ursh i am on leave everyday unless you call slaving at home work and that is ongoing
yip it is friday here
TK and trisha, you're only an Atlantic apart plus a few miles, lol!

but you can drive across in 2 hours right?...that's what a lot of folkds think about canada..lol

lol jillivbus exactly
oops jillibus
what's a little typo between friends?
TraderKate the only place in canada that i've managed to get to is Vancouver, now if canada had been smaller,,,,,,

anyone have the tm word?
hi Faith...tm & the letter which is a word today
Hello everyone
thanks lynxx!
can anyone see my new icon?
morning everyone. I can see a yellow smile eating something kate
I can if I click on your profile Kate, sometimes takes a while to update, try refreshing a couple of times
good, glad it worked..if you go in my profile it is animated!
ty both, it is of course a box of choclits!
hi Katie!
Hi lynxxx good to see you, how are things?
hi there lynxxx! how be you tonight?
lo, I know Kate. Pls don't change it but I hate those animated ones, I find them really distracting as can always see them out of the corner of my eye
It's not animated on my screen just when I go into Kates profile
Things are good here Katie. What is news with you
i saw one the other day on here, the motion messed up the chog i think...you don't see it moving in the chog do you?
i have been up to noi good on face book...sending out a million little things for people to look at!...i am a bad bsad babbler!
got the day off yeah!!!!! perparing for hubbys 40th birthday party tomorrow but it is at a pub so don't have much to do so a day of fairy garden & babble lol
I just refreshed but it hasn't come thru yet for me
did you get much of that dust storm sydney got?
Fairy garden?
a facebook application I have just got kate addicted to lol
it's a virtual garden where you can spot wildlife, I play it all the time now
No Kate, I am down south in Melbourne - Victoria. the dust storm just hit New South Wales & Queensland. Maybe another coming this weekend too
they were amazing photos
HI KITT...i sent you lots of stuff i think....for a while yesterday, i couldn't get to your garden...missed the gold...but i was there today..need a few more fairies' gardens to visit.
Sounds like another good time water Katie
water - waster!
YPOU ARE BAD KITT>>>>VERY BAD....i don't have enough time for all this foolishness right now...
Oh it is lynxxx, it has taken over from babble at the moment but I'm sure the tables will turn again
tons of time wasters, but fun...do you do farmville or yoville?
it is harder to entice people to come to fairylsand...especially the guys....giuess it's the name that keeps them away
No I have to draw the line, babble and fairygarden is all I allow myself and to be honest I don't have time for both of them
farmville doesn't take much time, and the nice thing is you can do as little as you want...the thing with fairyland is if you are hunting something special it can take an enormous amoutnt of time
That's the easy ones done, back later to get the harder ones. I must get some lunch. Bye for now
I have spotted every single animal in fairygarden and only have 4 more to attract, I am seriously addicted!
Bye Lynxxx, great to see you x
bye for now lynn
by the sounds of it some have made it their life...i lkeft you a note asking for the recipe site and what sprinkles you want on which plants..let me knoew i have wquite a few
which have not yet come to your garden?
are we face book friends? i have a hard time remembering..especially with the screen names/ real names
brb, have to harvest my strawberries
I will email you the link to the forum link for the calculator. I still need a badger, bee eater & road runner. When I level up I will be looking for a kingfisher but can't get one yet. I'm leaving my mushroom in to attract dragons for a few days until everything else fruits
sorry i was gone so long
i harvested strawberrries, and helped neighbours in farmville. baked cookies in yoville and viisited friednds..then collected gold in fairyland...nothing exciting happened in my garden since last visit..jane has joined fairland..told her to hook up with you too./
gone to lickety for a minute brb
hi everyone
Hi Andree
hi norma, quiet around here
Think everyone has gone back to sleep lol
Andree, did you finish your quilt, last night?
no christine, doing the edge so takes a while, will finish tonight though
can't resist having a bit of babble time
i am not addicted ofcourse
None of us are Andree lol
hello all!
ooops -- the bloomin' computer red-lined on me. So, Andree, I tried to suggest that sometime, perhaps, you could post a picture of the quilt on your profile?
hi kate
hi andree
I have made an awful lot of quilts chris, started 30 years ago
nose in grid again
this is for my sister who has moved from a 1 bed unit into a 2 bedder and this will grace the spare bed
i am dying to finish it as i have collected japanese fabrics for some time and will do a pattern of fans, looking forward to it
I've been playing with fabric for almost 40years, yet to make a quilt. I like making the blocks, but get excited about the next block long before I could make a full quilt, so I send the blocks to an on-line quilty friend whose guild makes quilts for returning warriors.
at least they are put to very good use
I almost finished a top wjen I was teaching a class at the local library -- always one block ahead of the class -- but the class folded and I sent the blocks to their destiny.
and i know the feeling of thinking about the next one before finishing
If I can make it to 300years, and my back gets better (so that I can sit up for more than 15minbs) I may make a dent on the fabric that fills the apartment ... good insulation, if I lived in the frigid North.
keep the fabric chris, the best quilter is the one who dies with the most fabric in her stash
Nooooooooooooo - the most quilts. I have a friend who knows her kids will us her stash for cleaning rags, so she's taking it with her, packed around her in her coffin. TRUE STORY.
lol
I don't like this grid, so I'm off to my book. Goodnight all.
bye chris
am back, went to lickety for a bit
50 left here just opened lickety
how are you kate
i am well andree, and you?
fine thx kate, just heard on news the dust storm will be back which is not what i want to hear
as long as it stays away from you it's not so bad?
i have been cleaning for days, went to the car wash today and had the pool man in to treat the silt on the bottom of the pool
heard there were 2 small earthquakes the same day as the storm
they were in victoria, sydney really copped the dust storm, everything was covered with red dust, it even burned my new tomatoe seedlings
hope the forcaster is wrong , they usually are
how did the seedlings get burned? from wind?
lol, the forecasters are no better here
i am not sure, they should be okay, first thing i did when it was over was hose my veg garden
well, i hope that if there was some nasty wind, it brought you some extra work..clean up bins required?
from what i understand the dust covered everyting thickly
it did, the guys at the car wash sure had big smiles
i forget it is the start of spring there, i am very envious..i missed spring and summer this year and now am looking to wintre. FEELING VERY CHEATED
has work picked up for you at all?
yes , weather is beautiful at the moment
it has a bit, and i have not gone backwards
lovely, i guess things naturally pick up for you in the spring?
baby steps andree...you are right, if you can't move ahead, at least don't slide back
they do
must pp to lickety for a minute or two, bbs
back in a bit
good morning everyone
how is the grid today?
Hello, jacq. Feeling better?
i wish BR chest is worse than ever lol
how are you today?
I am doing okay ... sorry you are not better
interesting quiz BR, i take it sarcastic answers are not invited? lol
it's probably better i get this now than in winter
I have no answers other than what I found .. not sure if they are right
ahhhh, smiles, being a naturally sarcastic person i have some instant answers but they probably aren't right ;o)
but the answer to 11 is Karen (my eldest)
maybe have her take the quiz?
hello All, well i used to collect postcards and as far as i know it is called Deltiologists
hello, zoo .. that is the answer I found too
you think she'll get the hint? i remember one morning she called at 7 and asked what i was doing so i told her i was doing a full breakfast for alan and i and she was here in 10 minutes
heya zooz
hello jacq, hope you get better soon :-)
i will, today i am taking everything very slowly, after yesterdays excesses and all the visitors it's nice to have quiet
maybe with give her the quiz and ask her which one she most resembles?
back again..hello to all of you!
heya kate!
hello, Kate
winter can be an ordeal
sounds like a plan BR
hello, Tkate
just don't cough, jacq
every muscle in my torso aches with coughing, three nights with little sleep from coughing
but.... no ciggies for 4 days
hi all, my favourite babbles are all here
good for you, jacq
sounds like you have got the flu jacq
is the quitting going well for you jacq?
just a cold with a bad chest i think zooz, but my temp keeps spiking
sounds awful, jacq
i am finding the right side of the grid easier than the left..lol
i have 56 left and something tells me that it will get harder from here
your left brain must be hard at work
I generally work laterally on a diagonal
lol
no jacq, it'[s not bad, really, i have not hit a wall yet, and that's saying something...you'll probably get a bunch when you feel a little better..perhaps some tea and toast?
lol
tm 6 is an interesting word
*looking*
it's t'plural of t'mouse yes?
G'd Morning Babblers! Perfect timing. That's why that t was annoyitating. I kept trying a ts word.
good clue, TKate
you like BR?
lol
lol, got it.
Hello, Lori
hello Lori :-)
hi lori
we've had that tm one before, i remembered it
i like to make up words... the plural of goose is geese the plural of moose is meese the plural of mouse is mouses....
thought i was going to say meece again didn't you?
must go to lickety for a minute
back again
lol
hello, Andree
wb andree
if it is any comfort jacq, i too have been struggling with a cold, although not a chest infection, still very annoying non the less
wb Andree.
night time & early mornings are the worst i find.
yes i find that, but strahgely enough when i go into the bathroo after the teens have had their shower the steam makes it worse
thats probably the steam dislodging the phlem
it will get better am just not used to feeling poopy, sorry for whining about it
sorry that sounded a bit disgusting.
lol i wish it was that zooz, my chest gets really tight and its harder to breathe
whine away jacq, it sounds awful
thats ok, you can whine as much as you like.
imean your cough not you
lol i got it andree, ty
don`t forget to take yakult or actimel, they are good for your immune system
se6 and 7's please
don't have those yet andree, sorry
se + thorned flower with a different last vowel
At least that's all I have so far.
Is there more than 1 se 6/7?

