn't buy his wormers. Violins playing in the background....
well done pays to shop around these days
excellent lynxxx
I do feel guilty but....
Yes, butterless bread, holes in the sheets, shoeless children.
A wife in rags. (Louder violin music)
how much markup do vets actually make on frontline etc?
a dog in a kennel outside, with no food
I have precisely no idea. But in context, we haven't had a wage increase for at least 5 or 6 years.
My other excellent online buy is to buy direct from Bendigo Woollen Mills. 200 gr pure wool for $11 - paying that price for 50 gr in the shoops
Oh poor Spangle lets pass the hat around
i hope you aren't fighting spangle for dinner
I've always wondered. It's so expensive.
Who says Spangle gets any dinner? As if we have any money to feed a dog anything other than scraps from our butterless bread.
It must be 100% Ata
i buy from them all the time lynxxx, usually stock up at craft fair, they have 8 and 10 dollar specials
she has to eat rats
But don't forget that part of that markup will be going to pay for premises, staff and the provision of advice etc that your online supplier isn't able to give.
Lord - I feel so guilty. I'm sorry !!!
The most galling phone call I took was from a woman who had bought stuff from the chemist during the day and then rang us about 10 in the evening to ask for advice on how to use it.
oh yes, I'm not questioning that vets do an overly large mark-up, but I'd love to know where the expensive bits come in - is it expensive to buy from the manufacturer etc etc
that is so true haz, but once you know what you need nice to save some $$'s
lynxxx - I'm teasing, don't feel too guilty. A bit guilty but not too much.
It's your choice to buy supplies where you want - the vets probably can't compete on price because they have other factors to consider.
I do know Haz...I didn't begrudge the $10,000 (min) I spent on our previous dog in 3/4 years one litte bit. But now on a limited income my spending habits have changed
I understand. It sounds like you've provided plenty of butter for the shoeless children over the years.
The volin music is fading to nothing.
lol, not my vet though, he's gay and not planning any adoptions that I know of
*violin even.
i don't think any of us who has owned pets hasn't spent a fortune at the vet and I for one never grudged a cent
nor me
Vets are beautiful caring beings
but I would not be above getting supplies at a better price
Will we have a whip round now for the Vets' Holiday Fund, Ballymena branch?
if I was a vet, I'd be wanting to cut a deal with one of the online places. Vet refers to online, they get a cut of the purchase price and customer still gets cheaper items
no. but we'll buy Spangle some dog food
Yes, but don't forget that we have built up a relationship over the years with particular suppliers. Cut them out of the picture, job losses etc for them.
if we buy spangle food, haz will be overun with rats
oh dear, more shoeless kids
lol Andree
true, but at some point that's go to break, because it's a market inequality - vets selling the same products for much more than online retailers. Someone somewhere will break the supply chain and then others will etc etc
The reality is the customer can choose where he wants to buy the stuff, if the vet isn't shifting the produce because the price is too high, he'll stop stocking it.
yep. and then his prices would have to fall, and the supplier would have to adjust somehow. the people at the bottom always take the rap
I don't pretend to understand all the economics of it all. Basically, the vet provides a service, the goods are available if people want to buy them, but he's running a business and has to make a profit.
absolutely. it's basically all about everyone trying to stay in business
Clues are up
while macro-economic forces force big companies to decrease every cost possible
Thanks lickety!
Thankyou Lickety. Trust you are keeping well
thx lickety, my hero
all done off to work we go
have fun nice grid take care all see you all next time
Congrats Lore, have a good night (quiet I hope)
Well, this isn't getting the carpetless floors swept or the ragged clothes washed, so maybe I'd better do something about it.
Bye loredana, nice to see you again.
lol have a good day :)
I'll be back later - if we can afford the electricity.
bye Haz, don't work too hard
Bye all! And lynxxx, you know I'm only teasing? *gone*
of course, bye again

Oh, dear! 211 clues, all for nothing!<Hard to type with feline balancing on legs>
I am starting a new class for college. Advanced Composition.
feline should settle in or leave...does it require sustainance?
is this creative writing?
Yes, but that requires a human other than me to pour the food into the canister so I can feed said cat(s).
should keep kibbles in bathrobe [pocket for such circumstances
No, but I will do my damnedest to make it creative!
Hello
Hi, Herin, my lady!
so it's more about writing reports etc?
How are you are?
hi herin
Hi Kate
howza by you?
Yes. But I find that unamusing, so I will write the most goofy nonfiction ever written....<devilry afoot>
glad you're up to a little impish activity jai...gotta keep those instructors on toes
Like a story about cyber Hot Tubbing.....My favorite pasttime...
Oh, yes! Wake them Up!
like 6to write, but could never "write on demand"...not even reports, essays, nm fiction...it's a talent all its own
I just brought home presents for the b.f
Kate, you write quite splendidly here...why should you not write splendidly there????
What did you get, herin?
you're not going to let them peer into babbleworld are you...little creepy having outsiders around?
2 new cds. Late birthday present
Never!!! But it it is a true observation! You write very creatively
i am not writing on demand here...i choose whatnd if i write...used to dread essay exams...didn';t matter how well prepared, couldn't compoose on ythe fly
OOO, CDs. What sort? I am listening to Diane Arkenstone at the moment....
STOP>>>BIRTHDAY PRESENTS
I bought him Silversun Pickup swoon and Uncovered
( am caught up now., apologies herin...i type with head down)
O, my! Should be great for him!
http://tinyurl.com/marmzo This is the uncovered one It would be an import into the States
He was rather surprised as it was unexpected.
Took a look...good choice!
It is rather cool
How do you do those "tinyurl" thingies?
www.tinyurl.com

