Viruses, I guess, blue screen of death and the works - I bought Kaspersky on sale at Target back when it was only version 6, upgraded during the year to 7 for free, am now up to Kaspersky 9, have only renewed at full cost once.

not, sorry to say. Dad recently dx-ed with Alzheimer's so my sis who is in town and I have lots to do. The volunteer opportunity I had now is only interested in under-45 - hmmph! otoh, I will be sending my son on Nesiya in the summer of 2010 as a HS graduation present. And my Israeli neighbor and I are talking about me travelling with her next time she sees family. We'd have a ball bumming around together.

exactly. I'm beginning to see his incessant repetition of the "top 5" anecdotes about his life in a new light. I think he teels these stories in part to himself, to keep track of his self. One thing the dx does is to recast all the past hurts. We can chalk up his aggravating behaviors to the illlness, and our sometimes testy responses to our belief that he was still a rational being. All 5 of us sibs are pretty pulled together over this.

my big problems were sharing word documents with coworkers, there was software to help with that, but it was unwieldy
Andree, you will have to accept that you will need new software, depending on what programs you use most. However, for mac a lot of the software is free or very cheap.
You can run Office for Mac which is totally compatible.
i would only be using it at home so that problem would not arise

I did feel at home today. I am 12 minutes from home and I love staying here in the country.

my neighbor passed away on Friday... I found out about it 30 minutes before I left town on Saturday to visit my parents 4 hours North of here...
neighbor had been very sick and in the hospital over several weeks
so I came back today, and missed the viewing by a day and the funeral by hours
am very sad that I didn't get to pay my respects and would like to do something for the family, but honestly, I'm not THAT close with them so I don't want to overstep
advice?
a nice card and a donation in your neighbor's name to a charity/organization you think would be appropriate would be appreciated, i'm sure

had something similar a short while ago .. someone i work with on an occasional basis lost an adult child under questionable circumstances. the family wanted everything private. i really like the person i work with, but felt stymied by the family's request for total privacy. so i did what i just suggested ... and he came to see me the other day and said that what i did was sweet and welcome
I think I will wait on the meal, only because they have tons and tons of food from many friends...
maybe 'welcome' wasn't the right word .. appreciated would have been better

no reason for you to be embarrassed. you weren't very close and *psssst* you don't have to be the person who goes to every service, every memorial. there are other ways to pay your respects

take the thinning shears and slide them under the hair and between the ear and make a couple of cuts and brush it out.