LOL, crossy
looks at crossy, you ate so much bacon you went piggy on us?

Okay kids, time to wake the spawnlings and boot them off to skool. BBL
taking a break with 29 left
early start for yours lori, dont have to get mine up till 7
bye Lori & jacq
***5 minutes afore 7 here crossy*** :p Laters
crossy there is nothing to be sorry for any opinions given on babble are taken in the spirit they are given, its when jc singled me out with a mass email and a blog dedicated to my shortcoming that i draw the line
what breed is the new boss/
he is apoodle/spaniel cross
best known as a spoodle :-)
cool;)
let me guess, this thing is stuffed full of babblets:(
i think its great that we can express how we feel

You cant get vane Cross??!
nope
tried thrice now
kate, i bring up lickety and then size the grid to sit beside it so i don't have to go back and forth
oh god,no wonder
it does not exsist in the puzzle
I mean it doesnt work in grid you cant get from the N to the E
dont worry bout me andree, ill be fine lol
your head is full off cotton wool, no wonder
indeed..sniff...
i only mention this kate because you keep leaving to go to lickety
and and i mad about 'rooves" as well?

i don't exist in the puzzle either, but i am still real
see my post at 5.00
better get another lemon tea...wheeze rattle....
yuou might want to look that one up0 crossy
believe that plural of roof is roofs, not rooves
poor crossy, poor jacq...anyone else need ea and sympathy?
going to liook
am back because if i don't babble will have to hang out laundry and do the floors and can't muster the inclination to clean
better to babble quietly when you don't feel well
wb jacq:) as a member of our prcratination club you get a nice leather jacket..if i can ever get off my arse and order them;))
lol, ty crossy
ah yes andree, i do finally have babble expert..but as yet have not managed to figure out the sizing thing...i did get it squashe a bit but i was not able to have lickety up and still see the chog which can bestow lovely little fish.
have my lemon tea, loads of chcolits (burthday choccies) and babble, all is well with the world (unless the family descends again)
no i did not mean babble expert, i don't use it, i meant lickety's list
w3hen wasd your birthdayjacq???????? i missed it??????
kate, use the spit screen feature on lickety, dont try and do it as 2 seperate pages
you do lose the chog thoug..except for the icons
who is cooking while you are sick crossy
i have expert, i don't see how people can use it for clues, it's the same screen with buttons on top and they don't seem to do anything
ah, have no idea how to do that andree, someone tried to tell me some stuff about different windows, but i wads lost...something best explained in person, and much too difficulot in chog
i still have to cook regardless andree;( though the mrs is trying
made a nice chicken parmisan last night..i didnt eat though..some broth and to bed
click on the list and make it full screen then bring up the grid and move it about 2 inches to the right
poor crossy, will make him some nice chicken soup with brown rice and veggies
my daughter and i share the cooking, its nice to have a break
:)..know what i crave? some of the lipton soup in the packages you do on the stove top..one with the tons of tiny noodles;))
^_^...i have some!!!!
mmm
do you have any crossy?
never tried them
ill look, but there always seems to be some up on the top shelf anyways
andree, have read what you have written, trying to figure out what to click etc..i realy don't know what i'm doing
i am craving cullen skink, but the fish is so expensive just now :o(
the good mrs has greased down this mass of muscle(lol) in vics and i can breathe again;)
cullen skink? doesnt sound too appetizing..;/
just need 38 more, but havn't got the u's yet???
made with naturally smoked haddock, potatoes, onion and cream, it's lovely
now a nice peice of sea bass,or hallibut or a nice chunk of pickerell;))
at bottom of grid click on lickety, then click again where it says click, then click again where it says printable clues
google it crossy, it's a traditional thing here but baxters (the soup people charge about £3 a tin)
ahh like making the innards for a fish pie!!:)) mmm
Hello everyone

wb Lori
hi Lori!
Is there an actual un word coming from that u please? I have the ul and uv's
for some reason i always thought the sa7 was spelt with an h at the end
2 ul4's
i have 4 u's and no un
Ahh, Mercy Buckets Lynx!
Doh. got it. DENSA.... Thanks again!
yes, do use the bulk add, no problem with that, just annoyed that in order to stay with chog and grid i must get the word list to manageable level then write list of missing words by hand, hoping that i insert them in the correct spots if the point counts are the same..and of course anything entered in lickety must be re-entered in babble after that , which can lead to errors of forgettin g to add..
there is no un worde
So, before the inevitable "can I have the 8 please", may I have the first 2 letters ONLY?
don't have it yet lori, sorry
but i will be listing soon and will look
Kate: Just keep redoing the bulk add - over the top of ones you have done before...You can even just do Bulk Add on all the wods starting with, say, S