good grief, woman....what'd that take ya? 30 min?
way to go jai, you're my hero
I have been doing it on and off all night..between naps....I hardly can do anything in 30 minutes!
Well done Jai
still, very commendatore ( italian?)
Could not find one last sneaky "C"...turned out to be pl. for URI...
hmmmm taking notes
goodness, now what will you do .... Housework???????
aaaahhhh..thy're playing Enya now.....
how far along are you herin?
?
in the grid...
I do not do housework. I cannot do housework. I have child slaves for that.
164 words left. But the b.f is killing things in Dawn of War 2 rather loudly
not asking state of womb
I understood that
At least it is not World of Warcraft. Count your blessings.
approve jai... i was worked to the bone as a child....
Can't play that here as we don't have the right internet for it
does bf spend inordinate amount oif time in such pursuits?
Playing laptop games? Yes but is sensible.
These children are 22 and 23 and have child of their own and live with me due to idea that they need not work...therefore, they do housework, and raise tyheir own offspring inbewteen fights....
it's 9 p.m. in aussie?
Yes indeed.
you can still box their ears, i'm sure
midday here..hello all
I am in CDT. Are you, TKate, up there where it is cold for a hobby?
HI Zoom
Hiya, Zoom!
you are in what jai?... C D T ?
hhi zoomzoom
No. I just do not pay the phone bill. No World of Warcraft for them....
Central Daylight Time
Just kidding about the WOW.
i'm Eastern time here 1 hr later than yoiu
We have mobile internet and mobile phones so no warcrack
i feel babble is as addictive as WOW
at least for me anyhow..lol
No, it is not. The chat is addictive, but it isn't if you are not funny and amusing!
Babble is only addictive if you admit it.
well that counts me out then Jai..haha
it's practically brass monkey weather here at present...very unseasonable. hobby implies a pursuit that one enjoys, does it not???????????
I like that...warcrack...that is truly what that damn game is!
DO NOT ENJOY COLD....am delicate hot house plant...very exotic, pretty, and sweet smelling
I buy all PC Games I don't believe in paying over and over again
You must enjoy lack of sun and cold if you reside in Canada! Not to mention mosquitos as big as...well, big....
Trade why not move. I have heard Canada is brrrrrrrrrr cold
Now, I like to boil. I like having my house relocated each year during hurricane season. This is a very reasonable place to live. And I have been bitten by a copperhead only once....
warmer than mich....or ore...or n. dak......or mont.
or Chicago for that matter...that's where I am from....
I am hoping we don't have a horrid hot season again
this has been a very cruel an uncharacxhteristicly cold summmer in east. normally we're about 80-85 now but yesterday barely made it to 60 for a bit
why on esarth did i think you were from mississippi?
speaking of cold and rainy....chiming in from Vermont
Yes, and you actually can claim to have ben hit by a Hurricane!!! Outstanding!
Hello Eva :-)
Because I LIVE in Mississippi, but am FROM Chicagoland....
hi zooz
I hear california is not having it too good.
herin , you certainly wouldn't want a big fire season after last year...an d california's got their own simillar problems
No, California has four seasons...mudslides, fires, droughts, and monsoons....
any clues for the co9?
Oh heck no. I think I cried every day for a month about our fires. Hi Eva
do not listen to crossy re: mosquitoes...there haven't been any this year...weather is so bad
jai LMAO ROFL
hi herin
little, tight little barrel-type undergarments for women...
ahh, thanks Jai.
in fact i have heard precisely ONE cricket this summer, and it was in the basement...weather has messedup our pooor insects
o have a co7 from that, but not a 9?
never mind-got it. Thanks!!
Have you heard about our honeybees???? They have contracted a virus and are dying out, which gives us about seven years left to occupy the planet before we will all have to go out with paintbrushes and pollinate all our trees and stuff all day long....
I did hear that Jai. I think we just have screwed everything up
our bees still seem quite vibrant. I keep a close eye on them
Yes they have been talking about that here too, very sad..would not think a lack of bees could kill of the human race.
Yep. We have wasps of all varieties, and dive-bombing bumblebees, but I have not seeen a single honeybee all summer....
more than just the awful virus..also out competed by african bees that don't do their share of pollination and are very aggressive
Yep. It's Mississippi, so they have to come here and try us out for fun, just like the fire ants did...
and we have lost 90 percent of our bats due to white nose virus. We had mosquitoes with a vengeance this summer, despite the cold, because of the rain and, i would guess, the absence of bats
i have a rather large one on my drapes right now...he came in the open window ande it's so cold he just sittds there
Good God!
Aww...i love bats. i miss seeing them swooping around in the evenings.
Poor Bats
I like bats, don't get me wrong. It's just that I do not think they should serve as swags for drapes.
have bee not bat, but am very fond of flying mice...
wow have never had a bat come into the house before.
Good morning/day to all. Kate, I hope you slept all evening + night and just got here. You were a sleep-deprived lunatic yesterday afternoon.
I don't know if my tomatoes, the ones that didn't get blossom end rot from the extremes of temp and wet, are ever going to ripen-usually have loads of them by July. even the zucchini fizzled and that's saying a lot!
My parents had a tiny little bat in their house since they have cathedral ceilings
Hi Scrabbler
had a bird in here a few weeks back...just a house finch
Hello Scrabs
My other cat used to bring bats into my bedroom at night and let them go once she realized they weren't birds or mice. She expected me to remove them.
I had a bat flying in my house sevreal summers ago. It cost me $2000 to remove the colony from the attic and seal the house.
I thought nothing, I mean NOTHING, killed zucchini! Every year, we spend half the summer passing zucchini from house to house, wondering why the hell we didn't plant just one seed....
awww Ebathat is too cute
why thank you scrabs, i wish you a good day as well.
have had a robin in the house..thousands of ants and lots of flies in the summer..lol
I am sad + disappointed with my tomato crop this summer. I have 27 plants and the production is low.
Snort we always knew Scrabbler had bats in her belfry
We had many a conversation about she who brings the bat in gets to take it out, but she would just look at me and meow.
Kate---really, did you sleep? We were worried about you.
Lack of honeybees. See!
LOL, eva
never plant zucchini...its like christmas fruitcake. suspect there are only actually 1000 in worlkd...they just keep getting passed on...never eaten
TK, you stole my joke!!!!!! Only nobody read it......
I know kate, but it's the one thing you can always count on for abundance, even if we all gripe about it. And ever since I found out about using it instead of pasta it gets used much more rapidly.
Scrabbler I got to snuggle the cutest Angora rabbit today
worried pour moi? pour quoi? was up at 8 last nite...still up, may have a quoick nap soon.
Rabbit snuggling? Heaven!
Kate, Kate...Dormez vous????
ok 124 to find, will be back later, bye all, nice listening to the chat today.
Kate, do you not require much sleep? I need 8.5-9 hrs/night to be at my best the next day.
bat remal brutality, scrasbs...sorry have fallen far behinfd the conversation
I seem to be able to only sleep about 4 hours before my leg starts screaming in pain....
Bye Zooz
Why, Jai?
I can't imagine sleeping that long scrabbler-only has happened a handful of times in my adult life when sick. 6-7 is my max
It was wonderful. The store that sells them is a rescue store. They make sure every single pet that leaves there gets a good home. ALso the rabbit Cup Cake gets free reign of the bench when its quiet.
sorry for absconding with jai's joke....i am a bad bad babbler
Bye Zoom
see you all later...much to do this morning
Had a bad infection in knee joint...it ate all the cartilage...now it rachets instead of glides when I move it....
I love sleeping in my nest. I have a very entertaining and vivid dream life. It's like I have my own channel, the Scrabbler Channel.
Bye Eva
by zooz
Ouch, Jai
Jai what about Glocosomen
I eat that stuff like candy and so far the cartilage does not grow and I have developed ...welll ...a gaseous problem.....
*taking several steps away from Jai*
bye eva
mmmm Jai. I am no help then
Luckily, it is internal and does not ....well, exit....
So where does it go then, Jai?
okay finally caught up...sorry
I beat my stomach and move the pockets around...that seems to work...and the glucosamine has gone onto my top shelf of my medicine cabinet
scrabbs i normally sleep long... must use alarm as i will be in nest 12+ hrs. if alllowed...but lately not sleeping well.
me too, Kate
Neither am I. So I talk here. It is good. Otherwise, I would go crazy. <already has, but does not know it>
I went crazy many years ago and have adapted quite well.
cwish i had scrabblevision for dreams
I envy you, Scrabbler. My craziness seems to show too much for my family's liking.
I have incredible dreams that make me seriously wonder about past lives.
to heck with them
to heck with them
you're perfectly charming jai
Jai, start to accept and value your craziness and then others will too.
sigh i have to go and block people on facebook
do tell scrabs
not again herin...will you be back?
good morning all!
dreams or wackiness?
Hi Wolvie
WAIT! HERIN! Find me on facebook under jaianniah!

