I personally got my dog from a breeder as I had little children... I wanted a dog that had a stable temperment, and no (or little chance of) health issues. I got a pure breed just for that reason.
At least one did protest, BabbleRabble, very courageously in my opinion. Perhaps the other followers realise that they are dealing with a closed mind and resistance is futile.
That's the reason for purebreds -- reliability.

oh, animal folks, you will love this - when I went out to split logs yesterday, the very first log I moved had a beautiful salamander under it! jet black, with brilliant bright yellow spots. She was about five inches long, and so cute! we oohed and aahed over her for a bit, and then found her a nice new home under an old log pile. :)

Sunday was horrid: DH's 84 yr/old Aunty (who lives alone and his his only relative around) fell and broke both wrists. Clean breaks, they splinted her, kept her overnight and sent her out of hospital; so she's here with us now. Another friend passed 1 kidney stone, was sent home to pass another. And another friend ended up also in hospital overnight for stroke symptoms. There was losts mere, but for 3 people who are close to you all spending Sun. night in hospital; it's pretty weird!

and they all got out yesterday! I am so angry at out *healthCARE* system to kick an independant 84 y/o out of the hospital without any resources, rehab, or teaching

I refused to take her until the doctor ordered at least ONE session of OT while she was there. I was told that "there is no *medical* reason to keep her in over24 hours; and she needed to be in the hospital 3 nights with a *medical* reason for Medicare or her insurance to approve skilled care or a rehab facility.

You could tell the light finally clicked on and he said "OH! I'll have them see her now before she leaves and then they will call tomorrow for more therapy!

sorry for taking up the chog; but I hope some other people read this and realize how messed up our system is. So here I'll be working overtime with Aunty and DH struggling at home alone. He is still having problems with his head injury last month and will see Neuro again Thursday. Both of our kids work full time plus; and there isn't any other family around. I did get the MD to order transportation to and from doctor appts. too because DH doesn't drive and I can't cancel the clinics. DH has 3 appts. this next week (which friends and family will help with; but Aunty now has 5 different appts. for the next 2 weeks and I can't get them all covered too.