Good morning, all.
hi judi
Andree - have the dust storms abate at all?
*abated*
hello all!
hi TO
the duststorm only lasted less than a day, just left a mess in its wake
1st time in 70 years this has happened and now we are being told another is on the way
i am going to the car wash tomorrow toask for my money back, lol
Mmm. Tough to clean up without water. Recommend rain dancing.
i have hosed everything in sight outside and damp dusted the whole house, been to the car wash and had the pool man in to clean that up
and on the other side of the world . . . we've had 8 inches of rain in 10 days and are supposed to get another 2 inches today . . .
rain would be great but all we see is blue skies
Andree, your puppy picture makes me want to kiss kiss kiss him!!
une send some here please
packing it up as we speak, Andree! LOL
that was taken at 5 weeks at beg of september
he is nearly ready to leave his mum and then i can be his new mum
so exciting!
have you chosen a name?
beau
Very cute!
aawwww, looking forward to lots of Babble pix of Beau in the future!
other than the last 6 years since i left husband] now ex] i have never been without a dog so i am very excited
I've never gone more than 6 months, Andree! LOL
what is the mix andree?
Andree, what a cutie Beau is!
back for my last 5
spaniel and poodle, a spoodle, i can't see any poodle in him tho
hey, annie!
go annie, 2 more here
wellthe coat- the curly coat
hi annie!
my last dog was a spaniel and the one before a springer spaniel and niethe had really straight coats
neither too
andree, I don't want to open the whole nasty can of worms again, but I did want to let you know that I am now being blamed for the whole fracas. according to the perpetrator, I am the one who turned it personal. Sigh
with all the rain and humidity here, my mom's springer has MAJOR curls these days! LOL
you are kidding me trif
no.
Hi Trif...you are dealing with a person of questionable stability...ignore the idjit
letit go. walk the chog wisely
hi annie. Yes, I suppose you are right. and I will, TO
Trif, If you disrupts Babble Dr.G can help
he turned it personal when he lifted from my profile, nothing changes that
*LOL....I meant HE..typing too fast and not reading what I type
dr god has had heaps of emails about this from many babblers, he says no laws were broken
wow, that's interesting, andree . . . jeez
must run -- back tonite -- happy babbling, all! *poof*
*freedom of speech...he's a dangerous jerk..ignore him
because my name was not used even though everyone knew
Uh oh. Who is this person, so I know to ignore him if I see him?
JC
you are right annie, but i felt bad when crossy tried to apologise to me this evening because he felt he has opened the original conversation
yes, that is what I am most guilty of, unfortunately. I did use your name in one of my replies, which I obviously regret tremendously. I thought he had in the original post.
andree, I have just sent you an email. It will explain everything
are you sure trif, my son checked it over very carefully to see what could be done and as my name was not used , nothing
JC once went after Haz in the same manner...best to pay him not mind..that will drive him nuts
*no
JC? What did he do wrong?
and then he will go away until the next tim
*time
On second thoughts, that may be personal. Sorry! Don't feel you have to answer, I'm not trying to pry!
will check my emails
I used your name, I am so sorry.
Andree, he has done himself the most enormous harm as I see it. Before I realised who he was (if he is telling the truth), he came over as someone desperately seeking attention. He needs the public for his career, and if he alienates them he has no career.
all you who have given him your email addy and subscribed to his blog be vigilant
nothing to be sorry about trif, your intentions and bravery were wonderful
Trif, You went to the aid of a fellow babbler
i'm back, had to feed the gkids
I am done.
wth annie!
hi phae, Owl

sorry all, my laptop freaked and I had to reboot - Andree, I just went back to double check and hey - I NEVER did use your name! I only said "babble"!!! He had such a go at me for "outing" you that I assumed I had, but I didn't!
Trif, Haz has a good description of this person on her profile.
OK you guys, this story is quite intriquing. I don't know what you're talking about. Someone start at the beginning and tell me what the ... is going on??
Owl, did you get sa 7 ?
Yawn. Fireworks.

Vo 8: antiquated term for woman who casts a ballot.
i just checked over the email from my son, have sent it on, he double checked and my name is not mentioned, its just a case of jc trying to shift the blame

thank you andree. My mistake.
good morning
got the tm word. weird.
never heard that vo word. cant get it yet.
not your mistake trif
I wonder how long it takes an email to get from oz to here - maybe seconds, maybe minutes? Isn't that mind blowing, when you think of it? I used to send posts to my friend in Australia back in the 80's, and it was a question of six weeks out, six weeks back. Amazing
not votuna or votanna.
Oooh thank you for that clue, Judi. You wouldn't believe the ridiculous words I made up and tried for that...
glad you said something otherwise you might not have gone back to check

repeat first vowel after az.
street spirit, same ending as for Jungle Jane's friend, Tar***.
Wonderful. Thanks Haz and mkg :)
need first st 6 plz
You're welcome.
need se 6 also please.
se6 - se plus Miss Parkes, civil rights heroine.
ty
st6 - st plus donkeys losing one of the double plural letters in the middle.
My excuse for missing that one is that this is my first time trying this. A friend recommended me - typically, he has not been on in months himself..
st 6 please?
oops i see the clue now.
ST6 is Sa 5 with a consonant inserted
No excuse needed, street spirit, this game takes practice.
ty all. got firewks now. ty ty ty
Well thanks, Haz :) nice of you to say
No problem, street. Welcome to the game.
I just changed my icon to clue st6
Congratulations mkg.
need a bump for the u for nbt, please?
u - radius and ?
part of the eye uv4
I should have said ul4 and it anagrams as well.
and that greyed it! thanks ladies....have to scoot now, I have a forest of paperwork to slog through
Paperwork = unbounded joy.
you have no idea, haz! I have to go back through a year's worth of bank statements and visa statements to account for every single transaction - where it went, and who paid it, and who spent what, in preparation for a marathon meeting with my lawyer on monday. oh, such joy
My heart is sinking for you.
found a fish tu4
I'm the world's worst, I never take any note of what I'm spending money on. It sounds horrendous.
You'll feel good when it's done, Trif. Bit like cleaning out the attic.
actually, it is giving me a feeling of control, haz. Once it is out on paper, I am in a much better bargaining position. I won't have to *guess* how much my average electric bill is, I will know. Knowledge is power.
the scary part is, I can come up with a monthly figure, but the court might not grant it. It could be hundreds less.
You're doing a fine job of accentuating the positive, I'll grant you that.
as I said before, I am a New Englander, raised by a Depression baby who's mother was Scottish. Thrift runs in my blood
And we've already discussed possible menu choices...
yes, I threatened the kids with it the other day! Suddenly the dinner I had prepared was quite appealing!
I can imagine!
Seriously, I wish you didn't have to be doing this, but since you must, I hope it goes smoothly and leaves you feeling that you've achieved something.
actually - I think I have changed my mind. it is a lovely fall day outside, and there is yard work still to be done. I still am splitting up those trees I had taken down, and the gardens need to be put to winter bed. I think I will go out side and revel in nature. Paperwork can wait til night time, can't it?
in any case, off I go. Cheers, dears! And special thanks, Haz. I appreciate your warm thoughts. It will all be sorted soon, and we can all celebrate.
I recognise a fellow procrastinator :-) But the fresh air will clear your head and make it easier later.
LOL sally! Yes, sometimes those logs do have faces....
Hurrah! Halfway mark
All the best, Trif.
You're doing very well, street spirit. You're enjoying the puzzle?
Thanks, Haz :) and yes, I am. The chat is impressive, too - everyone's so nice to each other! Can't wait to flaunt some of these words in my english class...
lol street spirit. You haven't caughton yet that these are special babble words, never to be seen anywhere else!
Some of us are still waiting to introduce hairy-nosed dolphins into conversations (inia). Some of the words are mind-boggling but it's fun to find them.
Hello, all.
Since I can't sew I'm unlikely to need to buy an etui.
Vicuna! Hello!
How are you?
Funnily enough, Sally, someone the other day was looking for 'needlecase' in a crossword. Such triumph when I could tell them.
Inia? Etui?! Time to start the rest of my life searching for hairy-nosed dolphins in the Thames.
I'm well, Vicuna, how are you and the twins of Glory?
lol Haz.
TOG-girl wiped out on her bicycle on Saturday. Much blood and agony. Two stitches inside her lip. Ugh. Otherwise we're all splendid!
Vicuna, just seen your recipe. Ooooh, temptation get thee behind me.
The sad fact is that English is composed of words stolen from lots of languages and we poor babblers have to broaden our vocabulary to find them.
Just do it, Sally! It's awesome!
ANd you need to eat only a very small serving at a time because it's so rich. honestly!
I already have rather a lot of past temptation showing on my behind.
Two stitches! And her poor lip will have been swollen, I'm sure. Is she still able to eat ice-cream?
lol. Oh well, fine!
Her lip was bigger than her nose at first, but it's amazing how fast her little 7-year-old body heals. It's like watching time lapse photography. I'm so jealous. She's almost back to normal again already.
Well, I have sneaked a copy, just in case ...
That's good, Vicuna. Did the bike need major surgery?
Still afraid to get back on the bike again, though.
I take it 1 c of sugar is a cup?
hello again everybody
back for my final 2
I can understand her reluctance, hopefully she'll pluck up courage soon.
Hello jacq.
heya haz
I think the bike's fine, although to be honest we haven't really looked at it since bringing it home in the car. (SHe couldn't ride home, so we abandoned it by the side of the road and walked her home, then went back for the bike with the car.)
Hi Jacq
Oh Jacq, what a lovely icon
heya sally
Yes, Sally, c = cup. And you can always serve it to guests and make them worry about their behinds instead of you worrying about yours. =D
Hello, jacq. Hello, street spirit.
hello street, ty starry night is one of my favourite paintings, this one, the scream and the persistence od memory are myall time best
it looks like an easy and yummy recipe Vicuna
Yep, it is, DR. Apparently I'm trying to corrupt the morals of dieters everywhere.
Oh, I see my first husband's in the grid: to 6/18.
I have been goingto the gym for the first time in my life so I can have alittle corruption. : )
LOL sally, i just got that
LOLOL
It's nice to see that you're working through your hostility issues, Sally.
she's not hostile LOL somany men have the same name LOLOLOLOL
:-) Haz. All a long time ago.
lol
Sally, how did your non-to6/18 present husband manage when you were on holiday?
Maybe her present husband is also in the grid: luv
fireworks!!!!
Well done, jacq!
Very slowly. As he said, the snails passed us. Mostly in Venice we used the boats, and he tottered around as best he could. We don't "do" museums and such, but just soaked up the atmosphere etc.
Yay for jacq!
that final to4/4 was one i tried 5 times and i'm sure i spelled it the same way each time
I'm all for soaking up the atmosphere if the atmosphere is Venice and Florence.
And the ice cream, remember!
can i clue fr anyone?
It was a belated silver wedding holiday - we should have gone in April but he had a heart by-pass then. Not been a good year for him, health--wise.
Italian ice-cream - such a wonderful excuse to soak up the atmosphere. 'Let's have a rest and soak up the atmosphere and, oh look, we happen to have stopped beside a gelateria again.'
You were obviously in the same queue Haz!
Yes, indeed.
So, what's the excitement in Ballymena these days, Haz?
Would you believe that I was down town this morning and the bomb squad were there?
Uh oh. Nothing serious in the end, I trust. We don't actually want THAT kind of excitement.
The bomb squad? Where do you live Haz?
sa7 if you are still here Jacq
Some sort of suspect device outside the courthouse, I think. I haven't heard any controlled explosions or anything so it's maybe been a hoax.
Ballymena, Northern Ireland, Sally.
Ugh. Hopefully some totally innocent mistake.
ty
Like someone dropped their lunch on their way to work, and it happened to be tied together with wire...
DR1965: sa7 is a sort of grassland, ends in girl's name
what they call grass plains in SA DR
I hope so, Vicuna. They don't take any chances.
morning? all
ty both- got it
Hello hootowl.
Hello, hootowl.
sorry had a coughing fit
think of wheel of fortune
good - now clue that abominable vo8 please
vo, roofing gunk and feminine ending
dam - that good was NOT aimed at you jacq - that was for finding it.
LOL i know hoot
roofing gunk is tar?????