well at least I got to say hello to you scrabs - you feeling better then?
FOund you Jai and now added. Hi wolvie
brb...need a break
TY, herin!
So much better! I recovered by early afternoon and did some cleaning but I need to catch up
glad to hear you are better - sorry about the work load tho. ;-)
counting the days I bet
good morning babble friends!!!
hi trif
4 wks from today is last day---big battle over PTO though
Hi Trif
hi trif
TRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFIEEEEEEEEEES
the pto saga continues, does it?
Alright, I must move myself out of this seat and prepare for the day.
okay, babble question: does anyone else sometimes get words wrong in their head as they play? Here''s what I mean - I found the pl4 that means the ballet bend. Then I pluraled it, and then I tried "one who does the bend" which is how I pronounced it in my head. only after I entered the plural of THAT did I realize that the word actually was the name of a tool, not "one who does the bend" - anyone else ever do this?
trif psst you've got a fan
yes, I remember the battle you mentioned - good luck
bye scrab
Well, Kate, it is unresolved as I am preparing my arguments
yes trif. :-)
Yes, I often mispronounce words in my head and find it is a word said another way
hello all - HHHEERRRIIIINNNNN
Trifs i find it easier just to hit and type. Best luck Trifs
well, glad to know it is not just me!!!
Bye all. I will miss you. I work from 8:30-7:30 today. Yuck.
kate, who is it that you refer to? Herin?
bye scrabbler! we should starting counting down hours for you! it's so exciting that you are so near to the end!
It works with things like so up and so ap as well. (I'm just passing through - waving to the newcomers)
waves at haz passing thru
And can I confess that I never see pl4 or jete without thinking of MikeyinBerlin? See you all later!
;-)
bye haz
the key is pronunciation. today i was adding 's,er' to some words. had what men wear ....but didn't try er on the food because it is pronounced differently
bye bunnygirl
yes, herin is fan of trif...judging by greeting.
am way behind on chat again
thanks kate. and trust me, trif is a fan of herin!!!
I heart the b.f that is allowing me on his fb page to see what its drama is
bye haz
which makes me think - babble nicknames often are not pronounced anything like what the real names are....for example, "herin" is not how the first two words of herinfernallady is pronounced, yet we all shortened it thusly.
mutual admiration society, i like that trif
except me - I'm worse - I call her fern. ;-0
(((as you can see, I love me some words!!!)))
I like Herin. I think it was Inge that said it was very close to master of the dog
too many letters her infernal lady
is there a she who must be obeyed?
and my name is a mash up of my kid's names, yet people here call me "trif" which mashes two of the names even further. Note - I don't mind trif at all!!!
not that I know of Kate
all nicknames are short , warm and fuzzy
Yep. That is usually me :D
hyerin reminds me of bird, heron...very regal, but not pretentious
guess i9 didn't pick a good name then?
your name is just fine Kate - there, see, even I shortened you!
Yes, but why "Trader"?
well hi sheenashayna. ;-)
shesha, maybe?
Hi
i get trader, kate and kt...all are fine. use traderkate on stock sites....just trying to apply kiss principle
Just sheesh, maybe?
how 'bout sheesh?
Sheesh works for me.
LOL - much better
sheesh it is then
wolvie is the exeptional one...
I used Trifioso when I first went on line years ago, and just never changed it. I like how it's gender neutral, and unique enough that I usually don't have to add numbers after it.
already shortened, eh?
is today bank holiday in uk?
Well I am now in a awesome happy mood.
more vodka and choclit?
It started out years ago as wolverine, but became wolvie thru time - my license plate even uses it
michigan fan, wovlie?
wolvie, even!
No. The girl that was mean to me has blocked me. :D
I have do 4/5,4/5,4/5, 4/10, 5/22, 6/36, and 5/22 - what tyoe am I missing?
like wolvie...picture cartoon wolfman dancing in shorts, t-shirt and sandals
yes trif - that was the origin. :-)
cartoon sounds good
oooooh - I went to Ohio State! we are sworn enemies suddenly!
type - not tyoe. lol
oh no trif! lol