ok- off ot take son to school - bbl
Bye, DR.
lol zooz, i have to be isolated for at least 5 days
Bye DR, hello zooz.
they are treating my flu like swine flu
hello, zoozzoom.
Hello Haz :-)
that does not sound too good jacq :-(
am getting tamiflu
hello Vicuna :-)
so they think it might be swine flu then?
it's a precaution, but yesteday my whole family was here, both grandchildren too, and my mum is on a new med that weakens her immune system
best to be on the safe side..thats what i say.
Wow, thanks Haz - just took a sec for the McAdams part to click

looks like i have babble all to myself.
not entirely, I tend lurk and not talk much, but since you were by yourself I thought I should say hi
yay..hello Cwwizard :-)
hi
hello vi
Hello TO, Vic has left for a while.
hello zoom. hello all
hr
hello PMS
hello zoozzoom
My current score is 100 words and 1000 points. I could continue in search of that holy grail; however, I feel there is a certain je ne sais quoi with regard to where I am now, so I'll bid adieu to this puzzle.
bye lawyer
First word I find? Phantom....This probably says something about where I'll end up in today's grid.
i thought this grid was not going to be too bad..but i must admit..i am struggling today..lol, although it is probably just me :-)
No, you are not alone. I have found a lot of unfamiliar words, too.
Not much activity in the chatterboc either.
Hello Merk, glad it is not just me then :-)
no you are right, most people have gone.
just checking in, hello all
Lunch or suppertime perhaps.
hi leigh, where have you been?
It's a good thing I'm not in need of a clue right now.
helllo Kate
i guess with such a small grid, most people finish quickly and leave?
well i only need 10 more merk, i can tey and give you clues if you need any :-)
hi zooz, how are you this evening?
not too bad thanks kate..how are you?
I've been working, and sleeping mostly.
How are you?
okay here, been a bit tired lately, am about to have a nap..like naps...a lot
i'm doing fine zooz. did they finally give you a night off?
same here, love them..sorry to butt into your convo..but when you mention naps..lol
in fact Kate i have two in a row, today & tommorow :-)))
naps..nature's most perfect restorative ^_^
wow! what have you been doing with all that spare time?
well i have taken some photos for a butchers brochures, nice when your hobby starts to make you money..also been looking after my sisters children so she can go out and enjoy herself for a change..lol
leigh, how do i find out about my farmville land purchase? it went through -$20 farmville dollars, taken from account, but i still only have the 6 plots i started with...should now have a 16 x 16 farm...?
so your sister must be close to you? also on the island? thaat's very brave of you riding herd on your neices/nephews..bet your son is having fun.
i always liked spending time with my cousins when we were younger..and now too, for that matter..
does anyone need a clue or two?
yes my sister lives not very far from us, so it is nice to see her children, my parents also live close by, and yes we all live on the island, except for one brother & two more sisters who live on the mainland. (large family as you can see..lol)
hi all!
Hello Nrkii :-)
down to 5 more words to find
taking off my socks to count how many siblings zooz hads...
hi nrkii!
go zooz go!!!
10 to go here
well done nrkii, you're almost home
i only have one child, the rest are brothers & sisters :-)
i`ll race you Nrkii, although i am listing now..and i don`t mean i am going lobsided..hahaha
just went to list... 8 now
a son i think? was it in your profile?
nrkii's nipping those words off in record time
yes that is right, gary..although it is on my flickr account and not on my profile on babble
down to 4
a TM word??? monkeys working on that while I move on
2 left
i must have seen it there then, i remember looking at your photos...there were quite a few i really liked. very original work, inmho
geez you are fast
must have had a coffe before logging in...
fireworks!
but I had to use a2z for last two words... TM6 and VO8
tm6/18 = t'plural of t'mouse?
WOW WTG Nrkii...remind me NOT to race you again..lol
yes the vo8 is what i am on now
tm6 = t + flat-topped hills in the southwest of the US, but change last vowel
plural of goose is geese plural of moose is meese plural of mice is meses
* from kate's own deictionary
vo8 pitch used to repair a roof +....
nice Kate :)
you like? i'm tired and silly now..
vo8 a woman who casts a ballot, sort of
ahh thanks got it.
nice clue nrkii
1 to find
and fireworks for me :-)
GOOOOOOOOOO ZZZOOOOOOOOOOZZZZ
yay zooz!!!
did you finish nrkii? did i miss it?
i notice our icons are rather similar Kate :-)
apparently vo8 is actually a woman who is a devoted follower
yep, I finished
congratulations nrkii!!!!!!well done!
11:48
but I "cheated" for the last two words
what to anything i presume?
no patience today
oh don`t say cheated Nrkii...otherwise i feel like i cheat everyday..lol
well, so do I zooz
lol
all's fair in love and babble
yes zooz, saw this in my travels today, i found one i liked better on another site, but wasn't able to bring it to babble for some reason. it was a smiley wih a glass of red wine..swirling it around and drinking...very cute
or all's fair in babble and war?
too right
too true nrkii...alll' fair
TK, question for you about the red wine cake... how would you describe the final flavor of it?
is it very chocolate, very wine, or c) other?
congratulations zoooz! that wasn't so bad was it?
it's finish or when you're chewing it?..it's got a slightly boozey taste, but not strong like italian rum cakes...scoc and red wine compliment each other vey well
no i suppose not..lol
more choc than wine, and that is only a hint...
oh I know, one of my favorite wines is a chocolate wine
ok i had better go and do other things..bye all, hope to see you all tommorow.
yummy?
very very yummy
and I'm off to the gym... ugh
I promised myself I'd go at 1PM, and it's 1PM... sigh
bye zooz, good luck with the sitting duties, hope your sister appreciates you for it
see you all later!