good afternoon everyone
how's the grid today?
Good afternoon jacq.
how many words?
It's pretty nice, I think.
211 words
heya haz
How's your weather, jacq, or should we move to the next topic?
I need help with my last word: cr 6/21. Please clue it for me
lets talk about the weather. sunny, blue skies down here :D
cr plus an anagram of the part of the foot that's on the bottom, or the lower part of a shoe.
it's grey a little damp and quite mild
You can go off people.
kent's so annoying
It's very annoying. It must be a trial to live there.
lol
absolutely
annnd as from tomorrow, dogs are allowed back on the beaches all day long. Best day of the year for canines
They're not allowed on during the summer months because of tourists?
hello all :)
Thanks I finally go it
yep, on all the really popular beaches
LIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
That's good, inge. Congratulations on fireworks!
Hello Liz!
well nothing spoils a guests stay moreso that laying down for a tan on a beach full of turds;)) morning everyone
hiya Lizark
some beaches are fine, some only allow dogs in early morning and late evening and some are banned entirely (like Margate Main Sands, Ramsgate beach etc)
:))
congrats on fireworks inge
Hello crosshair.
Ooo beaches - your photos are lovely Ata¬
wtg inge!!
heya crossy
ty Liz! Which cat were you trying to wrangle earlier??
heya ata
LOL that was Indie
and she looks so sweet and gentle ..
I caught her down at the old house. Simon whizzed up with the cat basket but she freaked when she saw him. But there was NO WAY I was letting go. my arms are in shreds!¬
no! not losing another one down there!
Good to have you back this side of the ocean Ata :)
ohhh! i love elmont! what a great looking lab!
Yes 'fraid so
Elmont? Lol thats my name. The dopey dog is called Oscar!
how is monster dog??
Love the dear Ata
lmao! yes labs are dopey but they are amazing
He's been converted Ata :) He is a saint nowadays ;)
Oscar is quite a special lab
have you been doping him or something?
i have poo-dog/cream lab, sturgis/brown lab and willow/black lab
special should be in inverted commas lol
they are my life lol, Oh ya and the kids too
it should. I was being lazy :P
very "special"
do you go to the dog park in Warrenton, aff?
No, just lulling me into a false sense of security
labs have the most amazing personalities. like humans
he's working up to something spectacular
Thats what worries me!
if Os was human, he'd be ......
yes sometimes. If i have someone with me to handle all three. The female is show trained so she stays next to me but the males need constant supervision lol
Blimey I wouldn't like to meet a human with Oscars personality ROFL
is oscar aggressive?
you probably have seen one of my friend's black labs in there at some point
now that WOULD be special!
Aggressive!!!! LOL!!!!!! He might lick you to death
or barrel you over a cliff
more than likely, willow is an english lab so shes short squat and thick, the 2 males are tal and slender = american labs
thats true :)
Oscar is half English bloodlines and half French. He's big and solid, proper old fashioned show type
but he's more likely to just fall over himself, as we well know
ie he's HUGE
my babies are like that too, theyll lick you to death but they sure sound scary when you are on the other side of the front door ))
We went over to Little Sark yesterday and I was retelling the cliff story then :)
over the bridge! yay!
yup thats willow too, Her grand dad was best of show krupps and eukanuba
Oscar and Hobbit made a great pair :)
oscar just - has odd habits. Like eating lightbulbs. And falling off cliffs
half english and half french?..crossy restrains himself with effort...:))))
they really really did, it was such a joy to watch them together
her daddy was a yellow and he was best of breed eukanuba and the akc show, he never went international like grandpa did
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/etang-bala ncet/ Oscars dad is Ole on the main photo
lmao! Poo eats socks, so ya i get it
LOL you make him sound like such a nutter Ata :))
socks are far too normal for Os :)
didn't he eat the floor one day?
akc says labs have an eating disorder lol sturgis ate 10 pounds of choco chips once
lmao I think your dogs would get on well!
we had one that used to eat stones
poo likes to bring me stray q-tips that have found their way to the floor. Like its his job. lmao hes so proud when he finds one
damn dog would chip his teeth..
customers! Better go - see you all later :)
my sister's Willow eats stones too *facepalm*
bye dear!
Bye Liz.
and Haz sits back smugly as she has a Dog of Perfection
we cured him by putting him in his dog run for the night with strategically placed small stones that had been bathed in tobasco sauce....
labs are just great. when i had my surgery 3 years ago and i had no one to take car of me sturgis learned to drop his head in front of me and back up once i grabbed his chain so i cud stand up
<---------
exactly. She is a Dog of Glory indeed
lol
i do think he thanked us in the end as his bowell movements we much happier affiars after that
awwwww what a lovely boy
lmao
well not the first one after the tobasco sauce rocks....
looooooool
but all came out well in the end;)
it was odd becuz i didnt teach him that, he just came up to me as i was moaning and struggling to stand, nuzzling my hand and standing so stoic in front of me. sure enuf i grabbed his chain and he backed upslowly, at first i thot a fluke, but he did it everytime after that same thing.
labs are amazing in that regard afflamed
do they, or do they not, sell PRELIT christmas trees???
they do
they are masters in observation. They have minds that adopt and figure things out. Like how to get the food from places they shudnt
more like pre wired
i rest my case.
I sense a complaint coming.
and have prelet flats and houses
the new fibre optic trees are neat
this is true, ata, but i thought i should focus on one outrageous omission at a time :)
but i imagine if you find one with old style candle on it as in a display model,id blow them out before you stuff it in the car;))))
sneaking back in behind customers backs
bad liz
very sensible
depends what she sells;)
my first phantom is PILOT
did you have a wonderful time in Spain?
and my second is STETL
Reading Afflameds posts there - thats why I do all this insane stuff fundraising for Dogs For The Disabled - anyone who can train a dog like Oscar to behave like that must be a miracle worker!!!
oh wait, that would have to have an H
shtetl!
Ohhh Ata! Spain was fabulous!
wonderful!!!
Yes, it would (the village)
ok, my second phantom is PERCENT
yea customers spent lots of money before leaving :)
yay good for them!
what do you sell liz?
no no Ata - good for me!!
why do i always have the most trouble with P words? and possibly C words.
and good for you!
I have a little shop selling local books, paintings, photography maps and stuff :)
lol these guys are so sweet they bring me to tears. When you are your most down and depressed they softly sidle up and offer love and comfort
i want to have a little shop! in england!
Oh Aff, I remember now one time when I was really upset about something, Oscar was just young and he trotted off into the other room and came back with his manky teddy and dropped it on my lap :)
i wlould love to slowly go broke with a nice little book shop selling used books;))
awwwwwwwww
Well mine is definitely little ... but its not in England lol
What would you sell in your shop?
Mine are mainly used books Crossy
sorry, i meant UK, anywhere is fine. :)
i just love the atmosphere
By a petty little quirk Hurshy we aren't even classed as UK...although apparently we are GB? Go figure that out lol
yeah, books is a good kind of shop.
Crossy I love the smell of old books
where is sark again?
aww that is so sweet! Even the 'slowest' of labs get when their alpha human is sad
me too
i have several volumes that i actually hate but keep around JUST for the old book smell:)
Its one of the Channel Islands Hurshy
a little island, no less. sigh...
Oh Aff, Oscar isn't slow. Sadly! He'd be a lot more manageable!! His problem is he's too smart!
and very curious
Hurshy it is 3 miles long, one and a half wide and has 500 people living on it
i love olde books too (english spelling as a courtesy) :))
lol @ Liz
were you born there?
Hobbit liked my shop didn't she Ata LOL
No Hurshy I was born in Shropshire and grew up in Cheshire. I moved to Sark when I was 18.... all those years ago
ok off to work 44 words later - BYE ALL! *waving madly*
just a little bit :D
bye Aff
and did it... go smoothly? i mean, i know there are some islands, like in the mediterranean, where they aren't very welcoming of newcomers
I think the way its looked at here is that you may be a resident and you are accepted for that but you will never be local unless you are born here!
were you on your own or still with parents? was it hard to find a job, place to live?
it's like that here in the N/E of scottish mainland
I think it's the same here, Liz. It's not that people are unfriendly, and I have lived here for 27 years, but I don't think of myself as coming from here.
No I was offered a job here which was supposedly a seasonal thing. I took it because I had a break before I was due to start my new job after A Levels and College. I never left.
Thats about it Haz :)
lol liz we have a island just like that down near the city called toronto island and they are always at war with the rest of "the mainland" because seeing as they do not get any of the city services"water, sewer, garbage pick up" they pay less taxes on thier propertyBUT now the tax reassesment dofferential has slid so much, they are using a tazx base on the island from the 60,s and everyone is fighting to get on the list for the next property that comes up for sale there lol
Don't even get into the tax thing Crossy thats way too complicated lol!!
half the time the rest of the area just wants to raze the island and let the seagull have it again
I need ice cream. Its 27 degrees in here today
mmmmm icecream
mmmmmmmm *cold*
send Sam. he must be hanging around somewhere!
good morning Babblers
You know as well as I do that I have no idea where my son is lol Kids go feral on Sark in the summer!
hi Nono
nono:))
Good morning Nono.
lol Crossy that is the way most upstate New Yorkers feel about Long Island
Good gracious. What would social services say?
and I bet he hasn't got his phone either!
lol nono,is tha tax bases tween the two very different?
We do not have such a thing here Haz, but since we have little traffic and no crime..... its like going back to the 50's in the UK
er...no Ata, its down the side of my armchair (at the last look)
not sure about the tax base, but it seems like most of our tax dollors go to support the Island
lmao there's a surprise. well you'll have to get the icecream yourself then
sounds like a nice place to be liz
It is crossy. We dont even lock our doors
I'm conjuring up images of Just William and his gang with catapults etc.
i want to live in sark!
Good morning, fellow homo sapiens.
morning Judi
Good morning Judi!
Yep Haz that sums it up
Just William with added mad labradors
ROFL Ata
Now I'm trying to remember his dog's name.
You would have laughed today Ata
what did he do?
(Not a dog story!) I went up to the fire station to have a look at their open day....got given a hose to hold. When they switched it on I was physically lifted into the air and deposited into a tree!!!!! Just by the force of the water.
am running a bit late today so going to dive in and find as much as I can in the grid.......
Jumble - the pedigree.
sigh..a little used booke shoppe on a small island sounds fine(crossy pictures a hobbit house/harry potter magic store):))
LOL Crossy :)
whoa.
looooooooool liz!!
that must have been a sight!
LOL. Sounds very uplifting, Liz!
And did they use their ladder to rescue you?
It was so funny - until I saw the local paper camera woman hiding nearby!!!
Talk about making work for themselves..
please tell me someone took photos
LOL Haz, they would have preferred to leave me I think!
MUST POST!
It was only a little tree :)
still funny!
Come on now, for the sake of the story, you have to have been deposited 30 feet up.
practicing skydiving?
were you wearing a skirt? they may have adjusted just for you lol
Sorry Haz :) Ata do not mention the S word. I have to not think about that!
*innocence*
Skirt ???? Me????? ROFL not a chance - jeans!!!
not sure I can imagine Liz + skirt
mmm methinks problem with used book store on island is at 500 people and lets say each have 20 books they own, thats 10,000 books for the total population.in 20 years everyone will havbe read everything if each person reads 2-4 books a week lol
Well exactely Ata!
But if nobody locks their doors at night, you, the enterprising bookstore owner, simply sneaks in and extracts a few books from their shelves.
Crossy I stock local interest books, mainly out of print and collectable. I sell over the internet as well as in the physical shop. The only novels I have are for sale for charity....
good thing there's new books out every day
ROFL Haz. I like your thinking!
im just messing with ya :))
I know :P
i can see the new books coming in once evey 3 months in the hold of some fishing boat;))
We live in caves and don't even have electricity too you know :P
lol
This is a clockwork computer!!! :P
and get around by horse and cart. oh wait ...
bastard coming through the eye of a storm with 20 gross of hello kitty books;)
Her post today comes by virtue of Oscar working out on the treadmill and powering a generator.
looooool
Theres a thought.....
Good morning all! May I please have a clue for the top row O? I need it for NBT! TY in advance!
Oh gosh! we're meant to be finding words????
bet 5 cats would produce a good amount of power too
os6 and os7 - people who handle horses at old fashioned inns.
Only if you want to Liz!
No wonder they keep leaving home Ata
you're working them too hard
TY Haz! Can't believe it..but I found them!
I know. I am pure evil!
Well done, car!
oh - talking of books Liz - I read the 2nd Stieg Larssen book last month - Girl who Played With Fire. Just as good as Dragon Tattoo
Ata I am taking mine to Peru!
OMG i found the 9!!!
I have pre-ordered the last one too
Fun one, isn't it, jacq?
you'll love it. and me too!
very odd word
Time for me to get going. Ironing to do and a dog to walk. Toodle-pip all!
I read 3/4 on the flight over to Seattle. A perfect book to while away very long hours
have fun perambulating!
Bye Haz
bye haz
I have a 13 hour flight from Madrid to Lima
Bye! (We're dodging showers - not everyone has blue skies and ice-cream) On the plus side, the grass is lovely and green.
ouch
liz what is the website of your shoppe? think ill browse:))
Madrid? how odd. don't we fly to Peru from here?
LOL Haz enjoy!
No Ata. I boat to Guernsey, fly from there to London, London to Madrid, Madrid to Lima, Lima to Cusco.....
sarkbooks.com Crossy
see how long it takes a hello kitty ereaser to come from the ends of the earth:)))
wow. Is June flying with you?
Yes, then from London we're meeting up with the others
so jealous
lol @ ephemera, you know she plays babble;)))
TITLE is another phantom.
heya hurshy
I know :( I wish you could have come....but then you are considering meeting us for the unmentionable jump aren't you?
I am! I actually emailed Dogs for the Disabled earlier today to ask if I could ........
the good part would be that Hobbit would come and we could all hug her afterwards!
oooo and?
What did they say?
no reply yet - bank holiday
oh *slap*
I'll let you know tomorrow
You think you can do the money in that amount of time?
liz, very, very nice site.laid out very nicely;)
hi all
Really? Thank you Crossy :)
I can certainly try! I did ask around friends and helpful people and they are all willing to put some money towards it. and I've got loads of old books to get rid of, I'd take them to my fav 2nd hand shop in Whitstable and guilt them into giving me money for them for the charity. etc.
hi Boo
and at the end of the day, I'll take donations for random bits and bobs of knotwork in the future!
Ellie and I are doing our money together. We have made exactely half the amount so far just from sponsors
hello every1
if they let me do it, I'll pester you about how to do that :)
I am SO scared. I'm frightened I might black out!
I'll be petrified if they say I can. But it's something that I've always wanted to do, but I know I'd never do it on my own!
hey, well, if you black out, that's time you can't be scared :P
heya phae
hi phae!
saw only one interiop photo of your shoppe, get some colour in there !! some curio items on the wall, few potted plants as it looks kind of spartian:)but i love your island! do you have a spare room in the back?:)))
I have to get the doctor to sign my medical form. They have to weigh you as there is a limit! I need to stop eating!!!
that's the one thing I'm worried about!
LOL Crossy that was the very first photo someone took in here and it was actually done before the shop was properly open. It is so bright and colourful in here now and you can't see one speck of plain wall!
hi, sorry, cant do it, too fat
God can you imagine! And Ellie is so skinny!
did they tell you the limit?
15 stone :)
phew. I'll be ok if I don't eat
I'm sure I put on lots of weight in the US *sigh*
diet from today!
Plus when I stuff Oscar under my jumpsuit...I must be near that ROFL
what do you guys need to be under the limit for???
refresh me 1 stone =12 pounds?
I'm doing a skydive for charity in October. Atas thinking of joining me
the word we can't mention lol
ohhh
Never understood the concept of stone weight. What does that translate into in American flesh?
hurshy, they are planning on throwing themselves out of a perfectly good aircraft!!!
can you imagine?
14lb i think
its scary Hurshy because I am very very afraid of heights
14lbs to one stone
hi Jac :)
you will LOVE skydiving liz!! just the first time when they toss you out of the plane is hard
10,000ft is very very different to a very tall building or something though
i weigh about 11 stone at the moment then, i guess!
heya Liz
i would like to lose 1 stone.
yes, scary, totally understandable.
I tried to go on a high tower thing in Spain to see how I felt and I went all dizzy and faint. I was close to blacking out. Out of a plane....well....
joking aside, i wish you well in this adventure and i'm sure the fear will go as soon as you hit terra firma again, just don't get hooked on the fear lol
i am not afraid of heights, particularly, i don't mind being up on high towers or in planes - it's the falling from the heights i might be more leery of.
No fear of that LOL
10,000 feet and a tall building is no different, just perspective cause if your chute fails it all ends the same, just a deeper crater;)))
can I have a clue for a top O word?
Although I did say never again after Jordan....and that was before Peru...
i abseiled once, only 40 feet, but the instructor said i was in actual shock when i finally got down
you arrive at the inn and you give your horses to the os6 to take care of.
oh God! Crossy!!!!!!! *faints and hits floor with a dull thud*
it sounds like someone who might own an olde inn
shhhh crossy lol
LOL crossy, that is so cruel
easy liz,the adrenal rush is incredible.when you have done the first one you feel like you own the earth
Proof that you pass out before you hit the ground.
*sniffs smelling salts and blocks ears so she can't hear Crossy*
jacq...can i have the clue in american speak? :)
name that proper noun! intel processor
I could never do a single parachute thing, but tandem might be ok. It's not your decision really then