hey stid how was the lab?
i had my ultrasound this am. looks like there is ometing either in the left kidney or in the spleen. fun
i went shopping and got fresh veggies i ate whole, and a pomegranate for later :)
when my elder child was just born and in the ICU I spent nearly every moment I could with him -- an hour from home -- and at one point the nurses almost literally shoved me out the door so I would go shopping with Mother.
glad you got some sleep, dc, how is Tom doing?
sorry to hear that science
mmmm. pomegranate! you know that "grenade" is the french word for pomegranate?

Peri, doing well. I'm working on repairing the OS on his iPhone, then i'll head over to the Clinic
oh! the Winogradsky columns are looking good, science -- stopped by briefly this morning and took a peek. Should start growing some nice bands of bacteria in a week or so.
pls give him a gentle hug from me, seain
Tom had a septal myectomy yesterday. They removed 12g of tissue from the septum in his heart.
will do, peri
yummy stid!
omg! this is your baby???
that seems like a lot of muscle, seain.
no, my partner science
wow, prayers for him!
stid, the septum had grown to 3.5 cm. Usual is 0.5 cm
ty, science
i find it ironic that i'm needing to use a PC to correct an iPhone error.
golly gee. well, give him our very very best and let him know he is on my list. I'll check his website for updates as often as I remember.
cool. I'll have another update this afternoon, and think i'll make a post to the recovery log
okie dokie. and DO take care of yourself. is there a museum nearby that you can go to for a break?
the clinic is an oasis in the hood
"ratose" a rodent-based sweeter? (the BEST diet product ever!)

DC, I am sorry for the assumtion, it was wrong of me.
i am, sue. he had a septal myectomy yesterday. they removed 12g of tissue from the septum in his heart - it was enlarged.
I truely am very glad to hear your partner is recovering, it seemed like a scary time for you
and NP, sue. We use that term, too :)
lol
it was. i'm feeling better now that the surgery is past.
did they have to put in a valve?
he's out of ICU, and i'm heading over there shortly.
no, they said the valves were good and well-formed
tell him he scared the crud out of your online family
i have :) and will again now that he's conscious enough to use a phone again :)

bye science
bye sg
yay my house is in the grid again :)
oh yes?
as are you!
oh yes!!! oooo! go me!
se7's?
le sigh. wolvie never shows up in the grid
Stew is soo happy, he's just got up from his bed in the hallway and there is a rug on the couch which means he is allowed on. That's him happy for another 3 hours. And they call them couch potatos, wonder why
awwwwww :) what a happy boy! that's what I love about dogs, such tiny things give them such pleasure
:-) lynxx
me too, se7 please
I will be very happy
se7's - plurals of the se6.18
clue for se6?
lololol - i was just going to tell lynxx she was cruel
se & flower with last vowel changed
she was
;-0
ty lynxx
i have a kitty on the desk giving me the cuddle eye
awwwwwwww
now that's cute
my little tuxedo kitty - china - is always ready to cuddle - sometimes tho - he demands it. ;-0
awwwwww. we want pics!
ty
we just did our cuddle moment, but he didn't like that i tried to type and pet him. he is so spoiled
okay ata - I wil post some on fb - probably not before I get back next week tho - this mac is still new to me
china? is that like the rhyming slang - china/china plate/mate?
china is a lovely name
whenever!
lol -never thought of it that way lynxx - when I rescued him I took one look and said 'china"
ty ata for being patient
they do tend to name themsselves, dont they?
my other kitties are named kit kat and tyler
yes they do
though what that says about silverclaw, i'm not sure
my collie's name is Grady
he is a pure bred tho so shhhhh.
my first non rescue dog ever
border collie?
lolol - love that name
no no full blown large lassie dog
ohhhhhh!
I dont get to rescue dogs, they find me first
wow! tthat must be fun to groom
Lovely, they are such beautiful dogs!
my last rescue doggie, jasmine, died from a snake bite
he isn't bad - blows twice a year, and OTT - my cats are way worse
the dogs you're meant to have find you. whether rescue or pedigree
Grady is a beauty boy. Way prettier than lassie
I agree ata
yes lynxx - he is an 80 pounder - lean too. unlike his mom
very true ata, dixie just went from one couch to the other
what do you mean by blows Wolvie...is that the same as moults?
sometimes you get lumbered with greyhound couch potatoes ;)
unfortunately, his mom gained some weight over the last couple of years lol
why cant I find the last se?
it is only a 4/4
yes lynxx - I call it blows, because when he does, it is a carpet
it is a plural too Sue
oh - is there a grid? lol
the last se 4 that I have is se plus sun god
did you want a greyhound, lyn? or did he just come along? I cant remember
ah. ty lynxx
We used to babysit a Collie, she was the most beautifully natured animal. Her owner has never replaced her, I think he can;'t get over her
collies are incredible dogs
I need the one after the 2 se7's
they are very sweet tempered - that is for certain lynxx - he wouldn't hurt a fly - unless we weren't home - then he would bite a stranger
it's funny - i would never have thought he was that protective of his turf, but - we found out he was.
very loving and loyal tho
best friend has a border collie / heeler mix who is much more collie than heeler, and he is *incredibly* protective of his home
just a big cuddly fur ball
why are they scaring the crap out of people with this swine flue crap
border collies are neat dogs - I would love to have one someday
it just pisses me off
I had been looking at the adoption site for about 6 months (knowing our 'designer' dog was nearing the end). Fell in love with Stew's picture. Got him without actually meeting him - despite what 'people' say that can be done - and as you know couldn't be happier
the other flues are much worse
it sure can!
and you and him are just wonderful!
very neat lynxx, and yes, you can do as you did - i did it with jazz
well they have smoke sue. ;-0
(sorry sorry)
the kids come home scared of going to school
what designer dog did you have breed-wise?
my son just got in and said the HS was going to cancel a football game due to 3 kids getting the flue
flu
can you imagine if they do that with every flu case?
Sue - it's only because it very very contagious and can be deadly if you have other health issues
well - safety is better than the alternative
and it affects healthy people
but swine flu has been shown to be deadly to the young sue. I think it is a wise precaution
that could happen with any flu lynx
Bobby was a 50% ShiTzu/ 25% poodle & 25% Matese.
every flu is bad, but I spoke to my doc how said it is not bad
a bit different than other flu viruses i think
ooo! what a wonderful combination! was he a wonderful fluffball?
what do they call those lynxx - bet he was a great doggie
dixie is 50% Red Tick Hound and 50% Beagle, lazy barking dog.
Sue, we had 4 deaths within a week of it hitting Australia ...and about a 1000 cases within a week. it spread much much faster than other flus
shes great
pretty neat combo sue
then they should give flu shots at the schools
instead of making people find modes of transportation
not enough vaccine to go round
jazz was a mix so much we just called her heinz 57 - although she was a 65 pounder. VERY active
I just really hate the Fear Factor that the media premotes
Bob was a great little dog, your perfect pet especially with the kids. These bred to be cute dogs, like the one Andree is getting, really are lovely
got to get Wesley, bbl to finish the last 5
lynxx - did you designer doggie have a name as to type? My friends got a goldendoodle and couldn't be happier. Theo is a great dog
bye sue
I agree Sue, but it is actually responsible to make people aware of the dangers.
the poodle crosses are wondeful ptes
*pets
Not in those days Wolvie, talking 16 years ago
ah - i was just wondering. Great mix tho
goldendoodle? we call those labradoodles here - very very common. lovely dogs
goldendoodle = x golden retriever, labra = x labrador
well here there are 2 types - golden retrievers and golden labs then crossed with poodles
snap ata
TY I'll have to look out for that cross
they are both very nice doggies - smart and friendly
:-)
both utterly lovely
not as lovely as cocker spaniels though :P
of course. that is a given. ;-0
no hairy nosed babbler today, eh?
excuse me, I am just wandering through our greyhound site again, wondering if we could fit at least another greyhound into the house. Great site, you want to adopt every single dog
i bet. I have often thought of greyhounds for adoption. If we get this home with some decent acreage, I just might go for it
loooooool. one more is a;ways better
Doesn't need the acreage at all Wolvie, just to be fenced
really? cool
oooh you should see Ginny (race name Luna Lovegod!) she is absolutely gorgeous. You would have to change her name back though
just so they cant run off for miles
back to???
Luna Lovegod !
oh - lol - from Ginny. duh
should be luna lovegoddess!
someone tried to stick with the harry potter theme
i am missing on r - i have 4 ra's, 4 re's, and 9 ro's. what type am i missing please?

Bye dawger
Evening, all :) come back for the second half of the first ever grid...
welcome, street spirit and good hunting
Go Street Spirit, Go! You can do it! And Welcome to Babble!
Thank you :) babble was recommened by a rather -forceful- friend of mine, so he'll be disappointed if I don't give it a good old english try..
radiohead fan?
Welcome, Street Spirit. This is a good grid to start with as fireworks are certainly attainable for you.
back for another go at this..cough..rattle,wheeze...;/
Is it that obvious ;) yes, huge fan. And when I say huge, I mean, you know...va4.
It took me a bit to get used to it, but so glad that I stuck with it! Totally addicted but very happy to be so! The other Babblers here are wonderful so you will enjoy it! That is key...just have fun!
tis to me cos that#'s my favourite song ever lol
welcome to the club street spirit;0
Hi Crossy
I had the pleasure of seeing them play it live at Reading recently...unbelievable!
generally, the only troublesome words are the ones you can't find
Thanks, Crosshair :) And car.eeyore...I think my friend may have mentioned you as a babbler...not sure!
oooooo lucky you
But BR knows almost all of them, and we are very grateful!
Me or crossy?!?!?! I am not worth mentioning!
Will you tell us your Babbler friend's name?
if they mentoined me it was all lies i tell you..was framed;)
I definitely felt lucky :)
If it was me...it was about the bothersome clues I ask for easy words!
Oh, he's Jesse. Might be better known as nancy boy? he's not the type to stay quietly in the background ;)
Yeah! Nancy Boy!
nancy! yay!
Ah, yes, Nancy Boy! I know him!
if it wasw me,it was my charming wit and personality:))
My phantom today: sesame
Oh wow, looks like he underplayed his popularity ;)
Now crosshair I believe I may have heard something about that ;)
:))
I am not on a lot of the time when Nancy Boy is, but I do enjoy his chats and look forward to chatting with him when we do meet on the chog!
I'll nudge him into babbling more...he keeps tiring himself out. He works nights but can't stand to miss ANYTHING that might be going on during the day, lol
Tough schedule
I must say, scrabbler, it puts me to shame
Are you grieving a bit, Scrabbler?
hi folks - i have one word left for fireworks and it's the last se4,4. Can anyone please clue me? It's probably too easy but can't seem to figure it out. Thanks!
se + *i*e and shine
A bit, for families/kids that I will miss, but not the office--toxic, dysfunctional, ready to implode
oh like i said, duh??
!Thanks Babble - firewords!
Congrats Babbz!
congrats, babbz
thanks - i rarely get a chance to finish a puzzle these days. Anyone need a clue?
glad you had the chance, babbz
I have a dilemma and maybe I could ask some advice. I need to drive my daughter and her 3 friends to a college open house about 6 hours away. One of the girls works until midnight tonight and one is cheering until about 10:30. The open house starts tomorrow morning at 7:45. Should I just stay up and drive straight thru????????????????????? I'm such a sucker for these girls, but this one will push me over the edge, because then afterwards they want to drive straight home - and even tho they can all drive, i could never relax knowing they are driving with no sleep either. What to do???
hi, babbz, walked right into your question, not an easy one - any other parents willing to share the drive???
Hello babz. Sounds like you need another person (adult) to go along and sleep on the way, and drive you all back.
Quite the dilemma? Can you go another day with an earlier departure?
That might be a good idea, but the other two parents are a little dysfunctional, which is why they asked me to drive in the first place
still thinking... can they take a bus? professional driver at least
Aaarrgh - I get myself into these little predicaments all the time. We have the go-to house where all the kids come, they tell me their life stories, they call me "mom" and I end up feeding about 12 people several days a week. There is usually at least one girl sleeping over every weekend and while I love the fact that they are comfortable with me, what the heck is wrong with the other parents??? This is my "whoops" child, I'm 57 years old and I think getting too old for all the teenage drama!!
the two girls who are not cheering or working might sleep before leaving and the three of you drive down -- on the way back, a couple can nap in the car and spell the driver
I'm a grandmother for heavens sake!
Babble - good idea - I have no problem driving straight there - I can stay up, drive, go to the open house, but I really think I'll put my foot down and tell them we're going to have to stay overnight Sat. night
that's nice, babbz - more time to get to know the college - where is it by the way?
We're in Chicago area and we're visiting Southern Illinois University in Carbondale
Ultimately, your way is the safe and best way, babbz
I vote for staying over - tell the girls we at Babble have decided
just remember, babbz, if she chooses this college, you'll be facing the same dilemma for 4 years!
I think you're right. Better to be safe. Thanks for letting me sound you out, folks! I love lurking and reading all your comments; you are great!
True, JBV - but there is a TRAIN thank God that goes right into Carbondale from Chicago, so a lot of the kids take the train. And she has her own car but I don't think they let them bring it freshman year.
I have a niece who lives in Santa Fe, goes to school in Flagstaff, AZ- she takes the train
That's a very nice feature - no one takes the train anymore. It's a great way to travel
good luck, babbz .. be safe
It seems a little safer than a greyhound bus - thanks all!!!
I agree, the midnight greyhound not exactly an ideal milieu
Vowels done...victory is mine!
congrats car.eeyore
20 left. Must complete before midnight...
Nice one, Eeyore :)
Go Street Spirit...GO!
(and as jesse said, these aren't words...they're lies!)
OK....tm? Really?!?!
the tm is the special one that I am leaving until last/ignoring for as long as possible
i had that clued and couldnt get it ;(