Uhg. I would hurl just looking at that ride. Couldn't imagine actually getting on it.
what are the points good for?
Liz, you did well i was crying before i even climbed 20 feet to the platform i was abseiling from, was cvered in wet slimey stuff from half way up till half an hour after i was down
planes don't bother me as much as stuff like that. would never do that ride!
No can I Judi!!!!
horror horror!

Ohhhh lol. Shes really good at karaoke. We're going tonight. I watch not sing!!
ROFL Hurshy

very sensible! karaoke is one thing I could *never* do!
you're not a mon**** or even a young****, you're the opposite of the latter.
Cortez
Not even after a lot of brandy!
The Japanese invented Karaoke to make the rest of us look like arses.
ding ding ding!
20 mins to go 20 mins to go............
Yay!

sorry, should have thought about that
0_o
and the 8's are co, oL, re, and... ?
is the os a common word?
if you read dickens it is.
well, I'm reading "mr timothy" does that count?
i dunno, do they pull up at an inn and give their horses to an os6?
re8?
not yet, but i'm only on page 14
if you divide something, and then you divide it again, you re7 it.
got the clue tho thanks!

afternoon here
hmmm think i need coffee...
where's here?
scotland
oh.. wow... I always wanted to go there.
I have ...
smiles it's worth the trip
i want to go to the states
depends on where you go here to say it's worth it..
SF worth it.. Bakersfield.. not worth it..so on and so on
HOllywood, soooo not worth it!
not for the touristy stuff for the history of some areas, from a geological perspective
La Brea tar pits, definitely worth it!
grand canyon, scab lands in virginia etc
I'd like to go round some of the fossil localities in Arizona and Utah
nods there is so much more to the states than washington and disneyland
and holywood leaves me cold as does the glitz of vegas
hollywood is just full of porn shops
it's all too forced and fake for my taste
I only went there cos I wanted to see Revenge of the Sith on a day I happened to be in LA lol. And had spent the rest of the day at La Brea poking at mastodontids
very plastic-y
lots of fossils in Palm Springs too.. but of a different sort
LOL
I got so cross when I went to Palm Springs
so much wasted energy
living fossils?
being summoned to go to the beach. bbs

Hello, hurshy
hello, brabble
was Vicunas clue
i never did figure out the other day if you feel that i am one of the people who engages in male-bashing
thanks from me too jac q.
it can be so hard to remember things one has said in the past, and to monitor one's behavior unless one's attention is brought to bear on a particular matter. i would most appreciate you filling me in on any unpleasant patterns you notice in my conversation.
No, hurshy
You are a dear friend
oh, good. i wouldn't want to have hurt your feelings!!
i consider you a dear friend as well. :)
thank you
Clue for re 5/12
on that happy note, and having finished my gridding, i will bid you all a fond adieu

There is no explanation for the capriciousness of Enable
they obviously have never put up those wonderful trees then
Enable is a source of constant consternation.
i can imagine
hi all - back to see if I can finish up. :-)
whee1 got myself a new wireless kb and mouse:)
Good day, crossy and Wolvie
way to go, crossy!
howdy br
Hey BR - better today?
I am okay
well that's good. :-) I was asking about the computer tho.
I figure when you are posting, you are doing alright. :-)
The speed is a bit better
I asked some buddies who are way better at that sort of thing than me, and they thought we had covered the basics. They did wonder about your registry condition tho. Some stuff can hide in there that is tough to ferret out
Frankly, my system is substandard --- if I keep it lean and clean .. I am okay ... o/w ...
Thanks for the help.
true - it was just the time frame that bugged me. If you are satisfied, that's all that counts. :-)
Hey, crossy, how do you like the mouse and keyboard?
hi all
hi jmc
hello, jmc
Hi Jmc, Wolvie BabbleRabble et al
heya soodle!
Hello, Soodlebum
hi soodle

the wireless keyboard doesn't improve typing?
afraid not. lol
I speak Chinglish, but I don't know what the hell Crossy is saying.

Hmmm. Perhaps the universal translator is coming back on line.
Does anyone know how the rankings work? I've completed every grid for the past week and my number hasn't changed.
keeps mising the spacer
heya crossy again and jmc
there you go, jac - knew you'd chime in.;-)
hi jac
it has a erogonomic(sp) hump in the keyboard.it is hard to get used to
I never pay any attention to the rankings
Mema - rankings? I don't even look - I know it's bad. ;-)
not touching that one crossy
LOL
*covers eyes*
mmmmmmm must keep figures from typing a reply to crossy
hi judi
the only thing I use rankings for is to find sprite and the theme for the day
which reminds me I had some complaints about this icon so brb
Sl8?
the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog:)
! never thought of that jmc - maybe i will do that and eventually change my icon
judi - that must be the 8 I am missing. sorry
I monkied it.
holy cow - so did I- what kind of word is that?
back
hello again jmc
Sounds like a 70's rock band.
lol
mmmmm, nothing like frosty cold glass of iced tead;))
tea even
I kinda like the themes. It is amusing to see how people interpret them
yeah that tead will get ya every time. ;-0
I would take a more specific clue than that for the SL8
I used to do the themes - I should be able to now - just switched to a MAC not long ago
compound word jmc - muddy shoes would cause it
or what the bottoms of your shoes would do in mud. with the mud part first
hmmm looks like the 8 will have to wait a while for me
no worry there are still plenty of other words I have yet to find
sl 4 plus so 4
it's two words already on your list probably sl4 and the other one
got it ty
Sl8: shoe slide + shoe bottom.
ciggie break
:-(
back
help with the z and the top O for nbt pls
good - the less drag the better jac. ;-0
the number below one
top o - horse wrangler and plural
i never smoke a whole ciggie
ze 4/9 = none and pl for the 5, so 6/33 rhymes with a list of people on a team but change the r to a z and plural for the 7
ze - none, plural, z plus blender brand and plural
I am glad for that much jac
Hi babble pals!
cool jac. ;-)
hi beach
heya beach
you guys are amazing i was struggling to clue the longer z's but you just spat it out like that
I'm not usually that fast jac. ;-)
fish me for the number
clue please, for the re6/21 - the one just before what you get done when your shoes are worn out. Please
salmon your way. :-)
mmmmm salmon

not a bad slap I'd say. :-)
Grrr. I thought I had typed that in!!!! Thanks
and the upper O?
os 6 and 7

os 6/18 has been clued as one who handles your horse at an old time inn and plural for the 7

Missing 3 re words. the two 7's and the 8. Halfway down the bottle of brandy, onto 10 grains of valium, and all my hair torn out.....HELP
re7/8 re & the second part of lickety's name
lynxx - you are truly an angel from heaven!!
re7.32 when an elderly person has a break from their normal carer...or re & nastiness
hang on - my halo is a bit wonky
did you get the re7.32 Soodle?
I said I wouldn't start this late if it were a big grid. But guys... this isn't a big grid, is it?? Evening all.
Hello, sprite
hi Sprite...not so big and really not so hard - after you find the words
hi sprite, hi Babblers.. hi BR!
hi BabbleRabble, glad to see you
hi Aloy
thanks lyn, glad I started then :) Hey Aloy! Terra is doing rather well, doesn't show any pain anymore. I am hopeful!
Hello, Aloy and lyn
Yes .. Once you find all the words, this puzzle is not so tough ..
hi Tor
hi lynxxx! oh, Sprite.. very good news re Terra!
that goes for most puzzles, I've found. Hiya torg :)
halfway September we are due back to the vet and then we will hear more. If necessary, x-rays will be made then to see how bad it is. But if all is fine, no x-rays. Because Terra must be sedated for x-rays.
do you feed her any supplements , like glucosamine chondroitin?
what has been wrong with Terra Sprite? hips?
yes, very painful hips and way too much space in them. But at his age, it can all still change for the better. We discourage his jumping and standing on his hindlegs.
no I don't... that is something I use myself, actually. Is it there for dogs as well?
glucosamine can make the difference between almost not being able to move and bouncing about for Hobbit
will check it out, thanks for the tip Aloy!
our neighbor had great success with it for his G. Shepherd, so we tried it with our old lab.. and it did help
a form of glucosamine is very commonly recommended for dogs here too
hi Ata
wonderful, thanks all
mixed recs from vets, so I say it can't hurt to try
and yes, dogs can take the human glucosamine, just make sure of the dosage. it's often cheaper than buying special animal stuff
how much do you give Hobbit, Ata?
um. let me go check
I think I remember 1000 mg .. large dog tho
yoohoo !
I think Hobbit is closer to Terra's size. I think I would be ok if I gave him half Hobbit's dose
hiya Aussie
hi Aussie
shouldn't that be Coooee Aussie?
Hey Sprite :)
Hello, Aussie
nah, I'm a yoohoo, but COOOEEE fits too :)
ps, hey Lynx :)
and Hey BabRab, nice to see you
she has 225mg daily, Terra should have half her amount according to size. But she does have up to 2 or 3 times that dose daily when she's having difficulties
and ATA !!!!! Are you counting down to Oxonmoot yet ?
absolutely! I'm making stuff for Oxonmoot as we speak!
we used to grind it up and put it in his food
WOOT WOOT !!
all written down! Thanks a lot!
it really has made a *huge* difference to Hobbit
big difference for Taz, too.. he would lose his stiffness
her tabs have 225mg glucosamine adn 162g chondroitin per tablet
small public service anouncement.....NEVER BUY A MICROSOFT BRAND WIRELESS KEYBOARD AND MOUSE!!..had to return it and get another brand
hi crossy.. bummer
Thanks Crossy, and hello my sweet Crossy :)
Hello everyone. I am blind to the co5 etc that begins just after dead things. Can anyone help?
aussie;)))((()))
hi crossy
howdy sprite
Nevermind..... found it
just asking usually does the trick, Bugsaw ;)
yup, that's the key
It sure did this time. But when it is a REAL fish, it doesn't work.
beautiful icon, Bugsaw.
ah, but fishes are an exception to every rule :)
Well put, sprite. thanks
phantom: gaberlunzie
gaberlunzie? Ok... *off to see what that might be*
not in my dict, lol
I think it is BR's middle name
medieval scots for a licenced beggar :)
a wandering or licensed beggar
yayyy!
interesting, ty sprite
Wow! I like that one BR. Thanks
guess it has too many letters for a Scrabble dict.. or is it proper name?
also spelled Gaberlunyie
medieval scots might not be in the Scrabble dict though
found three birds in the grid so far, all hang around the ocean
oh sprite - if you buy glucosamine from the vet, it's very expensive. there are cheaper sources, you just need to check the dosage. Internet, local pet shops etc
another new word learned and another Babble day justified. Thanks BabbleRabble.
a great online resource: http://www.onelook.com/
thanks Ata, I will. Might even start at the local herb etc store here. They know a lot about stuff like this. Nature shop?
thanks Aloy!
ty BR.. made a note of that
that's where I always look when the ? is a dead end.
yw.. yes, I agree with Ata.. we found a huge diff. in the prices.. just bought from a discount store.. worked fine
I get mine from the local huge pet superstore place. It's about 3 times cheaper than the vet. And sister gets her from an online vitamins and minerals shop!
Your icon is quite amusing, sprite
perfect! I will check it all out and make sure Terra starts on it tomorrow.
it really should help
thank you, BabbleRabble :) I needed a smile and thought I'd share.
crossing my fingers for you
thank you, Aloy, it will help!
it does take a few days at least to kick in, don't expect instant results
true.. give it a few days
I won't, will give it time to work its way in.
but not too many days, it's pretty quick. it usually works for Hobbit overnight, but she's used to taking it
How is your finger doing, Aloyisius?
ok, BR.. only sore when I move it.. (-:
which is a nuisance with babbling! *sends healing vibes to Aloy's finger*
I bet 'reptile' has been called as today's phantom before now
ty sprite, and ty BR for asking.. it really is more nuisance than anything.. good excuse for typos tho (-:
oh yes :)
your icon is pretty amazing, Ata. Who's hugging a deer there?
me!
hi all...here for my first blush...
thought as much! How did that feel??
how does the grid look?
hi pini
hi Pinik, what's the blush for?
Hey Pini :)
um. apart from the fleas ... lol ... he was ADORABLE
hi Pini
Howdy, Nonna
lol, REAL fleas this time. Are they as soft as they look?
errrr the fawn I mean, not a flea
blush? did I blush?
hi all! :)
they are. and their noses are wet and black and soft. their coat is in 2 layers - the outer scritchy coat and the underneath fluffy one
good afternoon babblers
hi Pini
you said you were here for your first blush, Pinik, so I wondered?

Welcome back Enomis :)
wb for sure, Enomis
it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I got to hold him for about 40 minutes while we took him to the rescue centre
wb then, Enomis. What kept you away for so long?
really special, Ata :)
np sprite...it's a wonder any one word has only one meaning...gads, languages can be downright confusing! :)
busy and broken computer - I have a new one but I lost my babble program with the clues - so I am back on the web
can't they now! I totally agree, Pinik :)
ok guys, I have to go for a while, see you all soon..... Hugs xoxox

OK I put neosporin on it. Bye
hello inge, i think vinegar is good for wasp stings.
thanks zoom
yw Inge..when did it happen..just a while ago?.
yes, just before I asked for advice. Wasp must have been crawling up my shirt and when I moved it stung me under my chin
antibiotic cream seems to work well also
ooh, not nice, bloody things, hope you put some anihistamine cream on it soon, that will also help take the sting feeling away.
i know i did not spell that word right..lol

Hello, Kate
how are things on this fine bank holiday?
Tag, White Witch. Long time no see
well i have just gone into tuesday morning here in the UK, but my bank holiday went well thanks..and how is yours going?.
sadly, we had no holiday today, next mon. is though - labour day...on which, ironically, there is no labour... :-)
tell that to the mothers who deliver
loved your pic 'minimal'...keep forgetting to tell you
LOL
looks like whitewitch dropped out as fast as she appeared
there will be no babies born on that day...pretty sure it's the law ;)
many thanks Kate, yes i enjoyed taking that one...a very nice warm evening that was.
perhaps she dove into grid?
makes me wish for what i have not....wistful sigh
she used to be very active here and suodku about two yeas ago. She lives in the Caribbean somewhere
quite a photographer, do you do it professionally?
well, perhaps she's dining...it's about that time
how strange..i seem to be missing a pe6,21 the first one..yet when i type it into the grid..it says i have already entered that one..yet it is not on the list of words i have entered.
clue for the second sp 6/21
No kate i just enjoy taking photos.