Hi Scrabs!
ty Car- got it
Hi Scrabs- happy last day of work
There are now 4 children screaming and running around my home wildly with toy swords...for some reason I am finding it hard to concentrate on the grid....
bose head phones work wonders Car.
I was off today. Monday is my last day and Sir Richard Head left a message on my answering machine that there will be lunch served in my honor Monday.
The children are still young...can't quite do that yet....
Duct tape + bungee cords are effective, Car
Oh- hope he is not attending
duct tape is better than headphones
Yeah, but eventually the children would find me and untie/ungag me.
He will have pizza delivered I would guess.
LOL Car
Hahaha, car!!
They always find me....
I know you are just glad to leaving there Scrabs
Poor Car, living with children that conspire against her!
I sure am, DR. I have waited a long time for the chance.
One is digging the sword under my bathroom door...not realizing that she is whittling away the cheap particle board on the bottom of the door...
Only 2 are mine...
Where did you find the other 2, Car?
http://media3.guzer.com/pictures/diet_ coke_bacon.jpg
No crossy...I did not find them there!

As and Es done, in case anyone needs help with those.
hi again everyone!
hey LBD. how's life? I have had "shopping therapy" with Mother today... and didn't do ANYTHING on schoolwork. It felt so good, and I will be ready to buckle down again tomorrow.
good for you stid! you need to take breaks to keep the brain from overloading! i'm doing well. made 5 quarts of salsa today
everything smells like onions!
mmmm. We LOVE salsa! and you know I have never made any! perhaps we could do some tomorrow. I need to buy veggies at some point anyway.
the neighbors have been supplying me with tomatoes so i thought i better use them or they'd go to waste. had the onions and chilis already, so it was just a matter of chopping and chopping and chopping
slicing and dicing, and...
sounds like a perfect combination. Do you add anything else?
a few things, worsterchire, garlic, vinegar, salt and pepper,
stidders!!
st 6/18 please? I cannot seem to monkey it.
HEY CROSS!!!! (do I smell bacon?)
I have lots of garlic!

8 slices of bacon, crisp and crumbled, lotsa garlic and 3 green onoins diced fine
oooh, it really does sound lovely!
cooka all in butter of course, but go light on butter or it gets greasy