son-in-law put on a bbq lunch for the staff where he works - steaks, salads, baked potatoes, etc. was lovely but also more than I usually eat mid day - could have something to do with it - and yes, did have a small glass of wine
ok- time to go to the gym... I have 17 for later- this is a fast grid!
how lovely Kate, fresh peach jam, yum

TK... when will you commit and stop being a gray head?
seem to have misplaced jai...perhaps she was not buckled into chair again?
thank lickety! i need 97 still
when i find a bunch of money blowing down street
easy peasy TO
quite a greek chorus at times re: going pro, don't see other grey heads being asked so much?
not true... we ask all that stay here for any length of time
sometimes it can be quite snippy - not you
take it as a compliment - you have become enough of the group that people ask you to commit : )
I was grey for a year and some before one of my fave babblers ever saved me. trust me, we have all heard the request and it is honestly, quite reasonable.
hi uni
what's the green monster for?
Oh, the list *is* coming up late in the day? Perhaps I'll get a grid done again sometime before summer ends.
do not argue with reasonableness of cost. sometimes you all need to think outside your own sense of what cash strapped is
I have to laugh, I asked to leave more often than I was asked to stay.
yes, lickety has been busy, but usually gets around to posting it later... i imagine he is overwhlemed
It's from a website - you build your own M&M. It's been up for a while, I haven't been around enough to remember to update.
I was asked, that is
build your own M&M - lol
expect i'll be asked to leave soon enough
hard to believe that br
TK - I am a fourth year university student with a 60 k debt load and my store just closed so I am jobless. Please understand that many/most of us have an idea of budgetting.
TK - I have NEVER seen anypne asked to leave... I apologize for saying anything... had no idea it would start all this
but would you spend the money now if you were not already signed up?
hey uni!
I never spent the money at all. Thus my statement that one of my fave babblers saved me. I was apparently so in demand that she decided to sponsor me. Hey TO!!!!
no apology necessary kje, like you very much....just makes me feel bad that can't pay now....am made to feel cheap
colter
lots of talk about...it's ONLY 15 bucks...
I do not make a habit of lying
kate: do as you please. i played for a long timebefore i joined.
If you are here after more than a few weeks/months than you will see many others suggested/requested to go pro. It is a long standing tradition probably stemming from the many trolls that used to frequent this former haven.
oh,has it gone up? i payed 995 i think.. that was a year and a half ago
Greyheads used to get lost in the shuffle of chat. Not so much anymore.
TO - How've you been, anyway? I rarely end up being about when you are here.
speaking of which, how is school, uni?
have been here, what 10 days? 2 weeks? little early for the hard sell, doin't you think then
i am ok. only play nights and weekends as i can,now
thank you TO
surely, no one thinks i am a troll?
School doesn't start again for a week and a half. Since the store closed a week ago, I spent some time at my fathers visiting and I am am off to Lori's tomorrow for a week.
think it's 14.99 u.s. kje, not much more....
oooo - fun... party while you can!
oh no, you lost your job?
I find that presence in chat tends to dictate the requests for prodom as opposed to length of residence. There are fascinating and useless studies to be done here.
well - i guess if you don't chat, no one knows you are there - LOL
i agree! so take it as a sign of affection.
why chat is you are going to called a liar
cr6 pls? ty
i agree TO - no one asks the annoying ones to go pro - LOLOL
The store went out of business after a number of years in trouble. It was very hard for everyone (surprisingly so). We are all trying to figure out what to do now, :(
are we involved in Babblanalysis tonite? :-)
either that, or a signal to shut my pie hole ? ;-))

**thinks about how cupcake was never asked to be pro...
not me une - i don't have the energy...
cupcake?
:-D
i don't think i knew cupcake
me either
saw a cupcake here a few days ago?
there are differing opinions about who is annoying
troll?
perhaps there was a 47 on the end? I don't remember for sure. Ask Haz about her...fun to wind her up. She was quite young and quite harpy about things.
no one asked me but then again there was more diversity then
hi une
hey, kate :-)
G'd eve, Une.
go pro = not troll
hey, uni :-)
well... no stupid harrassment usually = not troll
Chat is very different now, even in the 2-3 years since I started. So many who have come and gone. There is still a strong core though.
LOL une!!! funny icon
uni what re your prospects for emplloyment?
gladja like it :-)
Raise your hand if you have experienced the Australian kinderbrats! LOL

quite sure i get up many people's noses....do in real life. just misunderstood....i hope
we had some danish kinderbrats for a while... whoa!
was that when a teacher encouraged some kids to play?
in theory it was a good idea re increasing vocab . . .
that was u.s. wasn't it une?
i guess . . .
TO, there are many places hiring for part time work, but very few I am interested in. I am going to be doing some volunteering and am debating if I can go the term without paid work as I would like to focus on school right now.
no, the danes were teenagers wanting shock value... nasty buggers
ooohhh, ok
could you get work at school? maybe pub? should be many positions?
hi everyone
wonder if DrG has a record of all the trolls he's "removed"
hi andree
The Aussie KBs were introoduced to babble by a teacher - who did not monitor them at all. They used to return once every few months during the school year to shock us with their teenage antics. we have had similar groups from many countries :)
(hey, BR, you sneaky lurker)
Hello, Une
hah!
interesting thought une... we had the unflushable troll for a few days... the one who kept coming back in different forms
just burnt a large pot of cumquat marmalade, phoned friend who provided the cumquats to get some more and try again, ho hum
oh, jeez, i remember that . . .
I intend to stay with bookstores, libraries, publishers and the like if at all possible. Money is not yet an issue as I am a saver so I am doing what feels right.
bummer, andree!
just kept signing on with different name?
BRB . . .
work school library?
then enjoy! i remember having to work during school and it could be a drag
Perhaps you should just pretend to make some marmalade, Andree! Might be easier on yourself and your pots.
Afternoon people. SHould I start with only one or so hours to do grid, and dinner to force on myself?
i don't like marmalade so daughter did taste test said its delicious like caramel

Ian flemming wrote the novels in the late 40s or 50s. the whole thing comes out of the novels.
read them voraciously many decades ago . . .
well, i imagine the novels are good?
Then some other guy wrote a book or two in the last few years to continue the franchise in books, but most people hated it.
well, they were if you read them in the '60s LOL
books are always better than the films, imho
Did you know that Ian also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Disney movie with Dick Van Dyke???

yes, kate -- that IS how it works. but this time we understand the mechanism, and in theory we have the means to prevent its rapid spread through relatively simple, relatively inexpensive means. BUT the question is whether we have the will, collectively, to do what we know is the right thing.

I am also, I have decided, not cut out for meeting coordinating. I HATED it. start to finish. Didn't have time even to visit with my friends who were scientists
my undergrad was the all-time catch-all "liberal arts"
back
L A perfect for teaching...and allows you so much latitude in study choice...
I do understand a lot of the microbiology, having been around it for nearly 30 years peripherally... but it's not my field of study. IF I were to do science, it would be chemistry. organic chemistry. OR I would be a naturalist with an emphasis on plants. I love plants.
won't be heading up PTA then stid? haha
I don't think I'm going to make it
yes, exactly. I have a great deal of breadth of interest, and depth in history and linguistics (but not much "literature")