whooooo hooooooo STIDDY!!!
so did stigdmere come back with lots of pictures and goodies?
whoo hoo stiddy
so, the stidkid wants to go as a Templar knight for Halloween. I am a bit uncomfortable with it, but... *shrug* that's his thing.
hey jmc!
templar or not, a knight would be dashing on him!
hi jmc!
oh, she DID! in fact, they gave each of the fellows a lovely shirt, and I got a silk scarf and TWO pins (one enameled) and some books. GOOD stuff. And apparently they bought some things in shops that are shipping them directly here...
oh he was darling a few years ago when I made his knight suit... hold on let's see if I still have those pics.
my computer is very very slllloooowww tonight
mine was acting up earlier today, not sure if it was me or the isp.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/59401038@ N00/sets/72157600716803738/ is him a number of years ago. I actually sewed it all by hand because I couldn't find my sewing machine!
good evening
hey Eva!
that's a private page, stiddy. but I think I remember the costume you made him.
I dont have permission to view that page
Hi Eva
:-(
hm, I'll set it to public (thought it was)
I'm being quit rude and doing a hit and run for help as I have only 3 left and would like to stop obsessing about it! I'm missing az4/9,es4/4, and vo8/55. They all seem like they should be obvious and probably are.
okay, should work now
az 4/9 is az + ** apple (indefinite article)
es 4/4 is plural es
ah yes, that's the one i remember! Prince Valient!
vo 8 was just clued by LBD for me
I am home from my meetings and counting on NOT wokring this weeken
OMG it's the other a!!! How could I have been so blind?!
rofl I did that several times, eva!
yeah for not working this weekend!
o doesn't he look regal!
you know that word eve?????!!!!!!
yay no work!!!!
i got called for jury duty!
just missing the es4/4 now thanks to the help!
thanks jmc, he really did. and a week after the pics were taken he had pretty much outgrown it!
oo do you have the one day one trial rule?
the es 4./4 is highly redundant...
*holding breath for eva*
yeah that growth stuff!
??? jury duty? oh yuck...
one day one trial?
es is a plural letter
in DC if they don't pick you for a jury you are free for 2 years
a trial in one day? the letter says that the trial is set for october 5, and may last up to 3 days.
other wise you sit through the trail
*turning a little pink....*
in all my years, this is the first time i've been called for jury duty.
*turning a little purple...*
here you can go broke doing jury duty, unless it goes beyond 20 days
*tapping feet waiting for Eva*
breathe stiddie breathe
thanks stid(-: That did it! Now I can return to being a sane human being. I heard a wonderful interview on NPR with Temple Grandin, the autistic woman who has written a new book called "Animals make us human" and she was saying that stereotypic behaviors, in any animal, are always a sign of distress or something really off kilter. Makes you wonder about us Babblers.
*eyeballs bugging out!*
*gets O2 bottle ready for stiddy*
whooooo hooooooo EVA!!!
YAY EVA!!!! *breathing again*
in DC I was being called every year -- even for DC and odd for Federal
they pay you half the milage needed to get to the court and you lose a days work every day it lasts
I'm honored that you would turn blue for me stid
whoo hoo eva
we read a temple grandin book in one of my classes last year. very interesting woman, interesting perspective.
not sure what the pay is, but i'm sure it's at least minimal wage, and the distance is about a half mile from home.
Last time I was notified about jury duty I had a small panic attack and asked my doctor to write me a note. I was excused...
then I had a bad back in 2004 and they haven't called me since
She is quite amazing. She also said that cats tend to be OCD, which certainly fits Merp to a tee.
I am sure it is not minimum wage!!!
lol ocd cats! ya think?
the first time I was called for jury duty was more than a year after I had moved across state from the county that called me...
ocd cats seems redundant
OCD cats? I have an OCD dog! *throw the toy throw the toy throw the toy*
all cats are adhd imho
actually, the first time i was called, i had just moved from Colorado to Montana. The judge excused me from serving
I hated to admit it, but it seems pretty definitive that cats have no frontal cortex, while about 11 percent (I think) of a dogs brain is frontal cortex.
i think dogs are more likely to be add and adhd.
if by frontal cortex you mean the part of the brainthat makes you dependant. . . .
unless they are digging up my garden!
which is why dogs can anticipate things and cats always seem to live in the moment, I suppose?
Yup. NO executive function. No planning.
cats can anticipate the piece of paper you need and sit on it
hence the need for nine lives!
sounds like teenagers to me...
lol, stid!
give me a cat any day
actually this Zull book I am reading pretty much nails it -- teens seem to lose executive function and then regain it later.
That's true. I think that teenagers have frontal cortexes (cortices?) but I think the hormones knock it out for a while.
you mean when the hormones kick in and everything else goes out the window?
yep. that's it, for sure!
yes, sort of like menopause
and probably explains why they are so likely to get into car accidents...
certainly the brains go out the windows
that whole planning ahead, thinking one move beyond this one.
owch, Eva! LOL I am getting there already!
Merp can, however, hear the sound of deli wrapping paper being unfolded when he is fast asleep in the second floor closet.
Merp is amazing!
hmmm, wonder if there's a time release for the cortex to function again...and for some it never clicks back on.
living for the moment of deli! smart cat
I wouldn't be surprised, LBD -- but with the brain so plastic and able to reprogram, I wonder why those functions don't seem to be readily compensated for?
I am happy to say that it appears that my son has clicked back in after several years of stupid boys tricks
Maybe that is why middle school is so challenging to teach... the students are just starting to experience the disruption of hormones, but haven't yet established coping mechanisms.
it's about time, jmc! LOL he's only... 30-ish?
23
i wonder if hormonally speaking the brain may get over saturated and "forgets" to click on, or maybe it's the selelctive cueing of the human
ahhh 23, not so bad then. could be worse, could be never
oh! sorry -- must be thinking about someone else's darling boy. :-D
he's not that much older than my kids then.
I loved teaching middle school. they were so fun to laugh at!
:-)
a crucial amount older though stiddie
stiddy, you could be thinking of my kid...33 next week! EEK!!
true enough -- you can go on extended vacations without yours! *dreaming of the day*
a real grown up lbd!
LOL maybe that's the one I was thinking of. And how is his growing family?
speaking about being hormonally driven...time for a sexist joke (close your eyes if you find such things offensive): What's the difference between a man and a treasury bond?
oh -- a classmate of mine from last autumn -- who is much yonger than your son, jmc but not so much older than my elder kid... he's going to be a father in a few more months. I was flabbergasted. And gave my boys "the lecture" again.
Grandson is a chatterbug, and we can actually understand 80% of what he's telling us. Colette is just cute.
hm. *wondering about the punch line*
gag!
wonderful, LBD! I love that stage!
oooh i know, i know...
......bonds mature
lol eva
*gasp* oh EVA! (that is just TOO FUNNY)...
lol
his preschool is teaching him spanish and english. of course he confuses both!
it looks like it might be getting cool again, LBD... just fair warning.
stid why does your profile say that you are 10 years old?
I remember getting slightly confused when we were taught spanish in kindergarten and first grade. But it was immensely helpful in later years!
break for a while bbl
i have mixed feelings aboout the weather change. I love it, but my roses need the warm weather!
um, because I want to confuse people? LOL I figured people can find my real name pretty readily if they want to, but I didn't want them knowing how old I am!
later jmc
I am old enough to remember a little bit of Watergate and the end of the Vietnam War, if that helps any,.
I also remember the landing on the moon.
i have flickr pictures up, stid. that's my treasured rose garden
oooh! *zips off to look at posies*
I covered my basil for tonight. But basically the growing season is over. The wood is stacked, I've used the stove a few times already. The foliage is changing really quickly this year and looks to be sepctacular.
Well that makes sense. Why not keep some mystery.
some trees have started to change, but the maples and alders are still holding on to their green
I remember the advent of TV. OY!
they are GORGEOUS! peace roses?
I don't even have the filters for the furnace ready to go. I suppose I will need to do that tomorrow morning. Tom can vacuum the ductwork for me.
speaking of Tom, I think that may be him coming up the driveway...
i'm not sure what kind they are. they came with the house. I have flora bundi that are starting to bud out again, and several smaller "peace roses" and some double blossoms
oh! and I just got my copy of Lauren Ulm's book "Vegan Yum Yum" (same title as her blog) very excited to try some of the recipes!
my kennedy bloomed for the first time this spring. only one blossom tho
they are so pretty. mine didn't do much this year because I didn't have time to water them. they'll be fine though, and next year will do better.
you'll have to let us know how they turn out stid.
roses are very tempermental up here.
I will!
i have one plant that has two different colors on it. one deep red and one texas yellow!
i wonder if that's cuz your weather is so much wetter than it is here, Eva
so ladies, the topic of an NPR show on the local public radio station this week was whether girls should be "good" (polite, deferential) or "authentic" -- what do you think?
is that one grafted, LBD? sometimes the rootstock will cause the plant to revert...
it's one of the older plants so it may very well have turned
authentic, but that doesn't mean she has to be rude or aggressive.
speaking of which, we should go see if there are more harvestable apples and pears on the trees in the "orchard"
other neighbor brought over two bushels of apples. i have to do something with them too!
apple salsa!!!!!
i love the harvest of my neighbors' gardens.
i'll have to work on that one, stid
I don't think there's a right or wrong to that one stid - they have to survive, as did and do we, and depending on one's circumstances being authentic, at least outwardly, can be very difficult and even dangerous. And also, by the time we are not very old, we have learned to hide and cover up and "forget" so much of our core selves. It seems to practice of a lifetime to learn what being authentic truly means.
I am so sad, there is a little McCleary girl has been missing three months and they are only now getting search warrants to look on properties in the area. WHY does it take so long? *very sad mama look*
good lord, what in the world are they dragging their feet for? they should have had warrants asap!
yes, that is pretty much what I was thinking -- no need to be false to one's core self but no need to be rude either. Still, we spend our lives trying to figure out who we really are. Took me 40+ years to decide I want to be a teacher. Told one of my classmates last weekend that I was in a career change: from mother to teacher!
good points, Eva. We do train our daughters to be "good little girls" and allow our boys to be rambunctious
Her parents must be in awful shape... I would be. I just don't know what I would do in their situation.
not my boys! or at least... not all the time.
well, very good chatting with all of you. Time for bed now. Be back tomorrow.
(((Eva))) sweet dreams! see you again soon!
Stid, no you've always been a teacher, now you will have a piece of paper that says the state recognizes your skills and talent to be paid to be one.
night night, Eva
LOL they were required to go outside for rambunctiousness, and to hold it in, indoors.
*big grin* thanks LBD!
thanks, lbd, for the pictures ... the flowers are beautiful
hey BR! ((hugs)) I finished! and my last word wasn't a bit fishy!
yw, BR. they are worth the trouble of covering them up during the colder nights
brb, need to get some water.
bye LBD -- going to go shopping for a while.
I am not quite sure what rambunctious entails ... I do know my dad did not hesitate to let me know what he did not like
congrats, stid --- be safe
I think different parents have different definitions, BR. We had a small house with many sharp corners so were a bit less relaxed than we might have been. *more hugs*
see you-all tomorrow! *poof*
mmmm.chicken soup;)
hi everyone
howdy jen
is this puzzle very big tonight?
bye stiddy
127 words and 1291 points
127 jen
kewl, i might find them all!
three months until Christmas
you have 3 hours to try, Jen
argh! BR!!
yahoo!
christmas has generally been lost in the commercialism of the season.shop! buy! spend! so for the last 5 years or so since our boy has been old enough to understand, what we do is buy each other 1 small meaningfull gift then donate funds to slavation army who make up christmas hampers for the less fortunate famlies
that's a wonderful practice, crossy
was a year or 2 when our boy was small we had a hamper or 2 ourselves
one of my wifes older brother spend 500 dollars on each of his 3 kids!! what sense is there in that?
nothing like being able to give back.
indeed ibd
think it happened one christmas season when our son was ten.was dec 23rd and im running around like a mad man just buying crap at randon to fillo the base of the tree.I thought to myself "here is an idiot in action

howdy jes
at least you had the power to see what you were doing.

have a good night! thanks for the clues :)
whooooo hoooooo JES!!!
night night, Jes. sweet sleeps
I agree Crossy. that's so infuriating

grrrr
brb
want my business? since im in north america, speak english, have your employees live withing 1000 miles of head office and have a real person answer the phone when i call
k,enough venting
i dunno, crossy; half the time i can't understand what the folks from new jersey or alabama are saying, because the accents are so different than mine.

there; updated!

was a close thing. he was getting better, using his leg, so we sent him down to a different rehab to be grouped with other fawns, and then 2 weeks later he suddenly stopped using his leg :(
they ended up having to clean out an abscess that re-filled in between muscles in his shoulder, that we'd thought had been resolved. but much better that than tendon contraction or joint fusion!
glad he made it.
